Scam alert! Do not use ACE Rent A Car. On December 21, 2022, my family and I rented a car from ACE Rent a Car near the Orlando, FL airport. The gentleman who worked with us, **, told us that the car had a small chip in the windshield, but that the vehicle would be safe to drive. To be clear, as you can see in the photos, the chip is very small and was most likely caused by a pebble or small rock kicked up from the road by another vehicle. Any clear-headed individual would attest that this was not user error.
Upon returning the vehicle, ACE tells us we'd have to pay $200 for the repair (actual costs for this repair varies between $50 - $150). A few days later we received an email from their Claims Representative **, with a $2,000 bill to cover the costs of, I assume, replacing the windshield. I called ** who tells me that that's just a formality and not to worry about it. That afternoon, our credit card was charged $200. Frustrated but helpless, we assumed the matter was now behind us. But alas, it was not. Today we received a follow-up from ** informing us that they want their $2,000.

I've been dying to leave this review. I can overlook a bad attitude or poor interaction with staff and I'm the last guy to take time writing reviews, but the absolute bait and switch practices of this company are insane. So much in fact that after genuine banter through the paperwork I could noticeably hear the rental agent's tone change when giving me my total. I rented a car online and was told $180 would be due at pickup.
I knew there would be more taxes/charges/fees but nowhere near what they hit me with at the counter, total ~$660 to take the car. Of that is a $300 deposit that was never mentioned anywhere beforehand, $55 to pay tolls by plate ID (which isn't a horrible idea) and $99 of their insurance that I'm pretty sure I was duped into believing was mandatory even after I gave them my personal auto insurance information. As dumbfounded as I was I had to pay it cause the location is isolated from any other rental companies and I was dropped off by shuttle. I'm shocked at their audacity to do business like this. I'm telling friends, family and anyone who will listen to stay away from this company.

I booked a rental car with ACE Miami Airport via Expedia in advance. In the early morning on November 2, 2022, at the ACE front desk, the attendant found the reservation, charged me additional tolling fees which he said that every car rental in Florida has to charge, asked about insurance which I declined by giving him my car insurance card, told me to sign the agreement on a small electronic device, handed me the car key and printed agreement including a checkout slip with nothing marked, and then told me "Just go to the ACE parking area, click the key and you will find your car”. It was not difficult to find the car and there was no attendant there. So I did a quick look around myself and saw a few scratches. The car was parked so close to another car on the left, its side mirror folded in and, even though I am a small person, I had to walk side-way to squeeze in and drive the car.
Later when arrived at the hotel, we noticed a small dent on the driver-side like the car was hit by something or kicked by someone. The dent is less visible than the scratches on the other side and it cannot be seen when one stands close to the car and see from top-down. That was the time I realized why the car was parked so close to the other car on the left while there was plenty of space on the other side in the parking area—ACE doesn’t want me to see the dent.
A week later when returning the car, I told the attendant about the dent and scratches. He walked around, agreed with me that the dent was there and they didn’t mark that kind of scratches and the dent, so he marked “Full” (for gas tank) on the checkout slip, handed it back to me, and took the car key. We left. About a week later, I received an agreement via Expedia, which is exactly the same to the copy I got except that total charge has been changed from $401.55 to $601.55 without any reason. Then I checked my credit card and saw 3 charges from ACE: $401.55 on Nov 2, $146.56 on Nov 9, and $53.44 on Nov 10.
Two days later I got an email from Rockport Auto Claims saying that she was assigned to hand my claim with ACE and that she has also emailed some documents to my insurance. I wrote an email to customercare@acerentacar.com and **, cc’ed to the person who sent me the email. I told them what happened. In particular, I said that the small dent was there and Ace parking attendant agreed with me and didn’t mark the scratches and the dent when I returned car. About two weeks later, I got a bill of $5,887.97 from Rockport Auto Claims. This is my first time renting a car from ACE (and the last for sure) and the only bad experience I ever had with any car rentals. In fact, I believe that ACE Rent A Car has commit a fraud.

Always read the bad reviews first, I rented a car at Tampa Airport for a family of 3 Ukrainian refugees who had just arrived, fleeing the raging war. I booked them a Santa Fe or similar for $103 and when they got there they were told they had a Nissan Murano, a larger vehicle and got charged $264! This is outrageous! I contacted ACE Rent a Car and got a reply saying they signed the contract (very little English spoken) and they would not even offer an extra day for free! Deal with it is essentially what they told me. I always rent with Avis or Budget, I have never had a problem with these but I will never use these again.

I had a major problem and needed to speak to an ACE representative. I left five messages in two days and never received a callback. When I returned home from my vacation, I finally reached Felix, the manager and was told (Ace Rental in Miami was having phone issues. Well, I called the 800 number which is written on the contract says it is supposed to be a 7 day a week/24 hour service!!! I’m out a lot of money because of their lack of customer service…. Their car rental sites are individually owned but they don’t tell you this…I will NEVER rent from them again!!!!

Last week we were in NY for a funeral and used ACE LGA we waited so long another rent a car place dropped us off there. When we get there they talking about they don’t have a car in our category we have to upgrade. I said we are on time for our reservation and reserved for that particular category. He proceeds to say, "I’ll give you a free upgrade." The is a basic car with a dent in the back that we received. So this week our brother passed away so we had to come back. Hubby reserved again from same ACE.
From the time we landed and got off plane hubby called and spoke to someone each time letting them know we are terminal A, It took a total of 5 phones calls and 45 mins later someone shows up. And it’s cold outside at this time. We get to the place and the guy talking about they don’t have a car for us because we are late. I said, "We landed at 3:30 and we were waiting outside from 4:12 -5:02." And he just looked nonchalantly as if they didn’t have anything to do with us being late. Granted my husband gave him his name and confirmation each call so they could pull up reservation. We had to make him process a cancellation because it said no refunds etc… Horrible service, basic cars, bad shuttle service. Just a zero all the way around. Save yourself the frustration. We went to Budget and was good.

I Natasha **, am writing this complaint in regards to Ace rental car location located in Charlotte, Nc Wilkerson Location. I have rented a car with Ace Rental car through Priceline beginning on October 24, 2022 due to my car being totaled. My reservation confirmation # **. During this time, I asked the representatives can I extend if needed longer, due to my mom being in the hospital under cancer care. I was told that I can rewrite my contract one time (1) for extension as courtesy as long as I called. The representative Kaja, told me this information, and the first time granted the extension, at my Priceline price. I then needed the car for more time, so I went to the office for a rewrite. Because, I needed an extension again, on new contract, I called in again.
At this time the representative, (manager, not sure of her title) told me I was not entitled to a rewrite, under the Priceline price. I asked her why, due to this being a different contract, and re-write, and she rudely stated that’s Not the price any longer. I explained to her, that I indeed only renting due to my mom being extremely sick, and the constant back, and forth to the hospital, the representative Kaja, told me it will be no problem, as long as I understood that it’s only one extension. She “TAWANDA”, then stated that’s wrong information, and charged my card over $75.00 for the day, and even a late charge, due to me returning a few hours late to re write.
I then made a new reservation, with Priceline to which I spoke to Winnie, on Friday evening about the charges from Tawanda, she explained she will take care of the late charges, and she comes in at 5 pm Saturday, and I can come do the rewrite with her Saturday. I arrived at 7 pm, Saturday evening to find out that Winnie called out sick, and I was left with new employees, that again called Tawanda for help. At this time, she explained that my charges will stay the same, late charges included. Because I did not want to engage in arguing back, and forth I did my new contract, and before leaving, I was told once again “It’s a new contract, I can get one time extension”.
On today Wednesday November 9th, at approximately 3:15 I called ace rental car for extension. The representative, male told me sure, & my charges was $78.59, I said ok. Shortly after, in background, a voice asks The representative a question, he tells me to hold, he then come back stating “his mistake my charge will be $358.00”. I said “excuse me”.? He then gives the phone to a woman, who does not identify herself, then tells me “the charge is $99.00 a day, that the new rate, and she had this conversation with me before”. I stated, I did another contract with Priceline, and she states it doesn't matter, and we discussed this. I then told her, it was explained I was entitled one extension, due to rewrite, and she stated “not at this rate “. I then asked her what was her name, and she said “TAWANDA”, That’s it, she then rudely stated I’m the only Tawanda Here!
In conclusion, let me be clear. This rental car location is the most unprofessional, establishment I’ve ever encountered. My cars have both been visibly damaged, the wait is outrageous, with the exception of Ms Kaja, the staff is unknowledgeable, and rude. I work from home from 9-6, and caring for my mom whom have cancer, and terminally ill. My time schedule is very condensed, so haven’t been able to purchase my new car. That’s the only reason for renting, and extending, due to a very unpredictable schedule.
This Employee Tawanda is unethical, unprofessional, irrational, and have zero customer service professionalism. She speaks to customers condescending, and rude. Not only am I a professional, retired law enforcement, and educated, I’m a human being; that when I spend my money at a establishment, I expect to be treated with respect. Whether that’s a $99.00 a day charge, or a Priceline $ 19.00 a day charge. I have spent several hundreds of dollars with this organization. Tawanda, and Her representation of this organization of a non listener, no empathy, or any customer relations skills, is appalling, and simply sad. I will return my vehicle today, and will Never rent from this organization again. This complaint is respectfully written,

Rented through Priceline for a car from Ace Rent a Car at LAX is my biggest mistake. After waiting for 45 minutes or so at the designated curb for rental shuttles at LAX, we called the company toll-free number for three times. I explained that we had been waiting for 45 minutes and no signs of the shuttles. She said they were on the way, possibly stuck in traffic. After 20 minutes, still no signs. My kids were tired and hungry, and we took Uber to ACE car lot. At the facility, the check in procedure was horrible. The representative was not friendly and insisted that I have to show him my round trip Airfare ticket. Without it, I couldn't get a car from them. I have no ideas why he needed my airfare info. Also, he was very pushy to sell us their outrageous pricey rental insurance. In short, it was a nightmare at every stop and not worth the headache and stress. I regret renting a car from them and will not come back. Stay away!

He told me to take photos to document any damage. I returned the car with full gas, no questioned asked and same charges as I was expecting. I rarely post but I wanted to post here.

I booked an economy car at $40.00 per day for 3-days with Ace Rent A Car. Upon arrival, Sylvia (lovely lady!) was quick to let me know they had none of that particular model, but she had a Bronco for 58.00 p/d. I asked for other options. She then lowered the price to $50.00 p/d and I agreed. I then was offered to have them fill the tank upon return at the lower $3.38per gallon rate. I agreed. I now am calculating in my head the total bill will be around $200.00 with taxes/fees.
Upon returning the vehicle 3 days later, I was told they would email me a receipt. I literally had no paperwork. (GET PAPERWORK from them!) I'm home for 3-days and no email. I have other emails from Ace Rent A Car, but no receipt! I check my credit card to find a bill for $305.99! I call to learn the rate I actually paid per day was $43.19 (not $40.) +$18. p/d Upgrade. The Pre-Paid Fuel charge is for a FULL TANK not a "fill up" at $54.38. They also have 2 questionable fees they never mentioned: Customer Facility ($6.75) and Concession Recovery ($25.90). I'm flabbergasted by the Bait & Switch tactics this company is blatantly practicing!

The man who helped us was nice however, when I was speaking to the representative, he failed to mention anything about gas. They didn't have options for prepay for the gas, no sign, current prices (nor did they offer or say anything.) I also read the rental agreement and it mentions NOTHING about gas. Well, they charged me $9.99 a GALLON which resulted in an additional $121 charge. In addition, i now have another additional $200 charge for no reason. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! With the rating of 3.2 at the FLL location, they truly deserve to go out of business and really should update their rental agreement.

The car was in an accident and still needed to be repaired in the front, We had no choice but to accept this car because the woman left work with no one else there. When we got in the car, it had less than a fourth of gas. Upon returning it three days later, they had us drop it off at a different location. I will NEVER rent from ACE Rent A Car again, nor will I recommend them, STAY away from them PLEASE. Forget the "discount" price, it's not worth it. On a recent vacation in Florida, my travel agent booked a rental car for pick-up at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and return at the airport in Orlando a week later. The base rate of $241.50 for a compact was decent but the fee charged for the drop-off at a different location was $200.00, twice the amount I had paid at Thrifty a few months earlier with the pick-up and drop-off locations reversed. That was not the rub, however. I was forewarned while waiting in line at the pick-up counter in Ft. Lauderdale and observing how the counter clerk was attempting to muscle an elderly female customer into buying upgrades and additional insurance she said she didn't need.
Sure enough, when it was my turn at the counter, I was subjected to the same sales pressure tactics but firmly rebuffed the clerk's attempts to sell me an upgrade, additional insurance and pre-paid gas. He was particularly insistent on my pre-paying for the gas and I made it very clear to him that I was not interested. Upon returning the car in Orlando after refilling the tank, I was surprised to discover that the clerk had still billed me for pre-paid fuel. Luckily, the young lady who checked out the vehicle offered to refund me the amount, which I verified has since been done. Needless to say, despite the integrity displayed by the young check-out attendant in Orlando, I plan never again to use the services of ACE Rent-a-Car.

I had a reservation at your Charlotte Airport location from July 5 to July 9. When I picked up the car on the 5th I asked for a one day extension. The service rep who did my extension failed to notify me that this would be and that I would be charged for 2 extra days, which is dishonest business practices!
When I returned the car today, July 11, I tried to explain the situation but they said there was nothing they could do. I then called customer service to explain the situation and the rep was very rude. I was disconnected then had to call back and explain the situation all over again. The new rep transferred me to the same Charlotte Airport location that I was standing in! This is the most unprofessional car rental agency I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Unless a acceptable resolution occurs I will never use your services again and neither will anyone have in my family.

Sorry this is so long, but there is a lot to this horrible experience! My wife reserved a car with Ace-Rent-a-Car at Los Angeles airport for 13 days beginning 27 June 2022. She reserved through VIP Cars because of their lowest advertised rate for an unlimited mileage sub-compact/compact car for fuel economy, important with the current exorbitant fuel costs since we anticipated traveling over 1,000 miles. My poor rating goes for both Ace and VIP Cars who captures customers through their advertisements! I wish we would have read the other reviews of similar experiences elsewhere by previous customers, even posted within the past month from a number of locations across the country!
We started with an "on-screen" agent who informed us that their system had "selected" a "van " for us with only a "limited" mileage allowance because we had a "local" California driver's license. I have rented cars for over 35 years in CA and many other states, and my wife has specifically rented at LAX 1-3 times a year for the past 10 years and we have never heard of such a thing. The agent was absolutely not willing to accommodate our reservation request so stated on our rental voucher for "unlimited mileage" with "2-5 doors", "4 seats", and "big enough for 2 big suitcases". Yes, the van met those descriptions but with only a "limited" mileage allowance and certainly it was not fuel efficient as was our primary need! It was not at all per our reservation request and subsequent expectation!
Instead of accommodating our request, the on-screen agent told us that we could cancel the reservation since we had not paid anything yet, and create a new reservation with the current day's rate! Yea, that makes sense - don't honor their advertised low rate and screw the customer with the current rate to give them their reserved request! (I'm glad we did not pay anything in advance because other reviews seemed to indicated that they were stuck and had to accommodate Ace! I will now monitor our credit card on file to be sure they don't bill us!) Because we could hardly communicate with this on-screen agent due to the distracting background noise, and we were getting nowhere with our request, I asked to speak with a person face-to-face which they would not allow due to the waiting line of other customers!
I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was refused by the apparent agent-in-charge! A "heated" discussion ensued as I warned the waiting customers of their poor customer service practices. I was then told by the agent to leave the property or he would press charges against me - and what "charges" might those be I wondered - getting angry because they were being rude, disrespectful, uncommitting to honor our rental request and expectation, and threatening me if I didn't leave? So we left and got into their shuttle van for a return trip to the airport parking hub from where they had picked us up.
The agent then came out and told us that we could not take the van because it was for customers only and we were not customers! Again, heated discussions ensued and he continued to threatened me with charges if I didn't leave "his" property, even after we had exited the van and were standing on the sidewalk in front of the property. He insisted that we walk down the street! Upon my request, he refused to give me either his supervisor's name or his own name, and responded instead with a derogatory comment that I would probably not even be able to spell it!
My wife and I both took pictures of him with our cell phones so we could identify him with his supervisor. A customer waiting in the van to return to the airport told us that she was appalled by the way we had been treated! A friendly employee gave us the supervisor's name who I have tried to call, but he never seems to be in. Fortunately, we contacted a competing company and got everything we that originally requested at even a lower rate, with no restrictions due to our "local" CA driver's license! With company representatives as the one we encountered and the complete lack of any professional customer service, I will never use either Ace-Rent-a-Car or VIP Cars again, even if they are the only rental available!

I had a reservation for May 24th-May 31st. I picked up the car on May 24th and drove it approximately 5 miles to the resort. Parked the car and returned to the car and it would not go into gear nor move. I tried to call the company to get assistance. It took 5 individuals and the resort concierge calling repeatedly for 1 hour before there was an answer at the car rental office. I explained the problem with the car and was told that a mechanic would have to look at the car before a decision would be made to replace it. The mechanic arrived with the same type of car. The replacement car was dirty and smelly. The exterior of the vehicle was damaged. When I asked the mechanic to write down all the damage on the document he did not. HIS UNWILLINGNESS TO WRITE DOWN ALL THE DAMAGE WOULD ULTIMATELY CAUSE ME TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE WHEN THE CAR IS RETURNED.
I was told that this was the only car that was available and I could accept or cancel. I elected to cancel. All of this was done within 2 hours of picking up the car. I received a cancellation email from the ACE rental car on May 24th at 5:09pm. I called the charge company that day to notify them of the problem. At that time, the charges were still pending. I was told to call back in 2 days. I called back on Friday, May 27th and learned that ACE rental car had submitted the rental car expense and there was still a pending hold of $300.00. The pending charge was for the deposit.
DO NOT RENT FROM TOP DRIVE/ACE RENTAL CAR. The car was returned within 2 hours. There is absolutely no reason why the rental company should submitted the charges and still have the deposit pending. There was sufficient time to cancel the credit card charges. This was the first and last time I will rent from this company. I have had great experience with Enterprise and go back to this company. Reduced car rental price do not mean you will save money. I lost time and money while on vacation. Again, DO NOT RENT FROM TOP DRIVE/ACE RENTAL CAR. I HAD TO DISPUTE THE CHARGES WITH THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY.

Moreover, they said they would look into the video evidence based on what was described but never did. Filed a complaint with the BBB. Filed a complaint with their corporate office. Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The business wanted to manipulate the situation to only offer 50% because their agent would lie to us to get our signature.
We told ACE's Customer Experience Manager we booked on Priceline. He reviewed the charges and have never made any false statement. He said he would refund on Monday since it was a Friday and he apologized for the experience. However, he didn't get back to us with a refund. instead, upon follow up, he had decided to ignore, and keep us in the dark, and while other associates promised the customer experience manager would get to us. One time it was connected, ACE Customer Manager just hung up.
We were assured that the $805 was a security deposit that would be fully refunded. We asked ACE to look at the footage and they said they would but they would not get back to us based on the video footage of what was communicated. ACE looks to get you to sign anything just to steal from customers.

Started with waiting for the shuttle. You watch a few repeat instances of other rental company shuttles passing by as you wait for Ace. The shuttle finally arrives and when you get to the rental company you are greeted by long lines where you wait at least 30 minutes. They apologize but at this point, your rental experience started well over an hour ago. Finally get the car and then there's another line where someone is or taking pictures or video of each car. Added bonus, I had paid when I reserved, they have you pay again and then refund most of it? What the heck is that? I gave 2 stars because the return was normal (easy) and the shuttle was waiting. I'll gladly pay a few more dollars for a normal rental company. At this point, I'm not sure I saved anything at all based on the second charge and pending refund. What a mess! Never again Ace, never ever again.

Needing the rental I applied the deposit to my reservation, when he told me I would get it back. I returned the car on time on April 3 and was told the deposit would be refunded.
Today 4/6 I called six different numbers to finally get with the Denver office who told me it was NOT a DEPOSIT but was for insurance coverage of the vehicle. So I paid for the car rental through Priceline and auto coverage through Priceline and now ACE told me the additional deposit was for auto coverage. I guess the good old bait and switch is still very good for BAD COMPANIES!!!! I should have known the price through Priceline was not the real price, as ACE needed $654 for a $175 rental.
To be short to the point, the counter man lied to get additional money for ACE. He probably got a commission on the additional "auto coverage" that I did not need. They would not rent me the car without this credit card deposit. I warn everyone to watch out for Ace Rental Cars as their price may seem good only to screw the customer!!!! Thank you Ace for screwing me!!!!

Then there was an additional $200 on the paperwork. Representative said it would be refunded when the van was returned. That did not happen. No answer when I attempted to call. Shame on me for not reading the paperwork more thoroughly. Shame on them for their dishonesty.

This place is a complete scam. They advertise great prices for 4 wheels drive (Toyota rav4). But when you pick up a vehicle they say it’s 2 wheels drive. Then they upgrade a car and price jump from $40 to $120 a day. We ended up with an old jeep (60k miles) for 120$ Plus tax a day. This car was in bad tech condition (Brakes and steer weren't functional). Trip from Vail to Denver took us 6 HOURS, a few times we almost got in deadly accident.Totally scam!!!! It happened not only to us, but to everybody who was in front of us on line at reservation desk. Never again!!! Only giving 1 star because I'm required before posting a review. HORRIBLE! And LIARS! Rented a car at the Las Vegas location. Desk agent said that our state (Tennessee) recently passed a law requiring that we purchase insurance. I wasn't aware of any such new law so we purchased for this reason and this reason only. Their Las Vegas office is located off site from the McCarran Rent-A-car Center and we had no other transportation back to the McCarran Rent-A-car Center to use another company.
Once we arrived home, I check with my local lawmakers. NO SUCH LAW EXIST! Also, I confirmed with my automobile insurance (Farm Bureau) that we are covered with rental cars. Company refuses to refund my money spent purchasing insurance because their agent is a LIAR. Disputed with my bank. I rented the car through rentcars.com and have filed a complaint with them against ACE. Filed a complaint with the BBB. Filed a complaint with their corporate office. Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. ACE keeps responding to my reviews claiming someone will contact me. And I'm finding they continue to lie. No one reaching out, as they claim.

So, what do you do when you are at the airport and you need a car? Rent one from another agency for three times the price. This place needs to be closed. How dare they? I had a contract with them. The agreement isn't just on my part that I pay the money. They have also agreed to provide a car. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau. Unhappy customer.

Although it looks cheap, we paid more than double the price with the experience. After waiting for over an hour at the airport, we were finally picked up at a bus. We thought that would be it, but no. After that, we took a sketchy van to the Ace Rent a Car lot. The whole time we were shoved in together. Finally, when my family and I arrived at the Ace Rent a Car lot, we were surprised to see that there were no actual people in the building besides the ‘customers’. All of the people who were supposedly working were on a Zoom call. It was a mess. To add to my suspicions, the entire store was lined with a poorly executed one-way-mirror illusion. After waiting for more hours, my family canceled our payment and ran down the road to get a new rental car.

My experience was horrendous. My family and I waited at LAX for about an hour only to be served extremely poorly. We had to take a transit to a sketchy lot, and then take a tram to another isolated site. We were packed in like sardines, so close we were touching each other. After we arrived at the site after about 2 hours, we were greeted by numerous computers. The only employees were computerized workers on Zoom! Keep in mind, this is all prior to actually receiving our car. I would also like to mention that we were not in the worst of it. Along my family’s journey, we met another individual who allegedly waited for HOURS before taking the first shuttle. Employees were unfriendly and unhelpful. Ace Rental cars may be the worst place in the State of California. Truly terrible and wretched all around.

This my first and the last time using ACE/Mex rental car company to rent a car for any reason! I booked an economic car through Priceline in Nov of 2021. When we arrived at San Diego airport around 7pm local time, we found out that ACE rental office was closed. When we were strained at SAN airport, multiple drivers from SAN airport shuttle service stopped and informed us that ACE office was closed, and we should stop payment to protect ourself. Obviously, this is a well-known fact at SAN Airport. People like us who never have experienced with ACE would never know until it is too late!
When I called ACE (they have a number posted in the SAN airport rental shuttle center), after several tries, a staff answered the call and told me that the office was closed, and I should call Priceline to complain. In order to resolve this issue, I should come to the office the next day. So, I had to get a taxi to the hotel. The next day, I called the office to make sure they still have the car I have booked. After a long wait, they told me yes and my car still there. When I showed up in the office there was a long line of customers awaiting to get their cars. There was only one person tending the desk...
When it finally got to my turn, the counter person was very courteous and he indicated to me that he was sorry about the incident. Then, he said that my car is no longer available and only options I had was to upgrade or go to other rental car place. I asked him about my prepayment to the Priceline. He said either way, I have to pay more! As a result, other than walking away, I had to reluctantly agree to pay for the upgrade which doubled the price I had paid to Priceline. When I called Priceline (multiple times), it automatically route my call to Hertz rental. Hertz rental customer service staff inform me that they have no record of my rental... another dead end. When I finally found a way to locate a warm body at Priceline customer services, they were able to refund me the Priceline portion of my payment. What a nightmare!!! I want to share this horror story with the public so that this type of nightmare will never happen to anyone else!

Let me start off by saying I do not write reviews, but this most certainly needs a review. Before you go any further just know that you do not want to rent from this company if your life depended on it. The car was rented at Fort Lauderdale and the staff was extremely rude and smartasses. We were given a Toyota Corolla with a ton of scratches and dents which I did document before we drove off with the car. The inside seats were completely stained and ripped up. The radio also malfunctioned multiple times. We went to use the car on our vacation and the front left tire was completely deflated for no reason, did not appear to have any slashes or any nails anything in it it just completely deflated. So I proceeded to call the car rental company and I got no response back from their customer service.
We put a spare tire on and returned the car the next day and took pictures of it and informed them that we were unsure how this happened the tire had just popped. The rental employee claimed that we were going to be charged if the tire was not replaceable. I went to open my email today and the rental company filed a claim against us stating that we owe over $6000 worth of damage for everything wrong with the vehicle, Falsely claiming that we were in a collision accident. The paperwork on the incident report clearly states that there was no collision accident in the car was only returned with a flat tire. According to their terms and conditions we are responsible for all physical damage for the vehicle even if the damage or loss is not due to our use. All I'm going to say is this rental company is going to get a lawsuit.

I started searching online for affordable car rentals about a month prior to our trip to L.A. A couple of weeks before our flight, I decided to go with Ace Rent A Car as my searches showed that their quotation for 6 days rental for a compact SUV was a reasonable $300.11. The first red flag was the dirty van that brought us to their office. The second unpleasantness was how there are only 3 rental counters in the office, only 2 of which were manned but only 1 was open. There were 5 renters ahead of me in line and it took at least half an hour before I got to the rental counter myself.
I did not mind that Lester, the rental agent, was chatty. He asked me for proof that I paid for the Collision Damage Insurance. Then he asked me to email him proof of my outbound flight which he said they required. I found this unusual and none of his business but I emailed it to him anyway as I was very tired from the long flight and from the wait to complete the rental. On hindsight, I have to say that in all my years renting cars, I have NEVER been REQUIRED to provide information about my outbound trip.
He then asked me to sign and initial small boxes in what looks like a credit card machine. When I asked what he was asking me to sign, he replied that it is just the usual stuff like, understanding my obligations, needing to return the car etc etc. After all boxes were signed, he printed my rental agreement which showed my total cost as $436.40. When I pointed out the difference from the online quotation, he said that it is because I need to purchase third party liability insurance. I countered that I have never been required to purchase third party liability insurance in any other car rental company that I did business with in the past. He replied that the state of CA requires it. He did not ask me if I had my own third party liability insurance and just proceeded to charge me for it.
Admittedly, I should have read everything that he asked me to sign and I did not. I still feel it is bad customer service to have a customer pay for something that was not discussed. At this point I was already very weary and was already thinking of the long drive that I had to make. I decided to stop arguing and just walk out. I spent $136 more than what I anticipated to spend on my car rental for that trip. If the company is willing to lose future business for $136, then so be it.
When we got into the car, we found it very filthy. It appears that they just sprayed water on the exterior and did not bother to vacuum or wipe down the interior at all. There was spilled coffee in both the center console cup holder and the rear seat cup holders. The company required social distancing in their office (but not in their van) but they did not bother to sanitize their product. I should have listened to the warning I was given about the company. I will NEVER recommend Ace Rent a Car.

Rental from Euro Top Rent a Car, contractor for Ace Rent A Car: Probably the worst experience I ever had with a car rental agency. I rented a car for 3 weeks with Economy bookings. They ended up by offering me a rental with Ace Rent a car. My booking said "Opel Corsa" or similar. After I complete my booking and paid reservation fee, I e-mailed both Economy bookings and Ace rent a car and asked them kindly if the Opel Corsa is not available to get me any similar car in that class BUT a Dacia car. I begged them practically not to hand me over a Dacia as I knew that brand well and I really wanted to avoid it.
Lo and behold once I got to the airport I had to look for Ace rent a car which, by the way, was unknown to everyone, for over 1 hour to locate their office 2km away from the airport. No one was waiting for us to take us to the rental company, no shuttle nothing. Eventually a driver came and took us to Euro Top Rent a Car a contractor for Ace rent a car. Well, surprise surprise... we were of course been handed a battered Dacia Logan. When we complained we were told that on that class all the cars in their parking lot are Dacias. No Opel. No other brands. Take it or leave it..( or upgrade the class for: more than double the price!!??). A shame... I will try complaining to Economy Bookings and Ace - Rent a Car...but do not expect much. Newark, NJ location Employees need more training on how to handle prepayments. I was told I would need to contact Priceline since I had prepaid for the rental. I had every email provided to me printed out. None of them had any indication on how to contact priceline. To my knowledge I did not book through priceline. I was told to search priceline in my emails. Nope no priceline. Then I had to get out of line and figure out what the lady behind the desk needed. I searched online for a number to priceline. It was all automated and did not get me the information I needed.
My husband got back in line hoping to get a better explanation. By this time the wait was 30 to 45 mins. He doesn't get a better explanation but comes back with a number to priceline. Guess what? It's the same number I had been trying to call. By this time I am panicking because they will not release a car to me unless I get a hold of priceline. I ended up calling a number on the email I was originally sent after booking the rental. Idk what he did but when I finally got back through the line for a third time they were able to release a car to me. I was extremely upset.
One guy who worked there was very nice and explained to me that they needed to verify that I was who I said I was but presenting the card I used to book the rental. The last 4 of the card number is not shown on the email so they have no way of knowing which card was used either. What makes all this worse is other people were going through the same thing I was and had no idea what they needed to do either. I witnessed it while I was there picking up the car and when I dropped it off. I feel for the people who pay the rental but can't pick up the car. It was a complete mess. I am very disappointed with the staff and service of ACE rental in Orlando. We rented a vehicle for Tuesday 09-28-21 through the following Monday 10-04-21. We picked up the small SUV around 630 pm on Tuesday. We were traveling to Deland, approximately 50 minutes away. Approximately 20 mins after leaving the rental site in Orlando the low air pressure light went on, citing the passenger rear was low (it was extremely low, at 23 PSI-all other tires were at 40+). I called the online number and got a call person who told me to just bring it back in the morning. We had plans in the morning and were hoping to continue those plans. We searched for a air pump and went to 4 different gas stations just to find each one was out of order. I called and left messages for the Manager, David to call me when he got in, in the morning. I NEVER GOT A CALL. By the morning the tire was completely flat.
I called the Orlando office again and the manager (David) said he was locked out of his voicemail. He said he had a worker walking in and would send them right out with a different vehicle. Again we had plans in the morning that we had to cancel. Again it was only an hour drive at the most (GPS put it at 50 minutes). 2 hours and 45 minutes later someone finally got to us with a different vehicle. This was infuriating as it took that long. We had to cancel more plans because of the long wait.
We packed up the new vehicle and upon pulling out onto the main road ANOTHER tire pressure light went off on the same passenger rear tire! I made a call right away and got placed on hold indefinitely. No one ever came to the phone. I had to carry a bike tire pump in the vehicle and pump the tire up on average 2-3 times a day. I continued to call and try to reach David, but he was never there. I left messages with other workers (they wrote notes, since his voicemail didn't work) and he still NEVER called me back. I returned the vehicle and left a worker with another note for David to call me and again HE NEVER DID! I was routinely ignored on the phone and by the manager (David). I am absolutely disappointed in the SERVICE and QUALITY of vehicles.

Never again will I nor my families and friends rent from this place. Customer services sucks. We were lead to or lied to purchase their insurance when it stated that it was optional. I have been renting from different agencies and have never had this problem. We provided valid drivers license and full proof of insurance, yet it wasn't enough. Knowing we have a family of 10 traveling from MN to Orlando. And temps were close to the 100 while the family had to wait outside. Not to mentioned, we have two toddlers, a 2 and 3 years old and two elderly parents. One of which needed help with mobility. Either we pay for their insurance or we were left to be stuck outside without a car in close to 100 degrees heat.
When I got home. I called and the manager pretty much backs his agent by offering us free one day rental and discounts on our next visit. And I quote; "it's already a close contract because the car is turn in and I can't even do anything about it anymore. I can offer you discounts on your next visit." Like my next trip to Florida will probably be in the next 10 years, really a discounts on my next visit. I want my 99 dollar with tax which is 117 refunded. I also called my own insurance agent and he says; "that is wrong on her part. She should be held accountable or put on probation for that. Once you showed full coverage, my insurance takes full responsibility of the car rental. And if they want something that states it covers car rentals. That means you would have to bring the 50 pages disclosure in fine prints with you while on vacation. Which my insurance agent say no one does that."
After reading some reviews, I found one similar or same case and from the same Orlando location. This one however ACE responded back to this review. "It is optional so long as we provide full prove of insurance which we did but the agent still lied and said that wasn't enough. Here is her exact words. "You do have full coverage but you "only" own a 2015 rav4 and 2001 Toyota tundra and the value is less than our 2021 cars so your insurance will not cover our car if you total our car because yours cars value is less than ours. So you will have to buy our insurance if you want a car to drive from here." Looking outside and shaking my head. I can see my two little kids crying and our elderly parents panting in the hot humidity heat. So pretty much we had no choice but to take the car or get left behind without one.

I arrived at San Diego California airport around 10:30PM. I informed the rental company that I was arriving late. When I arrived, I took the shuttle to the rental facility. I asked an employee where to find the ACE rental center. He told me it was offsite and was probably closed. I made several phone calls with different numbers that were given to me by employees to no avail. No one could give me the correct answer. So what was I to do. I am at the rental center with no vehicle. I had to go to another rental facility to rent whatever I could get at the time. I originally wanted the SUV from ACE and had to settle on a KIA car which cost me 3 times the amount of money.
This company is not reputable. They informed me to communicate with them through Booking.com which I did and then was informed I had to communicate with the rental center which was impossible to find. I want my money back and am getting nowhere with this company. They offer cheap vehicles, well good luck because they are not the best to deal with.

Asked my husband to sign a blank digital screen, not mentioning the price or any new add ons once. Then he printed off the receipt with a total of $678. I asked him about the added charges and he waved me away asking for the next customer. Completely awful experience. We argued with him and customer service online. This was literally the worst car rental experience we have ever had! We had a family emergency and we were nowhere near Tampa airport on the day our rental was due back. We called...left messages...with no response...and finally had corporate email them to let them know of the circumstances. Apparently, you have to go to the actual office at the airport to continue your rental. They claimed it was in the paperwork we signed. I found the "so called" paperwork shoved between the seats...WITHOUT my signature on it. Our rental was originally $46 a day... They informed me it would cost $200 to keep it for an extra night. Then when we received our invoice...they charged us $385! It cost us just under $700 for a 4 day car rental. I was screamed at by the manager..disrespected and belittled. When emailing billing...they completely stopped responding. If I could give this company negative starts..I would.

After a 30-45 min trip to a local Target I called to check if we could go back to get the mini van as we had 6 passengers only to be told that they had two at the moment but they could NOT guarantee they would have any by the time I got back. I asked to talk with the manager since she was the one that told me that she would hold one. But she was not available, I was told to call back in about 10 mins.
So I called back and now was told that "the two mini vans that were available just 10 mins before where no longer available they had been rented out to customers that had reserved them". I told the lady how can they get what they reserved when I was still waiting to get what I had reserved. She told me she was sorry, and would send an email to the manager. Terrible experience. I got a great rental deal through Priceline at $10 a day. I should have known it was too good to be true. The price was for a car of the dealers choosing, which I didn't mind. Even a compact is good for getting around. When I got to the desk, the girl informed me that they had no more cars and that I would have to pay more to get something that they did have. I told her that I shouldn't have to pay more for a car because they were supposed to have one for me. She finally came back and said that she had a car and brought it out. It had dents all over it. It was filthy inside...looked like someone exploded dandruff all over the headrest. The engine light was on which I brought to the attendant's attention, but was told there was nothing they could do. So I drove this car for the weekend because I had no other choice. The brakes were grabbing the whole time.
Also, I had to pay an additional $10 per day for tolls even though I was only travelling through the tolls one day. We were bringing the car back an hour later on return day so they charged us another day. I travel once a month to Orlando and have never had a car rental place that was this bad. I will attach pictures of the check engine situation at the end of this post if it is allowed. Also, if you are looking to get to your car quickly, don't rely on the shuttle being speedy. *** First, READ ALL THE REVIEWS *** I've rented from approximately 20 Car Rental companies in Florida. And by far, this is the worst place ever! I have no words to describe their lack of service. I made the mistake of having not read the reviews when I rented from ACE. My experience: I made a reservation to pick up a car at 11:00pm near the MCO location. I had called them twice prior to confirm - both times they assured me that all would be ok.
As soon as I picked up my luggage, I called them (ACE). I was on hold listening to their hold music. All I could do is hope that someone would pick up. I was at the shuttle pickup area (B12) at 11:10pm. I saw so many other car rental shuttles come and go, but not ACE. Another customer showed up at 11:30pm. They too were also told that there would be nothing to worry about. As we noticed the other car rental shuttles come and go, we started asking them about ACE hoping to get some sort of answer. We finally spoke to someone from another car rental company who gave us information – we were told that at 11:20pm, ACE was already closed. That explains why I was on hold for over 50 minutes.
Conclusion: WE WERE LEFT STRANDED! What a horrible feeling. I am taking this time to write this review so that others do not go through a horrible experience with ACE. The positive reviews here cannot be real. Spare yourself the HEADACHE! *** PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM ACE CAR RENTAL *** Even their response (customer service) to the bad reviews, “We apologize for your experience and thank you letting us know about this issue”, are repetitive and ridiculous. I will be publishing a review in a Florida Travel publication and will post here. It will contain names, more information and pictures. *** AGAIN – DO NOT RENT FROM ACE CAR RENTAL!!!! ***

Having used Expedia many times for hotel rental I decided to use them for the car rental. According to the receipt he was to pay $148.57 upon pickup. Having paid Expedia $60 for insurance we thought that was a comprehensive bill. My son called when he left and let me know that he'd been charged $466.93 by ACE. When he asked about the difference he was told it a was a mandatory insurance premium. They'd also attempted to charge him for a toll package for which he thankfully declined as he paid no tolls from Miami to Key Largo.
Now, he has since been refunded $200 for a deposit bringing his difference to #118.36 but for a college kid on a budget this is big money. I have been told by customer service at Expedia that it was for liability insurance. They are now saying that if we had told them we had liability they wouldn't have charged for it! Don't they usually ask?! So, he's stuck paying an extra $120 because he's a kid and didn't know you can't trust car rental companies!

Got a car from this company since I wasn't paying enough attention when renting from rental cars.com. It was very far from the airport but otherwise seemed ok: at least I was allowed to return it to the airport directly. However, the guy took me around the car to look at damages but never mentioned that they expected the car to be returned as CLEAN as it was at pickup--and after driving back and forth on a 10-mile dirt road in the West Boulder Valley, it certainly got dirty on the outside. NOTHING that hadn't happened several times a year for the past 20 years visiting my cabin outside of Livingston in all of my other rental cars--and nothing that a $10 car wash wouldn't take care of.
ACE charged $75 for cleaning and the manager had the audacity to attempt a mansplaining lecture on "personal responsibility" which I unfortunately didn't have the 20 minutes required to appreciate. Clearly this company needs to update its policy or make a MUCH bigger effort to take personal responsibility for communicating it. Here's standard car rental policy from a 16-yr industry veteran: "The only situations a rental company might assess a cleaning fee would be for severe interior cleaning requiring a significant amount of downtime to address. This would be things like: excessive pet hair that’s gotten woven into the upholstery, smoke odors in non-smoking cars, fish odors".

Why offer better rates than the other companies if you aren't going to have vehicles avail. for people that booked in advance? Seems like a bait and switch. Updated on 09/27/2020: Ace Corporate contacted me after my review telling me to contact the Ace Car Rental in Jacksonville for resolution. I told them I did and I have not heard back from them since. My dispute is not resolved and I strongly suggest based upon my experience and others on the CA website, stay far away from Ace Car Rental. I stand by my title which says, “Awful... just awful”. Use another company, as my insurance agent said “a reputable company” and save yourself a headache.
Original Review: I got in around midnight and took the airport shuttle to Ace which is located off-site of the JAX airport. I was never given the opportunity to dispute this (they just put in a $5000 claim citing "slight damage") but the car was given to me in the dead of night and the lighting is not very good in this off-site location. It's actually not a great area and a little scary and I just wanted to get out of there to be perfectly blunt. But I was later told that the car was damaged when I returned it. First of all, so many of these cars at Ace Car Rental are pretty worn out. Once again, just my opinion. Initially, the "slight damage" bill was for $1100 dollars but then a "new bill" was created where I had to pay 1750 out of my pocket and my insurance company paid the rest of the "new" 5000 bill.
If I didn't pay this they were referring this to collections and they were charging an additional 30% fee guaranteed to destroy my good credit. There was nothing I could do. The agent was not nice and basically said "pay us or we will destroy your credit". Once again, I still don't know whether I did the damage but that just doesn't seem to matter; I owed them $1750, no questions asked. I thought they were being unethical but I got this confirmed by two insurance agents who stated the following:
"This company (Ace car rental) is not operating in a fair business manner. The charges that they are requesting are not reasonable. We really do not know how to advise you, possibly if they charge your credit card you could contact the credit card company and dispute the charges, so maybe they can charge it back to them." and "They are charging you the cost of doing business. They cannot even explain these cost. When we asked to provide a breakdown they could not, They cannot explain the Admin Fee or how they calculated the diminished value. They are charging an appraisal cost, which is their cost of doing business." Also, "diminished value is not recognized on first party claims in the state of Florida, which a rental is considered. So that should not even be charged."
Now you know why when I go back to Jacksonville, I will be getting my car from one of the well known chain companies at the airport. I tried to support the "little guy" and I will with other ethical companies, but I am not going to make this mistake again with Ace Car Rental. I am also sharing my experience with the travel companies I use, the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs and the Florida State Attorney General. This is my opinion based upon my horrific experience. Date of travel: January 2020

I have dealt with bad car rental experiences before. I believe bad experiences are normal for discount car rental companies. However, this was by far the worst car rental experience I ever had in my life. Hear me out, I'm trying to help unsuspecting customers. I started off excited about getting a great deal on a 4WD mid sized SUV for my winter skiing vacation. When I arrived in Denver, ACE had a longer shuttle wait than their competitors, some who had 2 or 3 shuttles come before I got picked up. Oh well, no big deal. Next when I got to ACE, I was one of 3 customers to get dropped off. I waited for around 30 minutes before talking to a customer service representative. At this point, I'm still not annoyed, I've had worse. When I finally get to talk to someone, I am informed that the car I reserved is not available. Also, since the drive train is not guaranteed for reservations, I need to pay about $100 more to upgrade to a 4WD vehicle if i want one.
I reluctantly take the upgrade since I'm going into the mountains and I'm left with no other option. Rather than escort me to my car, the rep points westward and gives me some paper with a license plate number. I scour the parking lot with all my luggage and I don't find the car. I do find a car that happens to be the same model I reserved just sitting there though. I already charged my card for the other rental and finalized the paperwork at this point and I'm late to meet my friends who all got their rentals and are at a restaurant already, so I get my Hyundai that's coming out of the car wash (it was not in the lot where I was told to look for it because it was still being cleaned).
I used and returned my car. The rest was painless enough. Two months later, I get a random charge on my card for about $60. I call to find out why and I am immediately put on hold after explaining why I'm calling. I'm on hold for over 90 minutes and I know the normal business hours ended 15 minutes ago. I'm sure other people out there could tell a worse car rental story, but for me this is rock bottom. I would never deal with this company again. I hope you don't deal with ACE either.

On top of all this, they tell you to check the car for damage, but it is so dark that you're likely not going to see any damage. I will never rent from this company ever again.

For an airport van rental, I would expect some leniency with our arrival time. Here's the list of fails:
2. At IAH- the Info Desk said "take the [generic] shuttle to all car rentals = WRONG!
3. This ACE Rent a Car is off the premise and you need a separate shuttle = THERE WAS NO INFO PROVIDED TO US AHEAD OF TIME!!!! **.
4. Upon calling frantically at 6:05pm...NO ANSWER, NO HELP, NO SUPPORT. I finally reached someone in customer serviCe, who transferRed me to another voice mail where I could express my complaints = what good it that! I needed the rental ASAP.
5. Finally rented another vehicle from Alamo and the attendant said "we've been getting a lot of ACE Rental Customers here today for various reasons...."
Pathetic.

I had rented a car with Ace Car Rental in Las Vegas. Prior to showing up, we had made a reservation over the phone with an employee. The quote had had given us came to a total of $259 USD. However, he was unable to add the underage driving fee and full insurance coverage in the quote he emailed me. He said that, "those were fixed prices and that you can just add it when you get to the rental desk. Your total bill when you pick up your car will be $259." When we got to the car rental place, we were charged almost double the quoted price, of $500 USD! I was so shocked, however, we had to take the car rental since our plans were dependent on it. I do not understand how a company can mislead their customers. In addittion, the car that we had did not feel clean, and had expired registration. Even after trying to contact the company, they still did not get back to me.

We rented a minivan on our vacation in Tampa Florida. We arrived on time, and when we went to get the car, it was a huge 15 passenger Van! They gave our minivan to someone else who was 5 hours late. We had to go back upstairs, go through a whole ordeal, before they rented us a different car to fit our needs. The man working with the cars was rude, aggravated towards us, when it was the clerk, Shawn’s, fault. Very unprofessional, especially after traveling all day!

I’m extremely disappointed with the entire ACE experience. For starters, my family and I arrived at the ACE rental car facility in Orlando to find a filthy waiting room. The chairs, floor, etc. were disgusting and in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The customer service agents were rude not only to us but to other customers. They clearly were not happy to be there. We were forced to take liability insurance even though we have our own personal car insurance. We have never had to do that before and we rent quite frequently on vacations. When the agent was questioned about this, her reply was “well, I can cancel your reservation“. Considering we were offsite from the airport with no other transportation, we had no other option but to proceed.
We weren’t given a choice of vehicles and when our designated car arrived, it was filthy. Obviously not detailed from the previous renter as there was caked on gum on the back door panel in clear sight. I will not being renting from ACE ever again and will not recommend to family or friends. Tact, customer service training and pleasant personalities were clearly missing.

I booked a full size SUV at Orlando Airport through Priceline. Once we got there, they said that they did not have SUV but compact car. They said that we booked as a post-paid and no guarantee and even if had prepaid it still no car. MY wife insisted and was about to make a scene and suddenly the woman said, "Wait, let me check back there and see if any car has been returned." In 2 minutes she came back and said yes there is returned. And right away there was a midsize SUV carwashed and ready outside. They knew they had it but wanted to give us a compact instead. They offered me to buy a Sunpass for $10.00 /day which I did. They said this way you can go anywhere with peace of mind. To my surprise, after a week we came back I got an invoice for $62.61 for tolls. I called them up and they said the pass covers Orlando only and not Miami. Sunpass can be used anywhere in Florida and even in Georgia.

If I could give this place a negative 5, I would. Places like these should not be in business. For the owners/business management team, please reconsider how you run your business! How do you manage to stay in business, I'm not sure but I'm sure it has to do with all the fees you charge on top of what gets quoted online! When you see and read all the horrible reviews, you've got to take it seriously and make the necessary changes. Customers keep you on business!
We arrived and was quickly taken care of but just as quickly as the customer service lady tried to get us the car we reserved through Booking.com, it was all downhill!! First they there is a 250 dollar deposit if using a credit card. If it's a debit card the deposit doubles to 400!! Secondly there is a 25 dollar "nonrefundable" fee!!! Why?!! This was not disclosed until we were there! Third they never even asked if we'd like to use our own insurance. I had to ask! Then they refused to use one of our insurance because the car was too old. I explained I have full coverage for both cars under my name! Fourth they tried to tell me that a toll pass of 10.99 would be best if I wanted to avoid fees for tolls. If I happen to go through tolls without the pass I could be charged 50 plus dollars!! Needless to say, we canceled this reservation and took a Lyft ride to our hotel.
Next morning, we went to Enterprise and got a car with absolutely no problem or extra added fees! It was a 20% deposit, they took my insurance and their toll pass was 3.99. We declined it as we were mostly staying local to the Orlando area. I work in sales and customer support for almost my whole career and while the lady helping us was not rude, she really wasn't any help either. Every time I asked why, she would respond, "it's company policy".
There was a family sitting in the waiting area and the whole time he was yelling, "I'm reporting you guys to the BBB! You guys are scammers!".. Needless to say it was an exhausting experience! Never again will I ever use this company. Stay away at all cost! I will review this rental place everywhere I am able to so others won't have to waste their time!!

Not so. We were charged $18. We were made to purchase added insurance for the vehicle $254 then $191 for additional deposit. $181 taxes & recovery fees. I think you get the picture. Do not use Hotwire or any other discount pricing to rent your car. It is a combined scam. Just use Hertz or Enterprise. You will save huge amount of money. I was there on business and I was one of them that had to eat the cost. So yes it was troubling to me also.

Ace Car Rental is horrible. Dealt with Jessenia at pickup...was to open at 7AM. She showed up at 7:36 AM, me sitting at entrance and didn't inquire to help. Sat at desk, moving things around... When I walked up, I asked,"Are you open?" She said, "Yes, what do you need?" Really? Of course no one has insurance that is good enough so you're forced to buy theirs, yet they blame it all on the third party sites we rent through. When I got to the car, scratches down the side, etc. Good thing I took pictures as I wouldn't put it past them to try and blame me for them to get more money. Return was easy since it was early morning and no one to deal with.
Called after I dropped car off about the $150 refundable fee, spoke to Shaun in Tampa. Jerk from moment he picked up phone acting like I was wasting his time and should know all the answers to the simple question "when is the $150 refunded?" 7-10 days. Every car rental service I have dealt with does it as soon as the car is returned and checked out for issues, sometimes I have had the refund back in my account before my flight leaves.
Called back day after and got Darrell to ask about insurance coverage. Another "know it all" who thinks customers are idiots. Got no answers except the same canned replies. Spent 30 minutes on call including multiple pick-ups, immediate holds before 10 minutes of no help. The only thing he could do is blame the third party online rental companies. People...take your money someplace else even if it is higher rates. We do have power and it is called "choosing to spend our money someplace that respects it's customers."

The rental company requires me to take the renter's liability waiver. I refuse. He forces me to take the option of $19.90 per day; otherwise he don't give me the rental car.
Having no choice, I was forced to take the option. Once the vehicle is returned, I ask if I had the obligation to take the option with his colleague. The latter informed me that the option was not compulsory. I sent a complaint email 2 weeks ago, of course no response to refund. To conclude, I had a prepaid voucher $97,67, but finally, I've paid $271,50! So, $173,83 more ... Shame on you Ace. I wanted to save money, the opposite happened. I almost pay triple. On a recent visit from New York to Orlando, I rented a car from ACE for the first time. Good rates but horrible, rip-off service!! Once arriving from my flight in the evening, everything went Okee Dokee until it came to the insurance sign-off. The agent asked if I'd like to take their insurance and I told him that I was covered with my Allstate. I was told that, since Florida was a "No Fault" insurance state, I had to have proof of my own insurance. Even though I had my insurance card, I was told that it was not enough proof. I then said I could call my insurance company and have them fax or email a copy of my coverage. I told them that, according to the New York State Attorney General, that covers these gypsy rental agencies, this was unlawful. Refusing that, and having to leave for a seminar, I had no alternative than to accept their option.
Long story short, I ended up paying an additional of almost $100.00 to rent their car. Do NOT rent from their company!!!! They're reasonable on the front end but they scam you once you arrive. I rented a car from Ace Rent a Car Tampa Airport from 1/1 to 1/8. Driving south on the freeway I noticed the low air tire warning light was on. I stopped at a rest area and determined it was the right rear tire. I called the Ace customer care number the next morning. I offered to drive the car to the Ace location in Miami to get a different car or get the tire replaced or repaired. The Ace rep said that I could not get assistance in from Ace in Miami because the Ace locations have no connection or working relationship. He transferred my call to the Tampa location. They would not pick up my call.
I then called the customer care number back and they now would not answer my call. So, I drove around a week with a soft tire and kept filling it up. I wasted a lot of time and sometimes felt nervous driving on the freeway. After I returned the car I wrote an email to the company and asked for a small refund. They said I caused the tire problem (not true) and they said that I did not leave a message on their answering machine when they did not answer my phone call. But, I did write an online message to them at the time, which they never acknowledged.

I give the ACE rental at RioNegro, Medellin Airport one star because I can't give Zero. The office is not in the terminal as advertised. My daughter had to call the man to pick us up. He came in a Chevrolet Aveo -- I had rented a month in advance, a large car (Renault Fluence). The Aveo was two sizes smaller, old, with many dings. Of course, since it's Christmas week everyone is out of vehicles, I have to take this car or be stranded. The agent then tries to sell me ACE car insurance, because according to him, the insurance I purchased would not pay for repairs done in Colombia. I would have to pay and be reimbursed. I had purchased the Expedia insurance and did not buy extra. I have to take this car.
I am charged $14.55 more for this car, even though the exchange rate on my receipt divides to the original agreed to rental amount. We find out half way through Medellin the air conditioning doesn't work. My daughter contacts the agent, first he says it works, then he tells us to get it fixed and for us to pay for the repairs and he will reimburse us-REALLY. Then he says he will send someone to fix it. We are 3 hours outside of Medellin in a gated community at Christmas, I am not having strangers come to this property. The car gets parked for two days because it is not safe to drive it where we are at--it's too small. When we get back to the ACE office, we are charged another $10 to have the car washed. I called Expedia several times over the time period but no one at Expedia could communicate with ACE because the Expedia employees did not speak Spanish. I found this to be unacceptable from Expedia.
Back at the ACE office I asked for money back for the wrong car and no air conditioning. The agent was condescending and rude. He had a story or excuse for everything. Nothing he or ACE did was wrong according to him. We finally agreed on $55 but was only returned about $43. I had specifically asked him if it would the full $55 and he said yes. ACE told Expedia that this was placed om my credit card but the agent refused to do that. Instead he had to have a bank account number from Colombia. So my daughter, who is living in Colombia, provided hers.
On our trip back to Medellin, we had three people and three large pieces of luggage. One piece of luggage had to go in the back seat. At one point I had to stop quickly. My daughter grabbed the luggage and re-injured the shoulder she has been having physical therapy on. My husband gets car sick easily and had to take medicine (which also affects him adversely). He was sick all the next day. If this had been in the United States I would have recorded my experience. But since this was Colombia, SA I did not feel safe to do this. Terrible experience. Use a different car company. Avoid ACE you have been warned.

My initial contract was for 60$ with 3 days rental. They added 30$ and gave me 200 miles. When I cross checked it was said 30$ included with tax so 200 miles. Once I started asking to add more miles Ace manager started saying she can't help once contract is signed and I ended up extending one more day with $30 + taxes for additional 200 miles. Original: Rented on Hotwire $86 for 3 days. Got there and they wanted to so-call give me a $74 discount but then they tacked on a $24 a day charge for Collision no choice. I had called 3 days later to ask for an extension on the car and was given one but wasn't told that there would be a $200 extension fee. I called every number they provided including the one that called me trying to charge $114 for the car coming back later than what they had put in the system which was their fault on the day I extended it but they did remove that charge. So to run down my bill 5 days was @ $6.28 a day to rent the car. However below is the rest of the bill.
Rate charged $36.72Rate charge discount -$14.13
CDW Full (cars only) 224.91
Extension fee per management approval $200 State tax $31.50
Florida surcharge $10
Concession recovery $53.31
Vehicle license fee $11.25
Customer facility charge $17
Energy surcharge $4.50
Trip Fee $7.25
Rental surcharge $10
Total charges $592.31
Might I add that when I did the extension they never told me there was a $200 fee for the extension. If I would have known that I would have driven the 2 hours to take the car back that same day and rented a car from a different rental place it would have been way cheaper even though it was the holidays. I have called 888-627-8227 and left a message. Called 844-874-3966. They said they dont handle the Orlando store because it is private owned. I also called the number that called me and tried to charge 114 saying the car was late and it wasnt. They removed that charge that number was 407-802-4286. Stay clear of this place. Trust me it will save you headache, money, and time. Read reviews which this once I failed to do.

This is the worst car rental company in Orlando, never rent a car from them. Who cannot accept (which is absurd as all other companies accept) the CDW Mastercard and the LDW if you pay with it. The deceit and the bad service are guaranteed in this company.
At any time when booking through the Priceline rental site you are advised that insurance will not be accepted. I am so mistaken and I will look for a lawyer to check these issues. Another negative point is about the SunPass that they try to push you for 10 dollars a day, if vice doesn't want it because you already have yours, you will not be able to register the plate on your sunpass so you will be required to pay the 10 dollars for Company sunpass day. They said they didn't have any in stock, and the guy next to me and behind me had the exact same problem. I don't think it's any coincidence that 3 people were all sold higher priced vehicle classes then given sedans or minivans to folks that prepaid for an SUV. In total I ended up spending over an hour with these ** and had to pay extra to fix THEIR mistake by renting a higher priced vehicle that I wouldn't have preferred over a normal SUV.
I will never rent from this company again, and I would highly recommend you do not prepay as then you will have no recourse when they screw you over. Picked up my car. Had had three scratch marks on headlight. No probs. I took it anyway. Got a great reputation with all my rental companies. Day of return vacuumed and washed exterior and wet wiped the seats as travel to country had some hay and oats remnants and anyway he came at me. Said, "You wet seats. I can't rent it today" and I said, "So sorry. Won't do again. I just wet wipes seats with cloth". And they kicked up a stink and said I had to speak to supervisor but truly all they had to do was put a towel to dry it off yet I was vilified for returning clean vacuumed with full tank and Seats were merely wet wiped with chux as I am a clean fanatic.
Anyway I jumped in the bus to airport as had a flight and they were still trying to approach me about it. Lucky my bus driver just took off. He said they'd rather I leave car dirty. Oops at least I know for next time. My other companies were fine with me wiping the seats down. Lol. Can't do anything right. Will not go back to Ace again. I'm sure they were just after my $250 bond. I'm sure I won't get that back!!!

After waiting in line for almost 1.5 hours and watching several disgusted customers walking away without a car rental, I got my chance at the counter. I presented my driver's license, proof of insurance and credit card. The woman behind the counter said she could not accept my insurance because it didn’t say what I was covered for and that I would have to pay over $50 per day for their insurance coverage. I asked if I could get onto their wifi and I could download a copy of my insurance showing the rider I have covering non owned/rental vehicles, after looking up from her computer she said they didn’t have wifi! They came up with every excuse not to accept my insurance just to get me and everyone around to pay extra for the insurance. I went back to the airport and got a car from Dollar, no problem, no hassle and no extra insurance. They took my insurance without question. STAY AWAY FROM ACE!!!!

I book a rental car with Hotwire and was quoted a rate of $78, not including taxes and other fees, for four days. When I got to the counter in Ft Lauderdale, the agent mentioned that I needed to purchase insurance from ACE Rental. I told him I have rental car protection with Geico and it covers liability and collision. He asked if I had a copy of the declaration page, which I didn't. However, I pulled up my policy online and showed him where I was covered. He proceeded to say that ACE cannot accept my insurance because the value of my 2001 Toyota 4Runner is not sufficient to cover the replacement of the rental car.
At the time I didn't give it much thought and said okay. After that he suggested that I might need the EZ Pass as there are a lot of toll roads in Florida. I was not familiar with the area so decided to get this at $9.95 a day. Also, in the contract there were other charges such as Glass and Tire protection $2 per day, Handling Insurance fee of $3.95 per day. All in my final bill on the $78 quoted rate ballooned to $237.
I slept on this overnight and it did not feel right. The next day I went back to the rental location and contested the insurance after speaking with GEICO the night before. The manager said she would give me a $50 credit and the credit will reflect on my credit card within two to three weeks. It has been six weeks and counting and yet to get my credit. The cost of my car rental for four days was double the amount I thought I originally booked. Misinformation or no information regarding additional drivers, miscalculation of upgrade, misinformation about time to return (must be to the minute of a twenty four hour return or you will be charged a late fee) are just a few of my complaints. After talking to the representative about the above issues, she only refunded my late charge. I will never go through Hotwire again as they too have fees unaccounted for in final booking. The agency I rented the car was: Ace Rent A Car Orlando - 7652 Narcoossee Rd. STE B Orlando. My first impression when I arrived is that the place was dirty and disorganized. Worst than that, I had to wait almost an hour in line with two kids. I informed the agent that I had insurance through my credit card and the agent informed me that I was required to take out insurance with them and the value of the insurance was greater than the value of the car rental itself. Complete nonsense.
After that they almost made me pay a daily pass to pass the tolls. I did not accept it. The vehicle did not have a full tank and had several scratches and bumps and had a red light indicating engine trouble on the dashboard all the time. I was informed that it was nothing important that I could go on with my family. I arrived in Orlando on June 27th and delivered the car on July 5th, 2019. On the delivery day, everything was very fast and I delivered the car normally without any problems. Since then I never wanted to hear about this company again. Never.
Behold, today, November 14th, 2019 at 11 am I receive an email from Square (not from the Ace Rent A Car) charging me $ 28.15 for violating toll ACE-29451. How could I have been in June 2019 in Orlando and received a charge 5 months later? It makes no sense. I'm still afraid of being scammed. We rented a car from ACE at the Tampa Airport. The rental was for 4 days. The online rate was approx. $20 a day. On top of that they add the required taxes and service fees. The total bill should have come to $155.91. After waiting in line for over 30 minutes while ONE agent attempted to assist everyone; we finally got our car. Unfortunately, our outbound flight a couple of days later was delayed. I called ACE to see if we could keep the car for TWO additional hours, or did they need the car back. The agent said no problem keeping the car. We returned the car two hours late and was hit for another $73.70 (on top of the original $155.91). I thought it was a mistake. When we landed, I attempted to contact ACE. I first called the national number and after patiently explaining the issue; was told they couldn't help me, and I would have to call the local office at the Tampa airport.
Over the next 3 days, I attempted to contact the Tampa office. When you get transferred to "billing," you will receive a message that the mailbox is full and to call back at another time. Finally, after a dozen unsuccessful calls, I opted to select the "reservations" option at TPA. I spoke with an agent who explained that ACE doesn't bill by the hour...only by the day. She went on to explain that my "online rate" didn't apply to the additional two hours and the rate had increase to $44.66 a day (not including the administrative taxes/service fees). She couldn't answer my question how the rate could go from $20 a day to $44 a day. She also couldn't explain why I wasn't informed that I would have to pay for an additional 22 hours at a higher rate.
I've rented cars from a number of established agencies (Hertz, Enterprise, Thrifty, Dollar) and have never encountered an issue like this one. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME RENTING FROM ACE RENT A CAR!!!! On a positive note...every one of the agents I spoke with was pleasant and understanding. I booked my rental from Canada and brought along a separate form from my insurance company stating that I was covered for rental cars. (I have liability and collision.) I was not given an option to sign a waiver. The charge for extra insurance was almost double of what I paid for my initial booking. I took a shuttle to this place. The agents were smug. There was a family there who had been waiting for 3 hours- with a pregnant woman and a baby- they were promised a vehicle and it wasn't there. The agent changed my car...saying it was "an upgrade" but, within an hour, the indicator told me that I needed air in the tires. I've been having to stop constantly to fill them (because the caps on 2 of the tires are missing I'm guessing?) and the car is saying that it needs regular maintenance. I'm afraid to drive it anywhere and I don't want to deal with the smug agents. I took pictures inside and out all over before I drove away because they gave me the hustler vibe.
I'm always wondering if reviewers are just hormonal or cranky...you can guess that that's who I am too, but if I didn't write about this experience, there may be more pregnant people with babies waiting for hours for their vehicle and single Moms trying to be budget conscious, getting dinged with extra fees and no power to stop it.

I booked a rental car online for 2 days thru Ace Rental Car, approximately 3 months in advance at the Miami airport location for a total of $72 plus another $22 ($11 per day) for 2 days of highway tolls or roughly $94. There I encountered a desk attendant named "Lucky", who I presented a copy of the contract to. He didn't even bother to look at the contracted rate printed out. He then asked me to place my credit card in the machine to approve the final payment. That's when "Lucky" himself inadvertently and in deceptive fashion reached over the counter from behind his position at the desk, pressed the green okay button in the credit card machine confirming a base rate of $135 or $63 dollars HIGHER than the original contract.
He never allowed me to look at the amount first, which clearly I would've never agreed to. I then insisted to Lucky that I'd like a copy of that contract, since I wasn't able to review the final charges myself before he pressed the okay button for me. After reviewing it, I then realized how he had overcharged me. He did subsequently refund the difference back to my credit card, only because I caught him doing this. But he also originally confirm the higher rate, which then forced the difference to be given back in the form of a refund. Had I not been paying attention, this man would have succeeded at charging me nearly twice as much as the original base rate I contracted months in advance for. You cannot trust this company. - They require you to show not only proof of insurance, but also your policy coverage. That's right, you must carry it with you, call your company (if during normal business hours) or log onto your policy provider's site and then show them your policy. If you don't, they will charge you $35 / day for coverage.
- After showing my coverage, the agent told me I would need to purchase an additional $9.95 in coverage to make up for my $1,000 deductible on my insurance. Such a joke. After all the above and the wait and the frustrated customers in front of me, I was through.
I booked this through Hotwire and I have already called to express my concerns that they even do business with this company. It is absolutely awful. My husband and I rented a vehicle from the ACE Ft. Lauderdale location through Hotwire on 9/14/19 and it was an abysmal experience from the start. We arrived on an evening flight around 10:20 p.m. with our 18-month old. There were no signs in the Ft. Lauderdale airport that directed you to the ACE pickup spot so we had to ask other car rental representatives (Hertz) where the pickup location for ACE was. We were advised by them to call ACE to let them know that we had arrived, as if they don't have consistent pickup service.
We head outside in the humid 85 degree FL night weather to stand at a bus stop with no seats with our 18-month old. We called ACE (only to have someone answer after the third or fourth attempt) to let them know that we had arrived and they said they have a shuttle that comes every 20 minutes. After 25 minutes of standing outside at the pickup point and watching other car rental shuttles make at least two pickups in that time frame, we called again. This time with about 5 or 6 attempts and to no avail, no one answered. After a long work day, an evening flight with an 18-month old, and several bags of luggage we expected to be picked up in a reasonable amount of time. Especially since we were told that the ACE location is only about a mile away from the airport.
So, we wait about 10 - 15 more minutes and after another round of attempts calling ACE with no answer, we called Hotwire. We requested that they either cancel or change our reservation as we didn’t want to be left waiting any longer outside with our baby and our luggage. Hotwire then attempts to call ACE themselves which after a 5 - 6 minute conversation, places us on hold. Now we are moving closer towards a wait time of 45 minutes to an hour for pick-up from a location that is only 1 mile away amidst seeing other rental car shuttles with the same drivers having made multiple rounds.
Now we’re extremely frustrated and exhausted and we are ready to just eat the cost of this pre-paid rental with ACE and go rent from a location within the airport because it’s late, we’re tired and we’ve been waiting close to an hour with our baby and our luggage in the humidity with no seats. While we were on hold with Hotwire the ACE shuttle arrives. The driver is less than pleasant and says absolutely no words to anyone. He gets out of the driver’s seat, opens the back doors and just begins to put everyone’s luggage in. He never said “hello, sorry for the wait”, never opened a passenger door, no hospitality whatsoever.
Once uncomfortably seated in the shuttle because it’s now jammed packed due to not running every 20 minutes as supposedly scheduled, the Hotwire representative comes back on the line and we advise them that we are on the shuttle so we will just keep our current reservation. We arrive at the ACE location that is truly about a mile from the airport which left us wondering what took so long for the shuttle to pick us up. Less than pleased as we pull up to what looks like a recently re-opened - previously abandoned used car rental office, we get our baby and bags to head inside. While heading towards the door we notice one of the couples that rode the shuttle with us is getting back on the shuttle to be taken back to the airport. They opted to rent from another company and we should have followed suit.
The building was less than subpar in cleanliness and appearance. You could clearly see that dust, dirt and grime were longtime residents of this location. With limited seating (that had obviously seen better days), I sat down while my husband and baby were at the counter. This had to be the longest rental process that we’ve ever experienced. You would have thought that there was a package of papers to have been signed. After a dreading 15 minutes into our check-in, my husband is asked to see proof of insurance since we have our own rental coverage. My husband literally had to download the Geico app and pull up our proof of insurance. This is 2019, I would think that all rental car services operate with the same standards of policy and technology but obviously not. We haven’t had to show proof of insurance in close to a decade when renting cars which is why we don’t travel with the paper copies of proof of insurance.
My husband is then handed keys and pulls a 2018 Volkswagen Passat around and we load in. My husband inspects the car for dents and dings and takes the sheet back to the counter to show them the scars on the car that he was able to see since it’s close to midnight at this point. Feeling confident that we noticed and marked any and all of the things we could potentially be charged for upon return, and completely exhausted and frustrated with the fact that a quick rental car pickup and check-in that normally takes all of 20 minutes took close to two hours, we drive off to our destination.
On the afternoon of 9/16/19, as our family is driving to the children’s museum, we are on the FL turnpike when we begin to hear a thudding sound. Not of sure of what it was, my husband begins to slow down. The car has a monitoring system that will only allow you to travel at a max speed of about 60-65 miles per hour. As my husband is slowing down, the front right tire explodes and my husband had to use all force to maneuver the car off to the right shoulder without hitting another car, hitting the railing, or driving us into the swamped embankment.
My husband immediately hopped out of the car and looks at both front tires only to find that the they are bald and that the front right tire exploded. The fender was lifted like suicide doors and the car appeared to be undrivable. We have pictures of the car/tire after the tire explosion in which it is blatantly obvious that the tire was bald. There is no way this vehicle should have been given to us as a rental. There is no way these tires should have passed inspection to be deemed “rent ready”, and I’m the least bit confident that they even inspect their vehicles at all. Flat tires are certainly unpredictable but tires explode when maintenance has been neglected.
I immediately call Geico to file a claim and my husband immediately calls AAA to request a tow. AAA informs us that it will be about 2 hours before they can get to us. My husband then calls the Ft. Lauderdale location of ACE to inform them of what happened only to have no one answer. So he then calls the corporate office only to have them tell him that they can’t do anything because the location we rented from in an independently owned location. At this point our 18-month old is extremely uncomfortable because it’s sweltering hot and we are afraid to let the car run so that we can have AC because we are unsure of the car’s condition.
So after being on the side of the road for about 30 minutes now, with no safety routes in site, we keep calling the location and finally get a hold of someone (Michael). My husband informs him of what happened and requests for someone to come to pick us up off the side of the road and provide a replacement car. They informed us that they cannot send someone to get us and that they can’t issue a replacement car until we bring the one that we currently had rented out back. They stated that their policy was that they couldn’t have two cars out at the same time. So my husband then calls AAA back to see if they can get someone to us sooner because at this point we just want to get off the side of the road.
While my husband is on the phone with AAA I call the ACE corporate office. I inform the representative of what happened and demand that something be done to get my family to safety immediately. I also asked for the name of the owner of the location. Very hesitoling or empatantly, I was given a first name of Helder, no last name, no contact information or anything other than a first name. The representative was less than helpful, conshetic to my family’s emotional state of being frantic and afraid sitting on the side of the road while cars and trucks fly past us at maximum speed, many of them not being cautious or courteous as to get into the nearest left lane to minimize the risk of endangerment or tragedy. There was no offer or effort put into getting us off the side of the road to safety.
Although I don’t agree with the policy, I was hopeful that the representative, the human on the other end of the line would have at least said “I’ll call you a taxi so that your family can get off the side of the road and be safe”. We were on the FL turnpike in the middle of the day, not some less traveled side street. Being in such a vulnerable and helpless place of not knowing if your family will survive being on the side of the road, wondering if next car that I see traveling in the lane next to me is going to be the car that hits and kills me or my husband or my child is one of the worst places to be.
And although we were not physically injured from this accident the mental torture of being faced with possibly witnessing something tragic happening because we were left on the side of the road due to a policy that was written by people who clearly care more about the nominal expense (we’re talking gas and maybe a toll or two) of having two vehicles out for an hour rather than the safety of their patrons was enough to give someone a fatal heart attack. It is shameful to think that this take priority over someone’s safety. This type of inconsiderate service is totally unacceptable and would have never happened with Hertz or Enterprise. They would have been more than happy to send someone to our rescue. The issue was less about getting a replacement car, we just wanted to be safe.
My family’s saftey was clearly not of any importance to anyone at ACE, locally or corporately. While on the phone with ACE’s corporate customer service, we are asked if we were ok inferring of injury from the accident but once given the verbal affirmation that we were not injured, no one was concerned about us remaining safe or alive. Seeing as that ACE refused to send anyone from anywhere to take us to safety after they provided us with a faulty vehicle with tires that were not suitable for the road and obviously not frequently serviced, my husband decided to make the dangerous attempt at changing the tire on the side of the road to get us to safety as quickly as possible.
At this point I’m standing outside the vehicle praying that drivers will see me and cautiously pass us as they cannot see my husband as he is changing the tire. Eventually, someone stopped to help us and offered to follow us to the ACE location to return the vehicle. This too was scary because this mother also had her baby in the car. My husband was able to change the tire and push the fender in far enough to where it didn’t impede him driving or disrupt other drivers. Upon returning to the ACE Ft. Lauderdale location we see a frustrated elderly gentleman fussing with one of the service men while returning his vehicle (which I have a video of) that he had a tire issues with.
We waited in the long line inside until the workers that passed back and forth were admittedly Michael. Michael then escorted us to the counter and processed with processing our return. He appeared to be slightly sympathetic and asked if we wanted a replacement vehicle. We respectfully declined and explain again to Michael that the vehicle obviously hadn’t been routinely serviced hence our tire blow out and that we just wanted to return the vehicle and end this ever so worsening rental experience. Michael removed the toll pass charge and we completed the return and informed Michael that we would be contacting the corporate office and the owner of the location.
A few weeks later, my husband noticed that they $200 hold that ACE places on your credit card when renting was actually charged. We were not informed of any additional charges at the time of return and were not given an explantion of the charge. The claim has been filed with our insurance company in which they will coordinate collecting the deductible from us but ACE has no approval to make additional charges on our credit card. We also received via email a summary of damages and a rather aggressive letter stating that legal action would be taken if our insurance company didn’t pay the claim within 15 days.
I really wish we followed the other couple that was on the shuttle back to the airport to rent from a different company because this experience made what was supposed to be a relaxing visit to FL all but that. Even though the start of the ACE rental was very rocky we still were will to rent there but the tire situation could have been avoided with a thorough inspection of the vehicle.

Why, why, why did I not look at the online reviews before I fell for what feels like a scam? Ugh... This was a horrible experience. As others have said, this car rental agency baits you with a low price, then piles on all sorts of add-ons to the final bill. In the end, I paid about what I would have paid at one of the national car rental places and would have had a lot fewer headaches.
First -- just getting to the rental location in Los Angeles is a test of patience. You have to get on a bus that is headed for a remote parking lot and let the driver of the bus know you want to be dropped off at the "remote car rental" location. Ok, that is strange. Once you wait for that bus to FINALLY arrive (which took about 30 minutes), you get picked up in a different vehicle (a van this time) that takes you to the place that actually has the cars. You stand in line and when it is your turn (which took us about a half-hour), they make you stand in front of an iPad, put on a filthy headset (that is supposedly cleaned with Lysol after the last person had it on -- so now the earpiece is wet -- ick) and talk to an advisor on the iPad while other agents just stand around in the location.
I think the reason is that these remote agents are specially trained to get as many "optional" and "mandatory" fees out of you that they can. The remote agent basically takes all of the information you have already given Ace when you booked online and you have to repeat it all to the agent -- including all of your private information for everyone else around you to hear (hello identify theft opportunity?). This process took about 20 more minutes. The remote agent asked me if I wanted maximum or minimum insurance on the rental. Knowing that I had coverage on my current car insurance as well as with the credit card I was using, I said minimum (BUT I SHOULD HAVE SAID "I WANT ABSOLUTELY NO ADDED INSURANCE, NONE, ZERO, NOTHING"). This is the first trap.
I fell right into it, hook, line and sinker and this added $29.99 to my daily fee -- so much for saving money by using Ace on Hotwire. Based on what others have said here, I am not sure it would have done any good to say that I wanted no insurance because it sounds like Ace does not even give you the option to decline any insurance that they provide. The second trap that I DID NOT fall for was the prepaid fuel option. The agent tried to just add it on and I objected. When we were finally done with the remote agent, I was greeted by a real person in the rental place who then told me that the car was not yet ready, I'd need to wait. 20 more minutes later, I see the car pull up and the agent brings me the keys. So now I have wasted nearly 2 hours just getting the car.
The car worked out well for us and surprisingly was a pretty fair quality rental (based on how poorly everything else about this rental company was) and returning was not as difficult as I imagined it would be. However, I was promised that I would receive my final bill via email (and it never came) and I now see (by looking at my credit card website) that I was not only charged for the original Hotwire reservation, but charged a second time for the reservation plus the deposit. So now the original amount I was promised on Hotwire ($163.00) is now costing me $494.13. I could have rented from Avis for $311 total and had a lot less headaches. Do yourself a favor and DON'T RENT FROM ACE and DON'T USE HOTWIRE. I will never do this again.

Therefore we call them again to be told that they still didn’t have our car, maybe it would be available at 1 pm and that they would call me but that they recommend I call CarRental.com or look for another car at the airport. End of story, 3 days later I still have not received their call. Most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Their prices are low but be warned you will get the customer services you paid for. Unsolicited advice...don’t rent from them, keep shopping around there are way better companies out there. Safe travels!

I reserved a rental car through Hotwire. I was originally charged $88. No info was given to let me know that Ace is not actually located at the Fort Lauderdale airport. Wasted an hour trying to figure out where to catch shuttle to Ace. Stood in line for 3 hours on 9/12/19. Was charged an additional $150 for rental car. "What, did you honestly think you rented a car for just $88/" said the Ace employee. Use lots of fear/scare tactics to try and get more of your money. First car reeked of smoke. 2nd one did too, not as bad. Just wanted to get out of there. No one available to inspect car with you. Drove off with 2nd car. Lights came on, indicating that front tires needed air. When filling tires with air, realized that both front tires were 100$ BALD. Heavy downpours due to tropical storm. Called Ace. Out on hold, then hung up on me. Called their customer service. They couldn't get through and sent them an email. Called again and left vm.
They returned my call 1 WEEK later. I was in West Palm Beach. On 9/13/19 drove back down next day to return car. Offered me another car. I said no, I don't want to do business with them. Ace refunded me the $150 and told me would put a note in system so that when Hotwire called to confirm, I would get my $88. Lied and Hotwire won't refund me. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. After left ACE, went back to Ft. Lauderdale airport and rented a car through Budget for $150. Don't waste your time and money like I did. Rent with one of the reputable companies, even if you have to pay a little more, it so worth it. Wasted an entire day of my vacation.

I have had a terrible experience with ACE in Crete. I booked a last minute car through a broker - in this case Wise Cars, a UK broker. ACE was the local supplier. The whole thing was a rip off. I was left stranded at the airport - the promised shuttle never materialized. I called repeatedly the number of the local company and also the uk broker number but there was no response - not even from an answering machine. Other rental companies had booths at the airport but not these guys. A fellow stranded traveler ( there were 8 of us similarly stranded) eventually hiked to the main office and two hours later a shuttle was sent.
We get taken to the main office and there discover that ACE plan to place a hold on our credit cards of 1000 euros (an excessive amount compared to other companies I have been renting from around the Greek Islands), not only that but they plan to hold the amount for 20 days after the vehicle is returned! As this constitutes half of my holiday budget and I am halfway through my trip this was not possible for me to do. I asked to cancel the booking, and was told I would have to email the broker for a return of my deposit.
I did so but they are now refusing to return the deposit on the grounds that it was less than 48 hours cancellation. Which seems ridiculous to me as I am cancelling on the grounds of poor service and poor communication- not because I don’t want a car. And in any case I had made the booking less than 24 hours in advance. Moral - do not use a broker. Do not go for the cheapest. Do not use Wise Cars, ACE rental or (as they also trade as) Gold Cars or Rhodium Rentals in Crete.

I reserved a car on the web. Went through the process and declined insurance. I have a pay for policy with Amex that covers me 100% and my personal auto policy also covers rentals in Canada. When I got there they would not rent to me unless I bought insurance from them. Be mindful that I declined it while making the reservation. Obviously they think they can take advantage of people when they are traveling. The rudest nastiest people at the Vancouver BC location. By the way, they are not located in the airport.

Will get contacted again on Monday - so they say - they did not answer my first email, either. If it doesn't get resolved (which I expect), will dispute the cleaning fee. Beware!!

We went through 4 vehicles. 1st vehicle - was on empty and they wanted us to rent it, I refused and ask for another vehicle. 2nd vehicle - was not full but has a little more gas in it. Upon inspecting the vehicle the tread on one of the tires was really bad so I asked for another vehicle. 3rd vehicle - Upon on doing the walk around it was not full and was really dirty. It also smelled really bad. When I asked to see the guidelines they said the one on the counter was outdated and that they did not have an updated one for me to see.
4th vehicle, was not full and only a little dirty but I've been at ACE for 3 hours and was tired. I want a full refund due to the staffing had very bad customer service and I did not get the car I wanted. I told my entire story to customer service of the bad experience and how they never said, "I'm sorry" or anything. They started helping customer ahead of me and seem to have an attitude with me.

Hi. I scheduled a trip to my family reunion last week that was three hours away from where I live. I packed my car and got ready to go and my car wouldn’t start. I was low and money and didn’t know who else to turn to. A friend told me about Ace Rent A Car. I decided to call them up to see about my options. The moment I heard the first word come out of the representatives mouth I know I was dealing with Aces. The team was very polite, patient and helpful. I informed them I was on a tight budget. They were more worried about me seeing my family than they were me paying for the car. You don’t find many companies as family oriented as Ace.
Since it was last minute the only car available was an SUV. I just knows I was doomed!!! Little did I know they were only charging me for the compact car I was able to afford initially. Ace Rent A Car and team are truly my Angels. Because of them I was able to meet my new Grandson Timothy. Ace you have a customer for life. Thank you and God Bless.

If you experience an accident or breakdown, please contact the rental office using the phone number printed on your rental agreement as soon as possible." That's what they say on their website. On the phone, they said to me, "Sorry! We can't help you."
So, I was stranded for 3 1/2 hours on the side of an 8 lane freeway in Orlando, FL. with 22 students with a flat tire. Get this! I was only 2 1/2 miles away from the rental agency! I should have just driven the car back on its rim! There was no spare tire! No car jack! And no help from ACE or the Allianz Global Insurance Co. OR AAA (after 1 1/2 hrs they called back!). So... I fixed it myself and paid for it myself.
Before receiving my rental: I should have known I wouldn't get good customer service from the beginning. My plane landed at 9 am. I arrived at ACE at 9:30 am. I finally walked out of ACE to my car at NOON!!! At one point I stood in the exact same spot for 30 minutes!!! And the agents were not efficient to say the least. Then when I got the final bill the number didn’t up at all. I booked and reserved (with conf. #) a rental mini-van from Ace Car Rental in Los Angeles on short notice. They were by far the least expensive which sparked my curiosity because the same vehicle was 60% more at the Big Boys rentals. The booking website I utilized had tools available to glean over customer reviews on wait time/service/friendliness/policies/etc... I should have heeded the many many poor experiences from others and just pay the higher price from the highly reputable agencies. Knowing that I would be 1-hour late for pickup, I decided to call in advance to verify that they would not pull any funny business like "oh we let your car go to another because you were 1-hr. late". I call the "local" number posted adjacent to their local address only to be eventually connected to a Call-Center in Texas. They in turn transferred me to the local agency where I was on hold for 21-minutes.... and then got DISCONNECTED!
To my shock I arrived at this local agency within minutes to find the customer parking lot empty & the lobby with Zero customers. I asked one of the 2 agents if they were perhaps very busy in the last couple of minutes as I had just been hung up on? They of course stated that a big "rush" had just cleared thru; yeah right? In the process of checking in and credit card stuff the clerk made reference that I lived in Los Angeles just a mile away. She further informed me that because I was a "local resident" that I am limited to 40 MILES PER DAY! I assured her with printed documentation that I have "unlimited mileage" in my reservation, but she insisted that somewhere in the fine print on page?? paragraph?? footnote #?? states details restricting "local renters". They are SHAMS. We rented and they confirmed our rental at Saint John, NB airport. When we arrived, they said they had no cars. No explanation other than they had to let all their cars go…insurance or something. I talked with **, the manager of the location at 242 Rothesay Ave, Saint John a month before and from the airport when he said no cars. He was not concerned about our predicament. No other car rental agencies had any cars. No one knew when a car would be available. I could not believe it??? My daughter was on the telephone for an hour and finally secured a rental in Fredericton for later in the day. We were forced to take a taxi to Fredericton at our cost $180 to get a vehicle.
Enterprise at 1270 Hanwell Rd, Fredericton, the manager **, was our savior. You have to appreciate, we are 4 adults on a 1 week family vacation picking up a 5th starting in Fredericton and there is no car and no possibility. Not only that, 2 other persons on our same flight were in the same situation – rented cars from Ace and no cars available – also no other car companies about 5 or 6 had any cars. The other agents mentioned that this kind of occurrence was normal – Ace abandoned their car rentals and Ace also said that they were located at the airport and they were not – about 15 - 20 min drive to Saint John.
This is called fraudulent misrepresentation. Rental reservations are valid contracts. They are violating the contracts. They don’t care!!! They did nothing to assist us. They did not honor their agreement and they did not care. This is not the kind of company that you want to deal with. They are only interested in their financial gain against our losses as consumers. I have notified the Better Business Bureau for the Atlantic Provinces, the Ministry of Tourism for New Brunswick and the Financial and Consumer Services Commission for New Brunswick. This kind of absolute fraudulent business practices takes away from tourism and destroys consumer confidence in New Brunswick. SCAM! BUYER BEWARE! Terrible experience, as I was charged $1,400 for a tiny dent. The dent was on the car before I rented it and I trusted the rental agent to write on the sheet, yet he didn't. Rental car company asked ME to provide proof that it existed beforehand - they did not provide any security camera footage or any footage to back up their claim.
When confronted about the scam, the employee became extremely aggressive and told me to "Call the police! We've got your $3,000, and you can see the dent." You are at their mercy, and with $3,000 downpayment being held hostage, I was forced to pay the $1,400. Car was garbage: Hard to drive. Lock system rarely worked. Covered in mud when I received it. Pricing was insane: Transported to a remote location, cannot go back to the airport, so you have to rent a car with them unless you want to walk the entire way back. Descriptions were misleading (How is a Suzuki Jimny an "Economy SUV?" It only has two doors, and the images were of Subaru Foresters). Was upsold $400 to a car with 4 doors so that my family could fit in the car.
I am considering the prospect of suing them. Says in the terms of their website "Gravel Protection (GP) included. Gravel protection includes damage to windscreen, headlights and the car when gravel or rocks get thrown on the vehicle by another car, self risk is 0 except for broken windshield self risk is 100 EUR." Even if the dent was caused by me and my memory is incorrect, it most likely was caused by gravel hitting the car, and gravel protection is, according to the terms, automatically included AND the self risk is zero. I am looking to pursue litigation, but in the meantime, DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY. There are real rental car companies. Don't take their shuttle to their remote location and settle with a real company that sells cars at the airport.

I could not be certain that there would not be problems such as detours or how much gas I needed to return the car 5/8 full. Seems I misjudged and I had 3/8 of a tank more than I needed. The CS in Ft. Lauderdale told me that they could not credit my account for the difference. It is not a large amount of money, but consider that this happens to 10 renters a day times 365 days a year at every location. It adds up to quite a profit. Incidentally, the contract does not mention this detail and there was no owner's manual in the car.

#1) On our paperwork for 'location' it had ACE, the address and "Shuttle service". After our flight landed at the airport we went to the car rental area and saw nothing about ACE Car rentals. We asked at another car rental counter and they informed us we had to call them. No phone number was listed on our paperwork. So after Googling the phone number, going through the national toll-free number we were then transferred to the local rental location. Another confusing/ unassuming factor was the local car rental name was Journey Rent-A-Car, which was NOT stated anywhere on my paperwork. I was beginning to wonder what we were getting ourselves into.
An employee (Tom) answered, told us he'd be there in ~15 minutes to pick us up in the vehicle that would be ours and gave us the description of it, and where to meet him, which was all good. I would recommend the company 1) include the local phone number and the company's name (Journey) on renter's paperwork they receive so they have all the info in one place and 2) have signage at the airport RE: ACE Rent A Car with their local phone number.
#2) The vehicle state license plate was a paper/ temporary plate, which is fine however the plate was wrapped in 4 layers of plastic wrap, with condensation between the layers and only able to make out the wet paper tag when pressing out all the condensation, until it became hot and illegible again. While doing the walk-around the vehicle I specifically asked if the tag was acceptable since in our home state it certainly would NOT be!!! Tom assured me it was and "had never been a problem before".
During the time we had the rental vehicle we were pulled over by a Police Officer for the vehicle tag not being visible. Fortunately the Officer didn't give us a ticket, however it wasted 45 minutes of our time while they ran my driver's license and the rental vehicle tag and registration. I was NOT happy especially since I addressed it specifically with Tom!! After this I inform Taylor: a Bozeman, MT ACE staff of this issue, he apologized and said, "We have the permanent tags here and will put them on". That did nothing for me! I would recommend sticking with a larger company who hopefully would be more organized as well as follow state vehicle license plate laws.

Rented a car at Riga Airport in Latvia. At the time of rental I requested insurance (which I do not do in the US) as I have heard too many stories regarding deceptive rental car companies in Europe. The car was driven to and from our destination, and twice to and from a nearby village. Otherwise the car remained parked in a private hotel lot. The return process is you drop the car at an open long-term parking lot at the Riga Airport and board a shuttle to the terminal. You never see anyone. While we returned the car dirty as some roads were very dirty, it just needed to be washed and that should have been it.
Now I have been accessed a $68 repair for a "small scratch on the rear bumper." It is not covered by the insurance as apparently the insurance does not cover driver fault and according to the company I must have backed into something. I did not back into anything and certainly did not scratch the car - I have rented many cars over the years and the number of damages have been zero. Unfortunately it appears there is little I can do from across the pond. Run, do not walk, away from ACE or plan to be randomly charged.

I am Canadian, this was my first time personally renting a car. I booked it in advance through Expedia when we booked our flight. After realizing upon arrival that the company was located a mile from the airport, some questions and phone calls, my wife and I arrived at ACE Fort Lauderdale on their airport shuttle at about 1:00am Friday March 22nd, 2019.
Although we had booked a compact vehicle, the single employee behind the desk told us that we were getting an upgrade because he wasn’t going to go two blocks to get the car we reserved in the middle of the night. He did not get out of his seat to go out and show us the vehicle, go over it with us or anything. He made reference to some scratches on the back bumper as we were signing, and after I had signed the paper, changed the gas amount to return at 1/2 a tank instead of 5/8, he said he was helping us out. I asked about the security deposit of $200 USD and he assured us it would be returned to my card when we dropped the car off. He handed us the keys and we proceeded to a dark corner of the lot to find the vehicle. There was not good lighting, it was an unknown neighbourhood and my wife and I felt unsafe so we got in the vehicle and drove to my Father in law’s residence nearby.
Please be advised that during the entire rental period no damage was done to the car in my possession, it was parked in a driveway at a private residence and in a parking lot once, but my wife stayed in the car so it was not unattended because I know what parking lots are like. We dropped the car off to ACE at around 5:00pm Monday March 25th on our way back to the airport for our flight home. Upon entering the office this time, I was greeted as Sir and had to correct the employee (a different one) twice before he stopped referring to me as a man. I told him we were there to return the vehicle.
Without a word or apology, he took our keys and went out to do his inspection. We didn’t know whether to follow him or not so we waited for him by the desk. After about a minute of walking around the vehicle, he came back and told us there was a new scratch on the front left fender. I asked him to show it to us, so we followed him out to the car where he showed us a cosmetic scratch on the front left fender. I told him we had not damaged the car and that the scratch did not look fresh and he said it would have rusted if it was old and I pointed out that as it was plastic it would not rust.
I asked what would happen now and he said I could fill out a claim report and write my side of things and to wait two weeks to hear from them. He handed me the return paper to sign with an x marking the one scratch on the fender that he had shown us. I didn’t have a choice but to sign at the time because we had to get to the airport for our flight home. I did not hear from ACE and I have still not had my security deposit returned as promised.
On April 1st, I received an e-mail from an insurance claims agent of ** Auto claims saying she was handling the file on behalf of ACE telling me to e-mail her with all claim information from my insurance company within 3 days. The claim is for $2020.50 USD total, including appraisal fee, repairs, loss of use, administration fees, etc. The estimate given by the body shop includes completely replacing the left fender, front bumper and grill. The pictures attached (not time stamped and many upside down) show the scratch on the left fender that we were shown as well as several small scuffs/scratches on the front bumper and what looks like part of the right front splash guard pulled down slightly.
Further inspection of the estimate shows further discrepancies including charging 8.2 hours of labor for paint supplies (you can’t charge labor on parts) after already charging 8.8 hours of labor for bodywork and 8.2 hours of labor for painting. Not only is the estimate completely bogus but I am now being charged to replace the entire cosmetic front end of the car when the original dispute was over one scratch on the left fender. I am a mechanic and former auto service advisor, so I am qualified enough to know that what they are quoting replacing and the exorbitant price are way beyond what is required to repair the fender scratch I was shown. There is no need to replace the fender, and now I'm expected to replace the bumper and grill as well? I don't think so.
I tried calling the ACE Rental main number and was told that he had no information on file about a claim on my rental other than a flat tire? I was assured that they would "print out my file", review it and call me back. I'm still waiting. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the ACE Fort Lauderdale office's manager directly in an attempt to resolve this issue, which included being put on hold until the call was suddenly disconnected and being transferred to an extension with no voicemail that disconnected the call, I have sent a detailed e-mail to ACE customer care, the claims agent who contacted me on their behalf and I have CC'd the Insurance Commissioner of Florida in an effort to have them speak to me.
I said I will be more than happy to review this matter further if they can produce the following:1. Proof that the vehicle was damaged while it was in our possession. (That would include detailed pictures of the car that are time/date-stamped before and after that show the damage.)
2. Documentation of any loss of use (they are charging me for 4 days and since I was driving it all scratched up, I have to assume they're still renting it)
3. A contact for the repair shop so that our attorney can speak with them directly.
4. Any documents signed by us acknowledging all damages detailed in the estimate and claim.
Since they have so far not talked to me about the issue, I will be very surprised to even hear back from them, let alone get the information I've requested and I know for a fact that there is no signature of mine on scratches all over the front of the car. If I don't pay, this goes to collections, as was threatened by the claims agent, and that will damage my credit rating. This is seriously dishonest for a company to wrongly go after someone and refuse to even discuss the issue until it goes to collections.
I would like ACE Fort Lauderdale to drop the claim and refund my $200 USD security deposit, as they cannot provide sufficient proof that this damage occurred while the vehicle was in my possession but I may have to fight this in collections. After reading other reviews of this company, I have a hold on my credit card so they don't start charging my card randomly as they've done to so many other people. Learn from my mistakes. Don't rent from ACE. Don't pick your rental car up in the dark. When you pick up your car, make sure they show it to you first. Take a walk around video and pictures of everything, heck, get the employee in them too. Keep all documentation and paperwork. Don't trust anyone on their word when renting.

We recently rented a car through Expedia and unfortunately got ACE. First time using this company. We rented the car and paid our bill and one week later we're assessed $53.00 more on our charge! No explanation! We left the car, checked in, as we found it. No damage, full tank of gas. No toll violations. Nothing. NOW, have been trying with Expedia and on our own to get in touch with ACE to resolve this issue. Have made many calls. Expedia stated that they cannot reach them as well. After numerous calls, messages and frustration, I finally reached someone who said they would open a case. We shall see.

Don't do it. We had to have the tires replaced on our rental van because of how horrible they were, of course we only realized this after we were several hours away from the office. Never got our calls to the AVR (Airport Van Rental)/ACE office returned, we had to keep calling. Then when we returned the van the AVR/ACE lady behind the counter took no responsibility and picked a fight with my wife because she felt we were attacking her for expecting basic customer service and a callback. Isn't that your job? We expect some discount for the half day my wife spent in the middle of her trip on the phone and getting the tires changed. We'll see if that actually happens. Nothing yet. Don't do it. Pay a little more and get the service you deserve.
I called the ACE Customer service to get some help...not so much. They can't access much of anything in their system, and they just sent me back to the AVR/ACE location. I asked if they knew who the manager was so I could speak to them when I called. They had no idea...no idea...just gave me an email address to use. ACE's mission: "Since 1966, the most important part of the ACE mission has been the service of our customers. Come and discover how our award-winning service sets us apart." Not happening with their customer service...and definitely not at the DFW ACE/AVR place. Not so much.

I rented through Hotwire and unfortunately got ACE. When I arrived at Orlando International I was told to go to B12. After half hour the Ace Van appeared. We arrived at the Ace rental counter as I listened to the high pressure tactics that were presented to the other renters. What they said was a lie as you do not need a responder unless you are traveling to South Florida. They brought a Nissan Sentra for me to check out. Everything visibly looked good. Unfortunately I got a tire with a screw and a slow leak. Since I owned Nissans the low air pressure was on. I went to a service station and filled up the tires but the light still was on. I traveled to Tampa and back with no problems.
On the third day again checked the tires and got air in Orlando. The next day I went to Lauderdale and when I arrived the tire was almost flat so I went to a tire station. They charged me 25 dollar to repair the tire. Saturday I returned the car to Ace and the girl scanned the bill and entered in their system. They said to call Monday and talk to Customer Service. It was a joke as no one answered. Frustrated I called Hotwire. She finally got through and informed me the person at Ace refused to give her name. I talked with this person who eventually just said I should have known the screw was in the tire. She then abruptly hung the phone up on me. I am warning do not go to Ace in Orlando. They are the worst I have ever dealt with. My name is Lou ** from Johnstown Pa.

I would encourage anyone that rents from Ace to be EXTRA diligent in ensuring the fuel level, existing damage, rental rates and insurance options are all documented accurately before leaving their facility. Based on my experience, and conversations I overheard Ace representatives having with other customers when they were returning their car, I left with the feeling that the company encourages their employees to be very aggressive in trying to capture extra revenues from customers that didn't ensure that all of the terms of the rental contract were written as expected, and, that pre-existing damage to the vehicle was documented before leaving their lot.
In other words, I would not just hop in the car and go when renting from Ace. Further, I would take the time to photograph any existing damage to the car, and make sure it is documented on their forms before leaving their facility. Personally, I will not use this company again, as I do not care for how they do business.

Please do not rent from this place - I am begging everyone that if you want to keep your smile for your vacation - DO NOT, I beg you, do not rent from Ace Rent A Car in Atlanta airport. It's locally own and if you have issues with the car you will NOT have help from the customer service line. You will have to deal with only them and they will NOT help you. They will overcharge you, give you a car with over 50000 miles, bad breaks! When we called and told them that the car breaks wouldn't stop in the rain, they said, "Take it to a shop and we will have a manager call you soon." WELL they never called and NEVER once cared about trying to get the car fixed! We had to get family members whom we were visiting due to our mom being ill with cancer for the 5th TIME! ACE IS HEARTLESS AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

I rented a car through Hotwire.com, which I have never done before. I noticed my rental was through ACE only when I got to the airport in Portland, Oregon. I was flying into Newark. I can't complain about the shuttle because it did take a while, but it actually picked me up. What I'd like to address is the lying. I picked up a 2014 Jetta Volkswagen the February 8th. Luckily, I made it to my destination 1 hour and 45 minutes away, but as I was driving the "Oil Change" was flashing. I checked the oil, and it was fine but this means the car needs maintenance, obviously. Oh, and it had 60,000 miles on it! Woof!
February 9th came around and the car was starting up very weirdly. It wouldn't turn over. I finally gave it gas and it turned on- this was obviously concerning. It was too late at that point to call the rental place so I waited until February 10th. I called ACE on Sunday, February 10th and by this time, the car would not even start! The lights were flickering on and off and starter wouldn't turn over. So, I clearly couldn't use this vehicle. No one apologized for anything that happened, they told me "I'm not sure what to tell you, Newark location is closed, try tomorrow." This means I was unable to use the car again. Monday the 11th I call the office, they do not answer the phone until 9:45 am, their hours are 8:30 am...not sure what happened here.
I tell "Nel" what is going on, and that the battery may be dead. He tells me it is a new battery, it should be fine and to jump it and if I have to pay for it they will reimburse me. At this point I did not trust this company, luckily I have AAA. I called my AAA, a knowledgeable man shows up, tests my battery. He asks me to turn the car on and off. The car starts with the jump, but won't hold a charge. He checks the alternator as well, and the alternator was fine. AAA gives me a print out of where my battery should be, and where it is. The man tells me my battery is a bad battery. I have proof it is, and I send this picture to the company as well as left it in the car.
I called ACE back and Nel tells me (while Barb, his manager is yelling in the background what to say to me) that I am wrong, and that AAA just wants to sell me a battery. The audacity. I am getting very impatient now. Nel tells me to buy a new battery, and I would have to finance it and they will reimburse me. I refuse because again, I clearly don't trust this company. They then tell me a mechanic will be at my house within 2 hours. I have a flight to catch in Newark in 3 hours, so did not want to risk missing it. I left the keys in the car and left the print out of the battery status from AAA in the car. I also sent videos of what the car was doing to ACE.
Today, on Tuesday the 13th I get an EMAIL from Barb saying "I must have left the light on, the car started fine when the mechanic got there." They will not reimburse me, and Barb even said they gave the car to someone else today. I really hope this person makes it to where they have to be because I was only lucky due to the fact I have family that was able to drive me to the airport since AAA told me if I stop anywhere with the car, the battery likely won't start again.PLEASEEE stay away from this company. It caused me so much stress and wasted time I could have had visiting family. I never leave poor reviews, but I'm truly disgusted by this company.

I don’t know if they ever intended to send a shuttle, because by booking through Hotwire, they already got their money. I sat on the phone with Hotwire for 45 minutes, trying to get my money back, but Ace kept LYING to them telling them the shuttle was running smoothly and I just must have been in the wrong place. When they finally showed up, no apology and he asked for my insurance information which I provided, because I didn't buy insurance through him, he said his credit card terminal was down and I needed to go across the street to the seedy liquor store to get cash for the deposit. I suggested since I prepaid using my credit card to just use that or call another branch to use their terminal or call the credit card company. I had 4 additional credit cards I could have used. We booked a number of rentals with Ace through Rentalcars.com for our three month stay in New Zealand. The first we were given was a very tired Nissan with well over 100,000 on the clock and smell to match. The second was supposed to be a Toyota with capacity for two suitcases but turned out to be a tired Mazda with boot space for only 1 suitcase! There was no choice apparently. On the second day of the rental the central locking froze and we were unable to use the car until someone passing suggested we put the remote in the sun for a few minutes - hey presto it worked - but a few days later the car again locked us out.
We called Ace who put us onto the AA and when the mechanic turned up he diagnosed a faulty remote control and showed us how to override the remote. We lost a lot of time over these delays and the absence of the offer of a replacement car so we canceled all of the future bookings with Ace Car Rental. They should be called “Rent a Wreck” for the knackered cars they push out to unwitting customers. I would NEVER rent from Ace EVER again! The staff are lovely but their cars are total crap.

On 10-18-18 confirmation email was received from Ace Rent A Car regarding our reservation for a 15-passenger van that we needed in order to transport a group of 15 people when visiting LA to see the Rose Bowl parade. Plan was to arrive at 3:30 pm on 12-29-18. Actually arrived at 3:15 pm. After waiting in line and witnessing poor customer service provided to those in line ahead of me, it finally was my turn. I provided reservation info but was told that they did not have a 15 passenger van for us. They said that the largest vehicle available was a 12 passenger van.
When I pointed out the obvious fact that we reserved a 15 passenger van AND that they confirmed that said van would be available, they said "...the confirmation says '15 passenger or similar'.” When I asked where the 15 passenger van we reserved was, they said that the customer who currently had it had not yet returned it. They asked "Do you want me to call them to see how soon they will arrive?" I said yes. They called and was told that the current customer was, at that time, still in Las Vegas with a van that they were supposed to have returned to Ace Rent a Car in Los Angeles prior to 3:00 p.m.!!!
By the way, 12 passenger is similar to 15 passenger only to the extent that they both can carry more than 11 passengers!!! I had 14 people waiting for me to return to the airport to pick them up so we could begin our visit in LA. Consequently, we had to rent a second vehicle (from and ACE competitor) in order to accommodate our entire group of 15. Based on my experience, it seems obvious that attempting to reserve a vehicle in advance with Ace Rent A Car is a waste of time and effort!!! The reservation confirmation is absolutely worthless!!! Fortunately, I had with me my laptop and was able to prove that my credit card covered for collision and my UK car insurance covered for liability - at which point the clerk simply said "Sorry, we don't take international insurance". Rented a car in Las Vegas for a week through Hotwire. Unfortunately got Ace Car hire. If had looked at the reviews before collecting the car would not have dealt with them. Hotwire deal was $220 for 7 day hire, took insurance with Hotwire. Once at desk was told that we need another $300 dollars worth of insurance, disputed this and had to prove I had adequate insurance. They finally allowed this but would not rent the car unless I took their additional liability insurance!
Was then given a set of keys and told to collect car from parking lot - which in Vegas is a bus ride away from the main rental dealers in what can only be described as a shed! The paperwork I was given had no description of any damage to car and no one came to do the customary car rental walk around with me, I took note of the scrapes and scuffs on the bodywork, took photos and went back to speak to the less than helpful staff - who informed me that they don’t bother with anything smaller than a golf ball - they noted the damage I told them about but did not leave the “shed” to look. Only a couple of hours later when settled into the driving experience - UK driver in USA - noted a small chip to windscreen.
Wished had noted earlier. Would have requested another vehicle if had, but no problem. Had insurance. If there was a problem - attempted to contact rental company, was a Sunday evening never managed to speak to anyone. Drove the car for a week, visited the Grand Canyon and friends down in Huntington Beach - did put 1200 miles on car but had unlimited mileage - did verbally double check this. Got the chat about not smoking in the car would be fined if smoked - all non smokers so no problem there?
If car was handed back with marks on upholstery would be fined - no kids in car, no eating in car only water - so no problem there? On return of the car discussed damage noted by us, and the chipped windscreen, no way to prove this was there before we collected the car, had insurance though so no problem there? No manager available to speak to us, would email invoice and contact us if required? Email received later that day - balance on invoice £0.00, no problem there?
No contact from the company so no problem there? The same day Ace Car Rental charged without consultation, discussion or notification another £506.00 to my credit card - what’s the problem? Am now in dispute with them through my credit card company. The car also did not have valid registration plates, this was pointed out to us by our friends in California - it had 30 day transportation plates which had expired! Please be warned. Do not use this company. I cannot agree with other people enough, Avoid Avoid Avoid! Only wish I had seen the reviews sooner and would have paid the extra Bucks to deal with a reputable company - which Ace Car Rental certainly is not! They told me there was a gas station just down the street (wonder if they has a kid back deal with them?). I let them know I already had a SunPass for the tolls. They told me and another customer that all of their cars come equipped with SunPass and I should use theirs for $9/day. They also, told me that I would probably be charged twice (mine & theirs) and should only use cash to pay the tolls if I didn’t want theirs.
