My mortgage was sold by Chase to Carrington Mortgage Services and I was informed that Carrington would now handle my mortgage. I contacted Carrington because my February payment was due. The customer service person informed me that I did not have an account number yet and that I would be getting a packet soon. She was all bubbly and happy that I was a new customer.

I finally got their packet and paid my mortgage payment online the day I got the account number. Then I got a bill for two house payments saying I had not paid for February. I called Customer Service and was told she would send an email to that department to let them know my February bill had been paid. I am supposed to think their computer system is not connected so one department does not know what payments have been received by another department. Then today I got one of those debt collector phone calls from Carrington. My March payment was not overdue.

I attempted to get into my online account with Carrington and was totally unable to access any information. According to the system, my username, password, and secret question were all wrong. So I called Customer Service again. Now the problem is that they are having technical difficulties with the online system. According to the reviews, this is a very common response to problems in accessing your account online. I was told a new password would be sent to me via email. I used the new password only to be told it was incorrect. So now I have set up a new password and can finally access my account. The only problem is the account does not show my March payment has been made.

From the moment Carrington took over my loan, it seems like just one ridiculous problem after another. From the numerous bad reviews about this company, it seems someone would have looked into their practices. I hope this is not going to be a continuing problem for me. I would advise caution for anyone considering this company.

Well it started out just the way you all say. I see that you have to send a signed letter right off the bat requesting a monthly statement and whatever mail applying to you. Then they jack your payment for awhile to fill your escrow to gov't allowances. BoA didn't do it. Then just pay on time. I'm glad to escape BoA. They were quite careless with my money and it took months of stress to rectify.

BOA sold my loan to Carrington Mortgage a little over a year ago, and I have been disappointed ever since. I have never experienced such predatory lending since becoming a homeowner. I was laid off Feb. 2016, so I decided to apply for loan modification, I was approved and I started making trial payments in January 2017. When I called February 3, 2017 to make payment number 2. I was informed by two didn't representatives, that I didn't need to make the payment because a previous payment I made in December 2016 was applied to February 2017 payment.

The caller said he was going to add the notes per our conversation for other representatives to view. I called in March 2017 to make my final payment. I got the runaround for about 15 minutes being transferred to various people. I finally got someone, who was very rude. She informed me, my February payment was missing and I no longer had a modification. I explained my story and apparently that held no value. So I spoke to the supervisor on March 3, 2017, she informed me that a representative call me numerous times to clear the mistake.

I only received 2 message from someone named Andrea and when I called back, I was told the same story. No money is due at this time. So I asked the question, "If you have been contacting me about my loan via phone numerous times and I didn't respond, how come no one sent me a letter to my house informing me of the situation/error". Her response was "Carrington Mortgage doesn't have a template that send letters to customers about their account/mortgage".

It made absolutely no sense to me. I'm very disgusted about this situation, and now I'm 4 months behind on my mortgage. She had the nerve to ask me, how do I want to take care of the payments. My response to her was, "if I had the money to pay for the payments that was missed, then why am I asking for a modification." This company doesn't deserve 1 star. This was the second issue, I've had with this company, they truly deserve a class action suit against them. Carrington Mortgage is the worst company to do business with.

I have read numerous reviews about this company. I think they are taking advantage of good people that are trying their damest and struggling to make their mortgage. I called to find out about a mortgage I had with my ex. He never took my name off the mortgage of our home when Carrington took it from BOA. I call them to get info. since I am part owner. They were rude as hell. If my damn name is on the mortgage I have the right to that info. I think this company should be investigated... Please help!!

As all the rest of you Chase sold me out to in Dec. 2016. I've been having trouble with their customer service. Rude, calling my house all times at night and sending certified letters at least 3 times a week and mailing double letters to my house at the same time (I just stopped opening them and told my postman not to bring them to my door. This is harassment and I will not tolerate it). Return to sender really. I think Chase is at fault for this. When you get close to the end of your payments after Many years with them they treat you like low class citizens (Chase). I was also told Carrington was a part of Chase. If so they need to close them down. They're giving Chase a bad name. Only dealt with them for 3 months. They are a sad bunch of people.

I like I have found most of you on here with reviews to have had all the same experience. No welcome letter when was transferred in Dec 2016. They have raised my payment due to "escrow analysis" and put on hold and run around for hours (really just on chat with them for 2 hours) and only thing they tell you to do is fax letters and can't talk to people who actually handle the issues. In fact in my latest chat I did as I was asked and faxed a letter about "fees" being removed and she tells me "oh I see we got it back in December but it was incomplete" but because that department does not take or receive phone calls no one called me about it.

And to top it all off I use an online fax service so I just faxed the same exact file from the server and somehow after doing in Jan and Feb it was "received" in Feb. They are a predatory bank (not that 99% are not) but they like to as they see fit.

Well I have had enough. I have contacted a Lawyer (who I must admit don't much care for Lawyers, I was raised in small town hand shake and your word kind of guy) but I have had enough of their crap. I ask if you have had the same issues please contact them as well... (and again no not a lawyer. I own a small pizzeria in Rochester, NY. I work more than I should to make a living) and tired of being pushed around by these people.

My account was switched over from Bank of America. I sent my check to Carrington with account number on it, etc. They "didn't receive it," according to their people and charged me a really hefty late fee. There is no recourse in a discussion with them. They just automatically say they didn't get the check. Since it was the first month paying after the switch I asked them to waive the fee. I escalated it to management and still no dice. They were rude and ugly. I also ended up paying my bank $130 to stop payment on the check I sent them. It was a check sent from USAA as they have done for me for years and when I went back and checked, I had everything perfectly right on the check. It's a scam on their part for sure so be aware of it. If they say they didn't get your check you get zapped. I have a 830 credit score so I am obviously not in the business of sending checks late or not at all.

I have been so angry all week and I feel I have no recourse. Does anyone know how to get away from them? Now I have to manually go to their website every month and have the money directly deducted from my account which is a real inconvenience. Believe me, I don't want them automatically drawing money off my account. They are rude and difficult to work with. Any suggestions?

Carrington has owned my mortgage note for 3 months. So far my mortgage has been screwed up every month... have to call spend a hour on phone. Many promises get made. Carrington fails on almost everything. Then next month call again... listen to customer service rep tell me "I don't understand why you are upset." My mortgage payment goes up, explanation given. This unexpected increase is to protect me from a "possible" unexpected increase.

Cannot someone explain to me the sense of increasing my payment unexpectedly to protect me from a possible increase. So I send extra payment to cover this increase so my payment remains the same... wait wait... my payment goes up anyways. Another call to Carrington. Another "I don't know why you're upset." Try to log into payment site... wait, wait. None of my passwords, security questions, social security number work. Another call to Carrington. Another "Why are you upset?" Really... If this company approaches you. I suggest you turn and run. Worst mortgage services EVER.

So when I signed in online to pay our home loan, I was really happy to see that I owed nothing. But I know I did not make a payment yet this month. The box for entering the payment amount was grayed to prevent me from manually entering the amount so I ended up on the phone trying to pay. Unfortunately it's like navigating the labyrinth to find a human being to speak to. I gave up and ended up trying to pay over the phone. In the end I was charged five dollars for the convenience. I know it's only five dollars, I will survive. But I came away from this thinking, this company is awful. Bank of America was never this bad.

I cannot begin to express how poor the website is... When you click "Make a Payment" it goes to a screen that says something like "Sorry, your request cannot be processed at this time". On that screen you have to click another "Make a payment" button from the bottom left. This will bring you to a screen with another "Make a Payment" button. This button works, finally. WTF?

Another huge problem I have with the website is the password policy. They force you to change passwords. This is something I log into once a month... and you can't use one of your previous TWENTY FOUR passwords. So now it is nothing close to any of my personal default pws, and I end up having to change it almost monthly just so I can log in.

Finally, the website seems to be experiencing an unscheduled outage (at least unannounced, as I don't have an email warning me) this morning. So I can't even find out how much principal was paid in the last payment. But hey, it's Sunday morning, and I'm already on the internet... I guess I'll write a review. Suck it, Carrington.

I logged online to my Chase account to pay my mortgage & the site said I didn't have an account. I called & found out they sold it to Carrington so I called Carrington to pay them. They won't take my money because they said I'm in the transfer stage & to look out for the welcome packet, they said may account was transferred to them as of Feb.

I recently switched from a job that pays weekly to 1 that pays monthly so I was attempting to pay 2 months (Chase was aware of the job change & notated my account that a double payment was scheduled for Feb). I'm getting concerned. Whenever a company declines to take your money, there is problem. So far I've been with Carrington 10 days & have no clue what the hell is going on, have no welcome packet & no way to pay my mortgage; but if they send me a foreclosure letter then I'll be the guy in the wrong legally. These guys suck, but I'm stuck with them.

Myself like all the others had my mortgage sold to Carrington Mortgage. Once I got the new account number I made my payment which took 3-4 days to be posted to my account. When I called to inquire how this can be done quicker, she stated the only way it could be done quicker would be to do the automatic deduction from my account. I knew that wasn't going to happen and informed them of such. Two months later my payment went up $100.00. When I called I was told it was the cost of living. I accepted that ** reason until it went up again $200... This time I was told it went up because I didn't pay my escrow bill. When told I never to the escrow bill, I was told that's my problem. I needed to check with the post office AND "No one pays their escrow anyway so we didn't think anything of it." I couldn't believe it!!!

I finally found out the amount for escrow. I paid it by mail. I mailed in the escrow and my monthly payment at the same time in 2 separate envelopes because they each went to different addresses. The monthly payment was received but not the escrow. Once again I was told to check with the post office. Everything I put in the mail that day was addresses/taken care of EXCEPT the escrow. Carrington has problems. I was finally tired of dealing with such incompetency that I took a loan to get rid of them. I asked for a payoff, that took 2 weeks. When I finally got it, it had a payoff date for 2 years AND a $500... late fee. It looked like I had to pay extra for paying loan off early. When I questioned it I was told by one person "If that is what it says you have to pay, then that's what you pay". I was not happy with that statement. I just hung up because I knew I was going to stoop to her level and I didn't want to do that.

I called back (of course I got someone different) who stated the amount was incorrect, wouldn't/couldn't tell me any specifics. I had to call back in one week which I did and that person had no idea what I was talking about. He had their copy of the form that was sent to me. He also stated something was wrong BUT was able to tell me the problems. He had to send it to the supervisor. They must have all agreed it was incorrect because I received another payoff amount without requesting it (imagine that). I paid the balance from the loan I had taken. When asked how long it would take to get the amount owed to me, she said she had no idea. I then asked "when I owe you money, you get nasty, rude, blow up the phone to get your payment but now you owe me money and you have no idea how long it takes. I'm sure you have no idea how stupid that sounds but I'm going to hold on while you ask someone. I would like an answer TODAY."

I probably should have been nicer about it but my tolerance of the company was very thin. I got my answer and then told her that I would like a letter stating the loan was paid in full and whatever other paperwork I'm suppose to get. I wanted all this within that 30 day period of time. I stated I will be calling on day 31 and will be just as rude to them as they have been to me during the time they had my loan. Told her I talked to them more in 4 months than I talked to the other company in 15 years.

I also told them they should read the reviews on BBB, that they are not even close to being good. Not one person had something nice to say. Every one that I read was a complaint. That is not good. I was able to get rid of them. They are the worse company ever. If your mortgage is sold to them, I suggest you refinance with someone else. Carrington Mortgage is an awful company. They should be reported to whomever can dissolve them. Oh, I had to give a rating 1 star to be able to continue. It should be no star/0 rating. They don't deserve and should not get anything.

If I could give NEGATIVE STARS I would. I cannot begin to explain ALL the problems I have had with Carrington since Chase sold my mortgage in November 2016. I'll make it simple for everyone. If I wrote the full details of the issues it will turn into a book! First payment due, 12/1/2016. Never received a letter or had any indication in my online account that I was setup with Autopayment. I made a mortgage payment on MONDAY 11/28/2016. Received letter on SATURDAY 12/3/2016 that on THURSDAY 12/1/2016 my mortgage payment would be auto-debited. Note, that is TWO mortgage payments in one week. AFTER both payments are made my online account stated that the next payment was due on 2/1/2017. They appear to acknowledge the double payment, so they will skip a payment in January.

On Friday 12/30/2016, escrow analysis is posted online with an escrow shortage. On Tuesday 1/3/2017 I make the escrow shortage payment online WITH the rep on the phone. She puts in a request for the funds to be applied towards escrow. On 1/1/2017, I was auto-debited AGAIN another mortgage payment, although they said the next payment was 2/1/2017. I called and LUCKILY received a refund check within 2 weeks. Two weeks after escrow shortage was PAID, my online account said the funds were applied towards the PRINCIPAL NOT ESCROW. Which means in two weeks my mortgage payment is going up almost $100. I called for two weeks, spoke with different reps, sups and departments, no one could give me an answer as to when the funds would be transferred to escrow and new escrow analysis would be complete.

On 1/31/2017, I made one last effort to RAISE HELL to have the funds and escrow analysis completed before the mortgage payment was due on 2/1/2017. Supervisor said he'd do everything possible to have it done by end of day 1/31/2017. He called at the end of the day to confirm everything was complete and informed me of the new mortgage amount. I confirmed online and it did in fact reflect the correct amount. GREAT!

On 2/1/2017, I checked my online BANK Account and to my lovely surprise I was auto-debited the incorrect amount!!! It was if I NEVER paid the ESCROW SHORTAGE. I Called Carrington who said there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO. They could NOT refund me the difference, they can ONLY refund me the FULL mortgage payment amount which means I would be reported to the credit bureau for a LATE PAYMENT. The supervisor said the ONLY thing I could do was to provide them with a copy of front/back of the check and copy of bank statement... Now, let's think about this; she wants a copy of a check...???!! THE PAYMENT WAS AUTO-DEBITED!!! WHAT CHECK IS THERE TO SHOW???!!! This company are a bunch of thieves and take your money and do as they please with it!!! Run from this P.O.S. company!!! From day one I've had issues with them and I've only been with them since November 2016!!!

Educate customer about policies and procedures and reason you are not able to grant what customer is requesting.

And this review is based in the only 2 calls that I have made to them... So I do believe they all need a customer service training so they can become more effective... English is my second language but my experience with customer service is over 25 yrs customer service management and sales... I am very disappointed that BOA sold my account to this company. November of 2016, Bank Of America notifies me that they have sold my mortgage to Carrington, which will be handling the account as of December 2nd. I call B of A to confirm the info & payment requirements. I am informed that I and my mortgage are in a 60 day grace period, and there will be no penalties for late payments during that time. I wait for the letter from Carrington. Letter arrives December 16th, the day before my payment would be considered late if I were not in a grace period. I go online & pretty easily set up my online account and make the first payment to Carrington. At that time, I also learn that Carrington gives me until the 16th of each month to make my payment before a late fee is applied. It took them 3 business days to finally take the payment.

Fast forward to January 9th, 2017. A member of Carrington's staff calls my wife and starts demanding immediate payment or she will begin foreclosure proceedings. I get a call from my stressed out wife. I leave work to come home and call Carrington. I spoke with a very nice lady (Curcinna) who assured me that my payment would not be considered late until the 17th. I made her repeat the statement to me 2x and asked her to put comments in my account to the effect of our conversation. I then ask her to find out who called my wife with the heavy handed language & threats. She was unable to do so, and she was completely confused why anyone would have called us considering that we were still in the "grace period" after loan transfer. I end the call, confident that this was a one time screw up.

The following week I receive a letter from Carrington about our allegedly "late" payment & that they will not hesitate to foreclose on us. In the same letter, were the facts that the payment is due on the first and it is not considered late until after the 16th. CONTRADICTION IN THEIR OWN LETTER! I went online on the 13th & made payment for January 2017. It took Carrington until the 17th to finally take the money from my Bank of America account! Do these people not have computers and an internet connection? I can upload a video to YouTube & have it up in under an hour. I will be seeking re-fi with my credit union and happily rid myself of Carrington's strongarm methods. Why hasn't the feds shut these clowns down?

Citibank sold my mortgage to Carrington Mortgage Service February 2016. They notified me about one month prior and advised me that Carrington will contact me with acct. no. information. They assured me the terms of my loan and the monthly payments will be the same. I sent my February payment to Citi, since I had yet to hear from Carrington. Citi transferred the payment to Carrington. Finally, Carrington sent me the expected letter, however, the monthly payment was approximately $30 more. I promptly called, and was advised that the difference was mortgage insurance. I insisted that I am not assessed that fee. After five days, I followed up, and it was finally resolved -- had to insist that I get the proper amount in writing.

Now I am refinancing my loan with my bank. I just got notified by my new lender that the principal payoff amount is actually more than $1000 more than the payoff amount in October! The lender recommended that I contact Carrington, because there is no way my principal amount should be more in January than in October. I followed through with Carrington and have been bounced around. The rep said he had no idea, maybe my escrow account. I said, "no". My real estate taxes were paid in December 2016 for the tax year 2017 (and that is only $500). My homeowner's insurance was paid up in May 2016. I changed insurance companies! Now I have been referred to "Research Department", however, must fax my inquiry and provide "proof" that they have overcharged me. Looking at the feedback on this company, I smell "class action".

They never sent a "welcome letter" until 90 days after they asked over the phone to pay them or they will fall behind on their mortgage and lose their home, but because the payment increase significantly my parents wanted to see the changes in writing. On the phone CMS said their Mortgage interest rate increase to 7%, which was impossible for them to pay because they are retired on a fixed budget.

In Nov 2016 they had to refinance because the payment was too high and they could not afford it. The mortgage broker sent confirmation fax numerous times to CMS requesting information to close their modification with a new mortgage company. CMS said they never received the documents, it took weeks for them to actual confirm receipt of documents and then said it will take 5 business days to complete and get back. The mortgage broker ask to at least confirm over the phone with my parents that all payments were made on time because they did not report anything to the credit bureaus since they had the loan. They said no, they won't even confirm over the phone with my parents any information and they will have to wait 5 days for the documents to return.

When the documents were return in 5 days my parents were advise to call CMS and tell them they will report them to the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Board http://www.consumerfinance.gov/) and then they sent the information right away. This company is very unprofessional and violated my parents consumers rights. My parents are closing on their modification tomorrow but will be reporting CMS to the CFPB immediately! I advise everyone else to do so also to stop them for taking advantage of consumers.

Chase sold my mortgage to Carrington Mortgage Services. Chase refused to take my Nov payment because they were in the process of selling to Carrington. I placed a call to Carrington to set up payment because I didn't want it to be late. Carrington told me they were still working on the turnover on the 15th of Nov and to just send the payment on the first of Dec. I used my bank's bill pay system like I have done for every payment I have made in the last 8 years. They sent payment on the first for Nov. On the 2nd of Dec I sent another payment for the month of Dec. On Jan 1 I sent a payment for Jan.

YESTERDAY Jan 10, I received a certified letter that they had received the Dec 1 and Dec 2 checks. The money is not in my account. The letter was in Spanish, and informed me that foreclosure proceedings would start on Jan 12th if not resolved. I have spent over 2 hours on the phone trying to clear this up, and nobody will call me back for an update. Should I hire a Lawyer? I sent them bank statements and tracking info to show the payments were received. Still no word.

Carrington owes us $1043.74 from our escrow. We refinanced with another company in October 2016. Loan was paid off November 1, 2016. We informed them that the new mortgage company was paying the taxes. They waited until November 15th to send in a check to the treasurer's office which is after we contacted them about owing us money from escrow. The treasurer's office refunded the money back to them on December 9, 2016. Today we are told that Carrington received the money back on December 29, 2016 but has not processed it yet. They state that the funds now goes back into escrow then a check will be issued to us. I explained we no longer have an escrow account as the loan has been paid but they stated this is how they do business. They cannot give a date as to when we can expect to receive our money either. We are going to seek legal counsel if we don't receive our funds back by January 19, 2017.

My loan was sold to these clowns from BOA and I have had terrible experiences with them from day one. Their 'automated' phone system is designed to annoy customers enough that they are hoping we'll just hang up and leave them alone. I have never had less than 40 MINUTES of wait time when calling. And often, once I get an actual human, they are clueless as to what is going on with my account. They simply transfer me to someone else who ALSO doesn't know what's going on.

I don't understand what is going on in this company. We have the internet. CSRs and managers should be able to look in a computer system and see what is going on with their clients. They should be able to log their interactions with us. They should be able to communicate with one another. But every time I call Carrington, I get the sense that every person working there is sitting in a cubicle by themselves on an island, surrounded by static. I understand that the people in customer service are making minimum wage and could not care less about me or any of their other customers. But CARRINGTON SHOULD. People calling for help should not be treated so poorly. This company should be deeply ashamed of the way it treats its patrons. I cannot wait to pay off my mortgage and NEVER have to deal with this company again.

It looks like more of the same. I reached to Carrington on December 27, 2016 and let them know that I would like to pay $24,000.00 on mortgage account. They let me know that the amount could not exceed $9,999.99 in a 24 hour period and the could process the payments for a fee of $15. I let the representative know that I would do it online before I gave them $15 a payment. The CSR let me know that she would put a note on the account that I was going to make three payments totaling $24,000. I let her know that I would be making two payments of $9,999.99, one on the December 27, and one on December 28 and another on one on December 29 for $4000.02. She said she had entered the message on my account. I also let her know that I would be making a payment for $1200 on December 30 and that I would pay the loan off on February the 1st.

The first two payments of $9,999.99 were applied to the principal. The payment of $4000.02 was not applied to the principal. The payment was applied to three advance monthly payments. My balance on my mortgage at this point should been less than $2,2000. Instead it was well over $3,000.00. I immediately called Carrington and let them know that the payment of $4,000.02 was not applied to the principal as per our agreement. She looked it up and said that the account was flagged and that the total amount of $24,000 should be applied to the principal. She said that there was no way that should of happened. So I asked her to reverse the payment and apply it to the principal.

She told me that this would take up to twenty days. I refused to believe that it would take twenty days to reverse a payment and in the meantime. I asked her to send me an email stating that the payment would be reversed and applied to the principal so I would have some type of recourse if this did not happened. She said that they did not have any email and that she couldn't send me any type of communication that would state what we agreed would happen to the funds. She went on to tell me that one payment would have to come out of the $4000.02 for January or I would have to make a payment by January 1. I told her that if I did that it would mean that two payments would be applied to monthly payments instead of just one. She said if I didn't make a payment before the other money was taken care of I would be charged a late fee.

At the end of the day judging by the reviews this what I see. I had a little over a thousand dollars applied to interest and an escrow account. The escrow account I do not need as the loan was to be paid off February 1. It is more than likely going to take a while to reverse the payment which is going to lead to more interest and more money going to an escrow account. Wonder how long it is going to take to get my money back from the escrow account? Be extremely aware of how this mortgage company operates to squeeze every penny out of their customers. Never thought it would be this difficult to pay off a loan.

The entire industry is flawed and companies like this one are the product of questionable business practices that are allowed to run rampant and unchecked. I ended up with these people after my mortgage was with some company called Ideal, then given to Chase and then they dropped me with these crooks.

First of all all this bouncing from place to place should be stopped, but anyway I got behind a ear or so ago and asked them repeatedly for a modification which they denied several times. They didn't grant me one until I stopped answering the phone and let it get worse, then all of a sudden it was their idea and I magically got it. I recently got a month behind and almost every day they had someone out here snapping pictures and popping up on my doorstep. I was able to enjoy a small victory when the man they sent proceeded to try to call them and force me to talk to them after I told them they were closed (Saturday) and he had the same look of frustration that I have worn so many times when dealing with these idiots. Awful hours for an awful company, when will the madness stop. Hopefully they will one day ship me off to someone better!

I've been running about 30 days due to loss of income but was going to get caught up in January because I would get more hours. On the 3rd I had no information from Carrington to be able to pay my payment. I called them with a phone # provided by BOA. The rep was very nice but told me not to worry, not in system yet. Call back 13th-15th. I did. Set up a payment and another for the 3rd of next month and offered them the next one but they said not necessary. Told them my plan. All ok. Also they said I would not be receiving statements because of a previous bankruptcy. I questioned that but was told not to worry. I can fax a request to get them. They have since sent other correspondence. Doesn't seem to be a conflict there.

Yesterday I received a certified letter dated the 13th saying if I didn't make the 2 payments by the 6th they may foreclose. So it was sent out during a time that I couldn't even pay the account. No leeway for the fact that they weren't set up to take payments or have an account # assigned yet. I asked them if it was sold to them so they could foreclose. Beginning to look like it.

Recently, one of my property's mortgage service was sold from Chase to Carrington. We were disappointed initially as we had a lot of our accounts with Chase and it provided convenience, plus we thought we were with a reputable bank. We waited and waited to hear from Carrington or get a statement from them and never did; so we sent a check payment in for our next due mortgage payment based on our schedule with Chase. We learned after we received our first statement from Carrington that Chase had transferred our auto pay withdraw information as well to Carrington and Carrington took it upon themselves to withdraw a payment from our account. So, right before Christmas, we made two mortgage payments! Awesome, right? Doesn't everyone try to double down on mortgage payments right before Christmas?

So, then when my wife calls in to speak to them on her day off, they inform her that they cannot speak to her as she is not on the mortgage loan account (yet they can withdraw from her joint checking account without her authorization no problem). When I called in, they told me the reason they could not talk to her about was because they were protecting my information. Nice, now who is protecting my asset (checking and savings) information?

I don't even have any checks -- don't use checks. Who does this? None of my banks or other creditors have requested such antiquated methods.

Furthermore, I never receive any late payment notices. In my opinion this all means one thing -- they like collecting Late Fees. This is not a customer oriented, or should I say customer friendly, company. I am very unhappy with them to the point of possibly refinancing my home in order to move my account to a better organization. Although I never banked with them, I have never had a problem with having to call them about my mortgage issues. Which were always about my property taxes not being input correctly. One phone call each time this happened was all it took though for them to correct the right amount I would owe each month on my payment. Then Bank of America sold my loan to this horrible company Carrington Mortgage. Let me just say that last year this company made me pay an overage of $200 + for 3 months when I did everything I possibly could without flying there myself and putting my own copy of my property taxes in their faces and just standing there waiting for them to rectify the situation.

It took another 3 months for them to pay me back all the money they took. This time it was an escrow shortage issue. So I sent in the amount they said I needed to, to keep my payment right. Again they keep repeating that it takes "15 business days" for the escrow analysis to run. It's been 25 this time. They sure did deposit my money "15 business days" ago. Yet I still have to pay the ridiculous amount over what it is normally supposed to be because they can't do their jobs. They are horrible with customer service, their escrow dept is run by slow people who don't care about us, the people who, because of their lack of decency and don't respect that we have to overpay out of our pockets each time they don't do their jobs and it's a hardship on our bank accounts. I was told again today that it will take another "15 business days" for the escrow analysis to come back.

That for now I will have to overpay on my loan and they can't tell me when I will get my money back for the overage. They sure didn't take this long to deposit my money. I hate this company with every ounce of my being. I miss Bank of America. I hate them both. One for being horrible with people's money and the other for selling my loan off to this Carrington Mortgage, who should be sued for stealing their client's money. I am fuming mad at them and want to be done with them so bad.

Next service person, "Oh no... you need this packet about an inch thick. They forwarded me a new packet this time by email but would not put in the body of the email letter what they needed.

Delay 2. So now my HOA is starting to threaten me to pay the roofer because of the delay. I get the packet and send the new packet to the president of the HOA and do my part. Get all the information requested signed and send. Delay 3. Incorrect dates on a affidavit. I'll take this hit. Resent corrected information. Called to verify receipt and told it will take another 3 weeks or so for processing our final check that belonged to us in the first place. Delay 4. Looked to me the delay was to make interest on our check as it sat in their bank account. So now we are waiting for them to delay this check so a lame excuse.

All this delays raises many questions for me. I wish I could change companies without refinancing but I just refinanced with them prior to this incident. Also having insurance issues with the same Townhome. They are not a good company to work with. My opinion is use another company. Any ideas on how to change without refinancing? Carrington Mortgage sucks as a company and is a even worse employer. Their Westfield IN location lacks structure, they don't follow their own rules, policies or guidelines. They don't care about their employees which is why their employees provide the crappy customer service they do when you have to call even for the simplest thing you receive attitude almost always from all their employees so you can tell they are not happy. Carrington is reactive when it comes to fixing problems which they cause instead of being proactive.

Their system is a joke and has so many issues and their online system rarely works as there are known delays at the beginning of every month causing you to make your mortgage payment late outside of the 1st of month and their company is aware of the issue for several years now but has yet to fix the problem because they don't care about their customers. It takes 20-30 business days to receive a refund even if the error was caused by Carrington. They discriminate against their employees as everyone is not treated the same and all rules don't apply to every employee and they look for reason to fire their employees instead of assisting them improve.

If you ever thought about working for Carrington "DON'T", if you ever thought about taking out mortgage with Carrington or if your mortgage gets transferred to Carrington please refinance somewhere else as you will be unhappy your entire mortgage as it will take Carrington close to 3 weeks from the time your loan was transferred before they even have access to your loan to provide you with anything and possibly prevent you from closing/selling your home as well due to their own delays, no fault of your own.

Went online the following Monday and it told me that my account was invalid so I called. Their phone system is a nightmare, it takes a LOT of time just to speak to a human. They checked my account and it turns out that I was given the wrong account number the week before.

After correctly signing in my account showed my December payment overdue which I had made to Bank of America the previous month (the letter from BOA said that I would start making payments to Carrington beginning Jan. 1, 2017). I was put on hold for a while and when the person returned he said that there was a mistake and he applied my payment, and could start making payments through the website. (I pay half payments every 2 weeks on my payday and told him this.)

I signed back into the website and tried to make a payment, but it refused anything but a full payment and still showed me delinquent for December. I called again and played the phone game, and again was told that I was still delinquent. I tried to explain the previous conversation and the BOA payment which was applied but the person did not see it, she then told me that it takes a few days to process the BOA payment. It seems that information is a scarce commodity at Carrington. I have read about Carrington's lack of customer service and the first day experienced it myself, the cost of a refinance with another bank may be worth not having to deal with Carrington's nightmares.

Also, I never sent in the form to authorize payments, but they said Chase had sent the info to them (is this LEGAL???). The lady said she would cancel it as all they needed was 3 business days to cancel it. Well, on December 12, the payment was pulled from my bank account. I called them and asked them to refund my money immediately. They said it would take up to 15 business days. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I was transferred to a "senior specialist". I asked him if he was a supervisor and he said no. After speaking with him for a few minutes, I had to ask for a supervisor as this "senior specialist" could not give me hardly any new information than the previous rep.

I FINALLY spoke with a supervisor named Shona (ID **). She informed me that I am one of 10,000 clients who made double payments (when in reality, I made ONE payment, and they essentially stole money from my bank account without my permission). She also mentioned that they "do this all the time" (meaning they buy mortgages). It's hard to believe they do this all the time, yet have no clue how to service these clients or accounts. This is a MAJOR error on their part.

She said that she has to tell me it could take up to 15 business days but will likely be less. I told her I work in the financial services industry and a standard ACH takes no more than 3-5 business days. She said because they have to use an outside bank, it takes longer, but that my request has been expedited. And still with it being expedited, she could only give me a 15 day timeline.

The customer service was terrible. They gave me wrong information on 2 occasions - a. They told me my payment would not be auto-drafted; b. They said they would cancel the auto-draft since I made a manual payment based on their previous information. It's a shame they are stealing money from people right before Christmas.

My husband and I have happily had a mortgage with Bank of America for 9 years, never late... not once, all of a sudden I can't pay online and no one will speak to me b/c for some reason only my husband can speak on the account??? Really, my husband??? He has no clue about the bills. He is a police officer and not able to chat to anyone during 9-5 hours about mortgage payments. So needless to say I couldn't log on, I couldn't make an automated payment b/c I didn't know what number my loan was. Everyone I entered was wrong and no one would speak to me. Needless to say after a few days of trying to get it in before the "Late fee" would be incurred... it was incurred...

How convenient and now for the past three months I can't access my account online b/c I was late ONCE... are they joking... I get harassing calls from the same ONE guy every month. I try to make payment arrangements and they charged me $15 extra each month to pay over the phone... I had no other option?!? I keep getting all these certified letter cards in my mailbox. I don't have time to get to the post office, and they know most people don't have that time and that's why they do it!!!

They even had a guy come the very first time I was late to deliver me a certified letter. He had to come into my home to call Carrington and give them some number and when he did the lady had NO clue what he was even referring too. The guy was embarrassed as he said this happens all the time to good people and he is not sure why they make him deliver letters when you are literally late once?! I keep paying more and more and more and no one allows me to access my actual statement online??? The CURRENT statement... the one I get in the mail is ALWAYS out of date and after I make a payment, I should be able to see what I owe and WHEN I owe it, not have to rely on certified mail!!!

This company aka Bank of America/Carrington has by far exceeded illegal practices for taking your home. You are set up with a unique identifier when you call they know who you are. They will pass you off to some attorney that claims to work for you. They don't. They get paid by bank as well... You pay them a monthly fee. Then they hit you up with, "Okay we need 5,000 from you now to go to court". Well hmm let me twinkle my nose and see if that works. Ahh I wouldn't be here in the first place if it was like that. I'm pissed I'm infuriated with the actions from Carrington and their liaisons!! You are wrong!! You claim the last appraisal in the file was the one used on loan. You are wrong????And how can you change the property described in property records room. It's 1 1/2 bath not 3. It's a quad level!!

Not tri how can you create your own mortgage in place of existing mtg to cover crap up. And what was the point to have me think I could move back in and think I worked out an agreement with you only to have my heart crushed and think I was getting my home back. Why the hell didn't you f/c when you got service orders. O that's right. You had to cover Bank of America's crap. No home is safe anymore??? And it's sad the courts are just letting this happen in Kentucky (I hope your state will protect you from wrong doing) ripping the heart out of the American Dream. O and beware of the scam of them holding your mail. They put you on a service the same as bank protection so you don't get your mail. I'm sure there's more I could go on about.

My experience is similar. It has cost me over $35 to overnight my payment as I have been a credit manager for over 40 years and every company asks you to send the statement with your payments. In consulting professionals I found that the VA has previously covered Carrington's foreclosure expenses but whether I can stop this to prevent Carrington from cashing in with foreclosures at the VA's expense remains to be seen, a debt collector usually wants to cash in and it appears to be the reason for not properly recording and posting payments and sending statements. If you cannot let me know if your loan is VA on this site you are welcome to email me at **.

When our mortgage was sold two months ago to Carrington I was obviously disheartened. I loved the bank that was servicing the account but don't owe enough for me personally to justify a refinance. I got the letter a month and a half before my next payment was due, as I have made it habit to pay my mortgage almost two months in advance. Even though the letter from the old account servicer stated that Carrington would not be able to service the loan until November 2nd, I didn't waste any time. Immediately calling Carrington to get the details as to when I could make my next payment, when I could get access to my loan online. All the details that I would need to get it set. Unfortunately I was informed that I would not be able to gain access to my loan until at least the 10th of November. Even with this, the loan would be allowed a 60 day grace period in case it did not get set up in time.

This is my only complaint so far. No offense but I have never been late on my Mortgage payment and I don't intend to be now. So, on the 10th of November I checked online and called and still my account was not complete. Finally on the 16th, everything was ready to go online and I was able to schedule my monthly payment through the online system. So far, everything seems to be ok? Payment shows as posted and processed. However, I have heard people with complaints after this time so we will see if we can continue to get success.

I will say that so far, everyone I have spoken to has been nice and considerate. I know that they are just doing a job and may not be able to fix everything immediately. Crossing my fingers that everything continues smoothly? I will update if anything happens in the future. I just wish the process wasn't so time consuming. It shouldn't cost me this much of my personal time to continue to pay a mortgage that has been paid religiously for over 10 years without delay.

Your website states the following: "Our values, built on integrity, transparency and equity, enable us to select, employ and fully retain the 'best and brightest' Mortgage Professionals." But that statement is false. Your company lies and deceives people which has now caused financial hardship and unhappiness. Your company is the example of why people do not trust mortgage companies and why the government has investigated mortgage companies for lies and unethical lending practices.

This is my complaint: We put our home up for sale and we signed a contract with Mr. and Mrs. **, with the condition they sell their home. The ** put their home up for sale and accepted an offer from Mr. and Mrs. **, who we were told was approved by your company. The closing was scheduled for November 22nd. Last week Ericka stated the loan was being delayed due to she could not find an Appraiser. Mr. and Mrs. ** were trying to have Thanksgiving in their new home. They had family coming in to celebrate their new home, so the realtors found an Appraiser that could do the appraisal on Monday 11/21 and try and have the report by the 22nd so we could all close by the 23rd. Last night Saturday the 19th our Realtor called us to say that the Loan Office said to cancel the appraisal because it was never about the appraisal... Mr. and Mrs. ** were NEVER approved. Ericka had lied all along.

Now Mr. and Mrs. ** have to put their home back on the Market during the holidays which means they may not get an offer and now we are trying to find out how we can make the payment on this home and our current home, and it is Christmas time and that means we cannot buy any Christmas gifts for our children and if we also have to make payments in January I don't know how we can do that. This is totally cruel and Ericka has hurt a lot of people, caused The ** to not move into their home for the holidays and have caused us to not have any Christmas for our family because we have to find any money we can find to make 2 mortgage payments. How dare your company do this to people. We are human being. We don't deserve any of this. Your company is horrible.

After calling for two months to find out how much and who to send our payment to with the same answer of "Don't worry about" from multiple different people they finally sent us a letter that our mortgage was behind and we should do a home modification. What a joke! We were told so many times that it took a while for them to process this and not to make any mortgage payments during this process. We could call Carrington and wait an hour on hold to receive and answer that our paperwork was all there and being processed. I would then hang up and call again and get the answer that they were missing paperwork and to send them new papers.

During this time we were continuously told that they would not take any mortgage payments. I could not believe this so I sent them some payments and had them returned. Long story short they put my family's home and site of our business in foreclosure. When we took them to court yesterday they misplaced all of our phone conversations and said our payments were returned because of a routing number Problem. We now owe 30,000 dollars more for our house than when we bought it. This company needs to be stopped. If you can, get away from them. Help please.

I feel like I could sign my name to just about all of these complaints! Currently I am DEALING with them and have been since April of 2016. I intend and encourage others to follow through with the necessary steps to have a Class Action Suit brought against them. My mortgage was bought by Carrington on 11/04/14 from Citi. Everything seemed okay until the end of March of this year (2016). We paid our regular mortgage on time as we always have without fail despite not receiving a statement. When we contacted Carrington, they said they would send it. They had NOT sent a statement. Every month since then we have paid our mortgage on time without fail, again still without receiving a statement while continuously requesting one and being told it would be mailed next month.

On 08/09/16 we made another request for paper statements. We were told it would be sent. On 10/13/16 we received a Certified Letter with a Notice to Foreclose that was mailed on 10/07/16. They had received and cashed all payments we had made on time. However, this time when I called I was told that we did not make the full payment for September or October! Apparently our mortgage went up but they could not contact us to let us know because we were in Bankruptcy in 2011. That was 4 YEARS before they bought our mortgage. The payment we made in September was not applied (put in escrow) until they received the full payment which they took out of our October payment. Then they put our October payment in unapplied (escrow) because that was now not a full payment. We had NO idea our mortgage even went up.

Customer Service not only gave me excuse after excuse, but transferred me around to one rude person after another. I was told several times that they could not help me. I would need to talk to the Bankruptcy Department. The Bankruptcy Department would NOT even take my call because I was not in active Bankruptcy. Finally after getting a Senior Rep, I was told then that our statements would be expedited. I paid the payment balance right then and there which was confirmed. My account was up to date! SO I THOUGHT!

Conveniently for them now we were receiving all sorts of paperwork in the mail. This was now October. I was under the impression that everything would be okay, but THEY ARE NOT! We paid our November payment on time. This had a late charge added to it for the October payment despite that being waived. We immediately paid it so there would not be any more problems. Both checks cleared! One on 11/05/16 and one on 11/07/16. HOWEVER! Our statement says that there is another late fee on our account so our November payment is being held in escrow (unapplied) until we pay another late fee. Our November payment is NOT even late yet!

This company is beyond ridiculous and CRIMINAL! PLEASE do what you can to get the ball rolling on a Class Action Suit against Carrington so that this does not continue. I will be following through at my end. However, I must now take a break to rest up for the battle I face on Monday morning to try right the current wrong. Thanks for your time.

I called them on 19OCT2016 for instructions on how to send the check for endorsement. I was told to send it to the Anaheim office in CA attn of LOSS DRAFT. I was also told if I sent it next day and include a prepaid label with envelope they would process it, sign it and send it back just as fast. I believed her. The next day I went to UPS and mailed the check, contract and initial estimate for repairs to the roof. Sent it as Next Day along with the prepaid label and envelope. 21OCT received noticed it was delivered and signed by "Debbie". Alright, things should be rolling along. Few days go by prepaid label not showing up as being processed. Called them 26OCT 5:20pm CST. Was advised it was mailed out and I should get by end of week.

I was not able to track the UPS label. Called 27OCT 9am CST. Spoke with a woman who said the prepaid label was rejected and the check was not sent out. She quickly volunteered to connect me to the LOSS DRAFT section. Spoke with Craig at about 9:20 am CST. He confirmed the label was rejected. The check is currently being processed and should take 3.-5 days. He could not answer, when I said I have a notice the items were signed for by a Debbie on the 21st of OCT and another rep told me it was sent to me on 26OCT. He replied they have 3-5 days to process from the day they receive it. I told him it was received on the 21st and it is now the 27th. He said they still have time.

Called the LOSS DRAFT on the 28th and spoke with a woman who said nothing new. She was able to see the prepaid label and envelope but nothing on the check. She asked me if the prepaid label has my address, I advised her it had the address of the UPS store, because I knew it would arrive while I would be at work. She directed me to send email authorizing Carrington to send it to the address using the items I had provided. I did so as soon as we got off the phone. Called the morning of the 29th to see if they had received the email - nope. Was told it would take up to 24 hrs before they would be able to see it (WTF!). I was also told I would need to send the authorization as an attachment to an email. Ok, I resend as an attachment... I called on 30th to see if they can see the email I sent on the 28th - nope.

I called on 01NOV to see if any email can be seen and where is my check? No email, check is being processed by another section because it is from a different company. Was advised to call back the next day, should have news. Called on 02NOV. Spoke with Kaitlynn who advised no emails are displaying on the account. Check is being processed by another person. She offered to speak with her supervisor who advised her the person who takes care of those type of checks was not at her desk and did not know when she would be. Called later on in the afternoon and was told the check was most likely received on the 21st and transferred to the new location in Nebraska. Oh goodie! A new chapter begins. I am not sure the results of the BBB complaint I filed, since the BBB office at that county gave them an A+. I will most likely call them every day... if you have choice...

Just venting on Consumer Affairs is not enough. More is needed. My personal experience is that as of September 1, 2016. My loan was under $3,000.00 and it was sold to Carrington MS. Just like all of you the transition was not smooth. As soon as I was able to acquire a loan number I started to expedite the paying off of my loan which was accomplished by October 15 2016. I paid electronically and with cashier checks. I sent checks by way of Fedex to track when items were received. The payment specifically stated principal only payments and nothing pertaining to my account was in arrears.

The payments were not made as principal only. I was told it would take some time 15 days to correct. I have since then faxed letters to C.E.O Mr. Bruce Rose and Senior V.P. of Operations Mr. Jeff Gillis. I have not been contacted yet. I have also faxed to the numbers which you can find online. I would ask all of you to do that also. For Texas residents you can contact Ken Paxton our Attorney General, and let him know what has taken place between BoA, Carrington and you. Also, it would behoove all of us to contact the BBB for Anaheim California and Loretta E. Lynch the U.S. Attorney General about this company.

Venting is not enough and Consumer Affairs may give us a place to document what has transpired in our personal lives but more needs to be done. Now are you ready to take the time and make the steps to collectively complain, to a source that can possibly make a difference? I have the fax numbers which I got from the Carrington MS Site. Carrington owes me money. My loan is paid off and I need my escrow money to pay my taxes. This is a same that they have done this to so many U.S.Citizens however there has to be a recourse. If anyone else has any other suggestions as to how we can help one another please document. We need to do more than vent we need to use the avenues that are out there for us to gain restitution.

I researched and discovered that Carrington has a poor record and have scammed many hard working Americans. I read a complaint by one woman who said her loan was previously service by New Century Financial (poor service) then was sold to Carrington (even worse). I wanted her to know that these two companies are one in the same.

These companies file bankruptcy and change their names around. I am researching to find out the connection between Chase and Carrington or Bank of America. (Is Carrington a subsidiary?) I am trying to be proactive after hearing many of the complaints filed by Americans. It is October 22, 2016. The change is scheduled to take place on November 2 2016. Unfortunately, after having read many books about the corruption in our federal government, FDA, banks, pharmaceutical companies, and overall decline in honesty in America I don't expect much from these institutions. I prayed for God's help. I will keep you notified.

I tried to get a loan with Carrington Mortgage and at first they said I was approved for a loan and told me to start putting in offers for houses. When we couldn't find anything they told us that they would need to run our credit again in order to update their files. We were still within 3 months of our pre-approval. They ran it again and this time they told us that they wouldn't be able to help us which makes no sense to me when our credit didn't change. The guy we spoke with pretty much said "we need to manage our finances better before he can help us out." I was offended because we were late on a couple car payments due to health issues. But he didn't care nor did he give us any compassion. I will never deal with this company ever again.

For several years we have owned a home with a loan that was eventually sold to Carrington Mortgage. No problems for a while. Until we moved. Then Carrington could not seem to get our new address put into their records... despite notes and phone calls, months went by with them sending the payment notices to the wrong address. Finally, one payment hit the 30 day late bracket and, on the occasion of our applying for another loan, we found they had caused a ding in our credit score, resulting in a 70 point reduction.

I called (again) to complain, explain, and request a removal or adjustment of their adverse credit report. In short, they would not do it. And told me that I could submit a letter requesting reconsideration for which they would take action and respond to "within 30 days". Three months later, they have not responded and, despite their adverse credit report, we refinanced and closed today.

Recommendation: Stay away from this company like the plague!!! All you have to do is look at the incredible number of complaints similar to mine to see that they should be defendants in a class action lawsuit and removed from the banking business altogether. I hope we can get some justice out of this company's pathetic attempt at business.

I want to apply that check and additional funds and pay off the loan. Staff were unable to give me answers, drilled me with unimportant questions, and hung up on me. I was told to send an email for answers. When I sent the email as directed, the response was, "Call the 800 number." I guess it will take another several hours to get the help I deserve. AVOID this company, which interestingly, answers the phone like a collection agency, rather than a mortgage company.

When Bank of America sold my loan to Carrington, it began the beginning of underhanded late fees and charges and continued discourteous services. I pay my mortgage from one bank to another at least usually 6 days in advance, once 10 days and still keep getting late feels from Carrington. I feel they are operating a scam and many of us mortgage lenders have been victimize and would like to initiate an investigation and class action suit. I'm thinking they are not opening the mail timely, they have selected Bank of America loan holders and are scamming us as I seen many of you having the same issues since the transition.

Ive written them and I think they screw up your credit to disable you from getting good scores and leaving you a forced choice to remain with them. I have verified my bank send out dates and it just can be they are getting things late. Furthermore they raise the mortgage amount and don't tell you, so if you are on a recurrent pay system you are automatically late. I've had an unblemished record prior to the load transfer and am disappointed that no one has opened up a law suit. I'm not trying to but I'm sick and tired of what's transpiring here. There is something very wrong going on here. I'm hoping consumer affairs looks into this as I too am going to make complaints to brokerage houses.

We my wife and I have lived in our current home for over twenty years and have had our account transferred from one lender to another with very little problems till we were transferred to Carrington Mortgage. The first time they cashed a check for the mortgage amount and not the extra we wrote the check for, true.

Then after that was corrected after being on the phone for over an hour we attempted to send in another payment with instruction that the remainder go to principal.

When we inquired they said they didn't know where to put it so they added some to our escrow and the rest to pay us up till December. We explained we filled out request online for it to go to principal but it didn't happen. We told the person on the phone we plan on paying off the mortgage by the end of the year and asked what we needed to do to make the final payment?

They said it had to be wired or cashier check, really you've taken all the other payments till now. It's like they are doing every thing possible to drain more money from those that have them as a mortgage company. Now, we are concerned that our money in escrow to pay our taxes and insurance might not be refunded to us in a timely manner. This is not a warm and friendly company to do business with. When you call them the recording sounds like a threat you are being recorded and anything you say can be used against you. Really how bout you cashing our check for an incorrect amount, isn't that illegal?

I have not received a monthly mortgage bill/statement since April 2016 for my May 2016 payment. In order to make a payment, I have had to make a copy of an old, out-of-date statement/bill to send my payment in. I contacted Carrington Mortgage June 2016 to let them know that, for some reason, I am not receiving a bill.

The person I spoke with, Steve, indicated to me, that Carrington Mortgage is not in compliance with bankruptcy rules and, therefore, cannot sent out bills. He indicated that they stopped sending out bills in June, which is not true because I stopped receiving them well before that. He indicated that if I wanted bills sent to me, I would need to fax in a request, which I did on two separate occasions. These requests apparently fell on deaf ears, because I have yet to receive a bill. The only thing(s) I received from them were in September 2016 indicating that my mortgage interest rate would be changing and what the new payment per month would be and also a break down as to where my payments went towards each month for the past year.

I also indicated on the copies of bills I had to make that I send in with my monthly payment that I have not been receiving my monthly statements/bills and that the requests had been faxed to the fax number provided. I also indicated to them that if I did not begin receiving them as request multiple times, that I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau, again, as well as Consumer Affairs, again. I also told them that if they were not in compliance with bankruptcy rules, what else are they not in compliance with. I have read multiple complaints regarding this company. I also told them that I would be bringing this to the attention of the attorney general of my state, as well as our country if need be.

Something is very wrong with this company. I should not have to go through all this in order to get something sent to me that should be sent. I did not opt out of having the statements sent to me! The statements/bills should be sent to me via US Mail! I cannot even print off a statement from their website as their website is not like others that I am able to print bills/statements from.

Unfortunately, I am not able to refinance my mortgage away from this company. My mortgage was sold to them from CitiMortgage a couple of years ago and it has been a nightmare ever since. The reason I cannot refinance to get away from this company is because I had to declare bankruptcy due to a divorce. It's bad enough that I had to file bankruptcy, but to have to continue to be treated the way that this company is treating me, is completely uncalled for. I feel that this company should be investigated and possibly put out of business because of the way they continue to treat the customers of the mortgages they obtained from banks.

On an updated note, I received a call from someone named Cheryl today, and she indicated to me that I would need to fax another request and include my signature and loan number, which was included on the previous faxes. She also guaranteed me that the matter would be taken care of. She also told me that since the loan was discharged from my credit, I am not obligated to make a payment which was why they no longer mailed out the statements/bills. I told that I was obligated and required to if I wanted to keep a roof over my head (as told to me by my attorney). She told me that I was not obligated and she knows an attorney who is educated. I told her that if I did not make a payment, that they would come after me and take my home. She said they would not come after me only the property. I told her that was the same thing.

She then laughed at me like I was stupid or something when I told her again what my attorney told me that I needed to continue making payments. I then told her she was ** funny and then discontinued the call. I am going to draft a letter to the attorney general in my state as this company seriously needs to be investigated. I have had only a few months with no problems until this. I really do not understand why our government can allow companies such as this to continue in business. I am sure that if enough people complain to those that matter, continually, such as attorney generals of our respective states, then something will need to be done. I am also considering sending something to the U.S. attorney general as well.

Who knows, maybe the reason why Carrington Mortgage is able to stay in business and treat people the way they do is because they are paying someone off through lobbying, etc. Just saying. I also agree that a class action lawsuit should be started. This company needs to be held responsible for the way they conduct their business, or lack thereof.

I agreed to the amount and you have to send in 3 checks within a certain amount of time or you lose out on that modification. Well, they lost the certified check, so I sent another by FedEx and Carrington claimed there was no one to sign for checks!? So by the time my check was found, another modification had to be done and guess what the amount went up by $200.00, and it took almost 6 months or longer just to get that far.

When I agreed to the modification someone was in my yard taking pictures and told us they were from the mortgage company that our home had been sold and now Wells Fargo owned it. This is after 15 years of living with a mortgage and now I have sheriffs bringing me eviction notices. I need a lawyer desperately and I have a modification paperwork saying return it by Aug. 11, 2016 and guess when our home was sold, August 2, 2016. Why then would they send us modification paperwork when our home was sold and we never would have know if it was not for the person taking picture. I have 4 children and a loss.

I am not pleased one bit with how my account is being handled. Our mortgage was originally with a bank Of America and was sold to Carrington. We fell behind on payments but submitted payments. I contacted them asking to be set up on payment arrangements to get caught up. I submitted the documents, but they said they did not receive everything that was needed. I emailed them as they highly suggested 2 x's a week until they finally said they received them. By then I was told my account wasn't active and I would have to request to have my account reinstated. What?! Are you serious!? Well Thank you Jesus, that I was blessed with a large amount of money and was able to submit payment in full in June along with my June payment.

July, 8 made my payment online. It cleared my bank, but then I noticed that it stated I owed more money. For what??? I called the representative and he couldn't explain it to me. Said that I needed to request in writing to the research department for a breakdown of my account. He also stated that I had some money in a suspended account and once my payment was received that money should be posted to my account. Didn't hear anything in August. I submitted $39 to go along with the money in the suspended account to make a full payment.

Well now September I get a notice that they intend to foreclose. For what? I submitted my payments and was not behind. According to their letter I was two payments behind. Money cleared my bank account to them so where did my money go??? I can't get a response. I sent in a letter asking where my money was, sent in proof of my payments, and completed the packet to prevent foreclosure until the account was resolved.

I am very unhappy how this company handles the accounts and the representatives cannot help me out. If there is a class action lawsuit beginning I want to be a part of it. We do not have extra money to just throw around and I don't want to continue to send them money and they are not posting it correctly. They are now charging us for attorney fees, property inspection, appraisal, and so on. Why are they charging when no court actions have begun?

I was previously two months behind and added an extra $500 to my payments to catch up. However, I called BOA to make a payment in July and was notified my mortgage had been sold. When they checked their system they saw I was notified of the change. I proceeded to contact Carrington immediately only to be greeted with the message this is an attempt to collect a debt. Going forward I explained I was calling to make a payment, they informed me they would not accept my payment. When I questioned the representative she rudely demanded I pay three months' payments totaling $4258. When I indicated I don't have that kind of money, the representative told me to borrow the money if not my home would go into foreclosure by August.

How dare my first contact with the new Mortgage company be so rude and cold. They made no attempt to set up anything and demanded the entire payment plus they continued to remind me of their intention to foreclose on my home. I have worked too hard to have a home for my children and I to allow that to happen. They called no less than twice a week initially. I feel like I was being harassed by these people and this company. They are truly stressing me out. I have contacted an Atty for consultation. If anyone decides to file a class action lawsuit please count me in. I am certainly weighing my options. This is horrible. Makes you wonder if someone at Bank of America Is part owner at Carrington Mortgage Service and this is a quick way to gain people's property. I got behind on my payments. I know it was my fault because of financial reasons. I have been trying to get a modification, or I really just want a repayment plan because I have most of the money saved up to send them if they would take payments. I have been trying for three months and they keep denying me saying that I did not submit all the documents they needed. This is 100% not true. I have submitted 53 documents to them through their website, so it's easy to see what I have uploaded. They keep telling me I need to submit the same three or four things and I keep uploading them and they keep saying they need them. Also, everyone you talk to tells you something else. Right now, they are saying that they need proof that my boyfriend lives here and I submitted a pay stub of his with the address on it. The lady on the phone told me any bill would do. I talked to someone else yesterday and they said it has to be a utility bill.

All the bills are in my name, so I can't provide a utility in his name. He was laid off from work and they said they needed his determination letter from unemployment and his pay stubs. I repeatedly told them that he has been laid off for a few months and has no recent pay stubs. He has one, so I did send that in, but he's only had one week of pay from work in about two months. So they wanted the determination letter, which I sent. Next time I talked to them, they wanted the determination letter, I sent it again. Yesterday it was the same thing. Last time I got denied. It was for not submitting the determination letter and pay stubs, which I had done numerous times. I have sent that letter five or six times and he wrote an explanation letter stating that he has been on unemployment because one of the people on the phone told me to have him write a letter.

Another time I got denied was because I did not sign a profit/loss statement that I sent them. I was not told I had to sign it. Maybe I just should have known? I have been trying to talk to a HUD counselor that I got in touch with through the HOPE program and have had some scheduled meetings on the phone with her, but when it comes time for those meetings she is out of the office. So that doesn't look too promising either. And she does not return my phone calls. I am talking with a lawyer today at 1:30 about all of this. I have done everything they have asked and it is still never enough. I just need to get a payment plan to repay some of the mortgage. I have all the rest of the money.

Updated on 11/09/2016: It has been seven months since trying to get a modification or repayment plan and I keep getting denied because they say I don't have the right paperwork, or someone tells me one document is good and to send it in and when I do someone else tells me that it was not good. I actually had one of the customer service people tell me that the people who do modifications don't have phones back there so I can't talk to anyone! I have hired a lawyer who does not seem to be helping. I have not heard from him in weeks, even though I email once a week to see what's going on with a repayment plan. I have contacted HOPE, and they told me all they could do was be on the phone with me when I call them.

I have gone to a local counselor to try to get HEMAP, or whatever it is called, but got denied because only about 8% of people get approved or something like that. I actually did get into the underwriting process with Carrington this last time, but then they said it was an incomplete packet because I did not send in pay stubs for my boyfriend for the past 30 days, because he has been laid off from his job for a little bit and only has proof of unemployment, which I was told before that would be fine and to send in proof of unemployment and determination letter, which I sent in multiple times. I have sent in more than 60 pages of documents to them over and over again.

Then they come back again with wanting to see the pay stubs. I have filed a complaint with the CFPB and am waiting for a response from them. I don't know if that does any good or not, but I have tried everything I can to get something worked out and no one seems to be very helpful with this. I have thousands of dollars that I can send them right now if they would just let me work out a repayment plan. I would only have to repay about $1500 or less of what's behind, which would be one-month payment, late fees and lawyer fees they added on if they would just take my money and work this out.

Carrington Mortgage has seemed shady since I first began with them as a result of Bank of America selling my mortgage to them. Their online pay system seems to have a great deal of troubles. I would attempt to sign in, it would not work, so I would go through the whole "get help signing in" process, which would not recognize my security answers. I have had to call about this numerous times. They used to tell me I could pay by phone, to which I would reply that they charge a fee for that service and that I should not have to pay an extra fee because they can't seem to keep their online pay system working. One time when I complained that my security answers were not being recognized, customer service told me that that system is not working, and then proceeded to do it manually. I shouldn't have had to do it at all, and I certainly shouldn't have to do it numerous times over and over, month after month.

Numerous times while waiting on hold for customer service (or maybe it was their general "friendly" call-in greeting), they would play a message saying that they were a debt collection company and that if they received the payment one day late they could report it to the credit bureaus. So I decided to call in to asked to change the due date of my loan because they seemed to have such a draconian approach to their customers about payment, and I get paid on the same day as the due date.

I have found myself traveling or in the hospital when that date came around before, so it just wasn't working for me. She told me that I actually have 15 days after the due date to pay before they report--but which statement holds up in court should they decide to change their mind? The one on the recording or the verbal statement not written anywhere on paper? Even after mentioning the lack of security I had in a verbal statement when the recorded message stated otherwise, THEY WOULD NOT CHANGE THE DUE DATE for me.

I am not happy with Bank of America for selling my mortgage to such a horrible company. If they are not swindlers, their company is incompetent at doing mortgages and no one should have sold mortgages to them in the first place. I decided that I will no longer be doing my personal banking with Bank of America because of this. When I go in to officially close my accounts (and get the few dollars out that are just sitting there now), I will be telling them why they are losing my business. What poor judgement! What poor treatment of their customers.

Our loan was sold from BoA to CMS about 2 years ago. It has been one nightmare after another. I think it's appalling BoA has done this to so many people. The first month with CMS, we received a letter saying we had an escrow deficit. Just like so many others, we did NOT have a deficit. They wanted to raise our payment nearly $100/mo. After multiple complaints and a complaint to the BBB, they decided to raise our payment half that much over 2 years instead of the full amount for 1 year. We felt there was nothing else we could do. We have been ripped off for nearly 2 years.

Over the last 2 years, we have been harassed with phone calls, sometimes more than 1 each week, trying to get us to refinance our loan with them. A "streamline" loan I believe they called it. I research this type of loan and of course it benefits nobody but CMS. They will give their sales pitch making it sound like you are getting this great deal and will save so much money. Don't believe it. Do your research! We have asked them multiple times to stop the phone calls. They just keep coming. I received another one this morning.

When you call them and are sitting on hold, a recording informs you they are a collection company and this is an attempt to collect a debt. When I complained about that, telling them I have never been late on a payment, they said they have to say that because they "do collect debts such as house payments". He said all mortgage companies do that. I told him all companies do NOT do that but it didn't do any good. These people are robots and do/say exactly as they are told in their CMS scripts.

We have also asked them to stop mailing us their refinance propaganda as we receive this on a regular basis. The only way to stop this is to write a letter and mail it. In this day and age, emailing or using their website should not be a problem. They are a company that should be shut down. I agree with the people who say we should start a class action suit. This company is a sham. Last April my mortgage was bought by CMS. I setup my bank's online bill pay to send them the payment every month, and for the first 13 months, all was fine. However, something on their end changed. July and August payments were rejected and being returned. I had no idea anything was wrong until I received the notice of intent to foreclose statement. On calling them, numerous times, I was told that the address I had entered into my bank's online bill pay was incorrect. I said that wasn't true, the first 13 payments went through just fine, so what changed. No answer, no explanation. Six different people in customer service, and not one question answered and all I got was it was my fault and nothing changed...REALLY, it sure seems like something changed?

In the end I know have to pay $116 in late fees - which apparently no one there has the power to remove - for the REJECTED payments made for July and August, not to mention have a damaged credit report for showing late mortgage payments - to which they also can't undo. I was told my only recourse is to write a letter to the customer review board, and they might possibly do something. Forgive me for not having a lot of faith in this process, because apparently this group - the only people who can actually do something in the company - doesn't have phones. If I wanted to setup a system to ignore requests, this is how I would do it.

After reading all the other horror stories with this place, I can't help but believe this isn't a coincidence. I bought my home with an FHA 203K loan to make repairs and such with the purchase of the home. This October the 5 year additional FHA MIP is up (and I will have well over 20% equity in the home) and I was planning to refi into a normal loan without the FHA MIP. Good luck now. Oh, but they will give me an FHA streamline refi - where you pay the additional MIP for the life of the loan.

They start calling me on the 5th of each month to see why I haven't paid by the 1st. I keep telling them my payments are not due until the 15th. They are charging me a MIP payment each month and will not take it off that I haven't had to pay before. My house was hit by a very bad hail storm with a lot of damage in March. Roof was leaking, windows busted out and they wouldn't sign my insurance check until I had the work completed. How can a single mom with child in college afford $40,000 to get house fixed.

Here it is August and they are still holding one of my insurance checks. I just sent them a box full of receipts, invoices and estimates. I'm trying to get my house refinanced just to get away from this company. The worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I have turned them in to the state. Good luck if you have them as your mortgage company.

Every year Carrington Mortgage makes every attempt to try to make me go to an escrow account which would drastically increase my monthly mortgage payment. They said I have not paid my property taxes last year and that they paid it. They keep opening an escrow account and start applying my payments to that escrow. Once again when I found out they had to send me my money back and close the account. But they won't admit to their illegal or wrongdoing. They made me go through sending proof of payments from my tax office which they so called lost for approximately a month. They ultimately had finally returned and fixed my account back after days and hours and hours of disrespectful phone calls accusing me of not paying my taxes.

This year they have made the same attempt again but first they said I did not pay this year, then I had to have the tax office send my 2015 tax receipts show I paid them. When I called them back they said no we have you for not paying 2014 property taxes. I said if I did not pay why did you cut me a check back and why would you allow me to pay my note for almost 2 years with no escrow. This has happened approximately 4 years in a row. I sent them last year's information again, then they said they sent $2,700.00 to my homeowners insurance company. I said that must be impossible because my insurance is monthly auto deducted. So I immediately called the insurance company they said and sent me a letter that Carrington sent them requesting my insurance declaration page as well as my payments statement.

This letter that Carrington sent to my insurance company stated that I have undergone a loan modification and I was changing from a non escrow account to an escrow account. The information is not true last year, I did inquire that information but when I found out again about the escrow account I wrote them a letter in writing that I did not want to except anything to do with the modification I will remaining paying my payments as usual. That happen in Nov 2015. I have been paying all my bills as usual and now in August 2016, 10 months later, they once again has set up an escrow account. They paid my insurance company $2,700.00 for the year. I'm furious! I told them to change it back, I'll pay them their $2,700.00 today over the phone. They said that they will not remove the escrow account until I pay all those back property taxes that don't exist.

I called my insurance company told them what was going on, ask them to to fix it back and put a note on my account to contact me of any changes to my account. July 2016, Last month I paid my monthly note with no problems all of this just started this August 2016. At this time they won't let me pay my monthly note unless I pay the entire amount $2,162.38 online. My statement says to pay $4333.76 at this time but my house note is $1,163.73/month. After the 16th of the month late fees apply. Up until this month I have been paying my note as usual. Then they recites their jargon about the account will continue to acquire late fees and possible foreclosure if I fail to make my payments.

I'm so fed up with this constant stress and harassment. I really feel that the homeowners need to come together a file a class action lawsuit against the mortgage company if they have to pay fees they will stop all this foolishness. I urge people to write BBB along with HUD RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act) and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The more action everyone takes, the less opportunity for it to continue. Finally, I do advise that everyone get the app call recordings on their phone and let them know they are being recorded so u can have proof of the call. In the long run it can be very beneficial to you! This is helpful for all calls.

He said he would prequalify me and give my realtor a letter so that I could make an offer on a house (in this competitive market here no one will accept an offer without that letter at bare minimum). He told me he needed pay stubs and W2's etc to do that. He had already checked my credit and determined me eligible for a loan and time was running out, I needed that letter before I lost the house I wanted. He never got back to me, ever! Underwriting approved me but the managers (I has several upper level managers working with me) refused to finish my downpayment assistance paperwork. I agreed to put cash down instead but was told that they needed to redo my file and appraisal. 1 month later and a team of managers still wouldn't get me to closing due to numerous delays and errors on their part. 3 days before my closing date and I'm told that they can't give me a loan and "good luck".

The level of incompetence, unethical behavior, and negligence is unbelievable. I was assured that I wouldn't lose this house or my money. Now I'm out $1,500 because these people lied to me for months on end. They're refusing to give me back my money. I have hired a lawyer and am considering taking this to a class action level if I find others who have had similar experiences. So far, I'm suing them for bad faith, breach of contract, promissory estoppel and maybe unfair trade practices.

My loan was sold to Carrington 2 days prior to the completion of a short sale through Bank of America. At the beginning, Carrington was very cooperative. I had divorced and was trying to maintain my home alone. Things became very difficult so I applied for a modification. After the modification, my note went down approximately $1. I had to send my ex spouse's information (unsure why). I guess I was fortunate because we were still on speaking terms. After going through that stress, I had to send a copy of the divorce decree and quit claim deed. Yes, this cost me money. This took place in 2013.

We are now in 2016 and I'm told, due to a change in FHA rules, another copy of a quit claim deed is needed. My home was then assigned a foreclosure date. My realtor and I applied for short sale process. We sent in several offers. Finally were told the sale was canceled (07/05/16). We called the local Sheriffs office and received verification. On Friday July 8, 2016. We were told the home was bought by Carrington. None at Carrington wants to talk about it. I'm guessing my next move is "me being tossed out on the streets." This just is not right. How can they do this and NOT CARE?

We are one of the unfortunate group of people that had our mortgage bought out by Carrington Mortgage Services. The first issues we had from them was that they forecast the escrow 60 days from payment due, whereas my previous mortgage firm used 30 days, so in essence we had a mortgage shortfall. The second issue being their online payment system which is in all honesty set up to favor them entirely. As mentioned by others, you cannot set up a bill pay or such from your own online banking system to pay them. You have to use their own system to make payments. When one pays using their online payment system, you get a "confirmation" email that you made the payment, or should I say the so called confirmation is nothing, since it does not indicate that the payment was successful or not.

Having made all our mortgage payments during the last 18 months using their system, recently we came across a problem. The problem being after payment was submitted a confirmation was sent, but after about a week or longer no payment was drawn from our checking account. Long story short they claimed that I had missed one digit when I had entered my bank account number on their website. The confirmation email surprisingly masks all numbers except the last 4 so one could not prove who was at fault, so I had to take their word for it and "suck up" the late fee as well.

Many other firms request account number and or routing numbers to be typed twice when using their website to make payment, thus minimizing the risk to customers. However this firm chose not to utilize this method, since I am sure it helps their cause with typos and brings in additional revenue for them. After my phone call with Carrington Mortgage Services, they asked if I would like to make a payment since I was late. I asked if I was going to be charged $15 pay by phone fee, they said yes, so I said no thank you.

Moral of the story, don't get mad with these bottom feeders, get mad with those that allow firms like this to operate with these type practices. From what I have read from others on here about Carrington MS, and from what I have experienced, I'd rather be dealing with a shady loan shark than these muppets. Ending on a somewhat positive note, Carrington Mortgage Services behavior has encouraged me to seek to pay off my mortgage earlier if possible or to refinance. Sorry guys, pushing (abusing customers) too hard sometimes backfires.

My previous mortgage holder was New Century (had many issues with this company). It was then sold to Carrington Mortgage Services and the problems only got worse. In a nutshell the mortgage company refused to accept my payment. I had actually mailed bank checks which they held and did not cash for 3 months. I made several attempts to resolve the situation with no success. I was sent foreclosure papers and given a case worker. A caseworker who did nothing to assist me. This man was never available to take my phone calls or return any calls. The 1 time I did get him on the phone he told me "I'm very busy and don't have time to talk on the phone. You can email me."

This went on for months. I had no choice but to now retain a lawyer. Spent money I did not have to sit in my lawyer's office for 2 hrs trying to contact anybody that could help. They constantly put us on hold and transferred us several times to no one that had any idea what my situation was. They were harassing me by phone almost every day. They would hang up if my children answered the phone. They would call and ask for my ex husband (who they were told doesn't live here several times) and when I told them he doesn't live here, they would hang up on me even though my name is on the mortgage...

I then sent letters to consumer affairs of both NY and CA, the BBB, the CEO of Carrington, Governor Cuomo, Senator Schumer and the Attorney General. NOT ONE PERSON REPLIED. At this point I've been to court to sit not with Carrington's lawyers but a mediator. Yes they sent me representation for the representation for the bank. Once again they were playing games. My lawyer constantly had issues with communicating. Example, they never got my paperwork, email or something was always missing etc... It was always something. During this whole time, even though the bank is to be speaking only to my lawyer, they cont to harass me by phone.

One time they called to ask how I wanted to handle my short sale. Funny thing. I never said I was doing a short sale. When I asked where they got this info they then hung up the phone on me. A few weeks ago I found a letter on my doorstep. No letterhead, just stated to call my mortgage co. Now I knew it was the bank because I recognized the number. For the fun of it I called. Half way into the call I said "do you people even know were in court and you're not supposed to be contacting me." CS put me on hold. When she came back on the phone she stated "because we can't speak with you, the letter came from a 3rd party."

I said "SO NOW YOU'RE HARASSING ME THROUGH A 3RD PARTY!" LOL, she hung up on me. Went to court last week and was denied a modification due to check fraud. Yes they are now accusing me/my ex husband of something that could put me in jail. They provided no proof to my lawyer or the judge. Funny thing is I work for a company as does my ex husband and neither one of us write our own paychecks. Now it's time to go to the big court and spend more money I don't have. I read all these complaints and can't understand why this bank can get away with this abuse. I am now in danger of losing my house and don't know where else to turn. I have actually resorted to contacting, lol, 7 on your side. Shame on you and anyone else I could to try and help. It's ridiculous. Any suggestions?

After a loan modification Carrington applied over $1,000 in fees and claimed we can pay them a little at a time. However, their collection tactics are borderline harassment and bullying. After the loan modification we did not receive mortgage statements and had to do several letters to finally get statements. The loan number they gave me was declared invalid on the automated phone service. Sent monthly mortgage payment via UPS and Carrington signed for the payment but didn't apply it causing our loan to go into default. It took several letters again to get Carrington to fix that issue.

Requested documentation to support the $1,000 in charges they claimed to be fees. I only received documentation to support $240 in charges and the remaining amount they claim is from Bank of America. They refuse to provide documentation for those charges and have actually said go contact Bank of America. Carrington is still demanding payment for those charges despite not having proof. I finally filed a complaint with the NYS Attorney General's Office and recommend everyone on this list do just that. You can also file a complaint with Financial banking department of your state. I am still waiting for a resolution.

I have been having financial difficulties since October 2015 however I was able to keep up my payments throughout November. December I was unable to make my payment. A week or so after the due date I contacted Carrington and ask for assistance. I was told there wasn't any. That I had up until the end of the month. I told him I didn't want to wait till the end of the month as I had never been late on my payment since Chase Bank sold my loan to them a few years before. Towards the end of December I called back again and explained that I had to leave my job due to my health issues and that I was still unable to make my payment and I needed assistance. I was told to use a program here in Florida called the Dream Home Organization. The representative even gave me the web address where to locate this organization to apply online. I did so sending all the paperwork that was required. And I waited. And I waited. And I waited.

Apparently the Dream Home Organization was not very well run and I had to constantly call back and find out what was going on. A month-and-a-half later we are now in to 2016 and it's almost February, I still don't have any income, I still have not made a mortgage payment and I find out from the Dream Home Organization that I don't even qualify for their program because I am not upside down in my mortgage. I called back to Carrington asking why I was referred to this program wasting time and resources when I didn't even qualify. The representative, of course, did not know and told me that I had to be 60 days past due before they could step in to do anything. I was furious at this point. I told them I needed help now and I didn't want to wait any longer for my credit to fall further behind. A few weeks later I received a package in the mail for loan modification request.

I sent all the information back to them with what little money I had left in my account & paid for 2 day delivery with return receipt. I tracked the package. I called them when it said it was delivered and they told me they had not received it. I called for 3 weeks every few days but nobody could find where it was. They told me I must have sent it to the wrong address or that it got lost in the mail and I needed to fill out another packet and send it in. I was told to leave messages in supervisor's voicemail boxes but nobody called me back. Finally I left a very stern message on one supervisor's voicemail & gave all the information regarding the tracking number, the person who signed for it, the date and the time it was received and said that they better find my package because I did not have anymore money to send it again. Suddenly, a miracle happened and they actually found my paperwork! It's already April 2016 at this point.

It was another week or so maybe 2 weeks that they mailed out a letter to me stating that the information was missing and it listed a bunch of items I needed to provide that was not requested in the original package. Now keep in mind the letter was dated in what I would consider a timely manner but by the time it got to me it was about two-and-a-half to three weeks later from the date that they finally received my information. I was given a fax number and an email address to send my loan modification supplemental documents into. When I tried to fax the documents the fax machine kept reporting that nobody was answering on Carrington side. I didn't have access to a scanner so I emailed the loan modification email address that I was given and explained what had happened. I requested an alternative number to fax the documents into or for suggestions on what I should do. Nobody responded.

I called in to the call center and explained the situation and asked to have my account notated that I was having issues. I called back many other times asking for another fax number they told me they only had one fax. I've spoken with numerous representatives, some whom were sympathetic and tried to help but due to their position, were unable to do anything for me. However, most of the time the representatives have been rude and condescending. I wanted to give up many times but I've gone through so much to get all this information in that when I finally was able to get to a scanner and scan all 32 pages and email them I felt like this was it. The nightmare was over & the hard part was done. I could relax. I was wrong. I then received a notification that because my documents were not received in time my loan modification request was denied. I was livid.

I called back and demanded to speak with somebody in a supervisory position that could overturn this and reopen my loan modification. There was nothing they could do they said. I would have to fill out another application because my original application was now outdated. I was also told that all my supplemental documents were fine it was just the application that need to be updated. I grudgingly printed out this application, filled it out and faxed it back in to Carrington. Or should I say I attempted to fax it. Their fax machine was not picking up again. I called, I emailed, I raised hell, but nobody cared. Finally on my last ditch effort, I tried it one last time and it went through. Then I got another notification that the tax form was filled out wrong. I didn't check the box. Then I was told I was missing other documents. Ever feel like nothing you do matters? I was told I just needed to fill out the application again.

But now I needed to provide all new supplementary documents to match the new application. It is May 27th of 2016 I have still not completed my loan modification. Noteworthy to mention: During this last month, I was notified that another program was able to help me called Florida's Hardest Hit that will pay up to 6 months of your mortgage. They notified me that I was approved and that they were sending a request to Carrington for payment approval. I had assumed that this had taken care of my past due amount since it was to cover 6 months worth of payments.

I logged into my account on the Carrington website to look up my recent statement to verify the payment was credited since I've not received it yet. Not only did they not accept the payment from Florida's Hardest Hit program, they tacked on an extra $1,000 in attorney and appraisal fees. Of course Carrington isn't open past 8 pm to discuss this. I feel like dying right now. I can't lose my house! How does this happen to people who are legitimately needing help and doing everything they're asked to do? I'm reading all of these awful stories about this company and it makes me feel so hopeless.

Technology is really outdated, long hold times etc. I pay all my bills through my bank's online bill pay. I have trouble doing that with them because they don't accept electronic transfers through banks. You have to pay through their website which is tedious.

Although hold time have gotten better, customer service has not. I get ill listening to their recording of how they are a debt collector and any information gathered will be used... yeah yeah yeah. I AM NOT IN COLLECTIONS!!! I have a mortgage with you. Let's figure out the difference and treat me like a person that has a mortgage. Whatever you do do not pay your mortgage in the grace period. The grace period is standard on all mortgages. They do not handle it graciously at all. Because this company doesn't accept electronic transfers from banks, I have to trust the bank's timing with the paper check. Sometimes it gets there early and they cash it which can cause a trouble with my bank and sometimes it gets there a day later which can fall into the "GRACE PERIOD". Grace period makes me subject to excessive phone calls.

After waiting for at least 30 mins on the phone I was told my account had been overpaid and I would not owe another payment until June 2016. The May statement came and showed a 0 balance. On May 10, 2016 they phoned myself and my husband and told us our account was past due and threatened us both with foreclosure on our home.

We have never been late on a house payment in the past. Our loan was also sold to these incompetent fools by BOA. They were very rude and aggressive with us. We did go ahead and pay them. My question is with all of these complaints, does anyone know if the authorities are looking into these people?? Do we need to make them aware of what is going on???

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Bank of America sold my mortgage to Carrington. All had been going well until I started the refi process the end of November 2015. To date, no refi. It has been one delay after another and no one within that organization seems to be able to resolve anything. Frustration and despair are all I am getting. Maybe I'll end up with resolution this week but I have very little hope.

This company bought out my mortgage from Bank of America. I never had any problems in the 3 years I had BoA. The very first month that I had to make a payment to Carrington, the nightmares began. The customer service is awful. Their website and technology is so completely dated. To make my first payment I had to jump through hoops to make the payment. They have a $15 phone payment charge, but they waived it because it was their fault I was having to make the payment over the phone in the first place because they never sent me any paperwork on where or how to make the payment. I had to go to Bank of America to find out how to contact them because my payment was due. The customer service people were so rude and I had to go through the manager to finally get them to waive the fee. Almost a year and a half later, all my payments have been made with no problems.

Then, all of a sudden, they stopped taking the payment out of my account. It's an account that I never use and don't keep track of. So I didn't even realize payments weren't being made for some reason. So after 3 months, I log on to my bank account and see all this money in it and realize they never took the payments. I tried to log on to my account to make the payment online, and they won't accept the payment because it's over 30 days late. Then, I called to make the payment through the automated system so it's free. But, I can't make the payment that way either. So I have to talk to a representative. The lady was so aggressive and rude. She wouldn't waive the fee. And she argued with me that I should have known there was a $15 fee because I have made a payment over the phone before and paid the fee. I told her that she was incorrect and that they waived the fee. To which, she called me a liar because they can't waive fees.

So, then I told her to look it up on my account and tell me when it was that I ever paid a fee for the one payment I made. After several minutes on hold, she came back on and said that she see where they waived it. Never apologized. Just continues to be rude. And she wouldn't waive the fee after all that. So, now I'll just have to mail the payment to them to avoid all these stupid fees. This company is a nightmare. Please, do yourself a favor and avoid using them at all costs. I will be refinancing this loan with ANYONE else. Just so I don't have to pay them another dime. I have no clue how a company like this, with so many awful complaints, can still be in business and why the government hasn't stepped in and taken some sort of action.

I will provide more details about this horrible and torturous experience as soon as I can get the time to write the whole experience up, but in a nutshell, Carrignton is my mortgage company. I asked them to refinance my loan to lower my interest rate and so I could free up money to pay on my student loans. I have been going through this process since the end of October, 2015...fast forward. Today is May 1st, 2016, I still do not have a refinanced loan, with multiple changes and "problems", I've had two appraisals, and as of Thursday, the manager, Michael ** tells me they need yet ANOTHER appraisal, it wasn't done "right". As hesitant as I am to continue with them to refinance the mortgage, I have given them everything, so much documentation, energy, money and time has gone into this over the months, so I just keep holding my breath. I'm asking myself, "WHY? What is the problem here?"

They told me they were requesting a rush on the appraisal. I haven't even received the phone call to reschedule from the company, no call all day Thursday or Friday. I call them, and ask, "What is the hold up, if there is a "rush" on the request?" I'm told, I will get a call back with an update. I do not get any call. I am going to follow up first thing tomorrow morning and I will report back on all this to other consumers on here. I really want to know if anyone on here has heard of a class action lawsuit? I would like to know more if so. Thank you.

The January payment was phoned in on January 30, 2016 and the February payment was phoned in on February 29, 2016. My payments have always been made at the end of the month since inception with Chase Bank in 2009. I explained that my credit score was 690 on March 7, 2016 and it dropped to 550 by April 17, 2016 due to Carrington's reporting. The January payment did not report until March.

I called Carrington several times and told them I am a terminally ill cancer patient and the drop in my credit score has created undue hardship for me. I am not able to refinance my home to bring the payments down or secure transportation to my doctor appointments fifty miles away. The Carrington supervisor encouraged me to wait for a response from Carrington before contacting the bureaus because it would slow the process.

Thirty-four days later, on April 28, 2016, Carrington finally told me via the phone they refused to remove the thirty days late because the payments were not immediately applied. I still have nothing in writing. During this time I made the transition from a teacher with 15 years of service on county payroll to Social Security and long term disability income, but I always made payments prior to thirty days late.

This organization is ruthless. I believe they destroy people's good credit to attempt foreclosure on them. Their lack of courteousness and unwillingness to provide customers with experienced contact resources in applicable departments is testimony to that. Carrington Mortgage does not care! After months of back and forth phone calls and paper I was told that I qualify for a modification and that the underwriter had my applications. I was even told they were matching me to several modification programs that I qualified but needed to submit one last paper, an affidavit of identity notarized which I did. I didn't hear from them so decided to call them. I was told that I needed to apply to assume the mortgage or submit the pay stubs for my ex-husband who has more than a year that does not live in the home and signed the deed to my name. I said it makes no sense that after months of going through this process now this is required as well after I was told that I qualified.

I was told that the FHA policy had changed about 1.5 week ago. I was told to write a letter requesting an assumption package and was provided a number of a person I can contact about the assumption. I was told by the broker that he had no idea why the company gave me the advice of applying for an assumption when I won't qualify due to the loan being in default. I sincerely have never dealt with a company that seems to be reading from a script and have no idea or knowledge of a situation. I would ask for advice and it was so obvious that there was just no knowledge. I cannot describe the disgrace and the feeling of knowing that companies like this exist in the United States.

My mortgage was sold to Carrington by BoA back in May of 2015. In July of 2015 I became late on my payment after I made the payment online but fat fingered the account number by one digit so the payment did not go through. I did not realize my error and evidently neither did Carrington because I did not get notified by them for more than 30 days and then my notification came by US Mail, not email or phone although they had my email and phone number, but snail mail. By then I was over 30 days late so a credit report entry was made.

To compound matters, they then took my August payment which had been made during the waiting time and applied it to July without telling me that is what they did, and subsequently my August payment became over 30 days late of which I was also not notified in a timely manner, another credit report entry. No phone call, no email, just another US Mail letter, way after I could do anything about it. I finally found out about the July payment so I quickly reauthorized it online to stop the cascading of late payments.

The company has been absolutely uncaring about the situation and unwilling to work with me on it, even though I had obligated all of the money necessary to make all the payments on time and only by a random keystroke mistake was I even late in making the first payment. They also refuse to acknowledge that they share at least part of the responsibility since they took so long to notify me that my payment was late. I am searching for the correct state and federal agencies to work through to ensure this company gets the attention it deserves.

We had the misfortune of having our mortgage sold to Carrington Mortgage Services back in August of 2014. We've had no real issues with Carrington since that time until now. Last year, in the spring of 2015, we had some water damage to our home, so we filed a homeowner's insurance claim. Our insurance company sent us a check for the repairs/remodel. The check was made out to both myself and Carrington Mortgage. Apparently, the mortgage company has to be included on any check over $10,000. Ok, fine. No big deal. We signed the check and then sent it off to Carrington to hold onto until the repairs/remodel to our home were complete.

Well, the remodel/repairs were completed back at the end of September of 2015, so I contacted Carrington's loss drafts department at the beginning of October (they are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of) to ask them to release our funds to us ASAP. That is where all of the insanity started. I was e-mailed by someone named Maruja ** from Carrington's loss drafts department and she informed me that before they could mail us a check, they needed to have an inspection performed on our property to ensure that everything was indeed complete. She informed me that she would be contacting the inspector in our area and that they would be calling us to set up a time to come to our home and perform the inspection and, once that was done, they would release the funds to us.

Well, we NEVER heard from anybody. Weeks turned into months and still nothing. I communicated with Ms. ** many times via e-mail and she kept verifying my home and cell phone numbers, which were both correct, but still no one ever called. We stopped communicating for a period of time over the winter as my husband ended up needed open heart surgery in December, so obviously dealing with that was much more important. Thankfully, he is perfectly fine and doing very well now. I contacted Ms. ** about a month and a half ago (early February) and the whole runaround started again, that she would have an inspector contact us ASAP so that we could have the inspection performed so that they could release the funds to us. Once again, nothing. No calls, nothing.

By this point, we had to pay our contractor some money out of our own pockets since they can't continue to go unpaid for an over $30,000 remodel job. Finally, I got so fed up that I looked up the e-mail address of Carrington's CEO, Mr. Bruce Rose. I sent him a e-mail today (March 29, 2016) explaining the situation and essentially demanding that the funds be released to us immediately, that they were holding OUR MONEY hostage, that we NEVER heard from the inspection company, and threatened to report them to the Attorney General if they did not comply. Keep in mind, this was the VERY FIRST TIME that I had ever contacted Mr. Rose. Well, approximately an hour or so later, I got a reply from Mr. Rose. CLEARLY, this reply was NOT intended for me, but this incompetent, fraudulent joke of a CEO sent it to me instead of who he actually meant to send it to.

Here is the exact e-mail that he sent me: "Chuck - This idiot has been pestering us for at least a year that I can remember, I can’t even sort out all of the details of what she is referring to any longer. Let’s do two things here – solve whatever the current issue is asap and then get Ray to offer her a streamline refi at whatever rate will incent her to refinance quickly, then sell the loan on a released basis into the market so that we are no longer dealing with her. Please let me know your thoughts. BR"

First of all, where does this guy get off calling a customer an IDIOT?! Plus, where does he get the idea that I have been "pestering" him for a YEAR?! This is the very first time I have EVER contacted this man! Secondly, what he proposed to do to me, basically trick me into refinancing by offering me a deal that I couldn't refuse and then turn around and sell my loan to the black market, is ILLEGAL. Yes, obviously they have the right to sell loans at any time; however, planning it out in the manner which he did just to get rid of me IS illegal.

I replied to this e-mail and informed him that he was officially being reported to both my state's Consumer Credit Protection Division as well as the Federal Consumer Credit Protection Division (the CFPB) and that I would go to every single media outlet possible with this to make everyone aware of their illegal, fraudulent practices. Obviously, he never replied to me, but he had one of his minions call me trying to do damage control, telling me that this e-mail was not intended for me (OBVIOUSLY), but I wasn't buying any of it. There is NO excuse for what happened whatsoever.

When I called our state's Consumer Credit Protection Division and spoke to an attorney there, he could not believe the e-mail that Mr. Rose sent me and is VERY anxious to get the ball rolling on this case and is sending us the paperwork to fill out so that they can get started on this investigation ASAP. Let my experience serve as a warning about this company! If you can avoid it at all, AVOID dealing with Mr. Rose and Carrington Mortgage Services at all costs!!! They are FRAUD and LIARS and I will take this case to the furthest extent possible!

What took hours at JPM Chase took more than a month at Carrington. It customer service is the poorest I've ever dealt with. Its mortgage agents sound like collection agents - very poorly spoken, constantly talk over you and worst of all - are completely wrong in their information and industry knowledge. Carrington never sent me an accurate monthly statement.

The final straw came when it was time to pay taxes and h/o insurance escrow. The company is so poorly run and its approach to customer service was so disgraceful that I refinanced my home after only 2 months of dealing with Carrington. So then I made the minimum and then wanted to make a larger payment on the principal but was still only allowed the minimum. To top that off, the extra was "suspended" until the time the next payment was due.

When I got my taxes back, I sent a double payment (in addition to my additional payment) and noted it was for the principal. I looked online and see that they put part of it towards next month's payment and who knows where the rest of it is. On 2/16 once again I called and left message along with a email requesting a call back about closing date. Again on February 18, 2016 I called and left message and emailed about closing date with no reply! Again on February 22, 2016 called and emailed Mr ** about closing with no response. Finally I emailed again on February 22, 2016 asking if I need to make February's payment in which he replied, "Yes, we are not closing this month." I then receive a letter in the mail from Carrington Mortgage that my application was denied due to late payment history.

I have never been late in my 30 years of owning homes!! February's payment was made the next day and they charged me a late charge!!! They also have put on my Equifax Credit Report that I am past due 60 days which is false. I believe this company committing fraudulent acts in order to foreclose on properties. I have refinanced homes in the past and NEVER dealt with such unorthodox practices in my life! I am requesting they remove this from my credit report and receive a letter of apology for putting me and my family through such turmoil!

Bank of America sold my loan to Carrington Mortgage Services in 2015. Dealing with that company has been a real hassle! I will say that I have not had the customer service issues that others have documented, but maybe I have gotten lucky on that front; the employees that I have talked to have been helpful for the most part.

Our first bad experience was with their website. It seemed that the site never remembered our password and would lock us out so that we had to request and create a new password. Since then we have had several issues with the site. I logged in and made a 1/2 payment because I would like to make a 1/2 payment every 2 weeks to cut down on the interest. 2 weeks later, I logged in and attempted to make the other half, but it showed that I still owed the full amount. Confused, I called Customer Service and was advised partial payments are not accepted and the money was in a holding account. Strange that I was not notified. Luckily the rep moved the funds to the correct account for me.

The next issue we had was when I attempted to make a principal only payment. I clicked the box to make a full payment (as that is the only type of payment that is allowed) and then entered an amount in the apply to principal box. When I clicked GO I received an error saying that I cannot submit more than what is due. So, how in the world does that make sense? So I thought, well OK, let me submit this payment and I'll log back in and make a principal only payment. I logged back in and was given the error that I can only submit 1 payment a day... OK. So the next day I logged BACK in and attempted to submit a principal only payment, but it wanted the next month's payment which would be not be due in over 45 days. There is literally no way to make a principal only payment online.

I called Customer Support to voice my concerns and was notified that they are aware of the issues customers are having with their website, and their technology team was scheduled to have a meeting that day in regards to the issues. She advised that I can make a payment and include a principal payment if I pay after the 3rd. I advised that that does not make sense since payments are due on the 1st and the whole reason I am paying extra on principal is to beat the interest.

She advised that I can send a payment to an address in Anaheim, CA to pay principal, so I said I would do that and look forward to the upgrades being made to the website (I will not hold my breath). I went online to confirm the address and lo and behold, that address and information is not listed anywhere. Not surprised they make it as difficult as possible to pay extra principal. How is that legal? In case anyone needs it the address is as follows: 1600 Douglass Rd. Ste 200B Anaheim, CA 92806

Like many others, my mortgage was sold to Carrington by Bank of America in early 2015, and since then, it has been one issue after another with them. It started with my spring property taxes. Instead of paying our county tax department the $435 that was owed, they paid $4,355. I then received an escrow analysis statement from CMS saying that I did not have enough money in escrow to cover this and that my mortgage payments would go up by almost $1,200/month!

I made several phone calls over the course of the next few months to their customer service department and was basically told by everyone that they were sorry for the error, but until they received a refund of the difference from the tax department, I was responsible for the higher monthly payments. I told them on every phone call that I would absolutely not pay the difference for an error that they made. For the next 2 months, I sent a check for my normal monthly payment, as well as a letter to their complaints department explaining again that I would not be paying the higher amount. After 3 months, I finally received a letter stating that the issue had been resolved and that my payments were back to normal.

I had been considering refinancing and just happened to receive a call from a Carrington representative about possibly refinancing with them. When he sent over the documents, there were several items in the paperwork that were not accurate. When I asked him to fix the information and re-send, I was told to "just go ahead and sign everything" and he would take care of it later. I also told him when he initially sent the paperwork that I wanted to take a few days to review the information and to make sure it was the best move for me to make. He then proceeded to call and email me multiple times per day pressuring me to sign the paperwork right then.

I obviously decided I did not want to refinance with Carrington, but found another much better option for refinance with another company. The new mortgage company had all of the information they needed for me to move forward with closing except, shockingly, the payoff information from Carrington. The lady at the title company said she had tried calling Carrington everyday for nearly a month to get the information to no avail. It was only after a 3-way call between myself, CMS, and the title company and us basically demanding to stay on the line until the paperwork came through, that we actually got what we needed. Now I worry about getting the nearly $1,200 in escrow that I have with them back. This is by far the WORST company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. It boggles my mind that they are still allowed to operate. Just terrible.

When I started getting notices of foreclosure I called them they told me that the payments were not applied to my loan because they raised the payments $120 a month. I sent an extra $1200 above the payment amount. We made the payment amount that was supposed to be made after that. They refused to apply any of these payments to my loan. They foreclosed on the property even though we were not behind in payments they just were not applying them. I never got a foreclosure date which is illegal. I got a statement of foreclosure in 60-90 days. The foreclosure was 39 days after the date of that notice. But still was not given a date.

I called customer service they said there was nothing I could do. I asked to talk to someone in charge. They refused to let me talk to anyone. After much insistence they transferred me to a voicemail. I called several more times. Left 3 voicemails for a supervisor who never returned my call. The last time I called they left me on hold 30 minutes then hung up on me. My loan was sold to them by Chase also. They do not even deserve one star. I do not know how they can get by with this fraud and illegal dealings but they have.

I have not had a place to live since then (but I have made every mortgage payment early even though the house is structurally destroyed). The mortgage company received the proceeds and has refused to distribute them. They will not return my phone call or my emails. I cc'd them on the email to the State of Texas when I filed a complaint against them last week and still NOTHING. They have stolen $50,000 of insurance proceeds and they have vanished. What a horrible experience I've come to witness dealing with these people. Once you give a routing number and account number, with cross verbal confirmation of each sequence, you are giving a 'confirmation' number that really doesn't confirm anything, but an interior company number that you are in an 'attempt' to make a payment. Their system isn't automatic, as it takes a few days for their F.A.S.T. or ABA system to finally contact your bank or credit union to post. That I understand. What I don't understand is that when you do a cross verbal confirmation on the string of numbers that is purportedly entered correctly by the operator at hand into whatever contrived system they say is 'working'. I had two attempts to make a payment, both were returned due to, in their letter, 'account not found'? How can this be when both parties recognized the numbers as given and restated?

Then I called later, on February 1st, only to find out that the operator working on a Saturday, was the only one in the office, and couldn't transfer me to a superior. Nor, were the numbers given the first time around correct, in as much that I was told that there were only "7" numbers given. How can that be, once again this was witnessed by two other people? Then the second attempt was invalid because it contained "13" numbers! How in the right mind of anyone entering numbers in a field, or any professional database interface allow for more numbers than is allowed for routing numbers and the account number? Not mention the fact that I too, experienced my user handle invalid from one month to the next.

Moreover, my loan number changed supposedly from a temporary code to its final form. I was told by this operator on the 1st, that after 3 attempts is when the penalty of not being able to file for automatic ACH is supposed to occur. Instead, it happened to me on the 2nd failed collection attempt. The previous operator that day was really rude. GET NAMES! or something. Operator ID's! The string of failures just gets my blood boiling. I was told on their site is a ACH form, but their interface isn't so easy to navigate.

Then to top it all off, payment history. It shows that the 'attempts' were there, but really, you should post successful withdrawals/transactions. I have a .pdf from their document portal that shows a payment 'attempt' on Jan.11th, but only to learn later that it too was rejected, and that now, I'm with a derogatory remark due to it being 30+days. These fly-by-night cyber hacks need a serious lesson, we should somehow all join in on a class-action lawsuit.

My loan was sold to Carrington Mortgage Services by Chase (i.e. JP Morgan Chase & Co.) late in 2015. My payments including auto-draft payments were thankfully carried over to my new mortgage company. Luckily, these payments also included additional monthly principal payments so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones after reading the many other complaints against this company. My complaint is that like many other of the complaints on here, I would like the ability to send additional one time principal payments on top of my monthly auto-draft payments. Months ago I tried the online payment option, only to eventually receive a message after many tries that my account was unauthorized to make an online payment.

Today, I tried it again but got stuck on a page which said something like, "Sorry, unable to process your request right. Try again later." I called the CMS customer service and spoke with a nice lady named Desiree. She instructed me to keep trying because even they run into the same traffic due to their slow servers unable to keep up with all the internet traffic. I tried many times while still on the phone with her, but no luck. She then asked her management to waive the over the phone $5 fee in order to take my additional principal payment. Her management obliged and she tried to take the payment only to find out that I had a restriction on my account due to a bank routing number being entered wrong.

She took down my banking information and said she had to email one of their departments to remove the restriction. She instructed me to follow the same steps later as the removing the restriction usually only takes about 30 mins or so, and I should be able to make the payment. I did as instructed and this time made to the payment screen. I entered my information as required. I then got the same error message that others received (see the attached). I then called CMS again, and spoke with another nice lady named Jen who informed me that this was something that they were working on and had been since she got there which was about a month ago. I asked for an estimated completion date and asked to be notified when it was fixed and said that I found it very upsetting. She told that she was very sorry for me but was given no additional information about the issue.

Doing a quick google search led here and I can see that some people have been dealing with issue for over five months now. I feel that this issue should have been long been fixed given its history and feel that it may be a way generating additional profit via interest. I am tempted in mailing a form request (which they only take through snail mail) to increase my monthly auto-draft principal payments but after reading the complaints on here, I fear that messing with their accounting system may cause me more hassle than it's worth since the auto-draft has worked fine since Oct of last year.

We purchased our home in September 2008 through Associated Bank who turned it over to the FHA loan servicer who was bought by Bank of America. We had plenty of problems with BofA, PLENTY. Anyway BofA sold our mortgage to Carrington Mutual effective December 2015. We received the letter from BofA telling us of the sale. I never got a damned thing from Carrington. On December 1st I called them because that's when our payment is due and I had nothing! No account number, nothing. I was told they were working on getting the loan transferred over. I said "well how do I make a payment right now because I don't want to be late." Nope can't make a payment but assured me I wouldn't get charged a late fee. OK so I held onto our payment awaiting paperwork. I never got ANYTHING IN THE WHOLE MONTH OF DECEMBER. I called back every week only to be told each time they were working on it.

I set up my online account but only got a message saying "There is a problem with this loan. Contact us". Finally in January I got a very short letter from CMS telling me our account number but no address for payments. I called and got an address. I set up my bank's bill pay to send 1/4 of the payment every week. I logged into CMS site, still can't see my loan so I call back again. They don't show any payments. I give them the cashier's check numbers, dates etc. They say they'll look into it. I never get a call back. I call back again after I get my tax bill asking if they paid it. They tell me that $478 was paid in November by BofA. I said our tax bill is $3,200! Oh well email it to us. OK I email. I call back 2 days later. A different person tells me that they don't have an email address and tell me I have to fax it. I fax it, then I call a week later. Nope no record. Jesus Christ! So I fax it again and call immediately afterwards. Suddenly they find it.

I contact our town treasurer to make sure the payment was received and she says NOPE. WTH? Now I call yet again and ask why I'm not getting monthly statements. They tell me because we're in chapter 13 they cannot send out a debt collection letter and that's what a monthly statement is. I tell them "Send me the damned thing anyway. How am I going to know if my payments are received if I don't get a statement?" They tell me the website. I say I can't see jack on the website other than "There's a problem with your loan." Bottom line, we were up to date when the loan was sold in December. The statement I got from Carrington shows that our payment is $13,000 and we're 6 months behind. I don't know if our taxes are paid, if my payments are received. I ** hate them. HATE THEM.

We had no problems until Chase sold our mortgage to another company called "Carrington." We were promised the same level of service and payments. About 3 months after the switch to Carrington, the trouble started. There was a mix up that increased our payments and took months to get partial resolution.

After talking to neighbors and friends that were also customers of Chase, I learned that our situation was not an isolated incident. I looked online and there were 200+ complaints about Carrington and they most ranked them a one star out of five. I have never been late on a single payment with Chase, so why would they subject my family to this craziness? My warning to all that are considering being financed through Chase, enjoy it for now because the headaches will start once they sell your mortgage to a lower, incompetent company that will bleed you dry.

I have had my mortgage with Chase since 04/2010 and they have been nothing but amazing. Late last year they sold my mortgage to Carrington Mortgage Services. They are a debt collection company?! I just realized this when I had to deal with their customer service department. WOW! Anyway, I was trying to do my taxes and can't find out the full tax amount paid. My Chase tax forms have always included all amounts paid (interest, PMI and property taxes). Seems right since they are the ones who pay it. Well, the ONLY number on my 1098 from CMS is the interest paid. I went online and went thru the forms available online for me and nothing there would give me those amounts. The only Escrow listing is the one they projected for 2016, which does not have the taxes they paid for 2015 or the PMI.

When I called I was told that since 2013 tax changes, they are not required to put those amounts on the 1098, only the interest. I was told I need to contact the county tax assessor's office to get that. SOOOOO, YOU PAY MY TAX but you won't tell me how much or when?! I was then told that they can verbally tell me the amount, but won't put it in writing. WHAT??? I am sorry, but I am not sure if Chase spoiled me by giving me the amounts that they paid from MY escrow account, but why can't CMS provide this information? They are the ones paying the taxes, and yet they can't disclose that to me??? Why is it so damn difficult to get the amount? My first experience dealing with them and I hope the last. Would be nice if they sold my mortgage to another company. Preferably back to Chase, or BOA or any other company that actually provides decent customer service and won't get all pissy with you when you ask where they spent your money!!!

Truly, I do not. I am among those whose original loan was with Bank of America. No issues with them. Had been making payments to Carrington for approx 10 months, when we discovered water damage in our kitchen due to a faulty pipe. While rummaging through paperwork for current homeowners' insurance contact info, I am told our policy had expired/lapsed months ago. We were never contacted by local agent, by Carrington, or by insurance company. Our date of loss (July) was not covered by a policy. B of A had sent us a full accounting of our mortgage account just prior to them selling our loan to Carrington, so it was clear they had all of our categories correct... principal, interest, escrow info, etc. We had never been late or missed a payment to Carrington.

Our current statement from them showed more than enough in our escrow account to make insurance and tax payments. We were paying in to the escrow account with every monthly payment... and yet being told our homeowners' insurance was no longer in force. Our local agent was not any more helpful. They said they probably "should" have called us when they were told our policy was canceling "but they did not". After MANY phone calls (all documented) with many different reps, Carrington had nothing to contribute to helping us out. I maintained that they had botched the hand-over from B of A, and failed to pay the premium(s) on our policy.

After several weeks of going back and forth like this, Carrington proved to us what we consider to be consciousness of guilt. They backdated a lender-placed policy, which covered our date of loss. Our local insurance agent told me policies "could never be backdated". So, while this was "something", it is far from enough, because lender-placed policies ONLY cover the roof, floor, and walls of a home -- not the contents. AND it only covers the replacement of DAMAGED areas. For example, the water damage (at that time) only involved about half of our kitchen... we needed replacement of floor, cabinets, and countertop. But since only half was involved, they expected us to accept payment for only half. In other words, we were expected to leave half the kitchen as it was, and that the other half would be new.

I argued with them endlessly for weeks, as well as their underwriters. As "proof of insurance", Carrington sent us a one-page sheet with very vague coverage language. The bottom of the page indicated we should contact them for the "full policy", but everyone I talked to at Carrington said they either didn't know what I was talking about, or that they "were not allowed" to send us the entire policy. Carrington sent us a check last fall for approximately half what it would cost to replace all. We sent a three-page letter by certified mail to Carrington's escrow department, loan servicing department, and insurance department, and to our local insurance agent. No response. I considered the possibility of engaging an attorney to help us with this, and have plans to make a report to our state Attorney General and Department of Insurance. But in spite of all that, my husband and I decided we just could not carry on living with half a kitchen any longer...

It has now been over six months. A huge area of the countertop was taken up with items from the lower cabinets, and all the pots and pans were stored in the guestroom. We cashed the check they had sent us and believed somehow we could scrape together enough to redo the whole kitchen -- albeit modestly. We started demolition of the kitchen this past weekend. What we've discovered is the stuff of nightmares. The Sheetrock behind any of the affected areas was COVERED in dense black mold, as well up higher on some of the walls, and the subfloor under the tile is disintegrating. There's now a huge "cavern" in the floor. Even the floor joists are streaked with huge amounts of mold. We are devastated.

If Carrington had dealt with this properly, they would have immediately sent out a professional to assess and mitigate the water damage back in July. We have received an offer for NOTHING... in the way of mitigation, assistance with costs for loss of use, or -- now -- uninhabitability. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I'm choosing an attorney even as we speak.

They will not allow you to pay any more than the payment due toward principal, and cannot answer why this is. The option is on the payment page, but when you attempt to pay extra toward principal, it always says, "Your maximum allowed payment is... (Total mortgage payment)."

On top of that, they don't provide any email correspondence proving payment was made, so you better print the confirmation page if goes through! Then when the payment wasn't posted properly CMS stated they got wrong social security number and this is after much grief my husband suffered trying to talk with them.

We are almost ready to go to our State Attorney General and the Attorney General to file complaint for emotional abuse and financial exploitation of the elderly and a U.S. Veteran. We would really be interested to know if anyone is pursuing class action suit out there. This is a sad situation when a business can sell off its loans to a mortgage server without properly informing the homeowner. Then all the complaints about CMS - it's simply uncalled for. Bottom line THEY WOULD NOT GET EVEN ONE STAR except the system won't allow you to exit unless you mark at least one to rate your experience. This mortgage company has some really screwed up values and rules. I tried closing on my house that I had with them. They fought me tooth and nail on getting a pay off. When they finally got it, I had already closed on the house. Only was able to get it over the phone by begging while at the title company. Then, to make it legal, they had to mail it. By the time it was mailed, they had taken another mortgage payment out, which shouldn't have happened.

Now, I am currently fighting their tax division because the title company paid the taxes and because of what I went thru on the payoff, they paid the taxes also. My county says they sent the tax payment back on 12/7/15 and their tax company still insists they don't have it. This company on both ends is awful. I can tell anybody and everybody I know to stay far away from this mortgage company.

CitiMortgage transferred my account to a one star mortgage company when I only have 8 payments left on my home. Then they have enough nerve to tell me to MAIL by check to Carrington. Really? Who mails anything anymore? When I tried to access my alleged loan transfer account to Carrington it didn't exist. I have never been late on a house payment. I don't deserve the treatment that CitiMortgage has done with my account, and definitely do not deserve to have an account transferred to a company I have never heard of. If Carrington has my account, then they need to make the option for me to pay my payments online and seriously do they really expect someone to mail a check in the 21st century???

For a long time I have tried to make additional payment it did not allowed me. I made several calls asking why it did not allow me to add. They told me "the system is not working", "you cannot add", "it is not allowed" and "pay by phone or mail a check" are some of the response. Finally I spoken one lady. She said I can make additional payment after two or three days of the month which is true. After the fourth day I was able to add or make a full payment starting from July 4, 2015 and July 13, 2015 I made full payments of my mortgage $883.47. And on August I did the same on the 4th and 5th full payment twice $883.47.

What Carrington Mortgage did was unbelievable. Instead of applying the extra payment towards the principal they keep holding it and keep pushing it as it was early payment for the coming months. All this time I have called them and told them to apply toward to the principal. After three months they say they did but my principal was not lowered as it supposed to. I do not understand what they are doing? Since then I have paid them $5323.63. My principal is not lowered as it should be.

I am still calling - one person said it was applied to the escrow because it was short but a day before I have spoken a lady called Sonia. She told me, there is an escrow shortage of 584.85 but nothing was increase on escrow so far, because my hazard insurance will renew on March and tax was done on September so I do not understand where is that come from? And they already increase on the monthly payment for the tax, but different people said different thing but where is my money go? Did they make me pay interests while I was paying them full amount twice in a month? No answer for that. Who knows even the way they calculate is confusing me. When I compare to mine there is a huge difference but they cannot explain and give clear answer. Instead they telling me they are experts of mortgage. That don't help my worry. Where is my money go?

As nothing had changed nothing needed to be done. The next page explained Carrington's personal information sharing policies. To opt out you needed to call (800) 561-4567 or mail a form at the bottom of the page. I called. What a joke. The representative had never heard of opt out, made me wait while he talked to his supervisor, and then said he had no way of accepting the information.

Trying to get an appointment with military base legal, see if they have any advice. Now we will have to deal with lawyer fees, etc. I am currently filling out a complaint with the state attorney, but it is crazy that there are this many complaints and this company is still in business.

I had my loan bought out by Carrington mortgage a few years back. When I first got wind that this company bought out my loan I contacted them to make sure they had all of the proper documentation being that this property was quick claim deeded to me before the passing of my grandmother. They told me they didn't have any paperwork and they would not be able to speak to me. I sent in all documentation they requested and then was able to set up my online account to start paying off the loan. Everything was fine throughout the time they have had my loan and I had been making payments.. until I paid it off.

I paid off my loan in June of 2015 and have been through nothing but hell with this company. I originally called in to see about the deed and how I would obtain it now that my loan is paid off. They told me that they were not able to speak to me and that they needed authorization from the owner (my deceased grandmother). I explained to them that I had been paying the loan for the previous 3 years and I had been quick claim deeded the property. They stated that they would have someone call me back after they review the documents (never received a call back).

A few weeks later I received a check for my remaining escrow that was addressed to the incorrect person so I could not cash or endorse it to the taxing authority. I called back on several different occasions and got the runaround (most didn't know what they were talking about). I have asked several times to be transferred over to the escrow department and was actually told "we don't have an escrow department." Over the next few weeks I tried calling and sending faxed request (as directed to) and have not once received any type of clear communication.

Yesterday I tried one last time to contact Carrington Mortgage before seeing my attorney, it was the worst customer service I have ever received. The customer service rep sent me over to Title claims department which directed me over to insurance department which then stated they knew nothing about escrow. I finally got connected to the escrow department thinking that I finally would get some answers. Boy was I wrong!!! This rep name was either Kim or Pam, she refused to give me her name clearly after I asked for a manager.

I started off the conversation very nice and explaining everything to try and get her to understand what I needed. She told me she needed a password from me (which I never created) and I told her I never created a password for phone calls.. I asked to speak to a manager and she refused. She said she could not give me a contact because I don't have authorization to speak to her. I told her that I needed this situation escalated being that my taxes are due and if I don't get a manager's contact I will be making a complaint. Her reply was "go ahead if that's what you want to do then do it." I was shocked!! I asked for her name and she mumbled her reply. I told her that "I really need to get this resolved because my property taxes are now due and I don't want to lose my home to tax sale because of your company." Her reply was "I need your password. I'm not going to argue with you" and hung up!!

I ended up having to get a lawyer and we are now taking legal action. This company is a joke!! None of the employees know what they are doing.. I have spoken to over 20 people at this company about the same situation. I have sent escalated faxes with no reply. This company needs to be shut down. I have never heard of any company treating their customers this way and I am in disbelief that this company is still holding business.

I sent the two and they sent me an Act 91 notice even after the two payments were received. My advice is to never speak with them via the phone. They cannot be trusted. Also if you ever want a loan modification go through a housing counselor. They have to be on their p's and q's when dealing with a housing counselor. After five business days it said online and through the automated system that it was paid. The problem was the money never left our bank. We called Carrington and found out that the account number we put in was wrong. Ok, maybe it was. We had to write a letter to request they waive the late fee. They sent it back to us because it wasn't signed by both of us.

It's been three weeks and still don't know if they will waive it. My guess is no they won't. I have never been late in 20 years of making home loan payments. The way they do things makes me feel like this late fee will end up hurting me. My credit etc... I emailed Dept. of Veterans Affairs about them not letting us make extra principal payments. I am writing to urge that everyone take a cautious look into the practices of Carrington Mortgage Services. Prior to doing business with them. I bought my first home in October of 2005 using a VA loan. The loan was held by Bank of America for 10 worry-free years prior their sale of it to Carrington in April of 2015. The only reason I discovered that my loan had been sold was when I attempted to view loan information of BofA's website and discovered that my account no longer existed. I quickly called and was informed of the sale and the rep provided me with a phone number.

After setting up my account with Carrington, I continued making the same regular, semi-monthly payments through my bank's bill-pay but to my new mortgage servicer's account. In September, I noticed that my credit score with two agencies dropped a few points. Logging into Carrington's website, I discovered that they had raised my escrow payment starting August the 1st by $130 per month. I never got this communication which is listed as being mailed out in late May.

Fair enough, I immediately paid the missing $130 and called to speak with a Carrington representative. I was told over the phone that the payment of $130 brought my account to current and that I could sign and mail in forms to start autodraft from my bank account on a semi-monthly basis. However, they require a voided check, which I haven't used in over 6 years and have none. Teaching classes on a regular basis and not having checks, I resolved to continue making payments through my bank's bill pay service increasing the payments by the new $130 amount.

During the second week of December, I was presented with Certified mail at my doorstep of their intent to foreclose on my home?!? They were asking me for 2 months of payment in their demand letter, to be received no later than 30 days from the date of the letter. I immediately began to research on their site and see that they are holding my payments for 45 days. Furthermore, their website is over 7 days behind with regards to posted payments. My credit score, which was outstanding prior to Carrington's involvement, has dropped almost 130 points! I investigated refinancing my home to get away from them, but I plan to sell it in 2 months, so lessening my equity would be foolish. This has to be the most disreputable company out there. I now have to deal with a "fair" credit score when I go to purchase my new home instead of excellent and have 2 late payments on my credit report. This will probably disqualify me for another VA loan. Stay away!

Why have the option available on the website to have additional money added to principal but not accept it when trying to complete the transaction??? Very frustrating. The website only gives limited information on payment history. It does not reflect the account balances through the history nor does it show what is being paid toward insurance, taxes and mortgage insurance, instead it lumps it all together and doesn't break it out. I was with Bank of America then they sold my loan to this God awful company, Bank of America had a great website. Hope to refinance soon just to get away from this company!!!

She told me that my auto payment days were set up wrong therefore, I was paying one day late and that is why I got hit with the latest charge. She proceeded to tell me that this was the only time she could see that I was ever charged. I challenged that and demanded that I talk to a manager. 10 min later she puts Mike on the phone. He proceeds to tell me that he can't see any charges on my bill and that I wasn't charged for being a day late. OK!!! What the hell is going on with this company? I don't even know where to begin with this company - what a joke. Our mortgage was sold to them from BoA in April of this year - not sure why because we had never been late on a payment or missed a payment. When I attempted to make our April mortgage payment I was informed by BoA that they no longer owned our mortgage and we would have to wait to hear from Carrington. I waited 1 week and still heard nothing. Beginning to panic that we would be dinged for a late payment, I reached out to Carrington myself with no loan number and very little information to go off of.

I was greeted by a nice friendly customer service rep who, after about 30 min of conversation, she informed me that we were liable for the April OR May mortgage payments while Carrington went through the transition process for our loans. I asked her at least 3 more times if she was sure and she confirmed that to be the case. What great news! Since I have been dealing medical issues, we used the money to pay off some mounting medical bills.

In June, we received a notice from Carrington of their intent to foreclose - WHAT?!? I was on the phone immediately, only to be informed that the information given out to new customers from BoA during the first week of April was incorrect and we were, in fact, liable for those payments. Well crap. So we scrambled. Since then it has been nothing but downhill from there. It seems every time we speak to a representative we are told that the person we spoke to last told us the wrong thing and now we have to do XYZ instead of the ABC they told us the first time around.

We eventually had to apply for assistance and were denied because they only look at Gross income, they do not consider taxes or expenses in the review process. I have asked repeatedly for someone to call me back, and no one ever does. Last week I was told that if I made a certain payment by the end of this week, all would be fine. Instead, when I called to make the payment today, I was informed that our house was in foreclosure and a payment couldn't be accepted. I explained to them I had the full amount and now they have to apply for reinstatement or some BS, and won't even let us know the process or the cost involved. Meanwhile, every single one of these conversations has come from me calling THEM - no one has EVER called me to talk about our options or lack thereof. WORST company ever - I don't even know how what they do is legal.

Like many of the complaints against Carrington Mortgage, my experiences have been very similar. From the moment Bank of America transferred my account, I have hated every experience I have had with this company. There was of course the issue of "cushion" to cover potential escrow shortages the BOA didn't require, and neither is there any federal or state regulations requiring it that I have been able to find. Secondly, when I questioned the company about "what if" this cushion put some struggling homeowner into a hardship, the representative's response was, "it's simply what our company requires." Because I pay my bills through online banking, I have elected to use the bank's "bill pay" option, and have the mortgage payment delivered no later than the 4th of each month.

Carrington Mortgage, without any prior notification, or indication in Mortgage statements charged me an additional $15.00 fee for what they call a "Property Inspection Fee." When I contacted them about this charge, I was informed that any payment that has not been received by the 1st of each month is subject to this charge, as they will send someone out to confirm that the property is still occupied. This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard yet! Late fees are not added to most mortgages until after the 15th of the month. So how can this company justify any charges on a mortgage that is not late? I suggest that anyone who has their mortgage with this company to get out if they can.

Unbeknownst to my husband and me until after the fact, our Chase mortgage was sold to Carrington Mortgage Services (CMS) in September 2015. Our 1st payment to CMS was due on 10/01/15 in the amount of $1965.79. On 10/02/15 we paid this amount; however, CMS took it upon themselves, without my request or consent, to debit my personal Chase account on 10/08/15 for an ADDITIONAL $2100 (for a total of $4,065.79) thus causing my personal Chase account to be overdrawn!

I notified Chase immediately and filed a formal complaint of "fraud" and told them this was NOT an authorized disbursement. I subsequently notified CMS. CMS Rep assured me that there would be no further unauthorized "Direct Pay" drafts made to my personal Chase account. On 11/18/15 I received a letter from Chase stating, in part: "...determined that the transactions were processed incorrectly by the merchant or were unauthorized..."

Late Saturday afternoon, 10/24/15, we received a letter from CMS (Postmarked 10/23/15 but dated 10/05/15) stating that "We have received and processed your monthly mortgage payments. Your first draft will begin on 10/08/15 (15 days BEFORE this letter was even sent) with your next payment due... Your drafting amount will be $2100 from you bank account number **." On Monday, 10/26/15 I immediately contacted CMS again and reiterated that we had NOT requested this Direct Pay option and certainly NOT for $2100/month... The payment due was only $1965.79. Again, I was assured that there would be no automatic deductions taken from my personal Chase account and that the letter was sent in error and "just ignore it!"

Letter dated 10/15/15 from CMS advising us that the "'Speed Pay' transaction, dated 10/07/15, ACH, in the amount of $2100 that was rejected for the following reason(s): customer advises not authorized", now "...must be in CERTIFIED FUNDS ONLY". I don't think so! They fraudulently drew this money out of my personal account after having already been paid. This should have absolutely no bearing on HOW we pay our mortgage as long as they timely get the proper amount each month! I conveyed these feelings via Certified Mail.

Well, on 11/07/15 CMS once again made a claim for another $2100 from my personal Chase account, when in fact they had already been paid $1965.79 on 11/04/15... AGAIN causing an overdraft to my personal Chase account and prompting me to file yet another a formal fraud claim with Chase Bank AND notifying our attorney of this mess.

Received a letter dated 11/07/15 informing us that we were now required to provide Flood Insurance. We've owned this home for the past 25 years and have never had to carry flood insurance. However, I understand that the county in which we live has been reassessed and is now within a designated flood plain. In this letter CMS said: "If you do not respond to this letter within 45 days (or 12/22/15), we will purchase flood insurance and charge you for the annual premium in the amount of $1943.28..."! REALLY! After confirming that we are now considered within a flood plain, we immediately contacted our Homeowners' carrier (AAA) and purchased a policy for and annual premium of $470 - that's a $1473.28 difference! Can't help but wonder how many unsuspecting homeowners fall for this scam!!

We received a letter dated 11/18/15 from CMS advising us: "...your CMS DirectPay has been cancelled... You will be responsible for sending your 12/01/15 mortgage payment and coupon attached to your monthly billing statement..." And yet another letter from CMS, dated 12.02/15 (in big bold letters) "SECOND AND FINAL NOTICE OF REQUIREMENT TO PROVIDE INSURANCE" - By my calendar, we had until 12/22/15 to provide this insurance - We bought the policy on 11/13/15 and AAA sent the Declaration of Insurance, which becomes effective 12/13/15, directly to CMS! On 12/07/17 I again sent them a copy of the Declaration (via certified mail).

Bottom line: This company doesn't know their right hand from their left and the fact that Chase Bank sold our mortgage to them, a "debt collector" of all agencies, flies in the face of common sense and good business practices! Never have we been late with even one mortgage payment (or to any lender, for that matter). Since this is a 15-year, fixed rate, VA Loan, it's my intent to also file this information with the Veterans' Administration. Companies as inept as this one should not be allowed to hold paper on any mortgage, much less a VA Loan! Should photos of all correspondence be needed (and it voluminous), please let me know and it can be provided.

This is the worst company to have to communicate with and it is so discouraging as a hard-working middle-class to deal with this on a monthly basis.

For some reason, Bank of America transferred my mortgage account to Carrington in early 2015. I have an 850 credit score (seriously, it really is 850) and have paid BofA on-time for 10 years. Yet they STILL transferred my account to Carrington, a company that in my research mostly caters to sub-prime borrowers. Go figure.

Anyway, upon starting my payments to Carrington, I discovered there was no way to add extra money to your principal payment each month. Weird. Then a couple months later they DID add this feature to their payment system, but guess what? It doesn't work. I've called Carrington now for three months in a row, asking why I can't pay additional principal through the Internet. Each time I call, they claim "We're aware of the problem, and it's being looked at and fixed." And now, three months later it STILL doesn't work. Which leads me to believe that for some reason Carrington doesn't WANT it to work. They say "You can pay extra principal over the phone, and we'll be kind enough to not charge you an extra fee", banking on the notion that most people aren't going to literally call in their payment. And how very, very kind of them to not charge me a fee because their own Internet payment system doesn't work.

Something stinks here, and I wish regulators would get on Carrington and ask why their payment system doesn't allow for extra payments of principal like every other mortgage broker in America. Oh, and their customer service page says you can email them, but good luck finding an email address. As far as I can tell, they don't have a customer service email address nor do they have an online contact form. You can either call them or write a letter. It's all very 1995. At least they haven't screwed-up any of my payments yet, although I suspect there is still plenty of time for me to be disappointed in that regard, too.

I suspect I'll just refinance soon. I didn't want to have to do that, 'cause it's a hassle and I have a fairly decent rate (4.5%) now. But if I can get 4% or lower, I may just go ahead and refinance for the sole reason of ditching Carrington Mortgage Service. This is one of those mortgage companies where you just know the people running it are either incompetent or evil. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. My next steps? File a complaint with my state Attorney General, then start mortgage shopping, then pray my new mortgage never gets sold to Carrington.

My husband and I were in the process of buying a newly built house in July. We were told by our loan officer, seller/builder, seller's agent, and our agent to follow the contract regarding our earnest deposit. The contract stated to write a check of 1500.00 and mail it to the seller within a couple if days so we did. We weren't aware that our earnest money should have went into an escrow account. Moving forward the seller was able to push the closing date back 30 days, then we found out that he foreclosed on all his properties. So we were not able to close because he did not have the financing to finish 5% of the house. Which was putting in the carpet, appliances, door knobs, and counter tops.

So since we were not able to close because of him we were supposed to get back our earnest deposit. We could filed the proper release forms given to us by our agent which we was sent through certified mail and to this day we have not received our money. We informed his agent and she said that's not up to her, our agent backed out, along with our loan officer. We have 4 kids and I am disabled and can not work. Can someone help us please. We spoke with several lawyers whom told us it's a waste of time because of their fees we will come out with nothing.

Since my home loan transferred from BOA to Carrington in April 2015, I have received terrible service. This is, in part, due Carrington being a debt collector. Representatives have been hostile when I call until they realize I'm not behind in my payments. They have given me incorrect information and they have given me fax numbers that do not work. My payment when I transferred was increased $98/month from $1537 to $1635. A rep told me this is because BOA did not properly cushion taxes, insurance, etc. so now Carrington was correcting the issue. That was irritating, but I let it pass.

Then I called to see about re-financing to a 15 or 20-year loan with a lower interest rate and no MIP. The reps told me I would have to pay off at least 25% of the loan in order to remove the MIP, and that I needed to own more than 25% of what I paid for the house, not the house's current value. My house has appreciated at least $40K but they were not interested in hearing that. I was told to fax my request to the Carrington Escrow Department at ** and would hear back within 4 weeks. I attempted to fax my request 17 times, all failed. I called Customer Service and was told there was nothing more I could do. I asked if Carrington is interested in retaining my business, and the rep's reply was, "I'm sorry."

At that time, I found another lender and decided to pay down my principal in order to transfer to any other lender. I pay online and attempted to pay the additional amount, but Carrington won't allow that! The first time I was allowed to double my payment. After that, I have not been allowed to make any additional payment. This company is like nothing I've ever dealt with before. How can they just make up their own rules?

I was suppose to refinance with Carrington this month. I get a call on Nov 12 stated that I owe in 2006 and 2013 Pepco a judgement is against the title. Today I finally got hold of Pepco. I didn't moved in this house until 2009 and has been with BGE since I have been here. No one at Pepco can find anything about me owing money to Pepco. I was search by social security number, name and address. I receive a phone call saying that I'm late and when will I pay them Carrington. I just talk to this company yesterday and I need to go to the bank the next day to make the payment. The man said "you are a hard person to get with. I was not to make payment until we go for settlement. You call me at 8:20 am this am and we have already been through this..."

Please read, talk to this person everything suppose to be taking care of. Oh I'm sorry I didn't read my notes. I hung up and left a message with my contact person. Call several times, still here it is 1:46 haven't heard a word. BOA sell our property with these companies without consideration. I have been with three companies since I bought the house. No late fees or any issues. But Carrington is so disorganized and lack of communication with people that I have many concerns about this company. But yet if we use their system to pay we have to pay late fees and the system. I don't see how all of this was my Lack of communication.

BOA Bank and Chase should be getting the same bad wrap for selling the mortgage to such terrible institution. Everyone is getting scammed for just passing thru.

I contacted Carrington and was told by the rep that my insurance hasn't been paid since May 2014, which explains why it was canceled on 1 June 2015. I asked to speak to the escrow department. I asked them where the money was from the past 18 Months of escrow that I paid and why my escrow payments have gone up. She transferred me to insure, then back, then to another rep, then back, then to an insurance supervisor who stated he knows nothing about escrow. Finally after 2 hours and her inability or unwillingness to answer my question, I told her I was filing a complaint with the California State Attorney General. Her name is Julia. If you call and get her, don't expect answers. I believe they raided the escrow accounts after transfer.

On a Monday overnighted money to them and tracked to delivery on Tuesday. Waited to check until Friday and nothing. No mailed payment on and no overnight posted. At least I had expected the overnight to be posted. What is going on with that company? Do they do this just to add fees and charges? How do we get any help? I have submitted a complaint with the Consumer Finance Bureau. So everyone should do the same so something may get done about this company.

Chase sold my mortgage to Carrington and have had nothing but problems ever since. First payment included a $300 fee. When I called and asked what it was for they originally told me it was money I owed Chase when they bought my mortgage. I pulled my records from Chase and called asking about this fee and was told I owed them nothing when they sold my mortgage. My statements showed a zero balance.

When I called Carrington back and showed proof they told me it was for an appraisal that was done on my property, which I never knew about nor agreed to. Since then they have raised my mortgage payments and this month slapped me with a late fee, even though I make automatic payments every month that exceed my minimum due. In the 7 years I've owned my home this is the first time I have ever received a late fee. I find it impossible because it's paid every month on the same day AND it doesn't show up on my statement. Very unhappy with this company. After reading similar complaints I truly believe they are unethical in their business practices.

They bought ours from Chase and we have had nothing but problems since. It first started with them charging us too much every month for 2 years and said they didn't owe us money saying that we filed bankruptcy on our house when we did not. I found that out on my credit report. Then after 2 years they said that we missed a payment when Chase had sold our mort. and that they were foreclosing on our house. They stopped taking our payments so we hired a lawyer. By time we got it started with the lawyer, all of a sudden they would start to take payments but not all at once we had all the money for our payments that they would not take. So they come up with a repayment plan that was 13,500 in 5 months now our payment is 1001.49. Now that amount makes no sense at all.

We talked with the lawyer and they said we were screwed if we didn't pay them because it shows we have payed in almost a year. They would not take a lump sum from us only this repay deal that had the payments too high and late fees and their lawyer fees. So after all said and done we ended up with a check 3600 dollars only after I sent the White House and FHA about 100 letters. Someone from the government called them because they asked me "who do you know in the White House?". I couldn't believe it. So like magic I thought everything was settled and done but it wasn't and still isn't. They haven't reported to the credit bureaus in 14 months taking my credit score from a 770 to a 510. Now all new fight begins...

Our mortgage was sold to Carrington from Bank of America while we were in the process of a home loan modification and we were 1 month behind due to my father passing away. Our payments have gone up and all of our "late fees" became a "mortgage payment" according to Carrington. We have explained it many times and when we asked to speak to a manager she listened for a couple minutes then told us to "Shut up. I listened to you talk. Now you can listen to me." WORST company EVER! We have been trying to get a modification through them and they are always missing a piece of paperwork.

How do they stay in business? I think there needs to be a huge class action lawsuit against them. They now claim we are 3 payments behind (counting late fees transferred from BOA as a mortgage payment) and are trying to foreclose on us. We have 2 payments scheduled to come out at the end of the month but I am sure they will have some BS excuse and won't be able to take them and all of a sudden need a third payment. $6000 is hard to come up with when I have been out of work for 6 months because of surgery, having a baby then returning to work only to be knocked down to part time.

Over the last two months I attempted to make an additional amount with my monthly mortgage payment online. There are two places on the website page to include extra for both principal and escrow. When I attempted to enter an additional amount it deleted my entries and only would allow me to make the exact amount of the monthly payment. I contacted Carrington's customer service twice. The first time I called I was told that I could only make one payment a month and that was the reason it wasn't working. The second call to them resulted in them telling me that it wouldn't accept any additional amount that was under $100. Neither of the calls explained my experience of the web page not allowing me to enter ANY amount over the scheduled payment.

First, I have never attempted nor have I made more than one payment per month. Secondly, there is nothing that I could find ANYWHERE on the website saying that any additional amount must be $100 or more. This is what the disclosure reads: "PAYMENTS AND FEES. This Website is for Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC accounts only and allows users to make payments from $100.00 to $10,000.00. Commercial Funds Transfers may entail different payment ranges for authorized business users. Where applicable, a convenience fee may also be added to your payment amount." The total amount of payments has always been the minimum amount of my scheduled payments of $395.00.

I see from my reading here that I am certainly not the only one to have this experience with Carrington Mortgage Services. Their website also says that they may be contacted by email. They, however, do not list an email for customer service, rather, the only email contact information listed is for a CMS customer advocacy group. Despite the claim of "You can easily reach a loan counselor, customer service representative, or other key CMS resource via phone, mail, or email. Simply choose the method that works best for you." at the top of the contact page. My own conclusion is that they have made it extremely difficult and complex to make any additional payment towards outstanding debts for those unfortunate enough to have had their mortgage sold to this company. I will be forwarding my concerns to the State's Attorney General office.

Our mortgage was purchased by Carrington mtg from BOA on April 2015. We had been with BOA for 6 years, never had a problem. We made our regular payment in May that we had made to BOA, then in June made the regular payment. We received an escrow letter stating we were 600.00 short in our escrow. I faxed a letter as they requested to have another escrow done. Our insurance had went from 1400.00 to 900.00 in May so our payment should have went down, not up. They stated they received the notice from my insurance co. May 29th so as were are waiting for the new escrow to be done.

We made the payment we had always made in July, thought everything was fine 'til we get a letter that we are two months behind. On July 24th we called and spoke with their customer dept. They said our payment was not the right amount and that it was in a suspense acct. We needed to pay 76.86 and they would take the 50.00 late fee off and release the funds. They wanted us to do their speedy pay for 15.00, we said no we would do our bill payor that day, which we did - it had to be to them by July 31, they say. They did receive it 'til the 1st and send us as being 30 days late to the credit bureau, which has hurt our credit very bad. We can't get a refi because of it.

I sent them documentation from bill payor that it was in their PO box at 4:02 am on the 31st and that was not good enough, they want a tracking number which cannot be supplied. Also when they say your payment is in suspense, that just means they are not applying it to your loan because they cashed the check on 7/7/15. That doesn't seem right. In August we made the payment they had said just to be sure then we get an escrow saying our payment had went down.

It took from May 'til August to get another escrow done, so the extra we paid on that payment they say went to the late fee for July that their customer service person said she was taking off. They're not there to help the customer, only to make everything difficult and hurt you any way they can even if you show them proof. I will not stop 'til I get our credit report corrected. They are in the wrong and I will prove it one way or another. A class action suit sounds like a good start and I plan to go all the way to the top with this.

Like others I saw scrolling through, I had BOA. While I wasn't exactly happy with BOA, I didn't realize how great they were until I wound up with Carrington. First of all, I always make my payments through bill pay on Chase with my personal checking. BOA had no issue with this. Carrington tried to force me to use their website to make payments and I did. Until they forced me to change my password EVERY MONTH and I finally forgot what password I had used and my efforts to reset my password didn't work. I gave up and went back to bill pay.

That's not my primary concern. My primary concern is that apparently in August they revised my escrow amount. The new amount was due September 1 but I was not notified. I did not find out until I got a late payment notification in late September. I called Carrington and they told me that the escrow had changed and that I owed an additional $65 per month. I let them know that I had already put in for my October 1 payment and that I would IMMEDIATELY send them a check for $130 which was the difference for both September and October. They received this on October 10. However, on October 14 they filed a past-30 day inquiry on my credit!

I called and complained and was met with nothing but rudeness. I got a fax number to send a complaint which I did. A few days after sending my complaint, I got a check in the mail for OVERPAYMENT of escrow in the amount of $313!!! These idiots cannot make up their mind if *I* owe *THEM* money or if *THEY* owe *ME* money. Total stupidity. Of course my complaint was "researched" and they "found" that what they reported to the credit bureaus was accurate.

The fact that it was underpayment and then overpayment and underpayment and so on does not bother me. While that's aggravating and stupid on their part, it is the fact that, while they felt that I had underpaid, they filed a negative remark on my credit. Which was immediately followed by a "Oops, we screwed up and you overpaid, here's a check for the difference." But the damage was already done on my credit. Carrington Mortgage Services, you guys SUCK and I will be taking my mortgage elsewhere to avoid any future stupidity on your part.
