I signed up for their premium membership and it was a complete waste of money. If you are out of stars to use on the recommended, and you do put more, those candidates disappear and do not reappear in the normal search. I also kept getting people who lived way out of my specified distance and those that should have not populated based on my preferences. There is also no customer service to complain to or get support. Don’t waste your money.

I purchased a silver membership for 3 months. Then discovered that you can't access very much with it. So I upgraded to the platinum membership. They promised to refund the different between the two levels. They charged my credit card for both memberships and then did not issue me any refund. I contacted them 3 times over a period of a month to which they replied "our records show that your refund was processed". So I contacted my credit card company. They confirmed that no refund had ever been issued, and launched a dispute. The next day they banned me from the site for "not following their code". I asked what that meant and they said because I of the dispute from the credit card company. So I've lost my membership and can't access the site to cancel my card either.

They send repeatedly the same replies over and over again. I fill in all the questions to identify myself and then back comes the same request for the same answers several times a day. If you click around enough there is a page you can print and mail to get a refund within 3 business days. It gets mailed to a PO box and they suggest certified or registered mail. If it's a PO box no one signs. Money grab and scammers looking for targets.

I feel this site just uses a lot of old pictures & profiles to lure you in, managed by Match.com to give you false hope and take your MONEY! I received messages from what I thought were real people and had some good conversations only to have them deleted by Match.com. One, Match said it was a fraudulent person... but the others, just disappeared completely off Match.com in the middle of the long conversations, especially when the other person wanted to connect by Zoom/phone. Seemed very planted and suspicious! I also saw profiles that said they were deleting their membership in Dec. 2023, etc... What are these profiles still doing on Match.com in 2025?

After a few days communicating thru the site with some women we made the transition to email or text. More picture were shared by them often using children to bolster their stories. Sick individuals! One person used a photo with a severely handicapped child. Everyone that I had communication with I was able to determine they were fake fairly quickly. Was never in communication with a legit user. I contacted Match multiple times regarding being “banned for violating Terms of Use or Guidelines” due to a “dispute” I initiated with my bank. The “dispute” was simply the result of my needing to contact my bank after Match.com renewed my subscription for an additional year and charged me for the same without my consent. I reached out to Match Customer Care on four separate occasions. Despite my repeated efforts to resolve the matter directly with Match, I received only auto-responses that did not address the issue or acknowledge the unauthorized billing. Due to the complete lack of meaningful response, I had no choice but to escalate the matter to my bank. If choosing not to renew a subscription now constitutes a “violation of terms of service,” then such terms are deeply questionable and potentially unlawful.

I contacted customer support to see if there was a glitch and the response I got back was that I had been banned and they sent a link with their guidelines. I read them and nowhere can I find something that I did wrong. I replied back to their email and asked if they could clarify exactly what guidelines I didn't follow as I just joined, didn't even get to finish setting up a profile, nor did I interact with any other members.
I got a response back that said "Our records show that our team has already reviewed your appeal, and this decision is final. Match.com is a bot and scammer paradise with few legitimate options. Avoid this site at all costs. The limitations placed on even paying customers can only be described as absurd, and the customer service is wholly unreliable. My personal experience is that I was several times accused of putting contact information in my bio or pics. That is simply not true. At no point did I put anything which could possibly have been misconstrued as contact information. Yet, upon "review," they claimed their original complaint was true and correct, which is impossible, which means one of two things. Either the people doing the reviewing are legitimately stupid and or blind, or they are lying about reviewing it at all. Frankly, neither instills much confidence. I refuse to do business with so divisive a company, especially one claiming to champion the idea of bringing people together.

I have no issue with paying for a service and, as others have mentioned, this site is not potentially useful until you pay. They have no control over those who frequent their site and, sorry to say, most of the persons with whom I have interacted are scammers or single for a reason. In the week that I have been a subscriber, 98% of contacts inbound have been "likes" without any associated message. How do they believe that this can be an overture to conversation? Most "likes" are from persons who live more than 50 miles from the location that I have posted. How do they believe that any kind of bond can be formed without some live face-to-face interaction? I have had one clear scammer and one slime ball. There has not been a single reply to my overtures which ALWAYS comprise a message that clearly indicates that I have read their profile.
TIPS FOR AVOIDING PROBLEMS (that L learned the hard way): Do not respond to people who are not verified. Do not respond to people who have provided little to no information about themselves; especially the red-flag "I'll tell you later". Do NOT provide any contact information (e.g. telephone or full name) until after you have assured yourself that the person is genuine. Even then, consider using a disposable number service like TextNow. You would be shocked to discover how much a scammer can do with your phone number. This site provides a platform that MAY enable you to find somebody compatible BUT, just like real life, you're going to have to sort through a huge pile of rubbish until you find the gem you seek. Be patient!

As a widow in my 50s, I joined Match.com with cautious optimism, hoping to find genuine companionship. Unfortunately, after months of searching, all I’ve found is frustration. First, the matches are either wildly incompatible or completely unresponsive. I carefully crafted my profile, was honest about what I was looking for, and even paid for the upgraded membership—yet I rarely got messages, and when I did, they were either copy-paste lines or obvious scams. The few men who did seem promising either disappeared after a few messages or weren’t actually interested in a real connection. It seems like many are just here to pass the time, not build something meaningful. And don’t get me started on the ones still hung up on their ex-wives!
For a site that claims to be one of the best for serious relationships, the experience has been disappointing at best. Match is an interesting entity. They have good aspects, and not-so-good aspects. The good: they don't seem to suffer downtime much; their database of people who are seeking dates seems large; there is capacity to include large amounts of information about oneself; they have at least rudimentary searching and bookmarking capability. The not-so-good: not all fields seem usable as search keys; there is no way, internally, to "mark" someone as being of interest without sending them a "like"*; the user interface is clumsy in a number of ways; the filters they provide don't seem terribly effective (most notably, distance seems to be largely ignored.)
My take on this site is that they may well be putting fake profiles up - I have no way of knowing. But I have had correspondence with enough women - and dates with enough - to know that it's certainly not a complete scam. I do know that it took a lot of persistence on my part. One particularly annoying part of the exercise is that people don't tend to reply if they're not interested. This, I believe, is due to a couple of reasons. One is that many people are very awkward, and sometimes lazy, about giving negative feedback. This is exacerbated by the fact that when you reply to someone, you can't do it without showing up as a "match", AND if you un-match them, it makes you invisible to the other party and they have no way of seeing the reply anyway, so why bother? This is Match's way of artificially inflating their number of successful matches, I suspect.
With the good and the bad, I'd say that if you live in a major metro area with high population density (I do - Philly/NJ area), this is a useful tool, but they don't make the search completely easy, but it's certainly easier than trolling bars or the park or the supermarket, or wherever. I've been on probably about 14 dates now, in about 7 months of active membership, two of which resulted in short-ish relationships, with one of them being a current relationship that has some question-marks but has been a very deep connection, with I-love-you's having been exchanged with sincerity.
You can do it on Match, it is helpful, but don't expect it to be your magic wand. Meeting people and creating deep, serious relationships is TOUGH. You've just gotta do the work, and know that not everyone is very bright. You're gonna have to sort through a lot of junk. It's sort of like dumpster-diving. It can be worthwhile, but you have to be prepared for the massive amount of content you're NOT interested in.

I'm seeing alot of "bottom of the barrel"....really? There aren't many people in my area either. Additionally when I log in I'm often receiving "Our site may be experiencing technical difficulties, or we may be working to enhance this feature." Your site does me zero good if I cannot get into my account. This has happened so many times. You cannot call into customer service and must wait for them to email; but it doesn't matter because they all don't know how to help, maybe one person out of 10 knows what to do.
I have to cancel my account before the end of my membership or they'll auto renew. That means you miss out on using the service for the remainder of your membership. That's ridiculous. All I said was that I was looking for a friendship and physical relationship and the word "physical" must have done it. I can't think of anything else I might have said.
Then, when you try to contact them, it's at least 48 hours before they reply. Then, because their choices they offer you on drop down menus to report your problem don't fit any of your problems you are forced to choose a subject that has nothing to do with your issue. Then, after you submit your issue and inform them that your issue didn't fit any of their categories, they send your message to "another department" because you sent it to the wrong department. Well, yeah, of course it went to the wrong department because otherwise you wouldn't have been able to message them at all.
Their website also lacks information regarding how to use it. For example, if you see a person's photo that looks interesting and click onto it merely to enlarge it, Match instantly sends a message to that person telling them that you "Like" them! So, if someone clicks onto your photo, Match tells you that that person "Likes" you. Then, if you write to them, they have no idea why you would be contacting them or worse, you have sent an untrue message to that person. It's a mess. There is no customer service phone number you can dial as all communications are through emails which can take several hours to get a response to your questions or concerns. I was banned from the site with no explanation why. I did ask for a refund which they gave me, but no explanation of why my account was deleted from the site. I am a healthcare professional in my mid-50s. I live in the Bakersfield, California (Central California) region for reference. I have been single now for over 6 years and nowadays the dating sites are worse than they were 10 years ago. Match is a money maker nothing else. I thought going with the 6 month plan would be more beneficial but once the payment was made and the features were unlocked I found out quickly this was a waste of money. I’ve not received any likes for my likes, I’ve not liked 99% of my so called matches, and there has been no communication except from admin saying my profile content had violated their terms which they were unable or unwilling to share the exact content that violated their terms. Their matching system is useless and appears to be designed to make lonely people more lonely and to make more money because they want YOU to keep looking.
If you must try it pay for 1 month and cancel when you see how useless it is. Don’t think that you can get the longer plan and get your money back if you cancel even 1 day after. They likely will be like e harmony (very similar how their dating/ matching system works and almost identical). If you cancel the payment they will send the case to a collection agency, report the default on your credit record and you WILL pay the bill as well as have a lower score because of it. Please don’t give them the pleasure!

After I respond to all the questions a week later they unlocked my account without giving me a reason why they locked my account in the first place, of course I called American Express and explain what have happened and start a dispute process with American Express, guess what now I'm still asking a question what have happened to my account. Two weeks later I still have no explanation, as you could see in the screenshot for three days I'm still waiting to chat with a representative as via email it's takes 3 to 5 days for them to respond and when they respond they don't read your question. They just don't know how to read, don't want to read, how to made it to respond you get immediately but when the rabbit gets into your email they respond not to your question but just the standard nonsense email they will send you, shame on you match.com that once used to be a good company.

I had to initiate contact with Match to let them know I cannot log in. There is no customer service number...I had to email back and forth and go through an appeal process to get my profile back. They refunded me my money and once they approved to have my profile back I had to pay again.
This time I did the silver plan because they didn't give me a promotion to get Platinum plan because I guess I'm not a new customer anymore. With the silver plan I wasn't getting messages every day like I use to...only managed to get 300 views and now most people were not paying customers so they never responded after you'd send a message. The quality of men on the site was blah...many of the men were not good looking...Match didn't allow me to alter my criteria for who I'd be interested in...I paid money...why can't I filter who I'm looking for?!?! I ended up cancelling my plan and deleting my profile 3 weeks before the plan ended...I took down my pics and erased my profile...they most likely recycle old profiles that weren't taken down in order to make it look like there are more people on the site. I signed up for Match with high hopes. It was very disappointing. I went through the process of making a profile to fit their standards including pictures. Got on the site and really didn’t see anyone that I felt like I could connect with. I work full time and am into going to the gym and no one there fit what I was looking for. Anyway I immediately tried to delete my profile but couldn’t. In fact for three weeks I tried to delete my profile and couldn’t. People from the website started calling me and convinced me to get on and try again. I did in fact I liked over 30 women ..? No response.
The truth is women are not far off from men. People know what they are looking for when they get on the site but match will keep you on the site sending notifications and so on. When they are done with you they will push you to tinder absolute truth her. Yes they are done marketing you. It didn’t work. Women want a ceo not a 9-5 man. It will make you a tinder account and push you through. Terrible site Period. Way overrated. If you make an account plan on not being able to delete it for over a month and getting harassed by women calling you later. They will say you're not a good fit via auto timed out response that chimes with n on your phone. Only good thing is at this point you actually delete your profile and your account.

This is the worst dating site that I have been on. It used to be very diverse, if you're looking for a ** man who's established this is not it. There are more ** men on the dating site that have a little more going on. However, I'm not interested. Most of the guys online are old accounts set up.

Match.com is a complete scam. I signed up for match.com to try and find women who were looking for a relationship. 95 percent of the profiles on match.com are fake profiles and after you go through all the fake profiles you are left with about 3 actual possible matches. I paid for the 1 year membership for around $200 and I never met one single person on the website. You send a message they never reply because they have given up from all the fake profiles or they are old profiles never removed. I will never sign up for another online dating website. I will either meet them at the store, church, or some other public event. Match is a complete scam.

Paid over $100 for a 3 month membership and can't even see who liked me or message more than 2 people. Constantly asking for more money. Horrible experience. Be careful. They own Plenty of Fish too!!! Match group sucks!!! Don't waste your money!!!

My experience with Match.com has been incredibly frustrating. After creating an account, I was quickly logged out due to a login error. When I contacted customer service, they said they would look into it, but instead, they blocked my account without any explanation. To make matters worse, even though I requested that my pictures and personal information be deleted, they simply told me there’s no access to my account without confirming that anything was actually deleted. The entire process was a waste of time, and I wouldn’t recommend this platform to anyone.

Let's say you were going to buy a new or used car. First, your expectation would be to find a dealership and to search their inventory for the year, make, model and price that you want. Secondly, once you searched their stock, you would then expect that you could go to the dealership to inspect the car, maybe take it for a test drive before deciding to purchase it. What if the dealer told you that you had to pay a fee first to see if they even had what you wanted and if they didn't have what you wanted, they would not refund your money.
Let say that you needed food and wanted to buy some produce and before you could even look at the produce, the manger of the grocery store told you that you could not look at the veggies to see if they were fresh and crisp. You first had to pay a fee to see if they indeed had what you wanted and once you discover they did not have the produce you were looking for you could not get your money back. Most folks would see this nonsense as a scam. Yet this is what Match Group who owns Match.com does! As a customer, you are not allowed to first see if they have a decent selection of people that meet your criteria in your geographical area prior to paying for a subscription. They want you to be stupid enough to first pay for a subscription and then they won't allow you to freely put in your deal-breakers or certain criteria, they then nickel and dime you on that.
After you pay for a subscription, you still have no idea if they can provide you what you want, but they already have your money. You then have to pay more money to narrow the selection down to a certain race, religion, body size, smoking or not, etc. And once you find that you have paid a lot of money only to discover that after adding all your criteria, there are only five women or men in your area that meet your criteria. But you are not physically attracted to any of them. This is why Match Group wants your money before they allow you to inventory who is available in your area. This is a complete scam!!

Met my 2nd wife on MATCH back in 2005 (she passed away 2015). Figured, after 10 single years, I'd try it again. The times they have changed. Subscribed for a month, got charged for 6. Ok, probably OE but what the heck. I can see profiles but cannot see those who have "viewed me". THAT costs more money now. While not a horrible experience (so far a waste of money for me), just be aware it ain't all fun and games.

I'm perplexed at how there are so many on here who have been locked out of their accounts? I have never been blocked from the many different accounts I have had with them, nor have they ever charged me for something I did not ask for. Maybe these people are the reason Match has so few genuine members on there? We know that there are huge organizations that hire people to create profiles to scam honest singles. Sad. I have used Match off and on, but it has never worked for me. My cousin met her husband from Match, so I was hopeful I might meet a quality man. I have met other men from other sites, but Match seems to be the one site where it's almost impossible to connect with someone real.
After reading the article about the FTC suing Match for using inactive member profiles as bait for potential members, or to keep members renewing their plans; I now knew why it was so hard to meet anyone. We now know that all of those profiles with the green dots are not reliable. It's really disappointing that there really are no honest dating sites out there. I know there are a few, but they are ghost towns, because most have given up on dating sites altogether. Which is what I should do.

I terminated my contract with them and then got emails from a dozen women. Checked out my profile and there was another man's pic. He managed to make two charges of $54.99 on my credit card. After repeated attempts of trying to talk to a HUMAN I gave up with Match.com customer service. Only email allow- with a response of, "I am forwarding your concern to another person and department." Thank my bank because they have a human I can talk to who reserse my charges and terminated my CC- issued a new one w a different #. Match is all AI to save $$$ and make PROFIT.

Terrible customer service. They don’t even have a phone number for customers. Rely on emails and several days lag time between emails and just pass you off to another tech rep. They require frequent “verification” of your account especially to non paying members. They couldn’t find my phone # in their database to verify me even tho I was previously a paying member. Incompetent administration. I provided them answers to their questions regarding “verification” and still I was locked out from reading my messages. Definitely a one star dating site. Because Match.com also owns and controls most of the dating sites they give very poor service figuring they can get away with it. They have ruined online dating.

They say that 5% of men get 95% of attention on the site. That's true for me. I'm an average guy, I have a decent job, a house paid off, car, motorcycle, all my stuff together. Hired a dating coach to help me with my profile. Got professional pictures taken, but still, very few matches and the ones that match usually do not respond. I believe Match.com is not concerned if you find love but rather that you do not find love, so you keep paying for their products and services. It becomes frustrating.
