    When initially when I started with Direct Energy, I thought, "Well let me try it and see how my bill looks." The other companies that I called didn't give me any explanations. When I asked them questions, they were like, "It's in the letter." And I was like, "I don't know how to read my bill so that's not helping me." Direct Energy explained better and were a little more user-friendly. I did try it for six months and I saw that I was saving. Also, I haven't had any blackouts. I called their team about my budget and they were very user-friendly as well. I like to know how much I have to pay every month instead of trying to guesstimate. Everybody's been professional, very nice and helpful. I work in customer service for 38 years and you don't tell somebody that's a stupid question if they call. They have always been very nice and I got the quality of customer service that I like to give. It's been great.

    Direct Energy has a cheaper rate than what I was paying. However, it would be nice if the actual bill would state when the contract would expire. Because one time, my contract ran out and I didn’t know. They told me they've sent me a letter but I get so much junk mail and I only pay attention to my electric bill. But overall, it has been a good experience with them.

    I like Direct Energy. They give me good rates. I get really low bill from them. I've been with them for a number of years now and they keep offering me better and better rates every year. I usually only have to talk to their rep once a year to renew my contract and locking in a new rate. I actually recommended them to some family members and friends. Consumers Energy is our local supplier here and I told them that if they pay attention to their bill in the wintertime, they have a variable rate and it goes up when the consumer uses a lot. I'm locked in with my gas prices year-round. I might not be saving much in the summertime when their rates are lower. But we use a lot more gas in the winter than I do in the summer so that really is affecting my cost.

    I'm having a lot of problems with my gas bill with Direct Energy. It showed I used about 588% increase from my bill from the previous August and my gas usage is about five times from what it was in the coldest month of February. I've been dealing with this since and I still haven't got the correct gas bill yet. I got a phone call the other day and the rep said a meter reader is coming out in the area. But there was something definitely going on because my gas bill has been $200 for August and my highest bill last year in the winter month was $150. I can't wait to see my next bill and see what that one says. Hopefully, I'll get it straightened out.

    I've contacted the Direct Energy reps every month. They say they got a claim open on my account. But they said they're looking into it and will have someone back out here. I talked to a representative and he said, “The money you paid, you're probably covered for a couple of months because your usage is low in August and September." Here it is December, my gas bill was $780 retro, compiling up. He said, “Don’t worry about that. Don't pay anything," and I said, “I don't want to get a shut-off notice." If my issues don't get resolved this time, I'm going to call the gas company and tell them I got a gas leak somewhere then that'll get someone's attention. They said it may be a faulty meter and then I heard they were going to be changing some of our meters out in our area. I still have my old meter and I've been watching that. Other than this gas thing, it's been fine.

    I have Direct Energy's electrical service. And I took them because they were offering 9.9 on their Kilowatt, and I locked it in. I get a flicker often but other than that, I haven't had any blackout. The service is fine. And the team at Direct Energy has been very good. They answered my questions and they've been very courteous. I had recently called them because the young lady I had spoken to told me to call in in December and said there might be a chance that the rates have changed. But what I didn't know was that the rates had gone up slightly already and I was advised to call in the spring or in the early fall to see if there was a chance that the rates were going to change.

    I like the way I can keep calling Direct Energy at any time. It's like gambling with the stock market. If I get to call at a certain time and if the rate is good, I take it. I can also call and get the rates down at any time. They also gave me some type of a reward three times. I like the rates and when I like something, I don't like switching. My bills aren't as high as they were. The rates make a big difference and I'm down to a good one. I got a lower rate than what I did the last 12 months and this one should take place this January. I will be calling Direct Energy to see about that.

    The representatives are very courteous too and they help me. They call me back and they tell me when I could call to check as far as the rates like if it's the one that I picked at that time and if it's going to be lower than the one that I have. If I don't like the rate, I'd call back in a month. I'm comfortable with them. Other people have called but I told them, "I'm with Direct Energy and I prefer that. So no, thank you." I'm so used to them that it's like clockwork. And when somehow someone cut me off of Direct Energy and I found out that I was put in some other one, I told them I have Direct Energy and that I've been in it for years.

    For the last three years, I have all of my different rates where I look at them and see how it went out throughout the years. Right now I've got from October 2017 when I called them all the way up until January. I have a stack of them behind my computer for the last two years so I keep up with them. My money is programmed. I tried to recommend to other people to Direct Energy and I’m going to suggest it to my daughter one time. She's moving into a new apartment.

But I didn't like that they changed my price without really telling me that they were going to do it. And I had to pay a high bill for two months. I had to get a change so that I got the lower price.     Somebody from Direct Energy came to the house and explained their service to me, and I showed her the bills which changed every week and every month. During winter I’m paying more money than I am in the summer months, and she said I could get them for a flat rate. Now I have a lower rate and I just renewed their service this year. The last time somebody came out here was to check if my fireplace was leaking gas, but the rep said there wasn’t anything wrong with it. She was very nice. I haven’t had any problem with them at all and so far, they’ve been great. As long as it stays a flat rate for a year or two, I might not change at all. The one time that the rate went up a dollar, that was a lot of money. But when they called this year, the thing went down a dollar or $.075, so it’s okay.

    What I don't like about Direct Energy is that they don't come and read the meter every month. They told me that it's because they don't have the manpower for that. So they come one month and they estimate the bill the next month. But you have the privilege of going outside and reading your own meter and whatever number you come up with, you can submit that to them and they make the adjustments on it. However, it was a pain in the neck since the numbers are tiny and it's hard to read. I did it one time and I ended up putting more than what I was using. They adjusted it but it was still $100 more. So they went over how to read it and readjusted it again.

    I wanted to have a lower rate so I asked them for a fixed rate, at least for the electricity. I was able to lock in a rate for the electricity for 18 months. I was also trying to figure out how to get a fixed rate on the gas, but I was going to end up paying more than paying month to month, so I left it alone. They charge me $100 a month, sometimes $25 less, and $50 of that comes from their delivery fee and taxes.

    I was with Direct Energy and then I was without them. I’ve been jumping around because I can’t find anything that’s any better than the other. That’s the same thing with the other utilities. I'm satisfied where I am and I'm not going to make any changes right now because we’re not really saving anything on energy. Everybody’s just at the mercy of the utility companies. Direct Energy raises their prices at their convenience. With all the resources that they’ve come up with and yet the average person isn’t saving any money. I wouldn’t recommend Direct Energy.

    Direct Energy's service is good but they try to keep raising the rate all the time. I always look for a better rate but they still keep raising me. I speak to their reps when I call them about what my rates are going to be for the next year. Once in a while, I would get an operator that can hardly speak English. The reps treated me well but I couldn’t understand them. I suggest having a lower rate for senior citizens because we are all on a very limited budget. We didn’t make the money that everybody’s making nowadays and a lot of us don’t even have pensions, so that hurts a bit. If Direct Energy can do anything about it, that would help and I would appreciate that.

Their reps were as well as possible, too, but it's hard to get a cost figure from them because their rates change from summer to winter. If my friends ask me about Direct Energy, I'd tell tell them to look at all the competitions' prices and go from there because I've had no problems. It's all built right through consumers.

    We use Direct Energy for electricity and for gas and they represent us as far as giving us the best deal in electricity. We had a different provider in the past, but we got a better rate from Direct Energy, and they’ve been very friendly and helpful. I have a contract with them until next year, and when I redo it, I’d get new rates, and I've got the confirmation letter as far as that goes. Maybe they could have better deals or cheaper rates, but I’m very satisfied with Direct Energy.

    My experience with Direct Energy was awesome and perfect. They gave me a good deal and it’s great for me right now. My bill went down very good and I haven't got any problems.     I would recommend Direct Energy. I used a different provider in the past and Direct Energy is a few cents less. We got a nesting thermostat but we haven’t started yet because we haven’t figured out how to do it from the video. We just turn our thermostat down when we leave home. But we’ve seen we’re getting pretty good service and response when we call them. When they turned off the gas because they thought the house was abandoned, they came back three hours later and turned it back on. So, that was a good experience. Maybe they can find another provider that’s even less than who we’re dealing with now.

    I had a bad experience with my previous provider. I was talking to the people and they gave me a price for so many months. I believed them and renewed with them but halfway through, they raised the prices. One month together was double my bill and I got mad. Then I found Direct Energy. I like them right now because I'm getting good rates and they're competitive. They could continue to do what they're doing and it's up to me to make sure I'm getting the best deal out there. There may be some place that's a bit lower in price but doesn't offer the same type of months to guarantee and if so, I'd rather have stability than fluctuation. The electric companies are certainly getting their money especially during heating season so it worked out for me to check out the rates. I'd recommend Direct Energy.

    I was having a problem with my bill at the time. When I set up the service with Direct Energy, the rep who came was very informed with the way he explained everything and I understood what he was saying. I got impressed by that.     I've been using Direct Energy as my gas supplier for six years and I am very pleased with them. They're always very friendly, courteous and polite when I call them. Plus, they always look for the best price that they can give me. Their rates are much better than my previous provider, Consumers Energy. I'm just disappointed that they're not going to be affiliated with Plenti Points anymore. But I will continue to stay with Direct Energy as long as I get the good rates.

The price went up which surprised me but that's the way it's going to be. I am serviced by National Grid and Direct Energy provides the electricity.     I signed up with Direct Energy, got an email and a text verifying that I was a customer, was invited to set the app so I could pay from my phone and monitor my bill. I paid an initial small partial payment. The next month I kept checking for a balance. I finally get a bill from my previous company with late charges and cut off notice. I call Direct Energy and tell them and they say "We will call and straighten this out with your old provider. Just check in next week for your new bill from us -don't pay them". After checking for a week and getting nervous I call and Direct Energy says, "Oh we weren't able to straighten all that out. You have to re-apply". NO I DON'T... I am not doing all that over again. If Direct Energy can't even acquire a customer properly how are they gonna handle my account??? I'm done.

    TIP: Call a customer when there is an update to a problem.

    Direct Energy 's gal, who came knocking on my door, told me I had to choose a power supplier. She said that I had less than a week to make a decision. I based that decision on their rate at the time, which was 7.-something cents per kilowatt hour, where Ameron was 9.-something. After some months went by, I found out that Ameron had lowered their rate to 4.-something cents per kilowatt hour, while I was still paying 7-something. I called Direct Energy and told the guy who answered the phone that this wasn't right. He told me that I can bail out anytime or they'll give me that current rate. He also told me that if the rate changes, I should let them know and they'll give me the same rate.

    My bills have been higher all summer and my last bill was $181. My bills don't run that high in the dead of summer even with the air conditioning running constantly. I called Ameron and the gal looked up all of my payments for a long period of time. I'm using less power now than before. I've changed most of my lights over to LED. Plus, I no longer have the 65 aquariums, each with lights and an air pump that runs 24/7, in my basement. I had one bill up close to $300. They don't understand why. However, a year ago, they changed our meters to digital ones and the bill seemed like it stayed the same. I didn't have any high bills then and nothing raised any red flags. Then, just about a week ago, I got a letter that says they're going to be in our area changing meters, but they didn't change mine.

    I like Direct Energy’s pricing. It seems like theirs was lower than all the others. However, there was an issue that for some reason, the cost of the gas was changed to $9 which was really high. I didn’t understand why and when I called them, they didn’t have my information or the approval that I wanted it or lowered it. They sent me a $50 gift card for the trouble and then they changed it back and moved it to $3.99. It was supposed to be going to $3.89 and I’m hoping that it’s going to be on my next bill. Nevertheless, the bills are a lot lower so that has really helped. I would tell my friends that they should look into Direct Energy because they could save some money as their price for gas is very cheap compared to Consumers Power Inc. I’m happy with Direct Energy and I highly recommend them.

    I used to be with Direct Energy and then I switched to another provider. When I left them, they called back and tried to ask me why I switched. They tried to get me to switch back and they were a little bit too pushy. They said that I would get a gift certificate if I go back but I haven’t seen that gift certificate and I haven’t bothered to call them back.

    Then I switched back to Direct Energy because of the price. However, there was not so much of a difference with the bill. When they have the promotions, it turned out to be the same. They're more expensive than my previous provider. When I asked the guy I signed up with whether the price that they quoted me included the CenterPoint plus the Direct Energy, he said the price is just Direct Energy then I got charged on top of it with the CenterPoint. And they say it's combined but it's not. So, after the contract, I'd probably switch to another company. Overall, Direct Energy is very standard. You sign up and you just pay your monthly bill.

    I used to pay $100 or so and National Grid recommended Direct Energy. They're a lot better and my bill ranges from $60 to $80.     I like Direct Energy. Every year I search around for the cheapest electric supplier, and there’s two that’s always at the top. Direct Energy is one of those two. I signed up for the fixed rate. I have two electric meters in my house. When I originally signed up, they only listed one electric meter. After I got my bill, I realized that. I called them back and they corrected the situation. However, it took one month to kick in since it took a month in order to go through the one who transmits the electricity. But once that happened, everything was fine. It has saved me a lot of money and as long as they continue to come out with low electricity rates, I’ll keep signing up. I’ve recommended them to a couple of friends.

They're like a supplier and they were very helpful. That's what you need when you're looking for service. So I would absolutely recommend them.     I live in a very small house and Consumers had me on a budget plan of $221 a month. I got fed up and I then went with Direct Energy. I've had good service with them at a decent price but their initial cost, which was $11, was higher than Consumers', which was $7. I talked to somebody at Direct Energy about how I can get my bill down and they've been very helpful and willing to work with me. They told me what they charge and what's going on and that they have a lower program that they can put me in which will be better than what I had.     Direct Energy will lure you with promises of "low variable rates" and say they forecast the rates to stay low for the next couple years and then lock you into a contract. Once they have you, they jack their rates to almost DOUBLE THE PRICE National Grid charges and then when you call them they say: "Wow... I can't believe how low National Grid is charging... Makes no sense!" Really!? What a pathetic excuse... I shouldn't have left my wife in charge of utilities, she got fooled and roped in by Direct Energy. That would not have happened to me! I know better... Especially now. PLEASE! Don't let these people steal your money like they did to my wife and I. STAY AWAY!!!

    Keystone came by but Direct Energy was cheaper. Everybody said that prepaid is more expensive but I think Direct Energy is okay. With prepaid if you cook a lot you might go over and your line would cut out which would be embarrassing. I heard one lady one night complain because she couldn't afford the electricity every week. Some people right now probably have no lights as long as they are dealing with that prepaid. I moved to a one-bedroom apartment and I don't work anymore and I get disability. I could not pay my bill last time, and I explained that to Direct Energy and I signed that payment plan. Hopefully things will be looking better by January because that's the last month of the payoff.

    Direct Energy is my electric supplier. I have two accounts with them and both had fixed rates and they expired. They did not contact me when the year expired and these are not the things I keep track of. But when I reached them over the week, I settled on a new rate for the new year. I renewed it but it was about a week where there was an interim time when I was at a variable rate. It said that the variable rate could go anywhere and between July 6th and 10th.The only thing is the fixed rate that I have this year went up than it was the year before. Not absurdly more but somewhat more. They would put the new rate within the week but it would not show up for another month.

    Then Scott who was very nice spoke to me and gave me a $50 credit. He was positively fine and knowledgeable. It was good that he was not reading from a script because normally that happens. Direct Energy’s service is fine. They just have to let the customer know by a letter or call when the fixed rate is about to expire or collect other suppliers as there are other choices out there.

I called Direct Energy but they didn't explain what it is that they're doing exactly. I don't understand why one company can't handle all of the services like it was before. All I know is that I'm paying the bill and Direct Energy gets some of that money money. But so far, I’m pleased with the electric service I have from them.

    When we bought our first home, we looked into the different providers and found that Direct Energy's rates were comparable and we want to know about the technicalities before we decided to use them again. Direct Energy has tools that let you monitor what you're doing. They send out through emails to tell you how much you saved, you’ve used, what you're doing compared with other homes of that size, and what they’ve taken on per footage. Whenever we've had just moved places, they’ve always been able to accommodate us and they even call and make sure that everything is set up on our account, so we don’t have any lapse in our coverage or discounts that we're receiving. That’s something that Direct Energy should definitely keep doing. The customer service has always been good and they’ve been really knowledgeable.

    The last rep that I talked to, he even took the time to do a comparison between two different rate plans for us to make sure we were getting the best deal. It was time out of his day he could have been spending time getting new customers, but he made the time to make sure we were getting the best deal and made us feel like we were #1 at least for that 15-20 minutes to do it on the phone. I didn’t have to go sit down and research it myself and go through all the technical jargon and make sure that I was getting the best rate plan based on our usage. It was really nice for them to keep doing that. Since we moved, we're having a much better bill.

    About five years ago, I checked all the energy companies online. I wanted to get a fixed price for the longest period of time and at that time, Direct Energy gave me three years, which was great. We did transacted over the phone and then they sent all their alternatives and what they offered. They said that they would notify me when it was going to expire which was good service and good to know. When my contract ran out, I got on the internet again but then, they did not have the lowest price so I was going to go with another company. However, I was not satisfied with the way the other company treated me during the two days period. Also, they did not send me any information at all like Direct Energy did. I would have stayed with that other company but when I told Direct Energy about their competitor's price, they bought their price down as well. They accommodated me that way and they gave me a longer extension.

    However, this last time when my contract ran out, they only offered me six months. And then, with the hurricanes and all kinds of other things, they are taking a chance on whatever price they give you at that point. However, they're very cooperative, very helpful and they did whatever they told me they would do. Also, it helped me to know what the price is going to be every month as it came through as you can budget a lot easier that way. They aren't trying to rip you off like some other companies do. Although, I'd like to see them have a longer period of set prices but that is hard for any company to do. Still, I'm happy with their service and I would recommend them.

    I got a thing in the mail because I'm an NRA member and we got a group discount through the NRA. I saw Direct Energy's price so I compared it with Con Edison which was my chosen supplier at that time. And they beat them by a couple of cents at kilowatt hours so I switched. But Direct Energy raised the rates recently. This is about our third year with Direct Energy and it would helpful to me when they do a rate adjustment and that they compare rates from the other providers and show that that's a good deal because all they do is force me to do the research. Quite frankly if the research doesn’t pan out for them and then I'll switch because to me this is strictly a commodity item. I don't see them and I don't deal with them so this is strictly a commodity decision and the cheapest price wins every time. There's no reason to do it any other way.

    I bought a house at the end of August. I went in and called Direct Energy and set up all the transfer service, move out date, when to start and end the service. In September, I received the bill for my new residents at my house and then two days later, I received a bill for my former residents but when I went to look at the dates, all the dates overlap each other. One was August the 16th to September 19th and then one was from August 24th to September 20th. So, I called and told them that something wasn't right here. It winds up going round and round, back and forth. Finally, my wife got on the phone with them and she was very distraught. A few days after that, the President of the company, as they claimed, called and said that they would zero out the balance and not to worry about it since they got it all taken care of. They blamed it on a glitch in their computer system.

    Then, for October, we got a bill in the mail for some amount of dollars and then again, two days later we got a bill in the mail for three times that amount. Again, I looked at it and both bills were still for the former residents, the billing cycle for October. We still haven't received the bill for our current residents, but we got two bills, one of them due on the 15th, the other one due on the 17th for the former residents. I called them back and come to find out that they still have yet to discontinue the service or take the service out of our name, the former resident of our former house. We've been dealing back and forth again.

    My wife has been dealing with it more and all this happened on Monday. Someone was supposed to call her back on Wednesday. They said it would be 24 to 48 hours and here we are Thursday, and still, have heard nothing from them. I'm to the point that I'm done. I would take the hit on my credit and tell them to go jump on a river and get my electric service somewhere else. This is becoming very shady as they're still billing us for a place that we haven't lived in and saying that we lived there for a certain time. And then, there's another bill showing that we lived at a new place from the coinciding time. Something is sketchy.

    Ever since we moved, it's been a lie after the other. The only issue we have is our personal preference, that we don't like changing companies. But we're getting to that point where that's going to be a better solution or it's safer for us to go ahead and find someone else. We could do it that way, be done with it and wash our hands off of them completely. I would not recommend them to someone. I'm at that point where I would go on social media and let everybody know about this experience so that everybody would be cautious with these people. The other thing is that they've put my name in wrong but I've gone and asked them to correct it on their computer system.

    After signing up, before reading reviews, I called to cancel my accounts, within the 7 day period to avoid $99 cancellation fees for each account. When I called in October, I was assured I canceled in time, which was 3 days after I had signed up. Today, towards the end of November I receive a $99 fee for the electricity account. I had to call and have them waive the fee, which they ended up doing. I was told I had a pending cancellation, in which they later corrected since I CANCELLED BOTH ACCOUNTS in October. I was told to call back if I'm charged for cancelling the gas account. If you call to cancel or have any issues billing wise make sure you document everything, they will try to charge you, when they have no right to.

    Eight years ago, I was with a solar provider that went too high. Their last two contracts went for two years each, and at that time, I had set my price the lowest it could be.     In July 2016 my renter moved out and I needed service there to do cleaning and fix ups. I told Direct Energy multiple times to BE SURE and not turn off MY HOME address which I gave them. That's exactly what they DID. With company coming and heat over 100, my electricity suddenly went off that hot, hot afternoon. Despite three hours on the phone, neither Direct Energy or Oncor would turn it back on immediately. It was off for many hours and I was not notified when it was back on for an hour after it was back. My freezer was off, food spoiled, I had to get a motel room for the company, delay the contractors who were to come to do fix ups at the rental home, and then spend hours reporting to the company all this. They did reimburse me some of the expenses but not all. It was just HORRENDOUS - NEVER AGAIN DIRECT ENERGY - AWFUL SERVICE!!! Don't put two addresses on the same account number - duh!!!

    Direct Energy sent me a paper in the mail then I had a call from their rep to discuss rates, which was positive because they had a starting rate. At first, I told them that I didn't want anything to do with it. But they worked with me the most and since they've realized that I did my research and checked into it, they lowered my rate until I was comfortable with it. I got the lowest possible rate than anybody else. Now, the only difference though since they have taken over is that my bill is $15 to $20 more but that is part of the negotiation. That has been a good experience in case the market fluctuates.

    I’ve had Direct Energy for a couple of years now and it’s been entirely satisfactory. I had to call them three months ago when I noticed that my Direct Energy charge was twice as much as I had it before. I called and spoke with one of their representatives and he said that I had gone to a different rate and it was by default. He explained that part of the monthly cycle that I was on had already passed by so I would still pay the high rate for part of the month and then the newer rate would kick in. I did not respond to their query at the end of my first year’s contract and had assumed that it would continue with the same thing but apparently, I had to make a choice so they put in a very expensive category. The gentleman was understanding and he immediately changed it and put it back to where it was.

    I like that when I pay my Direct Energy bill, I get points on my Plenti card. Plenti said that if I get Direct Energy, I will get 5,000 points which was $50 for getting Direct Energy.     I’m very happy with my experience with Direct Energy. I’ve been with them for quite a long time now and they’ve given me good deals. Everybody’s been helpful and everything went well too. For the most part, I have no gripes except for one. A person from this company told me that the plan a month was supposed to be 9.7 cents and free weekend. But when I looked at the bill, it said 10.7 cents for the first 500 kilowatt hours and then it went down to 9.7 cents after that. If that’s the case, then that’s not very truthful and I don’t like being lied to. Also, the price is a big deal for me these days because I’ve been living on fixed income and I needed the best deal possible. I didn't think I missed something because I listened carefully since it’s a deal that would affect my situation monetarily and I’m careful with my dealings. If it was a miscommunication, the rep should be more careful and should lay out the plan more directly. He didn’t have all the facts.

    Also, whenever I pay my bills, it’s a bit of pain because I’d rather talk to people than to a computer. But that’s just me because I’m kind of old school and old-fashioned. Nevertheless, I plan on sticking with Direct Energy. They are doing a good job, their prices are fair, and it’s a fairly easy process with them. I’ve been with TXU Energy for a brief time, but their prices and deals were terrible. I would take Direct Energy over TXU any day. Overal, I’m very happy with the experience.

    We used to have North American Power but Direct Energy came up with better rates and they were competitive. That’s how we originally found out about them. Then we renewed with Direct Energy despite the fact that Northern Energy offered a $100 Visa card. Their rates are higher though and they committed us to a year or two years' agreement. But Direct Energy compromised and gave us a $25 Visa card. We also got the Plenti points which for my wife is a big check mark in their favor. We could cancel at any time, too. We know there are others out there but so far, we’re happy with Direct Energy. We’d recommend them to other people.

    The people that I spoke with at Direct Energy were knowledgeable, but if I knew about all these fees, I might have looked for somebody else. Every truck that came in this yard said Direct Energy on it. Every person that went on the roof said Direct Energy on their shirts. But when I called Direct Energy, they said they don't put panels on roofs. They've got a place up in Hopkinton and they told me that they put panels. Now they're telling me that they never install panels, so they're lying to me.

    It took them forever to finish. I got a front porch and it's got two four by sixes underneath and four by sixes back to back up on the roof above it. They wanted to paint the roof and the whole town. They went on and on. I wasn't thrilled with them, and they kept dragging their feet. It was months and months before they put the panels up there. It was a contract and you make the contract to go get it done. But I suspect they took and did other jobs before doing mine.

    They did a good job when they went up on the roof, but they did a lot of things that they never discussed with me. I didn't realize that they were gonna sell my plan off to somebody else. I wouldn't have gone with them if I knew. Maybe the paperwork said that, but I didn't read all the paperwork. But in my mind, they're running roughshod over the public. I get part of the bill from National Grid and then I get the other part of the bill from this other company, One Roof. I called five times and cannot get a direct answer out of anybody about why they sold and why I'm getting billed for certain things. They say that they'll have one of the experts call me, but I never heard a word. That was six weeks ago. They are scammers, and they don't seem to have any regard for you.

    I'm a senior citizen who just turned 69. By the time the lights, gas and water gets paid, I don't have anything left except for groceries. But, working with Direct Energy brought down my bills and gave me a lot more money I can use on groceries. This is my third year being with Direct Energy and the other companies aren't as reasonable as they do. However, they won't roll the people over and keep the monthly percentage going. I have to call them two months before my update every year so I can stay on the low percentage. Right now I'm at 5.5% or less, but then it goes up to 11% if I'd forgotten to renew it. Every so often, they have a bunch of school kids come around and make sure that I still want to be with them and they're always polite.

    A few years ago, Direct Energy came knocking on my door and offered a cheaper rate for our gas. They told us what their deals were and I gave it a whirl and tried it. But sometimes it's kind of hard to get a hold of them and that's one of the reasons I haven't communicated with them in a long time. A year ago, it was such a hassle because I had to renew my contract and I wanted the same rate that I had. But they were just telling about the offer that they had and it was a little bit more than what my original offer was. I felt like I was getting the runaround. You also never hear from Direct Energy although you might get something in the mail once a year or once every six months saying it's almost time to renew your contract. But that's the extent of it. I hope they make getting ahold of a customer service rep that you can actually speak to a little more user-friendly.

    A rep from Direct Energy came to the door of my house and she said they could help us cut back on at least one of the charges in our bill. Everybody I dealt with at Direct Energy was always polite and courteous. They tell me, “We’ll give you the lowest possible price we can give you,” which they have so far. The only problem is the lack of follow-up with customers. I worked in a medical related field and we always had a follow-up with customers. I would go out into the field and I would directly speak with the customers and ask if they are happy.

    Also, the last time I called Direct Energy, the rep said, “Stay on the line,” and there were a few questions. “How is it as a customer?”, “How are you treated?” Other than that, you don’t really speak to a live person to say something after you spoke to the customer service person. Regarding rates, you just get a letter in the mail and you got to call them up and say, “Listen. I can’t afford that.” Besides that, I would recommend Direct Energy.

    Initially, Direct Energy's price was considerably less expensive than that of FirstEnergy, my previous energy provider. But it was a variable rate and it increased after two years, and the price then was the same if not more than what I was paying before. When I called Direct Energy initially and when I called them back last time, the reps were helpful. We got into a different plan or agreement and that was pleasant. The only thing was that, during the period when we were on the variable rate, we didn't get notified of the price increases, especially in August, and that hit hard. If they were proactive and called to let their customers know that the bill was going to increase based on the variable rate, the customers would appreciate that a lot more than getting a huge rate increase.

    We're all set with Direct Energy for our energy service. We've been with them on and off for five years and we changed over to another energy provider for a little while. After the term of our contract had ended, we could renew with them again at their lowest price. I've had great interactions with the team at Direct Energy. The only thing that didn't highlight their services is that I didn't get notifications of price increases and I didn't know when the cost was going to go up. And I talked it out with their person and they finally figured out a way where I could just change the address and continue with my same contract.     I have been telling friends about Direct Energy as it surely helped with my heating bill. Their rates are better than some of the other people who are trying to upset them. I’d still stay with Direct Energy. They have the best rate for what I consider optimum savings.

    I've been with Direct Energy for several years. They were originally with the condo when I first moved in, or with my previous location. They were referred to me by the apartment complex I've started with. The Direct Energy team was helpful when renegotiating my bill whenever my current incentive was expiring, and trying to see what was available that I can lock in for an extended period of time and at a respectable rate. It’s very nice.

    I just renegotiated another agreement and it’s for two years. It’s a slightly higher electric pricing, which was a little unfortunate but the incentive is that I have free weekends for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday electricity use through the duration of the agreement. And I like that part of the package. So far, I have no complaints with Direct Energy. I’m not seeing any lack of service or poor service. Everything’s normal. We have this big hurricane coming through now, though, making landfall today going into the weekend. And it will be interesting to see how the service is after that. All in all, my experience with Direct Energy is very satisfactory.

    Price was the reason I chose Direct Energy and I would be happy with them as long as they keep the bill down. I would definitely recommend them to a friend. I did recommend them in the very beginning because there is really good savings. However, I do see that the bill goes up because of the price that they pay. But other than that, everything's good.

    I kept Direct Energy all these years because I've never had a problem with calling. I’ve talked to the reps a lot of times and the interactions went very well. They listen to what I have to say and answer all my questions. If I call about an issue, they always try to help me solve it. Their service, through the beginning, is much better.     I’ve been a Direct Energy customer for as long as I can remember. I was shopping around and liked the option that they had with the wind power option. We live up here in Prosper, Texas in a newer development and every time a storm blows in, everybody loses power except those that are CoServ energy. That happens so often even if it was just a mild rainstorm and it would take about an hour or so and it's annoying. It's either because we're up where they're building a new community or if it's the kind of transformer that Direct Energy uses. With my other gas provider, I did not lose power very often. Our neighbors have called because of the issue and they said that it had something to do with the power grid and the CoServ Electricity is on a different power grid because it’s a co-op, not a big electricity company, so they have their own which is why it says up.

    But overall, I really like Direct Energy. We moved into this house about a year ago and the electricity bill here in Texas can get pretty high. We have all three air conditioners running fairly cool all summer and I have not exceeded $300 a month for electricity. I stay home with my kids and I don't work. We have more activities on the weekends, so we really turn that AC up. Those free weekends deal shows how much I save every month had I had to pay for the weekends and it’s over $100 a month. It's a good deal and then it ends up being 7.2 kWh for the rest of it sometimes.

    Direct Energy came to the apartment that I used to live in and they were pushy so I went ahead and signed up. But then, all of their employees have been good. I haven't had any problems with Direct Energy but I haven’t noticed anything they've done for me. Everything I got to do to sign up for the program was not worth what I get out of it. I don't notice their presence anywhere on my Ameren bill. I look at my bills and there might be a $3 or $4 difference at the most compared to my previous provider. But it's nothing where I saved a bunch of money. I realized it's not going to save me $200 on my power bill. But in California, $30 nowadays is a lot of money to some people and they can save on the bills.

    I was under the impression that it was going to be cheaper with Direct Energy. When I first signed up with them, I didn’t fully understand it. I didn’t know I was on a variable rate. My bill went from $87 up to $143, and I’m only on electricity. I don’t have gas out here. As I’m out in the country, I'm on LP. So, that’s a separate bill there. I contacted their representatives online which went smooth. They got right back with me and told me what my rate was going to be. I’ve got a variable rate locked in now and I’m still paying $143 until September. I don’t know what it’s going to go down to, but it better be a lot. I got to wait until my next bill comes and see what it’s actually going to be and if it’s still up there, then Direct Energy will be hearing from me.

    Maybe my old meter was bad. I’ve got a new electric meter that's been installed. I don’t know if that’s going to help me out. I’ve been with Ameren for years. It used to be Illinois Power. It fluctuated up and down. You got your peak seasons, winter months, summer months and I don’t even have air conditioning. Overall though, my experience with Direct Energy has been good, other than the big hike in my bill.
