I was searching online for a cheap electric company, and Direct Energy came up. I’ve been with the service going on a little over a year and it’s been cheaper for me. I was moving from one place to the other, and they were really helpful in getting everything switched over and started. I had a different provider and Direct Energy is great about notifications, telling me about payments and ideas to cut electricity costs, and keeping in touch quite frequently, which was very convenient, which my other carrier did not do.

Direct Energy is okay, the bills I receive monthly are okay, and their people have been good. I used a different provider before using them and they are all the same.

I got Direct Energy with gas and I got electricity too. The monthly payment for gas could be lower but everything is working out just fine.

I used a website that compares prices for different electric companies and Direct Energy was one of the lower prices. Then, they had good ratings. So, they were the first ones I called and I ended up signing up. I had to call them once because I had downloaded the app and I did not write down my username and password. We went over a lot of information although I just needed help logging in to the app but they were great. They helped me log in and now, I have access to it all the time. I’ve been with Direct Energy since December the 4th and the bill is lower than what I was expecting it to be for the first month and a half or so compared to what I’ve had in the past.

I found Direct Energy to be more helpful and easier to deal with. I heard about them from a neighbor and they seemed to have better rates. I’ve enjoyed dealing with them.

My friend told me it was efficient enough for them to use Direct Energy. It is a good electricity provider and it is functioning well.

My previous house had a lot of problems, but where I'm at now, things are good. I got the fixed rate deal with Direct Energy and most times, they do a good job. I never had an issue speaking with them and getting things done.

So far, everything is working fine with Direct Energy. Every time that I call, they're always helping me and it’s quick. I don’t have to go through too many waiting time and they offer me what I need. I’m very happy with this company.

I used Direct Energy for three years since I moved here in Texas. After that, they sent me the 115 this month. But I don’t have any wash and dry, and I don’t use anything. For $60, $40 or $44, it was okay but this was too much. I called last week and their rep said that my contract was over and I had to renew. Also, my due date is on the 8 and he said I can pay on the 17. I renewed already and he sent me the paper. Now I get the same thing like before. All in all, their service is good and I'm satisfied.

Everything has been going well with Direct Energy. I’ve looked at my bill in the last six months, and I feel fine with it. I’ve renewed my plan and I would probably renew again. When I renew, I ask them what's the rate and if that is the lowest rate they can offer, and I think they have said that it is.

I come from Virginia, so it was difficult for me to navigate and get a service here in Dallas. Direct Energy's website was easy to understand and navigate all the pricing options. The reps called me twice and I was able to contact them and they did above and beyond. It was an exceptional experience.

I like Direct Energy's price. I've had them for years, and the service has been great. I've never had an issue with them, and if I call, they'll answer my questions and everything is really good with them.

I’ve had Direct Energy for the last several years and if you don’t use over a certain amount of kilowatts, they charge you more per kilowatt hour so you end up paying a larger fee. But all providers are like that. They pay for Oncor to deliver the power to you, which sometimes, is more than your normal bill. Sometimes, your bill is $40 and Oncor charges $47 for delivery. There should be a better situation with people who don’t use that much kilowatt hours and they should have a better rate per month.

The people that work for Direct Energy are really nice. I’ve been with the company for about three years. There are some times that the bills are really low and there are some times when it's high. It just depends how much I use the electricity. Still, I used another company and Direct Energy would be the cheapest.

I got the free weekend plan from Direct Energy and it worked out pretty well for me. Its cost was fair. I've had them for four years, but I had to move out of a house into an apartment. I had to cancel it because we already had a service set up there through a different company.

Direct Energy had lower rates compared to other providers. And since having the service, I noticed that my bill is lower. I’ve also had good experience with their reps and they gave me a rate for being with them for so long.

I had Reliant in the past. Direct Energy is way better. We had got the free nights and weekends. Their reps are nice, and the reliability of the service is good. I'm satisfied with Direct Energy. I love the experience I've had with them.

Direct Energy was the only energy company in town when I moved in here five years ago and I've been with them since then. So far, I like what I have and I haven't had any problems with my electric. Right now, I’m on a two-year plan and when I'd be renewing, they'd send me a text or an email that it was time to renew my energy, then I'd give them a call. And when I’ve called them up, the customer service reps have been really friendly, especially when I renewed. One time, I had an issue on renewing and I was getting confused between renewal and getting my plan. I thought I had renewed, but they said I just changed my plan to average billing and it was not the same thing as renewing. They straightened out that confusion right there and they were very good at explaining to me what my rates would be. They're awesome.

Direct Energy's sign-up process was very easy. I pretty much just had to give my name, my social, and it wasn't a whole process. I renew with them every year. I like their free weekend deal.

I've been with Direct for a while and their rates change, but I like their rates and their rate options. They seem to always have the lowest rate per kilowatt, and they also encompass that with free nights with free weekends. So the rates seemed to be pretty good and their offers that go along with it seemed to be pretty good too.

I had used another company previously, but I switched over to Direct Energy. They were one of the providers in the area, and they were recommended to me by the apartment complex I moved into. I use the power and the heat and the AC, and then I pay the bill. I would always like a cheaper energy bill. But it’s not really a big deal for me.

Our contract with Direct Energy was up a month ago so I renewed. They had the best rate. They were less. When I called, told them my plan was up and asked for their best rate, I didn't spend an hour on the phone. I was able to get it done quickly. Whereas with other electric providers that we've had in the past, it always took 45 minutes to an hour just to renew our plan, which was not time that I gave freely. So far, our experience has been good with Direct Energy.

I've been with Direct for a couple of years and the monthly bills have been good so far. Right now, I'm doing the free nights. But I had one interaction with a rep and it didn't go well. The customer service agent was asking me to verify information and I told her that I've been with Direct already for a few months then. I was confused on why I was getting a phone call. I told her that all of the information she was asking for was already provided when my service was set up. The total formality of the customer service agent was completely changed, and I just said, “Ma’am, you know what? I'm at work, so you have a good day,” and I ended the call.

Direct Energy's customer service team was great. They provided solutions. I haven’t had any issues when I’ve had to call them. They also did great communication on email. Sometimes, they’ll send emails reminding customers about referrals. That is good. The billing is good too. I do automatic pay, so I get an email of when the next pay is. I've been with Direct Energy for about 10 years because I like the simplicity and the bills are not too high.

I heard about another energy company from a friend and I thought they said Direct Energy. So, I looked and it popped up on the internet. They had a good deal and there was an ad that said free weekend starting at 6:00. So, that made me call and sign up with them. I like their service. It's great and every time I’m talking to someone on the phone, they’re very friendly, nice and very helpful. And with them, my bill has gone over 100 one or two times but usually, it's been at a good price range.

Direct Energy had a lower price which was why I went with them but since then, the kilowatt hours have gone up. I’d like to see some information about how to lower it back down. I assumed that they raised it because it was time to renew it.

I found the two bills I got from Direct Energy a little wonky. I moved in on the 1st of November, and they gave me my first bill on the 22nd of November, so it was only 21 days. I’m under an automatic payment and I’m enrolled for the online services, so I called them and told them that they didn’t take the payment out of my account until December 20th. Then, it has been over a month since I paid the last bill, which was for the period that ended all the way back in November and I haven’t seen a bill yet. I asked the rep when I was gonna get the bill and she couldn’t help me. She said it wasn’t ready yet. She was courteous and nice but she wasn’t able to help me with the questions that I was asking. It was not that she didn’t wanna help, it's just that she couldn’t because she didn’t have any information.
I got the bill yesterday for November 22nd all the way through December 27th, and we’re already on the 24th of January. So, when I get my bill and it’s that long of a wait, it makes it hard for me to evaluate why my bill was so high or if I used a lot of electricity because of the heater or air conditioning. I don’t remember if we were doing a lot of laundry or if we were cooking a lot because of the holidays. So, I’m not pleased with how long it takes me to get a bill for the period that I’m being billed for.
I was averaging only 35 kilowatt hours per day on the first bill and on this last bill, it was 50 something kilowatt hours per day. We haven’t changed the way we live over a month, so I’m a little concerned that my bill went from $91 to $216. I can afford that and that’s okay, but there may be people that are having a hard time and they can’t afford that. That’s not a way to do business. Consistency is key and people need to know what to expect. When you can’t tell them what to expect, that’s a big problem. I’m gonna see when this bill pays out and how long it takes to get my next bill. I’m wondering if maybe they were adjusting because I moved in on the 1st of November, which was when I started my service, and was trying to continue it off the cycle of the last owners of the home. I’m gonna see if things start to neutralize or balance out and if it doesn’t and it stays crazy like this, then I’m probably gonna start looking for a new provider.
The power’s never gone off, so that’s a plus and aside from that, the reps have always been very friendly and kind on the phone. But the two times that I interacted with them, they kept trying to sell me this appliance and electronic protection plan. If we get a power surge and if something happens to my equipment, they’ll cover it for up to two years. I told them that I wasn’t interested and they kept pushing, and I don’t like that.

Direct Energy came to my door and offered to beat the price of the company I was with. There wasn’t a lot of specials that they told me. They just told me I would save money, which was what they did. I wish I would have saved more but anything counts right now and I wanna pay less. It was a very good experience.

I moved to Texas and my sister recommended Direct Energy. She had maybe one or two issues where she needed an extension and she never had any issues with Direct Energy granting them or giving her a little extra time. So far, everything has been good but I was just a little disappointed. Direct Energy didn't notify me of the renewal time so I wasn’t aware until I figured it out myself. I could calculate my usage and I noticed that it was unusually high. When I started going through all 12 bills, I realized that the last two said month to month. I understand we should have some level of responsibility here too, but there should be at least an email reminding that it’s renewal time. It caught me off-guard and there is no other way for us to know unless they give us at least a message. But aside from that, I have no complaints. All my expectations were met and every single time I had to deal with them, there have been no issues at all.

I’m never home during the week, so the free weekends are the better option for me because that’s whenever I’m gonna be at home. There has been a 30% or 40% difference in my bill since using them.

I called out First Choice for the other place because that’s who I carry my service with here in Texas, and then they redirected me to Direct Energy. I didn’t know that it was gonna be different till I got my bill in December. I’ve only had them for a couple of months, but it’s working out okay. I made arrangement to debit bill payment from my account and we started off at $13 and somewhat-cents which they deducted in December. Usually they email me when it has been deducted or when they’re gonna deduct, and I noticed for January, they didn’t email me anything. I said, “Maybe they added January and February’s bills together." But I already got notice that on February the 3rd, they’re gonna deduct $23 from my account.
So, I’m wondering if they deducted for January. If not, they’re putting January and February’s bill together. But I haven’t gotten my statement yet. I should get it in the next couple of days. I can verify by then if they deducted from my account this month or they’re just putting what they’re adjusting for two months. That’s what I’m waiting for. I would like to know why all of a sudden it went up from the previous bill in December.

We thought we were paying too much with our other provider so we went with Direct Energy and I'm happy that we switched. Everything is working out fine and their reps are always nice. We’ve been using them for 6 years or so and at one point, we locked-in to a 2-year rate. It was the price of energy at that time so it was really low at that point. But the price and contract that I’m in right now are not as good as it used to be so that’s a little annoying. Also, the website is a little antiquated especially the account part. It does its job but it could be quicker. The only other complaint is, and I don’t know if it’s a Direct Energy thing or a general energy thing, I feel like sometimes on the bill, you see all these different charges and you don’t know what they mean. They just seemed like they just threw them on there just to charge you more money.

I didn’t spend much time with Direct Energy. I was never able to get them to send me information to my right email or number. So I was kind of blind knowing about the contract. They didn’t get my information right and I could never communicate. So there was communication issue.

We've had TXU for years and felt like we were getting robbed. My mom got a knock on her door one day from someone from Direct. I recently moved a few months ago and decided to give them a call myself. I set up everything online and didn't even speak to anyone. It was very easy. I've only had one bill with Direct Energy and so far it's been okay.

We had complained about what we had before 'cause it was a lot more than what the service was gonna be. I've been with that other company for eight years, but I was very disappointed when I was talking to them one time that we had some problems. So, I started looking for something and then my husband's friend told him about Direct Energy. I don't know much about the kilowatts and how much it is and all that, but the way the rep from Direct Energy talked, he made it sound good. He also said that if we keep it for a while and we if didn't like it, all we have to do is call and switch it back to whatever.
The cost is a lot better. I think I signed up for one of those deals that it's gonna be not exactly the same thing all the time, but it rounded it up to whether it's cold or hot, it's gonna be about the same. I like that. That way, you can budget your finance, know exactly what you're gonna spend that month. I told my daughter about Direct Energy and she's got it now. They just got it recently because she's been complaining.

Little girls came by and talked to me about Direct Energy. They were nice, young ladies and they explained everything to me. I understood what was happening, and I was really being overcharged a lot by my previous provider. After I switched to Direct Energy, my bill has been cut down in half. They’re fantastic.

I was referred to Direct Energy and they had good things to say, so I tried it. The pricing was good and they offered free nights or free weekends. I've had them for a couple of months now and there's a difference in my bill. I had free nights on the first month, and now, I only have free weekends which did lower my bill by at least 30%. The plan is perfect for my lifestyle and I have student loans as well, so it really helps up.

I’m very unhappy with Direct Energy. I do not like the whole situation that came about with them as they kinda slammed me. A lady knocked on my door and we talked about a certain plan. I agreed to it, and it was gonna be switched over on a Thursday or Friday. But when the day came for the switch to happen, they said they had canceled my order for whatever reason. Nobody could give me or the rep any reason why it was canceled. I ended up being with no energy for 24 hours and it was cold as hell that day. The lady didn’t get her credit and I was in the dark. I went back to my old provider and then a few weeks later, I got a call or a bill and I was Direct Energy customer all of a sudden. It was without my authorization and I'm guessing the lady never got her credit either. I'm stuck with them as I haven't found another company that I wanna go with yet.

My brother currently has Direct Energy and he recommended it to us. This is our first home and there haven’t been any issues for me. Signing up was simple. I recently had to renew it so I went online, clicked a button and it was renewed. We have the plan where it’s free on weekends and it's great. My wife and I are only home at night on the weekdays, but weekends, we’re there. It's convenient to have.

I bought my house and I had a guy down the road that lives in the Commons where I stay. He said, “You ought to go with Direct Energy. I got the free night plan because I run my pool at night.” So, I went with that plan not knowing that in the daytime, it’s triple the price of energy and it messed me up a little bit. I changed the plan and after I did, everything seems to be going all right as far as the price. The first person I talked to was not helpful, but that was ‘cause I couldn't understand them. The next day when I had time, I called back in and the second person was great. So far, they're easy to get a hold of and it looks like it’s fairly decent on the LED circle price so far. Hopefully, they don’t change.

My sister has Direct Energy, and when I moved into a new apartment she recommended I go with Direct. I’ve used Pogo Energy which was a prepaid electric company, and Direct Energy is actually cheaper because I won’t have to put money on it every other day or every week. It is definitely cheaper for me having to pay my bills altogether at the end of the month, and I like that. And in the first month it was only $10 really.
The weather is nice now, so I just keep the AC or heat off during the day. And then on the weekends, if I wanted to, I could turn the AC on and it’s free. So I like that. The person that I was speaking to both times were very polite. They answered all my questions and weren’t very pushy on anything. So it was great. Direct Energy is a good company to go with and very affordable.

I went with Direct Energy because they have free nights. I feel like their price is still too high even though it is free nights, but that is okay. Direct Energy can lower the cents per kilowatt. The customer service, nevertheless, is very understandable and they’re flexible as far as our payments.

I used to have Direct Energy in my previous address, and I read about them when I was in Houston years ago through some sort of advertising. I went with them this time because of my past experience with them and that they had an energy plan that offered free weekends. I also had other providers in the past but I like Direct Energy better. My girlfriend has Direct Energy, so she put me on it. I had to call them to have the service turned on, and we've had a short and simple interaction. It was really easy to get started on it. I like the 12-hour plan where it's free from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM. It's made my bill a lot cheaper, so it's saving me a lot of money.

I like Direct Energy because it’s consistent. My price isn’t crazy. It’s been good. I've been with them for three years now, and I've dealt with their customer service a few times. And mostly whenever I had any blackout in our area, usually it was dealt pretty good and fast. They were pretty nice. It took a long time for my electricity to get back on, but it was mostly Oncor. So, that part wasn’t their fault. On my second year, I didn’t notice that I had got an email about my year being up and that I needed to renew, and then my energy went up. So if I would’ve gotten something in the mail as well, it would have been easier to know. But overall, everything’s been good.

I've been with Direct Energy since 2015 and it’s better now. I moved into a new house in the middle of October and I put in my request for my electricity be changed. I understand that sometimes, stuff goes awry. However, I got off work at 5:00, went to the grocery store because I was gonna fix dinner and I came home to my lights being off. I immediately called Direct Energy and the guy that I spoke with told me that they were gonna send it to Oncor as an emergency setup. I talked to him, not knowing that they close at 8:00. So, he did not send it over emergency. I called Oncor several times. Then, I called Direct Energy back. They were closed at this point.
The guy that I spoke to blatantly lied to me. He never sent it over to Oncor because Oncor never got it. So, me and my child spent the night in a cold, dark house. Also, my mother-in-law was over here at the time because she was caught up at my house at the time. So, I had Direct Energy on my phone and then I had Oncor on another phone.
I called ahead of time to let Direct Energy know that I was moving. They told me that I have to submit my ID, my social security card to verify I was who I said I was. I do it every time I move and I did all of that. Then, I told them the date that I was moving in. A couple of weeks out and I still didn't have my own electricity. All day that day, my lights were out but I didn't know because when I got out to go to work, the lights were on. I went to work, came home, lights out. The next day, when I got home, my lights were back on. I got my first electricity bill but I have not heard anything from Direct Energy since then. As long as my lights are on now, that's what matters.

It seems to be one of those companies that send people to peoples homes assuring they’re able to reduce the costs of gas bills making phone calls to their own companies (Direct Energy, in this case) and telling you what to answer. Enrolling in a contract that you must renew or else they make you pay up to 3 times the cost of a regular bill.

Furthermore, each representative is required to clearly identify themselves as being with Direct Energy and not the local utility, both verbally and by wearing the appropriate badging and uniform. We do not tolerate aggressive or forceful behavior from our employees. The Door-to-Door sales agents are employed by vendors that we partner with. If the Vendor training is the opposite of our training, we certainly need to know so that we can investigate their actions and take proper action. If possible, please provide the Agent Name, Employee ID or physical description of the representative that came to your door. When I signed up with Direct Energy, told me that by signing up, I was gonna get a gift card after a month and a half for becoming a new member, but they never sent it. Also, the cost fluctuates a lot. All the Oncor charges are ridiculous. When I had to move right after I signed up because I was getting a bigger apartment in the same complex, Direct Energy transferred my service really easily.

So this Meredith ** walked to my door. Reported to be a government official to inspect gas & electric rates in the area for surveys purposes. I was busy so I asked my 13yr old to assist her to confirm our address after I had asked her all sort of questions and confirm her identity. I later heard her asking my son about my date of birth so I immediately became suspicious & refused. I later received a contract that I had signed up with them with forged signature & date of birth. I immediately went out and she was nowhere to be found. I called to cancel, the 1st 3 reps I spoke to acted dum & stayed they couldn’t find my account. While the person I talked to might have been outsourced by the company, I would still count them as part of the company. They called my house today at about 11 am. They wanted to talk to me about my Direct Energy bill (I don't have direct energy) so I know it was a scam. Which it's sad when a legitimate company is resorting to scamming innocent people and wasting their time.
The person I talked said his name was "Shawn and that he worked for Direct Energy" and that he thought we were being overcharged on our current energy bill etc. I told him that we aren't interested with switching companies and to put this number on the do not call list. He then said "Are you sure? I think there is just someone telling you to say this." I then said no one is telling me to say this and to put this number on the do not call list, he then said "I know someone is telling you what to say. I can hear them in the background." I then stated that if they didn't take the number off the call list that I was going to call the authorities. He then hung up. (Not surprising.)
I just find it shameful that this company gave out our phone number for scammers to call us on their behalf and then the people who represent the company are extremely rude, hostile and argumentative. While I don't have Direct Energy currently, I know that I will definitely NEVER use them. I'm still completely shocked by how rude he was. The whole experience has just soured my view of Direct Energy and if they hire people with this kind of behavior then I can only imagine what the rest of their customer service is like.

I've been with Direct Energy for 10 years now for my electricity and it has been fine. I got the 12 months plan. However, the bill has gone a little bit higher the past couple of months than I expected.

I signed up for a promotional deal at my local Bj's wholesale Store in September 2019 for $100 GIFT CARD for switching my services from BGE to Direct Energy. I kindly allotted my time to the representative even though I was actually in a hurry. He looked up the rates and found out that my current services rates were actually a little cheaper. But, since he'd taken out his time and so did I, I still signed up. My mistake. Not only have I PAID the higher rates for months, but I've inquired about my gift cards multiple times only to be told #1 they would be mailing them out in 2 weeks (after a month and half of waiting when they were supposed to come electronically in 10 BUSINESS DAYS)! Ok whatever!
Called again #2: "The cards are arriving in the mail to your address next week". OK! Whatever, so after 3 month's of calling, now I'm being told that there was a delay in the shipping. Somewhere there was an error and the cards will be mailed out in the next 6-8 weeks. NEEDLESS to say, after all the LIES.... I FINALLY CANCELLED!!!! THE INCREASED RATES I'VE PAID, NOW DON'T EVEN EQUAL THE GIFT CARD LIE THAT I WAS PROMISED!!!! Word of the wise, stick to what you know...Deals can also be scams!!!!

I liked the Direct Energy package that I saw. The free weekends are truly free. Their reps made the experience really easy for me. I've been with Reliant just through Direct Energy and I save a lot more money. Direct Energy's service was awesome. I’ve never, ever once had to call to contest anything about my bill. When I needed time for renewal of my contract, it was just a couple of clicks from my cellphone and my contract is renewed again.

I was with Green Mountain way back and then I switched over to Direct Energy. Direct Energy had the best prices at that time. Right now, they still offer the same good service and the advisor app is very easy to use. However, their prices have increased and hasn't gone down since. I still pay approximately around the same amount, which is more now than before. I spoke to a rep a couple of weeks ago to get my bill lowered and they were able to put me on some plan, but it had expired, so they were able to put me back on some other type of plan.

I like Direct Energy's free weekend plan. Since going with them, I have noticed a difference in my monthly bill. The cost of their service is fairly reasonable compared to others. However, once an individual is a customer, one can't get as good of a rate as when one is switching over to them. There is a rate categorized for new customers and another set for existing customers. The same goes for promotions. They had a thing wherein a new customer can get a free Nest thermostat. But, existing customers with a contract up for renewal can't get that. They should still be giving offers to customers that have been with them for a while.

We've been with Direct Energy for a long time and we have them set up as an auto-pay. We haven’t paid too much attention to what the bills have been and it’s hard to keep track of even knowing what the bill was since the credit card pays for the bill every single month and then the credit card gets paid. Then we looked at it and then we thought, “God, these are kind of high.” It was on a month-to-month type rate and so we switched it. We recently signed up for their two-year contract, and we also switched the heat from electricity. So, we're still doing it auto-pay, but the bills are lower than before.

It was cheap in the beginning, and then everything started getting more expensive. My bills went from $60 or $70 a month to $150 or $160. Maybe this is because of the summer and running the AC doubles up the bill. I started with Direct Energy during spring time last year in October and it was cheap. But now, it’s winter again and my bill only lowered to about $120.

TXU in Texas was charging extremely high prices. I tried to find a better company that's a smaller company that does the same business. I found Direct Energy and so far, the switch has been good. They gave me a free smart home device which was really cool of them. Additionally, Direct Energy has not been really pushy about all things. Sometimes I might be late to pay 'cause I don't always know that I need to pay for something. Direct Energy has been telling me "hey, this is due".

We've had Direct Energy for about three years. I like that they're reasonable every time I have a question or my bill is too high. And if I have issues, they're always quick to resolve it. Their customer service so far has been really good, which is a big thing to me. And then, their cost is just so much cheaper than a lot of the ones we’ve had before. We’ve never done fixed rate just because we were not really home as much at that time whenever they were there. But it was just gonna be more cost-efficient to do what we have now with the weekend and stuff. We started the free weekends about two months ago, so that’s what we have now. Before, our bill was $200 to $250. But then I moved all of my doing laundry and all of my other stuff to just the weekend when it’s free, and I’ve noticed about half the cost has gone down.
Our monthly payment is on automatic withdraw, so they just take it out of my account. We’ve gotten credit because we do payments on time, which is always a bonus. I referred my brother and my best friend to Direct Energy, and they also have them. So, every time that I refer someone, we usually get a $50 credit too, which is also a good incentive. I really like them.

Direct Energy's number was on a list of electric companies when I got a lease when I moved here. I got them when they were able to show up quicker than a couple other ones. I got free weekends with them and so far, I didn't have any issues. While I need to call someone ‘cause I need to turn my service off at the end of the month, using Direct is fine.

I’ve been living here since 2012, which is about seven years now but I’ve used Direct Energy for over 10 years. I’ve always gotten good rates and it’s affordable. I’ve called customer service a couple of times about a high bill and how we are on this flexible rate. I wanna stick to that for a while then, and it goes back down.

After I googled and talked to a few different providers, Direct Energy is the best priced and has the best rate. They were also the ones that I could talk to directly and the quickest and I actually was able to talk to a person instead of an automated deal, which was one of the big deciding factors. So, I just acquired their service for my rental property and the first bill so far is good. At this point, I’m happy with them.

With Direct Energy, I see my bill come up at 68 or 75. However, my friend called me, while I'm at work 'cause I drive a truck and I’m not at home all the time, and he said that the bill came up this month at 101. Still, using Direct is good.

The website was easy. I get on there and pay my bill. Their bill is really high if you’re not in a contract. It’s like y’all kinda force people to be in a contract. When I first got them, I had a three-month contract, and after the three-month contract, the only other options I had was the 24 or 36 months. When I moved into my new house, I finally signed a year of contract, but when I was outta there, the kilowatt hours were really high.

Before getting Direct Energy, I had Green Mountain as my provider and that was very expensive for me. With Direct Energy, I have free rates on Friday and Saturday and during the weekdays, I'm at work and I don't need too much electricity. There's so much difference in my monthly bill. Still, I'll be happier if they make the free weekends from Friday to Sunday.

We are very happy with Direct Energy. They give us a good rate and weekends off, which is why we stay with them. Before, our bill comes so high sometimes so we talked to them about it and asked what the problem was. They told us to change the filters, and since we don’t like air condition too much, we started turning it off. I would recommend Direct Energy.

I used to live with somebody who had Direct Energy and I’d seen something out of one of the bills and I called it. I've been with them for 5 years already and they're the only one I’ve ever been with. I work most of the time so I really don’t get to use anything and my bill’s always low. And then in the summer when my daughter’s here, my bill doesn’t go high even when she’s at the house all day. So, Direct Energy is a good reliable service and I like their rate as well.

I was referred by my mother to Direct Energy, and I've had their service for about 3 months already. There are other providers that are lower but I’ve given Direct a chance. Still, my bills have been a lot higher with Direct and I've spoken with them but they can’t explain why. I've had Direct Energy for more than three years now and I've kept the same plan. Every once in a while, they send you a new thing saying that your plan is expired, and you always try and negotiate down a little bit cheaper than you had, and they usually do it for me. My monthly bill is what I expect it to be, especially, I live in Houston, and I use my air conditioner about 10 months out of the year for the most part.

I was originally with Reliant, and they upped the rates and I wasn’t super happy. I then went to the powertochoose.org site and I was skimming through. Direct Energy offered better rates at the time, so I switched to them. As long as everything’s good, I typically stay with the same person. In the last three years, I’ve been on their little program where it’s free weekend. It works better for us. My husband and I work. My kids are in school. So, we’re not really home a lot on the weekdays, and we’re home a lot on the weekends, which just ends up being better. I had a couple of issues with Direct Energy about two years ago though. I called, chatted and complained, but then they fixed it, so it seemed to be okay.

I'm satisfied with Direct Energy. I've had them for about four or five years now, and my bills have been lower. I called them once when I had a power outage and they handled my situation well.

When my contract with Direct Energy was due for renewal, it took some time before it got renewed. Also, a couple of times, there was a high bill. Still, after that, things have been good. The free weekends are great, which I didn't have earlier. It’s easier for me because those are the days when I’m free to do most of my chores.

Direct Energy came by knocking on our door, and the salesperson sounded professional. At that time, I was told that I was gonna be on a rate for elderly disabled. But apparently, the salesperson didn’t tell me it’s just the regular rate. We got into a two-year contract and have had them for a couple of months now. However, looking at my second bill, it is over $200. As I haven’t noticed a difference in the pricing, I contacted them and they explained to me about the Onshore Energy charge that’s 50 something dollars added to the bill, and everybody has to pay. But I’ve never had a bill that shows that. So, I need some clarity on what the product is and of what I can expect, especially since I was expecting our bill to be less than $100 according to the salesperson.

I've had Direct Energy in different places for 8 years now. Their service is good and it doesn't fluctuate too much. Although it might fluctuate a few cents or a few dollars here and there depending on how much usage I use, still, it’s cool. Also, I use my app for everything and it’s easier ‘cause I can multitask.

Direct Energy’s rates have been competitive and I stayed with them because of that but for the last year or so, they have fluctuated to where they have some competitors that I’ve considered changing to. Still, their rates have been more reasonable than some others. My plan is getting ready to end next month and when my plan starts ending, I go and see what Direct Energy currently has and I try to find a competitor that can beat it because I’m always trying to find a lower rate. I usually start shopping a couple of months ahead of time.
Sometimes, I have a struggle seeing everything because sometimes, the plans are not offered online that I’ve discussed with Direct Energy. If they're not offered online, then I’ll call it in and renew it. I prefer to do my information online, however, I found that I can find better rates at times if I call in versus them being visible to me online. Direct Energy usually doesn't offer any service to existing customers though. Maybe if I'm a newcomer, I might have a little bit more incentive.
It was a challenge getting the specs of the type of plan that they didn't have listed online because I’m the one who looks at the rate, like the fees and the taxes. I go into detail of how the money is being paid because I don't like any outstanding or background fees that I’m not aware of, so I look at the detail sheet and sometimes, there’s a challenge of getting those sheets and being able to compare. I would like to make those more accessible. I don't know how they come about having the rates, but since I’m an existing customer, I’m not sure why I would have to call in and get that special rate that's not listed online. It’ll make my research a lot easier.
Sometimes, my summer months hits my budget a lot, which is why I like the control because I may not be able to pay the bill. I’m gonna have to try to figure out how I’m gonna get my bill paid and so, I have to pay a little bit at a time in order to not accumulate fees. It would be nice that we could have an incentive and use it at certain times to just kinda relieve those certain times of the year that can be hard.

Previously, I was with Reliant as my energy provider and I was only paying $160. The rep I spoke to from Direct Energy told me that I would be paying less with them. We trusted the salesperson because he was recommended by a friend of the family. However, what he said wasn't the case. My bill for a week was $72 and my other bill was $212. My mom signed up as well and her bill came to $400 and she was pissed. She called in and Direct Energy discounted the bill for her and changed her plan. I’m gonna give it another month and I’m gonna see what happens. If not, I'll break Direct Energy's contract, pay the $125 and go back to Reliant. Direct Energy should be more upfront with customers.

I've been with Direct Energy since end of October. I wanted to see if their plan made any sense for me, and it looked like it could. It’s just a little hard to figure out how much I’m paying for and what I’m not. Also, I’ve contacted them one time, because part of the plan I signed up for was this Amazon Echo thing, but the one I got was not working. They were not able to replace it so they gave me a credit, but it was less than what a new one would cost. Overall, I’m not super impressed but I still think that I’m getting good electricity.

It’s pretty good with Direct Energy. My sister had it, so I got it. I called them over the phone to sign up and it was easy. The 12 hours overnight was pretty easy plus I kinda like how they did that free. I haven’t had any problems with Direct Energy except I got a bill, and it said it got a late payment.

Direct Energy is way better than the other energy that Pedro got out of Houston called Frontier -- they were the worst ever. We originally had come to Direct Energy and at the same time, we inquired about Frontier. And then Frontier switched our electricity after Direct Energy was our electricity for a while, so we had a $12 bill from Direct Energy. Then suddenly, when we were with Frontier, they disconnected us for $36. They had us waiting for two days to reconnect. It was a misunderstanding but two days was a long time to wait. I suffer from a chronic illness so no matter how much I told them that it was an emergency, they couldn't seem to find out why they weren't connecting the service back. So we were without lights for two days.
For some reason, they thought we had agreed to the service when we had already agreed with Direct Energy because we liked the rate. So when we moved, we decided, "No, we're gonna stick with Direct Energy," because they're so much easier to deal with. With Frontier, everything was over the phone or online. You had to wait until the next day, so it was a bad experience. As with Direct Energy, on the other hand, Pedro said that the guys there were easy to deal with versus the folks over at Frontier, because nobody could explain anything to us there. It was always that they had to escalate it and somebody would call us, but then nobody would. We have been with Direct Energy for a few months, but we still got old bills from the old department that we're trying to clear out.

My experience with Direct Energy has been great. We've had them for two and a half months now. I signed up with them online and it was super easy and fast. I was able to choose a fixed rate plan and I have free weekends. So far, my monthly bill is about what I expected. I just pay my bills online and everything is good.

Their service was pretty poor at first, especially when I had to call about something, you would talk to somebody that couldn't speak English and couldn't get the questions answered and couldn't get anything done. I was very disappointed. My big complaint would be have somebody American to talk to and not a 30-minute answering machine to go through and then get somebody who couldn't even speak English. That's poor business. But since then, it has improved. I call very seldom about a problem. But most of the time, it's better than it was. They got us on a lower rate, but it got pretty high. And the fellow was very helpful. But the bills are a lot better now. I got them lowered a couple of months ago.

With other companies we have, our bill was almost 500 the last time. They said it wasn't because of their company. It was because of something else. Then, my fiance's mom told us about Direct Energy, so we switched to that one. Direct Energy is good so far. I signed up over the phone and their reps were good. I noticed, however, that the bill has been going higher.

We moved to Texas and signed up with Direct Energy which was easy to do. I did it all online and got it all switched over. It was pretty painless and it took five minutes to finish everything. We've received three bills so far and we've noticed that it's been a little bit more. But where we were at before was a little bit more rural. Then where we are now is a big area so I assume that it will be a little higher. But last month was a lot lower than the previous two months. We got one of the Nest thermostats for the air conditioner in the house and it lowered our energy bill quite a bit.
I had to call Direct Energy one time to get our first bill 'cause there was some stuff that was on it that was unclear and they explained everything. It didn't take long and I didn't have to wait. I also had to talk to them over the phone when I was setting up my auto-debit for the billing. All in all, it's a good experience and we have been pleased with everything so far.

I had First Choice before, and when I called to get a better rate, I was connected to Direct Energy. They are pretty much the same, but the one is prepaid service and the other is a contract rate. But, the thing that I liked about the other company that they let me know how much money that I save by having the free nights or weekends. Direct Energy, on the other hand, gave me the 12-month deal that came with an Echo Dot machine that I got. Their website is okay, but it could be more mobile–friendly.

I've had Direct Energy for 4 years now, and I switched plans this year so they're not the same ones they were before that. I used to be on free weekends but now, I have free nights. My monthly bills skyrocketed because of the electric heater, but it still seems similar from the past year. About a year ago, they used to do a weekly how-much-energy-you-used deal, and every week I would see a picture. There's a little graph of how much I used and what it cost me a week. And it used to have a graph of temperature on there also, so it’s like, “Okay, it’s 100 degrees today. I used a lot more energy. Okay, that makes sense.” But they got rid of the temperature part and now it’s just how much energy. I like the one with the temperature better as that makes sense in a simple way so bringing it back would be helpful.

I had Ambit Energy, and I got tired of paying around $300 a month for electricity. The rep from Direct Energy told me I would pay less if I switched to them, and it was. Sometimes, my monthly bills are high with Direct Energy despite the fact that there's always nobody at home during the day. Sometimes, I try to negotiate with them, but still, there are no changes. Other times, I've been in bad conversations with one of the people in their team because my electricity was extremely high. I told them that they needed to do something but they said there was nothing they could do. They said they were going to set the appointment to come out and read my meter again but nobody showed up. Still, I'm comfortable with Direct Energy's service. I like how with them, I have a weekend free.

I had a different provider before I had Direct Energy and I wouldn’t go back to that other bunch. I’ve been with Direct Energy for at least three years and I like the service very much. My mom had Direct Energy when she had her old house before Hurricane Harvey knocked her out. She went back to them because she’s 83 years old and she’s set to her line. Everything is okay and she has re-signed with them. She's been happy with Direct Energy.

I have multiple properties with different power providers. We lose power a lot. With Direct Energy, I got a text and they fixed the issue within two or three hours. With them, our bills have been average.

I moved to my small two-bedroom house and I'm not even using anything. I shut off some of the breakers because my bill was a little high -- my bill was 180 and I was used to paying only 70. I have a washer and dryer now, but still it's $100 more. My last consumption was around 600 watts and now it's almost 1,600. So, I am trying to figure out why it is a little high when I am using the same or less amount of electricity I used in my apartment. Nevertheless, I like the app a lot and it's really handy. So far, I check on it constantly to see if it affects the pricing, and it is 15% less. So, it would be 150 next bill, but I was hoping it would then be 100 or 120 moving into this new place. I understand that it is a home, but the last place, I had two window AC units and I had them running constantly, like 24/7, and then I would have some of the lights on in the house.

I had had one outage in the area and it took them 15 minutes to repair it, so it has been good. I was satisfied with the timeframe. Direct Energy is good and helpful. Getting started with them was really easy. I did it all on my phone and it did not take too long. The monthly rate is obviously higher in the summer months, but it is otherwise good.

Direct Energy did a door-by-door thing and they had good rates at that time, so I have switched that day when they came by. But now, I switched over to Gexa. Direct Energy's rates kept going up, and the offers that they had versus the other providers weren't as good.

I liked the flexibility of the different plans and that there is a page I go to for month-to-month options. I have rental properties where I change whoever’s name the electricity is at some point, and so I have that flexibility to have it in my name while I’m working on a property. Then, I can cut it off and convert it as needed. In the past, I had a property in Houston where I was using TXU and sometimes it was a pain any time I’m dealing with them. But with Direct Energy, it is smooth and fast. So far, I’m really impressed with the customer service. Because when the lights turn on, the lights turn on. Everybody can do that. But any issue I’ve had, or getting it connected, it’s been really easy.

I have Direct Energy at home and have had the service for a few years now. I've noticed a difference in the price since having them and their representatives are usually attentive. If we have a power outage in the fall and I ask by how long it would be out, they were usually correct on how soon it will be back. And that’s usually due to a storm and not because of them. I’m happy with them.

I had CPL, which was under mine and my ex husband's name and I needed to change the billing to my name. The Direct Energy rep helped me a lot. He explained the plan that he put me in, that it’s gonna be lower, which I was a little skeptic, but he did good. He was very professional. I received the bill but I don’t understand how my light bill is so high if I live here by myself. If it's cool outside, I usually have my AC off. The only thing I have on during the day is my TV and if I’m doing something from school on my laptop.

I’ve been a customer of Direct Energy since 2012. Every once in a while, their competitors would have better prices and try to get me to come over. And I’d generally call and see if Direct Energy can give me a cheaper price per kilowatt hour. Direct Energy seems to be pretty good about making sure that I’m taken care of. They don’t seem to just let things go by the wayside. I’ve spoken to some people on the phone when I called in and had a question, or with the billing, and it was pretty good. The biggest issue is getting service from Oncor.

I've been with Direct Energy for years, when I moved into my apartment. I just went online to look for electrical providers in my area. They had a lot of good reviews, and with the past experience with the other companies, I just decided to try someone new. Their service has been straightforward compared to other companies. So far, I've only renewed twice because before, I was on a month to month. And last year, I got some email where they had the offers and I said, "Okay, this is a thing." So I did that, and then I just recently renewed, within the past week or two.

I love Direct Energy. My mom has had it for years. When I moved back to Dallas, she said I needed to get it with Direct so that was why I went with them. I was with Ameren when I was in Missouri and Direct Energy is a lot cheaper. I like the deal that I made which I started out with, which allows me to save more. I don't have to consume all the time because on the weekends when I got the kids, it's a lot easier to let them have everything on, knowing that I'm not killing myself with a bill. The customer service is wonderful as well.

I’ve had Direct Energy for a while now on a couple of different houses that I’ve moved to. There were a couple of times where I had to cancel service and then I would end up getting them again. I called the other day because I hadn’t gotten a bill, and the rep gave me the due date. It was great service.

I heard about the free nights so I got Direct Energy, but it sucks. What I have in my house are the solar panels. During the day, my energy goes to a negative. That means I make more electricity than needed from the electrical company. During the day, I should not be charged at all. Now, free nights just means that beginning at 9 o’clock at night towards 9:00 in the morning, all the energy, electricity charge should’ve been taken care of by Direct Energy, only to find out later that they didn’t do that. They took the entire balance for the month and multiplied it by 0.55, 55% usage, then charged me based on that. That’s the wrong way to do it because I got misled by assuming that the nights used are free of charge. And it actually isn’t.
In the end, my electrical charge is way higher than before. Back in the days, I had this free weekend deal with Champion Energy. So, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, those energy, electricity uses are free. Monday through Thursday, those are being charged, but we use less energy during the week than in the weekend. So, to make a comparison, I’ve paid $70, $80 per month while with Champion. Now, I’m with Direct Energy, I have to pay $140 a month. So, that’s a very steep increase. Assuming that if the night deal is true, it shouldn’t even hit that high. It should’ve been in the 40’s and 50’s.
I did a very detailed research on how they actually charge my energy usage and found out they did a basket calculation. They didn’t segregate the usage according to the hours. Right now, I’m looking for the next guys to go through. Within a matter of a month or two, I’m gonna be switching to another company already. I'm in a contract but I'd rather pay the penalty right now than keep doing this. It’s not gonna help. I'm only gonna end up paying more.

I have a coworker who referred me to Direct Energy last year when I moved into my apartment. He told me that in Texas, Direct Energy has one of the greatest rates, so I went with his word on that and signed up in September 2018. My lease was up in the apartment and when I was gonna transfer my service over to my new place, it turned out my service was cancelled accidentally. I guess another person in the apartment had another service come out, and they put the wrong address. It interrupted my service, but they didn't charge me anything for it. So, now, I’m under a new contract at my new place. They were able to correct it. I love using the app to pay my bills, see my usage and all the good stuff. I noticed that in summer, I use more of the AC, so my bill goes up. In winter, I use more of the heater, and my bill goes up again. But I think that’s normal. I use Atmos for my natural gas now. I didn't know Direct Energy provided that.

My friend said I could save money with Direct Energy. I signed up over the phone. The team at Direct Energy was great. I've had the service for a month and I just got my first bill. It's roughly pretty close to my previous provider, but it is a little bit cheaper. So far, so good.

My father uses Direct Energy and I feel like my father’s a very trusting person in what he chooses, so I went ahead and went with Direct Energy. I am locked into a 12-month contract with free weekends and 13.5 cents per kilowatt hour. My experience has been a mix of here and there. They could improve on their communication and problem solving. At first, when I moved initially, everything was very flaky. People were telling me different things, and nobody was really helping me. They were just trying to point the finger at a different person, and they were giving me a lot of problems, not a lot of solutions. But as of recently with the issue that happened, the person that helped me yesterday was fairly competent and helped me very well.

Signing up with Direct Energy was easy. I called them, and then they signed me up right away. And then, it was a year agreement. The only thing I didn't like is that the price went up after a year and I couldn't get the same promotion. I had to get a new promotion but it was more than what I was paying the first time. They tried to be helpful. They told me it was just the price that they have after renewing. But they're okay, they're not bad.

Soooo...found out today that Direct Energy lies on how much they will charge you. They claim that they were only charging 12.9 per kWh but then charges me 18.5 per kWh. ON TOP OF THAT they charged me $90 dollars claiming it was Centerpoint's fee for "maintaining". I called Centerpoint and they said that they do not charge that much. Basically, 1 month in and I am already looking for a new electric company.

I’ve been paperless for a while now. Also, I had a few complaints about my billing, and they worked with me. Their people who work in the service department got the skills. I've been using Direct Energy for a long time. I was with Reliant, and then my bills kept getting higher, so I called Direct Energy and got a better rate. I didn't realize my contract had expired, and my bills went way up. It'd have been nice if I had got a phone call letting me know that my contract was worn out so that I can continue it without having the high rate for several months without realizing what has happened. But I was going to get another plan, and I got on there and I just ticked the plan, and it wasn't right for me. So, I called and they picked the right plan for me. I haven't received a bill yet to see in what sense it's gonna help, but other than that, everything's good.

I work in a fair and Direct Energy was doing a promotion there. I signed up for it but they ended up transferring my information over when I was doing a survey for them. They switched my company, but I liked it and it wasn’t a problem. The rep just didn't make it clear with me. It wasn't a big deal, though. I love their service. They were really polite and they tried to give me the best options. I also like the little fees.

When I signed up with Direct Energy, everything was set up online. The website was pretty helpful, and I like that it was very explanatory. Everything was pretty much in detail, and then, they gave me what they promised on the website. Direct Energy hasn’t failed on me. It did not turn off while we had tornadoes in the area. So, I am happy about that. The price is a little high on the wattage, but that’s not a big issue for me.

My experience with Direct Energy has been okay, but my bill is still kinda high when I got it. And it kinda turned out the same with my previous provider. The bill is coming out ridiculous. So, there was no real change at all. My last bill was 560, and then half of that month, I switched to Direct Energy, and when the bill came, it was 250. So, it was prorated half of the month. If I would wait another month, it’d probably be another 600 or 500 again. Also, switching over to them was pretty easy, except I didn’t know that they didn’t help out with other fees such as cancellation fees which I wasn’t aware of. Most providers will help you out with the termination fees from your other company. Direct Energy didn’t help out with the termination fee. I’m not that satisfied.

My mom had Direct Energy before she passed away and I had to change the names on it to mine four months ago. The service is looking pretty good and I haven’t had any problem with it. When there’s thunderstorms or something like that, it doesn’t go away that fast. Also, their reps were good and nobody treated me badly. It's a good service and I'm satisfied. My sister already got a house and she got Direct Energy right at the get-go.

I thought Direct Energy was gonna be pretty cheap. Overall, the amount is a lot. It's taken a lot of my income. The kilowatts went up. I've talked to them. They said it was just locked in for a year. After that, it could change. I'm not happy with that. I have free weekends and it seems like it's not free. I only use my washer and dryer on Friday and Saturday when it's free. But there's no change in it. I don't see a difference. I have been looking for another one with lower kilowatts, 'cause I'm on a fixed income and I use a CPAP machine, so I have to have something that's reliable.

Direct Energy is comparable to my previous provider. Our monthly bill could be better though. I renew for two years, and about a year later, they want me to renew again. I renew every year even when I signed up for two years, and it increases the cost. And then I call and tell them that, and they say, “Oh well, this is how we’re doing it.” I don’t have a choice, so I don’t even bother anymore. I just sign up. It's about a penny difference but I need to sit down and decide, “Do I need to go to another company? Do I need to go here? What do I need to do?” I shouldn’t need to do that every year. If I signed up for a year, that’s fine. And they have a tendency to do it always, like in July in Texas when it is the highest cost ever, and so that’s frustrating. I looked up providers on the internet and went with Direct Energy due to price. Signing up online was easy and quick. I signed a contract for a year at a fixed rate, and it's all good.

A Direct Energy rep came to my door and I liked what he said. He was wonderful. Direct Energy is way better than the provider I've had before. The cost of electricity was a lot different and that’s one reason I liked it. My bill is reasonable most of the time. So far, I'm satisfied with Direct Energy. I've had really good luck with them. The service is great. It might go out on bad weather, but not more than what everybody over here has sometimes.

I was with TXU originally and I didn't like them too much. When I happened to pass by Direct Energy, I thought to give it a try. I took advantage of the free weekend. TXU has a day and night plan and the weekends one is much easier to use. There has been a drop in price, but it's winter and I don't like having my heater on, so I don't and I'm never home. I'd tell others who ask about Direct Energy that it's good to take advantage of all the deals.

We switch over to Direct Energy due to the cost of the energy. I called them up on the phone to sign up and the representative was fine. We're supposed to have the 12-hour from 9:00 to 9:00 free energy, overnight but we don't have it. Hopefully, it'll be good 'cause we’ve kinda trained ourselves to run the dishwasher and the washer and dryer at night.

I've had Direct Energy since we moved in last year. it came recommended by our Realtor. I don't like their rates. They're way too high. Right now, I'm stuck in between the two plans that I chose and I feel deceived into getting the second plan because I was under the impression it was gonna be a cheaper route for me to go, and it ended up being more. So all around, I'm not happy and I'm stuck in a rate for two years, so I can't go anywhere. And I'm not paying them the money to get out of it, so I'm just gonna deal with it. I'd tell others considering Direct Energy to just be careful because they can lie.

I rented an apartment for my daughter in Abilene and Direct Energy was recommended. I contacted them about getting service there to the apartment and that worked out so well, I called them and had the same thing here at the house. The price is decent and weekends are free, which is when we’re home most times. The bills are quite a bit less so we’ve been able to save more money and do the things we like to do. It has been the best experience I’ve had so far.

About three years ago, a door-to-door salesperson came to my front door and introduced me to Direct Energy and I ultimately signed up that way. At the time, they had an excellent rate on their kilowatt-hours and they also offered a free Nest thermostat as an incentive for a three-year contract. Direct Energy seems to be better in price. The provider I had before was significantly higher with some hidden costs that Direct Energy did not have. When I called to inquire about a potential contract renewal, they gave me the information I needed and I made my own decision apart from that. I renewed with a 12-month plan rather than a three-year. I liked the rate better with the 12-month and liked to leave my options open a little bit more than what a three-year plan would do.

When I moved into my apartment, I got a list of energy providers. Then I got on a website where there was a summary that said that the plan with Direct Energy was really good for small apartments. So, I went with them. I signed up online and the process was good. They sent an email confirmation and the whole thing was fairly easy to do. I've been with them since late August and I have seen one bill so far. It has been good.

I recently moved to the weekend free plan, but the bill is the same as what I was paying before or even more. I'm a little confused about whether my plan is effective or if I still have the previous plan. Aside from that, everything is pretty good. Direct Energy is seamless and there are no issues with any portal, payment or customer service.

When we bought our house, the existing owners had Direct Energy and we kept it. We told Direct Energy what we had, what we wanted, our names and then switching it over to our name was over and done with. It was short, sweet and carefree. We’ve had them now for a month or so and I’m happy with what they've got so far.

When I went to Direct Energy’s website their charge was per unit or whatever was cheaper but they have a lot of those extra charges like TXU and a bunch of stuff that I didn’t have to pay with Reliant. Direct Energy’s bills are a lot more. Also, I got two separate bills at separate times of the month and I would like those bills to come on the same day, at the same time in one statement. Those two properties are right next door to each other so, I don’t understand why that can’t happen. I reached out to Direct Energy once and I thought it was fixed. The interactions with the team at Direct Energy have been fine and they were nice. I felt like they understood what I wanted but it didn’t happen, so I just let it go but it would be nice if that would happen.
