About Vista Energy Marketing Reviews
Vista Energy is a gas supplier that offers both residential and commercial utility services in select states across the nation. The company offers its services for a predictable monthly rate, rather than a traditional fluctuating rate. It’s free both to sign up for and to cancel a Vista Energy account.
Pros & Cons
Pros

- No enrollment or cancellation fees
- Can cancel anytime
Cons

Read full reviewWhat is Vista Energy?
Vista Energy is a third-party company authorized by government-regulated utility companies like PG&E to sell and distribute electricity and natural gas directly to customers. If you’re in a residential area in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania or Wyoming, you can have Vista Energy purchase your natural gas or electricity for you and distribute it to your local utility company’s pipeline network.
Vista Energy also provides commercial services in these nine states and in Arizona, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.
How does Vista Energy work?
Vista Energy is considered a Core Transparent Agent, meaning it’s a deregulated energy provider that (ideally) lets you save money on your utility costs while still receiving service from your local regulated utility company. When you choose to enroll with a CTA such as Vista Energy, you pay the price established by the CTA rather than market price.
Vista Energy rates
Vista Energy’s rate plans vary by service area. While many find Vista Energy’s base rate comparable to local utility company rates, you may incur some unexpected costs like administrative fees. It’s important to read Vista Energy’s contracts carefully and review the welcome letter, which specifies administrative or miscellaneous charges. Contact customer service to address any questions.
Vista Energy FAQ
Is Vista part of PG&E, NICOR, Black Hills Energy, or other regulated utility suppliers?
Vista Energy isn’t affiliated with any other company. However, it has completed the certification process for all regulated energy companies and corporations and has been approved to participate in their programs as a third-party supplier of natural gas. Vista Energy’s standards of conduct and marketing practices are regulated by the states’ public utilities commissions.
Where is Vista available?
Vista Energy is available in certain residential ZIP codes throughout California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. Its commercial services are offered in these nine states and in Arizona, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington. As of February 2020, Vista Energy began one- and two-year natural gas plans for agricultural customers in Nebraska.
Where is Vista located?
Vista’s corporate office is located in Houston, Texas.
Who owns Vista?
Vista Energy is properly known as Vista Energy Marketing, LP, and it operates as its own institution.
Is Vista Energy worth it?
Vista Energy is sometimes more affordable than regulated utility companies, depending on the fluctuating market rate, and it offers the predictability of a fixed rate for the duration of enrollment. If you live in its service area, are budget conscious and follow the market price of natural gas — and therefore can be vigilant in avoiding additional fees — you might want to consider Vista Energy as an alternative gas supplier.

I called a few weeks ago about switching back to Vista from another Company which was unsatisfactory. Kathy gave me the information I needed, and that it would take a few weeks for the other company to complete my cancellation. So I called back today and Cathy very quickly switched me back to VISTA energy just as she had said. It only took a few minutes! And I appreciate that I didn’t have to wait on the phone in a long queue…

Thank you for the good rating.

I spoke with Kathy when I called about my Vista Energy bill. She was absolutely outstanding when it came to her customer service skills. I originally called to cancel my service with Vista when I found out I was paying an extra $29.00 admin charge. Kathy offered me a new service plan that not only gave me a cheaper rate but removed the $29.00 admin charge! As a single father on Social Security that really helped my family A LOT!!!
Kathy is an excellent employee and I hope you all take the time to share this review with her. She deserves a raise and I’m not saying this because of the money she helped me save. She deserves a raise because she listened to me when I shared with her some of the problems I’ve went through in life and that meant A LOT to me. Not many customer service agents are compassionate yet Kathy was extremely compassionate and kind during our conversation and that is priceless! PLEASE let her know this. Peace and Grace, Johnathan **

I normally don't bother with searching for a choice gas provider but decided this year I would check around since we are on a tight budget. My hubby suffered a brain injury a couple months ago & we are just starting to get caught back up. Vista was awesome about explaining everything & walking me through how to price match to get the best price for me. It only took 24 hours to get a better rate locked in & made my decision super easy.

The representative that I had today I believe his name was Omar. He was very knowledgeable, provided clear precise information. He was very personable and patient. His description of different plans was just what I needed and help me to make a decision. He provided the customer service that all businesses should provide. If it were available I’d give him a 100% rating for excellence. Such a pleasure to work with him. I would recommend that anyone should receive their services from him.

A door-to-door salesperson signed me up for the service saying it would lower the energy bill. However, when I reviewed the contract and my current bill I realized that was not accurate. I called the next day to cancel service, and the customer service agent on the phone was very helpful during that process. I appreciated the help they provided when I chose not to use the service.

Customer service helped me understand the requirements for obtaining one and how to activate it. Very helpful. I had received, in the mail a 6-digit activation code. But the website requested a 16 digit code. I was advised to wait for the 3-month period before I get the card. This is why I gave a 5-star review.

Just happy to give comment that finally the representative I spoke with today found out where the problem is as to why my application won't go through. I've called a couple times before but it's just now that the issue was resolved thanks to representative named Tiellie.

Initially wanted to leave a bad review due to the door-to-door sales rep misrepresenting the company and lying that she's from PG&E. I was tricked in to the product and decided to cancel the next day after digging around for information. Called customer service line the next day and spoke with Chris. Had no issue cancelling and only took minutes. He didn't push for me to keep the product or explore alternatives and simply went along with what I wanted. Bad experience with the company sales practices but I think at least their customer service is top tier. Will leave another review later after keeping an eye on my bill to make sure no tomfoolery is happening.

Thank you for the rating.

Due to our personal situation, we have decided it is best to not have any disruptions at this time in switching service from our local provider…PG&E Northern California to a third party vendor. We spoke with Kathy who was absolutely fantastic and is extremely pleasant to talk to. A real joy!
