I cancelled my service for Match.com and before the end of my subscription period they blocked me from access to their site even though I was still paying for it. This is a violation of their customer agreement and I believe it is happening on a huge scale and is worthy of a class action suit by some attorney looking for a good case. They also are using my profile without my permission to attract new users and I am not being compensated for it. As a result, Match send me notes saying Ms. X is interested in my profile, but I cannot access her note unless I re-subscribe, even though I am fully paid until the end of this month. Match makes it difficult to cancel and uses many tricks to keep billing your account. Their customer service is also slimy. Beware. Match will bill you well after you die. So if you know of any good class action lawyers, Match is a great case. They are worldwide and are pulling these scams on many continents.

GET A NEW DEBIT CARD if you have allowed them access to your debit card account. Once you do this, it will be as if your Match.com subscription no longer exist, you will not have very much access regardless of if your subscription was near expiring or not. However, at least you will have peace of mind that they won't be able to illegally charge your account. They are certainly FRAUDULENT!!! You pay for a subscription but you have very limited access. You can send messages but have to pay more money to receive messages. REALLY???!!! Not what I expected when I was subscribing to a dating site. RUN!!! Match.com is A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!

Extremely dissatisfied with the cancellation process. I signed up a 2nd time in December 2015 and cancelled online in April 2016, before my 6 months contract. I thought nothing of it until I called to check my credit card balance and see that match.com not only charged me June 2016 but also December 2016. When I called 1800-326-5161 twice, the first time I was told that they could not find any account for me and the agent disconnected the call on me. On my second time around I was told that they have no request for cancellation and as a one time goodwill move they can give me a partial refund of my December charge since I did not cancel online properly. I informed the agent that I cancelled and deactivated my account online in April but I never received any cancellation email.

Long and short of this - I believe that this is a way of ripping off unsuspected subscribers and something should be done. This is not the first time Match.com has done this but in 2010 I was caulking it up as an oversight on mine and their part but not this time around. I think that we as ex-members should band together and file a class action lawsuit against Match.com and put an end to this unfair practice (let's see how they like to pay for service that have not been received). They need to stop taking advantage of individuals, as I can just imagine how much unsuspected individuals has been affected. As for me they got $350 Canadian for a service that was cancelled over 8 months ago. Let's band together and put an end to this.

I subscribed to Match.com with the hope of meeting a companion. Two of my dear friends met their spouses through this dating site, and I was optimistic. I met a couple of incredible people, but here is where Match.com failed to protect me, as well as my children. I believe a simple background check of paid subscribers would have eliminated my experience. Also, I had ended my subscription after three months, but they continued to use my profile and pictures for over a year to mislead people who were genuinely looking for love. Match.com also failed to issue me a refund for the three month subscription. Listed below are my two dating stories from hell:

First relationship: Was a person not living within the 50 mile radius I had specified. We had mutual interests, and he offered to fly to my city. I only provided my telephone number. After a few weeks of conversation, and texting, he calls to tell me about his two sick and dying dogs (it's cancer). He wants me to wire $20,000 into two separate bank accounts. I play along, obtain all information, and immediately notify all applicable law enforcement agencies. He actually was living in Ghana. Match.com apologized, but said they have no way of knowing if someone is actually scamming a member, and refused to refund my membership.

Second relationship: A handsome, charismatic man who happened to work in the same field, we also had a couple mutual business acquaintances. I did a background check through Spokeo, and nothing unusual came up. After a casual month of dating, something made me question his background. I did another internet check, and found he was charged and convicted of Assault with a Deadly Weapon in 2004. It was that easy. I notified Match.com immediately, yet they continue to allow this member full access to their site, even after I provided the court records. Please be wary of this business. Do your own background checks. As for me, I plan on meeting my next companion at the grocery store. I'll take my chances.

I was a member of Match.com for 2 days. During that brief period I was contacted by 3 different women trying to solicit money. One was from Russia and wrote me a sad e-mail telling me how she would relocate and become my mate. The other 2 were similar stories except both were from Ghana. Their stories were very different but they both 2 wanted me to pay for their relocation to become my mate. I signed up to meet a legitimate date and instead had my cell phone and laptop compromised by foreign scam artist. As for a refund, Match.com was willing to cancel my renewal but charged the full 3 months for 2 days of danger exposure to criminals. Match.com is as unscrupulous as the scam artist using them as a platform.

They got my money... again. They rely on a shady practice of not telling you when your subscription is about to expire, and ready and willing to tell you "too bad". I knew if I looked up Match.com reviews I would find the same clog of frustration/anger with this site's shady practices of knowing that (A) life is some times a little hectic to know exactly when your subscription will expire and (B) not send you a notification tell you otherwise. This is a "feature" they say they do not currently have. Below is my So-Long to their "contact us" link.

Dear Match, Why do I have to put a reminder in my calendar about the auto-renew feature that Match has you agree to and will not refund your money once its happened? I just spent a half hour telling your C.S. dept they can have their feature, and join the rest of the world to send out an auto-reminder that they're about to be charged 75 bucks if they don't cancel.

This practice is shady. To hide your money funnel in your terms is not good enough, people. Email reminders is a known function of business as a courtesy to let them know they are about to be auto-charged if they do not cancel. THAT would be a courtesy I know most people to get behind. That you're concerned my emails to a possible date could be interrupted. If you were that concerned, you would put an AUTO REMINDER ABOUT THE RENEWAL CHARGE. Instead of getting a partial refund now of 19 dollars, I want you to have my 75 that you will never get again and use my frustration to tell all I know never to use Match. Never to sign up with a company that uses small print to hide their sneaky, no full refund policy, in their terms of services. Please be better than this.

For the safety of members it would be great if this website offered the options for their members to review and vote one another. It would also be helpful if they provided background checks on their members. It would save people so much lost time and heartache. I contacted Match's Customer Service and they could not find a resolution for my experience. I dated for 8 months a man who greatly deceived me. He has two accounts on Match.com which are ** and **.

Ladies please do your research as I did but unfortunately towards the end of our relationship before dating this man. His name is David **, age 60 and lives in Algonac, MI. His employment is in Farmington Hills, MI for Avon Automotive and normally seeks out women in that area such as myself. He has been divorced twice and was abusive towards his ex wives as well as towards me which is why I left him. Please save yourself the heartache and do your research on anyone that you meet online. I'm so relieved to get out in time before things escalated.

Used to be a good site. What's changed: If you have a free account, you'll probably notice your view count skyrocketing. You'll be getting "likes", winks, and emails but of course you can't see any of the users that are showing interest until you pay. Once you do, you'll notice that many of the profiles that were interested are now hidden or no longer exist. The emails, likes, winks, and views mysteriously slow down drastically. A large percentage of the female profiles appear to be fake. Pics are pulled off of various sites online and pasted into profiles. Match.com has been sued over this for millions. At best, they are looking the other way when fake profiles are posted. At worst, Match.com is posting them. Either way, it seems their business practices have changed since the last time I used them. They no longer verify content or pictures when profiles are posted which they used to do.

Believe what other people are writing. I thought I cancelled my account online; I was careful to choose a 1-month membership, and after about 2 weeks of receiving absolutely horrible matches (men seeking men, women seeking women - I clearly indicated I'm a woman seeking man, "matches" that were WAY out of my preference range), I decided to cancel.

Somehow navigated the website, and thought I cancelled. I look at my CC statement 2 months later and see that I'm still getting billed by them. Then I call the number that was associated with the charge on my statement, and when the representative asked why I was cancelling, I told her, "honestly, match is for **." She verified my personal information, and in less than a total of 5 minutes on the phone with her, my account was cancelled (I hope). She assured me that I'll no longer be billed. I'll be checking, though. (Also, I asked for it in writing, and we'll see about that, too.) Seriously, don't use match.com. It's a total waste of money, time, and dreams. You'd have better luck finding "the one" at a seedy bar at closing time.

I joined Match.com in September of 2016. The site never properly worked and I called in soon after joining to report the issue that I was having. They only gave me an additional 7 days. I spoke with a representative and asked about canceling the subscription. She told me that I had nothing to worry about and here it is after not using the site for the past 2 months they automatically billed my account for $88.60.

I am so pissed off right now and when I called two days ago they offered me half of the money back and now they only want to give me $25.06. I will never join any online anything and this site is a ripoff and fraud. They tried to get me to agree to the refund and I said no way because that was not enough. On December 16, 2016, I found that my Match.com account auto-renewed twice (in the months of July and October 2016) without my knowledge, consent, or activity on the site. I had signed up for a 3-month subscription on March 28, 2016 and my last login, at which time I thought I retired the account, was June 23rd. I was of the understanding that, unless an individual chose to renew, the account would close at the end of the billing cycle as most things do and believed I had taken the steps necessary to cancel further subscription.

I deactivated the account on my last login. I received no further communications or notifications from Match, so I was of the understanding that the service was cancelled. I have subsequently learned that only account cancellation prevents this covert automatic billing, which I am told is an "understood" thing when you create an account. Clearly, it is not an "understood" thing, as I was completely unaware I was paying for a service I was not using and to which I did not believe I even had access. You, as the consumer, receive no notification that you are being billed or that your account it still visible to others. This means that my account was still "active" online without my awareness or curation and that I was being billed for time that I was not using.

On December 19th, I was told by a customer care rep, Ed, that I would receive a partial refund for the October 5th billing of $80.89. He stated that the other contested amount from the July billing would need to be handled by Account services. That evening, I received an email rescinding all refund possibilities and stating that, while they were in the wrong for offering any refund, they would not honor the amount promised. During the December 19th phone call, I also asked that my account be completely removed. A secondary email stated that I would have full access to the account until January 4, 2017, something I had expressly asked be dismantled.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Texas and have requested a customer complaint form via mail from the Attorney General of Texas Office of Customer Protection as well as a consumer complaint check that should provide insight into how many complaints have been formally filed against Match. I have never been so lied to or robbed by a company. If someone had taken $160 from me in any other way, I would go to the police. When I asked for a corporate complaint number, I was informed that one did not exist. The email address I was given, "customercare@support.match.com" is the same one through which I've already unsuccessfully communicated. The service rep on 12/20, "Elmer", said that my only option would be to speak to another representative who was similarly "unauthorized" to offer or fulfill refunds (despite the exact opposite happening to me 4 days ago).

Even more interesting, when I asked for prior login dates today (Dec. 20, 2016), the date which had earlier been confirmed by "Ed" the service rep as the date I attempted to end my service was no longer on record. Additionally, a new date on which I definitely did not log in had been added. I believe this means they are tampering with the information on accounts in their favor as well. This suggests they are either not properly accounting for activity on their site or are accessing individual pages outside of the subscriber's use to make it appear that those accounts are more active than they are -- a deeply concerning idea.

The number you will find on the website 1-800-926-2824 only gives you call center representatives, no matter which option you choose at the start menu. The 866-889-9176 number listed on their corporate page automatically hangs up on you. While I have tried multiple times on different days and at different times, the pressing 0 for a receptionist at 214-576-9352 has yet to render any human contact. The phone number associated with the original charge on my account (800) 326-5161 similarly has yet to be answered by a human being.

My subscription for Match.com was renewed without my authorization twice. The first time in June 2016. I gave Match the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I had not followed the instructions properly. Immediately after I followed all the steps and was confident I had turned off the auto subscription but 6 months later to my horror Match had taken another payment off me on December 2016.

I called them up and made a complaint and they tried to say I had re-activated the account. I stated I hadn't and told them I would now make a complaint to the office of fair trading and would pursue a civil complaint through the courts. I also instructed my bank that a payment had been taken without my consent. Fortunately MATCH customer service agreed to refund the amount they had taken on the 17/12/2016 after I had complained on the 20/12/16. They checked my account and saw I had not used it.

I would advise anyone to turn off auto subscription but also delete the account way before your subscription is about to end. As you may log into the account and use it as you have paid for it but then an automatic renewal will be activated without your consent and then you will be billed. They will try and fob you off, do not stand for it!

I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. Match makes men pay to read profiles of 'supposed' real women, many just separated when men had to swear they were divorced, to male bash, complain and whine about men in general and their past demanding you fill in for that ** to be next husband and father with absolutely no chance at sex, physical love, love life all terms verboten! While you can count on political and news media 'phrases of the day' like 'no games', that's exactly what is going on.

When you first arrive you'll get some sexy woman who 'LIKE' this or that photo of yours. Before you can even email her thank you and say hi, she's already 'FAVORITED' you, which according to Match "don't let her go". You must like her back, favorite her back, only to find ZIP she's gone. Now she looks real because you liked and favorited her, but she's disappeared behind the "Safe Place" where Match will point out she still appears on your account under 'liked' and 'favorited' and it's your fault you're never online when she is again, and Match THEN uses women just like her to prove to you that they have real women men are getting someplace with.

As soon as you say, “Hey, wait a minute,” that's exactly what I did for this woman, but I didn't get anywhere, from then on in your complaints and concerns are redirected to a FAQ list that of course doesn't answer. BTW the Match answer for this is that you access her profile and click 'file a concern', except these files cannot be accessed behind the "Safe Space" to be 'filed as a concern'. I was only on seven weeks? But the last two weeks full time 24/7 thanks to the damn flu. So even when I did catch this or that 'favorite of mine' pulling the same thing on some newcomer, all she had to do was refuse to answer me. Worse, Match will KEEP sending you "We've selected her just for you", "You've been given the green light too" emails TO THE SAME PERSON THAT KEEPS REFUSING TO EVEN REPLY TO YOU SIX TIMES NOW. Worse, you get some woman complaining that you winked at her on a site that Wink is required.

Now then come these two guys. What the hell, a guy contacting me? Even as I’m thinking to complain why am I getting gay dates and no gals to Match, he starts typing in he's not gay, just reset his 'settings' so he could see how many guys there were in our region (200km) and ask if ANY of us had EVER gotten not only a date, but even an email, response even reply? I had to admit no but tossed it from my mind. Then some older guy says he's been here 2 years, and another he knows from our same town 161 days, and not a single date. As far as they know, NONE of the women claiming to be from our small town exist. Now when a woman claimed to be a teacher where I am, I had to take a second look. I even went back through the yearbooks. Nope. She and her entire family, grandma, pa, I’m a po widow, mother-in-law, grandchildren, children ALL someone else's or fraud. So now I'm suspicious.

Next guy makes me laugh. Profile says something like 'sally, 5'0" 90lbs, blond hair blue eyed Asian but his pic is a big ** guy. So I click on him. A couple of hours later a beep on the computer, even as he's going over the same thing, clank, we're cut off. He was asking the same concerns. His belief that Match was a COMPLETE SCAM. He supposedly knew one of the actors paid to pretend to have been a successful match. Our screens kept freezing. Nothing we typed was being saved. Last I saw he was trying to give me an email address then we were cut off. When I linked him again, I got the message "The account no longer existed, possible violations of Match principles." Ya, no doubt.

God I hope he's here someplace and says hi. I'm the guy. We should be able to corroborate something but you know what, never will. As long as they remove the laws we had for over a thousand years back to bloody Vikings about innocent till proven guilty, defence, proof and all, Match is WORSE THAN HITLER AND STEINEM. You're male so you're automatically guilty as long as it is gender related. Women never lie. We don't have to tell you squat why we're BANNING YOU AND STEALING YOUR MONEY. I ** you not, might've been my last day going through a brand new bunch of gals 'picked out for me' all liking and favoring me. Oh joy oh joy. What an unexpected boon and surprise eh? And there is this new account. Now you want proof of some feminist conspiracy just to male bash beyond none of the women willing to even suggest the possibility of 'physical relations' even after a lifetime of service?

This new fairy tale is this 'modern woman' amongst Match men 'intimidated by her empowerment', 'no good men after like 15 years looking?' goes to sperm bank, has baby, but now wants to try it with a man. He has to 'man up' to be a celibate husband, life-long soul-mate, to donate his sperm to bank, not even through intercourse, apparently so this time she can name him in both alimony as 'couple' and 'child support'. Now get this, not just for HIS kid, but the other one too! In her own words she says that since having a baby, despite a 'fantastic 24/7 live in nanny', it's harder to pay for the 'life from which she's become accustomed to'. Traveling the world, cruises, and all, the baby such an 'unexpected' encumbrance, so "NO GAMES, LOOKING FOR A REAL MAN TO MAN UP. BE A REAL MAN. COMMIT TO POSSIBLE LIFE LONG SOUL MATE, BEST FRIEND, AND FATHER TO NEW CHILD. NO POSSIBILITY OF SEX"... Come on, I had to laugh and say something.

Now ask someone who's been on or studied Match if I'm qualified. I've communicated with over 300 profiles (Match calls women, I now join the other guys who laughably crossed lines to ask... scripts), in less than 2 months. I've got 50 'favorites', 16 'she gave you the green light too' 'don't let her get away', AND NOT ONE SINGLE DATE, NOT ONE REPLY, RESPONSE OR EMAIL. NOT ONE. BUT I HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FOR NO REASON TWICE! No I didn't re-apply under a different name, first time when I was warned to delete all my pics and information before I was banned I found they’re-registered me'. This time I note that didn't work.

Now of course I'm pissed off at losing six months and my credit card company warns even more with Match, which I’d never heard of before, might be just her personal opinion, that you might have to change credit cards altogether to stop them from continually billing you, as she pointed out, if they believe they are above the law about why they can take money then kick you out, that's their state of mind. But seriously, some lawyer, some consumer affairs, some legal entity in the USA at least, Canada would just call all the men dissatisfied with such a 'sexist' enterprise as seeking only heterosexual relationship as misogynist, YEAH EVERY PATHETIC CANADIAN POLITICAL PARTY WHO ALLOWED WOMEN TO HAVE MEN PERMANENTLY LABELLED ** JUST BECAUSE SHE 'FELT UNCOMFORTABLE' EVEN IF THEY NEVER SAW EACH OTHER.

BUT COME ON AMERICA, LAND OF LIBERTY, JUSTICE AND LAW, THE STRONG AND BRAVE, SOMEONE DOWN THERE HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I ** you not. I came across this Chinese girl looking for an American husband online who claimed she worked for the fraudulent sex sites like Tinder and Match, you know, 'guaranteed' real in person hook-ups for sex with someone in your region, instead just shills for **, fan sites and 'webcam performances' you fools can see for absolutely free recorded on ** or anywhere else in just 2 or 3 days anyways. According to her, her entire 'office' included one gay guy and six former strippers now out of work.

Now here's the kicker, they are blatant frauds, yet even they have their ** email/chat you back over and over even if only to stick to some script or try out some bot program, right up there with old Atari artificial intelligence, but guys see ** and that's enough. No no no. It has to stop. THESE SEX FINDER, FLIRT AND SEEMINGLY EXPONENTIALLY MORE ARE ALL SAYING WHEN COPPING OUT, "Well Tinder and Match do it, we just copied them." So for Monty Python's sake, one of you, some of you, some department, some lone lawyer wanting to make a name for herself, just some lone individual American, take it to the courts, UNVEIL THIS **.

EVEN IF YOU CAN'T GET ME MY MONEY BACK IN SOME CLASS ACTION SUIT, THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!! Anyone, yes no maybe? Anyone know who I can contact? Any petitions we can sign? Please gods tell me this site isn't another Match fraud itself, just to double sweep the victims. Please and thank you for your time and consideration.

On December 13th, 2016 my credit card was charged $73.00 Canadian. They offered me a $22 US refund which is equivalent to one month subscription. In Canada, this is called negative billing and is illegal. I realize that I do not live in the US and am therefore not protected as a consumer. However, the only acceptable solution to this is a full refund to my credit card. As I read many reviews about free trial users being exploited, a class action suit should be filed on our behalf.

Instead, I was constantly getting "member" emails from women who lived overseas looking for a ticket to the USA, or women who had a free membership and were offering themselves as escorts. These escorts had free memberships where they couldn't correspond, yet they would put their email or text number on their profile picture to avoid detection.

I called and complained about the practice and lack of screening four times (after being on hold for 30 minutes plus each time) and after the fourth time I finally asked for a refund and was denied. Disgusted, I changed my profile from serious to ridiculous (saying I was unemployed and living in a pop up camper with my Mom) and still I was constantly getting solicited by foreigners or pros. Somewhere or somehow, someone must have complained about my profile or my response to emails I received and Match.com cancelled my remaining membership with no refund. I never used profanity of sexually explicit language and never violated the rules of conduct. I was cancelled and told that if I wanted an explanation I would need to serve them with a subpoena issued by a judge. Think twice before joining Match.com.

They make it impossible to get out once you're in. There is a cancellation link, BUT there's no way you will get your money back. (Free trial or otherwise). My original reason for signing up was not necessarily to find romance or a partner but to find someone to chat with online without risking connecting with a criminal. I discovered that in order to chat, you have to fork over more money in addition to the original membership charge.

The Match.com site is a big joke and the joke is on those of us who believed it was a reputable business. Once they get your credit card information, you're locked in and no way to get out. This tells me they know upfront that most people will be disappointed with the "service" they offer. It's not as if I've been using their site for weeks and tired of it. I only signed up LAST NIGHT. I will tell everybody I know about their sleazy business practice.

I searched 411 on my cell see Ojai, CA, so I call after I block my number and "text message email is not available".

A few mins later he texts! I say was wondering how you are and where? He does not give location and goes into lost my wallet need money. I decide to play along but say "sure send me the address", he needs it to his account, so I then say I was rearend today and have a fractured a rib can leave hospital tomorrow... He begs and begs for help ($) and I say good drugs intentionally misspelling... He texts me front and back of passport. I say that's not my Michael who am I texting? He sends a pic of the gorgeous man I think I'm texting. I text "call me right now", a few minutes later my cell rings = bad connection, African man's voice. I play along and he's trying to fake an accent. I say "you're NOT Michael. Michael is German. You're African". Still pretending to be drugged. He hangs up, I block his number.

As far as matching people for dating, NO not even close, no one monitors the profiles. As a cultured woman like myself is not interested in guys with shot guns, pickup trucks, seriously, I felt the ones who contacted me were all DESPERATE! They sent matches based on single item like you both like movies, never based on CORE values. I will not recommend this site except as avoid due to scammers.

I cancelled my account yesterday and I am glad I listen to that inner feeling and searched info and found it. He uses name Guy's name Michael ** DOB 11-10-1962, weight 180cm height 72kg... Santa Barbara 93101. Cannot manage to get your system to accept my paypal receipt. A few days ago he'd sent me a pic of that same gorgeous guy in a suit at work, whom I'd love to meet but I deleted it. So owner Match.com May I have a refund please?

When you initially sign up as an unpaid member, you begin receiving "winks" or "favorites" or messages from users, but you can't see what those messages are or even see who they're from until you've shelled out for a paid membership. Unfortunately, as other reviews have covered in detail, there are a vast number of fake/scam accounts. Those fake accounts are used to wink or message or favorite you, generating a wealth of email traffic indicating real people are actually interested in getting to know you, making you want to spring for a paid membership to find out who these people are. Only after you've paid do you find out that 90% of more of that traffic are from fakes/scammers.

What's so frustrating is how utterly simple it would be to implement even the most basic of identity verification to weed those out, but of course, they won't do that because the scammers actually generate business for them. I tried convincing a CSR to give me a refund, but once you've sent a single message using your paid subscription, you become "ineligible for a refund". They don't even try to argue that they didn't cheat you in the first place.

Instead of just approving my profile bio, the staff working right now behind the scenes I guess, is literally going in, removing ENTIRE sentences from my bio that I've written, and submitting/approving an alternate version. What. In. The. Holy. Heck? What is WRONG with this business/website? I can't even just be myself and write what I want within reason. Nothing I've written is out of the ordinary or breaking any TOS rules. I'm disgusted with this site - even more so that I paid for it. Clearly, they have people working in the background that don't speak English properly and/or can't comprehend humor and sarcastic wit. Moreover, the fact that they go in and "re-edit" what you've written just feels VIOLATING and dirty.

Be very careful giving this company your business. I read many reviews prior that stated you will have difficulty cancelling your membership and will have your membership re-billed and automatically renewed without your authorization. I signed up for a 3 month membership. Approximately 3 weeks prior to my membership expiration I went on the site and went through the cancellation process. I naively believed my membership was cancelled and would not be re-billed and renewed automatically. I should have contacted them to verify my membership was cancelled but I really didn't think that would be necessary. I was wrong. Sure enough my membership was automatically re-billed. I called Match and their customer service reps are very non sympathetic and impersonal. They basically re-read the terms and conditions in the fine print and refused to refund my money in full. They offer a partial refund only.

In my case they charged me $50 for one additional month where I initially paid $73 for 3 months. It is very difficult to navigate the site or navigate through the membership cancellation process in order to ensure you won't be re-billed. I can guarantee I went on the site and went through the cancellation process, to the best of my knowledge my membership was cancelled. I have read other reviews and seen numerous people complaining about the same issue with this site.

A couple of weeks prior to the auto renewal date, I did what I thought was a cancellation of the auto renewal but I apparently wasn't successful and didn't do it right. On what was the renewal date, and a Saturday, I received an email that I was charged for another 3 months. The same day I received email notification I had been charged. I contacted them, with the intent of explaining the mistake in trying to cancel a few weeks prior and get my money back because I was not interested in paying for a membership for another 3 months. When I called per their website, I found out they are not open on weekends which is not mentioned anywhere on their website.

I called the following Monday and was told they refuse to refund me due and a strict no refund after auto renewal is drafted policy. I asked for higher ups to speak to and was still refused. They said the best they could do is refund me for 2 months since my membership has been active for 3 days. I had been trying to contact them since the day I was aware I was charged and had no control over the fact they are closed on weekends. I asked them to completely cancel my account/profile right then since I was unable to figure it out through the website. I then informed them they cannot charge me for 30 days of a service I am not using but they still refused.

In addition to the refusal of my refund, the customer service people are the most absurdly rude people I have ever spoken to. It is illegal to charge a person for a service that is not being received, it is a breach of contract. This company should be shut down!! Their website is entirely too confusing when it comes to cancelling a membership which is why they are making money on people because the same thing is happening.

They REFUSE to issue ANY REFUNDS for any reason! I cancelled my "auto renewal" in the early part of December. Not knowing that I should have received an email confirming that I had done this. So Yesterday, December 11th, 2016, (Sunday evening) I discovered that they had charged my Credit Card $131.94. I immediately logged on and wrote a letter to their customer service disputing this.

Immediately on Monday morning at 9:04am I called their Customer number to request a refund. I was put on hold, listening to music and recorded messages to please wait and a customer service representative would be with me. I waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes - NO ONE EVER came on the line to help me. While I was waiting I logged into Match.com and saw that they had a "LIVE" customer assistant feature. So I tried that... which after three failed attempts of being logged off, each time I tried to respond... I did get a "Corina **" who kept telling me that "Unfortunately, your account is not eligible for a refund at this time. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

I contacted my Credit Card issuer (my credit union) and was told that I could start a dispute, but that it could take up to six months for the action. In the meantime, Match.com has my money! Furthermore, upon reading all of these other Negative Reviews, I am NOT the only one who this has happened to. And apparently they do NOT get the refund of money! So I think that it is all a really a big waste of time... Only thing I can do is get a new Credit Card issued with new numbers so that the card on file with MATCH.COM will be of no use to them.

This is really a very sad state of affairs. With so many complaints against them... I do not understand HOW they remain in business. SCAM ARTISTS!!! That's what they are! I wish I had researched and read these reviews ahead of time. I would have NEVER signed up with Match.com. Never again will I use any of these services. I have been with Match.ca for a couple of years on and off and usually let my paid membership expire. You have to ensure you cancel this correctly, or you do get re-billed, not exactly an honest way to run a business, but not my biggest concern. I noted that every time my membership expired I seemed to be getting more interest, when previously this was rather limited; however as you can't review these other members when you are not a paid member it was difficult to determine if they were genuine or fake profiles, so this time I did an experiment and I challenge others to do the same and see if you don't get the exact same results.

I live in a location where there is only one large town nearby and the province is also relatively small - NS. So I blocked all the profiles I did not like, where more than 2 weeks inactive or fake. The fake profiles are easy to spot as they usually have very attractive women but the pictures are scanned or taken from magazines or other sites - can often see things such as the add details on the picture. Also these profiles will almost always never have the height specified - usually just the lowest setting. There are other ways to spot fake profiles as well. So after all of this I was left with less that 15 profiles - out of 1000 I started with. As time went on a few new fake profiles came and went, but for the most part the genuine profiles stayed or I was blocked by them.

At the time my membership expired I was very aware of the genuine profiles and the very afternoon my membership ended I received several winks, emails, and likes. These were all local and new profiles. Mathematically and in terms of probability that is almost improbable. When I searched the profiles I suddenly saw a glut of new profiles - all fake, when previously past few weeks had seen very few. So my conclusion is Match is purposely creating new fake profiles and sending out 'interest' emails, winks and likes in order to entice members to rejoin the site by paying for few more months membership - which is effectively false advertising and illegal as it blatantly contravenes trading standards in so many ways.

Or these really are fake profiles and nothing to do with match; however, they do nothing to actually review these, in fact they encourage them. How do I know this. Well it's so easy to spot fake profiles as a member, so if Match has a team of people who supposedly review each member's profile - how do these get through their own system as I know for a fact real members profiles are reviewed and they will reject if you try to put something in your profile such as an email address.

Either way I have now proven that Match.ca and for that matter Match.com is nothing but a huge scam created to screw genuine members out of their hard earned cash. Let me be clear there are genuine people on the site, I don't dispute that, but I've demonstrated that as a company they are operating in a way that is designed to do nothing but hoodwink genuine people into membership of a site that is full of fake profiles put in place as a means to keep those genuine people interested and when they leave they send fake interest in order to get them to rejoin, interest that always turns out to be fake - as every time I did rejoin in the past, all the sudden interest was from profiles that no longer existed or were fake profiles that were still active. Please try what I have done and prove me wrong. If there is enough interest and action from others then sites like Match will be shown for what they really are - money scams.

I'm a new member to the growing club of those who were duped into an automatic renewal. I signed up for a 6 month membership, had an ok experience though also went through all the headaches mentioned here (spam from fake accounts, winks from bogus profiles, etc.), but went from ok to terrible when renewal time came around. I stopped logging into my account for the last few months thinking my membership would expire. I got a surprise charge of $135.65 renewing my membership with absolutely zero reminder or notification in advance - that's where they get you. I asked for a full refund shortly after seeing the charge but it was too late: their service reps (yes plural- you won't have one person working with you, you'll have a whole office of reps) just repeat "All we can offer is a partial refund."

They will tell you "Rest assured that your account will NOT be automatically renewed" AFTER they have your money and your account is cancelled. So if you do decide to make the mistake of signing up with Match, CANCEL THE AUTO RENEW RIGHT AWAY because there's no going back. No matter what records you request (last login date/time, last date/time you sent an email or made contact from your account) that could reinforce account activity or an intention to renew - they'll ignore (because there IS NO evidence that I was using the site in the weeks leading up to renewal). A different customer service rep will just repeat: "This renewal is as well indicated on the email confirmation that we sent you when you initially subscribed and the cancellation information is on Section 12B on the Terms of Use."

Yes, that single indication in the email confirmation you got 7 months ago, with ZERO other reminders, buried in 12 sections of Terms of Use policy. Amazon Prime does a great job of transparency and reminding you of exactly when your subscription will renew and for how much. Match.com just resorts to hidden renewal clauses to keep financially afloat on the backs of those who make the mistake of not pouring through their policies - like myself - because you can bet they're already prepared to say it's too late. Like some have mentioned here, I too would have reconsidered joining but after this, forget it. There are too many other great dating sites out there. Skip Match.com.

In October, I took my profile down, made sure my subscription was NOT set to auto-renew and left it at that. Fast forward to December 2016 and my bank account showed a withdrawal for a renewal. I logged back in and lo-and-behold, account still, active. I attempted to Cancel my Subscription online and Lo-and-behold "unable to process request" when attempting to send reason for cancellation. Called, and they were closed. Called back the next a.m. and spoke with a "Zoregn" who told me that he didn't see a cancellation back in October, even though I explained I chose to make sure it was not authorized to auto-renew. Told him that I attempted to cancel last night and he went on to tell me if I could send him copies of e-mail confirming my attempts to cancel then maybe they could do something.

I requested a supervisor and I was placed on hold - 37 minutes later (per my call meter) "Geneve" got on the phone and I explained to her the problem. In-between "per Match policy, we do not refund subscription fees after the account renews" I was able to communicate the situation. After 58 minutes of correcting statements made by the staff stating that they did not receive the cancellation they approved a partial refund of 67.98. The hassle is apparently programmed into their system. For me, it's far from worth ever doing business with them again. Oh, in case Match.com finds this unbelievable, it's recorded, incident # **.

DON'T JOIN MATCH.COM!!! THEY CARE ONLY ABOUT TAKING YOUR MONEY. When you try to cancel the automatic renewal on the website, it seems to accept that you're leaving, but doesn't send a confirmation email. Also there is NO way to remove your payment info, e.g. your credit card info. I attempted to cancel my subscription multiple times but I never received a cancellation email. You'd have thought after multiple times, that at least one of these cancellations has got through.. WRONG. As noted by another disgruntled ex subscriber, the website is designed in a way that even being able to email the "customer care" team is very convoluted and painful to navigate.

I cancelled my membership in early October and notified MATCH.COM to remove my credit card info. I was told they did. I logged into my account a few days later to make sure all my personal info had been removed, e.g. any info was deleted. I'd previously removed my photos but had failed to deleted some info. Although my account was deactivated, when I logged in it activated it again. This was done a month prior to the subscription expiration date. I deactivated the account and contacted their customer service asking them to remove it and reconfirmed that they removed my credit card info. All was reviewing and paying my bills 11/30/2016 and saw a charge for $120 for a 6 month renewal fee. I contacted the Match "customer care team" as soon as I noticed on my bank account. They don't care at all.

Any other business would accept some responsibility for their website not working. But with MATCH.COM there was no refund. They validated all the steps that if taken verified what I'd done but refused to refund my money not even partial refund. I spoke to a customer service person, a supervisor and to no avail. Their customer service is lacking too. They utilize scripts for the scenarios. Their customer service is awful. In my opinion they design their website in such a way badly (like making it painfully hard/impossible to delete photos) in order to frustrate members and get another subscription fee. Sounds cynical but if you're ever unlucky enough to use their website then you'll see what I mean...

How can they claim this is a match if the person has clearly said they would have no interest in meeting someone your age? It is depressing. So women should be aware that most men are only interested in women who are younger than them and you will only get 5-10% of matches who would be interested and they will likely be significantly older than you are. Match "guarantees" so many matches a week. I suspect they just send anybody and anything to fulfill their promise and they do not care whether they are potential matches or not. They also refused to give me a refund, in spite of the fact the matches they sent are not really matches.

I opened my mail this morning to find about 75 emails from match.com, I have NEVER been to match.com in my life. I am a happily married woman, a cancer patient whom has lost her daughter. The last thing I need is a flood of emails from some site asking/telling me that there are people men & women that want me! I don't know how they received my name or email but I was afraid to go to the unsubscribe as I thought it may make it worse.

As I stated I have never visited this site nor ever joined it as they are stating I have. I am at my wits end and really getting stressed out about this, I don't know what I should do. I don't want all these emails and just the thought that possibly my emails or a picture of me is out there somewhere is making me literally sicker than I already am. I hate this match.com & would like to know how they got my info. I do shop at amazon.com frequently. I just want it to stop.

First of all, I have joined several online dating sites and have found Match to be sub par at best. I was sure to cancel my subscription before the paid period was up so as not to be automatically charged with a renewal. I found that Match still charged me for a renewal and I called to dispute it. They said they had no record of my cancelling and they did make me doubt myself. They were very convincing. BUT when I asked for a refund they refused me stating it was their policy. They charged me on November 19th and I called November 28th. I asked them to note I had not logged onto the account since the end of my membership, which they noted to be true.

I assured them I would be writing a review to express my disappointment in the company and all of the sudden they were able to offer me a $23 refund of my $80 BUT they would shorten the membership period from 3 months to 1. At that point I did not care what they did. I was livid and had made up my mind to let others know how poorly I was treated. In hind sight, they duped me and are now charging me $60 for one month vs. $80 for 3 and they took advantage of my emotional state. They are awful, conniving and the second worst dating site out there.

I was not able to make contact Wednesday evening as the office were closed, and Thursday was the holiday, so now I am attempting to make contact today, Friday, 25 November 2016. The response I am getting from each person is "sorry, your membership is not eligible for a refund."

When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I am told, "ma'am we all work under the same policy." I am frustrated as I thought this was a valid site, and even with a deactivated membership, I am still being scammed. Have you ever gotten this... "Hey, good morning! Rise and shine! As you open your eyes to greet the morning sun, I wish that you would be well and fine. I hope you had a sound sleep. A warm "hello" doesn't come from the lips, it comes from the heart; doesn't have to be told, it has to be shown; doesn't have to be given, it has to be sent. God smiled at me just this morning through the rising sun rays. I'm sharing the same courtesy with you by sending you a warm smile that your heart can feel even without seeing. Take care and I will talk to you later." It is very unsettling that one can be scammed and charged a $250 subscription fee for something they never asked for.

DON'T JOIN MATCH.COM!!! I've never written a review before but after my recent treatment I had to share. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS YOUR MONEY!!! Details below: When you try to cancel the automatic renewal on the website, it seems to accept that you're leaving, but doesn't send a confirmation email. After doing this 10+ times, you assume that at least one of these cancellations has got through.. WRONG. (FYI - the website has also been designed in a way that even being able to email the "customer care" team is very convoluted and painful to navigate - for obvious reasons..)

A month later I got charged another £59.95 renewal fee. I contacted the Match "customer care team" as soon as I noticed on my bank account (within 14 days). Did they "care"? In short - NO! They don't care at all. Any other business would accept some responsibility for their website not working. But with Match there was no refund. No even partial refund. All you get is a generic reply (from a "Cecellia") and any further reply from the customer is automatically labelled as "Spam" in their email subject field.

Thanks Match, you definitely need to rename your "customer care" team to something more suitable.. "Customer - don't give a ** team" may be more apt. My opinion is that maybe they design their website so badly (like making it painfully hard/impossible to delete photos) in order to keep you single and get their greasy mitts on another subscription fee. Sounds cynical but if you're ever unlucky enough to use their website then you'll see what I mean...

No, I'm not writing out of the bitterness of a broken heart - I didn't meet a single person I even wanted to chat with. I had an account on and off but hardly ever logged on, then decided to go for it and subscribe. BAD IDEA. I regretted it as soon as I had subscribed and got to read my emails (which were either desperate, odd, or downright creepy). I unsubscribed within hours, then panicked because I couldn't find customer service for a refund. Finally found the hoops I had to jump through, and long story short, was refused a refund.

Apparently, I was not 'eligible' for a refund. What in the ** makes you eligible, if not cancelling within five hours of subscription? I just paid over two hundred dollars for a service that I didn't even use. Horrible, detestable, scummy, disgusting, unethical company - I would call them more names, but I just threw my thesaurus out of the window in a fit of rage. DO NOT encourage them, and DO NOT give them your money, because you will not get it back. If you must try online dating go with a site that has more scruples than this one, such as crooksonline.com or scumbagsonly.com. This company deserves nothing but bad reviews, and I wish I could give it zero stars (or just the pile of doo emoji - both would be fitting).

I thought I had canceled the auto-renewal but I guess I somehow didn't complete that transaction and so when I saw the charge pending on my CC, I immediately canceled and called to ask for a refund. I talked to a very rude customer service representative who would not budge until I asked to speak with her manager, at which point she offered to refund me $8 (I was asking for a refund of $60).

I clearly described the type of man I was searching for and I never got one single match close to my expectation. I got a lot of "he's interested in you". I emailed a few that seemed somewhat interesting and I never received a courtesy reply. There are men that states that their income is above 150+. If it is true, I would assume that they can afford to pay a full subscription and polite enough to send a reply whether they are interested or not but it never happened. Most kind of men on this site are either scammers, shallow, players or losers. I am not saying all of them but a great percentage.

In order to avoid Match to charge for a renewal automatically, you need to go to your settings, click on account and cancel your renewal/subscription, then remove your profile. I would suggest to delete your pictures also. It needs to be done at least 2 weeks before your subscription expires. If you paid through PayPal, delete the credit card used for Match in your account if possible. I hope my review is able to help in some way.

My credit card was still charged and when I called (a long and frustrating process of talking to people in India) I was told that the end of the subscription was on the 30th not the 31st. This is obviously playing fast and loose with the "end of the month" but that day - I lost. They did send a cancellation e-mail for 3 months later.

This time I saved the e-mail and took everything down (photo's, text,... everything!) on the 29th. On 10/31 they charged me again. In a 26 minute call, Match representatives refused to reverse the charges because I has renewed (NO I had not.). This time I called my credit card company. Take THAT Match! I used Match.com previous and had great success with excellent customer service, so when I found myself single and saw a Groupon, I decided to go back to Match and give it another go. I was not having any success on the service as the type of men I was seeing were completely different than my previous experience but did not hold that against them as it's a user based service. However I thought that I had cancelled my account only to find a charge go through in the amount of 71.92 for 3 months MORE. I immediately called Match to try to find a resolution as I had not used the SERVICES AT ALL in quite some time and I even called them the SAME DAY as the pending charge hit. I was met with no help and no customer service. I was told that it is a non-refundable service. So I disputed the charge with my bank stating that since the charge I had not used the services. So I was being charged for services I was not using.

Match has now responded to my bank with a letter saying that I had used the service over 279 times WHICH THEY FAIL to say was BEFORE the new charge and that it had been used 0 times after their second charge. They also claimed in the letter that my card had been used on that account. Again that is false. There are NO charges from Match to that card as I had purchased 3 months through GROUPON but Match FORCES you to enter card information on their system in order to even redeem the 3 months you have ALREADY purchased.

So truthfully my card had never been used BY MATCH (despite what they claim in their letter). I tried to contact the vendor again and was told that I do not qualify for a refund. So I asked, "So you mean to tell me there are accounts that do?". I was told, "Yes". SO I asked, "What is the difference between mine and one that does?". I was then informed by Match that their 6-month guarantee is the only thing that qualifies for a refund. HOWEVER since I had said that I didn't use the service and had disputed the charge, I will not qualify for that refund either.

This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced with a system that they have set up to screw you out of your hard-earned money. It doesn't matter whether you use their service or not with the charge. My suggestion to anyone who maybe has a mistake and doesn't get their account canceled in time. Keep logging in. When the 6-month Match guarantee comes up call them and tell them you didn't meet anyone of value. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, do not call and expect a resolution from honesty and good faith! Just lie and say you didn't meet anyone. Apparently it is the only way to get a fair resolution from a company that is really just out to screw the consumer

I too have had a negative experience with their auto-renewal. I originally signed up around this time last year and within a few weeks, had intended to cancel. I forgot about it until I saw the charge on my card last May. That day I deactivated my account - I received an email confirmation that my account was deactivated, but they would keep my information in case I "changed my mind". I didn't sign on again and never re-activated. NOTE: I used my workplace email when I signed up and am no longer with that company.

Lo and behold, today I found a charge on my account for $118. I called them and got the same run around everyone else has and the "resolution" representative would not forward me to her supervisor nor would give me the name of someone higher up that I could address this with. I informed that I was not satisfied with their response, but demanded that they cancel all further auto-renewals and I received an email confirmation to that effect.

Fortunately, I had the foresight to forward to my personal email the original deactivation confirmation that I received last May. I sent this to them and received this reply back: "Your recent incident update was from an email address not associated with the incident. In an effort to maintain the security of information, we cannot update the incident using this email address. If you would like to update your incident, please respond from the email address you originally used to create the incident, or contact Customer Support for further assistance." I cancelled my subscription prior to my 3-month subscription ending. I answered all the questions and asked a friend if they could still see my profile (said they could not). I then had no reason to assume that my subscription was not cancelled. All of a sudden, I get charged for another 3- month subscription, without my authorization and without my knowledge. I am furious and call them to demand my money back and for them to delete my credit card information. After being routed through 2 different people, I get told that they can only refund me $28 of the $78 they took out because they have a "no refund policy". I just hope whoever uses this site calls to cancel their membership before their credit card is charged again. I wish I would have called someone instead of thinking it was handled online.

Why do you need to hide a cancelled account? Thankfully I cancelled the card I used to sign up or I can only guess that my still active account would have been charged. Worst of all - the account showed active - as if I had logged into to. Not a fun day trying to explain this to my girlfriend. This is beyond wrong.

I cancelled my account on the website so that I would not be automatically billed at the end of 3 months. I kept using the service since I had paid for 3 months of service. After 3 months I noticed a charge on my card for another 3 months. I called the number they provide on the site for a refund. The recording said I was not eligible for a refund since I had been using the site. I called but could not get a live person on the phone. I opened a chat and told the person I had cancelled my account and wanted a refund. She said she had no record of me cancelling my account.

The following are things that are very sleazy business practices this company engages in: 1. Obviously deletes records of cancellation. 2. Provides no way to delete my credit card number on website. 3. Provides no history of customer service chat to show proof of anything. 4. Charges credit cards without authorization. These practices are quite criminal. Maybe someone will start a class action suit against them someday.

As I found out I called Match and apologized and see if I could clear it up with another card and just go back to original date. These morons tell me I have to wait 60 days WTF? 60 days are you kidding me you idiots, plenty of other dating websites I can send business to. It's little wonder why Match has terrible reviews and I thought about and getting "favored" by profiles that all of a sudden would disappear. A Match trick to the customers. I have been here before and only remember scammers trying to I'M me (same story, every time). There are a few people on that I wouldn't mind meeting, but I had trouble with them last time. Because of dissatisfaction, 3 month ago, I was cancelling my match account. While cancelling, the operator offered me to try it with a 50% off for more 3 month. I cancelled, but some days after, I got tempted to try the website once more. I accepted the offer, but instead of 50% off, I got charged for around 30% off, and no confirmation email came to me. I checked my spam even. I called and talked to a team member again and told him "after this 3 month I do not like to continue", and he assured that there will be a cancellation notice. He assured me for safety, but "Without any emails or notice for recharge or renewal", yesterday I found that I have been charged "106.99$" on credit card for more 3 month.

I recognized it after 6 days of charge and soon today I called them to get refund for money that has been charged without my consent. Unfortunately, after reasoning and talks with 2 different customer service, they just gave me 26.01$ back, and after changing their talks different times, they told this is their policy and it has been written in their subscription page. I told them that "I have verbally told your team member, and he assured me about future cancellation and even in case of mistake, he told there will be an email notice for renewal."

When today I talked to them, first they told "we have sent you an email", but when I checked again and showed them there is no confirmation or renewal email, then they just easily told: this is their policy to not to send emails or remind people after even 6 month (which is obvious for many people to forget) about recharging them. Then, they are not making refund even after 1 day. And I told them that "I even told your team member about cancellation after the last period and told him I do not want to continue with you."

One of them told me "We are in a bad situation that we cannot refund people." What does it mean? You are not cancelling people or you charge them without notice and then no refund to keep your business going because of your financial issues?! But what if something emergency happens to a person, an accident, a journey, a death, a family issue, a financial issue, anything... That make them forget to check after 6 month, and you keep charging their credit card without them knowing, and you just hesitate to even remind or give notice by email, for this high amount of money, and then no refund?! Isn't it intentionally to get forced money from people and keep them forcefully to use your website without their consent?! A website namely made for emotional communications and better life situation?!

And when I checked the review websites, I found that many people are getting charged without email notice or after cancellation and this is a way to make forced charges and abuse. Really why Match. ca or Match.com does these and even when they know human mind easily forget after months or emergency may happen. Why they charge 75% for nothing? Or without people's consent? And then they force you to use website for some more days instead to have more people in business cycle and more options for matching. Even they were going to not to refund me at all.

I cannot trust anymore to Match. ca or Match.com. It was more stressful for me than helpful. And I deactivated fast after cancellation even if I had days left from the money they charged me, to not to help them to absorb any more people by this method. Plus... I was not happy with their customer service, as they hardly replied inquiry emails and more issues like weak accuracy and mistakes, wrong discounts, no confirmation or on time cancellation emails. And I do not think with this bitter experience, I try anymore any online dating websites.

Match.com makes it incredibly difficult to get a refund when the system automatically renews the subscription. I thought I selected the option for it to not auto-renew but I learned from the Match.com representative that is not an option when it is first setup. I signed up for a few sites at the same time and so maybe I was mistaken but, for this company to create a system designed to auto-renew easily but to make it difficult to cancel points to a business practice that has caused me to write this complaint.

The idea is the auto-renew helps avoid interruptions with the account so communications can stay open with other members. If members were chatting online and the account is coming close to expiring, the system should notify them to update their account. The auto-renew concept is a disaster for so many consumers and should be approved by the customer before taking the payment. So, here's the workaround until they change that: setup the account, pay for whatever subscription and call and make sure they disable the auto-renew. Sound like a pain in the rear? Yup.

Additional charges crop up out of nowhere and before you know it, you are in for much more than you intended. Here is an example... They charged me (without my knowledge) an extra $44 so that new clients would be able to interact with me. Did I ask for it or even want it. NO! God forbid if you call someone not knowing they are no longer a member of Match as that also brings on a additional charge.

So... they overbill you constantly, but what about the people. The first lady I met had lied about her age by 10 years! The second was actually no longer a paid member but she operated on the site anyway. Of course, being new, I did not know. Somehow Match billed me over $50 for "phone calls" I made to this past member. They third lady I met turned out to by a full-fledged psycho who was afraid I was going to kill her and leave her body in the bushes!!!!!! Might sound funny but not when it happens to you.

This program is a complete farce and I sincerely hope that some agency with regulatory authority shuts them down ASAP. Clearly, a class-action lawsuit would be in order. Finally, I had the same exact experience in requesting a refund on some of my "additional, hidden charges"... But they simply refused to even discuss it. I am a current subscriber who is just waiting for my subscription to end. I followed the directions to cancel my subscription (by their rules) and it has been canceled. I am a man and I did meet quite a few nice women on this site. I went on mostly first dates, in some cases two. No complaints here, I could not have met these women otherwise. I gave them a single star because Match.com (and other dating sites) blur the lines and distinction between reality and entertainment. The reality is there are not that many singles in a members area (at least as subscribers) but the entertainment a member is mislead into thinking there is. I will give this blurred area a name. Let's call it a "problem" for simplicity sake. A word we can all relate to.

Most problems can be resolved when the subscriber reads the terms of use that were blindly agreed to (like me) in your (my) advertising driven euphoria to meet the match of your (my) dreams. The problem is most subscribers (like me) never bother to read the terms of use for Match.com or for that matter any purchase. If your subscription has not expired you can cancel the billings in PayPal or AppleID. Otherwise you will need to cancel and reissue the credit or debit card that the service is being charged to. In either scenario you will still be billed for the full period. Be wary that the website is a personal release contract and you have signed over the legal rights for Match.com to do whatever they wish with your photos and profiles.

Don't believe me? Those subscribers (like me) who did not read the fine print it states (sic): If you cancel a subscription, you will enjoy subscription benefits until the end of your then-current subscription commitment, following which your subscription benefits will expire. However, in no event will you be eligible for a refund of any portion of the subscription fees paid for the then-current subscription commitment. If you paid for your subscription using a multi-payment option, you must make all payments even if you cancel your subscription prior to the end of your then existing subscription commitment period.

Don't believe me when I say it's a personal release contract? Terms of use states (sic): By posting Content on the Website or as part of the Service, you automatically grant to the Company, its affiliates, licensees and successors, an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully paid-up, worldwide right and license to (i) use, copy, store, perform, display, reproduce, record, play, adapt, modify and distribute the Content, (ii) prepare derivative works of the Content or incorporate the Content into other works... those that don't feel like reaching for a legal dictionary, Match.com can use your pictures for whatever it sees fit to use for, providing the use does not violate federal and/or state civil rights acts or uses your likeness for unlawful behavior.

As far as bogus emails, duplicated members or just plain 'ole non-existent members, the terms of use states (sic): From time to time, employees of the Company (or its parent or affiliated companies) may create test dating profiles for the purpose of testing the functionality of our Service and website processes to improve service quality for our Members. Oh this includes emails too. So if you didn't read the TOU (like me) bogus emails of non-existent members to entice you to use the service is fair game. There is not definition of "time to time" in the TOU which seems to be every time you log on as a member. Example: I logged on and did my usual scrolling through the "matches" when I realized familiar faces kept popping up. Then I realized they were the same faces with different screen names and profiles. It's just the way the company runs the business that you agreed to (like me) without reading the terms of use.

Did you wonder why in the first few weeks of your subscription you seemed to get endless hits of possible matches with few responses? See above and fill in the blanks yourself. Ever wonder why that drop dead gorgeous (or handsome) match in the next town doesn't respond? Change the geographical search parameters and the same "match" will show up with a different name in a different part of the country. Ever wonder why that drop dead gorgeous (or handsome) match the DID respond initially DID NOT respond to your second response? It's an "auto response" which is just the way it works and it's in the TOU. It's in the best interest of the company to "match" you in less than 90 days because unless your head has been in the proverbial sand (like me) you won't figure it out until it's too late, which is after you've been billed again.

Don't believe it? Read the TOU fine print which states in really big bold letters: The company does not represent or warrant that the website or service will be uninterrupted or error-free, SECURE OR THAT ANY DEFECTS OR ERRORS ON THE WEBSITE OR IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED. Oh and also (sic): In addition to the preceding paragraph and other provisions of this Agreement, any advice that may be posted on the Website or through the Service is for informational and entertainment purposes only. Match.com and other dating sites stretch the legal meaning of entertainment as far as they possibly can.

If this bothers you and you want to take legal action (like me) NOPE. Tough cookies. Read the terms of use which states (sic) By using the Website or the Service in any manner, you agree to the above arbitration agreement. In doing so, you give up your right to go to court to assert or defend any claims between you and the Company (except for matters that may be taken to small-claims court). You also give up your right to participate in a class action or other class proceeding. Your rights will be determined by a NEUTRAL ARBITRATOR, NOT A JUDGE OR JURY.

So with the above in mind, buyer beware. From my experiences with this site (and others) heed to the below advice: If the profile and picture is too good to be true, it is (example: a profile that is not what you are looking for but rather what you dream about and couldn't possibly exist). Guess what? It doesn't. See the TOU concerning use for "entertainment" only. If the profile doesn't match the age then it is bogus (example - 42 year old women that "want" children). If the profile is written in a language that today's teen would understand then it is bogus (LOL, etc). Profiles that contain more than 10 photos, and of those photos, most are with provocative clothing or wearing an NFL shirt proclaiming their love of football... yep, it's bogus.

Profiles that contain "selfie" photos where the person is flirtatiously looking away from the camera in a soft light with blurry background leaving you wondering why your "selfies" don't come out that good. It's because it's not a selfie, it's a person that does not exist (at least as a subscriber on Match.com). Profiles that provide no other information besides, "I'll tell you later," which if they did, it would be Match.com just sent your email to a spammer (probably a ** spammer) and since their disclaimer is not responsible for third parties, you better hope that they didn't just give away more than your email address.

Profiles that show you "winked" at them and you were pretty sure you didn't. Don't respond. Really. Notifications that a profile "read" your response and will email you "later" because they are busy (and of course busy with some activity or job that you are interested in). Umm "later" never comes but Match.com did get you to return to the site over and over again in hopes for a response, and because you went back 10 times in hopes of a response from the match of your dreams (who doesn't exist) they can report to advertisers that this type of person visits the site 10x weekly rather than 2x weekly. Buyer beware!!

I have been on Match for at least a year and when I signed up there was a guarantee that if you didn't find someone they would give you a second 6 months free. The first time I did it they did not give me the 6 months. This is the second time, no warning another renewal due. Don't get me wrong I am not picky but simply have not found the right girl. Anyhow, they don't give you warning or notice of anything other than your renewal is due and you cannot access anything. So I went to get the free 6 month deal. It's a scam. You have to make note that you want the free 6 month a week before renewal, that's it you're done.

I am not sure if I received a cancellation email, but I did get a cancellation survey AND filled it out complaining that I would not renew because their "algorithm" kept matching me with much older men, outside of my requirements (25 year age gap with nothing in common).

Customer service was horrible: I sent an email outside of business hours and a robot responded with a response completely unrelated to my request. Upon further reading of this automated email, I found that unless I reached out to them again no one would call me back. I called them the following day (afternoon Eastern) after I still had not heard back from my initial request. I explained my issue and the customer service representative put me on hold and then hung up on me, never to call me back.

I dialed back in and spent over an hour explaining my issue with the representative, escalated my complaint to a manager. Ultimately, their customer service reps are not able to provide refunds or offer any help outside of the self-serve IVR for a refund. Pointless waiting on hold. Although my profile was hidden, all the photos were removed, and there was no information listed in my profile they still said my account was "active" because someone messaged me, unbeknownst to me.

I noticed there were many seemingly fake accounts on the site - so if you do purchase this subscription be sure to remove all your information or they will continue promoting it as an active profile. I would advise to NOT purchase services from them for dishonest billing practices. I am currently pursuing fraudulent charges through my bank due to unfair business practices. I subscribed to Match last year. After cancelling my 3 month renewal I continued to get emails constantly. As I wanted to stop the emails and deactivate my account all together I went into Match and at the button you can click on unsubscribe which I did. It took me onto another page, I clicked on the button which I thought was unsubscribe but realized too late that it was the subscribe button. My immediately charged my Visa for another 3 months. So I immediately went into my account, into the cancel page and under the comments indicated the problem and what I had done. I checked my visa online everyday for the first 4 days and saw that I was not charged, but up until the end of the week I see my Visa was in fact charged an amount of $97.62.

I contacted Match and they said there wasn't anything they can do. I responded that I wrote a note in the comment section saying it was a error on my part and that I would like a refund as I was trying to deactivate the account all together. I asked the women "why do you have a comment section if you don't read it or respond to it." She answered, "We're sorry, not much we can do". So there's no room for forgiveness for mistakes... I recently got this from Match.com: "We were recently made aware that you sent excessive unwanted communications to another Match member, which violates our Terms of Use agreement. Therefore, your account has been terminated." On one hand, the way this termination was done, frankly, is Stalinesque. I am not allowed to know my crime! I am only allowed to know that there has been an accusation. The prosecutor accepts the accusation, and is also the judge, and also carries out the termination. There is no justice where there is no finding of fact.

On the one hand, it is probably time I got away from Match and got my head into a better way to meet a mate. Match is expensive and has consumed a colossal amount of time, for very little result. I've sent ~5500 emails, resulting in about ~550 replies, leading to six dates, including the two who stood me up. In my analysis, part of the problem is my small-town location, few local members, very few I would consider dating. (The long-distance thing makes little sense.)

Calvin Coolidge had a saying "Determination and Persistence alone are omnipotent." The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. I have boundless energy to find a mate. When I see someone attractive, I send a note. I favorited about a couple dozen girls. From conversations, I know that even marginally attractive girls are overwhelmed with responses. I would imagine that I need to be on the front page in the girls inbox to have a shot at getting a reply on any given day. That would generally require at least a note every day or two.

I have an idea. When I am looking at a page showing a member of interest, why not allow her to indicate her interest via a stoplight system, where there could be a flashing yellow light (default), a green light (go ahead and write), or a red light (not interested). It yields me zero benefit to write to girls who are not interested. But if they never indicate that they aren't interested, how am I to know? Failing to write back is not a good proxy of disinterest, as simply being busy yields an indistinguishable result. My present opinion is that Match.com was a total waste of time and effort and money. Further, my membership (my money) was terminated (was taken) in an abusive act against me by Match. I would tell anyone not to waste their time. The site is riddled with fake and inactive profiles.

I unsubscribed with the directions stated on their site. They did not unsubscribed and while I thought I was they charged me 3 different times. I unsubscribed with the directions stated on their site back in February 2016. I received and email on 2/27/2016 (which I still have) stating they could not renew my plan. It states this: Don't let things end here. Your card ending in ** didn't go through. Right now, you can't chat, email or see who's reviewed you. Pick a plan and enter your new payment info to get your benefits back. It has a big button that states RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION.

I assumed that was what happens when I unsubscribe. I received no emails of any sort from them after that email in February. In September 2016 I noticed I was charged that month. I looked back on my credit card statements and they charged me in March and June too for a total of 233.91. When I went on the site and started my investigation on why I was getting charged I noticed that I wasn't unsubscribed even though I went in and did as they stated. I unsubscribed again and gathered information to call them.

I noticed when I went in that time I started getting emails from them again. There is a lapse between February to September in email alerts for potential matches. When I called they said there was nothing showing that I unsubscribed in February nor when I unsubscribed in September. I have a screen shot for September. They said the bank provided them the information they needed (even though the email provided states they couldn't renew without my help) and they said they were only authorized to refund me a little over 20 dollars.

Do not sign up for this service! I only got fake emails from members and couldn't find anyone in my area. They obviously were trying to hide that I was still signed up since I didn't receive any emails between the time I got the email in February to the time I notice I was getting charged in September. I reported all of this to the BBB in hopes that no one else gets caught up in what happened to me and that I get the full refund I deserve.

From there, I figured I had done all that needed to be done to ensure a timely cancellation. Well on 9/27 I got an e-mail receipt for a PayPal charge to Match.com for a subscription renewal of $59.95 to my surprise. I went to the site and saw that my subscription had not been cancelled, so I immediately cancelled AGAIN and called customer service. I spoke to the first person and escalated the call twice and was told by each person that I did not cancel the subscription on time and it auto renewed.

I explained the story of my cancellation on 9/25 and each time they acted like they did not hear that and used the fact against me that I RE-CANCELLED on 9/28, after noticing the charge. Making it seem as if I were lying and I did not cancel on time. They told me since I did not receive a confirmation e-mail they did not believe me. They offered me a partial refund of $23 and would not work with me in any way, given that I had already cancelled as far as I knew. Each person was like a rude robot who did not listen at all and just continuously quoted a line and placed blame on me. Each time I asked for a manager I was told that they would tell me nothing different and placed on hold forever, as the employees likely got together to conspire not to assist me any further than the unacceptable refund that was offered.

I don't believe I ever was transferred to a manager as requested. Seemed like employees were passing around the phone and I could also hear laughing in the background as if I were on speaker and they were getting a kick out of being rude and unhelpful. Very sad and very poor customer service. Great way to lose a returning customer. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I managed to track down a Match phone number (not one in the US, but one answered in the Philippines) and I spoke with Michael, a supervisor, this morning, and asked him if one leaves Match are the profiles also removed? (No.)

Are the profiles then used as 'bait' causing active members to believe that the (non) members are available to them? (Yes.) Are the profiles 'gamed' so it would appear that a person is active (i.e., active within 24 hours) when, in fact, that person is no longer on Match.com? (Yes.) Is Match aware that this is, at the very least, disingenuous and well and downright deceptive? (Yes.) Michael freely admitted that this practice is rampant and continuous and is covered in 'terms and conditions'. So... there you have it... Match.com is (also) a scam site. Well, easier said than done.

Near the end of the 3rd month, I tried to cancel but couldn't figure it out. I had to google it, because it wasn't anywhere that I could see. By this time, the card I had given Match to sign up had fraud on it, so my bank cancelled it. I remembered that they had my old card so when I couldn't figure out how to cancel, I didn't worry because my card was not good. By the time I figured out how to do it, it was too late. Anyway, next to the bank charge was the phone number. Oh finally, a phone number. There's not one to be found on the website. I called them first thing the next morning and some guy answered, sounded like a call center in India and basically he told me too bad, that I didn't cancel in time. He went on to say that as a courtesy, they will refund $26. I wanted a supervisor so he put me on hold and I waited 40 min and she wouldn't give my money back either. Terrible customer service! It's not like I bought something and I used it and was then trying to keep it and still get a refund! I did not want to be a member anymore, not now or in the future and that's what they charged me for, the future. So why wouldn't they just refund it? That would be good customer service. We talked, via email, back and forth for several days. I saw my month was going to be up on Thursday, so I decided I would just do an extra month to see where things would go. She emailed me in the morning Thursday. I renewed in the afternoon. I never heard from her again. I emailed her - no response.

And she wasn't the only one. I had another girl, who I was interested in (who also didn't seem to be one of the false accounts). We exchanged winks and I sent an email. As of that same Thursday, I never heard from her again either. Yes, this could all be coincidence, but it just seemed to me to be too much of a coincidence. I cancelled my subscription within the next week. The truth is, you can't tell what is real on these sites. And if Match is behind this fraud, they are preying upon people who have been through a lot and are using the site out of hope. I can't think of anything more awful than that.

Secondly, 50% of the profiles on there are scammers from Nigeria and Russia. I was fooled so many times and have many friends that have been fooled. I reported those fake users many times but they are still on their sites. Once you delete your account they keep your profile up so they can pretend they have a lot more users than they do, especially if you're desirable. Stay away, go to any other site that is free and you will not be scammed and you will find much better matches.

I signed up for Match.com in the winter of 2015. I used it briefly then forgot I had the account. About a year and a half later, I was looking at my credit card statement and saw an odd charge for a dating service. I logged online to my credit card account manager and filed a dispute for only the current charge, although I did see charges every quarter for the year and half. I then logged into Match.com and saw that I actually did have a full profile, so I actually started emailing a few ladies. That was a bad idea because I had disputed the item and that in itself gave Match.com the defense that I was actively using the account and the dispute was reversed. Even though the usage was limited to a week or two out of a 16 month (or so) period. Anyways, I was totally fine with that and wanted to try my best to find a lady since my brother actually had luck finding ladies on the site.

I attempted to log onto the site, and although I had been paying for a year and a half, I called it as a loss, and wanted to try again. I found out that my account was blocked so I called customer service. The rep said that since I disputed the charge, they would have to conduct an investigation and that it would take 60 days. Since the charge was paid and the subscription was for 90 days, I had explained to the rep that the account being blocked for 60 days is unacceptable and I expect to receive services since I paid for it in full. The rep said she didn't care and that was that. I asked her to speak to a manager and she said that they don't have any managers and that she was the only point of contact. I told her that I would not get off the phone until she was willing to negotiate or transfer me to a manager and she said fine and refused to budge. We literally waited on the phone for an hour with silence. It was so ridiculous.

She stated that I was basically beat for my money by saying that I would have to wait out the 60 days. I told her that I would not hang up and that she could hang up on me if she so choose. Eventually after an hour I gave up and hung up. 60 days later, I attempted to log on and guess what. Yep, they never unlocked the account and it was all bull from the beginning. All in all, I would have liked to maintain my relationship with Match. I would have taken the subscription fees for the previous year as a loss and would have continued to use the service. Instead of working with me for continued business, they took the $121 and did whatever they could to act shady, untruthful, and deceitful. I honestly don't understand how terrible their response was to the entire situation.

I used Match.com for many years but needed to cancel because my job relocated more than 50 miles away. I was selling my house and moving so I couldn't date during major life upheaval. I asked Match.com to cancel when the charge appeared on my bill. Match provided six days of service but charged me for the full six months or $156.71. My bank tried twice to get a partial refund. Match refused. I was appalled that Match was uncooperative with a long term paying customer who canceled because of a life change. If Match had been nice and refunded some money, then I would use Match again. Match would not allow me to use the service for the remaining five months and three weeks of the contract and would not issue a refund.

I will never use Match again. Instead I use Tinder for free and am happy with Tinder. I would encourage people to use Tinder for free and terminate Match. The bank said that calling in a credit card as lost will stop any recurring charges. So call your credit card in lost and kiss Match goodbye!!! People have horror stories about Match billing after the person cancels with Match. Cancel with Match and call your credit card in as lost so Match can never bill you again. Big kiss goodbye Match!!! I am so glad that we have broken up!!!

Match.com has been a complete waste of my time and money. I just received an email from them informing me that my account has been deleted because they were "recently made aware that you sent excessive unwanted to another Match member, which violates our Terms of Use agreement." Oh, and because it violates their terms of use "a refund of any unused subscription fees will not be issued." They can't tell me any specifics unless I obtain a subpoena against them... and I apparently don't get to offer any explanation or defense of myself for my own part.

First of all, if a member did not wish to receive any further messages from me, all they would have had to do was say so. Nobody said so. Second of all, if they didn't want to trouble themselves to say so, with a simple click, they have the option to have Match send an automated email stating that they appreciate the interest but the interest is not mutual. Third, I'm fairly certain the site has an option to allow a member to block another member to prevent them from viewing his/her profile or sending any more messages.

That's three options. But no... Somebody complains and they pull the plug and keep your money without giving you any chance to make your own case... and without any warning whatsoever. Apparently without any recourse whatsoever either. I can't seem to find a valid customer service number and I tried to submit an email to them but it wouldn't send.

I had issues with photos not uploading (duplicates or the wrong photo) and I repeatedly received false alerts from Match informing me that 'so and so' had just made me one of their favorites. When I would go to check out 'so and so's' profile it would say "Oops... The profile you are looking for does not exist. But try these instead."

I never used crude or vulgar language in any message I sent. I was always respectful and polite in any correspondence with any member. I certainly would not harass someone who I knew did not wish to hear from me. But apparently Match does not bother to point out the other three available options I mentioned to the complaining party before they terminate your account... Even after months of being a loyal paying subscriber. As I said... Waste of time. Waste of money. I would not only not recommend them... I would recommend strongly against them.

They told me that a 72 hour promo doesn't exist. I complained and only got it reduced to one month instead of three because they say I sent a message to someone but someone messaged me. With the 30 days of Match and only received 2 messages from women. The first one, as I stated earlier, was within hours paying causing the free promotion to be invalid. The second was right before my 30 days expired.

During that time I sent a total of 32 messages to other women, received 2 winks, and 1 interested. On day 31 of my 30 day subscription I received 88 interested, 5 new winks (3 of which were old deleted accounts), and 3 messages. Why would all 88 women show interest in me on the same day? Why are deleted profiles showing up again? Why didn't any of the 32 women I messaged reply?

Bots! I believe they keep closed accounts and use them in other areas to pose as active accounts. I believe other accounts are used by their staff to send messages to others who are new members, expiring members, or non members to lure them into a paid subscription. Also, for what is offered for the price it is way too expensive. On top of that there are other pointless overpriced items to purchase as well. I couldn't tell you how many are real accounts and fake accounts but it's depressing to think about how they exploit singles that way. Match.com itself is the scam.

Then, about a week before I cancelled the subscription, my account was blended with another man's account from Los Angeles. His pictures and essays took over mine. Over the 3 months, I probably received 6 'likes'. Then the day after I cancelled I received 7 likes and I think even a couple emails (but I'm not sure). First off, I don't even want to give it one star. I had made a free profile and received notification that over 20 men were interested. It didn't say, "They visited your profile." It specifically said, "These profiles are interested in you!" One of them was someone I actually knew through a friend of a friend. So I subscribed. Turns out that he, nor any of the other profiles had actually indicated interest. Most of them had not even visited my profile. In addition, upon subscribing, which I had done less than 24 hours after I created the free profile, I received notification that I had "liked" over a dozen men that I had never even seen their profiles and would not have even clicked on their picture. This included men who had guns and rifles in their main profile pictures as well as confederate flags, crude language, and just generally scary-looking and disturbing profiles.

I emailed Match right away and told them of my experience and concern. No response. Another day goes by and I get another batch of pictures with the tag in the corner, "You Liked Him!" and there is no way I would have ever clicked on their profiles. I chatted with Match and requested a refund. They refused and ignored my concerns about safety, and argued with me over their deception by saying men were interested to bait me into subscribing. I canceled my subscription on the 3rd day even though it is now paid through until mid-November. I had the subscription 3-4 days total, and I got an email from a creepy-looking guy who said, "Thanks for checking out my profile. Would you like to get to each other better?" I did not ever click on him or look at anything.

At that point, I chatted with Match again and told them to disable my profile completely, and reiterated my concerns, to which the agent said she was sorry, but made no effort to address my concerns, or refund my money. This has been a nightmare, as if online dating for women isn't scary enough. They should be shut down for putting women at risk. Scammers and not real people looking for a relationship but instead working from call centers in Nigeria preying on single lonely people. Most are widows, or military and majority are from Texas. I met all of the requirements for 2nd 6 months free but still without notice my credit card was charged $119 to renew my membership. When I called to dispute this I got a barely able to speak English woman who told me basically, "Too bad you didn't click the do not automatically renew button" (like I was supposed to know this is hidden in their account settings).

This is how they get rich by not letting you choose to renew but them forcing you to. My account was also hacked and my pictures and profile were used except they were in another state, they were using me to scam others. The craziest thing is when I was told by a guy on Match that I was fake cause he saw me in another state, I went to it and was able to log into it with my id and password. When I tried contacting Match about this I got absolutely no response. Save your money and your time. There are free sites with the same type of stuff going on but at least you aren't paying to get ripped off.

Lots of people join Match.com because they advertise on TV, so it must be good, right?? WRONG!!! I could not believe the calibre of men who were 'contacting' me, nothing like the age group I'd requested, absolutely nothing in common and quite often not even in the same country!!! Why ask all those damn questions and STILL get it all wrong. Half the App doesn't work on an iPhone. I decided after 1 WEEK this site wasn't for me, even though I've paid a three-month subscription. So, I tried to contact Match, easier to knit fog!!!

Had to log in on my works PC in order to cancel the automatic subscription. They said they would send me an email confirming this, they never did! But, I have printed off the screenshot saying my sub has been cancelled on the Match website. I have also spoken to Paypal, got a reference number and blocked any future withdrawals from Match. When subscription is over, I will be sure to go in and physically delete my own profile. Something really needs to be done about these Automatic Subscriptions!!!

Match.com has a 6 month guarantee and if you follow their policies they will extend your membership for an additional 6 months. They refused to grant my extension because it took me 5 days to post photos on my account. I was missing a primary photo for the first 5 days of my 6 month period so they refused to extend my membership. What a bunch of b.s. I will never use them again and highly recommend against signing up due to their poor customer service practices.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this particular dating/introduction website, and I'd like to add my two-cents' worth. As an actor, I have many photos on actor database websites. These are frequently used by online scammers when they set up their bogus profiles on this and numerous other such websites. I was informed by someone in the States this morning, in fact, that her friend had been duped into contacting one of these lowlifes via match.com, and said scammer had used one of my photos from the Starnow.com website.

It's a constant battle to keep up with these cons, and I often hear from friends AND victims (or concerned members of their families), alerting me to yet another misuse of one of my images. Some even abuse ME, assuming that I am somehow a part of the rip-off. I have been threatened with Federal Police/FBI action in the past, and it's often hard to convince these poor ladies that I am actually being used, just as they are. A good protocol for ANYone considering contacting a person on match.com or any other similar website, is to run a Google image search of any photo that's included in the profile. More often than not, they'll find the photo belongs to a totally different individual from the one who has set up the profile.

I signed up for their "Free 30 day trial." However, they charged my credit card and renewed my subscription for 90 days. During my free trial I was contacted by someone with a completely fake profile. Name was fake, PhD was fake, likely the photos were as well. This guy had 4 cell phones, and when I inquired about them he just got nasty. When I told him I did not want him contacting me anymore he got very ugly & profane. The rest of the losers they matched me with did not even meet what I asked for, or what I said were "deal breakers." The few decent ones didn't bother to reply. Likely fake as well.

Match.com is the most fraudulent company I have ever had dealings with. Not only do they have fake accounts to lure people in but they also make up rules for dealing with your account. They have charged me for 3 additional months despite the fact that I have cancelled my membership. They claim that I used the email feature but haven't used that particular feature for more than 4 months. Do not use this company!

Do not look for love on match.com. The site is simply out to take your money. It's hard to find someone, let alone talk to someone, on their site yet they will keep taking your money without the smallest notification. One email notification would suffice but they expect you to go through your settings to see that they are about to bill you. On top of not finding someone, like they guarantee, they make it difficult to cancel also. Don't waste your time or your hard earn money, because they don't deserve it!!!

I've been with Match off and on for a few years now, but I will be leaving as soon as my latest subscription ends. Each time I've renewed my subscription, I always remember to cancel automatic renewal, and now (after being caught out before), I keep their confirmation email. However, even this month, 3 times I've checked and it had been renewed by them. Once before I assumed because I'd checked it and even (yet again) cancelled, they still took the money, and I had to contact PayPal, to get a refund. They refunded me right away, which makes me think they are used to this complaint. I've emailed Match several times, and while they do 'respond', it does not answer what I've said. It merely confirms that I have indeed 'cancelled my subscription'. I already know that!

I feel strongly that there should be an investigation into these practices, as they must be stealing (and it is stealing), money from an awful lot of people. Also they are quite happy to let the Nigerian (or otherwise), scammers on their site, as they pay for all the other extras (connect etc). I report scammers on a regular basis, so if I can spot them at a glance, so can they, but of course they are happy to take their money as well. They offer no protection for the users other than the almost obligatory 'safety in dating' suggestions. I hope people stop using them.

After being hacked on my Match.com account, I contacted Match.com support to help me recall the emails that the malware sent out to people who had contacted me and to others (women) that I had never had any contact. Additionally, I was hoping the company had a warning email letting these people know the potential threat and that they should change their password for security, thus reducing the continued spread of this threat. I was told by both customer service and the resolutions desk "Change your password, there is nothing else we can do!" I requested to speak to a supervisor numerous times and was told there was none around and by the second person I was told they were busy but they would call back. They did call back while I was on an actual work conference call and they closed early.

After Match's lack of response, I went in and sent each person an individual warning them not to open my email and to change their password. WHY did I have to do that as a paying subscriber of Match??? When out of frustration I said I wanted to close my account they proceed to tell me why I could not have a refund because of not finding a match. I had never said anything about not finding a match. My only issues were technical! Extremely frustrating customer service by a company that obviously does not care about their customers!

For my own reasons, I went on as a new person. I opted not to subscribe (free apparently) & now I am the victim of countless emails. At least 7-10 per day. This is ridiculous. I unsubscribed but was cautioned I would be emailed for date purposes. Tomato, tomato. I will be trying to find out how to get rid of email altogether. Maybe not but how to block them at least. Don't they know that they alienated a possible sale if this relationship hits the skids?

You do not get replies from even 10% of the messages you send out and most of the profiles are fake just to lure people into subscribing. Beware of this scam as no action is too low or immoral for them to take to cheat innocent people out of money.

I can affirm what others have said, Match is a horrible company to deal with. Once they take your money, make it almost impossible to contact them and to cancel. If they have your credit card on file, watch out. They will keep charging you! Furthermore, the searches are not easily filtered so you get tons of people from all over even if you say you only want local matches. And you can meet a bunch of 40 something losers who live with mommy. Yeah that's attractive (sarcasm). I spent the money thinking I'd meet a better class of people than those free web dating sites. Not true at all. Expensive lesson, posers, serial daters and losers. I'd rather die alone!

These people at Match.com ought to be stood up against a wall and shot! I was subject to the automatic renewal junk they foist off on you, the innocent subject. They automatically defaulted to a 6 month subscription that I didn't see. I only wanted a one month trial to "test the waters." I then found out how mercenary & predatory these jerks are. They graciously refunded 3 months of my six months fee. Whoopee spit! I was unable to upload any photos which just about kills a subscription. I tried several times and complained to their "Tech Support" about the issue. All I got (twice) was form letters telling me how I had to go about getting a new subscription. That's all they seem to be interested in, is getting you to sign up for extended periods and keeping your automatic subscription renewal in place.

My advice to you is to avoid these jerks like the plague or AIDS. Do not repeat: DO NOT ever use this site and for Christ sake, if you are dumb or naive enough, do not let them automatically renew your subscription. I wish I'd have read this "review feature" offered and have known about their shady tactics before signing up. It sure as hell isn't the nice BS as shown in the TV commercials... it's pure greed and sleazy. Then in a case like mine, they send me offshore (I believe) to some foreign agent to get some resolution via their "Customer Service." What a pathetic joke that is!

Watch out for these sharks... all they're out to get is your credit card number. Read most all these reports... there is a common thread running through them. I'm also writing the BBB, the Gov't at Federal Trade Commission and the FCC who is responsible for electronic communications. I may even write my state senator, for all the good that'll do. Very unhappy in Central Oregon.

I have sent several emails to resolve a problem but he does not want to help. This is the General Report [Incident: **]. I would like a supervisor to review this matter and get back to me."

The incident involved an email I received from them saying they were "aware of inappropriate correspondence sent to another Match member, which violates our Terms of Use agreement." They also said that "if this type of correspondence continues, we will be forced to terminate your Match membership." I checked the Terms of Use agreement and I have not violated any of them. In an effort to avoid termination, I asked which Terms of Use they thought I violated. They replied that they wouldn't tell me which Terms of Use I violated. "Due to our privacy practices, we cannot disclose specifics about any Match account, including your own." This is crazy talk. A specific Term of Use is not a specific to my account. I wish to discuss this matter with your supervisor."

Don't waste your money on memberships. Before I purchased a membership, I was receiving multiple notifications that I couldn't view because I didn't have a membership. So, I purchased one. That's when the notifications stopped. My membership just expired on July 31st. In the last three days since my membership expired, I have received more notifications than when my membership was active. Of course, I no longer can view these notifications unless I purchase a new membership. As part of my membership, I paid for the email read notification so you can tell when someone you sent an email to has read it. I sent ten emails to local members and did not get one notification of an email read even though the system showed that those members were actively on the site. Sound like a scam to you because it sounds like one to me.

I wish I could make the Earth go back in time like Superman did, and I would NEVER have signed up for Match. Against my better judgment, I did. And that little voice inside of me said "don't do it!" But I was coerced by a friend who swore to me she was having success. Well I guess it depends on the type of "success" you seek. If you seek a one night stand, then have at it. If you want to send nude pics to each other, and have phone sex, then you'll meet your match for sure. There are no serious, relationship seeking men on this site, and I believe that most profiles are fictitious. I believe the whole thing is a scam.

They take your money and give you poor service, nothing like what they advertise. The "matches" they send you daily are below average, repetitive, and mortifying. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yeah yeah, I know that, but come on. What a joke. They show you their "attractive" profiles PRIOR to you signing up and becoming a paid subscriber. Once you've actually paid, they disappear. Loser city is what you see at that point. I'm praying to the Gods that someone will initiate a Class Action lawsuit against this company and put it out of business. Where do I sign??? How pathetic to take advantage of people and their hopes and dreams of finding real love. Scamming them in their vulnerability.

Everyone in the world should just stop online dating period and put them all out of business. Let's go back to getting out and meeting people. Or setting friends up with friends. Or meeting people at church, the grocery store, etc. etc. These online websites are robbing people blind. I was so disgusted after reading many of the reviews on here about this hell-site. I wish I had come upon it before I joined. But! I definitely won't have the issue many have had. I may have lost my signing up money for the subscription I paid for, but whatever. I knew what I was getting into. I guess I took one for the team. But I'll be darned if they auto renew anything on me.

I signed up with a credit card - I really didn't care much about, I've called the credit card company for a replacement/must be lost, and I have a whole new card with a whole new account number. So good luck with that **. Good luck trying to auto-renew on me and charge my card. Not happening. Not in this lifetime. Thank you Consumer Affairs for informing the world of these no good businesses.

It seems I am not alone in being suckered into joining Match.com. I have been on a little over a week. To this point I have sent close to 100 emails out to "ladies" I may be interested in. To this point, I have had two replies; that is pretty poor odds. Of those 100, close to 40% haven't been read yet. Another little tidbit for guys, I get probably 8-10 winks/likes/favorites a day from very good looking 25-35 y/o women, I am 57. What young hottie is interested in someone twice their age? Most often those profiles are closed or "not available" when you click on them. I actually chatted with a couple of them early on, the telltale sign of poor grammar shows up fairly soon, and you know they are surfing for something.

Laugh, I noticed today that there were two different profiles for the same woman/picture. I emailed one saying "are both bogus" and it was promptly shut off. I emailed the other, may the woman doesn't know she is being scammed. The long and the short of it, guys; don't waste your money. I am sure many of us twerps who signed up for Match has seen a lot of the same stuff. I am not an ugly guy, have a good job, have lots of fun hobbies and all I can count on is less than 2% of my emails will be answered; this shouts fakery and fraud. I know, many of you will call me a fool and it is warranted. Hopefully others will read this before they pay any money and try to honestly find a woman interested in them.
