Booking. Com doesn't vet their hotels. Got a room thru this site - no key available, clerk used master key to let us in. Bed had yellow stains, long black hair and pubic hair in it. Dog barked all night. No refund - $33 credit. To use at another unvetted place? No thanks!

BE CAREFUL when using the booking service from this website. When I arrived at the hotel reserved by booking, it was overbooked. I was NOT given the alternative by the Booking support staff. They urged me to book other hotels on my own after numerous calls, and they said they would reimburse the difference. They also affirm that there are no price restrictions on the hotels I can book.
However, after I turned in the invoices, they indicated they would only reimburse $25 (instead of $600) because I had made MY OWN reservations for the alternative and would have to pay the remaining amount. I reminded them that, the booking support team asked me to find alternative because they couldn't do it, that’s why I must find other alternative by myself, but they ignore their liability.
I requested to speak with the customer compliance agency, and they provided me with the EU commission, which does not assist US clients. They said that Booking is a Dutch-base company so there are no agencies support US customers. OMG! For the protection of its customers, the FTC must conduct an investigation into this website.

In March of this year, not wanting to give up on my dream, I booked another trip to Cyprus October 6-14 via booking.com on Austrian Airlines. I purchased 9 airline tickets, paid extra for checked baggage, and also paid for seats so that I was assured we would all be sitting together. Altogether it cost me about $13,800.00.
This past Saturday, I was reviewing the booking on the Austrian Airlines app, I have the app because I always fly with Austrian group Airlines, and I noticed it said no checked baggage. I panicked. How can anyone travel internationally with five kids and no checked baggage?! So I called Austrian Airlines who directed me to the booking agency. I called Booking.com and spoke to Deepika. She said no, I paid for checked baggage. She sent me an email which did indeed show that each of us was permitted one checked bag and one carry on bag. She said she also emailed Austrian Airlines the same information.
After reviewing that email, I noticed a wrong name on one of the tickets. Liam as a first name and Joseph as a last name. He is Liam Joseph **. I call Austrian Airlines. They tell me he won't get on the plane unless it is corrected and I had to have that correction done with booking.com, but if it is more than a two-letter change, I would have to cancel the ticket and then purchase another ticket. I called booking.com. I speak to Palak who says the only way to remedy this is to cancel the non-refundable ticket and purchase a new one. So I say if that's the only solution, I guess that's what I have to do. She cancelled the ticket but said it would be refunded. I tried to buy a new ticket immediately with her but she said she couldn't do that.
Now I call Austrian Airlines to purchase another ticket quickly so I can get this 3 year old on the same flights with the rest of us. They told me I have to do it through booking.com. I call booking.com again and I get Sheila. Each time I have to explain what the people before them said. So I told Sheila, I cancelled the ticket and now I was told by Austrian I have to purchase a new ticket from booking.com. At this point I'm having a panic attack thinking if this 3 year old can't get on the same flights, I could potentially lose the whole $13,800.00 because if he can't go, then none of us can. I cry all of this to Sheila. She said they would reissue the ticket and make a name change. Don't worry she said when I clarified that he would be on the same flights as the rest of us. Yes, don't worry, don't worry. At this point this is all just conversations, hearsay.
Sunday I'm still very worried. So I called booking.com so that I can get something in writing. Emanuel tells me they're working on it and that he would escalate it to his supervisors and he sends me an email to that effect, but, unlike Sheila, he states there is no guaranteed outcome. Monday I called booking.com again. I speak to Neitshe. I tell her I just want to purchase another ticket altogether. She discourages me from doing that saying it could complicate the process that's already ongoing. She tells me to wait "a few more hours".
Tuesday I speak to Mayur who says that 1/2 hour prior to my call that this case has been given to the "team". He said I should hear from them either via email or telephone in 2-3 hours. 24 hours later, nothing. Today, Wednesday I spoke to someone named Sakshi and we got disconnected when she put me on a "brief hold" to check the status of my case. I called back and got someone whose name sounded like Bright. He tells me that since the name change involves more than two letters, it can't be done. At this point, I'm losing my mind. I say I'm just going to purchase another ticket. Which I did directly with Austrian Airlines for $2,156.58 US dollars.

Booking.com treats its customers like they are nobody. I rented a room for 3 nights through their website and when I showed up, the room was already occupied. I had to go through over 4 customer service agents and spend well over 3 hours on the phone. I have been told initially that I would get a reimbursement for the total amount of my expense to finally be told that I was supposed to call on the first day to be relocated, therefore I would not get a penny out of them. I have lost not only what I paid through Booking.com $415 but $735 I had to pay over that for 2 hotels we managed to find on our own. And now I am told my file is closed as senior staff refuse to talk to customers, hiding behind their minions. They should be ashamed of how they are treating their customers.

I booked a car at the wrong location and had to rent another at the right location. The problem is trying to get my money back from booking.com for the car that I never picked up and never used. I have gotten a complete run around trying to submit a claim and get my money back. You can not get a phone number that works and will allow you to talk to a person. After 15 emails back and forth they kept sending me phone numbers that are completely automated and will not let me in because my information doesn’t match their system. They refuse to call for security reasons but I’ve given all information that they needed in the emailing back and forth. They finally sent me a number but it was international.
After calling that number I received a text from my provider saying I was going to be charged $96 for international calls. So I don’t have a refund for the car over $400 and now being charged for trying to talk to an actual person. They are set up to take your money and not help with ANY ISSUE you have. Just don’t waste your time with Booking.com and go direct to rental companies. You’ll never get your money back and NEVER be able to talk to a person!

We planned this trip 10 months ago, we saved to pay for accommodations. However it seems Booking.com doesn’t do their due diligence to be sure all properties on their website are legit. We drove 5 hours to find out we had no accommodations and the property already charged us for the rental. I contacted Booking.com but to no avail. I spent 3 separate hours on 3 separate calls to customer service only to be lied to. Each employee just passed the buck and I went through the same garbage with each one. They said they would find me accommodations but each call was a wasted hour with absolutely no results.
Funny though I was able to find my own accommodations on their website in less than 10 minutes. I had to pay for another 3 nights when I’ve already been charged for Prior reservation. So just lied to each time because I went through the same process with each customer service employee. Please don’t waste your time on these bookings or you might be the next victim of their crappy company.

So called hotel to cancel, within two hours of making reservations, and they would have with no problem but since I booked through booking.com (third party) they could not cancel. I called booking.com and they would not cancel or refund the night stay after being on hold for four hours. Complete rip off. I will never book another stay through that website.

Caution should be exercised when considering the use of Booking.com, especially if you encounter challenges with your rental property. Our recent vacation rental experience was facilitated through this platform, and unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations in multiple ways. The unit did not match the description provided (unclean premises, absence of toiletries and cleaning supplies, malfunctioning lock, and a broken dishwasher). Regrettably, we found ourselves not only having to purchase our own cleaning products, but also spending time cleaning the entire apartment before we could even begin our vacation. Understandably, this situation left us feeling quite frustrated. We promptly reached out to booking.com in order to address these issues and seek appropriate compensation.
Despite making repeated attempts over the course of weeks, our communications with booking.com have yielded little result. Our inquiries have consistently garnered generic automated responses, and our efforts to escalate the matter have largely gone unanswered. This level of service, or lack thereof, is deeply disappointing and far from acceptable. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with the decision to refrain from using booking.com in the future

I used Booking.com to secure a rental car in Seattle. Upon arrival at the rental car desk there was no there and after waiting and attempting contact to anyone I was forced to rent from another vendor. I reached out Booking.com about the situation and I have not been able to reach anyone. They said I needed confirmation Number and a PIN. I was not provided with either, so they suggest setting up an account to get those. I set up an account and I still don't have the two things required to even talk to someone or a lodge a complaint. I feel like my was taken by this and that they have provided me no chance to even contest it. I believe that these are unfair business practices and should be addressed.

I booked with Booking.com for 9 people, at the Grand Oasis Cancun a supposedly all inclusive, I paid for the transport shuttle to and from the hotel, and when we arrived at the airport, we were not able to find anyone with the contact they provided. When I called booking.com they stated our trip had to be done with their sister travel agency Priceline.com and in two parts so our parties were separated into two parties - one party of 4, and one of 5. The party of 4 were picked up by one company and my party of 5 could not find anyone from Priceline. I tried calling them and all I got was an answering machine, every time I would request for a customer service rep the machine would start over.
Needless to say I never got contact and we had to pay $160.00 US dollars to get to the hotel. Once at the hotel I went to the guest services to reserve our return shuttle and was only charged $72.00 US dollars for all 5 people. We were supposed to be at an all inclusive resort and at check in they told us we had the standard nationals wristband for all inclusive. Meaning all the drinks were the cheapest available, and the food choices were mediocre at best. The Resort said our travel agent should have explained that while booking for an extra $100.00 US dollars per person we would have gotten the VIP wristband, but now that we were there, in order to get that wristband we now had to pay $300.00 US dollars per person.
Our sleeping arrangements were supposed to be for 4 married couples with a king bed and one couple (Mine) with a 22 year old son, needless to say all the couples got two full size beds in the rooms. We had to complain for the first two days in order to get our rooms changed to ones with king beds. We ended up having to make do with the blue wristbands, since we were not about to pay another $300 per person. I will never use Booking.com or Priceline.com for any travel!! Now I have to see if I can contact anyone from those two companies to get my refund of the transport charges? A Total of $232.00 US dollars.

Booking.com uses classic bait-and-switch tactics online. I reserved a hotel room for what I thought was a room with two beds because I'm traveling with a friend. I obviously would not reserve a hotel room for one bed that I'd have to share with this friend. After I paid for the reservation I got a notice saying that it would be a shared bed. I immediately asked for a refund and was denied because according to them I'd agreed to a shared bed. They refused to give a refund even though it was two minutes after I'd made the reservation and all of it was done online with no labor involved on their part. I will never book through them again and will also never make hotel reservations at Radisson, which refused to do anything either.

We had a reservation booked with a hotel for about 8 months in advance and was fully paid for. 4 days before our trip we were sent a message from their app saying that we no longer have a reservation at the hotel? The hotel had closed down for a few months and for some reason cancelled all of their reservations, saying they let Booking.com know about it back in March, 5 months before our trip. We had to re-book with another hotel at a much higher cost, over $1,400 difference from the original cost. Booking.com admitted to their mistake and said they would try to compensate us for the difference because of this.
After jumping through hoops to try to provide what they needed for compensation, they said everything we provided wasn't good enough, which included receipt for the new booking, screenshots of bank account showing the money came out of our account, etc. They said we needed to provide them with a invoice saying that there was a 0.00 balance owing? Our receipt clearly showed that the hotel was paid in advance from our bank account and that no money was owed, also, what hotel lets you stay without having paid first? This was just a way for them to not pay the difference for us. I'll never use them again and strongly suggest anyone else not to use them either. If I could give them a 0 rating I would, 1 is too good for them.

Booking.com, touted as a reputable rental service, offers nothing but disappointments, lack of customer support, and an utterly fraudulent experience. My recent encounter with this platform left me feeling frustrated and scammed, as I was unable to access the property I had booked, and the customer service was completely unhelpful.
My journey with Booking.com started off promisingly, as their website boasted an extensive range of attractive rental options. However, the problems started when I arrived at the designated property, only to find myself locked out. After a long and tiring journey, being unable to access the accommodation I had paid for was a nightmare. It quickly became apparent that Booking.com had misled me by advertising a property that seemed accessible but turned out to be a sham.
Desperate for assistance, I turned to Booking.com's customer service, expecting them to rectify the situation promptly. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed as I encountered a brick wall in the form of their nonexistent support. Despite numerous attempts to contact them via several mediums (phone and live chat), my concerns were left unheard, and my frustrations dismissed. It was crystal clear that they either have a severe lack of staff or have no genuine interest in supporting their clients.
Considering my experiences, I strongly caution anyone against trusting Booking.com with their rental needs. Their practices are deceptive and their customer service is virtually nonexistent. If you value your time, money, and overall peace of mind, I highly recommend exploring alternative rental services that prioritize customer satisfaction and provide reliable support.
In conclusion, my encounter with Booking.com's rental service was an absolute fraud. The inability to access the property, combined with their complete disregard for customer concerns, showcased a lack of professionalism and integrity. Save yourself from the immense frustration and disappointment by avoiding this platform entirely.

Walked to our room and I was shocked upon walking in. The main wall where the old crooked and not centered tv was, was covered in vandalism. Someone had took a knife or something sharp and carved into the wall. Gang signs and graffiti that they did not bother to fix and repaint. The cheap looking fake wood floor was coming up and was being taped down with duct tape. The room had a dank smell and had old mismatched furniture that was heavily chipped and scratched. The pillow cases were stained yellow. One wall was black with dirt. There were no towels and the place was filthy including the bathroom. No screens.
It was the worst room I have ever seen. I paid $169 for that room. I wouldn't even of let my dog stay in that room. I immediately called Booking.com and spoke to an agent. I asked them to help me to get into another motel. Of course they were no help. They tried calling the front desk, but the lady did not answer. They tried again a few minutes later and someone picked up the phone, but laid it down. I explained that I did not feel safe to the agent. Not just with the condition of the room (bed bugs possibly, maybe ** laying around, no screens and the door looking like it could be kicked down by a child), but also with my vehicle outside and people loitering. All the agent could say is that I could leave and he would work on a refund.
I went to the front desk and returned the key. I was in the room a total of 20 mins. I went down the street and checked into Motel 6. Of course this dumpy motel will not refund me because they are lying and saying that I used the room and Booking.com doesn't seem to be any help. So I will not use them either when booking a motel in the future. It's sad that this motel takes advantage of people by portraying something else and then refusing to refund you when you don't use the room. People book from out of town and are stuck or forced to go elsewhere and pay last minute prices. It's also sad that Booking.com would have anything to do with this place. So you have been warned LOL!

We had to book tickets with other agent who clearly mentions about visa details required for countries and Booking.com is not able to see the tickets which we booked with the other agent and even customer service is so horrible. It's difficult to reach and I would really go to the consumer court as the price of ticket is ripping off our life.

Booking.com has terrible customer service and questionable practices. I was sent an email after booking a hotel in Hawaii through them. The email asked if I wanted to upgrade my accommodations. After clicking on the link to check it out, my reservation was “upgraded” to a room that only had a partial ocean view (I had a full view originally). I was then charged more money. When I called Booking.com, they cancelled the reservation and then wanted to re-book at a higher rate. When I asked to speak to a manager (at least a dozen times), the customer service representative just kept saying NO. I will never get involved with them again. You can’t trust the links on their promotional sites. Seems like a scam to get a higher rate closer to the check in date. I researched other complaints online and it seems Booking.com rarely takes responsibility for reservation problems they create for travelers.

I was told they couldn’t do anything but hotel might be able to help. I contacted the hotel. They were totally agreeable to the change but said the reservation was through Agoda not booking.com. They told me to call Agoda. I called Agoda who told me Booking.com had to make the change. Well, you probably already know that I have gone around and around with Agoda and Booking.com for the past 24 hours. They still won’t change my dates. FYI: Booking.com is a partner with Agoda, Kayak, Priceline, Open Table and more. I plan to never use any of booking.com partners again. To be associated with this terrible company does not bode well for business with ANY of their partners.

Wish I had checked online reviews before using Booking.com - I am writing to help others to not make the mistake I did. I made a reservation for two nights at Extended Stay America at Santa Rosa and we had to leave after first night; property manager approved the refund and I have since tried several times with customer service at Booking.com with no luck.
Customer service representative Abishek who spoke with me refused to copy me on email that he said he will be sending to property, said he will call the property placing my call on hold and after five minutes says property did not respond! I offered to send my bill from the property that shows my stay for one night and he would not accept it - the property has to approve for me to get the refund - this is very irresponsible behavior. Please do not use Booking.com.

I booked a room for work, for the same night, with no cancellation fee on the Booking.com app. I immediately realized after the reservation and getting a GPS route to the Best Western Hotel, that the hotel was 2 hours away from my location after working a 14 hour day. I went into the app and it gave an option to cancel but would not confirm the cancellation. I called booking.com at 888-850-3958 and Jeami, June D, informed me that "the reservation was cancelled" and "it is ok to book another reservation". I ended the call and booked another reservation through the app. However no refund would be issued by both Best Western Lodge at River's Edge in Orofino, Idaho (who charged a full rate for a "no show", because they are firm on their policies, no cancellations within 24 hours). And booking.com would not issue a refund of the $183.59 for booking.com's customer service representative mistake.
Booking.com admitted that they made a mistake. The customer service agents were from Singapore or the Philippines (because I received return calls from those two countries) and English is their 2nd language. Booking.com agents make mistakes in their verbal confirmations. Example: "It is cancelled", I found out, really means an email was sent to make an exception and it is not cancelled. Booking.com only cares if there is an electronic confirmation or cancellation. Verbal conversations with their customer service representative in foreign countries is not a valid confirmation.
I have run into several times where my room is not booked, after reserving it at booking.com. It isn't there even aft it is paid for. I also frequently have my first and last name of Brian Butler reversed. So the reservation is under the last name of "Brian" and the first name of "Butler". Again, I think the majority is from not understanding English nor western ethical culture as far as a customer service representatives word is binding. A recorded conversation with a customer service representative should be a binding confirmation, but for booking.com, it is not. Use booking.com if you want to throw away money.

I arrived alone to check in at 4:00 (my check-in time) and they were not finished cleaning. I went away for 15 minutes.
When I came back the housecleaners handed me the phone and the owner said Booking.com had double-booked the house. She sent me to a Starbucks in town to wait for them to call. It was impossible to get ahold of them by phone. Their customer service is in Singapore. They texted suggestions of where to stay that were too small or didn't allow children. It was 6pm and we were still at Starbucks (with a crying baby who needed a nap) and no place to stay. For one thing, they sponsor hotels with shady business practice. No hotel should be allowed to charge a safety deposit for probable suspicion of damage to their property. We are on the hook for this charge and have a burden of proving no damage was caused by us. The hotel has our credit card information and can submit such damages through that channel. To resolve the issue, I immediately contacted customer service at Booking.com and I was informed that my reservations had been canceled (without telling me) because I had not paid at the time of booking. Then I found another booking.com website that said they have 24/7 customer support by phone. But they don't list the phone number on that page or on any linked pages. Dishonest company I assume from a dishonest culture and country. If I was you I would skip The Netherlands. They must think their customer are stupid.

The day he pick up a car, Alamo said it wanted a credit card to put in the profile, but my cousin only use debit card and Alamo doesn't accept it. So he had to paid a higher price to rent at a different company.
At that time, He could not find Booking.com customer service phone number to cancel right away, it was also late after 10pm. He also did not have an oversea phone line since his phone doesn't work in America to call overseas customer service line anyway. The next day he resolved all that obstacles and talked to the customer service line. He spend 4 hours and try to explain everything but the Booking.com insisted that my nephew canceled too late and won't make a refund for $900. He asked to talk to manager but the clerk insisted that he can't transfer to the manager.

Booking.com is a large corporation based in Amsterdam. If you have any trouble, it is impossible to have the email address or to talk to any boss from the corporation. Phone calls are answered in Asia, with people that act as robots and cannot help you. I had 2 major mistakes with both Airflight and Hotel and I could not find anybody to complain and/or discuss what happened. I was even charged for a service that I never had. You really see how a Corporation cares about the clients in time of troubles. Try to have any "boss" or an email from Booking.com. Avoid if you can.

Their website still to this day doesn't reflect the changes we made. Had to call them 4x to get confirmation of the new reservations and the changes we made. First major problem how to contact them because you can complain only about a specific reservation. When finally I log a complaint even if I called many times I never did not receive a resolution nor a cancellation of the charge, hopefully the CC was more professional and cancelled the charges. I will never trust again Booking.com. I used Booking.com to book a small home in Oklahoma City. I booked the home 4 months before my scheduled arrival. I received confirmation from them at that time. I tried several times to contact the owner before arrival but got nothing from him nor Booking.com. After arriving in Oklahoma City, I was waiting for the code to check into my lodging. I received a call from them one hour before supposed check-in that I had no place to stay and would have to find other accommodations. After multiple calls to customer service, constantly repeating my reservation confirmation number, they said that they would find me a comparable home like the one I originally reserved and paid for. Nothing but lies. They provided me a list of hotels and said that my original payment to them would be credited back and I would have to cover the hotel stay and would have to pay any extra charges.
I am still waiting for my credit card to be credited. This company's software does not cross check with other companies (Airbnb, VRBO) so if a property owner registers his home on multiple sites, Booking.com has no clue about other activity on the property. I have made multiple other reservations with Airbnb and VRBO and have never been disappointed. I would strongly discourage anyone from using Booking.com.

They kept telling me they would update my booking, which they never did, then they kept telling me that there were no more flights available, they would have to cancel my flight, even though when I called the airlines directly they said there were flights and they would give me the information to give to booking.com.
I continually called booking.com trying to talk to a supervisor, but just kept getting the same response that they would put my request in and in 24 - 48 hours I would know what the status of my flight was. I have used Booking.com in the past with no problems and found excellent accommodations. I recently was making a reservation for December 2023, at the time about nine months before our stay, and unintentionally selected the wrong rate. This is important because I have an incurable disease and am never sure if I still be able or available to travel. I realized in minutes I had unintentionally selected a non-refundable or changeable rate. My fault and no excuses. I contacted the hotel and Booking.com immediately to rectify my error. The hotel said talk to Booking.com and Booking.com said to talk to the hotel. (A run around by Booking.com as the reservation is not in the hotel's reservation system.)
Booking.com was unwilling to allow me to change to the more expensive changeable/cancellable reservation. This was minutes after my mistake a full 9 months before the stay. Be careful if you use this site because this error is easy to make and Booking.com couldn't care less about the situation. They have your money. I will never use Booking.com and recommend anyone making hotel reservations go directly to the hotel/property. You'll receive a similar rate and maybe even a better room. As far as for me, any of my extended family and friends, we will never use this service again.

I travel all over the world and I've stayed in some low end hotels. What really bothered us about the Herruaurra VIP was the false advertising and paying for for something that did not match the description. Something is very, very off about this hotel. The thing that really bothered my friend and I, was it states it's a VIP and has a sustainability status, no way, no how, is it an environmental aware property and it's certainly not VIP. I would be disappointed in Booking.com if: 1. This property doesn't get a careful and thorough review by you. 2. My review does not get posted. 3. I'm very disappointed I didn't get a FULL refund for both days.
My friend and I didn’t feel safe, deadbolts didn’t work, there was no staff on site 27/7 and there was no reception door. The quality of the building was very cheaply made. No hot water. Far away from the center of town and the road to the center of town was very bad. We didn’t feel comfortable walking at night to the on the road: 1. It didn’t feel like a good neighborhood and 2. The potholes were dangerous. There is NO garden, it's dirt and the view is a lumber yard. The draperies were very thin and sheer so there is no privacy. Parking is limited. This hotel in definitely NOT in the sustainably category at all, not even close. My friend and I are not Prima Donnas, we're used to traveling in 2-3 star hotels. It's all the false advertising that really annoyed us. The high rating makes no sense at all. Everything we've addressed here has been addressed by other people, but they still have given this hotel a high rate. Something is very wrong here.

I contacted Booking.com and was told I'd be reimbursed within 24-48 hours. I called the motel back and asked them for assistance, they were able to tell me that it appeared that the charge did not go through and I was not charged and they would try to contact Booking.com on my behalf. It is now 2 weeks later and my card has not been credited. I contacted Booking.com several times about my charges, I have not been successful in having this situation resolved.
I called Booking.com again and they were not helpful AT ALL!!! I was told that they could not find my reservation. I gave them my confirmation number, my password and my check in number. I was instructed to go onto their website and open up a chat session with all of my information and that this is how I could possibly be reimbursed. Lo and behold, when I input my information, I receive the following error message "Sorry Something Must Have Gone Wrong on Our End, Your Reservation Cannot be Found". This is unacceptable! I cannot get any help from their Customer Support Team, either on the phone or on line. I will NEVER use Booking.com ever again. This is NO way to run a business!!! I will contact BBB and write reviews about the poor customer service. I plan to write reviews on my social media platforms. This type of service (or lack thereof) is unacceptable!!! They need to up-date their advertising and cancellation policies!

There were people camping in their cars with dogs tied to door, and there were visible drug deals being made. Went back to try to talk to clerk but there were several not so savory characters in lobby. So left property because I was concerned for my safety and the safety of my dog. We were attending a dog show at the fairgrounds. Tried calling hotel with no luck as they do not answer the telephones. Contacted Booking.com. Spoke to a representative who assured me booking would get back to me within 24 hrs and of course no response. After many emails to the property not answered, calls not answered, and a customer service call to Booking.com, I have not received a refund. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have done so. I ended up on Booking when searching for an hotel/rental for 2 adults with small dog in Flowery Branch, Ga. in April 2023. This AMAZING large property with heated, saltwater pool and 7 bedrooms popped up and indicated that for 2 persons for the 2 nights I was looking to rent would cost only $509 (special discount, allegedly)! Now, I must state that for the other listings on Booking, the rental price invariably included 2 persons for 2 nights (less taxes and any additional fees). For this grand vacation home, however, when I proceeded to book, the total came to OVER $1300!! Obviously, unlike every other listing, THIS rental home was charging $509 PER PERSON, PLUS additional fees. Their listing gave Absolutely NO indication that the $509 for 2 nights was a PER PERSON Fee.
WHAT IS WORSE is that when I attempted to use their computer system to get an answer to this discrepancy, I got the 'computer run-around' and received no answer. I then had to google how to get in touch with an agent. After a laborious search, I finally did get someone on the phone who had a heavy accent making it difficult to communicate specific letters and numbers to him. After wasting about 10-15 min.s w/him, he finally advised he could NOT assist ME w/o the property i.d no. After I and my husband had scoured the subject listing, NONE was to be found. He then transferred me to someone else who, allegedly, would assist me. A similarly sounding heavily-accented man, asked for my Booking no. When I explained my issue to him, that I wanted to rent a property, but that the total owed seemed incorrect per the listing, this man promptly hung up on me.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME ON A MISLEADING LISTING!!! Don't even go to Booking to search for any type of rental. Such is my considered, experienced advice with this company, or whatever it calls itself!!

Updated on 08/15/2023: Booking.com hasn't resolved my issue. No refund has been given, I'm owed $173.92. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get help, customer service is a joke, management is a joke, their dispute team is a joke. Spirit Airlines refunded me but Booking.com has yet to refund the money into my account. I have documentation from Airlines but Booking.com is still refusing to refund money. Booking.com has been stealing money from customers, we need to file a class action suit. Enough is enough. Stop doing business with them.
Original Review: Where do I begin? I'm starting to believe this place is a scam. (I'm only convinced it's not because they have Idris Elba as a spokesperson.) They are NO HELP when it comes to assisting you, I keep getting the same response, "We've escalated your issue", no one is calling me back, no one has answers about my refund. They read the same script over and over, it's like I'm talking to a robot (AI).
Spirit sent a refund and Booking is confused about the refund and situation. I have insurance so I'm hoping this works out, if not...thank goodness I have an attorney ready to take this to the next level. I'm trying to be patient and do things the right way but they are digging themselves deeper and I have all the documents to help support and prove my case.
Long story short, Spirit Airline left 5 passengers (including my husband and I) Spirit was delayed and late arriving in Las Vegas, our connecting flight with Spirit departed earlier than scheduled and left us (we actually watched as the plan pulled away from the gate) Next flight was 24 hours later, so our entire trip was cancelled. (It was a 2 1/2 day trip, we would have lost a day in a half if we took the next flight.) Spirit gave us a refund but Booking is acting as if nothing happened.
The worst customer service representatives EVER! I will NEVER book with Booking, this has been a nightmare for the past week. They provide no real help, they only answer the phone to confirm your booking, no manager to speak with, they aren't knowledgeable about the process. They are strictly reading a script just to confirm reservations. Don't expect to get any answers or any help.

I tried calling hotel several times no answer, I sent emails, and messages through the app with no response. I finally called Booking.com to ask why my reservation had been canceled that I booked 5 months before. I was told by an agent that the hotel in question is no longer doing business with Booking.com and canceled anyone who booked through them. I then told them I needed my money back to book another room.
After a 45 minute fight they said they spoke to their supervisor and I would receive an email shortly. I received email which stated I would receive refund in 5 days. I let 2 weeks go by and called back for another 45 minute phone, as I still did not receive refund. They told me I need bank proof and receipt that I paid plus a notification that I couldn't dispute through my bank (they allow 60 days only for dispute). I previously provided all this to them. I was then told I could book another room for a discount that they recommended, so I did.
I arrived at the recommended hotel, it was practically falling down. The building was so old paint was chipping, a single microwave was located in the lobby just sitting on a chair, the gentleman who checked my husband and I in was rude and unfriendly and we were forced to pay another $100 at check in. They actually expected us to fly to another country with no idea of how we would get to our final destination. When we asked them to just refund the money so we could book through another airline- they refused. They told us to contact the out-of-business airline (Viva Air) and ask for the refund- as these were the instructions they were given by Viva Air.
They followed that with according to Viva Air's Terms and Conditions, we have to contact other airlines. When questioned how we would contact an airline that no longer existed, they had no answer. They refused to refund our money, refused to help us book another flight, refused to take responsibility for selling tickets for an airline that was in the process of a long merger, and refused to provide acceptable customer service. I then just had to cancel my trip because I had no hotel. All sold out. They would not refund my flight. it's not "their policy". Do not use them if you want to actually go on vacation.

They charged full price and didn't provide discounted price as listed. When we called they said send screenshots and we were told it was OK and the discounted price would be applied. Later the changer there minds after it was impossible to take additional screenshots. They claimed their system doesn't know what the room they booked was. So rather than give any discount they charged full price of the room because their system had a glitch and it's the consumers responsibility to prove it with no effort on Booking's side.

So what is a confirmation for if they're going to come back later and state oh sorry we overbooked? What exactly are they confirming? Last time I use Booking.com.

I booked some flights with Booking.com. Within two hours I decided to cancel, and I called them. A representative assured me I would get a full refund if I canceled. I even called back twice, within a few hours called again, and I was still assured I’d get a full refund if I canceled. This was eight months ago. I keep calling them and all they do is say “someone will get back to me, Don’t worry they’re working on it.” I also recently just bought another round trip flight and decided to change it and even paid the extra fees for the change, the representative never made a flight ticket for me to come back home! Even though I got the email that the ticket was valid. I’m at the airport and I had to spend $1000 to buy a one-way ticket home and to stay at a hotel.
I just called them for this second incidence. One representative said she couldn’t help me because of some issues, then she transferred me, the other representative put me on hold and then hung up. Once again I’m getting the runaround. They are not a reliable company. They keep making mistakes, I am not getting any refunds, and I am losing out on thousands of dollars because of it. I will no longer use and depend on booking.

"PLEASE READ" before using BOOKING.COM....I booked a trip and used ** insurance through booking.com. Somehow the dates on my trip were changed, not by me, scheduling me a later date to return back home. I noticed the change, called customer service and they told me they could not change or cancel my reservation or refund me.... They said I had to call the airline. The airline would not refund change or cancel my trip. I had bought insurance through booking.com but was not able to make a claim due to the fact I filed a claim on the trip over because of a missed connection on the airline's part, leaving me stranded in Chicago for almost 24 hrs. Due to the mix up for return dates I was now stranded in another country....neither Booking.com, or American airlines would do anything to help me!
I had to find and pay for another flight all on my own, I had already paid for a round trip. So I had to borrow money to purchase ticket to get back home! I am using a different airline this time! Everything is a fake so they say the only way to rate your experience is the book one, they cut everything out of the review that they don’t like. For instance the room I booked look nothing like the room I got, I will show the room on the fourth floor with a balcony looking down over the pool which I gave extra money for. What I got was a room to the side of the pool. At the hotel actually had jackhammers running at least eight hours every afternoon as they were doing remodeling. Of course Booking.com if they were reliable company would have had this listed on their website and I would’ve bought a different hotel through that.
They said a hotel shuttle was $300, so I looked at rental cars. They were inflated by about $25 a day through booking.com over Expedia. Later I found out the hotel shell runs every hour and it’s $25. They are very unreliable as far as accurate descriptions. The hotel room I received that was supposed to have a nice walk in glass shower, had a old step over tub that actually had big chunks gone out of the bottom of it with nasty brown stains all over and of course a shower curtain in about half the size of the room I booked supposedly.
I guess I’m not gonna say anything bad about the hotel because the pool was nice, the live music they have every night sometimes with one guy in a guitar, the people working in the hotel were all very nice. This was in South Padre. I love the area. It could’ve been a wonderful vacation if I would not have used the booking.com. I think they a total rip off! I tried to post on Facebook but of course you cannot because it is a sponsored paid for by booking.com I guess to some of that. I made a mistake by not looking at three or four sites/and I think maybe you might be able to just book directly without using the travel website makes it easier but I’m finding that there are lots of lies on them also.

This is a terrible company who stole my money. I have traveled extensively and will continue to do so but will never, ever, ever use this company again. Booked a car while traveling in Mexico, things went a little pear-shaped (as they do while traveling) wasn't able to rent the car because of an out-of-date license. My fault I hadn't checked, and it had just gone out of date, the Mexican car company was great, I asked them about a refund via booking.com since I didnt rent the car, they said it wouldn't be a problem, reach out to Booking.com, and Booking.com would probably keep a cancelation fee. Totally reasonable.
I reach out the next day or so via the app get an initial response and then no follow-up, so I reach out again via email a couple days later (when the 'booking' was still active) and from then on they keep telling me that they are keeping 100 percent of the in-full prepayment, for a car that didn't get rented. When traveling you count on companies like these to help when things go wrong, not take 100 percent of your payment for things you don't rent. Customer service is a labyrinth, and bottom line, I can't imagine treating a customer this way. I'm not expecting all the money back, but to charge all of it, for a car that wasn't rented, is mind-bogglingly short-sighted, and anti-customer.

I am a genius level 2 member with Booking.com and this is the first issue I have had with them after more than 10 years of doing business with them. In December, I conducted a visit using their service. The property had the "genius" logo next to it which means there was a discount available if I select the property and it showed the amount of discount I would get. I selected the property as it seemed like a good deal, however when I tried to complete the transaction, the discount would disappear. I tried several times and it would always disappear. I tried on other properties and it did the same. This led me to believe it was an app issue. So I took screenshots and completed the transaction with the thought that I could speak with customer service and get corrected.
Well customer service first told me that the property needed to have the genius logo next to it to qualify for a discount, when I produce proof that the logo was there, they then stated the property was not supporting the discount. I then informed them that was an issue they need to work out with the property because the app says that they do support it. They were not willing to make this issue right, even though I requested to speak with someone who could. I will be using another service from now on because obviously, Booking.com does not know how to treat their customers.

I recently had a situation in which I booked an apartment through Booking.com. The apartment advertised a TV as an amenity. When we arrived, the TV was broken and the property manager took over 24 hours to replace the TV. When the property owner did replace the TV, they had the TV in the unopened box delivered and did not offer to set it up. My husband had to set up the new TV, discard the broken TV, and we had to store the trash for the remainder of our stay.
The property owner refused to provide any compensation for the inconvenience. I reached out to Booking.com who stated because the property owner refused to provide compensation, the case was resolved. On the phone with Booking.com customer service, they stated that owners can falsely advertise accommodations on their website. When a renter complains of amenities missing as advertised or having a poor rental experience, Booking.com will reach out to the accommodation for a resolution. If the accommodation declines to provide any compensation for any inconveniences, then Booking.com considers the case closed and resolved.
Therefore, there is no penalty for accommodations for falsely advertising or providing a poor experience through Booking.com and the renter is the one who is penalized by having a poor experience with no compensation. Book any apartment rentals through Airbnb (great customer service) or any hotels through another third party.

Booking.com tried to get ahold of the hotel and said they were dumping the card and if they didn't respond in 30min they would have to get us another comparable room and if it was more money the first hotel would have to pay for it. They would be calling me back in 30mins and sending me my first choice. If they didn't accept the first two I could pick one. First they didn't call back. I called them back when it had been over a hr. Every time talking to them I was put on hold for a really long time. We're talking like 15-20min. The first two choices were basic hotel rooms. I paid for a studio suite with kitchen, breakfast buffet, gym, outside bbq and fire rock area.
After being on hold with for 4hrs trying to find a room I found one that would work. The customer service guy told me they would take care of everything if I was over they would cover it. They tell me that my hotel is available for $276 which I thought was crazy expensive. I say, "No thanks. That is too much." So the lady on the phone says, "Let me check our other family hotels and see if I can find you something else." I tell them I really wanted that hotel but they say they have a Comfort Inn a couple blocks away that is only $150.
I am I don't know I don't know the hotel and I am not comfortable booking something on the phone that I do not know. She assures me this a hotel is a very nice hotel. I am thinking that Hilton would not recommend a hotel to me that is a dump which she assured me it wasn't. So I book it and she says no refunds. It is after midnight and I just need a place to sleep as we were on short sleep and driving all day so I say ok. I get to the hotel and it was exactly that a dump. The hotel check in was thru a window like a drive in. The lady was behind bullet proof glass. The parking look wreaks of **. There were washing dryers outside that small like gas. Yes, washers and dryers outside!
We go into the room. The room looks 1970's. My daughter starts crying and refuses to stay there. So after MANY phone calls I try to get my money back and they do not allow it. The lady behind the glass says she would give us our money back if she could. She was nice. Anyways after trying to make an arrangement and Booking refusing to do anything for me. I decide to drive to the hotel I wanted in the first place (abandoning $150) and they say, "Yes, we have rooms available and for only $125!" Not $276.
The lady at Hampton proceeds to tell me that when someone at the hotel fails to answer the call switches to Hilton's call center and if someone there does not answer the call goes to one of these booking services. She says Booking has a poor reputation and that if you contact your credit card company they are likely to refund your money. Also on the initial bill for the Quality inn Booking charged us a $60 service fee. I had no idea I was even dealing with Booking but the lady at the Quality told me.
