2012 Kia Sorento - My parents bought the Kia brand new. The driver's side seat adjustment contraption has broken twice now! They did replace it the first time for free, but I'm not so sure about this time. There needs to be something other than a piece of plastic holding that contraption in place.

On 07/08/2015 I was visiting my parents at their home and when it was time to leave, I told my children to go ahead and get in the car. The reason I was ok with this is because I had the keys in my hand!! I said goodbye and walked out the door not 2 minutes later, and my car was gone. My 4 year old was able to disengage the car from park and my car rolled 75 feet down hill, it finally stopped by coming to rest on a tree. During this time my 6 year old was thrown from the vehicle because he was in the process of getting in the car. He ended up with a laceration on his head and a trip to the hospital where he had to have a CT scan.

Once we had the car towed up my father was able to do the same thing with the car, he disengaged it from park while the keys were not in it, his feet were also not in the car. So my car is able to come out of park without the keys and without depressing the brake.

I have since found others reports of this online. This is highly unacceptable to me. We contacted the service manager at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and he was of no help to us. I have just made a formal complaint to Kia, but who know what will come of this. To anyone who is looking to buy a Kia please check that this will not happen in your vehicle. I would hate for someone else, or someone else to get hurt.

We have a 2013 Kia Sorento we bought in 2012. Last year my wife informed me 3 different times that when she would back out into traffic after picking our children up from day care, the SUV would stall. It was inspected by Kia a few times. They were not able to find anything wrong. They took out the electric starter thinking that was the problem and put a new one in. We had no issues until this year when my wife backed out and almost was rear-ended. I went in to Kia and spoke to the manager where we bought the Kia. They informed me that they don't know what the problem is. They are not able to reenact the stalling, so nothing happens. What is frustrating is I called Kia Canada and all they can do for us is Record the issues that I have had, nothing else.

What is it going to take, for my wife to back out into traffic and be rear-ended after the Kia stalls? I have a 3 and 7 year olds still in car seats. As a Father and husband, my blood boils to think that they have no idea what is causing this which puts my family in imminent risk. And having a factory warranty that is no good to me? My family is everything to me. I feel trapped as I cannot afford to lose 10 to 12 thousand dollars if I sell. I cannot justify selling the vehicle to someone else as I cannot, nor will be responsible if the vehicle stalls and someone gets hurt or worse, killed. So I pray!!!

I like my 2013 Kia Sorrento. It's a great car. But I do not like that the vents in the third row were removed from this model. 2011 Sorrento has them. I have to use the third row and twice already my 6 year old and 4 year old have complained they do not get air back there. They get dizzy, light headed, nauseated, vomited! And felt weak. In this CA heat that is not safe!!! I am worried for my children. And avoid driving if it's hot. That's not ok. I've only had the car 1 year.

I took my car in 2 months ago. My speedometer had stopped working, was consistently reading 0. In addition my passenger side blinker wasn't working. Also my seat belt had frayed. They checked into it, sent it home with me that day, said "the computer didn't see anything wrong with the speedometer so it must be the cluster. We will order one in with your seat belt." 1 week later I received a phone call. My seat belt was in. I didn't want to lose my car twice so I said "I would bring it in when the cluster was in too" and was told she would get back to me. One month later I take my car in and ask about the cluster. I've been driving without a speedometer too long. Turns out they needed my car in the shop to ship current cluster away, would have been nice to know!

So it took 2-3 days, the rental was great and they said "come pick up your car. It's fixed." They changed 3 light bulbs apparently, only the one signal was out though. And it cut in and out so I didn't figure bulbs did that but whatever. And the cluster was changed. I love how no one tested it!!! I was doing 0 on the Hwy home and called them to say it's still doing 0 and my blinkers not working. So I had to go back the next day. They said they would look into it and call me. I asked for by 3:30 cause I had to pick up my kids with it or a car. At 3:30 the masters of communication at performance Kia had not yet called so once again I had to call them. A poor lady answered said they need my car to figure it out and the guy had already put me down for a rental. Thanks for telling me. Also thanks for not verifying with enterprise that they had a car. Wound up going through national, once again their customer service was great! Loved the rental.

And had it not been for the people at national leaving me a voicemail and text message, I would not have known my car was "ready" for pick up. And if I got there any later than 4 I'd have to pay that day myself (this message was at 2). I realized later I had one single missed call from Kia at 1:02 and no message was left and I don't have my phone on me but was consistently checking my messages! I had to cancel my appointment that is necessary for me to attend every two weeks to have time to get there. I get there they tell my speedometer had stopped working because of my accident. This accident they keep telling me about is me banging up my bumper on a snow bank 1 month after I got the car 2.5 years ago. So tell me how my speedometer runs off my bumper! My ex is a mechanic there is no way that could happen.

They are attempting to cover their butts for their faulty wiring after they went through various parts and clusters. Needless to say once more they have sent me home with an unsafe car that they told me was safe and driveable!!! Due to their inability to navigate their own electrical system I now have absolutely no lights on my front driver side (Fog blinker and headlight all out completely illegal!! And it was fine when I brought it there.) and my passenger front blinker is still out. The customer service manager was rude and it's impossible to communicate with ** who make it seem like there's never a problem and if it is it's your own fault.

Currently awaiting Kia Canada's call back because they can have it towed in because I'm not getting in an accident because they continuously test life and ability to not get ticketed through their inability to do their jobs and test stuff before they send it home. :( I'm just sick of the same problem and can't get anywhere with this! I'm at a standstill.

Customer service was horrible... offering no assistance, excuses or closure. Apparently they stand by a vehicle only lasting 113,000 miles. I have done all of the required maintenance and then some. And I had to call the regional office customer service for 3 days before I talked to anyone. Now the dealership wants money for a misdiagnosis and a broken car... This car has been nothing but a headache! For starters, the mileage stated in my sales agreement is about 6,000 less than what was actually on the vehicle at the time of purchase. I didn't catch this discrepancy until about a month later when I brought it in for an oil change. I tried contacting a regional manager, who promised to look into the matter, but continuous staff turnover lead me nowhere and I was very pleased with the vehicle at the time, so I just gave up, which I clearly regret.

After about a year's time, I needed to replace the battery, which I paid for out of pocket because I was told it was only good for 30,000 miles. I just discovered this is not true and it should be covered for 2 years?! Soon after, my car broke down on Christmas Eve and I was told it was something to do with my fuel injectors. Once that was fixed, it broke down AGAIN a few months later and Kia kept it for weeks trying to figure out the problem. They put in a new computer, and when that didn't work, they replaced the whole transmission. This was covered under warranty.

Just last week I was pulling out of a parking lot, and another car was speeding around a corner so I accelerated hard in order to avoid being hit. Then my car just stalled, so I pulled over and tried to restart it. All my warning lights came on and it wouldn't turn over. Also, a bit of smoke was coming from the engine. I had it towed to the dealership, and now they tell me the engine is seized because there was NO oil in the car. I had my oil changed less than 3 months ago, but I am just now due for one based on mileage. No oil lights came on prior to stalling, no signs of oil leaks anywhere, and no noises at all.

The repairs are not covered under warranty because I am missing 2 service records, and there are times where I have gone about 1,000 miles over the recommended miles between oil changes (I was told about every 7,500 miles at time of purchase). There are 83,000 miles on the vehicle now, and I am so upside-down in my loan it's not even funny.. not to mention I am 8 months pregnant! This car is the biggest regret of my life!

Last time my father and I look at the engine, some of the parts were very rusted, NOT the engine. If you are facing the hood of the car, this metal piece is located on your left, it is very rusted. The salespeople tells me "it's ok, it's rusted due to Minnesota weather" and all but I am not sure it should be in that condition. I really like this car but not sure if I should spend 18K on it.

The ECMs re-flash/recall, this ECM re-flash, consisted of updating the software originally supplied from the car maker, and changing the ECMs Air/Fuel Ratio Algorithms to suit the car's fuel air ratio. This new software seems to keep the turbos waste gate open too much during wide open throttle causing the turbo not to spool up all the way resulting in boost loss, and obviously power loss.

My question is, why update the software, instead of replacing a potentially faulty part that part being the FCV or Fuel Control Valve? Oh yeah, it's cheaper than re-engineering of the faulty FCV, and replacing it with one that does not have a design flaw, better and even more expensive is, why not replace it with a tried and true fuel pressure regulator? Oh yeah cost, so KIA decided to take the easy route it seems, and detune the car, so the car does not reach full boost saving the faulty FCV. It appears they want to remove the power because the turbo is located near the firewall and placed on the back side of the engine.

If the pressurized part & the axial lode of the turbo fails, and is spinning at an average of 150,000, this can act like a grenade under the hood throwing shrapnel everywhere, possibly causing both driver and passenger injury or death, as the force of pieces of hot steel and aluminum from the axial load, plus the inertia of rotating blades at 150,000 rpm would penetrate through the firewall into the front seat. I am now afraid to drive this car, let alone trade it in knowing it could hurt someone.

Very disappointed with the KIA product. As a owner of a 2013 Kia Sorento w/ 32000 miles, I am now stuck with a 2013 goat shelter due to blown engine. KIA has failed to stand by warranty even though maintenance was done, but not by them. Just pushing blame onto service center where oil was changed. Engine blew with no warning -- no lights, no bells, no whistles -- just died on the side of road. Dealer says if they are responsible for anything it would be a blown light bulb in the check engine or low oil warning.

Vehicle had traveled 2000 miles after oil change with no problem, so I find very hard to believe the service center failed to put in oil. Cost $110.00 to find out they were not going to cover under warranty. Initially bought vehicle due to warranty. Vehicle was misrepresented since I purchased. Gas mileage was misrepresented, equipment promised was misrepresented. Really feel like KIA Motors has given me the shaft. KIA MOTORS AMERICA = KMA = KISS MY **!!! I guess this is really what they are telling me.

Stupid stuff Kia did: Can't install a cargo cover in base model, I guess they don't want to sell them; Can't purchase body side moldings, I guess they want you to bring the car into their shops to fix all the dings. The only thing that saves this car is the warranty.

Called Kia, stated I have had a sensor problem concerning air bag. And that they replaced the seat assembly once before because the sensor is housed there. The red warning light remains. I spoke to them and said I finally saw my year make and model was under recall. However, even though looking at their paperwork and agreed it was done, told me my car is not under the stated warranty recall of Kia Rio 2006 to 2008 because they assemble it in 05. Needless to say I'm very displeased. And he was unwilling to discuss a solution as it has never been taken care of.

I remain with warning light. And I like my little car but don't think I would buy again or my family... as they are aware of problem and will not correct. And the person I just spoke to said that their dealer was a liar, when they said the sensor was located in front passenger seat. Funny as Kia replaced seat free of charge during first year... but with same issue. My hopes to finally have fixed right when I saw the make year and model of my car under recall for my issue got slammed down again. I remain with red warning light and no resolve.. And he was not a nice person to talk with either.

My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized. We brought it to the dealer and they asked for service records. When we provided them they still would not honor the warranty. They said it could be improper maintenance and said we had to prove it was their fault. (Since we had gone to Firestone and a few other places for oil changes, they can now say it was their fault not KIA's and we would then have to fight a different vendor to replace the engine.)

I was initially too shocked to be angry, but when they said we could pay them to take apart the motor to prove fault, I spoke to another mechanic who has dealt with this before. He said they are not likely to find anything that will prove anything either way and we will just be out an additional 500 dollars. I am now taking the only recourse I have without money for a lawyer. I am telling every outlet I can find to go with a different company. This feels like fraud to me. We did what was asked of us in the handbook and they just don't want to honor their warranty. It never says anywhere that if you don't use KIA for everything, you might as well write off your warranty. So now we are stuck without a car and with a probable 5K cost facing us because we did the right thing.

It is not honest or fair that a car from 2012 with 40K miles has a dead engine. There are plenty of reviews about this type of thing on the internet. I recommend you look long and hard before falling for the same trick we did. We probably won't have a choice since there are still 3 years on the note so we can't really do anything but let them bully us. Please consider any other car before KIA. #dontbuyKIA #KIA

I am writing for my roommate **. She is not in the best health. One year ago she bought a 2008 Kia Rondo after her 2006 Kia blew up a few days after the warranty ended. This Kia was a certified used car which means to us it is just a regular car. The first day the rear door was stuck. The dealer had to cut the door off to open it and replace the door. They paid for it. Since then she went to get it inspected and the front coil spring had broken, the brakes all the way around are completely shot and an exhaust pipe is leaking before the cat converter. They refused as well as Kia to repair anything since it is out of warranty.

She bought an extended warranty which is useless, since in my experience, they never pay for anything. But since the car was coming from one of the largest dealers in the area we thought they would stand behind it... What a joke!!! One other thing that slipped my mind but it is not something they would fix anyway. I was driving on the interstate last summer with cruise on at 65 mph, got pulled over and got a 200.00 ticket for speeding at 95 mph. I paid the ticket and got the charges reduced so as not to get my license suspended. I guess we will have to pay for the repairs, but both Kia and the dealer will lose our business and everyone we know as well!!

2014 KIA CADENZA. I have been a Kia owner for the past 10 yrs. I previously owned the AMANTI that I loved very very much, until the very end when I decided to trade in for a new Cadenza. But I seem to have a internal noise problem with the cadenza. I noticed the clicking noise about 200 mile. I took it to the dealer, however they said could not find a problem. I returned again after 300 miles, still with the problem. The sales manager advised me to wait until after 500 miles to open a case with Kia. I returned the auto after 900 miles, they looked into it.

On Nov 13th 2014 they wrote the following on the work order "PIT STOP P5282 SIDE CENTER OF SUNROOF, NOISE COMING FROM LOOSE SCREWS HOLDING SUNROOF CURTAIN IN PLACE: 85310R00 3.2 HEADLINER BAR, 81651 - 3R500... FAILED PART, RE-SECURED AND PREFORMED PIT STOP FOR RATTLE." Well after month later the problem return, I wrote an email complaining to dealer that noise appears to have return.

On 01/06/15 I took the car back to the dealership for the same noise. The dealership found no problem and wrote the following: "TEST DROVE CAR WITH TECHNICIAN FOR 7 MILES OVER VARIOUS ROAD SURFACES AND OVER BUMPS COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, NO PROBLEM FOUND." Problem still exist. The dealership indicated that they drove the car for over 7 miles and found no problem, however I had noted the mileage on the car and found that the car had only been driven under a mile. I filed a complaint sales manager at the dealership, which the service manager admitted that they did not drive the car only around the block.

I preceded to file a compliant with Kia customer service and meet with the District Manger. It took about 2 weeks to confirm the meeting at the dealership. I finally met with DM who drove with me and agree there was a problem. It took over 2 more weeks to schedule a repair date. On 3/25/15, Once again I returned the car to the dealership and they found a problem. Stating the following: C/S noise coming from roof of vehicle near the roof. Please check and advise. Effective part # 81630R500. Found edge of sunroof plate bolts were over torqued causing rail to sit improperly in track adjusted to Kia specs and road tested with technician and Kia DSPN, adjusted sunroof plates, no noise present at this time.

Once again the noise has come back and even worst, metal bouncing inside of sunroof. I stop by the dealership on 4/14 and talked to the service manger, which rode with me and agreed there was a noise. He preceded to advise me that he would contact the DM of Kia and call me when arrangement made. On 4/16/15 the service manager called stating still waiting on DM call back. On April 22, he contacted me stating which day early next week was good. On April 24th contact SM and advised him that on April 28th at 10 am would be fine to meet with the SM and DM. To my surprise, the DM was not present. I advised the SM to contact me when the DM would show up so that I was involved in the loop. However, that did not occur.

On 4/29 the service manger advised me by phone that no problem was found. I have requested once again to meet with the DM and take the service manager and District Kia manager on a ride, so they understand the noise factor. I have requested to meet the DM through the Kia customer service and Service manger at the dealer, once again review the problem and take test drive with me present. Still waiting for a response as of 5/1/15.

I am extremely unhappy with the noise of this cadenza, most passenger hear the noise. Now the dealer is sending messages that I need to return the loaner car, because KIA is not going to pay for the use of the loaner. So now they are threatening me with billing my credit car for a dealer loaner. I have not heard from KIa regarding this matter as of yet. Frankly I am beginning to dislike the fact that I purchased this cadenza, though I was extremely happy with my KIA AMANTI. CASE # **. One of the solutions has been to have the sunroof completely changed according to other kia cadenza owners who have experienced the same situation.

What started out as a seemingly annoying problem went from bad to worse. The fan on my heater/air conditioner wouldn't turn off. I immediately called Kia and was told "not a problem" - bring it in and they will take care of it - earliest appointment was almost 2 weeks. THEN, about 8 days later the "idiot" lights related to the fan started flashing. Called again, "not a problem - probably set off a sensor due to the fan running". THEN, while driving on the freeway, all the dashboard lights related to speed, mileage, gas level... went OUT along with the headlights. Called immediately and was told I could drop it off but they didn't have any loaners so it was decided I would bring it in the next day.

When I came in, I was told I would be charged $102 for a "diagnostic" test - since it had to be done I agreed. After waiting 3 hours they said they couldn't find the problem so I got a RENTAL for $35 a day. After waiting all day to hear something, I got a call - still no resolution and it would cost me AT LEAST another "couple of hundred" to continue to locate the problem. NO CHOICE!!! I had to agree - I needed my car back. So today I get a call - the wiring harness which controls everything frayed and melted!!! And SURPRISE, it's not covered. How the heck is that not a problem with the product??? So, now I have to pay over $1000 to get it fixed. UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! BUYER BEWARE.

Well today 4/17 I went to start my car and is dead again, unknown why. We called to have Kia to come tow and speak to a sales manager cause the service department was closed as per secretary. She advised speak to a sales manager, left message, didn't get a call back. Called again and was told only one manager and we would have to wait until 4/18 to speak with someone. In the meantime I don't have a car and I have a disabled five year old with health problems and spends a lot of time in the hospital. What am I to do if something happens? Call a cab, better yet. Every month I go to Boston Massachusetts to Boston Children's hospital. What if this happened going there and I was stuck. This would be a huge health risk. I want a new car. This is ridiculous!!

I bought my car in 2013. With it brand new, it had 25 miles on the car. There were issues from the beginning. Every time I took my car into a Kia dealer with a shop to look at my car they always said there's no problem. One of the last times I took it in they found it, my sub-frame was so loose that it was so surprising that I didn't get into an accident. I had a tear in my driveshaft boot, and a few other electrical problems. (They were all fixed after a year of driving the car.)

Now this is why I'm writing this review. I was in an accident in January 2015 (other persons fault). Her insurance worked really fast to get a payoff check to Kia. They got the check on February 28, 2015. It is now April 16, 2015 and they still have NOT processed the check and applied it to my account so I can get everything else taken care of. I don't understand how a HUGE car dealer has not processed this check and every time I call to find out whats going on and why they haven't they say the same thing, "WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT".

What how in the world do they not know what to do with it. It's been 2 months since they've had this check and again every time I call and have to explain AGAIN, they tell me the same thing "It'll be processed in 5 to 7 business days." I am so disappointed with this car company. I will never refer anyone to them nor will I ever go back through them again.

They tested it and said that the car needed some parts. I changed the turbo and other parts which would cost over $1000 since warranty would not cover it cause it's for maintenance and they charge me for filters more than $400. Since 2009 the car has in the mechanical shop more than 8 months, the last time the car was for 7 months, looking for some solution - at the end they changed the engine for a 3/4 engine. Two weeks after that the car was in the mechanic shop because did not turned on, and they change the turbo, and every week we need to return again for different failures.

The car is in the mechanical shop again since more than 2 weeks without solution. This karma comes since 2009 and I do not have the chance to enjoy the car.

I called back Kia and schedule an appointment to talk with somebody but nobody answer or return my calls. They never wanted to apply the warranty and in general charge me for a lot of parts that are warranty. We need to make a case for Kia to approve engine change. "Since the car was under warranty although they never solve the problem and were waiting until the warranty expired." I tried to contact the corp many times but they never answer the mail or complaints. I decide to delegate this case to a lawyer cause I am so tired about this car and do not receive solution. I bought a 2011 Kia Rio5 in the spring of 2011 from Kia Sudbury. Since then I've had nothing but horror from the vehicle and nothing but the same problem over and over again. I spent 24.000 and the car is breaking from new to now with the same continuous problems. I've had the mechanic at Sudbury Kia dent my car while being serviced and they denied it. Sudbury Kia does not sell the tires for the Car they sold me. They also do not offer wheel alignments which is sad when you want your winter tires out in or your alignment set after they do the inner barring 3 times on the same tire.

Even after an alignment at Fountain Tire in Sudbury, My 2011 Kia Rio5 has blown 6 coil packs and a cylinder update from 30000 and till now. New radio 2 weeks after buying the car. Because the button paint cracked all over the deck I've had the same cobweb in my rpm gauge because Kia Sudbury didn't want to take the dash apart after me just buying the car and noticing it shortly after.

My inner barring has blown 3 times on the front passenger side of the car. The car won't stay aligned. I've had Sudbury Kia Fix the lights in the interior of the car and got oil all over the roof and didn't install the right light and broke the other one and now it hangs there only because the guy couldn't put the light back into the ceiling of the car. The back latch on the car locked up because of a piece of foam Kia seals the back lock with. The foam breaks after a while and gets stuck in the door, leaving you without a rear door.

If you boost the car it blows the fuses for the radio and lights, it doesn't start in the cold and if you turn the key every 20 seconds when it doesn't start it will eventually start. When that happened I brought my car to Kia Sudbury and they couldn't help me unless my car didn't start, which it didn't that's why I was bringing it to them, but no help at all. The car is no good on gas. If you're on the highway, the 4th gear stays on too long which leaves you burning gas a lot, the car now is almost finished at 115000. The car is not good and unreliable and costly. Kia damaged my car and didn't help me at all with getting to what was the problem. They just covered it up. My car is now a really loud, misfiring riding pop can that costs a lot.

I have a 2015 Kia K 900. It was 8 months since I purchased from Kia Escondido, I had about 5k miles on it when I was hit on the driver side at the rear quarter panel/back passenger door. I was pushed into a center divide and my entire front Qtr Panel and front end was demolished. NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED!! I called Kia and their engineers went out to study/test/read the circuit board to get all logistics at time of impact. They went to investigate the car more than once (car was at the auto body shop) and Kia would not release the car to been inspected by my Mercury Insurance to assess damage. The car sat at Tag Collision center for 51 days before they let Mercury assess the damage.

The car was totaled out by Mercury and the engineers from Kia said that the airbags did not deploy because there were not enough factors involved for them to deploy. I personally was more concerned that considering where and how I was hit that if I had passengers in the back seat that there would have been skulls hitting the door window (place of impact). I figured that Kia would want to know in case they needed to do a recall on the K 900's to protect lives in future accidents. Kia did not allow me to see the report or tell me exactly what factors were involved to as why the airbags did not deploy. But the whole thing raised a red flag when they kept telling Mercury that the car was not ready to be inspected???

I'm just a puzzled and concerned consumer who received no answers but instead a big storage bill from Tag Collision, no thanks to Kia's control of when Mercury Insurance could do their job in a timely manner. Kia offered to sell me another K 900 but I just can't considering I would not feel safe or maybe be as lucky to escape injury if I were to get into another accident where if the airbags did not deploy and was extremely hurt instead of protected. This is for Kia to take notice and for there to be a record that Kia not only knew of this airbag situation but that there was an investigation done and a report on file (just in case there are future issues with consumers regarding this topic).

I received my 2011 Sorento today, after it being at the dealership for nearly three months. It underwent catastrophic engine failure due to a faulty camshaft causing the engine to seize. We are the second owner and the car was 2000 miles over the used car warranty of 60000 miles - the issues we had were exactly the same as what was noted in a class action suit for earlier models. The dealership was fair, providing us with a loaner car after a month of the car being there (we only have one vehicle).

Corporate however was astonishing in its lack of professionalism and dishonesty. Corporate insisted that we have a diagnostic done and that I would not be responsible for it if it showed that we were not at fault, we were not and they did not cover it. They told us and a dealership employee that they would cover half of the engine and labor. They did not and then denied the statement and refused to pull phone tapes that would prove it. I also left over 40 messages for the manager without a single call back. Even the dealership employee said they were notorious for this kind of behavior. I'm disappointed and frustrated and urge anyone dealing with corporate to tape their calls as well. Thank you.

My Kia Sorento 2011 had 59,*** miles on it and it jerks when it shifts at 2nd and 4th gear. I brought it to Jerry Seiner Kia in Salt Lake for service. I told them the prob and I have a strong feeling it's the transmission. They tested it and said there is nothing wrong. I just need to change the transmission oil which would cost over $200 since warranty would not cover it cause it's for maintenance. They also reset the computer box because accdg to them, it saved the driving pattern of the previous owner so they had to reset it. I brought the car to a different place for the oil change.

On my way home, the car still jerks when it shifts. Called Kia and they said wait a couple of days and reiterated that Kia has different engine so it runs and shifts differently from other cars. Waited 2 days and cars still jerks when it shifts. Called back Kia and schedule an appointment. This time the car is on 60k miles but they said they'll honor the warranty since I brought it with the issue before it hit 60k. So they did tests on it and they said they will file a case with Kia and see what Kia says. Kia recommended things to be done but they won't change the transmission.

It became a regular routine to go to Kia every Tues or Wed for 2 months (imagine all the gas I spent going back and forth since the dealership is 24 miles away from my home.) Prob started in Dec. and last week of January they decided to change the computer box. It kind of run smooth for 3 weeks until it starts jerking again and now when it shifts to 4th gear. Brought it back to Kia and the service manager specifically said, "There is something wrong with the transmission. We need to make a case for Kia to approve transmission change." So I told him I wanna make sure it's still under warranty although it's now on 62k miles since I first brought it with the same prob before it hit 60k. He said he'll try his best since "we have all the records."

I waited almost a week for Kia's reply again, and this time they want to reset something again but it will not be covered with the warranty since it's now over 60! It is just ridiculous that I brought it with exactly the same prob before it hit the 60k miles! And I go back and forth to the service dept for 2 mos which is 24 miles away, of course the mileage will add up! And now they won't cover the warranty! Imagine, before it hit 60k miles, tranny probs already! Ridiculous! Will never ever buy a Kia car again! Warranty is BS. Worst car ever! Waste of money!

Purchased a Kia Rondo EXV6 in May 2008. Have had ongoing issues with the transmission which we started to notice around 71,000km. We brought the car in, they didn't find anything wrong. We followed our required maintenance plan and my husband is very particular about high maintenance for our vehicles. My husband purchased the extended warranty. At the time we purchased it he was told the extended warranty covered the car as though it were brand new! My husband specifically asked "if the transmission drops out of this thing at 199,000kms, will it be covered?" Answer was an emphatic “Yes, for sure! Guaranteed!”

That was a lie. We repeatedly brought the car into two different dealerships with transmission complaints. And until last summer, the dealership's diagnostic tests deemed there was no problem found. Each time we had to pay over $100 for the diagnostic only to be told they didn't find a problem. Last summer, there was finally an acknowledgement that they found a problem with the transmission during their diagnostic. We thought “Wonderful, it will finally be fixed!” No such thing. We found out the dealership had to report to the Kia Protect extended warranty insurance company and received permission from them. They sent an adjuster out to 'test' our car. Of course the adjuster said there was no issue and refused the repair.

Approximately two weeks ago, the heater and the heater blower went on the car. We were in an extreme cold alert in our area during that time. I brought the car in for repair and once again reported the problem with the transmission. This time I pinpointed what gears were slipping when shifting and it was getting bad. We received a message from the dealership - they confirmed the transmission was not shifting properly. They indicated they would have to put the claim through the extended warranty company and then wait for approval. In the meantime, they temporarily fixed my heater so I could take my car.

The next week the heat went again and at the same time the dealership asked me to bring the car in for inspection by an extended warranty company assessor. The assessor acknowledged the problem with the transmission and said it needed to be fixed. He commented to the dealership's service department that our car was in really great shape and it was worth doing the repairs because it was in such great shape. We were relieved and happy. We thought this meant the transmission would FINALLY be fixed. The next call we received was from the dealership - they asked us to bring in our proof of maintenance paperwork as the EWC (extended warranty company) was now saying they would reject the repair because we did not follow the recommended maintenance.

We did the required maintenance as outlined in our Owner's Manual and as advised by the dealership. We brought our paperwork in. The next call we received was from the EWC. First they tried to argue with my husband about the 'recommended' maintenance. My husband argued that we performed our 'required' maintenance and that not doing the 'recommended' maintenance did not void our warranty as it wasn't a requirement. When the EWC saw this angle was not going to work, they told my husband that the car was only worth $2500 and the repairs would cost more than that so they would not approve it. My husband argued and we looked up the black book value of our car. We found a car with approximately the same km's was worth at least $4000 more than that.

I took to social media to vent my frustrations and suddenly my husband receives a call from an ombudsman from Kia Canada. He spouted the same crap as the guy before. I again took to social media and then my husband received a call 'offering' us a discounted rate of $900 to rebuild the transmission and this would include the repair of the heater and heater blower. We refused. We don't believe this company is being above board with us. They are not honouring what we were told when we purchased the warranty. This warranty is a scam. If they have no intention of repairing the vehicle then why cover it until 200,000km?!! This company should be reviewed by the government for the sales of these warranties.

I have had nothing but issues with the gas mileage for this vehicle and have complained to the car dealership that I bought the car from several times. It had gotten so bad in fact that at one point, everytime I filled the tank I took pictures of the on dash information and wrote the mileage on my gas receipts to prove to Kia that this is in fact a problem. The estimated gas mileage for this car is supposed to be around 23 miles to the gallon in the city. I am lucky if I am getting 15 mpg.

Point in case I filled the car completely up on Monday. Went 100 miles in the car and had to fill it up again the next day! Now I don't mean it was sitting at a half or a 1/4 when I had to refill, I mean the gas light was on. There was 5 lines across the dash that displays the gas average. I took it into Kia this morning only to be told there is nothing wrong with it, just as they have told me for the past 5 months of owning this car.

This is an on going problem for sure. The range on the gas meter will read a different amount each time it is filled. One moment it may say that I have 283 miles until empty, then the next fill up it will tell me I have 227 miles to empty. I am not sure what is going on here and KIA will not allow me to take it to another mechanic shop. If I do they say they will void all of my warranties that I purchased. So I am stuck with a gas guzzling lemon. What do I do?

I was driving to work and I was only a few blocks away from home so I return and asked my roommate if I can use his car to go to work while I take my KIA to the KIA service department. When I picked up my car, they told me the car's computer just needed an upgrade. I thought it was weird but I was happy it wasn't something worse. I automatically noticed a huge, I mean huge, drop in mpg. I bought the car because it was supposed to be good on mileage, otherwise I would have bought a Prius which was my other choice.

I took it back the next day and they checked it and they said that they found nothing wrong. I was really upset. They gave me a pamphlet that I should read to show me how to get better gas mileage; I was really pissed. I know how to get the best gas mileage out of my car and I do regular oil changes using synthetic - nothing but the best and regular air filter changes everything. I went from getting between 33-37 mpg to 25-28. I am a very upset KIA own. I don't know what else to do.

Our 2014 KIA Sorento audio volume speed control doesn't work when the vehicle accelerate, we have to keep adjusting the volume both when we are at high speed (highway) and low speed (city). The Kia dealer didn't find any fault, so they took the car for a test drive and compared it with other new SUV and they said they noticed that the volume changed barely, but so small (or low) that anyone barely will notice that the volume adjusted itself, and they said without KIA directed them to do something, they can't. So they told me to call KIA and explain the problem and that's were the unwelcome and the frustration came in: I called KIA to explain the problem so I can have a better understanding of what's going!

Everything was going okay 'til I mention the complaint about the volume and she became very angry with me and started to speak very loud! She asked the name of the dealer and the name of the person handling the repair etc., and she said if the dealer said the SUV is working normally then it is. So I tried to explain to her of what the dealer did and how they couldn't diagnose the problem, but she became so angry with me all of a sudden that she was very hard to talk to! So I thank her for her NO HELP and hang up.

I am frustrated with this because I found out that I am not the only Sorento owner with this problem, and the way she was on the defensive, I'm pretty sure she has heard about the problem. I have a 2001 Chevy Impala and it has that audio volume speed control feature and guess what??? It works flawlessly and KIA can't make the same system work on a 2014 model?? Really. I want KIA to look into this problem and update the SUV systems.

Possibly this is some kind of harmonic balance problem. It has gotten a bit worse as we have driven the car. It now has 2000 miles on the odometer. Took the car to local Kia dealer in Amarillo, Tx, Pete's Car Smart, and although the two head mechanics rode with me and clearly heard and felt the problem, they could not make a diagnosis. They had the car for three days, said they had calls into the Kia engineering tech dept., but could not get help. They had me drive another brand new Soul right off of the truck, and it did the same thing. The head mechanic rode with me and he heard and felt it, too. I purchased a 2015 KIA Sorento in July of 2014 at Brockville KIA. It was all I wanted it to be. On November 28/2014 I had an accident. I slid through a T-intersection and into a steep but not deep ditch. I expect I was going 10kph as it was in town and the streets were slippery. The Sorento sustained damage to the front lower bumper and front rim/wheel, however the air bags deployed (curtain bags-ceiling and both front seat air bags).

The Sorento was taken to Carstar Brockville, which shares a lot with the Brockville KIA dealer where I had purchased. On Nov. 29th the estimate came in at approx. $23000 to repair. I was expecting to have truck ready in a couple weeks. It is now Jan. 26th 2015 and I still have no Sorento. Kia Canada's service has been frustrating and extremely disappointing, as they have made many promises about delivery, but to no avail. I have spoken to customer reps at KIA (claim#**) on too many occasions to mention. More frustrations....

As far as Economical Mutual Insurance I believe, if they had done their job in November or early Dec. the Sorento would have been replaced. The parts (air bags/seats were and are still not available). Economical did provide me with a check for $1000 for non-use on rental for the month of Dec. (still in my pocket-not cashed), however it was the end of the benefit at 30 days. Kia Brockville, and Brister Insurance brokers are covering the charges for the vehicle I am using in month 2.

Approaching the end of Jan. and still no delivery dates for missing parts. I have pressured for answers from all involved but have just encountered more frustrations and more false promises. As a first time Kia buyer it has tested my patience and understanding of the system. Economical has done a poor job, only doing what they had to and no more. They even suggested on several occasions that, "It is not our fault" and even suggested that the repair shop put the old seats in and let me drive until new seats arrive (no air bags). The shop refused... I am hoping that you can help.

To understand this KIA dealership in Burton UK, I need to back up a bit. I saw a car on the internet and arranged to view it. On the agreed day I checked to make sure that he car was still available and they said yes. I set off by train from Coventry UK. I had to change at Birmingham UK to catch a train to Burton. At Birmingham I got a call to say that the car has been sold. This sets the background to my subsequent dealings with KIA in Burton. They apologized and promised to let me have first look at another car. (With hindsight, I should have declined.)

I did look at another car, the salesman told me that the car had had only one previous owner who gave up the car because he had epilepsy. We negotiated and agreed on a price based on what I had seen of the car and what I was told. He told me that (1) the car will be checked over and serviced (2) I will have two year free service in 2015 and 2016. When I received my V5C form from DVLA, it had two previous owners. I sent a text on 17/11/14 to the salesman and he did not reply to my query that he told me the car had only one previous owner from October 63. He did not reply.

One morning as I was driving along the road I found that my windscreen washer had frozen. The temperature was barely -1 deg Celsius. When it thawed, I noticed that instead of the normal windscreen solution, it was pure water. Alarm bells started ringing. I checked the Service book and it was not stamped. I then wondered why the boot light has never come on.

I wrote with a list of complaints to the CEO of KIA including that the car had not been serviced. My complaint was passed on to the customer services department saying that the garage was only obliged to top up the windscreen washer (with water by implication) and not to introduce a solution that lowered the freezing temperature of the windscreen washer. I found that astonishing. On the question of previous owners, because I had no documentary or audio evidence to support what I claimed was the gist of the conversation, that was dismissed. Apparently the bulb in the boot and had burnt out from use... by whom I wondered? They asked me to return the service book so that they will stamp it. I refused. I asked whether the two year verbal agreement on servicing the car still holds. No reply. I am intending to send it for servicing and bill the garage and if they refuse to pay, I'll try the small claims court. I paid for the car based on the information given to me which they deny.

What should I do? Can I ask for my money back or reach some form of compromise? I also tend to write to KIA in Korea to complain. I suggested to the customer services that the point that the service book was not stamped is evidence that it was not serviced. There was no counter argument. The scan of the "service" document carried out had no page number so it could have been written any time. What can/shall I do? Anyone have the address of KIA in Korea?

I had the same issue with my 2011 KIA SORENTO. When I went to have my vehicle checked out in April 2013, no service indicator lights were on the dashboard. I actually went in due to a knocking noise when starting it. I was told I needed a new engine due to personal negligence. This information was determined at the second KIA dealership in Highland, Indiana. The first one I went to, in Calumet City, Illinois didn't want to service my vehicle at all even though I was just under the 60,000 mile warranty. My odometer was at 59,000 miles, give or take a few miles. They told me maybe Highland can take my car.

Anyway, that same day and right after they turned my car away, I drive to Highland and I'm told there is oil sludge everywhere and I need a new engine. At this point I'm confused because my oil light and/or engine light was not on nor have they flashed or been lit up on the dashboard ever since I owned the vehicle. The mechanic at Highland was saying I never got my oil changed and even bad mouthed my husband when I said I didn't drive it often enough to know what was being done to my car.

Anyhow, my husband and I can confirm that the oil has been changed. However, the auto shop we frequently use can only provide 1 year worth of receipts. The cars been sitting for about 8 months now. We could hear it getting worst as we were managing our money to have the engine replaced in 2013. We didn't want it getting worst while we were saving up the $6000. So it's been sitting in our garage for the last 8 months until last month when we finally had the $6000 to get the engine replaced. That being said, our auto shop can only provide receipts for 2013 maybe one receipt for 2014. I got the car used in April 2012. So the car was serviced with oil changes from about July 2012 throughout 2013 and maybe one month at the beginning of 2014.

My husband kept saying he never seen an oil light. After he brought it to my attention, I realized I'd never seen an oil light either. We both can confirm having the oil changed as well as paying for an oil pan replacement. And not once did an oil light come on!! So we spent $6000 for an engine just recently at KIA and on the way home from the dealership, after dropping $6000, our car dies out! At this point, I'm livid, and of course the dealership was closed and the next day was Sunday so I had to wait until Monday to call KIA.

That Saturday evening we have our friend, a professional auto mechanic, come over to check out the car to give us his opinion on why the KIA died out on the way home from a $6000 engine repair job. He says we need an alternator! When I call KIA to explain what happened, the service guy says nothing was wrong with it when it left their service department. Our recommendations, written on the receipt, only described us needing new tires. Needless to say I am not trying to deal with KIA, so we let our friend, the professional auto mechanic, replace our alternator and while he's doing the job, he notices a bunch of screws missing!! Now I've got to call KIA about that. Our friend explained that if everything isn't screwed in place that our car will start rattling and it'll cause even more damage under the hood. Can't wait to hear KIA's excuse as to why they didn't screw everything back in where it's supposed to be screwed in.

On November 7, 2014, my husband and I were driving to the dealership for an oil change and then headed out of town for the weekend. We were about 15 miles from the dealership, on a three-lane interstate in rush hour traffic going 70 mph when the engine killed without any warning. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the road safely. We were unable to start the vehicle yet, all the lights would come on. We called the dealership and they told us to call Roadside Assistance. We had the Sorento towed to the dealership. They said a tech would look at it over the weekend and offered the number to Enterprise Car Rentals.

We rented (and paid for) a vehicle (A 2015 KIA SORENTO with the same amount of miles!) so we could continue on our trip. On November 10, 2014, the dealership called to say the engine had blown, they didn't know why, and had never seen this in a brand new car. My husband had to suggest that they offer a loaner car. As of today, November 17, 2014, I still have the loaner, supposedly the "new" engine has arrived at the dealership yet now they need to order a new starter because that died too after trying to start the vehicle when the engine died (??). He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said "Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said "Then no worries. That will take everything out." Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said "Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? That's the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm."

So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black that's normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that that's part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and it's normal BS...

So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldn't help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldn't even tell me that that's not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.

I've taken it to the useless dealership I purchased it from and of course they can't fix it because the computer isn't throwing a trouble code. It's really frustrating when you purchase a new car and from day one the transmission hangs up and the idiots at the dealership can't fix it for you. I have stopped going to Folger and will go to another dealer for the next service and see if they can repair it. Anyone have a similar issue?

Then had to have solenoid A replaced. 5 sensors replaced because of corrosion. Now when I start to drive, the car is having a violent jerk backward...Very scary!!! So now I am taking it back in to have the mass air flow sensor cleaned. Pray for me that this works because I'm out of money and days I can take off. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I would like to voice out my frustration over Kia's employees (**) unprofessionalism. My Rio Ex Sedan, Manual 2813AP13 had perhaps wheel alignment issues, the original fit Hankook tires were worn out in 25200 km. I contacted Kia Forbach on Wednesday 29th October 2014 (8:58am) and told the person concerned that I'll come over to Forbach around noon for tire inspection. ** was not there but the mechanic advised me to replace all the 4 tires immediately. Within a couple of hours, I had the Rio fitted with 4 Michelin tires. Same day (12:24pm) I requested ** to fix an appointment for me for wheel alignment at Kia Pailles for Monday 3rd November 2014, he said he'll do it.

On Monday 3rd November when I reached Kia Pailles with my toddler and wife, grand was my disappointment, anger and frustration when I was told that no appointment has been booked for my car for wheel alignment. How unprofessional! I took leave from my place of work for wheel alignment, drove all the way from Goodlands to Pailles for nothing. Is it my fault? Do you think I am fond of wasting my time and money for nothing? When I bought my Rio for R725,000/- I was not given even 1 cent of discount. I cannot tolerate unprofessional behaviour; one lady at Pailles kept me waiting for almost 2 hours, she told me that she is trying to help and possibly I'll have to wait till 5 pm for wheel alignment! Am I mad or are you guys mad? Did I come over to Kia Pailles with my 2 year son and wife to have fun/picnic?

And in the midst of all, it is me who is being penalized. I took leave from work, wasted money on fuel for a service which I never received. Who will compensate me? In other countries like USA and UK Kia dealers compensate customers who have been wronged in the name of customer satisfaction. I am not a happy customer and I am waiting to hear from you what you intend to do for me? Kindly don't consider this as a threat, but I am determined to go ahead and inform Kia Worldwide and customer forums about my horrible experience with Kia Mauritius unless I get satisfaction. When I am paying for goods and services I expect the latter to be of acceptable standards. Neither ** nor any personnel of Kia Mauritius came forward and apologized for such humiliating/embarrassing treatment to me!

We will never buy a Kia again. We have a 2011 Sorento and the 100,000 miles or 10 year warranty only applies to the first owner. We bought the car at 1 year old with only about 18,000 miles on it. The second owner warranty is only up to 60,000 miles. The transmission failed a little over that. I started looking and found the Kia Sorento does have a lot of transmission problems. They are fixing some of the 2-wheel drive Sorentos but as of now, not the 4-wheel drive. We took it to the dealer and was told they may do a good faith fix. Of course they came back with a NO. We had no choice but to pay $2400 to fix it. I have also read that people are on their 3rd transmission, so I can see why Kia only guarantees it for 12 months. They know it be break again, so we will sell it very soon. I find this completely unacceptable for a well kept 3 year old vehicle.

My husband and I used a premium Oil Filter (Not Kia), and a few weeks later had a knocking in the engine. I took the car to a shop up the street and was told that since we used an oil filter that was not Kia, the filter caused metal in the engine which now needs to be replaced. I called Kia Consumer affairs and explained the issue. With all the information that was sent to me in 6 years, not one piece stated that you are required to use a Kia Oil Filter. The shop that I originally took the car to had to do some research and stated that there are bulletins out that are only around 2 years old.

While speaking with Consumer Affairs, I was told that the car needed to go to a Kia Dealer to be diagnosed. I then had the car towed to a local dealer which stated the same thing. Now, the kicker, they will not help in fixing the engine because I am over the 100,000-mile mark. On top of that, I am now charged a tow bill and more diagnostic fees on top of what I already paid in which they will not pay for either (since they required the car to be at a dealer for assistance). I call and call and call the Consumer Affairs lady that I have been working with, and she will not return my call until I call the 800 number and tell them I need to speak to someone or I will be going to the local media as well as any social media avenue I can.

The dealer that I purchased the car from will also not honor the "Engine for Life" that I signed unless I can provide all receipts from the last 5 years on any maintenance that I did on the car outside of a dealer (air filter, etc). I have recently been married and the account closed. AND - who keeps their receipts for 5 years on Air Filters?? This is not only poor customer service for a loyal consumer, but the lack of follow through with what you "agreed" to and signed upon purchase not being honored. Other Kia owners that I have spoken with are also not Aware outside of 1 to only use Kia Oil Filters.

I own a Kia and had a vehicle financed through Kia Motors Finance. I had always had various problems with their website or making payments. When I went to work for their finance company I realized why. They are INCOMPETENT!!! Payments are often credited to the wrong accounts, lost, do not go through due to website issues, agent input errors, or computer malfunctions. Then customers are called and harassed about late payments and have to pay late charges and payment fees.

As agents we are told to never let the company look bad or accept blame. I quit in disgust. I was tired of customers being treated so poorly. Accounts would clearly show that customers had made all their payments yet we would be calling them as past due and then managers would tell us there was a glitch in the system and just shrug their shoulders like oops! Yet when customers would say they had made payments that were not reflected we were told there was no way the system could be wrong. Huh?

Customers should also know that agents wrote down and walked out with social security numbers, account numbers, dates of birth, ANYTHING. And these are fed up people making minimum wage. This is a high pressure environment where workers are treated poorly. I could just see someone taking this information to spite the company. Honestly, I think this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.

I called the dealership and told them that my car was running rough and had a hard time starting but no warning lights. They were able to see me the following Monday. According to the diagnostic test nothing was wrong but that the oil was in rough shape. I told them keep looking. After further review they determined that the fuel pump was bad. They replaced it and I picked it up on Wednesday. I only drove about 2 miles and could tell that the car was still not running right. I called the shop when I got home but they were already closed for the day so I called right away Thursday morning.

They got me in right away and called me about 4 hours later letting me know that the Turbo was burnt out and that I needed to show proof of oil changes since I purchased the car (2 1/2 years ago!). I am still fighting this, I can't find all my receipts. I may find myself stuck with a car that only has 38K miles and a payment but not a car that can be driven. What kind of company is Kia? Neither the engine or oil light NEVER came on ---EVER! Yet if I don't find evidence of enough satisfactory oil changes (they say 8) then the warranty is void!! This is crazy --- does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

I just wanted to share my story. We bought a 2014 Kia. Shortly after my purchase I discovered I was charged $2100 extra for a service contract (100000 mile warranty). We put a large sum down on the car and would have only owed around $6000. When I checked my paperwork turned out I owed $8000. The dealer had charged me for an extended warranty that I didn't want. So I had to return in person to Cancel after almost two months - the dealer finally sent Kia finance a check for $2100 dollars. So I called Kia finance and ask them to adjust my payments - didn't owe as much money on the car and they told me they would not redo the payments because I agreed to the original payment. I had never heard of anything so asinine in my whole life. Turns out we had to get the car refinanced to lower the payment. What a bunch of rude jerks. They wanted me to pay the same payment on a lower balance!

Yep, my paperwork from the dealer service center actually says the converter melted. They were unable to explain to me why this may have happened and only stated it was corrected now. Within the first 10 minutes of driving away from the dealership in heavy interstate traffic, I realized that sound was coming from my car. I immediately called the service center back to tell them the car now had engine noise that was not there previously and was told since it was the Friday before Labor Day to bring it back on Tuesday.

Jump to Tuesday and after keeping my car all day, the service center decided that I probably needed an oil change even though it wasn't due. They then tried to tell me the technician recognized an 80% improvement in engine noise after the oil change was completed when there was no change in engine noise. After making yet another appointment with the dealer service center, I am informed that when the catalytic converter melted, debris was probably sucked up into the engine (which has less than 20k miles at this point) and they might be able to fix it or it may have to be replaced. Oh - but come and get my car and don't come back until I can provide them with service records showing that I have had the two required oil changes which were not performed by them. I am scanning and sending information that was requested yesterday today in hopes of..... I don't know what. I don't want to pay five more years on a car that has already been to the dealer going on five times (two by tow).

My wife and I purchased this 2011 Kia Soul PLUS Pre-Owned from a dealership in San Juan Capistrano (Ocean Kia) in July of 2013 and we did not get any additional Warranty except for the 60-day warranty that this car came with. Yesterday, 9/08/2014, my wife was sitting in her car in a parking lot for no more than 20 Minutes, parked, parking brake ON, AC on as well. The vehicle then started to "Shake" like something in the engine was happening. My wife then turned off the vehicle and tried turning the vehicle back on... Nothing happened. The car had power still and the ignition was making the clicking sound of trying to start but to no avail.

My wife let the car rest for about 4 hours before trying to start the car again and this time it started, so she started driving. She made it onto the freeway and started driving home THEN the car lost power to the engine and the steering became difficult and she was able to coast to the emergency lane and called me HYSTERICAL and said her car had shut down! The car would not start for another 5 minutes, turned back on, and she was able to exit the freeway to a Park and Ride type of parking lot... While pulling into the Park and Ride THE CAR STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP THIS TIME AND SHUT OFF AGAIN AND WOULD NOT GET OUT OF PARK AFTER IT DIED. My wife hadn't even made it to a parking spot yet.

THE CAR DIDN'T TURN BACK ON AGAIN AND EVERYTHING, ALL POWER TURNED OFF. STEERING WHEEL STILL LOCKED. I told her about using the Shift lock release and, while the car was still off, putting the car into drive and then back to park and try to start it again and it did. She was able to get the car into a safer spot and left it there. I read about that trick in a forum... But no reason for why or how, haha. We are out of our warranty BUT THIS ISN'T A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE and We don't know what to do. We have regular maintenance done and we take care of the car and I know that These Souls, even the 2014, have had similar issues. I have put up with 5 years of extremely poor customer service and vehicle service with KIA, Northland, Calgary. I have completed numerous surveys outlining my negative experiences and have never heard back once from KIA Canada. This last issue started on May 22, 2014, when I brought my car in for regular maintenance and to get the the defrost fixed as no air was blowing through the defrost vents. When I left I was told they had to order a part. I brought my vehicle back on June 13th. It was in the shop all afternoon. When I picked my car up I was told it was all fixed and right on the invoice it states "retested all good". When I got in my car it was exactly the same, it was not fixed at all.

Shane, the manager, came out and had a look and witnessed that the defrost was not working at all, no air was coming from the defrost! He changed a very dirty filter in the glove compartment. Of course I was very angry that I was told it was fixed and it was not, as the previous year I had the exact same experience but that time I had to bring my car back 3 times before it was fixed. Twice I was told verbally and in writing on the invoice, the problem was fixed when it was not. That is another KIA experience for another time. At this time I was told they would order every part possible to ensure it get fixed as now they are not sure what the problem is. So Shane said they will call when the part the comes in which should be within the next couple of weeks.

I did not hear back from KIA at all. Finally I called KIA on Tuesday, August 26th (almost two months later) and spoke to Shane. He stated he would find out what was happening and call me back later in the day or first thing the next day. No return call, I finally called on Friday August 29th at 5 PM. I had to leave a message as all agents were "busy" so I left a very pointed message that I expected a call back regarding my issue. Their message indicated they were open till 5:30 PM. I did not get a return call from Shane until Monday at which time I was told the part would be in Tuesday or Thursday for sure and he would call me on one of those days to set up a time to come in. NO RETURN CALL YET AGAIN.

I called today Monday, Sept 8 at 4:30 PM and spoke to Shane. And yes I was beyond angry, it is now snowing and cold and I have no defrost in my vehicle. I Do not believe the part was on back order. I do believe they did not order the part. Even if it was on back order not once was I contacted over the summer nor were calls ever returned as promised. I have had to initiate every contact during this whole issue. This does not really surprise me as the last 5 years (for warranty) I have dealt with much of the same and worse. I will never buy another KIA based on the horrible customer service and the apparently incompetent mechanics they employ. After all this time I even question whether or not the maintenance they say they do is actually done.

I took my Soul to Kia due to a screeching noise in the front while braking thinking there may be a stone stuck in the pad. Come to find out the rotors had rusted in the front only to the point that they were pitted. I bought the car a few months prior from an independent dealer and the Kia dealer said that the car must have sat for a while but they were not sure. Thus is just conjecture on their part. They said the rotors were not covered because the warranty does not cover rust.

They recommended that I call Kia corporate and see if they will make an exception. I called and was treated poorly by Robin, a supervisor, but after an exercise in patience she agreed to escalate the issue to the district service manager. It has been 3 working days and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I had to take it back so they could get pictures of the rotors over the weekend.

The funny thing is that rotors on the rear are fine which makes no sense unless poor rotor quality or substandard design with the front brake system. The service department says that the district service manager will likely approve it but it can take another day or two and it will take more time to get the parts in. Meanwhile I am driving a car that the front brakes sound terrible and I feel unsafe driving. Very poor customer service and quality.

When I went to the shop there were no codes that pulled and I had no lights on the dash, no oil light, no check engine, etc. The mechanic actually had to show me where the oil light was, as it is right next to the low fuel light - I would have noticed it. I've spoken to Kia who says there have been no issues with the 2012 Kia Sorento, but I beg to differ. It was snowing when picked car up and cloudy on test drives. Have met with general manager of dealership, sales manager, service manager and others. They are all very polite and listen but ultimately say they can do nothing unless Kia authorizes it and give me lip service. Also have talked with Kia Corp in CA. Everything is fine at night or cloudy days. Must take eyes off road for too long to find speedometer needle. It seems as if it auto dims from a sensor as just backing out of the garage the brightness of the instrument panel dims. I am told there is no sensor. All Kia gives me is a scripted response that "it is working as designed". "Kia can not help you."

The dealership claims the problem is probably due to a reflection. However, I can put a blanket over the steering wheel and surrounding instrument panel and notice very little increase in brightness. The problem is a software issue they refuse to address. They need only change the color of the needle. Several others have filed complaints with NTSB for same issue. I am told the red needle is an electronically generated image and blends into a black background. Also the side window screen rattles and am told there is no adjustment available. Since design features are not covered by warranty, everyone refuses to do anything as "it is working as designed". I plan to approach arbitration and contact an attorney but have small hopes this little guy will beat the big corporation. Ultimately, will need to get rid of the car and take a financial bath to feel safe driving. This was my 2nd Kia and at least third car from this dealership but will be my last Kia and last car from the local Newark, Delaware dealership. The 2012 was a great car, the reason I was comfortable going to the 2014.

Upon research a sub frame recall SC075.a rep. It took over 3 weeks to get approval for the recall repair, then another 10 days to get all of the proper paperwork completed and the car was towed to a local dealership by Kia for the repair. Parts were ordered repair completed about 10 more days. When the recall was finished, we were told the car needed additional repairs we were overcharged by about $350 by the dealership.

Per advice of our family mechanic we arranged to have the car towed by AAA to his garage. I arrived at the dealership to find that the tire and the damage to the body of the car had not been fixed. In addition, the car had been sideswiped! The passenger side door, rear view mirror all damaged. Dealer says it arrived that way blaming the tow truck contracted by Kia did the damage. I don't know if it was the tow truck or our local dealership caused the damage. When our mechanic did the repairs he noticed the dealership never screwed on the bolts that hold in the sub fame. I was told to send pictures to KIA National Services. I sent the requested pictures with no response. Two weeks have passed no response.

I promptly called halleen to set an appointment because I happened to have the day off and received a recall notice. I called to set an appointment and was told that they could not get me into service until next week. I was then told that this is only a problem as the car ages (which is very concerning since I recently switched from Toyota to Kia and I was a loyal Toyota owner for many many many years and this is a concern because I tend to keep cars for 8-9 years and over 100K miles)... I hope I have not made a bad purchase in purchasing a Kia and making the switch... In the past the Halleen Kia departments have been A-1. Before we bought that car we were told don't buy a Kia, they’re terrible but we didn't listen and now we stuck with that piece of junk that's falling apart and brand new. I will never recommend Kia to nobody. I personally will NEVER OWN another. If that car so cheap that a cart scratch the bumper and the passenger side bumper come all loose well it's obvious the car wasn't put together right. So really the cart is not the problem they are and to the company you guys shouldn't lie by saying you have the best warranty 'cause that's a BIG lie. Buyer beware. Think twice before you buy a Kia.

However when you buy a vehicle brand new an individual is not given a copy of the owners manual to read prior to buying the vehicle. In trying to get my blown motor covered by the warranty, I have found out that if you do your own oil changes a person is supposed to keep all of their receipts and put them in the manual. Not all people are of the personality to keep all receipts so this is not an excuse for them to deny the coverage of the warranty. I took the vehicle into the dealership because it had a problem in Feb. and they said it was low on oil at that time and that was the problem. Only a vehicle with 28K miles should not be low on oil when the last oil change happened at 24,830. Now at 33K the engine is blown and KIA is refusing to honor the warranty because they are saying it was a lack of maintenance.

The last deer got confused, started to run back my way so I swerved to miss it. I hit loose gravel but did not know that when I did that it had ripped the oil pan off the motor. It stuck the throttle on and brakes useless. So I had no brakes and the throttle was stuck on. The van struck the embankment head on which was steep because at the top was a railroad track. The same track AMTRAC uses. Anyway after hitting the embank the van proceeded to hit a guide wire which pressed the hood into the motor and left scratches all over the van. It spun the van around, both sides of the van were hit against the pole, wire or embankment or ditch. The van proceed to climb the embankment, no brakes with the throttle stuck. I knew the other was going to be a roll because we were at an angle.

Black smoke was pouring into the van. I am scared of black smoke (I was in a house fire 3 years ago. I was the last one out and suffered 2nd/3rd degree burns. I was life lined to Springfield). I couldn't see my son. I could hear him, he would answer me, but I could not see him. At the top of the tracks I heard him say we are going to roll. I said the airbags will deploy. How wrong was I. Just by chance that last tire was hanging onto the track. There was o2 tanks in the van (because of the fire 3 years ago, I burnt my lungs... I inhaled the flame). My seat belt did not lock. I hit the steering wheel, my breasts are bruised. I have a hernia and can't find an attorney that will go up against them. MY son had to have 12 stitches in his leg. I went to the hospital by ambulance because I couldn't breathe. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. So much for 5 stars. MY SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK. I HATE KIA.

It's now in the shop 2000 miles away from my warranty being out and it needs a new motor. Now I'm being told that Kia will not cover it due to insufficient service records. I have all the records, just some of the oil change receipts, don't have mileage written on them so they won't accept those. However it's ok for us to have receipts from Wal-Mart where we bought oil and filter and changed ourselves, no mileage written on it but that ones ok. They'll accept it. I spoke with someone from Kia before submitting my claim to them and she told me as long as I had some of the records that should be fine. What a joke. I think they need to start honoring their warranties or maybe make your cars right the first time.

My husband was driving to town this past Sat. He lost control of the steering and brakes. We had a mechanic take a look. The crankshaft bolt broke and the pin sheared off. So we have had this Kia for 10 months. Paid almost $13,000 for it. It had 68,000 miles. It has almost 79,000 now. The mechanic said that the pin should have lasted the life of the Kia. So I go to a United States Government web site and am horrified. There are 5 recalls, and 12 suggested service calls for repair of parts that should last the life of the vehicle. Some of the repairs state that this default could cause serious accidents. Then on further investigation I find out there is a civil suit against Kia. There are 1,000s of people experiencing this problem.

The real problem is that the gear behind the harmonic stabilizer was engineered wrong. It's too heavy. So even if you get the crankshaft pin replaced it happens again. The Govt. site is Odi.nhtsa.gov and I also found info at other credited web site and by reading the class action suit, Robinson et al v. Kia Motors Inc et al., case # 13-cv-00006 US District Court, type that into the tool bar. I have tried to contact Kia at 1800-333-4542, 1800-225-3193. I have emailed Greg **, Director of Regional Affairs at ** and Kia USA.

My Kia is not safe to drive. It is alleged that Kia has known about these engineering defects for a long time. It's a lot to digest. I am heartbroken and with no funds to repair this Kia. I pay for a Kia Sorento that is unsafe to drive. When the crankshaft pin broke, it did damage to the belts, harmonic balancer, gear behind harmonic balancer. The cotter pin that sheared off as well, the oil pan seal. Wow, but I feel fortunate that no one was physically hurt. Maybe Consumer Affairs should do an article about this. 1,000s of Consumers are affected. Will it take fatalities for someone to address this?

I have owned 2 Kia Soul's in the past 4 years. The first car had some paint problems in that a lot of chipping was going on and not only around the wheels. There was paint chipping on the sides and at the top of the roof. We don't live on a gravel road nor do we drive on any gravel roads, when I took the car in for this, keeping in mind that this is the 2010 model with 83000 km. The dealership took some pictures and sent them in to Kia for the ok to go ahead and fix the problem. Kia gave them the go ahead and we got our car repainted. The new paint on the car was considerably better, in fact we had no real chipping and as the body guy said it was because there was actually some paint on the car.

We traded this car in for a 2012 Kia Soul and now are facing the same problem. The difference is that I actually installed mud flaps on this car when I got it home and it is worse than the first car, in fact at the back wheel there is no paint at all and the car has surface rust developing on about a 4" area. Showing this to the dealer, they went through the same procedure of taking pictures and submitting them to Kia, this time the verdict was different. They are not going to cover the paint work. They are not going to paint the car. I have called Kia Customer service and awaiting a call back.

I purchased an '09 Borrego in January. About 3 weeks after I got it, it just dies when I was rolling to a stop. I thought, "Maybe I just didn't give it enough gas. Weird, who knows?" Then it happened again in a drive-thru, a few times at a stop light, chugged while I was going uphill and downhill and died while I was driving on I-25. I was nearly plowed by numerous vehicles (More than one person in my family experienced this while driving). So, we took it in. The dealership acted like I was out of my mind. Drove the car for a few hundred miles and called and told me they couldn't "get it to act up". I explained, at length, that nothing happened before it died or after so there was nothing they could do to replicate the problem. They had us pick it up.

My husband drove the Borrego home on back roads as our daughter was following him and she doesn't drive in traffic. They never drove over 45 mph. The next day, I drove to work. Halfway there, the SUV starts shimmying. I drove back roads home. My husband figured it might be me feeling it more because I had been driving another car. SO, we hopped in and started driving. About 15 miles down the road, the Borrego shook too hard to proceed. My son switched vehicles with us and when he was backing the Borrego in - shocker- IT DIED. So, back o the dealer it went.

They said the shaking was from mud on the tire assemblies (I found out in this convo that the mechanic had driven it 'hard over bumpy roads' to see if it was a wiring issue). Again, they acted like I was nuts, but gave me a borrower car. They offered to clean wires to the ECM and give it back, but cannot explain why it dies. I refused to take it back. They had an engineer from Kia out and offered to put a special computer on it so the next time it does it, they can tell why. All that has to happen is for someone to drive the thing and pray they don't get killed the next time it happens. They told me nobody had heard of the problem before, yet I found complaint upon complaint about this happening in Borregos and various other Kia models.

So, then today I get a call from the service manager at the dealership. He asked to drive my car over the weekend (I hesitate to let them drive all over as I had to pay a lot of money for a mileage limited warranty which they are eating away at the mileage of). Little did I know until I got a call from the dealership manager that the service guy was planning to drive the Borrego all the way to Kansas (a state and numerous hundreds of miles away). The manager then informed me that to trade out of the Borrego, I would need several thousand dollars down because of the length of time in this vehicle and the depreciated value!

I have had the POS 5 months! He told me he remembered me having to roll negative equity into the loan on the Borrego - huge joke - I didn't trade anything in on it! I was asked if it had lights flicker before it died, um-NO and I would have said so. Did it happen while braking? Again - NO and I would have said so. Bottom line, Kia has several models that die without warning and nobody seems to know how to fix it. It is dangerous. My husband asked the dealership manager how he'd feel putting his loved ones in this vehicle knowing the car could stop running and someone could be killed? His response was "Of course I wouldn't want to. Why would you even go there and say something like that?" Well, KIA and dealership, we'd ask because we face it every time we get into the defective vehicle you manufactured!

This happened for over 30 miles and they settled with her only because it was on the police cam.

And less than 48 hrs/200 miles later, a loud "clunk" noise occurred at 45 mph, causing the vehicle to "jump", and thereafter was stuck in 4th gear. The dealer replaced a computer module that controls the transmission. Had to drive a loaner for 5 days then got repaired Kia back... Within 24 hrs/60 miles, the same "clunk", again stuck in 4th gear. The service dept guy told me there was nothing for them to look at unless the check engine light was on.. so I continued on to work, driving 45 mph on 4-lane highway for 35 miles :( . The check engine light did eventually come on. Back to the service dept, where they said they needed to "reset" the system with the new module. After another 2 days of driving a loaner, picked up the (repaired) Soul within 36 hrs/70 miles, another "clunk" and stuck in 4th gear. I should mention that the "clunk" feels like the equivalent of driving over a speed bump at 45 mph.. it jars the entire vehicle and causes me to have a startle response..

I believe there MUST be damage occurring. My Soul+ is again back at the dealer, for what the service guy said would likely be several days.. He also said he had no idea why it was malfunctioning. I believe the dealer should replace the car.. It was NOT sound when I bought it.. I don't trust driving it not knowing when it might malfunction again. If I happened to be in heavy traffic when it happens again, I could very well have an accident due to the startling nature of the event. I brought my car in for 15,000 miles maintenance. Alignment way off; told me they couldn't fix it 100%. I asked why and they said something must be bent. I asked them what? They replied they didn't know. Told me I had recall for front right axle. They had to order the part and would recheck wear on tires to see if their incomplete alignment caused any issues. So about a month later I brought it back in and they said wear was fine, replaced right front axle and I had hope that was the reason the alignment couldn't be fixed 100%. They knew I was going on over 2,000 mile trip for son's wedding.

I have no shimmy, although alignment isn't 100%, it still seems to be okay. About 100-150 miles from destination, have EMTs pull up on right side of my car and roll down their window. We roll down ours and they point to my passenger rear tire and then angle their arm. We pull off immediately and sure as heck my passenger rear tire is bent inward at top, around 11 o'clock. I drive 50 mph rest of way, check alignment and I'm not pulling any worse than before. I call Kia Roadside assistance and they come tow my car to local dealership. They didn't look at my car immediately, but had only had it 2 hours and call me and let me know that my front passenger strut is bent (Why didn't the dealership notice this when they replaced the axle on that side, or when they couldn't correct the alignment 100%). If it took this dealership less than 2 hours to find the bent right strut, why didn't they find it? Why didn't they look. Supposedly going to cost me $680 plus tax to fix (Not under warranty... WHY??). I hit nothing, I ran over nothing.

Is this possibly a recall issue, or should be a recall issue and due to strut being bent, it bent my back right tire inward. Supposedly once strut is replaced and car is realigned, my passenger rear tire will straighten out. I'm not stupid. Maybe because I'm female they think I am, but I've worked on cars for over 25 years. I'm betting that my rear passenger tie rod is bent. I even mentioned it at the dealership, in the service department, but they are adamant that it'll be fixed once the strut is replaced and the car is realigned. They have already said that they could tell I didn't run over or hit anything, so why am I paying out of pocket anyway? Isn't it supposed to be under warranty? If the tie rod is bent, isn't that the fault of the dealership that did my original alignment and told me that they thought something might be bent, but didn't look for it? Then again when they replaced the passenger front axle (recall) and didn't notice it and still couldn't get it aligned? Shouldn't they pay for this? I'm frustrated and angry, first for them treating me like I'm stupid because I'm a girl and "girls" don't know anything about cars...

BS, and then when I'm suggesting it'll be more than just the strut, telling me that I'm not qualified (another way to say that I'm a girl and girls don't know anything about cars) to think that..... And they are the experts, yet they didn't even look for what they thought was bent. I mean they literally said we think something is bent and then didn't look for it. What's wrong with that picture? Annoyed, from California and Stuck in Illinois until my car is fixed!!!

After I went to the service center they kept the car for 2 hours and said they cleaned the throttle and did wheel alignment, the car should be fine now. Unfortunately there was no difference. I went to the service station again and they said maybe the old fuel in the car was causing the problem. So I should fill some new fuel and the car should work fine. Even after refuelling the problem was not resolved. I had to go again to the service station. They have kept the car since. It’s the 3rd day today!! Still no news from them. So I went to Kia and traded on 11-2-13 for a 2014 Kia Sorento. Well, things went down hill. 1st week, had to go back and they had to do a 4 wheel alignment. Then the door handle fell apart. Went back, had that put on, then it fell apart again. The back doors had a gap in them were you could put half your hand in them.

Well, after going back every Saturday for 6 weeks, GM had me come in to change car out. But every 2014 Sorento on the lot had same problems. Then I traded for a 2013 Kia Soul. Up till now, no problem till yesterday. When am going down road and a piece of my car comes off and almost hit 2 other cars. So I have had to send this morning at the dealer again. This vehicle has had over 20 major repairs and/or factory recalls in less than 60k miles at over $20,000.00 at retail. The problems are still there and they refused to resolve the issues during the last year of the warranty. I hired a lawyer and was paid for my "inconveniences" along with a promise in writing to repair the issues. I took it to a dealer and the factory Kia Service rep refused to inspect the vehicle. Paul ** is the National service manager and a pathological liar. This vehicle (and many other Kias) were given the lowest rating ever by J.D. Power and associates. In other words, they make very poor vehicles, using the cheapest of materials, and refuse to honor the written warranty.

I am forwarding a substantial file to senior executive managers shortly to ensure that they are aware of the policy practices of staff like Paul, who is orchestrating fraud, with intent. This will also ensure the company cannot claim ignorance of the behavior of a "rogue employee". It is clear this company is committing fraud on a massive scale and is well aware of this. Interestingly, Hyundai behaved in the same fashion, about 15/20 years ago, and were almost bankrupt as a result of consumer backlash. All the execs and directors were eventually fired. It is time for the same to happen to Kia execs. Hyundai owns the majority of Kia shares.

It should be noted that Kia recalled 146,000 vehicles last years for airbags which did not work. My vehicle eventually got a similar recall (not included in the large recall). Kia and its dealers were aware of the airbag issues but refused to act upon it until they were forced to do so. In other words, they are responsible for possible deaths and/or serious injury to many people who trusted this company to behave ethically. They do not. They were aware of the airbag issues years before the recall was forced upon them. We need to start a large program to warn the world of this company's willingness to defraud and to injure without concern. If everyone starts talking on social media about the phony warranty and the inherent problems of all Kias - we will bring them to their knees - where they belong.

Immediately drive back to get into an Auto Zone near the area, never get there....after several noises coming from the engine, it stops and never started again.

Next day went to the Kia dealer and care center. After 4 days and no call, my wife calls and surprise, they said that the engine was damaged beyond repair and the guaranty does not cover due to the services were not provided by them...saying that the reason for the damage was slug on the engine due to low maintenance.

Strange, since do the same maintenance schedule to my Toyota Sienna from 2001 and it has 196,000 miles already and no issues with the motor. We bought our Kia used, (we weren't told it was used at the time we bought it, we noticed it was used after we had bought it and got in it - as we didn't test drive this particular one). In any event, the warranty covered the electrical parts up to 12,000. At about 11,000 miles, I was driving down the highway and was told that break lights weren't working. We had head light issues and just thought it was a the bulbs, but both break lights went out, then pulled into the parking deck and notice no running light and no head lights except for brakes. We had to get towed back to the dealership and they replaced all the bulbs saying they were burned out.

By the time the lights went out again, it was out of warranty. Every month or so, a bulb will go out - a head light, a break light. Then we noticed when you hit the back of the break light, the lights will flicker on and off, so the bulbs weren't actually burned out. Then we began to notice the electrical seats were burned out. And then the lights where the manual transmission gear stick was burned out. Then the license plate lights. And now, for the first time a new electrical issue surfaced in the electric side mirrors, they will no longer work. We noticed many burn marks within the electrical components.

We are certain KIA was aware of the electrical issue when we brought the car in under its warranty period, but they refused to address and simply replaced the bulbs and said sometimes things like this happen. We have been stopped by police for headlights being out, brake lights not working and license plate light out. While I love my KIA Sorento and mechanically it has been a reliable vehicle, the electrical issues have been dismal, costly, and unsafe.

We had the vehicle towed over 50 miles (which Kia roadside assistance said they would not cover, but per the service dept/manager at the dealership all costs related to the breakdown would be covered) to a dealership that would service our vehicle on a Saturday located near our home. We had no choice as my wife and I share this vehicle and don't have any other means to travel to work. Rodeo Kia (the dealership) in Avondale, AZ has been very cooperative all along, and eventually (vehicle was in the shop for 1 week) the entire engine was replaced. But, we have yet to be refunded by the Warranty Administrator for the cost of the tow. Around $200.00. I am seriously disappointed as I have had to continuously contact the dealership to have this completed and I continue to receive answers in regards to blaming the Warranty Administrator. I've been informed not only that the Warranty Administrator was changed, but that the dealership is now speaking with consumer affairs as well. 2010 kia forte - door locks open automatically when stopped. I have had this issue for about a month now. The first time I took it to my kia dealership they said they couldn't re-enact the locks opening on their own and to bring it back when it was doing this. The issue is when I stop, the car is in drive, or reverse, the automatic door locks open...You can't manually or by pushing the button, get them to relock. I feel this is a real safety issue. We took the car back on a morning when the locks had just opened on their own and went straight to the dealerships and spoke again to the service manager, who sat in the car with my husband on dealership property and drove no more than 10 feet, locks opened... They drove a few more feet and they opened again. So the service manager had witnessed the problem himself which he said they needed to have happen to 'verify' what I was telling them. He was supposed to at that time reach out to kia corporate to see if there were any other issues of this type on file or if there were any modules about the locks.

We were told on the day the service mgr. witnessed the problem they didn't have time to fix it that day and to bring it back in a couple of weeks and leave it overnight so they could check it first thing in the am. This brings us to today. They have had my car all day and the tech is saying he can't recreate the problem. I don't know why he has to when the service manager has told him the problem. They hadn't done any checks for shorts or faults. I called kia corporate and spoke to customer care there who did call the dealership to see what they had done as there was no record of the dealership logging a record with corporate as they were supposed to do two weeks ago.

The service manager wasn't in today. They called him at home and he told them what he witnessed. At that point they said they were going to check for shorts. They had my car all day and are still saying they can't recreate the problem. Apparently tomorrow the service manager will be in and he will try to 'recreate' the problem and were told I want this resolved by end of day tomorrow. I told them I want them to reimburse me for the gas they are using up driving around in my car to diagnose a problem their service manager had already seen. I don't see why, upon the service manager's word that there is a problem with the locks, that they don't just replace the door locks. So they have my car for another day, for which I am inconvenience. If they don't fix the problem tomorrow, I will be contacting the COO of Kia Canada and registering my extreme displeasure with this experience. This was my first kia and now it will be my last. The customer service is awful and it appears they just don't want to fix the problem because it's still under warranty.

Upon doing some research on the Internet, this is becoming a Huge concern with 2012-13 Kia Sorentos. This has happened to several people. The dealership had my car for about 3 weeks. Kia did fix it at no cost to me. However, I am very lucky I was not hurt or even dead. This is a problem that needs to be investigated so someone does not get hurt.

I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kia's recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldn't have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear.

I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didn't know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???

I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldn't check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didn't have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. I'm fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldn't check it and didn't check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they don't.

A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! It's getting deeper.

So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift.

From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. I've put over 4,000 miles on the used one. I'm waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. I'm tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

Nothing but harassment and terrible customer service. We purchased the Kia Soul in 2011. We love the car and haven't really had any problems with it at all. Our nightmare comes from Kia Motors Finance. After being laid off of a job we had to survive on my wife's check. She has recently had knee replacement surgery putting her out of work and reducing our income to that of a disability check. Needless to say, it has become a struggle to make ends meet from month to month and our payments have suffered. Kia claims they are willing to "work" with us on the matter but by that they mean constant harassing phone calls demanding money. After finally getting another job, we are able to start working on catching up on our payments. However, we woke this morning to discover our car is gone.

Time and time again I have tried to explain our situation to Kia Motors Finance. Time and time again it seems my words have fallen on deaf ears. The only "work with you" method these people know is the constant barrage of phone calls (several calls a day) asking when we can send payments and even more ridiculous, how much we can send. Even after managing to send a total of $700.00, we continued getting these calls. The associates are rude and unwilling to actually help anyone. They speak to customers with the attitude that we are being a bother to them or they have something better to do than talk to you about your situation.

My intent to send another $550.00 payment has come to a halt with the disappearance of our car. If someone isn't actually willing to work with us and I lose my job because of no transportation, Kia will not see another penny of my money which is of no consequence to them being a multi-million dollar company. My late payments are not going to send these people spiraling into bankruptcy. After this car gets paid off I will never buy another Kia again or recommend it to a friend not because of the quality of the car, which is excellent, but because of the poor quality of customer service at the finance department. They need to re-think their methods of "customer service" or re-train their representatives whose lack of compassion and inability to listen to their customers is a large, oozing stain on their reputation.

Long story short, they want 600 bucks to tear it down so they can find out what happened and go up to bat for me, yeah right! I bought this car thinking I wouldn't have to do something like this. Worst company ever! I will never buy a Kia again!! Car was losing oil so I took it to the dealership twice. The second time the determination was that it needed a new engine because there was sludge in the engine. Kia's corporate office refused to cover this repair because I couldn't produce enough receipts (they have 5 and wanted 7). The last offer was for them to cover half of the expenses for engine replacement, about $3500 for my half. We declined the offer and are seeking legal counsel. This has to be the worst example of customer service I have ever experienced. There has been a lot of finger-pointing and no one wants to take any responsibility.

After reviewing other people's complaints I noticed that that seems to be a common denominator in all of the complaints, that Kia refuses to stand behind their product and guarantee their warranty. What a horrible experience and a terrible company. I think it's about time for a class-action lawsuit. It certainly seems like there are a lot of other people affected like this.

We love the model and its features; however, the car has less than 12,000 miles on it and it's making us question the quality of the electronics installed in the brand. The electronic throttle control has now failed twice on my wife while heading to work. I mean, a total failure in rush hour traffic no less! It is a major safety related issue and KIA needs to man up and get it right. So far, however, Coleman KIA in Ewing, New Jersey has been anything but zealous, accommodating or attentive in this matter. IMO, Their 1st attempt at a fix was a software REBOOT/ UPDATE.

This morning, it happened again (6 days later), again displaying a CEL/MIL and entering limp mode (correlating code P0638, 2nd time) along with 0 throttle response, on the interstate no less! My wife was fortunate enough to be able to coast it into the breakdown lane and restart it, though in limp mode. These incidents have put my family at great risk. I'm not happy about this at all and can only wring my hands as I prepare for the "We cleaned the throttle body again," statement noted on the service ticket. Make no bones, KIA. I will not hesitate to litigate if any harm befalls me or mine because of this. I just hope you got it right this time. If I have to apply for a lemon reimbursement and head for another brand, so be it. Right now though, I just pray you don't kill us all with unreliable electronics/build quality.

When it began to act up again I called dealership and was told that I had brought my car in for a different reason and now that my warranty was up I would be required to pay for any service that I had done. I was asked what kind of light was coming on when the car acts up. I told them that no light comes on. Then I was pretty much told that I was stupid. If my car is doing like I was saying then there had to be a light on.

My car just gets worse and worse. Sometimes it’s going along fine and then the rpm jumps to 5 or 6 and the car acts like its down shifting and doesn’t want to go. Then the rpm will drop below 1. Sometimes when you take off from a stop sign or traffic light it shifts really hard and makes a clunking noise like the transmission is going to fall to the ground. I too like a lot of others, chose the Kia for the great warranty, but when the dealership is always saying there’s nothing wrong that makes the warranty useless. Just because I’m female doesn't mean I’m stupid. And I don't like being treated that way.

The clutch pedal was normal but the gear itself was just stiff. I had to park on the side of the road and called for assistance. When their technical arrived the car was back to normal and he assumed the rubber mat was stuck under the clutch. I then drove off feeling a little embarrassed. Three days down the line driving around turn on my lunch break same thing happened and I parked on the side of the road, switched off the engine and waited a bit. I started the engine and the gears were back to normal.

The following day driving a friend to airport I got stuck on heavy traffic wherein a truck had broken down on N3 to Durban. I tried to get myself a safer spot and parked the car for like 5 minutes and started the engine. Again it was ok. The following day I informed the sales manager at KIA who said I must drive with their technical to see if the car will have that problem. I informed her that the car does that especially when I am driving in traffic. So we drove off with the technician and the car was ok. We returned back and I was asked to bring in the car so they could do a diagnostic check. I brought it back the following day and the result that they told me was that the car did not show any problems on their computer. The implication of that was that they cannot help me if they cannot pick up the problem.

I held a meeting with the owner of the branch and he told me same story. I was angry and confused not knowing what I need to do in this case. So I am currently stuck with a vehicle which is like new because it had 1500km when I bought it, but I am unhappy. I got stuck recently in the morning on my way to work, and every time it happens I have to park on the side and let it cool down I would say.

It is very frustrating and even more frustrating to know that the company says they cannot assist with this problem.

But I have been keeping records nearly since I purchased the car and can show my gas mileage has consistently been less than 20 MPH. I am also having problems with my car doing weird things when shifting from reverse to drive, and again, they are claiming they cannot replicate. Just wanted to vent in regards to the poor quality of my Rio. I bought it used from my local KIA dealership in February, 2012, and financed on a three year contract. On June 18, 2013, I was driving it in town and it just died on me with no warning. A policeman happened to be going by, and he helped me guide it to the side of the road and stayed with me to direct traffic until a tow truck could arrive. This was a dangerous situation and I am grateful that the policeman was there. I had my car towed to a mechanic my family has used locally for 30 years.

The tow truck driver and policeman guessed that it was either a started problem or an alternator; I was shocked when the mechanic called me to report that my engine was gone and I would need to purchase a new one. Specifically, on the mechanics report, it stated that "the car has suffered a catastrophic engine failure...cylinder has dropped a valve and there is damage to another cylinder". There was no possible way I could afford to buy a new engine, but a used one was located, which would have cost me $2700 for parts and installation. Being I still owed payments on the car until February, 2015, I knew I could not pay for the car plus the engine replacement. The mechanic volunteered that he hated to see me invest the money into replacing the engine because the car was just not worth it.

He recommended I sell it for scrap, perhaps getting $400-$500. Unfortunately, being I was still owing payments on the car, the option of selling it was not an option. At this time, my KIA Rio had 97,000 miles on it. My next step was to contact my local KIA dealership and explain what had happened. I thought it was incredible that the engine had completely failed ~ I had kept up on oil changes and normal maintenance, even paying KIA's service department to replace a disintegrated gear shift four months after purchasing the car! Not once had I been notified that the engine had issues. The dealership did not address the engine dying problem, but rather tried to talk me into trading in the dead car and buying a new(er) one.

This would have meant I would have had to add the remaining balance due on my dead car into the amount of my payments on a new(er) car, something I could not possibly afford. KIA did offer to replace my engine with a used one for $2200, $500 less than my mechanic quoted, but by this time I had spoken with friends in the car repair business who agreed that my Rio was not worth fixing. By searching online, I was shocked to read about the same problem other Rio owners had posted. Is this a KIA manufacturing problem?

My family have owned many cars, various makes and models, running into high mileage, and have never had an engine completely fail like this. I cannot help but think this is a poorly made car and I do not understand why a recall was never initiated once it became obvious that many customers were losing engines. It makes me sick when I realize I am still responsible for payments on a car sitting dead in my garage. I honestly feel the engine failed through no fault of mine and I am furious that KIA is allowed to continue ignoring such a major concern of Rio owners.

I had problems with my cars having a rough start which was out of context for this vehicle. I have never had problems in the past and it started up immediately upon turning the ignition. I made the call that it was the battery and decide to take it to the nearest Kia dealership (Pat Peck Kia) because I was new to the area and wanted to establish a relationship.

I made the appointment (0800-24 July 2013) and upon arrival discussed the problem with person at the desk. I told the service advisor that my concern was the battery and she told me it could not be that? I said okay and they took it back to troubleshoot. I sat for 3 hours before she came back to tell me that the mechanic's best choice after evaluation was that the TPS Sensor was bad. I was hesitant to accept this because I had no fuel/engine problems whatsoever but that it was hesitant to start. Again, I said I thought it was the battery going out. She informed me that they would order the part (cost: $362) and that I could wait for it. After another 1 hour she came back to tell me that they had to order the part and that they would call me when it came in. They said the work would take 1 hour.

I received a call that the part came in and made the appointment to get the work done on 30 July @ 7:45 figuring the earlier the better. This time I had to wait for almost 5 hours. She came to tell me that the delay was due to the fact that the battery needs to be recharged. I asked if they should just change the battery and she said no they charged it up. Sorry but at this point I am VERY unhappy and don't really have the warm fuzzy that my car is fixed. I pay the bill, accept my car. The cost was $519 and the service advisor acted like I was getting a deal. I did not feel that way.

The next day (31 July), I get in the car and it is doing the exact same thing. I am thinking that I just spent $519 and nothing has changed. I am scheduled at this time to go to a family luncheon and I did not feel safe that my car will get me there and back. At this point I am away from home, the car is off and when I try it will not start. Dead! I call the dealership and they said to have it towed. I elect to try to call my wife to come help me. I get the car started and take it to the dealership. They say that they will change the battery and that cost me another $50.42. I told them that I had a battery problem from the beginning. Now it brings into question the TPS sensor failure. I have been VERY pleased with my Kia Amante and would not trade it. I am very unhappy with the events that took place, the troubleshooting, repairs, cost and lost time.

2012 I purchased Kia Ceed 29,000 miles from Kia garage with one previous owner. Issues with the gears stiff, failing to engage the garage and web info said this is normal. The problem increased. Car became unsafe to drive. I requested the garage to investigate. The garage has now confirmed the clutch and flywheel (plus) other components have broken. Kia head office has refused to fix the car under the warranty stating wear and tear. The garage is refusing to do the work - cost of repair is 1000. The garage is also stating this kind of failure happens with low mileage. Head office stated poor driving caused the problem. As you can gather I am not impressed with the service provided by Kia, or the car! Has anyone else had a similar issue, or could offer advice?

Purchased a 2014 Kia Sorento in May 2013 and due to a storm it was immediately unable to be driven. This is when I found out that there are no parts in the US to repair the vehicle. They said it is made in the US but all the parts are in Korea...figure that one out. Calls to KIA corporate are not returned. KIA's website will not let you complete their form and submit it as I tried from 3 different computers. If you are considering a Korean vehicle, think again.

2012 Kia Forte - On 6/18/13, I was driving the car and white smoke started coming out of the tailpipe. There were no warning lights or anything. I took it to Kia of Bedford, Cleveland, Ohio and was asked to provide service records because there was sludge in engine and they will not honor warranty. They wanted me to pay $8,000 for a new engine which I will not do. I researched Kia's record and found all over the country complaints of not honoring warranties - Kia of Bedford had 81. When I talked to Kia's Customer Service Manager, Ms. **, she was nasty and unconcerned and offered as goodwill - yeah right - to pay half and I pay half. I will not. I am trading that car in and will not ever, ever purchase a car from Kia.

At 13,300 miles, the manual clutch went out in a 2010 KIA SOUL. KIA won't honor its warranty as the clutch is a "wear and tear" item. I can't imagine any clutch burning out at 13k. My last manual clutch (Jeep) had the factory clutch in it when I traded it in at 89,000 miles with no problems. When I checked online, I found out many people had clutch problems. Many with even less mileage than mine. I also found out that KIA had replaced several of the clutch parts in the following year's models. Apparently, they have realized they have a problem with their clutch. But it still cost me $12,000 to fix it.

I have to do work on my car from time to time. The last car was not safe for my little one to ride in, so I went and bought a brand new car. I thought that buying a NEW car, I would not be getting someone Else's problem! In December, my car started needing a jump, then it ran good for a while and then I heard a clicking that sounded like it was coming from the battery area. It has started blowing out air when the air is turned off. The clicking and blowing air seems to come together. Now I hear this while driving. I am rethinking buying the NEW KIA Rio for the safety of my child. Don't worry now there is a popping noise coming from the wheel area?

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, please help! I'm the first owner but KIA says they are not sure what it is and I'll have to pay. HELP, please from a loving mother to another loving parent, grandparent, or anyone kind enough to help. People are buying these cars for their family, wife, or kids and it looks like they may not be safe for anyone. I think it is safe to say no KIA I have ever seen gets the gas mileage they claim. I paid off my car but do not plan to buy another KIA no matter what! Please stop buying or try to stop them from selling before they kill people with these unsafe cars!!!!!!!

'05 Sorento - I've replaced the crankshaft sensor twice now, and it's not in need of a 3rd sensor. The dealership says it's "out of warranty" since it is 4 months past the 12-month date. I've also replaced the transmission once, the headlights 6 times, the ball joints twice, & I still have vibrations in the rear end from the transmission! I've contacted consumer affairs (which did nothing); they gave me a complaint number and said thanks. I've filed a complaint with BBB, and now I am not sure what to do with this POS car.
