Very upset, a representative showed up at my house without an invitation!!! I have never even spoke to anyone from this company before. I think this is a very poor way to try to solicit business. I will not use this company for this reason.

Having a solar energy service means no money down, no money out. So, I decided to avail of that and I went with Vivint Solar. In the beginning, my experience with them was wonderful. Their rep told me exactly what he had been told to say and he answered everything that I asked. He was very nice, very informative, and was very friendly man. He also spent time with me and did not think I was stupid or ignorant.

But I was very unhappy that it took forever to get the system turned on. I called several times and complained, and they said that it was because the city would not get it permitted. I don’t know if that’s true or not true, but when the system was installed, we were told it would be up and running in June. And I even threatened that I was gonna have them come out and take that crap off, then I’d go with another company that said they would pay my utility bill. At the time, my utility bill was very expensive because it’s a two-story house. And if there was a backlog of all of this, how come every time I would call I wasn't told in the beginning that it may take three to six months to get the thing turned on? Surely, this was not the first time they put up solar on a house, so they should have known that it was gonna take six months to get the darned thing turned on. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend them.

On April 27, 2018, I started the process of a PPA with Vivint Solar. On May 25, 2018, the panels were installed on my roof. And POOF! I’ve never heard from them again. I have called several times to inquire and can’t even get a Supervisor on the phone. The people who answer the phones don’t know what to do to help me and lie just to get me off the phone.

I attempted to contact the sales rep who doesn’t care about me anymore since he made his sale. Vivant has sent technicians out without an appointment and no one being home. One technician jumped my fence and broke it. I have lost money since the solar was not installed in a timely fashion by having to pay the summer rates. This has been a real disappointment. I will tell everyone I know of my problems with Vivint. I will stop at every install I see being done and tell the resident of my problems with the Company. This has been a complete debacle. I’m looking into suing Vivint to remove the panels and restore my roof.

When we found a notice about Vivint Solar on the garage door, my husband and I were interested in it. My husband’s into the whole keep things natural and go that route. During enrolment, their rep helped us out and everybody was really awesome. The interactions I had with their customer service were very polite. Their reps were very prompt. They answered all the questions that my husband and I had. If I had a question they didn’t have an answer to when the installation was happening, they call me back immediately. It was very well-done. The installation experience was fine. There were a couple of nails here and there, but nothing terrible and there was no damage to the house. We love our decision to go solar and Vivint Solar was great to deal with.

I heard about the benefits that I can have with a solar system and what the government would give me back in tax refund. I got interested and I researched the companies, what is out there and what could be in my area. We chose the design of Vivint Solar's panels. They’re high quality and I liked the overall experience that we had with them. When we sat down with George, the sales representative, that was what made the difference. He was more hands-on on this whole project. Everybody else would give us the documentation and tell us what we have to submit with the county and with the HRA. On the other hand, George said that he was gonna take care of it. I didn’t have to move a finger. It was all done by him and it was very convenient.

I’m following how much we produce through the app now and I’m pleased. We built a solar system that’s gonna offset my bill 100%. It was installed around the 20th and I’ve had one bill from Duke Energy since. It was around $70. We only had 10 days of panel and it has reduced the bill somewhat. Now that I have my panels all month around, we’ll be able to see if it would really offset my bill 100%. At this point, the production numbers have already gone up double and we’ve only had half of the month. So that’s all good. Vivint is the way to go and I’m selling the company to everybody. I tell my family and friends to use it. In fact, a friend of mine is interested but unfortunately, Vivint is not in his area yet. So Vivint needs to expand to Jacksonville.

I looked into getting solar energy services before a friend recommended Vivint Solar. I got so many calls, but it wasn't a good time and I had to put it on hold. When my husband's friend said that they got Vivint Solar, he gave us the girl that can come over and answer all our questions for free. Our enrolment experience was easy. If we encountered a problem, they noticed it, not us, and they came out and fixed it. They are a company that is very easy to work with. We wanted to cut our electric bill, go a little greener, and save some energy and we noticed a cut. Vivint Solar is a reliable and friendly customer service company.

I have been a Vivint Solar customer for 5 years. Everything in my home was working well until there was roof leakage, so I called Vivint Solar Customer Service. They were able to help me and sent their roofing crew to my house. When they came, they had told me that they had fixed the leakage issue. It rained the next day and my roof leaked in the same spot as before. I called Customer Service again and they surprised me by saying that the roof leakage was fixed the first time and that I'm now on my own. They also suggested that maybe my roof is old and I should replace it (my roof is 12 years old). They told me that I have to find a roofing company to fix my leaking roof. The roof couldn't have been fixed if it was experiencing the same issue as before. It can't be determined as fixed if it was never tested, so they couldn't have known for sure that it was fixed.

I called Customer Service again and asked for the manager to call me. The Customer Service Manager also told me that the roof was fixed and nothing else could be done. I asked the Customer Service Manager to send the roofing crew to fix the leakage and that I will pay for the repair from my pocket but she refused to do that. She offered me the phone # of the panel removal crew to remove the solar panels so my roofing company can fix it. I called the roofing company for an estimate and they were surprised by how Vivint Solar company treats their customers. They said that the Vivint Solar roofing crew sealed the wrong spot, not the leaking spot. The leaking roof is not fixed yet.

I wanted to have lower prices on my utilities so I looked into solar energy services and had it installed. Vivint Solar came and turned it on but I found out it wasn’t on for a whole month. Vivint should’ve known that it was off. If something happens, they were supposed to call you to let you know if something was wrong, down or broken. They should’ve been out but nobody came. When I thought I had solar, it was only gonna cost me $124 a month and I was supposed to be only paying gas which was only 15 bucks. Now, I got a $300 bill from San Diego Gas and Electric. Nevertheless, the rep who helped me get it all set up is supposed to come by today to talk to them. He’s been here step by step for me and he answers all my phone calls. So, he’s been really good.

The reps from Vivint Solar have been friendly and helpful and the interaction with them has been all good. I would recommend them because I already got a couple of people in line who wanna get it but I hope they don’t run into a problem like I did. If I put my word of mouth out there and that happens to them, then that’s on me.

It took about five months to get it turned on and when they did, it didn’t work. I had to make an appointment and it turned out that the guy had to reprogram the inverter. It has been working ever since. I would recommend Vivint Solar.

We live in California and you can't build a new house without being solar. It's the way to go. We've been looking into solar energy for years and we would find a company that would say that they were gonna come out and meet with us, but they never would show up. Vivint Solar was recommended by a friend who had their solar energy system installed. The customer service has been so seamless. The rep showed up and showed us the details of all that was gonna be going on. We signed up and we love that he took care of everything else, including the interaction with our HOA and between our local city and SDG&E. Our solar energy system has gone live since September and we’ve noticed that our energy bill has been significantly cheaper. We’re 100% satisfied with our decision to go solar and we've told most of our neighbors that Vivint Solar is the company to go with.

We had Vivint Solar's rep Adam over at my mom's house and I had bazillions of questions for him, which he did a great job in answering. He was a really great guy. He also showed me on his iPad how to go online and see everything, and how I could go online on California Edison and give them the detailed information that they needed, which was the last 12 months of usage.

I ended up getting the system for my mom’s home and then I got it for my home in Nevada. And I’m very satisfied that I went solar. Adam was very instrumental in helping me stay in touch with everybody here, since he was in California, and did a great job in following that, too. And then I signed up my neighbors next door and I signed up my brother and sister-in-law. I have some customers here with issues, but I’m very boisterous and I just retired after 38 years, so I’m kind of a people’s manager. I have made some extra effort with Vivint's customer service to provide my honest feedback and it seems as though they’re paying really close attention and trying to fix some things. And they’ve been really responsive so far.

I’ve got three panels on my mom’s house that weren’t producing. Thank goodness, though, Vivint did well in responding. They actually reported it to us before we reported it to them. So, that’s good. And then here at my house, I have a problem with their little box that they put in my house to stay connected to my internet. It’s not reading here at my house. So, they have an appointment to come out at the end of next week and try to resolve that. Other than that, I would recommend them. With the rate hikes, anybody in California is crazy not to do this solar with Vivint.

Vivint came here soliciting and at first, the security guy came, and then the solar man came after. I've had no issues with the solar part of Vivint. They've done everything that was needed to be done. They had to upgrade and put enough panels at first. They finished putting more panels but the re-plastering of my house was not done. So, somebody came and re-plastered with it. They didn't paint it but the guy who came said he was rechecking the whole system, and he would contact someone about the paint where the panel was reinstalled.

However, I don't like that the security portion of this contract was not explained to me thoroughly. They told me I was paying for a security system, which was $2,400. I paid for that but they never explained that to monitor the service monthly, there would be a $69 fee. So, I called last week to find out what that was all about. Then, someone explained to me that it is a monitoring fee by Vivint every month, so that I have a right with them to monitor the system. Had I known that, I probably would not have gotten the system because my husband and I were retired. We are at home almost 24/7, so I didn't really need that type of thing. But it's here, so I have to deal with it and use it.

Everybody I speak to is courteous and they give the best answers they can. It's just that the initial sales people need to be a little bit more explicit when they deal with customers. They should explain every detail of the service, so they would know what they're paying for. Still, going with Vivint has cut down our electricity bills. I'm in California and in Southern California, Edison handles one portion and DWP handles the other portion, and the electric bills are exceptionally high. I also had my son and his wife go with Vivint Solar, too. They’re pleased with it. I will definitely recommend the solar portion of Vivint.

I'm on Long Island, New York and we had to go through lots of hoops before we were allowed to turn the panels on so they've only been turned on for about three weeks now. When it came time to sell my house, the prospective buyer rightfully needed clarification on the contract. He first went to Vivint customer service and they could not answer his questions --they said they would get back to him. Didn't happen--my agent and I then tried and still no answer. Finally we contacted Vivint legal. This took over two weeks and the prospective buyer was so put off by the lack of normal customer service that he decided not to buy my house. This cost me a fair amount of money. I then wrote legal to try and negotiate some type of settlement to no avail. In all good conscience, I cannot recommend Vivint due their lack of good customer service.

Well overall I have liked Vivint Solar. I knew I was not going to save much but it’s nice only paying a PG&E bill of less than $20 each month. Some months I produce a lot of power and some I do not so it washes out. My buyer beware is when I was working with the sales rep and he was sizing and selling me the service I explained that I would not be in the house more than 5 years and what would the cost be to remove the service. He told me $450. Asked my neighbors who also had them installed and they are shocked that if you sell your house you can transfer the service to the new buyer, purchase the system. Because I have not used them for 6 years if the buyer does not want to take over the service the only way out which I am still waiting to hear what the cost is to prepay. What is this. Tried to contact sales rep no longer there. I think I am screwed.

Enrolling with Vivint was extremely easy. I didn't have to do anything other than answer some questions. The fellow that I worked with made the process simple for me. He did all the work. When I started looking at the screens to see my energy usage, I really didn't know what I was looking at. I had to have somebody explain that to me so I called their customer service and they've been great. October was my first full month. It was a good month based on what I don't have to pay our electric company and I'm hoping that November will be the same. We've already told our neighbors about Vivint.

We had high electric bills and we didn’t have tens of thousands of dollars to put into purchasing a system on our own at the time. The plus to enrolling with Vivint Solar is that there’s no out of pocket cost. So you’re saving from day one because it’s not your system. But the minus is that you don’t own the system so you are paying somebody for your energy, albeit at a cheaper rate. And a 20-year contract is a long time. That worried me when I did it. If I had to do it again today, I would probably purchase a system outright.

Customer service has also been fine. The only gripe that I have is I often get service reps at my door without calling to make an appointment to do something. I’ve gotten somewhat mean about it at times because I’m busy. I work from home and then I get somebody who knocks on my door and wants to do something in my system but I don’t know who they are. Sometimes, they’re not even in a Vivint truck or they have just a sticker on the side. But I have also had them show up without any identification. That’s a bad way of doing business. They’re independent contractors and they say if I would call Vivint, they would give Vivint their badge number. But they're putting all this on me. Now, I've gotta go, make a phone call and do something.

I don’t know what they’re doing to my system at any given time so I’m hesitant to let somebody I don't know in my garage. That’s a big concern I have. I wish Vivint would stop that practice. Somebody came to the door last week. They had a badge and I was available. So I let them do the upgrade that they wanted to do. But I told the guy that every other company in the world calls their clients when they wanna come and do something and he said he hears that a lot. Nonetheless, I’m very satisfied with going solar. It’s definitely a savings.

It was 103 degrees for two weeks, so it was hard to get a good picture of how much we're gonna save until we're in it for a few months. But they've been very responsive and any request I have to get a copy of the bill, they were always right there.

I looked into solar energy services because of the future of energy resources and so far, I’m happy with my decision to go solar. Enrolling with Vivint was very easy. The salesman, with whom I interacted several times, was very good at explaining things. He explained the process step-by-step and answered in detail any questions that I had. Also, the installation team was prompt when they came out to my home for the installation. The foreman in charge handed me the paperwork and explained what was gonna happen. They were very efficient in what they were doing and the installation was professional. I’ve got one electric bill since starting with Vivint and I noticed that my bill decreased by a third. The whole experience with Vivint has been great and everything went smoothly.

He never told the engineers. I never got the panels installed until I finally threatened to cancel the whole project. Got the panels installed in August. Now 3 months in, I was told it could take an additional 10 weeks before the panels would actually be functioning. Now we're in November and we have less than 9 hours of daylight! Now I've been fighting them for almost 3 weeks for a missing form. I keep emailing them to tell them I never got the form and each email is sent from some other CSR. I can't get a real email address, just automated responses. If I could I would rip the things off my roof tomorrow. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

I looked into solar energy services for reduction of cost and knew about Vivint Solar through a flyer. It was painless to enroll and was as easy as could be. During installation, they waited on me to get my new roof put on. Then, they came over, insulated it and put all the equipment on in one day. Waiting for approvals from Nevada Power was the worst part and it took almost six months. I dealt with a different solar company that was going to cost a lot more and would have taken a year and a half so, I wasn’t surprised. So far, I’m satisfied and I recommended three people around here already.

Vivint's customer service was great. Once the solar was activated, I have yet to be unhappy with the service. Only concern I had was it took nearly three to four months before it actually got activated. But other than that, I'm very, very happy with Vivint. The representative came three to four times before I let him in, and we sat down to talk. His persistence and consistency really sold me to it. My neighbors also were in the same contact with this gentleman, and we talked about it and we all ended up getting Vivint.

The enrollment process was very easy. The representative that was with me helped me, and he pretty much took care of everything with my guidance. I rarely had to do anything other than accept a link on my email and activate my panels. I was very satisfied. Every time I stayed in contact with the representative, the satisfaction has exceeded the expectations. Other than the gap of time between activation, I had no issues with Vivint or any representatives. I've been live for two billing cycles, and there's about $100 of a difference a month. It's huge, and I'm hoping for more soon. It's unbalanced, but so far, so good.

I referred my girlfriend to Vivint Solar and she got solar panels this summer. Hers was installed in September and they said that they would give her and me $500. Her $500 check came but weeks went by and I didn't get mine. I contacted my agent, Bruce, and he said that he was gonna look into it and that he was sorry that happened. Finally, a check came and the check is an amount of $165. They said they were gonna send the rest out and that they told the understaff. I've been waiting for the whole amount for about a week. The reps are nice, but nothing is happening. I get switched around from this person to person and then they would they were sorry this was happening to me but it happens again.

The people are not messy on the phone. They understand but I don’t know if anything is being done. I still haven't received anything besides the 165 that was not that total 500. I have referred several people and some of my neighbors are still asking how my bill is to see if they wanna get it because they're kind of leery. They don’t wanna do it unless it’s gonna save money. But I’m almost to the point where I don’t wanna even say anything until this part is resolved because it’s just like Vivint Solar is not holding up to their end of the bargain. Other than that, the enrollment process was easy. Also, I've received a couple of bills and it is a difference, so I’m satisfied. I don't have any problems with the solar panels as of yet. The bills are lower, so it’s actually doing what I was hoping that it would do.

He was knowledgeable, clear in his description of what would happen step by step and was very patient with my questions and concerns. Each step had people working on my house that I would give excellent ratings. The person that checked the house was efficient and clear in his explanations. The installers were equally as efficient and finished in record time. Brandon has come back to give good direction as to when it will be installed. I was attracted to solar for ecological as well as financial reasons. We heard years ago that there would be an upfront installation cost of $12,000 to $15,000, which we would recoup over a period of about 10 years in savings. But I wasn't prepared to fork over that money upfront. So when Vivint Solar said that now that the electric companies have moved towards acquiring solar credits, it's underwritten and it would be no cost to us to have solar installed. Right off the bat, that attracted me. They explained the arithmetic, which was very simple. We buy solar power from them at a somewhat lower cost than what PEPCO charges especially with their surcharges. Then Vivint sells it back to PEPCO. They deduct it from our bill and we pocket the difference.

So it looked like a good plan on paper. But there were a couple of times when I wanted to get clear how we were gonna make any money on this since the kilowatt hour charges are just slightly less. The salesman pointed out that there was a bunch of surcharges on our bill that we wouldn't have with them. It was going to be one kilowatt per hour charge and no additional charges. So I did see all those additional charges tucked in to our PEPCO bill. The salesman had told me to use his cellphone number and call him anytime I had a question. And every question that I ever had was answered within 24 hours.

The plan should result in a net gain of about $50 a month less in our total electric bill. And we even wound up a little more than that. We've only had the system actively running now for two months and in that time, it worked out about $60 a month of savings over the PEPCO bill alone. I have my online account and I can see every single month what my bill exactly is. I'm not very handy on the Internet and yet I got my account up and running painlessly. Then I have an automatic withdraw from my checking account so it's painless.

We actually even missed the peak solar power time which was all summer. They approached us some time in June and it wasn't until late August that we got it setup. But we knew that and that was fine. They were very upfront that the paperwork involved would probably take two to three months from start to finish. They told us that it’s through no fault of anyone and that it's the bureaucracy. It did take a couple of months but because we had anticipated that, we weren't in anyway disappointed. After that, they were very efficient in the installation process. They were very polite and clean as well. They hooked up the cable and it's unobtrusive. Overall, it's been a wonderful experience.

So, we started looking into solar energy services. Jason, our salesman from Vivint, came around the neighborhood and talked to us about it. He's been very helpful. Although it took a while to get the system up and running because they were slammed with new customers. I understand that. The enrolling experience was good. However, I'm a little confused on why we have to have Wi-Fi in order to have the solar. We think it was to get your bills ‘cause we didn't have it in the house, and now, that’s just another extra bill. Other than that, I like the referral system. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS: my system was down for over a month, I had no idea until I received a bill from my local electric company, PSEG for close to $200 for the month, Vivint removed close to $300 that same month even though my system was down. They claimed it was "an estimated bill". If they were "estimating" my bill, shouldn't they know the system was down? Well... no they did not. Then after TWO MONTHS of the runaround and back and forth phone calls, they deny my refund.

I had to call my bank to stop further transactions with this company, they are misleading and teach their sales personnel to lie to customers, I was told this by a former salesman! Many other customers that I know that have Vivint Solar are also very unhappy with billing, there is no savings here for the customer, do not put their equipment on your house, you will be locked into a 20 year rip off. Updated on 11/30/2018: This is an update to my earlier review... After Vivint not taking responsibility for creating the environment that led to my issue, I called to set up removal so that I can have my roof repaired, the customer (non)service rep told me that I had to pay $499 before they would even look to schedule my removal. I paid the fee...they took my $499...then proceeded to tell me that there is no crew in my area and that they have NO IDEA when there will be one and that they will be keeping my $499 dollars. So it could be a month, 6 months, a year, who knows how long before I can have my roof fixed. I feel like they have not only stolen $499 from me, but also the money I have to shell out for a new roof!!! For the love of everything holy!!! Do not let these swindlers into your home!!!

Original review: Been a customer for three years. The savings is there, not great, but we have seen savings. However, the panels seem to have made a convenient, dry place for squirrels to nest underneath. These squirrels have eaten a four inch diameter hole in my roof. We contacted Vivint about this and they send a damage inspector. They don't feel as if the panels are the reason that the animals nested underneath of the panels, (as if squirrels nest on roofs all the time) therefore, Vivint is not responsible for this gaping hole in my roof. Stay away! I wish I didn't get these!

Then they wanted to do the inspection so I asked them about the circuits again and was told to let them do the inspection and then they would start a work order for a new circuit box. I waited about a month and no one called me. So I called them again and was told that there had not been a work order put in so they would create one. Then again I heard nothing. I was bouncing around with the idea of going solar and when I got in touch with a Vivint Solar's rep, I had a bunch of questions for him. He gave me a website that I can go to,check things out, and read feedback about them and the PPA program. When I first enrolled with them, I didn't know much about the PPA, so most of my experience with them was inquiring about the actual panels and setting up the dates. Then they came when they said they were gonna come. They projected the time and how long it was gonna take. The agreement and my records were very thorough. The tech rep, Misty, went to each one and asked questions. We did so much interview and I called there even after hours. She would answer my questions and it was great. She explained things, but if she didn't know, she found out. She did a great job and went way above and beyond.

The installation process went very well and it was quick. We started in the first part of May and it was all in by mid-May. They were up there on the roof in the actual planning and I got to review the blueprint where it was gonna take place. They even put the little pest control, the little pigeon thing, for free, which was really nice. I just got NV Energy permission to turn my solar on in little less than 30 days and it has been good so far. NV was right about how to interpret their charts. The system was designed well enough to cover my needs so far and even billing credits were explained to me by NV Energy and the Vivint Solar people. I'm doing about three to five kilowatt hours a day and I'm waiting for the first four months' bill, then I will get a full month of service to the panels and stuff.

My neighbor had Vivint Solar installed in their home and I asked them about it. She explained to me what their program was and I expressed an interest. Then, a Vivint sales rep came to my door, went through everything with me and left me his information. I asked him some questions that I could not find in the material that he left me. I also called a lot of times and did my due diligence. I asked for someone that was on the program whom I might be able to speak to as a reference but the rep was not able to provide me with that. The rep warned me that the enrollment process was long and inspections needed to be made on the part of the city and with our local electric company. I was prepared for that though I hoped it would not take quite much time. I understood the backlog and all the process needed to take place. Nevertheless, it was an easy and great enrollment process.

It was a windy day when the installers installed the panels and the guard lift had gotten away from them and it tore a very small piece of my aluminum tile cover. We did not see it because the tear was not where it ended when it had blown off. It rolled across to the other side of the house. So, the next day, when I went to take the trash out, I saw sunlight streaming through there, which was not usual and I called customer service. I first spoke to my sales person and he gave me the customer service number. He said that he would also make sure that his chain of command knew about the issue and that was fantastic. There was no pushback and there was never a doubt whether it was caused by the implementation of the panels or whether it was self-caused or by some other means and they completely took my word for it.

Even the project manager that had been on the installation team admitted that there had been something that got away from them. He made a special trip to my house to apologize to me because he had not seen it and did not realize there had been any damage done because of whatever that piece fell. They offered me to get some quotes or a flat amount, whichever I wanted. And if what I received for a quote had exceeded that amount, they would absolutely take that information.

Going solar has been good so far. It was one of the smartest things I could have done. We have high highs and low lows in Las Vegas and we also had like an Indian summer where we were in the 80s up until two weeks ago on and off. So, within a week, we have turned the air conditioning completely off and I needed to have it on for a few hours in the afternoon. Also, in late October, my power bill would have been normally high 200s but it was barely 100. I encourage people to take advantage of the same type of promotion or program from Vivint where there is no out-of-pocket expense and essentially just paying at a lower rate. Everything from start to finish and even post-installation were taken care of how I wanted to be taken care of.

Homeowner's insurance claim filed to get wind repair done on roof, but claim denied. Said roof was extremely deteriorated and solar should never have been installed in the first place. Then it took me over a month to get an appt to get the solar panels removed so I could get my roof redone, back and forth with them because they said the homeowner needs to be there, but will not compensate for lost work time.

Then finally get roof done and two week later soonest appt, again homeowner must be there without compensation to lost wages and they will not do the re-install of panels because the roof is too weak. WTF, seriously, so your company is claiming that it was fine to put on the panels before, but now that there is a new roof it's no longer fine. And that would also mean that your claim is the roofers are stupid enough to lay shingles down over bad wood instead of replacing it. I will never ever refer your company to anyone and as soon as I can get out of this contract the better.

They will be nice and pretend to be nice while you are signing the contract and before the install. It will be a completely different story after. They will MANDATE directly debiting your account without you having any idea how much they will deduct. If you do not agree, they will NOT GIVE YOU access to your bills and yet send threatening debt collections to you each time. For almost a year, they have blocked online access and refused to send any bills. Instead they will claim they cannot mail any bills and they also cannot email any bills. You will only have ONLINE access if you allow them to automatically deducting any amount from your account each month. However, our SDG&E bill was incorrect the first month and it’s almost impossible to get ahold of SDG&E because they weren’t supposed to bill me for the electricity, but they did. They took that on my account. And when I tried to call, based on many numbers they pass me off to, I finally gave up trying to get ahold of them. So I’m in this process of having to deal with SDG&E. I don’t know that the solar company has any responsibility in that. Nevertheless, it is a glitch. Other than that, the electricity bill is much lower. Normally, it would be $200 and it was only 80.

Willy, the salesperson from Vivint Solar, came by my house, and talked to me about the solar panels. We went back and forth for quite a while before I decided to go with it and the system was activated on September 18. The setup process was very professional and the installation was perfect. It was so quiet, I didn’t know that they were up on the roof. The only noise we had was when they cut through to hang the meter outside.

I missed the point that I was gonna be billed every month. My first bill with Vivint was $40 but the second bill was $140 and I was surprised at that. I’m not sure why that happened. I don’t know if that’s gonna be what happens from now on and I’m evaluating what my savings is gonna be. Although I had a reduction in my cost from PSE&G since my last bill with them was $44 and then my Vivint bill is $140, that’s 180 bucks and that’s not much of a savings. So I was gonna watch it for another month or so, and then I was gonna put a call in to Willy to find out if I missed something in his discussion of what I was gonna receive for having the panels put on our roof. Nevertheless, I recommended two other people for Willy and he went to see them.

I am writing to show how dissatisfied I am with Vivint Solar. Back in 2015 we had solar panels installed. A year later we had a new roof installed because of hail damage. They came out and removed the panels. It took six months to have someone reinstall them and then they were not installed correctly. We have had many technicians come out but when we have problems we do not seem to be able to get any answers or when a technician is scheduled we get the same response. They did not come out because "they were in a car accident." Recently we have been trying to get a home equity loan and I called Vivint Solar and the only way they can be contacted to remove the "lien" on our house is to e-mail filings. I was told that there is no number or person I can talk to. I have been very unhappy with Vivint Solar and would not recommend them to another person.

My utility bills would jump up to $400 every summer. I was looking into going solar because your bill will run the same each month once you got solar. I really liked what Vivint's sales guy told me so I signed up with them. They hooked up my equipment last month and when they came out, they went through the steps and put everything up. They were on schedule and most of the things that they told me worked out just like they said. Their reps have been really nice and they kept me informed of the steps they were going through. Overall, the service was good and I noticed that it didn't take as much equipment as the company I was talking to before. They also gave me the runaround while the guys from Vivint were shooting straight. A couple of my neighbors also got Vivint and took advantage of their offer.

I thought that going solar was a good idea, but I did not have the time to look into it until somebody from Vivint Solar knocked on my door. I had actually heard of them because of an investment I've made in a solar company that went south. A year ago, in October, they talked to me about signing up. Then, they installed it last December, the day after Christmas. However, I did not get the system activated until sometime in August of this year. The customer service provided by Vivint Solar was okay. They were constantly saying, "Well, you have to recall what it's like, how did we do this", and it was kinda overdone, though.

Also, every once in a while, UPS tells me that the voltage is dropping below 117. It has been doing this just recently and I'm wondering what is going on because there is not much going on in terms of electric usage at the moment. In the house, there is no air conditioning going on. There is no nothing, so it is just collecting solar and sending it back. It is producing electricity and I'm not using much. Still, overall, I am satisfied with the decision to go solar. I have also recommended Vivint Solar to a friend already and they just got theirs installed.

I called to schedule re-install after roof was done. Scheduled for 2 weeks to re-install. Vivint called to say they made a mistake and rescheduled for another 6 weeks out. They showed up on time but did not finish the job. Never contacted me. Just left. I called them to finish the job, they said they were book up for two months but would try to schedule something sooner. After a few more calls I finally got a date 3 weeks out. But then the next day that I received my refund, they withdraw again my bank account to cover another customer bill. That was a month ago, and even dough I spoke with a customer advocate in Vivint Solar and with a supposed supervisor in the billing department, I haven't received my refund. I sent another email asking to get reimbursed, they finally answer that my refund will be processed in 6 or 8 weeks. We just started a contract with another company and the rep from Vivint Solar came to the door. He and my husband were talking and my husband liked him. So, we ended up switching to them. Our salesman was a great guy and we had no problems with the installation. Our first APS bill was minus 33 and I’m satisfied with that. However, the other company’s contract was the same price for 10 years and then, it went down the next 10 years. Vivint Solar kept going up until it was a lot more than we were paying before. In that sense, it was not the wisest move, unless we can pay it off.

The incentive was supposed to be a $1,500 check and we got ripped off, Gene, my husband, mistakenly gave the rep our physical address to mail it to and he mailed it to the wrong address. However, he gave him the PO box so it should have been here three weeks ago. Now, he’s not taking Gene’s calls, and he changed his phone number. Maybe he took the money and went somewhere else. We had a vacation planned and we took time off work. We don’t have paid vacations so we lost money not only from the check but from not working too. So that was very frustrating.

However, I’ve had three roof leaks and so I called them out. Everywhere they put those things, they didn’t seal around them, and I had a small leak when the heavy rain came. The roof leaks caused me some problems. They said it wasn’t their fault, so I had to get a roofer to come out here. The man came out and took pictures. All those things up on the roof, where they put the spikes down, had leaks around them and they needed to be sealed. I also called them about two weeks to make arrangements and I called one person yesterday to have something taken off. Overall, I’m not gonna recommend anybody to Vivint Solar.

Our friends have had Vivint Solar for four years and they really like it. I did some research and finally, I called. I got this really nice fella in Utah by the name of Austin. We went over the program and I said, “Let's do this.” Vivint Solar does a lease program and we decided to go that route. We didn’t buy because at our age, we won't be here in 30 years. That was in April and because of all of the inspections, we didn’t get permission to turn on until the 7th of September. When we got the permission to operate, I went out according to what I was told and I flipped the lever to on. But that wasn’t all of it. There was another thing you had to turn and another thing you had to flip, but nobody told me that. It wasn’t in my email. I called and told them what the situation was. They said that they would put in a claim for that.

Also, a rep called me and she was nice but she had a little trouble explaining why there would be no compensation at this time. I told her that everything was documented and that there should be something. I found out that we were not charged for the time we didn’t have the solar and that was the compensation. I asked why she didn’t tell me that in the first place. She was just like I was, a worker bee, repeating to me what she was told to repeat to me. I told her that if that was the compensation, I'm very okay with that. She apologized and I told her I wasn’t looking to have them pay me over $1,000 for PG&E. My intention was to be sure that they didn’t charge us for solar that we didn’t have. I thanked her and we were good. It was a roundabout way, but the issue was solved to my satisfaction.

We believe that solar was the best way for us to go. The service is good and as far as we know, everything is working fine. If it isn’t, Vivint Solar will call, come out, check it, and make sure that it is. We can't tell whether the system is on or not, but we feel comfortable with it. We look at the account and what's going on. I would recommend Vivint Solar. I'd tell friends to call and talk to them and see whether they wanna go for it.

It took so long before the system got to be activated, which sounds ridiculous to me, and since I got a bill for $44 in October and now I got another one for $66 the other day, I'm not sure I made a wise decision. I thought it wasn't supposed to be very expensive. And I'm not very impressed with the customer service provided. They never called me back. They should improve responding to emails and phone calls. He explained so we went ahead with them. It was a very slow process on their part though. They would say we gotta get city inspector, our tech rep, and PG&E all out here. One would show up and the other two wouldn’t or two would show up and the other one wouldn’t. It was mistake after mistake. It should have been done in about three weeks but it took three months. We should have been operational around July but we didn’t get going until September.

They talked a good game but the follow-up with service techs and scheduling them was subpar. It should have been better. Also, the additional panels took way too long to start showing its effect. Another thing was maybe they were too busy and they couldn’t handle the appointments that they have or what they were doing, but it worked fine. I got my Vivint alarms for the house first. Everything was good with that insulation. Next I decided to go Vivint Solar in January. First the salespeople were nice. They were very supportive. Until all the problems started coming. First it was they did not have financing here in Nevada yet. So I had to wait 1 month. For their financing to get approved in Nevada.

Then I had to call almost every week to find out where the process was. There was no Communication with me at all. After a lot my text messages and calls to Vivint. That is how I got Vivint helping me. That's how I got the best communication was for me to always contact them of where the process was. Then Vivint finally upgraded my panel. Then they came out installed all my panels and the other electrical. Then I didn't hear anything for over a month and I contacted them again. Then I asked Vivint, why the city inspector hasn’t come out yet to inspect my time use meter box. Now they finally told me that the city has a design change they want them to do on the prints. It is now over 2 months and design prints haven't been done and submitted. I contacted Vivint Solar today. Still no movement.

Then an electrician from Vivint came to my house to install the design changes that the city of Henderson wanted. I asked him why it took so long to get these parts. He told me that he was asked to order these parts over a week ago. When I've been waiting for over 3 months for these parts. He only installed one lockout device on my breaker. He said next week the other part should be in for him to install that one. A month goes by and he finally comes out to install the other part that was requested by city of Henderson. These parts should have been ordered over 3 months ago.

All the above happened after I called and text message with no answers from anybody from Vivint. Nobody returns my message and calls. If I send a text message or call Jessica ** (executive resolution specialist). I get very little communication back from her. Now I am paying on my solar loan for 2 months. Vivint has sent me back 2 months of my loan payments. Jessica ** said this was a favor from Vivint to me to make these payments back to me. Now it is the third month and I have to make another payment. No solar yet at my house.

Then I saw NV Energy has an incentive payment that is supposed to come to me. Over $1,200. But on the NV Energy incentive documents. The documents they sent over to NV Energy. It shows, Brenda at Vivint gets my incentive. Contacted Jessica ** about this at Vivint Solar. She said they took it off of my loan amount. I asked her 2 things. "This is a loan and purchase not a lease. Show me where I signed for this to happen. Also show me where it came off my loan amount." She sent me the loan contract and on paragraph 24 it shows I get the incentives. It shows on their website I get the incentives from NV Energy. Now I'm in the process of waiting for NV Energy to inspect this and hang the meters. So Vivint can start my solar. They are trying to appropriate my incentive money. I will send you all these documents and more. This is a scam company.

I have a number of people in my community that have Vivint solar panels up on their roofs. I was hesitant but I thought about solar panels so I called Vivint and I asked for someone to come out and speak with me. I ran a business for 30 years before I retired so I have a pretty good way of analyzing people sitting around me as to whether they're giving me a sales pitch or being truthful with me. And I was hardly impressed by the young man that came out to speak to me.

I knew that solar is probably the wave of the future. When I spoke with this fella we looked into the ins and outs of it. He brought out and even wrote down for me the negative aspects. He told me what they offer to help with those and that in the end, I should come out in the positive. I also had about five negatives of my own that I thought were a lot more important than the ones he had shown me. He was very nice to answer them.

The enenrollment was a simple process. The regulatory side with the township and with PECO, however, started out to be a struggle. But I know somebody politically in my area and I asked her if she could put some fuel on the fire, and she did. It was amazing, even Vivint Solar said they can't imagine how I got this done as quickly as I did.

PECO told me that once their final investigation was over and approved, I could push the lever on the meter box outside to go live. But that wasn't true because Vivint Solar had to have a go-ahead letter and they were not in possession of that go-ahead letter when I pushed the lever. Legally, I went live around the middle of September. When Vivint Solar called to say I can go ahead, I told them I already did. Now, my PECO cost for electricity has gone down, which I understand, but because I'm paying 12.5 cents per kilowatt hour to Vivint, it's overbalancing my savings from PECO. Not by much though. But I understand that we're going into the period of the year where the solar part is going to minimize because there are less hours of sunlight going into the solar panels. It's producing fewer kilowatt hours of solar power.

In that case then, when we get into the late spring and through summer, the kilowatt-hours produced by the solar panels x 12.5 cents would be my cost. The way I see this, it's gonna be outrageously higher than the PECO electric charge. I understand that for every kilowatt-hour produced by the solar panels, it cuts back on PECO energy's kilowatt-hours. But a PECO kilowatt hour is at a cost of about eight cents, and every kilowatt-hour produced by the solar panels is at 12.5 cents. Where's my savings? I'm being told that in the late spring and summer season, there will be a lot more solar kilowatt-hours produced. In some months it will override the kilowatt hours used from PECO and I will have no PECO electric cost.

The problem is Vivint's website stinks. It shows minimal information. To somebody who's not up-to-date with solar energy, with pure electric energy, and doesn't care what their bill is, it would be okay. But for somebody like me who studies solar energy, electric power and costs before doing it, it matters a lot. What matters, even more, is my wife was ultimately against putting solar panels on the roof because the company had to drill into the roof to put what holds the panels. The holes could possibly cause a leak. I had to explain to her why that thought of hers was wrong.

Other than those, my experience has been great. Vivint has been over useful. Everything that I've asked for and everything that they told me has been up to snuff, other than we still would have to see how the cost works out at the end of 12 months. I wanna go a full cycle because there are supposed to be months in there that I will have no electric cost from PECO. When I average it over a 12-month period and if I come out ahead because of the solar panels up in the roof, then I'm a happy person. But if it comes out that I got screwed by Vivint, I'm certainly not gonna be very happy. But they keep selling solar and California is now mandating solar on new homes. I can't see how I can end up losing here. I'm going into it with a positive mindset.

If I come out even, I won’t be happy but I would be understanding. I'm stuck on a 20-year contract and if there are gonna be issues, they would be legal issues because I'm not gonna end up paying more than what I was paying for the next 20 years. I would be 93 years old by then and I don't know whether I'd even be here.

Don’t go to Vivint Solar unless you want these three things to happen. Here is my customer ratings and review testimony about Vivint Solar: 1. Display crooked wire across the front of the roof. That means everyone can see their shoddy work. I can understand that there may or may not be flexibility on wire placement on the roof, but simple straight lines or L lines would be a much improvement. You would logically think the goal is to hide the wires best as possible would be the goal. The installers must have tried their best to show wiring for everyone to see. Apparently the sales rep mentioned that the lines could have been placed in the back of the roof out of front view. At least sales has common sense.

    2. Watch out for the install staff using your signature to complete the work order. Apparently the installers forged my name on the work order after the installation. If they care, they should investigate this issue clearly. 3. Expect no response the company. Unfortunately I had to make contact with customer service direct. Don’t expect a follow up when they do a terrible job. At the end of the day, they are holding me to the contract as they claim I signed the completed work order, which I explained in #2 did not happen. My wife and I work very hard for our house. The exposed shoddy wire work is a complete insult on the way we live. We basically have to look at this crap job. I would advise they fix the issue right away.

Our neighbor said Vivint Solar sounded like a pretty good deal. He tried it, he was a year ahead of us. He gave us a salesman's name, Mark. Mark contacted us, set up an appointment, and talked to us about the system. He explained the process a little bit as well as some of the steps that would result if we decided to go through with it. My wife had a couple of questions about the design. She wanted to make it more aesthetically pleasing on the roof, balance off the rows so there would be no partial rows, and try to hide the wiring as much as possible. All the technicians were very courteous when they were out here. They were polite and they were very receptive to ideas we had of hiding the conduit in the pipes so it didn't appear as visible from the street. They were very good at doing all that.

It's been two months that we've had Vivint. I had a problem with the system where it wasn't up and running. When I was going online to check the status of the account, I found that I wasn't reading anything. After the system was installed, somebody should have contacted whoever had the new system and say that they were checking it out and that everything was good. They should walk you through it if you have a problem or tell you what needs to be done for start up. It took me at least two weeks to finally to get the problem resolved.

I called the company twice. The first guy said to give it a couple of days. I was on the impression that as soon as the system was reading, you would see it on your account. You could check the status of whatever it made or burned. But it wasn't talking at all. When I called back the second time, which was about a week later, I told them I was still not getting anything and also what the first guy told me. I was then told that I should be reading something. Something didn't sound right so they were sending somebody out.

A service guy came out. We found that there was a second box and the switch was off on it. Apparently, when the electrical inspector came, he must have pulled those switches off. When I got the email to start the system, it said to find a box, flip the switch off, etc. I did that. I checked the fuse box but nothing happened. I didn't know there were two boxes. I told the service guy that and he was really good at explaining. He walked me through and showed it to me, so now I know where they are. I also told him about the thing that's talking to the computers. The device talks to the cable or the computer and it wasn't working or reading. He agreed about that and he went through it. When everything got up and started, it was fixed. He made sure it was communicating so that was good.

I'm now on second payment with Vivint. By the time we found the problem and they got it fixed, it was near the end of the billing cycle. I'm hoping that by the next time, I would start seeing a difference in my electrical bill. With my experience, I took a lot of notes so I can give others my notes. I'd tell any new customers that have the service what they should be looking for and to make sure that the technician or whoever installs it shows them everything. They should also ask the technician, "How do I start it off?" They should let the technician show and walk them through it. I'd also tell new customers that they'd not to see immediate savings right off the bat and that they'd have to wait a couple of times. They should watch the communication devices too, if the lights are blinking and not talking. They'd need to call Vivint because nobody's gonna contact them.

We were very hesitant about solar panels for many reasons, but the sales agent was able to convince us that Vivint was the company to go with. He was very knowledgeable and that the company would work with us. We explained that we were planning to install vinyl siding in September/October so solar panel installation should probably be after vinyl installation. Sales agent said that would work because they were booked with installations through end of October/November. He also said that it would be no problem if for some reason we needed solar equipment removed because of siding installation. All we had to do was given him a 1-2 week notice and he would have a team come and remove whatever needed to be removed. There would be no problem.

So we signed all the paperwork necessary. About 2 weeks later, we got a phone call from salesperson that because they had a job cancellation, they could come in a couple of days to install solar panels. Again, we reminded him that we had no problem them coming sooner, but we were not installing the vinyl siding until September/October. Again we were reassured that as long as we gave him 1-2 week notice there would be no problem. I called sales agent on September 24 and again on September 29, because we needed the electric boxes removed or loosen for the vinyl installation. He would call us back with info. Then response for days. I began calling the company, spoke to 9 different agents who were all polite, caring, and really wanted to help me with the problem.

Their response after speaking to a supervisor, they would tell me that supervisor was having a meeting with her team to try to resolve the problem, that she would call me back, that she needed more information, more meetings before a resolution. Last response was that it had now turned into a she said-he said! My contractor, who was coming every day and installed the back, front and 1 side of the siding, has now gone on to other jobs. And we are stuck with an uncooperative company, solar panels that don't work because of the delay, boxes of siding as well as equipment in the backyard because of the uncooperative solar panel company! Any suggestions? One lesson we did learn, we will not be referring any of our family and friends to deal with Vivint, and any chance we get we will be telling anyone who will listen about the poor service we have received.

I have requested Vivint to take the solar panels off my roof so I can replace the shingles on the roof with a brand new roof. However, I have talked to Brylar for close to an hour 10 days ago, and today talked to Emma for 20 minutes without a scheduled date to remove these unimpressive panels which has not saved any money. I may have signed a contract, but I had no authority to do so. I am also unemployed but a retired computer engineer. I asked politely but it goes like this. Either you come by the end of this week so I can hire another roofer, or I will disconnect the panels from the internet and will have the owner of the house not pay the bill. I am a man of my word and am super frustrated with your customer service. You promised savings. NADA!! You promised to come and take the panels off the roof if I was to replace it. NADA!!

You informed the owner of the house that the panels were not working correctly 6 months to a year ago either by phone or thru email. You also said we qualified for more panels. Nothing has happened. During major rainstorms, the rain pours past the gutters and onto the ground and could end up flooding my basement. What are you going to do about that? I suspect NADA!! Also in the middle of the winter, Your people came to my house a day after a 15 to 20 inch snowstorm and was shoveling ice and snow off my roof, then caused damage to my roof. You had some deadline back then but when your customer needs your help to take them off to do a roofing project, you have no time for the customer. How dare you?

On top that, your panels are not performing as the contract reads. And we are not paying to have them taken off. Why? Cuz I taped your salesman on my phone and nowhere did he say I would have to pay. Also, I am legally blind and told the salesman that. So if you do not come by the end of the week, I am your worst nightmare. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. Like I said, I am a retired computer engineer and will figure out how to disconnect the panels from the internet and from any satellite connection. I will also be taking the panels off the roof myself and going back to PSEG. If I have to, I will be filing a class action suit against Vivint for being a scam company. And I will use the tape of your salesman to make my case. Give me a call. You have my number. And make it sooner than later. I'll settle for $100K.

I have done some checking and apparently my issue is not isolated. I strongly recommend staying away from Vivint at all costs. Since Vivint refuses to follow anything resembling upstanding business practices, I have been forced to proceed with seeking further assistance to address issues with this "company." Vivint Solar is charging for a service they never provided. I am supposed to be billed based on the amount of energy I produce. My new system has been live right around 2 months. In the month of Oct 2018 I got bills from Vivint and JCP&L for power. The JCP&L was the typical $117 I pay this time of year. The bill from Vivint was a touch over $128. After several calls to Vivint it was determined that they were charging me based off an estimate because their system wasn't properly connecting and reporting production numbers. This resulted in my power company charging me as they always do since I used their power.

On 10/16/2018 I spoke with 2 Vivint employees and had the second send me an email confirming that there was a reporting issue on their end. I told them I would not be paying for a service I never received and I will pay the power company who is charging me for using power from them. Today, 10/22/2018 Vivint went ahead and charged me even though we had already discovered an issue with their system. I called again today and was basically told that their contract allows them to charge me regardless of errors on their end and even though I am only supposed to be charged for the power I produce.

I was initially told on 10/16 that I should expect a call within 5 business days, documented in the email from Vivint. I was told today that it can take between 14 and 30 days for them to review my case even though we already know what the issue is. I was also told they would continue billing me and it can take up to 2 billing cycles before I received an adjustment. As of this time I have been charged for Aug and Sept although their system showed 0 production for those months. The Vivint portal shows, and was confirmed on today’s call, that they resolved an issue with my system on 10/4 which allowed proper communication of production to themselves and my power provider.

This company's customer service is the worst I have dealt with. I bought a house with solar panels already installed and as the new owner, I had to have the contract transferred over. I have had many issues so far: Not getting statements, different per kW/hr charge than previous owner, login not working. They didn't inform us on anything... Didn't even send an email saying we had to create an online account. Once I did create an account, nothing was showing up. Apparently since new wifi was installed (as it always is with a new owner) the solar company had to come and reconnect the receiver to the new internet.

When I called Vivint Solar, they rudely suggested I was suppose to know that. Then I had to call 3x just to schedule someone to come out because the scheduling department was never calling me back! Once my statements finally were appearing online, I realized I got charged $5 every month for not having a banking account linked online. I wish I did more due diligence on my part prior to going under contract on the home, now I'm stuck in this contract with a terrible company where I need to call every week just to find out basic information... And I'm not even saving any money in the process!

My husband and I had inquired a little bit about Vivint Solar but we had heard that you have to have spent a certain amount of money to get it. We weren't sure that we qualified and I wanted to let my son use them for a year and tell us how he felt about it before we jumped into it. Dave came to our house and he was excellent. He explained everything to us, went over everything and anything, and answered any questions that we had. He was top-notch as far as explaining everything, the ins and outs, and what was gonna happen. At the time that we had it done and they did the evaluation, we were spending time in California with our other son and grandchildren, from January to March. Now, we decided not to go as often, so we haven't been going for the last two years now. So we called Dave back, and they came and reevaluated and added some more panels for us on another part of the roof.

The enrollment was very easy and they were very prompt when they said they were going to come, they were on time, and they cleaned up afterward. Everything went so smoothly. It has saved us money and we're very satisfied with it. I would definitely encourage others about Vivint Solar. Almost every bill that we've had has been lower than what it was when it was just with National Grid.

One of Vivint’s ‘scouts’ knocked on my door to pitch solar energy. I allowed the ‘scout’ to do his pitch to me on my front stoop out of curiosity over solar but soon realized this service was not something I wanted. At that point my 6 month old was crying audibly from inside my home almost waking my 2 year old who was napping. I informed the ‘scout’ I was not interested and had to attend to my infant and to not come back later. The scout then continued to press the matter and replied ‘so you wouldn’t want 6k? Ok that’s crazy, I’ll be back later’ even after I stated multiple times I did not want to do business with Vivint solar. This tactic of pushing and not backing down after I declined service is deplorable especially if a person has to attend to their children. I would hope you better train your ‘scouts’ to listen to the people they are trying to pitch to for your solar panels.

I have the Vivint system on my 2,600 square foot home and delighted with it. I have 26 panels. It was installed in the fall of 2016. I'm on the POP (Pay on Production) program. The first year my true-up was a little more than $600. This year $0. I'm happy as a lamb. If I were reviewing only my system I would give it 5 stars.

Now, I own a home in Gustine, CA which I also had the system installed. 20 panels. The difference is last year my son (who rents the home) had a $1,200 true up and so far (Oct. 2018) his true up is $800.00. After calling about what seems a very high true up they sent a tech out to check. This was either late last year or the beginning of 2018. The tech told my son the system was obsolete and didn't work well. We have been questioning this ever since. Today (Oct. 19, 2018) I learned his system is disconnected. I went into his account online to find there is no record of production this year at all. Yet he gets a bill every month and every month his true up goes up and up. I asked Jessie in customer service to stop billing him until the system is running as agreed. Her response was "we don't do that".

They fix it then make a monetary adjustment. This house is about 1,000 square feet smaller than my home. I've requested this system which was said to be obsolete and doesn't work well to be removed and replaced with a system known to work as it should. I'll come back and rate Vivint once everything is working as the contract states.

I liked the Vivint Solar rep's approach and his professionalism, and I wanted to hear him out. I let him into my house to talk about Vivint Solar. The fact that I could do solar energy at my age with no investment, and put back into the grid, and ultimately, get a little bit of savings was a no-brainer to me. It was very easy to get enrolled and started with Vivint Solar. I was confused about how the billing would work once Vivint was set up, and I didn’t realize I’d be paying both companies. Other than that, everyone I talked to at Vivint has delivered as they said they would. That’s very refreshing in this day and age where you get promises and they’re not kept. This way, I’m 100% behind Vivint, and I would recommend them to any of my friends. I’d also recommend my sales rep, Dave. He’s honest, he knows the product, and he’d give others a good basis to make their decision on.

I would never recommend this company for solar panels! My mom agreed to allow this company to put solar panels on her roof with the understanding that the solar panels would produce enough to lower her electric bill significantly. This has NOT been the case! First Vivint Solar sent someone out to assess the roof to make sure the shingles had enough life to hold the solar panels. This person said our roof was good for another 10+ years. The panels were installed and our house leaked terrible during the first hard rain and every hard rain thereafter until roof repair. The water leaked thru to the garage and has caused mold along with a ruined ceiling. Who knows what kind of mold and damage is behind the walls. My mom is a widower with serious medical problems, so was not able to call and is not good at complaining.

Months later we did have the roof replaced and new panels reinstalled but the damage was never addressed or repaired. During all this time our solar panels were not hooked up. Our panels were not able to be turned on for OVER 3 YEARS. Yes, you heard that right, It took over 3 YEARS for Vivint to FINALLY get our solar panels up and running. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

To add to our disappointment, after Vivint sent a contractor out to dug up the cable from the electric panel at the house down to the electric box by the road to upgrade the cable, the contractor left the trench open beside our house for months. We had several hard rains and our basement flooded worse than EVER BEFORE more than a few times. We did not realize until months later that the water was coming in by the cable and trench that had been dug by Vivint Solar's contractor. Turns out the contractor had hit the conduit covering to our water well and water was pouring thru the conduit into our basement like a faucet. The trench was filled in months later after multiple calls to Vivint but it was not apparent the conduit was hit until after the trench was filled.

Vivint had to be contacted yet again and we are currently still waiting for a different contractor hired by Vivint to dig up and repair the conduit correctly. We are also still waiting for an estimate on the mold remediation and repair to the basement from the flooding and also the repair to the ceiling in the kitchen, living areas of our home. It is going on 3.5 years and my mom now has Pancreatic cancer. She is unable to advocate for herself and I am trying as best I can to be her voice to get things corrected.

Another thing we have found is over the last few months, now that we finally have the solar panels hooked up and working, our electric bill has been higher the same months during previous years. We really thought we would see the significant savings that we were promised during the sales pitch for the Vivint panels. Again, we have been very VERY unhappy with the whole process. I am not even sure if my mom will live long enough to see any real benefit in agreeing to receive these panels although the promise was made to her. In summary, Again, I would not recommend this solar Company to anyone after the experience my mom and I have had.

The cost of electric and gas fluctuates in the spring and the summertime versus the fall and the winter. The gas bill is really cheap during the summertime whereas electric is higher because you run your AC. There are two people in house and we were paying a lot. It shouldn't be that amount. We were thinking whether we needed to cut back somewhere or we were doing something wrong. But with the way things are now, trying to have cleaner air and going green, I thought going solar was a better move. It was a good time and a better opportunity for us moving forward in terms of using electricity.

The representative from Vivint Solar gave me details and was very professional. He was able to answer every question I asked. He showed it to me in black and white, and I was impressed. It’s all about how you present yourself on a product that you’re trying to sell. With a lot of businesses that I've dealt with in the past, they have representatives who have the basic knowledge, but not in detail. When I started asking more technical questions, in terms of how the system was gonna benefit me in the long run if I choose this plan or that plan, he knew it without even actually opening up a pamphlet and showing me something that’s preprinted. He got it remembered, which was impressive.

He was on top of his game. I was satisfied and I also discussed it with my neighbor. I didn’t know he had recently got his done and that was the deciding factor there. At the same time, I had to go and do my own homework to see what kind of reviews they have. They're not gonna impress everybody or meet everybody's needs. But if the majority is not in their favor then that’s a red flag on that, versus if the majority is positive. The experience was also not like when you deal with some companies. When they come out and give their pitch on their product, it’s like they’re trying to make a sale right then to where you feel like you're being pressured. They're probably making money off commission but in the end, I would say I'm not interested and then I would get attitude.

He had also given me the full rundown on how long it would take from this to this, to this. So I was thinking, I would probably just be getting the panels now. But everything moved quickly, from my HOA approving it and everything. And the process took less than two months. So it was good. I was impressed. And from beginning to end and even now, about a month and a half since I had the panels on, they’ve been in constant contact. If not through call, they would email to see how everything is going, if I’m satisfied or if I've got any issues. So the customer service has been great.

Going solar seemed like a pretty good deal because there wasn’t any upfront cost. I also like the idea of getting my energy from a different company than SDG & E. Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy though it seemed like a little bit of a hard sell. It was one of those deals where they had these first round door-to-door salesmen who, when I sounded interested, sent the next level up salesperson who was much more knowledgeable and was able to explain things a bit better. At one point, it seemed like it was too good to be true and that made me very wary. So when I finally called them up, I told them I still didn’t understand how they'd be able to do it without costing me anything. They then explained how the process worked.

The installation itself went really quickly but they had to get different inspectors out and that took longer. Then, it still took a while before the panels got turned on. So I had them up for six months at least but nothing was happening with them. Also, I thought that going solar would save me a little bit more money but I’m starting to get the bills now and they’re a little bit higher than I thought they would be. Other than that, their sales deal was that if I could get somebody else to sign up, I would get $500 back. So I told my friends about their offer but no one pursued it. Then one time, a different group of Vivint's reps were walking around in the neighborhood and they were a little aggressive in questioning me why I hadn't gotten somebody else to sign up.

I collected everything and they had an inspector come out after the job was all done. I showed them to him and he asked if he could have it. Despite this, I would still recommend Vivint. We filled out some paperwork to enroll with Vivint Solar and they also did some research on their end to see if we were qualified.

After the solar energy system was installed, though, it wasn’t working. There’s an app that we could put on our phone that gives us a status on what the system is producing. But we couldn’t get it to work, so I called the customer service and our interactions with them could be better. The reps told me to do and check some things, then they said that it has only been a couple of days since the system was installed and to give it another short period of time and they would take a look again. About a week later, the system still wasn’t working, so I called again and got the same runaround from the service person.

Finally, the reps said they were gonna push the issue up the line since something that had to do with my account wasn't meshing with Vivint Solar. Our solar energy system is working now, but I had to do three or four calls and it took a long time like a month before they got it to work. Nevertheless, we are very satisfied with our decision to go solar and Vivint Solar is a good choice.

Vivint Solar has been on the home I rent for 3 years. I can’t afford to pay the bill. Because it’s more than what I had to pay PSE&G. Because I was getting a low income subsidy. I will subsidize for 10 years at approximately $130 a month for my Electric. I told the Vivint Solar gentleman and gave them a bill showing them of the monthly payment from Universal Energy assistance. He told me my bill would be much cheaper than that. Now I’m forced to pay much more than I ever paid for electric. They bamboozle me and the landlord of this house. Hello.

I wanted to reduce my electric bill and I saw a neighbor sign up with Vivint Solar. I was told that their system would reduce my electric bill by about 40% a month. That sounded good to me especially in the summertime when I have my air conditioner going. Vivint had to come in and inspect my house, the attic and go to the roof. The city had to come by and inspect it too and I had to take a couple of days off from work. The installation team was okay and they did the job in one day. It took about four months after they put everything on the roof just to turn the system on though.

My electric bill was over $200 and I got a bill from Vivint for $87, and I’m not encouraged. I thought I was just gonna be paying one bill but now I'm paying two bills. I got one from the electric company and one from them. I called Vivint and they told me that they were sorry, but nobody has contacted me since. I'll let the system go for one more month and I’ll shut it off.

I heard about Vivint Solar through my sister in law and the enrollment was flawless. The rep was personable. He talked to me, answered every question, and was able to answer and confirm stuff I knew. It took two and a half months from the beginning until the panels were up and running. Once, I thought I saw an anomaly on the amount of energy detected and they said that occasionally the Wi-Fi would go down and they wouldn't get the signal but that was okay.

Also, I have a perfect house to solar. The salesman came in and explained what solar was. I told him I was interested. He set up a date, and they came out to check out the house and the roof. It went very smoothly. Enrolling with Vivint was easy. The only thing that I objected to was that they did everything on a notebook. So, I didn’t get to read a paper copy of the contract. I’m used to reading paper contracts and I'm not used to reading anything on a notebook. But it went fast, and by the time I got the paper copy, I had signed my name to it without really realizing that that was what I was doing. Other than that, I would recommend Vivint. I was pleased with their work. They were fast, neat and they did what they said they were going to do.

We dye silk and have a steamer, and my electric bill last year was $500. It’s also really hot this year and we don’t have central air conditioning, but we have the wall AC unit. Still, we had a big energy bill. Vivint Solar's reps came to our door and they were very friendly and helpful. They explained everything to me and I was super pleased with their information. When we enrolled with Vivint Solar, the solar energy system had to get inspected by San Diego Gas and Electric but it took two months or so to get SDGE to come out here.

I'm very satisfied, though, with our going solar. We buy electricity from Vivint Solar but our whole solar energy system costs us nothing. We’ve been pleased with them. When I call, they always answer my questions and they come out and double-check everything to make sure that the system working. A month ago, they decided from the way things were going that we both would make or save money by putting in another nine panels on the north side of my roof, so they came out and did that for me.

My neighbors put $18,000 to $20,000 into their system, but at my age I didn’t feel like putting that much money into it. Some people have the money to put in, then they start saving money right away, but it takes a lot of years to make up for $18,000 through savings. I’m getting my electricity cheaper from Vivint Solar and it is saving quite a bit of money for us, but not as much as it is making money for them. Nevertheless, we’ve been pleased with Vivint Solar and I’d tell people to investigate and talk to them.

Several phone calls with customer service, two visits from their technicians which of course concluded their absence of responsibility. A joke, one of them found a roof nail and identified it as the cause of the leaks. One nail for a 24 feet width leak spread!!! The sales representative was completely ineffective and didn't help. No paperwork or report of inspections. A real scam, they charge you to remove the panels if you want to have a professional roofer to inspect. Don't work with them, there are better customer service companies in Long Island.

I took care of everything in enrolling him with Vivint Solar. That experience was great and the process was very easy. My dealings with the customer service rep were excellent.

The lady who came out to do the installation did a great job. She was very pleasant and explained everything. I emailed back and forth with her with questions and she got back to me within five minutes. I had to cancel a couple of our meetings because of something coming up and she told me to let her know when I could do it. I gave her a date and she was here. She followed up after the system was installed and once the switch was pulled on it.

I'm mixed right now, though, with our decision to go solar because three months into it, our next energy bill came right back to what we were paying before with Edison and it did not lower my dad's payment at all or his energy usage. When the salesperson from Vivint introduced the Solar Program they made promises that are still not being kept. Prior to Solar installation my electric bill averaged 95 dollars a month in the summer months while running the AC daily. The average in the Winter months was approximately 80 dollars a month. The salesperson guaranteed I would see a savings of at least 25-50 percent if we used their service. I now pay Vivint between 100 - 140 dollars a month. On top of that I still pay the Electric company 13 dollars per month. There is no SAVINGS with this system, plus Vivint got the TAX REBATE for the installation. This is a classic example of consumer manipulation and rip-off.

I tried to call their office and all I get for an answer is that I do not understand how the billing works. I ask them to explain when to me, and the answer was, “We charge more in the winter to offset the summer.” OK then why am I not seeing the 25 - 50 percent savings? I was told it takes a while. Well the take a while is past due. The next time I called they told me the equipment was not working properly and sent a technician out to look at it, but he did not have the tools or repair parts to troubleshoot it (he had a lot of guesses). The other thing is the system uses my internet to operate, wonder what happens when I turn that off?

So I was planning to sell my home, but Vivint told me the solar could not be moved from California to Florida, and if the new owner did not want to keep the system my only option would be to buy out the contract. I have told them over and over that I only signed for installation, but was never given the contract. I believe if this is a legal contract the savings should be indicated in it and the consumer should not be hijacked to sign for goods not received, ie savings.

When the solar was installed on my home Vivint said they would contact the HOA and show the plans, this never happened and the HOA is not pleased calling this an non authorized installation. After installation the conduit and installation on the side of my new home was sloppy and unprofessional, I had to beg them for weeks on end to come out and correct the problem (too many 90's in the conduit, not professionally bent angles, nothing painted, stucco damaged). Their answer was paint it!

Unfortunately I am not able to sell my home because buyers don't want anything to do with Vivint, and would only commit to buy a new Solar system. I don't know a lot about Vivint, except they are from Utah and had a bad reputation there also. I call on the PUC to Pull the Plug on this company, give the homeowners a chance to reclaim their solar rebates and purchase a system that works for everyone. This is the most ridiculous SCAM that is robbing hard working citizens and ripping off the PUC. Still paying inflated prices and Vivint is reselling the energy from the panels on my home.

Vivint first contacted me through a door-to-door guy about home security. Then, the next thing I know, I got contacted by another guy that was from Solar. The enrollment process was time-consuming. It wasn't that hard, but it's been months to get it done. The salesman told me that it would take roughly three months to get everything installed and then I had to wait for approval from the local power company before it was activated.

About a month before it was activated, my wife heard a story about pigeons collecting under solar panels and nesting there. I raised the issue with the salesman, and he said it’s not a problem with their products and that he had never heard of it happening. Unfortunately, he didn’t know his product very well because needless to say, after the system was activated, I had pigeons nesting underneath the panels. I brought it to his attention and he basically told me that it was my tough luck because I had to pay for it. So I contacted Vivint Solar, and they wouldn’t pay for it. Nobody knows the product very well. They acted like this is new to them and yet it’s happening all over town. I went to four different websites for pest companies and all of them know that it’s a problem and have serviced many people who had to pay for cleaning up and putting guards around so the pigeons don’t get in there.

Since Vivint Solar won't pay for it, I found out that they could order the material to put around the panels, but I would have to pay for it. I thought that having a solar energy service won't cost me anything, but I went ahead and gave them my credit card and they charged me for it. Then, they also said they don’t clean up and I'd have to have somebody do the cleaning, which meant I had to go out and hire somebody, in addition to paying that money for it. They told me that they would call me back in three to four days too. A week went by and nobody called me. I called again after two weeks, but nobody still called me. The service on responding was horrible. So then, I placed a call, and I went ahead and cancelled the order since I was charged for it but never even got it. They told me that it would take four to seven days to get my credit back. So far, I haven’t got my credit.

In the meantime, I contacted a pest company and the guy has done jobs for Vivint, doing exactly the same thing--cleaning up and putting the guard rails around the sides. I went ahead and got the job done by somebody else. I'm out $500 more for getting it done, but it was cheaper than what Vivint was gonna charge me for the material alone. Vivint Solar needs to make sure they tell people that there’s a pigeon problem and not just ignore it.

The fine print didn't mention anything about what the salesman told me. I should have listened to my gut instinct and not gone ahead with it. We have had our solar for almost a year now and our bill has more than doubled. With PNMs (Power New Mexico) basic regular bill of now almost $13 and Vivint charging me 13 cent per Kwh from the start, our average $25 summer bills have gone over $60 total. I am a teacher making crap for pay and supporting a family of 3. I don't appreciate being ripped off, as well as being lied to. People that are not satisfied should be able to break their 20 yr. lease without penalty. We should also be told about all the implications involved in getting solar with Vivint.

I am 100% satisfied with my decision to go solar with Vivint. My electric provider was kind of high and I wanted to save on electricity, so I figured going solo would be good as well as going green. Signing up with Vivint Solar was easy. Everybody was kind and easy to deal with, and also very courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. I've had a very good experience talking to their reps who were very understanding. I've had a lot of questions and they answered all of them. Then, if I called and talked to somebody else, I'd get the same answer. This gave me a lot of confidence. Also, whenever I've had problems, they've explained everything to me. The only thing was the inspections took a long time, but other than that, going solar with Vivint is worth it in the long run.

Our neighbor across the street has Vivint and David, the rep, who was going door-to-door to solicit business, made such a favorable impression on me. Normally, I would slam the door but I didn't, which meant that he was great. He was very knowledgeable and he answered my questions. His presentation and the system's cost-saving feature had a lot to do with our decision to go solar with Vivint. Also, David already looked at my roof and knew pretty well how to install it without being so obvious out on the street side. I never would allow anybody to do it because most of them wanna put them out on the very front of the house.

Going with Vivint was a nice and easy transition. All we did was go out and turn the switch. However, we haven't received any statement yet, so we don’t know where we stand financially on this thing. I've called Edison to find out why we haven't received the statement from them and I've done this twice. However, they kept telling me that I probably won't receive a statement from them before the 1st of November. Nevertheless, our experience with Vivint Solar has been very favorable so far. We're as happy as we can be with the whole system and I have recommended them.

A Vivint Solar guy came to the house and going green and saving money sounded like a good idea. Plus, we know that our house is in a good area and we get a lot of sun. We’re very happy with our decision to go solar. The rep was very good, nice and knowledgeable. He was also very presentable and dressed well. We were very happy with him. Vivint Solar did the installation and everything was done in a prompt and efficient manner. The installers were really good. They came out and worked their bones off. They had so many solar panels and they were up and down. They did really well. However, Vivint Solar was a little slow on the end where they had to go through PECO. We were hoping that it would be done sooner, but it took a little longer than we thought. Then it took longer for the PECO guy to come out to tell us we could flip the switch. But as soon as we flipped it, the experience was great. We talk to anybody we know about Vivint Solar.

A representative from Vivint Solar walked up to my door and convinced me to switch to solar energy services. He told me that the solar equipment is free, but they belong to Vivint. I had some concerns about that because I didn’t want anybody to put a lien on my house, but he told me that they wouldn’t do that as the services are not free. Everything he said was true. But at the time when they were putting Vivint’s system in, I got suspicious because they had to put a meter in my house and the rep had told me before that I don’t need one as I already had one. Also, I had some concerns because they wanted me to sign some papers online and I didn’t want to do that at first, but it turned out okay in the end. I was having second thoughts in the middle of the process, but then I told myself that I was gonna go ahead and do everything, and everything worked out pretty well.

The process of enrolling with Vivint was easy. There was no charge for the installation, so that was good. My mom is under a care thing and the rep told me that they were gonna increase the service fee for everybody else, but my energy bill was gonna remain pretty much at the same level, so that was good. So far, everything has been going well with the service of Vivint Solar and I’m very satisfied with my switching to solar energy services.

My friend at work highly recommended Richard as a salesman for Vivint Solar. I was really apprehensive about going with them, but he was excellent. He walked me through the whole application process and told me everything that I was afraid of. He also told me all about the inspections and that a lady would come. He was just very reassuring to me that everything would go smoothly, and it did. The lady came, went through the attic and the cellar, and did all the measurements and pictures. The installation was awesome, too. The guys were great. We just had one issue though, but Richard took care of that and explained more in-depth about things.

So far, we like going solar with Vivint. It greatly reduces the electric bill. It helps the economy, too, as they’re not using as much electricity and the solar helps out during the day. The only thing I don’t like is I don’t have a computer, so it’s hard for me to follow everything as far as billing. But, that’s my problem. We got into solar energy when the gentleman from Vivint Solar came to our door. We discussed it and I rushed that day and agreed to have it done. Then I had a yard full of their guys when they did the installation. The driveway was completely occupied and they took over, but they got it finished. However, my experience in enrolling with Vivint Solar was a little inconvenient. I wasn’t sure what was going with it till I got through it. It is an experience where a customer has to have a little help to start with it and it could have been explained just a touch more, but the system was just handed to us and we had to figure out for ourselves what was going on in the house. Still, it's a good thing and it was just something new that I had to get experienced with.

Since having the solar energy system, the house stays a little cooler without having to turn on the air conditioning. Also, our dealings with the customer service reps have been satisfactory. So far, I'm okay with my decision to go solar. I haven't had the solar energy system very long, so I'm not quite used to it yet, but I'm getting there.

Updated on 03/27/2019: If I can do one thing by writing a review of Vivint Solar it will be to deter anyone and everyone from ever using them. Last May we had additional panels installed on our roof and are still dealing with Vivint's non existent post installation customer service to have it turned on and generating money saving electric. We are in contact with an ever changing list of contacts at Vivint and most recently have been told that we are responsible to have our panels recognized by the local (PGnE) power company. BS! If anyone reading this has a good lawyer please respond.

Original Review: When we bought our home it already had Vivint solar. We took on a power purchase agreement. At the end of the first year there was a True Up bill of almost $5000. Ridiculous, to say the least. We replaced some high usage items like an AC with newer more cost effective units. The following year the True Up was still over $2000. We contacted Vivint. They installed 14 more panels in May of this year. It is now October and they still haven't procured a permit from the city. Needless to say the real estate on my roof that Vivint's panels are on is worthless until the switches are flipped and my new system starts producing power. Vivint is non-responsive. My advice- go with the local guy and buy your system.

The installation was good and the solar energy system was put in as I requested. They installed it in the west side of the roof of the auxiliary garage. They got the panels placed and everything is good. Both the Edison and the County Clary inspections were done. The solar energy system was up and running shortly after it was installed. It was an easy process and with the expenditure, we got value for the money. We had a good, positive experience with Vivint Solar. We're happy with our decision to go solar. We were looking at two companies to install solar in the community that we lived in and Vivint Solar came to the door. Their presentation was very good and we were assured that because they would be charging us less for our electric, it would go down. I wasn’t expecting it to be $0 or even $25, but it came back at a 133 and that was just for the electric. My PG&E bill, my gas and electric, used to run right around $150 and this month it was $170 something when you add the two together. So I’m not a happy person. Vivint Solar sold the idea of saving money more than the idea of helping with the environment. They stick on the money issue, which when you’re older and you have a single income and you can’t change that income, it means something. So, that was what we had been looking for or what we had been assured would be happening.

We have been with Vivint for just two months and it took them three months to get it even turned on. My husband and I were on the CARE Program that PG&E offers for older people and they told me that we have to stop that and pay one month of regular electric before they could do anything else. So, I did that knowing that one month would be up a little bit, but it has not changed and I am saving absolutely no money. I would like to have known exactly what my savings might be. I understand that we were simply getting a discount on the electric by paying them for it and they were charging less than PG&E. However, if they were charging less than what PG&E was based on their flatline rather on the Care, I’ve lost everything to this and I’m not pleased with any of it.

The customer service has been really nice and wonderful but they were not helpful. The woman that I talked to first was helpful. She sent me and talked with whoever it was she talked with. She said that somebody would be coming out to take a look at the inverter and make sure there was not a problem there and that someone would be calling me in setting it up to find out exactly what was going on. I talked with a woman yesterday who emailed me. She gave me a case number and said that someone would be in touch with me. The person who got in touch with me told me that I have to provide them with an old PG&E bill of when we were on the CARE Program. I know they already have it because we were giving those to them when I was told we had to change. So, I know they’ve got them and I’m having trouble finding them.

Most of the enrollment process was done online and we interacted with the customer service through email. Daniel came back a couple of times and we filled out paperwork. He was a very nice and personable guy. He would sit and talk to us about different things. Then, the installers came in and put the panels on. The thing that took the longest was getting Edison to approve it so we could finally turn it on. Since using Vivint Solar, our bills are lower but not much. They were telling us, it was gonna be over $200 less, but it's barely $100 less. It's been a very hot summer, so we're waiting for a more regular weather and see what it's like.

During the summer, we would have a high bill like everybody else. When Vivint Solar came to my house in November, we wanted to hear what they had to say. The first girl that we had in December explained what they wanted to do and how the whole thing was gonna happen. We were up in the air about it because we could not believe how can we possibly have a wonderful system and pay zero dollars. Then, I signed the papers and everything was emailed. I was not happy with it but we had the papers printed then read the contract which sounded okay. The girl also told me that if there would be any questions, she could get back with me and she would make sure that we were happy.

But somehow, between December and February, there was no information from anybody. My daughter kept emailing the rep asking what was going on but the rep left the company. So, we talked to an office manager and he set us up. He explained everything, how everything was gonna be and how it was gonna work out. It went great. The guys came and installed the system. They also cleaned up all their mess and there was nothing lying around on the ground. We also had to go through inspection and we had to be approved through Atlantic City Electric which was our main carrier. Then finally, I got a notification from Atlantic City Electric telling us that we were good to go and that we can turn the system on.

So far, it seems to be going well. However, I’m having a little problem with my account online. I don’t wanna be on direct payment and I wanna pay when I wanna pay. I tried to take it off myself and it was not letting me see anything. I just wanna press the button myself that says, “Pay the bill.” That aside, I am very satisfied with Vivint Solar. I have had Vivint Solar for the past 7 months. After receiving by first billing statement I became very alarmed and knew something wasn’t right. I contacted Vivint Solar, my first attempt was to my sales person (Clint ** badge # **) with no response. I then placed one of many calls to their corporate office to get to the bottom of my extremely high billing. I have spent hours on the phone over the past several months trying to find a resolution to this matter with no support, concern or follow through from Vivint Solar. Meanwhile the crazy high bills just keep coming. After doing a lot of research and spending over an hour on the phone with a PG&E Solar Support employee I found the issue. I was informed that the permit that was sent to PG&E by Vivint Solar stated that my kWh usage was 13,000 when in fact it was only 9,700. Vivint Solar then provide me with 39 panels to support 16,000 kWh.

Being that Vivint charges you based on how much energy that is being generated by your panels not by the amount of energy you are using, 16,000 kWh is way over producing for the size of my home and my kWh needs. I have been overbilled and talked in circles for the past 7 months. Not to mention that installation process took over 8 month and was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. My sales person also promised me $250.00 for a referral I made that was never paid. I am now considering this to be a fraud situation and will be seeking legal representation.

I was walking up our street when a salesman from Vivint Solar came and asked if I'd be interested in going solar. I thought about it and then I started out with someone else but they kind of dropped the ball. Vivint's rep came and explained, and he was very thorough, so I decided to go with them. So far, I'm happy with my decision. Everything was great as far as the work.

The final connection was very tough, though. Vivint needs to work on their communication between their workers and their inspectors. Also, although some of their customer service reps were great, some were awful. I knew if someone didn't know what they were talking about, so I would just hang up, call back, and find someone who did. Some people also gave me answers that I knew weren't right. But, my sales guy has the best follow through ever. Every time I had a problem, I would call him and he would address it immediately. He was the shining star. I would recommend him to anyone.

When I agreed to place Vivint solar panels on my roof I explained that I would be remodeling my house at some point in the near future, which would require the panels to be taken down, stored, and put back up. My salesman assured me this would be done for $500. When I called to have them taken down Vivint attempted to bill me $1,800. I explained to the representative that I was supposed to be charged the agreed upon $500 and she said that they do remove the panels for $500, if the salesperson agreed to it, which he did, but that it would take a few days to get confirmation. I did not get an answer in days, and in fact it has now been NEARLY TWO MONTHS of lies and the worst customer service I have ever seen.

I have filed complaints and called their customer service line constantly since but am repeatedly lied to. Constant promises to call me back are never followed up on, I have filed complaints that have not been addressed, and the panels are still on my roof. Their "Team Leaders" are the biggest liars of all refusing to act on complaints, and stating that I can elevate the issue to "Corporate" or "Human Resources" then refusing to connect me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are dishonest, the savings on my electric bill are minimal after their fees, and their constant delay is holding up my construction and costing me money. I could not regret using this company more.

We had a Vivint Solar Sales Rep walking door to door on a Thursday 9/20/18 in the city San Bernardino, Calif. He was very informative on today's costs of home electric energy consumption and of methods to reduce those costs. He told my wife and I that he could get us more information by Saturday and he would present different solar packages to see what we would best fit our budget. He asked to see an electric bill and asked my wife sign an IPAD to allow him to see the Electric bill information online. Later that night I went online just to check Vivint Solar out and found many complaints of different reasons.

I did not feel comfortable with continuing with getting any more information from Vivint so I called the Rep on next morning Friday 11 am and told him that we decided to not go further with getting any more information, Thank you. On Saturday we found out from our Karma account that Vivint ran a hard line credit report on us. Not at any time did he say he was going to run a credit report on us and neither did we even talk about or approve. I find this method both Illegal and Unethical in any type of interaction from company to consumer.

I allowed the Vivint Solar rep to make his presentation. I was able to know a bit more details about it and that I have to pay a huge upfront cost. I decided to go solar but it has not been a good transition because after that, you’re just left to yourself. First, you gotta wait about six or seven months for it to run. And then they give you a packet to tell, “Okay, this is how you turn on the machine.” But the machine is different from what the packet says. So, you don’t turn it on right and you waste a few weeks for it not being on. Then you call and it has this long process of getting somebody to talk to you to help you turn on the machine correctly. A lot of effort is made into getting somebody to sign a contract but not a lot of effort is made after that to get customers up and running efficiently. Nonetheless, the first rep I dealt with was great. But after him, there was nobody.

For a while, I regretted the decision to get it. I wish I just stayed with regular electricity. With that, I know my electric bill is gonna be high because I have a large house. I factor it in my budget every month so I know what the bill is gonna be. But if I get an opportunity to go solar and save money, that’s attractive but there has to be some type of guidance on how that looks, how it works, how to turn the machine on, how my first couple of bills work, beyond signing a contract. Currently, I haven’t seen anything with the customer support after signing the contract and savings. I was told that during the summer months, my bill would remain the same because my AC is on. I use electricity high in the summer and low in the winter. I talked to other people who don’t necessarily have Vivint but who has solar and they said they see savings more in the fall than in the winter. So, I just chalked it up to maybe it’s just not the time yet.

He added that we could always add on more panels when our kids got older because then that's when the use of electricity in our household would increase. I was assured that this wouldn't be a problem as long as my electric bill justified it. I assumed a Vivint PPA at the house I bought in NJ last year (huge regret). My roof needs to be replaced prematurely due to an unrelated leak. They want $4915 to remove and reinstall the PV system; this is about 10x the price advertised on their YouTube channel (**), apparently because their system hasn't been on my roof long enough. Their cost is also more than 50% of what the entire roof will cost to replace - all to continue saving $30 a month on my electric bill. Vivint is greedy, and will install a PV system that will outlast the roof under it. When it comes time to replace the roof, you need their permission and must pay them to do the removal - check this language from the Customer Agreement:

"(ii) Property Repairs. - You are not permitted to make repairs or improvements to Your Property that may interfere with the performance or operation of the System without Our prior consent pursuant to this Section 5(e). If You provide Us with at least thirty (30) days’ prior written notice, then We will temporarily remove and reinstall the System at Your request to allow for such repair or improvement (a “Customer- Requested Temporary Shutdown”). You will be required to (1) before We remove the System, pay to Us a fee equal to Our estimated labor, equipment, and overhead costs to remove and reinstall the System; (2) if We request, securely store the System components during the Customer-Requested Temporary Shutdown; and (3) pay the Shutdown Payment if the System is not reinstalled within thirty(30) days of removal."

Essentially, Vivint doesn't care if water is leaking into your house as long as their panels are making them money. My roof is the original from 1971 with a second layer from 2000. I was informed by a roofer that the second layer was improperly laid. Why would Vivint install a 45 panel system on an aging/defective roof? Because if there are any problems with the roof, they get to make even more money off the customer for removal/reinstall. Avoid a PPA or lease. The only good way to do solar is cash or financing. These contracts are garbage.

Unfortunately, I had some health issues at that time and I couldn't follow up. Then there were two gentlemen that came by. They were also from Vivint Solar. My health that time had drastically improved so I was able to take advantage of it this time

During the enrollment, I just answered questions. They took care of the paperwork and I signed on the dotted line. It was no big deal. The people that came out to inspect everything were very quick, professional, and efficient. That took just a few hours over the course of the day. The installation was done in a day and you wouldn't even know the installers were here. They were mostly on the roof. They let me know what they were doing and they just pulled up and the truck up. Then there were people crawling all over the place putting in the panels and taking care of business. So I really didn't have to interact with them very much at all. They just did their thing and went on their way.

There were no headaches for me during the enrollment, inspection, and installation. And I'm thrilled with the amount of money that I'm saving. My electric bills, especially during the heat wave, probably would have been 2.5 times what they are now. I tell everybody about Vivint Solar, how easy the process was, how it required very little interaction for me, and it was a pretty painless process all around.

More than 3 weeks later, no call so I now need to call them again. When they installed the second set of panels, they were not supposed to turn off the first set but they did. Now I've been more than 3 months without production during the sunniest part of the year.

I was told that was an error and that I can file for compensation. The rep told me that she cannot guarantee I will be approved for compensation! She also said my system is now online and producing according to the website, I have produced nothing. Like I said above, they have horrible processes, organizational skills and customer service. While the reps I've dealt with have all been polite, they seem to not be very knowledgeable or able to access important information and they don't seem empowered to solve any problems. There have got to be many other better organized and run solar companies out there. Go with one of those.

Our panels were installed in February 2018 and weren't turned on until August 2018. I still have no idea if Xcel is getting our solar power. We were told they would be active in 4-6 weeks (not 6 months). Communication with Vivint has been poor from start to finish, we were told there was a 'special deal' with Xcel when we were pitched initially, which was just financing, but a way to get us to open our door.

We had a grace period before we started making payments on the non-operational panels but spent 4 months paying for panels that weren't even turned on. When I asked multiple times for money back I was told they would look into it and while they did reimburse me for three months of payments, our system is still not functioning fully and we are paying double for our energy we are still buying and for the panels that I am not sure are fully connected to the grid. I regret not researching this company before agreeing to their 'services'. I do not recommend them.

Enrolling for Vivint Solar and setting up the system was painless and straightforward. There was a lot of steps with permits in the power company, but that was on our part. We had issues shortly after the installation of the system but Vivint Solar was able to get to the bottom of the issue and they were able to respond and correct it, though it took a little bit of doing to fix. Their customer service has answered our questions but oftentimes, they take a long time to respond. But that's because there's a lot of people installing solar right now. I’ve been thinking about getting solar services, but I hadn’t really done anymore than that. At the time, I had one set of panels put on but I still had a large true watt amount due after the end of the year. Then a gentleman came by and he asked me how much that was. He was from Vivint and after I answered his question, he said that if we put more panels on, it should reduce the amount way down to much more reasonable amount. So, I ended up getting their service and so far, I'm pretty satisfied with my decision. Everybody was really helpful, polite, and answered all my questions. They’ve been pleasant, offered information, and a lot of times, before I even could ask a question, they were answering. I was very happy with that part of of the process.

When they came to put on the solar panels and they had to make a little hole in my garage wall that came all way through from the outside to the inside, they came back and cleaned up every bit of particles or anything on the inside of the garage and the outside. I was really impressed with that. They did a really good job making it look good. In fact, one of the guys even took some pieces of wood and made a little frame around it, so there weren’t holes at all. After they put the panels on, but I wasn’t able to turn them on until July because that was when it became available. And because it is such a hot summer, I can’t really tell a big difference yet in my bill. But after the cool weather sets in, hopefully, my true watt charges would go way down.

However, Vivint was quick in installing the panels, the system, and the control box and it looks good. A girl called and walked me through ensuring that the system was on. I turned on all of the solar control panels, and the system was supposedly turned on on August 8th, but it wasn't on. She didn't mention my fuse box, and I didn't think of it.

I emailed Vivint Solar a couple of days ago and the girl called answering my email. She told me to check the fuse box and I found out that the technician forgot to put on the solar switch. I turned it on, and the system is working now. The power light indicator on the two solar boxes is on and blinking. I checked my account online, and the system is producing. Everybody has been very helpful and there was no cost upfront for the system. I only pay for the electricity that the system produces, which is really good.

A representative of Vivint knocked on my door and I was very impressed by his demeanor, what he told me about the company and what was being done. Enrolling with them was easy and the system just got turned on last week, but it took almost three months from the start to getting it going. It concerns me that it may be just this particular location and the city involved, but there was a lot of back and forth, people coming and going as well as changing this and doing that. Nevertheless, I've been impressed by Vivint's customer service and the people I've dealt with every time I've made a phone call.

The enrollment with Vivint Solar was not bad at all but it took a while to get everything done. We needed a new box because the one we have wasn’t strong enough and all that was done with no expense to us or anything. I decided to go with them because I could get a less expensive gas and electric bill. My first bill was 80 some dollars but last month, it was $139. That was like paying the regular gas and electric bill, so I was quite surprised. I thought the price would not be quite as expensive as I find the monthly bills to be. I was told that I would be paying 16 cents per kilowatt-hour but I didn’t understand if it's kilowatt-hour of production or kilowatt-hour of use. Other than that, no problems have come up that haven’t been addressed and any time I talk to anyone has always been pleasant. Everybody has been pretty nice and the service is good.

We first signed in December and we just got started last month. Vivint Solar told me that it was because of the utility company and their paperwork side of it and them coming to switch out the meter. But Vivint Solar's reps have been very good. They've been very informative and polite.

In the last three months, they withdraw my regular bill and then another withdraw the same day for a bigger amount. I contacted by phone customer services, and told me that I didn't have any records of double payments, and asked me to contact the billing department via email with proof from my bank account of the double withdraw. I did what they asked me, and after two weeks, I received an email asking me again for the proof that they withdraw twice my account for the last three months. I called again for the third time to the billing department, and a guy called Jason (not last name, he didn't want to give me one) was rude and didn't gave any solution. Just keep waiting, and when I asked him to speak with a supervisor he put me to his own voicemail. So frustrated with the service.

Well first I'd like to say. The only reason I went with Vivint Solar. Was cause I already had their alarm system. Also sales rep lied to me. Even after giving him a beer and my time. He said I would be credited on power I don't use. So full of crap. Took months before they actually came and set solar system up. They butchered my roof. I had to go up on roof myself. Caulk and tar a few spots after install. Or would of had some leaks. There was pieces of my tongue and groove board. All over my muscle cars in garage. Luckily they had covers on them. Complete hacks! Only thing that they did nice. Was the wiring of panels.

Now I just recently called them to change billing date. Cause they do a automatic withdraw on 20th of every month. I wanted it changed to later date. Since mortgage is due around same time. Just more convenient. No help with this whatsoever. Only billing agency I know that won't help. Tried talking to managers. But they must be on call. Cause I can never get through to them. This whole experience has gotten to be the worst I have ever dealt with. It's sad to cause alarm and solar works great. It keep them forever. But the way they handle things is rude and unprofessional. Customer does not come first with Vivint. Can't wait till contract is over. Getting rid of both for sure. Stay away people.

Anyone considering solar for their homes I do not recommend Vivint Solar. I have had them now for a number of years and have had no problems at all, they have you sign a contract that states you must keep the panels on your roof for a set period of time and if you need them removed there is fee. See it all start when my roof was damaged early this year along with a lot of my neighbors. I turn in the damage to my insurance company they came out, appraised the damage, then I got roofers out to quote the price for replacing it.

Everything was set except for Vivint to come out and remove the panels so my roof could get replaced, it took over a month to get the panels removed and a lot of excuses. The roof was replaced in two days following the removal. I then call them the day they replaced the roof to schedule a time to come out and reinstall the panels it took a month and a half to get them out and then they didn't even get the work done. It took another 6 days before they would come back, I then had to wait another 2 days for the electrician to get out to rewire the panels. Now it's been almost 3 months and the panels are not working. Now I've been told another week or so before tech could be out to check the system. I call **. They want your business but don't want to service you when needed. So be careful in dealing with them.

I have Vivint Home Security. I went online, did a request about solar and Vivint Solar was the first one to contact me. My experience has been a bumpy ride up to now. There has really been poor communication, with emails, names and price missing. I’ve got a lot of questions about the billing now that my bill is coming ‘cause when the guy came out, he told me one price.

When I called, I told them that I got the app downloaded and I asked when my first bill would come out. They said I would not know what my first bill for a while, it would be from this date to this date, then they would send me a bill that I would pay. However, during the sales interview done initially, the guy said what our flat price would be for a month, or at least the first year until the price of per kilowatt went up. Then, they came in, installed the system, but they didn’t really give much information on how to turn it on. The solar has got to be connected to the internet. They put a router in our house and never connected the router. So, the solar was never getting read by Vivint at their headquarters.

Then, my app wasn’t working for about five days, and I had to call them and ask if I turned it on and if there was something wrong. When the guy tried to do some troubleshooting with me, I was told to make sure that the buttons were turned on. I didn't have the button that he was talking about but it was on. He said that we would need to look at the internet and he realized it was not connected. I’m still getting a bill from Nevada Energy, and I’m waiting on my first bill from Vivint Solar which will be relatively interesting.

I also called customer support telling them that the app wasn’t working. I also asked the guy what my stuff needs to read daily for us to meet the requirements to make switching to solar worthwhile. He said that he doesn't know yet. What kind of customer support is that? In addition, they turned off power off at our house which reset our air conditioners, so our air conditioner didn’t come on. Our house was hot for five hours and there was a clown sitting inside the truck while everybody else was working. When they turned off our power, they didn’t explain much of anything other than them saying they were putting their system on. If I’m a business and I wanna be a successful ran business, I would follow up with customers that were unhappy. I haven’t heard from anybody yet. No one has called to follow up to see how things are going.

There appears to be no serious effort to fix the website/mobile app, merely platitudes about how seriously Vivint is taking my complaint. Was given 3 options: 1) "convince buyer to keep panels". 2) "have panels moved to new home" (can't due to it being a condo!). 3) "find someone else who will agree to have panels put on their home"! Was told they cannot move panels to one of their new customers home because panels were specifically made for my home! UH! So how can the panels on my current home be moved to someone else's home?!?

Finding totally UNACCEPTABLE, I asked to speak to a manager. At first, Austin said managers are too busy. Gave me the same spiel again. Insisting on speaking to a manager, finally spoke to Trent, who gave me the same 3 ridiculous options. Vivint needs to provide me with a more reasonable option to have their panels REMOVED. BTW: they informed me that THEY would NOT be removing the panels for option 2 or 3. Are they 'serious'? Do they expect that I magically FIND someone to unhook, remove and dispose or reuse these panels that are Vivint's???

At time of Vivint sales pitch, Dan ** (Vivint sales rep) told me that there would be no problem if potential future buyer did not want to keep solar panels. Was told it would cost $800 for removal. Also, have recently found out that Vivint put a lien on my home, which they never notified me of at time of 'sales pitch'. Based on many of the other low ratings I see, a common issue seems to be the panel temporary removal cost. Like some others, we were told by the sales rep that panel removal for roof repairs would be FREE OF CHARGE, because the integrity of the roof is an important foundation for the solar panels. Unlike many others here, our quoted removal fee was not $500, it was $4,120. FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. We brought up the roof issue early on because we knew we would be replacing the roof within 5 years. Vivint did an inspection of our roof, they knew the condition. I had not been up there, but I knew replacement was coming in the near future.

I don't know if Vivint targets poor quality roofs in order to make a little extra cash from the removal process (they probably don't get much from $500, but $4000?), but seeing as this is a common issue shortly after installation, that may be the case. Yes, it will likely happen over a 20-year contract unless the roof was brand new, but most of these complaints seem to be fairly soon into their solar panel contract. And having sales reps tell people free removal and then charging $4,120? Looking into the cost to break the contract. Of course, that isn't explicitly in the contract documentation either.

And to the Vivint rep who responds to all of these to contact customer service - that was obviously the first thing I did. No one seems to know what is going on and they just say I will hear back when they figure it out. Considering we gave well over the 30 days notice before our roof project and already had to push back the replacement due to lack of response from Vivint, customer service has been less than helpful thus far. Is online-reviews@vivintsolar.com really any more responsive than calling customer service or emailing with help@vivintsolar.com (issue was forwarded "to the department who is responsible for this situation")?

My neighbors have Vivint Solar panels installed in their houses. Since I was trying to save money, I decided to look into solar energy services as well. While I'm happy with my decision to go solar, the whole trip with Vivint has been about medium satisfaction. I had it done in two sections. They installed the panels first and later on, they decided that we could add more panels. The first was good. However, in the second one where they added 11 panels, it took them 8 months for a simple job. It was really discouraging. They came out and replaced breakers and then a week later, they called and said they had to replace them again.

When I reached out to them and asked what was going on, they told tell me that they didn't know. So, I told them that it was their people who are doing the job. It seems like they sent incompetent electricians out to do the work. While the installation on the roof went fine, it was the hooking up and getting it going that was the problem. They also said it was the electric company, PG&E, but it's not. The project was managed with great incompetence and it seems like Vivint doesn’t know what one end is doing with the other one. So, I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble getting there but it's a good deal in the end. Other people might consider having somebody install the panels and buy them. Overall, I'm glad I did it.

This is why we need your utility bill, so the system can be designed close to what your usage is. For the system check, we will look into this and do our best to resolve this problem soon. Please send an email with your address to online-reviews@vivintsolar.com Thank you for your patience.

We had considered purchasing solar prior to Vivint. I had talked to a solar critic and got a lot of information on it. We are somewhat happy with Vivint, however, we've had some issues with them. They didn't put enough solar panels in our house and our utility bill wasn't going down a pretty small amount that we were told that it would do. Also, the process of getting the solar service approved was just slow. Before they could get it to start working, it took an appreciable amount of time. But the customer service wasn't bad and finally, we got them to come back and they added some more solar panels. They made an effort to it and tried to correct it. I would tell others that Vivint Solar is a good deal.

Vivint Solar went around our neighborhood and they left something on my door. I had been thinking about solar, so I thought I would give them a call and look into it. I made an appointment for somebody to come by and explain to me the whole system. The guy did that and it seemed like the whole process made sense and I decided to give it a try. Vivint Solar has been very polite and very professional. Everything has been really good with their customer service and so far, I'm happy with it. They have been very responsive and if I had any problem, it's easy to find a number to call and I would get a good response. However, I'm still getting billed from Nevada Power. I thought I would be paying less to them. But then my system has only started to run mid-June and I understand that these are the hottest months, so it's a lot. I had to leave the air conditioning on a little bit since it's too hot. I'd recommend Vivint Solar.

A salesman initially came to the door and asked if they could rent my roof. I said, “Whoa, what are you gonna do?” They told me about Vivint Solar and I told them that we would try it too. When I married Dorothy, we got it on her house too. We have been using the system for about five years now and we like it. In fact, I've already convinced several people in the area to get it as well. We personally have had an A-1 relationship with Vivint Solar's representatives. But Dorothy’s grandson has had trouble. After they put the system in, they left his roof leaking. They don't want to fix it totally. They want him to pay half and they would pay half but that doesn’t seem right. It has been a year already and it still has not been taken care of. Otherwise, we are happy with Vivint Solar. My bill is less than it used to be because it is less per kilowatt.

A rep of Vivint Solar, Juan came to the door and my husband talked to him. The rep said it wouldn't cost us anything to start going solar and everything else costs a fortune. The enrollment with Vivint was pretty easy. I called their customer service reps once. The installation was fast and the team did a pretty good job. Going solar is saving a lot but I'm confused because I have not seen any reduction in price. I'm paying Vivint instead of paying Edison. And it's hot as a heck out here, so with the air conditioner, I know I'm using more power.

I paid my previous electricity provider $13 because evidently, Vivint said anything over what I've been producing, I would pay. But other than that, Vivint is getting most of it. The reps said that I should be paying a lot less come winter but I don't know if that means I would still be paying a lot less to California Edison. I'm worried about how much I was paying Cal Edison as opposed to how much I'm paying Vivint. But anyway, next summer when I will have so much banked power, I will be paying less. It just wasn't explained to me when we came on board how Vivint's system operates. But if that works out, then that's fine. Go with Vivint if you don't have a lot of money.

Do your research before engaging with Vivint. We engaged with Vivint in December 2017 after one of their salespeople knocked on the door. The promise is that it will cut your electric bill by at least 25% and it's good for the environment and helps manage energy on the grid. All good things, right? The process to go live took almost 8 months, we were finally live in July 2018. Along the way, it became clear that they are a disjointed company and the focus is on signing people up vs. delivering a quality experience. They had to reinstall the panels after I was told by their internal inspector that "the crew that installed these panels sucks". So they came back and reinstalled and reconfigured 2 additional times. Then failed the inspection with the county. There would be weeks without any communication from anyone there.

Since we went live, our overall Electric costs have increased significantly. In fairness, it may take some time to see the savings, but we are skeptical based on our overall experiences with them. Also they use a 3rd party billing company which is terrible. There is no transparency into what you are being billed for, you just have to trust them, as payment can only set up for autopay from credit card or bank account. Your monthly amount shows up a couple of days before it is due, making budgeting difficult. Also the link to the terms and conditions for autopay is broken. I asked customer service to forward it to me and he said "this is basically what it says..." I asked that I get a copy and he told me to pull my contract as the terms are in there. The general attitudes there are that they don't really care about their customers. I would not sign up with Vivint. This company is shady.

My parents got solar through Vivint and we live only 15 minutes away, so we had the same sales rep. We'd been considering getting a solar energy service for a few years and it was just a matter of timing. The house that we live in was my grandmother's, and we were doing a rent-to-own so we couldn't do anything until we actually bought the house. The installation took less than a day. The guys came at about 8:00 AM, and they were gone before 1:00 o'clock. They were quick and they didn't leave a mess. They cleaned everything up well and were very professional.

In addition, our sales rep was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She came over three times. The first time she came over was to explain everything. The next time she came was after they did the light readings for our roof, and then to explain what we would be getting. And then, she came by after the panels were installed to see how the installation went and how we felt. She made sure that we are satisfied. While the customer service has been great, the only thing was that about a month after we turned our solar panel on, they called to say that we could do it. So they got the memo after we did it.

So far, I'm satisfied with my decision to go solar. Our BGE bill has gone down considerably. We are on a payment program and it's like flexible billing so it keeps our bill the same over a few months. Although we're still paying that down from last winter, it's paying down a lot faster now 'cause they change the bill quarterly, depending on our usage. Once we have last winter's stuff completely paid off, we won't be getting much in the way of a bill from them. Vivint was great to work with, and the panels look great. We've recommended them to quite a few people already.

Vivint came out to our house a few years ago and installed solar panels. Everything seemed to go fine. Last year we had an issue with the panels not working. They told us that they would monitor them and contact us if that ever happened. We found out and had to tell them. We had to wait two months for a repair appointment. When they came, the switch on the system was found to be in the "off" position. Nobody in our house touched the switch - we didn't even know there was one! We were originally hesitant about having the panels installed due to the known age of our roof. We knew it would need to be replaced in a few years.

We were told by the rep that they would write us a $500 check to cover the cost of the removal and replacement of the panels when we were ready to do the roof. I contacted them yesterday to schedule the removal and was told it would cost $2600! When I told them of what the agreement was, I was told that I needed to send them a copy of their check and proof in writing of this agreement because my rep no longer worked there. I have a feeling I'll be calling the Attorney General's office in the near future!

We decided to have solar energy services to save money on electric and we're satisfied with our decision. We went with Vivint but it was too long of a period to get signed up. The township got everything set up, and Vivint was the only one holding everything up. Once we were approved by the township, it shouldn't take that long for us to be up and running. But their customer service team was good. We got a new air conditioner and one of the wires was wrong. Vivint sent somebody right away and fixed that problem. The only complaint I have is that if I'm up and running and then I sign someone up with them, I should get $250. I signed a friend up but when I called the people at Vivint, no one ever got back to me. Other than that, the overall experience was good.

In the next six years, I’m looking at retirement and I wanna fix up my house with equipment. I also wanted to knock my electric bill down. The last couple of months I'd been very positive about Vivint Solar. But yesterday, I looked at my bill and I was a little disappointed. My BG&E bill was down $50 and for the last couple of months, that’s what I’ve been getting. Everything in my house is electric and I don’t have any gas in there. My electric bill used to be $322 to $335. I called Vivint to check my bill and I asked the lady on the line to read me my bill. She told me my bill was $216. When I added the $49 to that, it ran to $266 total. My total came down by $60, but the salesman told me they were gonna cut my bill in half.

I wanna give it a little more time and see what the bill is gonna be this summer. I’m still optimistic about it. Also, there are so many things that are involved with the paperless thing. Sometimes you wanna go on the website, but you have trouble with all these glitches and you cannot easily log on. I’m old school and I wanna see my bill. Vivint should think about us before they start making things paperless.

Vivint Solar went to my husband’s friend's house and then my husband learned about them from his friend. We were thinking about solar energy services at the time and we liked what Vivint Solar offered. When we enrolled, we gave them our name, birth date, age, and copy of our electric bill. They checked with the town and also checked how old is our roof and if it is qualified. They took it from there and it was very easy. The staff has been very good too. They answered the phone and I didn’t get a recording. Sometimes, I get a runaround if someone doesn’t know anything and they’ll connect me to somebody else who does, but that’s normal with any company. We’re completely satisfied so far. So, look into Vivint Solar and go for it.

A guy from Vivint Solar came to the door and we were told that we were gonna save money through them, so we enrolled. All went well during the enrollment with Vivint Solar. We were kept informed, people were calling, and I was getting emails asking how we were doing. Everything was wonderful and I felt like I was being treated very well. Then all of a sudden, after the equipment was installed, it was like we dropped off the face of the earth. I called the customer service regarding the problem we were having and the young lady who I spoke to was very nice but she couldn’t help me.

Then, we had some problem with the equipment and it took two and a half weeks for somebody to come out here. The service technicians came out the day before yesterday and they were nice guys. But they took a look at the equipment and said, “Well, it must be this.” They didn’t check anything and didn’t put any meters. And now, I'm told that it was gonna be a week to get the parts and it could be another two and a half weeks after that to get a service technician out here to make the repair.

Fo far, the equipment has only been on for about two months and the overall experience with Vivint Solar has been about half and half. On the first month, everything was going well and the first bill was only for half a month. But on the second bill that we got, the usage is somehow excessive. It went up from four years worth of data from PG&E and up to 125 kilowatt hours per month difference. Up until three weeks ago, I was very happy with Vivint Solar. But now, I'm not so happy and I'm very disappointed with their whole service.
