I am at a complete loss of words for the quality of customer service that Match.com offers. I had only used their services for one week and noticed that my account was on auto renewal for the past six months. I have been charged twice in the amount of $65 since I had last used it and when I called to report this innocent mistake, I was told no refund is possible, there is no manager to speak to and the system won’t allow for any other changes. This is an absolute outrage. After trying to understand and get information from the rep, she says that she is not able to help me further and then hangs up on me. I have never had an experience like this before in my life. Even Amazon refunds when someone is unaware of an auto renewal and doesn't hang up on you. Apparently, their policy is to not help you and then steal money from you. This is not OK. I do not recommend this service to ANYONE if you care about your hard earned money.

I had stopped using this site months before the "auto renew" date, and had at the onset of my initial subscription turned the auto-renew option OFF. They DO NOT send out any kind of warning/ reminder/ nudge that your subscription is almost about to be renewed. I didnt think it mattered since mine was supposedly turned OFF. But, oh boy, still got charged $130+ anyways. I got online and cancelled the entire account THE SAME DAY they tried to charge me (and I ONLY knew about it because my Credit Card co sent me a possible fraud alert, or I would not have known otherwise!).

THEY STILL CHARGED ME! Then I had to call customer service, and they still refused to refund me - EVEN THOUGH I CANCELLED IMMEDIATELY and was no longer using their services! AND I was not supposed to be auto-renewed to begin with!! After much hassle, the lady said she could refund HALF of my amount! SO I was still charged over $70 for absolutely nothing. Terrible website! TERRIBLE customer service! Outraged at their "policies".

I have asked for a refund but never receive one. I am forwarding a copy of this email to the Better Business Bureau. Dating sites are all a bit sketchy, but I had thought Match different. Forgivable is their focus on physical traits that reinforce that only good-looking people get dates, but that is the world in which we live. Pardonable is their so-so performance on keeping scammers off the site - hard to catch such beasts. BE VERY WARY of anything involving money with them! They make it difficult to cancel subscription and they never reimburse you. They will lie to you about the opposite sex being interested in you to get you to sign up and then say, "Sorry, we do not give you your money back ever". Do not believe what they say and be very careful of ever giving them money - you can consider it gone. They would not reimburse me - even though I asked in a very polite/friendly manner for them to be reasonable.

All they are going to do is prey on people with low self esteem, the site is designed to basically not work. Don't do it, you will still be alone but at least you will still have your money.

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about my experience with Match.com. I was catfished but thankfully realized it rather quickly, had another experience where I ended up needing an Order of Protection filed against a guy who was harassing me, and then automatically charged after I hid my account because I didn’t realize I was on auto renewal. The company does not even offer partial refunds. There is no way to know who is actually really available on this site so you will waste your time looking through countless accounts that either will never receive your message or they are not even checking their profiles anymore. Although I chose this because I wasn’t interested in any hookups, it appears that that is what is the norm for most guys these days. I will never use this site again and am telling everyone to stay far away from Match and look elsewhere. It’s a scam. They just want your money.

And I am writing reviews on any place I possibly can about this company. I fully intend to exploit it as much as possible. I hope the $50 was worth it!

I do not usually write reviews. This one is necessary. Match is a scam on several levels. There are an enormous number of fake profiles on the site that randomly "Like" and "Favourite" you before you pay. This gives you the incentive to pay and check out who liked your profile. When you do pay, the people who like you are all crap and fake. I verified this two different times with two different accounts over two years. They will claim that they cannot control these fake accounts and while that may be true to some extent, they are nowhere near the problem on any other dating app or site (Coffee Meets Bagel/Bumble/POF) for example.

Secondly and MOST importantly. When you join Match, you are enrolled in AUTO-PAY. This is the default setting and at the end of your term, they will re-bill you for the next term at least the same rate. The two times I did this, I CANCELLED autopay the DAY AFTER paying for my membership. That means that they cannot charge you again. The first time this happened, at the end of the 6 months, guess what? They billed me again. I called them and told them this has to be refunded, to which they replied that they can offer a partial refund for 1 month of service. I said I wanted a full refund but had to give up on this request after multiple rejections. So I believed that I somehow must have forgotten to cancel my membership.

Fast forward to this year. I bought a 6 month membership. THIS TIME... I took a screenshot of the Autopay cancellation screen. I also saved the email confirmation that stated that I had successfully cancelled the Autopay. Fast forward to last week. They billed me for another 6 months. I called them (and it took a while to find their number). I asked the guy to refund me. He said no. He could give me a partial refund for one month because there was no evidence I had cancelled. I told him that this sounded extremely familiar but this time I had a screenshot of the cancellation page. He asked for a confirmation number for cancellation. I read him the entire email from 6 months earlier where Match confirmed I cancelled. No confirmation number. Then I looked the email he JUST send me to give me a partial refund and... YOU GUESSED IT... ALSO had no confirmation.

HE KNEW I could not have had a confirmation number because THEY DO NOT GIVE ONE BY EMAIL. I told him to send me to a supervisor. He responded he could not there was no supervisor there. He also said he could not give a full refund because there was no way to do that. I told him this was fraud twice and that he was getting me angry. I told him to refund the cost or I would take legal action even if the action cost me 10 times more than the Match payment. He put me on hold. Not sure why since there was supposed to be no supervisor. And when he returned everything was refunded. These people are perpetual liars and cheats. His name was Jose by the way in case you get him. Press him for your refund. I hope this helps someone.

I joined Match and have tried to find women to be friends with or a relationship. I have had over 145 views and I have messaged them all. I had one respond to one thing that was auto generated then their profile was gone then the picture changed. I had another message me back. Talked for about 2 weeks. Texting our cell phones then she asked for a prepaid credit card stating she could not buy one where she lives but where she said she lived and where her phone # was located where 2 totally different places and she would not answer any questions. I asked or would not give out any detail where she lived but wanted to meet.

When she went to visit her mom she kept asking about the credit card. I took a picture of one to show I could get one. She wanted one for 200 which seems to be the number everyone asks for. So I could not get a $200 card so I got $100 card. I asked for a video chat before I took pictures of the card to give her and she got very mad trying to guilt me into sending it without checking on her. She then said to keep it and put it behind us then 2 days later she started asking for it again so I did. I had spent it and that was the end of us talking. But I have had one other message me back well within the area for a hookup to be told I was not close enough to her. So my experiences with dating companies is not very good. Save your money. You will find someone on your own.

I had been a Match.com user for the past 4 years. While a paid subscriber, my profile generated pretty much no interest. Soon after my subscription would expire, I start receiving emails from Match saying "this person is interested in you", "you had ** number of views", "this person liked you", "this person rated you a "YES" in their daily matches" etc. But they would never show you who may be interested unless you renew your subscription. Ultimately really piquing my curiosity, so I end up renewing. Only to find the person was either fake, they weren't really interested, or I would message them, and would never hear back. It seems Match.com is ONLY set up so that the only way people can possible converse or meet is if BOTH people are paid subscribers. I messaged several who were reported by Match.com to be interested, but never heard a word from any of them.

During this last time, same thing, I received NOTHING while I was a paid subscriber. But within a week of my subscription running out, suddenly people are supposedly interested in me AGAIN! Not this time Match! You've taken my money enough times to know your site is a scam, and you should have a class action lawsuit filed against you for deceptive practices!!! I had been a paid subscriber at least 4 or 5 times, maybe more, and each time the result was basically the same.

I have never met one person via Match.com, never chatted with anyone via Match.com. But they claim their success rate is so successful! I call BS on that! The only thing Match.com has been successful at is taking more of my money.

I've been a member, on and off, since 2003. Constantly making changes to the site format, few if any that improve its usability. The opposite, if anything. Constantly implementing hoaky, hair-brained gimmicks and "features" to soak more money out of you. Popular with the naive and gullible, not with experienced users who know better. Any effort or system that used to be in place to screen for scammers went out the window years ago. STILL implement the absurd "Wink" and "Like" program. Right when adults in our society are more immature and juvenile than ever, they give a 30-, 40- or 50-year-old person the option of contacting another grown adult by "hiding" behind a button that you click. Now they even have a "Yes" rating. It's like we're 12-years-old playing a video game in an arcade. How lazy and insulting can you get? "Wow, you like me enough to click a button." It's no wonder why the dating and relationship world is in the state that it is.

Now, they have pre-scripted profiles that you can choose from, if you're too lazy or "un-unique" to write a good one yourself. Problem is, everyone uses them now and it's absurdly obvious. So it's basically a slide show of who's attractive and who's not. And everyone still wants to be treated like they're unique and special. Just another thing to encourage laziness. Crazy. In conflicts, women always get the upper hand and the men get their profiles deleted because it's women's photos that draw men to the site. Kind of like at a bar. No cover charge for hot women and/or free drinks. If you choose or have to make a new profile, you can't use an e-mail address or credit card that you've already used. You actually have to go out and get a new e-mail account AND credit card JUST TO SIGN UP ON MATCH.COM. Downward spiral.

In cancelling prior subscriptions over the past few years, I commented as some of my reasons for cancelling were: 1) I very frequently did not meet the criteria of women whose profiles were offered to me as potential matches, especially in desired age range, and 2) that the women offered as potential matches frequently did not meet my criteria, especially as to important ones like age and distance. This results in a great deal of time lost checking profiles that weren't appropriate. They were cheap filler to make it look as if Match was doing something for their money.

Near the end of my last subscription period, I thought I had gone through the steps to cancel the automatic billing, because I had exhausted the field of potential matches. A few days after my subscription should have ended, I received a message from a woman that shouldn't have come through if that were the case. As it was a Friday evening, Match's offices were closed so I could not check with their customer service (finding that number is very difficult, by the way). So I sent a message to another woman to see if it would go through, and it apparently did. The first thing Monday morning, the eighth day after my paid subscription should have ended, I called customer service to ask for a refund of my unused subscription.

My request was refused because, according to the representative, refunds are blocked by one email made in the subscription period for which a refund is requested. He could not explain why this should be the case, even though I explained that I only sent the email to confirm that my subscription was still active. I did not ask for a full refund, only for the remainder of 83 days of the subscription period. Their refusal is a straight-up ripoff. There is no logical reason for denying a refund. I am 72 years old, living on a fixed income, and cannot afford a service which has resulted in only one short-term relationship in over two years.

Match.com knowingly engages in dishonest business practices and extorts their customers: 1. When you sign up for a subscription you’re given several different options to include a one-month membership, a 3-month, a 6-month etc, and with each longer term is a price reduction incentive. I chose the three month option but be sure to read the pages and pages of fine print because after my 3-month subscription expired they auto-renewed me for $79.00. They did not send an email or any sort of warning that my subscription was about to end and auto renewal would take place (why would they??? I’d then have the opportunity to cancel). The day my subscription expired they charged me the $79.00 and that very day I called to cancel my membership and request a refund but the customer service rep refused a refund, refused to let me speak to a supervisor and hung up on me.

    2. When a subscriber allows their subscription to lapse Match does not delete or hide their profiles nor does it even inform other users of that subscriber's last log on date or how long since that subscriber has been active. And even worse... It mixes those inactive profiles in with the active right at the top of your search results. This results in a ridiculously high number of profiles that are inactive. Some of those subscribers with the inactive profiles are able to read the messages sent to them (because they are also delivered to your personal email and if you open the email address it marks the message as read) but they are unable to respond to messages because they’re not paying members.

This business practice is an intentional attempt to mislead current and prospective clients. It gives the appearance of a wide selection of active members and a great “man or woman selection” when in reality no one is using Match because there are other, better, FREE sites with more transparent business practices and better customer service.

I generally like to let the man do the chasing in dating situations but when I became frustrated that NOTHING good was seeking me out on this site I took the alpha approach and messages like 30 dudes. Out of all 30 I received 1 response. Not to sound arrogant but just to put it in perspective, I have used dating sites before and I have zero problem getting a response. The problem I have on most sites is I get too many messages from too many attractive men and it becomes overwhelming and I can’t keep up with messaging, keep the names straight or be decisive. I assure you that you will not have this problem on Match because the vast majority of decent profiles are inactive. It’s a huge farce. They are masters of deception and extortion.

They are clearly discriminating against me based on my race, wealth or something that some keyboard jockey over there doesn't agree with. I put nothing illegal and hardly put a few lines about myself in the self summary. I emailed them resolutions@support.match.com, called them even and they refuse to answer. They give no explanation whatsoever. They must be just point blank discriminating against me. This company is doing something very shady and clandestine. Do they think they can run some kind of reverse eugenics program or something? This needs to be covered in a major news story.

I called to tell Match how I was concerned for my security and that I didn’t even know which man I was communicating with. Match outsources customer service to the Philippines and the reps are very robotic and hard to understand. It took three lengthy calls where the reps refused to refund and hung up on me. I Was shocked that by the third call, I was supposedly refunded. I have to wait 5 days to be sure. Home office is Texas. Naturally, They don’t have a phone number. I personally now know of 3 people who have been scammed through Match.com. The first person was for over $10,000, second for over $5,000, and third for over $4,000. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER SITES THAN THIS. Use OurTime.com, OKCupid.com, or CompatiblePartners.com. MATCH.COM is absolutely the worst, and there appear to be more scammers on this site than actual people. Further, they seem to run the same profiles over and over again even though the people do not appear to be active on the site any longer.

You think a huge company like Match.com would have the same standard of service as say, Yelp, Nordstrom, Amazon etc. or at least I did. But make no mistake, this is a site that wants as MANY CREDIT CARDS as possible and will by any means necessary attempt to keep charging your card. Cancelled membership 45 days before 3 month subscription ended. (By the way, they don't allow you to even be on Match with a temporary membership/without participating in auto-renew, it's up to you to go in and cancel it before they take money out again.) So I cancelled in plenty of time and wrote down the cancellation number.

This was no use, once October came I was charged $78 for an additional 3 months, although I was no longer using the site and had not logged in in over a month by that point. What I thought would be a quick and friendly resolution when I called, turns out to be a stone wall when you call their customer service. THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS. Your unique circumstances, or even their own tech errors are irrelevant to them. I provided the cancellation # they said "It says here you cancelled then signed up again." What??

I talked to several people, to no avail. Of course this is not a huge amount of money... However I was blown away at the strong arm sales that they use here and was completely not expecting it from such a major company. We use these sites in relative trust that they will uphold the same standards of customer service and honesty as other major American brands.

I have been on Match on and off for about 3 years. I never met a person of quality on that site and even had several incidents of stalking, harassment and inappropriate contact from members. All of which were difficult to report or get Match to address. Their blocking only worked to an extent and even after implementing it stalkers, harassers and the like were still able to contact me. Everyone I met on that site was interested in short term satisfaction over a long-term relationship, which was contrary to what they stated and outlined in their profiles.

In addition, Match's customer service is abysmal, they profess to have a 6 month guarantee, but are selective about providing it and even then only after calling and complaining about it. The last straw was that I had called their customer service to cancel my account on the last day and just made it before closing and was hung up on by a rep, so was not able to cancel. I wasn't able to find a way to cancel on my phone that day, so the next day I logged in on my laptop to cancel, but again was not able to find where to do this so called them. They stated because I logged in after the last day that they couldn't refund my money. Spoke to two levels of supervisors who told me they couldn't help me, so I paid for more time with the suckiest dating site on the planet due to their own rep hanging up on me and because they don't have a user friendly way to cancel online (which is shady as hell) so they can pull this kind of crap.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS SHAM OF A "DATING" SITE!!! THEY SUCK ON EVERY POSSIBLE LEVEL!!! I then tried to fight it through my bank because I was not communicating with members and was trying to cancel my account and they sent my bank a doc showing I logged in. How Match.com scams people. Match NEVER identifies if prospective mates are paid members. Only paid members can respond to a message you send. Match does not tell you when a prospect last visited their website. Match doesn't reveal WHO has sent you message(s) unless you are a paid member. If you pay, you may discover the message(s) came from a fake or deleted member. As a paid member, I received average of 2 or 3 fake messages a day, meaning the profiles were deleted by management before I could even respond or were obvious "catfish" attempts. Daily email with 24 pics of prospects are basically same photos rearranged. They also mix in some that are NOT someone that meets your criteria. Despite their TV advertising, now you know why you're better off trying almost ANY other dating site.

Then when you cancel the auto renewal on the date of renewal they will still take your money and tell you they can give you a one-time partial refund. Making it so that you have to keep it another 3 months. I had to call them and they don't make that easy. There are no numbers listed on the website. I had to Google search that.

I had so much trouble with the app shutting me out of my phone I had to do a complete restart of my phone 2x. Needless to say I never tried it again. You tell them you were unhappy with their services and that you wish to cancel and not renew on the day of renewal but no they already started the transaction of taking you for a fool at 12am when you were asleep and then don't have customer service on the weekend so you're screwed. I also agree with the other reviews about half the people on the site are scams. Had that experience once already with them too.

Match.com was a terrible experience for me. It appeared to have many single men in my area and so I paid the $100 fee because of the money-back guarantee. However, the way they found matches for me was seemingly random. I often saw men way outside of the parameters I had set and many men within the parameters appeared to not actively be checking their accounts. While I had hoped to find more people that would be open to long term relationships, many profiles were just as wishy washy as the free sites. My profile got significantly fewer views than my presences on POF, OKC, and I assume Tinder based on the number of matches I received there.

I have a theory about why this occurred: Match tailors your matches by your preference in body type. Almost all of the men I was interested in, even when I expanded my search outside of my parameters, had "thin" or "athletic" as their only desired body types and therefore I would never be recommended to them, no matter how much we had in common and no matter what their body type was. I am a curvy lady and while I'm not a couch potato I can't honestly say I have an "athletic" physique. I feel like that is the number one reason why my profile got such a tiny amount of views and even fewer messages. Still, I kept using the site, because it only takes one, right? Plus you had to use it a certain amount to qualify for the refund.

Then something odd happened. Match recommended a woman to me. I contacted customer service about this. Then the site recommended another woman in their match email. I have nothing against bisexuals, but I'm not one, and I didn't pay $100 to have a gender I don't prefer sent to my inbox. After the matches got further outside of my parameters until I was asking "Why did I even set these?," a very awkward first date (my only one), and several more women being sent to me, I asked them again to correct it. Instead, when I filed a complaint there was a misunderstanding (they claimed) and they deactivated my account. Their deactivation violated the terms of the money back guarantee which meant I had followed the rules and put in all the time doing what I was supposed to be doing for nothing. I tried to fight for this to be reversed in a rational and reasonable way.

Every time I would raise a serious complaint with customer service they would kick me off of the live chat. I would log in again and raise my concern again only to have the cycle repeat itself. Tired of the headaches, I finally cancelled my account, made them confirm they would never charge me another penny, and submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because they violated their own policies. Long after I cancelled my account, Match sent an email saying it refunded my money to my credit card but I looked at my statements and can't find any evidence that they did. It's been such an ordeal I don't feel like fighting for it, quite frankly. What a way to make a buck, Match. I'll just be over here slow clapping for you.

Match.com is absolute crap. Glitches that never get fixed. Filters that don’t work. Rude customer care service. My account was hacked and then terminated for violating “terms and violations.” I hadn’t been in the actual site in days. So when I reached out to Match’s customer care to see what was going on, the only response I got was a link to their terms and violations page, and a rude, “This is the final email on the subject.” Then, when I realized that it was useless, and that Match was just crappy, I didn’t care about my profile anymore, I requested my money back. I paid $67 for 6 months of service, and was terminated after only three.

It took three days of calling and emailing for anyone to get back to me.

Eventually I got a single email stating that I wouldn’t be getting my money back, and if I wanted to know why I was terminated, I’d gave to get a subpoena or a warrant. I was also told that as soon as you’re terminated they completely block and delete your profile permanently. So now I’m out money, because my account was hacked. And instead of looking into it, or working with me, all I got was rude service. Let’s also talk about how there was no option for me to put my political views on my profile. Everyone else who was a liberal could. But there wasn’t that option for me, a conservative. That pissed me off too. That site just seemed to be full of pervy people, who want your credit card numbers. I don’t recommend Match.com to anyone. For some reason you do still chose them, make sure it’s a month to month subscription so they can’t jack you for your money.

BUT recently I received email from this site informing me (very cheerfully), that my profiled (that was canceled) was visited 5 times in the last month. How could it possible happen in real world? Probably no chance. But there was a chance on Match.com, which collects ALL profiles that were created for years and years and presented them to current customers showing (pretending), that they have millions of members. (Majority - non-existent). That is how their Marketing works.

I do consider such practice disrespectful and illegal, even as a FRAUD - they are selling you, guys, NON-existent profiles in order to get more and more money from you no matter what the result it would be for you. Moreover I do consider such an action as violation of my private rights, as they are kind of selling my profile, which was canceled and should not exist and they have no right on it for ANY action.

I also should add, that I did cancel my profile because I have seen mostly same profiles - profiles of people that do not exist already. And new design of profiles looks like children's book with all information we were giving to describe ourselves twisted, cut off or re-edited in manner of the person with IQ of 5th grader - primitive language, phrases, structure... Everything look key.

Do you still want to try those morons? By the way, real Morons - when I called there to find out the reason of such action I met the Agent Josephine (how she named herself), who was referring her remarks to technical issues and such, refused to call for her supervisor, spoke poor English and was rude and disrespectful. The new Verification section is optional (vs being required). Therefore there are a lot of fake accounts. In order to give assurance to viewers that my profile was genuine, I still went ahead and verified my identity with my phone (via SMS), Facebook, my Email and Twitter. I kept getting API Code errors when trying to verify Google+ & Linked In. Neither my profile of any profile I've seen shows to the viewer that I had verified my identity with my Phone, Facebook, Twitter and Email options to assure them my profile was not a fake...

PREMEDITATED TACTICS TO KEEP YOU LOCKED INTO AUTOMATIC RENEWALS. Go to "Settings" then "Subscription Status" section and you'll find:

    1) Match deliberately did NOT include the "Stop Renewal" hyperlink for the 3-month base subscription. 2) Match gives you an option to update your credit card information, but deliberately stops you from removing your credit card from your file. I tried changing a digit in the card's number and their system says invalid number so it keeps the original number forcing you to keeping a valid card on file. 3) There is NO hyperlink to contact Match.com customer service. You have to leave the "Subscription Status" section & around the site to find a Contact link that only takes you to a web-based email page. I had to google "Contact Match.com" to get to a contact page that actually displayed a phone number.

I complained in writing to match right away. The page said to wait up to 48 hours to get a response. I never heard from Match. Two days after my subscription I contacted them by phone and the lady refused to give me a refund or any kind of credit. I said that I formally wanted to open a new case with my complaint. She told me "That's fine but our policy is not to give refunds and our system does not allow us to give refunds so no supervisor will never be able to give you a refund, credit or service extension." The rep told me that a supervisor would be calling me within 24 hours and nobody called. All of the sudden, and about 6 hours later, I received and Email from Match saying that they gave me a refund to my credit card and that I no longer had a subscription.

RESULTS. Eventhough I had a completed all sections of my profile and uploaded 11 HD pictures of me from different distances and outfits, and expressed that I was looking to meet someone between 35 and 50 within 50 miles from my city. I only got mostly contacted by older women with very little content in their profile. I sent greeting messages to over 50 women and not one responded. I am glad that yesterday (Nov 1st, 2017) I got my money back and moved away from Match.

I think some of the website is truthful and functional. But I believe there is a dark side to all this to get people hooked and enticed to continue with the service. I fully believe there are fake profiles, or rather staff writers that are likely paid by Match to gin out replies and lead one down a primrose path. I just had an occurrence with a very attractive woman who replied to my email about meeting me for an event.

Everything seemed fine. Sounded like she was sincere. But then there were delays in getting back to me. No followup. Just the kind of behavior that didn't seem right for someone that was sincere. Then lo and behold she comes up with some cockamamie excuse why she has to cancel. And then with no interest in a re-schedule or followup meeting. None of it made sense for normal person behavior. My only conclusion was that this woman was a plant to keep me thinking there was a real chance I was going to meet up with someone really attractive, interesting and wonderful. So to Match.com, I say, "you're full of **" Okay. You got me for a six month membership. But I'm done with you.

So I cancelled the subscription before the renewal date, however, they didn't cancel the subscription. Although, I contacted them within 3 days of noticing that the subscription had not been cancelled as requested to make sure that I wasn't charged. Well I was charged! Not only was I charged, but they had the audacity to say that I had used the services of the subscription after the renewal date, which I hadn't.

After exchanging communication for about a month with their "customer service" telling me that I used the service after the renewal and then finally admitting that the reason why they believed I used it after the renewal date was because they use CST, but I am in PST. They still did not offer a refund. This is on top of the fact that they keep sending me "matches" that aren't matches. For example, I am not interested in persons who are "Currently Separated" or "A few extra pounds", and yet those are the "matches" that they continue to send me. As a matter of fact, every "match" they've sent I've said swiped left or said no to. I would think their system would be setup to realize that it's not working correctly and fix. I'm interested in a Class Action suit against them so that they might either fix their policies/systems or that they are no longer able to steal from customers, since they do not provide the service they say they do.

Despite contacting within 10 minutes of their line opening after being charged they refused to full refund me and cancel. I could swear I had turned off auto renewal the moment I signed up, as I was aware of their method.

Yet I still ended up being charged and can't prove that I shouldn't have been. I wonder if they reset the auto renewal or turned it back on in the 6 months that I was on their site. They don't care about customer service, they simply want as much money as possible. Instead of prorating the monthly rate I would have paid for another 6 months or refunding me entirely as requested, they charged me the highest possible rate for one month of membership that I didn't want. Tried to contact Match who make that impossible, so decided to cancel membership. When cancelling membership I was asked about 6 or 7 times if I was "sure", I think that's taking the **. Also they have the "confirm" button on the left and "cancel" on the right, in an attempt to confuse people and make it difficult to cancel, what a bunch of **!

I've been using Match since it's inception. First it was free, then it was paid for site which is ok, but now it's $42 a month which is a complete ripoff. Secondly, I think the owners of Match.com put up fake profiles to lure you in to subscribe. I get a bunch of really attractive women who will wink at me and then I'll subscribe find out they were fake profiles. The plus on this site is the profiles are pretty thorough and the people on here seem to be more serious about relationships than most other sites. I actually met someone on here who I dated for 5 years even though she had mental health issues.

I've cancelled my re-subscription but still had 2 months left, it seems because I have cancelled the renewal they have made me a minor member or not full... For example if I click into someone and then go to email them, as soon as I type in the box their name disappears, and at the top left where then may normally is it says someone? How can you remember some people's name. They are long or are nicknames or both, also you can't click in to them all the time to read their profiles?? I've tried to email them and ask but once I find the right page to email them you cant get passed their robotic test. I've tried and tried it does not work and no I didn't miss all the signs or pictures with cars or shopfronts...

When I call to speak with customer service they were very rude. I ask for a manager then I was told they were none available to help me. I was told that I was wasting their time calling in and no one can help me with my issue. I would not recommend this site to anyone, now I understand why people chooses a free site compare to paid ones.

Scammer changed my email address- not hard to do- I was able to change it back, even though I was locked out of my own account. This scammer changed my profile pics and sent solicitous emails to 14 people. The only saving grace, was that I received an email that informed me that my email address had been changed. Fortunately, I noticed this soon after it was done, and figured out how to change it back fairly quickly. Otherwise, the damage would have been worse...

This scammer now has my real email address, in addition to my cell phone number. They deleted my photos and all my correspondences. Customer service was not very helpful or concerned. They refused to refund my subscription fee, and refused to allow me to speak with a supervisor, or member of their "security team." I did get 1 extra day added to my subscription though! Wow!! DO NOT... I REPEAT... DO NOT sign up for this site. Not only for the reasons everyone else has mentioned... fake accounts, bogus "matches"... etc, but they are shady!!! My account was hacked, got an email that my password had changed... which I did not change. So obviously, now someone has access to my credit card. Now I've had to cancel that card and get a replacement. I was one month into my 6 month membership when this happened... which by the way got signed up by literally a slip of the finger. Btw... did I mention the website does NOT verify you would like to make a purchase before taking your money? So I call to cancel the remainder of my membership, because, well, they obviously are not a secure site right? I've had to cancel my credit card which causes a whole myriad of issues as some of you know.

I asked them to refund the remainder of my membership, and I get "Oh, no, we cannot do that. We cannot give you back your $50 for services you won't be using"... then proceeded to hang up on me. Good business right? I know this has happened to other people. If this has happened to you, I would really like to start a class action suit. My card was compromised and they apologize by keeping my money??? Who does business like that??? No matter how you look at it, it's shady for sure!!! Please do not in any way, shape, or form get involved with this company. They make all those really deceitful commercials using stolen money!!! Because that's what they did to me and, I've seen, plenty others!

I cancelled their service in 2016. I had no issue with the actual service, but didn't need it any longer. I did not log back in after that time. In February 2017, they started billing my credit card again ($76.72 per quarter). Since I don't use that card much, and don't get an actual statement unless I log onto their website, I didn't notice until the latest statement. I saw that charge, and called to make sure I was cancelled, and get a refund on unauthorized charges. Not even an apology. They will not reverse even one of the three fraudulent charges, and their phone reps insist there is no supervisor or manager to escalate a complaint to. That is an obvious lie, as anyone who has worked for any company with a phone room knows. I think their business practices border on criminal. Looking at other reviews, this is common practice for them.

Firstly, please note that I did not have a profile on Consumer Affairs' website until I came here to post my review of the dating site MATCH.COM. I am that unsatisfied, that I would make these efforts should speak volumes about my experience. My sole intention is to provide an informed and articulated review of a company that I feel does not present itself with any sense of transparency or show a true concern for its paying members. The key word here is 'Paying members', as anyone shelling out their hard earned money should feel that they are not only getting value in return, but, also, gain the confidence that those services that they are paying for are delivered in a way that reinforces why they are there in the first place.

Also note that I am not someone who is jaded by the 'dating' experience, so this is not me whining that I didn't meet someone on MATCH (in fact, I did, and everything is great!) So... What happened? Initially I signed up for what I thought was a only going to be a 90 day trial, which they budgeted to me for at $68.97 (I only did this so that I could reply to a person who had reached out to me, whom I have now been dating for the past 9 months). I must admit that I believe that I was 100% thorough in reading over their "Terms of Use Policy" and had looked for the fine print that would alert me if there was an auto re-enrollment program that would start if I didn't cancel after my initial 3 months were up and I didn't see it. However, they have insisted that it was clearly stated, so there should not have been any surprises.

My 90 days eventually passed and even though I had made my Match profile 'invisible' to other users before that, it was still active. Then I saw that Match had billed me for another 3 months (we are now in the month of April). This was upsetting, as I feel that there wasn't enough transparency in the presentation of their re-enrollment policy. I'm a big boy, so I sucked it up as a learning experience, didn't make a gripe and moved on... But not before making sure that I had opted out of their subscription services. This is where this gets shifty on their part.

Although I noticed that I was still getting their promotional emails (for upcoming dating events), I simply wrote it off as something that I was likely receiving because they had billed me for an additional 3 months of services from them. Life gets busy and, seriously, looking over my finances every month for minor overcharges wasn't always on my radar. That said... Another 3 months passed (now July) and they ended up billing me for another 3 months (another $68.97) that were to follow. Unfortunately, I did not readily catch this one. Then, another 3 months later (we are now in October), I saw an email from them that got me wondering if they were still billing me. I then logged onto MATCH to review my membership and it looked as if another billing cycle was coming up and that they were potentially going to be billing me.

Now, I was naive enough to think that this wouldn't actually happen, as I'd already had gone through the steps to stop services with them and I just didn't have the time to make the efforts to see what was going on... Until they billed me again for another 3 months of their services. This one I caught and I was incensed. After making sure that I had now cancelled services (this time I received an confirmation email about it), I placed a polite call to their billing department and fully expected to get a rubbing from them, but believed that things would work out in my favor because what successful company wouldn't back their 'paying members' with great customer service and issue an appropriate and proper partial refund for services that would never be utilized? Well, not MATCH.COM.

The first phone call to them, which took 25 minutes, only had a service rep offering me a "one time refund" of $18.55, which to me is was nothing short of offensive, seeing as they billed me out of $206.91 of overcharges. The 2nd call to a "Supervisor" went even worse. I kept my cool, but certainly let them know that I was unsatisfied with their offer of resolution, to which their ending response was to HANG UP ON ME. Seriously??? That is beyond rude and does not display the kind of moral attitude of a company that has any confidence in their services or value in their 'paying' customer base. The 3rd call that I put to them was no longer about a billing issue, but now about BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I at least discovered that their billing "Supervisors" actually had people above them and that I was now adamant that I would wait to talk to this person.

After several minutes the rep came back on the line to tell me that their department supervisor was busy and that it would take them some time to get to me (surprise, surprise) and, if I preferred, that they would call me back with the hour. Well... Now more than 24 hrs later and this has yet to happen, so there you go; MATCH SIMPLY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT GIVING ANYTHING THAT REMOTELY RESEMBLES CUSTOMER SERVICE. I now I have resulted in reporting what I consider FRAUD to my Bank and they will now take care of it on my behalf. Sadly, this is only part of my grievances with MATCH.COM.

I'll add this review that I was also very dissatisfied with the actual services that they provided as a company that is widely considered the top online dating site on the planet. Prior to me billing issues, I was getting inundated by inquires from FAKE PROFILES that seem to dominate their platform. Some were very obvious, but others actually came to be via their weekly bout of recommended profiles that they had 'Matched' me with. I seemed to have spent more time reporting these fake profiles than I ever spent talking to actual 'real people' or even going on dates.

As it is, dating can be super frustrating, so paying for a service which should have the best filtering system available to provide their members with a user interface that will give them added confidence is essential. This should not have been anything that I should have had a worry about, but it was a mounting one that was beyond troubling (NOTE: that women are less likely to get the overwhelm of FAKE PROFILES contacting them, so this exclusivity of scamming seems to primarily only plague men).

Throw all of these undesired experiences together and you get an online site that is less than hospitable to its members and does not provide an environment or services that shows the proper respect to building a community that can feel safe or listened to when they take issue with the services that they are paying for. Yes, I ended up meeting a great person on MATCH and given the slipshoddiness of their platform, I am very overwhelmed by surprise that it happened. As with everything in life; BUYER BEWARE!!! Thanks for reading I hope that my post helps anyone in deciding whether or not MATCH.COM is right for them. Good luck!

Exactly 1-week later on September 18th 2017, Match charged me for 2 subscriptions in addition to the subscription I purchased 1 week prior. And this person had access to my account and I'm not sure if they tried to make any charges to my credit card that is tied to the account.

I notified Match and I asked for a refund. They said that I could not get the refund since I had used the account and that they had supposedly secured my account again. I decided to keep using it for a little bit with absolutely the worst experience ever and men still contacting me thinking I was the girl that was emailing them because at this point they still had the messages from the other person but now my photo is up. Customer service stated that "They will not respond back to my customer service concern any longer" of my account being hacked. Now I found when I turn the auto sign in off that it still signs me in.

Also I made my profile not visible and it's still making my profile visible. I've deleted all my photos but they don't allow you to delete your card information. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told that they will not transfer me to a supervisor. I asked to be transferred from the Philippines to the states and they said that they would not transfer me. So both customer service on the phone and customer service via email did not help, will not refund and will not transfer you to supervisor. Which I believe is a violation of the FTC or FCC rules.

I joined that Match.com dating site last week September 2017 and was aggressively hounded to pay for a subscription because there were so many people interested in me. I also joined in Norway where I have been 8 times and may want to return to live one day. I used my email address that I use exclusively for dating sites so I have all of those likes and winks in one place!

I went to log in 3 days ago and was blocked and was given a message that my account was locked, so I wrote to find out what was going on. I was told that my case was being sent to the department that handled such issues and would be answered in 48 hours which I was not. I called customer service and they could not tell me anything. I asked to be connected to the management that was handling my case. I was told that was not possible and the only way to communicate was through email. I voiced my opinion regarding this unethical practice of not being able to speak with "my accuser" and if they wanted to validate that I am who I say I am they are welcomed to.

I then received an email response from the upper management that told me that they felt that I posed a risk to their membership and that I did not comply with their terms agreement. I looked at the terms and found nothing at all that would give anyone reason to lock me out of my account. To add insult to injury they wrote that I was being terminated from the site and also from any Match.com events!

I tried to reply with a letter asking for a specific reason as to why they were doing this to me and that this was totally unethical. I received a response that they would never respond to me! They gave me a link to write a letter to requiring my real name and a automated reason for writing to which there was no category. I read more into the terms of agreement and it was loaded with ways they can exploit members, take their money and dump them without any stated reason! I also was locked out of the site in Norway I joined. This company should not even be permitted to exist and they should be sued to the nines for these practices!

I was a member for less than one month. During this time my account was hacked four times. FOUR TIMES. Each time I had to call the Match office (inconveniently open only from 9-5) and reset not only my Match name and password, but also my EMAIL name and password. Each time my account was hacked, I lost contact with those members I had been corresponding with so essentially I had to start over with all new people 3 times (the 4th time, I just quit the site). I note that several of my correspondents also reported that THEIR accounts had been hacked.

The computer matches made for me had only a vague relationship to the criteria I established for my matches. I was looking for a single 55 year old guy from the East Coast. I was matched with women, with people on the opposite coast, with people who were 'disengaging' from their current spouse. When I finally gave up on the site after the 4th hack, I requested a refund, and was told that because I had written to ANYone on the site, I was ineligible for a refund. Company policy was firm on this point. My advice to anyone similarly afflicted by an experience on Match: do a chargeback with your credit card company and TAKE BACK your membership fee. Obviously, this is the only thing that will get the attention of this disreputable organization.

They do not email you notification that your 6 months is up, they do not email you notification how much they are planning to charge you for the following 6 months. This is a dishonest practice. Signed up with Match.com back in July. I thought it was a monthly charge and not a non-refundable year charge of $239.88. Once I logged in and saw that anything pretty much I selected they tried to upsell you and then finding out that the $239.88 was an upfront charge I cancelled... or so I thought I did. Since it was obvious the first cancellation/deactivation didn't work I filled a dispute with my credit card company and on that same day cancelled/deactivated my membership again. Of course the credit card company was no help at all and ended up adding the $239.88 back on to my credit card once Match.com provided the receipt to what I thought I cancelled. The second time I cancelled I actually received their form email with the heading "We're Truly Sorry to See You Go" but no mention of any refund whatsoever. Only a place to click to "Reactivate Account Now" thru 7/4/2018.

How are they allowed to charge a full year for only a month of service even when I thought I cancelled back at the same time or near the same time I signed up? I am sure there was something in the fine print somewhere but I surely don't remember seeing a "NO Refund" policy. Since I see so many complaints kind of on this same subject why is the Attorney General or someone not looking into their billing practices. Match.com I sure there is a refund coming back to me in the near future but with what I read by others here that looks very doubtful. I had been a member of Match.com for three years with no problems. On July 29, 2017 I received an email saying that my profile changes were approved and if I hadn't made any changes then I should contact Match. When I logged on to my account sure enough there was a man's profile who lived in LA while I am a woman that lives in TX. I immediately contacted Match and they told me that this person charged a total of $71.52 (3 transactions) and that my credit card would be immediately refunded. Well two weeks go by and no refund. I then contact my credit card company and told them to dispute those charges which they did.

Fast forward to Sunday morning and I try to get on my account but I receive a message that my account has been frozen. I emailed customer care and they tell me since I disputed those charges my account was closed. Mind you those charges were made by a hacker and I was told in an email that the money would be fully refunded to me!!

I then call their 800 number the next day to talk to a customer service person and all they could say was that my account was closed due to me disputing a charge and there was nothing they could do. I tried to explain to them the whole situation but they just kept saying there was nothing they could do. Now the kicker of this whole thing is that I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said NO! Mind you this is a multi-million dollar company and there is no supervisor for me to talk to?? They said that they would review my account and it could take up to 60 days to investigate. Since I prepaid my membership for 6 months and had 3 months left on the membership I called my credit card company and told them to dispute the charges for my membership and block any other charges from them. After all why would I pay for a service that I am not getting?

I am through with Match.com and even if they say please come back as this was all a mistake that will not happen. I emailed them yesterday via their website explaining all of this but haven't heard back from anyone. Does anyone have an email address that goes directly to their corporate office? I have been in the service industry my whole life and have never encountered the so called customer service that I received on that phone call. BTW, they even sent me a survey to fill out and I crucified them! I am waiting to see how they handle the credit card disputes as I know they can tell their side to the credit card company and it can be reversed. I do have all of the emails from them telling me that I would be immediately refunded and that my account was hacked so I feel that I have a leg to stand on. If they do get the charges reversed I will be going to the media as there is a consumer reporter that I can contact.

Didn't like it because there were so many fake profiles, so about 2 weeks into my one month membership I went to my Match account and followed the instructions on how to cancel. Did that 2 weeks before my renewal date. But saw the renewal fee charged to my bank the next month.

Contacted Match and was told that they had no evidence of me canceling even after telling them I answered all of the canceling questions and after canceling I received a notification stating that I would still be able to use the site until August 4th. Asked to speak to a manager and was told that they were the person to talk to and there was no manager only the billing specialist and there was no one "further up" to talk to. If this happens call your financial institution immediately to cancel and have them investigate the charge. I explained my experience with Match to my bank exactly how it happened and they were happy to investigate the claim and reverse the charges until the investigation was over. Also contact your state Attorney General's Office.

Also I mentioned to Match that there were so many fake profiles on their site that it wasn't worth the membership. There was one man with several pictures that contacted me and my son. Googled his photo and he was a famous author. He wrote poorly and didn't use correct terms. Also I had several men contact me that wrote in broken English. Also one fellow was a successful businessman and gave me his information and where he lived. Looked it up and he didn't even live close to where he said he did. Fake too.

However, it works best when one lives in a populated area and is within a younger to mid age range. For me, being a bit older now and living in a rural area for the last few years there are very limited choices of profiles with the same people year after year. It is unrealistic to even think of traveling over about 35 or 40 miles to meet someone for coffee and then that distance could also be difficult for maintaining a relationship for someone who is established in a house with a job etc. (Same for OurTime by-the-way).

(This is so they can communicate with you off the site to avoid being found out.) Also, they usually tell you how beautiful you are right away, something who is genuinely interested in who you are doesn't do. And when you message them, they may not respond to your questions but continue to give you compliments. I want people to be able to notice these red flags if they should decide to sign up.

My profile was hacked within a few days of signing up. They blocked my account right away (which was one right thing they did). I re-signed up after things were cleared up. But I can't help but feel my profile is not getting viewed. I've only received a few messages in six weeks and nothing in the past 12 days. And after reading other reviews, my suspicions have been justified. I went through a very lengthy process of cancelling my membership as I was no longer interested in what Match.com had to offer. I went from screen to screen cancelling and all the "Are You Sure?" questioning as they must think I didn't know when I want to cancel. Or is it that they hope you will assume you have reached an end point and be cancelled only to find out later that you hadn't gone far enough? A few days later, I saw on my bank card online account that I had a pending charge for 3 more months! I immediately called and spoke to a representative and told her I had cancelled a few days earlier. She asked me if I had received a cancellation e-mail. When I signed up I used an e-mail address for match.com and other online things that I don't worry about getting spammed but that I never check, so I didn't know if I had or not. I finally checked and no, I had not received a cancellation confirmation e-mail.

Since the charge had not actually gone through and was still pending and I had not been using the service, I asked if she could go ahead and cancel the charge, as it was my full intention several days before the end of my contract to cancel the contract with match.com. Basically I was told rather impudently a flat out NO! I had not cancelled and therefore I was subject to another $75.00 for another 3 months. I said I thought that was unreasonable since I had not been using the service and since I found the cancellation process deceptive and too difficult. I filed a dispute with my credit card company but match.com claims I used the service after the last day of the contract. I actually may have checked to see if I was still able to use the service but that was the extent of it.

Long story... but it appears there is no way out of another 3 months of match.com. However, even though I have been charged, I have been locked out of the service. I am paying for what I cannot even use. How can they do that? I wonder if anyone else has had this experience. Just a word to the wise, make sure you have actually completed the cancellation process, even if you THINK you did, make sure...

There was a time when Match.com was king of the hill. Certainly, it had its flaws and quirks but it worked as advertised. NOT NOW. As a returning customer I know how their site works. But I was surprised that so many people who were winking at me were showing up in the "winks" section when I checked. Match will tell you that these winks are from fake accounts or that I had blocked or hidden them. But on further investigation I discovered - no. There is a major bug in the system that prevents genuine people trying to make contact from actually making contact. Their site is broken. So here I am, and I suspect 1000's of others, being denied contact with genuine people because of a bug in the system - whilst Match.com continues to take our money.

I demonstrated the issue to one of their operators, who admitted there was an issue. Then they denied there was an issue. Then maybe there was an issue, and then they denied there had ever been an issue. I spoke to a manager and asked him to contact the IT team for information. He refused to do so and challenged me to write any bad reviews I wanted. And no, he would not offer a full or partial refund or extend my membership until the fault was rectified. A month later and the fault persists. Match are not interested. So if you think that you are going to meet people, then pray that you get correct notifications because I've got a huge amount of people who'd expressed an interest in me that Match.com refused to tell me about.

Do they care? Not at all. They have my money and they think they're big enough to ride the storm. Most people won't even be aware of the problem. If you don't see people trying to get in touch then you just assume no one is getting in touch. So Match can hide behind an almost invisible fault. I found it by complete accident and discovered a round-about way of proving it. The fault is not visible by way of their site, you have to know how to show it - and then they deny it. There are better sites out there. And sites that actually function as described. I'd recommend trying them first. But if you go the way of Match.com, be prepared that (in my experience), you may never see the people who are actually interested in making contact at all - and who would waste their money on that?

If you're going to use the services of Match.com, make sure you CANCEL your membership the minute you pay for it, and DON'T purchase through PayPal, or else be prepared to watch your PayPal account carefully to make sure you're not being charged without your consent.

I bought a 3 month subscription to Match.com through Groupon. I paid $68.67 for three months during the summer of 2016. It was to expire in Sept. of 2016, and would automatically renew if I did not cancel. The service was the same dull losers over and over again. So I called and canceled my service (so I didn't get billed again). Just 3 days ago I get billed again for 3 more months.

I called the number provided by my bank and spoke with someone who barely speaks English (with annoying difficulty) and come to find out they had been billing my card every three months for over a year now. They said since they had no record of me calling and canceling my membership in Sept. of 16 that they could only refund the last payment. I said "You didn't notice that I haven't used my acct in almost 10 months." So If I didn't notice them billing me every 3 months they would have continued to bill my inactive Match.com account until I figured out. DON'T TRUST THEM. THEY WANT YOU TO FORGET AND JUST KEEP PAYING. THE SERVICE IS REALLY BAD IN NASHVILLE. I MET SOME EXTREMELY NARCISSISTIC WOMEN BUT NO KEEPERS. I WILL NEVER USE MATCH.COM AGAIN!!!

When need to change my password they say "try again later". Now they have changed the format so that you don't see if the person has not been on for 3 weeks and they now just show head shots! Not only that I haven't been on Match since 2012 and it's the same men on there... with the SAME OLD PICTURE. Some even have pictures from 2000 when I met a guy but in the end he turned out to be emotionally unavailable. Never met a man like that so it took me a long time to figure it out! Not sure why these men cannot find a woman for years? There is a reason! They like companionship but that's about it. After the honeymoon phase they change.

Match will never refund you even if it is their error. The company and its website is not set up to make it easy to find a decent human being. It's gotten worse every time. This will be my 3rd time on Match. I have not posted a picture because I don't want creeps so I go to them first and the quality of men has deteriorated over the years. I hear POF has improved so may try them. They used to be a hookup site and now I heard that they are better than match.com which wouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Just be decent and do business in the ethical way and that's all it takes... ethics! It's not rocket science and customer service and a decent website that doesn't say, "Sorry we can't process your request at this time, try again later."

One of my pictures was used to create a fake Match.com profile. Which was likely used to lure in unsuspecting members. A friend of mine found the profile, contacted the person and also took a screenshot of the profile which he forwarded to me. I contacted Match.com through all available channels and could not get anyone to care. I provided the screenshot and was basically told that they could not find the profile (they can apparently do a current screen name search) or did they care. I asked them to search a history of screen names, find the person's real info and then find the person. They refused. No one would follow up, no one really had any interest in doing their job to protect the people on the site. I am not sure why people would create a fake profile but it's not for a positive reason and they are allowing someone to put their members at risk.

The site itself was fine, but wasn't anything better than a free website. The complaint I have is with their billing. I bought a six month subscription which stated that if I hadn't found "the one" after six months, they would give me a free six months. After two months I'd lost faith in the website and cancelled my subscription. The website has a cancellation page which tells you that you will no longer be charged. After the first six months was over I was charged again for a second six months. I called their customer service and raised hell, but was told that there was nothing I could do to get my money back. They have told me again that my subscription has been cancelled. I'll be looking for another charge in six months.

They keep good looking profiles to sell a good image to you and make your profile more visible when you join or after re joining but that won’t take long. I used many dating apps and on Match you will find dull and ugly guys as a majority and the few good looking ones are so busy responding to the ladies that you will have to be lucky! Guys on non paid apps are also looking for smth more, don't pay for this ** company. If you find a problem they won't fix for you - SUCH AS MY SO FAR 200 POUNDS THAT THEY KEEP TAKING FROM MY ACCOUNT!

I tried sending an e-mail and it was rejected since it was for a refund.Today, Monday, I called and was told I could not have a refund. I asked to speak to a manager and it was denied. I asked to speak to someone who spoke English. Again it was denied. I was offered $28.01 refund for an $83.97 charge. It was that or nothing. What a scam. DO NOT JOIN MATCH.COM.

Incidentally they now own plenty of fish so it's same situation but worse.... Send hundreds of emails get a couple responses. Company makes it perfectly clear they don't care. They also have a "F" rating with BBB.

Match.com uses continuous subscription in order to get money from subscribers. If you don't cancel the automatic renewal check box you will continue to be charged despite only wanting a time bound subscription. This is detailed in small print. Even when you do stop the automatic renewal you are bombarded with pop ups asking you to pay additional sums for additional services. These pop up are misleading and say things like 'for one month only with no need to cancel automatic renewal'. Customer Services are appalling. They read a script and have a policy of absolutely no refunds - no exceptions. This is not a love making organisation but a scam. Avoid like the plague.

This site is a complete scam. I signed on a 1 month subscription and due to a lack of suitable matches, I decided not to renew. I was surprised to discover that the subscription automatically renewed. The only reason I knew this was that I viewed it on my bank account. No receipt or transaction was sent to my e-mail. This indicates to me that this business wants to sneakily charge their subscribers and scam them out of money. When I called the customer service line they refused to assist me by refunding me the money. They cancelled my subscription for the next month and attempted to act like they had satisfied my request. When I asked what would happen with the money I already paid she advised me I would not be refunded. I expressed again that I did not want to continue the service but the representative then refused my request. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was refused as well.

This tactic is extremely sneaky. There are literally hundreds of online dating sites. Why would I continue to use one that scams their customers out of money? The representative claimed that I should have known it would charge me but yet I did not see anywhere that I would be charged automatically again. Don't you think I would have attempted to prevent this had I known?

I signed up for the one month plan at the most expensive rate so that I wouldn't be billed for a monthly subscription. I would never have agreed to a subscription because the price was too high. There are other sites out there with better matching systems and lower prices. I didn't realize they had been billing my credit card for several months and when I realized and asked for a refund. No refunds ever! That's basically what the customer service rep said. Do not be scammed by this site! Do not sign up to pay anything. Go elsewhere.

Even though I did all of that, they ignored my request and took the $ and will not refund it. This has happened to five other people that I know. I do not recommend this site at all. I lasted a week. I had been contacted by 10 men and 8 of them were looking for money. I contacted Match and they did not really seem to care. They told me that I had to be careful. Their Canadian call centre is not in Canada. It is not even in North America. Needless to say that anytime I have contacted them, I can barely understand a word the person is saying. If you want to access your account online, there is an issue with getting to their full website from a desktop. That has been going on for three months. Perhaps the shadiest company I have ever dealt with. Stay away!

This site is a big problem. It has men on there are married, separated, or have a girlfriend. I am only looking at the women's part. This guy was dating a woman and he went out with me. He is a manager at the bedroom store in Bridgeton Missouri. His name is Ron ** from Maryland Heights MO. He took advantage of me and now, he is dating a woman and he is harassing me. So the moral of this story, is that Ron took advantage of a woman with a disability and now he is still on the site and I was asked to leave or forced to leave. I think that Match.com has their priorities screwed up. If he has a girlfriend why is he still on it? That is a big question. I can give proof that I have been disabled since I was 7 years old. Oh yeah they are affiliated with okcupid, chemistry, and many more. Match is the owner of all of them.

I then read the reviews and the biggest problem besides being scammed was the auto billing... Thank god I used PayPal. They have an option to cancel auto payments. So I check my credit card statement, and there are two charges from Match.com for a 3-month subscription. As anyone would do, I contacted my bank to dispute the 2nd charge. My Match.com is immediately shut down. When I try to contact Match.com, their "customer service" (and I use that term VERY loosely) told me that when anyone disputes a charge from Match.com, they immediately stop access to the owner's account. I was charged TWICE! They refused to let me access my account, even though I was only in the 1st month of my 3-month subscription. I have used Match.com before, but I am now thankfully going to use the many much better online dating options available. Please re-consider any memberships with this online product. I tried to dispute the second charge as well, since I did not receive the services I paid for, but they would not refund my membership.

BUYER BEWARE!!! MATCH IS AN UNETHICAL COMPANY WITH FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM WITH YOUR $$$. Tried to sign up through their site. It would not process my payment. I kept getting an error message. I tried several times, with a couple of payment choices - my credit card and PayPal (which is associated with a different email address but the SAME funding account and personal identification information. AND the email addresses are EXACTLY the same except for one is me.com and one is hotmail.com). It finally worked. I successfully purchased a 3-month subscription. Only to find later that evening that their faulty site had processed more than one payment and opened more than one profile under my name, using both email addresses and charging me hundreds of dollars!!!

Match WOULD NOT REFUND THE OVERCHARGES because they said that these were DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS!! Cited their 'policies and procedures' dictate that refunds aren't allowed! Whoa!!! This was their site's error, not mine! Their 'chat' person could clearly see in their records that the subscriptions were identical in terms of my personal information, the date and time of the purchase, and the credit card used for both were the same!!! A subscription is with a PERSON, not an EMAIL ADDRESS!!! AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THIS WAS THEIR ERROR!!!

Their 'chat' person would not escalate my complaint nor was I allowed to actually speak to a manager!! Their 'chat' person just kept quoting from their p&p manual and then disconnected the call and disabled my ability to lodge another complaint or 'chat' with anyone else!!! Match would not take responsibility for their error which cost me hundreds of $$$!!! I'm sure that I can't be the only one this has happened to!! This company is completely unethical!!! A consumer should have the ability to speak with a person within any organization selling a service to the public and secure the refund of unauthorized funds.

This is outrageous! I repeatedly requested to speak to management and a full refund. I was hung up on. There is no phone number to actually call and speak to anyone. You are at the mercy of their 'chat' person!!! This company is unethical and fraudulent. Never, never, never support this company by purchasing a subscription. There are plenty of other services one can avail themselves of. Buyer beware!!!

I used a rebate site so I got most of my money returned to me, so I didn't lose much. If this is the best dating site on the web (like their Ad says) I hate to see the worse!!

Match.com has an auto-renew process that can't be turned off. I turned it off last time they auto-renewed me back in December 2016, but it magically got turned back on again. I got an email 12-hours ago that I had been automatically renewed. I immediately contacted match.com where they politely told me to go F-myself. I was on the hook for another six months.

The positive about match.com is the thought that, "Hey, all the users are paying for this service, so that means that everyone on here is genuinely interested in meeting someone. People are going to take this seriously - not like those FREE sites." I've not found this to be true. Many people are screwed like I was and are trapped in the site by predatory auto-renew practices. I think they now have a free trial option, where users can have full benefits for an amount of time. So while some users are paying to have a legitimate meeting experience, they are interacting with users that have no "skin in the game". The site itself is "meh". There's really no intelligent matching system behind their "Percent match". Basically, they're just looking at things that you think you like and comparing them: "Oh, you want to date a ** woman between 30 and 40? This user is a 36 year old ** woman. You guys are a 100% match!"

Whenever I log on, I immediately get a catfish. A user with a beautiful picture sends me a "wink" and a "like" of one of my pictures. Her profile is clearly fake, with only one or two pictures and a short, basic profile with a Gmail address. Really, match.com? You can't create an algorithm that finds variations of "gmail" within the profile? When I go to report this profile, I am forced to document the details of what's wrong. I actually have to stop and write a statement about why I think the profile is false. Did I suddenly get a job as Quality Control and Cybersecurity at match.com? Where's my paycheck? There isn't an option to click that says, "Duh. Take one look. A 3-year old can see this is a fake profile." Match.com does not follow up and tell users what they are doing about this problem of fake users.

In general, online dating is set up as a meat market, not a MEET market. Match is set up in such a way that women are overwhelmed by the amount of emails they get, forcing men to either play the "numbers game" of sending out lame mass emails in the hopes of finding one person to respond. It is like being a sad witness to a real-life National Geographic documentary of the biological imperative as the male of the species indiscriminately tries to spread his seed far and wide.

I was surprised to find I was not getting any replies so, I did some research and found out that many of the profiles are from "Free members" whom do not receive the details of messages sent from "Paying members" like me and the free members cannot send messages. There is no way to determine which are free or which are paying members so you don't know whether they are receiving your messages and/or your contact information so they cannot reply. I contacted Match.com and they confirmed the above is correct but, they would not tell me what percentage of members were free and what percentage were paying members.

Most often they were the same men with a few new ones thrown in for good measure I guess. After contacting a few, I found most were posing as eligible men and many were no longer members at all. Match does NOT remove a profile once a member has terminated their membership.

I contacted Match.com via telephone after giving it a try for 3 weeks to discuss a refund due to my total dissatisfaction. I was told they could not give me a refund; I didn't qualify for a refund. The representative told me that you are only given 2 days to try it out and after 2 days you are no longer entitled to a refund. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told, "NO.
