Vivint Solar did a door to door in my area. I wasn’t going to sign up with them, but they offered up a signing bonus and I reconsidered. The salesperson was top-notch in terms of wanting to track down answers for me and allay any fears or concerns. We’ve been turned on since mid-June and he just came by to see how everything was going.

I have positive feelings about the local customer service guys. But they were vague and there was a fair amount of time when the left hand didn’t know what the right hand was doing. However, during the enrolment, I felt pressured. The salespeople were probably under a certain amount of duress to get people signed up. There was also a fair amount of left hand not knowing what’s going on with the right hand to be done. They changed the design after I signed the contract on the panels and didn’t tell me until they went out to put them on. And they wanted to move some from the front to the back. So, I called and spoke to my salesperson who picked up on the fact that they changed the number of panel and I didn’t pick up on that.

They installed two fewer panels than what was on the contract. They had to come back and do another installation which took entirely too long in my estimation given the fact that they were trying to get us booked before December 31. It wasn’t until February when they came back to install the additional panels that they inadvertently didn’t put in the first place which then pushed everything else back. Having this as their mistake, they should’ve found a way to get out here sooner.

Also, I have an issue with respect to the conducting of business generally. They told me I had to have an auto debit from my account in order to pay which I refused since I’ve had a bad experience with that. I had to give them my bank account number which I wasn’t comfortable with and a copy of my deposit slip upon signing up. Then, it was very difficult to get it stopped. Yet I was told that I had to do it since that was what it said on our contract. I read the contract and had a whole bunch of questions, some of which neither my salesperson nor the person he called to consult with me had ever been asked before. One of those was based on the contract that I didn’t have to auto debit and that I could write them a check. But then, the only way was to give them my bank account.

After I did that, they said I could go in and take out that information once I set up my online account and I would not get billed until my system was turned on. It was a little bit of a hassle because they didn’t need it in the first place. I called customer service to figure out how to get into where I take out the information out. The software system is not very intuitive and I had to go through a process that I’m enrolling in something to go in to be able to take the information out.

I had to call customer service to figure out how to even get into where I take out the information out. I actually had to go through a process that I’m enrolling in this to go in to be able to take it out. The software system was not very intuitive.

After I took the information out, I started getting auto emails from them saying that they noticed that I took the information out and that I better replace it because that was part of the contract. Then when I get turned on, I got an email saying I got a bill. But when I looked at it, there was no statement. There was apparently a communication issue or they thought they proactively sent me an email saying, “We’re coming out to take a look at your system after it’d been turned on because we’re getting a code from your inverter.”

I followed up and said, “Explain to me how this works. I need to understand how you find this out.” I got some good information from a tech person who took the time and explained how I could read the production stats on the website. The guy came out, said there was nothing wrong and that it didn’t communicate until next week. But they couldn’t tell me why it wasn’t communicating. It’s not that it wasn’t producing power anymore but it was not telling Vivint it was producing power. And that was the time I was trying to pay my bill. Someone then would have to come out which could take another three days for someone to schedule to come out and fix the problem.

Apparently, all my historical information was gone. So, I had nothing to marry my bill to. They said, “It’s still there. You just see it through a different portal than what we see it.” But I said that I wasn’t paying until I could marry it up with statistics that I could see. The guy then came for problems which they thought were there but it turned out there weren’t.

And then, a whole week after it had been communicating, which was not because of what the guy did, it stopped which I found out when I was trying to pay my bill. I said, “How is it that the fact I’m not communicating isn’t popping up on some operations person, an exception report on a daily basis, that this has been for eight days now that there’s been no communication?” They said they had a ton of customers. I know there could be a number of reasons why something couldn’t rectify itself and that only until they get to a certain number of days could they start paying attention that maybe there is a problem. So I had to, on a much more interim basis, log in and see if everything was okay which as a little onerous for the consumer to do.

Another thing of note is that they have a third party billing group that handles the invoices and payments, and that their website makes it look like it’s them, because it’s a seamless interface. There is no mechanism through this third party billing for me to pay online without being enrolled and having something stored for auto pay. So, after I got through all this, took my stuff out, got someone to email me an invoice because I couldn’t communicate, I went back in to try to pay my bill, I couldn’t do it without putting in the information and re-enrolling in auto pay. So, I ended up calling the billing department and paying manually.

On the other hand, I also had extenuating circumstance after the panels were installed but before we got the permission to turn it on. I found that I had moisture behind my siding in one area. So, I replaced all of my siding. That became a little problematic since the panels had already been installed on the roof. It didn’t impact the siding, but all the piping coming down from the panels down to the fuse box is on the side of the house, and the inverter box. They had to come off the house in order for the siding folks to be able to put the new siding on. I thought that it was gonna be a huge deal and that they were gonna charge me to come out and do that, but they didn’t. So, I was pleasantly surprised at that.

Based on the things that we’ve been through just to get turned on and to get things situated with them, if I could do it over again, I wouldn’t because it wasn’t worth the signing bonus. With respect to the ongoing savings versus the electrical, it’s too soon to tell because I’ve only had one bill with them. And although my experience with the people that I dealt with has been, by and large, very positive, the fact that I had to speak to as many people as I’ve spoken to was not. They’re probably not just adeptly equipped to deal with a paralegal such as myself. Nevertheless, I’m hopeful as to the savings that I would realize since it’s too soon to tell. And although my ongoing relationship with Vivint has been a little up and down, it will now become seamless.

My representative is going above and beyond to make sure our system is working.

    Original Review: Aug. 17, 2018

We had a salesman come to our door. He was extremely pushy. He would just show up without calling first. Once they installed the panels I was out of the state, and the Vivint representative made an appointment to have the city inspector and their crew member show up at my house. The representative never spoke directly with me on the phone and never got my consent for anyone to go on my property. Luckily I had my husband make it home in time to make sure our dogs were safely put up. If he wasn't home they could of let my dogs out and I would of been heartbroken. When I told our sales rep he goes oh, most houses' electric panels aren't behind a gate. No I'm sorry, or I will call them and let them know they need consent.

So far, I’m happy with what’s going on with Vivint Solar. I liked the rep that knocked on the door. She seemed to know what she was doing. It was just hit at the right time. Enrolling was easy. From first agreeing to the point where I turned the system on, the process took four months. However, we’ve been operational for three months now and I’m not getting the information that I would like to get. I can find out how much has been produced but I don’t know how much I’m using and how much is going back into the grid, which should be on the billing statement. I also thought I would get reimbursed for what goes into the grid. Other than that, everything has been fine.

We had a Vivint Solar salesman come to our house. He was cold-calling and noticed our house had a very nice roof, and the way that it was placed, it was getting sun all day. And by chance, we were thinking of going solar. We had a few friends that had done it and we had noticed also that in such a road that we live, there were quite a lot of houses that had already put panels on. That led us to think that now would be the time to go solar and so far, we are very satisfied with our decision.

The whole experience was great and everybody was very knowledgeable and professional. We've been very pleased with everything, from the salesman that we have met with, right up until the people who installed the solar panels, and anybody that called the house. We've got the pool and we have a band that practices in our cellar. We also got air conditioners and I'm at home all the time now, which I wasn't in the past. Our electric bill at this time of the year would have been over $300 and it's now less than half of that. Our invoice for August was $151 and it's a big difference.

I received the amount of money I owe Vivint by email, which is fine as it's more efficient and email for me is perfect. But when I looked on my account on their website, I couldn't find the explanation for the 102.71 and what it represents. It would be beneficial if they can have one tab where they detail bills exactly. Also, it’s too long between the time they finish the installation and the time they are coming to check or to install the second meter. Other than that, I am quite happy to see what I produce every day. Vivint works quite efficiently.

The rep I dealt with was excellent and the enrollment process with Vivint Solar was very easy. They did all the work and all the permits. I just had to sign at the dotted line. It was very simple and they met every deadline. They were great. They did the installation in one day and they showed me everything. Everything was outdoors also so they didn't have to come indoors. It was a great experience and I would recommend them. It's only been a month that it's active and so far, I've been very satisfied with my decision to go solar. My first bill came and it was summertime so it looks like the bill was cheaper. They told me there would a 30% savings and it looks like there is.

A month and a half into being with Vivint, the experience has been great so far. However, the main reason I went solar is for the billing and I'm really shocked at how high my bill was and the energy for this month. I didn’t realize that the bill for Vivint would be going up and down, but enrolling with them was easy and their customer service team has always responded quickly. We got the equipment installed within a month but it took a long time until I was able to use it. But the hang up was with the energy company. They only have one person for all of Las Vegas to okay the system, and that wasn't Vivint's fault.

I've been happy with Vivint Solar. I looked into SolarCity and another provider at the start, but Vivint was having a promotion that happened to be good then. I have two accounts with them. The first account, the panels were done almost two and a half years ago. Then, another gentleman came and said that they could put more panels on the south-facing side because of the new Massachusetts lines.

During the enrollment, what Vivint did was very good. They were very timely. However, the whole process was slow, although it wasn't all of Vivint's fault. I know that most of it was making appointments with the city inspectors and them wanting certain things from Vivint. The original setup was almost five months from when I signed up, and the last time, it took two and a half months for the add-on. And it was because it wasn't a full inspection and they did not need to do the rafters again.

The installation team that came was excellent. Also, the techs have been very professional any time they've been here. However, it seemed like I put on these new panels and I'm paying more. I've been meaning to call Vivint Solar because I noticed that the bills were getting higher. I know I paid them so much that's being produced, but I thought I would see more credits from the electric company. I also don't understand why I'm getting only one billing instead of two.

Had solar panels installed at our house in fall of 2016 with promise of service by January of 2017. Due to sheer incompetence and lack of interest by company employees, there was no urgency to get PECO (our energy provider) to visit our home to finalize the programming. We spent 2 winters with monthly bills in the $1000/month range from PECO. We did not get solar service at our house until July of 2018 and only after a complaint we filed with BBB. Tellingly we had a PECO agent at our house within 48 hours of our accepted complaint to the BBB. We felt we were hostages to their ineptitude since we had allowed the panels to be installed. My wife and I are longtime residents and family practice physicians in our community with an extremely busy practice. We would never refer ANYONE to Vivint Solar.

The solar reps were saying that they'll be saving me some money so I explored that idea and got two solars from Vivint. The system works but those things that they promised that I will make and I will save are not as much as what they had promised. Nevertheless, getting the system was easy, exciting and fun.

To be fair, my electric bill was greatly reduced. I loved being Solar. However, I told salesperson I was moving next year when I was considering signing up and he told me it was 495 dollars to move the equipment... "Don't worry". I should have read the 27 page document. Now I am trying to move and I have an option of 32,000 to buy out contract or thousands to move equipment. And there is a Lien on my house. They call it a UCC but it IS a lien. I have tried to get arbitration as they require in contract and they don't call back. I speak to nice people who give me numbers and tell me to call and... No reply. I've left numerous messages for Legal... No reply. I emailed... No reply. I've spent hours on hold attempting to resolve without a lawyer. I'm now out of options, can't sell my house, can't move until resolved.

James, a Vivint Solar sales rep came to the door and he was a super nice, young man. We talked and we told him we were told that we couldn’t put the system on our roof. Way back, an individual came and said they couldn’t put solar on our roof because we had a very good roof. It was a brand new roof but it was lightweight tiles and if they stepped on it, they were gonna break the tiles. James said they could put the system. He talked to us, convinced us and we went with them. We told Vivint about the roof and they said they’d be very careful. They broke the tiles and had to replace 90% of the tiles. So not only do we get solar, we had gotten a nice little roof, which we love.

We're very satisfied with Vivint Solar and they are unbelievably good, but there have been a few times where we wished that they had gotten it moving faster. We have two systems. The first system was up and running in four months, but we’re not hooked up to the second system yet. We haven’t got it working until maybe next week and it has been months. Plus, once they get it going, they still have the city to worry about. Other than that, they’ve been perfect.

John, a representative, came around while they were hooking up the system until we had gotten settled down. He’s a really good rep and not a politician. When we called him, he would get back over here and we would talk about what was going on. We tell friends that they should give Vivint Solar a good look and to have John come by and explain the system to them. It cuts our cost in half and they’re not charging us anything. You can’t beat that.

We're retired citizens, but it worked out. The bill is definitely lower than what it would be. I was granted a loan through the Hero program in June 2017 for a substantial amount to cover the cost of solar plus a back up battery. Everything went smooth and by August 2017 everything was just about in place. So In September 2017 Hero paid Vivint Solar in full for the work. I was told that I would be operational anywhere from 4 to 17 weeks after install. So I waited, and I waited, and I'm still waiting as of July 27, 2018. I have reached out to so many people including CEO David Bywater. But mostly with the advocate team, which is a dead giveaway that this company has problems.

My first annual payment is due Nov. 1, which is 15 months after install. And since the Hero program is tied to my escrow, I have no choice but to make this payment or risk losing my home. I think Vivint Solar takes advantage of that fact and doesn't want to offer me any kind of help towards my bill. Had my solar been running since January 2018 like I was told this would be a non issue, but I feel like Vivint Solar is taking advantage of the situation. In my opinion Vivint Solar is committing fraud by selling me a product that a year later is not even working! So I urge anybody thinking about Solar to find another company, any company, please. This whole experience has turned Into a nightmare.

Vivint’s sales agents are great. They have an amazing customer service. They really show you they care about helping you save money by going solar. But it only lasts until you sign the contract, when you have issues all they do is transfer you from department to department and all the agents have something different to tell you. It's like if the agents were making the rules and policies as they please. Now the secure system is always crashing and all they offer is troubleshoot and reboot the devices and everything stays the same. Honestly I don’t recommend Vivint at all. I can show pictures of my utility bills and my Vivint bills if anyone thinks I’m lying.

Updated on 07/31/2018: So as I was saying before this agents just be telling you a bunch of lies just to get you out of their way. Been trying to fix some bill problems that I have since I’ve been paying way more than before I went solar, I still be getting crazy bills from the utility company and the funny part is that Vivint agents say that’s between me and them.

I called utility company and I was explain how my panels were not producing enough energy for the house, so I decided to call Vivint and have them resolve this and I’m still waiting. Riley the resolutions lead “was helping me out" but the phone call crashed. Haven’t heard from them ever since. Called back and tried to reach out to her and too busy. They say they will call back. Nothing has happen yet. SO LOOK PEOPLE. DON'T GO SOLAR WITH VIVINT. If you come across any issues they won't care about solving it even though they say they do. I'm going through that right now. Believe me when I tell you.

One of Vivint Solar's sales reps, Shawn, came to our house and he was awesome. Though we were already thinking about going solar for a while, when Shawn talked to us, we decided to do it. Since getting their panels, our payments have been lower but the power has been the same. One time, we were gonna call because we have pigeons up on our roof and we’re hoping they don’t nest underneath the panels. We were wondering if there was anything they could do to put a screen or if I would have to be the one to do that. Still, our experience with the company has been great thus far.

I have had the panels on my roof for 5 years now. The first two years were okay. In spring of year 3, I noticed that my gutters were pulled off of the house a bit. So I climbed the latter and tacked them back up. On year 4 same thing happened, so this time I paid to have them professionally fixed. I kept an eye out over the winter and noticed that when the snow melts on my roof it slides off the panels rather quickly and damages the gutters. I called Vivint Solar to let them know of the problem. On that call I was advised that the snow guard can fix this problem but it will be an additional charge. At that point I made an argument that this should have been brought to my attention at the time of install. The damage that was done to my home was the fault of Vivint. The manager then told me that snow damage will not be covered by them.

I was totally against solar and had no intentions of ever having it until a Vivint Solar representative gave me a different understanding of it. He also offered to me something that I could not have afforded had the plan been the norm where you have to buy and care for the panels or lease them. Then during the enrollment, I never thought that I was going through any formal situation. I didn’t feel like I was signing my life away or getting into something that was that I would later regret. Instead, it was like a conversation on how it would go.

So far, I'm very pleased. I even have four friends who got the service because of my feelings about it. But the biggest flaw in the system is that every installer tells the customer something different and it had been very confusing. In some cases, it even caused me anguish. When my installer installed the system, he told me that he had turned it on and that I should leave it on until all the paperwork was done. On the other hand, the installers expressed to my friends that, absolutely without exception, were they to turn the system on until every i was dotted and every t was crossed. I felt like I didn’t do anything wrong ‘cause I followed what my installer said. But my friends were frustrated that they couldn’t turn theirs on. It created some friction between my friends and I have been real unhappy about that.

Also, when the first two of my friends had all passed and were done with the formalities of filing, I called Vivint Solar's line and it said right on there that if you recommend anyone and they do get the system, you're due a bonus. I called about it and Vivint Solar confirmed that they had that system in place and said that I would be refunded. But the young man, whom my original contract was with, said that it would come out of his commission. So I had to call Vivint back and they said no. There is a policy in place for the bonuses to come from the company.

With the first two people that I recommended, it took six months from the time that they started the process before I got the bonus. There were so many places where Vivint Solar dropped the ball. I had to call and ask about the bonuses or I would have never gotten them. And it’ll probably be 2019 before I get paid for the two newest ones. That has to be really looked at. If they're offering this kind of an incentive but you have to wait six months for the incentive, that is not acceptable. That is my frustration.

If not for the free installation, I wouldn't have done Vivint Solar. Enrolling with them was a lengthy process, but that was because the city inspector and PG&E inspector had to come by at some point and double check everything. So all in all, it was still workable. However I found it very difficult to maneuver their website. For first time users, it’s very complicated. I’ve had trouble logging in a couple of times and it's been difficult to find out how much I owe from month to month. But I guess the more I've dealt with it, it has become simpler. Also, I've already gotten two bills since I've been with the company and the savings has been minimal. That would be a negative thing if you had to pay for the installation. I would recommend that people talk to a Vivint Solar salesperson and get all of the information.

Doing solar benefits the environment, so I started researching about it and I kept thinking that I'd do it if I was gonna stay in the house. Vivint came around the neighborhood several years ago and we were thinking about selling our house. Felix was going up and down the street talking to people about solar and I said to him that I was interested in it, but I was getting ready to sell my house. He said to give them a call if I reconsider about selling my house.

So, I watched some of my neighbors had it done. I asked my neighbor across the street how doing solar helped him compared to electricity and he said he is only paying 12 cents for his kilowatt, whereas before, he was paying 19 which is a big difference. Also, their electric company sends them bills that says they're storing $80 worth of electricity for them since they have bad winters, so the electric company will have to start putting electricity back where the solar can’t. Then, I couldn’t find another house that I like, so I decided not to sell. I went across the street, got the phone number and I called the person. I said I was interested in having solar put on my house and he said they would send somebody over to talk to me.

John came and he explained everything to us. He said they'd do a satellite image of my roof and he'd come back with whatever the engineer’s design for my roof. He came back and showed us the design for the front of the house. I said that my house gets full sun all around and he said he would take it back to them and see what else they could do. Thereafter, he came back and he showed me the design again. He said I'd have panels on the front and on the back, and people would be coming around and check if the attic could sustain the weight of the panels. They'd go to the city and get all the permits that they need. Then, they would notify my electric company, and they would have to come and change my meter. He said they would take care of all that and the electric company would call me and tell me that they would be coming or send me an email saying I'm all set.

I had gone to these home shows and I had talked to people about solar, and I had asked them how it works. One guy said they'll come in, assess my house and they'll tell me what is best for me. I asked him what if I decide to sell my house and he said it would not work since their contract is with me, but they could put the panels to the new house. However, he's not giving me the answers that I want and he doesn’t seem that interested, so I’m moving down. On the other hand, John was able to answer all the questions I asked. I asked him what if I decide to sell my house after I’ve decided not to sell it, and he said that the service is transferable.

Hi there. I'm writing this to let everyone who is reading reviews about Vivint Solar to stay away. We had them install the panels in July of 2014. We ended up with an issue with mold due to poor installation. My attic is infested with black mold and my a.c handler as well to the point where it was condemned to use. We discovered this issue in December of 2017 and we were in contact with Vivint immediately to have them fix the issue and they kept on giving us a runaround for 3 months costing us 4,000.00 to try stopping the mold from coming through our bedrooms and bathrooms.

We been having really bad allergies, respiratory issues for quite some time not knowing what was the cause of these issues, now it's all starting to make sense to why we are all have these medical issues - it's due to the infestation of the mold. We have sent them letters from our physicians explaining the severity of the medical issues and they still haven't reached out to us to try to help us. We are in July and still no contact from them so we hired an attorney to help us resolve these issues. Mind you, we tried doing this directly through Vivint without seeking counsel and they just kept stringing us along. Have tons of pics that I wish I could share on here.

So we went ahead and had it put on and it saved us a lot of money. I didn't like the door-to-door salesman from Vivint Solar, but he made a point of not lying to us. Whatever he said, he did, and they’ve been great ever since. When we had a building put in and we needed solar hooked up to that, Vivint came in and they did it. At that time, everybody was buying it, so I didn’t pay much attention to it until a salesman from Vivint Solar came to my door. He could’ve been a car salesman as he was a little pushy. I’m a dealer too, so I know how to push back. But otherwise, I understood where he was going, and they had to retrain everybody about solar. I was glad that we got along finally, and everything was fine.

On our first month, we’ve already saved $100, so that’s a big plus. Also, it turned out all right for us. My only concern is--since Vivint is primarily a security company, I hope they hang around. I’m a security manager for over 30 years and I know about security companies where they come and go. And I’m very happy with Vivint. In fact, everybody around me who saw me put the system up, they’re putting up theirs as well.

We had a Vivint Solar salesman come to the door one day and I gave him the brush off but he was pleasantly persistent. He didn't pressure me but when he started giving me the details on going solar, it seemed like a good deal. The salesman, Richard, tried to tip the account up in November. And in January, they came out and did installation towards the end of January. By April, the city came out with their inspection and they passed it. Then further along the end of April or May, the electric company, PNM, came out and they failed it twice for some dumb reasons because the meter was too high. And when they came out one time, it wasn't turned on and Vivint won't turn it on which was stupid. They turned it on last June ninth and they put the meter in less than five months.

They installed it and they were up almost all day and it was good quality work that they did. I contacted Vivint about the receipt. It's a flat roof that they put them on and the panels are like a regular kind of roof so, there is a little spot that they get under there. Vivint said that if I see a problem, they gave me a quote like pigeons proofing around the panels, they will keep an eye on it.

Vivint’s customer service was more than helpful but they could be clearer that I would pay the amount of power that it generates. It could have been explained a little better. I don't have a $30,000 to loan out on solar panels. So far, I got my first PNM bill with the solar subtracted and it was like $89, which at this time of year I'd pay PNM about $350 with subtracted money. They haven't taken it out of my account yet but I saw the Vivint bill was gonna be like $96. So, for $180 compared to $350, I think I made a wise decision. Also, this time of the year, we’re using so much for air in a 100-degree weather and I could overdraft it but Vivint could save me 50%. All in all, I would recommend Vivint Solar.

The recent experiences with Vivint Solar have shown me how inept and incapable this company is at providing basic customer service needs. They are not only scamming people, but deceiving people into signing 20 year contracts. In May 2018 we needed to have our roof repaired. Vivint Solar charged $500 dollars to have the solar panels removed and stored. We were unaware we would be charged this amount. The original sales representative that came to our house, Adam ** (who currently does not work with the company), assured us that if we needed the panels removed Vivint would do it free of charge. Vivint Solar denied this claim and so we were stuck with the $500 bill. It's whatever because we needed to have the panels removed for our roof to be fixed.

Getting a team of installers to visit the house to remove and re-install the panels has been mind-numbing insanity. Their schedule windows are never in a few days or week. Rather 3-4 weeks or sometimes months even if there ever is an emergency with the panels or your ceiling starts. At this time I was scheduled to have the panels put back on July 18th 2018. It is now July 20th and after countless calls we still DO NOT have our panels on our roof.

For the past two months I haven't been getting any solar energy and I'm stuck with a bill from both the electric company and from Vivint. I am losing money for every day the panels aren't up. We are unable to do anything because we are tied into the 20 year contract and to remove the panels completely requires us to buy the panels from Vivint outright. Working with Vivint makes me not want to deal with another solar panel company. I like to think that not all companies act like Vivint Solar and treat their customers with respect.

She refused of course, and told him, "Just show me your info or give me a brochure but you certainly are NOT coming IN." He said "I understand because you don't know me." And then still attempted to come in. She again told him he could share info with her but not enter. He insisted he needed to be invited in to "sit down with her at a table" - she told him that was ridiculous. He could show her from the tablet in his hand. He kept saying he just wanted to sit at a table so she told him she was no longer interested.

He got mad and walked away saying "well we don't need people to be interested." What kind of sales rep demands entry after he just showed up on the doorstep? (It's certainly not the same as when a homeowner contacts a business first and ASKS for a rep to come out.) There is absolutely no reason that he should try to insist on gaining entry. If your people can't carry a clipboard or just leave info because you "don't need people to be interested" then stop knocking on doors.

The enrollment process with Vivint Solar was very quick, and I was surprised. Their BBB reviews say that Vivint Solar takes about four months to get connected, but, for me, I didn’t feel that way. The process still took longer but it depended on the electric company. I had ECE and they sent me the paperwork that Vivint Solar was approved, so everything was okay and it took a little over two months to get it turned on. I’m glad that I have it on. However, nobody has explained to me how this works and I didn’t get a follow-up phone call. And when I wanted to look at my bill, it just shows the amount, and I don’t understand it.

So far, my experience with Vivint Solar is okay, but their customer service sucks. I called one time trying to find out how to read the kilowatt online because I didn’t understand it. When I log in, I wanna know what kW/h means. The rep said, “I don’t know.” I asked how I am supposed to understand all of this and she said she wasn't sure. I asked if she could give me a brochure, but she said that they didn’t have anything. It was useless. I called and tried to understand their online, but no one could help me, not even a tutorial nor a pamphlet.

Normally, online stuff is easy to figure out but their statement does not state from what day to what date. I couldn’t open anything, so it’s something that needs to be improved. The customer service also needs to be more informed about their company because they work for solar. I was asking a simple question to help me understand and to guide me understand step-by-step the online, but I couldn’t get that help. I had cousins asking me how it goes and I told them that I don’t know if this works for me, although I hope it does. Also, in the beginning phase, the guy who came to my house was very knowledgeable, nice, and honest, but after he left the account to Vivint Solar, they just fell apart from there.

My bill last month was around $177. But it’s supposed to be cheaper since I have Vivint Solar. I tried to understand the billing, but when they added the second set of panels, I didn’t understand how my bill was so much higher than it was and how I would be saving any money doing it. The Vivint Solar reps that I've talked to are good. But the last person I spoke with in billing seemed bothered by my question. Then I was also under the impression that they would come out and clean the panels, but they said that they don’t do that. So now, I have to go to an outside company to come by and clean the panels. I’ve had Vivint Solar for several years now and I’m not satisfied at all. But the other solar company that I spoke with had a little higher rate than them.

Vivint's representatives were excellent, and things are going good. I just had to understand why I'm still paying two bills. My BG&E gets lowered and eventually over peak seasons, I have to pay Vivint. And it helps to build up. I explained to them that I'm paying bills to them and to the BG&E company together, and it was more than what I was paying before. And, I thought it would go down. It did went down but then, it came up. I'm okay with it, but I still want to see more of an improvement because I was on Budget Billing before with BG&E and I was fine with that. But by Vivint telling me that this would help save in the long run, that's something I've yet to see. Also, I'm trying to get my bill set up. They told me to go on to the website and do this and that. And I tried doing that and I was trying to find my actual bill because I was trying to see what the progress on this thing and how I can lower my payment even more. I really want to know how to do that.

We got solar energy for two reasons. One is that if we get enough solar juice coming in, we can save on the electric bill. Also, it’s better for the environment since we're not using fossil fuels to heat and cool the house. We had a contractor we hired several years ago to repair our roof and he was happy with Vivint Solar that he had used. So, we checked Vivint and went with them, too.

We had a person talk to us face-to-face in the installation and on the second time where we had additional solar panels installed three months ago, we were able to do all the consultation and talking with the Vivint Solar representative via the internet and through phone calls. There were also some paperwork involved and once all the solar panels were up, we got the approval if they were done legally. A state representative had to come out and look at it and give their thumbs up. That took a little while and once that was done, the state was a little slow in getting back with Vivint as far as telling them everything was okay, that we could turn on the system and start using it. That was the only real hiccup to the whole process.

Other than that, everything went smoothly, and the installers were courteous, professional, let us know that they were there and what they were gonna do. In addition, the individuals we talked to via phone calls and on the internet with Vivint Solar customer service were very personable, conversational, really knew their stuff, and always checked in with us during the installation process and the approval process to make sure that everything was good and we were still happy with the service. After the initial installation two years ago, we saw about 20-30% decrease in our energy bill. Now that we have additional solar panels up, we’re looking forward to seeing more. They've been really, really good to us.

The subject should be "lack of service". I recently (7/10/18) received an email with my monthly billing statement. To my surprise the bill was $00.00. More importantly it meant the solar system was not generating any power. When I contacted Vivint the customer support person requested I go out to the control panel to press some buttons, but to no avail. He then checked to see when he could schedule a service call, To my amazement he informed me it would not be until 7//26/18! This totally unacceptable. They should have a customer support system large enough to support its product in a timely manner (less than two days) Max. Very disappointed.

I recently bought a house and it came with solar panels. We didn't want them but had to keep them... Fine. Day 1 was able to set up auto pay and view my bill online... No issues yet. Problem 1. I set up auto pay before my bill was due (bill is due the 20th of the month) and made a payment. Immediately after I made the payment on June 12th I called customer service and asked if I will be charged June 20th when the auto pay kicks in. Was told I will not be charged again because "Your account will be at $0." Fantastic. Thanks!! June 20th comes along and lo and behold a charge on my CC for $199. So obviously I call and they say, "Oh well your payment wasn't applied yet so auto payment kicked in." Wonderful! So that means I've paid $400 in a 2 week span... Lucky me!

Problem 2... My main issue. After I set up my account and auto pay about 3 weeks later I logged into my account and wanted to see if my second payment for $199 was on my statement as a credit (already asked about getting that money back on my CC and got the run around). So I log in. Click on "Manage Payments" ... automatically redirecting you to the payments center... then nothing! I'm sent right back to the dashboard with the graphs. I call and speak to someone in the technology department and I’m told "Miss this is a known issue on a few customers account, we understand it’s frustrating and we are working on the issue. Should be resolved shortly and if not we will give you a call back." This was a month ago. Haven't heard from anyone.

Then I speak to someone in customer service who said "hmm this isn't a known issue to me, nor do I see any tickets about it... let me log one for you. You will get a call back or an email". Fantastic!... No call no email. So I call again. This time I call the billing department. Why not? Haven't tried them yet. "Did you shut your pop up blocker off". Man why didn’t I think of that?! Nope. Didn't work. I ask if I can have a bill emailed to me. "You should be getting that and a statement every month". Ummm. I get JACK every month. When I call I have to verify my phone number and my email so clearly they have that info so not sure why I’m not getting any emails from these people. I crack up every time I see the Refer a friend and get $250!! I'm going to start to refer people I don't like so they have to go through the ringer!

Vivint Solar is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with as a consumer and allowing them to install solar panels on my home was the biggest mistake I ever made as a property owner. Vivint representatives (most, not all) have been unprofessional and incompetent, and some have been completely unethical, which appears to be the professional ethos at Vivint. In June 2017, Vivint installed solar panels on my roof causing extensive damage across the entire surface where the panels were installed. They have not taken steps to have this damage repaired in order to stop water infiltration through the roof into my home, which has caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to my home. They have offered to reimburse me for maybe a tenth of the costs to repair the damage.

For those who haven't experienced leaks *yet* just wait. Most of you will at some point and Vivint will do little to nothing to take care of the problems. For some of you, depending on your state of residence, there are legal options outside of arbitration, despite what dishonest Vivint reps may tell you. First of all, contact your homeowners insurance agent, and make complaints to the state Attorney General, against their contractor's license, with the BBB, etc. Post your experience on social media. Contact local media outlets who do stories on companies that take advantage of consumers. Talking to a lawyer is always a good idea, if only for a consultation about your rights and how to recover damages in a legal action. If you are considering getting solar panels, I implore you to stay away from Vivint.

My experience with Vivint Solar started off fine but now it's been going terribly. When the salesman was here, I signed up for autopay. I got online April the 29th and had a little of dough of 30 dollars. A couple of weeks later, I got a phone call that I was delinquent on my payment. I told them that that shouldn't be because I signed up for them to deduct my payment for me. To make the long story short, they did not deduct it. I didn’t know what happened. They also couldn’t tell what happened. Billing called me several times asking for the payment.

So the next payment, I saw an invoice online for $200+, $56 was for the month of May. That blew me out of the water. They billed me for over 1,300 kilowatts of produced electricity when in actuality, it was 504 kilowatts. I was accustomed to pain with my old carrier, charging me $55 a month most of the time, $70 during summertime but this was totally ridiculous. So I called the billing department and they transferred me to the technical services. The billing department's solution was for me to pay the bill and they'd just give me credit. I told them that it was not my solution and that I would not pay a penny until they get the issue straightened out. And nothing has happened.

An inquiry was initiated in May but I still haven't heard anything and it's July. I called, I got billing, and billing would send me over to technical again. I haven’t paid anything since April. The latest invoice I got which was a day ago was for over $300. I also called customer service last Monday and I talked to a young lady who was very apologetic. She told me that she'd put a priority on my case for it to be addressed. But still, nothing has been fixed. So I have an outstanding bill with Vivint for over $300 for electricity that was generated by the system. And I don’t know where the error is.

But my problem with Vivint Solar is two-fold - the billing and the fact that I thought I was gonna save money, which was the reason why I went with them. I have been told thrice that I'd be seeing savings at the end of the year. I wanted to see it on a monthly basis, not at the end of the year. I’m gonna be retiring in a year and I wanted to get down my electricity bill. And instead, it has gone up by almost 50% with Vivint. I wanna give Vivint some time to get this straightened out but I’m on the verge of getting a hold of the State Commission Utility for the State of California and initiating a complaint. I may also call one of my TV stations here that’s nationally known and complain to them about what’s going on.

I've been bamboozled and I was sold something which wasn't fully disclosed. Even the pamphlets that I have here says that I'm gonna save money. I tried getting a hold of my sales rep to see if he could help me out with this, maybe he would have connections inside to really look into this but he didn't even return my phone calls. I have been dealing with this since April. I didn’t know that my experience was gonna turn out like this. I’m really disappointed.

I have been a big fan of solar energy. I've had solar energy services from SolarCity in my other house before and when I got my first bill, it was actually decent. Then, Vivint Solar reps were putting little green flyers in the neighborhood and when I got one on my door, I called them. Their rep came and did a sales pitch. His name was Charlie and he was nice. I read the contract and it was a lot better than SolarCity.

While everybody was good, the foreman of the installation crew was snooty. He had this higher-than-mighty-type of attitude but I'm okay. I've had solar before so I knew what was involved and Vivint Solar got a lot of better offers. When I had problems logging into my account, I called the tech department and they were able to straighten that out. However, on the metering thing, I still can't read the numbers on the screen. Given my experience with Charlie though, I gave him one referral and I got to check back up on it because they are getting ready to install the other solar panels on my other friend’s house.

Our neighbor utilizes solar energy and told us about Vivint Solar. We were always interested in it and then Corey, an agent, came out and explained it to my wife. He was good but we had a little problem. We went through the whole thing where they installed the panels up on top and then we waited for inspection to come. After that, we waited for Edison to tell us to turn on the system. The same day that we got an email from them, we received an email from Vivint Solar telling us to turn the system on. The serviceman who told me what to do just said to turn the gray box on. So, when I got the email, I went outside and switched that thing on thinking that was it. But after a couple weeks, we got a call from Vivint Solar and they told us that a serviceman was gonna see what was going on.

The serviceman came, went up there and found out that besides the gray box, there was another button to turn on underneath some white box with the antenna on top. He turned it on and after that he went through it and rebooted the system. I was out there with him and he told me that it wasn't on and that he was having trouble having it communicate. So he said he was gonna come back on Monday to put a box on the outside like a router so it can communicate better.

But then, he called that Monday and he said that he wasn’t gonna come after all because the system was communicating and that we can find out if it’s producing. And so, it's working. But when the system was off, everybody thought it was on and meanwhile, Edison was charging me and I was wondering about that. It took six weeks from the initial talks to getting the system to work. But Corey explained to us that sometimes it takes a little while before the inspector comes or Edison says it’s okay so it was good.

Mel was an excellent rep and he was able to answer greatly many questions that we had as far as our concerns with getting it in the first place and having it put on our roof, which was a big step for us to take. He was also very helpful. We had to wait for two months to get the solar turned on, but Vivint explained that they had to have a number of people on the grid before they could turn on the switch so it wasn’t a terrible amount of time.

Their reps were really good in getting back to us when we had to make calls about our concerns. But my biggest one right now is if we have long term issues down the road. We need to address that and the dysfunction of the solar panel. It seems like a lot of people are now complaining about having their solar panels on the roof and Vivint is not good about servicing their panels. At first, I couldn't believe the time frame they told me the enrolment would take. But, the salesperson really kept me informed about everything that was gonna happen, how long things would take, and when they would happen. Also, their customer service has always called me to set up an appointment to do a phase. My wife was a little antsy about it because it didn't seem to happen soon enough for her, but I was fine with everything that took place because I understand the construction business.

Then, when Vivint Solar's techs were working on my electrical panel, they noticed a couple of things that didn't look right to them so they fixed that for me at their own expense. So that day I called Vivint Solar and waited on hold for 30 min and made a case with them. I also contacted my sales rep who stated "Our panels are so low we usually don't have a problem", then stated we don't install them until it becomes an issue.

2 days later I receive a call back from Vivint about an invoice for pigeon guards where I then call them back - again 30 min wait to tell them, "I am not paying for something that was promised to me and my systems has not been fully activated yet so if you don't plan to guard it then you can come take it down 'cause I am not dealing with crap all over and those birds." The agent told me she will send it up to her management who reviews these cases on Monday however since it is Friday 6/15 they probably won't get to it until 6/25. So I call back on 6/26 to be on hold again 34 min to be told they haven't received the case or management decision and I should call Friday/Monday around 10 am. Which I informed the agent well I work and have a job too but I do not want this system fully activated until they have made a decision.

The salesman from Vivint Solar was very personable. He showed me a presentation on his tablet and what I interpreted him saying was my cost would be kept at 16.5 cents for a kilowatt hour then that would go up 2.9% every year. My judgment was it would cost $20 to $30 a month based on what the past use had been. So I could save money and help other people.

But this is what is happening. My bills are running $80 with San Diego Gas and $20 off that would be $60. The salesman had said the cost would be less but I'm getting bills for $100 because I'm producing 40% more electricity than I use. I don't remember hearing that I would be charged for what I produce. I would be charged for what I've used is what I remember hearing. The contract is very clear though. So I signed a piece of paper and would pay for it forever. It was my fault and I'm so frustrated. It was like a bait-and-switch. Every other payment model is "pay for what you use" but this one is "pay for what you produce". I'm happy they didn't put another 13 on the roof. I would not be paying twice as much.

I wrote a nasty email to the company when they asked me what I thought. Then the salesman came back and explained that I would get rebate after a year. On the other hand, I'm paying an extra $20 a month. If it was $200 a month, I'd be really upset. That aside, Vivint Solar was efficient in getting the solar panels up there. The big hang-up was getting inspections and getting approval from the local company. All that went well though. Vivint Solar warned us that it would simply take a couple of months and it did. The initial contact was November 10 and we got it turned on in the beginning of April.

I was reasonably impressed with the quality of their service personnel. I'm 93 so whether I stay with Edison or go this way, when I'm done, I'm done. I don't feel like it will change anything except that I thought it would be environmentally sound to be making use of the solar system.

However, I have a little more trouble telling what I have actually received in the way of power from them. Edison always provided a sheet that showed how much power had been used and compared me with neighbors, but I don't find any of that from Vivint Solar. Other than that, they've efficiently put the system in, they got it approved by the city, and they told me when I could turn it on. They sent the bill to the bank on the 21st of this month and were credited for it. When I can get a statement from them, I'll be pleased because I need that kind of record so I know what I'm doing.

Edison still provides the service lines so they told me they still have to send me a bill but it’s not as much as it was. And if you use a lot of energy it would really probably save you a lot of money. But it’s just me and my daughter living here and we don’t have central air because it’s an old house so it doesn’t save us a lot. But I’m still happy. We have Vivint Solar for about three weeks now and so far, I'm satisfied with my decision to go solar. I first knew about them when one of their representatives came to the door and started discussing it. The enrollment was easy. The sales rep's overall professionalism was very good too. I had only one problem. I was surprised that I got a monthly bill from Vivint. As far as I could recall, the details of how everything is paid for was not explained properly to us. They got their money from the utility with the leftover electricity that was supplied to the grid.

Our electric bill in the summertime was getting up to $300. We looked into getting solar energy services, and because my Pastor had Vivint put solar at his house, I got it too and so far, the highest bill I've had was $97. The enrollment process was simple. We did the program where we didn't put any money down and Vivint didn't put any lease on our house. We just agreed to buy the power from them at a certain amount per kilowatt.

I've had good interactions with Vivint's customer service team. I'm having a little bit of an issue because they're charging me a little bit more than what they originally contracted for. But every time I call and tell them about it, they adjust it. It's just that about every month, I had to let them know so I'm not super happy about that. Although they took care of it when I called them, I wanted them to get it straightened so I don't have to keep calling them and we're still working on that with them. It amounts to about $7 a month. It wasn't a whole lot but we had recently contracted for a certain price. I can't seem to get them to document that it needs to be that price.

I would recommend Vivint still. The company itself is good. And other than the price issue, they followed through everything they said. They're prompt about their service. When they said they were gonna be here, they've been here. They also got me hooked up quicker than what they said they would project the date was. They did a clean installation and left the house clean when they did the work. All in all, I've been really happy with them.

I knew nothing about solar energy but the Vivint rep explained what it was and the program that they were offering. And I liked the idea of getting a cheaper PG&E bill. The rep said it was gonna take several months before it was complete. But they were pretty efficient, kept in contact, and let me know where we were standing. I called them one because I didn't quite understand the billing process but the rep explained it to me and I was all right after that. I was very, very satisfied with them. I decided to try solar to reduce my carbon blueprint and to lower my bills and I'm very happy with the result going with Vivint Solar. Their door-to-door sales rep was not high pressure. I told them I needed to think about it and then invited them back. The enrollment went very smooth and very professional. But it was very difficult to get through customer service. I would be put on hold and then the phone call would disappear. That happened a couple of times and then the next attempt, I was once again on hold for so long that I didn't wanna continue. I just ended up dealing exclusively with my salesperson. He was extremely reliable and had the answers to all the questions I had so I found there was no need for a customer service. Also one of the things that made me hesitate about getting solar is I didn't like the way the panels looked on other houses. But the Vivint panels looked really great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the company.

Sales rep Cole was great. Installation team finished in one day and done well. Day before city inspection a great Vivint technician came out and went over the whole installation to help ensure we passed city inspection. He found a pinched ground wire that so the system wouldn't turn on and he said Vivint would send someone out to fix it asap but it would not 'cause city inspector to fail us. We passed city inspection next day and then Vivint phone reps kept misunderstanding the situation (or ignoring what we were saying) and insisting we walk through a testing procedure. Had to do that on four different occasions. Frustrating four months later, finally came online. My Edison bill has dropped drastically (it's negative $10 right now), but I haven't done the math to see if I'm saving money because the Vivint bill is a little higher than I thought it would be.

My son-in-law had Vivint installed on his house. Also, our PG&E bill had been extremely high and we wanted to lower our monthly bill. However, when I first talked to Vivint, they couldn't do our place so we bought another place as a rental and we had Vivint switch their solar on that rental. Also, it took them so long to get the solar installed. We started in October and it didn't get turned on until April. I heard that somebody in Utah quit their job and was having a hard time getting everything caught up.

My daughter and her husband live in the rental so we've been working closely together with it. On the first month, I got a bill from Vivint and I got a bill from PG&E, which I didn't feel was right. I waited a month and tried to figure out how we were gonna solve it and it turned out that the WiFi wasn't communicating with somebody so they weren't getting information about how much was going to PG&E or how much was being produced. I'm waiting for another month or two. I got a credit and I'll see if we're saving $100 a month. Nevertheless, I would still recommend Vivint to others.

Solar energy is something that I thought about and I wouldn't have thought that I would think about it more through someone knocking at my door. It was a sign of the time someone being uninvited and giving me unsolicited information at my doorsteps was not something that I'll see all the time anymore. I wasn’t comfortable with it and the Vivint Solar salesman was sketchy because people knocking on doors these days is sketchy to me, but he was persistent and very nice. He wasn't rude or pushy in any sort of bad way. He left the information for me to contact him, which I ended up doing. It took me a good three or four months to come to the decision. I definitely wanted to do my research, but it was something that I thought about and he was the one that had equipped me with the information to really think about it.

The enrollment process with Vivint Solar was fine. I was very happy with the people that came out to reinforce the roof, although the one thing that I was a little disappointed in was it was not made clear about how long it actually takes. Once the panels are on my roof to actually being turned on, it took months and I didn't realize that They were installed in mid-January and they were not turned on until a little less than three months. It wouldn't have changed my decision, but it would have been something to be more upfront about. The installation was fine and them coming out to reinforce the roof was also wonderful!

I feel like I'm going to enjoy it more now, although we've had some rough patches. For instance, I recently was able to see my bill and I made seven calls to customer service. They couldn't auto bill me because the account number attached to my name wasn't right. When it was input in the sales process, numbers got flipped because I have the last four digits that I could see finally online that were not my last four digits, so we had some billing issues in the beginning.

Also, when I went on to the site, I could see how much energy I was producing but I could not see any of the billing information, so I didn't know why I wasn't being auto billed when I was enrolled. I couldn't see anything and it took seven calls to figure that out. Everyone would just tell me that they’ll get it fixed and that it needed to go the IT department, but I would never hear back. I would check back on the site a couple of times in the next week and it wasn't fixed. Both the account and that page weren't sending the right signal because I couldn't get it on my phone and I couldn't get it anywhere I logged in. It was a process from the Vivint side but everything is finally fixed.

I gave the feedback last time that when there's an issue, "Please, someone just call me back. Don't say it's gonna be fixed and then don't fix it and make me call back seven times." The last time when it still hadn't been fixed, I said that I wanted a call whether they figured it out or not. The most frustrating part was when they said that it will be fixed within 24 hours and then a week later, it was still not fixed. Also, half of my solar panels weren't working and on my 4th or 5th call about the website, someone told me that and they can't get out here until the 27th. So, I had to wait over a month. If something's not working and having to wait over a month for someone to come out and fix it is also extremely disappointing.

But the customer service employees were super nice and Vivint Solar is fantastic. I'm also very happy that my last bill from Eversource is $0. I'm confident that going into this next month, everything will be working and everything will be fixed and everything will be great. I have people asking right now and even despite the little hiccups that we've had, it's great. I love paying $0 to Eversource. I would tell others to definitely look into Vivint Solar.

When he laid out all of the information, we thought about it for a couple of days and decided to do it. Their enrollment process was slow at the beginning because we assumed it would have been completed a little faster than it was. But it took over two months or so to get everything done and organized and ready to go. Nevertheless, their customer service team was excellent. Every time we had a question or we were out there and looking at what they were doing, they were very hospitable and very knowledgeable.

At one point, a wall socket had to be moved over about a foot to accommodate the wiring. The young man who came to repair that was very diligent in his work and very knowledgeable, and he had the whole process completed in a couple of hours. All of the gentlemen that we dealt with were excellent as well. Overall, we had a very good experience with Vivint Solar. It has cut a lot of the cost of electricity off of our bill so I'm satisfied. Vivint Solar reps came, knocked on the door. We didn't have to pay for anything so we went with it. So far, everything's fine. The installation team came fast. They came in the morning and they were done after lunch and they were out of here. However, it took a while to get the system up and running and I think part of the problem was Delmarva Power. When we finally realized it was taking a long time, I called to check and find out what was going on. The young man that I spoke with checked in to it for me and found out that there was somebody new that had taken the account over, and she didn't know that she needed to release everything to Delmarva Power. So they did that right then and they were right out in a couple of days and got us up and going.

I touch based with their customer service team from time to time, when we were waiting to find out where we were in the process. And everybody was always really nice and informative. They were honest and upfront with me. In fact, the rep didn't have to tell me that someone had not turned in the paperwork. He could have just fixed it and we would have moved on. But he was honest about it and I appreciated that.

We've just gotten our 2nd bill and we're very happy at this point. I keep tracking the production online. We have no idea what that means. I just know if the bar is big that means we get a lot. But we're real happy with the bills. Of course, summer is now coming, but if the bills we've gotten so far is any indication, I don't think we're gonna have any issues with it at all. And I certainly like the little tiny Delmarva Power bills that we're getting now. We'd definitely recommend Vivint Solar. It's definitely worth it. It's crazy how much money we're saving already and the whole process was good.

The guys got the system installed right away but to get approval to turn it on took a long time, so I talked to several people about that. And I was not real happy about it because it nothing was happening. So far, I'm also having real trouble with my bills. When I changed the name on my electric because my wife died and I had to put it into my name, they cancelled all my charges. So, I don't have any record of what I've been paying and I don't know if I am saving any money. But as far as I know, I haven't gotten any outlandish bills. So, I'd like to wait longer to find out if I am saving any money.

In the past, other solar companies do a rent to own kind of thing. They were playing a flat rate so we liked the idea that we were able to get the solar panels installed for free and it wasn't so much of like a flat rate we were paying. And then, we can buy them at a really big discount after 20 years and own them after that point. Our neighbor across the street had Vivint. We had noticed that he got solar panels and had the little flags in his yard. But also, we had a guy that did our solar came by, and he was the one who asked if we were interested and went over the spiel with us. Then enrolling took a little bit longer than we were hoping, but it was kinda just because we needed a panel upgrade and we knew that. But outside of that, it was pretty easy and there was no out of pocket expense, which was nice. We don't feel like we were strapped for money.

We like being able to look at our meter and see that we're in the negative, and we're actually making money at that point. However, we've recently had a little bit of trouble with putting everything in my wife's info so that way, she was getting the emails and phone calls. Vivint told us it was done. But recently, we're supposed to have the bill emailed or a notice sent to us and my wife wasn't getting it so we didn't realize that it was late. I don't check my email very often that's why we put it in hers. Finally, we got a letter in the mail telling us that our payment was overdue. And I was like, "That's weird." So I went and checked my email, and sure enough, I was still getting emails. We're hoping it has been fixed, but that's the only downside. Otherwise, everything has been great. It was an excellent overall experience. I've already recommended Vivint to several family members and two friends and we heard about how happy they are with theirs.

Vivint claims I was being underbilled over this period so when someone finally fixed the problem I got a bill for over $700.00 in April. I was passed from one person to another without ever getting answers as to why my bill was so high. This week someone from Vivint finally got back to me to say my panels had a problem and this $700 bill is a correction. What's to stop them from giving me these high bills in the future?

I purchased my home and I did some research on different home security companies. After I was living there for a little bit, a family member had mentioned that they have Vivint Solar at their house so we decided on them. I contacted Vivint Solar in October and they installed the system in November. It took them one full day to do the installation, but then they had to get approval for the design that they were gonna use, the estimated kilowatts produced and if the electric company would approve it or not. Then they had to go through that process again after installation to ensure that the electric company would allow. And then there were certifications or some requirements for the township.

It was a very, very long process. I wasn’t involved in much of it but it just took forever to be notified. I couldn’t flip the switch to turn on the solar until April. But I've been satisfied with them so far. I was saving a little bit every month by using solar versus electric or the power company. I did the power purchase agreement and it's 11 cents per kilowatt/hour whereas the electric company is closer to 14 cents per kilowatt/hour.

What can I say about Vivint Solar... HORRIBLE COMPANY. Stay away! Almost 3 years ago a Vivint rep showed up at our doorstep. Derron ** was his name. So the wife and I listened to him about Vivint Solar. Everything he said sounding like it was too good to be true. Panels placed on house and garage, no fees, money in our pocket and when we refer someone we would get $500. He promised over and over that everything was legit. We stayed in contact with him for months and decided to move forward with the panels. So a tech came out to measure our roof on the house and garage.

Few weeks later Derron came by the house with the plans showing the panels on our roofs. We were happy with it so gave the go ahead. Then the installers showed up. These guys were real professionals and knew what they were doing... I am giving them credit. When finished 9 panels did not get installed. The tech that measured the roof did it wrong. So now we have lost 9 panels.

Derron repeatedly told us he was sorry and would make it up to us with some money. Guess what.... Never happened. Called Derron several times with no answer or call back. Then out of nowhere he called me back. But he said he wasn't working with Vivint any more, he was with Solar City. That confused me... so I started questioning him... he said, "I am currently with Solar City but I am helping a buddy (Ryan) out with Vivint." He was using his buddy's account to log into Vivint's system. Was going to find out what we were going to be compensated for the panels that did not get installed. Have not heard from him since. Imagine that.

So while all of this is going on, we referred our friends to Vivint. With the understanding that we were getting $500 referral money. Almost 2 years after theirs are installed.... no referral money. I have talked to so many reps (mainly Steven **) but no supervisor. Each time I ask to speak to a supervisor the response I get is.... It's company policy to have our supervisor call you back. HA! No supervisor has called me back to this day. Looking back at emails, no interaction has been made since May of 2017.

So today I give it another shot. The rep (Tina) told me the supervisor is working on my referral and he will call me back. IT HAS BEEN A YEAR. I told her if I turned the panels off, Vivint would call me ASAP. She went on and on about how a supervisor will call me back. Still no call back. Now I am furious. Looking into getting an attorney and removing these panels. How does a company continue to operate like this. All I am asking is be to compensated for the panels that didn't go on and the $500 referral money.

I am deeply regretting my decision to go solar with Vivint and wish I never would’ve done it in my entire life. I feel completely disappointed with what was said and what wasn’t said by their reps. When I tried to call to express my concern, all the guy kept saying was he'd be happy to share that. But I told him that I didn't want him to share it, I wanted something to be done. I also told him that I wanted someone to call me, a manager preferably, and he said sure. But nobody ever called.

My whole intention of getting solar was to save electricity and so that in case something happens I’d have power. But after the hurricane, I lost power for seven days and I didn’t know I wasn’t gonna have power. A friend of mine also told me that most things have batteries and when I called Vivint about it, they said there are batteries and they cost $5,000. Nobody told me about that and when I complained, they asked me why I didn’t inquire about it. So, I'm pretty angry about this issue. I would’ve spent $5,000 more so that if a hurricane comes, I'd have electricity. My son has asthma, so him not having air for seven days was bad. Plus, they don’t even have the batteries in Florida and I had to do so much research to try to get them to answer questions.

Also, my loan from there is not at all what I thought it was supposed to be. They told me that it was a 20-year loan, but it turned out to be a 25-year loan. I'm gonna be paying $30,000 of interest because of this type of loan that I have and when I paid 60.95, I still owed about $100 less from what I started with. So, I’m not understanding why out of 1,700, I’ve only paid down 100. Then, if I paid $130 a month, only 25 would be credited to the principal. That’s worse than my credit card and it doesn’t even make sense.

I’m also frustrated with myself because now I’m locked into something that will get me to save the same rate on kilowatts for 20 years. According to the amortization, it’s gonna cost 50 years to get this thing paid. The other thing is, I was supposed to get a tax write off and nobody told me that I could do that. I had some third party company tell me that there's a three year incentive and I could write off the interest. And that cost me $600 to find out. Then, their rep told me I was getting $10,000 back in cash in my refund. But later, they told me that was not happening and that I'd get only 30%.

These guys have lied about every flipping thing possible and it is ridiculous. I tried to ask their sales rep questions but he'd answer that he didn't know and that I should call the company. That was how it went. He got my money then forgot about me. So, I told him that I would never ever refer anyone to his company. All in all, I feel that I’m being ripped off by Vivint Solar and I told them I was gonna try to look into getting a lawyer, because I’d rather take the solar panels off. I am saving money but if my payments are gonna go up to 180 and only $25 goes to principal, all I’m doing is giving them 16 to $30,000.

My experience with Vivint Solar, in the beginning, was very rocky. My sales rep was Ed and he was very nice but I was not informed correctly on how the panels work and that my bills would be high. I thought I was gonna save a tremendous amount of money between my electricity and the Vivint bill, but my Vivint bills were $180, $144. Then, the panels weren’t working well for several months. Even if I called them many times, they just told me that I gotta give it time for it to work out, generate, and accumulate energy so that it would be billed correctly. But that was not what they told me. So I was very unhappy with it once I signed the contract. Also, the call center was not very knowledgeable when I called them with questions and they were not as helpful as they should have been.

I've seen a change since then but it fluctuates. In the wintertime, I use the stored energy but in the summertime, it's higher because the system has to make energy. I also can’t say that my utilities have substantially reduced because where I don’t pay in the Vivint bill, I’m still paying PSEG. Another concern of mine is what I'm gonna owe after my 20-year contract. I still don't understand the concept. I would not recommend Vivint Solar.

So far the system is producing as described and we are very happy saving money. Especially this summer as rates increase and Indian Point starts to close.

Vivint Solar told us there were going to be 14 panels then they wanted to add a couple more. That was something we didn't expect. It took a while to get the system going. But other than that, we had a fair experience with the installation. We wanted to have lower prices and we really wanted to use our air conditioner where we wouldn’t have those big prices, especially during the summertime. But we got a big bill back in December for almost $1,000 from PG&E and we weren’t expecting that. I talked to PG&E and told them about that. They said that for one whole year, you use up a certain amount of electricity so they charge about $30 a month and by the end of the year, that would accumulate to the $1000 we paid. I didn’t know about that and when the solar was sold to us, that wasn't explained to my husband either.

I wanted to save money on my power and I looked into solar energy. John, the sales representative from Vivint Solar, was really good but sometimes, there is a disconnect when it comes to communicating with the other sales reps on the inside. It would take so long to get information and to get things done because of the different departments that John had to deal with. He had everything going along and submitted all the documents but after that, the ball got dropped. The overall process took five months and when other people said that it took them almost a month or two, I never understood that. But then the installation went fine and smooth. Once they got settled and got in, everything was done.

I’ve been live for almost a year now and I noticed the differences in the bill. In the winter time the bill was very low. Now I’m ready to see what it would look like in the summer because now I’ve been using my air conditioner. Also, I requested to have a gas on solar and I’m still waiting for a representative to call me and I talked to him two months ago.

I have had my solar system on my house for just a little over 2 years. Recently my house sustained storm damage and my entire roof had to be replace due to damage. I called Vivint Solar to get the panels removed so that my roof could be repaired and water damage stop occurring in my home. I was told the price to remove and replace the panels would be $2,220 since my system was so new. I asked if there was any way to reduce that amount since it was a need to be done and not a want! The customer service rep Myriah informed me that I could file a dispute and that it would take 7 days to review.

I agreed to do that and my disaster started from there! I called 7 days later and spoke with Brad who informed me that the committee reviews cases on Monday and I should have an answer on Tuesday. I called back on Tuesday and was told that the committee also reviews cases on Wednesday and that mine should be heard on Wednesday, again I said okay and was told to call back on Thursday. Thursday came and I called back, this time I spoke to Rylie who told me that Hannah will have an answer on my case but, she is not in and will have to call me back.

I waited until the afternoon and didn't receive a call back so I called back. I was told that the committee had to cancel and that it usually takes 3-4 weeks for the review process. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager since I felt as if I was getting the runaround. Bryson took the call and was as helpful as could be when I told him of everything that I had previously been told. He said that he would speak to management about my case and have an answer for me within 3 hours. Ryan called me back about 4 hours later and informed me that there was nothing that they could do and I would need to pay the fee.

I called back to pay the fee because at this point it is necessary to get the panels removed because my insurance and mortgage companies were questioning when the repairs would be done. I was on hold for over 30 minutes waiting for someone to take my payment so I could schedule the removal. At this point, the customer service rep tells me that she needs to work out the payment with billing and she will call me back in about 5 minutes to collect the payment. Here we are 12 hours later and still no phone call back and no appointment to remove the panels! Horrible company to work with!! I wish I had never had these panels put on my house!!

After having a conversation with the Vivint Solar people, going solar seemed like a good idea. Initially, we had trouble getting dates set up when they were gonna do this and that. But that was in the November to January timeframe and it might have been weather-related. And once it got on the way, they were pretty good. The negative part was since it went on the roof, stuff was dripping down from the roof into the attic. But it wasn’t even looked at until the project was over. I went up there and saw the place was a mess but they were long gone. But I would have liked to have looked up and said, “Wait a minute. You got some cleaning up to do here.” But it was weeks later and it's water under the bridge now.

Nonetheless, the team was excellent. There were two people. One guy set the thing up then once the installation took place, we had their project manager who came on site and made sure everything was working. They did what they said they were gonna do and how they were supposed to do it. So I was impressed with that.

Theoretically, the system is supposed to be lowering our bill but it really didn’t. It lowered what we paid for the electric company but with what we paid in leasing the solar panels, what we ended up paying is probably about the same. I initially wanted to go both front and back roof. But then I didn't want people pulling up at the house and seeing the solar panels the first thing. So we only have it in the back. Had we done them in the front, we wouldn’t be paying anything. It would be like the electric company didn’t exist.

Total disappointment. Installation was a complete disaster. Plans were incorrect and had to be resubmitted to city. Our energy costs have more than doubled and repeated complaints to the company have been ignored or laughed off. One customer service agent, when I complained about the increase is my energy bill stated that we should have read our contract. When I told him our salesman had told us our energy costs would be halved he again told us we should have read our contract and started laughing at our stupidity. I had my speakerphone on and my wife heard the entire conversation. I was so upset I didn't even get the person's name. So sorry I did not.

Our monthly bill to SC Edison was averaging about 60 to 70 dollars per month and now the bill is 120 - 130 dollars or more per month. Please, take my advice, DO NOT do business with this company. The only conclusion I can reach is that they are out to take your money and care less that their actions verge on outright fraud. And they truly could not care less.

When we started the solar one of the reasons I did it in the first place was my electric bill was up around the $300 to $400. And being on Social Security it just seemed to be too much. So we got on it and we were still hooked up to PNM. We gotta pay them $8 or $9 a month. The installers were very friendly. If I ever had a question, they took the time out to talk to me about it when they were installing.

Everything was fine through the first two years. The bill started shooting up again though. And it was after a couple or three months during the winter. It went up with PNM from like $9 to somewhere around $280. I asked somebody to come out and take a look from PNM and from Vivint too. But they both said that everything was fine with on their end. Other than that they’ve done everything they said they were gonna do. It had been a good outfit to work with. We recommended Vivint to some people living in Socorro.

I looked into solar energy services 20 years ago and at that time, it would have cost something like $50,000 to put the system in. My husband and I said we're not gonna live long enough to pay that off so we didn't get it. Then when it turned out to be free installation now, we looked at it again. Somebody from another company came to my door and I almost signed up with them. And then I saw Joseph, a Vivint Solar rep, outside and he was talking to one of my neighbors. I walked over and talked to him and his deal sounded better than the other guy. So, I switched over to Vivint Solar instead.

When Joseph was here, he took me through enrollment. And also, the installation was done without any problems at all. I'm sure I have saved money since having the panels up and running but I have yet to sit down and look at my bills from last year and for this year and know the difference between the two. I wish more people would get into solar energy. We don't live far from a nuclear power plant that's gonna be closing in a couple of years and when it does, the prices for energy are gonna go up here. I have been recommending Vivint Solar but a lot of older people around here say they don't like Vivint.

The sellers called Vivint to authorize me on the account so that I would be able to access information about the lease needed for the sale of their home. I called today to request a larger version of the original contract for a buyer who we are in negotiations with and of course they can't find me authorized anywhere on the account. Vivint Solar came through the whole neighborhood and they were looking for places that were interested in converting to solar. I had already thought about it but I didn’t think that I could afford it. They offered free panels and what they were going to do was charge me for the amount of electricity made at my house then I don’t have to pay for any electricity from PNM. All they charged me for was a standard $8 per month so that I still had the capability of hooking into their system if I need to and the rest of it was all free. I had a little interaction with them about how long it took them to get the meter and to get it hooked up because the PNM did not have meters available. It took Vivint Solar about six months to get it all installed and working, but they did it without any interference to the house. They did a good job and the system has been working fine for me. Only, they told me that for every recommendation, they would give me $50, but that never happened.

We were thinking about solar ‘cause we’re getting tired of the Edison always raising their rates. Besides, it's interesting. We had seen Vivint Solar about a year and a half prior, but we lost contact with their representative so we had to wait for them to come around again. Then, the second time that we heard about it, I got in touch with one of the guys. While it was the salesman who gave us all the information, it was the day-to-day person I was contacting and he started telling us about Vivint. He came over and showed us some details, but then we lost contact. He just vanished out of thin air. By then, I said to keep track of them afterward.

The third person I interacted with answered most of our questions. The only thing about Vivint is that they'll take care of stuff between them and Edison, like the permits, but I had no clue where we were in the process and what was happening. It’s all so far behind the scenes. I don’t know what happened. And it wasn’t until February or March of last year that all of a sudden, this guy disappeared. Although they did the install, as far as the permits with Edison, I had no clue what was going on.

It wasn't clear how we paid our bills. I understood from the commercials and from the guys I spoke with that our electric bill goes down. Yes and no. The electric bill goes down on the Edison side but there's still the other one on Vivint's side. I thought about it and it made some sense ‘cause Vivint has to get paid somewhere along the line. But they charge for the energy that’s produced, so that wasn’t made clear enough to me. So whether or not we leave everything running in the house or we turn off the whole house, the bill’s gonna be the same for that month.

We've been with Vivint for a year now and the other issue we had was when we first turned on the system, it was a little problematic. I had to call somebody and they walked me through. They offered to send somebody out there, but of course, you have to wait and I was not always around. We eventually walked through the steps after a couple of times it did not work, then we finally got it going and it’s been running ever since.

The other thing is we lose communication between the inverter controller in the back office. We see this flashing light inside the house where the controller is so you don’t know what’s going on, and I had to call the office a couple times and ask them what to do. They told us not to worry about it 'cause it stores all the information inside the inverter, so when power and communication are reestablished, it will just download all the information up to that date. I wish I knew that ahead of time so we wouldn't have been freaking out and spending an hour trying to get a hold of these people online.

That is how she said it.

Bottomline, is that if you're going to sell your home, this company has horrible service and they will hold up your closing. Interview your companies first and find out how they handle transfers. Also, they do not respond very well. The response from them was this "If yours was the only transfer, it would be no problem but we have over 1000 transfers in process right now and we handle emails/documents in the order they are received." Whenever I had a problem which was very seldom, their customer service was very helpful. Vivint is a good company but I’m thinking about the long-term program and I don’t know if somebody can ease my concern or not.

I got Vivint Solar after their salesman explained the benefits that I would receive once I get the equipment installed. And from what I understood, I would see the benefits almost immediately. My daughter also has it and has mentioned it to me before. She's very satisfied with hers and she immediately got the reduction in her rates. However, it's been about four months since I got mine installed and I'm still paying over $100 a month.

A couple of times, I tried to get in touch with the salesperson and left a couple of messages but he never returned my calls. And so, I sent some emails to their office, to which they responded. I received a couple of emails from them that mentioned it wouldn't affect me immediately but as the months go by and as the summer month approaches, that's when the savings would occur. I was also given a particular person I would contact, if I need to, and each time I did, I got satisfactory answers. The installers were also very professional and did what they had to do. When they say they're going to do something, they did and they were on time. And so, the experience has been good so far. If you have the chance to have the go-ahead, go with Vivint.

As, this is what matters to me most. The sales person (Jimmy) was great. He provided excellent communication and service. The men who installed the panels were good, it was a long hard job for them. They were here 2 days, don’t even think they took a lunch break! They did good cleaning up after themselves, there was a few screws left in my driveway. Thankfully we found them before they entered a tire. So far so good. Hoping for continued excellent customer service and lower electricity bills.

Tyler from Vivint Solar knocked on my door, explained the benefits of going solar and didn’t make any outrageous claims. He was an easygoing guy. He then said that my application would be reviewed to see if I am a good candidate because of where my house sits. Then, he stopped back later on and Vivint's people marked out where the panels would be. We were hoping to get more panels on it, but Tyler said, "That's fine." There was a delay for a while before the crew came in and put the panels up. I made all the arrangements and I received emails from Vivint saying that it could cause me a bit of a wait because I had to tie in with National Grid. The wait wasn’t that long, though. Also, it turned on late in the fall which is a win-win. In late November, it's dark at 4:30 while now, the days are longer so I expect the system to work a little bit better.

When I was to sign the contract, Tyler had a tablet and has the contract. We reviewed all that was in there and he told me where to sign. He also said that I can review that contract but it was gonna come as an email. After the email, he sent me everything else that's relevant so it all came as one. With that, I know I can go on my account and find all my paper there. I've had nothing but positive reactions when I've had to call and contact customer service as well. One time I was trying to get into my account, but I was using my bill number and not my account number. They explained what was wrong and everything has been fine. I'd recommend Vivint to my friends.

A few years ago somebody called me about the alarm. Once I got hooked up with the alarm, then a Vivint Solar rep came to my door three years ago to talk to us about solar. After he did his spiel, it just made sense. We had our panels put on three years ago, and then we just had a second set of panels put on this last time. Three years ago, it probably took over six months or longer for us to get the system running. When I’m talking to people, everyone seems really nice. But when I call up on the phone and talk to somebody in the office, nobody knows what they’re doing. And at first, it wasn’t explained to me how the bill would work, as far as with additional portion of the bill. It took a few months for me to understand that. I wish that would have been explained to me. But the guys who came were nice.

The second time around, I learned that the first time around, they put those solar panels on my roof when my roof was bad. And so three years later, when the guys were gonna put more panels on my roof, they realized that my felt paper was bad and there was no way in three years it just disintegrated like that. So the people that originally put the panels on should have told me to fix my roof before ever putting the panels on. I’m happy with the guy that stopped me getting the second set of panels and being honest and telling me my roof needed to be fixed.

Vivint Solar ended up having to fix a portion of my roof for free. And then I had to pay the $500 to get the original panels that they put on, and spend $10,000 to get my roof refelted, which I would have been fine doing three years ago. It would have been nice not to have been charged 500 bucks to have to take those panels off that they originally put on. We had a lot of bumps in the road.

We took quite a while with enrolling 'cause we had a lot of other outside issues going on, but the process wasn't bad at all. Also, the installers were very good. I was gonna get solar but the previous company absolutely drove me nuts. I would have somebody at my door weekly trying to sell solar. But when I would look the company up, I’ve never heard of them before. There is so much sun in Palm Spring. It’s almost like everybody should have solar. Roland, the Vivint Solar rep, was awesome though. He was very friendly and straightforward. He gave me the answers and I felt that I could really trust him. He also told me that if the deal didn’t sound good, I could back out. I don’t like high pressure salesmen and I felt good from that. The installation experience was good too. When you do this kind of thing, you expect horror things like how guys usually drop all their supplies around. But with the Vivint guys, I found one. They were also polite and they stacked my tiles in the back exactly where I asked them. One guy even helped me put a chair in my car.

I have been quite happy with Vivint Solar. Since I’ve moved out to California, Roland has been one of the nicest reps I've ever had to deal with. When he drives down the street, he waves at me. In 2016 we got Vivint Solar Panels installed on our roof. In August 2017, we noticed a leak from our ceiling to the floor. The ceiling is below the attic, which is below the roof the solar panels are on. We contacted Vivint Solar and they sent someone out who couldn't find a leak. It rained again and we were able to find it. They came a few times to determine a leak and “fix” it. On 10/26/17 THEIR notes they mention Vivint Solar is to blame. On 11/14/17 they said someone came and performed a “quick fix.” They even sent a 3rd party in December 2017 to look and they determined it was solar panel issues. Just recently Vivint came and looked and were unable to determine an issue because there was a squirrels nest near the base of the attic. They said once the squirrels were removed, they could come back and look.

I had the squirrels removed by a professional exterminator, and contacted Vivint on 4/9. I contacted them 2-3 more times after to no answer. Today 4/19 they contacted me to tell me squirrels are to blame and they won't be fixing my roof or ceiling. At no point during this almost year long ordeal has anyone EVER mentioned it being a possibility of squirrels. It is their fault based on THEIR NOTES!!! I'm not against solar panels. Just don't get them with Vivint. They are crooks of the worst kind. You will end up with a hole in your roof while unqualified associates tell you it's squirrels (when it wasn't).

I spoke to other solar energy companies before and they said they could only put the panels on the front of my house, which I didn't want, but Vivint said they could put them on the back. I also liked the environmental idea of them and the idea of reducing my electric bill so I enrolled with them. We had some problems with the panels not working and the service technicians came out and took care of it and through the process because you had to get approvals from the State. That took quite a while and they kept me informed about it.

During a snowstorm, they couldn't come up on the roof to do it because of the snow but they came back later and did it. Plus, they were very informative. When it wasn't registering, the technician came again and fixed that and explained all the things. They were also very accommodating as far as setting up appointments and checking. I called to see if it was working and the guy was right into it. If I need to have it checked again, he told us to give them a call. I would recommend Vivint Solar to friends if they ask about it and I would tell them that Vivint satisfied my needs. I’m also looking forward to reducing the electric bills.

The Vivint Solar guys came into my store and I talked to them. I told them that we were interested in doing solar in the house because the electric bill has been really high and we wanted to see what plans they have. I'm satisfied to go solar, but I'm not satisfied to deal with Vivint. In the beginning, they were great, answered questions, and did whatever needed to be done. But as soon as the system got put up, nobody wants to talk to me.

When we met with the salesperson, we asked him what the monthly payment would be and he told me it would be $145 a month then it'd probably go up in a year or so. But since we've had it turned on, it's gone up every single month. And we found out that we're being charged for how much the panels produce. I'm producing 1,045 kilowatts a month right now and I'm getting charged for that, which I don't understand at all. I live in a high desert and we don't get that much rain and clouds, so I have a feeling my solar's going to be passing up what my electric bill was, because it is right now. So it started off at $142 and now it's at $165. Also, we never got a copy of the contract when they first came out. I finally got a copy from them emailed to me and what it says is a 20-year contract.

I talked to somebody yesterday because I sent them a check for the payment, and then I told them that it needs to be somebody higher up so we can get the issue taken care of. But the representative said, "There's nobody higher than me." So I told the rep that I needed to get a hold of our salesperson. But I got, "We can't do that." Everything's a "No." So at this point in time, I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Everything went fine with Vivint Solar until they talked to me into having the last 12 panels put up. And after that, it was a nightmare. It took months for it to get straightened out. They showed me what it was going to look like and I asked why there was PVC pipe all over the side of my house. It looked disgusting. I said something about it and they said that the people at Vivint should have shown me the diagram. I said that I never had it and, in fact, I never really wanted the other 12 units put up. I had 16 from another company in LA where I first started with and then I went with Vivint and I got almost 30 panels, although I really didn’t need them.

Vivint Solar talked to me into it saying that if I overproduced, Edison will owe me money. So, I went in and I let them go ahead and do it. However, it took forever. I thought about the degree and I told them to come and take the darn things out. And if they did that, they were going to charge me for all of the other stuff, and I was not very happy with them. Now, I’ve got two bills coming from Vivint in a month because they couldn’t hook it up to the original ones that I had put in by them. Edison wouldn’t allow it and they had to have a separate unit. I am not very happy at all. I was with the first and got my security through Vivint, which I thought I was really happy. And once I got the last 12 units, I was not happy at all.

I finally called Edison a couple of weeks ago just to get straightened out. I’ve overproduced, so I got credit in there. And I can draw it out in the check or I can leave it there and it pays my monthly even though the bills are small and they’ll draw from that to the bill so I don’t owe it as anything. That part was correct, but Vivint misinterpreted it for me to begin with. I really didn’t need them and I’m not happy with the looks because I’ve got all these things from the side of my house and as people drive down the street, they see it, so I haven’t got very good things to say about them.

I started with them way before there was anybody around here that much and the accountant told me that I got a credit back. Because of the way things are working with my account right now, after my husband passed away, we’re building some property and I had credit because I took such a loss on it, but I couldn’t use any credit from the government. So, I told them when they first started that I wasn’t interested in buying them after all because I couldn’t work out all that money. They came back and they were just starting a project with where I could lease some, so that’s what I ended up doing because I didn’t have to come up with money ahead of time. I get billed now for the amount of usage I used, so it’s confusing.

I have been with Vivint Solar for almost 2 years now. Everything has been fine except now. On March 9, 2018 I received my monthly bill and was shocked by the amount. They stated I owed $484.91 which would be charged to my credit card on March 20, 2018. I immediately contacted Vivint Solar's customer service to see what happened that this was obviously a mistake. I was advised that it sure looks like it was and they would review my account and get back me in a day. After a few days of not hearing from someone I called again and was told they were still working on the problem and would give me a callback. After not hearing from them in a week I called back and was told the person I was talking to was new and someone else is working on my account and they would expedite it and they would call me back immediately.

Again no word from anyone so I had to call back again and this point I was told there was nothing they would do to correct this as there was a miscommunication with their system and ours and that we were not charged probably for the few months prior so we owed that amount. After going back to my account since being with Vivint Solar there should be no discrepancies. My bills from Vivint Solar in the months of 12/7/17 was $69.55; 1/18/18 was $54.79; 2/6/18 was $66.95; and 3/7/18 was $484.91. The year prior my bills were 12/7/16 was $90.70; 1/8/17 was $73.45; 2/7/17 was $80.53 and 3/7/17 was $77.13. How did they come up with the $484.91? They did not give a correct explanation; any proof, etc. I told them not to charge my credit card and they did anyways.

I am very upset with this company and would not refer them to anyone. I am in the process of contacting an attorney and/or other avenues to have Vivint Solar investigated. I work for a law firm and have access to free legal advice. If anyone else is reading this and is having the same problem, please let me know by emailing me at **. Maybe we can get a class action suit started.

My daughter is very into the environment and so I said we'd see what we'd find. Then about the next day, someone from Vivint Solar came by around our neighborhood. A neighbor down the street had also installed it a few months prior. I have another friend who also has the panels and he's had it for a couple of years. They have a pool so he got two sets of panels, one that heats the pool and then the other one for his home. Customer service is very good and everything seems fine. Vivint had to come out twice but that was something they did with the panels. And then someone came out from the county and they needed something else grounded. Everything else went very smoothly. So far, I'm very satisfied.

The cost of electricity was getting higher and I was on a fixed income. I heard about Vivint Solar when their salesman was in the area after having installed on my neighbor's house, and I'm very satisfied going with them. Enrolling was straightforward and Josh the sales rep was right on top of it. He handled the questions I had. My only complaint was I had problems with corporate and I had to reschedule one time. They were really very rude to me. They told me that it would be impossible to get me another day and that I needed to just let the neighbor sign my contract. I wasn't letting the neighbor sign the 20-year contract, so I just cancelled everything and I hung up.

I called Josh and he said, "Let me see what I can do for you." And from that point on, he was my only contact and everybody was absolutely wonderful. Everybody who has ever come to the house has been polite and fantastic for answering my questions. It's a little hard to tell because of the season we're in right now, but my bill appears to be down from what I can see. I would definitely recommend Vivint, and I already have.

But I didn't have any solar until I got Vivint. I was looking at solar as a way to offset costs for the house and they have told me that it was going to save me money every month. And everybody at Vivint has been great. The staff was friendly and even the installers were fine. I've had no issues so far with the installation and it's been a good experience as far as customer service goes. It took a little while to get it turned on once it was put up, but that was normal bureaucracy stuff. So far, so good. Now, solar looks good on the house and it's definitely developing power.

I had such a bad experience prior to going with Vivint Solar. I had already been through the process of trying to get solar with another company and it didn’t work out because they didn’t really understand even how the system works, how you pay for it and what happens with the extra. There's a lot to it but the person had told me a lot of things that didn’t sound right. So I started basically educating myself and when this Vivint Solar rep came, I already was very knowledgeable about it. He was nice to me too. He didn’t sit there and try to tell me that he knew everything about it but he would get me whatever answers I needed.

First, they would come out and do some type of shade assessment on your roof to see if you even qualify. Then if you qualify, you would fill out an application and they would check your credit to see if you're a good candidate. If you want to move forward, they would do a design and send you what the panel is going to look like on your roof and what they're going to produce. After that, they would start the process by getting permits in the town for electrical and structural. Then they would come out and assess your roof to see if it can handle the load. With mine, they came in and did some reinforcing on my roof and my attic as was recommended by the building inspector and then they started the process of installing.

I read some not so good reviews after I had signed up, but I haven't experienced any of it and I'm saving money. My system went live at the end of January and I had a very small bill with National Grid in February. I had no bill already in March so my system is overproducing. Right now, I already have credits with the National Grid and I'm only on my second month. Vivint has been nothing but great. Everything that they promised me, they delivered on.

The system size is important because you pay for everything that it produces. The last company tried to put a system in a house that was twice as big as what I needed, which would have worked out great for them. I would’ve had plenty of extra electricity sitting in the bank but I would never get to use it. You have to really analyze your 12 months' worth of bills and look to see what you use and then you will know yourself when they design your system whether it's the right size. It really is the kind of thing that the consumer has to educate themselves on because the solar companies are not very good at explaining the overages and the underage.

That’s probably where a lot of the complaints came from. If your expectations are correct from the beginning and then the company delivers what they say they're going to deliver, it shouldn’t be a bad experience. I'm very pleased with every part of Vivint's service, including their customer service. Every single time I've called them, I've gotten somebody right away. They’ve answered my questions and they’ve been as good as, if not better than, a lot of the utility companies. So I've been pleasantly surprised.

Everything that the Vivint Solar salesman told me was not what came out in the end. I'm extremely upset about this 20-year contract that was never explained to me. Then when I called, the girl said, "Well, you signed the paperwork." But what happened was that every time he came over, he had the papers ready for me to sign and there was never a discussion about 20 years. I would have never ever signed such a thing because I'm not planning to be in my house for 20 years. I'm only planning to be there 10 more years.

Also, when he came to the house, his first line was different from all the other salesmen. He introduced himself and said that SMUD has a program so I was misled to think that this was from SMUD, not from Vivint Solar. He told me that I was gonna create my own electricity, then the extra goes back to SMUD. I never realized that I would ever owe Vivint a nickel because I thought it was a SMUD program through the government and it was all gonna be covered. All I kept going back to was that I was not gonna owe anything, that I would not pay anything and that I was not gonna have a monthly charge. He said, "Right now, no. No, no, no." Then when he was almost done, he asked me for a check and he said it was just for their records so I gave him this voided check. There were also a bunch of issues and my system took way longer than everybody else's. The process started around May of last year and it didn't go live until two months ago.

It was my first experience getting into solar and there were a couple of other people that were interested in getting our business, but I decided to go with Vivint Solar. Richard got in touched with me. He's a local rep, and we moved forward with it. Probably the only downside that I have with it was in conjunction with working with this outfit called Power Construction. They were very, very pricey on their rooves. I'm in the construction end of it, so I'm kind of familiar with it. And I know Vivint probably get a little kickback on the roofing, but we put a 50-year roof on and it was very expensive. If I was to do it again, I could find a roofer that would do it considerably cheaper. And I wasn’t all that satisfied with Power as far their cleanup. I had to run around and clean out my gutters. I shouldn't have had to, not at $12,000. But I went with the program and everybody got their fair share.

The experience so far has been very good. It's been short term, so we're waiting for summer so we can really get some good payback. It didn’t go online until October or November, but we have a seen a reduction in cost as far as electrical energy. And it would have been nice if they’ve been able to maybe throw a couple of extra panels up there, but it is what it is and I think that everything, in all due respect, will work out fine. I contact Richard every now and then just to say, “Hi.” And he would call me. Richard was very good in answering questions and coordination of everything. I go online and look at the bar graphs that come up just to see what we're producing, just out of curiosity. I'd recommend them.

I've had Vivint Solar for 2 years now and just received a "True Up" bill from Southern California Edison (SCE) for $692 and was blown away. I immediately called Vivint and requested an explanation. After numerous promises that I would be called back that never happened. I requested a supervisor to help me. She made several promises to return my phones calls but was inconsistent as well. She asked that I send her 2 years of SCE statements (which I immediately did) and they would review it for compensation purposes. Come to find out that a large portion of my solar panels had not been working for almost 1 year. However I continue to pay Vivint each month at about the same normal rate.

They would only offer me a $120 credit towards the issue. The service department came by this morning and stated, "This is a much larger problem than we realized" and that they'd have to reschedule. It's very obvious at this point that Vivint does not care about me or my situation. They only care about getting rid of me as a problem. Unbelievable!

Just ANOTHER victim here... I've been dealing with this GARBAGE company for 2 years now and still no resolve. April 2016, Immediately after install my lights flashed on and off and flickered. I was told by a Vivint electrician that I needed to get my electrical panel replaced after he came several times to fix the flashing lights and could not fix the problem. He also stated Vivint would pay for the replacement of the electrical panel and the sales guy also told me the same thing. But did that happen?? Sure didn't!! Oh wait this is the best part... So it's Feb 2017. I replace my electrical panel and my electrician opens up the wall and OMG!!

Guess why my lights were flashing and flickering?? It's because the installers put a big hole in my wall from the outside and mangled a wire with their drill. Imagine that!! They decided to covered it up with a little piece of tape then covered the hole with a big blob of plaster and a bunch of little sticks and rocks like they were trying to start a campfire. Well it's a good thing my house didn't burn down!!! Don't you think Vivint??! Oh but that doesn't matter because you guys didn't do it. It's not your problem. Then comes June... Oh yeah here it comes, a big bill from PGE for over $3000. For a whole year your system was never working and it's my fault? Must be because you didn't have anything to do with that either.

If I didn't have solar panels I wouldn't have been paying that much. MORE LIES!!! How much was I told I was going to be paying if I signed up with such an awesome solar company?? Hmmm I wonder... It must have been $3000... Oh no wait it was $100 a month. So how much did I have to pay when I was told I didn't have to pay anything to have solar panels installed?? A LOT!! Believe me there's a lot more to add to this disgusting review and if you're thinking about getting solar DON'T GET VIVINT!!! STAY AWAY!!! DON'T ANSWER THE DOOR!!! They'll ruin 20 years of your life.

When Vivint Solar's salesman came over here initially, we were going to have it because all my neighbors have it, then we changed our mind. They came back again the following year, and my brother in law had hired them so we decided to go ahead with it. We enrolled with them and the process was easy. However, it was a little harder to get up and running and get all the perks of their promise when their rep was not responding. He promised us a $1,500 sign in bonus and we got the $500 right away. When I kept trying to find out where was the other thousand, it took a while, but I eventually got it. Once we signed up it, he was nowhere to be found and I haven't heard from him since we've been online.

We went online the day after someone called me. The customer service rep called to tell me how to start up the program which we had already done because it was listed in an email that I received. I'm waiting to have a full month with Vivint and a full month with National Grid to see how things are going, and I check every day to see how many kilowatts we've used. I'm a little confused and I don't think it was fully explained to me how the system really works as far as how and how much we get billed and so forth.

One of the emails that I got reads, “Welcome to Vivint and this is your first billing. This is when your first bill will be deducted from your checking account.” It said that your bill will be higher in spring and summer, and that was something I didn't understand. Why would it be higher in spring and summer when there is more sunlight? I don't understand how they bank our kilowatts and I don't have a comparison because it hasn't been running long enough. But both my brothers-in-law are contractors and they have solar at their house and on their rental properties, so I figured they’re good ones to go by. And so far, I'm happy with it.

Hi Jean, We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with your choice to move forward with Solar. We are sorry to hear there were some delays when getting started, but glad to hear you received resolution. In regards to your question about production, your system will have increased production in Spring and Summer as the days grow longer and the sun's rays become more intense. This results in a higher Solar bill than the winter months, but also lower bills from your electric company. As your solar rate is less than your average rate with your electric company, your electric costs are reduced. However, we had to wait during the enrollment process, but not too long. It's just the process of working with the city and through PG&E on what they have to do. And then they emailed me to turn the solar on, that everything was okay until they get all the approval. It went okay. But we still paid the PG&E bill.

The customer service reps talked to me through email, which is fine. Since the system just got turned on, I'm still in the process of seeing the difference of what it’s gonna do. So overall, I hope it's really good. And other people in the neighbourhood have seen it’s been put on my roof. And it's around other streets too. Certain houses can have it and certain houses can't. One day a sales rep with Vivint Solar named Jorel knocked at my house door to offer his services/product. He introduced my family and I to the solar panels and we thought it would be a great way to help the environment and also save us some money. When it was time to talk money. He said, "Well your panels will cost 'this much' and after you get your 30% tax credit for having solar panels and putting them into your financing account, you'll be paying a monthly fixed amount of 'this much.'"

On average it was a good deal if it was true! Being the naive 21 years old that I am, I just believed every word he said, signed that contract, and got my solar panels. Little did I know when I was filling my tax return that I'm getting zero dollars back, because there are some requirements/eligibility that I wish was just mentioned in our conversation so that I can look more into it, but NO all I got from Jorel that I'm guaranteed for this tax credit. And of course for not putting the 30% "tax credit" back into my financing account, my monthly payment for the panels will double starting next year!

I contacted the financing company, and all they said that the sales rep should never have said that this is a guaranteed thing! I contacted Vivint Solar and told them about the whole situation, found out that the sales rep no longer works for the company. I kept being transferred to different people for a good couple of weeks, when someone finally opened a claim/investigation for the issue; Same time I was told there isn't much to support me, because the promise he made was verbally and not written. Fast forward a couple of months, Today, I got a call saying they can't help me because I signed a contract and that they'll make sure it never happens to future customers. Long story short they had me waiting all that time to tell me something I already know.

My main issue here and the reason why I opened a complaint from the beginning is that I simply got tricked into this by their unprofessional and untrained sales rep. I basically trusted their "company face" and shouldn't have done that. I accepted the offer, mainly because of the monthly fixed payment that I will be paying (after the tax credit). He saw how much I make, and how I'm just a student, and that I definitely won't be able to afford the payment being doubled, yet he did not even bother to tell me that the tax credit is based on eligibility!

I apologize for the long post. I just wanted to leave this here for everyone to be mindful and beware. Just out of respect, I have waited to see if they will solve this problem and accommodate me or not, before writing this review. I'm definitely going to be looking into legal actions, because they made it perfectly clear that they can't accommodate me. I've never felt more lied to or tricked in my life.
