Rep shows up on my backdoor. Tells me he is not selling anything, just doing survey of my area to make sure I am getting best rates for my elec and gas. Needs to see my recent paper bills to confirm rate. I question who he represents - city, province for this survey? He tells me 'independent company'. Red flag, but he tells me he is not selling! Just wanting to be sure I am not getting ripped off. Tell him again I am not interested. Next orders me to go and get the paper bills now! Won't leave my doorstep. Get my spouse and he tells the rep the same thing! We told him to leave our property and finally had to close the door in his face. He was still belligerent, rude, annoying, pushy to the very end. I was ready to call cops when he refused to leave property! After he left, I looked up company on website and read all the SCAM stories! Feel sorry for the people who have been taken by their lies.

I'm tired of these guys coming to my house!!! I've lived here for 15+ years and now they've been here 5-6 times since January. At first I was nice about it saying "I'm fine thanks" but they just don't stop. Over the months I've learned rudeness is the only way!!! This guy just showed up again, Asian mid 20's. I told him "no" he asks "why?" again, "the BBB (Better business bureau) rated you guys an F." I asked the man to take me off the list then he got the angry eyes and tells me to "call customer service." I don't have time to sit on the phone and wait to 45 mins to talk to a dude for 2 mins to take me off a list. I don't even wanna be on/know why I'm on. Needless to say, things got a little crazy!!! It got to the point I pointed behind him saying "now GTFO of here!!!" Sorry about the reference there but it did happen.

Some of the scummiest door to door sales people I've ever met. They asked me whether I was receiving some BS "energy credits" and wanted to see my energy bill. I told them to take a hike. They just want to see your account number so they can switch you over to a really bad fixed rate electricity prices. If you try to cancel, you're still with $500+ cancellation fees. Stay away! If you're in Alberta there is a 10-day cooling off period where you can cancel if you get fooled by them.

Contacted Just Energy about our move. They called us 3 times regarding this & our new address. The technician that came to remove the thermostat tore the drywall on our wall & did not offer to clean the mess. On arrival at our new address a call was made to set up an appointment to reinstall the thermostat. I made an appointment between 8-12 AM & nobody showed.

All of the posts I have just read are quite revealing. I made a decision to become a 'Contractor' for Just Energy. My time with them was one day. I am a woman of integrity and great character and what I saw being done with potential new customers and watching new customer agree to use Just Energy as their natural gas supplier made me decide that I want nothing to do with this company. The very 'successful' contractor that I shadowed for several hours was confrontative with homeowners. At one point I thought a woman would come flying out the door at her after my 'co-worker' would not leave as she was told to 'get the hell off my property'. My co-worker told her "I need to tell you what to do." Omg... I was already backed down the driveway not wanting to be a part of this. I mouth quietly to the woman at the door 'I'm sorry'.

Later, my co-worker signed to people and failed to disclose to them the information about 'Green Energy' that lowers the pollution footprint. She added this fee on their bill and told them it would only be 20 cents per month. It is actually 20 cents per Therm used. My co-worker will get financially rewarded for this addition on the customer's bill. I believe the Green fees is where the customers get the higher bills each month. Too, I must say to you who have signed with Just Energy. The lower rates you are to keep track of on your bill is for you to personally lock in by calling Customer Service. The low rates do not lock automatically. Just Energy, in my orientation and on the paperwork that is signed, states that they do not and are not to promise any savings to the customer.

As contractors, they are not to sign anyone who cannot speak English. I saw firsthand that a Spanish speaking Contractor was having a full Spanish speaking conversation with a homeowner. A no no. The homeowner signed the contract with the Green agreed to. When the verification call was done (the Contractor is not to coach the homeowner during the call) the homeowner could not understand the English language and the Contractor coached her answers all the way through the call. I was flabbergasted! I did share this information with my trainer. (She is the one who was non-compliant with her signees.) It was a horrible day. I turned in my badge and 'uniform' of hat and shirt and materials into the office today. I have dusted my feet off. Be warned.

They care about how many they sell to get the biggest pay check. That's all but this company. Stupid. Don't get it. Stay with your companies because they lie.

I sold my 2400sf home with 3 people living there & had bills anywhere from $100-$200/mo. I moved into a 950sf apartment by myself and now my bill is just as much! Overpriced! They were so easy to sign up with but now if I cancel I believe I have to pay a phenomenal cancellation fee. This is the first time I've been able to buy deregulated electricity as I've been in a co-op for decades. This is a tough lesson to learn being gouged by electric companies. If rates are as low as $0.08/kwh, why is this company so high? Furthermore the website sucks. You can't log in to save your life!!! And, ** service. Last week I moved into my home. I made a transfer date a week ahead of time with current provider, but when I got home into my new house, I was out of power. When I called customer service, (who I thought was my current provider) set me up a new account with Just Energy, which I had no idea I wasn't setting up the transfer service with my current provider because I didn't know what Just Energy was. I thought it was a plan under my current provider. When I found out it wasn't, I called Just Energy to cancel, and made sure my current provider transferred service to the new house. Just Energy promised back a refund of 133.00 of my refund within 3-5 business days which would have been June 23rd.

Now they are telling me it's under investigation and won't be until 30-45 days from when the investigation has started. This has been the most ridiculous customer service I have ever received, no one seems to know what is going on and cannot give me a reasonable explanation why my account went under "investigation" and why I won't be receiving my money.

I have spent over $300 a month on my electricity with this company because THEY DON'T TELL YOU the price kWh fluctuates. They also don't tell you there's a charge EVERY TIME you add money to the account. Their customer service is just God awful, and they make it seem like helping you is just the last thing they want to do.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone not even my worst enemy. I have had nothing but awful experience from us "miraculously" using $50 of electricity in ONE DAY to our power going out for no reason, just our apartment with well over $100 in the prepaid account. I suggest no one ever uses this company and uses powertochoose.com and finding ANY other company. I'm not ugh Gexa and I have a FLAT RATE of 6 cents kWh. I've paid OVER 20 cents kWh BECAUSE THEY DON'T TELL YOU ANYTHING.

I was sent a bill to settle my account which was sent to collections. We paid the bill which I was told was for cancellation of gas and electricity and the new thermostat, approximately 700.00. Six months later, they call us asking for more money stating that we owe them for the thermostat, but if we come back to their service, we would not have to pay. If you want to be harassed every month and your rates to jump up high without warning, this is the company for you. When I signed up they had a fairly good rate, "and if you cannot a deposit of over 200 dollars this company will sign you up." What they do not tell you is the rate they tell you they will charge per kilowatt changes after 30 days. They also will not tell you that before you even get your first bill, yhey will cut your lights out for no apparent reason. When you call them to find out why they cut your lights out after just 10 days of service they seem to have memory problems and tell you how much they will charge you to turn them back on again! If you are on a fixed budget like seniors are and you need an extension due to them not working with you to have your bill pay on a certain day of the month, they tell you to wait for a disconnect notice to come out before you can make a arrangement to pay it.

In the meanwhile you will receive many threatening calls. You tell them what they told you to do it makes no difference. They for some reason cannot simply put the agreed date of payment in their system and tell you to call back after another date. Insane. I spent 12 months of rate increases while not even using more kilowatts and being harassed at least 5 times a month. This includes after the bill has been paid. They call you saying your lights are going to be cut off and to contact them right away to avoid and send another disconnect notice in mail and email.

Then when they see you have changed to another company, even more calls come in daily, wanting to know why you changed and trying to offer a cheaper rate which is higher than other companies. Also they add up a bill that is almost the same cost of early contract cancellation. Did I mention they call at least twice a day now, wanting to know why you changed companies? It is Just Insane Energy, and bad for your health due to the added stress.

As with many other people on this site, the sales reps promise of "price protection" and lower overall rates were misleading to say the least. I have since switched providers and have move to the market pricing instead of a "PRICE PROTECTION Plan". While in theory it makes sense to try to cover the cost of RISING energy prices over the long haul, my findings show that I have paid way more over the last few years that had I simply accepted the monthly market rates and the ups and downs therein.

However, the most concerning issue is that Just Energy website shows an early EXIT FEE of $100 per meter if clients cancel the contract within 1 year, but none if over 1 year of service. They are now asking me for $300 per meter, even though I had been with them for three years. I have since asked the Alberta Energy Advocate to comment. BEWARE...

I hear about and read about complaints against this company ALL THE TIME. The current rates they show on their EFL are very high compared to other companies in the same TDU. And they are not disclosing the actual ENERGY rate, but instead energy plus TDU rate. So you really don't know what you are paying. And if you read the fine print, there are potentially additional per kWh charges on top of the already high rates shown. A 5 year contract with a per year penalty for early termination! Predatory behavior. These companies have to be approved by your state's Public Utility Commission in order to sell electricity. So, file complaints and get them stopped. IN TEXAS, complaints against regulated utility companies should be filed with the PUC and the OPUC. PUC TEXAS - customer@puc.texas.gov. OPUC TEXAS - customer@opuc.texas.gov.

Guy shows up at my door the day before Thanksgiving. In spite of asking him to leave, I was happy w/ my current provider (Green Mountain) he kept selling his stuff. He went next door to my daughter’s house and convinced her she could really save money on her electric bill. Since I am a widow w/ a very limited income, and she is a single mother w/ 3 children, (fighting cancer) saving money is important to us. He GUARANTEED us that our bills would be less than what we were currently paying. He had the current bills in his hand when he made that claim. Told us there would be no line items that ran up the bill, just one charge. HA HA HA. I was paying 9 cents with GM, they "sold" me at 11 cents because they wouldn't be charging all the extra fees GM did. My bill was set at 13 cents "because I didn't USE enough electricity" to suit them.

My first bill was adjusted down a bit, but still outrageous. My previous bill was for $60.00... my first Just Energy bill? $225. I was stunned. That is almost 4x what my bill usually is. I called them - their advice, go to the food bank to feed myself, try getting a charity to help pay the bill and sign up for "free" payment from the "Light up Texas" program. In other words, grovel, become a welfare recipient, but pay THEM. They will barely work with you and the charges for being late - over $50.00. I now can't keep up with my bills, this one or any other in a attempt to pay these loan sharks "their" money. I truly regret that I ever thought I could listen to these lying, thieving, con artists.

Oh, my daughter - she got a bill of almost $700. Quite a bit over the $250 usual she had. Same advise. Go on welfare. I am stuck in a contract that I can't pay, I have lost over 20# - can't afford food and am now afraid to use ANY electricity. Never mind I have nothing more I can give up. I have no cable, no internet, (am writing this from a work computer) etc....I have nothing left to give up in order to pay this outrageous bill to this company.

How is Just Energy a scam? This is how I have seen their company sales reps pull a fast one on their customers. Conveniently, they show up at your door midday on a weekend, near the end of the winter season, while you are preoccupied with your favorite afternoon relaxation, and begin fast talking about rates, and how they will save you money, and how the energy market is volatile. And so they can smooth out those volatile markets with one easy flat rate, making your bills consistent each month. The rate you will find will be near or slightly discounted from the current bill rate of your actual energy provider.

This is the trick, as they inserted all the psychological fear of impending energy costs, you fail to recognize that this visit of Just Energy is in the midst of prime energy consumption, and so the rates are elevated for the demand. The rate looks good for now, but in a month's time, you will note that you are paying winter rates in the summer, fall, and spring. You can also find out how much the current rate is online for your region, and you will note that it will drop significantly come summer.

This is how they make their money, they don't actually provide energy, but sucker people to engage into a long term contract, offering a flat rate and nothing more. They are a middle man leaching off energy needs. That's it. My wife and I got screwed into this when we became first time homeowners, and realized it's several years after the error on our part, and somehow, managed to get screwed again into a new 5 year contract, under questionable circumstances, which I requested information on how we did so, knowing well it was a scam, and they had a voice authorizing the renewal.

How are they unethical? Well beyond how they slam all this information and fear in your face on your lazy afternoon, it's how they act when you wish NOT to renew. I almost got scammed again a third time by voice authorizing the renewal, when they had asked me to confirm to their phone rep, to record me agreeing who I was, and it was at that moment I became aware, that this is exactly how they nabbed a recording of me from last contract.

I immediately asked if this was authorizing the renewal, and the door rep said "yes", and I said "NO, not this time thank you." I am unaware that I was renewing the contract. He shut his phone off, and I said that I will review the information and will contact them if I wish to renew at that time. He pressured me about how fantastic the rate is etc etc, and would not take no for an answer. Never slowed down his speech as I eased him back out of my home, and closed the door. Since that almost blunder into another contract with these parasites, we have been harassed weekly by representatives, and the worst is they don't take no for an answer. As soon as we hear Just Energy, we say "no thank you", and try to shut the door, but they keep on fast talking even in the face of a closing door.

We have had 5 reps now come to our home, most notably, because the contract is maturing soon, so they really need to round the fish, hook, line, and sinker. The last, my wife said to the rep that this is bound for harassment, and we have been taking notes, and will lodge a complaint to the police. If you hear 'Just Energy', shut the door without a word and hide!

The representative reported that Just energy charged me a higher rate for the cost of our gas which was more expensive than my original utility company. I called Just Energy and they offered me a better rate on my gas @ 39 cents per unit used. I said okay I will go with it for one more month and see what my next bill will be like.

I just received my monthly bill again and got a 542 dollar bill this month, which is just the cost of natural gas. The lower rates had not kicked in on this bill yet, but come to find out they have been charging me over 1 dollar per unit used. Outrageous. Current utility currently offers 49 cents per unit used and has not gone any higher than 60 cents according to my utility company. I forbid anyone to get caught up in this scandalous company. I highly even doubt that the natural gas they supplied to me is even clean energy. Please stay away from this company!! They are deceitful, misleading, and are only looking to make a profit.

Just energy is a Scam. They promised me a flat rate with their "guaranteed rate promise". They also promised me there would be no penalty for canceling their services for The ENTIRE 5 year term. This lie cost me $75/service. I cancelled due to 250 - $550 bills from them. They varied greatly every month. The bills started low and increased every month. The statements they sent me were also in some sort of weird format I could not open. I asked them many times to send them in PDF or some other common format and they always promised they would and never did until I cancelled in the end. Though their call reps were polite, and robotic, the service was terrible. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

Called and questioned and they said everything was correct. More or less too bad. I called again to question if we had a fee associated with leaving Just Energy and the answer was NO. Switched back to old electric provider and received a bill from JUST ENERGY of 175.00 for exit fee, under 2000 kW usage fee of 9.95, and a manual payment fee of 4.95. What a crook of a company. The previous 2 months were for $0 which happens every year around the time they visited... I assume because NYSEG estimates and overestimated which explains the $0 owed. Just Energy claimed they would keep my bill on an even amount (no ups and downs monthly). My bills since using Just Energy have skyrocketed beyond belief. My home is tiny (no exaggeration) and I went from approximately $180-$250 depending on the season to $835-$916 the last 2 months alone!! I am cancelling today and of course there is a $50 charge to cancel the service as well. I have learned my lesson and wouldn't recommend anyone to switch from the provider they currently use.

They tell you this long winded story that talks about green energy and how you would be part of the solution. They offer to go over your previous energy bills and guarantee you their price is lower. Well when I got my first bill, I was in shock at how drastically more expensive they were compared to my prior energy company. I call in, upset as anyone would be, and request them to break down my bill so I can understand what exactly was so expensive.

Turns out that I was paying premium prices for this green energy that was not properly explained when I was kind enough to let this exhaustive stranger into my home. I did not realize that I would be locked into a multi-year contract where the only escape is to PAY OUT the remainder of it. I do not have that kind of money at one time as I have to pay off loans from taking two science degrees to try to better my career. I feel robbed every single month and that bill is just a painful reminder that there is no way out.

To top it all off, I get a call from one of their snarky representatives that I had an outstanding bill of over $300 asking me when I was going to pay it. Funny part of the story is I paid the full amount of my last bill 4 days ago. The price they were accusing me of not paying was the paid bill PLUS next month's statement which I have yet to receive! Here I thought I was getting the opportunity of a lifetime working for Just Energy, whom seems to promise that even the average employee will make 50,000 a year and that all you’re doing is protecting people, gas price at $5.99 per mcf or 59.9 cents per ccf (this was the rate they offered at the time I was employed). It seemed like I could make good money helping people out as well when actuality I was three days in and on my first day one door I knocked on had a gentleman who was not happy to answer the door, to see a just energy sales rep at his door. I told him it was my first day and he said I should make it my last and that what I was doing was a scam.

After three days of working at the company and knocking doors for ten hours a day (expected to knock 250 doors a day and average employee does 15-25 deals a week or already that's what was said in orientation) I got one deal. So then I began to research the just energy name and found CBS 2 in Chicago had even done a special report in 2011 about how the company changed their name but were still involved in same deceptive tactics.

They say your price will be protected but the rate they protect you at (5.99) is usually higher already than the market price for gas in your area from your provider (5.04 currently). Now you become scared that the rates will exceed 5.99 but in the five years ahead they most likely will not. Then they are supposed to say “Congratulations you also qualify to ‘go green’ for an additional $2 per mcf/.20 per ccf,” when in actuality the best reps (the ones that make the most deals and money) say “Congratulations you'll also be going green today for an extra $2." Notice the "per unit" is conveniently missing and now you aren't told you qualify, you're TOLD that you’re going green. They check the box and hand it to you to sign and after having it explained you feel confident that everything is understood when it is not and you are being lied to the moment you open your door.

If you work here, quit now unless you enjoy screwing people over for a living and wasting people's time. So it ends up being 7.99 per mcf plus. And you can bet they will charge that full 7.99 price like they did me as they signed me up six months prior to my job search and I would have never known had I not had the employment opportunity presented to me at the time that it was. I decided to quit and canceled because I can't just go around ** people just to make a buck.

There is a review on here praising Just Energy on how they saved money on a variable rate and how they took their kids on a vacation with their savings. I am here to tell you that it is a lie. Just Energy in OHIO is rated the 2nd worst company to do business with. They have changed their name 5 times, robbed 4 old woman, been busted with drugs in their cars, and paid over 24 million in fines to the state for questionable practices. Does this sound like a good company to you?

My grandmother signed up with Just Energy about 6 months ago. She had just moved to Ohio and was excited when someone told her she could save money on her energy bill (Which by the way they are not allowed to tell you that you will save money, it is against PUCO regulations). After she signed up the first month was nice. She saved about 15 dollars on her bill. When she got her next bill is when the trouble started. Her rate went from .0589 on her electric to .0114930 almost double, and her gas went from .54 per CCF to 1.10 per CCF. Her bill went from 102.5 to 247.66. Does this sound like a good company to you?

They scam you by saving you money on your first month and they pray you don't look at your bill and they screw you. The same person who praised them on here said that her variable rate went down in the summer but there are thousands of reviews in Ohio of the rates skyrocketing in the summer as well. Do your research guy, and to cancel. I waited on hold for 2 hours and when I finally got through to someone they did not speak English so I hung up. I eventually just helped her sign up with another company and they canceled them off her bill after they called her 30 times trying to get her to stay with them. The company she is with now seems okay, the rates are at least lower and have been for the last 4 months. DON'T GET SUCKED IN BY THESE SCAM ARTISTS, ASK TO SEE THEIR PERMITS, WHICH THEY WILL TELL YOU THEIR MANAGER HAS, BUT LAW REQUIRES THEM TO CARRY THEM AT ALL TIMES. I don't understand why people say it's a scam... Or that down communities are a no soliciting community and that you will call the cops? First off the company had been around for over 20 years. Secondly every city the visit they have a business license, which the board of the city council approves. Feel free to ask to see their license. There's no such thing as a no soliciting community unless it's posted on every door (then they won't even knock, unless they didn't see the sign because of poor placement). Every company does door to door. Telus too. Sadly there is no database for any electricity company, to show who has been where and when. People always move in and out. They are just doing their job. It's not a rip off.

Admin fees are dropped to one. Transaction fees are completely taken off. Rates are protected with the blend and extend. So if the rates ever drop you drop too. You move they move it for free. You move out of province or country it's canceled for free. There's no deposit or extra fees. They offer green options. They do verification calls to protect both customer and employee. They don't go around like direct energy saying they are giving you and upgrade. When really direct gives you a new contract with a free thermostat. To make it sound all good. But then don't mention that your gas is floating and both electricity and gas has 0.99-2.00$ transaction fees. That's and extra $20-40$ a month. And direct energy has lost their license before too. Direct goes around telling you that you will save X amount of money per bill (which is illegal).

Just Energy is amazing. The company follows all guild lines to protect customers. Their customer service is amazing and based in Canada, not in a third world country that doesn't speak a lick of English. Their rates are great! No transaction fees!!! I can't understand how some people say well it's only going to save me $300 a year. I'd rather stay on floating.... And people... Do you think electrify and hydro will go up in the next 5 years?? Then protect your rates. Not fix or lock. Protect so they can drop down in the summer as well. With the money we saved on Just Energy we put aside and saved, took our kids on a vacation to the Cuba. That's 2.5-3 years on just energy for 6 people. That's a free vacation for just protecting your rates. Money adds up! If you don't want them coming to your house put a no splicing sign up. It makes their day a lot nicer. Trust me. They don't want to be speaking to bitchy nasty people who slam doors on them. They are doing their job like you...

Off of Merchants street in the North Winton Neighborhoods, I was approached on a Friday November 21, around 6 pm by two young ladies that asked if they could come in to talk about my Rochester gas and electric bill. They had badges on and expressed they have been asked to reach me on behalf of RG&E. I let them in and a young lady by the name of Carli **, contractor number **, with Just Energy, lead the conversation with an aggressive sales pitch. She had asked me if I wanted to save money on my gas and electric, and literally told me everyone she has talked to in my neighborhood wants to save money and had a laugh about it. She then very persistently badgered me about seeing my RG&E bill, which reluctantly brought out on my phone.

After seeing my account, she pointed out that my market rates are variable, and go up and down based on the market demand. She said she was sent by RG&E to lock my rates into a fixed rate and let me know that she is with an Ekso provider that can help me save this money. She promised me savings, and said I would be locked for three years. She quoted my natural gas at .56 therm/ccf and my electric at 9.6 kWh. In this economy where I am counting every penny, I just so happened to know my average therm/ccf and kWh from calculating my monthly bills from October 2013-2014. My average all last year therm/ccf came to .4875 for gas and 6.99 kWh for electricity.

With this knowledge I said, “Why would I want your higher rates?” and she really got aggressive and told me because I have no control over the markets and that I have to have control. I was taken aback entirely by the exchange and asked how long she was with her company, she told me a year. I asked how long the business has been around and her colleague said a year but at the same time Carli said seven years. At this point I was confused, disoriented, and was getting the scam vibe. I asked them if they could leave a contract with me and they refused. After I said that's unprofessional, they disagreed and told me it’s quite practical.

I strongly warn anyone who is in contact with Just Energy to do their homework before they sign any paper work. They were third party, story telling me about how they have already signed up four families on my street and I wish I could know which households they were because I would strongly urge them to google just energy scam.

So I told her to forget about it, I didn't want anything, that she had rude customer service.

SO I worked for Just Energy and it almost completely ruined my life. I worked going door to door switching peoples electricity for a regional named Ryan, who was a great boss and things were running great for about the first 5 months of 2013 and then he got fired...like so many people do..and a new boss took over. And then things changed, all the offices owned by Legacy Distribution (Corpus, DFW, McAllen, Westchase) started taking money from their employees. People's money are dependent on deals signed and deals show up constantly as "pending" and "cancelled" and "image missing", but when I called back my customers or even stopped back at a customers house after their first billing period..I had several people tell me, no I did not cancel. A few were straight up like yeah bro ** JE, and I don't blame you with their high ** rates, but I had people show me their first bill.

A month later, 31 days of service and kilowatt usage. And I didn't get paid for it 2 weeks ago. WTF. And every spring, the leaders and high corporate people all go on a company wise trip to the people who cheat/lie/** enough **/kiss enough ** to places in the world. April 2014, was Hawaii, April 2013 was Dominican Republic, etc. And the number of pending deals SKYROCKETS at this point. The office went from 60+ agents and 4 fully functional talented close-knit crews who all together yelled "I LOVE MY ** JOB!" at the end of a morning meeting to 6 people in an office, no teams and a busted down grey van with broken AC to ride around in. This is specifically the Corpus Christi office but all together the company ** peoples lives up. You don't get hourly wage or any definite money, no benefits, and you DON'T work for Just Energy. You're an independent contractor affiliated with Just Energy. It's at least 66 hours a week showing up 10-11 Mon-Sat and not getting back in bed till 10-11pm, pressured to work Sun, fast food EVERYDAY no restaurants and walking around for 9-10 hours, sometimes in the middle of nowhere, no stores or NOTHING.

And if you did not work those hours and sign your name on a clipboard before 11am, you will have 3 strikes and get fired. Regardless. And OH YEAH, ha ha. The road trips! At the end of the month for the last week, you have to go to a city upstate in Texas and work relentlessly on what's called a "push week" and work 9am-10pm Mon-Sat. You share a bed with someone you don't know. You eat fast food and get very little sleep all week and you have to put $200+ at the beginning to pay for the hotel stay and gas and food. And the van you take up there is nasty and old and real creeper looking. Women get left out in dangerous areas by themselves, dogs attack workers, it gets pitch black and you have to go hours without eating, with your last meal being some greasy cheeseburger.

A man died once upstate in a company vehicle because of a blow out, and personally it cost me my car, relationship, and dog before I was just completely done. I was one of the last ones to leave, but this company took a lot from the people around me and I watched people just crumble because they were waiting for the money to come back, if it all, and it didn't. People are tired of having their doors knocked. Just Energy has a BAD rep, and the market is burnt out, there's no more money to be made unless they take a break for a while or lower their damn rate!! The ** is ridiculous. Either way..NEVER EVER work for Just Energy. Or get electricity with them. It ruins people's lives either way.

I worked for Just Energy. First, they said that I'd get paid for training. Then after a few weeks, they claim I have to get 50 people to sign up for Just Energy first. I walked from door to door trying to get people to sign applications for over 100 hours and got 6 people to sign up. They had told me I'd get at least $50 for each beforehand and it depends on how much energy they use, how many 1,000 therms a year, as to how much I'd make. Of course we have no control over that. We don't have any control over the fact that people don't like people knocking on their doors in person with all the crime and stuff going on nowadays. Most of the people at home don't even answer their doors.

The ones who do don't want anything to do with you because they've been ripped off too many times. And the others don't think that they'll ever have to pay nymex plus 59 cents/therm and there isn't any savings unless the gas prices go over 59 centers a therm and if gas prices raised it would be the nymex that raised. Therefore, no one believes there is savings. I got 6 people to sign up but I only got paid for 2 with one pending still. They said they'd pay me at least $50 each and they only paid me $62 for two and denied me three because evidently people haven't paid their bills often enough to the gas company or maybe Just Energy probably has hidden fees that they didn't want to pay.

I made only $62 in over 100 hours, that's less than 62 cents/hour and there's a law in this country that says that companies have to pay $7.25 minimum wage/hour when I got paid only 62 cents/hour. It took 100 hours and four weeks to make this $62. Of course I cannot afford to work for that low of pay until I get twenty to get paid the $250 orientation that I was promised I'd get paid and of course when they promised me I'd get paid for orientation they didn't tell me I had to get 20 people to sign applications first. They are ripping employees off right and left, another lady said her friend didn't get paid. Also, I started March 30th and I didn't get paid, the only $62 I got paid till May 13th, which is over 6 weeks later. No other company takes this long to pay someone.

I'm alerting everyone about this so that they may be able to read this and know not to work for Just Energy. They do have 27 people working there now, but they have a class of 12 to 20 new people it looks like every week, so as many as 20 of those people may be the brand new people who haven't figured it out yet cause they haven't been there long enough. Also, in the past year, with all their classes of 12 to 20 new people a week, they only have those few people who have gotten lucky enough to make some money. It's all luck here. The only good thing about this is losing weight from walking.

I am a current employee at JE in one of the call centers. Daily I get calls from customers with higher than high rates. Sometimes I just want to cancel customers account for them when I pull up the accounts and see their rates. But a few of things that I have realized and should bring to the light.

Number 1: Yes. When you sign the contract 70-80% of the reps use shady tactics and 10 times out of 10, the rates are higher than most can even manage. But honestly from a consumer perspective the biggest thing is if you know or feel when you talk to the rep that visits that what they are offering or how they're offering it doesn't seem right, DON'T SIGN UP!!!! We get countless calls of people who call to cancel after the rep leaves to cancel their account because they felt they were "pressured" or just "didn't want to say no". Honestly speaking (Excuse my French) ** THAT!!!! Don't waste time signing and calling something because you want to be "nice" or you feel "pressured" into it. That's really annoying...for everyone.

Number 1.5: If you have any type of thought process, then don't even open the door. They approach you while you're walking in the house, tell them to kick rocks. It's just that simple. They may be mad, but at least you won't set yourself up for a possible bad experience later.

Number 2: In some cases, if you call in and speak with a rep that is not rude and willing to explain and work with you, then listen. Yes. Some reps are beyond incompetent but in most cases we are working with what we're given. In some cases, the rates that we have available are VERY good. In other cases, they are horse **. PLEASE do not call in and take out your aggressions against the company on the rep you speak with because yes, we work for the company but in most cases we do not share the same views as the company. In most cases we're just there to get a check.

Number 3: When you call in to cancel, the processing for it is not up to JE. Your utility company ultimately determines when the account is closed. They can process the cancellation on their end whenever they feel like it. So honestly, when you hear 1-2 billing cycles, that's just the time frame we're given. On the other hand, and once again, YES, there are incompetent reps that work for the company and do not cancel the account when you request but that does not happen often. If we do not cancel accounts, that is cause for potential termination. Do we want to get fired for not closing your account... HELL NO. All in all, like I stated before, We work with what we're given and we're just doing our jobs the way were told so we don't get fired.

On the other hand, like I stated previously, you feel like it's a scam when you're visited, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. In all actuality, don't even show them your bill. Or you can take a step further and NOT OPEN THE DOOR or entertain what they are trying to pitch. But the biggest thing in all is YES, 60-70% of the time, what they are trying to sell you is **, but take the reviews and horror stories with a grain of salt because it is 50/50. The rep offered and they signed so all in all you really set yourself up for failure. MAYBE something happen where something goes wrong or something is shady, but everybody does not fall into a "SCAM".

But on the same hand, if you decide to call to cancel, make sure you do 2 things. Explain your issues in full and use a respectable tone because you would not want someone to call and yell at you for something that is not your fault. Just remember you have to give respect to get it. Secondly, do your research beforehand and ask questions because in some cases, what a rep is offering you over the phone could be a HUGE savings for you (we're not supposed to use the word "savings").

After this, it was a nightmare. They took about 30 minutes to set up my account and recorded answers to questions which mostly I did not understand. At the end, I became suspicious as the name "Energy" came up, so I asked them "Isn't this National Grid?" The guy acted smart and said, "Utility is with National Grid and Just Energy is the supply portion." I asked him what that meant. He kept saying everything is with National Grid. Then, I got an email that says I signed up a 3-year contract with Just Energy at a fixed price. In the email, it is mentioned attached is a cancellation form, where in fact there is no cancellation form and no procedure how to cancel.

When I called to cancel the contract they could not pull up the account. The deceptive practice starts by misuse of National Grid name on Google search and then sales people who are trained how to mislead the customers. And finally, they make it difficult to cancel the contract, which unknowingly gets enforced by vague and inaudible recording of conversation for a commitment.

She said it would be answering phones. I agreed to Monday at 1pm. However, after checking out the reviews from others and reading it is all door to door sales, there is no phone room, I am not going to the interview. I am in the process of looking for employment but I do not want part of any scam. I want a job to pay my bills not to scam others.

Oh and also their promise of lower rates is a lie, their gas rate is double what my local company charges, and 50% more for electric. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Many people don't know that there are many gas suppliers out there. DTE, Consumers, MGU, Semco, they are all your utilities. They buy their gas from the open market which is Just Energy & Santana among others. Just Energy is actually the largest gas supplier in North America which originated in Canada. They are now a billion dollar company and are going international. There's one on London now. Anyways, the utilities only get their gas at a 1-month supply. Just Energy gets theirs at a 5-year supply & Santana gets theirs at a 1year supply. That's how they can offer you a cheaper rate. You get whatever the rate was at the time they bought their gas.

Just Energy doesn't call people. They just go through a neighborhood a million times. I only worked for them for 2 months and I quit because I kept getting sick from working in a blizzard. We had to walk for eight hours every day except Sundays, even if the temp was below 0 or if there was a blizzard. No weather condition was supposed to stop us. I even had to walk in a thunderstorm in February. I keep getting pneumonia. I tried calling in one time but they wouldn't let me. The boss told me to come in & he gave me medicine. If we had to go to the bathroom, we had to beg our crew leader to come and take us or use a customer's or walk a mile to find one or pee in the woods if there were woods around.

We didn't have lunch breaks either. We had snacks and drinks on us that we had to get beforehand. It's not s scam; it's all legit. These are just some of the tactics that we were taught to use to get your gas bill. We only got paid on commission. Our pay check depended on getting your bill. Also, walking in the blizzard made us want your bill even more, especially if we could step inside to get warm for a couple of minutes. We benefit by you signing up with us because that's how you tell your utility company that you want your gas to come from us so your utility would have to buy the gas directly from us instead of any other gas supplier off the open market.

In exchange, we offer a discount & a little cheaper rate. So the contract is not only with the customer. It mandates your utility to give you our gas. You could be getting our gas anyways but the contract says that they have to get it from us. I hope this helps. I know it must be annoying. I hated the feeling of being annoying. Just don't kill the messenger. We are out there trying to do our job. We are just doing what we are told to do. Just be a little nicer. The problems l have are with the company itself.

I personally felt bad about the job because I felt like a pest. If I had seen that someone was just getting home or shoveling snow, I skipped them. I hated bothering people. But they set it up to where we get recognized by how many deals we get. We get cash prizes & points to buy prizes. It wasn't just the commission. It was the recognition. Based on how many deals we got, we got an all expense trip paid every year. Last year, it was London. This year, it's Hawaii. So I guess, you would say our lives depended on getting your gas bill.

We had a representative from the company formerly known as US Energy Savings come to my office in 2007 and had talked a song and dance and said commodity prices through them would be fixed and that prices will change but theirs would stay the same. This is true. Prices over the next 3.5 years through our utility company never came close to what now Just Energy was charging me. In this most recent year, we were being charged 73.9 cents per therm. In the past year, our utility company was anywhere from 32.6-50.1 cents per therm. That's 47%-126% more than what the utility company would have been charging.

This is all about scaring and scamming the populous and terrible for all of us. If you read this review, roll the dice and put the money back in your pocket. The energy companies are not in business to lose money. Shame on me for thinking I'd get ahead. All said and done, I have lost thousands of dollars on overpaying for my natural gas service on the fixed cost plan. The gas utilities never came close to exceeding the fixed pricing Just Energy used. To top it all off, they didn't require me to actively renew my 5-year contract and sent their renewal notice in something that appeared to be junk mail and I missed it. Not worth the headache.

If I get a bill from DTE, I expect that the bills are correct with meter numbers and the amount of energy I truly use. This apartment building has been here for a long time. I lived down the street for 30 years. These meters have been here for a very long time. There should be absolutely nothing wrong with these meters. There is a start number and a stop number for every meter and every meter has a number.

What I believe is Apartment #3, Mr. ** was the only tenant in this 3 unit building for the longest. And had the only convent meters or was only ones that worked and he (the meter reader) applied Mr. ** meter numbers to the Apt. 1 and Apt. 2. And now in the basement gets a $150.00 bill. That is how I got Mr. ** meter numbers on my bills. I don't know how the readers work. But I'm a computer person and all this smells funny. If I don't get things straight soon, I will cut all the wires going into the house and remove all readers from the outside of the house. Then they will get a crew out here and get these meters and apts. numbers and bills numbers straight. I'm not afraid to go to jail.

I'm a 64 year old disabled Vet. And I don't need these problems right now. I live on a fixed income and need to know exactly how many my bills are. Not some guess-a-ment or some erroneous number you make up. Now I get a bill for $257.19 and on 2/8/2012 and still them meter numbers are wrong. This is the last straw. On this bill, I get a third meter number they want me to pay Number **. I have all of their bills to prove everything I am saying.

Less count them: #1 when I moved in my gas meter number was **, same meter as Mr. ** in Apt.3 (2 months on this meter) unknowingly paid for this meter numbers since it was on my bill, but Mr. ** paid for that meter too. I filed complaint, large bill for heating one room. I thought someone steeling my gas. #2 told they replaced my meter with ** (1 month on this meter), #3 sent new bill dated 2/8/2012 with a new meter number ** with the same dates as meter #1 that I already paid (3 months on this one).

I must be popular to get 3 gas meters in 3 months. Wonder if I set a record? I will pay nothing until these meters are correct. They screwed up. Should I tell Mr. ** in Apartment 3 that he has been paying the wrong amount for years? I got his bill in my hand and his meter numbers are the same as mine. They threaten him with a shut off if he didn't pay this erroneous bill. When I called and had the service turn on, they should have came out and do their job. Like they said they did and then lied to me by giving me his service #** on the phone and told me everything was ok and I could move in. I'm sending copies of Mr. ** and my bills so you can see for yourself. It's only the gas meters.

They tried to keep my business and I told them that the only way I would stay was if they left my rate at the $0.58 per therm that I had been paying for the previous 12 months, and only for a 12-month contract, not a 60-month contract. My name is Angela ** This incident begin when my name was Angela **. I'm not sure of the exact date, but it must have been 8-9 years ago. I was at work, and my children's father, Charles who resided in Harvey, IL was at my home in Phoenix, IL babysitting our youngest daughter when one of the representatives came to my door. All of my bills were and always have been in my name including my Nicor gas bill. By his signing his name to the document in which they provided, that action now contracted me for the next seven years of having them as a gas source provider. Since the first time I saw US Energy itemized on my monthly bill, I have complained that I never gave authorization for this to take place.

I have been told over the years that since a person that was in my house at the time signed the document, I had to pay. In March 2007, I moved from the house in Phoenix, IL and had all of my services simply transferred to my new residence in Harvey, IL, which in fact, included US Energy on my Nicor bill. When I had to be placed on a budget, I in turn had to also contact US Energy. On speaking to a representative, I agreed to be set on a month budget, complete the contract, and not renew their services. I even had to pay an addition amount of $60 per month in order for this to be agreed upon. Soon, an additional bill with the name of Charles ** started coming to my address with my account number on it. I contacted US Energy again, and told them that there was no Charles **. They in turn argued with me and said that he must have been my husband which is ridiculous and very untrue, and for me to keep with the payment arrangement until my account is complete.

According to Nicor Gas, the last payment to US Energy which was itemized on my bill was paid February 11, 2009. To my knowledge, I was done with US Energy. A few months later, I myself then agreed to have Nicor Solutions as my natural gas provider. Knowing that this was paid, I've never heard anything else or received anymore bills from US Energy up until yesterday, May 12, 2010. I received a collections letter stating that I never paid the exact same amount that I was paying the additional monies for on a budget for I believe 6 months, and that no, there was no record of me paying since October 2008. This is very alarming to me since I paid this account in full and I never signed up for or authorized to have their services in the first place.

I am looking for help and would like to share some information about U.S. Energy. I, too, was led to believe that I would receive quite a bit of savings if I signed on with this company and did so because of my economic situation in the hopes of saving some money over winter on home heating costs. Not only did that not happen, but U.S. Energy, or Just Energy (their new name) decided to cancel my contract because "they had not received a payment from me in three months," according to a customer service rep. However, the rep did admit that Nicor may not have forwarded my payments to them in a timely manner thus, their reasoning for canceling my contract.

This is where the fun begins for me. Now, per their "records and contract," I defaulted and therefore owe U.S. Energy/Just Energy a $75 per month service fee onto a $300.00 plus gas bill. When I inquired about this the second week of July (I finally received a bill), to my surprise, it was for $632. I was told that of "this amount due, $332.00 was for gas used and the remainder was a $75 a month fee for breaking my contract." I asked to speak with a manager and was told that it is what it is and that if I wanted, I could dispute it but, it would probably not change it. I said I wanted to dispute it and the manager said she would submit my billing dispute request to customer service and that I would receive a notice per their decision by mail.

Since then, I have heard nothing from their "customer service dispute department", continue to receive phone calls from this company demanding their payment and have been told that they will put this on my credit report. I am also told very rudely that I have to follow up on this and that it is my job to call their dispute department (for which I consistently receive a different phone number, i.e.,1-866-587-8675 which is not a U.S Energy/Just Energy phone number) and have now been told that my bill is $685, but they do not know where the additional fee of $52 came from but are certain that it was an overlooked from the last billing cycle per a Miss **.

I returned their phone calls and spoke with this company two times so far this month and still cannot get this matter resolved. All I do know is that they have plenty of non-customer service phone numbers, continue to harass me and will not resolve this matter. I am a new homeowner, 2 years, and the gas in itself is making my home unaffordable to me.

US Energy Savings Corp made me sign a contract assuring me that I will save lots of money with their company since gas prices are always going up. However, there will always be a lower price on gas (as they were when they walked in my door). When I saw it was a scam, as the price never went down and I was paying more than double on gas, I then called US Energy Savings and they said I cannot get out of the contract and that the salesman lied to me that they will always be cheaper than my current provider at that time. Please help. I want to get out of this contract.

We signed a contract without a date when the salesman came around the week of December - January 1, 2006. He had identification on his ID that said Nicor. He also said that he could not put a date on the contract, until he had our credit checked. We have been trying to call the company at 1-888-674-7847 and can never get through or leave a message. We have not received any notice about the settlement, and we would like to cancel our 5-year contract as of today, 7/24/2009. But we are unable to reach anyone at U.S. Energy Savings Corp. Nicor said that our service began on 1/20/09, the first time we contacted Nicor about the switch and since, they said 2/20/09. Please tell us how to get the paperwork done in time to meet the August 12 deadline for releasing us from the contract and any refunds due us per the lawsuit.

I called to find out why my bill says, “The average price you paid for electric service this month (excluding taxes): $0.162/kwh,” when I was told that I was going to pay $0.13.5/kwh. I also asked what the cancellation fee is because I'm planning to leave out of town and I need to prepare myself to how much I'm going to need. But Enalia was not able to tell me. She said she could not discuss it with me and I also asked that I wanted it to be written and mailed to me. And now I'm going to wait for the letter telling and explaining to me what the early termination fee is since she could not tell me over the phone. For what reason, I don't know why she couldn't say. I am very unhappy with this company. If you can help, please e-mail me. It's the best way to get in touch with me. If you need to talk to me, leave a message on my phone or e- mail and I will get in touch with you.

Me and my fiancee were at home one August day when we had a visit by someone from U.S. Energy Savings and as he said "was in the neighborhood conducting a survey making sure that we are not being over charged by our gas and electric company" and asked to see a current bill. So we both thought that this was some govt. official and we did as he asked. Because her name was on the bills, he only spoke to Steph. He had her sign some paper and talk to someone on the phone that she didn’t understand because he didn’t speak English. So when the man on the phone asked her do you understand, Steph said no, but Bill who was here said don’t worry just say yes.

Well some months later, while I was examining our electric bill, I noticed that National Grid was not our company any more but U.S. Energy Savings. So, I called National Grid and found out that when my fiancee signed that paper and said yes on the phone, she was changing providers. So, when we called U.S. Energy to tell them we didn’t want to keep them because we found out that they were charging way more than any other provider, they informed us that we had signed a 5 yr contract (even though we were not told that) and if we went back to our old provider we had to pay a very high cancellation fee.

In the end, we did switch back to National Grid and did not pay the fees. Now, we get phone calls every day from a collection agency telling us we owe them. Help!

I contacted U.S. Energy Savings Corps about my bill which is constantly getting higher each month. I signed up for the budget plan back in 2002 with North Shore Gas. My husband was told by the U.S. Energy sales rep. that we would still be on the budget plan. However, when I contacted the billing representative regarding the bill and the budget plan she said that U.S. Energy gets a small portion of my bill each month and that I should contact North Shore Gas to ask why they are charging me so much. I contacted North Shore, the representative their told me that they get the smaller amount of the bill. Ultimately neither would answer my question regarding the increased amount on the bill. The dollar amounts on the bill do not add up the amount that is being requested due. I explained that the bill is usually between $100 - $174 a month. When I received the new bill it was double the original. We work during the day and the thermostat is set to 68 degrees.

In June 2008, when natural gas prices spiked very high, I was visited by a high-pressure sales team from US Energy Savings Corp. and signed a 5-year fixed price natural gas contract. The sales team (Kathryn ** and her supervisor) neglected to inform me of certain monthly charges and also gave misleading information about changing the contract. Specifically, I am now charged Indiana sales tax for my monthly gas usage (supply), which my local utility (NIPSCO) does not charge. US Energy never informed me I would be charged extra sales tax above and beyond the tax already charged for storage and delivery. The US Energy salespeople also misinformed me about how their Blend and Extend contract extension works, making it seem like a much better option than it actually is in the fine print. For instance, they told me that if their offered price went lower, I could get that price by adding only 1 year onto my contract. However, the fine print says the original contract is replaced by a whole new 5-year contract.

Afraid I was scammed by signing a paper about keeping my gas bill low today, 1-27-09. I am mailing them a cancellation today and hope they honor it since it says I have three days to do so. I thought they were with Peoples Gas and now I am afraid I have been scammed. I just want to make a note that I did cancel in case they don't honor it.

A salesman came to my door selling cheaper electric and gas service, but ASSURED me that I would get lower prices than with Con Edison, my current utilities provider. I was also assured that my bill would still go through them and that my rates would just be lower than with them. I saw on the news the other evening that this was just a scam, and that I possibly could receive TWO bils for service.

I have contacted Con Edison and they have put a block on the service from USEC, and am now registering a complaint with you in hopes of being prtected from having to pay any charges to them. I am 80 years old, and on a fixed income, and certainly cannot afford to pay two bills for my utilities. From what I understand these salesmen were all over my neighborhood, especially preying upon myself and my other snior citizen neighbors.

An idependant contractor , Jeff H. , convinced my wife to sign a contract for natural gas delivery. The sales talk he gave her focused on the rising cost of natural gas and benefits of locking in a rate now. No comparisons were offered nor were actual rates or predictions of prices ever talked about. We now have gas supplied at $1.19 per therm..

The first two months cost for our natural gas from U.S.Energy Corp. was $436.90. The prior 12 months with our previous supplier totaled $569.31 . We are obviuosly being overcharged in the current market and can only opt out with a $400 termination fee.
