    It's really quite absurd how you can make a payment TOO EARLY when it's being paid in the exact billing cycle you paid for! I paid my bill on August 23, 2008, the statement I was billed for was for Aug 3, 2008-Sept. 2, 2008. I paid the bill on Aug 23, 2008. Come to find out Oct. 3rd I get a call from Cap. One, I'm late I have received a late fee of $39 and not to mention a Over the Limit charge ($39) to go with it, because their past due charge made me go over the limit. Now, they say they can't do anything about the charges, because I made my payment too early that billing cycle didn't end yet, I was supposed to wait till Sept. 2nd to pay then it would have been applied to that statement instead my payment on August 23rd went towards my previous bill which end on August 2nd that payment had already been made and posted.

    BAD COMPANY BAD SERVICE!!!!! RIDICULOUS FEES!! Early payment how crazy I have to pay fees (Late & Over the Limit) for an early payment! They simply say we're sorry, I am sorry you feel that way. We can't do anything about it, it is system generated. I see enough complaints on here, I don't understand why they haven't had a CLASS ACTION put against them yet. I have had the no bill statement happen to me by this company to when I first enrolled, they had charge me late fees, but fortunately they credited it back maybe it was only because I hadn't gone into debt with them yet. NEVER EVER WILL DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!

    I received a $3,000 credit limit and was making my payments on time every month for about 5 months and they told me that I was going to receive a $500 credit limit increase if I kept making my payments on time. They sent me balance transfer checks and more information and increased my credit limit after 6 months. I went to the store one day and was going to use my card. (I knew that I had like 800.00 dollars available with the increase I had just received and I didn't have my debit card on me so I figured no big deal considering I only bought like $11.00 worth of stuff). The lady at the store ran my card and told me it was declined. Impossible I thought.

    Well I went home and called immediately thinking that someone had made an error or stole my identity or something. Nope. Apparently they had made a mistake when they issued my credit limit, and the credit limit increases. They had decreased my credit limit with no prior notice. They decreased it to $2500 leaving me over my new credit limit. Then they start charging me over the limit fees, and late fees for not paying the complete new minimum of the 300.00 dollars.

    I had not missed or been late on a payment on this account or any other account. It took me 6 months to get it under the new balance and no one wanted to help and told me they sent me a letter telling me they were going to decrease my credit limit. When I asked for a copy of the letter they told me they couldn't find a copy of it right at the moment but that I had received it. I also asked if they would reverse the fees or give my acct a review and increase my limit so that it wouldn't put me over the limit and they said no. They also stated to me that they had others they had made mistakes on and they were also reporting that they had not received any letter either.

    I don't understand how you can be sending out balance transfer checks to use on your acct. that you are getting a credit limit increase on and they be told you knew they were decreasing you credit limit. I think that there has to be some sort of law that was broken by charging me and not sending me the letter when I asked for a copy of it. I was so embarrassed when I was told my card was declined in front of like 6 different customers, I had no way of purchasing the dinner items I needed. I ended up paying way too much in fees and I am still getting over the limit fees because I am now very close to my limit every month because of the interest. I can't pay the card down because of all the charges I just want to get rid of this card.

    I closed an account with Capital One over 4 years ago and every year they send me a statement with annual fee, every year they tell me it will close out and the next year here comes the statement again... So, I figure if I am getting this every year then maybe someone is is probably getting them too. Now, I have wrote them a letter again to see what will happen, also I spoke to a customer service rep. on the phone and they promised they would send me a letter stating the account was closed, which I have yet to receive. I do have another account with Capital One which is current and I am paying it off... but, it has nothing to do with the one I paid off years ago. I also, let them know in my letter that this is why people have bad credit because of something like this happening to them. Please, what can I do to get them to understand.

    I opened a North Fork bank account in 2000 and received a 1500 overdraft protection limit. I have never used more than $100.00 of that overdraft protection and have paid it back promptly. I NEVER received a free from North Fork bank for using it. When Capital One took over, I kept my overdraft protection. I recently overdrafted $100 because my check had not cleared yet. Unfortunately they did NOT take the money out of my overdraft checking, and they charged me a $35 dollar fee. I contacted them regarding the issue and they stated that they will not issue a refund on the fee. I never received one form of notification that my Overdraft Line of Credit was not going to be utilized, nor any correspondence regarding the $35 dollar fees that would be given for overdrafts.

    Horrible bank, horrible customer service. I am upset that they offered no warning that they are not going to follow the system I had with North Fork bank. A letter would have been nice, or at least refund the $35 dollars since I was not aware of the new layout. I'm transferring to Wachovia, at least their customer service speaks to me like a human being.

    In Jan.21st of 2004, my wife and myself took a lein against our home from Cortland Banks to pay off all our credit cards. To begin with we did not owe any first morgage on our home. So the bank got info of all the credit card pay-offs. Money was sent to each and every creditor on that list. So we ended up getting results in the mail of creditors that in fact had closed out our accounts. Every one sent out info on our accounts being closed, for the exeption of CAPITOL ONE. They cashed in the checks sent to them. And never closed the accounts out.

    In their statements, terms and conditions it states the account has to be paid to 0 before the account is closed out. So in what efforts did they use the pay-off money sent to them to close these accounts out. They basically took the money then purposely did not close these accounts, even after notifying them over the phone. And now recently went into our bank account to try to recieve funds owed to them, which in fact they were already paid in full by a Bank. And are sueing me for compiled interest rates.

    A Charge Was Put On My Credit Card In June, By A Company ICG, For 111.00. Being I Did Not Make This Charge I Notified The Company For Signature Proof Of This Charge, Which They Could Not Provide. I Then Called Capitalone To Dispute This Charge, After Talking To Several People And Being Put On Hold For 40 Minutes At A Time, They Would Not Take The Charge Off My Account. I Asked For Proof Of Their Decision By Providing A Signed Charge, They Could Not Provide The Document. I Do Not Believe I Should Be Charged For Service That Was Not Performed. I Hope You Can Help. Thank You

    Tried To Speak To Capitalone Mgmt. On Several Occasions, Only To Get Transferred From Person To Person, And Kept On Hold During This Process For Long Length's Of Time, Hoping I Would Go Away.

    I planned a trip to Ireland in May 2008 using BMIT as the agent and charging the charges onto my credit card. My agent told me the charges were $5680. When I received my bill, I had two charges, one for 5706 and another for 102. Without an receipt or anything I had signed, I could not understand the fees as they were different than I was told. I went through the dispute department of the company and was finally told that there was nothing they could do, they must honor what the credit card had told them was the charge. I then went to the Better Business Bureau.

    The only response they have made was to forward a letter dated 7/23/08 from BMIT telling that they had finally attached a receipt to the BBB. They had not. The Boston BBB had sent me the letter and I had to ask repeatedly for the receipt. The Boston BBB finally said they had no receipt. Just last week (almost 5 months later) BMIT forward a short receipt to me. My concern is that a credit card company does not require any substantiation of charges and goes purely by the company's word.

    In addition, the company churned the dispute. I would be told to send them paperwork to explain my charge. I would check, they would have info. Later they would close the claim, saying they had received nothing. I had to begin to send all info through the mail with delivery notification. I was often told they had something, told a little later, they had nothing. Once this situation is straightened out, I will close this credit card. However, I would like to believe that credit cards require something proving a charge. Something with my signature or a receipt upon request.

    For the past three months Trans Union had my car loan balance at $9313, but it was actually $5,241. I initiated a false balance dispute which ended up with all 3 credit bureaus having my balance as $5241 and a CHARGE OFF. I called capital to question them about it- they wanted me to fax them everyting that I have, that establishes that my account is not CHARGED OFF. I couldn't believe this, you are sitting behind a computer looking at my account, and telling me I'm in good standards- but still want me to fax you documents proving my account isn't CHARGED OFF.

    To top it off, the fax number given is always busy. I can't call the dipute team directly because the representative tells me there is no number. In the meantime, my credit scores are suffering because of their lack job committment and/or plain ole' incompetency.

    My credit report indicating a charge off for a car I will be making payments on next month. Future creditors see charge off- not the story behind it

    They have garnished 260.00 out of my check from money that i owe them i just found out that they would start garnishing from my check this past pay period I can not afford to make this payment every pay period i had to borrow money to make my rent payment for this month i would like to know if i can set a hearin or get help to try to reduce this payment to where i wont have to keep borrowing money just to make this credit payment what can i do?

    I have to borrow money to keep up with other payments do to this garnishment i can't keep doing this.

    I called to cancel my lost card and get a new one. I had some 0% financing checks from the old card that I wanted to use. Unfortunately the person I was speaking to was Indian and very hard to understand. I asked if I could still use these checks hes said no but that he would send me a new one and wouldnt go into affect until I cashed it.

    Of course it went into affect as soon as the credit card company wrote it and charged me the interest. I now had no choice and wanted to make a payment against the balance that I had on my card that was not at a 0% finance. To my amazement they said that the balance is applied to the lowest interest amount first. In other words they will pay off my 0% financing immediately(even though I should have 18months to pay it off) and not apply the money to the balance that is being charge interest. They also stated that this information was disclosed however even if it was I could barely understand the man in his indian accent. I also would never had gotten the check knowing this or paid off my balance first before using these checks. I feel as if they have pulled a fast one.

    I am now paying interest money that I did not have to pay at all! Its a big joke and I am very disappointed and upset over this!

    My experience with Capital One has been great. THey lowered my APR (when I qualified) and I had no special fee when I used it overseas. One year I had an over-the-limit fee after they put on the annual fee...but that is not unreasonable, they are just like most credit cards out there. IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW CREDIT CARDS WORK, DONT GET ONE. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!

    capital one is causing me more trouble than I can imagine. they have tacked on charges after closing the credit card and have negatively impacted my credit. I am 27 years old and i thought i needed a credit card to build credit. I have a good job and a bachelors of science. they have not allowed me to pay off my account balance and keep causing me problems. i need help closing my account. they have really screwed up my life.

    the concequences are lost sleep, lost money, lost composure and having to deal with a fraudulent company that has one objective in mind: money.

    Capitol One allowed my son to set up an automatic withdrawl from my checking account to pay off his credit card without my authorization. There was no signature involved or a call to ask my permission. The manager I spoke with said they assumed he had my permission. This was AFTER I called 4 times and told them they are not authorized to do this and they continued to take payments from my checking account.

    They will not allow me to change the account since I am not an authorized user on the account. He is not an authorized user on my bank account, but they are taking my money from me. They are just as much at fault as my son who set it up. They will do nothing for me but illegalally take my money. Something needs to be done to prevent this from happening ever again. I guess I can get my neighbors checking account number and tell them to pay off my card every month? How nice!

    $2500 was taken fraudulently from my checking account becasue of Capitol Ones neglegence in not authorizing the withdrawls.

    I owe on a personal loan and a credit card loan. I have become permanently disabled. He is calling at least 10 times a week or more. I've asked for calls to cease. Told him i cannot possibly nake pymt until maybe next year. He told me he would still continue to call every week. when i asked to speak to a superior, he declined. He threatened me with legal action and reposession of personal property on several occassions.

    When i asked exactly what that would be, he said he couln't get into specifics. He refused to give full name and/ or ID number. The debt is already comsidered a charge-off and he claims he cannot give me specifics on my acct. He says he just needs pymt.

    I'm extremely frustrated with this situation. These calls are coming on my cell phone and even a phone number that i did not authorize for calls. I don't appreciate the threats. And i don't understand why he cannot send me any information regarding my bill or charge-off status.

    I have three credit accounts at Capital One Bank. Two are for the business and one is a personal one. I am paying 24.99% interest on two of these accounts. On the other one I am paying 16.99% interest. I have tried to consolidate the two business accounts and they will not allow it.

    Then, I received my last bill. There was an over limit charge and a past due fee. The account could not be past due because I pay the bill on the 25th of each month. So, with the past due amount, it put me over the limit. They also charged me $51 interest. Can you help?

    I have an outstanding balance, it has been passed on to a company called Debitas. For the last three months i have been getting calls from capital one three times a day and seven days a week, when i answer no one speaks i have been told by a freind that it is a computer doing this. The word Harassment springs to mind. When i applied for the card i stated that i was unemployed and on disability with a yearly income of app 5000 pounds yet they still allowed me a card, even though there forms stated minimum 10000 per year.

    When i have spoken to cap one staff they appear to come from another country and dont speak good english. I will try to pay this debt off when i can but i will not if i get constant harassment from them, ie (silent phone calls).

    I applied for this card after i had a stroke in 2005 and was on full disability benefit , i am still off work on long term sick and do not need crank calls 24/7 even sunday mornings when in church. The card was a 200pound limit and i am being charged intrest at around 30 pound a month, i know i owe the money but it seems to me a drastic tactic to try and recover this debt..i am no longer on full D.L.A. and get 83 pounds a week in benefit now.

    Several years ago I opened a Capital One credit card account with a limit of $200. I purchased a piece of work out equip for $149.95 and had the $49.00 annual fee to max that card. That was all I ever did on that card. Subsequently I've paid a total of $850 on this account and am now being sued for $1155.33 (OTL & Late fees) + $60.80 interest + court costs. This is theft. I've told several collectors they would have to take me to court and now they are. I am disgusted to have to commit any further time or effort to this. If I can't win, I don't even want to take off work to go. Why isn't there a class action against Capital One for predatory lending?

    I canceled my credit card over 9 months ago because they would not take off a secondary user. One month ago I got a statement for $20.00 for the yearly fee of the card. I ignored the statement because I had canceled the card, and I would never sign on again. This month I got a bill for late charges of $15.00 added to the annual fee.

    First of all Capital one card NEVER explained that it was going to allow me to go over my credit limit. What is a credit limit after all if they allow you to go over? So, the service they provide is to allow you to go over your limit and then charge you a higher APR and an over the limit fee......for 4 months in a row BUT never inform you with a call or an email that you are indeed over the limit. BUt it is then okay to call you 4 days in a row (FROM INDIA) and wake you up to let you know you need to make a paymet.......which you have already made!!!!!

    I work 3rd shift. This is ridiculous. I asked to not be called again and they said that I would have to write in and send in a letter requesting this. Why cna't I just say don't call me again? Send me a freaking email like the rest of the world!

    Upon Repocession of my 04 mustang the repo company was in Breach of Peace. by the following conditions 1) he knowingly and willfully entered my garage (the door was closed) against my will. 2) He Verbally threatened me and we got into a physical altercation and he damaged my drive way and garage floor with his tow truck.

    I was promised a lower APR by a CSR Capital One never gave it to me. They claimed that the request to do so was denied. However, they never told me that they were putting in a request. They told me that it would definitely be lowered and that I would get a letter by U.S. mail confirming the APR change. After complaining about it and seemingly getting nowhere, I asked them the name, address and the CEO of Capital One. They gave me some phony fax number where the letter I sent was probably trashed.

    When I called back to see if my letter had been received, the account manager stated that there was no way I could speak to someone in Richard Fairbanks' office and that she was the highest I could go. At that point, I made a decision that I would not let this situation pass without making several attempts to contact someone in upper level management to inform them of how their customers were being treated and how they were being lied to just to get them off the phone.

    I accrued several late and over the limit fees as a result of the APR not being lowered as promised. I raised enough cane about it that they removed the late fees for three months straight. I was also being reported to the credit bureaus as being late, thusly damaging my credit score.

    we wrote our son a check for 3.ooo.oo from our money market acct at capital one bank to heip him purchase a house. he deposited the ck into his bank they in turn sent it jp morgan bank who is the govt clearing house for cks. they presented to capital one for payment. cap one says it pd the ck. well his bank says no they did not. this has went on for 10 days finaly we got numbers off the back of the ck which his bank says is routing numbers for bank 1 of ind. so i called pixie with this info and she wanted to know where i got those numbers i got them from gia who works at cap one and could she please find out why the money was routed to this bank.

    i mean 3000 is a lot of money to me. i told her i know people make mistakes i'm not mad about that it is the attitude that i'm the one who caused this whole mess. i have been given the run around from day one on this. SO DO NOT USE CAPITAL ONE BANK FOR ANYTHING. we bank at integra bank in evansville in and they have not helped much either.

    as a result they will not be able to close on their house until we cash in an cd to help them more expense and time wasted.

    Capital One Screws everyone they can

    I got my first credit card just before I turned 21 from these jackals. I had just reached a year with my former employeer so I figured I'd build up as much credit as possible as quick as possible with maybe $70-100 of free credit remaining, which is my fault entirely. But I had no way to know that within two weeks I'd suspended and eventually. Now while serving up a 5 week suspension there was no reason to call their protection coverage, since suspension is not included.

    At the end of the suspension I was fired (unjustly, but not what we are talking about right now), within 24 hours of being informed of my termination I spoke with capital one and told them of my current employment woes and was given the number for thier protection agency. When I called them I was informed that one missed payment and they no longer cover you, but will continue to charge you.

    On numerous times I've asked them to stop charging the card because I've had an unfortunately large amount of luck in the employment area(employed less than half of the time the past 3 years). Though within these 3 years I've paid them $1,000 on to a card that had a $500 limit. Becuase of inconsistent employment it was impossible to maintain monthly payments. So everytime I'd get a chance to make a payment I'd have to send them $200 or more just to get it back to the balance let alone paid off.

    Now though I've done my best to work with them and thier limited amount of space to work. It was pushed to the point of harasment where I would have to explain the hell of the past 3 years of my life every 24 hours being asked a myriad of the same questions over and over again. Being unemployed and stressed to that extent so continously is not something I could handle without wanting to kill myself(even explaining my psych diagnosis, but recieving little more than a small violin) so I had to start ignoring them for my own health. Which leads us to my current state with them as usuall they've continued to charge the card balance is now $1210 being threatened with lawyers and attorney's fees over a small claims. Do yourselves don't deal with these leeches and they really should be charged for thier recent business practices which have sank our economy. Harrasing the unemployed that they helped unemploy now that's redundent.

    I went online and checked my account. I'm used to them sending out the statement by mail almost too late to pay ontime, so I always go online for it. My new statement was available, so I went ahead and made my next payment. The next month I see late fees and OTL charges even though I didn't use the card at all. It turned out that while I could see the statement, that doesn't mean things are updated in their system yet.

    So my payment was applied to the previous month that I had already paid and no payment was applied to the current month. I was getting hit with late charges that sent it over the limit, then getting over the limit charges added to that, all for paying too early. The day my new statement was available was TOO EARLY to make a payment. It took a lot of arguing, but I got them to remove those charges. Then I promptly paid off the balance.

    It took 5 phone calls over a two week period to get them to cancel the card after that. Every time I called, that department was having system issues and couldn't even pull up account information. If I called to ask a question or go to the credit increase department or anything else they could pull up all of my info, just not the cancel dept. Finally got the account closed and will never have anything to do with Capital One again.

    On behalf of my ill father and with his telephone permission, we disputed an on-going credit protection withdrawal and cancelled the card. The agent apologized and said it( the credit charges) would be removed, reimbursed and the card stopped.

    My father died in January. Two months later new charges and statements started to appear. We have tried repeatedly to notify (in writing)that they do not have the right to illegally charge someone who is deceased.

    The Federal Trade Commission has been notified. Anyone whose identify is being used illegally is committing fraud.

    Our next recourse is to, hopefully, bring an action in small claims and get these people to stop.

    I made a deposit inside the bank on Friday 08/29/08 before closing hours, but wasn't made aware that funds would not credit that day but until that Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. I scheduled 4 bill payments to deduct that Friday, and because funds did not credit I was given 4 NSF/OD fees at $35 each. First, I sent a secure message in Customer Service, who in turn told me to contact the bank, So,I called in on 09/03/08 spoke to an agent who transferred me to a supervisor with an Indian accent by the name of Lynette, who assured me since I was a long-term customer and never acquired any NSF/OD fees she could remove 2 as a courtesy.

    A week passed and no corrections were on my account, I called back again on 09/08/08, spoke to an agent by the name of Olivia, who again assured me she had her supervisor to remove the fees but they would not show until 3 to 5 business days, a week passed no credits. Unsatisfied I decided to write a complaint letter to the CEO that same day and have yet to get a response. So again, I called back in today, 09/16/08 and spoke to a Cassie/Casey who told me no notes were on the account that any fees would be waived, and no one in Customer Service would be able to apply those credits.

    As a result of the $140 in NSF/OD fees I would unable to purchase necessary blood pressure medication, and pay other bills.

    me and my wife paid off our account with our tax returns in 2005. i never did recieve another bill from capital one but when me and my wife tried to get a house we found out that i owed 700.00 to capital one on a 200.00 limit card and because of this my credit score is lower than what is needed to get financed for a house. capital one ruining mine and my families life

    I am now a Sophomore in college and have no interest in getting a credit card for a while now. I don't give out personal information unless absolutely necessary, but somehow Capital One has been harassing me with advertisements about special offers. I have called them several times and have tried to get my name and address off their mailing list with no success.

    The worst part is that the address they have on file for me is my freshman dorm address which is now occupied by another college freshman. Luckily the University has the good sense to forward my mail, but Capital One put my credit score at risk and [is] making me an easy target for identity theft!

    I have both credit cards and an auto loan with Capital One. The minute I fell behind with my payments the phone calls staeted. The first problem is that I live on the east coast and my phone number is a west coast number. I thave begged for them to stop calling me until mid-night but they won't stop. I know I owe them money but the harassment tactics of phones too late and 2-3 times per hour is insane. The payment on my credit cards would not be so behind if they had not charged me $39 over-the-limit fee which was created due to the $39 late fee being added to my account.

    I now sit oweing $677 on a $500 limit account. I did not make any additional purchses above $490, the fees are causing the problem. My auto loan is just as much a joke, when I have spoken to someone, they lied about the hardship help, Capital One wants the money, but have no regard for their customers. I wish I could just pay them off, but don't have the funds to. I hit a hard patch in July and just getting into a position to get back on my feet. It would have been nice if this company had treated me better. The funny thing is in June my cards had zero balances and my auto was current. Since the end of July I have grown to hate Capital One for the disrespect they have shown me.

    Both my cards are well over the limit due to execessive fees with threats of going into collection. My auto loan will take months to get caught up and they will continue the phone calls daily until I'm caught up per several reps I've talked to. I do not have $1700 to catch up, I can't afford my insurance or gas for the vehicle. The insurance is now cancelled.

    My Son joined the U.S. Army in early July and sent in the requests to Capitol One and Wamu for a freeze on his cards while in boot camp. Wamu, no problem. Capitol One, Big Problem! We have return receipts for both July and again in September for this request reaching Capitol one but they somehow cannot resolve this issue.

    I have spoke with several people, and have gotten all the run-around a person can stand, from a girl who just kept saying how important the Federal relief act is (but doing nothing) to people in foreign lands who know nothing. All have made Notes to the account but we get called several time a day sometimes anyway.

    My sons credit is being adversly affected and I am being harassed. Penalties are mounting on his card and there is no end in sight.

    I went over my credit limit because of the interest that was charged, rather than an actual charge that I made. I was charged 39 dollars, and a 39 dollar late fee. The payment was on time, but they said that the 39 dollar over limit fee caused me to be late. A supervisor also had the nerve to tell me that a payment can be either for the current month of applied to a previous month. I know this makes no sense, and rattled off the dates that all the payments were posted to my account. This was first to a woman who didn't speak enough English to comprehend that their error needed to be corrected, and then to a supervisor who wanted to read rules to me instead of listen.

    Now they've upped my interest rate, and refuse to do anything about it. I said I was going to cash a CD and pay them off and close the account. The supervisor said now it won't help you out to do that, will it??? Why can't they hire somebody who is on the same wave-length as the rest of the planet?

    Capital One issued our business a business credit card that began at a 0% interest rate, then changed their interest rate to a whopping 34%! My company simply cannot afford the minimum payment and they have sent us to collections without any willingness to negotiate terms.

    The terms are clearly misleading and we have received documentation from Capital One that tries to justify the new interest rate.

    It has been an ongoing problem trying to cancel out 2 of 3 credit cards with Capitol One. Two of the accts have been paid off & cancelled. Months later we start getting bills again. We contact them & they tell us when the acct is pd in full it will be cancelled. The 3rd acct had been pd on several times with cks for amounts way over the min payment.

    When we call we cannot get a real person or we get a person we cannot understand. I have proof of all amounts pd & have decided I am not paying anymore to capitol one. we have not used this card since last Sept and it should have been pd off long ago. Atleast we have been going above & beyond trying to get this pd off, where I am sure that there are people out there that abuse these cards. we are at whits end on this & are going to proceed with taking this to our attorney

    Statement is misleading as to when payment is due. Statement at the top shows due date as Aug 4,2008 but actually it is due no later than 3:00 PM ET on Aug 4, 2008 which for me makes it 12:00 Noon (PT). This information is printed on the back of the statement in a very small print (almost need a magnifying glass to read). Every so often I fill forget it is due by 12 noon and will be late. I was 22 minutes late on Aug 4 2008 and was charged a $39.00 late fee.

    My opinion is that they do it this way intentioally knowing that people will miss the 12 noon cutoff and CapitalOne will be able to charge the late fee. I beleive it is an unfair and predatory practice. They should either stop this practice or they should put at the statemet at the top that it is due on Aug 4 2008 before 12 Noon. When they use 3:00 PM ET again in my opinon it is another trick as you will remember the 3:00 PM but forget it is ET and will slip again and they will get another late fee.

    I applied for this card for travel points (double points for every $1 spent) with a $40 annual fee. I have always paid the full balance on-line every month. The 1st month in there was a glitch (their mistake), that took 6 months to work out where Capital One held back over 8,000 in reward points.

    Several months later I made a mistake and did not complete the on-line transaction, which resulted in a late pay or default. The balance on the card was a little over $400. They immediately put a hole on over 20,000 in points for an account not in good standing. I offered to use the 20,000 points for $100 towards the balance and pay the rest to $0. They would not let me use the points on hold (however, they did waive the late fee).

    I paid the balance, like I do every month and cancelled the card. I called two other card companies I carry points with (Discover and Direct Merchants Bank) they do not hold back points paid and earned. I have had Direct Merchants bank for over 10 years and never had a problem and have had Discover for over 1 year and find them (though slow), very amicable to work with.

    I called Capitol One after I was laid off from my job. My credit card was past due, but I made arrangments to make 2 payments per month on a hardship until I got a new job and could make more. I have been making these payments faithfully since I made the arrangements. ALways when I say I would. However within 24 hours of making the scheduled payment I get 6 calls per day wanting another one.

    I have sent a letter and let them know that this was harrassment according to the FDCPA, but it did no good. Today I have already received 3 calls, and it's only 10:45 on a Sunday. They have no one there that speaks English. When I told the lady from Uraguay or wherever she was from that I was going to file a complaint with the BBB and the FTC she just laughed. By the way, al of my other creditors, whom I also called and made payment arrangements are working with me and I have had no problems with them. They should take a lesson from Discover Card

    This is harrassment. I am tired of my phone ringing with the same number showing on call ID, no message left, trying to talk to someone who can't speak English, much less understand it. My nerves are shot. It is bad enough to not be able to pay what I want to pay, but when I do pay all I get is more headaches

    April 2008 my purse and it's contents was stolen. Capital One was contacted immediately. New cards were issued but charges on old card has yet beed credited back. Conversations with your customer service department send my in circles insisting I must talk with one after another persons.

    All we want is the fraudulant charges to be reversed and credited back to us. Is that an impossible request? From our stand point it's must be. We also have another Capital One credit card that was paid off and we have been charged late fees upon late fees and have been charged fees to have your card and the card has been cancelled. Once again can not speak to anyone that speaks or understands the English language. We are not difficult people to deal with, but your customer service reps. are.

    I opened a capital one credit card as a student in college. After several years, I had started to pay the card using my online banking. Now every other month the capital one automatic bill pay system resets my user account, then convienently stops sending my ebill.

    This has cost me several hundred dollars. And once this happens my online account is locked out and I need to spend an hour on the phone to get it unlocked so I can change the password, and reset my online banking. Don't get involved with these people!

    I Got the card in April and Had used it for food and other items. Over the course of time I paided them money. Well in August I put $50.00 on the card. Although it said $47.00. I am very angry with this stupid company. I lost the card got a newone listened on the phone said credit available was $2.00 did not touch the money 2 days later I owe $39.00 which took place on August 28th. I do not understand why. I am having a hard time trusting this company.

    for the past 4 years, I have tried to get old accounts taken off my credit. The credit agencys do the research and send you their findings. And I would send back the information to the credit agency dispusting the accounts. Finding out that capital one has brought the account from the orginial creditor and is trying to collect on a 7to 12 year old debt. And thus making the account look current so that it will not come off, and the credit agencys put it right back on your credit.

    My credit still looks bad. And I can not get my score to go up because of this. Capitol One and the credit agencys refuse to remove that and the old address. And they give out information that is miss leading and not correct.

    I had a $1000 credit limit with capital one for a year, they called me onece to see if I'll be intreted in geting insurance to protect me in case I lose my job. they claimed that if such thing happened they will cover all my bills, so I agreed and got it.

    a couple of months down the line the place where I worke went out of business and I ended up loosing my job. when I neede capital one insurance to help me they denied ever calling me about such insurance and that I was not covered. They wanted me to pay the intire balance do, of $700 but I was unable to pay. This was about five years ago and ever since then I had crediter collection agencys calling and herasing me to pay them $3486. I dont even know how they got to that number my limit was $1000 and I only spent $700 of it

    The $700 dollar that I suposedly owned capital one was sold to collection agencys for the amount of $3486. And know I have Very bad gredit.

    When I make online payment they often are out of service, they are difficult to reach by phone and when phone contact is made, someone from another country answers (usually India). the operators are difficult to deal with and end up trying to sell more of their products.

    Paymens are posted late, sometimes costing a overlimit fee of $39 in my case. Can't use your account until payment is posted always midnight or next day.

    I sent a $1727.45 payment in on my credit card. It was posted on 8/16/08. On 8/22/08 I put $50 on the card and they have charged a $20.85 finance charge on it. I called Capital One and spoke to Jesi and she said there was nothing she could do about it because it was what was left over from the previous month. The balance from the previous month was exactly $1727.45 and that is what I sent in.

    Instead of paying off just the $50.01 that is on my credit card I am now paying $70.86. That is more than the 19.80% finance charge---that is more like 40% finance charge!!!!

    My girlfriend and I got phones through Verizon Wireless a few years back. Since then we receive random phone calls from people saying that we called them. Problem was, we never called any of these people. Capital One did. Somehow Capital One has our phone numbers and calls people, leaving our numbers on their caller ID. With this last one I recorded the number and started to journal it as some sort of record.

    They must have called some of these people a number of times because one person said if I do not stop calling her daughter that she is going to file a harassment suit against me! Thankfully, no real damage has happened yet. It is just annoying and I am becoming sick of this. Hoping that Capital One gets sued for this kind of stuff!

    I contacted Cpitol One after I was laid off from my job, and set up a payment plan of every 2 weeks. I have done that faithfully repaying as promised. Today, so far they have called 4 times, I spoke with a rep once. I made the payment Friday as promised. When I informed the woman whom I could barely understand because she is in Timbucktoo somewhere, I informed her of this repayment plan, told her I had made the scheduled payment and asked her to stop calling. She said they have to do this because the account was past due. I knew that, that is why I set up a repayment plan.

    They are still getting the amount I would have been normally paying, 50.00 a month, ony getting it every 2 weeks instead of once a month. I have sent them a letter letting them know they are bordering on harassment with the constant phone calls. The calls start 1 or 2 days after I make a payment

    This is a headache. They know I am out of work, they know I am making the effort to pay, I could just say forget it, I need to eat more than I need to repay a credit card, but I am making the effort. I is a hardship as my monthly income is 2/3's of what it was, and I need to still pay for necessaties, but I am doing it. Capitol One is driving me nuts. I do not recommend them to anyone who wants to keep their sanity

    Capital One put a freeze on my credit card because I was only a couple of days late with my payment. Nevermind that I told Tracy (Account Manager and 5th person I had spoken with in the last half hour)that I had mailed a $500.00 payment already. Also, the previous month I had made a $600.00 payment and the month before that a $1000.00 payment. My balance wasn't even over $1000.00 for the current billing period.

    They just froze my account with no warning or a phone call and Tracy refused to unfreeze it. They have the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have even encountered! I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, my local consumer advocate TV station, and anyone else I can think of.

    This left me with no usable credit card on a major holiday weekend (Labor Day) since this is the only card I carry.

    I was trying to clean up my credit when online with transunion I got a pre-approval from Capital One for a credit card to re-establish credit. This was misleading to me. Not only did I get denied but an inquiry against my credit brings my score down even more.

    On 2/7/2008 I was alerted by equifax that there was a credit card inquiry for a Capital One credit card. I called Capital One on 2/9/2008 at 6:58 pm notifying them that it was not me trying to open a credit card. I was later informed the credit card was opened by a relative and the card was sent out days after I called Capital One with the dispute.

    I have contacted Capital One in an attempt to get a copy of the transactions that were paid for with this credit card, which is a right as a consumer. After being continuously transferred eventually I am hung up on.

    The credit card bill has reached at least $1,050. Late fees and finance charges continue to pile up on this credit card.

    Capitol One keeps calling me for a past due credit card. I am NOT receiving statements on the account and can't even give you the account number as I don't have the credit card. I have NOT purchased anything on the card in the last number of months yet because I haven't made payments the card is now over the limits and I'm being charge extra for that also.

    For one, I'm retired and losing sleep over the constant calls. I tried to get to talk to a supervisor and they inform me I will have to pay $10.00 extra. I've never heard of such a thing.

    I had a jointly owned (with my girlfriend) credit card issued by Capital One Bank and became unable to keep up with the payments. I entered into an agreement with Capital One that cancelled the card and set me up with a repayment plan. That was over a year ago. I never heard back from Capital One, never received a statement, and my account with them became Restricted and I was unable to even request information about my plan, the balance, interest, or anything. Note that my girlfriend, who was joint owner of the card, offered to make payments as well, but was never provided with a statement or means to do so.

    According to some research, cutting off a customer's ability to make payments is a common practice with Capital One, as is suing customers who have all but had their ability to pay taken away. Now I am being sued by Capital One for almost seven-thousand dollars plus any additional accrued interest, which is not specified anywhere in the complaint - so I do not even know how much money I am being sued for. All attempts to contact them have failed, resulting in the same Your account is restricted to you message. I have not received any communication from them and cannot access any records of my own to prove any of this one way or another, crippling any attempts I could possibly make at representing myself in court.

    According to the complaint, this lawsuit could result in a Special Civil Part Officer [seizing my] money, wages or personal property to pay all or part of the judgment. I seriously doubt everything I own, 1999 Hyundai included, is worth seven thousand dollars, let alone seven thousand dollars plus whatever interest I apparently owe. I am a college student about to finish a Bachelor's degree, employed by my college as a tutor (non-work study), and have no permanent residence outside of seasonally living on campus. I simply cannot afford to be caught in some lawsuit scam that keeps an already massive bank afloat during an economic downturn.

    My grandson who was 18 at the time got a CapitalOne Credit Card with a credit limit of $300.00. He made regular payments on the card until 11/07. He works construction and delivered furniture to make a living. He did not have work in the winter. He was late on a payment. CapitalOne started to charge late fees and interst. He could no longer make the payment. My grandson has a father somewhere and a mother with mental probelms. He is on his own. He came to me for help. I called CapitalOne to try and settle the account. Remember the limit was $300 the card now has a balance of $620.00, it is in collection.

    Emily wanted $530 to settle that $230 more than the principal amount in 9 months. I had my grandson sell his truck, a 84 Chevy pick-up truck, that I gave him, that we used on the farm. It was mess, but driveable. The truck sold for $450 which is what I offered CapitalOne. Emily flat refused the money. She wanted $530 not a penny less. CpaitalOne has placed this on my grandson's credit file as a colleciton item, and told me on 8/27/08 that if the bill was not paid they would file for judgement. I really don't understand this company.

    Why would a company of this size not try to help people after they give a teenager without a job, still in highschool a credit card and accept not to have probelms. No wonder the credit card business has to be baled out my the taxpayer. Employers now pull credit files to see if you are a creditable person, the CapitalOne people really don't care what they do to these kids. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Genral of the State of Missouri. I have written a letter to Mr.Fairbanks the CEO of CapitalOne. I have emailed the Press of CapitalOne.

    I have heard from no-one! I will reamin frim that I will not pay these people more than $450. The lesson to my grandson, he lost his transportaion, he now rides a bike. He understands that Credit Cards are not a good thing. It has been a hard lesson for him to learn. I think he has been punished enough.

    The CapitalOne account is now in collections and on his credit file. He sold his transportation to pay it off. CapitalOne will not settle.

    I am being sued by Capitol One, but North Star Capital Acquisition is suing me for $1073.74. I am on a fixed income. I cannot pay this. This debt started out as $500 and over the course of about 5 years I have not been able to pay it as the amount kept getting higher and higher.

    This debt has gone from one collector to another over these 5 years and I have not been able to pay it and now I am being sued. I have been told North Star Capitol Acquisition is a scam. Is there anything can be done to help me. I may end up losing my place to live if I have to give them my rent money. I am disabled and do not know what I can do. I do not have money for an attorney, but if there is one that can talk to me they can call me.

    I moved to another province and forgot my credit card in Manitoba. I phoned the 1-800 on the back of my card and reported that I had left my card back at the ohter place. I requested another card. My requested was fullfilled and he then proceeded to tell me that within 5-7 business day my card would be in the mail. On the 6th day I received my card as specified. I then proceeded to phone the number on the back of the credit card to activate my new card. My call was asnswered in a prompt and curtious manner. I requested my card be activated.

    She then aquired all the right information then proceeded to tell me that she could not help me because there was a speical case coordinator that she would have to transfer me to. A answering picked up my call, then I left all information for her to return my call. Two days later there was still no rely to my call. I then phoned the 1-800 number to see if there was any progress being made on my card. I then again told the person working for Capital One my situation, was put on hold and hold and hold. Then to my surprise another operater came on and asked me the same previous questions.

    I explained calmly once again my scenero and was once again transfered to a answering machine. I then phoned the day after, it was a dejae view of the previous phone calls. On Monday morning of the following week I called Capital One's 800 number. The exact conversations were disucussed and there was no solution to my problem.

    10/10/2007 - paid $1600.00 by check to Capitol One credit card account. 06/06/08 - Message left by phone by United Recovery Systems, LP stating my Capitol One account was in delinquency. I never knew the account was in delinquency and was never informed through any paperwork prior to the phone call. It was a Friday and late in the day and tried to call the next day on Saturday but the office was closed.

    06/10/08 - I called back Ms. Karen F. at United Recovery Systems, LP and was told that my Capitol One account was in delinquency and needed to pay the amount of $2,693.44 or will suffer negative credit reports. I explained to her that I paid the account balance off on 10/10/07 with a check but she stated that Capitol One never received the check. I tried to ask her for a little more time to prove that I paid the balance off but she said that I needed to pay the $2,693.44 now. So in fear of my credit being affected, I immediately sent an official check of $2,693.44 to United Recovery Systems, LP. I was also told that I would receive a detailed statement in the next few days.

    06/20/08 - I sent a letter to United Recovery Systems, LP stating I owed nothing to Capitol One and paid off the balance on 10/10/07. Enclosed I sent a copy of the check that Capitol One deposited on 10/10/07. The check proves that Capitol One received the check and took my money on 10/10/07. I was also inquiring if I would be returned the $2,693.44 and also that I have still not received any statements from Capitol One or United Recovery Systems, LP. Most importantly, I was asking if my credit score was affected or not. 07/14/08 - I still received no contact from United Recovery Systems, LP or Capitol One. I sent the same letter to United Recovery Systems, LP containing the copy of the check that was deposited on 10/10/07 by Capitol One. I also stated in the letter that I would take legal action.

    07/17/08 - I finally received a call from Ms. Karen F. from United Recovery Systems, LP. She stated that she had received the letter both times on 06/20/08 and 07/14/08 but there was no proof of the enclosed deposited check by Capitol One. She told me I was lying but I made copies and copies of everything I have sent or received. She told me to fax the necessary documents to her that day. I immediately faxed the copy of the deposited check by Capitol One on 10/10/07.

    08/23/08 - Since 07/17/08 I have had (3) credit cards cancelled by the issuing companies. All three stating the following reasons, serious delinquency and amount owed on delinquent accounts. I have had no problems with these other credit cards but they are being affected because of this situation with United Recovery Systems, LP and Capitol One.

    I still have received no reply from Capitol One or United Recovery Systems, LP. I am confused about the situation because none of it makes sense. From what I know, I have made timely payments and for some reason Capitol One and United Recovery Systems, LP think that I have not paid anything. I am trying to get my $2,693.44 returned to me because I should have no delinquent account because I paid off my account on 10/10/07. Most importantly this situation has affected my credit score. I am a consumer with over an 800 credit score and now this event has destroyed my credit and I am seeking to restore it back to its original state.

    I have had (3) credit cards canceled by the following: Macy's, Fry's Electronics, and Bank of America. Each of the creditors stated the factors for cancellation are serious delinquency and amount owed on delinquent accounts. The problem should have been resolved by now. I am also trying to get my $2,693.44 returned to me. My biggest concern is that my credit score was over 800 prior to this event and no it is negatively affected and I wish it to be returned to its normal state.

    I have been a Capital one card holder for years, prob. since I was old enough to have a card? I have had little problems. Thus because I only use my card for purchases, that I pay off every month. A few years back Payment protection started taking cash out of my account without authorization. So, I called and went threw 50 hoops to fix, and get credits. It was not so big of a deal then because it was only a few bucks here and there. Thats when I was not making a lot, and not spending a lot.

    Recently I have noticed they are still taking money from my card every month. Now, as I make a lot more, I spend a lot more. They have been taking Hundreds of dollars from me. So I have called complained, have put holds on my card, you name it. They still take money out of my account.

    Payment Protection is an insurance company that is in affiliation with Capital one. Although they are not the same company. Whenever I call, they just intentionally give me the run around to get me to hang up, or they will hang up on me. These are fraud charges that they will not file. They as a credit card company are required to file, with your request.

    Well they take your money. They have poor customer service (take my time).

    On MArch 29th, I made a wire transfer payment from Capital One card to my discover card. I kept calling for 2 weeks after that to make sure the other party recieved the check. Two weeks later the money had been debitted from Capital One, but was not reflecting on my Discover card. I tried to dispute the amount of 450.00, but capital one said they couldn't because the check had already been cashed. I called both companies and they said it was going to be a while for the money to reflect on Discover card.

    A month passed, I called Discover card. They said they needed a copy of the cancelled check. CApital One sent me the check and I sent it to Discover. 3 weeks after that, Discover sends me the letter that the check wasn't cashed by them. I called Capital One back. Linda from the fraud dept told me to write to the address that the payment was sent. I asked her why she couldn't do it because it happened from the capital one website and she freaked out on me telling, You are making it sound like I am not trying to help you, but I am giving you the address. I asked her to send me another copy of the cancelled check, which she didn't. It has been 3 weeks since I sent a letter to the address she gave me, and I got no reply.

    I have been working on this issue since March. $450.00 is a lot of money for me. I am trying to live debt free and mantain good credit standing. This incident has already stressed me down and to be talked down on, by Linda was even more aggravating. CApital One boast of fraud protection, but they did nothing for my case. I even tried to dispute the amount. They said they couldn't do it because the check has already been cashed. Moreover, the fraud dept works on the week days and closed on the weekends. So after a stressful day at work, I have to come home and carry on a stressful conversation with these people who are so inconsiderate of whaat has just happened.

    I have a card from 2004 they started to collect on. The credit limit was 200 dollars. I did not pay on it(my bad)I was young and stupid. So now 4yrs later they are trying to collect. The bill is 1400! I paid them 800 and then ignored there calls. I told myself i was not paying another dime! Then they are sueing me for 600bucks! So I had to pay them. They are terrible and i hope they go out of business!

    I have been attempting to get 2 Capital One credit cards off my credit report due to fraud. My lawyer has demanded a copy of all documents with my purported signature. There is no document with my signature. It has been 22 months, a new person every time I call, over 1000 pages of documents faxed. I continue to get transferred to at least 6 or 8 people every time I call. NO ONE HAS A SUPERVISOR...DO THEY ALL OWN CAPITAL ONE? How do you get to anyone that can resolve this?

    Poor credit rating. Can not get another a real credit card. Could not get a car loan.

    My husband opened a Capital One credit card in 2005. I am an authorized user on the account. This is very embarrassing that I am going to disclose this information, but we are out of options. We had maxed the card limit ($10,000) and then payed it off in 2007. Unfortunately, we maxed the card limit in the past year again due to financial difficulties. Our monthly minimum payment became too large for us to afford. I was late on a payment or two, but wanted to make sure I was paying something.

    When I realized we weren't going to be able to afford to pay the minimums anymore and noticed that even though I was making payments before, we weren't getting the balance to go anywhere, I called Capital One to see if they'd work with us and set up payment arrangements or something. They told me that they had no programs for us and that we'd have to come up with several hundred dollars in order to get caught up. Well, there was absolutely no way we could do that. I told them it was too bad they weren't willing to work with us or anyone in financial hardship because they were probably not going to get anything repaid. I guess I thought they would take whatever we could pay until we were better off.

    Citibank, on the other hand was wonderful and set us up on a plan to pay that card off with no hitch. They were incredible to work with and couldn't believe I was having this much trouble with Capital One. Yesterday, my husband received a phone call from NCO stating we were in pre-legal status and needing to take action on this debt. I called the gentleman back and explained that I had tried to work something out with Capital One before it got to this point. He said Capital One is a very high risk credit company and that they get ugly when it comes to collecting.

    We understand this is our debt and are fully prepared to repay it somehow. The gentleman said if we can pay 30% on the card in one payment then we can make $50 payments every month thereafter. He said the over-limit fees and late fees would subside but the interest would still accrue. $50 per month wouldn't even make a dint in the balance because of all the interest that will be added each month. We thought we could do that until we got caught up on everything else and my husband or myself make more money. The problem is coming up with the 30%.

    Capital One has shown that they really are not a no-hassle company. They are threatening to put a judgment out for my husband. I asked them what could happen from that point. They said our bank account could be frozen, wages garnished and several other things that would not be good for a family of 5. We have 3 children and can not have this happen. What do we do?

    Capital One has, yet again, charged a late fee to my account when the payment was well above the minimum required and paid well before the due date. This particular instance, the statement date was from June 20 to July 19. The minimum payment was $15 due Aug 13. I paid $190 on 7/7, $40 on 7/18, and I found myself with some extra cash so paid an additional $30 on 7/18. That is a total of $260 over the billing period. Last time I did my math, that is more that $15 and I do believe that 7/18 and 7/7 are both before 8/13.

    A charge of $39 was charged to my account on 8/13. This charge was labeled as a late fee. I talked to some Indian guy that could not understand why I was complaining saying that my payments were for the previous month. I don't know how he came up with that one. He ended up hanging up on me.

    I then called back and talked to someone named Linda. I believe she was trying to be helpful but said that my account did not exist in the system. I'm not sure where my account went between talking to the Indian guy and Linda but she looked by account number, name and social and said it did not exist. I asked if this indicated that I did not have to make any more payment to Capital One but she would not confirm this. This issue as not yet been resolved. Late charges have been charged to by account like this before and none have been resolved.

    $39 for each instance but not sure exactly how many times they have done this. Would need to go over my statements to check for sure.

    I received my capitol one card about 6 months ago - the first month no problem; the second month I was 1 day late in paying the card, they threw on a 49 dollar late fee (fine, it was after all my own fault I was a day late in paying), but by doing that it put my card over the limit in which they threw on another 39. Over limit fee. I was a bit irritated, but alright I paid the balance in full; Capitol One then placed a ten day hold on my card, but never informed me of this. So thinking there was a positive credit balance my husband placed 2.95 cent charge on it. Capitol One turned and placed another 39 dollar over limit fee, which they refused to take off at that I was hung up on twice, and no I wasnt being rude.

    The last 4 months I have not been over the limit or late on my payments; this last time I was actually 8 days early and they have still placed a hold on the card, every month. And every time I call all I get told is we're allowed to place holds on any account when we choose, ma'am Even from the supervisor and then thank you for calling Capital one - click

    Whats that? The customer pays the bill on time and in full and still gets penalized?

    Needless to say the account will be canceled but now after reading some of these other complaints; I am worried I am going to end up with other problems!!!

    I only got this card to help clean up my credit - but what a huge mistake that was; I recommend to anyone who is reading this - DO NOT GET A CAPITAL ONE CARD. There are so many hidden fees and they take full advantage of every one of them. And watch your statement very closly, I have been billed 2-3 times for the same transaction, this has happened multiple times.

    I paid off my credit card balance in full (sent a check for $5064.30) and closed the account. Apparently I short paid by $200 and was unaware. Eight months later after no phone calls and no statements I was contacted to say I owe more than $450 and would be reported as a "charge-off" to credit agencies if I did not pay within 8 days.

    I was charged over $250 ($35 a month in late charges and interest expense) on a balance I did not know existed and it took me two phone calls just to find out how the balance was arrived at. Cost me $450 to settle a $200 bill I did not know existed. Only paid under threat of "this will be reported as a settlement on your credit report".

    I do not have any account of the bank. But someone opened two fake accounts and seemed to have taken out the money from the bank.

    Since about a year ago, the bank requesting payment as if I had an account with it. But it is a fraud.

    james A. West, P.C. again wrote to me again to pay. About a week ago, I wrote to me the debt. Now it asks me to pay $15451.52 Although I wrote to his office that the account was fradulent one.

    ID thieves seem to have applied the account and stolen the money that I have nothing to do with the bank.

    After my experience with Capital One in the past two years, I have to warn everyone reading this to stay away from Capital One at all costs! They are, without a doubt, the most inept, incompetent, crooked company one could ever deal with.

    For starters, in 2007 they raised my fixed interest rate from 4.99% to 9.98%. Never mind that I have near perfect credit, and have never missed or been late on a payment with them OR any other creditor. (If this is how they treat people with excellent credit, I'd hate to see how they treat people with marginal credit!).

    Since then, I've also been getting random letters from Capital One, responding to alleged requests from me for copies of billing statements that I in fact never requested. When I call them to inquire about this, they also have no record of me requesting any such statements. Which makes sense, since in fact I didn't request these statements. But that begs the question, Then why did this get mailed to me?!? Of course, the trained, non-English speaking monkeys at Capital One don't have any clue why I would get copies of billing statements I never requested. They said it must be some kind of computer error. Oh, really?!? Makes me wonder what other kinds of computer errors they make!

    Quite frankly, I'm scared of Capital One. They are SO incompetent and clueless, that I'm afraid of what kind of random errors their ancient computer systems might make that ultimately screws up my excellent credit. Because I know that if I ever DO have a problem with them, their non-existent customer service will be of no help. I have a $15,000 credit limit with Capital One right now, with $0 balance. Nonetheless, I log into my account WEEKLY just to make sure no mysterious charges show up. Yes, I am THAT distrustful of Capital One! And yeah, I suppose I could just cancel the account. But closing a credit card account negatively effects your credit rating.

    I'm just wondering how come Capital One hasn't had its proverbial pants sued off yet. I mean, how on EARTH can a company like this stay in business?!?

    In Jan 08, I received a Capital One Credit card Mailer offering a: 0 annual fees, 0 transfer fee and 0% APR on all Balances transferred for life of transfer. I applied online and received an approval for this credit card and my balance transfer in Feb 08. I also validated the advertisement with a customer serv. during activation.

    In Mid April 08, I received a letter stating that Capital One had made an error with my new account and that I in fact would be charged 5.99 interests starting in June 08 to all balances transferred, showing on my July statement.

    I contacted a Capital One's account specialist John on April 24th at 11:25 am. He explained that the letter sent was in fact an error; there was no record of letter being sent and for me to disregard this letter but to keep an eye on my account. If I were to be charged this interest to call and an investigation would begin as well as any charges made would be credited back to my account and the account I signed up for would stay in place.

    I received July's statement and have been charged the 5.99APR.

    I called Capital One Aug 12 2008 @ 12:37 pm. I spoke with 4 reps and the 4th being Account Manager Jennifer who was extremely rude and lacked any concern for what your previous specialist assured me to be accurate information. She explained that it didn't matter what any rep may have claimed and that an investigation had already been made. The letter I received trumps/breaches any and all previous contracts that may have been signed and she cannot change the interest rate and I should just deal with it! I am extremely upset and expect your company to honor what you offer your customer. I have excellent credit and have never missed a payment, I could have chosen any other offer but I chose Capital One. I would have never opened an account if I knew this was a fraudulent advertisement both via mail and internet.

    I have asked Jennifer to close my account until an agreement can be reached.

    I applied for a balance transfer from Capital One Credit Card. I was declined the transfer on June 3,2008 because the balance transfer request exceeded the available credit on the card. On June 18th I received a letter from Capital One informing me that they did a balance transfer for 2,800.00 to the oringinal tranfer I requested. I received a bill from Capital One dated for the period from June 6 - July 5, 2008 showing the 2800.00 balance tranfer with 0% interest (which is the reason I applied for the card to begin with. I paid the minimum payment of $90.00. Today, August 12th, I received a new bill from Capital One. It shows my payment of $90.00. On this bill there is an interest rate that is now being applied to my balance tranfer at the rate of 14.90%.

    I call Capital One to find out why, and the first rpresentative said to me that the rate was increased...with no other explanation. I asked to speak with her manager. The manager simply repeated what the fisst representative told me. NOT ONLY was I NOT TOLD about the Transfer Fee hike, but I NEVER received any correspondence as to the rate change.

    My damage, is a 14.90 percent interest rate on my balance tranfer.

    When I applied to the Capital One, I was transferring from a card that my rate was 7.9%. I would never have applied or tranfered money to a card that the interest rate was hihgher that the one I started with... My damage is that I have no recourse. And I will now be paying an outrageous fee, that I didn';t ask for, and WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF.

    I had a Capital One Credit Card that required a yearly fee. Last year I called them to cancel the account so I would not have to pay the renewal few as I no longer needed the account. I just received a notice that my account is a month late and I now owe not only the yearly fee but a late charge. I have no idea if I received any bills previous to this latest statement, I was not looking for one as I thought the account was closed.

    I called them and they said they will close the account but I still owe them the amount on the account. When I said, I do not understand how I can owe anything they said the account was not closed last year, even though it showed that they had waved the yearly fee last year. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told that I would have to do any more correspondence via mail in writing.

    I have heard of other people having problems with Capital One but I never thought this would happen.

    August 11, 2008 , I received a call from a man stating he was calling from capital ones fraud department-# on my caller id this was the #1-804--the man asked if my phone # corresponded with the # on my account or my brother daniel Capital one account. He further asked if i lived on fulton street. I was perplexed as to why capital one would be calling to confirm such information, I told the caller I would call capital one directly . I called capital one immediately after I hung up .

    First agents i spoke to were mike(fraud department) and hakeem, I asked if a call had been place to me by capital One to request information, no one could answer whether this was a capital one # calling, I asked if this was common practice by capital one to request information by phone, no answer was provided. I called the fraud hotline directly after being placed on hold for 10 minutes by mike. I spoke to Lenord, who submitted me to an hour long answer and question routine regarding my background. At which point I found myself able to ask him if someone had used my credit card. he indicated that their had been a high volume of inquiry calls placed to my account and capital one belived someone may have tried to access my personal information.

    I requested repeatedly throughout the call that my card be canceled due to the nature of this circumstance. I was told by leonord that a fraud report had been filed and that I would need to be transfered to customer service to Mary an account manager who would close my account for me, during the tranfer we were disconnected. Once again I called capital one , I realized my account # had been changed , i spoke to roger in the customer service department and he indicated to me that my account could not be closed that a restriction had been placed to this account.

    I asked to be transffered to the fraud department again to see what had happend, I spoke to Rachel, Rachel was not in the mood to talk to any one she simply put me on hold, transfered me to Shanne another account manager, she explained that the reason my account could not be closed was due to a pending investigation, this was confirmed by Leela A fraud agent who indicated it would be 30-60 days before I could close this account and that a new card with new # was mailed to mailed to me;which I did not request and told to over 6 people at capital one.

    I am filling this complaint because I feel capital one may have jeopardized my personal information , and also to request assistance in closing this account immediately. Not only do I feel strongly that capital one may have made subject to some of identity theft; they have behaved unprofessionaly towards me , did not care about my request and their customer service agent and fraud agents were for the most part unknowledgeable. That Is why I am requesting assistance in the closure of this credit account. I have filed a fraud alert with the credit buruea confirmation.

    My sister got 2 letters the same month from Capital One. The envelopes look real, they have color on them. But the letters have a different mailing address and zip. And when you look up the address up on whitepages it's not an address. And the phone number isn't real. But when you call it, they want to verify your info. And they do ask for your SSN, but my sister hangs up.

    What this letter says: Dear Sherry, My name is Tashamda G. and I have been trying to contact you concerning a possible fraudulent Capital One account that has recently been opened using some or all of your personal information. You may be a victim of identity theft in which your personal information (such as your SSN) could have been used by someone else to obtain credit. Capital One would like to correct this matter before any possible damage can be done to your credit history. The Customer Fraud Protection department at Capital One is currently handling the matter and I have been assigned to your case and will assist you in correcting this issue. Capital One would like to provide you with additional information to assist you....Please remember to contact Capital One as soon as possible, so that we can handle this matter. Your prompt response to this matter will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Tashamda G. Customer Fraud Protection

    That was the whole letter. Now my sister has never had an acct with this company. I need to know if this is a fake letter. The letters look to be copied, not the real thing. They are black and white. Normally Capital One sends out colored letters. So, we were just wondering if you can find anything out about it. I can't find out anything. Thanks for your help.

    First of all, I am so expasperated with calling Capital One personal and small business customer service.
    First of all, I registered online, giving a user name and password.

    This was created 2/20/08.

    Everytime I try to access the account, I get rejected stating the information is incorrect.
    I have been soooo...angry when calling customer service in behalf of password information.
    The accounts are in my husband's name and I understand confidential information, BUT I pay all bills, use the computer, paying all bills for personal and business.

    I yelled into the phone at both the customer service rep plus his supervisor.

    I asked for tech support and eventhough I created the username and password, I was given the old Since the card owner has not authorized you for information on this account, you are denied.
    I explained that I am the one accesses the internet information and pays ALL the bills, but still no information.

    My husband will advise to give me access to his personl account.

    I have a new account with Capital One. When the statement came, I paid the amount in full. Capital One has taken the payment from my bank account but they have put a hold on the payment so I cannot use my credit card for 10 business days. I can understand putting a new account on hold until they get the money but after the money has been taken from my bank account, where is the justification?

    This is like taking money without giving a receipt for 10 days. So, during these 10 business days, Capital One essentially has my money so that they can play around with it (get interest on it). This has got to be illegal. All automatic payments that I have scheduled with this card are now being rejected. I am unable to use the credit card.

    have applied for this High interest rate card ONLY to help restore my credit after being injured and unfortunately having to file bankruptcy 2 years ago. Now, I am on Permanent SS disability since the injury but I have MADE MOST, if not ALL, payments in a timely manner to capitol one for this card, that is obviously WHY they INCREASED my credit limit from $300 to $600 over a year ago! Yet, despite 2 bogus on-line credit card charges last month that capitol one refunded to me and rightfully so, this mix-up put me over my $600 credit limit inadvertantly.

    I just yesterday send them a secure e-mail and TOLD them specifically that I won''t be able to make my payment this one time on the 5th of August (the due date) and ask them in good faith to please NOT to access my account with ANY further fees, as they already assessed my account with a $29 over the limit fee, yet when I logged into my account this morning , AUG 6th , I was shocked to see that Capitol One had assessed my account with TWO additional charges of $29, now making the total in fees $87!

    I have NO intentions of paying these exorbitant fees, especially after I had the courtesy to contact the customer service dept and expelin myself and KINDLY ask them to waive any fees , as I am on a fixed income and also always pay my bill way ahead of time, and this is the thanks I get! They lack any compassion for their card holders even there are extenuating cricumstances of WHY a payment ONE TIME would have to be late! I will also be contacting The OTS, OCC, and the NJ attorney General's office for this outlandish practice that they are getting away time and time again.

    Continued Finacial Hardships because of these EXCESSIVE repeated fees being assessed especially these last 3 -$29 charges. That's $87! I only have a $600 credit limit! This is EXTORTION!

    I have been having automatic drafts come out of my bank account for many months to pay the minimum payment on one of my Capital One credit cards; however, last month the payment was returned due to insufficient funds. A few days later, I realized that this had happened, so I went online and made an immediate payment to take care of that missed payment.

    A few days later, I noticed when I went online to make sure it had gone through that instead of the usual $45 minimum payment being due, it stated that I needed to pay $203.65 and that I had no available credit. That seemed very odd to me since I assumed that I would just be charged a $39 returned check fee on my next bill. So, I called last week to speak to someone about this and the person I spoke to said that it DID seem odd to her as well and she would look into it. She said she would get back to me and let me know.

    I received a message from someone over the weekend, and when I called this afternoon to check on the status of my account, I was told that not only did I owe the large amount of $203.65, but it was also showing up as 70 days past due! I asked to speak to an account manager and was told the same thing and that there is nothing that can be done. This is wrong and I told them just that. They don't care and I was told that I had gotten as far up in the company as I could go (by this time, I had spoken to my 4th person and I believe her name was Claire--they should have notes on the situation, but I am not sure).

    I do not want this to show up as 70 days past due on my credit record--I have a bad enough one as it is and this is just going to bring me down from fair to poor. I want to know if I have any recourse. This is absolutely ridiculous and half the people I spoke to (who put me through to someone else higher up) thought so as well...they could not explain why it was the way it was and had never seen anyone's account like that. Please tell me that I can fight this. By the way, I canNOT afford to pay 3x the amount of my minimum payment on the next due date (August 18th). Thank you.

They have automated calls with recorded messages that call at night and on weekends, when you can not even call back because the return number office is only open Monday through Friday during business hours. They also have people call during the day.

    Apparently, from all that I can glean from Capital One Bank, Capital One Bank has associated my phone number with a guy by the name of Kim Haungh (sic), who apparently lives in a different state, and has an account with Capital One Bank. They have called well over a hundred times since I got my phone. They are rude, hateful, and accusatory.

    On occasion, I get to talk to a supervisor. Sometimes a supervisor figures out what I am trying to tell them and he will say that he will remove my phone number from this Haungh's account. However, a week or so later the hate calls start anew. I do no now, nor have I ever, had an account or credit card with Capital One Bank. I do not know why they are terrorizing my life. I do not know what to do to stop them from terrorizing my life.

    I am nervous and distressed at this long term harassment. Every time the phone rings I fear it is Capital One Bank calling again. What can I do? Please help me.

    My credit card was stolen I realized the card was missing in January of 08 to my surprise a gentleman informed me that I couldn't get my card resent to me because it was over the limit. But the person was still able to go to the bank and receive cash money. The gentleman informed me that he would send all this information to fraud and he informed me to continue making payments. Because I used the card but only for emergencies.

    Well in May 08 I decided to call to my surprise it wasn't reported so I report it again and I got it done. Well now the agent Sabrina added all my charges back to my account because she said I called in to increase my credit amount, I called in to check my balance, and I continued to pay on my account. So she wasn't going to take off the charges she had reached her decision. Not to mention it went on my credit report anyway. So I am at a lost of what to do. I didn't make these purchases. So please help me.

    I can't pay for this. I want them to credit my account. I haven't been able to sleep or rest. This is the only thing of my mind until I get this resolved.

    Numerous phone calls (all passed down to outscourced subordinates). I sent reg mail July 25/08. No response. CapitalOne's recent decision to deny me creditat this time appears to be somewhat unreasonable. A recent sequence of events (June/July) appear to the deciding factor as a base for this decision. During thiis period, I specificallyofficialy applied for a CapitalOne Platinum Prestige Card After phone discussions with application reps (INDIA) to determine card best suited to my needs, I eventually consumated a formal application on line, latter part of June.

    Several weeks later July 20th I recieved a card. Immediatly following activation of said card I realized it was not the card I had requested. All my attempts via phone (INDIA) to get this error corrected resulted in total confusion also mis-information from Rep. Comparisons of the card sent, and the card requested, clearly indcate per advertised details specific differences. This according to reps did make any difference..? After Lengthly conversations with rep's I was told to re-submit an application for the Initial card I had requested and to immediatly cance card sent to me.

    Immediatly submitting the new application as advised..It was Rejected. After Another phone conversation rep advised me I would not be able get a card due to the fact I had cancelled the previous one? This was followed up with an No signature form letter via mail telling me I was denied a card. No Expalnations. I have excellent credit history, confirmed over 700. Never carry an outstanding balance. All my normal financial dealings are with Wachovia Securties exclusivly for over 20 yrs.

    Basicaly deprived/refused use of Highly marketed/recommended credit card.(Whats in your Wallet!).

    I requested that my interest rate be dropped from 24.90% due to an excellent payment record for the past several years. I was denied because the representative told me i did not use the card enough. I was not using the card because I was trying to pay it off. I then used the card a few times over the next few months and then again called to ask for a interest rate reduction.

    This time i was thanked for my years of prompt payments but they could not drop my rate because 24.90% is the lowest rate they could offer I asked her what about all the commercials on TV about low interest rates from Capitol one? I was told again that my current rate of 24.90% was as low as I could get. No explanation of why. I have an $1800.00 credit limit, I pay on time and I do not go over my limit why is it legal to charge me this loan shark rate?

    I would also like to know why Capitol one charges a payment fee to make a payment by phone, I sent the payment? I am continuing to try and pay off this card but compounded intrest at 24.90% even with the card cut up, I will end up paying back twice as much as I charged. How can this be legal?

    I just received my card and set up my account online, but could not pay. I called and was told my card was restriced giving me no reason. I was told to send documents which were not explained to me. I am mailing the balance and then cancelling my account. I have excellent credit. this company is bad.

    3 months ago, an ACH (electronic) withdrawl was taken from my checking account by Capital One. I filed a claim with my bank and eventually got my money back. I was told Capital One was blocked from further withdrawls. The sneaky fools then sent another debit as an electronic check, this time overdrawing my account during a home purchase. Yesterday they got me again, as I am finalizing my home purchase.

    The last 2 debits were disputed and I will (eventually) get my money back. The funny part of all this is, I DON'T HAVE A CAPITAL ONE ACCOUNT. I tried to call them on each occasion. Last night I spoke to 9 different people in India and the USA with no help. Today I closed my bank account and have to start over. Capital One will NEVER be in my wallet.

    Overdrawn checking account and negative bank statement during a home purchase process (bank statements are required and I have to explain a negative final balance). Numerous lost hours tring to resolve the problem with Capital One. The time associted with closing bank accounts and moving automatic payments and direct deposits. Refusal of Capital One to discuss the problem since I am not one of their customers. If I have a case, please let me know.

    What's in your wallet? Garbage...Capital One uses any and every dirty debt collector they can find. Each one that I have been forced to deal with is on the shortlist of deceptive and fraudulent debt collectors, from United Recovery to Forster & Garbus. Capital One has repeatedly violated the Fair Debt Collections Act and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it. I asked their debt collector United Recovery to not contact me at my place of employment because we are not allowed to take personal calls and they were told this repeatedly by the receptionist and yet they continued to call. Forster & Garbus were contacted via letter regarding settlement and they ignored that part of the letter. Do not allow Capital One to dirty your wallet! I came close to losing my job and my reputation.

    They charged my 87 year old Mom overlimit fee of $29.00, then it was credited per my request, then she was charged $39.00 overlimit fees ( she did not charge to limit). Now they refuse to reverse the charge, also her interest has increased and she pays on time each month. I asked them to let her know how much the monthly payment should be so that she does not incurr these excessive overlimit fees. The never responded to that question, only that her account was overlimit due to a $68.00 charge (which is interest!). We correspond by email to this company.

    My mom wants to pay this bill, but with these charges we cannot get the balance down so that our payments make a difference. Plus my mother only gets social security. It is really a hardship.

    In 2006, I accepted a Capital One credit card, but after being repeatedly overcharged I paid my bill in full, cut up the card and mailed it back to the company along with a letter stating I no longer wanted their card or their service. Sometime thereafter I received a new bill for $0.31 so I mailed them a check for 31 About a month later I received a refund check for 31. Then in May I received a new bill from this notorious corporation for a $39 membership fee. I ignored it until I received a new bill for $71.25 in July.

    When I called the 800 number to complain I was told the bill was legitimate because customers are not allowed to cancel their service by returning the card with a letter stating that the service was no longer needed. You have to call in to cancel your service, the customer representative told me. He said you cant cancel by letter, or by cutting the card up and returning it, the only acceptable method allowed is by calling in to cancel so I now owe Capital One over $71 for a card I dont have and they continue to add on additional service charges every month. Corporations like Capital One make their money the easy way, they steal it and file credit reports on anyone unwilling to comply with their deceitful demands.

    My credit has been damaged. I am forced to pay higher interest rates than I should have too. In March I purchase a Ford truck at an interest rate of 6.9% when other customers were paying zero interest.

    I was contacted by Capital One stating that my card had been fraudulently used in February. Based on this info, I cancelled my credit card and was re-issued a new number. Subsequently, I filled out an affidavid about the fraudulent charges. I did not hear from Capital One for some time. During that time, I tried contacting some of the companies listed as fraudulent charges. Quiznos sub refunded $ 324.73 back to my cc, after researching it and concluding that it was a fraudulent charge. During that time Capital One also removed a few very low amounts from Yahoo voice as fraudulent charges.

    By May 2008, 2 other fraudulent charges, amounting to 167.08, had still not been removed, so I contacted Captal One. I was told they had not received my affidavid, so I faxed it again. In June, I received a letter, dated May 30, 2008, stating that the charges had been considered NOT fraudulent. I strongly dispute that! There is no doubt that these charges sre fraudulent, and I have tried to contact the Customer Fraud Investigator, Mytear J. at Capital One, numerous times. I have left 4 voicemail messages that have never been returned, my wife has left 2 messages that have never been returned.

    Further, I have contacted someone else in the Customer fraud department, who claimed that only Mytear J. could deal with this situation, that there was no supervisor I could talk to, and in the end, he transferred me - yet again- to Mytear J.'s voicemail, where I left another message that was never returned. Two other times, I have contaced the fraud department to resolve this matter, and after being shuffled around and put on hold for over 1 hour, I was transferred again to Mytear J.

    To date, I still have not been contacted and the charges are still active, and I am being charged interests. I really wish to resolve this matter, and would appreciate any help or suggestions you could give me.

    I am being charged interest, and I do not want to pay the $ 167.08 in fraudulent charges.

    I opened my Capital One account back in 2004. In 2007 I fell for one of those credit repair companies to help fix my credit. Up until this time I was not behind on my Capital one account. In April 2008, I received a letter from capital one with a summons to go to court. I called my credit repair company and was told not to worry about it. That this was what credit card companies did to scare you. After receiving a second notice, I called capital one myself and was told this was very real and they would be taking me to court unless i paid balance in full of $1700.

    I spoke to Tina McClinthen at capital one who is a recovery specialist and told her that there was no way i could come up with $1700 all at once and asked if I could pay $1000 now and make payments of $100 a month on all the rest to avoid going to court. She said I could send if I wanted to, but they would still take me to court. Well I had other accounts owed that this credit repair company screwed me on who were willing to accept the money so I paid them off instead.

    It went to court in April and they were given a judgement of $1900 plus interest. So I received the letter in the mail and called them back. Again I spoke to Tina McClinthen. She said that I would have to make a minimum monthly payment of at least 10% of balance. I'm a stay at home mom who babysits one other child. I make $125 a week. I told her that the most I could pay would be $50 a month but my husband leaves for deployment soon and I could use his extra money each month to start paying $200 a month. I was told that I could send them $50 a month but it would not be enough to keep it from going back to court.

    On July 3rd, 2008 my husband and I both tried to use our personal bank atm cards( not capital one) and were declined. Upon callng our bank, we were notified that capital one at put a garnishment on both of our accounts and took all of our money. I called Tina at capital one immediately and asked what the heck was going on. I was told that they had put a garnishment on both mine and my husbands accounts to collect their money and it would stay on there until August 4th when we went back to court. This was the first I'd heard about it. Luckily I was able to get my name off my husbands personal bank accounts but mine is still locked up. These people are total scam artists who will take you for everything you've got.

    I'm totally stressed out about this and it's putting a big strain on my marriage. I found out the day after they garnished my accounts that I'm pregnant with twins and i'm so scared that the stress is going to make me lose them. I have to go 2 hours away from home to go to court in August to find out what's going to happen because I can not come up with $2200 before court.

    I Called and requested a simple fax be send to me at my office concerning my statement. I was told it would be 3 days. The day of the request was Thursday, thus I expected the fax on Saturday.Did not received the fax on Saturday, nor Sunday. I called back on Monday and at that time I was told it would be 3 business days and I would not receive the fax until Tuesday after 3:00pm.

    This was upsetting because of what I was orginally told was not the truth, unfortunate for me this what not the first time I have been given the wrong information by a front line represenative which does not help the consumer and misleading. This is truly poor customer service.

    I needed this information to assist with purschase of a home for my family and the finance company will not proceeded further without the information I requested. This information is time sensitive and very important to my family well being. If you would please look at my history of requested and problems that I have encounter you would obviously see that I as a consumer has been poorly mistreated.

    She calls me at work every, even after I told her not to call me at work. Now she calls when I or anyone answers, she hangs up. She asks for me, then when I answer she hangs. I have asked several times not be called at one as my boss does not like us getting personal phone calls during business hours. She ignored or refused to honor my request about not calling at work. Calling me every day does not make me pay any faster. I was out of work for 4 months, now I am working and trying to get caught up.

    I spoke to Raven at Capitol One which is a Customer Service Representative for that bank. I had to contact Capitol One Bank regarding some suggestions on adding the ability for their on-line banking customers to set-up recurring on-line payments. At the end of this conversation she said "God Bless You". I asked Raven if Capitol One Bank allowed their Customer Service Representatives to say this to their customers and she said that she was told that it was optional for them.

    I think that based on the fact that this is a banking/business matter and not a religious based company/organization it can be offensive to atheists and/or other religions/beliefs. Please contact me either by phone or e-mail regarding any actions you have taken regarding my concerns. Thank you in advance and I look forward to your response.     If you are looking for a credit card company I would not apply with Cap One. I have had my credit card with them since 2002. And have paid on time. I called them today and after being hung up on & shuffled around 3-4 times finally spoke to Shanna who told me my account was (RESTRICTED) because I have not made a purchase for a couple of years. Excuse me but I'm TRYING to pay off my credit-card not go into dept, which is what THEY-WANT !.

    Long story short I can no longer use this card. My mother was so hopping mad today when she heard this that she closed out her account. She loves her Chase card & the interest for her is 5% which of course Cap-One couldn't match.

    I received duplicate fees on my credit card account. So I closed the account by phone, cut-up the card and sent it back with payment in full and a letter of closure. Yet they continue to add on late penalties and will not close the account. Now I'm being harassed by an out-source company in India for payments. Every time I speak with them their story keeps changing to suit them. At first I complained why additional charges were incurred on the 7th when my full payment was received on the 5th.

    The next time they switched the dates around. They keep demanding that I give them my personal information such as bank routing number & SS# but I refuse to give those out to an unknown entity. I agreed to pay these fraudulent charges to close the account once and for all but only when I receive all documented information by mail which they have not produced. The out-source company now calls me every 2 hours asking the same questions and demanding their money. I am tired of explaining it over an over. Doesn't anyone write this information down?

    Called capitol one customer departmen, told them I wanted total Amount Iowed which was $1,069.00, sent check , had borrowed $2,OOO for this, was bill for bidfuel whichIdid not owe but paid anyway, specifically asked them if this was total. Went to post office, paid for next day mail delivery, now have bill which they say is left over balance for $58.09. I dispute this because they lied to me about closing outat balance they gave me, want more and how do I know they aren't lying again and this will be ongoing. Don't intend to give them money for nothing. Also they included credit report. Pay for report to close account?

    I have had a capitol one credit card for 3 years. I made more than the monthly amount due. Had medical problems missed a payment. They keep raising my rate. It is up to 33%. I have paid the original amount off at least twice but with the fees I owe more than I did originally.

    I am going deeper in debt daily, I tried to work out an arrangement when I was not working due to health and they wouldn't do it.They have made it impossible to pay off with such a high interest rate.

    I asked for an extention on the 21st for my due date which would be on the 22nd. I dont care if its a day before, thats when many people find out they wont make it in time. They insisted that thay were going to give me the late fee and it would qualify as a late payment, where they usually jack up ones apr.

    I dish out a 138 dollar minimum payment everymonth, sometimes more trying to cut down a debt i made through troubles years ago at a very high apr. They took advantage of me then at 22, not notifying me that they were jacking up my apr to 28 percent. Now that its down to 16 percent, they are siezing that chance to nail me again. Sounds ridiculous, but it is true that my quality of life would be better if i could save that 150.00 I throw to them each month. Yet I can't even get a grace period.

    Repeatedly denies me lower interest rate, despite the fact that I a;lmost always pay in full on time. Now I'm applying for a mortgage, paid in advance, and they didn't credit my online payment quickly--instead holding it (as they have done several times before) until other charges came in and then charged me an overlimit penalty in addition to the interest before crediting my timely payment. I'm sick of this. Now, my credit score has dropped 6 points just as my loan goes to underwriting. This is THEIR fault.

    I might not get the loan I was preapproved for for my home purchase. I also demand that my fees and accrued interest be refunded by comparing my payment times and dates with theirs.

    An exboyfriend of mine used my information to open up a Capital One credit card without my consent or knowledge. I was made aware of the fact when Capital One called on a charge that they were questioning and I immeditaely told them I had NEVER opened up a capital one credit card this year. They did their investigation and concluded that I was the person liable that I had in fact opened up the credit card. I have sent them numerous letters, copy of my drivers license to compare signatures anything I could think of. Never did I get any response.

    I have made countless calls to them and never receive a call back even though the vcml I get transferred to states they will call back in 24-48 hours. And when I call to compalin that no one is calling me back that I want to speak to a supervisor I get the roundaround and get put back into vcml for this person that never returns calls.

    I have filed a police report and yet Capital One collections calls me on a daily basis and I end up arguing for 20 minutes going through everthing that has transpired. This is exhausting and they are runing my credit. I never consented to this credit card it was opened up fraudently by using my identity and need this to get resolved but am running into a corporation that does not care. Please help.

    My credit rating shows an unpaid credit card and has dropped, I have spent countless hours on phone calls and sending letters to no avail, I am stressed and am getting no where.

    I received a billing statement that came after the due date. I disputed the $29 late fee on the following statement. I spoke to at lest three different persons at Capital One credit card about my dispute without resolution. I sent this following email: This is notification that my account (number) is to be closed. I am also disputing the $29 late fee on my October statement as the statement was not mailed to me.

    My account remained open and they charged me late fee and interest on the original $29 late fee till it was over $270, then they reported it to credit bureaus. Now my credit has a derogatory on it and my home loan is 6.75-6.85% instead of 6.5%.

    I had a balance of $20,000 on my Capital One VISA card. I arranged for a $20,000 balance Transfer from Bank of America to my Capital One VISA account in May 2008 to pay it in full. Bank of America mistakenly sent the transfer twice (totalling $40,000. I have not been able to get the $20,000 sent to Capital One by mistake, back from Capital One Bank, no matter what I do. I finally had to close the account to force them to send me the money back, because it would show as a balance on my account. However, they say they can hold on to the money for two billing cycles (60 days), eventhough the account has been closed and shows a credit balance. I am not sure if I ever will get this money back, unless I hire an attorney.

    I have spent numerous hours on the phone with Capital One Representatives, and each one gave me a different answer. I was promised the money back many times, including one Senior account manager who assured me he would transfer the money back to bank of America. That was never done and the next rep. told me they could not make the transfer back and my only choice was to take two large cash advances at my expense to get the money back. Bank of America has closed my account stating I have gone over my limit of $25,000 and they have charged me cash advances fees, and over the limit fees. I am unable to apply for a much needed business loan at this time, because of this mess showing up on my Bank of America account.

    After charging me a memberhip fee and late/penalties in January of 2008, they continued to charge late fees, even though I called in February, April, May and July to get the charges reversed and to get them to stop.

    On my credit report there are now 3 instances of being late more than 30 days on monthly payments.

    In early February 2008, I received an advertisement from Capital One Credit Card with a check enclosed. The ad announced Zero percent interest for 18 months and said all I had to do to take advantage of that offer was to use the enclosed check. It did mention that there would be a service charge of 2% of the total transferred amount. I called to make certain that was the case, since the check didn't say anything about balance transfer on it. I was assured that was the case and that all I had to do was fill out the check and use it.

    I wrote the check for $14,700 and deposited it into my bank account on February 11, 2008. The minimum amount due for the March statement was $441 and was made on March 28, 2008. A payment of $433 was made on April 28, 2008. I had noticed I was being charged a finance charge, but I thought it was for the required 2% service fee. When I was again assessed a finance charge, I called Capital One's customer service the first week of May. I was assured that the problem would be remedied.

    On May 10, 2008 there had been no change to my account. I called again, and after going through several people, and this time I spoke to Carrie, Account Manager, #ZPU666. I told Carrie what had been said to me and she took all the information down again. She told me that I'd see the credit to my account, but that it could take as long as one to two billing cycles.

    On July 8, 2008, the account still had a finance charge assessed to it. I called and spoke to Blake first and asked him to transfer me to an account manager. He transferred me to a woman whose name I never understood. She told me that the account had been reviewed and the request for a credit had been refused. I demanded to speak to someone higher up. I was transferred to Christa who is an account manager, too. She said that the request submitted by Carrie had been denied. She mumbled, "Apply request number 13427." I asked her to tell me what that meant and she said that it means the "upper office" denied it because I used the wrong check. She offered to submit it again.

    I demanded to speak to someone higher up the chain. She said she could transfer me, but that the people above her have no ability to override that decision. She transferred me to Frances, Senior Manager. Frances said that the check number didn't match the check number for the no interest offer. When I told her I had called before cashing that check and was assured that there were no strings attached, she asked if I had a copy of the letter I received with the check. I told her I didn't keep a copy of that letter. She said I should have. She said that unless I had a copy of that letter then there's no way to prove that they are at fault. I asked if she could just transfer the current balance over to the no interest offer now, and she said that was not possible. She offered to look into it further if I should later find the letter somewhere in my paperwork. I hung up.

    July 9, 2008 Knowing that 14.99% interest is too steep an interest rate, especially on $14,700 balance with more than $13,500 still due, I contacted Chase Bank and arranged for a balance transfer through them. They wired a balance transfer of $13,500 to the Capital One account on July 11, 2008. They assessed me a $405 transfer fee. My balance with Chase Bank now stands at $13,905.

    July 14, 2008 Received photocopy of balance transfer check. It is NOT a purchase check (no markings indicating it was a "purchase check," as do the purchase checks I received in the mail this past Friday). Called and spoke to Dan and asked to speak to a Senior Account Manager. I was connected to Charlie, Sr. Account Manager. I told him the situation and he apologized for the misunderstanding and said he would investigate this matter and see what Capital One can do for me to remedy this problem.

    I told him the only thing, in my mind, that would remedy this problem to my satisfaction, would be for them to refuse the payment from Chase bank and put the account into the proper category and reimburse me the $405 I had to pay the Chase to make the $13, 500 transfer.

    Charlie said he couldn't refuse the payment and that the best he could do would be to reimburse me $850. That will cover the cost of the interest I had to pay so far and $120.28 toward the $405 fee I had to pay Chase bank. When I asked why I could not be correctly put into the 0% interest for 18 months, he said he couldn't do that because that offer isn't available in my area. My complaint is that it WAS available when I wrote the check. If nothing else, I want the FULL $405 I had to pay Chase for the balance transfer of $13,500. I want all my interest paid to date AND the $405 I had to pay to Chase Bank to get a transfer to a lower interest rate!

    My original deal should have been: Zero % Interest for 18 months. There was to be a 2% fee on the total amount transferred. What I have paid to date and when I made the payments: I transferred $14,700 and should have had to pay $294 in transfer fees. On March 28, 2008 I paid the minimum balance of $441.00. On April 28, 2008 I paid the minimum balance of $433.00. On May 28, 2008 I paid the minimum balance of $426.00. On June 28, 2008 I paid the minimum balance of $418.00. On July 9, 2008 I paid the minimum balance of $200.00

    July 14, 2008 Not being satisfied with the remedy Charlie gave me, I called back to customer service and spoke to Leona. I asked to speak to a Senior Account Manager. She asked me what my call was in reference to. I told her the story. She connected me to Sue. Leona said she had explained the situation to Sue before she came on the line. After being told by Sue that I had used the wrong check for a balance transfer I lost my temper. My husband Keith took the phone from me and talked to Sue. She told him that the transfer balance check numbers were between 45147 and 45158. My check number was 45153. When he said the check falls into that sequence, she said, "No it doesn't." My husband corrected her. Check number 45153 IS between 45147 and 45158. 45147, 45148, 45149, 45150, 45151, 45152, 45153, 45154, 45155, 45156, 45157, 45158.

    When I cooled down, Keith gave me the phone back. Sue told me that it would take about 48 business hours (which I guess means I won't hear anything until next Tuesday, July 21, 2008) before she can get back to me on the matter. July 15, 2008 Sue called today. She said she did get the check and, "Yes, it was in the category to get zero interest for 18 months." She said she's credited back our interest paid and had we not transferred our balance to another account, she would have been happy to honor the original agreement.

    I asked her why I wasn't given this information two senior managers before and she said she didn't know either of those managers. I asked to speak to someone higher up and she said she was the highest level at Capital One. Imagine that. Frances and Charlie were senior managers,too. Why didn't they make that effort? We entered into a transaction based upon a written promise from Capital One. That promise was that we could have a balance transfer rate of 0% interest for 18 months. All we would have to pay was a 2% transfer charge, which I was more than willing to do. I wrote the check for $14,700, knowing I would have an additional $294 as a transfer fee. Capital One failed to fulfill its written agreement and instead pulled a bait and switch.

    They raised our interest rate from zero percent for 18 months to an immediate application to 14.99 percent. This slight of hand forced me to take emergency action and secure a more affordable loan for the remaining balance of $13,500. We now have a loan at 3.99% that we had to pay $405 to obtain. I would have been able to pay my entire loan amount off within the 18 months if I had been given the zero interests for that time period. Now, I will accrue finance charges for my loan.

    Capitol One charged me numerous amounts of fees and late charges although I was not late. They would apply fee after fee. I wrote them letters after letters asking why they continue to do this. Meanwhile they requested so much money at one time and I could not afford to send them 1400 at that time. They sent me to at least 8 different collection agencies whom used very nasty tactics and I wanted to correct this because I wanted alway to keep my good credit rating at that time. However they would not accept a reasonable payment.

    When I did send a payment they tore it up and sent it back to me. I did not pay them due to their methods and always coming up with a different balance. I wanted to be able to pay it off knowing that it was going to make a dent. However they were acting so crooked in their fees that Im not real happy throwing money in the air and being ripped off! They have taken me to court and I responded however I made a mistake by not bringing an attorney. The judge sounded as if he sided with me and has had many cases with this same company and said he will have to think about his decision (It has reached a statute of limitation) and I had alot of evidence. This legal recovery service could not provide the original contract.

    However I have just found out they have gotten a judgement against me for double the amount of the original debt! This is so unfair PLEASE HELP! I have suffered dramatically with my credit, unable to rent an apartment, undue amount of stress, palpitations, HARRASSING PHONE CALLS,

    Apparently, even though I never missed a payment in my life, by paying early in the month (and after the previous months due date) I earned a late fee. I emailed asking why, and was told it was because I was late (how helpful). She then refunded one of the late fees. I replied explaining that I did not pay late, I paid early in the month. 2 weeks with no response. I just phoned and spoke with one of their CSR's. He told me that it says on the bill that anything paid before the 4th of the month would be applied to the previous month. I told him it did not state so clearly or I would have noticed. He said it was there. I asked him to confirm that there are 4 days of the month where you cannot make a payment for that month, and he confirmed. He said the only reason I got a refund of one fee is because it was a courtesy.

    I do not understand why the woman that gave me that 'courtesy' did not explain the reason for it so that I would not make the same mistake again. I told him that I will be paying off my card and never using it again. I checked my paper bill. Underneath the amount owed, in smaller text and with no explanation accompanying it, are the dates of June 4 to July 3. It would have never in a million years occurred to me that I would be punished for paying my bill early. I can only guess how many others have fallen into this late fee trap.

    Received a deceptive letter in the mail to apply for a credit card. the reservation number was not in their system, but when I applied for a card using the phone number, the operator gave me a 3 percent balance transfer fee. The reervation number said there was no balance transfer fee. Furthermore, the offer came to the right address but merged my husband and my name to come up with an invalid name.

    I just wasted 2 hours of time trying to apply for a credit card with capital one and all along the offer was phony.

    I had fallen behind on my car note, medical reasons. I called the bank and spoke with a represenative, I was told to make up the payment on the 8th of july. I made them aware that I would be able to catch up on the 10th. I was told they could not extend me out the two extra days. I then spoke with a supervisor. I told the supervisor that the payments would be made up on the tenth, the supervisor said that it would be ok. I ask would my car be safe from a repo, I was told that a repo would not happen.

    On the 9th of july the repo man showed up at my door asking for 1000 dolalrs or my car. I told him that an arrangement had been made to make only one payment then the rest on the 25th of july. he said there was nothing he could do because the bank nolonger owns the account. My main complaint is that the bank told me one thing, then done another. I need my car, that is all the trasportation I have.

    I will lose my job, if I lose my car.

    My wife of nearly three years has had an account with them since we began dating. (Even before then.) When I got laid off from my job, she promptly notified them of what transpired. Since then, they have done the following: Added and changed the interest rates to suit THEIR NEEDS! Tacked on Late fees Stopped sending bills Ignored customer-related issues

    To add to our hardship, my wife has recently been served a summons to appear in Small Claims court. We were told we could either go to court, or contact the attorney representing Capitol One. After we gathered our composure, I told her to fight this lawsuit, as it appears to be a dirty legal tactic. My wife is beyond stressed we asked Crapitol One to work with us, and were treated like cheap hookers on the street. What is adding to our straining marriage is that they dont care if a family is on hard timesand they act like everything is fine. This has affected my marriage, or added to the problems we currently have - the end results being an adverse credit rating, foreclosure of family home, ailing in-law, etc.

    I will add that my worry is the ruling of the judge wont stop Capitol One if the judgment goes in our favor. If they get a favorable ruling however, they will tack on fifty times more than what we owe, and force us to sell things including those of sentimental value to pay off the balance.

    Last month, Capitol one stuck $64.68 of charges on my account, ostensibly because my payment was late. After I showed that my bank had made the payment on time, the charges were removed. This month, however, I have a new charge of $9.56 because I paid the balance less the $64.68 (which was credited to my account before the due date.)

    Today I had to listen to Tara and Shirley from Capitol One Customer Service tell me that a zero-balance isn't proof of payment in full...that I should have overpaid the account by $64.68 in order to avoid the $9.56 finance charge. What rubbish! Let's do the math, too...assume for a minute that the erroneous charge of $64.68 was valid, 9.56/64.68 over 30 days amounts to %177 APR.

    Not much...I'm out $9.56 and shopping for a new visa card. I just want to add my voice about how this company operates...for anyone who might consider applying for a Capitol One credit card - don't!

    I applied and was accepted for one of Capitol One cards. Before receiving the card, I received a call from my father saying that Capitol One's fraud department had called my father and not myself. After relaying the message to me I called and they were not able to tell me why they called my father or how they got his number. Before activating the card I received 2 letters saying that there was fraudulent activity on the account, but after calling in to find out the problems they could not inform me why this had happened.

    I finally got the card accessed and after having the card opened for only 1 week had received two other letters placing my card on hold for fraudulent activity. I finally closed the card that night and will never work with Capitol One again.

    There were no monetary consequences thru these actions since I was never able to use the card. Overall after only having the card open for a week this will negatively affect my credit and will hinder me in trying to attain a mortgage loan.

    I originally tried to cancel 2 Capitol One credit cards in June, 2006 (1 Business and 1 Personal) and was told they were canceled by Andy Capitol One ID #NGY492. In July, 2007 charges began appearing on my closed accounts. I sent a letter to their fraud department on 7/18/07 and Erika Davis responded they were closing the accounts and would credit back the charges in a letter dated 8/16/07.

    I thought this was now over but 4 months ago (3/08) a charge was apparently posted to my account - strange all credit cards were destroyed.

    They have ignored all letters and faxes. On 7/12/08 I received a letter from NCO Financial stating that the account had been turned over to them for collection.

    FICO score has gone down 100 points so far - all my other credit is perfect. I have had to change my home phone and business phone because of harassment.

    I had a $500.00 balance , But due to a yearly membership fee,that took me over the credit limit, along with a late fee, changed the rules of the contract by incresing my interest rate. Finally i sent $160.00 witch only $2.00 was applied to principal. I cut up the card and haven't used it in 4 years.

    On 6/30/08 I called to pay off the balance on my card and close the account. The representative I spoke to quoted me a payoff of $3.26 more than my statement showed. I questioned the difference but could never understand the reps broken english enough to figure out the difference, I just paid it. A couple of days late I check my card balance online and found that I now had a $3.26 credit balance on my account.

    Sent several messages thru their website and was told repeatedly that when my balance reached zero the account would close. I questioned the ability of the account to reach a zero balance from the credit balance. Just checked online again today and for some reason I now have a balance owed on the account for $3.13 even though the card has not been used for at least a year. The summary of charges just lists other.

    Capital One made a tragic situation worse. Two months ago, my father, the proprietor of a small business with several employees, was killed in a car accident. My mother, an officer of the company, assumed control. We called Capital One to update the account. Note that the employees who have linked Capital One cards use these cards on a regular basis and have vendors set up to automatically charge to these cards. Also note that we pay our bills on time and there is no outstanding debt on the cards.

    As soon as the people at Capital One heard my father was deceased, they turned into robots saying the card and all linked cards must be shut down. They had no concern for the impact to the business. They refused to listen to the fact that my mother was an officer of the company. Finally, one guy took the time to listen and told us to fax all of the information over to General Correspondence and explain why we needed to keep the accounts open. On the fax we also provided contact information if the recipients had any questions. We received no phone call, but they just cut off the accounts two weeks later with no warning. We have employees who need to make purchases and are going to have to use their personal cards until we can effectively take our business elsewhere.

    Yesterday we spent two hours on the phone with people who refused to escalate the call, and today we are on the phone again with more people who refuse to give us their last names or escalate the calls. We'll be applying for a new card with another company, but these guys are just ridiculous. My mother has excellent credit - if they'd just take the time to take a look at it, they'd see that she would make the type of customer they'd want. Not to mention, our company has excellent credit. It's a shame that Capital One just couldn't give us a straight answer or work out a solution with us.

    My husband passed away May 6. I reported this to capitol one in a timly manner. I was told I should have called them the following day after his passing...like I was thinking about my credit card. they told me my account would be under review...it is a small business account..linked to a continuing business. I was told I would be notified if there was any issue keeping the account open.

    They closed the account, auto payments bounced and it caused much added stress to my situation. I have a 614.89 credit owed to me that will be yet another two weeks before I can receive it. The final straw was my No Hassle rewards. Since only Paul's name was on the rewards part, they will not let me redeem them. How hard can it be to simply give the rewards to the man's widow? All I wanted was a few Target gift cards! It is more the inept attitude of all the people I spoke with that made this a matter of principle.

    Throughout all the calls, changes and financial dealing I have had to realign these last two months, Capitol One is the only company that has been repeatedly unwilling to assist with my requests and needs. I just want others to be aware of the lack of customer service offered in a time of need.

    I have been denied the earned reward points, been denied access to the card that has been kept in good standing, been treated disrespectfully.

    I got a Master Card some years ago I had a charde limit of $250.00. This ment I only could draw up to that amount ,yet I was told that my balance was over $300.00 I called and talked to master card and asked how this was to be. They said I charged on the card.I told them I never went over the stated amount of $250.00 at any time. So I cut the card up in 2004.

    Then I have found out that my card was up to $1,000.00 so I called and talked to them again they said I have been useing the card and after the fact I cut the card up. I asked them to send me recets with my name on these charges. Here it is 2008 and I have never seen these items with my name on them. I told Capital One I wold handle the $250.00 dealth but all the other charges that where very questionable sence the card was destroyed in 2004 I was not going to deal with. This has screwed up my credit and I have wrote my congressmen from Illinois to help in this matter.

    I deposited money in my checking account and later that same evening, I got online and transferred the money to my savings account not realizing the money really wasn't available even thou it was a cash deposit and showed available. I was charged a $35 nsf fee because the money I had in the bank before the deposit was less than the transfer of my deposit.

    I called and they basically said they couldn't reverse it because it wasn't their error. The online system let me do the transfer, I think it is their error. It is a scam to rip people out of money because we are getting smarter to their tactics.

    Capital One will not reverse the $35 so now I am out that money. That is almost half a tank of gas for me. I'm now thinking about taking my money out and going else where.

    In 2001 I was rooming with my cousin in Tennessee. I found a job in Wisconsin in early 2001 and moved. I new it was a temporary position, so I didn't change my address. I let my cousin keep my mail for me. My cousin then started seeing a girl that turned out to be a very bad person. Anyway she got some of my mail and ordered a Capital One Credit Card in my name with her as a co-signer. She received the card and spent up to around $500 on it.

    I didn't find out till around the beginning of 2003 after checking my credit report. I then called Capital One and spoke with a lady, I can not recall her name, but she looked at the transactions and signatures and stated that she could tell that I had never used the card. So she told me that she would take my name off the account and leave my cousin's Ex-girlfriend accountable for the credit card.

    Well, I thought that was the end of it. Now, in June of 2008 I get a letter in the mail from a company called Northland Group Inc. stating that I now owe $1078 for this Capital One credit card account. I didn't hear anything from this account from 2003 till now. Now all of a sudden I am accountable again for this account according to them. I can not get anything done through Capital One, because they say they can not find an account for me, and this Northland Group says I have to pay them and work things out with them, although they can not look up the history of the account. What am I to do?????

    My credit is really hurting because of this. I am trying to get a loan for a house and can not. By the time I can get this straightened out, if it gets straightened out, the house I want to buy will probably be sold. According to this Northland Group, the account is still accruing interest at 25%, so that is just hurting my credit more. My stress level is sky rocketing, and I have a disease that is affected by stress, so needless to say I have been very sick due to this. Please someone help me!!!!!!

    I was charged a $39 overlimit fee on my credit card, SOLELY caused by the interest charges that they charged. This appears to be a new practice, since in the past I was not charged this fee, or, in one instance, they gave me a refund for this amount. On the 2 most recent occasions, however, they have refused to refund the fee. Furthermore, the minimum balance due will cause this overlimit charge to reoccur, since the $67 minimum balance due on my account, were I to pay it on time, still cause another overlimit fee when they charge interest again at the end of the billing cycle. This is a deceptive practice in which they are more than likely breaking the credit agreement that they send out.

    $78 total (2 times $39). The issue, however, is that Capital One is doing this as a matter of practice and should stop doing this.

    I recieved a bill from capitol one stating their was no min paymeny. I than check my account and noticed i was charged a late fee causing my account to lose its 0 percent interest rate for a year. I called the company and made them aware they said since i shreaded my bill an have no proof i am out of luck. I find it quite funny that their website troubleshoot fro miscalculations on bills but meanwhile they cannot find a way to fix my account. Meanwhile they are now collecting a 12 percent interest rate on a balance i transfered.

    This error by capitol one has caused me to pay an extra amount to a company that advertised to me a 0 percent interest rate for a year

    I filed for banckruptcy over 10 years ago. Shortly after the 10 years the bankruptrcy was taken off my record. I received on or about January 2008 a letter from Capital One Bank stating I owed them money. The amount was similar to the amount that was filed in my bankruptcy. A letter was written to them stating I did not owe that amount since it was written off through said bankruptcy.

    I discovered the mentioned bank has entered their name on a a credit reporting agency 7 times. Can they do this? It seems to me this is total harrassment because I may not have given them but two permissions to check my credit. This looks bad on my credit when I am trying very hard to maintain what I think is good credit. I asked that they eliminate all inquires on all credit reporting agencies. I have already complained against the bank via The Better Business Bureau in Cental Virginia, Inc. This was done 6/25/2008 and received a reply from Capital One Auto Finance 7/8/2008 who suggested I contact Capital One Credit Card Division at mentioned phone #.

    Possible turn down for credit due the the amount of Capital One's many inquires.

    Several days ago Visa cancelled my account ...7542 without notice, without consultation, without evidence of a problem, and disregarding my long history of excellent credit and prompt payments. I went through the usual 2 hour frustrating, exasperating and inefficient session talking to VISA's nice but ineffectual representatives. I was assured of an explanation by today, but - of course - none was forthcoming.

    You cannot imagine the inconvenience of having to change cards for all of the accounts I deal with and the loss of the account history. This is incompetence at its worst. I would appreciate a call from someone who understands the issue and who can deal with it

    About 6 hours of wasted time which in business I bill at $400 per hour.

    I was dining at a restaurant with a client while out of the town for the 4th of July weekend. When the bill came I gave the server my North Fork Bank (now Capital One) atm/credit card. The server came back and informed me the card was declined. I was embarassed but moreso concerned given the fact that I had just withdrawn cash earlier in the day with same card and knew that I had ample money to cover the check, which was only $77.00. My initial thought was that there had to be some sort of system problem so I asked the server to confirm that the card was actually declined. She said that she had run it twice and even checked the restaurant's system and that the card was definitely declined! So I gave her my personal atm/credit, which is also a Capital One card, and it was also declined.

    I paid cash and immediately began trying to call the Capital One 800 customer service line. The line was busy! I called repeatedly to no avail. I finally got the automated system and dialed 0 for an operator. After being on hold for 20 minutes a customer service specialist picked and acted as if nothing was wrong. She verified my identity and proceeded to tell me that my accounts were in good standing and verified my balances. It was not until I asked her if the system was down that she disclosed that there was system wide problem and that I would not be able to use my card. She placed me on hold to find out when the system would be back up only to come back and tell me that they did not know when the system would be functional again.

    Capital One could have allowed courtesy purchases as North Fork Bank, who it bought, did when its system crashed when it took over Trust Company Bank. North Fork Bank allowed everyone $200.00 purchases or withdrawals until it could fix the system. They limited customers to this amount b/c while the system was down they could not verify balances but understood that this is a major inconvenience or worse people could have emergencies that require usage of atm cards. There was nothing on the Capital One website about this situation. It was 4th of July weekend and they should have been prepared for increased credit and atm card usage

    Capital One has a history of deceptive practices and poor customer service, which is why I was not pleased when I found out that they were buying my bank. Capital One is currently being sued by the State of West Virginia for illegal and deceptive practices. While extremely polite it was abundantly clear that the customer service specialist was not going to inform me of the disabled system if I had not asked. And frankly having your card declined is extremely embarrassing

    I was over charge on my credit card from Capital One OVERLIMIT FEE of $19.00 for 5 time each month; and LATE CHARGE FEE $29.00 and only was returnd or adjustment of $10.00 fee 5 time; I was not full returned of OVERLIMIT FEE's of $19.00 time 5= $57.00 dollar back into my account and I'm still short of $57.00 dollar more that need to be credit back into my account.

    constant fees applied by capital on i was late on a payment which they applied a 39.99 past due fee which put me over the limit and they applied another 39.99 fee for that this was for 1 month on a credit card with 500 spending limit.     Never have applied for any credit within Capital Ones company. I looked over my 3 reporting credit agencies and found that there was a credit card there with an outstanding balance of 1100. Immediately I contacted Capital One and followed all fraud procedures to get this removed!!

    Well this didnt happen. Ive been told over 20 times that yes this is my account and I need to pay this balance or its going to stay on my credit report for 7 years. Im not paying for something that I didnt do. I was away at school and informed them of whom Im sure did this. They dont want to hear it and I aint paying. I need some serious help with this.     wrote a check to pay Center Point Energy, mailed it. Capital One let the check go through electronically twice and a third time as a check. Went to Southwood Branch on several occasions to try to resolve...thought it was resolved, ended up getting a letter from the bank advising account was overdrawn and they were turning over to collection...went back to bank, thought it was straightened out again, then got another letter stating they were closing account and turning into credit bureau.

    Ended up going downtown to Main branch giving them $ to straighten out acct. on the 24th of June and today 7/2/08 received yet another letter threatning turning over to credit bureau.

    having to take time off of work to do my banks job as a financial institution. Menta anguish, harrasment and downright miscomunication on their part resulting in my account having a negative balance and messing up my account. Also, harassment as far as threatning me with my credit from a result of their incompetence to start with. Not to mention the $50 parking ticket we got taking care of this (supposedly).

Because the cut off time was after 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time, they are saying I have to pay a penalty, that my account is over the limit which it has been over the limit and in order to bring it current I need to pay them $183.42.

    Made payment on account from Chase bank (normal 2 day deliver) and as of 10 days later, they had not posted. Rep advised that they have the right to hold a payment for up to 10 days! Is this so that they can ring up some more interest in the interim? what a crock!

    I had a credit card with Capital One. In January of 2008 I cut the card up, sent a letter and requested the account be closed. They refused saying it it their policy that no account will be closed until the balance shows zero. Since my balance is high it will take some time to show zero. As I said I have no card so I was not worried about making charges.

    Since January an unauthorized charge appeared on the account. I disputed and it was removed. Tonight they billed me a $49.00 annual fee for having the card! I called, spoke to a man with broken English and was told I was to pay the fee even though I have no card and have not used the account.

    Since January I have emailed these people 5 times, sent 3 letters and called twice asking for the account to be closed and the credit line zero out to no avail. I closed 4 other credit card accounts and the banks were more than helpful and I continue to make my monthly payments as agreed. Capital One refuses and continues to cause me problems What can I do?

    I have good credit but I will not pay my Capital One payment this month. If I do, they will apply it to the annual fee. Why should I pay a fee for a card I no longer have and for an account I requested closed since January. PLEASE HELP OR ADVISE ME WHO I CAN CONTACT THAT COULD HELP ME.

    Although I've heard from others about problems with Capital One, I've never had major problems until I needed a clarification on a servvice (travel insurance) that I was paying for.

    It turns out that what I was told by a customer service agent is not what I thought I had. It took me nearly 2 hours of being constantly transferred and discontected twice (and of course having to start all over again) to realize that I have been misinformed. Their agents do not know the answers to questions, do not know where to get answers and when they get frustrated, you get discontected. Capital One is one longer in my wallet!

    I have had my Capital One account for more than 10 years. My husband had been laid off from his job in January and income had became very tight, thus I started just making the minimum payments each month. For the next four months, every bill I received had finance charges, over the limit charges and every other added charge you can imagine pop up and added to my end balance. I called Capital One on more than one occasion and informed them about my financial difficulties and questioning all the added fees.

    I tried to make arrangements for smaller payments and/or charges being removed from my end balance, however, my request was refused. They referred me to their financial specialist who informed me they would have to charge me a grand fee for their services and to help lower my payments. I refused this high dollar service and that same day I logged into my on-line account where I noticed that they had put a perminent block on my account. I again called them to find out how to remove this block from my account. I talked to one of the operators from their toll tree number and she informed me I needed to write a letter of reinstatement and fax it over to them right away. She said once I did that they would gladly reinstate my account. I did as I was directed right after I hung up the phone with them.

    A week later I logged onto my online account and I noticed that my account was still blocked even though my credit limit was under the limit. I again called Capital one and informed them of my conversation from the week before with the Capital One operator. Although she acknowledged that my conversation had been recorded in there system, She refused to lift the block, stating I needed to apply for a new card. I explained to her that I did not want another credit card, I just wanted my old card fixed. They tried again and again to have me apply for a new card, stating they would love to continue doing business with me, however my old account could never be reinstated.

    Hassel free? Very far from true. I can't wait to rid myself from any association with this Company.

    I have disputed a Capital One Credit Card charge since December 2007. I returned this item, due to low quality, immediately, via U.S. Registered Mail. The purchase was on ebay. The Seller was in Thailand. Seller acknowledged receipt of item, and promised an immediate refund. I alerted Capital One of this return, and pending credit. When seller ceased responding to my emails in January 2008, I continued to request a refund with Capital One. I provided proof of return, including emails between seller and myself.

    I received one letter from Capital One in February 2008, requesting documentation. This was provided again. I sent letters to Capital One throughout March 2008, requesting status. I received another letter from Capital One, dated April 9, 2008, requesting these documents again. This letter said my documents must be received by April 18, 2008. I wrote a note on this letter, reminding Capital One I had already submitted these documents several times! Capital One never confirmed this. i sent another letter May 1, 2008, requesting status. I received a letter from Capital One, dated May 18, 2008, stating they closed this issue, since it was over 120 days!

    When I have tried calling Capital One, their computers have been down. Whenever I try to send via fax, per their letter, the fax number doesn't work. I have my fax history sheets showing this. I called again June 20, 2008. I finally spoke to a Rep named 'Mandy'. I asked for a Supervisor, Mandy said I had to explain my issue first. Mandy also said she didn't have a record of my letters. Then, Mandy found my file. Mandy said I would NOT receive a credit, since I didn't provide proper documentation. I explained I did this. Mandy said I didn't provide the 'Correct documentation. I explained this was never explained in the letters. Mandy said I had to obtain a release from the seller. I have never heard of this. This was never an item requested in any Capital One letter.

    Mandy said she didn't believe I disputed this in December 2007 and January 2008. Mandy suggested I was making a 'false' statement. Mandy said my case didn't warrant speaking to a Supervisor. Mandy then said I had sixty days from date of purchase to submit my dispute. Mandy stated I didn't do this. Mandy seemed determined to 'block' my credit. Mandy was also incorrect with this statement. I read my credit card policy, which states sixty days from date of last statement charge appeared. I was so upset during this phone conversation, that I forgot to mention the April 9, 2008 Capital One letter, requesting my information all over again. This would have been past sixty days.

    This charge is $333.00. In addition, I have been charged interest on this amount. I had other purchases where the seller issued a refund in December 2007. On my April 2008, Capital One re-billed me for these credits. I truly do not know where I stand. This doesn't even count my credit of $333.00 owed me.

    I have been with Captital One for at least 4 years. I have built up my credit limit $5,000 and have paid off my balance every month. The month of June 2008 I was a few days late and incurred a late charge of $39.00. I called them to see if they would waive the fee and drop my apr. They did and then they cancelled my credit card. The Kick in the pants is that they sent me 2 letters thanking me for my business etc. This was my only card and I worked veryhard to keep up the creat credit I had with them.

    I called them and asked them what happedned and told them that they made an error. They said that in 4 days that they would reeactivate the card. 1 week later I called back again and they said that thieroffice review it and declined to reopen the account. They told me to reapply and I told them that I use this credit card for business and that I have everything connected to this card and I would have to switch everything over. They said that there was nothing that they could do.

    I have the thank you letters from them dated June 2 2008 and June 6th 2008. I have also asked them to fax me the explaination on why they could not reopen this account. i guess because I paid my bill ontime They did not want me as a customer.

    I travel and need this credit line and now my boss is very frustrated and I could lose my job.

    I paid my credit card online & got a message on the website thanking me for my payment. We went on vacation & while there, my credit card was denied. I called Capital One & was speaking with a girl named Yen. She said they never got my online payment & insisted I give her the confirmation number for the payment I made.

    In the past, I've never gotten a confirming email, just a note on the website thanking me for my payment. I also told her we were on vacation & not anywhere near a computer. She refused to waive the late fee & finance charges that had accrued. She was very rude & argumentative. When I asked her to speak to her supervisor, she told me that there was no one I could speak with (I think they're taught that in their training).

    I always make my credit card payments on time & in full just so I don't have to pay any interest. Since she wouldn't cooperate, I asked her to cancel my credit card & she still gave me a hard time. To this date, I still have not paid my credit card & will not, due to the late charges & interest that they won't waive. I figure if I'm going to have bad credit for not paying their fees, I may as well have bad credit for not paying the full amount.

    So much for their No Hassle rewards program. I will never use them again!

    I received numerous mailings from Capital One offering to transfer balances from credit cards to an account with them for a one time fee of 3 percent in exchange for 12 months of an interest free loan. I asked several times if there were any other fees associated with this offer, and I was assured there were none.

    So in March I transfered $20,000 in debt, for a one time charge of $600. I found that to be a fair deal as I am reasonably sure I can pay this off by the end of the 12 month period. To my surprise, I got a call stating that the account was being turned over to collections because I've not made a payment.

    It turns out, that a monthly minimum payment must be made - though this was never explained to me. Accordingly the interest free 12 month loan is no longer good, and I'm now being charged interest. I was able to talk them down from 24% to 10%. But there is no way they will make good on the original offer. WHAT A RIP OFF! Had I known this, I would not have made this loan. I thought it was a revolving line of credit that happens to issue a card in case I want to take on more debt.

    I'm paying 10 % interest on top of the one time 3 % charge until I can find a suitable replacement lender.

    Capital one has delayed crediting my account with payments so that they can tack on a 39 dollar fee as a late charge. Then they use this as an excuse to raise my interest rate from 10% to 28%. I thought only loan sharks charged this kind of rate? We also had a dispute with a hospital and insurance company over charges made by the hospital that the insurance company would not pay. Capital one use this information from our credit report to raise our interest rate once again to 28%.

    Thsy agreed to forgive the 39 dollar fee, but would not forgive all the interest that had accrued before we became aware of the situation. How can they still take money from me when they admit that the late charge was a mistake? They had no explanation for their action, just that it is policy.

    I called to activate my newly approved small business credit card. First of all I should not have had to even call a number, it should be handled on line. The first customer service rep asked me some standard security questions which I answered without a problem. It took roughly 2 minutes then she asked me to stay on hold to check the account, another 2 minutes (this was at 8:30pm) came back and said I had to speak with someone else, that they were very busy so it may be a few minute hold time. I told her I just want my card activated, she said she had to transfer me to complete it.

    I almost hung up but cooled off...after a few minute hold was asked the exact same questions by another person, with added questions, like a survey imbedded within the process to force extract marketing data. I answered them as best I could but was curt. Finally at the end of what seemed like 10 questions with 4-5 mulitple choice answers in broken english no less, the rep tells me he cannot activate the card without a copy of my social security card and license. WHAT! I said you are kidding. He said no. I basically said forget it...I just opened an American Express account and activated it on line in less than 20 seconds and that I had been on the line for almost 15 minutes already. I told him to cancel my request I was cutting up the card.

    Get this, he told me that I could not cancel it without sending in a copy of social security card and license...so now I can't cancel a card that I cannot get activated...I told him to do what he needed on his end, that I was cutting up the Capital One card into a million pieces and hung up. This card is simply filled with hassles before you can even activate it. Sorry to anyone who has one. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like to dispute a charge if I cannot even activate the card. Of course there is no link on the Capital One website to file a customer service complaint.

    consumers need to know not to waste time with this company, which falsely claims to be hassle free in its multimillion dollar ad campaigns.

    Back in the Late Summer of 05. I was a small business owner and my business was not doing well at all. My wife and I came very close to filing bankrupty. Were 3 months behind on our mortgage and at least 4-5 months behind on all our credit cards. ( I believe we had at least 5 credit cards). Then we had a slight turn around with enough money to get caught up on our Mortgage (1st priority). We cancelled our Brankrupty proceedings and worked with all our creditors in trying settle our debt. I only had so much money to do this. All our credit card lenders were willing to settle the accounts except for Capital One. I explained that I only had so much money and that I could pay the principle and intereste but would not and could pay the late fees.

    They were the rudest, most condenscending people I have ever dealt with. They were adament that they wanted everything like right now to include all the late fees. I had maxed out my limit of $500. But with all the fees they wanted close to $900 to settle. I said I could pay the $500 principle and possibly up to $200 in interest. They said no way. I wrote them a very lengthy detailed letter explaining my situation but never heard back from them until in Late 07 I get a court summons indicating that Capital One is Sueing me for $1200.00 and that to avoid judgement they recommend mediation.

    I went to the mediation in Aug 07 and it was a joke. The Lawyer repesenting Capital One had his marching orders and indicated that they would not settle and now wanted the whole amonut, but would take payments. At that time my business was on life support. I was working a $10/hr job just to put food on the table for my family. I said no. I can't afford those payments and I did not agree with the amount owed.

    I was sued, the judgement for Capital One for roughly $1500 w/Lawyer fees added on. I have not yet payed back the judgement. I have shut down my business and am currently working a commisson only job. Had Capital One been willing back in 05 to work with me. They would have gotten their money plus interest. But after researching Capital One. I realize their goal in making money/profits is in the late fees. They are aggressive beyond belief, almost bordering on preditory lending practices. I know What is NOT in my wallet and I will never, ever, ever get a Capital One card again. And I am almost making it a one man crusuade to stop people from getting a Capital One Card, without at least doing a google search under Capital One Consumer Complaints.

    My husband and I had to file for bankrupcy in March of this year. Capital One was garnishing my wages at that time which then I understood. However on April 1 my attorney sent a letter to the attorney that was handling the case for them, Zazaur and Swartz in Birmingham, Al. instructing them to stop garnishing me because our bankrupcy cased was filed in court. The attorney and Capital One ignored this and kept the garnishment going.

    Our bankrupcy was heard in court June 7. They are still garnishing me today. My attorney is still trying to get it stopped but they are not. This is not right and I am not sure what else to do. They were of course listed in the bankruptcy. Thank you.

    I only work part-time. With the cost of gasoline and everything else going up I need all of my check. I usually bring home about $165.00 a week if I was not being garnished. They take anywhere between $25 to $65 a week out of my check. I has caused economic hardship to our household every week.

    I called Capitol One with regard to their balance transfer last week (week of the 9th-13th of June 2008). I was told that I qualified for their 18 month no interest transfer balance. They give me no time frame except I know they don't last long. I called today (one week later) to make a transfer and they told me they no longer are going to issue it to me. They said it was pass the date.

    Funny thing though, they didn't give me a date on the phone when I called them last week. Plus, when I get these offers in the mail from them, they usually last about two weeks. So, because I have $ (thank the Lord) in the bank, I paid them off (about $490.00) immediately on-line. I've been a customer of theirs for over 10 years and my credit score is over 780. I went to American Express where I got approved on-line and I'll use their card instead of Capital One.

    I applied for a credit card with capital one and was denied. At that time I was offered a prepay credit card and was told that after 3 months of direct deposit onto the card I would automatically be approved for a unsecured credit card.Information also appears on website about direct deposit guarantee. After 3 months of doing what the company asked I called and was told yes I had completed what was asked and would be recieving a letter with info about my guaranteed approval. I recieved the letter which told me how deserving I was to recieve a unsecured card because of my compliance.

    After filling out application with special approval number online I waited 3 weeks with no response. After 3 weeks I called capital one to check where my card was I was told I was rejected. After explaining situation I was told a review would take place by the first person I spoke with Cathy I.D.#wjh713. Then I asked to speak to her supervisor Sherry I.D.#xfs376 who told me I had to write a letter to make a review happen. Then was told she spoke to her supervisor who put a investigation on what was going on with my account. I then asked to speak to that supervisor Sheryl I.D.#ozo896 she told me that she had just recieved the information and did not know what was going on.

    So after being lied to twice in 15 minutes I asked to speak to her supervisor and at that point was told I was not allowed to speak to them because they dont speak to the public.I was not allowed to know their name nor was I allowed corporates phone number. So now I sit in limbo with no information and no proper customer service.

    A planned vacation for a friend was to be used on the card but now that cant happen. And still waiting to start rebuilding credit.

    My account got outstanding by some late payments. Due to Capitol One Fees my account is now outstanding my balance by about $800. Capitol One refuses to remove their fees and accept my proposal from a credit agency of $99. They keep sending me letters saying we're here to help but when I call they don't.

    Customer Service people are very rude and argumentative. I have offered and will pay my account in full, they refuse to work with me and removing thier fees. An affordable monthly payment for me is $99, they refuse to accept the proposal from Care One Consumer Credit and accrue fees every month of $78.

    My account is now 5 payments behind with an excess in fees of $800 and climbing.

    I called to have my payment that was posted on 6/16/08, in the amount of $240.00 released to my credit line. Melissa refused, stating that because I had a late payment in the past 12 months, it was not possible. I asked to speak to someone above her and she refused, stating that there was no one above her. I found that ludicrous and asked again. She again refused stating the same thing. I asked where it stated in Terms and Conditions that they could hold my payment. She said Well, it's in there I asked where, and she couldn't tell me. I have yet to find this statement in my terms and conditions. How is this legal? And what the hell can be done? How can consumers be railroaded like this?

    Nothing was done, they are still holding my payment for ten (10) calender days. I have yet to find anything stating this policy and I want something done!

    I activated my credit card with Capital One a couple weeks ago. A few days after that I made a charge of about 300 dollars, and the next morning I got a call from someone claiming to be from the fraud department and that they needed me to call them back to verify some information. I was skeptical of it at first so I called the number on the back of the card and asked em about the voicemail I got, and they told me it was a legit fraud department number and they put me through to them. So I answered a ridiculous amount of questions and the guy told me he took the hold off my account and everything was straight. Now I had not made any other purchases besides the one 300 dollar charge since then.

    I then got a letter about a week later from the same person who called me about the fraud originally. It said there was suspected fraud and that a hold was on my account, so I needed to send in a copy of my driver's license, social security card, and recent utility bill in order to get the hold removed. I just got this cleared up over the phone allready, and why would they need all this stuff just to verify it was actually me that made the charge? This time around the number that they told me to call was again not the same number as on the back of my card, so I called that number and asked what the deal was with this letter I got, and the guy told me that I can disregard the letter, because it was just automatically sent out to me when the fraud dept. originally called me, and that there was no hold on my account.

    Fast forward a week. I was trying to check the account I had set up online through their site, and I got a message stating that This account has been restricted. So I make the dreaded call to Capital One to see what's going on, and start talking to one of their many outsourced employees who I can barely understand. I told this guy what was going on, and he comes back saying my account has been closed. So I told him that I had allready got this fraud stuff straightened out, so there must be some kind of mistake. He wouldn't tell me the reason it was closed, so I asked to speak to someone higher up. I waited on the line for about 5 minutes, then same exact guy I just talked to comes back on telling me my account had been closed, like I hadn't allready heard him tell me that ten times 5 minutes ago.

    After that I decided I wasn't gonna pursue that any further, I didn't wanna deal with it. Guess I should've checked out all the horrible reviews and consumer complaints about the arguably worst credit card company ever before applying for this thing.

    tried contacting them again, to see why they kept tacking on late chgs and over the limit, now we dont even use these cards we dont even have them, or use them, cant seem to get in contact, or if i do they dont return any calls, im sick of this. wished i had never even trusted this company to be a good credit card

    In 2000 I recieved my first and only credit card from Capitol One. My original balance was $300, after a few months of good payments they raised it to $500. And after several more months of good payments it was then again raised to $1000. I ran into some hard times, (lost my job, then my house, and car) I tryed to make payment arrangments with them and they claimed that I had some kind of protection on my account that would pay the minimum owed for 6 months. I was very happy about this, and the woman said if I recieve a statement in the mail to disregard it...because it had been mailed out prior to our conversation. After 3 months I started getting harrassing phone calls at all hours of the night and day. They claimed that there was no notation of my previous conversation regarding the Insurance I had with them, and I now owed $1700 on my card. My minimum payment was $320 (which I could not afford) and they refused anything less then that amount.

    This year, around tax time, I recieve a call from a Collection Company that said they wanted to settle for $1500. I said I would love to do so as I do not want this haunting me any longer. I offered them $400 from my tax refund...and they refused!!! They told me I had to pay $500 per week for the next 3 weeks! I kindly told them that I do not even make that kind of money and could not agree to those kind of arrangments. They told me I should have gotten a better job, and I would not be in this mess! Yesterday I was served with a suppoena to appear in court in 12 days regarding this matter. However now they are demanding 3900 for a $1000 card that should have NEVER gone over the limit, not to mention that within the last year they have tacked on another 1200 in interest alone.

    I am very nervous about this and have never been to court before. I do not know what to do and feel helpless. I have never even set foot in a court room before! As if its not bad enough to kick a man when he's down, but now they are saying they are going to garnish my wages, put a lien on my car and/or my taxes. How can they say that I owe $4000 for a 1000 card that was charged off? Not only that, but to have lied to my face like that...this disgusts me

    Because they did not keep their word to me about the insurance coverage, my credit report has suffered as well as my home life because of unpaid finances and harassing creditors.

    I oringinally got a car loan from Key bank and Capital one brought it and automatically changed due date of payment and i had never been late with Key Bank with out forewarning me. So i did not realize i had to make two payments in one month. On several occasions they have sent tow trucks out to repo my car because they say i am illegally sending payments to principle only which you are not allowed to do. One tow truck took my car

    althought Capital one apologized i still had to pay all fees and the rep who wrote the notes in the system mysteriously does not work there anymore so they are still after 2 years charging me. Another time the tow truck broke the door handle off of a garage where they thought my car was.

    Another time they came to a home that was not mine but insist that i live there and was turning door knob, kicking door, and banging with hand saying i know your in there. i dialed 911 and police did not catch them but they saw them speeding away to avoid police.

    I first recieved my capital one card right out of high school, AWESOME with a 500$ credit limit! WRONG! I started buying gas on it, paying it all off, when I got kicked out of my house. Well my bill started escalating, because I couldn't pay it. Finally the company called with a settlement, I owed almost $1000 on a $500 limit. GREAT a settlement I can afford of 167.77 for 3 months, and it would be paid off! AWESOME....once again WRONG!

    They ended up getting my bank account number wrong, and declining the settlement, for 2 months they gave me the run around, and said they could no longer do the settlement! I told them it was THEIR mistake of getting my bank account number wrong, and they need to fix it and I refused to pay on it. Well they fixed it alright, my paper statement says I owe them $290, and THEY are telling me I owe them $454! I absolutely refused to pay it until they can get my paper statments fixed! To this day I refuse to pay it BECAUSE of their mistake!

    My credit limit is so [bad] now, I applied for a new car loan, and was refused, I can no longer apply for anything, besides PAY ME NOW stuff.

    An overseas transaction that i was trying to make was blocked by the fraud protection system. I received a call immediately from the fraud department and I verified that I wanted the charge to go through. They said they would remove the restriction and allow it to go through on the next attempt. I tried again and it was blocked again. I tried to call back the person that I had just spoken to and got a recording that this was an invalid Capital One number.

    I called the customer service number on the back of the card and after going through sevel levels of auto-attendants, I finally got a live operator overseas who said that i was all set and to go ahead a try again to put through again. I tried again and was denied again. I called back customer service and they said they would put me through to a customer service specialist. They put me on hold and after 10 m9inutes, I was cut off. I tried again and after 10 minutes got a live operator who again put me on hold for another 10 minutes. I then got an account specialist who told me that I was all set and to go ahead and try it again. I tried it again and it was denied again. I finally gave up and used my CitiBank card and it went through first try.

    The company in England that I was trying to pay sent me back emails after each failed attempt stating that my payment was denied and asking me to please resolve the matter immediately. This was highly embarrasing and may have damaged my reputation with this company which is my accreditation organization as a business advisor.

    I got my card close to the limit. Then they added a credit info fee $5.99 which took it over the limit a couple bucks. Then they tacked on a$39.00 over the limit fee. Then. when they recieved a payment sufficient to take it down below the limit, they did it again, this time with a couple of different charges.

    Last month, I ended up owing $796 on a 750 card. I sent them another $100.00 dollars, and they charged another over the limit fee and another credit information and a finance charge which left my balance at 749.47. It wasn't even over and they charged a late fee. They've charged 3 or 4 of these $39.00 late fees and they invented all of them. I have never overcharged the account and I haven't used it since it went up to $745. Ive paid 3 payments totalling a couple hundred dollars.

    Well, I should owe them about five hundred dollars, but they say I owe them $749, and I'd be willing to bet they will tack on another credit info fee and a late fee before I can get a payment in to them.

I got all of his statements and decided to contact them direclty , well, by law they couldn't give me any info, however I told them to at least provide me with a fax or something to show them proof of his serious helth condition, they refuse to even discussed that. Is being 3 weeks since then, I decided to contact them again today and again I was told "NO" we need tospeak with him.

    So, I made a 3 way phone called and he authorized me to speak with the representative, she was unable to help due to the fact that I dot have a power of attorney on file. My question was can we make payments and plase stop this account from accruing fees duie to his health condition...they answer no. He is already transfer to the hardship department. His APR went to 25.15% and they will not stop hammering him with late fees. They wanted 200.00 ONLY in excessives fees in other to stop charging him with more fees !!!

    Last month (May) I called Capital One to negotiate a lower APR and inquire about a balance transfer.After talking to a few representatives, I was transferred to a account manager. I advised her I wouldn't do the balance transfer unless I could get a lower APR. She finally agreed on a 9.9%(on purchases) It was at 12.65%. In addition I was to pay a $50.00 fee to receive 0% interest for 6 months on the balance transfer.

    I received my monthly statement and and noticed my APR was as 12.65, instead of the 9.9% that we agreed upon. I called Capital One and talked to several people and finall got a account manager who after much conversation, told me that when I negotiated the lower APR and balance transfer, the lower APR was submitted for approval and declined. I told her my story,and told her the whole transaction depended on the lower APR. She said I must have misunderstood and there was nothing she do about it. I told her I intended to complain to someone. Still there was nothing she could do.

    You know it's only a matter of a few percentage points, but I am retired and have a fixed and limited income. I'm looking to save all I can. I would not have done the deal. This was an unfair and I think illegal way to do business. They didn't even notify me that the request to lower my APR was declined. I intend to pay off and cancel the card, but this will take time. The balance is almost $2600.00. Something should be done about these practices.

    Capital one owes me $322.70, but it was rec'd in two payments and they have now held one for 41 days without giving me my money back. I asked to talk to a supervisor, but was told the lady Iasha answering the phone was the boss and as high as I could go. Help I want my money but no one takes compliants or responsibilty for their accounts?

    As a single mom this error is costing me food and gas for my children and I need it for daily living.. I really just want the 322 that is already mine?

    I opened an Online Savings account with $10,000 4/28/04 and I have had a $20,000 CD account since 2004. Their Fraud Risk Operation has frozen my funds and is playing a phone game where I need to call them Eastern Time zone. They cannot put their needs in writing. I sent a copy of my Drivers License and Social security card 5/17/08. NOW they say they need a 3rd piece of proof of my physical address: a utility bill. I rent a room and do not have it. NOW I WANT TO CLOSE THESE ACCOUNTS. [THEY] HAVE VANISHED WITH MY MONEY,force me to phone and wait on hold while experiencing high call volume and wait and wait.

    I did not know that I was dealing with a business on the East Coast where I either have to call at 6am, before work, or they are unavailable by phone after work. I'm not allowed to make personal calls during the day. NOBODY told me my account was on the East Coast! Their email and mail solicitations DID not state 3 forms of ID required, nor did it state that I had to work with them in the Eastern time zone, 5 hours earlier than my time zone.

    $30,000 plus interest, a lot of money being held. I want my money back ASAP!

    On April 1st, 2008 I paid my account in full to Capital One. The amount was $2,702.64, the payment was not due until April 16, 2008 so I paid it off way ahead of time. Now I am getting a bill from them for $29.31. I have my canceled check, so I know they received the full payment. There is know way I can owe them any money, this is the worst company I have ever done business with. I know longer have the Credit Card from Capital One. I cut it up right away. I received my canceled check on April 7th, 2008. I think they have some expaining to do. I have e-mailed them and written to them, and I have had know response from them.

    I am at my wits end and I dont know who to turn to in an act of desperation Im sending you my story. Back in late 2004 I had two Capitol One credit cards with limits of $300 later they increased the limit on one card to $500. In 2005 I paid $300 on one and $200 on the other.

    Although I had paid the cards down and nearly off I ran into a rough spot for a few months. During this time I got to the point where I couldnt keep up with their finance charges and penalties. The balance grew past the point of the credit limit so they began adding over draft fees for the money that Capitol One added to the card which pushed it over the limit.

    In 2006 my account was turned over to collection. I had several people from over seas calling me as often as 3 times a day 3 or more times a week by 3 different people. At this time, I didnt know what to do. I thought of suicide. Out of desperation, I made arrangements to pay $300 May of 2006 and then $250 in June of 2006 on the card with the $300 limit. I had cleared the debt for one card. All this on a card that I might have owed $50 on with the rest being finances charges, past due fees, and over draft fees (because of their charges causing over the limit drafts being added). One month they even charged me an annual fee for a card that I had not used in two years. The added fees for that month was $97.00 which included $29.00 over draft and $29.00 late fees.

    Again, I had not used the card since 2005 so that I could just pay them off and be done with it. I couldn't catch up, and didnt know what to do. I stopped answering the phone and stopped paying. Several collection agencies have called me on this account and have been rude, condescending, and threatening along with harassing me. I accidently gave them my home address which I now realize was a huge mistake. The Jerold Kaplan Law Office in Phoenix has sent me a summons for court. I am supposed to go up to the courthouse and pay court costs or something like that. They gave me 20 days to do this.

    During an harassing call, I offered to pay $25.00 and month and Trenda Darnell of Jerold Kaplan's Law office said that was unacceptable. They wanted $169.00 for 10 months ($1690.00). I am barely making expenses even today but am trying very hard. I am a 60 year old woman living alone. I was hoping that the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act would protect me but I dont know where to begin to the process as I have until June 30th to pay $979.00 to this law office which the Flagstaff, AZ legal aid office set up.

    I realize there are many people like me out there including my 86 year old aunt who once told me she actually charged up to $10,000 on her Capitol One card and she now owes $25,000. This extortion in some form it seems to me and ANYONES help would sure be gratefully accepted. Thank you for your assistance and time in advance.

    It has affected me physically just worry about this - causing headaches, muscle aches and FEAR! I work very hard on being balanced which does take time leaving in an unproductive status.

    I have a had my Capital One card for several years and unfortunately went over my limit. I understood the first overlimit fee, however, I paid the minimum required by the statement which would have put me under the limit, untill they stuck another late fee on. This has happened three times now. Of course, you can't really cancel the card until it is paid off.

    On top on that I reported some charges on my card that were not mine. I used the web site to report it but nothing has happened. Then I emailed to complain about the over limit charges and they emailed me back with a number to call. I called the number, voiced my complaints, like they cared and told them about the unaruthorized charges, they said you need to talk to this department I will transfer and of course I got disconnected.

    Can't cancel or use my card.

    I just opened an On-line MM account. After making an initial deposit by check I used the Capital One ACH transfer function to transfer additional funds into this new account from another bank. Well the transfer booked and was debited from my sending account on 6/3 but still hasnt posted to my Capital account. After calling the Capital One help line I was told it takes 3 days to post. Now this is an ACH transfer so basically Capital One sits on my funds for 3 days collecting interest.

    Goes without saying once the hold drops off of the original check deposit I'll be closing the account. Just sharing my experience so others are aware. On a second note its my understanding that by making a check deposit into Capital One and with them placing a 10 hold which I understand it is still a Reg. CC requirement they mail me a hold notice with the hold details which I never received.

    I bought my daughter an Acura. The car was rear-ended and totalled. AIG was to pay off the car. I never received anything from Capital One regarding the pay-off. Next thing I know, there is a derogatory report on my credit until 2014. Apparently the pay-off was not the total owed.

    Capital One is disgusting. No one can help me, no one knows anything. My credit in the meantime dropped into the 500's. I've never had a late payment and would have paid any difference had I known. I'm still clueless and I'm drafting a letter to the CEO. Terrible company!

    I was late on my payment and Cap One sent a repo company to pick up my car. I live in a apartment complex with gated private parking underground. When I went down to the garage my car was on the tow truck, I went to get my wallet and the repo guy jumped on top of me and ripped the keys from my hand. They pulled out a tazer and threaten to use it on me. I went to talk with security and they never gave the repo company permission to enter the premises. I filed a complaint with the police department and obtained a report from the security officer on duty stating they never authorized the company to enter.

    I have a bruise on my arms from where he grabbed me.

    I had a credit card with Capital One, I tried closing it several times. they would not close it & kept charging me interest, it was a nightmare. Finally after a year I managed to get it closed (after paying a year in interest). then i found out that Capital One took over my bank - Northfort- on 03/15/2008 I closed the account, now they are doing the same thing to me again.

    These people send me credit card offers CONSTANTLY, now they've sent me a bill saying I owe $87! I never asked for a credit card, signed for one, etc. I'm a soldier in the Army and just spent two years in IRaq. THe last thing I want is to come home and waste 15 minutes of my time on the phone in some call tree to fix this!

    I made a couple late credit card payments and my rate went up from 9.9% to over 20%. But after even a couple years of good payments, the rate never went down. I called customer service and they sent the request to another department. They stated it usually takes a couple months. It's been longer and still no change. The customer service rep I talked to instantly verified I had a good payment record. But it would still take an entire department MONTHS to review my request. Is this legal? (I've seen class-action lawsuits about similar foot-dragging.) My credit score is in the high/mid-700's.

    The times I cannot pay off my monthly balance forces me to pay at an exorbitant interest rate. The length of time this penalty has been in effect is disproportionate to the minor infraction of what happened so long, long ago. I'm sure CapitalOne has benefited millions of dollars from this foot-dragging.

    Capital One froze my credit card account with a balance of $474.00 in August of 2007, preventing me from paying on the account or receiving any communications from them until November '07 when I performed my annual credit check, only to discover they had reported a negative statement to the credit bureau indicating I was several months behind in my payments.

    Within a few days after disputing their claim I began to receive a least three phone calls from their collections a day, 7 days a week for the next several months, even though I spoke with their collection representatives and managers on many occasions, explaining to them that I was not responsible for the deliquency of my account but, to no avail. I also wrote them on several occasions explaining the situation and all they did was refer me to their collections dept. phone number whom I had already spoken with several dozen times.

    In February '08 I wrote to them and demanded them to stop calling me and they finally stopped a couple weeks later. They then turned my account over to NCO collections and they began calling me and sending me threatening letters until I mailed them a certified letter indicating I was disputing Capital One's claims at which time the account was returned to Capital One. From July 2007. until February 2008, credit card account had increased from $474.00 to $894.43.

    Due to the erroneous and negative information reported to the credit bureaus my FICO score has dropped over 100 points and I have been denied credit from other creditors on several occasions. I used their credit card for two years and never was late in making payments. Captial One also financed an automobile for me, was never late in making payments and ultimately paid the auto loan off in good standing. I have offered on many occasions to pay them the initial balance of $474.00 but have refused to pay the additional interest charges and have asked them to remove the negative information from my credit files, which at this time, they have refused to do.

    These people have harrassed me for over a year. We had an account for over 7 years and we paid it off. We were never late on a payment. One month after we thought it was paid off, we received a bill with charges that we never charged. Again, I thought I had closed the account.

    Evidently, although I am now questioning if this even happened, someone got our account number and started charging things. When I called to tell them these were not my charges and that I closed the account, they told me that the account has to be closed for 60 days, with no charges on it for 60 days, in order for it to actually be closed. What?

    After many, many screaming matches on the phone and many letters, I finally had to write to the District Attorney's office to get resolution. They finally closed my account, but I now have a derogatory comment on my credit reports that say I was 90 days late. I have written letters to all reporting agencies, but the report just says paid on time, account closed. They never took off the 90 days late remark. If there is ever a class-action suit, I would join in heartbeat.

    My credit card was stolen and used. My house was broken into so I don't know who took my card. I know they activated it from my home phone and set up their own pin number. My son's cell phone was also taken and used to check the balance of the credit card. I did not know my sons cell phone was taken until at a later date so when Capital One asked if I knew the number I said yes. This was before I even knew my house had been broken into.

    I filed a fraud report with capital one and Tina W took off the charges. I filed a police report as requested from capital one and faxed it to them.Tina W put the charges back on my card because she said there was no evidence of fraud.She said because the police were not going to persue it she was going to hold me liable. She would not listen to me nor did she believe me when I said my house had been broken into even though it was vertified by the police.And just because I mentioned my son's name she automatically made him the guilty party and I would pay for it.

    I feel my civil rights are being violated, I'm being discrimated against and my consumer rights are being denied. The guarantee they advertise is that you will not pay any fraud related charges and they are all fraud related. My son denies doing the charges and I gave the police his name to talk to. I can not control what the police investigates and what they do.Sherry told me to go to the court house and file charges myself against my son even though we don't know who did it.

    Karen, whose employee number is wnd 294 so she said, stated she was my case manager and she had no supervisor and that she was the end of the line for me. My requests to talk to legitimate supervisor were denied. Karen couldn't have been a supervisor because she was not a professional. She didn't talk like one or act like one. No where could I find in Capital Ones web site or paperwork did it require that a police report be filed much less persued, In order for these charges to be taken off. But it does say if they are fraud and they are, they will be taken off I do not have to pay.This I believe is identity thief and Fraud.

    We receive to much junk mail from [Capital One]. Everyday there are at least 2 or more credit card offers and we are tired of [their] killing trees. Offers are for [me] who is only 17. [Someone who] doesn't live with us. We don't want any more credit card Offers. So we are all opting out of Capital One for the next 5Years.

    On May 29th I had a $392 charge declined when picking up my 3 dogs from the vet/groomer. I have never had a charge declined and was both embarassed and confused. Fortunately I had another card with me and was able to pay the charge. I immediately called Capital One customer service to find out why the charge was declined. According to them I had over $9,000 of available credit. Reaching a respresentative that you can understand is very difficult. The first one was so difficult to understand that I had to ask her to repeat everything at least twice. Once she looked up my account she said I needed to be transferred to someone else. She put me on hold for 5 or 10 minutes.

    The next person identified themselves as being with the Fraud Department. I repeated my problem and he puts me on hold to look into it. When he returns he tells me that the account is okay to use now. That's it! I ask him why it was refused in the first place and he tells me that the computer flagged the charge as possibly fraudulent but that he had cleared the account. I asked him why the charge was considered fraudulent. I was trying to figure out if there was a pattern they were picking up on, anything that I could identify to prevent this from happening in the future. What good is it to have a card in my wallet that you have no way of knowing when/if it will be declined. He told me couldn't tell me that so I asked for a supervisor. He puts me on hold again for 5 or 10 minutes and then another person comes on the phone. She starts off again with asking for my credit card number.

    Have these people never heard of technology? Why do I have to keep repeating the information I have already provided. Anyway, she was very rude and not in the least bit helpful. In frustration, I thanked for her time and disconnected the call. About an hour later I tried again. The representative I reached initially asked how she could help me. I asked her to transfer me to a supervisor. She asked me to allow her to try to help me first. I responded that I appreciated her offer but had already called once and would rather just be transferred. She was very nice and did as I asked.

    The next person, supposedly a aupservisor, was very nice as well. Both of these individuals were much nicer than the first ones. She listened to my problem, apologized for the inconvenience and then asked me to hold while she looked into my account. When she returned she explained that because charge was higher than what I had charged over the last 6 months it was flagged as possibly fraud. Keep in mind that my dogs go to the groomer and the vet every 8 weeks so there were repeated charges to this merchant that should have prevented a fraud flag. I will give her credit for allowing me to voice my frustration without cutting me off. However, she could not tell me that this wouldn't happen again.

    It seems to me that if there is a charge that the computer flags as potentially fraud, there is a better way to handle it than simply declining the charge. Couldn't they just ask the merchant to verify identification or accept the charge then call me for verification? It's not like they couldn't refuse to pay the merchant if they didn't valid my ID. I was most frustrated that the charge was declined outright as if I didn't pay my bills and didn't have any available credit. Since she could not tell me that this wouldn't happen again it doesn't make any sense to carry this card. What good is a card that I can't really use. I asked her to close the account.

    So far no long term repercussions from carrying a Capital One card but after reading the other posts on this site, I am definitely concerned that the story is still not over. I will diligently check my statements in hopes that the account is closed and no additional charges are incurred. The other thing I was amazed by (and also saw in other posts) was that an attempt to close the account doesn't freeze it. She read my a statement that said that if there was an attempted charge to the account (i.e. recurring payments not redirected) then they would automatically re-open the account and charge me a membership fee. I have gone back 6 months worth of statements to make sure I have identified any of these recurring payments and hopefully have caught them all but what a nightmare this could turn out to be.

When calling number on letter to have error created was unable to talk to live person with any option offered. I went to email address and found your site underneath so I thought I would inform you. Now they are sending items out to anyone they can attract. If I had not gotten letter first my son might have been foolish enough to reply.     I received an escrow refund check from Washington Mutual drawn on their bank account with Chase Bank. I deposited the chech into my CapitalOne checking account on May 20, 2008. Three days later the funds were still not available so I went to my local branch to find out why there was a hold on the funds. I was told that at CapitalOne, deposits are randomly selected to be verified and since 9-11, no banks will verify fund anymore. So the funds would not be available to me until June 3, 2008. I asked if I could just get the check back so I could take it to my other bank, and I was told that they don't know where the check is now, it's in processing somewhere. They would not call while I was there to try to verify this check. Instead, the instructed me to go to Chase Bank and ask for a written statement on Chase letterhead that the check had been verified.

    I called Chase Bank from CapitalOne and explained this to them and they said they would verify it over the phone, but CapitalOne said "No", it has to be on letterhead. At this point, I am in utter disbelief, but I am just trying to do whatever I can to get the money that I desperately needed in my account. I go to Chase Bank and they said they could not do this letter for me that is not how banking works and that all CapitalOne had to do was call to get the funds verified. I left in tears because no one would help me.

    The next day, which was Saturday, I spent an hour on the phone with different people trying to get help, but only getting different stories from each person I talked to and empty promises. I called again on May 27, and was told that once the hold was put on the check there was nothing they could do. Bottom line, it is May 29, 2008 and I still do not have the funds and there is basically nothing I can do. I never imagined when I opened a CapitalOne account that they would do something like this to me.

    This has caused tremendouse hardship. I have had 6.20 in my account since before I deposited the check from Washington Mutual. I have not paid bills that are due because I don't when the money I deposited will be available to me. I left CapitalOne in tears and no one cared. I have had to scrape money here and there for gas and food.

    Called capital one to close account, they say that I cannot close the account as I am not the primary card holder. It is a business account and the person who opened the account has retired and we cannot reach him. We are charged a yearly fee and expected to pay this, we are expect to pay interest on our balance and a late fee but we cannot close the account. Nadia says only Richard can call in or write to close the account, we cannot reach him and should not have to.

    We have been trying since July to close this account, I was in the office when Richard called to close the account almost a year ago. Instead when you ask for a supervisor they discounted the call and you start all over. A total of 6 calls were made by me and I my call was dropped a total of 5 times. Transfered a total of 8 times during the calling process and each time I am not speaking to the correct department, and no one can help as I am not Richard. Charged yearly fee, interest and late fees and all they will do is take money but will not clsoe account.

    Was approved for a Capital One credit card. The next thing I know I receive a letter indicating I'm behind two payments. (I had never even used the card.) According to the statement, I was charged an annual fee. This was unknown to me so because I didn't pay it, I was charged a late fee. Feeling that it was my responsibility to read my statements, even if the card had not been used, I decided to pay it off and cancel the card. (I had no idea there would be an annual fee, and felt no reason to keep a card with that attached.)

    I paid the $50.xx immediately (payment in full), and then asked my account be cancelled. I was on the phone for an hour and a half bounced from person to person. Finally I had to go to work and hung up. When I got the chance to call again I was again on the phone for over two hours, bounced around with each person telling me I had to talk to another department. Finally, I told them that I had destroyed the card and they needed to cancel it immediately or I would report them.

    It is ridiculous that I had to go through that. As a customer, I have the right to cancel the card at any time. I took responsibility for my oversight and paid the balance. However, they didn't want to take responsibility of my request. I will never deal with them again and I will warn others not to either.

    Capital One bugs me, like for a year or more about paying off bill all at once, saying I can get this set amount already approved. They fill my mail box every week, call my phone every day, and when I apply there turn me down. On the same job for 32 years, two 401K's, and vested pension ready to reinvest and they try to ruin my credit. Never missed a payment. This is wrong.

    An employee opened an acct in my Business name with me as the principle and her as a secondary user.She proceeded to charge $4300 in 30 days and was having the bill sent to her home even though she used my business address to open the acct.She only worked for me for 90 days from june 15th 07 to sept 27th 07.

    I received a call from Capitol one on 10-31-07 asking for a min payment of $231 at which time I told them I didn't have a capitol one acct and didn't want one.They told me the acct was opened on 8-07-07 and wanted to know who a vicki was.They said she opened this acct in my name and had the bills sent to her home address.Now she told the police that since I could only pay her $8 an hour I gave her this credit card to use.

    Now charges are over $5400 with interest and late fees and they call me 5 times a day 7 days a week, even on holidays.I've asked them at least 12 times to put me in contact with a Spencer who is supposed to be handling my case but they always say we cant guarantee you'll get him and when they transfer me they disconect me.They have givin me NO HELP in persuing charges and have told the police they denied my claim but have never even asked me what happened.This is a poor company to deal with.Once I told them I wanted to press charges they just keep calling me for the money.How do you get these people off your back.

    I have high blood pressure and since this occured I have had to close my business and have not been able to get my pressure under control.The stress with them calling 5 times a day is starting to mount up.I've had to come back to Indiana from Florida to see if my old doctor here can help get my BP back down.

    Someone made an emergency cash withdrawal from my credit account. I've had a credit account with capital one for over 6 years and have never done so. I contacted them immediately to advise them that this was a fraudulent withdrawal and that i wanted to close my account. they said they would not close my account, with the new balance. Instead they would freeze it until the charge was under investigation. That was literally 2 hours later, and after talking to no less than 8 different 'customer service' representatives.

    3 weeks later I went online to see if there was any updated status on my account and noticed there was another $500 cash withdrawal taken out when my account was supposedly frozen, I immediately called a representative to find out what was going on and again they transferred me and then the phone went out. I know they are intentionally making this the most painful process possible so that i will give up, pay the balance so that i can move on with my life.

    Sometime in January 2008, I've requested customers relation of capital one to close my account via phone call which he replied it would be closed eventually but reminded me of a charge of $11.00 for calling them. In spite of the request am still receiving monthly bills of $6.04 for two consecutive months of February and March, I have zero balances after paying these months as well as when I requested for a cancellation last January.

    On April bill of $6.04, I deliberately forgot it. And this month the new balance went up $35.89 with an inclusion of $11.91 purchases that i did not actually make plus 25.15% APR plus a finance charge of $0.50 for a total of $35.89.

    They have the worst customer service in the world! Their website is always giving error messages. Recently my purse was stolen, I reported it and it has taken me at least 10 phone calls with rude agents (including getting disconnected from the line multiple times) to get any help to dispute the fraudulent charges. I don't know how they retain their customers because they are horrible! I will certainly pay them off ASAP and NEVER conduct business with them again. I will make sure to tell everyone I know that their customer service is the worse from any financial institution that I know. By comparison my credit union had my matter resolved within hours.

    After 11 days, I have yet to receive a statement to review fraudulent charges.

    I all of a sudden started seeing unauthorized charges pop up on my credit card (that I dont even use) from a place called credit inform each month charging me for some free credit report that I did NOT sign up for. I contacted Capital One about this the first time as a dispute and they removed the charge.

    This second time around, I have tried to contact Capital One only to be timed out on the website, hung up on the phone and have gotten no where. They will not remove the charge and will not let me close my account. They transferred me to credit inform which is an affiliate of capital one and my account with them is supposed to be closed but the charge is still on my statement. They are running a huge scam together and something needs to be done about this!

    I am not paying this bill so I'm assuming late fees and charges will accrue making my credit report and score look bad.
