The customer service of Direct Energy was good. However, they should update their app. When I transferred, 'cause I just moved to a new home from my apartment, the app took forever to upload the new surveys and it would freeze and not show the right information for a while.

The rating for my area was the best with Direct Energy. The rep of Direct Energy was also very good. I also like that I was without less power than anybody. Everybody of my relatives was out of power and I wasn't.

I saw that their plans would work for me so I tried it. I signed up online and the website was very easy to follow. The steps were there already. My plan is cheaper than what I used to pay before and the service has been very reliable so far.

Direct made moving pretty easy. I don't think it even cost anything. Also, they're better than the last one I had, which was Gexa.

The overall functionality and reliability of the service are pretty good. We've had outages every now and again, but not extended. I renewed with them online and the website was easy enough to use.

At first, it was pre-paid and Direct Energy had a good rate. And then, I moved to a contract thing. But here lately, my rate has went up, so I have been shopping around, only because it has went up more than it should have. The reps said that as far as my rate, that's the best they could do and that they appreciate me being there a long time. Direct Energy should take into consideration the longer that the customer is there. When you're dedicated to a company, they should show some kind of appreciation to you. I understand we're paying for services. It's like being at a job. They should give you an evaluation, and if you never miss a payment, give you some kind of incentive to stay. Because there are a lot of electric companies that call you, wants you to move to them, and have cheaper rates.
Also, I get on my app, but sometimes it's hard to even get on it. There have been times when I couldn't even pay my bill on the app. And then when I call in, I give them my phone number and it wouldn't pull up my account either. Sometimes when I call, I can't understand them. I try to work with that. But other than that, it has been fine. They say that they do what they can. So, I just go along with it.

I was with TXU, but it was getting so expensive. Then, a Direct Energy rep talked me into switching and then I got the bill and it's made a big difference. Last month, my bill was 273 and then I got my Direct Energy bill and it was only 75.

We've got an odd set-up here in Texas. Direct Energy is my electric company and CenterPoint handles everything. I've dealt with Direct Energy for years and they've been fine. They call me for bills and I pay them via phone.

I'm in the solar business and I know the rates should be anywhere between 10 and 12 cents a kilowatt hours what I paid in Florida and Direct Energy was like 11.5. It sounded good to me. It's been pretty good.

I switched over from being with Bounce and it automatically rolled over. The only thing was I kept forgetting and trying to sign in my old Bounce account. Then I went for a while not having a plan but that was on me. I did talk to somebody and they reached out but I wasn't ready to sit down that day. It was super easy to switch over. I researched a plan and then signed up with a woman over the phone. The lady was pretty nice. I was looking for whatever was the cheapest and the plan that I wanted was in Direct Energy. I recommended them to other people already because they're easy to use and my price has always been great. I had an issue where I forgot to pay my bill. I thought I had set up automatic payment, and I never finished the process. The lights were on way quicker than they said it would be.

Direct Energy had that promotion going on that was very suitable for my situation. I enrolled online then I had to call customer service to finalize everything and it went pretty smoothly. They answered all the questions that I needed to be answered. They were very thorough, detailed, and nice. They found different rates and found one that suited me very well. People should try out Direct Energy because not only do they have polite customer service, they are also very understanding and they make sure that customers understand what they're getting into before they agree to the contract. They also find different options and ways that work with the customer's lifestyle.

I was under the assumption that I wouldn't be in any kind of contract things with Direct Energy programs, but Energy Ogre did it anyway. So, I got rid of them, and now I'm in a 12-month contract with Direct Energy. I appreciate the reminders for the bill. And my power is on, so I'm good.

I use Direct Energy once in a while for a very small range of time. I'm in the contract rate free plan that I chose so I wish that in the future, I can cancel the plan through the website. But I need to call the customer service to do that, and for the contract rate also. Other than that, I'm happy with the service.

Direct Energy had the cheapest deposit. Signing up with them was simple and quick. I got a new phone and my auto login was deleted. And when I tried to reset it, the email never got sent to me. I get my emails about my bills but not when I try to log in. Other than that, I like Direct Energy better. I would recommend it.

Direct Energy went to my door and said, “We’re offering this. If you want to take a look at it, we'll send you some paperwork. You got three days to decide whether you want to change or not.” Next thing I know, I'm with Direct Energy. I didn't exactly agree upon the changes to my energy until I found out from my other provider that my service with them had been canceled when I had not agreed upon changing up with Direct Energy. So, it was something that was totally done without my approval. The rep was nice though. She explained what Direct Energy offers and the different types of programs.

I switched over to Direct Energy a year ago. All of a sudden, I got an email from them that my year was going to be up. I looked around at different plans and found another Direct Energy plan. I went through powertochoose.org and got set up through that. The thing about Direct Energy is they need to improve their app. It sometimes doesn't get me all the information that I'm looking for. I was concerned when we had the winter storm here in Texas and I wasn't able to track my usage or how much I was gonna have to pay. It turned out that there weren't any issues but I just couldn't check it.

We had a big winter freeze two months and I'm all electric, so I expected the electric bill to be crazy. But it was not, so I was very surprised. It was very reasonable. I was very happy.

I liked Direct Energy's start time that they had on their free weekends. It was two hours earlier than Reliant. So, I could get more done on the weekends. I had Reliant for a long time. And then I was with Direct for two years. And then that contract expired, so then I signed up again, just recently, with a thing again for one year this time. Because that was what they had a good rate on. It's $11 something. I listened to them when they ran down all their plans. Because they could look at all my usage over the past year, and they told me which plan would be better for me. And they hit it right on the nail when the rep told me that my bill would be averaging between $90 and $99. And the last two bills since I started have been $99. It was good on their calculation on what I'm used to doing.
I pay my bills through my banking app. I always get emails about use this and things going on, so it's updated. And they break it down. The bills are simple to read and understand. Everybody did what they told me they were going to do. I tell everybody about my free weekends. Everybody in my circle of friends knows that I get to start my free weekends at 6 o'clock and not 8 o'clock. I'm very happy with Direct Energy.

My wife hooked me up with Direct Energy. Right now, I've been very content. Direct Energy has been better to me and affordable out of the providers I used. They have good sales reps. They're humble people and they explained everything how it should be. That was what made us go with Direct Energy. I have recommended them to a lot of other people that also probably went with them. I informed my friends that I don't have any problems with my bills.

My last provider got more expensive last year so I decided to switch. The process with Direct Energy was super simple and it was pretty trouble-free. I just filled out their paperwork and I didn't even have to contact my old company. Setting up payments is all automatic. I barely had to do anything. So far, my bills are lower than they were the year before.

When I enrolled with Direct Energy, one guy was insistent on my getting surge protection. I explained that I didn't want it. But other than that, everything else is going okay. Their website is fine too. Initially, I had issues logging in. But one of their representatives assisted me and I haven't had any trouble since.

I like Direct Energy. The kW is a lot less. They don’t charge me so much for kW. So the price is very reasonable. Their price was affordable compared with the other electric company that I was with. The reps were very professional and courteous. Direct Energy is very reliable. The price don’t go up. So I’m pretty satisfied.

Direct Energy is better than Texas Electric where I got overcharged. I don't feel that with Direct. I've never been unhappy with them. If I have a problem or I need to renew, I have no issues.

Direct Energy had better rates but I wasn't too happy because in the month of December, January and February, I had to come up with over $200 because they've raised the rate. They kept on going up higher and higher and higher. Direct Energy is not good as far as making payment arrangements. During the pandemic, there were a couple times that I asked for an extension and they said that I wasn't either eligible for one because I had already asked for an extension previously or I asked if they could redo my payment arrangements. But I still accepted the terms of the new contract because it’s giving me a lower and fixed rate. When my contract was over, they said that I was under a variable rate, that they could put me on a fixed rate for less than 11.0 kilowatts. They told me how much it will come out and so far, so good.

Some friends of mine used Direct Energy at one time before and they said it was a good company and that I should try it. Signing up was very quick and easy. Customer service talked to me about different plans and some of them were too high. I told them what I was interested in, which was the one that they sold me on. I didn't want a plan that was too expensive on a monthly basis and I didn't want one where you paid a certain amount. I wanted to be able to have an electric bill that I pay in full every month and be done with it.
I've been satisfied with the plan that I have. I pay my bill over the phone and get a confirmation number. I'm used to doing that. As soon as I call the number, it says, “We found an account under the name of... and if this is you, press one.” It tells me exactly what my bill is, what I just paid for the last bill, and what my new bill is. That's all I ever need to know.
So far, I've referred nine people to Direct Energy. I've told each and every person that they are the best energy company that I know of right now. TXU is the worst one. I said, “If you want an electric company that you can deal with, and that's going to take the time to do what needs to be done where your account is concerned, you want Direct Energy.” My daughters are with Direct Energy now. I turned them over. A few of my neighbors have changed over to Direct Energy too. A lot of them said they had to wait until theirs expired then they could go with the new company. I told them to go ahead and change. They are going to see the difference in the bill that they pay.

Direct Energy is cheaper than the other places I've been to. I also like the app that I can see how much I'm using. It's very user-friendly. I figured it out right away. The other providers don't have that kind of app. I had to call once to figure out how to use a part of the app and the reps at Direct Energy were helpful. Also, because I was referred, I got 50 and the person who referred me got 50 off our bill.

The other providers which I had were a little bit expensive. Direct Energy's rates were competitive and then even after the promotional event, the rates which were offered were pretty good. So I like this about Direct Energy. I did everything online and it was easy to navigate through the website.

Direct Energy helped us with the pandemic and I was able to get some assistance. But prior to COVID, I had some run-ins with Direct Energy. There was a time when I had hardship and they said they couldn't help. They should also improve on their customer service and the way we pay our bills. At this point, I'm just working with what I have. My lights are on so I can see okay. But I would prefer it if my bill was a little cheaper.

When I first signed up, Direct Energy told me because of my age, they were gonna waive the joining fee. Then, I got a letter from them telling me that I had a bill from some other electric company and I didn’t qualify for that. I asked what were they gonna do and they said I had to pay the $200. I sent them $200 and when I sent them that, they didn’t cut my electric bill on. My lights still stayed out and I was living with somebody else. I finally called and asked them how come I hadn’t received a bill. They said, “We see where you sent the $200. It’s in another account so we gotta transfer it back." They realized what they had done and straightened it up. I'm looking at my bill and there's a $191 credit.

Direct Energy had a lower rate than the other providers that my apartment complex had referred me to and everything was set up pretty easy. It didn't take that much to get approved or get a quote. As soon as you get in the website, you're able to check your account, see the balance and make the payments. It makes it easier through doing automatic payment. I have accessed the app to check the balance but it's easier on the computer than the app.

Direct Energy’s kilowatt price is more favorable than the provider I had before them. I've spoken to their customer service to make a payment arrangement a few times for my bill. They were awesome. If we ever have another winter break outage, like what we had to deal with during the month of February and all the power went out and some of us were without power for days due to the grid, I guess that could be more upgraded maybe. Also, the service fee pricing could be a little better. It’s normally like 200 something without that extra fee on there, but that extra fee makes it go up into the 300s.

I've been happy with my experience with Direct Energy. However, I have a second credit I'm supposed to get from a referral, and the first one took months and months. So, that was bad. But other than that, everything is pretty good. I also set up my mom's house with Direct Energy as well and I had an issue. I guess I had to make a deposit, but then, I had to close that and then reopen a new one because the rate changed. It was a complicated process. But other than that, it worked out in the long run.

I've spoken with Direct Energy's customer service several times. At first, I had issues that couldn't be resolved for months. I wanted to leave, but I'm not one who likes to jump from place to place. I remained with Direct Energy. The price was reasonable. The light was good. But then I moved out of where I was and they couldn't seem to move my service from where I used to stay to where I'm at presently. So, that was the problem. Right now, the service has been very good. Overall, the service was good to bad, but now it's back to great.

Direct Energy's rates were slightly lower than the one I had before. Their reps' knowledge was good and they helped me out with the quick opening of the account. Their website is good too. But the phone app is slightly tricky. Because I have three accounts with them and I can only see one account in there. I can only see one bill. But as far as the functionality and reliability of their service, I’m satisfied.

I have a difficult time understanding what some of Direct Energy's reps are saying, but as long as they're speaking English I have no complaints. Since I got their service, the bill got lower and I have not had any problems with them. I’m on oxygen 24 hours a day and if the electricity goes off, I have a priority to get electricity back on because I won’t survive. To be prioritized like that, I had to go through a doctor and he had to certify my health condition then send it to them. Then they called back and talked to us. So it’s been outstanding, the fact that they've done that so far.

As soon as I moved back to Houston, I went with Direct Energy because I knew that I could get a good deal and they’re reliable. I had a pretty good plan. I got it locked in for 36 months. I bounced around from an apartment to another apartment to a two-bedroom and now to a house. The thing that I appreciate with Direct Energy is the fact that I don't have to play these games where I have to come in under 2000 kilowatt hours or I get charged double.
What these smaller electricity companies in Houston do is they try to get you to kind of slot your usage in between 1000 and 2000 kilowatt hours. If you don't get that slot, you're charged the minimum. If you go over 2000, you get charged wo electrical bills at the same time. With Direct Energy, I haven't had to worry about that because it's straight up your usage and here's your bill. It’s pay-as-you-go. It might be more expensive that way but I'm not going to get blindsided with a double-bill at the same time. For a risk-averse person like me, Direct Energy works. They are meeting my expectations as a utility provider. With regards to customer service, they're going the right direction as far as trying to be that complete home services provider.

Direct Energy’s 12 on and 12 off is in my benefit. It would still be good if they could incentivize that 12 on, 12 off because the reality is from 9:00 at night where most people are asleep, there's not a lot of power being used. I noticed that they do have a higher rate for the daytime power consumption. So, the standard cap rate is higher than the average, free-weekend rate. So, they may be charging like 12 to 13 cents for the 12-hour rate whereas other rates are around 9 or 10 cents. They could bring that right down.

I've had a good experience so far with the Direct Energy team. A couple of months ago, someone from there reached out and said that they were looking into my account. They said that the plan that I was on wasn't really benefiting because we actually had more consumption during the day than the evening. It would be more beneficial if it was earlier, but the after 9 o'clock free electricity is what I like. I work most of the time during the day. I’m somewhere else so nobody is there a lot of the times throughout the day, but we are at night. And I run the AC all night, because I'm a big guy and I need some good air. Also, I'm in Texas so I got to have the air flowing around here. I've been stuck with Direct Energy because I may have been cheaper on kilowatts at the time. If they would give me a free months’ worth of electricity, that would be great.
Cheap energy, good service. Every time I've talked to somebody, sometimes depending on who answered the phone, I could understand them, but sometimes i couldn't, depending on what kind of accent they have. Other than that, they've always been helpful. One time I called and asked for an extension, if I was going through a tough time, and they’ve done that good. There's a limit on how many times you can have it extended. Maybe extend that limit out a more than one or two times. In six months, that might be helpful to some people.

Direct Energy had the best price even when I had a door-to-door salesman try to take me over to Reliant. I called Direct Energy directly with him in front of me and they underbid the salesman. Also, they provide better service than other providers I've had. When I have issues, they take care of them pretty quickly.

Direct Energy placed a $300 charge on my last bill for termination which I never agreed to when I signed up with them. They have no proof of voice or written authorization or acknowledgment that I agreed to pay them $300 if I cancelled. They illegally sold fake debt to a collector who put it on my credit reports. I was told by direct energy they would correct this and that they do not have any proof I agreed to any terms that state a $300 charge would occur. If you have any issue with this company file a complaint with Public Utility Commission, Attorney General's office, BBB, all review sites online. I will also file a lawsuit and remand a jury if need be in small claims if not fixed.

My eyesight is not that great and I don't see a lot of things on there. That's why I usually just call Direct Energy. When I had the other energy company, I could call them and they could put I'm paying with an electronic check. And then, it would go through that and they would get it and it would go on my payment. But I tried to call and pay my Direct Energy payment on the line and it was so hard. I told the guy, he said, "I think you playing about your sight." "I wish I was playing about my sight." My right eye is giving me problems. He told me, "Well, just send it in the mail." I said, "Well, what if it doesn't get there in time?" So, I have to find some way to get my payment in there because I don't see well. My wife is on an assignment in Kansas. That's why she's not here to put it on there.
Other than that, it was $50-something for a bill. The check is for 60. Sometimes I would pay a bit more just in case you see it's over. I do that on purpose a lot. TXU bills were always $100, $200, $300, maybe $400 a month. And this is coming in. My wife is also happy with it because she said, "Well, that extra money you're spending, we can pay this, that, and the other off." It's great and she's right. It sounds like it's a great deal for me.

When I first signed up with Direct Energy, my bill was sent to the wrong address in Dallas. I live four hours from Dallas. They still sent me the bill and charged my account for it. No one was able to change it. But it was only $20 and I'm not worried about it. Other than that, Direct Energy has been very good and I like them. I probably won't change.

I've had Direct Energy for going on six years. We had moved houses and we wanted to take Direct Energy with us. There was a lot of miscommunication about when the power was going to be cut off and when the power was going to be moved over to the other house. But it wasn't a big deal and it got resolved. Their reps were willing to help me however way they could.

Direct Energy is better than TXU. Everybody has been cool to me. They have been very responsive and cordial to deal with. If you're looking for a good starting energy company, Direct Energy is not going to kill you on rates. They have some good ones.

I was in the middle of a meltdown with Texas Electricity and Direct Energy was the fastest to switch me over. They personally turned it on outside of my house. They did a great job and I have the lowest rate. However, it could have been explained a little bit better as far as when the switch date would be and what that was depending upon. I called them and they said, “We've got just switched but there's a delay. We don't know when it will actually be switched.” Two days later was when they shut off the meter at the other place. Direct Energy picked it up but it didn't show me that I had switched until a couple more days and it did date back to the original date.

I was with Liberty Power but every month, my bill was just getting higher and higher. The last bill I paid was $245. I live alone. I leave at 5:00 in the morning to work and go home in the afternoon. So I didn't understand why that was happening if no one was home throughout the whole day. They just kept telling me, "Well, that's what your meter reads." So, I got fed up with it and my son-in-law told me to switch over to Direct Energy. My bill with Direct Energy is 60 bucks. The customer service reps understand what I'm trying to say and I understand perfectly what they've explained to me on how everything works. I'm very satisfied with this company. I've already told several friends at work and they're looking into it.

I have a two-year contract with them and they were gonna go up significantly. So, I decided I was gonna switch providers. But they called me and said, “What's going on?” I said, “You guys sent me a notice that you were going up significantly.” They came back with a different offer. So, I decided not to switch. Although it was an increase, it wasn't as drastic as what they were originally asking for. I’m glad that they took the time to give me a call when they found out I was switching.

Everything is great with Direct Energy. I like the app. It explains everything. With other providers, either way you look at it, somewhere, somehow, you’ll end up some months paying way higher than what it is, even if you do the weekends for free.

A lady from Direct Energy called and told me that I would have saved more if I got rid of my free nights on weekends. But then my bill came up to actually be more because I was doing more of my power consumption on the weekends and they had to switch it back for me. It cost me more money to change it back to what I originally had but it had been fine ever since.

The only problem I have is that I am supposed to get emails and I'm not. I tried to go in and get that fixed on my computer but I haven't been able to get that accomplished. I put in my password that they gave me but it wouldn’t work. But the customer service reps have been wonderful and I haven't had any trouble with Direct Energy.

My experience with Direct Energy has been fine. So far, I've had no problems. It’s on auto-pay. However, when I called, customer service was not in America. I always get somebody that's very hard to understand and that’s annoying. I also use their app and it would never tell me what I owed to pay off my plan. I always had to do the math to figure it out. I don't mind doing that but it's annoying. Because sometimes I missed it, messed it up and it kicked me off to a deferred payment plan.

I had Direct Energy before when I lived in a different part of the state. I enjoyed my services and I wanted to continue with it. My interaction with the rep was great. I was explained what services I had clearly. There wasn't any red tape and every question I had, it was answered within an expedited time. It was very pleasant. Direct Energy has great customer service and professional customer care representatives. When the snowstorm hit a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that they were very informative, letting individuals know what the outage was stemming from and the approximate wait time that it's going to be out. For my area, it was not very long at all. They keep me informed when we need to be informed of things. That's the best experience I’ve had thus far.

As a customer I was not satisfied with my interactions with the company. They failed to offer appropriate service to ensure customer satisfaction. Talking to them was like talking to a brick wall. They seem to resolve issues and concerns that are comfortable for them. Not acknowledging the wrong to establish a solid customer and provider relationship.

Direct Energy is my first light company and I've been with them since January 28. I chose them because I saw they have great deals. I like the deal with the free nights (after 9:00 to 9:00 am). However, it says online my bill is $200 already and I don't understand why.

This is my third contract renewal and if I had a problem with Direct Energy, and I don't, it would be when I call in to talk to someone. I'm not trying to be racist, but I get foreign people answering the phone. I'm 73 years old, hard of hearing, half blind, and I cannot understand them or deal with them. It makes it very difficult to do transactions. Plus, I’ve got a couple of times that I got calls from foreign people that were supposedly representing Direct Energy. They wanted all of my information and I said, “There’s no way I’m giving you my information. If you work for Direct Energy, you got it." I think somebody is trying to get in on their line and scam them.
I just renewed with Direct Energy. In fact, I got my first bill yesterday on the new contract and I've had no problem with them. On the other hand, AEP is high on their line maintenance, and the one I'm not satisfied with. Direct Energy has lived up to everything they told me, but companies like AEP, Reliant, and all those companies that own the power line, they're getting out of hand on what they charge for maintenance. Their service ain’t that good as well.

I got a call from someone who they were from Direct Energy and all they wanted to do was to verify my address and my phone number. They may have been trying to sell me some type of other service but it struck me as kind of odd. Other than that, I have no complaints about Direct Energy's service.

When I first moved to Houston, I picked the company that seemed the most well-reviewed and had decent rates. I went with Direct Energy and they are dependable. At one point, I had some issues with billing because my debit card got canceled, then I had to go on vacation, so my billing lapsed. But they were able to correct it and they didn't fine me. They said they understood that I was out of town and I couldn't do anything about it.

My experience with Direct Energy has been good. I used to have prepaid light before I had a baby. This is the first light company that goes from month-to-month. I also have free weekends, so that's a plus. ‘Cause my daughter just uses and turns on every light in the house. Their prices are very reasonable too. Last night, the power kept going off and on for no apparent reason. I was unable to get ahold of Direct Energy or CenterPoint. It would be nice to be able to have a phone number that we could get ahold of them in the middle of the night, 'cause some people in this house have sleep apnea machines.

Direct Energy's rates are too high. I keep paying 149 a month for a single dwelling, which is too much, and if you don't pay that whole 149, they cut you off. They don't give you no extension and they don't work with you. When I spoke to them, they said there was nothing they could do about it and just cut it up. So they’re not particularly helpful.

A friend of mine works with Direct Energy and he gave me a referral code. I've used a bunch of companies and Direct Energy has the best website and the most intuitive setup. They're easy to work with because it was all done over a chat, through the website. It was also quick and there was no waiting. But cost-wise, they're not the cheapest, so it's a bit of a compromise. They should work on the price to make things even better. But other than that, they're a good retail provider.

I've used a lot of providers. I used Ambit, Tara Energy and then I’m now using Direct Energy. I’m not happy because they lied to me. Somebody called me from customer care a few months ago. They wanted to transfer me to Direct Energy and the rep asked me some questions. I told him I consume 1,600 to 1,700 every month. I asked how much it was gonna cost me. He said, “115 every month.” My first bill came out and it's $450. I don't understand why.

I've been a Direct Energy customer for seven years and then the account was switched into my ex's name. I just now switched it back over into mine. I have had not one complaint at all. Setting up my account again was really difficult, but it wasn't because of them. It was because I was trying to get service at a place that was in my ex's name and trying to get it switched over. There was a lot of confusion. From what I understand, it was transferred over to the actual apartment complexes. One day, after a couple of months of me trying to get it set up, the manager said that I needed to get the energy switched back to my name, and that they would add to my bill what had been billed to them on my behalf, which was unknown to me. We finally got things straightened out.

I was looking for something cheaper, but if it wasn’t for the free nights, Direct Energy is the most expensive one I've had. I’ll stop them because I look at the bill each time, and I say, “Whoa. Boy, if it wasn’t for nighttime deal, this would be one I know I wouldn’t be able to keep up with.”

I've had Direct Energy for five years. Customer service is good. They answer the phone when you call and you’re not on hold forever. Direct Energy was good on renewal plans. I waited out for a while and finally decided on one.

We had TXU when we first moved in then we changed to Direct Energy due to the prices. So far, I've had a good history with them and I've had other providers come to me since I've had Direct Energy, trying to get me to change over, and they just could not beat the price or they couldn't match it. I've been happy with Direct Energy and with them, my bills have been great. I had some very high bills several years ago and when I called them, they said they would look at what plan we had versus what they could do for us. So, it was at a point where the plan that I had had expired and they walked me through the process. They were very patient and they found me a good rate.
Another thing is that during the ice storm that we had where we had the power outages, the very next week, I received an email from Direct Energy letting me know that I didn't have to worry about my bill. They said that my rate wasn't going to jump up and that really gave me a lot of satisfaction. It made me feel good about it because people were talking about the very high bills that they had been receiving. But we didn't and things went as smooth as butter. I also appreciated the fact that Direct Energy contacted me and I didn't have to contact them.

Someone from Direct Energy had called me and was talking to me about switching over. They had taken all my information and they said that on this certain day, they would call me back to make sure that it was what I wanted to do. I said okay. So on that certain day, I was waiting for them to call and ask me if I wanted to switch over. But I just got a text message saying, "Welcome to Direct Energy." So they didn't call to ask, they just switched me over. But it was okay 'cause I was gonna have to either renew or switch to a different provider anyway. Overall, it has been good. The first bill was prorated to $8. So I'm just waiting on the second bill now.

Direct Energy has been good, so far. I did a fixed deal with them for 18 months. I set it up on auto-pay so I don't talk to anybody. Their website was simple and easy to use. I'd tell my friends to sign up with them if the rate was right.

Their reps were all humble and honest. My experience was good but I found out that it was too pricey. My bill for this month came around 267. This is the first time I've got so much bill for a two-bedroom apartment. I've been with Direct Energy for over eight years altogether and the service is great. The customer service is good and the rates are not bad. I get weekends free. I chose that plan because we have the setup where we do most of our chores on weekends. So it saves us through the week from running the bill up, so that keeps the bill down low. Direct Energy is okay. However, the rep said I was only supposed to get charged 11.6 cents per kilowatt hour but it's 13.7 in the bill. I need it reduced down to 11.6.

I went with Direct Energy's Bright Choice plan since there was no contract. Their site has been very easy to navigate. When they sent the bill online, all they do is say Direct Energy usage. I don't know if that's a bill or not. So, I don't click it thinking it's an advertisement. Now, when I'm supposed to do the bill, they said I'm late because I didn't notice it. Direct Energy needs to make sure that the message actually says "Your energy bill" because it always goes to spam.

Got a robocall today claiming to be Oncor and telling me to dial one to lower my rate. I talked to a guy who told me to look at my bill. I am paying .04 per kWh and my average cost is 10.7 cents. He insisted that I should add those two numbers together to get my total rate. When I called him on he finally agreed that the average included the .04 plus the Oncor charge. He then told me I could get .077 all in with the Oncor charge included for 3 years as long as I paid my bill for the last 6 months on time. Then I asked him who was providing the different rate. I didn’t want to change companies because I have a contract. He replied that the new rate was with Direct Energy but that HE NEVER SAID I would have to change companies. I told him I needed to understand how Oncor would be calling me to sell me service with Direct Energy and how I could get Direct Energy rates and not change my company.
He started out on a big explanation about how in Texas I had 3 companies to choose from. I told him on ** that I had a lot more than 3. Then he started talking over me. I hung up and called the number back. I tried to make a complaint but the guy in New Accounts sent me to customer service and customer service gave me a complaint number that went right back to them. They are giving me a total runaround and their telemarketers are rude and liars.

I heard that Direct Energy is a good company. I called in and hooked my light with them. However, they have not been doing a good thing on customer service. I explained to them in Spanish and they still didn't do what they were supposed to do. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna call customer service today. I set up email messages and I set up my bill sent by mail too, and they didn't mail my paperwork. But then on the light, it's pretty good and I'm happy with that. I'm always gonna stay with Direct Energy.

I went to pay the bill. We signed up a different contract. Normally, I got an email that our bill was due. I didn't get that. I tried logging on. Direct Energy created a new log-in password for me. They told me to create a new one. I tried doing it, but it won't do it. I want a text message from them and it won't let me do it saying it's not available. I was going to call today. We needed to change the phone number. I tried doing that and it won't allow me also. They need to improve on those. Nonetheless, it was easier for me to renew with Direct Energy. I just might not do it again. It depends on what I'm offered at another energy company. I talked to our neighbors and friends, and we compared what we use and what the bills are. Direct Energy is just a little bit higher than them.

An individual who came directly to my house presented a very good offer. It was better than the pricing on our current energy plan so I went with them. So far, I've appreciated the customer service side of things and the incentives have been very good. Direct Energy is more customer-friendly than my previous provider. I receive notices before my bill is due and it is lower too. I mostly deal with the IVR and it's very easy to deal with. Direct Energy was less expensive, so I went with them. If they can make my bill even lower, that would be better.

The ones I've used in the past were okay, but I like Direct Energy. It's been so many years since I've been with them. I had a couple of calls to renew and the reps are very good. They answered all my questions.

I was with Reliant for a very long time. Their rates kept going up. Direct Energy does not really raise their rates since I started with them. Their usage is lower and the wattage is higher. One time, I had to get with Direct Energy when I had a dispute, and it was quite difficult. But luckily, it was only one time so hopefully, it doesn't happen again. But it was really difficult because I didn't know where their customer service was located at. I was hard to hear. It was like long distance. Then it was hard to get somebody to understand our situation which was a banking error. When we asked to speak to somebody that could help us like a supervisor or a manager, they kept telling us there wasn't one available. I had to get the bank to call directly to get the dispute settled. Other than that, Direct Energy's services are great. It's affecting my lifestyle in a good way because I don't have to pay a higher rate.

My plan ended with the previous energy company my wife and I were with. Our normal energy consumption was 300, 400 bucks then all of a sudden, my bill was like $700 and they didn't tell us. When I called them, they said, "It's your responsibility to know when your plan expires." I said, "It'll be my responsibility to go find somebody else," that's why I switched over to Direct Energy. I got no worries with them.

I've been with Direct Energy for over 10 years. I've stayed with them because they offer me a very competitive rate. I'm very happy with the rate that I get per kilowatt-hour. Their customer service is excellent. I'm very happy with the quality of the service, too.

I've had Direct Energy on and off over the years. They have always been good for me. I recently bought a house. So I came back to them and just got my first bill. It's one of the lowest I've ever received. Initially, my interactions with the customer service went very well. But I had a hard time this time because somewhere, someone dropped the ball. I was supposed to have permits for my house. All that stuff was turned in but they didn't see it. So it was a big deal between Direct Energy and Oncor, and it lasted about a week and a half. So we were fined for that. But other than that, they have been great.

Marco was excellent at supporting my closing account request. He gave me the right information, offered solutions and was timely with his updates on the process. He was also very friendly throughout the chat process. Unrelated to my experience with Marco, I felt as though Direct Energy could have done a better job clearly outlining the term of the contract and price changes. Marco informed me that the pricing was contracted with was promotional for only March 5 to November 5 2020. I do not see this listed in the contract.

I've had Direct Energy for 10 years. Recently, I just found out that I can renew online, which is a lot easier. It makes it less likely for me to miss when one of my contracts expires and then pay exorbitant fees, in the meantime, while I’m figuring out that the contracts expired. They should either have the contracts be self-renewing without the customer having to do anything or they should contact the customer a month or two months before the contract is about to expire to warn them. That will make it a lot easier for the customers.

I like Direct Energy's low rates. I'm disabled and if I am not able to go in person and make a payment, I could just call the number on the bill and I could pay the bill like that. So, it's easy like that. Direct Energy is a good service. I'm satisfied with the service.

I renewed with them. It was an 18-month renewal that the lady did and she told me it was supposed to go into effect immediately but it never did. But she was wonderful and was really sweet.

I like that Direct Energy is the cheapest and they didn't require a big deposit. Their service was very fast and efficient online to where I didn't have to be on hold because I don't like being on hold. Everybody needs to switch to Direct Energy.

So far, Direct Energy is a lot better than Ambit because my bill is a lot cheaper. I'm waiting for the real bill when it comes summertime. My experience has been fine.

I'm accustomed to doing energy calculations and I don't like the way the energy companies treat us. They make it difficult to compare. I was not aware that it was such a loose market. They don't have to give us objective information, at least not easily understood, and what's out in the market. With Direct Energy, some of the accents were a little tough and some of the terms were not understood by me.

I went through a website and compared a bunch of companies. Direct Energy had a plan that met our needs and I signed up with them. Signing up wasn't that difficult. But they made a mistake on my name. Getting them to change my name was slightly difficult. Their customer service was sometimes difficult to get ahold of for account purposes. The online stuff wasn't real user-friendly, at least on that side. The online stuff works great for monitoring your electric, and bills, and bill-pay. But the account management stuff is a little difficult.

They were cheaper than what I was doing before. The first time I renewed with them, I found that they were trying to kind of get the better of me compared to the market. So I went out on the market and got a better price, and then came back to them and they matched it. The second time I renewed, I didn't have the energy to even do that. But it sounded like they were going pretty low the second time, so I just went with it.
