Two times I booked a hotel through booking.com. Was a bad experience and they had no support. Last November booked a room on the Oregon Coast for Thanksgiving weekend. Booked it 3 months in advance. Got there and the room was nothing like in the photos. No oven or any cooking devices or ocean view. Hotel said I could cancel with no charge but what would you do 220 miles from home. No other hotels available. 2nd time booked 4 months in advance 7 night stay in Cabo San Lucas for February 2018. Just got email the place no longer wants to rent their unit. WTF? 30 days out now. There is nothing else left on beach from that week... Using this site has spoiled my trips 2 out of the 2 times I have used them. Sure good rates they show but after what I said they DO NOT DELIVER.

I Booked a reservation at the Hotel Bahia Taitza for Jan 13-20th and then realized I had put in the wrong dates so I changed it to Jan 9-13, they gave me a second confirmation number, which I assumed was the new confirmation number as the last booking should have been automatically cancelled when I changed the dates. After all this I realized I had the wrong 'San Jose' and cancelled the entire thing. When I checked my Visa I saw a charge of $561.72 for this hotel even though I already cancelled everything.
The Hotel is saying I still had my original reservation and their policy was 7 day cancellation even though I did all this within 16 minutes. They will not refund me or give me any money back. The hotel said it is Booking.com's fault for creating two different reservations when it should have only been one. Booking.com did nothing to help me. I am still stuck with a huge charge on my visa and neither the hotel nor booking.com seem to care at all. I WILL NEVER BE USING BOOKING.COM AGAIN, and that hotel is going to be getting its own bad review for how they grab your money immediately and won't refund you.

I booked 2 rooms in a hotel in Belgium for 3 adults and 3 children, which was clearly stated on the booking confirmation. On arrival at hotel the rooms were double rooms, which they rectified by putting camp beds in for the children. On check out they had made a charge of 120 euros for extra beds, which I disputed but had to pay so we could go to catch ferry. I emailed Booking.com 5 times but they did not respond. I phoned them and was told I should have read hotel brochure about rooms - why would I need to do that when I had written confirmation from Booking.com the rooms would accommodate 3 adults and 3 children! They were extremely unhelpful and I would never use them again. Would have been much simpler to deal with hotel direct.

They very disloyal and not accurate - I’ve book a trip 5 months in advance. Book a 3 bedroom townhouse on 1445 Retreat Circle Davenport FL which states, "Put a card on file to hold your room and pay at property," so they told us that they tried to contact us about a deposit 3 months prior to the date after we were already sitting at the property waiting on the phone for an hour waiting on to be told, "Sorry your room were resold and we are sorry. What we can do is find you another room," and if it’s more expensive they will pay the difference. The catch to that is they wanted us to pay almost $800 for a room and they will pay like $480 something but they want us to pay the whole $800 then they will reimburse us the $480 which we have done nothing wrong. Our room should have never been resold without us knowing then said they email us trying to get a payment. No email. I very sicken with Booking.com also this property.

Driving across the state to drop my son off at boot camp and since we had 3 weeks to buy a list of items close to $1000, I'm low on cash. I booked a room thru Booking.com for the first AND last time. My room total, tax & all was 129$ but when I arrived my total was $151. Front desk told me to contact Booking.com and when I did they sent me an email changing the price to 148$... I'm sorry but it's crap. I'm a single mom across state. Packed food even. No money to spare and I get ripped off. Driving 6 hours over at 1 am in snow, doing the classes for my son for 8 hours and driving 6 hours back on no sleep last weekend was easier than this BS!!!

Both the Hotel (Hotel Whitcomb San Francisco) and Booking.com are involved in this and overcharged us 4 times the going rate for $139 to $158 a night, billing us $595 a night. Neither the Hotel or Booking.Com will do anything to assist. The Hotel says we had a King Suite which maxes out at $499 which we did not, it was small room with barely enough room to get around the bed. These guys are crooks of the worst kind.

When my family travel to Paris in last Christmas, I decide to take a short trip visiting Belgium, we arrive at the evening and try to book a hotel for the night, but found my Paris phone do not work at Belgium, so I went to McDonald's restaurant using their wifi to book a hotel through booking.com. When we arrived the address that list on booking.com as Royal Suite Botanique, we found no hotel business sign, neither reception, look more like a resident or apartment, door was closed, I press the button at the door speaker, the other side response said they are not hotel. I wanted to contact booking.com but my phone was not working at Belgium.
While we were frustrated and ready to walk away, we saw one couple repeat what we just did, so I approached him and learn he also booking this hotel, he told us he will make a phone call to the hotel and told us the hotel owner will come to open the door for us but did not say how long, so we were waiting at the door for 45 minutes, in between, I saw the couple yelling at the phone a few time, I assume they were talking to the hotel owner. When we decide to gave up, we saw another three young man yelling at the door and kicking the door, I figured must be another victim just like us.
The following day after went back to Paris, I email the customer service at booking.com, their response that we need to read the fine print before booking Royal Suite Botanique, the fine print said contact the hotel to arrange for arrival. This was my first time booking a hotel with no reception neither business name at the door and have to call to arrange for arrival, furthermore need to read the fine print before reservation. I contacted customer service again after back to US, request a refund, and their response was below: "We reached out to Royal Suite Botanique and asked them to cancel your reservation. The property is unable to fulfill your request because this reservation has a non-refundable rate". I think that is it, no more booking.com, if you have trouble with the hotel you are booking, you are on your own, they will not stand behind you.

Westerdok 692, 6 Leliendaalstraat. Appalling stay. Owner lives above with shared entrance, therefore no privacy, basically staying in someone's lounge!! Detached smoke alarms no intercom etc, blocked entryway, badly converted flat. On the second night he deliberately locked us out (left his key in the lock), we heard yelling and screaming from him, with crying children running around. On the third night he threw us out without notice and refused to give us our money back, because he lied to Booking.com and said the apartment was for 5 when it was only for 4 people. Avoid at all costs. Couldn't leave a review on Booking.com because we had to cancel the booking to find other accommodation.

I booked the Pendry hotel in advance for Comic Con 2018 on January 3rd, 2018. I received an email on January 8th from Booking.com that my reservation was canceled because the "hotel is no longer able to honour this reservation, and accommodate you during your stay." My deposit was refunded. When I called the hotel they have stated they were fully booked and Booking.com should have never opened up availability. When I call Booking.com and spoke with a manager Cory, he basically said it wasn't their fault and it was the hotel's fault since they were the ones that sent them a link of availability. He said to work with the hotel. Booking.com has poor customer service, they don't want to admit they are at fault, and won't help out and work accommodations when it's their fault.
All they will do is provide a link where you can click on to make a new reservation. "Regrettably, we will not be able to assist with any differences in cost related to having to find another hotel" In addition, when you try speaking to find out more information they will not go above and beyond for you. They don't respond ASAP via email right away. I am working with the hotel and they said someone from Booking.com should personally reach out to me to get accommodations. They have yet to call me back. ALWAYS book via the main hotel's website when making reservations.

Don't use Booking.com! You can not deal with the hotel if you want anything. Most hotels let you cancel 24 hours in advance unless otherwise noted. Not if you reserve with booking.com. Then, you have to go through them...and they are located in Amsterdam!!! They provide an international phone number. After calling 3 different numbers and being on hold 3 times, I was told that even though it was 24 hours in advance and I had a good reason for cancelling, I was going to be charged for 1 night. If you value your sanity and time, DO NOT use booking.com. It is not worth it! PS Finally got a rep to remove the penalty fee (I thought). But she said I would receive an email noting that. I booked a room in Vegas through Southwest later finding out that they use booking.com. When I originally booked the room it was for $782.32 which included the destination fee. I received an email stating that the amount was $887.27 but they billed me for $782.32. Why you bill for $782.32 if it should have been $887.27 and it states that the destination fee is included so you should have charged me $887.27. I have booked through several third party and never had this issue. The price you have is the locked in price and that is how it should be. The only additional charges that I should get once I arrive to the hotel is the accidental fee hold. THAT'S IT!!!
I called them to try and get this resolved but because I didn't screenshot the original price listing they would not give me my money back that was added. If I knew that I was going to be charged the same amount as the hotel, I would have just went through Marriott. Do not book through them. There's no deals and they are not accommodating of their mess up. No one thinks to screenshot things and it was my fault that I didn't go back into my email but never again. I paid more through booking.com than I would have paid at the hotel.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the Sunroute Plaza Hotel at Maihama (Tokyo Disneyland). I did this booking for 2 adults and 1 9 years old child. When I reach the hotel I was told that booking for child was not done and I had to pay 7500 yen extra plus 1000 yen for the child's breakfast on top of 95000 yen I paid for just two days stay. How come your system doesn't realize this simple filter. Didn't face this issue on other hotels I booked through your app for my recent Tokyo Trip.
Also the rooms were too small for the price I paid from top of the roof. Utter disgusting customer service. They don't even have coffee sachets in the room which I found to be too cheap for such a big hotel. I had no choice but to stay given our schedules. You better check your hotel list and your system to avoid such issues further. It was nightmare stay for us. They are just taking advantage of so called proximity to Disneyland. I always book my hotels through booking.com, however this time around I booked a beautiful home in South Lake Tahoe. When I booked it; payment was due upon arrival. However the "property owner" demanded a deposit to keep my date. I called booking.com asked if that was necessary. They stated it was not within the contract. I did not have to pay. But if that was what the property owner's policy was I would be fine anyway because I booked it through booking.com. The owner stated the deposit was necessary because many people were booking her property and not showing up, with no cancellation. The "owner" emailed me what looked like a legit contract with all the details to her home and another email to send over the deposit to her account with her info. Long story short booking.com called me about month after I had booked this place and said they were no longer affiliated with this property and didn't give a reason why.
Come to find out it was all a total fraud/scam, I called another website that had this property on their website with many reviews. Talked to them and that is how I found out! The owner was a completely different person. It was booked the weekend I had reserved (New year's 2017/2018) to someone else. When I called booking.com to let them know all they could say is they couldn't do anything about it and they're sorry for any inconvenience, I lost $500.00 just like that. This is actually common and I had no idea. However booking.com has a ton of fraudulent activity that is not talked about or taken care of! I learned my lesson the hard way, I'm not the only one. When I spoke to the other website affiliated with the actual owners and property, there were many people from booking.com showing up to their property in the same situation I am in.

I tried to get their best price guarantee and they refused - stating I booked a room with a "full bed" not a "queen bed" and I said to them my printed receipt they sent me said "Deluxe Queen Suite" so why would a full bed be in a queen suite? Also they charge a lot of hidden fees that make absolutely no sense. Why would the hotel charge $95 less than booking.com - total price with taxes - and then booking.com says they won't honor the best price guarantee? This place is clearly a scam. After reading several people's complaints I am worried about a cancellation I had made at another hotel on this trip. The reason why I write this experience is that I booked holiday accommodation from 22-29 December at 11 Dunes in Umhlanga Durban, South Africa. I booked this in advance. Umhlanga Vacations handled this booking. I received an invoice and I paid the deposit (50%) and a few days later the full amount. On Monday the 18th of December 2017 I wrote an email asking Umhlanga Vacations where I can get my keys for the holiday. Umhlanga Vacations then replied that I can get my keys at Umdloti. My holiday accommodation was changed from 11 Dunes in Umhlanga to 17 Cascades in Umdloti, I was never asked about this nor informed. I told Umhlanga Vacations this is not on. I don't want to stay at Umdloti. Umdloti is a far cheaper place than Umhlanga and we stay every year at Umhlanga.
Umhlanga Vacations refunded my money but keep an administration fee, why must I pay it. It is not my fault. I provided booking.com with the proof of payment (2 payments) and the payment received from Umhlanga Vacations and my banking details, but I have up to date not receive any payments. I contacted booking.com, the response was the following: "We are sorry for your inconvenience." They provided me with two other options of which one of them are not at all a safe area where you can stay. My original booking was at the sea. They told me to find another place and keep the receipts then they will pay it later, Umhlanga (Durban) is full over December and I paid R2800-00 per night similar accommodation is R5500-00 per night. But I don't trust them as I have been struggling to get my money just for an administration fee. Generalized emails
My holiday never took place. I couldn't find accommodation at that price again because everything was full. This is how a loyal customer of booking.com is treated but I will never use booking.com again. Not after this. I have requested legal advice, it is just that they are still closed and opens in the next year because booking.com is not serious about solving problems except generalized emails. They don't care about a person's frustrations. My parents are over 65 years old, they cried about every day. About this holiday. I booked with Booking.com for a three day's stay at Caribbean Villas in Trinidad and Tobago. I canceled my reservation, within the permitted cancellation period for full refund. I noticed on my banking statement that, in addition to being charge extra, the hotel's information did not match where I booked. Instead, the hotel was listed Newhall Lodge.
Now, one would assume that Booking.com, as a third party vendor, would reconcile the transactions done on their website with my bank statement. Wrong. Instead, the company sided with the hotel stating that they have no record of payment. After reading reviews on several sites, namely TripAdvisor.com and BBC's Dec 2014 article, after the fact I'm inclined to believe that this is either an inside job and mutual understanding between the company and fraud hotel or Booking.com just does not verify the bank account or names of properties it hosts on its site. Either way, buyer beware. There should be more protections for customers especially for the fact that the company process close to one million transactions per day.

I made a reservation with Booking.com for a one night stay at one of their supported properties. There had been some mention of a possible snowstorm coming into our area and it arrived. I called the property to cancel our reservations, but they told me that I had made the reservation through booking.com so I needed to cancel this thru them. I then went to the booking.com website to notify them of my need to cancel this reservation because of this snowstorm and guess what there is nothing on their website that I could find that would let me cancel this reservation.
I have used this website booking.com many times in the past without any problems and I would have used this reservation if not for the snowstorm, but because of this problem, I will not be using them again anytime soon or recommend this website to anyone looking to make reservations. They list that you can make cancellations on their website, then do not provide a means to accomplish this process. Great business model booking.com.

After accidentally reserving a room for the wrong night, I immediately tried over and over to cancel my nonrefundable room. I called 5 times and sent 5 emails but got no response. I kept trying the next few days and a few days later FINALLY got a hold of someone. They were no help and told me that if I had tried to contact them earlier then I could’ve cancelled my room (although I tried to contact within minutes of my reservation) so after blaming it on me they called the hotel and said it was the hotel that wasn’t letting me cancel it.
I personally called the hotel who said it was up to booking.com to cancel the reservation. So now they are blaming the hotel. I tried getting on customer support chat who told me to expect a call later. I never got a call. I got back on the next day and the first guy just left the chat out of nowhere. Called into the customer service department and seek clarification, however, the service agent Ms ** was very unprofessional and challenged customer to write into media press as we wished.
Despite asking for further assistance and to speak to person in charge, was told off not to be bother as the Ms ** Manager of Services have no time for such matters. Book the hotel room on Booking.com. Evidently put the wrong date on the booking. When I got to the hotel they had no reservation on the books so I end up getting a room paying with my credit card. That same night went to Booking.com website. Cancelled my reservation. Got a cancellation email confirmation. Well come a month later I get another charge for two rooms for that night I originally put in a reservation for. I called the hotel. They said they never got a cancellation notice from Booking.com. Called Booking.com. Spoke with the representative. She tried to call the hotel to get them to cancel it. Course the guy said he couldn't do it. He got to speak to the owner who never answers his phone conveniently. So I called the hotel. They said I got to call Booking.com to cancel it. Booking.com says that can't do nothing about it. I got to call the hotel to cancel it. One is playing off the other. I think it's just a total scam. This is what they do.
Supposedly in their fine print they got in there if you cancel for any reason they can charge you the full rate for a night stay. Who does that. In what world is that okay to have a clause that if you cancel they can still charge your credit card the full room rate? That is totally ridiculous. I'll never use them again. Encourage anybody else not to use them again.
This website is a total scam. I think they're working together with these hotels to scam people out of their money. If you go there and you stay and everything's okay it's fine but the minute you got a problem nobody there to help. Got a hold of a supervisor there. His name was Ty. He said unless the owner cancels the credit card there's nothing he can do about it and the owner doesn't have to because basically their fine print says they can charge you the full room rate just for canceling even though you do it almost a month in advance. So hotel won't do anything to help Booking.com what do anything to help. Total scam scam scam.

Used them twice before and was satisfied -- had not problems. Most recent trip I've booked, they've lied about cancellation dates you have to cancel reservations -- i.e. -- booked a reservation for Miami that said you could cancel up thru 11:59 Dec 17. I landed in Budapest at 7 pm and received a text from an unknown number about my booking, giving me an updated address. As I am a savvy world traveler, I called the number because this did not add up. I spoke with a woman and explained that Booking.com would have to contact me with any changes since I booked with them. The call disconnected and I was not called or texted back by this number.
I called Booking.com, not feeling like being a cliche in an Eastern European country. The agent initially agreed that it was weird, and checked with the hotel. He came back and said that sometimes this happens with apartments that the address changes, and next time to book a hotel. It’s probably the owner’s number and address, not the apartment agency. I booked an apartment through Booking.com, with a specific address and contact number, so I do disagree when being told it's normal. I had no reassurance of this new address. He couldn't find it anywhere. I asked to speak with a supervisor. After another 45 minute call, she very very smugly pointed out a small line in the middle of ONE of the confirmation emails, showing an address similar to the one I was given, but still not the same one. All the addresses for the apartment were different, on the listing and at the very top and central part of the emails.
The apartment agency told me their address changed over a year ago and that they cannot change the information and Booking.com will not change it. The apartment building was in shambles. An Eastern European cliche. The door window was smashed in, all common spaces were shared, where I booked a completely private apartment. The agency also told me it's been over a year since any units have had private bathrooms. What terrible surprises. I called Booking.com three more times and got the same abhorrent customer service. Truly terrible, unhelpful, rude, and lacking empathy.
It's dangerous to have a woman traveling alone to trust a company that has no understanding of their own partners. It’s like if an Uber driver changed his car for a skateboard and came to pick you up with it, but the image on the app was still a car. Would you be livid? And if that skateboard was an apartment that you would be sharing with strangers unbeknownst to you, in a dark and dingy apartment at a different address than what you booked wouldn't you feel unsafe and afraid? Wouldn't you expect the company you booked with to understand, apologize, take accountability? Zero. Zero ** given by Booking.com. I would love to share my videos and photos. I am also asking their quality assurance team to pull these calls. It’s dangerous to have such incompetent people at the helm.

However when we arrived to pick it up (Fri afternoon) we were told we had to sign up for it with a credit card. We don't use credit cards so we were screwed and had to use my power steering leaking 2005 Honda to drive Florida and back. I had to have the steering rack replaced within a week of our return--at least we made it. Booking.com never told us we had to have a credit card. I was surprised as we PREPAID 100% of the rental car bill on our VISA DEBIT CARD. Still didn't make a difference and the airport demanded a credit card.
We called Booking.com for help and they said call the local Thrifty office which of course was closed on a Friday afternoon for the entire weekend. They also shuffled us around to heavily accented customer service reps. None of which helped and most I couldn't understand. So, leaking fluid, we made it to Florida. Our hotel was fine but we were still disappointed. We wanted to pay for a night or two then after seeing that area to possibly move on to another hotel. To do that (at the listed price) we had to prepay for the week (ok, 4 nights). No problem right? Booking.com told my wife on the phone we could simply stay a few nights cancel the rest and go on. Once we got to the hotel they said there was no canceling and if we did we would lose our money! So why did Booking.com tell us that? Mistake? A lie? I will never know.

They do not have a system in place that ensures a customer is a real customer. A booking can be made with a non-existent address, invalid credit card number, and out of service phone number. There are systems in place to validate credit card numbers and they can put this type of program into their systems. It is a known issue. It is approximately 2% of their gross sales so a mere $16,000,000 in lost sales to them but what is this to the small business owner. It's not an option to not work with these companies.

However, I went online to book a specific hotel in the UK and for some reason (not my choice) my request was directed to this Booking.com which I was under the impression this specific hotel because it was in the UK and I was in the US. Used them. Two days after making the reservation, I realized this hotel was 25 miles from where I needed to be so I canceled the reservation. Unbeknownst to me Booking.com has a cancellation policy of charging you for the full stay ($900+ US) which had already been charged to my AMEX credit card the day I make the reservations??? Who does that??
Now I am fighting with them to see if I can either reinstate my original reservation and bite the bullet and have to travel by train or bus to Liverpool (25 miles) or I have asked if they could transfer my reservation to a Best Western in Liverpool which the AMEX representative said they should have no problem doing that. We will see. I cannot believe the hotel in question would use such a booking agent and why would the hotel care if the reservation was canceled two days after being made and for next May 7th?? Hotels like these should not be promoted by travel websites such as Booking.com. Here are the highlights of my experience at the Warfield Hotel, courtesy of Booking.com. I got to the hotel on Sunday night, and the surroundings were scary: lots of homeless people, and many were scattered on the sidewalks. The hotel door was locked. This raises serious security concerns, because, as a guest, you don’t have easy access to shelter if you are being harassed while walking to the hotel.
I got a room on the 3rd floor and the elevator was not working. I had to haul my luggage 4 flights of narrow stairs. This is a very serious consideration for people with handicaps (and may even be a violation of SF Law). The room had a closet room without any place to hang clothing. The bathroom toilet was dirty. The seat had brown spots and yellow drippings on one side. This, of course, raises health concerns. I called the night attendant, PJ, he came up. He said there was nothing he could do. I asked him for some disinfectant, and he said he did not have any. I asked for another room and he said he did not have one available, and that I had to talk to the manager on Monday. He added that if I did not like it I should get another hotel.
After JP left, I called the front desk, and asked again to get another room. The lady at the front desk said she would clean the bathroom. About 15 mins later JP showed up with a bucket and locked himself in the bathroom. Afterwards he came out, he said “it’s clean.” I went to sleep and was awoken at 3:30 by a truck collecting trash on Taylor Street. After that I could not go to sleep, because of the heavy traffic on Taylor Street.

I arranged for accommodations in Mexico for three nights, expecting that the glowing review and description of the property was accurate. It was not. I contacted Booking.com and provided photos of the property and a description of our problems. I then wrote a review which was an honest appraisal of the property, which they did not publish. They purposefully misrepresent properties and make no effort to publish more honest reviews.

First couple times booking from here were awesome and went off without a hitch. Last 2 times, I guess I ran across some shady motels. First one wouldn’t call us back or even answer their phones. Wrote to Booking.com to try and help with the situation and didn’t even receive a response from them. Now I tried to book again. I’m trying to get in touch with the hotel (different from the first) and again, no response. I looked online to see if there is a different number I could try, and ran across some reviews saying the hotel was closed, but some are saying it isn’t. I feel like Booking.com should really keep up to date with these scamming motel/hotels. And hold them responsible for their lack of customer support. As they are losing business because of this. I will not be using this site again.

It turned out all hotels were booked up during that weekend. What could tourists from another country do in such a situation. When we called to complain about the incident, we found that the response was very irresponsible. We were told that the supervisor has reviewed our case and the decision is final and there is no way you could petition the higher management. When traveling, I don't usually make the reservations my DH does it. This week, I was looking for accommodation in Fez, Morocco and made the mistake of using Booking.com. They are totally misleading and made it look like you can cancel and/or change your reservation. In fact I had to make a change to the reservation and I get an email saying it is not possible to cancel or change my reservation without incurring an exorbitant fee – like $500.00! I emailed the hotel directly and they kindly took care of the problem. In this day and age, there's no reason to be getting scammed and ripped off like this – just email the hotel directly. I wish I had known to do that – would have saved probably 30% and a lot of potential aggravation.

I am extremely upset with Booking.com and will never use their site again. I feel the advertisement of the room I paid for was inaccurate. The pictures provided were extremely nice rooms, and it was labeled to have a whirlpool tub. It gave me the impression of a nice in-room whirlpool tub which I wanted for a romantic getaway with my husband for my 30th birthday. We get here and the room we were assigned is ugly, nothing like the pictures provided from Booking.com, and it's a joke what you consider a whirlpool tub. It's so tiny my 5 foot self can't comfortably sit in there. My expectations for my 30th birthday were crushed. To make it worse, there is no way to cancel, and I'm having to pay 185.00 for 1 night in this less than satisfactory place that is not what I expected at all. I decided I did not want to stay here after viewing the room, but because I used booking.com I have to because there it is nonrefundable.

I have made hotel reservations through Booking.com on many occasions. On a few occasions, I have had to contact customer service to deal with needs to cancel reservations - things like that. I have always been pleased with customer service, but nothing I really bragged about. I had an experience with customer service last night that I justifies written praise.
We booked reservations in three separate European cities through Booking.com. Through no fault of Booking.com, the hotel we booked with first decided it needed to renovate, so our reservation was moved to a related hotel (Spice Hotel). We checked out the Spice Hotel online and decided it was fine, so we allowed our reservation to be transferred. Six months later, Spice Hotel informs us they are overbooked, and they have moved our reservation to Hotel #3, which was decidedly not all right after we checked customer reviews. We got nowhere with Spice Hotel on our own, so we called Booking.com customer service for assistance.
After three days of trying to convince the Spice Hotel that our 6 month old reservation should be honored ahead of newer ones, Booking.com gave up on them and asked what they could do for us to make us happy. We told them a Milan we'd happily stayed in before, and asked if they could get us the Spice Hotel rate at the Andreola Central. Although they were not able to get us that rate, Booking.com told us about their price-matching policy, and have agreed to pay us the difference between what we were gonna pay to stay at the Spice Hotel and the price we will pay to stay in the Andreola. Thank you, Booking.com and thank you to your wonderful service rep who really worked hard to make us happy.

The headline price given was 50 euros so I went ahead and booked with my debit card details which are stored with Booking.com as I regularly use them. However when I checked my bank account a few days later I found that a further 42 euros had been added to the headline price given to me by Booking.com. When I checked the Booking.com website I noticed in small print at the end of the booking that the hotel adds 30 euros for cleaning the room and 6 euros per day for electricity.
Had I been aware of this extra cost I would not have made this booking as there are cheaper alternatives in Benidorm who do not use this extra hidden cost. I believe this is a very poor practice and that this cost should be shown in the headline rate. I write to inform prospective customers to be mindful of this poor practice. And to say that I will never use Booking.com again as there is no way I can rectify this matter through a lack of complaints procedure being made available by the company.

This weekend we were traveling to a hotel we'd booked over 7 months ago. The day before we were due to travel I had an e-mail directly from the accommodation saying they were preparing for our arrival and asking for the names of all guests. Just 4 hours later, less than 24 hours before we were due to check in, Booking.com e-mailed (NOTE - no phone call, only an e-mail) to advise that the hotel could no longer accommodate us due to maintenance work, and that they'd booked us into alternative accommodation which was about a 40 minute walk from the original one. I had to phone them to find out what was going on, they confirmed the booking had indeed been cancelled, but said it "wasn't their fault" because it was the hotel who'd made the cancellation and not them. I was furious and ended up having to pay way more in order to get somewhere in the area we needed to be.
In addition, a previous encounter with them meant we paid £133 for a hotel room through them, but when we got to the hotel the price list showed that if we'd booked directly with the hotel it would have just been £90. And when they put the distances on their website (e.g. how far it is from a particular venue), it is 'as the crow flies' meaning it's totally irrelevant. It told us one hotel was only 0.3 miles away from a venue we were visiting, but failed to mention there was a whopping great river between the 2, and that the actual walking/driving distance was over 2 miles! Totally unreliable and I won't be using them again.

I spent many hours booking as many months ahead as possible until it wouldn't let me go beyond one year. It was a long process since I was obliged to give my full card details afresh each time.
Several days later I had a shock when I checked my bank account which only had £10 in it which was for petrol for my car, to see that I was overdrawn by the amount of 3 full payments for the very last 3 months I had booked with Booking.com, next summer 2018 in fact. Arrived there as I had reserved sight unseen and turns out this hotel is being used as a halfway house! Beyond dangerous, dirty, ghetto. Booking.com offers NO REFUNDS, there is also no readily available phone number to call them. Their site for Astro Best Inn is completely filled with misinformation and non-existent amenities.
The ONLY amenities this place offers is "free Wi-Fi" and "free coffee". Yep! There was no Wi-Fi, at all. I picked this place because I needed the internet access. Went back and forth with the front desk one of the days for 3 hours, it was "being worked on". And the free coffee? I opened the lid to clean it out and the coffee maker was crammed full of old, dirty, used tea bags. No trusting that machine. Further, there was no hot water in the shower! What hotel in the US has absolutely no hot water?
I complained to Booking.com and they said to take it up with the hotel. They advertise amenities and options that the hotels do not actually have, charge you, then do not stand by what is on their own website. During the same trip, I tried to reserve another hotel and the website stated "No credit card needed" and I could just go to that hotel. They would charge me when I arrived. Also said that I could cancel free of charge. I had to cancel before the cut-off time. Somehow, from my other reservation, because they still had my CC info., they were able to attribute it to this booking and still charged my credit card! Even though the site said no CC needed, no cancellation fees.
I had to shove a towel under the door because it was about 3" up off the ground and bugs could walk right in. Dead roaches all around too. The phone was marked "Comfort Inn" and "Room 106", like they'd just bought everything at a Motels Going Out of Business sale! Strangely my review of Astro Best Inn that I created on the Booking.com website is still sitting in limbo, waiting for them to approve it.

But when I tried to sleep I had an issue. At that moment someone on my bed thus the receptionist moved me to another bunk. When I made my bed, I couldn’t find any pillow nor sheet. I couldn’t sleep without both since morning was cold and it’s been days since I had a chance to sleep on bed. Someone also checked on my bags as I tried to sleep which I found it uncomfortable. I decided to checked out earlier than expected (which like earlier than early checkout). I went to receptionist but he said I couldn’t, then I said to him “but I need to safe my bags because I felt insecure if I left it in the room without lockers and to all those maniacs”. He said sure. I decided to come back after I hung out in some cafes to kill the time at 3pm only to find a female receptionist accused me to checking out late. I complained to Booking.com and gave review to the accommodation but it was never posted and the CS just said like all was my fault. Never use third party booking on accommodation ever since they were not there and won’t ever believe their customer.

I had advised her I cancelled it last week and states I never cancelled my reservation. I call Booking and they state I never cancelled and that it still shows under their system. But I recall canceling my reservation and getting a confirmation email. The lady made me seem like I was stupid and didn't cancel. Plus they wanted to charge me for the day when I cancelled it. Reservation of NON-EXISTING hotel! Late last year (2016) a group of friends reserved hotels for a travel across Belgium and used Booking, as had done many times before. Over a month after reservation in Brussels was done, they contacted us that they had found out that the hotel was a fake and does not exist (The Secret's House Grand-Place)... and in case the payment had been done, we should contact our bank and ask THEM for a refund. It took us over six months until in June they finally refund the money.
To our understanding: Booking should have a minimal diligence in making sure the hotels they advertise do exist. We do not pay the hotel; we pay Booking... they have victims of a scam and are the ones who forwarded the money - so, if any problem arises, it should be Booking the ones making sure the customer is satisfied. After a lot of emails and filling a complaint through the consumers' office in Madrid, they reluctantly returned the money. We are not willing to make business with them again and recommend caution to other users.

I actually thought I was booking a hotel room through Orbitz and someone Booking.com interception the booking. I live in Indiana. Booked a room with the Hyatt hotel in Garden City NY. We were running late, I called the hotel and told them we would be late. When we arrived the hotel said they could not find a booking for me and did not have a room. That is when I discovered Booking.com intercepted my reservations, they helped me find an available at another hotel. But lied and said they had booked the room for, when I got there found out that was not true.
I was able to get a room and the Booking.com rep named Danny ** who said Booking.com would refund me the difference in the room cost for which I paid more at the Holiday Inn. I have submitted the bill at least 8 times and each rep says they do not see where I submitted. Each one told me to submit to them but to this day I did not received the refund and all reps still claim they did not receive my bill. I never booked with Booking.com and never will. I will not allow them to intercept another reservation for me. By the way the difference was only 29.00 and they would not even honor that same amount.

As we were checking in, I was told that it was actually cheaper to just call hotel and book with them. I had no idea, and that would have worked really well, since I knew exactly where we wanted to go. I had assumed it was more like Expedia, and that there would be better deals. I had a mandatory evacuation order where I live. I hurriedly looked for a pet friendly hotel. One popped up on Booking.com. They advertised it nice at $149.00 a night. When I got there taking a Lyft ride, the place was a sheet metal dive. The hallways were lined in sheet metal. The room was disgusting with roaches all over. The TV, the radio, the phone to the front desk, and the wall outlets didn't work (they burned up 3 cell phone chargers I had brought). The hallway lights blacked out, and during the storm I was a virtual prisoner in this hell hole. The normal rate, I learned is $49 a night for this drug flop house. One of my 2 cats got poisoned and I have a huge vet bill. The sheet metal lining the walls and on top flew off and pounded against my window and room. Street people pounding on my door all night. I have numerous photos, and documented on Facebook each night, publicly.
I couldn't upload until I got out of room after storm and borrowed a charger from a store-front owner in this dangerous area. I was able to get an Uber ride back from Orlando to St. Petersburg, Fl at a very large cost. I called and wrote Booking.com and they are still booking the room #117 at, now, $49 a night. I paid $149 plus a $10 bribe anytime I needed a towel. When I asked the hotel (3 times) for an adjustment on the cost, they claimed not to speak English. I have filed complaints with the Attorney General's office for price gouging and the Florida Hotel Sanitation Department. If anyone else experiences this, they should do the same. I sent many photos to Booking.com and wrote them, they sent me an email with a pat apology and asked for 7 days to look at my photos. 7 days.
I wish I would have had 7 days to find a decent hotel during the hurricane. Once the storm was over, and just prior to another round of tropical storms, the hotel stored the twisted and sharp large pieces of sheet metal in the hallways, right next to my room. The pool water, as I was placed right next to the pool, started overflowing into my room. I quickly decided to use my clothing to block it from coming in. The air conditioner was just a couple inches off the ground and running with the water coming in. Fortunately, I had brought rubber boots to avoid electric shock. All of my clothing was destroyed. FEMA has not been helpful with this. The cost to date for those couple of days runs into the thousands. Booking.com asked me for my photos, so I posted them on their Facebook page. Then they marked the photos as "spam" and deleted them.
Sorry, Booking.com, but I'm not going away until this problem is resolved, and I won't be silenced. My photos are date and time stamped and I have kept additional photos of room should I need to contact my Attorney about this. And I most certainly will if my cat ends up dying. She (the cat) needs much care now. She vomited blood all over my condo and furniture when we arrived home. She was poisoned by the chemicals the staff at the M Hotel sprayed on the floor because of all the roaches. I asked them not to come in my room and do this. I was locked out of my room, with the cats inside, when I arrived back from the storefront where the nice shop owner helped me. Thank God for him. I may have easily died there with the sheet metal flying through the hallways. Thank you.

Be very wary of using this website. It is not trustworthy. If you must cancel a hotel booking chances are very high that the cancellation did not actually happen and the hotel will charge your card. I can guarantee that for sure. Make sure you never delete your cancellation confirmations, but don't count on always getting an email from Booking.com proving the hotel was cancelled.
The same goes for date changes on reservations, there is a very high possibility the change was not made, and you are now without a hotel room as was the case for my family when we were moving our son to the University of Alabama. I would go to the website and copy and print the confirmation showing the hotel was actually cancelled or the date change and keep a copy for your records. Plus be very careful checking your credit card statement for several months afterwards, looking for hotel charges to your card.
As you might have guessed by now if you are lucky to get a hold of Booking.com, and I mean lucky, they will tell you it was the hotel's fault. The hotel on the other hand will wash their hands and tell you they can't talk to you and you will have to communicate through Booking.com. Reading between the lines no one will take responsibility and you simply will be out of pocket money. Deal with the hotel directly, it's the safest ways to book!!!

I made a reservation at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Vancouver for 2 rooms and I had a confirmation number and printed out my reservation. My sister and her husband were traveling with us to go to a wedding. When we got to the Double Tree by Hilton they didn't have our reservation and the receptionist called Booking.com to find out what happened and she said the reservation never got processed. So we had to make other arrangements at another hotel and of course that made us late for the wedding which was for my niece. This thoroughly upset all of us.
When I got back home I tried calling Booking.com but they don't answer their phones and drop the call. We also went back and forth thru emails and I was told to send them the cost of the other hotel but they failed to give me an address to send the information. I asked them for a address and I never heard from them again. So if I were you I would go with another company. These guys aren't very reliable. But if you do go thru Booking.com be sure you check "your bookings" to see if it went through and was processed, that's the only way you can see if your reservation got booked.

Booking.com was once very good and considerate for users. That was 8 years ago. Now, on their website, there are tons of misleading and fraudulent listings by hotels in Spain, Europe, USA. I booked a hotel in Spain through Booking.com, when I made the booking, they use big letters confirming "free cancellation". The next day, I changed to another hotel, and cancelled my booking, two days later, I received email from them stating I was charged with full price of the hotel stay for cancellation. I called Booking.com, after 30 minutes of waiting on the phone and they told me they are going to contact the hotel and call me back. They never did. Do not use Booking.com.

All hotel room in area are out of room or overprice. My daughter slept in her car to make an event completion. Booking.com found room fifteen miles past the event and I could pay 100 more and not on bus route. I will have to drive to event 90 miles each way for 3 days.
Booking.com did not even return phone call. Don't use booking.com if you can guarantee room. They never attempted to call back. I have cell phone bill. 1 hour on phone after I call booking and received we will call you back. Never did. I will never use booking.com again. I don't like being roomless 90 miles from home. Thanks Booking.com for nothing. I am reporting to Better Business Bureau and Attorney General office. It was clear our rooms were sold for more money. We were due to arrive at New York-New York on Friday Sept. 8, 2017. However, due to the impending passage of Hurricane Irma, our flight from MIA to Las Vegas was cancelled. While at the AA office, we called New York-New York and spoke to a very helpful gentleman, James, who advised that due to the flight being cancelled because of the hurricane, our fees would be waived. BASED ON THIS, we went ahead and cancelled our entire trip (not like we had a choice!) We could not defer the days as our obligations do not allow. We also cannot fly to another airport as AA only flies to MIA from our country! We were told by James that the cancellation had to be made via the 3rd party site we used to book it, which was booking.com.
When we arrived home, FIRST the contact number was NOT working, so we had to resort to emails. BOOKING.COM said they had to be given the go ahead from New York-New York to make the cancellation without charging the fees. They then came back and advised that New York said they were not going to waive the fees. There was a constant back and forth between my boyfriend and BOOKING.COM with him trying to explain that we were told by the hotel directly that the fees would be waived due to the circumstances in this instance. However, BOOKING.COM has now stopped responding to the emails. This is extremely shady. Either the gentleman at the hotel gave us wrong information or BOOKING.COM is lying about trying to reach NY NY as we are being sent in circles!

Booking.com was an option to book a hotel on the Southwest website after I made a flight reservation. I booked the hotel and the email confirmation went straight to my boss. She informed me that she had already made a reservation. I quickly called the hotel to cancel the reservation I made but they couldn't locate the reservation. She proceeded to tell me that it might have been made through a third party and I should call them. So I looked back on my confirmation information and it said Booking.com. Called their customer service number and spoke with Ian. He reminded me they are non-refundable charges and to hold while he spoke with someone.
He came back and said they have to speak with the hotel and they make the call. He couldn't promise anything. So I call the hotel back and let her know what he said. She let me know that "He doesn't want you to get a refund because then he will not get paid for the reservation." The rep Ian at Booking.com told me he needed 24/48 hours to speak with hotel rep and see if they can cancel it. After reading 2,047 negative reviews and no refunds issued, I am not expecting much. Company... if you can call it that, should not be able to be in business. They are a big SCAM and I am still not sure why Southwest would allow them to be on their website as a affiliate. I'll get back and delete the review if I get my refund.

Price match guarantee, what a joke. You can dress a monkey in a suit, it doesn't change the fact that it's still a monkey!!! They change the naming of the room type in order to claim that the room type is not the same offering as others, just to get out of price matching. I query them on this before our trip, because the descriptions for all of the offerings I showed them were exactly the same. They still claim after the fact that their offering was different to all the others, even though I have the exact booking sheet from the site themselves which shows that the room type booked through booking.com is named exactly the same as all the others that I submitted to them for the price match "Standard Cabin".

I contacted them and the response was they shouldn't of showed you that. In addition, I looked up prices direct from the hotel and they were WAY less. Booking.com: Apartment in Westwood, L.A. was SCAM - NEVER BOOK THROUGH BOOKING.COM. Units are a scam and they will not give my money back - it was filthy, not the place I rented, and not ready on time!! I rented a unit with beautiful pictures - clean, bright, lots of light. Ashton Apartment 324. The apartment managers would not let me in until after the scheduled time and then the unit (#100) was FILTHY - NOT CLEAN - WORST I have ever seen in a rental. They were still cleaning - but had hours to go. HUGE pile of wadded toilet tissue next to toilet. Many trash bags stuffed and overflowing. Chunks of debris all over floor throughout apartment. Had not been swept or vacuumed. Drawers in kitchen were dirty. Everything was cheap and the apartment # was NOT the apartment # in the photo/listing.
Since it was NOT EVEN CLOSE TO READY at the appointed time - and it was NOT what I expected or contracted for - I talked with manager and their rep - They would not negotiate, give me a different unit, or give my MONEY BACK. THEY stole my money. I called Booking.com to report it - they did not negotiate a settlement - said sorry. NEVER BOOK THROUGH THEM! NEVER TRUST THEM. I have a witness - a person was with me when I entered the unit with the manager's rep. Booking.com advertised a Double Room and Double Bed room at Sea Cove in Ocean City, MD. When I arrived at the motel I was told that there are no double-rooms, but double beds. When I mentioned the advertisement, I was told that a lot of people are confused by the wording. I replied, 'double' means TWO, so there should be two rooms with two beds. I was then told since the word 'room' didn't have an 'S' on it, it only meant one room. Again I replied 'double' means two all day, every day!
Additionally, there were six of us, and the clerk told me they didn't accommodate six to a room. I told her when I booked the room, there was no mention of only four people in a room. Apparently, there was supposed to be a pop-up message letting me know I couldn't book six to a room. (4 adults and 2 children). I traveled to Italy in June 2017 and used booking.com to book accommodation. My complaint relates to one particular booking at Affittacamere PZeta in Cinque Terre. The booking was made well in advance of my trip and well in advance of the cancellation date. Before my trip (but still before the last dates to cancel) I reviewed my accommodation option using the booking.com application or “app” which displayed all my bookings on bookings.com – or so I thought! A trip that I booked to Vernazza in Cinque Terre, Italy totaling EURO 660 did not reflect on my profile on the “app”. I only found this out when the owner of Affittacamere PZeta phoned me on the 24th of June asking me when I would arrive.
I had just checked in to Monterosso (a neighboring village) and was surprised that she was expecting me. I explained that there was obviously some mistake. The owner of Affittacamere PZeta immediately charged the full EURO 660 to my credit card. Granted, that the policy of booking.com does provide for the owner to charge the full amount on a no-show but what surprised me was that my profile on the booking.com app did not reflect this booking at all. On my return back to South Africa, I searched my emails and found a confirmation email from booking.com confirming the booking.
I contacted the customer support line and Trista ** responded that “There may be 2 reason which the Booking cannot appear in your app. 1. You made this booking on other affiliate --- Google website; or 2. You did not log in your account to make this booking.” These are all plausible however I do find it rather disappointing on booking.com’s behalf not to 1. Have the capability to detail all the bookings through booking.com, irrespective of the affiliate website used or 2. If this capability is not available, clearly bringing to the user’s attention. My total accommodation spent on booking.com was roughly R36 000, R12 000 being completely wasted on the no-show.
What was even more upsetting, was that the owner Affittacamere PZeta immediately charged the full amount which comprised two rooms for three nights – which she was according to policy. On a softer side, she could have been amenable to the fact that a mistake has been made. She could have charged me for 1 night, both rooms with an additional charge had she been unable to rent it out for the remaining two nights, which was unlikely considering that it was peak season.
I phoned her the next day and she informed that the rooms had in fact been rented out. As an aside, the couple traveling with us had a similar issue with a no-show booking which they made through booking.com. It was exactly the same scenario that we had but the owner confirmed the booking the day before the time and realizing that there had a mistake, canceled the booking. This is an indication that the booking.com “app” clearly has some shortcomings. It would have been cheaper for me to use a travel agent. I would thus not recommend using them as the costs of a no-show could spoil the entire trip, as it did mine.

Perhaps, some people are willing to compromise and live in the stink, but that has to be stated clearly during the booking. Booking.com went in extreme lengths to defend their advertiser. Booking.com was lying, acting in deceitfully way and making xenophobic statements. So... 1. Booking.com was lying about terms and conditions of rent (hiding above facts). 2. Booking.com was lying that they will 'cover and/or pay' if refund is not returned (later on. other workers admitted that that is a lie stated by several of their colleagues).
3. Booking.com was lying, smearing and making xenophobic jibes about the whole Greece when claiming that the 'toilet issue' (disposing stinky toilet tissue in ordinary bin in the bathroom) is a custom in all of Greece!? Honestly? A custom in all of Greece? Since when? Perhaps, they wanted to defend their revenue (advertiser) or they are just ignorant and stupid - I do not know which... and in a process of doing that they did not hesitate to falsely accuse, demonetise and smear the whole country, in effect calling and describing Greek people as some kind of uncivilised animals with disgusting 'customs' (A customs that do not exist - only bad planning and possibly no planning permission).
4. Booking.com could not even obtain the receipt from the 'apartments' till the moment I threatened to report the event/a fraud to the Tax authorities in Athens. Only then, after ten days, their customer issued the invoice for 'services' undercutting me for 36 Euro in bogus, deputed services. STAY OUT OF THIS SITE! BE WARNED... Booking.com did not compensate us for the hours spent on the line, nor for the changes we had to make to our itinerary due to the location of the alternate hotel. Nor did they provide a discount. Nor did anyone senior contact us to apologize for the mix up, and the cancellation our 7-month old confirmed reservation, 48 hours prior to departure. Nothing was done. Nothing at all. This would be the equivalent of one breakfast when we were owed 8 breakfasts (4 nights for two people). BE WARNED... Booking.com are not a reputable company!!
