My neighbor had Vivint Solar and I looked into it to save money. The rep was a very knowledgeable young man. We've been playing with this installation for a couple of months and it just went online recently.

Jersey Central Power & Light was our electric provider. A Vivint Solar representative came to the house and said it's through Jersey Central Power & Light that we could hook up with. Our home had been surveyed as being a good candidate for solar. It seemed like a good way to lower our bill and do something a little good to the planet along the way. It seemed like a win-win all the way around. They pretty much did everything they can in enrolling me. There's nothing hard about it and that's what I wanted. I didn't want to be involved with having a battery banking my garage. By staying on the grid, it’s sort of a no-brainer. Everything is just like what it was before, except we don't pay quite as much.
When we first started, though, just half our house was covered. We had that for a little bit over a year and another representative came to see us. He said that he could increase our amount of panels and that seems to have really helped a lot now. It's done pretty much what they said. It's lowered our bill and that's a good thing. Today, everything keeps going up and every little bit helps. Also, it can't hurt to reduce emissions a little bit. The only thing that was a little bit annoying is that when we had the additional panels added, it took an awfully long time for them to get here and give us the final permission to hook it up. Other than that, it's all pretty much without a hitch. This has been a nice company to work with. It's a company with a lot of young people. I'm happy to see something that's a new technology and providing opportunity for young people coming into the workforce. I would recommend this company. They’ve certainly been helpful.

I would give a rating as "zero" but it will not allow me to do that. I have been having a problem with Vivint solar panels since August 2017. I have called customer service numerous times and was constantly told somebody will call me back, no one ever called me back. Finally last month I was in touch with the supervisor. She apologized and informed me after researching my file it was the company's mistake, but the problem is still not solved and no one has called me back to tell me what is going on. 90% of my panels are not working and I am being billed full price, I was told by customer service they cannot fix my billing until they fix the problem. 4 months and I'm still waiting for a phone call from Vivint on when they will send a technician to fix the problem. I would never recommend this company.
Hi Roberta, We're sorry it is taking longer than expected to fix your panels! I've looked into your account and see that you've been in contact with one of our agents to get this resolved. He is just getting confirmation that our local office has the necessary parts to schedule your appointment. You will be hearing from him this week. If you have any other issues or concerns, please feel free to message us here. Thanks!

We've had Vivint Solar for about three years. We went with them thinking if we had this over they would help reduce our electric bill. We started out with 22 panels and then last June, they decided we needed eight more panels. It turned into a catastrophe because once they got the panels on, everything quit working for almost four months. It just wasn't producing so we ended up with Edison bills that were high. It took a while but we got people from Vivint out here. There was something in the electrical box that got disconnected. I had complained to them for quite a while because of our electric bill.
The guy that came out said that the unit was not working and that the original panel that they had put in was not sending the info to Edison's. On 9/28 I called Vivint and they advised me that this is a top priority on the electrical but they couldn't get out here until the 21st of the next month. It took about two weeks to get them out here just to get the electrical working.
This has happened to us twice. We had a problem with the panels that we didn't know about back in 2016. Once they got it fixed, we had a minus $235 bill which meant we didn't have to pay anything. When the new panels were put on in June, they weren't working for June, July, August, and September. We had some pretty high electric bills. Finally, on September 20th it showed it was minus $200.45 which meant we didn't owe anything for a while.
Everything's working now but we also kept getting emails from Vivint and we're still getting them citing something that we don't have to do. Other than that, I'm happy with the system right now and everything seems to be working. I hope it continues working so we can stabilize and get our electric bill down. We recommended Vivint Solar to one of our neighbors and they had panels put on. This was at the time that we didn't know that our panels weren't working. They do their best at Vivint to try to stay on top of the problems that come out but not everything's perfect. I understand that though.
HI James, We're sorry that it took so long to get your panels working. If you have any other issues arise, please feel free to contact us here and we'd be happy to help. We are constantly trying to improve and your feedback helps us do that!

We had solar panels way back in the 1970s that provided hot water and saved a lot of money. It was good for the environment too so it was a win-win. Unfortunately, they rusted out. Our youngest son has Vivint and so does a friend of ours. We started the process with them in June but it took forever for Vivint Solar, the local electric company and local town to get their act together and approve it. The solar panels were installed in July and we weren't happy with how long it took. They kept saying it would only be 40 days but it turned out to be two months. That's not my definition of 40 days but the delay could have been caused by the township or the local electric company. The solar panels weren't turned on until last Friday either.
The people who did the installation were great though. We're 95% happy but it's the other 5% that's annoying me. I have no way to tell if it's generating electricity and if there was a meter to check if it was, I haven't found it yet. I called Vivint Solar a week ago and they said to give it a week. But I think they will follow-up when I call them and ask them to do something about it. They're very nice people and they know what they're doing.

We already had panels. But during that timeframe when we agreed to do the panels, we went to The Big E which is like a country theatre here in Massachusetts. We’re in Connecticut and we bought a hot tub, so that wasn’t included in the original estimates. So Vivint's latest install was just an add-on for more solar panels because we use more electricity than what was first estimated.
The employees were really good. They know what they’re talking about and they do their good work. The guys who installed it were excellent. I have no complaints with them. The first time install went fine. We’re happy with everything that went on. However, the duration that it took for them to turn on the second set of panels was ridiculously long. The second time around, people sat on their butts for many months and they just turned it on three weeks ago. Because we already got panels up there, they didn’t really care about us anymore. They just went to do this when they felt like it. I also don’t like that I now have two separate accounts from the same company because they’re two different types of solar panels. They're going to bill me on the same day which is the 20th of the month for two separate accounts and the money comes out of my checking account.

Vivint Solar had an agent named Adam visiting the houses in my neighborhood and he came in and we had a talk. Going solar is always a win-win situation. It’s good for the environment and I could save some money. When Vivint came and talked about it, I had no other thought than cost. And then I thought, "Why not try it?" So, I enrolled, which was an easy process, and their reps took care of it. I only had to sign some papers and they did everything with the county, my utility company, etc. The only bad thing was going on my roof.
We started running it at October 18th. I haven't got the first production yet since it is in the beginning but so far, they did so good with the installation and everything gone through. It took a little time to get the permission because of the paperwork. Everything was professionally done. And their customer service has been good. They always help and answer my questions. If any friends come here, I really recommend it because there is nothing to lose.

On Monday or Tuesday, the week of November 12, one of Vivint Solar's sales representatives stopped by to offer a solar package. I was busy at the time so I indicated to him that he could call back and schedule an appointment for Thursday or Friday. He never called. On Thursday, November 16, I discovered that Vivint Solar had run a credit check on me, without my permission. I emailed him that afternoon to inquire as to why he had run a credit check on me. No answer. On the morning of Saturday, November 18, I emailed him again. No answer. At approximately 10:00 that same morning he showed up at my home without an appointment.
When I asked him why he had run a credit check on me he indicated that he had to verify my address. He was standing at my front door. And, the address is clearly provided on the front of the house. He then stated that there had been a Vivint Solar software update which caused the hard credit check to be run on me. I asked him to leave. He hopped in his fancy new Mercedes and took off.

I've heard of Vivint as producers of other things, but their salesman showed up at the door, and had a very clear statement of what he was selling. I was actually looking for that kind of solar, so we decided to go with them since they fulfilled a prior set of conditions, one of which was that I wouldn’t pay any money. My husband was determined that spending money on equipment that will be obsolete in less than five years is stupid. So, we waited for a company to do what Vivint did, which is have it be part of the utility.
On the other hand, their customer service reps were stiff like a lot of them were new. They followed the book, which I find personally annoying because it doesn’t have anything to do with how good a job they’re doing. Other than that, I'm really glad I went with Vivint. They did a great installation, and I love them. I recommended them to a friend and spoke to several of my neighbors. They saw the signs go up and they all asked how it is, so Vivint needs to send somebody else to this neighborhood around the turn of the year which should be right for doing the installation again soon.

I thought that I can save money with solar energy and wanted to try it. So, I enrolled with Vivint Solar and, they’ve done a good job. Their customer service has also been good. But I have yet to see the results. They put it in over a month ago, but they just got it turned on a couple of days ago because they had to wait for the inspector. So far, I'm satisfied, and would recommend them.

I am a Vivint customer since 2014. My panels were installed over 2 roof layers. I had no complaints for 6 months. Then my den leaked. My roof had to be replaced in 2015. Supposedly by no fault of Vivint Solar. I disagree. I pay $500 to have them removed in May 2015. I had a total ripoff of my roof plywood and all. Time to call Vivint to have panels reinstalled. It took 6 months for them to find hardware to do the reinstall. January 2016 panels up and running. April 2016 leak in dining room ceiling. Vivint repairs interior and supposedly repairs install where leak was coming from.
Fast forward to 2017 multiple leaks in my dining room. Sheetrock crumbling water on light fixture, table, floor. Vivint employee states crappy install. Everything needs to come off and leak needs to be found. My 2 year old roof damaged. My interior home damaged. Vivint solution let them do the repairs. Lol. The same company who wrecked my home by hiring clueless installers or they would pay the cost of about a band aid if I do the repairs. I am still litigating with them. Not happy with either of those offers. Stay tuned...
Hi Lorraine, We're so sorry to hear about the damage to your home. I've looked into your case and see that the panel removal is scheduled within the next few weeks. We will have a better understanding of the damage once the panels are removed. I also saw that we have brought in an outside contractor to fix the damage. You mentioned your concern about Vivint Solar employees doing the repairs, so I wanted to clarify that a third party contractor will be repairing the damage. We apologize if this wasn't properly communicated to you! If additional clarification is needed, we can have your case manager reach out to you.

One of my neighbors was installing Vivint Solar and so I inquired. I've had the original panels for two seasons and 14 more was added this past summer. They were very cooperative. Everything I've asked, they've done. When they added the second set of panels, there were a bunch of boxes showing from the street, and they were good enough to install them at the back of the house, which was great. We're very happy with how it turned out.

The Vivint Solar rep, Cole, was very personable. He answered our questions truthfully and honestly. I was concerned that it was ¢11 per kilowatt when we first signed up and now, it's ¢12 per kilowatts. I was like,"Hmm, it's already gone up tiny". We had looked into another system and have them come to do a comparison. Their product itself seemed to be a bit stronger but, the rep did more bashing of Vivint than actually selling his product. When I was talking to him he said, “You’ll be paying a $100 plus the kilowatt hours". And I'm like, “What?" He goes, “Yes, you'll be renting the system." I called Cole back and I said, “Are there any fees, any hidden charges anything that we have to worry about?" And he was like, “No, you just pay for what you make." And I was like, “Okay, I think I just made my decision. When can you install?”
However, I don't like that you have to do autopay. I prefer to just pay monthly because I'm old-fashioned and I'll forget when I do autopay. But everybody that I worked with during the whole process has been really great. The installers were fantastic and every time I talked to people at customer service or whenever I had to deal with anybody, they've always been polite and very helpful. Vivint's a really great company.

There were two individuals going from house to house dropping off cards. I took one of the cards and I've read about Vivint Solar. They had a salesman come see me the next day. Tony, was a really good salesman, very knowledgeable and a super good guy. We talked at length about the services and no pressure at all. I've always been interested in solar energy so when he came by and he told me all about it as well as the benefits so the tax breaks that you get everything, I decided to go with it. The installers were very professional, very good and on time the two times they had to come out.
The only downside is that the first design of the system was undersized. They caught that before they had turned anything on so they came back and they redesigned the system and had to put a few more panels on the roof. Luckily, there was enough room. The cost was a little higher than I initially agreed to. But, it was not outside of doable. The salesman was really sorry about how they messed up the first time on the survey. They sent me a check for $500 to cover the first couple of month’s payment just for the inconvenience that we had to go through. And I'm satisfied with that.
The website is easy to navigate and it shows the solar production today, the last seven days and the month to date. It also shows the documents that we had signed and filled out. I've already recommended Vivint Solar to a couple of friends. They're very interested and I have Tony talked to them already. But, they want to see my first bill and see what it does for me before they make a commitment. Overall, Vivint Solar has given outstanding support and it is a top quality company. I'm looking forward to working with Vivint.

A man came to my door talking about solar. He said his spiel. When he said that he needed to run a credit check on me, I said, “No”. That happened in February 2017. I got a notice from them in October! They said, “You do not qualify”. I didn't ask them for anything! I checked my credit report and sure enough...they ran a credit report on me...6 months later! I can't believe this. I called to talk to a manager and she said that it would be taken care of. Damn you, Vivint Solar!

I worked in a town that Vivint Solar originated in up here in the North of Woburn and then I saw their solar panels all over everybody's roof. I quite frankly couldn't figure out how all these people could afford those, which I knew cost a thousand dollars. So, when Vivint Solar came to my town and knocked on my door, I was the first one in my neighborhood because I had a head start and know well about it. I found out about the free program and they explained to me that the government pays people $15,000. That's how it all started, and I started off with 10 panels in the back and kept pushing for more, and we now have 31 or 32.
We're all senior citizens so everybody was skeptical, but I’m pretty satisfied so far. Everybody in my neighborhood has them now because of me, except for two or three. However, Vivint cutting a few trees to give me some more sunlight would make me really happy. If I had to complain about anything it's the time that it takes to get it turned on because this time it seems to sit in Vivint's lap or the home office for two or three months and they kept telling me that it had to be approved. But overall, Vivint has been a really good company to deal with and I had a great experience with them.

I got turned down by SolarCity when we wanted to have solar energy because of the street in front of my yard. Then the guy from Vivint came in my job so I went with them. The system is up and running now and this is my first month of their service. My last bill was $116 when it wasn't on so hopefully, on the next bill I get, it won't be that much.
However, when they talk about the program, they should make sure to tell the client upfront that the process could take up to almost a year. For us, the process took seven months from the first point and it got a little frustrating. But the people at Vivint assured me as to what was going on. They kept in contact with me, called me at least once a week or once every two weeks to say where they're at and they're waiting on an electric company. It wasn't their fault it took that long. They were really polite and let me know every step of the way. Everything else was smooth. Anything that they messed up, they paid for. When they had an issue with it, they would explain to me or they fix it. So I'm looking forward to do other things with them but we'll have to see.

We were trying to get some bills to go down a little and I am very satisfied with my decision to go solar although I haven't seen any results of it as of yet. The Vivint Solar salesman was very knowledgeable, very friendly and very easy to understand. He got back to me when I had questions within a reasonable amount of time. The guys that put stuff in were phenomenal. There were four of them and they had everything right down to a science. They knew exactly what they were doing. They were very pleasant and cleaned up. The person who came and did the final inspection was very nice as well.
The only big disappointment I had was when it comes to the time that it took to get the whole process done. I signed the papers on April 7th and I was told it would be approximately four months by the time they get everything done. But it was four months exactly until the day that they rounded up and did the final inspection. But then, it was another two months after that before it was turned on. I was never told that and I was very frustrated because, from April, it wasn't turned on until September. I totally lost the whole summer sun. My son had solar put in a couple of years ago and it did not take that long. The CS has always been very friendly and very nice. But their hands are tied according to what they say, "Oh, it's up to the town now and there's nothing more than we can do about it. We'll keep you posted." They're only repeating what they can say. Other than that, everybody that I dealt with in Vivint Solar was very nice.

I've always wanted to go solar and Vivint recently made that available here in Utah. I first heard about them from a nephew who worked for them. Enrolling with Vivint took a lot longer than I thought to actually get the system up and running. We enrolled with them in December of last year. So it took almost 10 months getting it done. The initial signing of all the papers was easy. But the actual installation and all the inspections took a long time. During the process, I had contacted their customer service half a dozen times. But they don't have much information for me. I just got the same story from people that don't have first-hand information. They just said they're waiting on this or they're trying to get the inspection scheduled. That's all I could get. Not a lot of real solid details.
Other than that, when the salesperson pitched it to us, he said that we would be able to see the performance of every panel and how it was doing. And if there was a problem with a certain panel, we could call and it was under warranty. They could come in and look at it, fix it, replace it or whatever we needed to do. But I can't see the performance of all my panels. I can't even see the performance of my system over the past week, on a daily basis. So it's frustrating that I can't really get the data that I would like to see. So far, they give us how much it has produced today, how much it has produced this month and then for its lifetime. Those are the three numbers I get. It's just a very basic on their website and I can't see any kind of daily performance patterns which, I would like to see. Data aside, I'm still highly satisfied with my decision to go solar.

We went with solar energy services as an investment on solar and going green and so far, I am satisfied. Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy. They pretty much did the enrollment for us, so it was very convenient. I didn't have to do anything but do the approval. Their CS was very helpful and informative. They were very easy to get a hold of and they responded pretty quickly. The only thing that they fell short on is the reporting on their website on how the system is performing. It's really useless to the user because it doesn't show a history of performance. It's just the dynamic present reporting. They need to be a little bit more historically detailed. Other than that, Vivint Solar is very professional and customer-oriented.

My experience with Vivint Solar has been EXTREMELY disappointing and unprofessional. The install problem keeps getting worse. In order to install the electrical conductor the installers moved the attachment to my automatic garage door, using a 2 by 4 to reattach it. This adjustment to my automatic door caused the door to come off its track, not allowing the door to function properly. I had to resort to manually opening the door until the 2 by 4 fell off the wall which would not allow me to open the door at all. I contacted Vivint Solar and a technician came to my home with intention of restoring the automatic door mechanism to its original position on the wall. They were unsuccessful with their attempt to resolve the problem they caused. I received a phone call later that day and the spokesperson said they did not feel it was their responsibility and that they were not going to do anything else.
In addition I have not had a decrease in my monthly utility bill but a large increase when I was promised a decrease. The total for my solar and national grid bill ranges between $240 to over $400 in the summer when I use my AC. This is a single family home with family of four. I was told that my monthly bill would average $80 and currently I am seeing 4X that amount per month minimum. Most importantly and concerning to me is fact I cannot get out of this contract for 20 years along with fact the contract puts a lien on my house which I was not informed of when making this decision with Vivint.
Hi Cheryl, Thank you for posting your feedback. We're sorry that you experienced damage to your garage door and are seeing a jump in your bill. We've dealt with the local office of Vivint which is in Westfield, Mass., and they've been very helpful. We've also dealt with the folks in Utah which is where their home office is, and they've been very helpful, too. They're very responsive. If you call them with any kind of an issue or question, they take care of it right away. They periodically come by and make sure everything is working and they explained what everything is that's been attached to the house. They did a very good job and were courteous. They were very fast in getting everything done. They gave us a list of people whom we can call who could try to expedite things. So, it was a good process. I was finally able to send photos and evidence to the company's legal department. They agreed to remove the panels and reinstall them for $499.
That seems fair enough and I have learned a big lesson. In retrospect, everyone should have an independent source check their roof if it is approaching 10 years which is the age when a roof begins to show signs of aging and in need of replacement. Also, everything is becoming so legally confusing and binding that it would be a very good idea to have an attorney or at least a paralegal review the contract first. I will not be as trusting in the future but am pleased that Vivint is willing to work with me on this situation.

Getting involved with Vivint Solar may be the worst decision I have ever made. It has caused an incredible amount of worry and stress. I literally cringe every time it looks like it may rain. Vivint installed panels on my 22-year old house that I didn't know was (and still is) in need of re-roofing. The contract was signed November 26, the panels were installed in December but service wasn't initiated until May of 2017. If my house needs to be re-roofed now, it certainly will never hold up for the duration of a 20 year contract or even for a year for that. Vivint wants me to pay them $3,965 (basically $4,000) to remove the panels (that never should have been installed in the first place) so I can re-roof my house.
It is now nearly a year later. I have made more attempts than I can count to communicate with Vivint, asking for them to remove the panels so I can re-roof my home. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with Vivint customer service, only to be put on long hold times and transfers but never being able to speak with anyone with any authority and getting the runaround over and over. The email address that is listed on the contract (support@vivintsolar.com) is evidently a defunct email address which is why everything I sent just kept coming back to me. A customer service person finally told me that the address needs to be changed but hasn't been. None of the other customer service people even knew it was incorrect. I even hired a computer guy to see what was wrong with my computer. It's been really frustrating.
I had been thinking of solar for quite some time when a Vivint salesman came to my door. He was well spoken, professional and very likable. Aaron ** emphasized that Vivint would need to inspect my roof to make sure it was in good condition for the panels before we could go forward. The inspector showed up the next day. When he came down from my roof, he came by my front door, gave me a big thumbs up and said, "your roof looks great." I was so happy. (typical sucker, huh?) The salesman came back to my home with his computer tablet and said it would be faster if we signed the lease together and then he could show me where to initial. I trusted him as a professional and since the Vivint roof inspector told me that the roof looked "great" I naturally checked the box that asked if my roof was in good condition. I had no thought that I should distrust him.
It was impossible to tell from a computer that the contract is actually a tight, well-crafted, 27 page contract that you would need an attorney to explain. After a tile fell off of the roof and broke on the walkway where the Vivint installers accessed the roof, I called the Vivint damage department. The man who came over to put a new new tile up pointed out that all of the tiles in that area were pulling out from a twisted, dry rotted board. Chris said that I need to have this roof looked at. There is visible dry rot under the eaves that run up to the peak on one side of the house (I thought it was just peeling paint from the last paint job).
While my neighbor was having her house re-roofed, one of the roofers came over. He pointed out the dry rot and cracked tiles. I have a bubble in the paint in the master bedroom, from moisture coming in from the roof, close to the area of dry rot under the eaves. I have given up on trying to communicate with Vivint and am looking at taking legal avenues. I am retired and single and feel like I have really been taken advantage of.

A Vivint Solar rep came and told me about their program and explained it to me. He was cool, considerate and did a good job. We had panels that brought us up to 75% solar and we've had a couple of guys looked out to see if we could make some more energy by putting it up to 95%. We just turned on the system for the last part of it. In our city in North Fontana, it takes some time for them to get the formalities done, such as some paperwork and approval. Vivint did a credit check to see if we have the certain score to qualify and then everything went smoothly.
My wife was a little concerned since we were paying so much for electricity. Now, we're paying Edison, and we're paying Vivint as well. So, we're paying the same amount as what we had if we didn't have the panels. That's happened to a lot of people who have gone on with the solar. We're hoping that their program performs well as it will make my wife happy, as she's not convinced yet. Nevertheless, the guys from Vivint Solar did a superb job taking care of things, as far as the installation, saying what they were going to do and following up.

I have to say that there has been nothing but bad service from the time that I started to current. I get nothing but wrong information over and over again. It's like all teams have no idea what they are talking about. You ask to speak with a manager they give you the workout team who then you think gives you the right information but when you call back they give you wrong information again and instead of helping you they think by repeating the information is going to work. When you ask to speak with someone above the workout team they refuse to give you to anyone else because they say they are managers. I know there is someone above them that can help. Customer service is so bad why sign up with a company who has bad service over and over again. I just want a manager above the workout team who can help.

Tyler, Vivint Solar's sales rep knocked on my door and he was great. I've only had the system in operation a little less than a month. I had talked to other companies because I was intrigued by the fact that with Vivint Solar doesn't cost me anything and I wasn't about to put any money down on a system. However, I'm upset with the fact that nobody gave me a satisfying reason why it should take 90 days to hook me up.
After the thing was on the roof and all installed, it still took over three months to get it approved for the hook-up. I got all kinds of answers from different people. They just said, "There's a lot of issues and we've got to review them all." It didn't make sense to me and I was very upset by that. I probably lost $600-$700 because the first month that I got it hooked up was the 6th of September here in Lincoln. If I had it hooked up in July, 30 days or so after, it was 100 degrees here in July and August and I would have saved probably $600 bucks.

The Vivint Solar sales rep had a great attitude and I liked the idea of potentially saving money long-term. I've got one panel up on my roof and they're brand new. But I still have one panel on my roof not producing. An inverter went bad and I've been waiting for them to repair it since about three weeks ago. It's been a while and I invested much money into it. The local service here has been helping me out the best they can. I'm not getting any support and they didn't even know it was bad until I went online to the Vivint Solar website and found out that I was underproducing. I just want this fixed and I want this guaranteed that I have 25 years for it to hold up.

He walked me through the whole thing and answered all my questions very professionally, but he never said that it was going to take from April to October. I’m a little disappointed was that it took so long. I understand that there's a whole process to go through and permits are needed, but when things got to my house, it sound like it was going to be quick like as soon as the panels were installed. Besides that, the guys who showed up in my house were very professional when they did the installation. It was clean and the panels look great.
Customer service has been great. They called me every month to give me an update and they also sent me emails explaining the whole process and what was going on. I received an email a couple of weeks ago if it’s okay to turn the panels on so the system has only been running for a few weeks. Vivint has been a great company so far and I’m happy with them. I talked to few guys about solar panels and they’re also thinking about it. They’ve been waiting on me the whole time to see if the bill is going to change.

My initial experience with Vivint Solar, meeting Jacob who was the young salesman who represented them, was great. He was very nice and very professional. We decided we would take solar and within a day or so, he had his crew here already putting everything up. That was the first week of July, and an inspector came out, checked it all out, and said it was fine. We understood that it would take maybe 40 days before we would get the electricity and everything switched over. Toward the almost 60th day, I was getting pretty tired of it. I was wondering what was going on and I called Jacob again and he had someone contact me. I just told them to come take it out. I was tired of waiting and I thought they weren't keeping their word. I went online before I did all of this and looked at what people had to say and it was great, the salesman was great in getting it in. But getting it turned on was another thing. It took forever.
I had been told by Jacob that they had developed a Customer Service Department in January and that they were doing a lot better in handling all this type of stuff. But I guess it wasn't true because it didn't get handled correctly. I expected people to keep their word. I expected to be informed. If there was a hold up, customer service should have been on line with that and let people know without us having to call in and begging when are we going to get our panels in use.
I had also contacted someone from the Vivint office. The very nice lady dug up all the information and, somehow, things had gotten misplaced or forgotten.I had faxed everything that they asked for. I had signed whatever paper online that they wanted me to sign within an hour of them asking it to be done. The last fax, I had a response back that the guy I was sending it to didn't receive it. Everything went through, my fax machine told me that. Nothing happened. I waited quite a few more weeks after that and then no one had any record that it was in the file. No one had found it. I sent the lady the information and she got it right away.
Two days after I spoke with Jacob and the day after I spoke with the woman, I had a call from Edison, saying that it had been switched over. We had been okay'd to do that. However, I'm unsatisfied with my experience. The inspector was great. He was always very honest and truthful with us. The men who came out and put it up were very courteous. They were so detailed in how they handled things. It ran like a clock. I really enjoyed and saw the professionalism and how they were all working, and I appreciated that greatly. However, whatever department finishes this deal didn't seem to be on track with it very well. If anyone ever calls me, I would explain the niceness of the inspector and how well the people worked in my yard, but I would definitely tell them that there's a problem getting it to be turned on.

Since it was free, I decided to go solar. I was also told that there’s a lock price of certain cents per kilowatt and that I was going to have only one bill which is what I'll be paying Vivint Solar. It's been one month now and I'm not happy with that decision at all. When my electricity goes off through the solar at sunset, it kicks into the SMUD. So I have to pay both SMUD and Vivint. Vivint should have told me upfront that I was going to have two bills. Also, it took over two months for the city to finally approve everything, then we had to wait for the switch to come in to be able to turn it on. Summer was the time it was over with so I didn't even get the benefit for this year. Then there's no way that customers can really get a hold of anybody at Vivint. Their voicemail is constantly full and never ever do they have time to be able to answer their phones or clean up their voicemail message. It would be nice if we could call the people that helped us.

They told me that there are different phases that I have to go through as far as the government is concerned and getting approvals.
Vivint was expedient in coming out and installing the panels but they could improve on letting the customer know more often of the steps that are being taken in the process of turning it on. You have to do certain things through the utility companies and they could do a better job at keeping the customer informed. Panels were installed on our roof and after a couple of years a leak started to form in our upstairs bedroom. Turns out one of the legs, for the panel, were not properly installed and caused leakage. We called Vivint in June 2017 to address the issue. A person was sent out to assess the water damage and it was due to improper installation of a leg on the panel. An estimation was sent to Vivint and then it all went downhill from there. Vivint was responsible for sending out workers to remove the panels, but it took us about 5 months to finally have people come out to the house to remove the panels. I have lost count the numerous times we had to call Vivint. Every time we called to schedule workers, no one showed up on those days, only 1 person came out, and/or turns out the date were not officially scheduled on their end; so we end up wasting a day from work waiting for no one to show up.
Our appointments kept getting pushed back and the damage, from the leak, kept getting worst; to the point where the leakage caused water damage all the way down to our 2nd floor bedroom ceiling and into the light fixture. FINALLY after 5 months of back and forth calling Vivint employees come to the house to remove the panel and did a patchwork to prevent any more leakage. Are you kidding me (please see picture attached)??? That is the worst patch job done to our roof. Even the contractor coming to repair the damage of our home is appalled. This company has the worst customer service. They have not followed through with properly scheduling people to come out to remove panels, they do not call to follow up that no one will show up or to reschedule, they do not seem to care of the welfare of their clients from a damage caused by their product. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VIVINT SOLAR TO ANYONE.

My problem now is that have I been manipulated to get the panels up and paying two bills. I'm still getting billed for $127 by the electric company, PSEG. I paid one bill from PSEG and I figured that it was the last month. But when I got another bill this month, it was time to call the people at Vivint Solar. I got a bill the second month I’ve been paying Vivint Solar. I thought I didn’t have to pay my electric company anymore and that Vivint Solar would be collecting half of what I used to be paying from PSEG once the solar panels were up. I also thought I understood every single thing but if I have to pay two bills, then I have to contact the Better Business Bureau.
Not only that, I’ve been trying to sell the solar panels to friends of mine. I got the feedback from the lady who just moved into a brand new house. I told them about cutting their bill in half with the electricity if they put solar panels up and she said okay. So, someone went there, and the lady came back to me, since she’s an aid for my mother who lives with me, she said her brother, who bought the house, didn’t want to apply for the Vivint solar panel as he heard from them that they were going to pay two bills. So I said that two bills don’t sound right.
Vivint should be paying the bill from PSEG instead of me to keep me happy and if they wanted more customers. I haven’t paid it yet since I wanted to see if there was a mistake done on the salesman part or the people who installed the panels, or if Vivint Solar forgot to mention it to PSEG. My husband kept telling me that I’m going to regret going with Vivint and I told him no. But because of having two bills, I’m beginning to regret it. I don’t want to see another bill from PSEG. In fact, Anthony took a check from me for $1 so that they have my account number. I figured it was going to be an automatic withdrawal every month. I’ll have to check if there was any withdrawal from Vivint.
Hi Nadia, We're sorry that there was some miscommunication about our billing process. It is true that you receive two bills (one from your utility company and one from Vivint Solar), but with the combined two bills, you should still be paying less than what you were paying before solar. It was through email that the customer service explained to us the details on how to turn the system on. So, it was really a very simple and easy transformation. There was a minimal damage done to the siding on the house where it goes up to the roof then wires go up the telephone pole but the guy said he couldn’t put it back. They told me to contact the siding company but I’m having trouble with them coming to fix it.
Vivint offered me $400 to go ahead and the request is still in the works since I keep forgetting to follow up with the company to have the siding repaired. We were told that if the roof leaked after they were installed that it would cost us $500 to get them removed and stored. And that our roof would be guaranteed not to leak after installation. Now we have a leaky roof and getting the runaround on the phone and that's if we can even get an answer. Our bill is now $20 higher than if we would've stayed on the grid, not to mention we still get a bill from the city.
We have been trying to get our roof fixed since April and we can not get anyone to come take the panels off and now they say it will cost us $2200 to do so (wasn't it $500?). Looks like now we have to wait until our roof falls in and causes so much damage that a lawsuit will be started. It was a lot more expensive to get solar panels out here.
So, we enrolled with Vivint and it was pretty straightforward. We set up the appointment for them to come out and do all the groundwork, test what side of the house to put them on and how much we would need compared to our utility bills. Then they told us approximately how much it would cost to do the install, gave us a general timeline, and we went forward with that. The customer service team kept us in the loop during the process. I had questions and they were very forthcoming with their answers and I was very satisfied with that. When it came to installing the panels, they were very professional and very thorough. We have a power purchase agreement where I took a contract with them of 20 years to pay for the energy provided so all the expenses were upfront. They hooked us up with new electricity service from the streetlight to our home in preparation for the installation of the solar panels. They did a wonderful job and it’s updating our electricity.
I just sent them an e-mail about using automatic payment from your checking account which supposed to give you a $5 discount. I spoke to one of their reps and said that if I don’t do that, they tack on $5. But I looked at the wording in the agreement and it seems to say that I don’t get the discount unless you do that and I'm still waiting to hear back from them on that. We had our alarm through Vivint and a lot of people in our neighborhood were doing solar energy and we saw good results so we decided to give it a try. The installation was awesome and the guys were great. They cared about our house. We thought we planned in plenty of time for the installation. We started the process in April but it didn't actually get turned on until August. The time that it took to get the solar power going was basically the whole summer. We wished it could have been speeded up a bit somehow. But we're pretty satisfied at this point and things have been going great. It was a positive experience.

Being a customer of Vivint Solar had been the worst experience I've ever had with a company. I got solar panels installed in March, and my system turned on in May. Everything worked for about a week, and then all my panels stopped working. To make a very long story short, it's now October and they are just now getting around to fixing it. Their customer service team is worthless. They would say they would schedule a technician to come out, and then not do it. When they would schedule a technician, they would either cancel or reschedule the appointment. The one time I did get a technician to come out was in July, and he looked at it for a while and said he couldn't fix it. Then I had to go through the pain of scheduling with them again. Some of the customer service representative were polite and professional, others were absolutely rude. They all had one phrase they all used frequently, "Sorry, there's nothing I can do." So very frustrating.

We looked into getting solar services to save money. The process for enrolling with Vivint Solar was kind of difficult because we have friends and officemates that were telling us that if they have a problem with their solar, within an hour, they will be there. But with Vivint, they told us that if the technician is not in our area, we'd have to wait for an appointment to open up in that area, which was not really good. The installation team was okay but they left the side door open, which I have dogs, and then they had some garbage that they didn't pick up and throw.
The problem is Vivint said the system's activated two months ago and they emailed us that it wasn't working. When I saw our bill, it’s still high so this week, they came and figured out they messed up their connection. We have talked to other people who have solar that didn't have the same problem that I am having right now, that if we have a problem, it will take longer. Also, Vivint always changes their time. If we were told that this is the time that they're coming, we will have an email that is a different time. My husband and I cannot get off work to take a leave just for them to be there.

I had Vivint’s alarm system and one day, a Vivint Solar guy knocked on our door and explained everything to me. I've been thinking about going solar. And since it was basically no cost to me, we hooked it up. They did everything as fast as they could for the enrollment. It’s just when you deal with the county and everything to get the inspection and the approval, it seems like it takes a little long. We had an initial set of solar panels put on because we were traveling all the time. When we got back from traveling for about two years, we populated the rest of the roof. And things have been good so far.
The only thing I don’t like is that I have two accounts now. I tried to talk them into combining them both and they told me that they're under separate warranties, to which I replied, “We’re talking about billing, not warranty.” But they’ve been very responsive for the most part. Customer service is always spot on. When I ask a question, I get the answer. And if they don’t have it, they call me back and tell me what they found out. It's a painless experience and I’d be totally happy if they'd combine the bills.

A salesman from Vivint Solar came over one day. He told me one thing, but the reality was different. Then another person came and told me the system will be turned on at the end of July. We're into the first week of October. Vivint Solar refunded my first payment because I paid but I've never used the system. Vivint Solar told me I need to wait for the permit from Duke Energy and purchase the meter. I called Duke Energy and had them change the meter. I then waited for three weeks for the system to turn on. Vivint Solar told me I'm waiting for Duke Energy. In the next five minutes, I received the letter for the permit to turn the system on. Then I needed to wait for two additional days because Vivint Solar needs to give me permission to turn the system on.
Also, Vivint Solar also gave me no access to the SolarEdge application so I can see how my solar panel is working. They told me that it's only for the technicians, but that's not true. I called SolarEdge and gave my serial number, they then gave me access. Look for another company because I won't recommend Vivint Solar due to the experience I had.

My son got solar from Vivint and got a $500 bonus for signing in with them. I made a phone call and hit them with it but they said that the sign-in deal was over and I can't get that any more. So I told them I won’t do business with them but I got my 500 bucks in the end, which I thought was odd. Yet I wish I had known more about solar and had done more checking first. Because now, I understand where they make their money and I could have gotten a better deal. Still, I'm happy with Vivint Solar so far. They told me everything was going to be slow but I didn't know it would be as slow as it was. The job is finally getting done and the installation was good. The panels were installed and the dressing on the sides of the panels, which they said were backordered for a long time, was finally put on. The installers were clean and picked up after themselves the whole nine yards. It's been a good experience and I'd give them a call if I had to do it all over again.

When we bought our house, my wife wanted solar and I chatted with Vivint Solar's door-to-door sales guy, Steve. We flipped the switch on it two weeks ago today and we have the ability to check some of the daily consumption with Vivint. A lot of people go solar for the economics of it, though we're going to have to fight through tax rebates with the State and the Feds. We'll see if the numbers come out the way Steve indicated they would, that will give some level of satisfaction because it's supposed to be about $11,000 with credits. So far, so good though.
Vivint has an online customer portal where we can log in, but it doesn't give us any details other than three numbers: how much we produced today, how much we produced this week, and how much we produced recently, or at least at this point, it's lifetime for me. It gives us three numbers that we can use. Last year, we were using 40 units, give or take a day and on a sunny day here, we're generating 20 units. So my guess is, right now, we're generating about half the power we need.
Maybe by the winter time, we'll be generating all the power we need as we switch to our gas system for heating the house. We're satisfied to an extent, but we still need to see how the taxes come out. Based on the numbers that we talked about with Steve the State is going to be around $5,000 and the Feds are going to be about $5100. I don't know exactly how all of that stuff will come out, but we're supposed to get a cash rebate back as well.
Steve, the sales guy, made sales to pre-install easy. He came to the house a couple of times. Then once they had gotten the design specs back, they figured out how much we could support based on how much light our roof got. For all intents and purposes, I did a pretty solid corporate background check on all the different companies to see what they are charging per kilowatt hours. Vivint was charging us $3.50 per kilowatt, and it was slightly on the higher end. However, they offered ancillaries with the contract, for example, if we ever needed to change roofing tiles, they would come and take the panels off.
We have a smaller house, so we didn't need something massive, and they met our needs without going ridiculously over. We got the right size, a 5-kilowatt system, with a lot of the extra protections that were offered, like 20 years of insurance. They would also fix any leaks in the roof. We also could, if we wanted to, have a battery installed in the house so we could store energy rather than sending it back to the grid.
The installers said they would be here at 8:00 and one of the trucks were here before 8:00 with the other one rolling up right around 8:00. They cordoned off the area around the house and quickly got to work on installing the system. There were at least a half a dozen guys who were doing all sorts of different tasks relating to installing the panels on the roof. Some were doing the wiring, and others were building or installing two of the photovoltaic boxes. You got one box where the power comes in from the street, but they still installed two other boxes. One is an emergency set-up, switch off. And the other is the brains of the system that communicates back to Vivint. Everything they did in those almost five hours was well done. In the two weeks, we've been running the system, we haven't had any problems with it.

But my initial interaction with Vivint Solar two years ago wasn't so good because Jake, the guy managing it, didn't show up when he was supposed to multiple times. And then another guy, Wilfredo, took it over during the winter time. He's been great ever since, he's been on the ball, and has been very helpful. Since then, it's been extremely easy. Vivint Solar is the most miserable company I've ever dealt with. If I had to do it all over again, I would never do it. It all started with the fact that they put a hole in my roof and my roof leaked. We had to take it off then redo a roof and that took eight weeks to fight and argue for and get through. Then they put the panels back on and we still got some issues with leaks. We're taking care of that but that's still a problem and now my inverter is broken too. We're going to deal with that but it's a mess after a mess after a mess.
My biggest problem was the claims people, Blake and those guys, in Utah. Everything was a process and there was back and forth, which was crazy. On the other hand, they've got guys like Chris and Jared who are great, but not everybody's like them. Jared was an electrician in the area here and Christopher was our salesman. He was phenomenal and the company should be very proud of him. He kept it all together and if Vivint Solar didn't have him, I probably would've went the legal route to get rid of them.
They've got an equipment problem and it's not just me. I recommended a lot of people to Chris and they went with Vivint Solar as well and the company is having problems with everybody. I also heard they've got a terrible rating out here in Massachusetts and Vivint is the number one company on the Attorney-General's complaint list. SolarCity's right behind them and when Vivint Solar got bashed in the news here about a month ago, it was interesting. It's been a frustrating experience overall and if they really care about their business, they need to step it up a notch and get their act together because SolarCity's moving into this town really fast with Tesla now.

We were avoiding solar because we didn’t want any extensive loans or financial obligations but the sales rep from Vivint was very professional and he took the time to sit at the table to explain and made us comfortable with the program. We liked the presentation and the process was initially good until the installation. The crew they sent to put all the panels on the roof were nice guys but after they left we started finding nuts and bolts all over the grass in the lawn. We have a section of our yard with rocks and rocks were also in the rain gutters and the backyard. For weeks we were picking up and finding these pieces. Thank God none of it ever got into a lawnmower. The way they cleaned up after themselves was very sloppy so it turned out to be a bit of a headache.
We were also told a couple of things that did not pan out. I was told that after everything was done somebody would come by and do inspections and they would also paint the equipment to match all the piping on the side of the house. None of that ever happened and I ended up painting it myself. They shouldn’t have told me that in the first place because I expected it and it didn’t happen.
Then it became a long wait. Four months later I got frustrated because the updates were not forthcoming. They said, “Oh, we need another inspection. The city wants something else. The utility company wants something else. We have to go back and re-inspect," and then, "We needed to take more photograph on the roof.” It was one thing after another. Until finally it all came together and we got it turned on late last month. I’m pleased it’s done but I didn’t enjoy the process. It was frustrating.

My husband and I are coming down on retirement, and the financial flexibility that we had doesn’t make sense. We had the roof replaced, so looking into solar energy services seemed like a good time. Andy, our salesperson, is phenomenal and he stayed with us until the very end. Our enrolment took a bit longer because after Vivint did the initial study, we discovered that the pine tree that I never liked prevented us from getting more solar panels. We paid to have it removed but doesn’t reimburse us for it because now there are more solar panels on our roof and that was neat. One of my neighbors had it done even around the corner and he said they noticed that because the solar panels sat a couple inches off the roof, it’s like having shade cover without the leaves. So in the summer, we have a barrier that prevents all the sun from coming straight into the roof.
When everything seemed to go, they scheduled the county inspector but there was a little bit of confusion because the county inspector got the wrong location. Everything was submitted and we thought it’s submitted to PECO because we’re ready to go, but it was not submitted to Vivint corporate. I was shocked that it took them a full 40 days to approve it which was excessive when it is their day in and day out job. But they worked it out, we now have the solar panels and we just got notification of our first bill. But I’m having a little trouble logging on to the website to set up an account because I don’t have the password, but I also haven’t had the bandwidth to pay attention to it. Other than that, we were very pleased with Vivint and I am going to recommend them. It’s the way to go.

I was not particularly in the market for solar energy services but the thought was out there, that solar has become very popular. It's a way to do some cost cutting and be a little green. Enrollment was difficult with Vivint Solar was difficult. The person who came by here was Jason and he was very green. The first time he came, he had no identification with him from Vivint, so I turned him away. He took care of his identification, but unfortunately, there was an accident in his family and he either took leave or went away, but nobody told me that. I waited and tried to have some email back and forth with him, but then nothing was coming back to me. So, I finally called Vivint and I got the sales manager for Sacramento. But he's been very busy. He's a very nice fellow, but he wasn't giving me the communication that I want. So, that's part one of it. I still don't have a go-to person.
I have spoken with customer service. I'm still looking for answers but Vivint is not user-friendly for getting good answers. I got an email from them that said, “$40 should be taken out of your checking account on the 20th of September as your bill for the partial first month.” Jason who made it sound as if it's going to all happen within the Sacramento Metropolitan Utility District bill. They're our electrical provider. That it would be all in that bill, and that I would see a reduction in cost.
It apparently doesn't work that way. SMUD is going to back out all of the energy that's produced here on site by the solar panel, and then Vivint is going to bill for their portion of that that's based on the offset and the rate. I try to enroll to get online and do it, and it asked for a number. I put the account number and zip code in and it doesn't work. I tried by phone and it was going to take me forever to talk to someone. Nobody's ever explained how it works with the billing. I'm frustrated.
An even bigger frustration is that when Vivint came out and started drilling holes in the roof to do an install back during the rainy season, they were doing it in the wrong area. It wasn’t the plan that we approved. Because it was going to start to rain, they put flashing up there. The office manager for Sacramento came out subsequently when they finally did get to the installation sometime after the rain had subsided. He said that he’s going to need to reach 200 square feet above and that if I could get information on the material that’s on my roof. I did but I never heard anything further from him. This was back in February.
I have tried through the sales manager in Sacramento and through customer service, the last I heard was that it’s damaged. They were looking to a couple of contractors locally, and that one of them would be contacting me. That's been several weeks ago. Communication is my biggest complaint. I still don't know what's going on with the roof. There is a lot of room for improvement. On the technical aspects, I could not be happier with what I've seen so far. Saving $100 a month maximum on our electricity bill is nice. Doing something nice for the environment itself is good too. But nobody's ever connected the dots for me. Overall, they’re technically-competent but communication-challenged.

Since I live in an HOA, he got the signature that was required by my neighbors and he presented everything to the HOA. HOA approved it and sent me the approval. They started in May, then I was connected in July. It was very quick. So far, it's been a good decision. A lot of my other neighbors haven't talked to them, but there's a lot of people from this little conclave that are getting on solar. I'm thinking about switching my home security over to Vivint also.

A guy from Vivint Solar came and showed me the numbers if I used solar energy. It made a lot of sense and was a lot better than Edison. We'll be saving some serious money plus it's green energy and clean. It was kind of a win-win so we signed up with them and we're ecstatic about our decision to go solar. It’s a no-brainer. If you live in Southern California you’re getting hosed by the utility and I didn’t realize how bad it was until I had another option.
Vivint took care of everything in setting up our system. Their guy came, explained it all to me and my wife, and measured the roof. Then he came back to show me the design. He told me how much power it's going to make and that they were going to get permits from the city. A couple of weeks went by and they called and told us that they'll be coming back out by June 28th to install the system. We were there and they showed up and installed it. I was annoyed when I found out they had broken a bunch of tiles, but they told me that it happens. Then they replaced them and didn't charge me anything for it so I was happy and very pleasantly surprised with that. My experience with Vivint was great and I referred three people to them. One of them didn’t qualify but the other two are moving forward.

Enrolling with Vivint Solar was so easy. They just sent me emails a couple of times and I answered them and they did the rest. Their customer service was professional and awesome and it was easy to get a hold of them. They even answered all the questions if I email and they’re fast on. Also, everybody was great and knowledgeable and they explained in detail. The guy took his time to let us understand, even looking at bills, to see it would be different and how the whole program worked. They also did a very quick installation and they turned the solar panels on a month ago. There were unavoidable problems with the schedule, but they were very flexible. They were excellent overall.

So I decided to go solar as well. So far, it's been a wonderful experience and it’s working fine. However, I got bad bills from them, it was screwed up and somebody had to straighten it out. Instead of having to pay $77, I got a bill for $117 but I guess that takes care of some other stuff. Nevertheless, I would suggest that everybody take Vivint Solar because it's a good thing and I was really happy with it.

Looking into solar energy was always in the back of my mind and I heard so much about it. One person from Vivint came then about a month later John, their customer service guy, was knocking on the door. He brought another guy with him and they were both very nice, professional, respectful and knowledgeable. John explained everything to me and how we're saving the environment of which I was always interested in that. He would keep me updated on everything that was happening since it was such a long process.
When I got a bill from Vivint and another bill from PECO, I called them and they explained everything about that. Everybody I talked to at Vivint was awesome and and the women I talked to explained to me that within the first year, the more I manufacture the cheaper my electricity would become. The guys who put the panels on the roof came were slow but they did their job in half the time that they thought it was going to take. John also came out that day to make sure everything went smoothly. Getting Philadelphia to come out and actually inspect the panels took a long time, too. But, other than that, everything was pretty easy. It was a good experience with Vivint Solar and I told some of my neighbors about them. Actually, when the installers were here, my next door neighbor asked me about it and I sent John over there to talk with her and her husband.

And I went to find out that they had a wrong email address in there. While enrolling with Vivint was fine, there was a problem with PNM. The system was up and ready to run in February and we didn’t get it turned on until July. I wouldn’t say their customer service has been good as well. They got one number for all departments and it’s taking a little while for me to call and for somebody to answer. I haven’t been real pleased with that.

I do not have SUNRUN, I have Vivint. But neither makes any difference. They’re both very bad companies and the reason they do not give you a system that is big enough is because there is a bill, introduced and signed by Nikki Haley in 2012. She fixed it where NO citizen can go completely off the grid in this state and there is only a percentage as to how many citizens can have solar power. WHY? Politics, what else? She got a very large stock of shares in SCE&G and all it's sister companies for doing this.
Then there is the actual solar company, install and operation. It took Vivint over a year to complete my installation. One of the reasons for that was, just like SUNRUN, they both pull a fast one on us. They tell us we are "ELIGIBLE" for 99% of our power to be from the solar panels. Then we signed a contract listing the system and panels--RIGHT?
Then comes the install, (By the way, ALWAYS check your roof during and after they are there but before they leave -- for damages) Vivint destroyed a lot of my 2 month old metal roof--so, then 2 weeks later they come back with a completely different contract which Vivint called the post install agreement. Now this is where they get MOST people--they just signed it--I caught this--if you look at both contracts, they are completely different. The one after the install has different panels as well as less panels than the first one we signed. It had dropped my panels from 40 down to 31 and my percentage's of producing elect from 99% down to 83%.
I REFUSED to sign the second one. And when they started pressuring me to sign, I called my Lawyer. Vivint drag it out another 10 months even after I served them with a LETTER OF DEFAULT. BUT, after a total of 14 months, they showed back up with more panels to get my system back to 99%. When dealing with retail like this, ALWAYS assume that the company you are buying from, is out to cheat you!!! BECAUSE THEY ARE. Just like our Government.
REMEMBER, big company's PAD the politicians’ pockets to either look the other way or create a bill that will secure their future. Nikki Haley/SCE&G case in point. Either in cash, gifts or stocks and bonds. And do not forget, as long as we keep putting these politicians back in office, this sort of conduct will only progress.
If you want solar, PURCHASE--do not lease--The lease gives the 55% of the cost of these systems back to the company's you lease from, not you. Then, that same bill Miss Haley wrote and put into effect gives the leasing company the right to charge you for what your system is pumping out per KW opposed to charging you a "FAIR" flat rental rate. If I could go back and change all this, I would have purchased, knowing what I know now. But, if you're set on leasing, DO NOT SIGN the second contract until you have checked both apples for apples.

We had Vivint Solar representatives come to our door but I told them we're not interested. They then said that it's not going to cost me a thing and I let them in. I heard what they had to say, and I was drawn into it. I liked the idea that I'm doing my part to help this state because we are in the beginning of going green across America. We were extremely satisfied we went solar. The representative made things very easy. He was awesome at what he does, he knows his business and does it well.
I handed him our last PG&E bill which was $150. He looked at the graph to see how much we used in specific months and we qualified. It's our responsibility and it's on our roof and pulling in energy to be distributed. Our electricity bill this month was $61.49. They told me it would be around that amount for the first few months. At the end of the year, they'll compute and if we've used more than anticipated, we'll be charged. But if we use under, other people benefit. It's a win-win. Also, the crew that put the panels up was very courteous and knowledgeable. They had to drill and they answered all my questions about the equipment they put at the back of the house. It looked nice on the roof. They did a very good job and were all very professional. It went up very quick like LEGO and they cleaned up their mess.
However, it took longer for the city of Lincoln to get it approved. The representative told us that when the panels go up, it could be a matter of weeks before it's activated. I waited for somebody to come to the door, go up the roof, take a look at it and make sure that it's put on properly for it to function. Four months after, Vivint Solar called and said I’m ready to go. In that four months, we were still paying $150 to PG&E. The rep then told me what to do when I get the notice and I was cool with that. He made it very simple for us. My mom and I are joint homeowners and he helped us by filling out the paperwork then we signed it. Overall I can see how important it is to get the solar energy up and running. Using natural energy this way came to life since we got Solar and this is all for myself. It floors me how much energy the sun gives. I've already notified a couple of friends about Vivint, who knows what they're doing and is doing it for the right reasons.

A few months after I bought this house four years ago, a rep named Karen came to our neighborhood to get customers to purchase Vivint Solar. She told me she could set me up on a lease program and there was nothing out of pocket. That sounded like a good deal so I went with it. They put 22 panels on my roof and no one mentioned about upgrading the panel blocks. There was only a 50-Amp panel block and it fried the box inside out. Right now, they're on my ** list. I never contacted any Vivint rep because they should have done this before they put the solar panels on. A buddy of mine who is a certified electrician for the City of San Bernardino came over and we put a 200-Amp box in the house. We’re finishing up and we're also going to make some changes in it to upgrade what I wanted.
Service-wise, Vivint Solar did a ** job of running electrical lines. When you drove up in my driveway, all you saw were electrical lines flowing up to the solar panel. Once they got it installed, no one inspects on me and I want to make sure that all the solar panels are all right. There's an inverter up there that's supposed to be wrong and we had to turn the solar panels off for about four days now but they’re telling me they can't come out until next month. The Vivint manager came out and they changed it over, re-routed it, and fixed it partially. The solar panels have been on there for over a year and they finally came out about three months ago. There are some things that should have been redone to make it look better. I have about eight-panel blocks on the side of my house, where it should have been only three at the most.
The alarm system hasn't worked since and the other day, Ryan who was a very nice gentleman, came out and caught me putting the alarm system through Vivint Solar. Also, my cameras that are on the front and the back say that I lost the internet service. It was working on my phone and all of a sudden, everything went dead. The alarm's been off for two days now because we had electrical down. No one had come out and checked on it other than they called and made an appointment for the inverter. Better customer service might be something that would need to be done. The problem’s over and done with and I'm going to go on but if I was getting unhappy about it, I could probably get a lawyer.

My neighbor gave me a hotline to call the city people and they said that I've been checked and was already approved. So I called back to Vivint and asked why my Solar service wasn't still on and they told me that it's going through corporate. In California, the solar service should be turned on by a certain date. If not, then I could not be locked-in to Vivint's good rate. So I had to push them and evidently, I pushed them hard enough for them to turn it on. They called me while on vacation in Tahoe, and they said that everything's good to go and to go ahead and switch it on. However, nobody's home at that time.

They sell it well and you do not get the savings they offer. You end up paying them for the solar you produce and paying your electric company. You're stuck in a 20 yr. contract. It's not a good selling point for your home. No one wants a lease and if you need them removed to improve your home they will charge to come out and remove them. Even though their salespeople state there is no change. Customer service is horrible! If you ever have issues don't believe they will call you back and resolve them because they won't!!! Consumer beware of this horrible company!

We paid Vivint Solar $500 to remove from our roof and store their panels per the contract agreement guidelines, while we had a new roof installed. After they confirmed they had received the payment it took them almost 2 months to set the appointment to remove the panels so we could set the appointment with the roofers. Every time we spoke with Vivint we told them the panels would only need to be off for 1 week per the roofing company, and Vivint said fine just call back when roof was done to confirm they could put the panels back up. That has been over two months ago and they still haven't reinstalled the panels and the newest date they gave us is in September when we even-up with SDG&E. Needless to say we are going to owe SDG&E when we even-up, as of today it's $512 plus about $150 I paid when they took the panels off thinking this would be more than enough to make up for the down time we expected.
Across the board any Vivint employee we spoke to couldn't do anything for us, they did not return any phone calls even when they said they would, and recently they told us they were short on panels - so where are the panels they were suppose to be storing for us? Have they been used for the new installations? There has been a man who has returned calls to my husband, but most recently he had a very unhelpful Vivint employee call in his stead to say yet again they could not set an appointment for the reinstall. After my husband asked whether or not there are any class action suits filed against Vivint the man who'd apparently chickened out on calling with BAD news called my husband back and set an appointment for the reinstall over a month out in mid-September. I find it hard to believe we are the only customers they are taking advantage of and costing money.
We have tried to be nice and understanding and I think that may have been the problem as the most recent call back attests to - THE SQUEAKY WHEEL - is probably who they are taking care of. Originally we had been given a late August date for reinstall, then we were told they were having an organizational revamp and we would have a new date but it would not be any later than late August, the unhelpful fellow the man had return his call said they still couldn't schedule us, but after my husband finally lost a bit of cool the man called and said mid-September.
Hmmm! I'm so tired of being taking advantage of, being lied to, having to pay out extra money we don't really have available right now, and in general feeling like Vivint doesn't care a bit about their customers or at the very least about our needs apparently because we have been nice and polite. If there is a consumer class action suit out there against Vivint Solar sign us up!!! Our Vivint contract is dated 8/12/2014.

I emailed the contract to my neighbor and he read through it for me, and he said that it sounded too good to be true. He is currently leasing and now he’s sorry that he’s not with Vivint Solar, and he said that when his contract with the lease is up, he might consider going with them too. Then he talked to his neighbors who recently got Vivint and told them about my experience with Vivint Solar and what a good deal I had with them. My new neighbor across the street also asked me about my solar energy service and she’s very interested in it, and I gave her Jimmy’s card. I've had a very easy and wonderful experience with Vivint Solar and even if going solar doesn’t reap me financial rewards, saving the earth is already a benefit.

My experience with Vivint Solar has been a mixed bag. Of course when they were trying to make a sale they were very responsive to me but after the installation was complete not so much. The two biggest issues I have are with the size of the system they sold me on and the company they set you up with to finance. I had lots of back and forth with my sales person about the size of the unit they were installing and in the end I trusted the salesman which in the end was a mistake. I now produce quite a bit more power than I use and I just have to give it to the power company for nothing while I pay for the larger system. It is really disheartening that I must now continue to pay for this larger system because I trusted the company to do the right thing when selling it to me and they were not honest about the output.
One of the main items the sales person kept pointing out was how accurate they were at estimating how much output I would get. The other problem I have with Vivint is the company that they have partnered with to finance the solar panels and that is Mosaic. I have had the system about 6 months now and they have already made two mistakes with my payments. The first payment I made they withdrew twice and refused to return my money and I had to file a fraud claim with my bank to get a refund which cost me out of pocket to do so.
The second problem I had was apparently I paid my bill too early (about 20 days before the due date) which, according to them, does not count towards my normal monthly payment so I had to make another payment on the due date. I was again told that they can not refund the payment so I am out an extra payment for the time being. Overall my experience with Vivint Solar has not been that great and I would not recommend them. All I was trying to do is do what is best for the environment by getting solar power and instead I believe I was slightly duped by a company and a sales person who knew that.

I looked into solar energy to see if I could save some money on my electric bill. Vivint Solar's team was informative when I was enrolling and the process had been real easy. While it took a long time to get their service turned on, installation was quick nevertheless. Also, their customer service representatives were all very helpful and knowledgeable.

My granddaughter’s hearing teacher signed up for Vivint Solar and was discussing Vivint with us, and we went into Vivint Solar too. We picked the same representative that they had and we did what we had to do and wait on when it was time to have the installation done. Every time we call their customer service, they answer and that's a good business start. We were offered for them to put another section on and they put it on. They sent the tech around that really seemed to know what he was doing, set it all up and hit the door. And here we are manufacturing electricity in the sun. Everything is working. It helps us out in the summertime with our air conditioning and it takes the edge off our electric bill which is very good.

Vivint Solar’s representatives came over and started talking. Everybody else is going that way, so I gave it a shot. So far, it is okay. We didn’t have to put out money so that’s one good thing about it and we didn’t have any problem when we enrolled with them. The customer service at Vivint Solar would send us emails or give us a call every now and then to tell us what was going on and how close they were. They kept in touch with us. It took forever for the electric company to make their mind up. So, we were a good two months with it up sitting on the roof and we weren't hooked up yet. This will be our first month full solar because our last bill was only half. I've recommended them to several other people so he had been in contact with them. Everybody's talking about it.

Was told on 8/1 that it was being processed but last night agent saw no sign of credit being processed. Sold house in end of June & just received a bill for July. Called customer service Billing & was transferred to Transfers. They could see the account had transferred & sent me to Fleet. Fleet sent me back to Billing who sent me back to Fleet. We signed a few papers and he explained it to us. It was pretty good. And now that we have it, people stop, look and ask questions. We're very satisfied and excited about our service. Overall it’s been a great and educational experience. I’m just glad that we’re able to get it.

My solar with Vivint was turned on about a month ago and now, I'm still waiting for them to repair my drywall in the garage where they put the box in. Other than that, so far, so good. The enrolment was not difficult but it was a bit lengthy. I got in touch with their customer service to review my contract and I was given basic information. The company I work for, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, raised their rates on March 1st and I wasn’t going to pay the exorbitant prices where it comes to using my air conditioner. So I looked into getting solar energy services and I'm very satisfied with that decision. Enrolling with Vivint Solar was a wonderful experience. Adam came to my house and explained all my options to me. I went with buying the whole system and when we set up a date for them to install, they four guys came out and got it all installed in one day. Everything was great. I then shared my experience with a friend of mine, and he had it done too. For that, Vivint gave me a couple hundred bucks cash back so that was pretty cool.
Hi Joe, We're happy that one of our solar options could suit your needs. Thanks for being a Vivint Solar customer!

Our dispute with Vivint solar has been resolved to our satisfaction.
Original Review: Aug. 8, 2017
There are two problems. First problem was a safety issue. Vivint Solar owns the panels on our house, was not willing to make them safe by installing snow guards (people could have been injured coming up our front stairs from a massive amount of snow falling on them), Vivint gave us the run around about installing the snow guards, told us we could not hire someone else to install them, said that they would not be liable if someone were hurt from falling snow, What kind of a situation does this put us in??? We finally paid $533 to buy the snow guards and finally Vivint installed them. The Utah and Massachusetts offices of Vivint did not seem to communicate with one another very well. We are very disappointed that they would not pay for the snow guards nor did they seem to care about people being injured.
Second issue. We are having construction done on our roof. We are having a very difficult time getting Vivint to remove the panels for our construction. The sales person told us that it would be "easy" if we ever need roof work done, that we call Vivint, pay them $500 and they remove the panels. After the roof work is done, Vivint puts the panels back. It has been not one bit easy. At the end of May we sent Vivint the drawings for the addition to our house. The Vivint person we sent them to never forwarded the drawings to the correct person. No one at Vivint told us that we were supposed to be sent an invoice for $500 before we could schedule removal of the panels. Six weeks later, Vivint finally tells us that we need to pay an invoice of $500. We wait 2 hours on the phone with the billing department to pay them $500.
They say that after we pay the $500 we will be able to schedule removal of the panels. Two hours after we finally pay the $500 we get an invoice saying that we have to pay another $250 for a redesign of the panels on the new roof before we can schedule the removal of the panels. Why weren't we told this before??? We are willing to pay them anything. We contact them almost 2 months in advance to have this all taken care of and they do nothing until we CALL and CALL to try to get the panels taken off our roof. We keep getting a different story from different people in the company. We are told our contractor cannot remove these panels from our roof but we cannot get Vivint to schedule a date to remove the panels so we can have work done on our house.
After we finally got them to schedule removal of the panels so we could have work done on our roof - 3 agonizing hours on the phone with them mostly on hold and carefully telling at least 3 people at the company the instructions about the panel removal (we even asked each person to repeat the work order to us) - they came and removed the wrong panels from our roof. After we sent a complaint to the Utah Better Business Bureau we made plans to discuss our many, many problems with Vivint with a manager named Michelle. We sent her 3 emails and left one phone message and have not heard back from her. I can't believe that we still have 18 years left in our contract with this company. This is like a marriage gone horribly and we can't get out of it. It's a nightmare.
Hi Nancy, We apologize for the difficulty in getting your panels removed and for the communication issues. Our records show that you asked not to be contacted until after August 5. We apologize if that was a miscommunication on our end. We are seeing that Michelle had contacted and spoke to you after that. We had solar water at our previous house and I wanted to take advantage of the benefits of solar energy. We signed up for Vivint Solar in March and only finally went solar on June 8th. They had to upgrade my electrical panel and they left it looking like crap, and I’m not happy about that. Although, in their defense, we did tell them, "Okay, yeah. You don't have to worry about painting. We're going to paint the house anyway." Also, I have wax siding in my house and they had a telephone line coming out. They didn't even use those little U-shaped clips to clip them to the house so they were just flopping. My husband fixed it but to leave somebody's home in that shape, I was mortified.
Enrolling with Vivint Solar was very easy but after we had the panel upgraded and the solar panels installed, it was an unbelievably long period of time for us to be able to turn it on. They kept saying, "It needs to go through our final process." I said, "You know what? Take my file out from the bottom of the stack and put it on the top of the stack." Communication was not their strong suit. But every time I called customer service, they were absolutely wonderful. They were very nice and they understood my frustration. The door-to-door salesman was very nice and pleasant, Johnny-on-the-spot with answers but when I tried to get in touch to ask him what's going on and why can't we speed up the process so I can get my solar turned on, he never answered my phone calls. I haven’t gotten my bill yet but my experience was totally adequate.

I was paying too high of a bill to Duke Energy. Sometimes it was $240, $250, $260, or more. Also, we ran out of power a lot of times. Something happened and everything shut off. With solar energy, I figured it might be better and it would help the environment. I've been with Vivint since June of this year. I was told that I was supposed to pay Vivint or the company that finances $184 a month plus about $7 to Duke Energy for the meter. After a little over a month of having Vivint, I got a deal from Duke Energy of $329 and I called to find out what happened. They said that the solar panel wasn't working. The salesman from Vivint came, checked, and said something was wrong and it wasn't producing any power. That time, I had to go and when I came back, the system was shut off. I haven't been told what happened and what's going to be done.
Although the experience is not that good now, everybody was good. Everything was done right except that the system didn't work. I was told that if somebody messed up, Vivint is going to be responsible for the bill and I don't have to worry much about it. If they find what was done wrong, they could fix it and make sure that when they do their installation somewhere else, it doesn't happen and the customer will be happy. I have Vivint's sign in the front of my house and some people have told me that they are going to order the panels because I have that sign.
We're sorry to hear about your billing issue, Luis. We'd like to make sure this gets resolved for you. Can you please send your address either via private message or by emailing socialmedia@vivintsolar.com, so we can make sure to handle this in a timely manner? Thank you!

I chose Vivint Solar over everyone else because of the size of the company and they do more than just solar. There are always new startups out there but my warranty is for 20 years, this is a very long process and I doubt that half of these people will even be here in 20 years. Enrollment with Vivint Solar went easy. I dealt with a gentleman and he had a lady named Jane that helped him. Both of them were very good but Jane was absolutely wonderful. She was one of those people that you can call Johnny on-the-spot. You call her and she’s right back at you. There’s no waiting. She did a good job there.
But we had a problem when it first got set up. They came out and installed the system, they had a quality crew come out to double check everything and then the city official came out and said that it’s not right. The problem was that they didn't put rods in the ground. I was a little put off that it wasn’t installed right in the first place and then the quality crew missed it as well.
And I’m still a little bit leery about the fact that I got a bill an hour ago and to me it seemed too high. I sent it to Jane and she's looking to see if it's correct. I understood that my power bill was going to go away. It’s usually at least $76. But so far it has been a good decision to go solar. Everybody's been very courteous. I was told a lot of things upfront and they’ve done everything they said they’d do.

Roof Leak! This most likely has been happening for about a year, noticed it now... 2 months in still no resolution. Started with water marks in the bedroom ceiling 1, 2, 3, then leaks #s 4 and 5 appeared in my wife's closet. They sent out a tech who tightened a few bolts. Thought it was good. Stains got bigger. Now we see mold. My wife has Cystic Fibrosis. This is a deadly mix. Fast forward a few weeks later, electrical support wire ripped out of the joist leaving a huge hole in the soffit. I called the electric company still thinking it was all chance... They said the only reason this happens is due to rafter rot... Huh? Guess what a few days later heavy rains and now I have water pouring out of my high hat lights and a big leak and finally a hole in the kitchen ceiling.
Guess what. A squirrel climbs into the hole in my soffit and nests giving birth in my ceiling. Now I have water, mold, feces and urine over my bed... Did I tell you my wife has CF...a breathing disease? I had an wildlife crew come to get the critters out. Paid a window guy to caulk around my windows still not realizing it was the solar panels yet. Shame on me. My guy goes up on the roof...and sees the shingles are all smashed from the installation. Instead of the water running off it is pooling and soaking through and running between the siding. Soooo now we have an answer.
The solar company sends over a roofer, he recommends fixing all 3 locations, not just the one. Shingles will never match. They tell me they should never have put the panels on the roof. This will be the 5th person to tell me that, 2 from their company as well. They tell me to research another company since they don't like his work anymore. I get one. This guy is good. He hits on things the 1st guy misses such as fixing kitchen mess, mold remediation, electric wire placed back, fixing the rotted out beam, a dumpster for the trash, insulation replaced, etc. They thought his cost was too much. They now want me to use the guy they thought was inadequate... LOL. I sent them articles on mold and its effects on Cystic Fibrosis, told them I would get a lawyer from the CF foundation.
Back and forth for 2 months and we are at an impasse. They want me to settle on the cheaper price from the guy they deemed inadequate who missed a ton of damages... LOL. I want them to do the right thing and replace all 3 portions of roof since 5 people told me the roof was too old to support it anyway. Again 2 were from their own company. The only person who said it was in great conditions with at least another 12 years of life was the shyster sales guy. Did I mention they took the panels down and are still charging me the monthly fee? I feel like I was lied to in order to get these panels on my roof. In NJ there is a push for solar. I wish I never let them in my house. Shame on you Vivint. Do the right thing. At this point after all the missed days of work, money spent and aggravation I should get a whole new roof from them.

I had been interested in solar because it's electricity-generating without the adverse effects of burning coal and it just made sense. Then, a salesman from Vivint Solar came by and he was pleasant and not pushy. The first time they came to install, the electrician said there wasn't room to put in whatever was needed. The people on the truck had unloaded everything so they loaded it all back up and left. Then, my salesperson said there was someone that he wanted to come out to see whether this could be done. The guy came a day early and said that it could be done. He said he'll talk to the electrician who's coming out and the crew came out the following day. The electrician went down and he checked that it was all right to go through the boards I have lining the basement. Then, they started working on putting it up.
They're the best work crew I have ever seen. They were friendly and they would stop and talk if you asked them something but mostly, they just worked. I have 41 panels on my roof. The guy went through and they tossed things on the ground, very carefully picking all the little odds and ends up. I found a total of two they missed but it was 93 degrees so I can't say they were doing it in perfect conditions. But there was a breeze and it was earlier so, it wasn't quite as humid. Also, they had plenty of water and I have a tree in my front yard so that if they really needed to, they could get down in the shades a little. It worked very well and they finished about 5:30 that evening.
They were saying it might take a while for the county to come out and it didn't take them as long but they said the inspector who came out was not the inspector they really like. That one always finds something but he couldn't find anything wrong with it so that was okay. Also, BGE came out pretty quickly and I was online a whole lot faster than I expected to be. I also found that the panels seem to insulate a bit so that my air conditioner is not running all the time. So it's double energy saving and I'm having lower bills than I was expecting.
I don't fault Vivint for having the very first electrician who came out not having the ability to see what could be done because the second one knew exactly what to do and did it beautifully. Sometimes, the people you hire have not had as much experience as others and that was corrected so quickly and much sooner than I had hoped for. Also, there was no problem getting an answer from their customer service when I called about something I wanted to know. It's not terribly expensive, and I'm getting more savings than I expected.
Hi Sandra, We're so happy to hear that you're saving more than you were expecting and had a great experience with our sales, installation, and customer service teams. Thank you for going green and choosing Vivint Solar!

We were looking at the tax benefits of using solar energy and we spent so much on cooling our home during the summer here in South Carolina because of the heat, so we wanted to see if there was another way. My wife had Vivint contact her and enrolling with them went well. We had a new roof put on and then we had the panels installed and it seems like the panels are doing their job up there. The house is staying cooler, so they're absorbing most of the heat that's coming down or reflecting it, and so far so good. Overall, my experience with them has been very professional.
But my biggest concern thus far is trying to reach them. Number one because we did a direct withdrawal from our checking and I haven't received a statement yet from my bank. I wanted to talk to Vivint to make sure. They said it was going to start in July and I spoke to them when it was installed. It was the end of June or beginning of July when everything went bad. Number two, my wife and I have separated and I am in the home in which the panels were put on, so I need to transfer it to my name. I was told we got to wait for the first billing cycle. But when I tried to call the number that I was given by some gentleman, I can't get through.

I bought into the idea of solar. Who wouldn't want to pay 1/2 the cost of electricity each month? The problem is two fold. 1) When you go to sell your home nobody wants the home with solar (including the mortgage companies who have difficulty selling the mortgage with the solar attached to the home. The buyers consider it a hassle and the contract too complex to handle for 20 years. The only bids I have received are with the solar system removed. 2)When you request the system be moved (you can't buy the system out for 5 years), you get begin to work with the move team. Nobody took ownership of my request to get the system moved. It took 3 weeks and about 15 hours on the phone to finally get one person to take ownership. Two previous move agents did nothing.
Three weeks ago I requested to have the solar removed. My sales person had originally quoted the cost to move the system to my new home at around $2,500. The quote came in at $8,690. I was all set to pay the fee when the transfer dept called and stated that they might not want to transfer the system to my new home as it is their choice so I have to wait for a committee that only meets on Thursdays to approve the transfer. This is a total nightmare and the saga continues.

My sister-in-law and my brother got their solar panels up. They were talking about it when we went to visit them at their house. I’d seen some panels somewhere on their property. From what I heard from other people, it was costly in the past. I had some friends at work that paid up front or refinanced the installation. I then called Kyle, a Vivint Solar representative to give us an overall of the system. According to him, our bill shouldn’t be that high compared to what I was paying before. I’m hoping that this will happen for me so I'm waiting to get a full bill.
So far, it’s been okay except with the billing department. They misrepresented Kyle. He explained certain things like the way the process, the billing and how much I was going to be paying. When I contacted the billing department regarding some questions, they explained the opposite. So that was kind of misleading on their part.
I also spoke with Mack. He’s a manager and he said he was going to square things away with the billing department. They let me believe that what Kyle was telling me on the field wasn’t the truth. I was so confused that I was even thinking of canceling the contract. It’s not a very good impression the way things are being handled by the billing department. The only thing that I’m comfortable is what the representation that Kyle gave as far as what Vivint offers and how it would benefit me as a customer. Also, you don’t put money upfront for the system, the support that they do, and the work that they did is a great offer to me.

The only thing is we have had issues with my system because it's so big and I'm also having issues with the gas and electric company. But Vivint has been right beside me the whole time and they are handling things absolutely as promptly as they can. They told me what phone calls to make, who to contact and they followed up. We advised the salesman to use summer 2013 and 2014 historical use. Basically, typical consumption was 9,000 kwh annually excepting the year with the summer rental when consumption increased to 11,250. Contracts were signed, permits obtained, system installed and put into service in June 2016. As with any PPA contracts, summer production/expenses to us were higher than our PSEG bills. This was expected and we awaited the winter months lack of production to balance out our bill.
Once production through March 2017 was evaluated, it became very clear the production from the system was going to dramatically outpace the actual use by nearly 60%. The result was an increase in our energy expenses not a decrease. In going back through the reams of documentation we received, we realized the system was designed to produce 11,250 kwh annually (more than 25% greater than historic use). In actuality, the system produced 14,400 kwh (more than 60% greater than historic use). We contacted our salesperson, who repeatedly attempted to tell us we didn't understand how solar PPA worked.
We then contacted the Customer Service Department at Vivint and began working with Braden **, the customer service representative. I provided Braden with detailed documentation of the historic use of the system as well as statistical analysis to prove the system as designed and installed was oversized. Braden stated he needed to forward to the "exceptions committee" for consideration. Our requests were simple - either credit or refund funds paid for the exceptional system production and reduce the capacity of the system for the future. We made it clear to both Jarret and Braden to communicate above that no further payments were authorized until this issue was resolved. We removed the Vivint as approved automatic payment from Michelle's checking account, but not before Vivint put through another payment. This payment was after our discussions with Vivint's representatives.
What has occurred since has been ongoing follow up phone calls. At first, Braden attempted to state the system was properly designed at 11,250 kwh, but he was stuck on how that system could produce 14,400 kwh. Finally last month, Braden verbally committed to shutting off the monitoring on 7 panels (thus eliminating the invoicing for the production of those 7 panels) and capping the annual production billing at 9,000 kwh. He stated we would be receiving documentation for this shortly, but to date, no documentation has been received. We have begun receiving collections phone calls and the collections people have no interest in reviewing the outstanding issues. I have spent hours on hold waiting to speak with "supervisors" and/or "managers" with this company and have never been able to get through to anyone with authority.
Two weeks ago, we requested a proposal to straight out purchase the system and never have to deal with Vivint again, but we have not received any proposal for this. Basically, based upon the design issues and production of the solar array, Vivint's staff is either incompetent and fraudulent. I recommend staying away from Vivint Solar at all costs. Their sole purpose seems to be selling contracts and quality/responsive customer service seems to not even be on their radar.
UPDATED ON 08/24/2017: After my initial review, Vivint indicated on the site that they would be contacting either me or my fiance to resolve our issue. We are coming up on 4 weeks since that complaint, but to date, we have received no contact from any one in the company. I have filed a complaint with our County Office of Consumer Affairs. I wish we had never, ever gotten involved with this company. My advice is simple - STAY AWAY FROM VIVINT SOLAR!!!
Hi Raymond, We're sorry to hear that your system is over producing. We want to get this resolved as quickly as possible. Someone will be reaching out to you shortly to continue the resolution process. Thank you.

I wanted to work more on the direction of not being connected to the grid and I thought that having solar energy services was the first step. I liked the idea of solar energy and I've been toying with it for a number of years but enrolling with Vivint Solar was a long drawn out process. I've got a tub and lighting that I was putting in my backyard and so we submitted it as an upgrade and we wanted more panels than the energy that we were using. But we got turned down like four times before we went back and just submitted it on what we were using. We figured that we can just go back in the future to say why we need the upgrade.
The people at Vivint Solar have always been professional and easy to deal with. They are also very upfront and responsive. They told us when we started out to be patient because it might take a bit of a time and that was good advice. By the time I got the ball rolling things seemed fast. We’re really happy with the experience so far. I am recommending them to other people that I know. There were no surprises when we were going through the system. It has been as they described it and it has been an educational experience as well.

DONT GET VIVINT SOLAR. It's JUST ANOTHER UTILITY COMPANY. From the initial sales person, Daniel, who lied to me on how the system worked? He said If someone doesn't want the panels, it's STILL YOUR responsibly to pay for them in full, (Approx # 20,000). If you look at your contract, there is no mention of product cost. He said Vivint installers remove the panels and then install them at your new residence, and since they are paid off, with no more monthly payments. LIE. I spoke to the corporate office and they said NO, it's not how it works.
My Average electric payment with SCE, was $150.00 a month. I was told my bill would be about seventy or eighty a month. Now with Vivint, I pay an average of $142.00 plus 10.00 to SCE, so now I pay 152.00 a month, two dollars more. I had a construction job starting in October 2016, an addition to my house and I paid Vivint 499.00 to have seven (7) solar panels removed.
Vivint took forever to remove the panels about 1 ½ months. Then it's been almost seven (7) months and they still have not reinstalled them. I have called more than 20 times, to no avail. So, they finally scheduled an appointment for July 17, 2017, and it was a NO SHOW, NO CALL. Now, I'm on the phone right now with Vivint, speaking to supervisor, again.
In the meantime, I received a bill from SCE of $1,000.00, and Vivint not made any money from me since it's shut down. If Vivint's NOT interested in making money since they still haven't installed my panels, then they can take them all off and I'll find a company that is willing to work. I will file a complaint with the Contractors State Licensing Board, and all over SOCIAL MEDIA. I am also seeking attorney advice. On the positive side, most of their customer service reps were very understanding and professional. It just never translated to getting the panels reinstalled.

The cost of electricity in California is ridiculous. We looked into different solar companies and Vivint was the one that really stepped up and took the reins. It's pretty straightforward with them. They took care of everything for us, so we didn't have anything to do other than deal with our rep, Jeremy. I’m very satisfied with it. With Vivint, there’s reduction of cost in the monthly bill. They even offered an incentive if you signed up before last December. We also didn't have to pull any permits or deals with the city at all. The customer service team was excellent, too. Overall, the people at Vivint Solar are clean, courteous, fast and effective. It was a good experience all around and I have recommended them to friends. I’m a very happy customer.

I researched solar energy services about a year ago and asked for a PG&E consultation to see if I can do stuff to make my house more efficient. However, they sent out a person who couldn't answer anything I wanted to know and gave me stupid answers. He was so obnoxious and he really annoyed me. Everything he told me was way offline and I was turned off by it, so I didn't bother with solar energy until the salesman from Vivint Solar, Jeremy, came to my door and I talked to him. He was able to answer everything I wanted to know. He was so efficient and knowledgeable and I was pleased with him. He made enrollment an easy and painless process and told me everything we were going to do. He was here quite a bit talking to us, walking us through all the steps and it worked out really well.
We had a month gap from the time the system was put on until PG&E said we could go ahead and do it, and then we had a panel shut down, so we had to get that replaced. Vivint Solar came out and replaced the panel a few weeks ago. It looks like we're producing some good energy because I watch the meter all the time going backwards and I like that. Also, their customer service reps were great, courteous and I like them. Anytime I called and asked them anything, they're right on the spot. I'd recommend Vivint Solar. I already have a couple of friends who are waiting to see how this is going to work and, if that's the case, they're going to go in themselves.

I've been thinking solar for a while and a Vivint Solar representative showed up at my door. They came in, did all the paperwork and got the permits. I had to get in line and wait which I did twice because originally, they said I couldn't use the back side of my roof because there wasn't enough sun available there and they only did the front side. That time, they shoveled the roof, checked everything out and put it in. They had an inspector come in to make sure everything was okay and it worked out fine. I was using about two-thirds of my solar but a neighbor took down a tree. Then, they said that between the tree and the changes in the requirements, they could add some more solar to the back. And that should take care of the rest of a third.
I found this as the best opportunity, where I didn't have to spend all the money buying all the panels and spend whatever I have to produce my own electricity. This way, it worked out for both us. My panels produce the electricity, they take care of the panels and I don't have to worry about it. Then, they charge the electricity to my credit card and they get paid. I would recommend Vivint Solar and I hope it's still working in 20 years because I signed a 20-year contract. But we'll see how much they stay with their equipment and if they can stay in business for 20 years and provide the continued service.

When the Vivint rep talked to us about getting solar he said we could save money, they even took copies of our power bills to do some type of analysis. Of course they said we would save a bundle and maybe even get money back each year. They are full of crap. We get a bill of about 1500.00 at the end of each year and that's in addition to our monthly costs! Every time we call to complain they come up with another excuse, even to the point that we need dedicated more panels! Wait, I thought that was the reason for the initial survey to see how many panels we needed in the first place! SMH! So far no one has come out and it's excuse after excuse! What's worse is that I referred some friends who got screwed as well, plus we didn't receive the referral bonus they told us about.
If you are considering solar, please buy your own. DON'T SIGN VIVINT'S CONTRACT! They have made sure that they can't be sued or held liable for anything. I've spoken to several lawyers already and am in talks with a few more. Please do your homework and avoid this company at all costs. And don't get their security system either, another form of their scam. Their customer service is without a doubt the worse around. Again, STAY AWAY FROM VIVINT PERIOD!

I have kids who do online schooling, so we heavily use electricity in our home, whether it's to keep laptops charged and the internet connection up along with the TV and streaming. On average, we were spending at least $120 a month so we decided to look into solar energy services. We were hoping to help the environment, as well as have savings, which are the savings made after we've paid off the panels and we just have standard fees with rock amount of power. So far I'm satisfied with my decision.
The only item that I have right now that's different with Vivint from other solar vendors is the lack of reporting trends for the day. All I get when I log into my account is how much energy I've generated for the day, for the month and for the lifetime. I have other friends that have solar and they can pull up a direct report. I'd like to see that. I also want to be able to compare trends on days throughout the year. I want to know how the system is and how it's working. What I'm getting right now is very basic information and I want more. But I've heard that Vivint is working on getting the panel for the solar stuff sort of integrated with their security systems through the sky panel.
Going through the process, I had to act as a mediator between Vivint and the city in some of the things that we ran into. They've taken some lesson learned from the things that happened from getting the panels installed and activated. They're deploying that through as they try to bring other customers in. And they're making changes to make the process easier. They've been well to work with and have always responded. I'd recommend them.

They failed to show up for 2 appointments I had, on two separate occasions 6 out of the 31 panels weren't producing anything, but I just get told the system is producing. We have Vivint Solar and also the security system. We had such a good experience with the Vivint home security system. The door-to-door sales people and the installation people were all very professional. I really felt comfortable with them. Then we had an individual come by selling the solar, I felt the same way about him. He was very comforting and knowledgeable. That was one good reason why we went with it. I'm in the electrical industry, so I'm aware of the advantages of solar. It would save us a little bit of money and since there was no money out of our pockets, I thought, "Yeah, let's try it." And I’m satisfied that we did.
Enrolling for it was a good experience. The only downfall that I could see with the whole experience was it took so long. As soon as we signed up for it, they were out within a week and installed everything. But then it took too much time before all the paperwork and everything went through with SMUD. That becomes a bit frustrating. It took so long before we were able to throw our switch and start utilizing the solar. They did say that it was going to take a couple of months. Other than that, we had an excellent experience.

Vivint Solar big rip off and scam. His name is Darren. He is a Vivint rep who walked up to our home claiming the heat was getting to him. We had our garage door opened and said he could sit and cool off. He managed to sucker us into getting their solar. His great deal turned into more money out of our pocket. He lied and told us we had a 30 day money back guarantee. If we didn't see the benefits of solar they would come and take back their panels. No questions asked. After 2 weeks we were experiencing problems with the internet. Things just went bad. We were told that we had signed a contract with them and there was nothing we could do about it.
There was no 30 day and that was never discussed by Darren. To sum it up. We have to keep their panels on our house, always have internet for them and pay the same power bill plus pay vivint, and at the end of the year pay a true up bill of 800.00 dollars. Because they did not put enough panels on our home to give us any savings. Now we are told we will have to buy the extra panels from them. And that we will never do. Not giving vivint solar any more money. It's been 2yrs now and we have not seen any savings. We are just being robbed.

We signed an agreement with Vivint late summer 2016 to install solar panels. Our system was installed in late 4Q16 and finally turned on in 1Q17. As I write it is July 2017. Between activation and now we have experienced two outages due to problems with inverters. Both times we had an outage, we happened to notice the fault light outside and had to initiate a call for service. Both times the initial appointment time offered was over a month out. Both times the technician came and told us that he would have to come back because it was a two man job - which delayed repair for another two to three weeks. Both times I had to call to follow up on the initial appointment to get information about when they were coming back.
During these outages my solar panels were not producing energy but I am receiving massive bills from Vivint. My electric bill since having panels installed is doubled. I have called customer service repeatedly. A manager named Alphonso promised to call me back - that was over two weeks ago and I've left three messages. No one calls me back. I can't understand how Vivint claims that customer service is in their DNA when they only care about new installs. I would never want my friends or family to be treated this way so I will provide them with open and candid feedback every time Vivint is mentioned.
We want to apologize for the outages you've been experiencing. We want to get this taken care of for you. Someone from our team will be reaching out to you shortly. Thank you for your feedback!

Darren, our rep, explained everything, walked us through the process and made sure to check back every time someone came over, whether it was the engineer or it was the install guys.
While we were waiting for the system to get approved and turned on, we're getting regular updates and everybody from Vivint was very nice and helpful in making sure that we understood what was going on through the whole process. We haven't had to deal or think much because Vivint has been taking care of everything. We're also very, very satisfied going solar now that the first electric bill we got is lower. The system is producing enough energy for us to pay for itself while we're renting it. Overall, it's been a nice, easy and good experience with very little headache.

Our experience with Vivint Solar has not been completely positive and we’ve had frustrating times with them. A few years ago, a gentleman named Langdon came up to our door and talked to us about getting solar panels. At the time, we were not ready yet. Then about a year later, Langdon was in our neighborhood again. We waved him down and told him we’re ready. He signed us up to get our first set of solar panels on November 2013. The process went smoothly. However, the billing is confusing. We went through an adjustment to figure out how to pay our PG & E bill, but we did that without too much trouble. Langdon also mentioned that Vivint has alarm systems and we thought about that for a while. So when somebody came to our door representing Vivint alarm systems, we’ve decided to get their services too because, at that point, our experience with Vivint was positive.
Last year, their rep Tim asked us about our solar panels. We told him that we have a bit to pay and we’re not sure if we’re saving money. And he said, "Well, we need to take care of that. We need to add some panels to your house." We weren't sure we wanted to do that at first, but we decided to go ahead and add panels. We had an appointment for another set of panels to be put on our house in a few weeks, but the installers showed up a couple of weeks early and asked us if they can install the panels that day. They were polite about it and said, "If you don't want us to, we won't. But if it's okay with you, we'll go ahead and put them on today."
I asked them first where they are going to put the panels because we hadn’t seen the plans yet. The installer showed me the design for putting the extra panels on. And when I saw what they plan to do, I said, "No. I don't want to do that. I don't want panels on the front of our little house. It'll look like it's been swallowed up by solar panels because it's just small, 450 square feet.” Then the installer said, "Okay, no problem if you don't want it. We'll let them know that you don't want to have panels on the front of your house and then they're going to have to draw up another design. You'll hear from us later and that'll be fine." They were also going to put on an electric panel. We ended up with a lot of electrical work done and it took them several months to finally install the second set.
Vivint had asked us to sign a contract online. However, I can't read the contract online and we want to see the contract in front of us, black and white. We were getting messages saying, "Will you please sign this thing online?" Vivint kept pushing us and we couldn't respond back. I tried calling their customer service and that was to no avail. I also left messages a couple of times but I didn’t get answers back. We called Tim and asked him to come and bring the contract so we can read it before we sign. Tim came and went over the contract with us. My husband signed, so we're all good there.
Vivint also took a long time to get the second set of solar panels ready to go because everything had to be approved and checked. And I'm certainly glad that things had to be checked and approved. When I saw the email saying, "Okay, you can turn on them on now," I told my husband about it. So, we went out and turned the panels on but it didn't seem to work. We got a call from them telling us that the second set was not on and not working. They gave us a number to call and they said somebody would walk us through turning it on.
So we stood out there in the sun, trying to understand what the rep was referring to. He was very polite and patient with us as well. But we were nervous and we’re hoping that we're doing the right thing. They should’ve sent a tech out to turn the system on at least. It came to the point that the rep had to schedule a technician that would come out to turn the solar panels on. And we appreciated that. The technician they sent was a very sweet guy too. He showed us the box and what was going on. He also explained why the rep was confused on the phone. So we got the system turned on about a month ago and now, both systems are running together.
We’re paying three bills to Vivint—one for our first set of solar panels, one for our alarm system, and one for the second set of solar panels. They’re being billed separately and it’s complicated. When the second set of panels were charged, I got a message from Vivint that said, "Hey, we weren't able to process your charge card that you've given us to charge your bill to." For some reason, the second set of panels were being charged to the old number that we had used a long time ago before we changed it several months back. I gave Vivint the information on the new charge number before and everything had been working fine with the first set of solar panels. So I called Vivint and tried to get through. They always said we can change any information online, but since we’re in our 70’s, it makes me nervous to take care of business online.
I spent half an hour waiting on the phone to talk to somebody so I could give them a new charge card number, but I could not get through. I finally gave up. So we waited for them to figure it out on their own, that a different charge card number is what they should be using. Finally, we ended up getting a letter from Vivint about the card refusing the charge. It had a number to call, so I called them and gave them the new number. And the guy rep took care of it.
I am interested to see if we’re saving any money. I pay $100 now to Vivint and then we also pay our PG & E bill. This last month, our NEM charges are minus 63 and that's encouraging. Also, we still have a good deal going on with them because we didn't put out any money for our solar panels. It has also been a bumpy road with Vivint, but the people are great. It can be taxing to help us with technical and digital things considering us in our age, but everybody I've spoken with has been very polite, kind, and enjoyable to talk to. We have been recommending them until this last issue with the second set of solar panels. Though all of the kinks that have been coming up were annoying and some of them were unavoidable, I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly now.
We know that the solar process can be lengthly and at times a little confusing. My neighbor told me about solar energy services and Vivint, and it sounded like a good deal, so we got it. The enrollment process was easy enough and the representative explained everything. Then they came, put it in, cleaned up everything and then left. The experience has all been positive. It's been very helpful and hopefully our bill will go down. It's a win-win situation as far as we’re concerned and I've already recommended Vivint Solar to several people.

I learned about Vivint Solar from a neighbor and thought that it would be a good idea to help cost-savings and build value in my home. It was very easy to obtain, and I didn't have to put any money down. I got it easily financed. Enrollment was easy, simple and they were very hands-on. They were continuously here throughout the whole project. And I’m super satisfied. I'm not paying for electricity at all now. My house has gone up almost $50,000, so I'm able to get a new loan on my home. My home mortgage payment will be even lower than what it was before. I've recommended Vivint to a couple of people.

My husband has been interested in solar for quite a while. We decided to look into it because our electric bills were so high and we wanted to save some money. We thought it's a smart way to do it and help the planet too. Vivint Solar's salesman was very good at his sales pitch and we decided to go with them right away. They were fairly quick on putting the solar panels up but after that, things slowed down to a crawl and it took about six months before we were connected and used the solar panels. There was a lot of paperwork involved and a lot of stuff I had to do online. I have explained it right from the beginning that a lot of that stuff was hard for me. And there were a lot of phone calls back and forth. If it was someone our age, I wouldn't recommend it because it was too difficult to get into operation.
We got a fat bill from the electric company and a bill from Vivint Solar. It's not as good as we hoped it would be. I have talked with Vivint Solar enough times and they're very nice on the phone and somewhat helpful. But, it wasn't really explained to us or if it was, we didn't understand because of how many papers and things that had to be signed and there was an awful lot of red tape, which mostly came from the electric company. Vivint wasn't helping with this process. I suppose they're thinking they're losing money so they're not in any hurry to connect. Vivint could have been more helpful and they could have at least made the process go a little bit more quickly.
I got an email saying that Vivint needed to sign up for something but they hadn't done it yet. MassACA said they would discontinue our service. Vivint Solar said not to worry about it so I guess it was just a scare tactic. They didn't have to do it right away and so it wasn't a concern. But, it was to me because of the way the letter from MassACA was written. We were not well informed about all this. Every time we thought that we're going to be connected, something else would happen. Then the electric company came up and told us they couldn't change the meter because we needed to have an electrician come and secure the box of the house. That took a couple of weeks and everything delayed us more than I wanted it to.
Our salesman who has since been promoted probably doesn't care what happens now. He was very big on selling us a system and then after that, we never heard from him again. I sent him emails and that was disappointing. If he were promoted, someone else would have taken his place. He would have appointed someone else to help us out but that didn't happen. He dropped us like a hot potato as soon as we signed. They know this because I called and complained big time. I was disappointed. I expected more.
We're sorry that our process was not clearly explained to you. If you have any outstanding issues, please email us at socialmedia@vivintsolar.com, so we can help get them resolved. Thank you!

To save some money on my electrical bill we decided to look into solar energy services. The enrolling experience was good. Everyone who came to my house was very polite and cordial and they were good at what they did. The panels were installed for a total of seven months. It took a couple of months before anyone came out to install. It was snowing when they put them on. Then once they installed it, it took several months for them to get the approval from PNM for them to come and turn it on. It was a long process.
I didn't like the fact that they wanted me to turn the system on when it was installed on the side of the house. I said, "No, you come and turn it on. I'm not going to mess something up and then it'd be my fault." I tried to get in touch with Rory, the guy that sold it to me, about turning it on themselves and he’s never returned my calls. I’ve messaged him for four times to call me and that I have a couple of questions for him. He never made an effort to return anything.
They were going to do an automatic withdrawal for payment but I didn’t approve it. So I called them and I told them to remove me off of automatic pay and I would call in every month. So I called in on the exact date that it was due, on the 20th. It said that they were busy, so if I would leave my number, they would return my call. Four days went by and nobody returned my call. So I called again and made the payment over the phone. But it was still an eight-minute wait for someone to pick up. I got my first bill from Vivint and PNM, last month. I haven't seen any savings, it hasn’t changed at all. When I first got it, I was recommending it to everyone. Now, I mention that I have it but when I say I haven't seen any savings, they're like, "Oh thank god I didn't do it."

In October of 2016, my husband and I signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Vivint Solar. Our install was completed on 11/22/2016. When our system was still not operational in December, we called Vivint. They apparently had no idea the system had been installed, so no paperwork had been filed to commission the system. As of June 30th, our system is STILL not operational. The vast majority of our emails and calls have been ignored. We are moving and now can't even sell our house because it has a non-operational solar system on the roof. Worst experience I've ever had with any company. We requested they remove the system immediately 30 days ago... nothing.

There were several people doing solar energy services in my neighborhood and I thought it would be good for the environment as much as anything plus it would save me money. A Vivint Solar salesman came to my door, sat down, enrolled me and did all the work. It was all very easy. It’s done and working. It is our second month and so far, so good.

Vivint Solar's district manager came to the house one day. He asked if he could speak with me for a while. He was extremely well-mannered, very professional and very knowledgeable on the product that he was selling. There were several pluses with Vivint Solar. Number one is that they don't put a lien on your home for the cost of the equipment. It's very important to me in the event that I ever want to sell the house. There are no hang-ups with the cost of the equipment. Number two is there's a fee that you pay on a monthly basis but only for the power that you’re using. Essentially, it seemed that they're renting space on your roof in order to generate the electricity that's necessary for yourself and also the feedback to the local carrier.
It was a plus all the way. There was no initial outlay. Plus, it's green energy and it's saving a lot. The more people that have it, the better it is. I found it to be very good so far. The installers that put everything on the roof were some of the cleanest young fellows that I've ever dealt with. There was not one scrap of anything that was left behind. Everyone that I've dealt with from the Vivint company must have an excellent training program. Everyone whom I spoke with in the alarm phase of the products and then the solar phase of the products that they sell are very professional, extremely well-mannered, very willing to help in a situation. They're not like a bait and switch situation thing where all of a sudden you find yourself scrambling around trying to find out answers to questions. They’re very professional as far as they have service follow-up, which in this day and age is very important.
I’ve recommended them to two friends and both them also installed Vivint Solar. They’re satisfied. I had dinner with one of those friends last evening and they said that their existing electric company's bill went down to nothing. The Vivint Solar bill was extremely low in comparison to their normal regular bill with the local power company. We're out on Long Island in the suburbs of New York and our electric company's fees and kilowatt charges are very expensive because there's no nuclear and no subsidies anywhere. It’s like you’re really paying through the nose for everything. Their bill went down to nothing. They cut their bill by 50%, and that's significant.

We had two places that my stepdad had done by Vivint Solar and both contracts ran at the same time. My dad told me that it was supposed to be less money off his pocket, eventually. Because my dad is older, I supported his effort to go ahead and take care of the solar systems. I was in the process of recovering from open heart surgery at the time, so I had three months of recuperation and I helped him with the situation with Vivint.
We have an issue that still hasn't been resolved. They installed one of the ground wires in the ground rod right at the front of the door. And when they drove it in, my father came out and tried to walk out the gate leading to the backyard to where the panel is, and he tripped on that. They should have left no less than a 36-inch separation from either a box or something nailed out on the floor with no protection. That's the code so that there's no danger of it being run into or tripping anybody and I know that because I'm a trained IBEW electrician.
Then they had a guy come out to deal with the connection of the solar panels to the main box after they changed out the box and he was supposed to fix it but he didn't have the proper drill bit to install the hole. So, he went ahead and put a planter on top of that ground rod, mostly so people could see the planter. But the situation has not been rectified. It has to be at least 18 inches further away from the door to alleviate that problem but it hasn't been done up to now. That was his first project and he has a few going on. He promised they were going to do it but they're a distance away. So now my stepdad's got to worry about anybody that comes to visit him and anyone that goes out that door will be falling down.
A different department had sold it and promised to have it done. But then nobody would come back and fix it at this point. My main issue is that they had a lot of different departments that deal with different stages of the game, such that they had trouble keeping track which one was which. Sometimes, the communication wasn't very good either. They were supposed to communicate something to a different department but the installation would not be done. A lot of times they'd call us up and they would be in the southern section and they'd have to travel to the northern section to do something. They were short in communicating with us and we've even had to go north about an hour away to catch an installer. In general, though, the communication skills were good with another part of the company. As far as service, it's very good as well and my stepdad seems to be happy at this point.
We apologize that the issue with the ground wires hasn't been fixed yet. We'd like to make sure this gets handled. Can you please email your stepdad's address to socialmedia@vivintsolar.com? From there, we can work to get this resolved. Thank you!

I thought solar energy might be a good idea to save me money in the long run. Vivint Solar's enrollment process was simple and my interactions with their reps were good. But I had one question and they weren't able to answer because it had to do with the licensing of the solar panels. So, I ended up having to call the panel company and get the information from them. I've only had solar energy for two months but as of now, I'm 100% satisfied I got Vivint Solar because my bill is lower. It’s a great company to work with. They are very informative and they helped me get through the process.

Great service, quick install, intelligent sales representative (Dallin **). It's not too good to be true. No cost, just get cheaper power from day 1! We love it! From the day we met our sales representative to the day we got installed, it only took about 4 weeks from start to finish. Thank you Vivint Solar!

I've been thinking about solar for years. The Vivint Solar salesman, Kevin was explaining to me what the program was and it was doable. So we got involved with the way the payment system was set up. So far we are very happy. However, I live in Florida seven months out of the year and I live in Pennsylvania 5 months out of the year. I'm in Pennsylvania right now, so the system is generating power but I'm not using it. I'm supposed to be getting credits which I'll probably discover when I get down there in October. But I can track it on my phone. I did one day and they said the system was down, it wasn't recording and they fixed it. So, I'm very pleased with it and I thought about getting it for my house in Pennsylvania. Kevin said that it’s possible.
I got one bill but the system was just turned on. I'll have to pay my first bill on July 5th and then my electric bill comes on the 10th. That's the first one that I'll see that says about getting credits. It's producing 8 kilowatts one day and on another day it was producing 12 kilowatts. I like that feature. The customer service staff is knowledgeable and very cooperative. Therefore, I've been pleased. As a matter of fact, I've been watching their stock and I'm thinking of buying. It's been excellent and I recommended it to my neighbor.

We’ve always wanted to go solar and we just had Vivint Solar's services turned on. It’s a good thing to have solar but I don’t know yet what the cost is gonna be compared to PNM. Also, it’s better for the environment. The people who we had contact with were very nice, courteous and professional. But there were issues between Vivint and PNM. And it was transferred over to the customer in some way. They just weren’t working together well at first, but they are now better. So there were some speed bumps but it wasn’t all Vivint’s fault that things didn’t happen the way it should. And in the end, everything went well.

We wanted to help the environment and we also wanted to save some money in the process so we figured solar would be the way to go. We had a good set up with our house and not many trees around so it seemed like the right thing to do. We were dealing with another company and it didn't work out. I was doing some research and it looked like Vivint was one of the top five residential solar companies and the way to go for residential solar. I ran into a buddy from college who was working for Vivint and then we got the solar panels set up. The reps were very knowledgeable, informative and they made it easy to go through the process. We're also updated the whole way through. Overall, Vivint has excellent solar options, affordable cost and great people.

I've heard of Vivint Solar plenty and a couple of my neighbors have Vivint Solar but Stirling came around the house and that's how I started being interested in getting it. Solar is a good deal all around and the guy offered us something that we couldn't refuse. Enrollment was really easy. Stirling walked us through it all and I didn't really have an issue with that. Also, every interaction I had with Vivint even with the alarm has been good. They're pretty professional and a change of pace with most people that come knocking on your door. Everything was smooth and it's been great, so far.
