The shipping of the car was our most horrible experience ever with this purchase. We had the time set up for a weekend day, to be told the driver had called off. This caused us to take vacation day for Monday pick up.

The process of buying a vehicle was simple and easy. The overall process is a one-of-a-kind experience. Initially, my vehicle was scheduled to be delivered on Saturday, the 4th, around noon, but unforeseen circumstances caused it to be delivered the next day at 9:45 a.m.

Carvana created an easy way to shop, purchase, trade, and receive our new car. Carvana explained every step, and provided clear instructions to get ready for delivery and trade in. The agent who delivered the car was fast and friendly. We were finished in no time. Carvana even checked in to remind us our 7 day return window was about to close, but we didn’t need it. We are so happy with our new vehicle, and will remember this experience next time we are looking for a new car!

They supposedly did a VA inspection on this vehicle even though the taillights do not work properly. The dealership said they couldn’t fix them until the end of the month. Silverrock said they would have to be fixed by the 10th in order for them to fix it for us. Big hassle to try to get fixed for a luxury vehicle. Terrible ordeal! Never buy from Carvana. This is what I have learned from this. I will only buy from dealerships. This company sucks!!!!

Second car I've bought that if Carvana actually did the checklist that they say they do then the issues would have been caught before the sale. 2017 Tiguan, touch screen radio would not work. This is a known issue. Had to have the radio replaced, cost them over $2,000. 2021 Arteon gave a travel assist unavailable error upon taking delivery of the car. Now it's in the shop getting a steering wheel replacement. Both issues should have been caught upon their supposed inspection they say that they do. Get your shit together Carvana!

Carvana is very good at pointing out the obvious scratches and whatnot. However, they are also very good at leaving out major defects that are not easily found at delivery, in their 360 view and issues section prior to sale. Make sure to remember that your 7 day window starts on the day of your delivery and ends at 8 pm 7 days from that....So if you get delivered on 4/4 at 7 pm....you lose an entire day of that so called window. Not sure how that makes sense. Check all electronics, check all windows and doors, check chips in windows, check every square inch, because that price you pay is not accounting for any of it.

One of the worst experiences ever. Had the car for less than two weeks, multiple issues including oil leaks, tire issues, and more making it undrivable. They tell me to rent a car at my expense. Needs significant repairs proving the 150 points inspection is nonsense. Going to be paying for a car I can not drive, with one payment waived. BFD, these greedy lassie faire bureaucratic mongers of indifference should be ashamed instead of taking my money I am paying and buying another round for the boys who helped provide immeasurable stress.

4th car from Carvana. The process is smooth & convenient. However Disappointed this time. Tire had a big chunk out of it. SilverRock had it replaced however tires were dry rotting per technician. Tires dated 2019. They replaced both back tires but now we have to replace the front 2. Also steering wheel was out of alignment. That was repaired also. Always been completely satisfied before. Carvana just was not at its best with this car. Wasn’t worth taking it back due to not convenient. Will be more particular if we ever purchase again.

The process of getting the car was literally zero effort. However, things like brakes, rotors and tires aren’t mentioned in the description before you purchase. Upon receiving our Santa Fe, significant wear was noticed on all mentioned above. Silver Rock the insurance company fought for “cost effective” rather than customer excellence when offering to repair what was heavily worn out prior to purchase. For example, keeping 1 “good” tire out of the 4 on an AWD vehicle. Pretty disappointing.

The entire process was unexpectedly smooth. I mean smooth like an Amazon purchase. From start to finish, about 2 days from offer to picking up the car. Would have been 1 day but we weren’t available. We got a very fair price for our trade-in ( I checked other websites). Carvana handled everything including title and registration. We opted to pick up the car ourselves since it was close to where we live. The car was ready and waiting for us. The agent was also prepared polite and helpful. We took a quick test drive at her suggestion which was a good idea. The car itself had more features than listed in the website - like massaging seats and a HUD. We were out of there in less than 30 mins inc a 10 min test drive. We had owned the model car before a BMW X5, so we were comfortable buying sight unseen and were not disappointed in how it looked and drove.

Honestly. The idea of buying a car again for the first time in 10 years after an unfortunate accident gave me quite a bit of anxiety. I’ve always heard Carvana was hit or miss, but in my experience, they made it rather painless. I did have to end up talking on the phone one time to verify my income (I’m a gig worker) and I didn’t get the best apr which I was fully aware would happen. They made it easy and my car rocks, so I’d use Carvana again. Check those Carfaxes, though. Make sure the last owner kept maintenance up and you’ll be set up for a good outcome. Also, it was super clean when I got it. The pics are from today a week of driving.

But 10 mins before I was scheduled to pick the car up I got a message from Carvana saying they had rescheduled my pick up. I don't talk on the phone while driving. This is after driving 2 1/2 hours to get there. Found out they lost the key. Took 4 hours of waiting there before their locksmith showed up to make the new keys. The manager didn’t seem too worried about. Then on the way home the engine light came on. Waiting now for the parts to come in so it can be repaired. I will say thank you for the short warranty you give. The lady there, sorry can’t remember her name was very nice. I know it wasn’t her fault. She did what she could.

Purchasing the car was incredibly easy and fast, which I really appreciated. The whole process was smooth, straightforward, and much more convenient than going through a traditional dealership. However, my experience took a hit when the truck was delivered. It arrived in a filthy condition—far from what I expected when receiving a newly purchased vehicle. It was honestly disappointing to be excited about a new truck, only to have to spend time cleaning it myself right after delivery. Presentation matters, especially for something as significant as buying a vehicle. While the buying process was great, the lack of care in preparing the vehicle before delivery left a negative impression.

I had a terrible experience with Carvana and would strongly caution anyone thinking about buying from them. I purchased a 2018 Chevy Suburban on March 16, and the very next day (March 17), the car shut off while I was driving—with my kids in the car. It was a terrifying and dangerous situation. The vehicle had to be towed on March 18 to a Carvana-approved mechanic. From there, things only got worse. Their warranty company, SilverRock, initially refused to approve repairs. Then they changed their mind but only wanted to use non-OEM (cheap, aftermarket) parts instead of proper parts made for the vehicle. Carvana’s only response to all of this was extending the 7-day return window to 14 days. No real accountability, no compensation for the inconvenience, and no concern for the safety risk my family experienced.
After getting the car back, I took it to my own mechanic, who found even more issues—including bad motor mounts and about $2,500 worth of additional repairs needed just to make the car safe. SilverRock approved the claim at first, then reversed their decision, removed items from the repair list, and again pushed for cheaper parts. At that point, I had enough and returned the vehicle. This was an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience. A car shutting off with children inside is completely unacceptable, and the lack of proper support afterward made it even worse. Between the unsafe condition of the vehicle and the way everything was handled, I would not trust Carvana again. Proceed with extreme caution and definitely get any vehicle inspected immediately if you decide to take the risk.

Carvana is not what it used to be, a trustworthy online used-car dealer, where you pay a premium price for “certified” pre-owned cars. As a long-time Carvana fan, I must say I'm very disappointed with my recent experience with them. It felt to me like I’m paying a premium price for nothing. Aside from a large online selection, Carvana is becoming more and more like just a shady used-car dealer in town.
First of all, the car I picked up was listed with Free Shipping, but it turned up I had to pay a delivery fee (~$400), which was not listed in the price and fees. Sounds like a hidden fee? Oh ya, so sure. So I had to pick up the car myself to avoid the extra fee, even though it’s listed as FreeShipping, which was very misleading and a cheap marketing scheme gone wrong.
Secondly, the inspection team did a really bad job on the GR 86 I was supposed to pick up. The car had a few more damages and imperfections, including paint chips, visible repairs, and major damage on the body, which were not listed on the imperfection listing. The deal breaker for me was that there was a badly damaged driver's side skirt with a large crack of about 6 inches long. They didn't even bother to repair it before the delivery. The worst part is, after all that, Carvana still wanna charge me the “Shipping” fee for the car they couldn’t deliver.

Carvana is very helpful until after you buy the vehicle and then they are no help at all and their attitude is. It sucks to be you, even if they’re the one that created the problem. They attempted to register my vehicle and then lost the plate. I had to get a rental vehicle because my temporary expired and then spent hours on the phone with them trying to get it resolved, and ended up having to take care of it myself, even though I had paid them to do it. I had over $1000 in the rental vehicle in my time taking care of this, and they offered me $250 after lying to me and telling me that they couldn’t offer me anything. But again, the sale was made, so they didn’t care.

I received the vehicle I chose on a Monday & the next day I had to take it in to have the oil changed. I called Carvana & was reassured oil change had been done plus their "150 point inspection". They "allowed" me to have the oil change for my piece of mind. On that Thursday, the exclamation point was still showing. I had a feeling something was off, so I had it inspected by a different shop. The car was inspected and I was pulled into the bay so they could show me how the oil pan had been patched together by glue. It was leaking badly so much that they recommended I not drive it because it was low. Plus, the suspension needed fixing and brake pads were "passable" however, they would need replacing soon. At that point, I asked the shop to put together everything they found wrong and file a claim with the insurance (per Carvana's instructions).
Long story short, they were "considering" the repairs while their "7 day guarantee" was almost up so I told them come get the car. Either way they either did not do the 150 point inspection and just put it on the lot as is or they did the inspection "band-aided" the car and sold it as a lemon to some unsuspecting person. By the way, the day after I turned the car back in, it was on their website again (I checked the VIN#).

I spoke with MULTIPLE advocates and was assured that my plates from my old car were being transferred despite getting texts and emails saying my new plate was on the way. Come to find out the temp plate that was given to me isn’t even registered to my car putting me at risk of fraud! I found this out because I started getting tickets in my name from the plate that was registered to my car but placed on another one in an entirely different state!!! Then I get a new plate in the mail and was told that they can only refund the transfer price not the cost of the new plate which is the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard!
Not to mention that during the purchase process we were told we only needed to have the cleared letter from the previous car and that would be good enough until the day of delivery they decided we actually needed to go get the title delaying the process. When it seems to easy plan for a headache!! None of the advocates ever have the same information either. Which is super frustrating! For the first time buying a vehicle on line so far has been a nightmare! I just purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado and it was delivered to me on 3/19/26. Then next day I had a doctor's appointment and when I got on the interstate at 70mph it stated shaking in the steering wheel. So I spent 75.00 of my own money to have the tires balanced and rotated.
They said none of the wheels had any weights on them. Then the next day due to heavy pollen this time of year I was going to wash my windshield off. And the wipers don't work. And you can't talk to anyone at Carvana, all you do is go through there prompts! And if I have to rent a car while my wipers are getting I have to rent a car and began reimbursed $60.00 a dat once I send the rental bill in. For the convenience, I chose to use Carvana even though it meant overpaying for a car - they even charged me $290 to deliver the car 18 miles or 20 minutes to my office! I paid cash so I have no review on their approval process but do have details about the car I received. Carvana lists imperfections so the buyer can see them before being shocked. The listed imperfections do not begin to describe the damage to my new car. The windhsield is chipped, the headlights are hazed over, numerous scratches to the bodywork, the paint has smears, the interior (glass included) is smeared as if it was cleaned with a wet dirty rag, most of the buttons inside like On/Off button, radio controls, steering wheel controls are are worn off, under the hood is filthy...all the detailers did was coat the tires!
The driver's rear tire valve stem is actively leaking air, the change engine oil lamp and replace battery in key fob lights are both on and at highway speeds the car shakes hard enough to rattle the fillings out of your teeth! So I have an appointment tomorrow at a local shop for an oil change, tire repair and diagnosis of violent shake <$400 if I don't need tires or front suspension work. So now I endure time off work, time out of my day on a Thursday just to pay to repair the car I just overpaid for!

I've never used Carvana before, thought I would give it a try and hoped for the best. Initial delivery pickup was good however the car could have been cleaner, didn't look that clean on the outside, had some grease that was hard to get off the paint. But the experience went downhill from there. Car sunroof stopped working and the remote start was not on the keyfob but CLEARLY stated on the website that it had a remote start. So initiated the process to get these items fixed during my 7 day review of the car. Not a problem but a little frustrating at first.
Went to the first Carvana approved "SilverRock" facility, which did not work on Alfa Romeos, as I had pointed out to the Carvana advocate I talked to the day before. But they said I had to follow the process and ended up wasting a couple hours and 25 miles of driving. Then we worked through a waiver to get the car to a dealer the next day... 50 miles away to get fixed, meanwhile Carvana was evaluating the keyfob screwup and ended up telling me that the car was priced as it was and basically all they could do is give me $100 for my troubles???? Has anyone priced a keyfob lately? Of course that doesn't touch the cost of a keyfob, especially for an Alfa Romeo.
All of these back-and-forth discussions, driving car to get repaired, etc.. cost me time off work and stress for something that should have been a fun experience. Bottom line, Carvana said they could not cover the cost of a keyfob replacement AND recognized they should have removed the "Remote Start System" from the option of the car on the website. But they were still not going to fix it.. that's crazy poor customer services..makes no sense. So I'm sending the car back, still have to pick it up from the dealer.. another 100 miles round trip for my wife and I.
I paid a "non-refundable" $1,800 shipping fee for this car, I will obviously argue that back and have been told by several of the Carvana Advocates that I should get it back but with the way their process works.. not so sure. Still not sure how much money this little exercise cost me. BE AWARE. You might be ok if everything works.. but you're screwed if they miss something on their "150 point" inspection or incorrectly characterize the vehicle on the website. January 25 2026 I ordered a car from Carvana, a Toyota Camry and paid cash ($21,000) plus $2,000 for delivery. The car arrived and looked perfect (but smelled strong chemicals). I took it to my Toyota service and paid for an inspection. Underneath the car there was unidentified leaking fluids and extreme rust throughout. I have photos of this. Also, many smaller points in the inspection was rated "poor". The next day--within 24 hours of delivery - the engine light went on--I requested a return with my money back.
Within a few days, Carvana picked up the car. I received a refund after a couple of weeks except for $2,000 for delivery not refunded. This is what is disturbing--about a month ago I went on Carvana site to see if the car was for sale again--there it was--same car and same VIN for the same price. Then today I received an e-mail from Carvana with the same car, same VIN, offering it to me to buy (again?). How can they keep selling lemon cars over and over to unsuspecting buyers? Is this not unscrupulous business practice? Is that how Carvana makes their money through $2,000 "transportation" charges? Please, please buyers stay away unless you want to kiss your money and future transportation goodbye.

I was fully approved for a loan based on the income I listed on last year's taxes, where I had income from disability and gig work. However, during the purchase/verification process, Carvana only accepted my disability award letter as income. They do not "allow" the types of work that people on disability would tend to have, like gig work, to be used for verification. Even though my tax form from social security showed more income than was required to match what I put on the application, Carvana did not accept that either. They ended up trying to change my down payment from $500 to $12,000. I had to cancel the order.

I have had a horrible experience with Carvana. First, they said they would ship my vehicle by a certain date. I received a message saying that the vehicle had to go to a repair shop when the date of delivery happened. Then I had to wait another week for the vehicle to be shipped. That day came, and I received a call. The vehicle was no longer for sale as it would take too much work to fix. Mind you, that's two weeks of playing around.
I found another vehicle. As promised, it showed up on the date of the scheduled delivery. Unfortunately, all the tires were bald and rotted out. If that's your idea of a safety check, it's piss poor. Now the vehicle has to be scheduled for all tires to be replaced. This is going to take another week. My experience was terrible. I would never do it again. They also expect you to be a computer genius. So if you are inexperienced with a computer, much less uploading documents, forget it. The process took forever, and I had to rely on Google to learn how to accomplish their requirements. There was no assistance for uploading or operating anything. Everything has to be done electronically. No fax or regular mail. What a poor experience. Beware.

Will be going without the car for almost a month because garage can't just get the part Silverrock the warranty company has to send the part. Will take garage over 2 weeks to get part. Terrible. Obvious engine problems, did not even drive the car. I drove over 2 hours to the Carvana vending machine, when I arrived I noticed the car was just parked out front. So when I went in I asked the workers about it because the only reason that I made that drive was to do the vending machine. The workers told me the “hydraulics were broken” as I watched them take down 3 other cars. I asked them to take a look at the car before signing anything. They didn’t offer it and seemed irritated I was asking. So with an attitude they went and pulled the car up by the doors. THANK GOD I had the sense to look at it first. The second I walked out those doors I could hear the extremely loud knocking sound coming from the engine (this happens when an engine is blown). I’m not exaggerating when I say it was very loud.
The brakes and calipers were also extremely rusty. The inside and inside weren’t cleaned at all. I told the workers absolutely not. Then they tried convincing me to just keep the car for 7 days then I can return it to get a refund in CREDITS. I told them no and this was a back and forth for a few minutes with them trying to convince me to that. Thankfully I had family with me and my husband who is a mechanic. That car would have broken down probably on my way home. It took about 3 days to get my refund and then I decided to just go directly through the Mazda dealership. I will never buy from Carvana!

If you are a married woman living in Pennsylvania, it is REALLY REALLY hard to get a car from Carvana. First, is their "proof of identity." They apparently want a utility bill in YOUR NAME FIRST, tied to your address. My bills are largely in my husband's name. It took quite a bit of arm twisting, but they finally accepted a sewer bill in my name. We argued because the bill says "INVOICE" and not "Bill." Seriously. Second, they fail to notify Pennsylvania residents that "temporary insurance" is unacceptable. My car got delivered all the way here (2 hours for the driver) only to have my insurance rejected. They wouldn't accept temporary insurance, only a minimum of 30 days with an insurance card. My company doesn't do that. SO my car went back to Carvana until such time that I get a meeting with Erie Insurance to get a full policy with an insurance card for a CAR THAT I DON'T EVEN HAVE.

This has actually been the most pathetic piss poor service of a dealership and process. Absolutely asinine. I purchased the car February 21nd and received it the next day on the 22nd. The person that dropped off my car great. Everything else has been a pathetic nightmare. Upon arrival of the vehicle I took a picture of it at 12:03pm. By 12:12 pm I was receiving an overheating warning.... that's less than 10 minutes it took to receive this warning. With promise that the car would be fixed we pushed my 7 say warranty to yesterday, Friday March 6th. This mechanic IS a mechanic that is in network with carvana. I've been making the phone calls and ensuring communication between carvana, Silverrock and the mechanic. Which has also been a nightmare.
CARVANA PROVIDES NO OTHER COMPENSATION OTHER THAN PUSJING OUT YOUR WARRANTY TRIAL PERIOD. First of all if I return the car YOU'RE STILL GOING TO HAVE TO FIX IT AND THE FACT THAT YOU PROVIDE NO OTHER COMPENSATION OR ACCOMMODATION FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SOLD IS COMPLETELY ASININE. I've been polite, patient, and understanding. I've shared my frustrations with timing and lack of communication and my hesitancy and was promised reassurance within a certain time frame to resolve the issue which has not been met.
Just to by the way be told that I can find a rental and be reimbursed a rental I could only get after the claim was approved which TOOK A WEEK BETWEEN ME HAVING TO CALL THE MECHANIC SILVERROCK AND CARVANA TO ENSURE THESE THINGS WOULD HAPPEN IN A TIMELY MANNER- Something by the way I shouldn't be having to do BECAUSE THE CAR SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SOLD TO ANYONE IN THIS CONDITION IN THE FIRST PLACE. My trial period for the car is irrelevant since I'm given a car a that isn't drivable. Especially since if I don't keep the car YOU WOULD HAVE TO FIX IT ANYWAY.
This should have been an occasion that provided relief, reassurance and stability. I've been without a vehicle for 3 years trying to find a job that can get me back and forth and save for transportation while having to order groceries and other home essentials. Planning day trips to take the bus to try and save on costs to get my essentials while dealing with people that seem to have the hardest time navigating a GPS- having inappropriate drivers who now know where I live or work constantly hitting on me.
Not only did you deny me my peace and safety but to then have the audacity to expect me to be grateful for getting the fixed of something that shouldn't have been sold and clearly didn't go through any type of inspection because if it had you would have know about the issue because it took less than 10 damn minutes to receive the warning. This is actually crazy. And to now be waiting until Monday because the mechanic shop didn't confirm that they had all the parts during delivery again a mechanic that is in network... provided off CARVANAS website... Ridiculous and embarrassing.

We purchased a 2025 vehicle with only 10,000 miles and a clean Carfax — exactly the kind of purchase that should feel straightforward and safe. It wasn't. Our personal mechanic identified an unusual oil leak shortly after delivery. When we contacted Carvana's chat support for guidance, they directed us to the Toyota dealership, assuring us the issue would be covered under warranty. They also granted us an extension on our 7-day return window to accommodate the appointment — which, in hindsight, was the right call for the wrong reasons.
At the dealership, we discovered the vehicle's engine had been fully replaced by the previous owner — a rental company — after a negligent oil change destroyed the original engine. This was never disclosed by Carvana. Because the engine was not original to the vehicle, the manufacturer's warranty was completely voided. Toyota charged us $165 for diagnostics on a problem that Carvana directed us to investigate.
When we asked Carvana to reimburse the diagnostic fee — a direct result of following their own instructions — they refused, citing that we should have used one of their in-network mechanics instead. The same Carvana that told us to go to the dealership. The clean Carfax was not the protection we assumed it would be. A replaced engine is a material fact that should have been disclosed at the point of sale, and wasn't. To anyone considering Carvana: request a dealer-conducted inspection before your return window closes, regardless of mileage or Carfax status. Don't assume a clean report means a clean vehicle. And if Carvana's own support team gives you guidance, get it in writing — because they may not stand behind it.

They list cars with a minimum down payment, then once you start the approval process, and give you the breakdown the “minimum down payment” goes from $2000 to over $10,000 for a vehicle that is $18,000. I would understand wanting a huge down payment from someone with very low credit score or no credit history, but not for people who have good credit. Then they push you to add a co-signer to get the down payment lower.

After a week at repair shop no cause discovered for the light BUT (3) the tires are basically falling apart! There are literal chunks coming out. And Carvana/SilverRock refuses to replace even though Carvana’s 150 pt inspection stated even wear & tear and all good! I'm sure that there is some loophole to make it legal, but things like advertising "7% financing" until I get to the last stages of the transactions, with a credit rating of near 800 then them switching it to a 13%+ rate is unethically to say the least. Then not communicating, when Carvana has known from the beginning of our interactions, where my location is, and only in the very, very last step am I told that you will not come pick up the car that you agreed to buy, after putting me through numerous monkey dance steps to fit into your automated system, and instead telling me that I need to bring the car over 220 miles from my home. I took my car to the local Carvana branch and the trade in and pickup process was much the same. I can tell you that based on how long it took for my car to appear on their site that they do not do any work or checks on the car. The "defects" are not real but are token chips, and seat wear - I guess to make it look real.
I had a couple of "bad" dings that I have claimed, but no idea what to expect. This is done in the 7 day money back period. I had my new car checked out and it's solid and good so I'll be keeping it. 2 wheel rims had been (badly) repaired, but not too worried at this time about replacing them. I purchased a vehicle with 85,000 miles on the odometer. It was a very easy process to pay top dollar for this vehicle because there was no one available to negotiate the price down. I assumed with that high price it would be a thoroughly checked-over vehicle. I looked at the 150-point inspection, they said my vehicle went through to promise me I could have confidence in it being dropped off before I even get to drive it. During the easy process of purchasing this vehicle, I usually don’t buy any of the extra drivetrain coverage, but it wouldn’t let me uncheck the warranty box, so I said to myself, maybe this is standard for all their final sales.
While not happy, I was forced to pay extra money for coverage I didn’t want but to back out of the sale at this point wasn’t reasonable because the kids and I had spent a lot of time agreeing on the pictures of what vehicle we wanted. Besides, I’m buying a vehicle I haven’t even driven so maybe the coverage would save me money a few thousand miles after ownership. Had I known they brought my 20,000 purchase on a flatbed because the transmission was in such bad shape, it would have had trouble making it to my house. Of course, after my first drive, I knew something was wrong and so I started the process of getting it into one of Silver Rock's (Carvana) in-network shops.
I am about to make my first payment and my new vehicle is non-drivable and now in a out of network shop, hopefully getting fixed. I believe had I just backed out and told them to take the vehicle back, they would have taken it in the same condition to the next unaware buyer. After trusting repair promises from Carvana's in network shops, my money-back guarantee ran out. I didn’t get a rental car because they don’t actually provide a rental. You are only getting your money back for the supposedly provided rental if you pay for it out-of-pocket, and afterwards, they may approve it. Luckily, I didn’t trade in my old vehicle, or I would be screwed. Forced to pay for a rental.
I wouldn’t say get a vehicle and drive it a bunch to make sure that Carvana isn’t screwing you over. I would say don’t go to Carvana at all and stick with your local dealerships. At least they have a reputation to uphold at your local dealership instead of somebody you can call in another state that you have to explain what’s going on with your non-drivable vehicle every time you reluctantly call. I want to sue Carvana for the aggravation and frustration of buying a vehicle from them.

So to review I thought I bought my car for 33000 out 20000 down. Balance was 13000. Now they saying I owe 25990. Carvana is a GD joke and rips you off. My vehicle was delivered with multiple mechanical and cosmetic defects that should have been identified during any reasonable inspection process. The condition at drop-off directly contradicted the company’s marketing claims of “quality inspected” and “road-ready.” Within days, it became clear:
• several pre-existing issues were excluded from warranty coverage
• repairs were delayed or denied
• responsibility was repeatedly shifted between the seller and warranty administrators
When a vehicle is represented as thoroughly inspected but arrives with obvious, pre-existing problems — and meaningful remedies are not provided — it begins to look less like inconvenience and more like misrepresentation, failure to disclose known defects, and a breach of implied warranty of merchantability. Consumers deserve transparency, not fine-print protections that leave them holding the bill. Do your due diligence before purchasing.

I'm writing this as a warning to anyone considering Carvana with a trade-in that has negative equity. I purchased a vehicle from Carvana and financed through my own lender (USAA). I traded in a vehicle that was upside down, with the negative equity rolled into the transaction -- which I fully understood and accepted at the time of purchase. However, shortly after delivery, the vehicle exhibited a material mechanical defect that was not disclosed. I immediately notified Carvana and requested a return within their return window, which Carvana agreed to.
Here is where the process completely broke down: Although the vehicle was returned, Carvana had already paid off my prior lender as part of the trade-in. Carvana is now attempting to leave me responsible for approximately $8,000 in unsecured negative equity for a vehicle I no longer own -- despite the return being caused by an undisclosed defect. Front-line representatives repeatedly fell back on "as-is" language, despite Carvana advertising a return policy and limited warranty that clearly contemplate defects. Requests for a full financial unwind and executive-level review were met with resistance and circular arguments, even after escalation.
To be clear: I am not disputing that negative equity existed. I am disputing being left with unsecured debt after a transaction that was rescinded due to a vehicle not as described. Carvana's return process is marketed as simple and consumer-friendly, but that promise does not hold up when a trade-in with negative equity is involved. Customers are not adequately warned that returning a defective vehicle can still leave them with thousands of dollars of debt and no car. I am currently awaiting executive resolution. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend Carvana to anyone trading in a vehicle with an existing loan.

I purchased a 2024 Chevy Silverado from Carvana on January 11th, paying $55,000 for the truck plus an additional $2,000 shipping fee to have it transported from Illinois to California. At delivery, Carvana handed me the keys and explicitly told me they would handle all registration paperwork and that my license plates would arrive within 60 days. Nothing unusual, nothing required from me — or so I was told. Carvana also heavily advertises a 7-day satisfaction guarantee, allowing customers to return the vehicle for a full refund if there are issues.
Here’s where things went wrong. On January 20th — AFTER the 7-day return window had already closed — I received an automated call telling me I had an urgent registration issue. When I logged into my account, I was informed that I now had just THREE DAYS to personally take the truck to a weigh station and obtain a weight certificate so Carvana could complete the registration. This requirement was never disclosed at the point of sale, never disclosed at delivery, and never disclosed during the return window.
To make matters worse: The nearest weigh station is over 2 hours away in Los Angeles. I explained I do not have the time to make a full-day round trip within 3 days. In California, registration is the dealer’s responsibility, not the customer’s. I offered to bring the truck to Carvana so THEY could have an employee weigh it. Their response? They refused, saying they “don’t have enough staff.” So let me get this straight: They charge $2,000 for delivery. They fail to complete required paperwork beforehand. They wait until after the refund window closes. Then they dump the responsibility on the customer. And when challenged, they claim they’re understaffed. This is not just bad service — it’s misleading and negligent.
Had Carvana: Disclosed this requirement upfront, or Included weighing the vehicle as part of their delivery process, or Informed me within the 7-day return period, I could have made an informed decision or returned the truck. Instead, they waited until I was trapped. Carvana has ZERO meaningful service after the sale. Once the car is delivered and the return window closes, you are completely on your own — even for problems caused by their own failures. I strongly recommend thinking twice before buying from Carvana, especially if you’re purchasing an out-of-state vehicle in California. What they promise upfront and what they deliver afterward are two very different things.

Terrible experience with Carvana from start to finish. I rearranged my schedule for delivery and they cancelled last minute 3 separate times. Their “150 Point Safety Inspection” missed a nail in the tire, which took them 10 days to address. I was assured the tire would be replaced, only to find out after the fact it was patched. The delivery person arrived and proceeded to just keep beeping his horn rather than come to the door. Their customer service team, though nice, have zero visibility into what is going on and have zero ability to actually fix problems. Terrible experience.

Bottom Line Up Front, get your Carvana car to a trusted mechanic within the first 7 days so that you can determine if you have an unsafe vehicle. Their 150 point inspection apparently is not concerned with safety. Get claims to their authorized garages within those 7 days. Having it documented within that time frame is NOT enough.
I knew which car I wanted, I had spent a lot of time saving and researching. Finding that specific model and trim was proving difficult. I finally found a couple options at Carmax and Carvana but none on the East Coast. Carvana had a better "delivered price" so I went with it. The purchase and paperwork side of it went smoothly other than a bit of a pain digitizing the records.
Then I find out that no, Carvana does not deliver to your home unless you or in a small selected areas. New England is not in the area. Living in Vermont, the car could only make it to Boston. Fine, it was a very specific car and I was willing to drive to out of state dealerships if I had found one anyway. Slight delay but the day comes to drive my trade-in, the 250 miles, to Boston. I get to the location and meet the associate that will be finishing the paperwork.
The car is as advertised, with the one noticeable cosmetic damage (as advertised). The associate checks out my trade-in and apparently had never driven a manual. As he was checking for warning lights, started the car and lurches it into the decorative stone retaining wall bordering the parking lot. To their credit, I have not heard complaints about the damage to the front end of "their' car. After a look over of the car, under the hood, trunk, and feeling the tread of the tyres (but only the first or second grove), we finish the paperwork and I head off in my new car. As soon as I get home, 250 miles later, I make an appointment with the local dealership to check out the car. They can't see it for another two weeks. The drive home was great, 250 miles to get a feel of the car and it handled great. I was not worried about the 7day grace period offered by Carvana.
Being winter I start lining up snow tyres. As it turns out I get a set lined up for the same day I have my dealership appointment but that is 7 days after our first real snow. I drive the car for 7 days then park it for 7 days given the performance summer tyres and how much they do not like temperatures under 40F. Carpooled for a week.
I finally get the car to the dealer and they call that morning to tell me that the belts were showing on two wheels and just starting on the other two. And we were getting more snow. After leaving the car at the dealer all day, they did not have time to perform the scheduled maintenance or to perform their inspection. I still do not know what other mechanical issues I may have. I will not be buying form Carvana again and I will limit my exposure to the dealer.
SilverRock's response is that tyres are consumables and are not covered, I point out that it is a safety issue to send me 250 miles on bald tyres, if i had reached out within the 7 days there might have been something they could have done. Carvana is also saying that they are consumables and they don't care. Talking to their authorized garage, I hear that the only time they honored the warranty was when the buyer was within the 7 days and told them to fix the brakes or send their truck to come get it. Again, to Vermont. It was cheaper to fix the brakes. Do not trust that they know or care about the state of the vehicle they are selling you.

I purchased a 2011 BMW 335i m sport rear wheel drive convertible with only 72,000 miles. Car was sold to me with all the boxes checked Pass by Carvana. Which is very debatable. The COOLANT was NEVER CHANGED which resulted in a leaking radiator when initially purchased in 100 day window. But mechanic says there were no leaks which is false. I decided to have the coolant drained and radiator Flush with NEW COOLANT by the authorized Carvana repair shop. 3 weeks later the Plastic Charge pipe coming from the intercooler to Intake exploded in 4 pcs. Replaced with a new all aluminum pipe.
1 month later after the 100 day warranty, the plastic RADIATOR on the car literally leaked like a sieve and developed 4 cracks and nearly got me stranded on a highway the vehicle would literally slow to limp home mode. I had the vehicle flat bedded to my home and was told and VERIFIED in addition to the coolant system issues All 4 tires were dry rotted and were 10 yrs old. Finally I decided to sell the car back to CARVANA which for $8,000 after only owning it for 10 months and putting 7k miles on the odometer. He never did and when I finally got to talk to someone via whatever they said, "Sorry. So sorry." Then I paid the car off in August and it is now January with no title. My vehicle delivery was rescheduled twice, once without any notification at all. On the second failed delivery, I finally received a call where customer service told me this “rarely happens” — which was hard to believe given how casually it was handled.
Second excuse: they couldn’t even find a driver.
When I asked whether Carvana has any contingency plans so customers aren’t left stranded without a car, there was no real answer. Instead, I was expected to simply accept being pushed out three additional days, during which I had to remain available in delivery windows and miss work — all without having the car I already paid for.
This experience showed a complete lack of planning, accountability, and respect for customers’ time. Carvana markets itself as easy and stress-free, but in reality, you may end up stuck rearranging your life because they can’t manage basic logistics. On the phone 3 separate times (1hr each time) to get Carvana, SilverRock, and dealership to communicate so I did not have to pay for the repairs the car arrived with. Then come to find out the Jeep wheel lock key isn't the right one. Since I didn't check that within the first 7 days, it is on me to pay to have the locks replaced. However, when I took possession of the car, I was advised by Carvana that I had to use one of their repair shops or pay a $350 deductible.
They were going to waive the hundred-dollar deductible for using the in-network shop, which was Midas repair shop. Not somewhere I would bring a BMW. However, when I went to open the hood, it wouldn't open. There is something called a cowl that was blocking the hood from opening. From looking online this wasn't an uncommon issue and the factory warranty would cover that except that we were past the factory warranty. Enter Carvana warranty. Not covered due to it being a normal wear and tear item. The hood literally won't open but it's not covered under the warranty. Carvana's answer is we have to stick to the terms of our agreement. I submitted my I.D., got the car insurance going, submitted bank statements, and everything was golden. Then they call me an hour and a half later after the down payment was taken from my account and say they can't finance me. That's fine, but the problem is that when I canceled the order they aren't going to give me my refund for 10-15 business days?! Why did they take my money if they hadn't even reviewed my information to see if they'd even be able to finance me? 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid delivery on December 22 was canceled because, “The transportation truck driver unexpectedly called out.” After that, we had a great deal of trouble finding a time when we could both be home for a delivery (purchaser and cosigner must be present). Ultimately, we scheduled it for pickup at Latham and were charged an additional $900 at the time of rescheduling without any explanation as to what that charge was for. I could not proceed with scheduling the pickup without agreeing to the $900, however, so I figured we’d sort it out later.
When we got to Latham, the car had new plates on despite us originally requesting to transfer our plates. We eventually got the license plates sorted out, but we have not received a refund for the difference in price. Driving that day, it was immediately clear that the CRV’s hybrid features were not working (regardless of how long the car was running).
When we turned the CRV on the following day to try to figure it out, it started running through every single warning in the system. Clearly an electrical malfunction. This car should not have been for sale. We ordered a different vehicle, but couldn’t get it delivered before Jan 2 because of the Carvana schedule being full. We then needed to find a day that we could both be present. This left us having to unexpectedly have to rent a vehicle to cover the five days that we would be without one. This, coinciding with the holidays, meant that a five-day rental of a basic economy model sedan cost us yet another $879 (receipt attached)!
So we have now given Carvana a $2,500 down payment, $990 shipping for a car that doesn’t work and needs to be picked up, another $900 for something no one at the Latham Carvana could explain, the unclear amount for the new plates we didn’t want, and now we’re almost $900 in for a rental car because we were sold a vehicle that doesn’t work. That vehicle is now just sitting in my driveway until January 2nd and I’m out an obscene amount of money as I’m driving around in a wildly overpriced Hyundai.
I wanted to communicate with Carvana about this, but they offer AI bots via text, humans on the phone who cannot even begin to deal with this issue, or AI bots via chat. So, hopefully, an actual human will see this and offer to help and remedy Carvana in our minds because right now… They are about the worst of the bunch.

We were also told the vehicle was local- coming from our town, making this explanation even more confusing. By that point, she had already taken time off work.
The delivery was then rescheduled for a week and a half later. Once again, she took time off work. On that day, was contacted and told the delivery team was on the way, but that the vehicle had originally been delayed prior because it required a repair-which means the customer service representative lied. Felt deceptive. But I am forgiving so maybe it was a miscommunication.
But then… the vehicle finally arrived and the technician (he was great and transparent btw) told her there was another major issue with vehicle-leaking fluids which they said they were late cause they were repairing it. So they canceled it on site and went back home. Needless to say it was not properly inspected before delivery or they didn’t even repair it to begin with. **Carvana Review – A Holiday Disaster and a Complete Breakdown in Communication** I rarely write reviews, but my recent experience with Carvana deserves to be shared so others can avoid what I went through. A week before Christmas, I decided to surprise my wife with a 2022 BMW 740i. At the same time, I planned to sell my 2014 Mercedes S550 through Carvana. I was pre‑approved by my bank for $30,000 and had $10,000 cash on hand to complete the purchase. Simple enough — or so I thought.
From the beginning, the process was a disaster. My bank issued a single check for the full $40,000. Carvana refused to accept it because I had originally stated the funds would be split $30,000/$10,000. Even after speaking with a representative — while sitting in my banker’s office — and confirming that the funds and contract were ready to go, they still would not adjust or accept the payment.
Once the contracts were signed and uploaded, I received a call Friday evening congratulating me on my purchase. I assumed everything was finalized. Then Saturday — during the holiday weekend, when I don’t normally check email — I received a message saying the $10,000 (which was sitting in my account) “did not clear.” No phone call. No follow‑up. No attempt to resolve the issue. Just an email.
I was scheduled to pick up my wife’s Christmas gift on Thursday so I could present it to her on Christmas Day. By Wednesday, I logged into my account and discovered: My Mercedes offer had only **one day left**. The BMW I painstakingly worked to purchase was **back in their inventory**. The system now showed a **delivery date of December 27** if I wanted to start over
When I called, I was told:1. They could not attempt to process the funds again
2. I would have to restart the entire purchase process
3. There were **no guarantees** I could get the car by the 24th
4. The delivery fee had increased from **$1,100 to $1,200**
For a company that claims to be “the new way to buy a car,” this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The communication was terrible, the process was rigid and unhelpful, and the service felt bottom‑of‑the‑barrel. I will never use Carvana again, and I’ve already informed the mechanic who recommended them that I cannot in good conscience recommend Carvana to anyone. This experience turned what should have been a joyful Christmas surprise into unnecessary stress and frustration. Buyers beware.

What a terrible experience over the holidays. Carvana falsely advertised the vehicle online that we intended on purchasing. When we showed up to take delivery it quickly became evident that the vehicle needed several repairs that were not disclosed including engine issues. It also needed a new windshield and had open recalls. Again, none of these issues were disclosed until after signing the paperwork. At this point things went downhill fast. Since we refused the delivery Carvana keeps our money for 15 business days. Considering that the next few days are holidays, and the fact that the weekend follows, this means our money will not be returned for 20+ days.
We need the vehicle TODAY to travel over the holidays to see family and to get our children to athletic competitions. The vehicle was supposed to be my wife's Christmas present as well. After spending almost 1.5 hours on the phone with customer service I was forced to contact my bank to reverse the charges. Carvana would not accept any responsibility for the situation and is leaving my family without the financial resources to secure a vehicle for the next 20 days. Putting undue hardships on my family. We are stuck without a car over the holidays and must cancel all our Christmas and New Years plans. We cannot cancel our reservations either and are now out that money as well. Turns out whoever put the crappy tires on it did not bother to tighten the lugnuts properly and the rotation was making them looser. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. They say they do car inspections. BULL. There is no way to do a review on their site. They do NOT answer the phone--and do not call back. I have left 7 messages.
At this point, all I can do is pray nothing else goes wrong. I did have my mechanic go over it with a fine-tooth comb and he said it's in great shape, but the tires didn't pass inspection. I am not that worried about that part, as I always get a set of new tires on all the used cars I buy. The only body issues with the car were the typical sun faded paint on plastic parts (side mirrors & roof spoiler) and small ripple in the rear passenger door (which I failed to notice when I was submitting the vehicle's information on CarVana).
The vehicle's interior shows its age, yet there are no tears, stains or wear causing the condition of the interior to being rated as anything but good. Then another week goes by and they added another 12 days to their estimate transport time. In total, their original 8 day estimate has become a 25 day estimate, placing their delivery significantly after when promised and needed. Their policies also do not allow for any compensation for rentals or other expenses due to their inability to keep a schedule. I recommend avoiding Carvana unless you don't need a car for several months, because they have been not only unable to keep their promises, but apparently the vehicle I ordered is now further away than when I ordered it, at least by time.

Worse car buying experience ever. I purchased a vehicle, and it has been in the repair shop three times for the same issue and within two days after getting it back, the same issues are there again. This is all within a matter of four months. Their "executive" resolution team is a joke and now I am stuck with an expensive yard ornament that they refuse to do nothing about. Do not buy a car from them, they will sell you a lemon and make you keep it, default on your loan and ruin your credit, or file a lawsuit against them.

The process started out smoothly. The trade in process was straightforward and easy, I found the model vehicle I was looking for at a reasonable price. The car arrived two days later and they picked up the trade in. It was a smooth transaction. I had my mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection inside the 7 day window. This uncovered safety issues that would prevent the vehicle from passing my state safety inspection. I called Carvana and they assured me that they will cover the fixes through Silver Rock, their insurance company, but I have to take it to their preferred mechanic.
I made an appointment and took it in and they had the car for three days, argued with the insurance company who would only cover 30% of necessary work. Not enough to pass inspection. I would need to cover another $2,500 in work just to pass. As this wasn’t acceptable I called and they took they agreed to take the car back since I was inside my trial period. They came and picked the car up on a Friday at 5pm.
At this point I was without a vehicle for three days while it was in the shop, they didn’t mail out my trade in check till Monday. It was sent via FedEx, to the wrong address…my address in a completely different state. Now FedEx is holding my check till Carvana calls them to update the address which will take 48 hours. I have been without a vehicle for 8 days, I have a rental car and I’m out my shipping cost. I DO NOT recommend buying a vehicle from them. They don’t inspect the cars and are ok with dropping off cars without brake pads that are unsafe for you and your family.

UPDATED ON 1/7/2026: Need to move to one star. Car just went to ford before warranty was up (100days) 4190 miles, currently 95 days 3600 miles so clearly in their time frame. Dealer said car was in accident and has more damage than we even thought. About 1500 give or take and they are refusing to fix. I guess that’s why they're about bankrupt!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am satisfied with overall process, it’s the hidden damage I’m not happy with. Someone has hooked something under the Hood and pulled it out. Looks like grill was replaced. Didn’t see till took to mechanic. I do not feel that this was done on purpose. Car came from Hertz, so either they did it or Carvana did it. Either way just beware of hidden damage. I don’t think we will use carvana again. Just not good for me!

I have to admit, the purchase process was fast and pain free. I found the vehicle, with the exact options I was looking for and purchased it. I was very happy with my 2020 Ram 1500 Classic when I first received it. Shortly after, I found that the remote start didn't work. They told me to contact the repair contractor for Carvana to find a repair shop near me. As I run a nonprofit for veterans and first responders, I don't have a lot of time, so I still have not gotten it repaired. That is on me.
The real problem came after about a month of driving the truck. It left me stranded and needed a jump to get me back on the road. I figured I left a light on or something, so I took it home an put it on a charger. Then about a week later, it left me stranded again. It is obvious that the battery is bad in the truck. When I went to the Carvana site to file a claim on the 100 day warranty, which I still had 60 days left of, I received this message: "Sorry, you aren't covered for battery issues. Wearable components like tires, brakes or batteries are excluded. Get service at a recommended shop or find one that works for you." How much wear can you put on a vehicle in one month? It is obvious they allow shoddy components to be passed onto the customer and do nothing to make it right. No, I will not be buying a vehicle from Carvana again, nor do I recommend them to anyone else.

First let me commend customer service on being polite and professional while at the same time letting me down. I first attempted to purchase a 2019 Nissan Titan SV pickup and Carvana said, "Before we can deliver your truck we had to make sure that it was safe." Mind you, I'd already sent my down payment and had insurance placed on the vehicle. Asked what is wrong after delays in having it delivered. I canceled the purchase but I gave them another chance to make it right so I chose another vehicle to purchase and it looked better than the first. This truck was another nissan titan but it was a 2018 SL with more options.
After a few more days and another 2000 dollars, total down was 4000 adding 2000 more from first down-payment on the first truck, my vehicle was delivered to my house and arrived in pristine condition. But on the initial drive I noticed the engine fan kept turning on but the motor wasn't hot and the transmission lunched a couple of times. I researched the next day on what shop to take it to within their network of repair facilities. It was Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving so the truck at the shop for the full seven days to return it or not. Carvana granted me an extension which was cool.
Aamco was the shop and they called to tell me that a fan clutch needed repair plus something is wrong with the transmission. I called my case person about it and their team suggested to return after learning it would cost 8600 to fix it. Don't pay any attention to that first 100 days we will fix it crap because they don't really want to. It is Saturday 12/6/25 and I'm at home waiting for them to pick the truck up after having insurance and tags/registration on the vehicle. I do not recommend doing business with them.

Today at the last minute I received another text saying the car will not be delivered and is delayed another week. After arguing to get to someone that can answer questions, I was told the vehicle has mechanical issues and they are trying to fix it, but.... do not worry. They have a limited warranty and seven days to return it. This is NO WAY to do business. I purchased the vehicle on the basis of Carvana's inspection and assuring the car was 100% and ready to go. I bought a car from Carvana about a week ago. Wrote a review but guess they didn’t want to post it. I found. 2016 GMC Acadia on their website. Pics of it look pretty good. Mileages showed 50007 so I took a chance. Car arrived with a few extra scrapes. I’m guessing from loading it cause you could definitely tell they were fresh and even the delivery driver agreed. He took pics. He gave me the key and that was all. Just a key. In the pics it showed a key with a key fob. NO fob. He said that was all there was in the key room.
So he wrote that down after I showed him the pic from their website that there was a key fob included. Then we did the paperwork and he gave me a paper that had a scan code on it if I need any further assistance after he left. Well I did. I went to start the car and looked at the dash and it showed tire psi and so forth so I tapped the button and it came to the odometer reading and it showed 65571. Holy cow. That’s over 15000 more miles than what they had on their website. So I called and the gentleman I spoke to said that this was very unacceptable and had me send him a pic of the odometer and I did. I made this call within an hour after the delivery driver left.
The rep on the phone after about 30 min. Said he had all the info he needed and said he will get back to me after he spoke with his team. Days went by and no call back. So I called them, got another rep and he seen my complaint from the other day and told me it was still under review. Still never got a call back. So I guess they got their money. It went past my 7 days and nobody seem to care. So if you buy a car from Carvana check EVERYTHING over before signing anything. I won’t be buying any other vehicle from them.

Since November 15th, we have attempted to reach Carvana through chat and phone, only to be told we must speak with an escalation advocate. I sent emails on November 16th and 18th regarding these issues, yet the only response has been about the overpayment refund and inconvenience fee. That email is attached. Still no resolution.
Because Carvana has been unresponsive, we scheduled warranty repair. The vehicle was taken to the shop on November 20th, the earliest available appointment. It has not been driven since November 16th due to safety concerns. In the meantime, my son—who purchased this vehicle at 18 after working hard to afford it—has been forced to drive my car, creating a major inconvenience for me and my family.
The warranty company offered only a $45 rental car, unavailable until Friday due to the holiday. As a result, our Thanksgiving plans are canceled because my son needs my vehicle for work. To make matters worse, warranty refuses to repair the rusted sunroof, dismissing it as “cosmetic.” Rust of this magnitude is not cosmetic—it is a defect that was never disclosed in the listing. At this point, it is clear Carvana’s support ends once the sale is complete. That is unacceptable. We need resolution immediately. My son has invested in a vehicle he cannot drive and has not had possession of for nearly a week.

With that said, I did my due diligence and had a new car inspection done, at an independent shop (knew the warranty shop would say "everything's great"). They found a few minor things, but things that have to do with suspension and brakes, and fuel sensor, that should be addressed.
Contacted Carvana, made the appt at the "authorized service center", which said they would do their own inspection. Of course everything is "perfect" no issues at all..there is no phone number to call at Carvana to actually talk to someone, and if you ask for a call back through their system, you never get a call. I was assured through the "chat with an advisor" option, that the repairs would be made. Nope. when I again went to the "live chat with advisor" this time their answer was "you can return it, here's the number". A huge waste of time! So my options are return it, even though i love the car itself, or keep it and invest the money to do the repairs myself. Feels like once you have the car, they don't care anymore. I had already made full payment for the car. I was pissed...nothing I could do except use 7 day return policy. I chose to try and clean the car, changed air filter (was filthy upon purchase), used ozone generator. Still a slight odor remains. Car was surface level clean upon inspection but filthy steering wheel and control knobs (used about 20 clorox wipes to clean off all the grime inside - they all came out filthy brown/dirty after multiple cleanings.
Funny that I also saw a story on Amazon in a review of the ozone generator I bought that a person had the same experience of getting a smoke smelling car FROM CARVANA which caused them to have the same problem...so this is not a one time thing. I feel that Carvana was not upfront about cigarette stench infiltrating car...that's shady and unethical business practice in my opinion.
Luckily following the purchase, the customer service phone number was helpful in recovering my cleaning costs of the car and refunding the excess registration costs they charged me, but I would NOT do a purchase through them ever again due to the dishonest/omitted info of disgusting car odor. I uploaded the pics, documents they needed, then I got an email saying they need more docs, we'll get back to you. Days pass, no word from Carvana... I dont even know WHAT they need, couldve been getting it by now. I got fed up waiting, so I called and spoke to a rep. He said I needed lien payoff letter, which was inches away from my hand this whole time. I uploaded it WHILE WE WERE ON THE PHONE, he got it, and said that should be all they need. 10 mins later, I get another email. 'Thanks for those docs, but we'll need some more. We'll get back to you" again.
Days later, AGAIN, I call Carvana, ready to dump this BS 'deal'. Yet more 'requirements', so I told them I was walking away from the deal... but only after these fools wasted a WEEK of our time. I could've had a deal done for similar $$ at the dealership across the street (blowing up my phone for 3 days to buy it) in ONE day. SUCH a ridiculous waste of time. SAY NO TO CARVANA!!!!

Received my truck, and there is damage that was not listed. On the rear passenger quarter panel there is obvious repairs that were not done properly, sand paper marks and dull paint. I filed a cosmetic claim and was denied. "Hey John, We understand you've raised a cosmetic concern regarding your 2024 Ram 2500 Crew Cab. Type: Cosmetic Exterior. Location: Quarter Panel. After a detailed review of your concern, our review team has concluded that the concern you've noted is not covered for repair due to the imperfection being considered minor and within typical wear and tear."
How is a very obvious shady repair typical wear and tear? I was within return 7 day time but they won’t return my trade in and won’t give me a replacement without paying additional down payment for an exact same model. I gave them all I could afford to get this truck I can’t afford to pay more for a problem they caused by falsely not putting in the damage in the existing listing. I highly recommend going somewhere else to get your car cause there is no integrity in what they promise when you buy from them

Beware of the 7 day return policy. If you trade in your vehicle, then change your mind about the purchase within the 7 days, you will not get the trade in back. You will get a credit to purchase a different vehicle from their inventory. I chose not to complete my purchase because of this issue.

I just purchased a BMW 328i from Carvana and found the car had 8K worth of damage. The warranty side of Carvana, SilverRock did not want to pay, and my car has been in the shop for two weeks. SilverRock has determined that they will pay for most of the damage, but I have to pay around under 3K. I also found the tires were months from being unreliable and paid 1K for a set of new tires. My advice is to take your new car to an authorized dealership day one for a full inspection. If the car is over 50k miles prepare to purchase tires. I would also say that CarFax may say minor accident but that may be more major. The good about Carvana is the warranty and takeback. Understand that you are buying a used car that may have problems.

AVOID CARVANA. My personal experience with carvana: HORRIBLE!! Seriously! You have ZERO SAY, zero options, zero power, zero chance! First time purchasing a vehicle with Carvana and it didn’t take but 469 miles to regret it!! Eight days off the lot and their repair shop, and I get told that the $670 brake job is all mine because they don’t back “wearable items.” That would be fine IF I did the “wearing out!” Thirty day, one thousand mile warranty to assure they didn’t miss anything isn’t worth the ink the used. Bait & switch big time!!
The 150 pt inspection is equally crap. It took THEIR mechanic 10 mins to determine that the brakes were never evaluated and wouldn’t have ever passed an inspection. They refuse to help. They sold me a car in need of brakes and now not even having made a car payment yet, I’m responsible for the repair. Save yourself hours on the phone, talking to people who aren’t there, don’t care, pull the carpet out from underneath you, and act like you don’t exist! Go to a reputable dealer and save yourself a ton of headaches omg! SHAME ON YOU CARVANA!

I bought my Dodge Hornet from Carvana at 6700 miles. Car had multiple problems with check engine light, turns out the dealership told me their cars are like that due to a software update inconveniencing all their customers. Software update code reveals there’s an overheating problem with the car. Turns out it’s just a defect everyone is supposed to accept. They need to make it so people can do it themselves. Also, even though my warranty is still attached, I’m not allowed to get a loaner due to not purchasing the car directly from the dealership, I have two warranties still that are active and wasn’t informed until the 6 month of having the vehicle. When I asked for a loaner they told me it was booked up for months and didn’t let me know I couldn't have access to the service. Customer service is terrible and I’ve been in the customer service industry for 8 years.

I purchased a Chevy Trax through Carvana and the whole thing's been a nightmare. I got the car with a coolant leak. Carvana fixed that after a week in the shop only to find out it had an issue with the catalytic converter. I returned it and order a different one which never came as it also had an issue with the mechanics. I spoke with their executive resolution team about how unhappy I was.
The man, Christopher, told me that I would be able to get another vehicle and offered me the following: $250 of the price, free delivery, waved the fees with going over the mileage of the first vehicle while I waited for a new one, $500 check for the multiple insurance policies I have taken out for these vehicles, $1000 refund on the down payment. I ordered a jeep, which got delayed another week and they offered another $250 check. I have inquired multiple times about the payments being sent out and I’ve been largely ignored. All I’ve gotten was someone will contact me. If anything changes, I’ll update but this whole experience has been very frustrating and I wouldn’t suggest ever purchasing a car from Carvana.

Everything was great, at first. Smooth, easy transaction. They offered the most for my trade. Had a truck I liked. I applied for their financing, just to make sure I had the best rate available. I was pre approved through my bank. Carvana or Bridgecrest offered a better rate. I put in all the needed information. I wanted to transfer my tags, so I uploaded all the required information. They even said they could deliver the truck the next day. The delivery went smoothly, the new truck had a temporary tag so I reminded the associate about wanting to transfer my tag. He took photos of my registration and tag using his tablet. A couple days went by and wanted to check on the registration. I spoke with a "registration specialist, he had me upload my registration and a picture of my tag, again. I was assured everything was fine and would be done.
A few more days went by and I noticed a little squeak from my serpentine belt. I also noticed there was no oil change sticker on the windshield letting me know exactly the last time it was changed. I chatted with Carvana and was told it was done, but they didn't know exactly when. I decided to take it to a trusted auto shop I gave used for years. I wanted the transmission fluid changed, I doubted that was done. Better safe than sorry. They informed me my belt was bad due to a leaking water pump. Showed me exactly where it was leaking and also told me I would need to replace the water pump. This unfortunately was after the 7 day return time. I called Carvana and the truck was still covered under the 100 day warranty you get for free. However there was a deductible. The nice, clean reputable auto shop I use was considered out of network. They could do the repair, but my deductible would be $350.
If I took to a in network repair shop it would only $100. The places that qualified were definitely not the best repair shops, and were not really close by. I told them that the water pump leaking is definitely something that should have been repaired before offering for sale. They didn't care. So I decided to use the place i trusted and pay the higher deductible. It was fixed by the next day. Sounded better, drove better. Two days later I was informed my registration was complete and my new tags would be mailed to me in about 10 days. I contacted them asking why my tags were not transferred. They said transferral of tags was not marked on this deal. SERIOUSLY!?
Since it was completed and the limited power of attorney could only be used once for this purchase, there was nothing they could do. I was offered $100 for the inconvenience. The amount saved just by transferring was a lot more than that. I asked for a supervisor. I was told one would call me back in 30 minutes. They were very apologetic but Said the same as the first agent did. The supervisor did offer me $50 more dollars for the inconvenience. A total of $150 for their mistake and now I would gave to make a trip to the dreadful DMV. So, like I said everything was great, at first. They just wait and hope you run out of time, so you're unable to return the vehicle or anything else. Before you buy from them think of every possible vas outcome and do your best to cover your ass.

Initial experience was not bad. Got the car when it was scheduled. However, it broke within the first two weeks - a serious issue. It was a crankshaft which needed to be replaced. I was on a two lane highway jerking to the exit for a mile and a half. Very dangerous. I had to pay the higher deductible because I didn't want a tire store replacing such a critical part. I have had repeated problems over the past year of ownership, running to almost 3,000.00 dollars on a 10,000.00 basic car.
Now, it is not drive-able (needs a clutch and a flywheel) which runs to another 3,000.00+. I reached out to them to try to allow them to make good by buying it back at a mutually agreed upon price and what I got was no help and also you are not able to email or mail any complaints. Only chat or text. So, I am not even able to be sure I spoke to an actual person. This company only works if you are lucky enough to get a good car. I assure you any kind of inspection on their part would have noted the issue with the crankshaft as well as the brakes which needed replacing within a couple of months. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Carvana. While finding a car on Carvana's website was simple, as advertised, the process quickly deteriorated thereafter. I completed the entire process for my desired vehicle, including trade-in information and financing. The first issue arose when Carvana requested a lien release, despite the fact that no lien existed on my vehicle. In Minnesota, a title is not provided to the owner if there is an active lien. Despite this, I complied and obtained a lien release, which delayed my delivery by several days.
After re-submitting the necessary documents, my purchase was approved, and the vehicle was shipped. However, just hours before the scheduled delivery, I was informed of another unspecified delay, extending the wait by an additional week. When I contacted Carvana, representatives were unhelpful and unwilling to resolve the issue. My request for a refund of the shipping fee, given these delays, was denied repeatedly. Do not pay for any shipping because they do not follow through and when you want it back you will be denied.
Feeling completely frustrated and unheard, I inquired about an identical vehicle that could be delivered sooner, as I was not willing to forfeit the non-refundable $900+ shipping fee. As a single working mother, this amount is significant. Exhausted by the process, and with Carvana having already processed my shipping payment and run my credit, I ultimately settled for a vehicle similar to my original choice, which was scheduled for delivery the following Tuesday.
However, once again, Carvana raised an issue with my title and lien release, stating it was no longer approved for the second vehicle. Yes, that's correct they denied it after it was approved for my previous vehicle. This was communicated to me on a Friday afternoon, knowing my bank would not reopen until Monday. Despite my protests that the documentation had already been approved, Carvana insisted on a new lien release, specifically requiring it on bank letterhead. My bank's response was that the document they gave me was all that was needed and already notarized. This unnecessary request cost me an additional $20.00 and further delayed the process.
Furthermore, when I selected the second vehicle online, the delivery date was stated as Tuesday. This proved to be misleading, as "delivery Tuesday" only refers to the shipping date, with actual customer delivery occurring one to two days later. This lack of transparency and false advertising is unacceptable. I also selected delivery time to be 8am-11am and can you guess what time they showed up? 10:55 am.
My experience with Carvana has been one of disrespect, misinformation, and a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. I strongly advise potential buyers to consider a local dealership where customers are treated with the respect they deserve. Please use my story as a cautionary tale and do not go with a company that has no respect for its customers. Beware of consistent false advertising with Carvana. This is a company that has no business being in this industry or any industry where customers would be involved. This is my first review I've ever posted online and I was very uncomfortable doing this but I don't want anyone to go through what I experienced. It's not worth it, please use extreme caution when looking to buy a vehicle through Carvana.

Buying a car from Carvana has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend. Carvana has failed to provide New Jersey State Registration and Tags as indicated in the contract prior to the temporary registration and tags expiring. This is a breach of contract and a violation of DMV law, though no one there seems to care.
They had me sign 3 different papers because they told me it was the wrong paperwork for my State. They have repeatedly for over 2 and a half months, told me it was now fixed and submitted. They told me repeatedly for over 2 and a half months that they would be able to extend the temporary tags and registration. I was then told several days before the registration and tags expired that they misinformed me. I have spoken with over 20 different employees on over 20 phone calls. I have been told that the registration is now submitted to the NJ DMV however, they are also telling me there is no way to have proof of confirmation sent to me.
I asked for an electronic submission confirmation or certified mail tracking number and they pretend to be confused and tell me they aren't able to speak to anyone in the Registration Department. They sent me "confirmation" of my registration submission which was nothing more than a screenshot of an IM chat that did not include my name, vehicle, or VIN number. The date on the screenshot appears to be altered as it is a different color, size, and font. They keep telling me I am wrong and that there wouldn't be a tracking number or confirmation that the registration was actually submitted this time. They offered me $515.00 for transportation costs for a possible 19-day at least gap in registration and tags.
As I explained, I am a federal employee who is working without pay and that amount is not enough for possibly 19 or more days without my vehicle. I have asked to speak to supervisors, but they have told me the Executive Resolution team is the highest level and no one is the supervisor, nor do they have a supervisor, nor do they have to ability to contact anyone in registration other than submitting a ticket. It is nothing but runaround and telling me they will have someone call me back.

• Second vehicle: I purchased another car more than a week in advance and even paid shipping fees. The day before delivery, I was informed it had been sold to someone else! I was then told I wouldn’t receive my refund for 7–10 business days—and not until after I purchased yet another vehicle and completed the 7-day trial period. Completely unacceptable.
• Third vehicle: I finally tried again, only to be told on the delivery day that it had to be rescheduled a week later because they were short-staffed. I had to drive to pick up the vehicle myself. When I got there, it had far more imperfections than advertised, and there was no paperwork ready for me at all. Had the vehicle inspected for MY PEACE OF MIND and a tire needed to be replaced at MY COST while I am still under the 7 day warranty through Carvana. Multiple nails found in the inner rim area! Even in-network it is nearly impossible to get repairs made in a timely and convenient manner. Fraudulent Misrepresentation and Bait-and-Switch. I received a written offer from Carvana to purchase my vehicle for $17,000. Prior to my scheduled appointment, I informed Carvana that one of the two listed owners on the vehicle title could not be present. I was explicitly instructed by Carvana representatives to obtain a new title listing only my name in order to complete the sale. Acting in good faith and following their instructions, I obtained a new title solely in my name and attended the confirmed appointment.
When I arrived, the Carvana representative refused to proceed with the purchase, claiming they could not accept the title in that form, and canceled the appointment. Shortly afterward, I was contacted by Jerry, a Carvana agent, who informed me that my original $17,000 offer had “expired” and that the new offer would be $13,500—a $3,500 reduction in less than three weeks. I have screenshots and documentation of both offers and written confirmation of the title change instructions.
Carvana’s conduct demonstrates a clear bait-and-switch and constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation, as I was induced to change the title under their direction, only for them to cancel the appointment and reduce the offer without justification. Their actions caused direct financial loss, prevented other resale opportunities, and resulted in liquidated damages I have suffered due to their negligent and deceptive business practices. I am requesting a formal investigation and compensation for the losses caused by Carvana’s fraudulent and deceptive conduct.

When I picked up the vehicle, aside from waiting for 3 hours waiting for them to remove window tint (they did not mention this would happen), there were dozens of cosmetic issues with the vehicle that were not mentioned in the listing. Approximately 20 scrapes on every panel, a chip in the windshield, a dime-sized chip in the paint. They also included a different EV charger than the one in the photos, which doesn't even fit the vehicle. They say my options are to return and be responsible for the shipping fee, or submit and "maybe" they'll pay for the fix of 3 of these. Since windshield damage is considered normal wear and tear, this will not be included (even though the damage wasn't listed in the photos).

I wouldn't give them even one star but what do you do. They got my hopes up high, then on the day they came to pick it up, it was declined because they said it didn't match the answers I gave them. All they had to do was ask for photos and I would have sent them and this whole fiasco could have been prevented. I will never deal with them ever again. It would have saved me the embarrassment and them the time wasted for showing up if all they had done was ask for photos. So I'm going to keep my car. It just needs a new tire. According to their diagnostic it didn't show any bad codes and everything checked out great, but does that apply to only the codes they are hunting for?

THIS was the WORST experience buying a car…they delivered the car with a BOLT in the tire…had to immediately get it fixed…while at the mechanic, he said you’re the 7th person who came in from Carvana this week... was thinking to myself, they missed a bolt in the tire, what else are they overlooking!?. Then they delayed my replacement car THREE times... THREE WEEKS….literally texting me an HOUR before the delivery…when I had made arrangements with my schedule.. HORRIBLE CORRUPT COMPANY…. not to mention the nauseating air fresheners they leave in the car.. NO THANKS.

I have had the worst experience with Carvana. Do not ever buy from them. I got a car back in March and it is now October. I have yet to be able to register the vehicle because of how many car repairs I have had to do on the car since getting it and now I can’t get the car registered because they messed up on the paperwork. When I first got the car, they had to do repairs and it took them three weeks and I had to pay for my own car rentals. They gave me one stupid gas card and that was it. They have caused so much inconvenience in my life this year that it is literally affected my life in every form.

To make it short, car was purchased 7/10. Almost 3 months now with temp about to expire, still no permanent plates/registration. The runaround I have been given is disgusting. Promised callbacks that never happened. "Escalations" that lead to nothing. Purchase was smooth until this. Guess money was received so why should carvana care any longer. Now left to just "trust the process" as I'm about to have a car sitting that I cannot drive due to expiration & no confirmation of when registration will arrive. Abolsolute worst customer service & follow up & will never purchase from them again. Dealing with piranha like salespeople in a showroom just might have been more pleasant.

(selling car) Two stars because my initial online process went well. New guy at drop off didn't know how to use the code reader so they wouldn't take it. Drove the hour back home. Husband's code reader had no problem. 😡
