I hate to have to join the chorus of frustrated customers, but I have to start saying something. Very compelling sales force. I did my due diligence on the value of the proposition, and signed my agreement in August 2014 with promises of rapid (@ 8-weeks) installation and going operational - it's April 2015 now and last I was told was it will be a few more months, and that's only after I have complained over and over about my service. Worst is the absolute absence of communication from supervisors and managers. I don't even want to talk to any customer advocate, the front line folks, as they have no power to do anything, and, while most of them are pleasant, they contradict each other frequently, leading me to the conclusion that the operational controls at Vivint are non-existent. I wish I could cancel my contract, but, alas, I'm sure I'm stuck. My advice is to look elsewhere for solar services.

Back in July early August I signed with Vivint for solar panels to be installed. It has been 10 months and I have been lied to several times stating the town hasn't approved the plan. That was a lie. I went to the town the approved the plan 30 days prior, then I was told PSEG didn't approve credit application and that it has been over 90 days. They had to apply again. Gave clearance for that only to find out paperwork was submitted incorrectly the first time. I called my salesperson ** and asked the status. November, December, January February and on March 24th was told the installation would be April 7th 8am in the morning.

Guess what? This is being sent on April 7th 10am. No call, no show, and my salesperson has not returned any of my calls from last week through this morning. I have been patient and understanding until today since I took a day off from work today hoping the panel install would happen but as I stated but no show. I believe this company is in over its head because if this is happening to me I am sure others have the same issues. Furthermore if they can't install the panels timely what makes me think they can do anything else? I will probably break contract and begin to find a reputable company. The consequences are only lost some time, frustration, but overall I won't have to be in bed with these people for 20 years and that is a good thing that came out of this.

VIVINT SOLAR - Don't do it! You won't save as much as the sales person will lead you to believe. Don't do it! I had Vivint Solar installed about a year and a half ago. The bill went down about $35 -$40 for about 6 months. Great! I even had one month when I got a refund check from Edison - the electric company. Then it started to go up. Most months I'm paying more than pre-solar. My bill is actually higher! If I'm saving anything throughout the year - it's not much. I would not suggest Vivint Solar under any circumstance. Don't do it!

One year ago I decided to put in Vivint Solar. I was so excited I got my 3 neighbors to do it as well. Before we even got the solar my neighbor and I had comparable bills. If I pay this Edison bill I will be paying more than I did before I had solar. We were never told about the year end bill from Edison which shocked us but when mine came and was 4 times the amount of my neighbors' I was floored. I contacted Edison and they came and checked the meter and all was fine. When I contacted Vivint they did nothing but give me excuses. I found out my panels went down for 2 months (I was still billed) and that I was not getting full capacity of of my units.

When I explained that my neighbors' houses were the same model and bigger than my house and that all 3 of their bills were considerably lower, they informed me to put more panel on. I said I have the max and I have the same mount as my neighbors. I told them I wanted a technician to come and check the unit. They have given me the run around and I still have not received a call. I am so frustrated that I told them they could take off the panels if this is the way they are going to treat people.

Signed a contract with Vivint to have solar panels installed on roof. They came on Nov 2014 to install the panels. Instead of using nippers to cut the shingles, they used a claw hammer to rip the shingles where the brackets need to go. Used a drill and drilled 30 holes and still could not find a stud to install the brackets. Used caulk to fill the holes. They carted off a bushel of broken shingles. But get this, when I wanted to go up on my own roof to look over their installation, I was told I couldn't!! My roof but I couldn't come up and check out what all the noise was. Now we know why they didn't want me to see the condition of my roof!! They tore it all up.

Then their electricians "accidentally" took a heavy duty electric extension cord from us when they came out to do the hook up. The salesman gave us a 25.00 gift card, can't fault the guy but that cord would cost 3 to 4 times that amount to replace.... Failed the county inspection because of lack of stickers and pictures.... Really!! Took over 3 weeks to reschedule the county to reinspect. Then 3 more weeks for BG&E to change meter. Still waiting to be able to flip the switch and finally find out if we will save anything. Nov 2014 to present and still no solar. This company has too many excuses when you call. We understand that life events happen but no one person in a company should shoulder all of the work, and when a life event does happen, the company needs to have a backup plan in place.

Our advice to anyone looking to use Vivint is DON'T!!! Try Solar City, but make sure you read and have a lot of questions answered before you sign. Will update here when solar is turned on.

When the salesman came to my house he was great at promoting the solar panels. One of the questions I had since we get a lot of snow was, "Won't the snow cover the panels and I won't save during the winter?" The salesman promised me that the panels remain so hot that the snow will NOT stick to the panels. Of course that was a huge LIE!! The panels have about a foot of snow on them and the panels have not produced any power. When I called customer support they said if it's not in the contract nothing they can do. I will now be on a mission to make sure no one else signs up for Vivint Solar.

In May of 2014 we signed a contract for solar panels to be installed on our home to help offset the cost of our high energy bill. Our average monthly energy bill with the care discount and a medical baseline discount averaged well over 300 dollars a month and in the summer has been close to 700. Wanting help and some relief we listened to Solar sales person on what we could save, we thought it was a great idea. We have seen other homes and the panels looked okay.

Well we had 79 panels installed on our home. The system is not to this day up and fully working properly. Vivint takes out monthly charges yet I have not had a 30 day period to rate for charges. Energy company says more than half panels not working. Have called on situation every week trying to get system corrected. Poor customer service. And charges from energy provider and Vivint are more or the same as prior to panels. Misrepresentation of entire program. It's now February 2015.

Failed to have the necessary materials for the county building and electrical inspectors when they came out for the inspections - delayed progress 1 week. System Drawings are still defective. Don't follow up on installation progress. Sometimes resulting in months of delay. Didn't install correctly - I had to call to get the errors corrected before the inspector came out. Several days after they told me to turn the system on, I found it was still not working. I had to wait 1 week for them to send someone out to discover that they had turned the inverters off from corporate in Utah and it took another day to get them to turn it on.

The web site requires you to check it 2 times a day to get all the data and there is no historical record so if you miss it, it's gone. The web site is down more than it is up - 3 of 4 weeks in January. Now the web site is telling me that they are waiting for the letter from the electric co for permission to operate so I can turn it on - after it has been operating for more than 3 months.

Signed up for Solar in March 2014. They got right on to putting the solar panels up and by June we were ready for the final inspection. Had final inspection and I am STILL waiting for Vivint and SoCal Edison to allow me to use all this solar that has been sitting uselessly on my roof. In the meantime, Edison says Vivint installed too many panels on my roof. Vivint has done NOTHING to solve this problem. I call them about once a month to complain and I am ignored. I couldn't even use it during the hot summer months. I am beyond disgusted with this company.

It was horrible. It went on for about two or three months of the actual installation and then finally turning it on. I know they had trouble with the city of Simi Valley in getting approved, but that's not my problem. They weren't honest with me about what my electricity was going to be. I feel like I've been screwed. And I asked them to come back and do some painting. I felt that they did not complete the job as professionally as I thought it should be done - like painting under the eaves.

The company had sales reps. in my area in April to promote their Solar Energy. I thought the gentleman did an excellent job explaining all the details. I was very interested and excited about the possible installation of solar panels at my residence. Appointments were set up and inspections of my home were completed. Then I waited, and I waited, and I waited. I never heard back from anyone. July came and I contacted the company thru their website. I received a phone call from another representative of their company and they said that they would follow thru with my sales representative and get back to me. So I waited, and I waited, and I waited. NOTHING.

Finally I called 1 week ago (Aug) and all the young lady said was that it wouldn't be beneficial to my home... So what does THAT mean? Since I have seen several homes in my community with the Solar Panels. All of different sizes. The sun is so hot on my home in the a.m. until 2 pm that my door will physically burn you if you touch to come in. So why isn't it beneficial. Still that was all the young lady could tell me. I am so upset about not being able to get these that I'm going to look into another company (Solar City) to see if they can at least provided me with better service. Good riddance Vivint!!!!

I spoke to a Vivint Solar rep who came to my door. I was somewhat interested until I was notified that someone ran my credit. I went ballistic. I called the rep and was told that they had every right to do so. I never gave them any personal info to do so. I've filed complaints with BBB and whomever else I can to let people know what these folks are about.
