The worst customer service ever!! On a recent trip across the country. I called the hotel that I booked through Booking.com midway through my trip to let them know about my late arrival only to find out that they had no record of my reservation, which had been made and paid for in full two weeks prior on Booking.com.. They also advised me they had no rooms and they couldn’t help me.. I was forced to quickly book another hotel directly, which ended up being twice as much. I immediately called Booking.com and they assured me they would pay the difference and take care of it within 24 hours. Three weeks later and a half a dozen emails a half a dozen direct messages to Booking.com and still no refund on the difference that was promised.
Stay away from Booking.com. You will save more money booking direct with a hotel sign up for their rewards but do not use Booking.com. They can’t confirm even if you’ve paid in full and have a confirmation number that your reservation will be available when you arrive to your destination.. I don’t know how this is even legal. I personally will be doing everything I can to get the word out. This is not a reputable company. It’s a scam. Stay away.!!

This was my first & last time booking ANYTHING with this horrific excuse for a business. I made the mistake of using Booking.com to book a flight from New York to London, thinking it would be easier. The only positive Booking.com has is that it is an okay tool to use to compile a quick catalog for you to review and compare a multitude of offers, BUT once you find what you want to book, BOOK DIRECT WITH THAT PLACE OR COMPANY. You gain NOTHING from utilizing a third party booking service other than introducing a middle man that is solely responsible for everything regarding whatever it is you just booked. Once you decide to book through Booking.com you no longer have any real control over your booking, you MUST go through Booking.com for EVERYTHING and if ANYTHING needs to be changed you MUST WAIT for Booking.com to get with the airline/hotel etc. in order to have it fixed.
My last name was not correct on my passenger ticket - meaning it did not match my passport and I would not be able to board my flight unless it was corrected! I contacted the airline directly, assuming that was be the fastest remedy, and was told since I booked through a third party (Booking.com), they HAD to seek the correction, had I booked direct with the airline myself, they could have fixed the issue right then and there! After, informing a rep from Booking.com and filing the correction to be made, I had not received an update for days. I followed up only to be told they were working on it and they needed to wait to hear back from the airline. I waited another week and nothing, I spoke to various chat representatives (all from either China or India and spoke broken English), called multiple times, and was repeatedly told I must wait to hear back from them and they were still waiting for the airline.
I called the airline AGAIN hoping to be able to do something, anything, because my flight date was approaching and was told Booking.com can call them and it can be corrected easily. I went back to Booking.com and gave them the information and phone number, that was days ago and I AM STILL WAITING ON ON UPDATE, my flight is in just over 2 weeks and as it stands, my ticket will not work because my name on the booking doesn't match my passport and what SHOULD be a simple fix, according to the airline, is something Booking.com has been unable to do ANYTHING on for over 2 weeks. They seem to have no urgency and no interest in CALLING the airline to get this problem solved. I have legitimately spent around 6 hours total on chat conversations and phone calls with what must be 30+ agents so far trying to get something to progress on a simple name change request.
Eventually, I asked to cancel the booking and to re-book it so they could spell my name correctly this time but was told they can't, the ticket isn't refundable and they can't just change it over to a new booking. I could cancel but would not receive any refund. I have no idea if I am going to be able to make my flight without sucking it up and buying an entirely new ticket direct with the airline, and kissing the $800 spent on the initial ticket with Booking.com goodbye. I am absolutely distraught about this and I truly hope that you reconsider investing any time or money into this truly USELESS "service".

They are not very friendly, nor do they try to resolve issues. They gave inaccurate description of the room I reserved both by working and their images of the room. Then when I called customer service they tried to blame it on the hotel and got all catty with them over the phone. They hung up on me, the 2nd person I talked to said “obviously you have chosen to take the hotel's side” like really?

Booked 2 months at one location and 2 more months at different location total. Expected to see some savings since I was booking solid stays a week at a time. Price kept rising so at first location I was able to book through Hotel directly and save money. Booked second location and price jumped approximately $150 within 3 weeks and kept climbing until switching to competitor that saved me $150 for my week rate. Bottom line is savings noted in messages never took place and being loyal thinking they would discount or remain the same was ignorant. Trying to reach them to comment is not existent and page intended for comments has no way of starting a conversation. Very disappointed.

If I could give it a minus 1000 I would. Worse mobile app for landlords and online app not better either. Whoever designed the website must be stupid, as if he intentionally made it impossible for landlords. You have to keep signing in and because their stupid app does not work and is not user friendly at all, they ask you to download a "sister app" called Pulse to manage your listings.
So you have to use too apps, Booking and pulse and you cannot find anything you need and you keep switching between apps and they keep asking you to sing in again and then to verify again you are human and then all of sudden they tell you they locked you out for security and you update the password and go through the whole process of updating the password and then they tell you they cannot sign you in. I wasted hours on this stupid system. Customer service is a joke, they just have automated AI messages. Please boycott Booking until they create a friendly website and app like Airbnb or Expedia.

I was in Hamilton Ontario and searched a site to stay. Booking.com site showed me a stay for that location; however after I paid, then they sent a confirmation for the site in ‘New Zealand‘; I contacted them but they refused to refund. The manager in New Zealand when I called him agreed not to charge as booking.com had done this before to people in Canada; however he said the money was still with booking.com. I called again to tell them the site agreed not to charge, but booking.com still refused to refund. Don’t book with these people - their site is designed to defraud.

I have booked two nights for a group of 4, myself / wife and two kids, I did not arrive with them on the same day, the hotel refused to let them check-in due to their name not on the booking... I attempted to contact Booking.com who claims 24-hour service. Ironically all way of the contact method is true, they are just a fake icon. Booking.com overcharged me approximately $100 for a hotel booking. I contacted them immediately, within the same hour to get a refund. They advised me to contact the hotel. The hotel said they don’t control the pricing. Booking.com never followed up with me - nothing. Not even a voucher. This company should be held accountable here. I think consumer law dictates a refund should be granted if contacted within 24 hours. Also, booked my flight.. accidentally misspelled my partner's name on the ticket. It’s been weeks of back and forth with booking.com and now that we are 4 days away from leaving I’m stressed due to the extremely poor customer service. Do not trust this company.

I ordered a new credit card and I called this no. 1 844 987 7103 to give information on my new credit card so I wouldn't have problems, as there was a change. The person on the phone named ROCK, made the changes, and at the end for no reason asked me to pay property tax of 298.63 euros extra adding to the original amount of 750 euros. I told him that this property tax is paid on site. He became very rude and kept saying that if I don't pay that amount now he would cancel my trip and I had to pay 300 dollars for cancelation. I told him that that reservation mentioned free cancellation. Then I became suspicious and I asked him if that was a scam?
Mrs. ** hung up on me and canceled my trip. I had to cancel my mastercard thinking that it was a scam. I used to use booking.com for all my trips but I just lost confidence in that company. Then, I went to see the reviews and confirmed my suspicions. Sadly I won't be using that company anymore because of lack of trust and very bad customer relations.

I was very concerned as it was not noted so I called international helpline. Spoke to lady called who said she could not find the hotel on the website or my email. This situation had caused me considerable inconvenience and stress, as I am now unsure whether my reservation even exists or not. I find it utterly unacceptable that I am facing such confusion and lack of support.

I booked a hotel 3-1-25. Within an hour went in to cancel, it booked me again. Said I was making reservations for same hotel same day. I went to cancel. They informed me I bought nonrefundable. That is not what I did. If you review my history with Booking I have never booked non refundable. I requested a waiver to policy and allow me to cancel both reservations on the same day 3-1-25. I did not hear back, 3-2-25 or 3-3-25. So I sent a message to the hotel under both reservations asking them to cancel and waive the fee. No response.
Today 3-4-25, I called Hilton asking for help since they are the overall company. They told me to call booking. So I did, I got nowhere with booking customer service. I was told to call the hotel directly. I did. They told me it was booking that was not allowing me to cancel both reservations with fees waived. I called booking back. Told them what the hotel said. They said they would try since I am a loyal member. Within minutes I got an email saying no waiver granted and blamed the hotel, I filed a complaint with BBB and found out Booking is not an accredited company with Better Business Bureau. Do not use booking, call the hotel directly if you want to book a reservation.

We tried two different Credit Cards with plenty limit on them and could not get past this. We did email correspondence to their customer service and their AI responses could not comprehend our issue. I am writing to express my deep disappointment with a recent car rental booking through this platform. My fiancé and I traveled to Orlando on February 22 to celebrate a milestone occasion, and unfortunately, what should have been a smooth process turned into an incredibly frustrating ordeal. Upon arrival at MCO Airport, I attempted to contact the number provided to coordinate pickup. The call kept disconnecting, forcing me to reach out via WhatsApp. A gentleman responded but was unable to locate my reservation. Even after picking us up, he still could not find our booking. This was extremely concerning and unprofessional.
When we arrived at the rental lot, I provided my driver’s license as requested. However, the representative immediately started discussing additional insurance costs. I informed him that I already had my own car insurance and that we were from Canada. Instead of acknowledging this, he rudely insisted that I must purchase insurance from an American provider, without any room for discussion. His dismissive attitude and insistence that "everything is in the terms and conditions" only added to my frustration.
I take the time to read fine print, but clear and honest communication is essential. The way this situation was handled felt misleading and unfair. After hours of unnecessary delays and additional expenses, I contacted Booking.com to express my dissatisfaction. The agent I spoke with attempted to reach the rental company but was unsuccessful. I was then told I would have to wait up to 28 days for a response, and if my complaint was approved, a refund would take another 5-7 days.
I find this timeline unacceptable. The burden of proving this situation should not fall entirely on me when there is clear evidence of a failure in service. This experience significantly impacted what was meant to be an important and celebratory occasion. I expect Booking.com to take responsibility for this matter and provide a resolution much sooner than the timeline given.

I’ve just learned that reservations #1 & #2 are cancelled as a result of overbooking. I made these reservations last week, and there didn't seem to be overbooking at that time. Now I get some stupid email suggesting another place, five miles away, at EIGHT TIMES the original price. NO! Now, I have three other reservations in England in June, and I need to be confident that when I show up that they have not been cancelled due to overbooking.
In fact, this happened to us in Italy in September of 2023, the people we were traveling with had a nice place on the water in Lake Como, and it was cancelled two days prior to our arrival due to “Overbooking.” My friend spent two days on the phone, In Switzerland, trying to fix this, and Booking.com found us a place in some alley about a mile off the water in Como. Tl;dr - Not a reliable platform. Scammy hosts, customer service communication is terrible, Booking.com fails to deliver on their stated agreements and promises. S
Our company booked a property for a group meeting, paid for and confirmed. The host contacted us weeks later claiming a "glitch" and asking us initiate a cancelation, promising a refund (despite the booking being non-refundable). As this is a known scam (which could mean we don't get a refund, or at least the Host doesn't face a penalty), we forwarded this to Booking.com customer service, who told us "not to worry, we will take care of you" and promised to call us back within 48 hours with an update.
With no update from Booking.com - we eventually get an email that they did cancel the booking, and stated a refund would come in 7-12 days. However, we still need accommodation! I called and spent nearly an hour on hold with a Customer Service rep, who agreed they would help us find alternate lodging, and that Booking.com would cover any cost difference for another comparable property. With the customer service agent, we found a suitable property (which cost more, as fewer available properties were remaining), and while we had to still pay for the new property in full (while waiting 7-12 days for the previous refund to process) the rep said they would credit our Booking.com wallet which could be withdrawn to our bank account within 5 days. The Wallet indeed showed that credit as pending, and we got an email confirming the credit as well.
However, with no explanation or communication - I saw on our account the next day that the credit was cancelled. I called Customer Service, and they simply said the previous agent made a mistake, and that their finance team cancelled the credit. I politely requested it be reinstated as Booking.com had confirmed that credit, and I then acted on that confirmation by booking a new property. They again just apologized and said there as nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a Supervisor - and was just told "there is no Supervisor is available". I asked when they would have a Supervisor available who could remedy this - and was told "I'm sorry the previous agent made a mistake, but we will not reinstate the credit".
I've been 10+ year customer of Booking.com both personally and with my businesses, but no longer. Things happen, Hosts cancel, mistakes get made. But they repeatedly promised to remedy the situation, committed in writing to that solution, and then canceled that agreement with no update or alternative - leaving us out thousands of dollars.

However, I claim they have a responsibility to secure the hotels they offer as they provide with payment through their website, it's not only a search engine. My wife and I booked a vacation for January 13 to San Juan, Puerto Rico. We flew out of Boston. When we arrived at the location we found that it was no available any longer. The had no more availability. We found another location with no help from booking.com, after 5 hours .we are both in our 70s and still had our winter clothes on. Booking.com did nothing, nothing to help our situation. We had to go to 2 locations to stay or 10 days. I only hope this happens to one of their parents. The clincher was that they sent us an email expressing their excitement for us about the upcoming vacation. They didn’t care one bit that we were stranded from Boston in a parking lot.

Frustrating and Unreliable Booking Experience – Avoid at All Costs. I have had multiple frustrating experiences with Booking.com, but my most recent trip to Costa Rica on February 14, 2025, was the last straw. I booked a hotel through Booking.com, received a confirmation, and drove all the way to the property—only to find out it was completely sold out. Thinking it was an isolated incident, I booked another hotel through Booking.com, drove for hours, and upon arrival, discovered that it was also fully booked, despite receiving a confirmed reservation.
This is not the first time I’ve encountered this issue. Booking.com seems to confirm stays without properly verifying availability with hotels, leaving travelers stranded. To make matters worse, Booking.com often charges for these non-existent bookings, making it an exhausting and time-consuming process to obtain a refund—usually involving disputes with credit card companies.
Additionally, the lack of proper communication tools for travelers to cancel or modify reservations, particularly in certain countries, only adds to the frustration. A company as large as Booking.com should implement a system that verifies a hotel’s availability before confirming a booking. After repeated bad experiences, I will no longer be using Booking.com. I strongly advise other travelers to proceed with extreme caution—or better yet, book directly with hotels to avoid the stress, financial loss, and wasted time that comes with relying on Booking.com.

I booked it, my credit card was charged then my reservation was cancelled. The listing eventually disappeared. Booking.com has a support staff that speaks broken English, and I love that they keep saying "I hope you have a wonderful day" while they do nothing to resolve my loss. I'm not the only one, apparently Booking.com is one of the easiest booking sites for scammers to use. It's so frustrating, each time I call I start all over again describing my experience and hoping for a resolution. There is no escalation path, nothing.

Make no mistake, you are renting a bedroom inside someone's incredibly clean home. The refrigerator was full (not for our use), there were dirty dishes in the sink, and the much touted backyard had a large dog in it. The "grill" was filthy. The bathroom was full of shampoos and soaps, etc. for the owner's use. The bedroom consisted of a comfy king size bed, and dismal closet. There was absolutely no room to sit other than the bed. There was a dresser and a plastic 3-drawer organizer as a nightstand. The lock on the door could be easily opened with a little pressure. There was no private parking. Just street parking off of a busy street.
We called Booking.com because the description implied we would have the house to ourselves. We had planned on being able to cook and enjoy a relaxing evening after a day out. None of this was possible. Booking.com said they'd need to speak to the owners to get confirmation that what we said was true. We went to get some lunch and when we returned, the owners were home. We spoke to them and explained that we had two service dogs and needed a place where they could run around as we were planning on doing a lot of sightseeing. The husband said he understood and would make sure we got a complete refund. His wife got on the phone with booking.com (while we were there) to confirm they were waiving the non refundable payment of more than $600 we had paid. We left feeling confident the host would honor their promise, despite their obviously deceptive description of the property.
The next day, booking.com sent a message saying they couldn't do anything about our initial complaint because the homeowner never called them back. We decided to wait another day to give the homeowners (assumed) request to waive the non refundable charge time to process. When another day had passed without hearing anything, we reached out to booking.com again. They said they had no record of the owner contacting them. We explained the situation. Initially, booking.com said they couldn't do anything because we had canceled the reservation. When I pointed out that we had NOT canceled, they tried reaching the homeowner again, but got no answer. They told us they would send an email to the homeowner asking them to confirm they were waiving the non refundable payment.
I called the homeowner to let them know to check their email, but had to leave a message as there was no answer. I followed up with a text... That day, and the day after. To date, I have not heard from either the homeowner or booking.com. We had to cut our vacation short, and weren't able to do many of the things we had planned for our 29th anniversary because of this homeowner's deception and the complete failure of booking.com to help resolve this issue.

Every time, they ask for yet another document, a different format, a currency change, or they shift the blame onto the hotel—anything to delay the process. Now that they have everything they requested, they’ve simply stopped responding to my emails.
Their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. When I call, they pretend to understand and promise to help, but in reality, they are just dragging things out and avoiding the refund. Unacceptable!
Original Review: I DO NOT RECOMMEND BOOKING.COM TO ANYONE! I booked a stay at the Hampton Inn Dade City through Booking.com and canceled it 2–3 days before the free cancellation deadline. Despite this, I was charged over $200 because Booking.com failed to notify the hotel about my cancellation. On top of that, I was charged an additional $20 international transaction fee because my card is European.
Since then, I’ve been trying to get a refund, but both Booking.com and the hotel keep blaming each other. Even after providing proof of the charge, I was asked for a bank statement, which I sent. I clearly explained where my name was and what the amount represented, yet they acted as if they couldn’t understand it. Eventually, Booking.com claimed they would contact the hotel and allow five business days for a refund. I waited over a week—no email, no call. When I followed up, I was put on hold for 20 minutes, only to be hung up on after explaining the situation. I called again, waited another 30 minutes, explained everything once more—and was hung up on again.
Later, they told me the hotel rejected my bank statement because it was in euros instead of dollars. When I called the hotel directly, they confirmed they refused to refund me because Booking.com never informed them of the cancellation. I asked if they could speak to Booking.com, but they refused. It has now been over two weeks, and I’m stuck in an endless loop with no resolution. I’ve lost both my refund and an extra $20 due to Booking.com’s incompetence. Absolutely terrible service from both parties. I will never use Booking.com again!

When I could reach no one there by phone or email over a number of hours, I called Booking.com to complain and insist that I be permitted to cancel with a refund given their deceptive advertising of the accommodation. I was told that I could not without the accommodation agreeing to this. And was told that the “hotel” had 24-48 hours to respond to Booking.com‘s request for a refunded cancellation. The platform's system allowed me to book a hotel under the impression that I was getting a specific type facility. However, after making the payment, I received a confirmation for a completely different quality place with a similar name. This discrepancy was not only confusing but also felt deceptive. The switch was from a luxury resort to an AirB&B. In another instance, I booked a room for two people, but after the payment was processed, I received an email stating that the room only had a twin bed. The reservation details indicated that the room could accommodate up to three people, but Booking.com informed me that if I wanted a bed for two people, I would need to pay an additional $90. This was not only inconvenient but also felt like a bait-and-switch tactic.
Furthermore, I am concerned about the security and authenticity of Booking.com's listings. Overall, my experience with Booking.com has been marred by inconsistencies and what feels like misleading practices. Less than 24 hours later I wanted to change my round-trip flight to a couple of days earlier to extend my trip and was told by the Booking.com representative to call the airline instead. When I called the airline the lady told me she wasn’t allowed to change the tickets since I had purchased through a third party and that I would need to go through them in order to change it.
I called Booking.com again and after some time of going round and round in circles with them, they told me Booking.com couldn’t do anything about the ticket change because the flight tickets were actually booked by a different agency. After some research which took a lot of fine-print reading on my confirmation email I found out Gotogate is the agency that books the flights for booking.com. So then I called Gotogate, and of course, they couldn’t do anything for me (keep in mind this is all within 24 hours of purchasing my ticket).
They then told me they could do it for a fee of 500-some dollars, which I was able to get down to $300, at the end I decided not to do it — I felt absolutely terrible that they advertise easy cancellation and changes which really felt like a lie. I had been going in circles with them all morning (it really was an emotional rollercoaster, full of gaslighting and giving me the run around). A hour later, my partner decides to call Gotogate to see if he would have any luck, they immediately tell him they’ll do it for $400. They take all of his information (which feels very risky now).
We don’t hear back from them and don’t see any charges go through, when we call them a few days later to ask what happened with the flight changes they tell him they can’t change the tickets, but can do it for $2000.00! I can’t tell you how awful the experience was. I feel completely scammed. Not only do they falsely advertise the ease of using their services but their customer service is extremely shady, the Gotogate representative told me I was going to be blacklisted from a list of airlines if I went to the bank to dispute the charges — to me this is really unprofessional and is a red flag to question the legitimacy of the company.

One of the worst companies. A company I would never book with because of the stories I've heard. I called sixt and they said that they wouldn't refund me my money (3 different reps 3 long stories).
I TRIED to contact Booking.com and they sent me an email with a phone number, called the phone number and it keeps asking me for a pin number stating it was on the booking but there is no pin number. Now no one is responding to my emails and I can't talk to a rep without the imaginary pin. This can't be legal. I'm gonna file a report with the Better Business Bureau. DON'T EVER USE booking.com. This can happen to you.

I tried contacting Booking to get this error corrected to receive my confirmation but to no avail. The customer service takes you in circles and is a hassle to connect with. I tried a multitude of ways. Each way they suggested I contact them and nothing. Then I called a phone number I was given to call by customer service's email and was told that I don't even have a trip number or a phone number associated with my booking. AFTER THEY ALREADY TOOK THE $701.94 from my account. I sent a screenshot to customer service's email. No response yet. I wouldn't book with them again. I would not suggest anyone else to either. Cannot get a refund because they only allow 24 hours to cancel the trip. They don't help, and they don't make it easy to help yourself.

I booked a hotel in Dubai through your platform (booking **), but upon arrival on Monday, January 13, I found the property was at a completely different location than advertised. As a result, I was left stranded at 11 PM without accommodations, the night before an important business meeting on January 14. Despite contacting your toll-free line that evening, where your agent (Margarita) acknowledged the issue and assured me that my emergency hotel costs would be covered, I am now being informed that this reimbursement will not be honored.
This failure to fulfill your commitment is unacceptable. It highlights a lack of property verification and accountability on your platform, as well as poor customer service when resolving issues caused by your inaccuracies. I am now initiating a litigation through the European Online Dispute Resolution for Consumer Affairs to FORCE THEM to do what was promised in the first place. Do not waste your money with them.

Recently, I had a very frustrating experience with Booking.com, and I feel it's important to share this to warn other users. **Disappointment with Cancellation:** I made a reservation with the promise of free cancellation, which was one of the main reasons I chose the platform. However, when I canceled my reservation a month before the scheduled date, I encountered an absurd situation: after a month, I still have not received my refund. The company's support simply stated that I was not entitled to my money back.
**Transparency Issues:** Additionally, the property I had reserved was removed from the site, raising several questions about the reliability and transparency of the service. This situation left me quite disappointed and made me question the seriousness of the platform. **Conclusion:** The lack of adequate support and the confusion surrounding cancellation policies left me extremely dissatisfied. Unfortunately, this negative experience makes me recommend caution when using Booking.com. Here's a tip: consider more reliable alternatives for your bookings. I hope that by sharing my story, others won't face the same problem.

My boyfriend and I reserved a hotel in Kansas City, and I made sure I checked the address to reserve the correct one, and before I confirmed the reservation, made sure it was the Super 8 we always go to. When we got to that hotel, the desk clerk told us that she didn’t have our reservation in her system. Then she asked if we used Booking.com and we were like 'yeah, why?' and she stated they have been booking people at the wrong hotel. The one we initially wanted to book at was 'Super 8 Independence Kansas City' and the one we got booked at was 'Super 8 Kansas City.'
We called Booking and they stated we needed to contact the property manager at the Super 8 that our reservation was at. I called them the next day and the property manager said we need to contact Booking.com since that is how we first booked. Booking.com is not taking responsibility for their mistake. I attempted to call customer service, but I was unable to get past the automated answering machine without an active reservation. Instead I was redirected to seek resolution through the online help center. I sent multiple messages through the help center. Each message generated the same automated response requesting that I submit "more info" about the disputed charges. After three days of round robin futile efforts, I called the customer service line again and bypassed the automated answering machine by entering an old confirmation number and PIN associated with a past completed reservation. The agent who took my call was not helpful. He could not clarify the charges and advised that he must escalate the inquiry up the chain of command for further investigation.
A day later I received a message saying that the finance department had concluded its investigation and confirmed the charges, but "for security reasons we are unable to provide specific details." Several more calls finally revealed that the charges were related to a booking in Reykjavik, Iceland. It was a booking not made by me. There was no paper trail linking me to the reservation (i.e. I was not sent an email confirmation of the reservation.) I explained that it was a fraudulent charge, but I was offered no further assistance. It was recommend to "discuss the issue with your bank." In the course of arranging to spend a night in Salisbury, NC, my search turned up the best rate for the Hampton Inn was a pre-paid non-refundable room thru Booking.com. So I booked a room online and when I arrived at the hotel, I was informed that I had no reservation there. The hotel front desk suggested that I verify that I had booked the correct location, as they had encountered on a number of occasions, where guests who thought they had booked in Salisbury, NC had actually booked the Hampton Inn in Salisbury, MA. I found that to be so in my case, so I immediately called the Hampton Inn in Maryland and they were gracious enough to agree to a refund.
However when I never received the credit back from booking.com, I forced to embarked on a painful two month process of going back and forth between booking.com and the hotel management. Booking.com assumed the posture that they could not refund me my money until they had written confirmation from the hotel management. The hotel patiently and kindly assured me that they had sent booking.com email confirmation on at least two occasions, yet booking.com kept presenting another hoop to jump thru.
I finally was able to get the hotel manager and booking.com on the line simultaneously. The hotel manager sent another email in real time, which booking.com was forced to acknowledge and hopefully the matter is settled. Booking.com claims that they were following the policy established between themselves and the hotels. I texted the person in charge with a cancellation and refund request explaining the reasons why we left.

Booking.com indicated that they were going to contact the property and send an email to seek property approval of the cancellation. The following morning, I contacted the property for follow-up, and they indicated that they were never contacted by Booking.com until the next morning at daytime. I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Booking.com’s customer service, which has left me questioning their commitment to customer satisfaction. I had $100 in travel credit that was set to expire on January 6, 2025, according to the email I received. However, their system claimed it expired on January 5, 2025, and the entire experience of resolving this issue was a nightmare.
First, when I noticed the problem on January 6, I tried reaching out through various channels. The messaging system offered no confirmation that my messages were sent, leaving me unsure if my inquiry was received. I mistakenly contacted the travel department instead of the accommodations department and only realized the error later. By January 7, having received no response, I had to Google their contact number to speak to someone directly.
When I finally reached a representative, they insisted that the expiration date was January 5, contradicting the email I had. After I sent them a screenshot as proof, they changed their argument, claiming that January 6 meant midnight at the start of the day (essentially the end of January 5). This “policy” is absurdly unclear and misleading.
Even worse, they blamed me for not reaching out on January 6, completely disregarding the fact that I tried but had difficulty navigating their unhelpful system. When I explained I had reached the wrong department, they said they couldn’t access that department’s information or verify my contact attempts. Shockingly, they claimed no one in the company could help or provide the necessary access.
Their tone became dismissive and condescending. They even argued that as a frequent user and almost a Level 3 Genius Award member, I should have “known” how to reach them, which is a ridiculous expectation. If their own representatives can’t find a department’s contact number, how can customers be expected to know? Overall, Booking.com’s customer service failed on every level—lack of accountability, unclear policies, unresponsive systems, and unprofessional behavior. For a company of this scale, this is unacceptable. I expected better, and this experience has made me seriously reconsider using their platform in the future.

I live in the U.S. and the site works great if I'm booking within the states. I always get the cheapest prices. But I used it to book my hotels in Japan and had a terrible experience. I booked hotels in 3 different areas of the country and each time my credit card was charged from a different area in Europe, so my card kept freezing because I only opened it up for travel in Japan. Booking.com couldn't tell me where my card was going to be charged next. I not only had to deal with the hassle of contacting my cc company each time but also booking.com to re-run my cards once opened. And I had a difficult time contacting booking.com. Using their online customer service was just as frustrating. Every time I would work with someone, they eventually stopped communicating with me. When I tried to reply again to their last e-mail, I would get their standard e-mail asking for all details of the reservation again. Even when they finally acknowledged via e-mail my e-mail address was not accurate (somehow ‘noautoresponse’ was added to the beginning of my e-mail address, they would not help me).
The online team kept telling me to call their customer support. Customer support via phone, you cannot get past the automated system to speak to an agent unless you have your confirmation #. Unfortunately we were too late, which is frustrating but at the end of the day it was my fault. This is where it gets bad, a booking.com customer service representative named Sidesh told me that I should cancel my current flight and rebook another.
Only issue was I couldn't afford to pay the grossly high cancellation fees and book another flight, but Sidesh told me that there had been a minor schedule change which waives the cancellation fee. After checking myself and having Sidesh confirm about 2-3 times that this was the case, I agreed to have my flight cancelled by him and I would book another flight. Flight booked (through Expedia this time) and all is right in the world.
The next day I get an e-mail saying that they would not waive the cancelation fee because the schedule change wasn't drastic.... I will never book through them again.

I got a problem with my airline ticket booking. So I was not able to check in online. It took me a very long time to get help from customer service specialist. Eventually I needed to pay for check in in the airport. Of course nobody reimbursed me these expenses. And they were not included in the Booking.com initial ticket price. In the end of our conversation, the customer service specialist said she denies to answer further questions because other customers are waiting for her.

Booked a reservation and the surcharges which were hidden made the cost double what was advertised. I called various numbers--there was no way to cancel without incurring most of the cost of the reservation. I'm spitting mad, and will never ever use Booking.com again. Buyers beware.

I am absolutely LIVID. I booked a trip over a month ago, and less than 2 weeks before the trip "BOOKING.COM" emails me to tell me "oops!! Instead of $400 for the whole trip, it's $400 PER NIGHT....sorry about that". This is completely unacceptable. I was told my two options was to 1) Pay 4X the amount YOU people told me or 2) Cancel. It is UNREAL to me that a company can make a mistake (or blame it on the hotel) and not do anything to make it right. It was the FIRST and LAST time I would EVER use booking.com.

Vacation. NEVER book anything on Booking.com and never book a room in HA Hotel Lake Bracciano Italy. My wife and I traveled all over Italy for 6 weeks and have nothing but good things to say, except for this hotel. We were on the road and attempting to make a reservation through booking.com for this hotel. While driving, I filled in a reservation form, but made a typing mistake and my first attempt was declined because I entered an incorrect zip code number for myself. I corrected it and we received confirmation for 1 room. When we arrived at the hotel, the manager told us we BOOKED 2 ROOMS. It was my wife and I and we only needed 1 room. Why would we book 2 rooms? He said booking.com made 2 reservations and we needed to discuss with them but he was charging us for 2 rooms.
Needless to say we objected, began a discussion with booking.com, and almost 3 months later we still have not gotten credit from either booking.com or HA hotel. A giant company like booking.com, and a hotel of this level, cheating people out of $200 is an absolute disgrace. To this day we are still fighting the most corrupt and incompetent customer service at booking.com, and continue to get a run around between the 2 companies. BEWARE OF BOTH.

I used Booking.com to make a reservation at Hampton Inn for New Year's visit to Visalia. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel but had great difficulty doing so. First, after contacting Booking.com said they would contact Hampton to cancel (later found out that they did not). In addition, since I contacted Booking.com after the cancel with no charge period, they said they would contact Hampton Inn and ask for exemption of cancellation fee (later found out they didn't). When I called Hampton Inn they said they were never contacted by Booking.com for the above two incidences and that my reservation was still active, so I cancelled them. In talking to Hampton Inn, it turned out that their rates made directly with them were not only cheaper and their cancellation policy was much better than Booking.com. Lesson learned, book directly with hotel (Hampton Inn) and take out the middle man (Booking.com).

Booking.com was absolutely awful, a complete headache that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I booked a hotel room the night before a surgery. My surgery was postponed and Booking.com told me I couldn't shift the reservation because I prepaid. I’m already going through a stressful time and then this on top of it all. After I spent my emotional energy on reacting to their unforgiving policy, they agreed to make an exception but the pain didn’t end there. They cancelled the reservation but it was stuck in some fourth party and the hotel still showed an active reservation and planned to charge me for it. I called Booking.com again and they refused to help me. I finally message the hotel directly who showed grace for a situation I had no fault in. I will never use Booking.com again and don’t recommend it for anyone.

I thought I’d use Booking.com to get a safe and troublefree booking experience. The home owner wrote 2 months later to cancel. Booking agent told me they would help me find another place at the same price but that,s as far as they went. I lost hours of time spent searching and of course, prices had gone up. They sent me a cancellation email ending with "ENJOY YOUR STAY."

So my family had an emergency and we had to check out a day early which the hotel manager was fine with. And so when I called Booking.com to let them know in hopes I may get my last night refunded back to me. They had put me on hold to contact the motel which in turn they said that yes we left a day early so then booking.com would be able to refund me the last night. I waited a couple days and noticed nothing was put back in my account. I called booking.com and they said I had to contact the motel for a refund so when I did that the motel said that I needed to call booking.com for the refund. It seems I was getting thrown back and forth. It even shows on my past bookings on the site that it was changed to only the 2 nights not the third.

It is not what it used to be. They went from a UK company to a Denmark company — with customer service that used to be great, now unhelpful and difficult to reach: an hour on the phone. Car rental adjustments are impossible once you book. DLW is by a 3rd party company that you have to deal with for any resolution. Cheaper, easier, and safer to book directly with car rental company. Still good for lodging, but the company is not as reputable as they used to be.

I have been waiting over 20 days for a refund for a room that was unsatisfactory. Booking has hotel rooms listed that I wouldn’t allow my pet to sleep in and they don’t value their customers. I have been given 3 different time frames for when I was supposed to receive my refund and still haven’t received it. I was just transferred to a manager who hung up in my face after I told her I was not satisfied with her resolution. Booking is a complete joke.! Save yourself some time and just book through the hotel site itself.

Try to avoid booking air tickets with Booking.com, they don't even obey US laws related to refunds. They partner with the worst customer support company Gotogate. US law says: 24 hour grace period for cancelation flight ticket if purchased within US. I contacted within an 1 hour after booking a ticket with request to cancel/change once I realized I made a mistake.
The customer support rep instead of cancelling pushed it to flight confirmation and suggested me to follow with the flight company. After I told him flight company referred back to bookign agency, he said: somebody will contact you within 1-2 hours. Nobody did contact me, after next day complaint and request to follow up, gotogate, finally contacted me stating they are willing to refund taxes on the ticket but it will take 1-2 months. Compare with great agencies like KIWI: excellent, service, immediate cancelation if needed and prompt reservation. Every time you see company partners with GOTOGATE: stay away

Had a reservation through Booking.com for Hilton Embassy Suites. I called two days before my arrival to confirm and was told my reservation was canceled. Booking.com showed my reservation as confirmed and not canceled. Spoke to customer service who contacted property directly. After waiting on hold for almost 20 minutes I was informed the hotel did have my reservation canceled and would not honor the confirmation with Booking.com.
As I was on the phone with the representative I was able to see the hotel had available rooms and that I could book directly with them. I asked her to cancel out the Booking.com reservation since it was not active with the hotel and so I would not be charged a cancellation fee. She informed that could not happen or I would be charged even though the hotel has my reservation canceled. I asked about compensation and how Booking.com would assist in resolving my experience and the representative informed me they would try to find me a hotel in the comparable price range so I wouldn’t have a higher expense. The call ended with me being informed I would receive a call within 3 hours to update me on negotiations with the hotel.

We booked a room through Booking. Once we arrived we had busted water pipes and cockroaches and no heater, we called booking and explained the issues to them. They said give them 24 hours each time I called so the 3rd time I called I told them I wasn’t excepting their 24 hours again… In the end they only refunded us 15%.
