My loan was recently bought out from Bank of America. I was never late on payments and had an account in good standing. Recently, I got a letter stating that my loan had been sold to Carrington Mortgage a company that I had never heard of. Beginning April 2, all payments would go to them, but I still have yet to receive any kind of paperwork from them giving me my new loan number or how to arrange payments. I called them twice yesterday to be on hold for almost 30 minutes each time and to experience terrible customer service. I got my online account set up, but online payments do not work at all, as well as any changes to statement delivery.
When I called, the female customer service rep told me that she didn't know why the online payment was not working for me and that I should try later. Her first response was that she had to delete my account and that I had to create a new one using a different username and password. The guy from the first phone call told me that I could not set up my online account until April 8th, and when I told him that I just did it on the phone, he was shocked and had no explanation...
Well... I am trying again today, and it is STILL NOT WORKING!! This company is a completed JOKE!! I am NOT PLEASED with this new company at all!!! SHAME ON BANK OF AMERICA for selling my loan to this company! After reading other reviews, I will be selling my house to get far and away from them and would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE. Pay a fee to make a payment over the phone or be forced to mail a paper check to which they have the discretion to say that they didn't receive it in the mail in time. What a freaking JOKE!! Their customer service has no idea what they are talking about. I am FUMING!!!

Our mortgage was recently sold by Bank Of America to Carrington. We have an account number so far but unable to register account on website to make our May payment. When I called customer service today they advised the account would be loaded by next week. Right now we are a year and 4 months ahead on our loan. Funny thing is if I want to pay additional principal I must mail a check. How stupid is that? Need to know if anyone had issues with paying on the Carrington website once their mortgage was sold to them.

I was notified on March 12, 2015 that my mortgage loan is being transferred from Bank of America to Carrington Mortgage Services as of April 2, 2015. I have not yet received anything from them, so I called to get my new account number and payment information. I was told to refer to my Welcome Letter (which I have never received), then I was told that I may have this information by mid-April (by mid-April, my mortgage payment will be late). I was told that I will have a 60 day grace period, and no late payments would apply. However, that information is only supplied in the Welcome Letter which they never sent. I do NOT believe there is a grace period based on their verbal response; I want to see this in writing. I asked if I could call on April 2 to get my account number, they weren't sure.
I can tell already that this is not going to be a reputable mortgage company to deal with, and I will be filing complaints with the Nevada Attorney General against Bank of America and Carrington Mortgage Services for complete incompetence. I have never been late on my mortgage, and now it is happening because they refuse to give me my new account number. I was told if I make my payment under my old account number, I would be in default. Staff is very rude and unknowledgeable.

On 3/08/15, I was trying to do my 2014 taxes and realized that I did not get a 1098 from Carrington Mortgage. On 3/09/15, I called them to inform them I needed the 1098 in order to claim the interest and property taxes that was paid. The first person I talked to, I believe it was **, said they do not send out 1098's on interest that is under $600. I told her again I needed it to be able to claim the information on my taxes. I became EXTREMELY upset and then someone named ** came on the phone and told me also that they do not send out 1098's when interest paid is under $300.
I told her I had to have it in order to legally claim on my taxes. She said she would not reprint it. Well, it was never printed to begin with. This company is a sorry excuse for a company. My loan was sold to them from CitiMortgage. I paid my bill every month and have had nothing but problems with them since my loan was sold to them in October/November 2014.
I am unable to refinance to a different company as I had to file bankruptcy 4 years ago and the loan was 'discharged' from my credit. The people who work for this company have no idea what they are doing. It took me 2 months with numerous phone calls and faxes to get them to credit a check that was sent to CitiMortgage and that CitiMortgage forwarded to them. I was not able to provide copies of cancelled checks because Carrington put my check through electronically. I provided them with copies of my bank statements and also a letter from the bank.
I even had one customer service rep. tell me that the ONLY way my payment would show it was put through electronically was if I paid my mortgage online. Told her that was not possible since I PHYSICALLY wrote a check. She was really young and obviously had no clue, but even those that are older and should know better also do not have a clue. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS COMPANY!!! I also filed a complaint with the BBB. There are also numerous complaints about Carrington there as well.
This company, and every last person who works for them, needs to be investigated for potential illegal acts. The person who owns this company obviously does not know what they are doing and it reflects on the people they hire. I am now trying to get a mortgage as I moved, and I am not terrified that the loan, should I be approved, could end up being sold the them. If someone reading this is thinking about either obtaining a new loan or refinancing -- DO NOT GO THROUGH CARRINGTON -- you will regret it!!! I was required to 'Rate my Experience'. Unfortunately, even 1 star is too good enough for Carrington Mortgage.

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Mortgage took over my mortgage from Citi without my consent or notification. I found out my mortgage payment had been sent back form Citi which is how I found out about the change. I contacted Carrington to set up a direct deposit in November and they have failed to set it up for the past 6 months which has resulted in hours of brain damage and late fees. I have to call them every month to find out what's going on and why they haven't fulfilled my request and the only option I have is to send a letter to a random fax number. I sent a formal letter to the number and never heard anything back and had to start over the process the next month. I'm going to now refinance my home and possibly pay higher rates just to get away from this terrible company. Shame on Citi for dumping my loan with this unethical and inept company.

I have been trying to get an assignment of mortgage from you to sell the property since October 2014. Here's the problem. My house is a prefab that means it has a title like a car. When Bank of America sold you the loan they didn't change the title to you. I have sent everything you all requested when I call. I always get someone else first. You need a password--sent it more times than I can think of. Only when I threaten to sue you all from October 2014-March 2015 could someone half help me. I have sent the request for the assignment of mortgage to your Internal Reach Dept. from the title company trying to close.

My mortgage was sold to them from CITI a few months ago. Last night I tried to make a substantial payment towards the principal. I first went online to do it, but then I was given an error message saying they could not process it at this time. I then called 1-800-561-**** and was connected with a customer service representative named Jay **. I explained to him that I was trying to pay $8,500 towards the principal. He told me that I could not make payment toward the principal at this time. I could only make the payment due. He explained that the online system should be up at the end of March. I protested and explained that my mortgage interest rate is compounded daily and that waiting even one day is costing me more money. He told me that CMS had several hundred thousand customers and they probably all wished they could pay towards the principal right now, but they can't.
This infuriated me and I asked for a supervisor. We went back and forth and he finally said that I could do a check over the phone but it would cost me $15.00 as convenience fee. I continued to ask for a supervisor and Jay connected me to an automated voicemail box. He did not tell me a name or an extension to dial, so I had to dial zero.
I was given to a very friendly and helpful woman named Erica ** who told me that the supervisor I was looking for was Tony **. She transferred me and stated that she would also send him an email. I got Tony's voicemail and left a message. I received no call back from him. I called back one hour before closing and spoke to James. I explained the situation to him. He told me I should cut my losses and just pay the fee. I asked to speak to a supervisor, James told me that if I could give him one good reason why I should not have to pay the $15.00 fee then he would fight "tooth and nail" to get it waived. I told him that was easy... "Your online payment system does not work, therefore I had to call you and do it over the phone."
James sat silent for a second and started an analogy about a bus and a taxi. I am not sure where he was going with it. I began to protest again and James got heated. I got so angry that I handed over my phone to her. She explained to him that I was trying tie up loose ends before a military deployment. James did not care. She started asking what form of payment we could do. James stated that the only thing we could do is mail the payment or pay the fee. She inquired about the online system. James said that it is new and not operable. Then he began to back pedal and say that the online option is only for regular payments. He kept protesting that "it is only $15.00."
They argued for several minutes. He told her that because "we are choosing to pay the principal, so we should just pay the fee." He actually told her at one point, that he was putting her on hold because she kept talking over him..... She began asking him about his supervisor. During the time they were going back and forth I dialed the company's corporate number and spoke to Fahim **. He was very friendly and apologized. He could actually hear the back and forth between my wife and James on the other line. He asked for James' last name. My wife asked him for his last name and he refused to give it. She asked him for a customer service number or someway to identify himself. He gave her the number **.
I gave this to Fahim and he stated that this was no help to him. Fahim asked for his supervisor's name. James gave the name Justin, but refused to give any other information. My wife continued with James and Fahim looked up supervisors with the name Justin. My wife explained that we needed his last name because we were on the phone with the corporate office at 949-517-****. James would not give any further identifying information about himself or his supervisor. Fahim came back with the name Justin **. My wife then told James that she wanted to speak to his supervisor Justin **.
James put my wife back on hold and then came back asking to speak with me. My wife asked why and James refused to tell her. Fahim gave me another number to call and I was going through the automated system at this time. I heard her inquiring about why he needed to speak to me. James refused to tell her. I exchanged phones and James began asking for my checking information and waived the fee to pay towards the principal. This was last night and the payment is still not pending, nor have I heard from anyone in a supervisory role......

I could never get a hold of anybody and when I did call them they had no idea why I was calling. They didn't know how to take a payment and I was trying to avoid foreclosure. Couldn't get a hold of the retention group to make my payment, I called him for 3 weeks straight and never got a phone call back. I am frustrated dealing with these people and they are very argumentative. There is a whole bunch of kids working in that office or I should say call center. I am just so angry, it’s sad that I'm not the only one dealing with this. There isn't an office to go make a payment or to talk to a live person. According to Brian, one of the representatives in the retention group the only way to get a hold of them is through these telephone numbers that they give me and two of them are invalid.
They don't have an office to talk to a loan officer but they are claiming that they are a mortgage company. I just wish that Bank of America never sold me to these guys. They are charging me fees that they can't even explain. In order to get any kind of paperwork, I have to contact the research department via fax. When you fax them something they claim that they never received it, and to resend it when I resend it they still say that they never received it. I can't win with these people, I really wish that I can get my house refinance their somebody else so I would never have to deal with these guys. I am going to pay the money that they say that I owe them because I don't want to lose my house but at the same time it's very frustrating.

When you pay a month (if you cant pay 2 at once), they won't apply the month you paid to your mortgage. They put it "aside" to wait for the next payment. We had Bank of America and we thought they were bad but trust me, they were like angels compared to Carrington! They are vultures! We have been getting things from the mailman to sign constantly! It all goes back to May 2011. I work in Aviation as an Inspector, in 2011 our industry suffered a huge downturn and as a result, I lost my job. Locally there were no positions available so I was forced to take a position in Florida making considerable less money to try and earn a living. We placed our home in Illinois on the market to try and sell so we could relocate to Florida. During this period, my family and I made huge financial sacrifices. We were able to stand on our own two feet and maintain two households without any outside assistance.
September 2011 The company I was contracting at decided to go in a different direction and no longer needed my services. With a second job loss in a year and no prospects of another job, I moved back to Illinois. Fortunately, our home had not sold so we immediately took it off the market and turned to Bank of America in September for assistance. This was the first mortgage payment we missed. We spoke with Bank of America to start the loan modification process. We said that we couldn't afford to make a full payment but we could make a partial. The representative told us not to make another payment because it would slow the modification process down.
Between September 2011 and September 2014 we had to resubmit due to expired information (9 times), lost packages (6 times) and changes in employment (4 times). July 2014 We were notified by BofA that our modification was completed but our loan was being sold to Carrington Mortgage and they probably would not accept the modification terms. They suggested holding off until the new servicer contacted us and we should reapply with them.
September 2014 We received notification from Carrington that we were approved for a trial period of three months for the amount of $2277 per month. This was $421 a month higher than our original mortgage which we couldn't afford. I contacted Carrington to see why the amount was so high and was told it was due to the arrears in the amount of $85,000. I was told that I was expected to take out a second loan for the arrears. The total loan amount for a home that might appraise for $210,000 was $300,000. When I asked who would loan $300,000 on a home worth $200,000 I was told that wasn't their problem. I tried to explain that they were making the decision based on outdated financial statements from when my wife was part owner in a business and that she no longer had that income coming in. They demanded to know where all of the money went that we weren't using towards our mortgage.
When I tried to explain that there wasn't any money and that we had used it to survive due to being unemployed and under employed for two of the last 4 years. They then accused me of submitting fraudulent information to Carrington and HUD and that if I didn't accept the loan modification terms, I could end up in court for attempting to defraud the government. We contacted the attorney who was supposed to be handling our case and told them what was going on. The response we received stated we should accept the modification and there was nothing else they could do to assist us.
After 4 years of having our lives on hold, we decided to get on with our lives and attempted to sell our home. We received an offer that was under market value and approached Carrington about doing a short sale. After reviewing our information we were told that our income was too high and we did not qualify for a short sale and at that point we had 2 options. Accept the original modification amount or foreclosure. In my opinion, all they want is money and I can understand that. We told them that if they would forgive the arrears, we would start making payments immediately. They said that was not an option.
As with many homeowners today there are three options available: 1) Forgive the arrears and allow the homeowner to stay. Carrington loses almost $100,000 by this point. 2) Forgive the arrears and allow a short sale of the property. Carrington loses about $130,000. (Arrears + difference between loan and short sale). 3) Send the home into foreclosure. Carrington loses $150,000 or more. (Arrears + difference between loan and foreclosure sale amount). We were told that scenario number one was NOT an option they would approve of. No wonder our banking system is so messed up right now. In my opinion, Carrington is following the same path of Bank of America and will find themselves in court and have their name trampled in the mud just like BofA.

My husband and I have been going through a couple of banks to get pre-approved for a mortgage. We told the representative helping us with the process that we wanted a conventional loan. I had to tell him this over five times because he kept sending us an approval for a FHA, which the bank would not accept. The approval letter took over two weeks to receive. I had to call the representative several times. All of my phone calls went unanswered. I went over twenty-four hours without hearing back from emails.
When we finally received the approval, the state was incorrect. I had to write back and tell him the information was wrong. It took another twenty-four hours to fix. I then asked about being approved for a conventional loan. He continued to tell me that we needed to talk on the phone. We'd set up a time, but he'd never answer and he did not attempt to call me one time after taking all of our information.
It was absolutely terrible customer service. He would send me emails telling me that a FHA 203K is the best loan for us. He NEVER listened to what we wanted. I've read through many of these reviews. Our loan was also sold from Bank of America to Carrington Mortgage Company LLC in August of 2014. We were current on our payments; we've never missed a payment or been late. We've not filed for bankruptcy, we're not trying for a short sale, we're not experiencing any financial hardship, laid off from our jobs, experiencing any disability or other hardship. From the beginning I was skeptical of this "company". I questioned why, when I first called, they play a recording that they are a debt collector and any information obtained (blah, blah, blah)... I was told that a mortgage is a debt, and it’s just common practice to make that statement. Never did Bank of America make that statement. With the mortgage on our previous house, our previous lender never made this statement either.
I understand it is common practice for loans to be sold, but why was our loan sold to this company? And how can we get away from them? In the less that 6 months they've owned our loan we've been charged twice with erroneous and unjust phantom charges. Once their charges were refunded a month later, and this time I'm refusing to pay (the $40 phantom fee, not my mortgage). Can anyone offer any answers?

Carrington bought my loan from Chase Home Finance. While I was still with Chase, after almost 5 years I had to get a deferral for July and August 2014 notes. I had to beg for the deferrals, but because I had perfect pay, a corp. supervisor approved it. Then without my knowledge, sold my loan to Carrington. Immediately started receiving threatening foreclosure letters. But they continued breaking payments and cashing my checks. I called them and emailed them about my deferral with Chase and they would not honor it. So I applied for a loan modification over a month ago and still make monthly payments. I told them from the beginning I could not catch those two payments up, but I pay my note on time each month.
They sent my check for January and refused to accept payment. I was told I either needed to pay all of what I owe or they will take nothing which is putting me further behind in payments and adding late charges up. I am now in beginnings of foreclosure. I am trying to sell the house just for what is owed to the bank, but I have one huge sinkhole in my backyard close to my house and some others starting to sink. Some of bank checks are already past 180 days and I am unable to get money back from it! I owe them 11,000 dollars, which should have been zero!!!

My daughter and son in law filed bankruptcy 2 years ago but did not include their home. They never missed a payment. Three months ago Citibank sold their loan to Harrington Mortgage. They have not been able to get a mortgage statement or payment book from Harrington. They call in every month and make a payment. Harrington will not give my daughter any information about the payment and do not send a receipt.
Today they received a certified letter stating foreclosure proceedings are forthcoming on their house. When my daughter called and asked what was going on they said the last 2 payments weren't made which my daughter said yes they were my bank statements show them coming out. She was then told this was standard for houses in bankruptcy. My daughter explained the house was not part of their bankruptcy. She was then told to pay almost $1,300 to stop foreclosure. $600 plus this week and $600 plus next week. Again nothing in writing just someone on the phone saying this is the only way it can be taken care of.
They have worked very hard over the last 2 years to get their credit cleaned up. I really think this mortgage company needs to be investigated for unlawful business practices. I am going to contact our attorney tomorrow but this type of business should not be allowed to continue. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a class action lawsuit pending.

Original mortgage was changed to this company. I called and asked that they do an auto pay with my bank account as it was the same as with the previous company they bought the mortgage from. After many calls and 3 months later, I still do not have it correct. In addition, I decided to lower interest rates and they talked me into staying with them. I should have seen this report prior to doing so. I am 4 months into a streamline VA and they sent closing specialist 2 times so far and both time, the figures were different than what was stated. In closing, I can only say that all the bad things you hear about getting a mortgage and working with a mortgage company...times it by 5 with Carrington Mortgage and they do not deserve a 1 star. Special note - Chad ** was my agent and did what he could and the best he could, but everything around him was a Grade F-.

When I first read all of the previous reviews after our mortgage transferred from CitiMortgage to Carrington, I was scared to death. However, I have found them to be a very good company to work with. They worked with me on the phone to ensure that I understood what all needed to happen to transfer our monthly mortgage payments to them; the 1st month, I sent them a check. I was given clear instructions on how to make application for an automatic draft, which was done quickly & accurately. Our 2nd mortgage payment to them was, indeed, automatically drafted from our checking account with no mistakes or troubles. Each step along the way, I've received snail-mail verification & other communication from them. I can only think that they must've experienced a tremendous turnaround in how they deal with customers & how they handle their mortgages. At this point, I feel that they offer a superior product in the mortgage business.

I was laid off in Aug. & so I requested mortgage assistance in late Aug./early-Sept. I was told I could get approved for unemployment program to lower my mortgage payment. I submitted my request & the required forms. I kept getting requests to resubmit my documents. I was notified late Nov, I was denied for home affordable modification. I contacted them to ask reason for denial & also about if I was considered for unemployment program. They stated I hadn't, so to resend my original request in again. I did, along with a letter explaining my situation, & specifically requesting the unemployment program. I got another denial letter at the end of Dec., stating same denial of home affordable modification. The letter also said I didn't have enough income. Well yeah...I WAS LAID OFF and getting unemployment, and in the meantime I could not make ANY PARTIAL payments.
Now again that I've called them, I've been getting the run around. I've left message, sent emails. I would like to get it resolved or speak to an actual account representative that can discuss my account. I am trying to see if there are so many programs out there why didn't I qualify for 1 so I could get assistance when I really need it. That's why homeowners lose their homes, because mortgage companies can't work with the homeowner.

I sent my payment to my old company the day before I was notified my loan had been sold. Instead of checking with them, Carrington sent me a letter saying my payment was late. The next month they sent me a bill without a return envelope which I thought was pretty cheap. This month, they didn't send a bill at all and when I called they said they didn't have my address. They wanted access to my bank account and I told them I didn't trust them and to send me the bill. They said they would but if my payment arrived late they would charge me a fee. Don't have my address? Please! I'm currently shopping around to refinance because Carrington gives me the impression they're after my house.

I paid my mortgage through a third party and Carrington cashed the check on the 3rd of November. The account number had one digit too many. Instead of contacting me, Carrington deposited the money in someone else's account. The mediating company faxed Carrington a copy of the cashed check on November 26th and December 3rd, 2014, providing proof that I paid my mortgage payment. Carrington kept my November mortgage and when I refinanced with another company charged me for the November mortgage a second time. After several attempts to rectify the situation, Carrington chose to ignore my request for a refund of the extra payment. The customer service representatives told me on November 18th that I would receive a refund in thirty days after the bank received the fax. It is now December 31st 2014, and I still don't have my money back.
I called the customer service line last week and the customer service representative verified that the money was in the account that I thought it was in. I now have to wait another thirty days for a refund check which means I lost interest on my money due to Carrington's not taking action and correcting the problem when I first called and notified them of this problem on November 18th, 2014. Instead the customer service representatives wanted to argue and would not forward me or provide me with the number to the department with authority to fix the problem nor would they check to see if the money was in someone else's account.

For the last 8 years, my mortgage was with Bank of America. My loan was sold to Carrington in August. While I was with Bank of America, I was in the process of making payments through a third party help we were getting from a Sandy Relief program which is what caused the 3 months behind. As the process was going in August, our mortgage was sold to Carrington. We called numerous times to Carrington for a loan number and they continue to say that their system was not updated yet and did not have one yet. They sent a letter saying that no late fees of charges will be made because of that. In the meantime, our mortgage was not paid. Now we are 4 months behind. Finally, we were able to send our first mortgage payment to them. Then the next payment comes back to us because our house was placed on foreclosure because we were behind. We are trying to continue our mortgage payment and they continue to return our payment unless we pay them in a lump sum, which now is at $24,266.78 (7 months).
I am ready to finally send them the money. I called them to ask them exactly how much I owe them to reinstate my mortgage and they gave me that number above. Now that I am ready to make out the check, I called to confirm that the number did not change. They are telling me now that there are other fee to add to the payment which I was never told of and never shown in my paperwork. These people are disgusting. How is it possible that they are not in jail for "FRAUD"? They are SCAM artists. They take advantage of situations. They purposely buy mortgages to SCAM and do FRAUDULENT procedures to get to the more vulnerable.

Ok, I've read all the complaints about this company on this website and feel pressed to offer you all my own miserable experience with this unscrupulous psychopathic bunch of crooks. My first advice before saying anything is that if you find yourself mixed up with Carrington, do not, do NOT, try to negotiate anything with them in an effort to save your house. Do NOT pay them extra payments. Do NOT believe that they are going to allow you to keep the house you have been paying for faithfully over the years. They absolutely are for forcing you into foreclosure, but, sadly, not before squeezing you for every last penny they can beforehand. USE THAT MONEY TO FIND YOU ANOTHER PLACE TO LIVE. GET OUT.
I found out my mortgage was given/transferred/shifted/whatever to Carrington in 2013 in the middle of a short sale after it had been with Chase. The short sale was on account of a series of terrible events in my life. Anyway, dealing with Carrington is like trying to herd cats. No communication. Nothing. It was just a good thing that I was no longer living in the house and really could care less what happened to it. But I was trying to cooperate with the short sale process and keep insurance on the place and communicate with Carrington and the realtor. Do not, do NOT, pay a realty lawyer ANYTHING in the effort to prevent foreclosure if you are in a similar situation. They took $300/month of my money for over a year while doing absolutely nothing constructive toward my situation. I finally realized this and fired them. Boy did they get angry!
Now I think that this "lawyer" company were in cahoots with Carrington. See, Carrington was just sitting on it's ass anyway. The short sale fell through of course as did a series of offers on the property after that. Now as of last night (Dec. 2014) I find out after researching online that the house is being sold at action due to foreclosure. I never received any written documentation from Carrington about anything whatsoever. They never sent me anything via email and they never called me. Please do NOT over extend yourself trying desperately to keep your house. Just find somewhere else to live and use your money toward that!!!

The item needed attention and was to be sent back to USDA by Carrington. After that we were waiting on an approval from USDA. Carrington constantly stated that the loan had not been returned back from USDA yet with an approval, over and over they stated they had no answer yet. I called many times and demanded to speak with someone. I was told that an answer was to be given by a certain time. Then the time would pass and the person would not answer their phone or call me back.
Finally a call was made to USDA by my broker. USDA claimed that Carrington Mortgage never resubmitted the corrected document and forms to USDA. USDA said they do not or have not had the file for the past 20 days, yet Carrington claimed to have sent the document and told me they were waiting on an answer and I would get the answer on a specific day.
Well they lied to me and 20 days past without them doing anything. My loan should have closed by now and I have had it with their lies. I feel they need to pay for what they did to me. It should be equal to my fire insurance. So I called my fire insurance agent. Called FEMA. Both agreed that I had enough coverage. Carrington said that my fire insurance should be twice what my home is worth and that my flood insurance should be that too. So if my home is worth a $100,000 I should have a policy that is worth $200,000. Really!? Called them both back! FEMA said I could do that but I would never get that amount back. My home is two blocks from the river. I switched fire insurance agencies because they wouldn't lower the insured amount. I never got a flood insurance policy from Carrington. So I still don't know how much my home is insured for. Only know that my mortgage payment went up $150 more per month.
Today I got a letter stating that my flood gap insurance had been cancelled. And that their records show that there had been a lapse in coverage. AND!!! The insurance premium for this lapse period is $190.41. I pay my mortgage every month on time. The insurance comes out of the escrow account. How could there be a lapse in coverage? I called Carrington. They inform me that I may not need flood gap insurance so I ask what changed. My house has not moved and neither has the river. The insurance department didn't know. I called the customer service department, which is a joke, and tried to explain the situation. The representative couldn't grasp what I was trying to tell her. September rolls around and the same thing happens. More phone calls to Carrington. Ditto for October and November. Here we are in December and it's STILL not fixed. I said I would not pay a fee because it's their error. He refused to waive the fee and directed me to the automated phone system, which has a $5 fee. The mortgage was transferred or "sold" to CMS from EMC back in 2007. We did not have our insurance or taxes in that mortgage payment so in 2013 decided to restructure loan to add these in and reduce our payments. Everything was fine. We made the regular payments to CMS on time but the restructuring was taking a very long time, not the few weeks they had stated. From November of 2013 until May of 2014 we made payments to CMS, they are even listed online in the statements section. CMS reported to all three credit bureaus that we did not make any payments for over 180 days!! Needless to say this has ruined our credit scores.
After more than 30 phone calls to CMS and disputing the late payment status on with the credit bureaus, we still have not gotten anywhere with this. I am going to have to get legal assistance to have this removed from the credit reports. No matter who I talk to at CMS, they come up with all different reasons why this shows... and one person who said it should not have and would fix it, but he has never done anything to fix the issue and now when I call he does not answer and does not call back. I recently wanted to change companies and CMS will not return their calls either. One other thing, our balance on the two mortgages with EMC was $180k, CMS has the balance at over $200k....seriously?? Can't get away from this company quick enough!!! I was in the middle of a loan modification with Chase, I kept calling to find out the status Sept 2013, Oct 2013 & Nov 2013 not one time was I told my loan sold. I finally got a lady Dec 2013 that told me the reason I had not received any communication was they no longer had my loan.
I started sending Carrington my payments along with the payments that had been returned from chase (2 which took 66 days to return because they did not have my loan). I got completely caught up on my payments "so I thought". I received a letter from Carrington Feb 2014 stating I was $5200 behind. I asked them how and what exactly was behind. I was told the fees of transferring my loan. TRANSFERRING MY LOAN? I didn't understand, they told me there were fees they occurred when they received my loan from Chase and I had to pay. This argument drag on for 3 months, I finally had to file bankruptcy to keep my house they started foreclosure proceeding.
I have begged for a mod, I have begged for a refinance. I had excellent credit before this and now have lost my new truck I had purchased before all this "Ford another story". I have to pay the trustee these "Fees they accrued when they got my loan" then Carrington sent me a letter saying I was behind on my escrow which by the way is not included in my payment. They have since raised my house payment from $752 to $1383. I cannot pay it and it tied up in bankruptcy and I can't sell it.. There should be something a person can do to stop this from happening. Loans should not be sold in my opinion. If I wanted to do business with Carrington I would have financed my house with them. I didn't - I financed with Chase..
Updated on 02/08/2016: I have read the reviews on this joke of a company. I am currently in bankruptcy strictly over my mortgage loan, Chase sold it to Carrington. After 7 payments of $753 Chase notified me and returned my payments, I contacted Carrington and with all the late fees I now owed $8600 not sure where they got that figure. I sent all the back payments that Chase sent to me and asked they deduct the late fees since I was not aware of my note selling. 4 months later after making monthly payments to Carrington I get a letter my loan has sold again back to Chase. In 2 years they have sold my loan back and forth 5 times. I had to file bankruptcy to keep my home. I was approved for a loan modification during 2 of the sales. Now after making all my payments on time and by the way they raised my house payment from $753 to $1,078, they sent me a demand letter I have 10 days to pay any arrears or be foreclosed on.
This is from Carrington "People like you we have no problem reselling the house, you have so much equity". I said "I do not understand. I have equity. Why would I not get anything out of it?", she said "we sale for pay off only". I owe $48,000 it is valued at $136,000. I am terrified they are going to take it away and there is nothing I can do. My bankruptcy lawyer has been no help. Any information someone can provide would greatly be appreciated.

The following month, my payment went UP again - I call each month and Carrington openly said that they made a MISTAKE. No one would ever totally explain the MISTAKE but it requires me to pay an extra $100 per month or yet ANOTHER $662 AS AN ESCROW SHORTAGE.
I recently told the customer service rep that I was enormously disappointed and that I would write to the commission hoping to get an answer. I just want to pay my bill - the lack of communication between myself and Carrington is enormous. I feel sorry for anyone that now has their mortgaged being serviced by them. I am exhausted and do not feel I am responsible for their admitted mistake. I was even denied the opportunity to have the NEW escrow shortage amount spread out over a few more months. I didn't even know that was happening and I started getting mail from this Carrington company and I happened to call them one day to ask them not to solicit to me, and that's when they told me they took over New Century's accounts. Needless to say, I was stuck dealing with this company since 2007.
I have had a few emergency circumstances arise, and had fallen behind in payments. I was a first time home buyer so I really didn't know too much, but I was begging with them if there was something I could do. I didn't want to lose my home, and I was offered a ridiculously high amount repayment plan. Almost twice the amount of what I make. They said, this was the only thing they could offer me. They do not have customer service skills and speak ignorantly to you and then hang up on you. The way they handle their customer accounts is unacceptable.
Their customer service representatives are unknowledgeable in providing correct information to inform the customer, they give the wrong information and I was not aware that my loan was close to foreclosure, which to me, I should have been told if I was getting close to that, and the numerous calls that I made and spoke to so many reps and not one person advise me of that, and since they didn't and since no one got back with me, the total kept accumulating, and then I reported them to the IDFPR, demanded someone to call me back, which they did at 8 o'clock at night, but I fell asleep early that night from not feeling well, so when I tried to call back, all I kept getting was a voice mail, leaving messages and no one returning my call, time passing by and money adding up with the late fees. They are quick to add the fees daily, because probably over a 1000 calls and contacts to them to resolve my situations, not one person got back to me, and I was given one amount one day, and minutes later given another amount, and then 2 days later almost $2000 more was added after I was told no attorney fees were going to be added.
And now, I requested a repayment plan, and I am offered a $3600, literally almost $3600. How is that possible. One will only be able to pay this one bill and won't be able to buy food or pay utilities, and god forbid if an emergency happens. This is the worst company ever!!! Do not get your loan through them, heed the reviews. There is so much more, but it gives me a headache to have to think about how they handled my account.

We bought our house in 2001. When we bought our house we started with Ocwen Mortgage then they sold it to Centry Mortgage who sold it to Carrington maybe around 2006 or 07. We have had nothing but problems since!! Our balance when it was sold to Carrington was around 50,000 and it's now 2014 and our balance is over 90.000. We tried to modify, we sent over all our paperwork and waited and waited to hear from them and then I got a letter from them stating we were denied because we didn't send in our paperwork and I had the proof we did in the email. The guy sent me we were dealing with telling me he got everything so I told them I sent it to that guy and they told me he no longer worked there so they couldn't get them so I would have to send them all over again. That wasn't a problem but why does that guy that no longer worked there have all my paperwork if he no longer worked there? Shouldn't that be against the law? Shouldn't they be the ones that had it and not someone who no longer worked there? Really?
So all this so I sent it back again and it took them almost a year to tell me I was denied and now I was going to owe them over 16,000 split up over 3 months to catch up my Mortgage or I was going to lose my house and they charged me late fees for every month after they told me not to pay it and I was calling there all the time never to get any answers. So last Oct 2013 we made our first payment of 5,400.00 paying from a settlement from a car accident that I was in. Nov. paid another 5,400.00 that was the rest of my settlement and money we struggled to come up with by selling whatever we could, going without eating. Now keep in mind we work very hard for our money and we live paycheck to paycheck with very little left for any extras and I didn't know where that last Dec payment of 5,400.00 since we already sold everything we could. And my son said he would take a loan out and he would make the payments on it so we didn't lose our house only for us to get served with papers in Sept. from the county sheriff that our house was going up for sheriff sale on Sept. 11 due to unpaid taxes which I was told were included in my mortgage. They always were.
I never paid my own taxes. They were always escrowed but all of a sudden Carrington told me they weren't included only my insurance was escrowed. I didn't have the money for the taxes so I kept calling Carrington and they finally paid them the last day possible then I got my monthly bill and my payment went from 667.00 to 1,340.00. I called them and told them I can't afford that payment so they said well they added our taxes that they just paid and they spread it out over a year and said they would put a request in for 2 years. So they did and it was accepted which took my payment to 1,020.00 and I called back again and asked them if they were trying to make us lose our home. We can't afford a payment like that so they stretched it over 3 yrs making the payment 975.00. Maybe if I live with no gas, electric, and water I can do it but that's just too high and could they stretch it out longer and I'm still waiting to hear back from them.
We have been in our house for 13 yrs and I just don't know how Carrington has our balance at over 90,000 dollars when it was at 50,000 when it was sold to them. We never had a problem with our mortgage or paying it until Carrington took it over. What they are doing to people has to be illegal. How can they get away with this? It's like they want us to lose our house. It's always something with them. If there is a class action, I'm in. Please somebody do something to help hold them accountable.

We need to reach out the our president, congressmen, a lawyer, whomever, for HELP. These companies should not be allowed to get away with this type of behavior and practice. People work too hard for their homes for them to just sit back and strategize how to take it away! I pray and hope someone in power and or authority read these comments and provide some type of assistance and or guidance on how to get a resolution for ALL OF US!! It has to be against the LAW.

Bank of America sold my loan to Carrington and since then I've had problems with customer service and their tone of speaking to customers when asked a question. I received a statement for late payments of almost $5,000.00. One person told my attorney that my mortgage was $1,011.04 but I received a statement for $4,730.47 and was told my payments had not been received and my amount due was $987.92. I called the next day and was told the amount due each month was $1,214.81. I called every number listed until someone who spoke with respect told me my correct payment each month is $1,214.81 and I will receive a new statement for November and December. Now I'm writing this review. They are not a good company and I will be looking forward to finding a new loan.

Well, it looks like we aren't the only ones who were with Bank of America and then sold off to Carrington Mortgage this past August. Earlier this year, my husband and I fell upon some tough financial times when he became injured at the beginning of the year and was out of work for over 4 months after having 2 surgeries and I also took a significant pay cut at my previous job. During that time, we gradually started to fall behind on our bills, mortgage payments included. In early to mid-May, we were about to be 2 payments behind on our mortgage, so I contacted Bank of America for some help. At that time, I had just obtained a new, much higher paying job with a new company and my husband was going to be returning to work within a few weeks, so we would be able to afford our payments again.
I had asked BOA for just a simple repayment plan, but they insisted that I needed to fill out the entire RMA packet and send in all of our financial info to see if we could get a modification or some other form of assistance. We already received a modification back in 2012 and we didn't want to go through that whole hellish process again, so I told them we really just needed a simple, informal repayment plan to get us caught back up since we were only 2 payments behind, but they told me that wasn't an option, which I now know was an outright lie. We have a USDA guaranteed loan and according to USDA's website, the mortgage servicer much consider things such as repayment plans before requesting special mortgage servicing, i.e. modifications, etc.
Anyway, that is where our problems began. Bank of America strung us along for nearly 3 months with no answers whatsoever. Then, they informed us in the middle of July that our loan was going to be transferred to Carrington effective August 1, 2014. I was extremely upset about this as we were right in the middle of trying to get mortgage assistance. Ironically, the very same day that BOA notified us of our loan's pending transfer, they denied our request for assistance, claiming that they could not come up with any affordable solutions for us, which was total crap. We were only 2 payments behind and had plenty of income to get our account caught up in a relatively short period of time!
During the second week of August, I contacted Carrington and they assigned me a direct point of contact, who was able to set us up with a 5-month repayment plan (why couldn't BOA have done that in the first place???). We made the first payment on that plan on September 1st with no problem. However, right before the second payment was due, we unfortunately had unauthorized, fraudulent activity on our checking account and it was going to take our bank 7-10 business days to do the investigation and get our money back. I explained this to Carrington. The payment was due on 10/1 and I explained to Carrington what had happened and told them I could schedule the payment for my next pay day, which would be 10/15, which I thought would be fine since it would still be paid before the next payment was due, but apparently it was not fine.
They told me that I had to pay within 3 days or else the repayment plan would be canceled. They then told me that one option would be to let this repayment plan cancel out, which it would within a few days if the payment was not made, and then they could set us up with a new 3-month repayment plan. The payment would obviously be higher, but we would be all caught up and back to normal within just 3 months, so I agreed to do that. They then told me that they would call me within a few days once this repayment plan canceled out so that we could set up the new one.
Well, fast forward to a few days later, Carrington called me and informed me that the original repayment plan had been canceled and we could now proceed with setting up the new one. I said great, let's do it. There was then a moment of silence on the line and she then asked if she could put me on hold for a minute, so I said "sure, no problem." A few minutes later, she came back and said "unfortunately, because of the type of USDA loan you have, we cannot set up a new repayment plan." I was furious! Had she told me this several days earlier instead of telling me to let the original repayment plan cancel and then set up a new one, I could have found SOME way to get the money to be able to make the payment in time and keep our repayment plan intact, even if it meant having to borrow from family, which I would have hated to do, but would have if it came to that, but instead I was blatantly lied to and given completely false information.
Later that day, I sent an email to the CEO of Carrington expressing my anger and frustration about what had happened and the situation they put us in. We now had no repayment plan and they claimed they were unable to set up a new one, even after assuring me several days earlier that they would be able to. I was then contacted by a customer advocate from Carrington, who had me fill out all of the same RMA paperwork that Bank of America had us do and had us send that along with all of our financial documents in to try and get assistance. It has now been weeks since we sent those in and they just keep telling us that they have sent everything to USDA for their approval.
We have been dealing with this mess for SIX MONTHS now and I am SICK OF IT!!!!! We are people who simply fell upon some unfortunate times earlier this year, but are now back on our feet and can easily afford to make our mortgage payments, but just need some help bringing our loan current and it seems like NO ONE WANTS TO HELP US!!!! I am so sick of being lied to by this company and being made to jump through a million tiny, fiery hoops just to try and get some help!!!

New Century Mortgage had our loan, I signed no papers with them to sell my loan. I have documentation, then it was sold to Carrington Mortgage Service. New Century said they transferred to another office, transferred - not sold, nice way to get around that one. Then things started to get ugly. To make a long story short, ended up with a loan mod, took my payments down 300 plus a month, but had a clause the loan would be due in three years, a balloon. Couldn't do that, then they stated foreclosure, two law firms later and several years.
Wells Fargo was the trustee for Carrington who stepped in and took my home. My loan was with New Century, Carrington would not work with me and Wells Fargo got the home a real shell game. This all started in 2006. Carrington is still reporting I owned the home in 2014 Slamming my credit and you can't get a straight answer out of anyone - different story. Every person you talk to, they are reporting it wrong to credit bureaus. I can't get rid of this company. Congressman and consumer affairs I guess is where I go next. My Husband and I applied for Mortgage assistance in May of 2014. We have called over the phone to Bank America to try and get help, before May 2014 and we were turned down, when gave them #s of our income and our Bills. We sent half payments on our Loan and it was sent back. We were told they can’t accept partial payments. We were told we were both working and they could not help us. In July 1st 2014 I called Bank America again and begged for help. They told me this time I could apply, that there were new programs to help us.
I worked with a Specialist, from the Mortgage assistance program. I worked with him from May 20th to August 30th 2014. He was very pleasant and professional to work with. And he also praised me for working hard to get my documents in to him in a timely manner. Then I received a letter from Bank America, telling me they would no longer handle my Mortgage, as of Aug. 30th 2014. My Mortgage was transferred to Carrington Mortgage service. After reading the letter I call and ask “What about my Mortgage Assistance? Told me at time, our file was with the underwriters for review and everything would be transferred over to Carrington Mortgage”. They told me they might want additional paper work, but they would have everything he had.
After waiting a couple of weeks for everything to get into place, I called Carrington Mortgage. I ask them about my Assistance, they told me at that time they were still reviewing my file. I told them I was worried because I haven’t gotten a check to make my Mortgage payment, I was told “IF YOU CAN’T MAKE YOUR PAYMENT JUST SIT BACK AND RELAX AND WAIT FOR THE DECISION THEY ARE MAKING”. I told them I can’t do that. I called in Sept to make my Payment over the phone, for which I had just received a paycheck and I wanted it to be posted quickly, at that time I asked about our Assistance. The Lady who I was talking to, and I did not get her name, told me “Yes you have been approved”. I asked her “So what do I do now?” She told me they would notify me by phone or mail to set up an appointment to do the paper work because everything had to be notarized.
Well when I came home from work, a letter from Carrington in the mail, wanting more documentation. Updated pay stubs, Bank Statements, I could not send but one pay stub because that is the only check I had received at the time. My Husband had 4 as they wanted (1 month) everything else I had. Then they wanted a copy of Satisfaction on a loan just in my name for $128568.00. I called them and they told me it was in Wanda ** name, 2005, in the state of Mich. I told them that was not me. I have nothing like that. Someone must of stole my SS #. They replied “A lot of people have that name, it could be a mistake”. I said “But when you buy something that much in money you need a SS#”. They never replied. I was talking to another lady. I called this # but never do I get a return call. I was told that I would get updates on my File but I have not received any.
I called Oct. 15, 2014 to Carrington to make a payment, and to let them know I had just faxed a copy of my other Paycheck stub and was told “I cannot accept your payment of $922.78”, I would have to pay $6000.00 or nothing. I told her I could not pay that much money at one time. She then transferred me to a man in the Mortgage Assistance Department. At that time I told him about the conversation about the payment. He told me then, “I can accept your payment. You are in a Mortgage Assistance program”. I told him I had just faxed over the pay stub they were wanting, and could he explain about the loan of $128568.00. Once again I was told “A lot of people have your name, it could be a mistake”. I once again asked, “But what about my SS#?” He said they were checking into it. But there is nothing in my credit report. But this is what they are saying is holding up our Assistance decision.
My husband and I have never felt so under pressure as we do now. We paid our Bills. All we ever asked for was help to bring us current with our Loan. It’s not my husband fault, His company Filed his wages in Bankruptcy $11,000, 2 years later they awarded him $1,500.00, with us almost losing everything. So things are looking up, but I can’t see how people do not get help when it is needed from their Mortgage. So as I am sitting here writing this letter to try and get help, and I just received a Letter From Carrington. They want us to pay 1,984.00 a month. They didn't help us, they hurt us.

Carrington took over the loan mod and it was, we thought, smooth sailing. The problem is that Carrington started reporting to all three credit reporting agencies that we were first 30 then 60 and now as 90 days delinquent. When I've called customer service to talk to them I get absolutely no place. I have asked to a supervisor, a manager. There is never ever one available. This, of course, has put both my husband's and my credit scores in the basement. Simply we want it recorded truthfully which is never late. It's hard enough to have a good credit score so no one needs this crap.

We were with BOA and they sold our mortgage to Carrington in 8-2014. I am disabled with 2 children and things are so hard even with the basics. BOA was doing a remodification for us. After putting us through hell, always wanted more papers of what they already had, we were told it was in the process, nothing else we had to do but wait to hear from. We get a letter saying they sold our mortgage to Carrington. We could not and did not hear from them for over a month. The first guy I talked to was very nice and said they had nothing bad on our mortgage and we would be contacted after their review of the paperwork that BOA said they had sent.
The next woman I talked to and have tried to talk to has been nothing but snippy and rude. We got VA involved and they said they would consider help for us and to send paperwork. I have been getting the paperwork together ASAP to get it to them within their less than 2 week timeline. I received a letter yesterday saying they are foreclosing. What is going on BOA sells out from under us, Carrington want nothing to do with trying to Help and they don't seem to care about their customers or their reputation. They don't care about families and helping keep a roof over our heads. Nothing seems to matter to them but taking our home. This is in no way fair or even ethical. Recently i filled out all the paper work for a hamp program with carrington, after being approved i began the 3 month trial period, beginning in July 14. The July payment went to money gram express, made the payment the first like supposed to, august 14 the same thing, then September the same thing. In September i received a call from carrington wanting to know how i wanted to make up the past due on my account. I kindly explained to the individual my circumstances, and she said "well you are in default". I was like "why?" "August payment we never received." I immediately pulled out my receipts, for July, August and September. She transferred me to another dept, had to start the whole spiel over again. By the way, had to do this 5 times in this conversation alone. Only to find out, i needed to call money gram and find out why in the heck carrington did not receive my august payment. So here we go again, 12 calls later to money gram, this individual gets on, and researches it and comes back, "oh yes that is for refund for you." I'm like "No, no not for me, send to my mortgage."
They come back and say mortgage company rejected it. "No way," "oh yes sir, we have refund for you." Now this was 30 days later. I'm like, "why in the hell am i having to call you to find out i have a refund?" "Oh here's your reference number, you go to any money gram and they give back." Ok, so the calls to carrington start again, quicker this time thankfully, and i explain this to the agent. I knew he didn't believe me. I told him i would go get the refund and resend it. He said not to, the program was in default. I told him i paid them on time, "you are the ones who rejected it." Now hold on to your britches for this, he said "no sir you defaulted", i said "how in the hell can you say that when you rejected the payment on a day earlier than when it was due?" i messed up, paid it 2.00 short, yes 2.00. Now if someone would have let me know i still had time to get it in on time.. GO figure. Any input on this one? I am starting to get concerned. I have a special needs child, and no other place to move to. Is there ANY help out there i can go after?

Without them I never would have gotten Carrington to straightened out that fiasco last December of 2013. Two days ago I received a pay off statement for the total balance of the mortgage I have with them, but I never requested a payoff. I do not have that kind of money to request the payoff. I called Carrington yesterday to inquire about the payoff. The customer rep told me that a Seidel law firm requested the payoff. There is no contact information about this Seidel law firm. What do I do now call my local congressman & start my whole process again filing complaints against Carrington? Is this another attempt of theirs to push me into foreclosure so they can sell my house out from under me? I have a long frustrating process ahead of me. I would like to file a class action suit against this company. Does anyone know how this can be done?

I have contacted them several times and each time get different excuses. One person implies I don't know what I'm talking about. The next person tells me they are missing the June payment and to fax my bank statements to prove I paid. The next person tells me that the June payment is there but my July payment is missing.
They seriously need to get their lies straight so they don't keep telling me different things. They also said that my payment was going to be more because they did a new escrow analysis and they are not collecting enough when BOA had just lowered my payment and sent me a check because they had collected too much. Besides faxing all my bank statements I also sent them a copy of my hazard insurance premium amount as well as my property tax to prove the amount they claim to need is the amount that they are truly paying. I spoke to a supervisor who claims he was going to work on it but he has yet to return my call. I have made 3 full month payments to Carrington and for some reason I still owe for the month of October. I am sick and tired of this company trying to rob me of my hard-earned money and will be more than happy to start a lawsuit.

1 Star says I'm "Angry", but they need one that shows that I AM MFing PISSED!!!!! My husband became a member of the US Army and we've been sent to at least 3 duty stations since 2008, this meant that we had to leave our home. We've been maintaining 2 homes by renting 1 out and living in on-post housing, but when we fell on hard times, in 2012, we decided to sell the one we could no longer afford. We began a "Short sale" process with BOA in March of 2013 and finally received an offer which was about $20,000 less than what was owed on the mortgage, but about $10,000 less than it was appraised.
Apparently BOA was not impressed, so they drew out the "Short sale" process for approx. 6 months and we lost the buyer. Since then, there has been no new interest in the property, but we did receive a response from BOA on 21 December, that said we had been approved for the "Short sale" (something I thought was already decided when they seemed to have "unofficially" accepted the offer earlier) and our 90 days, after which they would "buy the house back" from us for exactly what we owed. They did ask us to really try to sell the house (something we were already doing, by advertising through Century 21) and they would give us a few bucks, but when the 90 days were expired, they sent us a note that our "Short sale" was disapproved.
We decided to attempt a "deed-in-lieu" which is basically, give them back the house and be done with it. The deed-in-lieu was approved until we were awaiting the arrival of the final legal papers in June 2014, when we received message that BOA had sold our loan to Carrington Mortgage Services. We were told that the process would continue at the same point it was left off from BOA, but we still haven't been able finalize the process. My insurance company cancelled my insurance because the home has been vacant for over a year and now Carrington is "threatening" to purchase an overpriced policy for which I will be held financially responsible. We've been dealing with this far too long and I'm ready to take to the next echelon in order to get a resolution.

Then the VERY first payment we mailed went astray b/c we sent it to Countrywide and the loan had already been bought out, transferred to or obtained by BA. I found out that all of Countrywide's loan paperwork was confiscated by the Federal Gov't. Not very encouraging for us. Then later, we found out that Countrywide was a part of BA... Seriously?
So, last week we received a letter from BA stating that our loan was to be transferred to Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC. We are/were current with BA and have also been paying an extra $75-100 per month directly towards the principal. B of A was always a hassle to deal with, but from what I've read here so far... whoa. I have spoken with Carrington only once, earlier today and that was in an attempt to determine our loan number as we have yet to get our "Hello Letter." I could not get the ball rolling quick enough on my refinance in March. I have called them numerous times and never can get a warm body on the phone that can help me with my account. I always have to leave a message, and never, ever get the courtesy of a return phone call. Though they claim that I never leave messages, nor are they able to leave me a message on my phone, my phone is a cell phone that is always with me and has never been incapable of accepting messages. I have also sent numerous emails through their website, without much luck.
It is now July, and I am still trying to get corrected information from Carrington. One day they tell me that I have no fees against my account, the next month I have $575.00. It took them a full month to research the fees to find out they made a clerical error and credited me $287.50. The remainder was for "attorney fees". Which they would not explain, other than they could legally charge. As of yesterday I was ready to pay the $287.50 just for them to go away. Well, I just opened my last joke of a mortgage statement and the $287.50 is for default charges? It took me just about two minutes to determine that my March payment is not posted on my account, though it cleared my bank via ACH with their name on it in March. UGH!!! I mailed my June payment on the 11th of June, it didn't clear my bank until July 2nd. Really???
They are the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I have contacted the state, as of today, three times. Perhaps if an employee would just answer the phone, we could get this cleared up in about 10 minutes. Instead, it's five months later, thousands of dollars paid to them and my blood pressure rising every time I think about it. If there is a class action lawsuit on these guys Sign Me Up!!! I work for a local television station that has a consumer call for action group, but unfortunately, I cannot use them as being an employee of the company. Oh, I am sure this story is... to be continued.

According to my research, nearly 20% of the 50,000 mortgages Chase sold to Carrington are in default. My research has revealed that Carrington has established a pattern of using unethical business practices that are associated with predatory lending schemes.
Our loan was not considered sub prime. My husband and I always pay our bills, and we pay them on time. We never had a single issue during the 4 years we were with Chase. In fact we often paid extra toward principal so we pay our mortgage off early. From day one we had issues with Carrington. By law the lender who sold the mortgage must send a Goodbye Letter, and then within 15 days a Hello Letter must be received from the new lender. The Hello Letter must contain the name of an actual person, and a direct contact number for that person should the homeowner have and questions, issues or concerns. Our Hello Letter from Carrington only provided a 800 number for a department, and failed to meet required laws for providing specific information.
Our 1st payment to Carrington was due on the 5 year anniversary of our mortgage, which was December 2013. Soon after making our 1st payment we received a letter from Carrington demanding proof of insurance. The letter stated that if we failed to provide proof of insurance, Carrington would purchase insurance that was likely more expensive, and would also attach a fee. I immediately called the number Carrington provided in the Hello Letter, only to be frustrated with the confusing automated menu. I left numerous messages, but never received the courtesy of a reply. I called Chase to verify the status of our insurance, since we pre-paid for our insurance by monthly payments to our escrow account. Chase told me liability for the account was released to Carrington after our November payment, and that all the money held in our escrow to pay our insurance/taxes was already released to Carrington. I requested Chase to send a reminder notice to Carrington regarding our insurance premiums being due that month, but still heard nothing from Carrington.
Finally after a dozen or more calls placed to Carrington, I was able to finally speak with an actual person. However, it took me explaining my story 3 times before reaching someone who could actually assist me. All of this during the hectic month of December. Then without notice, or reason Carrington elected to terminate our mortgage insurance in February 2014. We had mortgage insurance to protect us should the unthinkable happen, and as it provided extra security since we own/operate a business. I began sending e-mails, and leaving telephone messages requesting our mortgage insurance be reinstated, but never received a response.
A couple months ago we began receiving phone calls from Carrington requesting us to refinance with them for a lower interest rate. They harass us by calling us several times a day, nearly everyday of the week, including Sundays. Despite telling them we're not interested in refinancing with them, they continue to call and send e-mails. On June 26th they ran an unauthorized credit report that resulted in a hard hit to our credit.
I'm an independent inventor with issued utility patents from the USPTO. I enjoy finding solutions to problems, so I created a petition on Change.org that urges legislatures to create legislation to protect homeowners when mortgages are sold. Please join me in my fight to grant homeowners the legal rights, and respect we deserve. It's not fair that the lenders have all the power, while we're powerless. As a homeowner we should be informed prior to the sell of our mortgage, and be given a choice in selecting a new lender. You can sign my petition at www.change.org and searching for a petition by April Cantley titled Government Legislators: Pass legislation to protect current, and future homeowners when lenders sell mortgages. Please share with family and friends, the more supporters the petition has, the more powerful a tool it becomes.

I had a mortgage with Chase for years then they sold it to Carrington and for no reason they raise my payment $87 a month. I tried calling them and get an explanation. The first call they said it was my taxes. I called the county checked on my taxes - they went at four dollars a month. Then I called the insurance company check and see if my insurance went up - it lowered about two dollars a month. I called Carrington back and they could not give me an explanation why my payment went up $87 a month. I know $87 don't see much but it put me over-the-top and now I have to have my house up for sale. If anybody read this or have any idea please get back with me. I'm getting disgusted. I'm being screwed by the big-time mortgage companies Obama bailed them out and we're paying for. Thanks for reading.

Now I have been with this company for 4 months and it's a all day thing to make a mortgage payments when I call. They're busy assisting other customers all day. June 14, 2014 I called to make a payment. Same thing again. Left numerous messages. Called all the day or up until the phone said they were closed for the day. They're closed on the weekend so now I'm late. I'll have start over on Monday. It's almost as if they want you to be late. After hearing all the complaints of this company now I'm worried. No one should have to endure this especially when trying to do right. Something needs to be done about this kind of conduct within a company that deals with people's lives, hard working people.

My husband and I closed on our home in January 2014. Our mortgage payment included our property taxes and insurance and other applicable insurances. We received a letter 2 months later stating that they received information that the taxes listed at closing were less than what our actual taxes were. Subsequently, our mortgage payment increased by $126 a month. When I contacted the Assessors office, we found that the property tax listed at closing were actually overstated by a couple of thousands of dollars more than what our taxes currently were.
I sent Carrington mortgage a copy of the tax bill. They accepted the figures and they paid the quarterly taxes according to the tax bill but still has yet to reduce our mortgage payment and escrow payment according to the correct figures on the tax bill. After contacting them and asking what information was received in the first place that caused them to increase our escrow payment, I was told that they didn't know. To date, we have not receive a refund and neither has the payment gone down to align with what our tax bill support. I was told that a tax analysis will be done this month and that our payment should go down significantly. We'll see.

Our mortgage was sold to Carrington Mortgage about 6 months ago. We have had 2 offers on our home with Carrington before we finally got an approval for a short sale after having the contract 3 weeks. We were given 4 days to get a deal together and close on our home. On closing day we tried to get a hold of Carrington to let them know we were closing but questions need to be answered. No one would answer our emails or phone calls till I demanded I needed to speak to someone ASAP. This was 4 pm that my call was finally answered. I was told my file was closed and it was to late, that my home may now go into foreclosure. Then he went on to say we may open the file back up sometime next week before Friday but no guarantees. This is horrible business practice to steal people's homes.

In December 2013, Chase sold my mortgage to Carrington. They stated that there was a shortage in my escrow. I requested to know where it was from considering my taxes and insurance had both gone down. They could not tell me. So my payment went from $550.00 a month to $673.00 and then two months after the first increase, I now get a letter today stating that they are raising my payment yet again do to some escrow shortage and now claim I am short $1006.51 and my new payment is going to be $731.00.
I again called and they said they made a supplement payment and that left my escrow short but could not tell me where the supplement was paid (taxes, insurance, etc). I also see there is a hazardous insurance they are requiring on top of my insurance I already pay. I never had these problems with Chase and in fact got surplus checks back from them. I guess they are trying to make a single mom lose her home.

Bank of America sold my loan to Carrington due to my past due amount (couldn't meet my monthly payments after being hurt on the job) owed. After months of going thru what we assumed was a normal loan modification, my Carrington loan modification specialist (employee of the week) told my real estate agent and myself that I had been approved.
The Carrington rep said, as long as you don't have any problems with the 3 month probationary time frame, you have qualified for a 30 year loan with a locked interest rate of 4.3%. We were all so excited, we couldn't believe our prayers had been answered, or so we thought!?!? We expected they would send paperwork confirming what we were told, I guess hoping would have been more accurate? We never received any paper work confirming what Carrington or the agent said but, they never missed a beat getting us our monthly payment. We were so excited that after so many months of uncertainty, we just paid the mortgage like normal. I guess it was an out of sight, out of mind? We figured it come fed X/UPS when least expected. Never received anything from Carrington?
My fiance and I felt good, felt like we were getting a fresh start together. A few months after getting through our Carrington probationary 3 month trial period we felt great. We sent off 3 more regular payments, all of which were cashier's checks/registered mail (just making sure there would be no error on our part), just to make sure we were good. My fiance and I decided to get married!
Knowing the wedding was coming up we wanted the house to look good for our family and friends. We felt good about sinking a little money into the house, it had been so long since we had? We held off on putting any money into the house because we thought we were going to lose it to foreclosure, the house needed some minor work? We put between $10-15k into the house (replacing aluminum wiring dangers, ongoing plumbing issues), we wanted a little curb appeal for the wedding! We wouldn't have invested any money into the house if we didn't think that our mortgage was back on track?
Once we got back from our honeymoon, Carrington started blowing up my phone! I work in construction and I can't always hear/feel my phone ringing (which I had explained on multiple occasion to my Carrington representative), I asked if they could email me during the day time? Thinking I might not be able to write down something they needed or miss something due to the construction noise. I wouldn't think this would be very difficult for a major mortgage company to do? We really tried to call once we got off work, everyone at Carrington was gone, I guess?
Every few weeks after being notified that Carrington was going to do our loan modification, we would receive a letter from them about our (their) agent. The letter would always state, YOUR NEW agent is....and that would change every three weeks or so? Then whenever we could call Carrington during normal business hours, the extension for our new rep wouldn't work? Even after entering the extension number of the Carrington representative multiple time, we couldn't get thru. If we were lucky enough to get thru to the operator, their answer was always the same...he/she no longer works here. It gets a little frustrating after you always hear our file was given to a different department or rep! We very rarely had the same representative handling our file once we got to the 3 month probationary period.
On Monday May 19, 2014 a Carrington representative called me, she made no small talk about what she wanted which blindsided my wife and I! I had never talked to her before, nor had she emailed or left me a message. After she made sure we were living in our house, last 4 digits of the social security number (blah blah), she asked what we intended to do with the house? Why would you ask this, isn't everything going good? She replied with a very fast and sarcastic NO! Then she went on to tell me that if we didn't come up with $80K or short sale, the house was going back into the foreclosure process. Of course I went straight to HOW, WHY, WHAT?!?!
We made 10 plus payments to Carrington without ever being 15 days late. We made our 3 probationary payments flawless, no hiccups whatsoever. In the middle of the process, they changed our monthly payments by raising it $200 (with no written notification) without telling us. I called Carrington for 2 weeks trying to figure out what we needed to do? She replied, "if you have not received a letter (that needed to be signed and returned), keep paying the same original payment." Scared to death something might go wrong, we started sending Carrington the original monthly payments, plus $200. Then Carrington mortgage services LLC representative said that we should have been paying the original monthly plus $200 a month thru the whole process......PLUS A LATE FEE! I wonder why they never sent anything in writing!?!
At this point we decided an attorney needs to be involved. I wanted to be very accurate at what we were given by Carrington and what payments have gone out. I stopped at the bank to get a printout of each check Carrington cashed of ours. The bankers and I were having a very difficult time proving Carrington was actually the recipient of the checks. We could see that there were no photo copies or endorsements of the checks but, they were still cashed. I asked how something like this could happen? The only thing my bankers could say was, it could be an offshore account (their words, not mine)?
Five days have gone by since I've been given an ultimatum by Carrington, and this is what I have come up with: We most likely are going to lose the house. Carrington mortgage service LLC has received somewhere around $38,000.00 in 9 months (consecutively) and we have nothing to show for it. We are going to have to pay a huge sum of money out of our pocket (which we don't have) to an attorney who may or may not have a case. Carrington has not registered one payment to the credit bureau that we have made but, reported that they bought the loan from Bank of America (original loan holder).
According to the latest credit report (May 20, 2014), Carrington has reported that 5 of the 9 payments have been late (late is 15 days after the due date), even after 7 of the 9 mortgage payments went out 1 day mail 3 days before the due date. How is any of this possible? Something is really wrong with this whole thing! I just hope we're not homeless while or during a class action lawsuit against this so called debt relief portion of this so called mortgage company.

I'm in the same situation. Chase sold my mortgage to Carrington as well. 1st got the house in 2007, and every year the payment has gone down due to too much escrow being paid. Now that Carrington takes over, the payments are back to where they were in 2008-2009. Also when the change happened, I was told not to make a payment till I got the paperwork, which didn't come for 3 months, which put me behind. They set up a repayment plan, and they guaranteed me that there would be no late fees. I followed the plan and got my account all caught up, and now this month the payment returns to normal. Only thing is, they raised the payment amount due to "Chase not taking enough escrow" and they hit me with 5 months' worth of late fees.
On top of all that, there are virtually no payment options. I was lied to and told that I could make online payments with a credit/debit card. You can only mail it in, do a costly Western Union transfer, or use your bank acct, which I do not have. You also can't pay any additional principal online, only the normal payment amount. What kind of 3rd rate company is this? I wish I could get Chase to buy the loan back. Never had any problems with them.

Through the processing of waiting and changing the closing date 2 times with extensions, they charged me a high appraisal amount of 475.00 and when they found a door trim not painted they went back in and debited my account a second time taking an additional 150.00 without my permission. I took a mortgage out on Feb. 28 of 2014 with Carrington Mortgage for a home in Port Charlotte Florida. As of this post, I still have not received a payment slip. I sent my first payment in to Carrington and it was received and attempted to be cashed. I found out on the day they were trying to cash my check for $1,000.00 that they were trying to cash it for $6,000.00. I was lucky enough to stop at my bank that morning after my ATM/Debit card was refused that morning for insufficient funds and found this out. My bank assured me that they would not process the request for $6,000.00 as I showed them my carbon copy of the check I had written to Carrington was very clearly for only $1,000.00.
I contacted Carrington Mortgage Services and got the explanation that the loan number I gave them was invalid. After giving my phone number and then my SSI number, the person brought up my account and yes in fact they did show a $6,000.00 payment. I explained that that was not possible as the check I sent was for only $1,000.00. I was told to send a copy of my check to them before they could do anything about this. I told them no I would not do this as the fault is theirs in this matter. The person I spoke with was not helpful at all so I asked for a supervisor and was finally connected.
The supervisor gave me my new account number and took my other info regarding their mistake and told me that I would get a statement each month after the first payment is paid and they would have to investigate my complaint as to the $6,000.00 they attempted to withdraw from my checking account. I requested a call back on this matter and again gave my phone number.
To me and my bank this is attempted fraud on Carrington's part as the check is clearly filled out as was the payment slip I received at closing to use until I received an actual monthly statement. Yes I also jumped thru hoops with their representative in Florida also just one day before closing for some papers needed that really weren't needed. I am seriously worried after reading the posted complaints on this site about Carrington. I was going to set up direct payment but have reconsidered that as they cannot even do a check payment right.

My sympathy to all others who are experiencing my same issue with Carrington Mortgage Services. Most of my story is a mirror of the many listings of unethical business practices by this company that is acting as a front-man for Deutsche. I too have been forced into foreclosure. I have worked for more than a year to get help and each time I came within inches of another solution to save my family home, Carrington would change the guidelines (that are never fully explained) or come up with another ridiculous excuse for not continuing to work with me. And each time they were up to something no-good I would know because any of the representatives that WERE working with me would suddenly stop communicating back.
At one point I was given details of what a repayment plan would look like and it was for an initial payment that I could manage by taking a withdrawal against my 401k plan. I spoke with the representative two days in a row - confirmed everything verbally - was given the payment amounts and told to wait for the letter from Carrington that I would need to sign. He even gave me the date of when the first payment was due. I made MANY attempts (all documented) to get the letter and/or details of where to send the first payment. After receiving NO communication back, and AFTER the date my first payment was due I received a letter in the mail from Carrington stating that they were denying my repayment plan due to "Unable to establish contact". I do not need to reaffirm to any of the fellow readers of this site of what a load of lies this was!
When Carrington stopped communicating back, I knew it meant they were up to no good and they proved it by sending that ridiculous excuse as proof. Three days before I even received the letter I had to give up to the reality that I was going to lose my house. I had contacted a real estate agent and began the process of a short sale. Through this whole entire process, Carrington has "not been able to locate" various documents, even after having confirmed they had been received, only to have them mysteriously show up in their system again. After refusing many times to honor the original verbal contract they had already presented (one that I could manage financially), Carrington then took it upon their generous (said sarcastically) selves to create a NEW repayment plan.
The new one had an initial payment that was more than double the first one. Good for them! Oh - and it gets better.....When THEY decided to offer me the new and totally unattainable plan, they also decided to take my short sale package request OUT of the process and throw me back into the "repayment" side of their universe. Sounds harmless but what resulted was a loss of another week in the short sale process, countless calls back and forth, and most importantly, the loss of precious time. But wait... there is more... When they did finally send me the NEW repayment plan - they sent me someone else's information altogether! I was left reading the fine details of another poor Carrington mortgage prisoner's repayment information. Bet those poor people would have been very upset to learn how well traveled their personal information was!
At the end of the day - Of course I spoke with lawyers. One was very confident that many civil codes were violated and that he could win a case for me against Carrington. Two major problems with that: 1) his cost would have been $10+K. If I had that kind of money I would not be in my current situation! and 2) the end result would be that I keep my home. Sounds like the result I have been working for, however, the home is almost 40% upside down; like many of you I was forced to make a decision to pay for groceries or keep Carrington and Deutsche fat and fed; the payment missed would be added to the end because Carrington CHOOSES not to participate in any principal reduction programs; and WHY...WHY... WHY would I want to continue to be owned by such an unethical company as Carrington and Deutsche?
I really believed in all the government hype that there would be assistance and help for me. In all my research and pleas for help (yes - I filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and my Senator's office) but NO ONE can say they have ever had success with Carrington. Read all the articles and the government is filing all types of lawsuits against the likes of Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase, etc. but yet this foreign bank is allowed to continue practicing like this! This totally frustrates me.
These are but a FEW of the antics I am going through with this company. If possible I would give Carrington 5 stars because they by far are the best at behaving the worst. I have had to come to terms with the inevitable loss of my home - which includes myself, two daughters trying to make it in the world, and my grandson. If I am lucky we will be able to meet all the silly and ever changing requirements Carrington comes up with daily and POSSIBLY get a short sale completed before the foreclosure date. Unfortunately, Carrington has managed to step on my spirit and I now can only look forward to not having to be tied to them any longer - even if it means losing my home to foreclosure. Just sad. To any other who have chosen to read my very long complaint - I hope the best for you because if you are here you too are looking for some hope.

In 2009 I was going to walk from my home. I traveled all the time and did not want to continue. However one day a statement came in the mail showing the account was current and my kids paid the payment. Now lo and behold Carrington has modified my mortgage with a balloon now due. I never received any modification papers and all they say is how lucky I am. Well I cannot afford to have a foreclosure now and I am still angry they will not rewrite/re-modify the mortgage back to original terms. I wanted nothing from this Government and just like health care, I am stuck with it. The State of Texas offered no assistance but to say they would fix it all if I paid all the difference in payments for the last 5 years. I NEVER AGREED TO THIS MODIFICATION IN WRITING. THEY ARE THIEVES.....

I currently have had Carrington Mortgage for 3 years now after Citi Mortgage sold it off to them. I have tried to get assistance with my home being that I have been under water on my home since 2009. I have had a battle for the past two and a half years getting a response much less any help. I've called so many times and they typically hang up the phone or transfer me around till the line is disconnected.
This company has not only provided the worst customer service but has only put me through the worst process of seeking any type of help. They have ridiculed and belittled me throughout this process and this company is only out to take my home. I have tried to even set up payment plans and work with them being that they won't provide any assistance and even with that I can't get help.
I have hundreds of pages of everything I have completed and sent to them over the past few years and yet they tell me it's lost or they don't have the time to look at my case. At this point I am so fed up that I have no choice to retain an attorney. I myself have worked in the mortgage industry for 15 years and this is the worst company by far. I am a mortgage underwriter who does consumer and loss mitigation loans and this is nothing that this company has ever handled, it's as though they are strictly a collection company with no business structure.

There are a whole bunch of the old employees at Carrington and it looks to me like they are taking up their old ways of scamming people that are down. Report to the FBI, we all did when it was Taylor Bean and Whitaker and now they pop up again. Scammers probably, I wish they had negative stars. I want to take some of theirs away.

We were in Chapter 13 with our mortgage with New Century out of California. New Century has now gone bankrupt and supposedly sold our lien to CMS but we have never received notice of this transaction. The bankruptcy courts have not been notified as well, and court has continued to issue the mortgage check to New Century all the time right up to being discharged from bankruptcy.
When finally getting a hold of someone from CMS, I was told that they took over our lien in 2007 and that our lien was discharged in Feb. of 2008 and there is no record of us making any payments. Even though I have documentation that they still received and cashed our bankruptcy checks (that were made out to New Century) through 2012. Also, all the while, while paying our payments we never received any tax documents for the last 4+ years. When trying to communicate with them to get a release or balance they never responded with the needed information. We want to refi but without a clearance or balance, it is not possible. I just want answers.

Something is definitely wrong. I guess we need to contact an attorney. It’s just sad that they make people go to that extent.

We requested a modification in September of 2012, only just now received an answer and only because I filed a complaint with the BBB. At least that is what the agent said. I have a theory about why and would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience.

My boyfriend and I were set to make settlement on our house after weeks of waiting for Carrington Mortgage to get all of their paperwork together. On the day of settlement, they told us that we needed a separation agreement filed in court for my boyfriend and his soon to be ex-wife. There is no legal separation recognized in the state of Pennsylvania, and this last minute document they were requesting would take weeks to get from the courts. Now, we are shopping for another mortgage and starting the whole process all over again. I had already given my intent to move letter to my landlord. So if he already has someone lined up for my apartment, worst case scenario is that me and my kids are out on the streets because this mortgage company just makes up rules as they go along. Then, I went online and saw existing bad reviews for this company. Thank God they screwed us over just for time, because everyone else posting got screwed out of thousands of dollars by this penny ante operation.

I was in foreclosure so Citi qualified me for a loan, gave me a trial modification agreement for 3 months, then sold the mortgage to Carrington. Now, Citi is cashing my payments and saying they did not receive it. I called Carrington and the answering machine stated that they are a collection agency. Great, Citi sold my loan to a collection agency and they are trying not to honor the trial modification. They told me when my loan transfers to Carrington on 7/20/12, the modification will too. But meanwhile, they are trying to railroad me into losing my home. The reviews on Carrington Mortgage Services are horrible and they will not honor loan modifications. If they do, it's under different terms, which means my mortgage will go up several hundred dollars. It is more beneficial for them to purchase loans at a really reduced cost, then foreclose and earn a profit. Someone should put these predators out of business.

We have made on-time, interest-only payments for six years on our home. Carrington was the third lender to buy our loan. Somewhere along the way, the mortgage company, unbeknownst to us, stopped paying our property taxes, as was part of our original agreement. We made a payment arrangement with our county tax board, and were compliant with it, in fact, we had just made a payment in September 2011, when Carrington stepped in and paid off the balance without consulting us, then added $1,100 escrow to our monthly payment.
We requested documentation of their claim that they had been contacted by our county tax board; they have no documentation, and apparently have a subcontractor out there looking for back taxes. No documentation we have received in response to our requests ever matches what the service reps tell us and every phone call involves talking with at least half a dozen different people in several different departments, each of whom might say something different. While we have been disputing their action on the escrow account, we continued to make our basic monthly mortgage payment. Nonetheless, they reported us as late pays and our credit scores have plummeted.
Researching Carrington, we found 36 lawsuits pending against them in the last two years in California alone. The picture emerging is that Carrington is suspected of driving people into foreclosure so they can flip the property. This possibility is frightening for us, since they have already profited $150,000 on our interest only loan and may be reaching a point of diminishing returns. With our house currently assessed at about half of what we owe on it, we can see how it might be more profitable for them to ruin our credit and drive us out than to work with us. We are so angry. Is this the reward Carrington and America now offer for people who continue to work hard and pay their bills?

I called and spoke to Alicia, who we were working with, and she reassured me it was only showing shortage because we were behind and that once we paid the $12,000.00, it would bring our payment current and there would be no shortage. I told her "I would not reinstate my mortgage, if my payment were to be $1,788.00." She understood and told me it will be $1488.00. If you are looking into buying a house, do your homework. First, find out if Carrington Mortgage is affiliated with the house at all. And, if they are, stay away! I have had two dealings with this company and cannot believe the horrible service and the scamming that they do. I have tried purchasing two homes. I am a single mom with three kids. I have a good income and have been approved for a loan. Much to my despair, Carrington Mortgage was the holder of the properties.
For the first house, they held me up for two months. Then, when they came back with an offer, I said yes. They proceeded to tell me "Oh, we have 5 other offers." and that if I would like to bid higher, then I would have a shot. Not right! Now, I put in an offer for a house at the listing price with the seller to pay part of the closing. They came back and said they would give $3900.00 towards closing. I said OK to that! Ok, so you would think that if I agreed to their counter offer, that I would be good. No! This is Carrington Mortgage. They came back and said they now want $140,000 for the house.
The house needs work and appliance, and the location is so-so. And they are trying to compare it to homes in the area that were recently sold. But those homes have new kitchens, siding, etc.
Do your self a favor. Carrington is the most deceitful company out there. Do not get involved. They only have one thing they are worried about--screwing the consumer. The answer that Vincent ** gave to my realtor was "We have comps and pics of inside; our value stands. If your buyer wants to dispute the value, they can submit an appraisal."
Just a note, when the house was first listed, it was $99,000. Someone else went through this in October, and the price went up from the $99,000 to $130,000. Ican't understand why they would not have listed at the appraised value then and not mislead people! This company and their practices should be investigated.

I have a Home Modification Loan (**) with Carrington MS and have always had an escrow account since 1995. In 11/2010, I received a Tax Bill for Personal Property Taxes amounting to $1121.00 for the house. I called MO Revenue (County) to see why the bill was sent to me instead of my mortgage company and was informed that my mortgage holder Carrington MS did not request a copy. So in turn I called Carrington to inquire why I got the bill and not them. The Taxation Dept. at Carrington had a recording stating that if you have received your Tax Bill, there is no reason to speak to anyone; that they would take care of it; and that if you wanted to send them a copy, you could. I then hung up and called back to get a live person and was informed that if I got that recording, there's no need to worry about it.
On 1/5/11, I called Carrington again after I learned they had not been paid from the county assessor website, and I spoke with several people (LOGAN, JEANIE, AND DANIEL) regarding the Taxes not being paid, being shuffled from one person to another. One stated that my Taxes should have been paid and that Carrington paid my insurance only. He said I should speak to a Supervisor. I told him that I requested to speak to one at 16:30, and Jeanie in customer service told me that a supervisor couldn't help me and refused to transfer me to one. So Daniel said he would transfer me to one. Well after holding, Jeanie picked up again. I told her, "I have no business with you. I was holding for a supervisor." She asked what it is that I didn't understand earlier and stated that they cancelled paying my taxes in 2/2010.
I never received that MEMO, and I told her my Loan Modification Agreement dated 4/8/2010 states clearly that through the escrow payment of $103.00 (instead of $59.00) and monthly payment of $430.72 (which is now 474.96), it includes the principal, interest, taxes, and insurance. My escrow has only 103.00 in it, and I haven't missed any payments. Where is the rest of my money that should be in my escrow account, for there to be a balance of 103.00?
On 1/6/2011, I finally spoke to a supervisor named Scott ** who stated that they are not paying my PP Taxes, and I told him that according to my Home Modification Agreement, they are to. He asked me to fax to him a copy of that agreement at **.

On December 9th, 2010, I recently found out our original loan holder is Carrington Mortgage Investor. If you do any investigating, you will see they are all over keeping people in debt, more profitable to extent. They come and take their home along with EMC both in together. There never was a decision on helping out with modification, just passing paperwork for 2 years.
I did not know. I was misguided, if only. In September 2009, TV and radio exploded with hype on President Obama demanding the banks to give amnesty to mortgage borrower and have some mercy. Well, there was an urgency to have this done right away to qualify you. I did follow being proactive, for down the road I knew what was to come. However, never have I expected to be taken for a fool which I was. My mortgage company is EMC Mortgage Corporation, Dallas, TX.
My loan stands today for payback of two hundred and nine thousand, which I can't even get in this market. And it's a bungalow. My monthly payment was $1603.17 which was cutting very short. But I was used to two procedures of pay, Paul to pay Mary. I was doing it. Well then I heard of generous offer which was a modification package. I called right away and screened over the phone for new payment, $1021 monthly, and just sent all signed document and proof verifications.
I faxed and confirmed. I followed with hard copies and continued with follow-up calls to see status. I was consistently told that it was in with review board. I was still somewhat nervous after sending each payment. I received statements detailing amount due summary and what I owed. I was getting greater and greater in debt, but I never received a late fee or critical phone calls with problem that could arise. Numerous status phone calls were made by me. I finally received notice in April. I was not qualified because they never received paperwork. Well, with desperate phone call they said, “Sorry, we will reopen your case.” I then re-faxed, as well as hardcopy, all new paperwork over again, continuing with status phone calls.
In June I was told, when making a status inquiry on phone, again that I was not qualified this time, stating the original loan company was not offering any plans from Obama. Crying hysterically, I tried to get the number of lender. They said they could not give it out. EMC again told me we have an in house plan I may qualify for, so again new paperwork was issued, signed, and faxed, plus hard copy.
There were status calls over and over. In July, they said again we are sending to new adjuster to review and they need new paperwork. I explained 1 month ago that I sent updated paperwork (valid for 90 days), so they checked. While on phone, everything was confirmed. They said all was well. Now at this point, I pleaded. Do you realize you are putting me in great debt with all this time involved and mix-ups? EMC representative actually sounded concerned. Somehow he came up with idea if you repay half of what you owe and make original payments, you are more likely to be approved. It was so brilliant I thought. So, I begged a friend to loan me $7700. And I made on time payment of $1603.17 only to see I was misguided again.
On September 3rd, I was not qualified, finding out only being abreast of everything with weekly phone calls. I noticed my payment (check by phone) was not taken on Nov. 1st. I called with confirmation number on Nov. 10th. EMC billing said that it seemed funds weren't there. Agitated, I called TD Bank which explained no check was presented. I recalled EMC said not sure why. Maybe the account information was incorrect. He verified in computer which was accurate. Then he said, “However, we can’t take that amount again.” It has to be paid in full at this time, because I am in foreclosure.
So, I asked to speak to a member of lost litigation. He said no problem and transferred me where the representative apologized and took payment right away. Briefly I explained again without getting wordy and now started modification process all over again with new paperwork faxed on Nov. 10th. I followed it up with hard copies ASAP (need original statement, only generated copy faxed, sometime not valid and certify everything).
On November 13th, I received a statement. There were 2 late payments added on which represent September and November, not that I was late either month but because I am late on 7older payments because of previous mishaps. I will never be able to catch up on payments. I just cannot get that kind of money up again. This makes me believe how many others did this happen to, especially when you’re here in one zip code in Florida. There were 748 foreclosures this year or month, not time but accurate on amount of homes in one zip code. I must say this inspired me to write a well overdue letter to public as to not let this catastrophe happen to another. Somehow we must band together for fair justice.
My mom passed and left me money to do the right by my girls she adored and buy them a home. So, oh yes I feel I am failing my mom, myself, and my girls. She is dying all over again. Thank you in advance for any help, guidance, even acknowledgment that you read or understand my dismay or disheartenment. All letters of verification will all be sent if need be.

In the late spring or early summer of this year (2010), I was advised that I might be eligible for the Making Home Affordable Program. I have always dealt with the same guy from CMS, his name is Mario. He explained the program, how it works, and sent me the paperwork to apply. I got the paperwork filled it out and sent it in. In July or August, I was finally told by Mario that I met all the qualifications and that I would have a new payment of $1,269 and this included taxes and insurance. Prior to this, I did not have an escrow account and had to pay my taxes and insurance on my own. So I was super stoked that my payment was being lowered and now included tax and insurance.
Well, as we know there are the 3-trial payments that you have to make. So I was set, but I asked Mario how to handle my insurance... do I keep paying the premium during the trial period or would Carrington, he said Carrington and advised me to have Germania send them a letter with the balance and where to send payment which Germania promptly did.
Well, CMS never paid it and the policy cancelled and I received notice of the cancellation. I immediately contacted Mario and once again he said do not worry that CMS would place insurance on my home and all would be good. I explained that I was in the insurance business and was nervous that the CMS placed insurance would not be comparable to my Germania coverages, he assured me that it would so I took his word and we went through the 3-month trial and I made every payment on time or early.
Well, we are now in December and I was just told by Mario to make another trial payment while CMS finalizes everything. Of course, I am getting nervous after reading the horror stories online about mortgage servicers having people continue to make trial payments after the initial 3 only to end up several months later getting **. Mario tells me don't worry all is good. Well, yesterday (12/01) he says the modification would have gone through but they need a current declarations page for homeowners insurance, it took all I had to not go off on him. Please note since I made the 3rd trial payment for November, I have been recording all conversations with CMS to cover my **.
I explain to him that we talked about the insurance on two different occasions. The first about if I should pay and he said no CMS will pay and then the second conversation about the insurance cancelling and him saying don't worry CMS will place insurance on it. Keep in mind, I am recording our conversation and he says "yes I remember both of those conversations and I might have ** up. " Ummm you think? He says he is going to check into this and that and try to get all resolved and to not worry that my modification and insurance stuff will be cleared up and all is going to be OK. In the meantime he asks me to see what it would cost if I was to take out a new homeowners policy.
I'm like OK, so I called my agent to get a quote....Ohhh I can't get normal insurance because of the lapse and I have to go through a state risk pool (insurance for losers and scumbags basically)and its going to be $1754, $700 more than my Germania policy I had. Oh and I can't make payments since its through the TX Fair Plan, I have to either pay in full or pay in 2 or 4 payments.
So I have called Mario and he says once again he is going to get things taken care of and will call me back in 30-minutes. Here 4-hours later, I still am waiting all while my home as been uninsured since August. I believe I have a pretty good case with having recorded phone calls where Mario (CMS employee) tells me he screwed up and also reassuring me everything will be OK, when in reality if my house burns down today, I have no insurance! I would love for an attorney to contact me and help me resolve this issue with CMS.

February 19, 2009, I signed an agreement to complete a "Special Forbearance Program arranged by Cindy F of Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC Forbearance Department. Thereafter, I received a packet from Dennis F, who worked in the Loss Mitigation Department/Home Retention. Mr. F informed me after receiving the packet and phoning him that I qualified for the HAMP, since I had completed the Forbearance scheduled for the 90 days. But for whatever reason my packet(s) with all the required paperwork fell through the cracks time and time again, that on October 12, 2009 Carrington sold the property without giving me any form of Notification, which they claimed were sent. How I found out that the property had been sold, I called in to the Homeowners Association to make my payment, and was placed on hold; when the Manager comes on the phone informing me that the property was no longer mind and they couldn't take my payment.
I then contacted the various agencies: Congressman ***, Attorney General, Department of Corporation and also Real Estate, and the Federal Trades Commission, and a Homeowner Counselor who handled the negotiations for the Forbearance. I called the Homeowner Counselor while waiting to hear back from the other government officials about the notice to vacate the premises. And she's been searching the web for a person in authority and she found the Senior VP of Carrington Home Retention Department, a Mr. G. The homeowner counselor explained the whole situation; how Mr. L who had assigned a gentleman by the name of Scott to follow-up on everything and them assuring us that they would get to the bottom of everything and get it resolved; only to get a notice taped to the door from the Sheriff's Office and what if anything could he do about.
When she was finished, he informed her that he was somewhat familiar with what had transpired, and that he would look into things farther and get back to her. Eventually he got back with certain demands and certain things he asked for again. He asked for proof of income, including a copy of my husband's income (note that my husband and I are separated). She got these items and faxed them to him as requested. This was on the 5th of February 2010. Mr. G phones her back informing her how he had gone over the income; increasing the payments to social security so to arrive at the $4,000.00 he came up with as monthly income, and basing everything on this income the payments would be at a set amount of $1446.63 if I remember correctly.
I explained to her that I needed the HAMP to be able to afford my mortgage, and that she was aware that John didn't live with me. How would I come up with this kind of payment? She thought up some off the wall plan to come up with the money, but I didn't see the legitimacy of the plan she came up with. So I asked a niece of mine to move in, but still it's a great strain on my budget, where I can bearly afford food every month. Since this time I've asked Carrington to produce the note in an effort to know who the holder of my note is and to see if the one holding the note would agreed to offering me the HAMP. But for the last 2 years they have not done so, and when asked why was I decline the HAMP (they always give me this doubletalk); because they were given permission to decide the course to take with me, or that I just didn't or the Note Holder decided against it. Then I've asked for the contact number of the Note Holder and they refused to produce that as well.
Just recently they sent me a Notice stating that they are insuring my home, when in fact I've always held an insurance policy that I pay every month. Interestingly enough I saw where they were covering the arrearages in the amount that they are holding in what the named a "Bucket Account" of $175,000, when they show what I'm paying on is $232,000 (estimating), and this is the amount I have covered. So is the $175,000, the amount they are standing to gain when the 5 year plan is up. Carrington is known for being underhanded and crooked when it comes down to how they handle business. Always trying to set you up for failure. Back to the income. I'm on a fixed income of social security, and disability payments totaling $1785.00 a month, with the extra money I receive of $500 paid by my niece for a room I rent to her.
So what is it that I'm asking to be done? I want to be offered the HAMP. I fit the criteria of the program in all five categories. I'm disabled on a fixed income. I lost income. My husband abandoned me. I'm sick. I have a genuine hardship, in that I can't afford the expenses of the homeowner associations fees, taxes, insurance and the monthly payments I have been pressured to make each month, and have to pay all the other required obligations that included utilities, water, sewage, garbage, food, etc. There's nothing extra in case of an emergency; no surplus of any kind. This company was corrected by the Department of Corporation for trying to set me up again for another Foreclosure.
Because they took the money I paid them; starting with the Good Faith Money of $2,083.56 they received on the 8th of February, my April payment sent toward the end of March that they put into another account named unapplied funds, and took the May payment applied it to Aprils payment, when April payment was only $297.00 and that I paid, and that got placed into the unapplied funds, showing I was 2 months behind in my payments; charging me for fees when I was told all the fees and lates had been forgiven, etc.
Then I received a Judgment in the same month. I signed the fourth agreement on the 9th of March, 2010, and on the 29th Carrington sues me for $2,830 in an effort to evict me. The title was never transferred to me and the modification according to Debra R hadn't gone into effect until May 2010. I have every email I've received from Debra R confirming that they made the mistake. But believe me when I say this, Carrington know what they are doing when they are doing it. They are an extremely unscrupulous company. NACA won't placed an article with the Consumer Affairs expressing how they feel about this company defining the character of this company. Along with this article are other complaint and notes of expressions in regards to what the other customers/ homeowners think about Carrington and how they've been treated by this company who's CEO says that they treat their customers fair, and they know that this is a lie.
I've paid a law firm upfront money to act in my believe whom I contacted in regards to the judgment sent and filed by Carrington, and to review the 4 agreements I signed. Only to find out they aren't any better. They took one payment of 4 scheduled payment, to discover what I had been telling them all along, that Carrington (who they described as being one of the many companies they have a good repair with) that there was no options for a modification, and that I had received a Notice of Intent To Foreclose, that Beverly Hills Law Associates should have been aware of had they been communicating with Carrington as they claimed to have done. So presently I'm fighting to get my money back from them.
I just want to be treated fairly and without any form of discrimination. The Senior VP G committed fraud in that he acknowledged and admittedly stated that he used some code to increase the income/earning. Tampering with anyone's paperwork is illegal and what this man did was illegal. I haven't heard from any of the other authorities/government officials whom I've complained about this company Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC.

I received what appears to be a judgment filed by a Mr. John **, Attorney at Law, **, ** for payments, I understood would be forgiven per a very recent modification. I didn't know there was any such judgment, until I received it on April 1, 2010 for the amount of $2,830.00. He filed for Wells Fargo N.A., as Trustee for Carrington Mortgage Loan Trust.
It shows, there's an entry of default, when I've never been notified that I was being sued, and now, it appears that there's been a judgment enter in by the plaintiffs. I signed the agreement for a modification four times. The forth time, with there being a Notary, Linda ** who came to my home a second time. I have all documentation to show that I complied with all the requirements, as stated in any and all agreements. Stress, anxiety, and a great deal of sleepless nights.
