Reliant Energy was suggested to me but when I googled it, Just Energy popped up, so I called and ended up with them instead. They were very nice and helpful, and it worked out. This was a whole new experience for me. But we've got electric now and they're working.

I called PPL to set up the electricity and they offered me Just Energy. The customer service in Just Energy is A1. They were very polite and respectful. I had a lot of questions since it was my first time paying the electric bill in my name and they walked me through it. They were very patient and understanding, which was very good. I signed up for a package deal and I was told the electric system would cost the same set price every month. I don't know if it's true or not yet until my first bill comes and I don't know if I misunderstood when choosing the options. Still, so far so good.

I got a better rate w/ Just Energy but I’m still waiting for my first bill to see and compare it with my old PPL bill. Everything is electric in my house so with PPL my bill would be skyrocketing at the end. Somebody at PPL told me Just Energy was a good deal and what I can get out of it. It was pretty good for me and will save me a lot of money.

We were consumers with Green Mountain for a very long time and they had us at 11¢ per kilowatt so we looked for better rates on the internet and Just Energy offered us 9¢. However, our experience started out with some issues because they had us under commercial meters so I was dismayed because I was overcharged for the first 2-3 months. I called their reps and they were helpful but the end result was the same. They told me that it would be changed but it didn’t. And then, another month goes around and it was still under commercial. Then finally, the fourth person I spoke to switched me but cancelled my other plan. I got bills for $2,000 here at my house and the cabin was billed for $400, and the other one for $400, and we never went up our electricity that much.
The person I was on the phone with wasn’t too helpful. But then they switched me to the commercial department and the lady whom I spoke to was very clear as to what was going on. It was changed but it wasn’t noted properly, and that’s why I had that really high bills. So, she corrected the problem to get away with those exorbitant charges they were charging me because I really didn’t cancel my contract. They fixed it up but I’ve yet to see on the next bill if everything is correct now and hopefully, we see savings. Other than that, everything is good.

My bill from Just Energy was $35, but the whole bill came out as $165 because there was PP&L. Just Energy said it's $80 a month and everything unlimited but I got a bill of $165, so I wasn't sure. I didn't know what else the other charges were because the total distribution charges was $55.98 from PP&L, then $59 for total generation and transmission charges. I don't know if they doubled it or it's because PP&L charges other things with them. But overall their team has been good and I'd recommend them.

I had a great experience with Just Energy. They had the lowest cents per kilowatt compared to the other energy companies. The man I talked to was very nice and very polite. He was personable, very knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was that you can't get an estimate of how much your bill would be. It would be nice to have that kind of estimate. I'm really happy with the energy company overall. I was very pleased with its low monthly bill. I even transferred it over to our rent home.

A guy from Just Energy came to my apartment and explained what the program was about and set it up. Everybody is cordial and polite. And I love that they saved me money on my energy. Just Energy was talking about how they spread the payment out evenly so you have a consistent electric bill. This drew me closer to the program. With the previous electric company I had, I do not know exactly how much I would be paying for electric considering that everything in the apartment is electric.

The Just Energy sales rep walked up to the door, and I ended up going with them because of what she said to me and the savings. Setting it up was okay, but a little lengthy over the phone. The one part I didn't like was she had me go get my phone, then call in and go through everything over the phone with a guy that read a million things to me really fast. I stopped him and asked a couple of questions, then he went into explaining it to me like he had to say everything the second time. Then he had that little tone in his voice like, "You know, lady. What part didn't you get?"
Then I asked the sales rep outside my door if there are no hidden fees as that's just what I wanted to know. She was perfectly well with her details. However, she was really fast, and it was a lot to grasp at first. Luckily, I could keep up with what she was saying. Additionally, she told me she was sending me this email where I was going to get these 5,000 points that I would redeem for a Visa card, but I haven't gotten that yet. They also told me they're going to ship me out some free light bulbs, but I haven't gotten that yet as well. Nonetheless, it was a satisfactory experience and I'd recommend them.

A person came to my door claiming to be a representative of PG&E (local gas company) and he was signing people up for an energy discount with PG&E. None of this was true in fact they ended up costing me $30.00 a month more and was a headache to cancel. When I caught-on that they were actually costing me more money and that they totally misrepresented (they are not with PG&E) what they are, I cancelled. While they so kindly waived the $75.00 cancellation fee they told me my service could not be stopped for two more billing cycles so really a $60.00 cancellation fee. Scammers til the end! My recommendation DON'T DO IT!!!

I typed in PPL customer service number on my smartphone and when I hit the number, it took me right to a guy. He stayed on the phone with me till he got in touch with PPL. They were going back and forth about what deals they could offer me, and I ended up going with Just Energy. They offered an unlimited usage for $70-$90 a month and I thought that would be the best right now for our family's budget so I decided to go with them. We've always used PPL but Just Energy's offer sounded better than theirs. I started service November 1st.
Their rep was very helpful and very descriptive. He asked me a lot of questions of how he can best help my family. I told him we were evacuated out of our old home with the CO2 and gas leak, and we almost lost our lives. We lost a lot of our stuff and he took that into consideration. He spent a long time on the phone with me, almost a 45-minute call, but it was worth it because he really cared and he got my family in a program that now, I'll be able to afford and I'll never have to worry about not being able to pay a bill. He should be told to his boss because that's what everybody is looking for. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

I inherited my brother's house. I lived with him for 10 months before he died and I was making out the bills. I knew what energy company we've used before and I thought I'll see if I can just reestablish it. So I called their number because that was the electric company I was purchasing the energy before. The gentleman that I talked to from Just Energy seemed knowledgeable. He said that he has handled similar situations in the area and did most of the people, owners of rent properties and such, looking for a temporary set up or picking a protector plan. He suggested that I do that, so I did and it was quite neat.
I thought I needed to be at the house in order to see what was left turned on, just to make sure everything is okay when it's turned on. I did not realize it could be done electronically and it wasn't done till after I waited a while and called customer service to see when I might expect this to transpire 'cause the gentleman assured me it would be the same day. Evidently, they got caught off guard because he had assured me that he had everything turned off. The only nice thing they did was leave the refrigerator open so that it would dry out. But it all worked out well and it’s a good thing I was there.

I thought a while back I already had changed over to Just Energy and he told me I didn't. I had the confirmation number that they gave me but they say it was invalid and that nothing came up with that number.

Later he asked me to sign a paper, I asked for what? He said, "Just for customers record." Please neglect it." After some time I got one more bill of same amount and I called them again. I called them at least 4 times regarding the bill and at last I asked for the confirmation number but he said, "I don't have it." My electric bill is cheaper with Just Energy than it is with TXU which I had before. The only thing I didn't like was that I was on hold for over 20 minutes the last time I tried to get in touch with them. Then, when I finally got somebody, we got disconnected and they didn't call me back. I called them again and was set on hold for long, then finally I got through to somebody.
I have to punch the numbers like I'm coming through as a new customer in order to get anybody to answer the phone. If I press as an existing customer and say that I have questions or like terminating service at my old address, I would be set on hold there for more than 30 minutes. Then it said, "If you would like a return call. Press a certain number." The computer-generated voice would then give a date that they'll call back two to three days later, not even in the same day. I was very unhappy with the computer crap. I'd rather speak to a live person when I call than a computer and set on hold. But other than that, everything else is great. I'd recommend Just Energy because of their rates.

Just Energy Charges More for Gas and Electric! After receiving my Just Energy bill last month, I called National Fuel and found my "provider" was Just Energy and they have been charging me OVER THREE TIMES MORE than the prevailing rate for gas in my area! I then called NYSEG and found that Just Energy is also my electric provider and they are charging nearly DOUBLE the prevailing electric rate for my area. Do a thorough Google search of Just Energy and contact the Department of Public Service for your state and file a complaint if you have Just Energy.

I searched the number from Google and found the gas company so that's how I got in touch with Just Energy. I had Natural Peoples Gas, and my deal was going to be $52 a month, but Just Energy saved me $2. The guy who I spoke with was very polite and patient. There were a lot of questions that I didn't understand, but he walked me over them three times once again and I appreciate it. Right now, my payments don't increase, so I always know what the bill is going to be. It's not fluctuation from up and down, it's one step right and I like that. My first bill is due on the 29th, and it will be $50 every month. $105 was deposited and $35 was out directly, so I'm satisfied with that.

Just Energy employs the worst door to door salespeople I've ever seen. They won't ever leave, and will lie to your face to get you to sign some of the worst natural gas and electricity contracts that will charge you sky high rates. The contracts have huge termination fees so watch out! Their salespeople will say that all they want to do is inspect your furnace. Don't trust them! They will lie and weasel you into really bad contracts that are hard to get out of. In the end, Just Energy are scumbags and deserve to go out of business. I also find it suspicious that Just Energy used to have only a one star rating on this website and now there's a bunch of 5 star ratings recently (I bet it's Just Energy employees gaming the star system).

We recently connected electricity to our new house with Just Energy. The first month bill was $650 to cool 2400 sqft of living area which is too high. The previous tenant's bill with TXU were $260 for the same month. They used the AC just as much and even more for the same month. We then reduced our consumption. We switched off the AC downstairs during night time and we switch off the AC whenever we left the house. My eldest son went to college and he does not live with us, yet the bill for the second month did not change. It is $653 also.
I tried calling them on the phone to find a solution but their holding time was 45 minutes and I couldn't get through to them. I then sent them several emails to customer support but they don't answer back. I don't know what to do. We cannot continue with their rate. Their bills are ridiculously too high. I knew what was up from the get-go but I decided to play dumb to see how far this guy would go to make a sale. When I asked him again where he was from he quickly mumbled, "Just Energy," and pointed to something on his shirt that said "Just Energy." I told him I was with KW Hydro, and he said, "Yeah, Just Energy. We just need to check your bill to make sure the peak hours have been taken off." Me - "Why?" Him - "We just want to make sure you're not being overcharged for your hydro." Me - "So what do you need from me?" Him - "To see your hydro bill." Me - "Is this that thing where you want me to sign a contract to buy hydro in bulk?" Him - (sigh) "Yeah." Me - "I'm good. Thanks." And that was that.
I am taking the time to write this review because this service rep tried to make me think he was from my hydro provider and when I asked clarifying questions his answers were short and quickly followed by questions of his own, a distraction technique used by shady salesmen. Always be wary of unsolicited visitors folks. 99% of the time they're trying to get something from you.

My grandma signed up with Just Energy five years ago, and they told her she would get a flat rate of $500/month. That did not hold up if the house used too much energy, turned out Just Energy would charge more. This was probably in the contract, but it was never said to my grandmother. They pushed themselves making her believe that she was getting a good deal. That was not the case; she was on a fixed income and barely making ends meet.
Then she died two years ago and my aunt was taking care of the bills since she had passed, and finally my aunt came to me and asked if the utility bill was right. I find out that not only were they charging a rate of $.0899 kWh they added another charge $.025kwh on top of .0899 that is not shown anywhere on her contract. They call it a Green energy option, which I am not sure why they feel it was necessary to add since they were already overcharging her. That .025 (Green Energy Option) is something I will be following up on. That feels like theft, but I will find out.
Then on top of overcharging my dead grandmother, I finally got a hold of them and told them I want to close this account, of course, they need a death certificate, and now they are taking their sweet time to cancel. It has been over five business days since I sent them proof of her death and now they see losing money on a dead person. Also, when I sent them the death certificate, the reply email said they would contact me within two business days. That was lie!! No accountability.

Sometime in 2014, a young sales agent knocked on my door claiming they could save you a lot of money by switching to Just Energy. He asked to see my bill from Direct Energy and when I showed it to him, he confirmed that I could save a lot of money by switching to JUST ENERGY, a new company founded after the deregulation of utilities that offered rock bottom pricing.
Today I was shocked to find I have been paying up to 58% over the going rates! Gas should be about $3.79 Gj, electricity should be about $5.79 KwH. Doing some research, I found numerous news articles reporting fraudulent practices by this company and a sordid tale of deceit by Rebecca MacDonald the founder. I've been overcharged and feel cheated and abused.
Rebecca MacDonald, the CEO of the company has admitted to lying about her past and misleading people. She learned the effectiveness of door-to-door sales from her late husband and applied it to the dull and boring world of utility billing...and pulled millions in on a scam including me. A class action has been launched by the hundreds of sales agents claiming they didn't get treated fairly. I'm furious that we've been paying scalping rates for utilities, and many Albertans out of work are suffering and continuing to pay. Does anyone know of a class action for Alberta or Canadian citizens?

I signed up with this company and let me tell you it was trouble from the start. For one l signed up for one year and all of the sudden my plan was for two years. After I started service I received a letter from Oncor about two weeks after I signed up with this company stating that my electricity will be turned off because I don't have a provider (now if I have a ACCOUNT NUMBER HOW COULD I NOT). Then my first bill was 175.00 and I was hardly home and of course they had an excuse for that. My second bill was $292.86 and when I asked the rep tried to argue with me about using the heater and that was the cause of my bill being high. I explained that I don't use the heater like that and keep it at 70 which is fine with me since my windows are covered with curtains to insulate the heat.
But this is the kicker. Once I got thru to someone who decided to tell the truth on how their game works and here it goes how they get over on the public: They claim that you have an automatic 10 day grace period that is granted to you, (a normal person would think that the grace period starts from the date the bill is due example 02/16/2016). Here's the scheme - the so called 10 automatic grace period is before the actual due date of the bill so there is no grace period. I was told that the grace period starts from the date the bill was generated which makes no sense. How in the hell are you giving me a grace period if the dang bill not even due yet.
(This is not the kicker, here we go). If you don't pay your bill by the due date it is considered late, automatic $40.12 added to your bill. They charge $25.00 for a delinquent notice, so now we're at an additional $65.00 added to your bill. These people are scammers and you will regret it if you sign up. I have made the decision to just pay the 175.00 which is cheaper than my fake ass bill they tried to stick on me. All in all don't do business with these people you will regret it. If your bills are not accurate or you receive deceptive marketing material, unfair debt collection, don't just go elsewhere, it's important that your concerns and complaints are reports. Once the PUC or the AG receives enough complaints they must investigate. The above are Consumer Protection Divisions. They do not read these forums or boards and have no clue unless people actually take the time to file a complaint.
I've discovered most people are just too lazy to file complaints and as a result these corporations allowed to trample over your rights. If you refuse to make the effort to file formal complaints, don't come on these boards and complain expecting something to be done. Corporation count on your laziness. Long story short, I did sign, but Monday morning, one "business" day within my 3-day right to cancel a contract, I made calls to Just Energy and my current provider to cancel. Just Energy gave me a cancelation transaction code and said I will not be charged anything and I will be canceled. I learned that the rep at my door, Sat. expedited the switch, to switch me today, obviously within my 3-day cancellation period. When I called my current provider to explain and let them know I did NOT WANT to switch, my current provider found only the switch request from Just Energy, NOT my cancellation notice.
I am told by my current reputable company that I am set, will not see any interruption to my service and am in place to stay and not be switched. The reps that come to your door are aggressive, lie about the contract, and the rep will incompletely fill out the contract, and deceitfully convince you you have made a good decision. WRONG. Stay with the provider you trust and know.

Just cancelled with these guys. Brutal sales and deceiving. Do not use them at all. They will tell you that they are giving you price protection on your plan in that you will never be chartered more than 7.99 per kW on electricity or 3.49 on Gj on gas. However, what they don't tell you is that those prices are fixed. When the market is lower you are still charged the fixed rate. I have just been charged 7.99 per kW when the market is just over 5.00. They are making 3.00 per kW. Now they'll tell you how the charges may exceed past $8 yet they never tell you when that has happened.
I've seen it during the summer months, but that shouldn't be a problem seeing that there is more sunlight. Therefore, you are using less electricity on lights. During the dark months, it usually sits around $5-$6. So they scam you for most of the year at 7.99 and only one or two months the price may exceed $8 but only when there is more sunlight. Then they go on to tell you that natural disasters could potentially change the market price. We've just gone through a flood and our prices have not broken the $8 range. They sell fear and possibilities. But never do they entertain the thought that you would save more money by not paying for their fear mongering sales tactics.

A Just Energy employee came inside my apartment building yesterday and knocked on my door. Her name was Brittany ** (Chicago Illinois). She began her pushy sales pitch on us. We told her multiple times we weren't interested. She wouldn't take "No", for an answer. We were told by her that we did not have to sign a contract and then she tried to get one of my tenants to sign a 3 yr contract. After he said "No, Thank you" and kindly declined.
She moved upstairs to another tenant ~ an 80 yr old woman in my building. I told her to leave my building. She said she would and stayed. After I called the police she then finally started to leave my building. As she walked down the stairs past me... she yelled and screamed in my face and shoved her Just Energy badge in my face. She was extremely pushy, very aggressive, and unbelievably rude. She called me "ugly" as soon as she walked out my front door. Her and her coworker stood outside my building swearing and screaming at us. My husband asked them to leave and to both stop yelling and swearing outside our window at us, because we do have a 10 yr old little girl who was trying to do her homework and was extremely frightened by the two of them standing, yelling and swearing at us outside our window.
Brittany's coworker screamed to my husband it was all because of his dumb ass. Then Brittany ** and her co-worker walked by my front door and seen me standing there on the phone trying to make contact with Just Energy to make a complaint (Just Energy was closed). Brittany's co-worker asked her, "Is this the ** you’re talking about!?" I said to her that I was going to make a complaint to Just Energy and that I called the police. Co-worker, asked me if I wanted her name. I told her, "Yes". She repeated my address in a threatening manner as to warn me that she knew where I lived. She screamed at me a little more and then they finally both left. I was horrified at the behaviors of these two Just Energy employees. I couldn't believe how abusive and unprofessional these two women were to my family and I.

A lady did on line the third call but insisted that we did not pay and that's because you turned my electricity off. So I had to hang up with her to call my husband to text me the conf. #. I keep calling back to this company and system keeps hanging up or sends me to wrong places and once the computer stayed on Spanish. So I went to new service and some guy tried so hard to help me we even did three way or conference call and he even heard what I've been going thru. Terrible customer service and since I had to resort to this let's see if any one calls me from this company.

About 10 minutes ago there was a knock at our front door and it was a Just Energy employee Soliciting the neighborhood saying that they wanted to check to make sure our rate was correct because our gas company would be raising the rates and they wanted to offer us a deal. We had dealt with Just Energy before and did not want any part of the company as they did not help us before but ended up costing us more. When my husband first answered the door the man said he was from Just Energy but refused to show my husband his employee badge when asked. My husband told the man that we were not interested in his company's service and to please leave our front porch and property. When the employee kept talking my husband once again told him to leave our property and that we were not interested.
When the employee refused my husband told him he has 10 seconds to get off of our property or we will be calling the police. The employee then told my husband that he should not threaten him and he knows where we live and not to put our heads down at night because he will be back for us. When my husband went outside to ask if he was threatening us he said it was not a threat it was a promise, he has our address and will be back so we should be careful. He then continued to house next door yelling and threatening both my husband and I with harm. I am 9 months pregnant and also have my other child living here.
This is completely unacceptable for an employee to act this way to someone who did not want their product and was ask politely multiple times for them to leave their property. We ended up calling the police as the whole way down our street he was yelling back at us that he was going to get these "crackers" and they don't know who they are messing with and he will be back.

Just Energy refused to credit my account, due to Oncor sending them an estimated bill. I don't have average billing, they replaced my bad meter, and wants to send someone out a week late to test my meter to bill me off of my current reading from a previous billing cycle. Jose the manager with Just Energy was very rude and unprofessional, over talked me and didn't want to hear me out. All he did was point the blame at Oncor, and said they bill me off what they send them. He never addressed my problem, or tried to resolve it. Why have a meter tested, that has been replaced, because of the previous meter not communicating with the system?
Of course the new meter is going to read accurately, I commented it wasn't fair for me to be billed on an estimation and the meter wasn't working. His reply was "We don't bill off of estimation, we bill off of what Oncor sends over to them". Which is fine, but I don't have average billing, two Oncor don't have a date they sent over my usage, just an order date to check my meter. They didn't have any number to bill me off of. Fine all I was asking for was an adjustment be made to my account and all Just Energy could do was point the finger at Oncor. All he wanted to do was to follow protocol. Ask for his boss and he said he was the highest ranking there. Ask for corporate info said he couldn't give that out and then he didn't have it. I notified him that I would be filing a complaint and doing a customer review on him and his company.
I have had two estimated bills and he said he only see one from the previous month. I asked "So Oncor lied and said I have had 2 estimated bills". He said "I don't know". I told him "They just told me that". He said "All I see is 1". However, he was not helpful at all and then tell me I may have been undercharged, and I have been using my ac unit less. It is cooler now and of course my bill should decrease not increase. And I've been using less energy, However everyone be on the look out for estimated bills and non-working meters. Check your meter from time to time to make sure it works and it has power. Hope this was a help for new customers searching for a provider and for current ones as well.

As a new mover to Houston, I was referred to Just Energy by the property management. It is a terrible mistake for me to follow the suggestion without checking the review online first! Their unethical practice is as below: Unauthorized charges and purposely designed confusing bill - Various bogus charges are embedded in the bill without detailed listing. Consequently, you either pay it without notice or call the customer service to find out the detailed charges.
Extreme difficulty to get hold of a customer service representative. The phone number on the bill does not accept the calls if your phone has the new area codes. Even though you may find an alternative phone number after googling it, you will need to wait for at least 30 minutes to start to talk with someone in the right department. Then it will take another 30 minutes to get to your questions. Their office closes at 6:00 pm. How many working professionals will have the time to have this one hour at work to do so?
Despicable practice to track people with contract. After you identify the fraud in their bills, they will transfer to you another department with a lower rate and free from these bogus charges. But you need to sign another 12-month contract with them. For the bogus charges you found, they will not refund as you already paid for it before. They will refund only if you catch it in the 1st or 2nd month! I am now in the contest period. They claimed that they will pull out the phone record to see whether these bogus charges were previously communicated to me. I requested the record to be sent to me via email. Given the above experience, are you willing to consider this company as your service provider?

Yesterday marks the 3rd annual visit for Just Energy at my doorstep. The very first time I encountered Just Energy I was a little confused by his motives. Because my mother was not home at the time, I sent him off and have him come back. Knowing that I'm not the kind of person to believe everything I hear, I immediately looked at the reviews online and found out that this whole company was bogus.
Fortunately for us, he never came back, much to my dismay as I was going to have a thing or two to say to him. Unlike all these other reviews, I don't get this very often. I think in the last three years I've gotten it once a year. Last year my mother answered the door and, gullible as she was, answered all of their pathetic questions. She got mad at me and sent me off because I was screaming at her to "SEND HIM AWAY! IT'S A SCAM!" Thankfully, she ended up not doing it out of perhaps divine intervention or her having that ONE day where she was just too lazy to look for a bill.
Yesterday my brother and I were playing League of Legends and a Just Energy lady knocked on my door. Before answering it, I immediately recognized who she was through the blinds and knew exactly how to deal with her. I was also prepared to slam the door on her as I know too well how marketing works... Ignore the smokescreen they throw at you and continue to pursue them to buy your product. A smokescreen being something like ignoring them say "I'm not interested" until they say it twice or thrice. I opened the door and she began saying maybe a few lines and I said "...we're not interested." I began to close the door, and as predicted, she said "not interested in what?" I ignored and politely closed the door. She walked off like 10 seconds later.
My brother then said "Wow. You are so rude. You don't have to slam the door on people." I immediately said "It's not my fault. You wouldn't understand. You have to have a thick skin for scammers." He was like "How do you know she was trying to scam us?" I was like "Does it really matter? If you don't believe me, Google it." He finally said "You were still mean." I then said "No I wasn't. I merely abided by natural law. Dealing with scammers is like being I'm a fist fight... Manners, liberties, and rights are automatically ceased after you throw the first punch. When that happens, it is no longer illegal to fight back. The same is true for scammers. When they show up acting all shady, I no longer reserve the right to simply 'be nice' to them. They lost that privilege immediately when they tried scamming me." Hope this review helps.

My family and I have just moved into low income housing after a tragedy struck my family just months earlier and have had scams occur almost daily since our move here. This man asked if I was the person in charge of handling the electric bill, to which I responded "yes". He said that he was with the company Just Energy, an affiliate of AEP - my provider and pretty much the only provider in this area. He said that he needed to come in and take a look at my energy bill because we should be receiving a discount and he needed to make sure this was happening. I told him that we were busy and that it was not a good time. He asked when he could come back and I just told him I did not have an answer for him and shut the door.

All of the posts I have just read are quite revealing. I made a decision to become a 'Contractor' for Just Energy. My time with them was one day. I am a woman of integrity and great character and what I saw being done with potential new customers and watching new customer agree to use Just Energy as their natural gas supplier made me decide that I want nothing to do with this company. The very 'successful' contractor that I shadowed for several hours was confrontative with homeowners. At one point I thought a woman would come flying out the door at her after my 'co-worker' would not leave as she was told to 'get the hell off my property'. My co-worker told her "I need to tell you what to do." Omg... I was already backed down the driveway not wanting to be a part of this. I mouth quietly to the woman at the door 'I'm sorry'.
Later, my co-worker signed to people and failed to disclose to them the information about 'Green Energy' that lowers the pollution footprint. She added this fee on their bill and told them it would only be 20 cents per month. It is actually 20 cents per Therm used. My co-worker will get financially rewarded for this addition on the customer's bill. I believe the Green fees is where the customers get the higher bills each month. Too, I must say to you who have signed with Just Energy. The lower rates you are to keep track of on your bill is for you to personally lock in by calling Customer Service. The low rates do not lock automatically. Just Energy, in my orientation and on the paperwork that is signed, states that they do not and are not to promise any savings to the customer.
As contractors, they are not to sign anyone who cannot speak English. I saw firsthand that a Spanish speaking Contractor was having a full Spanish speaking conversation with a homeowner. A no no. The homeowner signed the contract with the Green agreed to. When the verification call was done (the Contractor is not to coach the homeowner during the call) the homeowner could not understand the English language and the Contractor coached her answers all the way through the call. I was flabbergasted! I did share this information with my trainer. (She is the one who was non-compliant with her signees.) It was a horrible day. I thought it was a plan under my current provider. When I found out it wasn't, I called Just Energy to cancel, and made sure my current provider transferred service to the new house. Just Energy promised back a refund of 133.00 of my refund within 3-5 business days which would have been June 23rd.

They also don't tell you there's a charge EVERY TIME you add money to the account. If you want to be harassed every month and your rates to jump up high without warning, this is the company for you. When I signed up they had a fairly good rate, "and if you cannot a deposit of over 200 dollars this company will sign you up." What they do not tell you is the rate they tell you they will charge per kilowatt changes after 30 days. They also will not tell you that before you even get your first bill, yhey will cut your lights out for no apparent reason. When you call them to find out why they cut your lights out after just 10 days of service they seem to have memory problems and tell you how much they will charge you to turn them back on again! If you are on a fixed budget like seniors are and you need an extension due to them not working with you to have your bill pay on a certain day of the month, they tell you to wait for a disconnect notice to come out before you can make a arrangement to pay it.
In the meanwhile you will receive many threatening calls. You tell them what they told you to do it makes no difference. They for some reason cannot simply put the agreed date of payment in their system and tell you to call back after another date. Insane. I spent 12 months of rate increases while not even using more kilowatts and being harassed at least 5 times a month. This includes after the bill has been paid. They call you saying your lights are going to be cut off and to contact them right away to avoid and send another disconnect notice in mail and email.
Then when they see you have changed to another company, even more calls come in daily, wanting to know why you changed and trying to offer a cheaper rate which is higher than other companies. Also they add up a bill that is almost the same cost of early contract cancellation. Did I mention they call at least twice a day now, wanting to know why you changed companies? It is Just Insane Energy, and bad for your health due to the added stress.

I have since switched providers and have move to the market pricing instead of a "PRICE PROTECTION Plan". While in theory it makes sense to try to cover the cost of RISING energy prices over the long haul, my findings show that I have paid way more over the last few years that had I simply accepted the monthly market rates and the ups and downs therein.
However, the most concerning issue is that Just Energy website shows an early EXIT FEE of $100 per meter if clients cancel the contract within 1 year, but none if over 1 year of service. And they are not disclosing the actual ENERGY rate, but instead energy plus TDU rate. So you really don't know what you are paying. And if you read the fine print, there are potentially additional per kWh charges on top of the already high rates shown. A 5 year contract with a per year penalty for early termination! Predatory behavior. These companies have to be approved by your state's Public Utility Commission in order to sell electricity. So, file complaints and get them stopped. Guy shows up at my door the day before Thanksgiving. In spite of asking him to leave, I was happy w/ my current provider (Green Mountain) he kept selling his stuff. Since I am a widow w/ a very limited income, and she is a single mother w/ 3 children, (fighting cancer) saving money is important to us. He GUARANTEED us that our bills would be less than what we were currently paying. He had the current bills in his hand when he made that claim. Told us there would be no line items that ran up the bill, just one charge. HA HA HA. I was paying 9 cents with GM, they "sold" me at 11 cents because they wouldn't be charging all the extra fees GM did. My bill was set at 13 cents "because I didn't USE enough electricity" to suit them.
My first bill was adjusted down a bit, but still outrageous. My previous bill was for $60.00... my first Just Energy bill? $225. I was stunned. That is almost 4x what my bill usually is. I called them - their advice, go to the food bank to feed myself, try getting a charity to help pay the bill and sign up for "free" payment from the "Light up Texas" program. In other words, grovel, become a welfare recipient, but pay THEM. They will barely work with you and the charges for being late - over $50.00. I now can't keep up with my bills, this one or any other in a attempt to pay these loan sharks "their" money. I truly regret that I ever thought I could listen to these lying, thieving, con artists.
Oh, my daughter - she got a bill of almost $700. Quite a bit over the $250 usual she had. Same advise. Go on welfare. How is Just Energy a scam? This is how I have seen their company sales reps pull a fast one on their customers. Conveniently, they show up at your door midday on a weekend, near the end of the winter season, while you are preoccupied with your favorite afternoon relaxation, and begin fast talking about rates, and how they will save you money, and how the energy market is volatile. And so they can smooth out those volatile markets with one easy flat rate, making your bills consistent each month. The rate you will find will be near or slightly discounted from the current bill rate of your actual energy provider.
This is the trick, as they inserted all the psychological fear of impending energy costs, you fail to recognize that this visit of Just Energy is in the midst of prime energy consumption, and so the rates are elevated for the demand. The rate looks good for now, but in a month's time, you will note that you are paying winter rates in the summer, fall, and spring. You can also find out how much the current rate is online for your region, and you will note that it will drop significantly come summer.
This is how they make their money, they don't actually provide energy, but sucker people to engage into a long term contract, offering a flat rate and nothing more. They are a middle man leaching off energy needs. That's it. My wife and I got screwed into this when we became first time homeowners, and realized it's several years after the error on our part, and somehow, managed to get screwed again into a new 5 year contract, under questionable circumstances, which I requested information on how we did so, knowing well it was a scam, and they had a voice authorizing the renewal.
How are they unethical? Well beyond how they slam all this information and fear in your face on your lazy afternoon, it's how they act when you wish NOT to renew. I almost got scammed again a third time by voice authorizing the renewal, when they had asked me to confirm to their phone rep, to record me agreeing who I was, and it was at that moment I became aware, that this is exactly how they nabbed a recording of me from last contract.
I immediately asked if this was authorizing the renewal, and the door rep said "yes", and I said "NO, not this time thank you." I am unaware that I was renewing the contract. He shut his phone off, and I said that I will review the information and will contact them if I wish to renew at that time. He pressured me about how fantastic the rate is etc etc, and would not take no for an answer. Never slowed down his speech as I eased him back out of my home, and closed the door. Since that almost blunder into another contract with these parasites, we have been harassed weekly by representatives, and the worst is they don't take no for an answer. As soon as we hear Just Energy, we say "no thank you", and try to shut the door, but they keep on fast talking even in the face of a closing door.
We have had 5 reps now come to our home, most notably, because the contract is maturing soon, so they really need to round the fish, hook, line, and sinker. The last, my wife said to the rep that this is bound for harassment, and we have been taking notes, and will lodge a complaint to the police. If you hear 'Just Energy', shut the door without a word and hide!

After numerous attempts at telling these men who showed up at my door selling their "better" energy company on a weekly basis that I was not interested, I caved out of just wanting my own privacy back. They tell you this long winded story that talks about green energy and how you would be part of the solution. They offer to go over your previous energy bills and guarantee you their price is lower. Well when I got my first bill, I was in shock at how drastically more expensive they were compared to my prior energy company. I call in, upset as anyone would be, and request them to break down my bill so I can understand what exactly was so expensive.
Turns out that I was paying premium prices for this green energy that was not properly explained when I was kind enough to let this exhaustive stranger into my home. I did not realize that I would be locked into a multi-year contract where the only escape is to PAY OUT the remainder of it. I do not have that kind of money at one time as I have to pay off loans from taking two science degrees to try to better my career. I feel robbed every single month and that bill is just a painful reminder that there is no way out.
To top it all off, I get a call from one of their snarky representatives that I had an outstanding bill of over $300 asking me when I was going to pay it. Funny part of the story is I paid the full amount of my last bill 4 days ago. The price they were accusing me of not paying was the paid bill PLUS next month's statement which I have yet to receive! I am appalled by this money-hungry company who preys on its customers by simply exhausting them and interjecting into their lives until they make the same mistake I did.

I recently reviewed "Power to choose" options on the named website. Just Energy mentioned they had an 8.5 center per kWh and felt the deal was exceptional. After speaking with a representative, they stated the rate is 8.5 cents for one year. After receiving my first bill, not only did they overcharge me for my rate, they added 14.95 on top of the higher rate. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY as your energy provider. TOTAL CROOKS!

A woman showed up at my house and basically bullied me into the contract and completely confused me about what I was really signing. She assured me that they had a 3 day grace period to cancel with no fees. After she left I had a bad feeling in my gut about the company and decided that I wanted no part of them. So the NEXT DAY I called and cancelled the account. I made sure to write down the cancellation confirmation number because something told me that it would not be the last time I dealt with this horrible con-artist company. Keep in mind I cancelled in April 2014.
Sure enough on December 26, 2014 I got an alert on my credit report that the company had sent me to collections for $539. Seeing as how I had proof of cancellation during the 3 day grace period, I called them. It is now January 14th, 2015 and I have called every single week, multiple times a week and they are just now FINALLY getting in contact with collections to get it removed. They just kept telling me whatever they thought I wanted to hear just to get me off the phone. I had to get furious and threaten legal action in order to get transferred to a supervisor.
This time, I made sure to get his name and extension number so that if he tries to blow me off again that I will call him every single damn hour and make his job miserable to make sure this is resolved. It's really sad that it has to be that way but they don't care to help people or fix their mistakes. They do not care about the customer. Do not use these crooks.

Here I thought I was getting the opportunity of a lifetime working for Just Energy, whom seems to promise that even the average employee will make 50,000 a year and that all you’re doing is protecting people, gas price at $5.99 per mcf or 59.9 cents per ccf (this was the rate they offered at the time I was employed). It seemed like I could make good money helping people out as well when actuality I was three days in and on my first day one door I knocked on had a gentleman who was not happy to answer the door, to see a just energy sales rep at his door. I told him it was my first day and he said I should make it my last and that what I was doing was a scam.
After three days of working at the company and knocking doors for ten hours a day (expected to knock 250 doors a day and average employee does 15-25 deals a week or already that's what was said in orientation) I got one deal. So then I began to research the just energy name and found CBS 2 in Chicago had even done a special report in 2011 about how the company changed their name but were still involved in same deceptive tactics.
They say your price will be protected but the rate they protect you at (5.99) is usually higher already than the market price for gas in your area from your provider (5.04 currently). Now you become scared that the rates will exceed 5.99 but in the five years ahead they most likely will not. Then they are supposed to say “Congratulations you also qualify to ‘go green’ for an additional $2 per mcf/.20 per ccf,” when in actuality the best reps (the ones that make the most deals and money) say “Congratulations you'll also be going green today for an extra $2." Notice the "per unit" is conveniently missing and now you aren't told you qualify, you're TOLD that you’re going green. They check the box and hand it to you to sign and after having it explained you feel confident that everything is understood when it is not and you are being lied to the moment you open your door.
If you work here, quit now unless you enjoy screwing people over for a living and wasting people's time. So it ends up being 7.99 per mcf plus. And you can bet they will charge that full 7.99 price like they did me as they signed me up six months prior to my job search and I would have never known had I not had the employment opportunity presented to me at the time that it was. I decided to quit and canceled because I can't just go around ** people just to make a buck.

I only wished I would have done better research before signing up. The rep at my door used every trick he could to convince me. They were associated with my old (at the time, current) energy provider and that this was a new program that would help me save money by using a green energy source. It wasn't until the shock of my very high first bill that I did better research online and I learnt Just Energy has absolutely nothing to do with my old energy provider, who ultimately, did offer cheaper rates. I was able to renegotiate for a better rate, however their admin fees still kill you. And for everyone who has posted saying it will cost them X amount to cancel their contract... I have you all beat! It will cost me $787.50 to get out of my contract!!
In hindsight, I really wish I would have thanked the rep at my door for the information, shut the door, then gone online to do my research. If I was still interested, I could always call them. However, by being gullible, ignorant, and succumbing to the pressures of a salesman, I made a big mistake I'm paying for now. Don't make the same mistake!

There is a review on here praising Just Energy on how they saved money on a variable rate and how they took their kids on a vacation with their savings. I am here to tell you that it is a lie. Just Energy in OHIO is rated the 2nd worst company to do business with. They have changed their name 5 times, robbed 4 old woman, been busted with drugs in their cars, and paid over 24 million in fines to the state for questionable practices. Does this sound like a good company to you?
My grandmother signed up with Just Energy about 6 months ago. She had just moved to Ohio and was excited when someone told her she could save money on her energy bill (Which by the way they are not allowed to tell you that you will save money, it is against PUCO regulations). After she signed up the first month was nice. She saved about 15 dollars on her bill. When she got her next bill is when the trouble started. Her rate went from .0589 on her electric to .0114930 almost double, and her gas went from .54 per CCF to 1.10 per CCF. Her bill went from 102.5 to 247.66. Does this sound like a good company to you?
They scam you by saving you money on your first month and they pray you don't look at your bill and they screw you. The same person who praised them on here said that her variable rate went down in the summer but there are thousands of reviews in Ohio of the rates skyrocketing in the summer as well. Do your research guy, and to cancel. I waited on hold for 2 hours and when I finally got through to someone they did not speak English so I hung up. I eventually just helped her sign up with another company and they canceled them off her bill after they called her 30 times trying to get her to stay with them. The company she is with now seems okay, the rates are at least lower and have been for the last 4 months. DON'T GET SUCKED IN BY THESE SCAM ARTISTS, ASK TO SEE THEIR PERMITS, WHICH THEY WILL TELL YOU THEIR MANAGER HAS, BUT LAW REQUIRES THEM TO CARRY THEM AT ALL TIMES. IF YOU SEE THESE GUYS ON THE STREETS CALL THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT.

When I called I got some survey for a trip. I never did talk to anyone. I guess that's how much they value their customers. It may ruin my credit rating but I refuse to pay these crooks!!! DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR TO THEM AND GET CAUGHT UP IN THEIR SCAM. I wish I knew this before now. I never would have signed but they make it sound great and as a single mom I try to save where I can. I don't understand why people say it's a scam... Or that down communities are a no soliciting community and that you will call the cops? First off the company had been around for over 20 years. Secondly every city the visit they have a business license, which the board of the city council approves. Feel free to ask to see their license. There's no such thing as a no soliciting community unless it's posted on every door (then they won't even knock, unless they didn't see the sign because of poor placement). Every company does door to door. Telus too. Sadly there is no database for any electricity company, to show who has been where and when. People always move in and out. They are just doing their job. It's not a rip off.
Admin fees are dropped to one. Transaction fees are completely taken off. Rates are protected with the blend and extend. So if the rates ever drop you drop too. You move they move it for free. You move out of province or country it's canceled for free. There's no deposit or extra fees. They offer green options. They do verification calls to protect both customer and employee. They don't go around like direct energy saying they are giving you and upgrade. When really direct gives you a new contract with a free thermostat. To make it sound all good. But then don't mention that your gas is floating and both electricity and gas has 0.99-2.00$ transaction fees. That's and extra $20-40$ a month. And direct energy has lost their license before too. Direct goes around telling you that you will save X amount of money per bill (which is illegal).
Just Energy is amazing. The company follows all guild lines to protect customers. Their customer service is amazing and based in Canada, not in a third world country that doesn't speak a lick of English. Their rates are great! No transaction fees!!! I can't understand how some people say well it's only going to save me $300 a year. I'd rather stay on floating.... And people... Do you think electrify and hydro will go up in the next 5 years?? Then protect your rates. Not fix or lock. Protect so they can drop down in the summer as well. With the money we saved on Just Energy we put aside and saved, took our kids on a vacation to the Cuba. That's 2.5-3 years on just energy for 6 people. That's a free vacation for just protecting your rates. Money adds up! If you don't want them coming to your house put a no splicing sign up. It makes their day a lot nicer. Trust me. They don't want to be speaking to bitchy nasty people who slam doors on them. They are doing their job like you...

Off of Merchants street in the North Winton Neighborhoods, I was approached on a Friday November 21, around 6 pm by two young ladies that asked if they could come in to talk about my Rochester gas and electric bill. They had badges on and expressed they have been asked to reach me on behalf of RG&E. I let them in and a young lady by the name of Carli **, contractor number **, with Just Energy, lead the conversation with an aggressive sales pitch. She had asked me if I wanted to save money on my gas and electric, and literally told me everyone she has talked to in my neighborhood wants to save money and had a laugh about it. She then very persistently badgered me about seeing my RG&E bill, which reluctantly brought out on my phone.
After seeing my account, she pointed out that my market rates are variable, and go up and down based on the market demand. She said she was sent by RG&E to lock my rates into a fixed rate and let me know that she is with an Ekso provider that can help me save this money. She promised me savings, and said I would be locked for three years. She quoted my natural gas at .56 therm/ccf and my electric at 9.6 kWh. In this economy where I am counting every penny, I just so happened to know my average therm/ccf and kWh from calculating my monthly bills from October 2013-2014. My average all last year therm/ccf came to .4875 for gas and 6.99 kWh for electricity.
With this knowledge I said, “Why would I want your higher rates?” and she really got aggressive and told me because I have no control over the markets and that I have to have control. I was taken aback entirely by the exchange and asked how long she was with her company, she told me a year. I asked how long the business has been around and her colleague said a year but at the same time Carli said seven years. At this point I was confused, disoriented, and was getting the scam vibe. I asked them if they could leave a contract with me and they refused. After I said that's unprofessional, they disagreed and told me it’s quite practical.
I strongly warn anyone who is in contact with Just Energy to do their homework before they sign any paper work. They were third party, story telling me about how they have already signed up four families on my street and I wish I could know which households they were because I would strongly urge them to google just energy scam.
