I rented a van from ACE Rent A Car in Los Angeles and I found it concerning that ACE will tell you that they have a shuttle from the airport but they do not tell you that you get dropped off at a parking lot, and then you need to call ACE from the parking lot for another shuttle to pick you up to take you to a weird location, where you can't see any rental vehicles that apparently they keep in another location. When we returned the vehicle, we were told that there was pet hair on the floor mats which we clearly did not bring on our vacation with us! They wanted to charge me extra money for extra cleaning and the girl at ACE reached under the dash and seemed to pull extra wires that were previously taped under the dash.

The staff was very rude and totally unprofessional. They talked to each other as if they did not care how uncomfortable it made everyone feel! I will never rent from ACE Rent A Car ever again and also from Priceline for promoting them! The van we rented was all banged up and it had 81k miles on it and the brakes made a lot of noise and were very scary, stopping going down the steep California roads! NEVER rent from ACE even if you think you can save a few dollars!

Was very leery after reading reviews about the company. Rented a car at Ft. Lauderdale (shuttle to a shuttle) but had a very good experience with them. Rental agent was extremely nice, maybe a 10-minute wait, if that, car was in very good shape, no pressure for add-ons. Would recommend you bring your insurance card with you. My return was even quicker and no wait for shuttle bus. All in all, a very good experience, much better than when I used Thrifty and was billed for add-ons I said no to, and took me 6 months to settle. They even charged me for gas when I filled up car and showed a receipt!!!

I rented a car for three days. Upon returning the vehicle they stated my car was declined. I was in shock due to the fact they have already held 376.00 from my account. Rental amount was 176.00 and deposit 200.00. I asked why would it be declined; lady at counter looked puzzled. I asked for a manager to call me. Manager calls and states something went wrong and is not sure what happened. Manager stated will get back to me. I have called almost everyday just for them to say they will call me back; which I never get a call back. I have offered solutions such as paying cash or with another card so they can release the hold. Yet they are acting as if I did something wrong and still holding my funds. They owe me 200.00!

When I call they no longer answer the phone and if they do I hold for an unreasonable amount of time just for them to say "we'll call back." I called this morning and manager states they have a conference call from 7:30-3:30. Been in management for over ten years... How do you have a conference call your entire shift with no break? Basically I am finding out that I am going to lose the funds.

We rented a van for $19 a day from Houston George Bush airport. Did this thru Expedia's app and it came up first so I didn't even notice the company name. When we got to the airport the shuttle driver for the car rentals had never even heard of ACE! That's no good. He was super sweet and walked us into the car rental hub and they told us where to walk to catch the shuttle to take us to ACE - not even near the other car rentals! We called ACE on our bus ride from the airport...so they knew we were landed.

45 minutes and 5 phone calls later they still had not arrived. Everyone on our shuttle was driving off in their rental cars. I called and told them if they weren't there in TWO minutes cancel it. What a WASTE OF TIME! We had an appointment that we could have made if we had rented from a reputable rental agency. We walk (with luggage again) back through the thousands of other rental cars - walked into the closest one - Hertz, and rented from them and were on our way after like 5 minutes!!! I emailed Expedia to tell them they should NOT advertise them on their site. I got a "sorry you were unhappy with your experience" copy and paste response.

I will never go to Ace Rent A Car again after my recent experience. First, after flying 20 hours, their JFK office agent threatened not to honor my reservation and to cancel giving me the car because I had travel insurance from overseas. She said they don't accept certain travel insurances because they may take too long to pay. She said this not knowing anything about my insurance company. I have never heard that excuse before, nor is it written as a stipulation in their terms and conditions. As well, I was adamant not to pay for any extra insurance but my final cost was 30% more than the initial quote. Do they train their staff to make up rules that are unwritten? This was an expensive, unpleasant transaction for me.

Beware The Fort Myers Airport location for ACE Rent A Car is not affiliated with the national chain but is an agent for the brand and an independent LLC that makes their own policies. I rented a car thru Ace Rent A Car at the Ft Myers Airport and they had an unusual policy of requiring a 300.00 deposit beyond a Major Credit Card. This is not a practice of any of the other Car Rental companies and seemed suspicious at the time. I rented the car for 1 week 4/11/15 to 4/16/15 and returned the car in good condition with a full gas tank. I was checked in by the Manager and he said that there were no issues with the car that I returned.

When I received my Mastercard statement this business had charged me the 145.39 for the rental and then claiming to charge an additional 500.00 (250 +250?) for detailing their courtesy shuttle. I called the Ace Manager in Ft Myers and he said that the Rental car was returned fine but that I was drunk and urinated in the Shuttle. He hung up on me and did not provide his corporate phone number as requested. This is not only an insult to me since I am a VP of a Global Company and was not drinking but also there is a bathroom right in the Ace return lobby so that no one outside of an infant would have justified their claim. There were 10 other people on the shuttle and no children when I returned to the Airport. Ace Rent A Car corporate said that this location is not their own nor a franchise of theirs so I am concerned about fraud.

We are new customers of your Rental Car Service - Ace Rent a Car - from this year 2015, and unfortunately we are very disappointed of your services! The bill we received in final was too expensive! And we find it dishonest. The bill was the double price announced with our reservation (see hereby). One of the reasons we decided to try your agency - Ace Rent a Car - was your good and cheap prices in comparison with other agencies of rental.

But when we come to your agency to rent a car, in our arrival in Florida for vacation (for one month! - 4 weeks), we have discussed against several points that your employee has presented to us and were totally disagree with them: the additional driver (for a total of $279.72) and a tax per day for insurance? (See in document: RSW CDW $1000 also for a total of $ 279.72). We didn't ask them because they increased too much the total amount due of our final bill.

Your employee confirmed us that this high amount (see total deposit of $ 1541.33) was only to consider as a deposit for a guarantee during the using of the car and that this total will not be counted in our final bill: like the additional driver because we were considered as married people. We didn't ask a second driver! It was very clear for us.

Before we used to go to other agencies: Dollars, Alamo...to rent a car. You have to know that we come in Florida each year, because we have in your country a house for vacation. So, we try to find the best price to rent a car. But for this time it was a big disappointment. Please find hereby the bill we received in final of our trip (total due: $1241.33 instead of $647.11 announced and due in our reservation), and that we contest! We have reserved the car from Belgium at a good price, that's why we came to your agency, and in final we have more to pay than in the other agencies of renting cars which most of all are in the airport without shuttle. How can you explain that situation? We hope that you will review the price of our bill. If not we'll never come back to you.

I arrived at the Atlanta airport at 3:30 pm and had scheduled a 4 pm car pick-up. The car I was provided, late, was extremely old and scratched. When I began driving the car, I realized its steering was faulty to a point that it was unsafe; the car was swerving profusely. When I got to my hotel, I called the Ace rental company and said I needed a new car -- this one was legitimately unsafe. They said they did not want to drive out to me in traffic (in spite of the fact that I had plans that night), so they waited until 8 pm, 4 hours later, to bring me a new one, completely ruining my night.

The new car had a seat that was far too low and I was unable to see over the steering wheel, in spite of the fact that I'm 5'3." I called the company back and was told the seat could not be raised and I requested a new one, for safety purposes. My husband called the owner of the company and asked for his last name so he could call the corporate office, to which the owner replied, "It is none of your goddamn business. I can do whatever I want." The owner of the company and another employee came to my daughter's home with a replacement car -- the same one with faulty steering -- and verbally abused me in front of my daughter, screaming that they were going to charge me an extra $150 for bringing me a new car.

The owner of this joke of a company was so angry that he and his employee took both the replacement car AND the old car (which still had my belongings in it!) and drove away, leaving me completely stranded. When I ran after the car, the owner of the company attempted to run me over (also in front of my daughter) and said that if I touched the car he would call the police. He has since attempted to charge my credit card. Meanwhile, I will be sure that his company is removed as a suggestion from all potential rental sites.

Called spoke with manager. He took information said he would call back after dealing with customer. Never returned call. Then when I call back days later, spoke with another employee who couldn't help me. Just wanted to be known what was going on, and passed phone to the manager on duty. The Van was loading and we were last in line to get our return signature in. The driver said no one else can fit, when there was 2 more seats left for my wife and I. Horrible customer service per the driver and to be frank he discriminated my wife since she was pregnant and told her she could not fit in the front seat. Does anyone know how to complain to corporate more efficiently? I can always Google how as well.

I rented a car from ACE/Danjor from 03/28/15 to 04/15/15 during my recent vacation in Jamaica. The normal pick up time for the car is 10:00 am, but I did not receive the car until close to 2 pm, because it was returned late and was being cleaned. I waited patiently, and noted that the manager was very gregarious during my wait. He said that he would appreciate it if I returned the car early on 04/15/15, and I told him that I definitely would.

Since my sister also had a car, and I thought that I had had enough of the treacherous driving on the Jamaican roads so I decided to return the car a day earlier. Upon returning the vehicle, an attendant asked me if all went well, and I told him that everything went well except that I got a flat. He asked if I plugged the tire or if it was fixed from the inside, the preferable way. I told him that it was done the latter way at a reputable service center. He mentioned it to the manager, who told the clerk to charge me $80.00 for a new tire.

When I questioned the charge, the manager shouted from his office that a flat is regarded as damage to the car, and is charged likewise. He also said that he was charging for the early return because I did not give him a 24 hours notice. He was a totally different person from the one I did business with on the first day. When I mentioned to him that it was my third time renting from his company, and that I expected a better treatment, he just ignored me. Needless to say, this was certainly my last time doing business with ACE/Danjor.

A lesson when low prices yield low service. We went to the airport at noon time on a Sunday to get our reserved rental car and we were promptly picked up by the Ace shuttle. He drove us to the rental lot like a stock car driver testing the van for maximum ability to take the curves. Once there we encountered a line of current customers waiting, while three clerks helped their clients complete the proper paperwork. We had over ten people in line ahead of us that had been waiting over an hour, and one couple at the counter were with their service rep for more than one-half hour and still counting. Some people walked out, as the clerks were so slow, and we followed suit. Cheap prices for the cars, but be prepared to wait 1 to 2 hours.

Okay, so I'm pretty well traveled and have rented cars from basically all the rental car companies in cities all over the US and internationally. Ace Rent A Car is by far the worst of the worst of the worst of the worst. Where do I start!? The bldg is off site so you need to shuttle to a spot where you wait for another shuttle. We then waited - get this - an HOUR - before the shuttle showed up. No apologies. Then at the checkout - they were well understaffed. We had to wait another half hour.

Then the car was not what I specified in the rental reservation. And it had a big dent in the bumper and trunk. On top of it all when I asked for a different car - even the one I had specified in the rental - not even an upgrade for all the issues - their sharp as a tack staff gave me stock mumbled and grumpy responses and would not show any appreciation that we are their customers and that their job is to provide customer service in a commoditized service business. My honest and genuine advice here - Stay away, stay far away - and as another reviewer said earlier - run, don't walk away from this "sad excuse for a rental car company."

Biggest rip-off ever! We have been renting cars every year in Florida for the past 8 years and we have never had a problem with car rental company before. Until now! When they say the cheaper comes at a high price, you are never wrong. My father speaks little English and they took advantage of him. He always has denied CDW due to that our CC covers any insurance needed and they told him that it was mandatory to do so...If he didn't do it, he couldn't get the car that day.

He had an emergency that day and needed the car, so he signed the rental agreement, thinking he could receive that amount back. Which he never did! Plus, on top of that, they said they had released the deposit amount, which normally we receive it in 24-48 hours. We let it pass 5 days and we never got it back! I have experience working with sales and car rentals and I have never seen such bad customer service. When asking the manager for paperwork that confirms that they released the deposit amount, all that the manager replied was there was nothing they could do. Conclusion and advice: Stick to well-known and great review companies like Hertz, Alamo and Avis. Don't rely on the cheaper company 'cause, at the end, they will rip off anyone they see vulnerable.

When I arrived at PTY airport ACE office, after two hours of waiting I was handed with a dirty and inferior car than requested; also they did not accept my car insurance policy that I had previously purchased and then I had to pay for a more expensive insurance that they sold me. During my visit, I got into a car accident where the car that hit me took completed responsibility (his insurance) for all charges regarding to the accident.

I have to completely stop my trip in order to make all calls and fill out papers due to the incompetency of the insurance company of the car rental. I have to go to the main office and talked with the operation manager (Camilo) who promised everything will be taken care and apologize and recognize the bad service (BTW, ACE RENTAL is the same as FOX RENTAL).

To my surprise at the end of the trip I got hit, upon return of the car, with all kind of charges for "my share" of the accident and I was told that even though the other party was responsible and was willing to pay, “I” would have to go and fight that with the insurance company if I wanted to be reimburse. This agency undertakes the good name of ACE Company. This is the first occasion that I rent a car with this company and according to the experiences I see, I will not use this company in the future.

AWFUL. STAY AWAY. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY... SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! I never lash out on social media but this situation has me extremely upset. And it needs to be handled. Matt has been dealing with his car being broken down and numerous attempts have been made to get it repaired for the past 3 weeks. He found a mechanic online to fix the car and in return the mechanic (PAUL) purchased a rental car in his own name from Ace Rent A Car located on Cypress. The rental was repossessed from our apartment complex last night approximately 1130 pm.

After calling several towing companies we eventually found out from TPD that the rental was picked up by Ace Rent A Car, since the mechanic failed to communicate with the rental company to add extra rental days onto to the agreement. Matt eventually makes his way down to Ace to pick up his personal belongings that were left in the car. His Jordan gym bag , his 220.00 beats by Dre headphones and his W-2 form, 100.00 Oakley sunglasses and other personal items were all STOLEN! After zero cooperation from Mike at the front desk and Mario, the Alleged thief who repossessed the vehicle, he was now suddenly in Miami! Matt called the police and filed a report. Police said there's nothing they can do! Upset with a huge headache and stressed out without car and his belonging being stolen, Matt called it a night.

Matt woke up this morning called Ace Rental again this to check with Lisa Cisler the owner to see if she viewed the video tapes, obviously that didn't happen! Mike answers the phone with a very nasty poor and snide attitude and told Matt, "Possession is 9/10 of the law so do what you gotta do, we'll be here all day!" My boyfriend is just an additional driver on the rental car and he's an innocent victim of a Ace Rent A Car stealing his federal W-2 Form and his personal belongings!! So is it fair to have this shady company steal innocent people's property?

They won't rent you a car unless you have your actual insurance card with you. If you don't have the card you MUST pay $16.99 a day for insurance. I even had my mom take a picture of our insurance card and send to me. I showed them and they still forced me to pay the insurance. That's the scam!! This company should be shut down. The 45 minutes wait for the shuttle was the least of my frustration after this nightmare. Best part, when the driver pulled up to my terminal, he told me "You can get out now". Needless to say he didn't help with my bags. End of the day, I made a $40.00 rental reservation and it turned into $167.00. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. THEY NEED TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

So I proceeded to the airport to check my bags in and get boarding pass. I then returned to the Ace Rent a Car at 14500 Global Parkway at 5:15 AM to return my rental car and take their shuttles back to make my 6:30 AM flight. When I got to the office no one was present and there was a note on the door that said "be back 10-15 minutes" with no date or time listed. I then waited until 5:45 AM in the place of business. During this time I called roughly 20-30 times the office and the owner's cell phone. The owner is Patrick Lewis - phone number **, email: **. I also texted and emailed and called the main Ace phone number with no response.

I finally had to leave the car in short term parking - where I took pictures to show the car was in pristine condition. I then texted the owner with the location of the car. The owner never responded and has dodged all of my phone calls. My boyfriend was able to call their office and verify that they did receive the location of the car and that it was checked back in. HOWEVER, I had only texted this information to the owner's cell phone listed on his business card, but the only text back I received was that this was a private cell phone. Which is completely false as this is how I had confirmed pick up of car as well.

He has not refunded the hold of 300 dollars he put on my credit card for incidentals that was supposed to be returned at the time the car was returned which they said they had. Additionally, he is trying to tell me I owe him 12 dollars for the short term parking fee. I have email, cell phone, text and picture evidence of all of this. Also, I am sure there is video evidence of their office surveillance cameras of my waiting for over thirty minutes in a panic due to the fear of missing my plane.

I rented a car from ACE at the Panama Tocumen Airport in 2014. The agent told me that he had only one car left. I had booked several weeks prior. The car appeared to be 4-5 years old. Cracked windshield, coat hanger for radio antenna, crank arms for rear windows fell off, cracked bumpers, bald tires. I could not refuse to take it as I had already paid and he could not refund. The tires were out of balance and so the car vibrated at 80 kph. After one week I had a flat and noticed that the tire was worn to the wires inside. The spare was also worn thin and very much more out of balance. When I returned the piece of crap and complained the agent said that he would give me a 10% discount on my next rental. Can't wait for that. I sent a letter of complaint to head office and, of course, did not get a reply. The Representative in the Rent-A-Car told me that I had to pay more taxes and other charges. This was not well clarified in the note I received from registration. The estimated price was for $429 with estimated taxes, however I paid around $650. They told me that I had to pay more for operation by your company and taxes not included. The quality of the car was depressing. Many coups around the car. It had no central locking and had poor quality paint. The tires were not good, I had several times to refill air. It was not possible to change to another car. And the worst: when returning the car, the rear bumper had broken paint. It denoted that had no coup, and the painting was rather poor quality (the representative confirmed that!). However, they charged me about $215 because the insurance didn't cover that!!! So, what is the cover of CDW and LDW??? I am quite upset! My holiday could be better if not for the bad experience with your company.

Lauderdale to inquire the additional amount to keep the car three extra days. I was told by Sarah that the charge would be the same as the additional days I already was paying for $20.64. I advised her I would call back and let her know. The following day, I called back and spoke with Sarah and told her I was going to keep the car and again discussed the rate. A day and a half later, I was contacted by an ACE representative asking where the car was. I explained that I had extended my trip and told her the rate I was quoted by Sarah. This associate advised that the rate was wrong. I subsequently then spoke again to Sarah who told me that the quote was left up to the discretion of the sales representative and not to worry, that she would take care of it. I subsequently returned the car and the higher price was being charged on my receipt. At this time, neither Sarah nor a manager was available so I refused to sign the contract and left for my flight to return home.

The following day, I called the general manager Jeff and left a message to call back and a return call was never received. I subsequently called Sarah who advised that she would once again take care of it. I also called my credit card company to dispute the charge. I was subsequently then charged the wrong amount and once again, called back Sarah who asked me to hold on and then left the phone indefinitely. I called back and spoke with Julia who advised that she was in training and could not help me. Julia assured me that either Sarah or the manager Jeff would call me back. I have never received a call back. I subsequently called once again and spoke with Jeff (the general manager) the next day, who advised that it did not matter what Sarah quoted me, the price was on the contract and basically too bad for you. I am in the process of disputing the charge, but no matter the outcome, I will never use ACE rental car again!!! The lack of professionalism is second to none!!!

I've recently rented a car, for my son, at the Atlanta airport, Ace rental. They overcharged his card by $85. The car was $138.94, with a $200 additional hold. He was charged $250 hold and an extra charge of $35. I called to ask about the charge and I was told that I could not ask any questions. After trying to explain, a man, claiming to be the owner, got on the phone and told me that he would NOT answer any questions and hung up on me! Over the past 2 days, I've called the (877) 822-3872 several times. It leaves me on hold for about 15 minutes and gives me a message that "due to high call volumes, my call can not be completed".

Through Cheaptickets rent a car for use in the Republic of Panama and purchase the insurance policy recommended. When I arrived at PTY airport ACE office, after two hours of waiting I was handed with a dirty and inferior car to requested besides they did not accept my car insurance policy that had previously purchased through Cheaptickets, and then I had to pay for a more expensive insurance that they sold me. The next day, I had to change the car assigned the night before for the bad condition shown. The other car was in worse shape than one before. Three days later again had to change the car because got 2 flat tires the same day and all tires, including the spare, were a danger for the safety circulation; also, the unit had brake problems.

In no time the company facilitated road assistance and refunded the amount paid for me to repair their tires. I have to go to the main office and talked with the operation manager (Camilo) who promised me to upgrade the unit but this was not true and was moved to another car like the previous two, with this one also got another flat tire and additionally this car had the front bumper uneven and fastened with plastic cables. I have the pictures to prove it. In summary, in 12 days of rental I used 3 different cars but all were white Kia Picanto different years. My confirmation said that I will have a Toyota Yaris o similar but a Kia Picanto was not similar to it.

I think that paid a price inflated by a defective and unsafe product offered by this branch in Panama with total lack of interest and care for the customers. This agency undertakes the good name of ACE company. Also I did my complaint through Panamanian authorities and tourist agency. This is the first occasion that I rent a car with this company and according to the experiences I see not use this company in the future.

When we arrived at the airport late at night per our scheduled flight and made our way to the van pickup location, we called ACE and were told flatly, "We're out of cars. They're all rented out." Not exactly what you'd like to hear at midnight in a strange city and after a long journey to get there. The ACE rep didn't offer assistance in any way; rather, it sounded like he just wanted to go home and not deal with his customers' problems. What was the point of making a reservation, exactly? We eventually got a ride from the airport and made it to our hotel at 1:30 am, but we didn't have a car as originally planned. Despite the attractive price, ACE broke our "contract" and let us down in a big way.

From previously enjoying excellent service, I could not envision a more disastrous and rude arrival to the rental center. We reserved the car weeks in advance, so we could just check in and drive away. With over an hour waiting for a car and being told to "wait here", was finally given a car and told to sign that there were no previous damages without inspection... No option to say no was given. After refusing to accompany me to review the car, I threatened to cancel - where Sara sent someone else to review the car with me.

After we examined it, it was the wrong car she sent us to. Then we reviewed a ford focus and marked the scratches with the auto service person, and not Sara. After driving a couple of miles, there was a sound coming from under the seat.... two Yoo-Hoo Bottles left from a previous customer. An hour waiting, rudeness, a dirty car, I will be sure to let everyone know... and write online about the terrible service from ACE. Never again Ace.

On Oct 9, 2014 we picked up a mini van even though we reserved & full pre-paid for a car we were told there was nothing else available. Even though the rental agreement was paid in full, we had to present a credit card that they placed a $100 pending charge for incidentals just in case of something unforeseen happening. We returned the car on Oct 12th with more gas than we used & in the exact same condition as it was when we picked it up. It is now 2 weeks later & they have yet to remove the $100 pending charge. When I inquired, they said that's up to my bank to do.

Knowing the merchant is responsible I still called my bank to ask for assistance. When I relayed the info to Ace they said no they have never done that before. So two weeks later my money sits in limbo because of their nonprofessional & ignorant staff. The savings was not worth the hassle for the time I have spent trying to resolve this matter. When I called the corporate office, I was told someone would get back to me but it could take up to 72 hours. That leads me to believe they have a large amount of issues waiting for resolution.

When we said, No Thank you and ask why we couldn't have one of the cars sitting in front of the building....we were told it was a $20 a day upgrade and we would have to wait to see what was returned in order to get a rental car!

So needless to say we were given a Hyundai Elantra and was told it was a Full Size Car! LIES!!! So we then had to wait another 20 minutes because the agent didn't bother to check the drawer for the keys for the MID-SIZE CAR!!! I booked a reservation using my American Express, and I called the agency located in McCoy in Orlando, and I was told that my reservation is confirmed. Upon arriving at the location, I was astonished by the behaviors of the agents working on that day. The agent was standing and he was working on his computer while I was there, and he did not even say "Hello". I have never see that in my life, and this is only the beginning. After I handed him my confirmation, he threw me a paper with their policy, and he asked me "Are you aware about our policy". I replied that it would be great if he can explain briefly the requirements to rent a car. It was missing a Utility Home Bill, and I went back home to get the bill. Thinking that I would finally be able to get the car, however, I was actually completely wrong.

Indeed, after I came back with the Bill, I found another agent - "I was told that he was a supervisor", and he was trying to explain me that I need to have a full coverage in order to be able to rent car with them. He stated that the liability I already have with my current insurance plan could not applied to the rental car. To be honest, I hesitated in the beginning thinking that he is the specialist, so he knew what he is saying. Fortunately, I called my insurance right away and they asked from where I got this information as the liability is transferable to the rental in a short term. I handed the phone to the agent so the customer service agent from my insurance to resolve this misunderstanding, and after few seconds, he told me that everything is fine without even apologizing. I felt that I was asking for charity. The "supervisor" was rude; moreover, he was not knowledgeable about the insurance policy.

When returning a car, I faced the same scenario. No greeting at all, and the agent was busy with his co-worker at the counter and did say anything until I told him that I am returning a car. He just said “Ok", and said Have a good one! He was more rude than the first agent. I believe that things needs to be done, and customers deserves a minimum respect as we are paying for the service, and we are not asking for any gifts. How ACE rental can tolerate those behaviors, and how the manager of the location can accept to have agents not acting professionally when dealing with customers (heart of the business). I do not understand anything with this company, and I would say I will never rent any car from them. In addition, I am advising you to avoid this company.

I made a reservation with ACE at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Upon making the booking, the vehicle that I had rented was advertised as having unlimited mileage. It is also stated in my reservation confirmation that I would receive this feature. However, after picking up the vehicle I noticed that on my receipt I had a limit of 200 km per day and would be charged for every km after that. I immediately called their office and spoke to the receptionist there. She had failed to clearly explain why I did not receive unlimited mileage (as it was stated in my reservation confirmation and also on the website at the time of booking) and I was thoroughly dissatisfied with her response. Additionally, it clearly stated on Ace Rent-A-Car's local policy that, "Local renters will receive 200 km per day. Unlimited mileage is not available to local renters." Because I was not a local resident, I should have been receiving unlimited mileage. The fact that their vehicles were advertised as having unlimited mileage, their local policy clarifies that it is only available to non-local residents, and my reservation confirmation stated that I had unlimited mileage, is misleading and inappropriate.

I didn't end up paying for any unexpected fees (because I had not exceeded their "limits"), but I did send an email to their general manager and leave a report on their website - something that I shouldn't have had to do whilst on vacation! This experience caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress and needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with the service I had received.

When we arrived to pick up the rental they tried to force us to take out their insurance, we declined as we had coverage through personal insurance and through our credit card. The van, a silver Dodge Caravan had damage from front to back, along both sides, from top to bottom. Even the inside of the vehicle had scrapes and dings all over the inside. Laila was our customer service person, and she informed us that she had only been there a few weeks and wasn't exactly sure what to look for and check off. Upon approaching the van, and at the direction of myself and my husband we walked all around the van and noted ALL of the damage (there was a lot of it). The check engine light and the brake light were on upon pickup and continued to stay on the ENTIRE time we had the van. On the inside of the van she only noted damage to the inside of the back hatch area. She NEVER even opened a front or side door to check for damage on the inside.

When we returned the vehicle we were in a hurry to catch our plane and she argued with my husband about the damage to the passenger back bumper (which was already there). She had him sign a form regarding the damage. I would have never signed it since it was there when we picked it up, but my husband was trying to hurry so he didn't miss our flight. NOW, THEY HAVE SENT US A LETTER STATING THAT WE OWE THEM ALMOST $1,700 FOR DAMAGE THAT WE DID NOT DO. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE THIS COMPANY. WE WILL DISPUTE THE CLAIM EVEN IF WE NEED TO TAKE IT TO COURT.

Obviously, I was a bit flabbergasted by this because to my recollection, the car had been returned in the exact same condition as it was checked out to me.

Upon returning the vehicle, the person did the inspection and said it looked ok. The total charges for the claim were over $4400 dollars. Come on! $4400 in physical damages to a vehicle, correct me if I'm wrong, should be pretty obvious and not something you notice later. I asked them to please explain specifically and in detail the damages I am being charged for (I believe I have the right to know), and I was simply told hail damage. I asked again what part of the vehicle was damaged, and the person simply told me the case had been sent to the claims company and that she was not going to argue with me. When I returned the car to Charlie I had to pay the damages, $500 out of pocket and they stated that as soon as they got paid by my neighbor's insurance they would reimburse me. My neighbor's insurance company ASC was willing to pay the claim, however it is their policy to request evidence of the car owner's (Charlie's Rental) liability insurance. Charlie Car Rental dragged their feet, and to this day has not submitted the evidence so I am having to eat the $500. I called the offices in Puerto Rico and in Indianapolis and their response was "it was not our fault or our vehicle's fault so we have no obligation to present this evidence", sorry.

Since it was just a matter of producing a copy of the evidence of insurance I fail to see why they couldn't provide it. One of the staff persons I spoke to during the ordeal mumbled something about the insurance being expired, I suspect that this is the reason they cannot provide evidence. I think I was driving around in an uninsured car! Besides that the car's gas and tire gauges were not working and on the second day of the rental, I woke up to a flat tire. A huge nail was found. She said that a $250.00 deposit had to be run on my credit card, and the reservation price of $45.68 would be honored upon the return of the vehicle at 7:00 am on Sunday.

When the car was returned Sunday morning, there were no ACE attendants to be found. One of the other rental companies said to drop the keys in a mail slot, but that the actual attendants didn't start until 8:00 am. I checked the charge that was submitted to my charge card, and it was over $130.00. When I called ACE, they first said that I turned the vehicle in low on gas. I had it filled 2 miles from the airport! They then said that the reservation was incorrect and they had to charge an extra day by each hour, which moved my $45.68 to over $130.00. I claimed that Car Rentals or ACE had made the mistake, and I would agree to pay an additional portion on the rental, but they insisted that the full charge be paid, and my card had already cleared their charge.

We also had to get a car seat which we reserved online. The clerk gave us an odd look and then proceeded to take my wife to a back room to pick out a child seat. Amongst the mess of broken and disgustingly dirty child seats she did find one that had all of its parts and pieces to actually be deemed acceptable. For this fine piece of equipment, we had to pay $5/day.

Once we got the car, the trunk would only open from the key fob with the car turned off. The button in the car would not work. Also, I signed off that there was 3/4 tank of gas and there was actually less than that when we received the car, but since the check in took so long, we had an irate 3-year-old who was not going to be happy with another minute in this place, so I didn't say anything knowing that there is usually a little leeway with fuel returns. My mistake, on the return I gave it back to them with the same fuel I had received it with and was charged $11. The worst part was when we got a flat tire after having the car for about a day. We called the office and asked if they had road side assistance and they said to change the tire and drive on the spare for the rest of the time. And then when we returned the car they tried to charge us for the flat tire. If I did not have my child there with me, I would have gone through the roof.

As a post note, I was sent a customer satisfaction survey which I nicely explained all of this same information to them in the comment boxes. I received an email back from them stating that they appreciate my feedback and they will work with local management to help future customers' satisfaction. I replied expressing that she did not acknowledge any of my complaints and have not received any emails back since that one.

I recently searched for cheap car rates through Kayak because my husband and I were planning a trip from Florida to Tennessee. I already had a good price on a rental but in an attempt to save money, I made a bad decision and selected to rent a car from ACE car rental. The rate posted was $40 cheaper than the offer I previously had through another company. On our travel date, I went to pick up my car and to my surprise, I was informed that Florida residence only receive 100 free miles when renting through ACE Car rental. Each additional mile would be .25 cents. Imagine my horror because we were planning to leave on our trip in one hour.

I did not take the rental from ACE, but they charged a nonrefundable fee of $25 to my card. I will never rent from ACE Rent A Car again, and I am now informing my Florida residence friends of their practice. Thank God, I was able to go online to Priceline.com and find a better rate than I had previously, with unlimited mileage. When I went back online to see where the ACE policy was posted, I saw the small, small, small note to check local policy. It was my fault because of my excitement and my belief that I had found a company with good rates. I totally missed this note. All I can say is Florida residence, beware! I did notice another customer walking out of the rental office appearing disgusted, but I figured the issue was something different.

I went online to get car rental deals which took me to ACE. In June, I rented from ACE. I had forgotten that I had a bad experience. The manager at that point took a security deposit which was fine by me, actually sounded to me he did a favor by less security deposit. But in two days without consent, ACE withdrew more money from my account. When I returned the car, they said they will do the refund the same day but it never happened. It took 10 days for these people to refund the money to my account blaming my bank which is a total lie. Now, the day before yesterday, 29th of June, at ACE Car Rental at Elmhurst which online had guided me to (which I took), I paid online for the car I rented. I went to the location. The manager, Joe (hope he gave his name right), told me the same thing, "We are doing a favor charging less deposit on your card."

Suddenly I recalled my bad experience with ACE Rental before in refunding my deposit, so I said, "Let me rent without deposit." The manager refused and gave his boss' number saying, "The guy never picks up customer phone or returns call." Anyway, it was late for me to rent from other places due to my limited budget for renting plus last minute renting is always expensive. So when I returned, I asked the manager, "You people had advertised in your car rental same day refund, please do so," to which he said, "We will, but by the time it shows back into your account, it will be more than 5 business days." I said, "When you advertise that you will refund right away, then you should do so right away." The guy started arguing. I said, "Look, you took the deposit for the car rental right away, my bank paid you right away. Why not refund right away too?” He said that if I continue talking to him, "I'll call the police on you accusing you of being rude to me."

When he mentioned that, I felt really insulted. Instead of refunding or doing something about it, this guy not only threatened me but accused me of being rude with him. I said, "That's unacceptable." He said, "I'll throw you out of the store," and picked up the phone to call the police. I told him, "You think I should be afraid of the police? Is this the way to treat a customer when they ask for a refund?" Police did arrive, and the manager (Joe) said to the cop, "The matter had settled down." I stood there watching with amazement how low he acted, how threatening he was to the customer. The cops came asking him, "Are you sure? You still need any help from us, please let us know." I do not understand what's the deal here. Do they keep our police in reserve to abuse not only the customers but their position? The police are meant for other stuff, some emergency or life-threatening situation but not to work for this ACE Car Rental as personal security by the way the manager of ACE abused this by calling the cops.

As a witness, his staff was there feeling sorry for me and did come out to apologize on the rude behavior of the manager. I would never ever rent from ACE again and get humiliated by them and threatened too. Still, I checked my account. I see no refund from ACE Car Rental, S. York Road, Elmhurst, IL. I would recommend people never to rent from them and have this kind of insulting experience from ACE. Lastly, ACE shows one picture and gives names of certain cars. When you go to rent, they try to throw cheap car at you which was not mentioned at the time of rental online.

We arrived in Orlando, FL at 8:30 pm and I phoned Ace from a courtesy phone at the airport. The woman that answered said, "We don't have a car for you." She then told me to go to EZ rent a car and ask (she then spoke gibberish) forsot. I said ask for Scott? She said forsot. I asked if she would repeat that and once again it sounded like forsot. I went to EZ and rented a car for $140 more than my agreement with Expedia and Ace. Ace would have been $200. EZ was $340. I was pissed but I did what I had to do for trip continuation. I called Expedia before I rented the car from EZ. They couldn't do anything about it other than give me a $50 gift certificate.

So this is what I am upset about: One of your locations (the one that services MCO-Orlando airport) did not have a car for me even though there was an agreement to provide me with a car. So I was at the airport late in the evening with a two and a half hour drive ahead of me and I had to come up with a car! I acquired a car through another company for $140 more than the original contract with Ace.

So Cheryl Young Reservation Specialist contacted me: "Dear Mr. ***, Please fax me a copy of your rental agreement with the company you ended up renting the car from. I will complete an Incident Report and will need this information in order to consider reimbursement of the charges you incurred over and above what our agreement would have cost. My fax number is **. Thank you for contacting ACE Rent A Car. I faxed in the requested information on Nov. 23, 2011. I have tried to contact her since also. I have received no response from the company.

I reserved a car with Blue Oval Car online before heading out on our vacation to LAX. I had not been able to be on vacation for 3 years and the family was very excited. I could not find Blue Oval Car rental anywhere and nobody knew about it. I pulled up the address from my email and had to figure out which shuttle to take to get there. When we went there to the Sheraton hotel, we still were not able to find Blue Oval and walked towards the back where there was an ACE car rental. I was told that it's the same company, so I provided my reservation number and the lady at the counter told me they have no cars since I was later than the time they expected me.

She told me that any delay over 2 hours and they don't hold the car. But it does not say anywhere when you are booking the car and they should understand that traveling by airline into airports like LAX, people are often delayed. I have my family with me and she told me there was no car, no larger car, nothing. She then told me that she can look up on other car rental places and see if she can get me something. In the meantime, there were other people there who don't have cars and they were not late. What's their excuse for that?

It was pouring rain and we made our way (luggage and tired kids) to the other rental place called Fox's, which was right next to Thrifty's. Both places had people from ACE car rental a.k.a Blue Oval trying to rent cars. It was nice to know that we were not the only ones screwed by this company. We finally got a nice car rented with a nice service rep from Fox car rental whose name was Max. However, at twice the price of what we had got from Blue Oval and was not quite in our budget. But beggars can't be choosers.

I had a car rental from Ace Car Rental Online 2/23/2011. I found out it was being held by Blue Oval when I picked up the car at LAX airport. The rental car had less than half a tank of gas, has a flat tire and airbag lights were on, and the left mirror cover was broken in two.

I asked the person who helped me with the paper work, and he told me it is fine, and the lights will be off after 15 miles (they never turned off), and the car broke down while I was in Las Vegas. I called hundreds of times to get help, but no one would answer the phone and had people hanging up on me as soon as they picked up the phone.

I ended up calling my own insurance company to help me fix the car. When I returned the car to the manager of LAX office, he told me he will refund me everything including the $300.00 deposited and $180.49 rental fee. It has been almost 2 months now, and I have never been credited back, and they charged me twice for the deposit in the amounting to $300.00. They charge me another $300.00 after I returned the car, without my authorization. I was not even in LA. Their services are awfully terrible.

My travel agent booked me a car from Ace for Dec 26, 2010. When we arrived at the airport in San Francisco, we were informed that a car was not available and that they had booked me another car at Alamo. I was also informed that Ace would refund any extra costs. Upon returning, I contacted Ace's customer service Jan 7 for said refund. Not only did I have to argue with them about the amount owing, to date (Mar 16), I still have not seen the check despite more than one follow up phone call. I would never rent these guys again. I don't think "Ace" is a proper description for them.

I rented a car from Ace Rental Car at LAX and returned the car several days before it was due. A credit was allegedly issued back to my credit card. Over 2 weeks went by and it was never credited. I contacted Blue Oval, their parent company, and was told they had issued it on the stated date. After resolutely stating the facts and calling back several times, I was told there had been a system glitch. The amount was to be deposited within my account between 24-72 hours. It is not there. I went on their website and requested the contact names of their CFO. I got a return call that I should check with my bank and they would fax documentation. I told them I will be suing them for fraudulent business practices. As of today, there has been no money returned to my account.

I rented a car from this company while on a business trip in California along with a colleague. We split the cost of the rental, but put the deposit for the car on my credit card. I was assured that the deposit would be returned to me within 7-10 business days after returning the car. When it was not, I called the company, who told me that it had been refunded. Since it had not, I called my credit card company, who assured me that no money had been refunded.

After many conversations with the rental car company, they acknowledged that they had given the deposit to my colleague instead, despite both of us telling them that the deposit was coming from and should be returned to me. Despite acknowledging their mistake, the rental car company refuses to now correct it. They will not refund my money, and are no longer answering or returning my phone calls. I now am missing the $250 that was charged to my credit card as a deposit, despite my returning the car on time and in perfect condition.
