Enrolling for the Vivint Solar service had been top notch from day one to the end. The sales rep handled everything for me and I was very satisfied with them. Vivint Solar is a good company. They made the whole transition nice and easy and they accommodated the date when I could be home to let them in and were very professional. I got two people that I had been getting ready to recommend to Vivint Solar because they had been having power outages in Maine, where I live.
James, we are happy to hear that you have had a great experience with us. We would like to thank you for your review and we appreciate your recommendations.

The installers were on time as scheduled. Informative. Polite. Efficient. Left work area free of debris. Explained process and what to expect after installation. I would highly recommend Vivint Solar. From the first meeting with the Sales Rep through the installation everyone I have come in contact with has been very professional and courteous.

I've had a very bad experience with Vivint Solar. They installed solar panels on my home. The first set of panels went up in 2015. The second set of panels just went up about a month or so ago. So far, my home has been leaking, my kitchen inside is ruined which has to be redone, as well as the ceiling because of the bad roof. Whoever they sent out to inspect the roof before putting the solar panels on, okay'd the panels to be put on there. With all the leaking, we had to call someone from a roofing company to check it out. They came and discovered that there are three layers of roofing on the house.
The roof was leaking all over and it should never have had solar panels put on. It never should've been approved from the beginning. Vivint Solar recently sent some inspectors out. They went in the attic and on the roof. They did verify that the panels should never have been on the roof, to begin with. It should never have passed inspection for solar panels. They called and said they'll come within a week to remove the panels at no expense to us. We asked to have it in writing, but I still have not heard anything back yet. So we're still waiting for them to come and remove the solar panels so that we can have the roof repaired, completely taken off, and redone. Apparently, we've been told that the original plywood has to come off and we have been quoted $11,000 to get the roof repaired as to what it should be up to code.
I'm very dissatisfied with our the experience. We're senior citizens and we live on a fixed income and that is one of the reasons why we went with the solar. I called them up, I even explained to them what was going on in my home. It was not the first time that they've been made aware that the roof was leaking. In fact, they had sent someone out a year ago to figure out what it was. When I found out what the problem was, I called them, pleaded with them to help me. I got a man who basically told me that they were not going to do anything and for them to remove the solar from my home, it was going to cost me. I don't feel it's fair that we have to pay for a mistake that was made by their company because they were so anxious to make a sale. They really missed the problem with the roof and threw the solar panels on there, and now we're suffering from it. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We are retired and I'd like to save some money on my electric bill. Also, switching to Vivint Solar is being more green. Now, I'm feeling that I may have made a mistake. I did a lot of researching and I asked a lot of questions that I thought they were answered. Even though I thought it was clear, it really wasn't 100% transparent. The service is too new and we've just gone live with the service because it took a while for meeting between the development, the homeowners' association and then the town BGE.
They told me what the rates were, but that this is what BGE is. It would take me 10 years to catch up to BGE. But that's not really true because they were including in all that which they didn't really make totally clear, which are all the fees. They said that when I make my energy, my fees will go away. But my last Vivint bill was getting higher now. My electric bill went down but there was still quite a bit of fees attached to it. My gut feeling is telling me that I'm going to wind up paying more and I'm almost beginning to feel like it's been with a bit of a scam
And then they said when I'm really producing a lot of energy, now I have to pay for whatever I produce. So, my bill in December could be very high because I get a lot of direct sun. They said that if I don't use it, it goes back to into credit to BGE, but BGE may apply it to some of my bill. And then all of a sudden, someone mentioned to me whatever they don't use, they're going to send me a check at the end of the year. That was never mentioned. I thought they answered the questions I asked, but they answered them how they wanted to answer them to me, not a 100%. I also called Vivint when I had a question about the bill. I called the customer service number first, and when I talked to the girl, she said that she didn't know the answer to my question.
In addition, one biggest concern is that the customer service had a lot of bad reviews online and the sales rep was very nice, very genuine and he was there any time I called him right back. The whole process of getting signed on initially was very easy because of him. I called them the other day because I was wondering about my last bill and I needed to ask a question about something. He said that he no longer works for the company. I asked myself what I got myself into because we signed for a 20-year term because they paid for the panels so that we don't have to out the money.
We're sorry to hear you feel that way, Francis. We want to help. Please send your address or account number to socialmedia@vivintsolar.com, so we can dig deeper into the issues you're experiencing. Thank you for leaving your feedback.

Vivint installed 25' Solar arrays on my roof without proper support over three years ago. Now they say they will show me how to install the support by myself that they should have installed 3 yrs ago. My roof is bowing in so bad that the J channels and cables are popping out of the siding. Vivint installers missed 7 lags into the trusses and left open holes in my roof to let rain and snow come leaking into my attic ruining my insulation, saturating my trusses (soaked and cracking), soaking my ceiling wallboard, and ruining my wooden floors.
At no time did Vivint inspectors ever go up into the attic. They only stuck their heads inside the attic and snapped some photos. Then some structural engineer in Utah looked at the photos and said the roof was structurally sound. Now they say that I need a knee wall and proper support but will not do it. They expect me to do it. Vivint did not even complete the contract with me. I have all three copies, and on the back they failed to complete the rest of the contract. Now Vivint will not take ownership and expects me, a 100% disabled veteran on a limited budget to pay over $28,500 to fix my roof. No one in Vivint will honor their mistake and disrespects disabled military veterans. Somebody please help me!

Solar energy has been something that I had been interested in for a long time. Working in IT for a living, I’ve always impressed when a company uses modern day technology to its advantages. I also have been interested in finding out what the options that were available so I decided to look further into it. The enrollment process with Vivint Solar was really nice. They did everything electronically either through an iPad, a phone, or a reference to basically a website. There was no real paperwork involved which was great as it saves the planet because you’re not throwing all those papers around. The customer service team has reached out to me to welcome me, inform me how to get to the website and open up an account and check my daily usage. Overall, Vivint did a great job and I’m 100% happy with the system.
Alfred, we love to hear experiences like these! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

I'm tired of paying the communist Edison Company, and I used to do air conditioning work for them years ago. They have no power savings in the whole building but they have the nerve to send a letter about my usages. Their grid is over a 100-year-old and I don't want anything to do with those people so I decided to look into solar energy services. Then, a salesman from Vivint came by the house. His name was Taylor and he was a great guy. He got all worked out in our neighborhood. My neighbor right next to me got solar but he had to put a roof on. And then three more in the neighborhood also got solar.
It took about a month and a half to get the solar panels up. I'm retired and my son's working a Local Union 250 for the air conditioning. My son got his electrician to put in a 200 amp main for me which gave me more balance. I'm doing pretty good. I'm really satisfied with the bills so far. Vivint’s customer service called me a few times and I spoke to several people over the course and they've been nice. They came out last week because I didn’t have internet and they gave me something to hook up. We just got internet yesterday but they got their box and we plugged it in, so everything is good. I'm very happy with Vivint.
Thank you for leaving us your feedback, Charles! We’re happy to hear that Taylor did a great job. We appreciate your business.

I had my ups and downs with Vivint Solar. In the beginning, it was great. The enrollment went well. I filled out the thing online and everyone that I spoke with was very professional and treated me fairly. My rep, Brandon, came out to my home, sat down, explained everything, and wasn't pushy. Then the crew that came over was helpful, polite, and fantastic. They answered questions and explained everything to me. They worked hard and left the place neat and clean. They were also very experienced and did everything up to my expectations. I was happy with that part of of my experience.
Then there was a leak in the roof and my ceiling got screwed up. I knew that it was part of the game but when I called customer service and tried to get a response, it seemed like they were dragging their feet. When I called, I couldn't get to the people who I was trying to get in contact with and I was annoyed. I called them again on a Thursday and nobody called me back until Monday. So I called them again, we set up an appointment, and their guys came here today. They went up there and explained everything to me. I have some damage in my home so, they're going to have customer service call me back and set up something.
I have Vivint Solar for three months now and I'm still paying PSE&G the same $205 a month. Then, on top of everything else, Vivint took a few dollars. In essence, I'm paying more money now than when I didn't have solar. It's not making sense to me and sometimes I feel like the product was misrepresented or oversold. I was told that I would be saving 80% and I was expecting that. But I have not seen any return of investment. Right now, the sun hasn't been out, there's bad weather, and there's snow on the panels. But I have 31 panels and I should be producing a lot of energy. It's supposed to produce 8500 watts and I only use 7500 watts. Something's not right. I also don't know how the billing thing is working. I was going to give a call to the billing department and have them explain it to me. So at this point, I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

I was shopping around for solar panels and lost my interest. But then, one of the Vivint sales reps came to my house and started talking to me about the company. I've heard about Vivint before, but as he was explaining things, I started to get more interested in it until he finally convinced me to try them out because of the benefits and everything involved in it. Enrolling was fast and easy. This is my first month with them and it has been seamless. But I will see the big difference once I get the bill this month.
Vivint is definitely a great company. And working in a customer service company myself, I liked their service. They were very detail oriented, professional, friendly and great. I want to thank everybody involved and all the departments I’ve spoken to. And I’m going to share with my friends and co-workers something that would get them interested in Vivint.

I looked into solar energy services to conserve money and electricity. I've got two homes with Vivint Solar and it has been okay and lovely with them. They knew what they were doing. The process of enrolling with them was very good and it went straight through. My interactions with customer service were good as well. However, I was refinancing my house, but Vivint Solar put a lien on my house and they took forever to take it out. Also, they were supposed to give a friend of mine the referral, but they never sent it to her. Nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with my decision to go solar.

Last July, a rep from Vivint Solar came to my door. I've had interactions with solar companies three years ago and they indicated that my roof was too shaded and that I could not have enough sun. The rep, however, gave me the impression that this time it could work, that it doesn't have to be the way it was then because the qualities of the equipment were better, the panels and the other things. Then, when we got to the point of making predictions as to how many panels on the roof and where they would go, it seemed like there was a positive result. So, I decided to go forward with it. However, it took a long time from the July initiation until they hooked me up. They sent electricians here on December 5th to change my electrical box in my garage so that it would accommodate my system. The electricians did a good job.
On December 6th, the inspectors from Vivint as well as from my town came. Then, on December 7th somebody came from my electrical company to pick up the meter that was no longer being used which had been taken up by the electrician. The last time someone visited me here after all the work was done was December 8. Then I thought I might have the thing functioning by Christmas but that did not happen. It was disappointing waiting for the proper exchange of data between my town, Vivint, and the electric company. It was back and forth, and very frustrating. I occasionally made phone calls and sent emails, some of them not exactly calm ones, trying to get everything done. The information that was being transmitted to me turned out to be not true because when I would call my electrical company they would give me a different story.
They told me that I still needed to have a solar meter switched in when in reality the solar meter was in there sometime in the fall. Nothing could frustrate me more than to have my electrical company said, "Yes, we came out and we put it there." And then to have Vivint tell me that it's not there. Also, people did not know what the hell they were talking about. I would be told something one time, then I would go back and talk to somebody else the next time and it seemed like I got somebody who knew what they were talking about. Then I have to call again and then I'll be told again that I didn't have a solar meter. Finally, there was a person who finally intervened and called me thrice. She was a supervisor and she did a very good job of interacting with me. She told me that she would call me every Friday.
It didn't happen for that many Fridays but she was true to her word. And it seems like that was a better situation. So some people seem to be competent, others not so. Then everything finally came together around the first week of February. But there was one other item that needed to be taken care of even though it was all hooked up and I was given the go-ahead to put the lever up on the thing and let it start. I guess I did not interpret the instructions very well so Vivint sent a tech out on February 9 and it turned out that a knob had to be turned on When he did that the system started to function. Then about another week or plus after that when I sent an email to Vivint Solar indicating that although I could log in to the site and I could look at things like photographs and documents and things like that. I could not see any production occurring. I could not even see a graph.
They looked at it themselves and they could not see it either. Then when I went in a couple of days later to see if I could log in to the thing and get it to show up, lo and behold a graph came up. So somebody corrected something at Vivint. Everything was finally together by mid-February. One thing I was highly impressed by was the technical people they sent to my house. They always were knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. They were also very pleasant. Also, my rep visited me until all the panels were up and on the roof. Even though I was frustrated, it seemed like things were quite good. I'm hoping it's going to benefit me as time goes on in reducing the size of my electric bills.
Thank you for leaving your feedback, Anthony!

I have Vivint solar panels for 2 years. I have had my gutters ripped off twice before due to the snow. Today is the third time, but along with the gutter I have lost my siding, rain spout and floodlights. I was never made aware when signing the contract that the snow would be an issue. When I reported it the first time I was told that it would be taken care of by Pat **, General Manager, but it never was addressed.
The second time I was told that I would have to purchase a $600 guard from Vivint. I said then I wanted the panels removed but they replied that I would have to buy out of the 20 year contract. We are senior citizens and can't believe we have been scammed. I asked them how I was responsible for something that they put up knowing full well this was going to be a problem. I am on the verge of obtaining legal counsel and contacting all my neighbors that have your panels and initiating a class action suit against Vivint. I would appreciate a call back at ** ASAP.

Solar energy, being a renewable energy resource, was interesting for me. Then, ultimately, we'd like to be able to have a battery in the house and we'd have some back-up power in case of power grid failure, for some medical reasons. So far, we're very satisfied with our decision to go solar. I had been talking to my neighbor who works for Vivint and he mentioned about Vivint Solar. Everything went smoothly when we enrolled with them. They rolled the process out over time, piece by piece, as things came and they clued me in on everything with phone calls and emails. The few times that we had some interactions with the customer service reps, they took us through the process step-by-step. They were very thorough and timely, and they did great. Vivint Solar did an excellent job.

My wife and I had been contemplating solar for a few years. At the time, the house was a rental and when we decided to move back into it, solar energy was on our radar but it was not affordable. We looked at it, thought about it, prayed about it and then we pulled the trigger with Vivint. ‘Cause this is California and California will hit you with every tax they can think of. So, I try to save a buck anytime I can.
The whole process was easy. The Vivint rep came knocking on the door and he explained everything to us. We had some questions back and forth, and he went through it with great detail. He is somebody that cares and is concerned with the customer, not just making a buck. And a big thing for me is service after the sale. I have had a couple of questions, very minor since we put the system in, and he’s answered right away.
I had to call one time and the person that I got was reading off a 3x5 script card. I told her to put the card down, and she continued to read. I said, “Screw it. I’ll just talk to the rep there”. And the rep Billy got right on it. Sometimes they fail to realize that there’s a human being on the other end of the line. Other than that, I’ve gotten emails when they were going through the process, and it was very informative. They kept me up to speed as to what was going on. With the Vivint program, you don’t have a whole lot to lose. I would recommend it to anybody.

My electric bill was way too high especially in the summertime when I'm running the air conditioner a lot so I went with Vivint Solar. So far, I'm very satisfied with my decision. I've had panels on one side of the house for the last couple of years and I added more solar to the house this year and I'm hoping it’s going to be even better. I haven't really got a new price with the new solar yet so I haven't compared the prices yet. It just takes forever for them to get things up and running but that's because of the fact of dealing with the electric company. They had the panels all installed and ready to go in December. And it wasn’t until February before they got the permits.
The gentleman that set me up with Vivint originally was really good. And then, I had a new guy the second time around that came in. They were very conscientious. They tried to do whatever they could and they got right back to you. I'm happy with the way they operate. However, I'd like to be able to go online and find out how much I'm generating but I'm like a dinosaur with the computer. Maybe they could do something about that and have somebody come in and help me with it. I've recommended Vivint Solar to other people and told them that it was a great deal. When we first signed up, they told us that we would be charged 15 cents per kilowatt-hour for the usage. But we found out that it wasn't the usage that would be paying for. They put more panels on our roof and now we're generating more power, and we're paying for that generation. Our house faces perfectly for solar energy and when I checked into it, in the beginning, it was way too expensive. And then we were going to move but when we decided not to, I got serious about looking into solar and signed up with Vivint Solar. The process was so long to get it fired up. I've only had it running about two months now so I'm looking forward to seeing what a yearly average comes out, but so far, I'm satisfied.
Vivint Solar's approval process is incredible. It took them forever to get authorization from the township and PECO. It took forever to get an approval from the township. And then somebody came out and inspected for what needed to be done for installation. And then Vivint had to have that approved. They had to wait for the notification from the township and then once the township approved, it gave them a certification. And PECO asked to give them a certification. It took almost six months from the time I signed up with them until it was actually turned on. During the process, Vivint communicated well but the process was frustrating and they kept saying they can't change it. But I've recommended them to a couple of the neighbors.

It has been a nightmare deal with this company starting with the sales rep, who came to my home. He stated he wanted to use my house as a model and there would be no cost to me at all. That was the first of many lies told to me. Next he said if I refer any of my neighbors to him and they get service he would give me cash for customers. That didn't happen either. Got him 4 customers. Had my panels installed and on 3 occasions they were not producing but was billed by them and Pepco and the excuse was Pepco equipment was the problem. Contacted them. They came out. No problem found.
Contacted Vivint. Went around office to office in which you get hung up on, have to start all over again until they magically find there is a problem with their equipment and set up to fix problem. They also lie to you and tell you for their equipment not working properly they will issue a credit but they don't tell you that will never happen. Back to the lie game. They will send you department, transfers your calls until they hang up on you hoping you just go away. They are not professional at all. They are a nightmare in hell to even deal with at this point. They won't contact you when there's a problem with your system that they tell they monitor from the office but if they can't take money from your account better believe you'll get a call. Unsatisfied customer.

My goal was not functioning over a month and I received a bill in the mail from my electric company and realized something must be wrong with the solar because the bill was $167.00. When I contacted them they said, "Yes your solar is not working," I set up an appointment and they had to replaced the WiFi receiver. I wanted to be reimbursed for the electric bill and I wanted to know why they did not know my solar was malfunctioning? They said I should have been logging in and checking my activity and I would have seen it was down. WOW is all I can say because I am sure that I never did that before with SCE.
To be reimbursed they wanted my SCE statements from April of last year until now which SCE said they would not furnish me that far back so when I tell Adam at Vivint Solar that SCE refused to send the statements and would only send me a snapshot of the last year he said that is not true. Other people have had no problems sending those in and if I wanted to be reimbursed I needed to send them in or they are not going to help me. I do not see how their equipment failure has now turned into my responsibility to fight with the electric company fight with the solar company. I WANT MY $167.00 YOU OWE ME because you did not pay attention to your solar equipment.

A gentleman that came by representing the solar system mentioned about the gentleman who owned the company by Tesla and that triggered me to go on with Vivint Solar. Tesla is a really good company and if it is doing solar, then I have more reason to go for the company about now. Vivint called me up and set up the service. Then they automatically withdraw the funds from my bank account. And as soon as I received the first bill, I freaked out but when the second bill arrived, it was only $13 from Southern California Edison. Vivint Solar is costing me around $35 so my bill is under $50 a month, and that was crazy. I used to pay between $150 to $200 and now, I pay $50. That’s a dramatic change and I’m happy with them.

But the Vivint Solar reps have been helpful and very friendly, and some of them are knowledgeable. The reps were excellent and they did their job well. I like them and I'm very satisfied with them. I'd recommend Vivint Solar to my family and relatives because I know that our solar energy is going to be good for everything. Vivint Solar was doing a door to door thing then. We've been looking into going solar for a long time, I just couldn't afford it. Vivint Solar came up with a plan that was reasonable. The rep said, “What if we could put it in without having any initial cost to you?" And I said, “That’d be great!" And it has worked out. The installation was fine. The installers came when they said they were going to be here. They got it done in their timeframe and picked up everything, didn't leave a mess. The system has been running for about three months now. I check out my bill occasionally and we're saving money. We're 100% satisfied. In 2013 asked Vivint to remove solar panels so I could repair my roof. After the repair Vivint came to reinstall the panels. I went up there they said they were done only to find that they set the panels down on the corner and pierced holes in my brand new roof in various places also it looked like they dropped a hole saw drill and gouged out my roof. Had I not gone up there to inspect myself I would have never know what kind of damage they had done. Vivint fixed the issue but only after a dozen phone calls and complaints. So now 2018 I call Vivint to remove 4 panels and they want to charge me $500. I reluctantly pay but told them if I have to pay that much I want them all removed. I expressed my concern with Vivint about the previous time I had them do this and I was assured it would be done right.
After I had my patio installed I called Vivint to reinstall. I again expressed my concern. After the install I went up to inspect the work only to find trash and all the wires and brackets hanging down touching the roof. This is not how it was when they removed it. I called them back and asked them to fix it and I want my money back to which they said as a COURTESY they will refund me $250 of the $500. This is unacceptable and asked for my full refund as a COURTESY! In order for me to get the rest of MY money Vivint want me to sign a contract stating I cannot speak poorly about them. I sent an email asking why when you gave me half the money already without signing anything. I'm not sure where else to turn.

I wanted to save the planet and save a little money as well so I decided to get Vivint Solar services and I was really satisfied. It's pumping out a lot of power and it's billing us only a few bucks. The enrollment went smoothly. There were a couple of bumps, but they seemed to work with me really well. I couldn't be off of work being a teacher and they gave me options. So, I gave the installers the password to my garage door, they came in, did their thing and let me know when they were all done. And as about the time I came home, they were wrapping things up, signed off on some stuff and they were done. They were really flexible, which was awesome.
We were anxious to get it started but it took a good three months before we had the system up and running. But we had some family stuff happening too so part of the reason that there was a little pause on there for a while was on us. But once they got it installed, it probably took a month to finally go through all the loopholes of PNM and power company and what not. Vivint reps were great. They were very friendly and answered all my questions. I've been telling a couple of people at work about Vivint. The sales rep was very nice and knowledgeable in what he was talking about. He convinced me to switch to solar. I started looking at it and it seemed that it would help me because I wouldn’t be paying that high electric bill that I was paying. I was paying up to $300 a month on Edison. I've had solar for two years now and I’m very satisfied with that decision. My Edison bill is way lower now, sometimes under $10. Then the highest that I’ve had the Vivint one is about $125 and that’s in the winter time. But in the summer time, it comes down and it’s been as low as $68.
The enrollment wasn’t very difficult at all either. They took care of everything and they explained it to me. After it was all installed, we went through the inspections with the city and then the inspection with Edison. Then they told me to turn it on and it’s on. I also asked them what happens if I produce more electricity than what I need and they said that it would go to the grid. Edison would take care of that and then whatever my bill was with them, it would probably be reduced way down or I would get a check at the end of the year.

Beware of Vivint Scam. In Sept. 2017 I was shocked to find Vivint installing a massive solar system on 4 sides of the tile roof of a rental property I own in Desert Hot Springs, CA. I immediately had them stop, and said that I had not authorized the work. They said someone would call me to straighten it out. Nobody did. I called & emailed them, and each time I was passed off to someone else ending with promises that I would be promptly contacted. I never was. I had my attorney reach out and still no response. Instead, I was emailed a nasty 8-page document called a "Confidential General Release, Waiver and Settlement Agreement".
This document would have prohibited me from taking any legal action, making any complaint, and releasing Vivint fully from any liability in exchange for a promised repair of unknown quality & a 2 year warranty that probably isn't worth the paper it is written on. But I am left with 160 holes in my roof, as well as the Vivint electric setup on the side of the house. The roof now needs to be replaced. On looking into the matter, I found that Vivint had forged a signature of an unknown person as "owner" on the City permit application for the $33,880 installation. Vivint lied to my tenant that I had already approved the installation and that her relative was already a Vivint customer. Vivint told my tenant that the system would be completely free and oversized because they were going to sell the output and give her a credit. No contract was ever signed by me or my tenant, and none of Vivint's promises were ever put in writing.

The other companies wanted to put it on our property taxes but Vivint Solar had a different solution to that. We're running our solar with the electric company and it's supposed to balance that with a certain percentage. Vivint Solar has also been really good from the beginning and their people were knowledgeable as far as the installation. The longest and hardest part of the process was getting the city inspectors to react right away. But as soon as that went through, Edison said it was done and they would finally release everything. But it took about 30 days to get us up and running.
It was turned on in July and the first impact of it started in August but my Edison bill was even higher. I have two people in my house and barely anything on but a little TV. I'm still trying to figure out where the homeowner starts getting a break. There is supposed to be some buildup on the grid as the weather gets warmer. But here in Southern California, lately, it's been 85 degrees everyday and the solar is working fine. Plus from monitoring it, I feel that Edison is even using all my solar and I'm just getting trickles of it. Edison takes advantage of it and I'm still getting a $70 bill.
I'm not getting any answer from Edison either, but I could call Vivint and ask anything I want. They answered all my questions right to the detail and if they don’t know, they would tell me to wait and they would get somebody on the phone who knows. I can even call the representative who gave me the first talk about it and he gives me little insights and details. If there's something he can't answer, someone calls me right away too. Vivint seems to be legit as far as them saying how it works, but it doesn’t seem like Edison is cutting any slack. There is some discrepancy in there.
The solar system companies are trying to do right by us but the electric company is still sucking us in. I know that solar will work better for me if I had my own backup battery supplies and I actually would love to pull totally off the grid as far as dealing with electric company but the power backups right now are so expensive. They almost cost more than the solar system. Right now, I'm just trying to see how everything is going to be working out as the weather gets warmer and warmer.

A friend of ours told us that they have solar energy and it seems to work for them. We wanted to try it too. My husband never trusts anybody, but when Phillip came to our house, we agree with him on Vivint Solar. Our enrollment to the service went well but there was too much paperwork. And I was going to print out the contract because I'd rather have it in my hand instead of using the online method. The process seemed easy and they had nice customer service. They had young people come who were knowledgeable and they knew what they were doing. My husband dealt with them and he liked and gave a good compliment to everybody.
One thing though was they didn't finish the job down there and my wall is still open. A lady called me and I told her that I didn't know anybody that could fix it. Later on, they talked to my husband and they sent us a check. But I haven't had the wall fixed yet as we still have to wait for our neighbor come look at it. Other than that, this is our first month using the service and everything seems to be doing well.

I bought a new house and I’ve always wanted solar on my house, so I figured it was a good time. We’ve been looking at a bunch of different solar companies and kind of knew the different costs. We called one of our neighbors who sells Vivint and had him come down and give us the spiel. He gave us a good overview of everything and Vivint Solar wasn’t necessarily the cheapest company we’ve looked at but we liked the fact that they’re a larger company and so they’re more likely to be around in 10 years. We decided to go with them.
The enrollment was smooth as butter but it has not been as good with their customer service. It didn’t seem like the people that work at the corporate office doing the customer support knew what was really going on. So, I would call our sales rep, and he would call around, give us a callback, and he knew more about what was going on than the customer service reps did. It felt like they were just giving me the scripted answers and not actually looking anything up. But we had an excellent sales guy. He kept us updated and still checks in on us. Also, it's a rough time a year to turn on solar but I’m pretty satisfied so far. When going solar, make sure you have a good sales guy but talk to all the different companies and get lots of quotes. But from what we found, Vivint long term probably is going to be the best choice because they’re not just a solar company and so they’re going to be there.

We have Solar with Vivint. Their system didn't report the usage correctly. I scheduled an appointment. They gave a 2 hour-window. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. I called to schedule another appointment. They gave a 2 hour-window. The technician called up several hours after the scheduled time and said he was running behind and couldn't make it. He said Customer Service would call me back to schedule another time. Nobody called me back. I complained on their Facebook page. They scheduled a tech to come out.
Good thing, the tech came out this time. The problem couldn't be fixed. They scheduled another tech. The problem couldn't be fixed. Then they scheduled another tech. This time, this tech didn't show up, didn't call. I had to call Customer service up to schedule another appointment. They wasted hours of my time trying to be home to get their stupid system resolve. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. Even Comcast doesn't do this **. Stay away from this company!

I recently received a bill from Edison where they gave me an estimated Net Energy Monitoring bill of over $1500. For the year. In other words I will owe Edison about $1500 in July when the Net bill arrives. Now I can change over to pay monthly but that is an extra $75 on top of the $1500. I might add that I usually do not pay $1500 per year for energy before having Vivint place panels on my roof. The panels were supposed to deliver 80% of the total bill, but it looks like they are going to cost me 80% more than if I had done nothing at all. I contacted Vivint and they want me to supply them with copies of my bills for the last year so they can "analyze" where the problem is, but not fix it.
Let the buyer beware of how some companies take advantage of citizens by telling them half truths and out and out lies until it is too late to do anything about it. I am now looking at hours of work and higher expenses that I can ill afford trying to do the right thing. Edison knows all of the tricks to screw people who no longer want to be held capture to the PUC and other public trusts such as the State Lawmakers who are only too happy to steal money any way they can. Stay away from this company and all who are like it as they are only thieves with ink pens instead of guns.

We heard that people were realizing significant savings on their electrical bills, so we opted to take a closer look at solar energy. That’s all because of the people across the street who had a Vivint Solar installed and spoke with us about it. Enrolling with Vivint Solar has been a little confusing because this is a monumental change for most people walking into this type of a situation where you always had a monthly bill coming in and then you don’t think about it. So far, we haven't seen the difference. We talked with somebody from Eversource yesterday on the solar issue and they explained that February should show something and that we'll have a better idea of what's going to happen. Once the difference hits, we'll be a bit more pleased about it.
As far as the installation of the product, everybody has been really good, but sometimes things get a little confusing when you're trying to communicate between Eversource and Vivint. It's like they're not connecting with each other. On the other hand, their customer service has been as helpful as they can be. But if they don’t know what we're being told by Eversource and if Eversource doesn’t know what's going on with Vivint, then that’s where it gets confusing. We were told that we could fire up the power but the explanation of that was a bit confusing. I think we missed one of the switches initially because we would have been up about a week and a half earlier.
But then, finally, my neighbor came over and said, “Hey, there's a switch in here under this box up in here.” and then he hit it. Then somebody explained later that a lot of times the installers leave that switch on, to begin with so you don’t have to look for it. In this case, they didn’t, so we weren't aware of it. I have a good friend who I keep in touch with if there are issues. Since he's part of the sale staff for Vivint, he usually gets back to me if there's an issue. Other than the confusion, our experience has been fine. It has been a positive experience, overall.

Vivint Solar had a sales rep that was knocking door-to-door in the area. We turned him down at first. But our neighbor had gone ahead and done it and after talking to her, we went ahead and gave him a callback and went through everything. We got interested in solar energy service for the money savings. The enrollment process was fine. You just have to have a lot of patience. I understand that they all have a lot of red tape and there were some hang-ups that created the process to drag out a little bit, but I don't believe it was any direct fault of Vivint Solar. It was just a culmination of all the groups that had to work together.
When it comes to customer service, there are two different sides. One, the overall interaction, the people I've spoken to have been pleasant. There's not been any complaints as far as the actual service itself. On the other hand, I do feel that either I was being misled for about a month or there were some uneducated situations there that it took quite a bit longer to get resolved than it should have. That was the information reading on the website. I kept being told that there was a problem with the interface on their side. And then, after about a month and I finally got stern about it, the last person I spoke with actually told me that it just hadn't been turned on for me to view it yet and they were finally able to get it done. But for an entire month, I was being told that it was an interface issue and they couldn't do anything yet. But I don't think I was intentionally misled and they did finally get it resolved.
I've been decently satisfied with going solar. I don't think the electric bill was as a low as it was originally touted, but we've only been live for two months so I don't think everything has settled down for me to really get a true reading on it yet. Vivint Solar was a very friendly company and they tried to make things as easy as possible moving through it. And if somebody was interested in going solar that I knew that didn't, I would definitely recommend them.

I got a bill last month for $40 and I just had a bill this month for $80, and I was disappointed. I spoke to them yesterday and they said I have to give it a year until it kicks in. But had I known this, I never would’ve signed up. I could pay those bills without the solar. Also, they said it’s the standard and I haven’t had enough sun. But if I didn’t have enough sun, I should still be able to recognize some savings. Now, I’m back to square one. I feel misled now but I would still recommend.

Going for solar energy was a big investment but I thought in the long run it would be good. But the process of going solar has been a terrible experience. It was a very long process. I absolutely fell through the cracks. My rep for Vivint left the company and when he left the company apparently so did I. So the ball was completely dropped and the panels had already been installed. I was already being charged by the finance company for the panels but there was no movement whatsoever on getting me approved to go live.
And it took many, many phone calls and many hours collectively over a period of months to actually get anyone to really spring into action. Then as it happened I got the approval to go live while I was in Europe and I was sick so I missed the email. And that all it actually was was 1 email in the 900 emails that I sort of didn’t get to while I was sick in Europe and nobody ever called to follow up.
Nobody ever called to make sure that I had gotten the email, that I knew I could go live. I still, as far as I'm concerned, owed at least two checks for the Mosaic and for the loan because Vivint paid for a couple of months with the loan because I was paying the electric bill and the solar bills. So they took care of the first two checks without any issue whatsoever. But then following that, despite the fact that I follow up on a frequent basis, nothing has happened and I haven’t received any more checks. So that’s another thing on my to-do-list but I'm very busy and it's really, frankly, very obnoxious.
I just called yesterday and the guy is actually in my house right now fixing it but it's disturbing because I really think that it's outrageously expensive for a long time and the equipment is garbage. Everything has to plug into one of my outlets in my house. So you're paying for this big install when really I can plug and unplug an outlet myself. I would not recommend them to anyone at this point. And I think my panels on my solar are way too small. I don’t think it's going to even come close to covering my electric bill.
I haven’t been live so I don’t have any idea how much solar I'm going to produce. But all I know is that my Mosaic bill is $114 and my electric bill is more than $170. Vivint came to me shortly after I moved in. I had very little history of electric usage and I didn’t have any appliances. So I told them that I'm getting a washer and dryer and a refrigerator. I know my electric bill is going to be higher than the last two months and they said that they were building that in but they clearly did not build that in unless, miraculously, it's going to cover the $170. My understanding was that the Mosaic bill was supposed to sort of cancel out the electric bill but I had the feeling that the array was not taken off.
And although everyone is lovely it's all very time-consuming because you’d call in and they want to read the book that’s been written prior to them being on the phone with you which is understandable. They want to get educated. My panels were installed in May and I just went live. This has been going on a long time and it's sort of disappointing.
Also the Vivint security people were not really honest about explaining the relationship between Vivint Solar and Vivint security. They're two separate companies apparently so I have two different panels. So I have a panel that looks like it should control the solar and the security system in my bedroom and then I have another panel in my entry hall that’s just for the security, that has nothing to do with the solar. So it didn’t streamline anything and I'm using an enormous number of my outlets in my house. I don’t have that many outlets and I a lot of them are plugged into Vivint stuff, be it solar or security. I'm just not a happy camper.

I had an inquiry about solar a couple of years ago and I got a call from them telling me that my house was not eligible because of the trees that were on the southside of our house. But Vivint said that it was not going to be a problem and that's what started the conversation. The biggest obstacle we had was getting the city of Berkeley to approve the permits. That's the one that took the longest. And they warned me about it that it was going to take six to eight weeks minimum, but it took about two months.
Once we had the permits, the installation was done in a couple hours, and then they inspected it. We started talking in June or July and I was up running and I turned on my electricity in November 18th. I'm all set and it's fabulous. I've saved so much money. My first bill was $5.71 for electricity and my second one was $12.76. Enrolment was okay and customer service responds right away if I have any questions. They've been really good about emailing me with information like when I could turn on my panels. I'm very pleased. The only is if I save enough money this year, I was actually thinking about buying the panels, which they said is totally possible within the first year. I've already recommended them to a couple people.

They’ve contacted me and they were here when they said they were going to be here. However, the overall process took a little bit long. The installation was a breeze, but waiting on the power company’s approval for everything took the longest time. But other than that I wasn’t really too concerned about it. Also, my experience with their customer service team was wonderful. They were courteous and was able to answer my questions. So far, going solar seems to be good. The only thing I was a little concerned about was through the whole set-up. It has the automatic billing and it comes out of your account and it said that I would get an email on the 10th informing me that the money was going to come out in 10 days but I’m not getting the emails.

There seemed a lot more to it than I thought it would be. But the installers came pretty quickly when they actually were scheduled to come and they threw things right up in the pouring rain. I was surprised they did it in the pouring rain and they banged that job right up. Then we waited on the paperwork, the inspector, the county, and the PSEG. It took longer than I thought. The nice salesman came around in June and it only went online in December. Now I got a bill from Vivint for six dollars and 36 cents. I'd recommend them. People ought to put some panels up, not so much for the money, if it saves money or not, but for the environment. I got grandchildren now and I want to see the environment survive another ice age.

Vivint Solar's sign was on a truck I saw in front of a house that they were installing solar panels on. I then looked at it several years ago and at that time the only options were to buy or to lease, so that made no sense to me. When the Vivint agent came to my door most recently and told me about the way that they’re now doing it that was very intriguing because there’s no exposure to me. The exposure is really taken on by Vivint. It has only been up for about a month and a half, so this being the winter we’re not generating a whole lot of power but so far so good and I'm very satisfied.
They kept me abreast of every step along the way. They even had my electrical box changed because they didn’t like the way something that was pre-existing in the box, and they footed the bill to do all that. When they did the installation, that came very quickly. Then we waited around for some of their staff so it took a couple of weeks to finish. We waited around for them to be satisfied with the setup and once they were satisfied with the electrical from that point until the point they contacted the city inspector, and to the point we got approval from PG&E. They rubbed me the wrong way so I said that I would eventually get solar but it would be with a different company. Two years ago, I also tried to get solar up on our other house but the circuit breaker box wasn’t updated so we had to update that before we could get the solar panels up there.
With Vivint Solar, everything was done within a month. First, they called and made an appointment, then a guy came out and did measurements. They also called to give me updates and when I could power on the thing at the house. I have recommended Vivint Solar to three different people and all three of them had gotten Vivint Solar. Cory agreed my system has not been working since July 2015 and I would be reimbursed any payments I had made if I sent proof. They have no record of my payments. I contacted my credit union, paid over $100, and sent Cory copies of checks. He then calls me and says I am due a $480 credit, that's it and my system still isn't working. I've only been active a little over three weeks but the system is basically what the sales rep told me it would be. I got my first bill from Duke yesterday and my total power bill is heavily down from last year at the same time period. And that includes the solar payment and the payment to Vivint to pay them or to pay the mortgage company. The payment to Duke Energy amounts to a little over half what it was the same time period last year.

Vivint Solar was one of the solar companies I liked because I didn’t have to pay anything upfront for it at all. It all came where I buy the power from them and I don’t have to pay for it and some of the options whether I buy the panels or not after six years. The sales rep came here to the house, we did some talking, did some looking and his people come up. He was very polite and very kind. I've called them a couple of times and they’ve been very responsive to my questions.

I was hoping to lower our air conditioning bill in the summer so I looked at SolarCity previously, but the way they had it structured with the lease didn’t do me any good. I've always been looking and when I found out the details of Vivint Solar, it interested me and then I talked to their rep, Taylor. Enrolling with them went smoothly. We had to sign the papers and then I went on the internet and signed up over there so I could see what was going on. They kept me in touch all the time with what was going on. Their customer service team has always been pleasant and cordial. It’s only been less than a week that the system has been on and so far, I'm happy with the way everything is going. I'd recommend them.

Some friends of ours had a Vivint Solar system installed and solar energy is the way to go so we decided to have one installed too. I was very pleased with the installation and we have the system on for less than a month now. Their installers were very professional and they knew what they were doing. I was a little hesitant about the penetrations through the roof, but watching them basically tap the rafters at the start was interesting. They were taking a hammer and going across the roof, listening for the sound of the joist.
I was pleased with Vivint Solar reps. They explained everything, they were professional and courteous, especially Xavier and the other gentleman that we talked with. The only downside to the whole experience is that it’s taken over a year to do it. But I think that was with the permitting and the going back and forth with PECO. They initially came out with a system that included our garage, but our line from the pole was not big enough to take the back feed and it was going to be $750 to change that. That was part of the delay because they had to redesign the system to fit the line.
Their customer service was very good. I called them several times when we got information back that something had occurred. I called in and let them know what was going on and gave them a heads up and they were appreciative of it. They put the boxes on the side of the house along with where the electric is. I am not an electrician but I dealt with electricity and electronics for over 50 years, and it was a very professional installation.
Thank you so much for your review William. It's always good to hear that our people were professional. We look forward to the years to come that you will be saving from solar, and have the opportunity of going green.

I've heard nightmares but the enrollment was very easy. The paperwork went through within three months because in Jersey you need a permit for everything. They put my panels up and we waited for the inspector come to my house. And after the inspector came to my house the paper had to be written off then they had to get it back. And they had to send it to the electric company. That was only waiting game. I had a question yesterday. I couldn't go online because I wasn't getting any email. I called up their customer service last night because I haven't had time either with two little kids and the rep was very helpful and like one-two-three I had my accounts set up.

Vivint Solar came around to different neighborhood doing promotions, and I decided to go ahead and try them. Everybody around me had solar, and I have been putting it off for so long. So, I thought that it was the right time. I am 87 and retired, so I was hoping that I would pay less for my electricity in the long run. I was on level pay with an electric company ever since I moved up here over 20 years ago, and I didn’t quite understand how Vivint Solar would work for the first year or so.
I didn’t realize that in for the first year, I would be paying something. I didn’t put anything upfront, and if I were to leave and go someplace else, it will just continue on with this house, and nothing to do with me. They came out and I signed some papers, and it was an easy process, but It took them a while to get started. I talked to them the first time in August, and before it finally got going, it took until December. But, I understood that it was because they had to get okayed from the city. So, it happened at the end of the year, so I didn’t have to pay as much.
Vivint Solar also has an agreement with Southern California where they pay you some money when it comes to a certain point each year. People at Vivint Solar were all very professional, and I’m pretty satisfied with the decision to go solar. However, I want to have papers that I can look at because I’m old. But they’re all paperless, and I like to look at things. So, I’m going to call them to find out if I had anything because there was no place in their website where I could find the answer.

If I can save anyone from my nightmare I will. Thousands of us are Victims of Vivint Solar across the US. They have destroyed my home, with over $367,000 In damages due to their incompetent install. Once they damage your property you will have to take legal actions against them, they will not repair, nor take any responsibility for what they do. Do your research and you will find heartbreaking stories of victims and wonder how the Govt. has not shut them down?
If you do have damages carefully consider calling your insurance immediately. Vivint convinced me I did not need to because they would take care of the customers. Not true, and if you do not report your loss right away they do not cover the damages. A win for Vivint, because your insurance would then go after them to recover the costs. My home is now not habitable, full of mold, and needs to be gutted to be repaired. Mold specialists hired by Vivint told me to seal rooms and I should not be in my home. It is making me ill but I have nowhere to go. I hope this review reaches anyone thinking of getting Vivint Solar. I do not wish my nightmare on anyone.

My parents, both in their late 70's, were scammed by Vivint salesman in Oct 2015. The "roof inspector" for Vivint said their roof was great, and they could go ahead with the install. Less than 2 years later, their roof was leaking whenever it rained. They paid $500 to have the panels removed to facilitate a new roof. When the roofing contractor was replacing the roof, he told them their roof was severely damaged for "well over 2 years, and the Vivint" inspector "would have to have seen the damage, and the panels should NEVER have been put on that roof."
He took pictures, and gave them to my mother. The roof was replaced in Sept 2017. My parents have made numerous attempts to get the panels reinstalled, however Vivint keeps telling them "soon". When they try to speak to someone in authority, they can never get a live person. They have been paying their monthly payment for about 3 months now, and also paying the electric company. All on a retired, fixed income. So much for the "guaranteed savings" that is in the contract!
When my parents requested a copy of the contract (which was never given at signing), they received an email copy that was so distorted as to be illegible. So they asked for a mailed hard copy, and received an exact copy of the emailed one. After speaking with a family friend who is a contract attorney, he recommended they stop payment for something they don't have, and to file a complaint with the registrar of contractors. We are doing both. After reading MANY reviews on multiple websites about Vivint, I recommend that anyone who has elderly parents that they really watch that they don't get taken advantage of.

And so, they started the process of applying for permits and that took a couple of months. Once the permits were clear, they came and installed, and then waited a little longer after that for the final inspection. And then, I was able to turn them on, and it was very easy. I'm satisfied with the decision to go with them. The sales rep was great, very friendly and helpful. I have hooked him up with the neighbors to do their system as well. We're the only house in the neighborhood with full electric. And we were trying to find something to help so we were looking into going solar. Also, a friend of my husband has solar panels and he was saying how his bills have gone down. The gentleman from Vivint Solar we dealt with was very responsive and talked to us anytime. And I had no problem with the beginning portion of the process. Also, for the most part, the customer service team was able to answer our questions.
My experience with Vivint has been okay. But it was time-consuming and frustrating, especially when appointments were made and people didn't show up until an hour late after the appointment time was supposed to be over. It happened with my husband twice. So he wasted a day sitting here. It was a couple hour time spared and the guy called half an hour after the appointment time was supposed to be over. And he said he would be here in half an hour. He finally showed an hour later.
We had the panels put on in September and they weren't turned on until the end of December. So, it was a long time. The inspector came out and he was really quick so I was not too sure what the holdup was. But still, I would recommend them because it's worth it and it is helping us out so far. I recommended them to my parents down in Florida who are looking at solar panels. And I told a few friends up here as well.

A Vivint Solar salesman came knocking on my door. They had looked at the roof through Google sky. They had figured out how many kilowatts it would make and that's the only reason why I went with it because he said that it wasn't going to cost me anything. It wouldn’t make my property taxes go up because I wouldn't be owning the panels and I wouldn't be renting them.
The enrollment was easy. They just did a credit check and then they came out and inspected the roof. And then submitted all that before they inspected the roof from the attics. And then, I had to wait for BGE to okay if they were going to allow the panels because he said something about they only allow so many per neighborhood. And then once that was okay, then the inspector for the county came out. And checked to make sure all the electrical was hooked up right.
The Vivint people were quick with what they were supposed to do. I would recommend them. They came out when they put the panels off. They were quick. They cleaned up and they were gone. And even the inspector that came out was fairly quick. It was waiting on BGE my gas and electric company to actually send someone to change the meter to do the solar that took the longest from September through December before they came. If it wasn't that I had read reviews I wouldn't have known that it could take that long.
But Vivint contacted me to give me an update monthly because then it was that BGE wanted all the paperwork resubmitted. And they they came out and change the meter and then two days later I got a email that go ahead and turn it on. And then it took five months between that day and actually being able to turn the switch on.
They told me my electric bill or whatever I don't make still would go to BGE to pay. But I didn't understand and I didn't ask, “What am I paying you for?" I know they had to have my Wi-Fi password and they would be monitoring if a panel is not working or something like that had stopped producing. Like a security system which I know now, they also do, I guess that's a monitoring fee but I have no clue how much that's going to be because it said that my bill would be running on and it's due by the 15th but as of this morning it still said $0 -- zero cents sold. So I'm curious as to what the monthly charge is going to be.

We are having really sunny days right now here in New Mexico. The only thing that I could tell Vivint to improve on is don't have your guy knock on my door when he's ready to do the install while smelling like cigarette smoke. And I'm not quite satisfied because it took me so long to get it turned on. And now I still haven't received the bill so I don't know whether it's advantageous or not. The panels were put in in June and I couldn't turn it on until about a month ago.
They just said that PECO was the electric company and that they were just waiting for the application to go through. And I called there and sent in emails at least five times to see what's going on and that's the answer I kept getting. They're nice and they sent me information but it's the same information. Until the last time I talked to somebody they said it's okay for me to turn on the switch in the back in the unit and I haven't heard anything since.

I looked into solar energy services to save money on electricity. Vivint Solar installed the panels in August and had it turned on by the end of December. The people on the field were outstanding. My roof has not leaked as of now since our last big rain. But the people running their office have big issues and problems as far as scheduling, coordinating and communicating. The office is in Utah and they were trying to do scheduling for people that live in California. On three occasions, they told me that they were coming to do some work and that nobody needed to be home. I told them that I had to be home because the inverter was inside the garage. And then, I had to tell them all the time what was wrong, and that it just went off. Then, they would send people out and assumed that they could do work on the place even when nobody's home.
But the biggest problem was when I told them that I wanted the inverter put on the inside of the house and they said okay. But when they came back, they kept forgetting that the inverter was on the inside of the house. So, it was a huge inconvenience. I took several days off work and waited for people that didn’t show up. But in the end, I finally got somebody that seemed to know what they were doing.
My salesman was great though. He helped and took care of some of the issues that were going on like the scheduling. So, as far as the sales and the information that were provided to me, those were outstanding. I could never talk to the same person other than my salesman because I got to know him on a personal basis. Vivint Solar needs a single customer representative for each install for at least a 12-month period because I paid them $27,000.They should have a one-on-one person that does the scheduling with individual teams that do the installation in the field rather than having several different departments across the United States.

I've seen others who had gone solar around town and I was curious so I called a couple of companies. I got specifics on their deals but I didn't think it was something I was interested in. Then my brother had Vivint Solar do the installation on his house and I had a few more questions for him. It sounded like a better deal than the first time I had looked. I got the phone number of the salesman my brother dealt with. I called him up and he answered all my questions. That experience was great and very easy. He was a super nice guy and he came out to my house. We sat down a couple times and went over all the details.
The sales process and the installation process were very simple but the approval process was disturbing. That may be more of my utility and NYSERDA though. That aside, the emails I've received from Vivint were very explanatory, simple to follow and not bothersome. I also got a couple of customer service calls asking how things were going and those were all positive. My system hasn't been turned on for a month yet but the experience has been good so far. Aside from the wait and the six months it took from the initial call to actually turning the system on, everything was easy.

Going solar would help the environment and the monthly payment would be more steady, rather than being $180 for the summer ‘cause it’s so hot and get down all over the place. With Vivint Solar's offer, we don’t have to pay for the panel themselves either. It was free and that was really the only reason we did it. It sounded like a good deal and I've been very satisfied with our decision.
Getting all the permits in the county was a giant pain in the butt and waiting on PNM to do anything was like pulling teeth. The process took eight months from the time the very first person came to our house to the time they actually turned the solar panels on. But if you're patient with it, it's worth it. Since we got the panels turned on, everything has been going real smoothly.
I was happy with their customer service too. You can call and get an actual human being to talk to you rather than a recording telling you they would call back 30 minutes later. Everyone has also been very friendly, super helpful and knowledgeable about what they’re doing. Everything was quick and they kept us in the know about everything. If it’s possible for people get solar for their houses to help out the environment and reduce the coal that we burn, Vivint Solar's offer is a solid thing and if people can get hooked up with the same plan as ours, everybody should do it.

Vivint Solar's sales guy was convincing. He was great. The enrollment went very well, but the installation took forever. We had it in the beginning of August and we were turned on in December. My husband did a Google search and read the reviews, and the number one complaint from people was it took so long. I would not recommend Vivint because of that. The county had been out and had signed off on it months before. Vivint Solar kept saying that it was their internal protocol and that was what I was most frustrated about.
They were good about at least calling me monthly to tell me that it wasn't done yet. I would get a follow up email. They explained that there was a delay and told me to contact them if I had any other questions. They were as communicative as they could in that respect, but I never got a straight answer as to what the hold up was and that was really frustrating. The only other thing was when they did the CAD drawing, they didn't take into account the number of feet that the firefighters needed on the roof which was the code. The day that they were installing the solar panels, the guy said they couldn't do it. So they had to go back and do another drawing. Knowing the code of the county and recognizing that the roof had to have space for firefighters were something that should have been taken into consideration initially.

The whole installation of Vivint Solar took a bit long and I don't know if I had the proper size installed. Going off of the records from year to date last year, it seems that I used an average of around 900 kilowatt per week. I don't know if this system will be able to do that because if I'm not mistaken this system was only calculated roughly just over 700 kilowatt. It's just something that we'll have to figure out once I'm getting closer to the summer. I hope they calculated it carefully.
Vivint contacted third party contractors to do different jobs and that just kept offsetting everything back and that’s what I was not happy with. I was a bit upset with the installation part. But the sales part wasn’t an issue. If Vivint would have their own installers on everything I think it would have been perfect. The only thing Vivint installed are the panels. Everything else like the boxes, the wiring in the house, if it needs to be updated or changed it's all third party and that setbacks everything. One just have to be ready to expect at least six months from point A to point B, from start to finish. But other than that I'm happy with Vivint Solar and I would recommend it in a heartbeat

Very interesting. 3 months later now they make the brackets needed to install panels on the other half of my house. What's more interesting is the second account cost more than the original account. My house is 12 years old. I just cannot believe that Vivint did not make the brackets required to install all panels on my home. Why once you do as you put it make the brackets it cost me more to have the solar. Yes they made it two separate accounts charging more for the second one. I will be doing some research to see if this is some type of scam.

I’ve had people who called for solar and stuff. I was talking to my son and his fiancée, and she said they got solar. She told me how much and how it was, and how they did it. So then, I asked her for the information. She sent me the number and I took it from there. I called Vivint Solar and started doing it for us. I wanted my electric bill to go down eventually. I was sick of paying high electric bills. I talked to someone named Jake. He did a lot of the work in the beginning and he was really good. Everybody whom I dealt with was really good. Their tech put this white thing on there and set it up. He said we had to have it for our thing to work. But they didn’t put that on when they did the meter. So, he came back because I called. He was nice. He just didn’t come in, he checked everything. He looked to make sure everything was all right and set up.
Getting it set up took time though. They had to get the permit and they ended up paying for the breaker because I had a different type so they put a new breaker in. I started towards the end of July, and they started putting the panels on by the time fall came. Then they came in December and they got the okay. Their inspector and the electrical inspector had to come here and had to make sure everything was all set with the meter. He filled the paper and approved it right away.
I got a $2.08 bill from the solar because we’re not producing much solar right now. We had a couple of sunny days, but I am not going to see anything until the winter is over. Around April when we start getting some sunny days, I’ll start getting more solar energy and then my electric bill will start going down. Overall, everything ran pretty good with Vivint Solar. Everybody worked and did what they were supposed to do. They answered all my questions. I keep thinking about giving their number to my next door neighbor. I’ll get Vivint Solar's number out to a couple more people.

Not all of the problem was with Vivint Solar though as some of it was with our electric company. I’m satisfied with my decision to go solar, but I'm not very satisfied with Vivint Solar. They made mistakes with their installation big time. It caused a lot of damage to the outside and to the inside of my house. They fixed the outside but they didn’t do a very good job on the inside. They were supposed to send someone out for that, but so far, no one has showed up. The people at Vivint Solar have always been courteous, but I'd tell a friend to check out their options.

From the very beginning we had problems. Looking back I should have realized how unorganized Vivint Solar is. My salesperson, Levy, was very nice but nothing has gone right. Few months ago I was told my system was OFFLINE FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. What's this now? I was told we would be getting a credit and instead was charged over $800. I'm still trying to talk to a supervisor to resolve this issue. Unless they can make things right I would say don't use their service. I will provide an update once someone calls me back.

When the salesman from Vivint Solar came, I got a little bit of information and we decided to pull the trigger. I've been interested in it for a while and I just did not know what directions to go. Enrollment was fine, but the only tough part was finding someone to redo the roof. The contractor that they normally use fell through and I had to go find my own. But, other than that, it has been good. When I talked to the gentleman from customer service on the phone a couple of times, it went fine. The gentleman who came to my house was also pleasant. I just got it turned on in January, so billing does not start until next month yet.

Took 9 months to install and set up 12 solar panels on my house (I built my entire house in 5 months just for comparison). Then installed the panels in the wrong section of the roof (missing the specified area by over 20 feet), then proceeded to overcharge me monthly for an entire year equaling over $400, and when all of these mistakes were brought to their attention I was told we would have to look into it. That was 4 weeks ago and I have been called 8 times asking what has been discovered from them "looking into it" just to be told the person is not in the office or we will have to call you back. Their bill pay system is not user friendly and pain to manage or pay anything.

Going solar has been awesome. We've been wanting it except for everywhere else, we had to pay for it. This is all Vivint Solar's equipment, and we haven't paid a dime which is good for us. The price for kilowatt is also much cheaper than Edison. Vivint Solar came and took down all the information that day, then they sent someone a day or two later. They had to get up on the roof, pick the measurements, and figure out how many kilowatts we were using and how many panels would we need. They came a few days later once they got that all set and installed the panels.
However, starting it up was a fiasco. It took us three months. Something wasn't working right so they had to come back out and repair or replace it. Then they sent everything to Edison and Edison wasn't the fastest group because the more people that are on solar, they're not getting their money. The solar guys took some information off the thing that's on the outside of the garage, but either they wrote down a wrong number or somebody typed it in wrong. When the information went to Edison, it didn't concur with what it should have been. We had to wait another few weeks until Vivint Solar got the information to Edison. And then Edison finally gave their okay but we didn't start up until 12/23. That's when we turned it on. They were here in September originally.
The customer service was pretty good. They were sending us emails and giving us updates. If my husband sent them an email they responded the next day. It wasn't instantaneous but a lot of times my husband did that stuff late at night, so he wouldn't get the response until the next day. The communication was fine, but three months was a little too long. They originally told us October, November at the latest. That was when my husband started calling, so Vivint Solar sped things up somehow. We have not any other problems since it's been working. They try their best. They're willing to work with you and communicate with you. In fact the guy was just out here again yesterday and checking the system over. They're a new company and once they're evolved, they'll be much better in the future.
We appreciate you choosing to go solar with us Helen. We are sorry for the time that it took to get your system up and running. We look forward to saving money for you and going green.

We’ve been looking into solar for several years. But most of the solar companies that came by, there was always a gimmick and didn’t really sound like a good deal until the guys from Vivint Solar came by. They just installed the solar panels, but so far, it’s been a great experience. The installation team was quick and they kept their area clean. From when we started, they said it would be about eight weeks which is coming in about right. Probably by the end of the month, everything will be up and running. They’ve been on the number. Everybody I’ve met have been very professional and very nice. I’ve already been recommending Vivint Solar to everybody. Most are just waiting to see how mine turns out and then I’ll get three or four customers for them.

Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy. It took a lot longer than I expected to actually get the system installed and up and running, though. It took almost a whole year. They said, at first, that there was a line issue and it took a long time for them to get out and install it. Once it was installed, it took a long time for the utility company to go through its approval process. The actual installation went very well, though. They were polite and were here on time and they installed it very quickly. They cleaned up everything too. It was a good experience.
The customer service, so far, has been good. They called and kept me up to date on any issues. They're very proactive. Their website is easy to use but when I use it, it doesn't load the information. If I wanted to know the power of production for the day, it rarely ever loads it. I find that to be a little annoying. But when I need the bill, I can find that pretty easy. Other than that, they've been very professional and helpful. I have already recommended them to two friends.

It took a little long for us to get started with Vivint Solar because we've had it certified and the paperwork didn't get correctly registered. In one month it would have been two years. But the people working for Vivint Solar were nice and the process was easy. Every time I call they are always very friendly and will try to get me an answer. I was just a little frustrated with how long it took and how many calls it took to try to figure out what's going on but I would still recommend it. I would explain to a friend it's like switching your electric company but they charge low. They're using your real estate on your house. You didn't have to pay for the panels but they didn't have to pay for the real estate so kind of a win-win.

Vivint Solar came to the house and put the panels on. They told me that the town was going to come and inspect it, Grid was going to come and inspect it and then it was going to get turned on. However, I kept getting emails saying that I was still up for Vivint Solar's approval, that they were still approving me while I was already beyond the approval stage. And we've had some power issues, too.
Other than that, it seems to have been working out, and I’ve had a great experience. I got a bill last month for $36 from Vivint Solar but I also got a bill from National Grid for $84. I would hope with the efficiency that my house is giving Vivint Solar, I should be reaping some benefits dollar and cent-wise. My wife and I like Vivint Solar. I have Vivint Security System and several of my neighbors have them getting the Vivint Solar installed. I thought I couldn't have solar because I have a reverse mortgage on my house. I didn't know how all of this process work but then I found out I could have the solar since I don't own it. I've always felt that it was really important to do everything possible for the environment. And so when I found from my neighbors that I could get the solar I thought it was the right thing to do.
And things worked out just fine. All the people who contacted me were very courteous and very nice. The installation team were also impeccable. They came when they said they would and they just went through the process. But the process was really long. The one thing I did feel was I didn't get enough information about how long the process is going to take. I didn't know about all of the city approval and things like that, that would take place. So when I was contacted in the early summer it took until November to get it going. And I would like to have known more details about the process. So I would recommend to Vivint that they have their people go through the process, give more details and more of an idea of the time frame and of what to expect and when.
But I'm glad I did it. After all the preparation my Vivint Solar system just started working and so far, so good. My bill has lessen but then again a lot of people I know who have Vivint Solar, one of their complaints is that every year they got a huge bill from the city and nobody understands that. It's like $300 or $400 and I don't even know that this was going to happen. I haven't gotten one yet and it will be a while before I do but that's something I don't understand so that should be explained by the people who are installing the solar.
Also before I could complete everything I was supposed to send in some information and they sent it to me online and I couldn't open it so I actually ended up talking to somebody and sending my information by mail. That was back in July and I am still getting notices everyday saying that I haven't sent back that paperwork and I would like to have those go away. But I would still recommend Vivint Solar to friends. I've explained it with little glitches. I would tell them that it's a really good thing. That if I were younger I would want to own the panels but since I'm not Vivint is really a good alternative. And I would tell people interested my own experience.

My house is all electric and I have no other source of energy, so my electric bill is out of control, especially in the winter time. The Vivint salesman that I ran into was very polite and he knew what he was talking about. Enrolling was fairly easy. Everything was done on the tablet, and he explained everything to me. However, I told him I needed my electrical panel to be upgraded, which was one of my plans, and he told me not to touch it and that he'd take care of that, which they didn't. He also told me he'd give $100 towards the first bill, which I never saw either. I'm a little disappointed because he wanted me to recommend a bunch of people, which I'm willing to do. But I don't want to send him over to people and tell them something that they're not going to get either. Other than that, the installation was beautiful. The installers were professional, fast and clean. It looks good, everything is neat and I can barely see it. I'm very happy with all that so far.

Everything is very costly these days. Anytime I can get a discount or a bargain from something that comes naturally, that’s a beautiful thing. Though I didn’t know going solar was going to take as long as it did, it was okay. Vivint Solar told me about the big gap in between the time that everything was set up to the time it was turned on. Some people don’t tell you. They just let you wait. The only thing was that when Vivint Solar came out and said that I could turn it on, I followed what they said and it didn’t work. I called and they came right out. It was something somebody had plugged in something backwards and the technician found it right away.
Everybody was knowledgeable. That means a lot because when you find out somebody doesn’t know what they’re doing, then you’d be apprehensive about what you’re taking. From the start, I didn’t know anything about solar. I only knew what they told me. If they didn’t know a lot about it, then I got a problem. But they did, and they were very courteous in doing it. That was a plus.My biggest thing was that it was a hotter day when they came. Power was off, and I had no air. But I just sat in the house and kept very still. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. I would tell anybody to do Vivint Solar and I would tell them what to expect. I had a very good experience and everything went well. It went better than what I expected because when I found that they were going to do my electric, I got in touch with them about upgrading the electric even more. I was able to pay them the difference and it was done.

We've been looking around at different companies then Vivint Solar's rep knocked on our door. Their presentation was well-done and the figures were better than some of the other companies we looked at. There was no out of pocket and they were willing to put a slightly larger system on, which meant that although it was a bigger upfront cost, it would pay for itself sooner. Also, I had a friend that had gone with them and had a good experience, as well as another friend that had gone with one of the other companies we were looking at and did not have a good experience. Vivint promised a quicker turnaround, too, as far as the installation was concerned. That didn’t necessarily happen exactly the way that they said, but they were making it happen.
Initially, I was very hesitant to listen to them partially because we don’t generally respond to things in the door. It was not a great time so I told them that they needed to come back at a different time and they were willing to make an appointment. Then, two brothers came out. One had been doing it for about a year and half, while the other one was new and trying to work with the other one to put it forward. They showed us how the systems works and how much energy it produces with about a year and four months of track record of one house that was comparable to ours. We told them we'd think about it and they didn’t promise us anything except that they would look at what was possible at our house.
Then another person called me and they also came out and did a site survey. A couple of weeks later, we heard by email that they were doing permitting which seemed to go okay except that we're in an incorporated part of the county and the county wanted to verify the gauge wire for our service because of what they saw in the site survey. They couldn’t do that and that was a discrepancy as far as they were concerned on whether or not we could have a subpanel, which we have in our garage. I work on the electrical trade and the county was wrong. But Vivint was willing to work with us on that and they upgraded our panel to alleviate that problem with the county. That was truly a good show of good faith on their part and also made it easier for the installers. That took about six weeks but it was a normal part of their flow.
In that time, I heard from their inspector twice and he was willing to talk to me about what needed to happen and why. I was able to understand what he was talking about, too, so we had a good rapport there. I also talked a few times to their electrician, the one that did the work. He was very good to work with as well. Then I didn't hear from them while Vivint Solar corporate caught up with what the electrician and the inspector have been doing. Once that happened, I got about more three phone calls in two weeks from different people at corporate about what they were going to do. It seemed like the local end of the people really understood what was going on and were paying attention to what was happening on my end. But the corporate people were calling because of what was happening on the flow chart and they didn’t have a clue where we were.
All in all, I had six numbers call me from different places and that was hard for me to deal with because it was my work phone. If they were going to call me, they should have told me when so that I could answer it and plan, so that they didn’t end up in my work schedule. They also might want to let the people that they would be calling to know that they might be using a number or two. Perhaps they could streamline their process a bit, too, so that they could talk internally a little better and not make the customer feel like they were just a number.
Other than that, Vivint was very good to work with and quite refreshing to deal with. Their crew that put things on the house did an efficient and a quick job. They knew what they were doing and they were willing to address my concerns on the roofing as well as placement for the most part so that my wife would be happy. That was important. But the panels sat there for almost a month and a half because there was a big backlog of net meters that needed to be installed. It was right around the time that the law changed so a lot of people jumped on not just with Vivint but with other companies.
It was funny because Vivint corporate kind of caught up slowly and called me three times about it after it already happened. Then we waited a couple of weeks and we finally got all our letters and all the permits. We have the solar panels for the second month now but because we are on equal pay, we wouldn't see whether or not the numbers that we were quoted happened for almost a year. It would be about a month before we start to see if things really changed as far as our usage and the level of payment that we would get normally for the company that provides our power compared to our product unit on the roof. So it would take about six months before we'll see.
Right now, we're in winter, which is the most challenging time, and so far, it's looking like they may be able to hit the things that they had hoped they would. That makes me happy because I don’t like to be told a lie. I recognized that it would take many months to put this together and that is an investment that would last a long time. So I would tell others to make sure that they look into whether they use enough power so that having solar on their roof would be good for them.

The sales guy talked my wife into it, and I succumbed to my wife's demand. I spoke to one person and they were not nice. I'm an electrician technician, so I work with high voltage. Overall the installation of Vivint Solar was good and everything on my end out here was good. But the office was a problem in terms of the salesman telling me that it's going to be 8 to 12 weeks before I would be up and running. Then the city inspector came out with one of the Vivint Solar guys and I talked to him about a month after I had the panels put up. And I said, “How long am I going to be before I’m up and running?” He said, “Oh, you’d be up in a week. As soon as they get this in PG&E I’ll let you know.” A week went by and nothing happened. So I called again and he said, “Oh, that. That’s nothing to do with this. It’s going to be anywhere from 9 to 18 weeks.” I said, “What? You got to be kidding me.” “Well, you got a lot of people in the area.” I wasn’t happy so they sent me to someone else and he also said 9 to 23 weeks.
My head exploded and I told him my tale of woe and they put me to the head of the class and got it going. Now the only problem was I got a notation. Everything was good and fired up so I hit the switch and went on to the computer because the computer ties in what you’re producing. However I wasn’t producing anything and it went on for about a week. Finally I called them back and said, “Look. What’s going on here? I got this house here. Just got this house. It doesn’t show anything.” He said, “Well, you’re probably not really connected, right? We’ll send a guy.”
So a week later they sent the guy out. When they first installed all these panels they said, “Just flick the switch and you’ll be ready to go.” Apparently somewhere in the process, whether during inspections or something else, somebody had turned off the switch in my power box so when I fired it up that switch was off. So the guy came out and the first thing he looked at was the electrical panel. He saw that that switch was off, hit that and everything was up and running.
I got an email from Vivint saying that they’re going to email me with the bill and take the money out of my bank account automatically. I must have signed something to that because they had my checking number. I said, “I don’t really want to do it that way.” “Well, we can’t do it, blah blah blah,” and went through the whole big spiel instead of just telling me, “We’ll email you. You can just send the check to this address.” That’s all I wanted to do. Then about a week and a half later, I got another email saying, “Well, you’re all set up with your bank account to take the money out.” I had to call back to billing again and say, “What? You don’t have me down? Is this the way?” “No. We don’t have you down.”
I had a little argument with the gal in billing initially because she wanted to go through a whole tale of telling me how I can’t do it and I wanted to know what I can do. And so they switched it back over and I got a bill. Finally they made me an offer about a week and a half after arguing with them. They hit me with $112 that they applied to my bill for my inconveniences and my time on the phone. They call it goodwill so it worked fine.
One hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing within the company itself. I wanted to know what the rules are and I’ll follow them. Their workers that come out to do the work are very good but the salesmen and office people aren’t so much. I had a couple of neighbors wondering how things are going and I said, “You don’t want to do these people.” I would not recommend this to somebody else and I told them that flat out. But they try very hard and they were up-to-date with emails, sending me things and keeping me abreast.
What I found out with it is one department cannot interact with another department. So when I had a problem with one department they had to send me to another department and that department had to call me up. It wasn’t where they could weave around and say, “Okay. This is your problem.” That made it more difficult because you had to tell your story again and again. Even though they had notes you still had to tell your story again and again and then add to it each time.

We recently were in installed by Vivint Solar. We decided to go with the ownership option. We are thrilled that our fixed payment is 50% less than our highest summer bill & our tax credit amount is looking real nice! But the main reason we did the ownership option is because of the equity concept of ‘owning vs renting’ electricity. From start to finish Vivint Solar has been easy & seamless. The install looks clean & professional. They handled everything which is important to us because of our busy schedule.

My elderly dad had always wanted solar panels. We own a home together, so I allowed the Vivint guy in the door when he came around the neighborhood. We were so impressed with him that after a few days of thinking about it, I signed a 20 year contract for a power purchase agreement with Vivint. At that time, I was told that if we were to decide to sell our home in the future, the transfer would be free. TO ME, transfer meant they would move the panels. Silly me! No, transfer only means the contract can be transferred to the buyer of our home... There is a $5,590 relocation fee for moving the panels to the new home. That was misleading.
Later, my dad and I decided to move for various reasons. In selling our home, we were at ease knowing that if the new buyer did not want the panels, they could be moved with us... Turned out we had several prospective buyers, none of whom wanted the panels nor the PPA (power purchase agreement). When I had to break the news to Vivint that our panels would need to be removed because our buyer did not want them, there was one particular guy on the "work out" team that told me he didn't know when they could be removed OR how much it would cost, because it was not a priority. New business was their priority, not existing customers!
He, however, was the exception... Every other Vivint employee I've dealt with has been professional and courteous. But there seems to be no communication between departments. You have to call over and over again to get any help, if you get it at all. Finally, we were told they could not begin the process of uninstalling panels until they received a payment of $5,590. We paid. Once they received it, I still had to call three times to get them to notice they had been paid.
The next step was to put our "panel removal" on their schedule. Supposedly, it would take place within 30 days of receiving our payment. Meanwhile, our home (with panels on it) had closed, and the new owner wanted the panels gone. About 35 days later, they finally removed the panels. Our new home is only 1/2 mile from the old, so I was under the impression the panels would be reinstalled here quickly. No, the contract states that Vivint has 6 months in which to reinstall them! Meanwhile, my father soon needs to be moved into an assisted living facility and I will again have to sell this house. But with no panels on it, I can't even market it yet, because I am still under an obligation to Vivint!
We have been in this new home since June 26 and it is now Dec. 23 and we've not heard a word from Vivint as to when to expect the panels to be reinstalled. You'd think after having paid them $5,590, they would just let me break the contract and go on my way. But I am certain I m going to need a lawyer. I am heartbroken that I ever allowed my dad to talk me into solar, much more so into a PPA with Vivint.

Now another service call is needed. Costing me more in caretaker fees than I would ever pay in electricity bills during these months. No savings from Vivint. Looking into solar energy services was something I thought about but I couldn't afford to do. So when a person from Vivint Solar went over to my friend's house, my friend told him to come over here as well. He explained the system and showed me how it worked. He was very good. He even recommended some of my friends in the area if I had any questions to come over so I could explain to them what's going on. So far, the system seems to be working okay. It's just that there's a lot of shade in the backyard right now and there's not much sun. For $6 and some cents, that's no big deal. Although, I expect that I don't have to pay because there's not much sun coming in on that side right now. Overall, I would tell friends that Vivint Solar is great. As a matter of fact, my daughter asked about it and I told her to give it a try.

I recently moved and I’m going to be staying in this house for the foreseeable future. I took a solar energy course in college, and so I knew that my house was positioned perfectly for solar panels. I also get sun all the time on the roof of my house so I knew solar energy services were going to be a good deal for me. I inquired about Vivint when I saw an installation going on in the block next to me. They sent a sales guy over and the enrollment went fairly easy. I had read some reviews online and was a bit concerned since there were some good reviews and some not so great reviews, but my experience was very good. Their customer service was very professional and responsive.
The only negative in the whole process was when it took a little bit longer to get my system up and running than I anticipated. The timing could have been a bit clearer and could have been extended because of things that were out of Vivint's control. The Jersey Panel took almost 10 weeks to come for the final inspection and hook up. Even though Vivint told me it could be in a period of 4 to 14 weeks, that's a long time.

And I said, "Okay." My bills are usually high so this was going to be nice for us. The enrollment process with Vivint Solar was the easiest part. She did everything on the tablet and it was quick. It didn't take long at all so that was nice. The decision to go solar was a little long in the making but I'm glad I did it. We had it done mid-July and it just got turned on two weeks ago. Whereas my neighbor, I referred her to Vivint Solar and in two months, it was all done and complete. I emailed them and said, "When can I expect you guys to come out here to switch off the box."
And within three days, I was starting to get emails from them saying that it was hooked up and that we're now connected and we should wait. That was awfully fast. I'm assuming they came out here, did their thing and left. But it would have been nice if they knocked on the doors and said, "We changed it out. You can turn it on." My bill is usually lower now. I recommended my neighbor and I would definitely recommend Vivint Solar to a friend, and hopefully, there's no hiccups. They have really nice people that come here from the company. I had a great girl and guy that came that told me all about it. And then the guy that came and hooked it up was really nice. Solar energy service was something I was interested in and when the lady from Vivint came, it was the right timing. Vivint Solar was canvassed at my house and I was interested in their service since it's clean power, renewable and it's a good idea, so I’m very satisfied with my decision to go solar. We had an initial array put up, and I was extremely satisfied with everything. They came out a second time and said that they could increase the number of panels, which dragged on. Then, it changed some things that I wasn’t aware such as my crew update, which no one ever mentioned. So, all of a sudden, I got a bill from PG&E that I wasn’t expecting and wasn’t prepared for.
The first time, it was seamless. But the second time, it was a bit arduous going through the motions. The weather hasn’t been that great enough to notice a difference with the second set being put up and so, the outcome of it is yet to be known. Their customer service kept up on telling us the process, but the process kept lingering. It was a total of nine months before we got up and running from the day they put the panels on. The process would have been nice if it could’ve been handled more expeditiously. Nevertheless, it’s up now, and so, I’m hoping that from here on out, it’s seamless.

My son had Vivint come to his house, and he told me I should definitely look into it, which he thought was a really good thing to do and it will save me money. I wanted to know about it, so I started looking to see how many houses out there had solar panels. There seemed to be getting more and more so I thought it was something I should look into. But I didn't know how much it was going to cost me. I'm retired so I don't have a whole lot of money. I didn't know if I really wanted to go to the expense of buying something like that, but my friend told me that I didn’t have to buy the system. That’s when he had a guy from Vivint Solar come over to my house.
Getting solar takes a long time to get started. First, they come out and talk to you about it. Then if you sign up with them, it has to go into their office and be approved. They have to check you out because they don’t want to send you a bill, and I had no problem with that. But they want to take the money directly from your bank and they have to make sure that you actually do have an account with the bank. Once they get that all taken care of, they have to come out and check your house to make sure that they can actually put panels on your roof, make sure there’s nothing wrong with it and that it will hold the panels. But once I was approved, which took me a week, they came out and put my whole system on in one day, which was cool because I have 31 panels on my house. The roof looks great and not ugly at all. The panels are just there and you don’t notice them unless you look for them.
The panels do not belong to me and I’m not paying for panels at all. I'm using them but they are Vivint’s panels. But when you go solar, the rate depends on when you do it. Vivint Solar measures your electricity and I'm dialed in to 15 cents. But it stays at 15 cents and it does not go up. Plus at the time that I was approved, PG&E was charging lower that rate number. You pay so much at rate 1, so much at rate 2 then at rate 3. Rate 1 for PG&E was 11 cents per that measurement so the service just takes 11 cents. My bill for PG&E was $26.14 and it was at $200 a month before I went with Vivint. Now I get two bills but they're so much less.

Vivint said I'm now hooked up to PECO and I've always been hooked to PECO. That whole time, it wasn't turned on and I wasn't using Vivint's electricity. Vivint didn't even say it wasn't working.
Vivint reps called last week and left the message that I should turn on the system. I was told that it was time to throw the switch a week and a half ago amidst November-December already. I had no idea that there was even a switch there. There's only one switch outside, so I cut the cable, threw the switch and I hope it works. Vivint gave me a little incentive which was nice but other than that, I'm going to stop paying to PECO for their electricity. People have their own solar panels also in its development. We pay for the panels and for the electricity, we get off of them supposedly and I've never gotten any electricity off though. I don't think we're going to save that much money. The contract was in English and he translated to him everything in Spanish which everything was a lie because they’re saying that you are not removable. Then I spoke to another salesperson and it said the same thing over the phone. It's not a good selling point for your home. No one wants a lease and if you need them removed to improve your home they will charge to come out and remove them. I recently purchased a home and looked into getting solar panels. My friends had brought up that they had gotten panels from Vivint and they were happy with the difference in their bill between the local utility supplier and what they pay through Vivint. The enrolment process went great but my only complaint was the timeframe for their corporate review. I was told that the corporate review takes roughly 45 days and I was already over the two-month mark. What got me so aggravated with the situation was they were adamant about getting everything done right away. They've been in business long enough and should know what they're doing. It shouldn’t take that long if they have competent employees.
I gave them a deadline of November 15 that if I wasn't notified by my local utility company, they could come collect their equipment and I wasn't going to proceed any further with having the system activated. A week and a half before the deadline, I received a phone call from my local utility company to have the technician come out to change over the meter to a meter that was required for me to do the solar panels. When that happened, 24 hours later, I was able to activate my solar panel system. If a friend asks me about your experience with Vivint Solar, I’ll tell them to make sure that they're fully aware of everything before they proceed and get an actual set timeframe instead of the fluctuating situation that I went through.

There was a salesperson of Vivint Solar named Mike that came out and I liked him so I said I would try them. So far, Vivint Solar has been very good although, in the beginning, we had a lot of problems. But since then, they came out and put another set of panels up there and got turned on. So, I'm keeping track of it right now. Their responses to the customer have improved by a 1,000%. It was terrible at first. The first six months when I was having all these problems, I couldn’t get anybody.
I called out their office out west and I couldn’t get anybody that wanted to address the problem but in the last four or five months, they had completely done a turnabout on how they're doing with people. Now, with the new system that they put on, I get two bills from Vivint plus I get a bill from my electric company. In the beginning, my understanding was that all the money would be paid to Vivint with the exception of me be a $10 paper cost to the electric company. My three bills, one from an electric and two from Vivint, have both been around $65. I have to see what this new addition is going to do. It's crazy when they put out all this money and I'm still paying money to the electric company. But that’s what's not happening so far and it's getting better. They put me online with the second one so it will probably be to the springtime or so before I get an actual reading on it.

On the eighth day an installer from Vivint Solar came out and told me that the installers installed a dead breaker and that was the cause, he was able to fix it within thirty minutes. During this time my sales rep notified me that a new agreement had to be signed due to a slight change. After contacting customer service I was told the system would operate the same as originally designed, that is yet to be determined.
I could never get an answer to why my signature was forged and after hearing "we'll call you back" almost daily for two weeks a supervisor called me back. He said he had to contact the foreman and the foreman said that I wasn't home. The supervisor couldn't tell me how they got in the attic, discussed a damage that occurred to my ceiling, and who was shown how to shut the system off 24 hours post installment and zip tie the box. He briefly discussed a discount price for this and told me I'd hear back from him in a couple days. It has been two weeks since I was told he'd call me back and my loan agreement is still unsigned. I contacted the loan department to see if a new loan agreement has been submitted and briefly explained what has been going on. The loan department stated they would e-mail Vivint Solar and forward me a copy of the complaint. I have yet to be contacted regarded a complaint submitted by the loan company.
I was referred to this company by family and a friend both who I urged to review their contracts. My experience so far has been awful to say the least I can’t get anyone except a customer service agent to speak me who then tells me I need to speak with someone else. My trust is lost and I feel like my case has been forgotten. I am most upset that I am constantly attempting to speak with someone and not once has anyone attempted to make this right. My neighbors and family constantly ask questions regarding the solar panels from how they work to the company I used. I haven't had one good thing to say about this company and nobody is attempting to make this right. My contract remains unsigned at this point.
Hi Charlie, We apologize for the lack of communication throughout this process. I've reached out to your case manager to get some answers on your loan question. She will be sorting this out for you and providing an update.

The people from Vivint Solar came out here and told us about the whole solar panels, how they work and how it would save us money on our electricity bill. We were thinking about it before but there were programs involved like the HERO and we didn’t qualify for those. So when Vivint came, we asked them if they were with the HERO Program and they said they were not so that's when we started to get interested in their service. Their salesman answered all of our questions and signing up with them was easy. It took them 12 weeks from the enrollment to when the panels were up and running which was around the timeframe that they gave us. I liked that they were keeping us up-to-date, thru phone and email, with everything that was going on and as the process went out. We received our first bill and it was a big difference than what we were paying with our electricity bill. We're having a great experience and we definitely made the right choice.

Working with Vivint Solar has been a very prolonged process. My system has only been connected for a month because it took them about six months to do everything. I like the prices they offered after comparing to PG&E. They put the panels up as soon as I agree, which was in May, but it didn’t get connected until October. They sent an email saying that they're waiting for a permit. When the permits were okay, I asked them to come to check the solar panels, but it took a month before they came out.
Hi Maria, We apologize for how long it took to get your system turned on, but we appreciate your patience throughout this process. If you need any further assistance, please call us at 1-877-404-4129 Opt. 6. Thank you for your feedback!

I would give this company a zero stars if it would have allowed me to. I am extremely upset and would NEVER recommend this company. I have ACTIVE leak in my home and have been back and forth with customer service to schedule an installation and reinstallation so that my roof can be replaced. I have sent over written in request of this for 3 weeks. Every time I call, customer service tells me they will call me back.
I have been waiting to receive a call back for three weeks and nothing! When I call, they tell me they sent over a request to their committee a week ago (November 21, 2017) yet I have emails showing I sent them this request on (November 7, 2017). Where did the two weeks difference go? Every time I call customer service, they tell me to give them a few days and they would call me back. I have never received a call from them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company! Vivint Solar should act responsibly and an active leak is causing me mold and health issues! Please reconsider before choosing them as your solar panel company.

Had my system for past 4 years and every month I had issued with my panels… They were not reading or out the company would come out and say they fixed it… No would happen again. Now had people on my roof with no call that they would be here to find out it is not my panel. It is the box on side of house that was fried. They fixed it but box in my house wrong 3 weeks go by no one comes back... Are you serious and you want money? This is by far the worst company ever. Looking to file a lawsuit. I want out of my contract someone please help. Not even worth a star. Use Trinity.

Vivint Solar is a much larger company which I liked. Their rep presented us with a bid and seemed legit. However, the price was a little expensive. Then, he made a phone call to his supervisor and the price dropped. During the enrollment process, they would call and tell me what was going on and five minutes later, I had an email about what we just talked about on the phone. It was cool and I liked that. But there was a delay from when they installed it to when we could actually turn it on because we had to wait for the power company and the inspectors to come out. They told me it could be up to a month and I said okay, but they called every 10 days just to let me know where they were at. They were also professional and answered my questions. I was really impressed and have recommended them to others.

I got solar because the salesman told us we would save 30 percent. Totally misleading and deceptive. Not only are we not saving money on electricity but with Vivint Solar we're paying more. And the fact that you're stuck with these panels and this company for 20 long, expensive years is horrifying. Wish I never went with this company. Trust me, buy them yourself. Do not lease. You will regret it!
Hi Christine, We're sorry that you're not seeing the savings you were expecting! I've reached out to our customer service team to look into this for you. They will be contacting you with an update. Thanks!

I looked into solar energy and some people were satisfied more with Vivint Solar than the other one that were coming around. So, I went with them and I'm very satisfied with my decision. Enrollment was good, but the other part took the longest. Their customer service reps were awesome. They kept us updated with the way the process goes. Installation took a little longer than expected because somebody from their team called in sick, but it was good. I've had the solar panels for about four months now but they’ve been active for less than one. So far, my experience with Vivint Solar has been good.

I checked into solar for my home and the costs were crazy. Then, Vivint Solar's salesmen was doing a door-to-door and he came to our house and he was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions with no hesitation. I've recommended him to other people I have met who have been approached by other solar companies. He told us that they can do the whole thing for free. I was very astounded and very skeptical but it piqued my interest and I got the system.
The enrolment couldn't have been any easier. Vivint Solar did what they said they were going to do. They also helped me in getting a new roof since mine was 30 years old and hasn't been redone. If I have a question, their reps come and they're very happy to answer. If they don’t find it right away, I'll get a call in an hour with the answer to my problem. The system has been good so far. It cost me nothing and all I have to do is pay for electricity the unit produces at 15.5 cents per kilowatt. My bill last month was $30 from Edison, which was 40% less than my normal bill. Unfortunately, my system can only produce 75% of the power that we use because of our roof.

I've been thinking about getting solar energy for years but I thought I couldn't afford it. Vivint's rep, Jessie, knocked on my door and helped me make that decision at the beginning of summer. It was an easy process although there were lots of followups which is an unusual thing for these days. But everybody, from the customer service to the installers, was friendly and helpful. I didn’t have any questions because they kept explaining it to me every time I called. My service got turned on a week ago and it took that long since most of it was waiting for BGE. Also, the county had to give its blessing first. I've had Vivint for about a week and so far so good.

We were trying to save the environment and save a little money so we opted for solar energy services. The Vivint Solar sales rep was very professional, knew exactly his product and what he was doing. Enrolling with them went smooth. Installation started in July and everything was fine.

One of the field reps, Mike, came to my house and introduced me to Vivint Solar. Enrolling with them was easy enough and I did my house and my rental. Vivint just turned on the power on the house; however, there seems to be an issue on my rental, and I keep getting texts about signing an email and I can’t do that. The communication was not good, and I feel like I’m not getting the service I’m expecting. They could have been a bit straightforward and clearer about the process, but things were not explained to me at the time I signed up. I was not too happy about it, and now I’m calling to get the answers to questions that I have.
They said that if I needed to take the panels off, I could, and then they turned around and said “Well, if you take them off, that’s going to cost you $5,000,” so there was a confusion. Also, I wanted a paper contract and it took me forever to get one. Little things like those bothered me. The system is set up for about 25 years and if I wanted to discontinue, I have to pay for the disconnection of the unit off of my house. That was not said to me and I found that out after the fact. I would’ve hesitated a bit longer about that. If I sell my house and the new people want to take that down, that’s an expense for them to take off the solar panels, which isn’t right. But overall, Vivint did what I asked them to do and they were very professional and courteous. So, as far as all the people at Vivint went, it was good.

I had a Vivint Solar salesperson come to the door several years ago. He was quite persistent. I made him do a spreadsheet and figure out my savings before I signed on. The first sets of panels were fine and everything went well. This past June, another salesperson came and showed me that I could save more if I added some more panels, which they installed.
However, they unplugged the panels, both the ones that had been working and the new ones. They had to go through approval by PG&E and the city. It was during the summer when it was the hottest time of the year. It was 100 in California. All that time from the end of June until October, my solar panels were not plugged in and therefore were not working. So my annum charges from PG&E were $6,000.
The way I found about this was they called and said, “Our system is not communicating with your system.” So then I called PG&E and found out that they hadn't received any solar information from Vivint or from me for several months. In addition to that, I found out that the paperwork for the second set of panels had been returned to Vivint because they needed to make some adjustments to it. I was never notified of that. After that, I had been calling Vivint to find out and Vivint sent me an email asking me to do things to the system but I wasn't a tech when it comes to solar. So I've had two guys come out and they were quite polite.
I'm hoping for a reimbursement and I'm not happy right now. I'm going to have to go deposit money for my credit union into my regular bank account and then continue to pay. I only asked them for a $400 reimbursement and that was over a month and a half ago. Initially, I thought a little over $100 a month would probably be fair. But because I didn’t get an action from customer service and it's taken them all this time, they should pay my bills for the last four months. They still haven't gotten back to me and I keep calling them weekly. I just got off the phone with PG&E to figure out. If I send them $3,000 now, my payments for a year would be would be $242,000. So because of calling customer service and getting bounced around, I finally sat down and wrote a letter to the president of the company. I put in my letter that I would not be recommending Vivint to anybody. My experience with them has been unsatisfactory.
Hi Dawn, We're so sorry that the new system interfered with your original system production. We'd like to get this taken care of. Can you please message us your address, so we can work with the proper department to get this fixed for you? Thank you!
