I was paying so much for my electricity so I got Vivint Solar after a friend recommended it to me. So far I'm very satisfied. Vivint did a really good job and got right back with me if I had any questions. I'm very happy with them.

The Southern California Edison is gonna raise their prices soon so I was preparing myself and looked into solar energy services. In fact, already got prices from Tesla. When my neighbor was getting the system from Vivint Solar, one of their salespeople came by my house. So far, Vivint has kept most of the promises that the salesman made. There are still a couple that I'm waiting on. He said that my electrical panel will be upgraded and that hasn't happened yet. Also, there was a referral, where I referred Vivint Solar to a co-worker and he's already gotten and done the inspection. They've gotten as far as installing the unit at his place. The sales guy said I would get a commission. So, I'm waiting for that as well. Other than that, my experience with Vivint Solar has been good. I was waiting on the first full bill and I got it. Vivint Solar has lessened my SCE bill, so I liked that.
Hi Daniel. We are happy to hear that you had a positive experience with the sales representative. If you have further questions regarding the referral bonus or the electrical upgrade, feel free to call us. Thank you.

I got into solar energy services to save money and the enrollment at Vivint Solar was very easy. It took them too long when I called them asking for something. But I asked them to explain it in Spanish, and maybe that's why they took too long.

The way the salesman explained everything and enlightened us with the current laws on the books and how we were gonna be able to save a significant amount of money made the decision for us in getting Vivint solar energy services. Then setting it up was very easy. The reps were very easygoing and pleasant. They explained everything and answered questions that we had. The experience from start to finish has been very pleasant and we're satisfied.

The Vivint Solar sales representative came to the door a year before when only my wife was home. He came back for another year and then he started talking to me and named neighbors that knew me or friends that I had that were getting solar. He was prepared and our interaction went well. The environment and the rate were the biggest things that made me decide to get solar services, and I've had it running for about a month now. I was even talking to someone I work with about the possibility of them getting Vivint Solar.
The only thing I don't understand now is how to look at the new panel and see if anything is even doing anything. Somewhere in the process, I was shown how many panels out of how many are working. But when I go out there, there is nothing on the screen at all. I am thinking if I really got something started when I lifted the lever or if I was still status quo. I would like to see how the thing works again and have someone go over that as well. I played phone tag with my salesman a couple of times, but it is not worrying me to the point that I wanna go out.
Hi Gary, Thank you for your review and we're glad that the sales representative did a great job. You are able to see the production of the panels through the Account Center. When your system was given permission to operate you should have received an email with the link to the Account Center so you could register the account. If you do not have the information feel free to call us to receive assistance with the Account Center. Thank you for your business.

We kept hearing we needed to go solar and we were looking into it but we did not have the money to make monthly payments to buy it. Then our next-door neighbor got Vivint. She gave our name to Josh then he came by and talked to us. There was gonna be no-money upfront and it sounded like a good deal. We were hoping to have cheaper rates in switching to solar energy and we got back in touch with Vivint. Josh also treated us with respect. He did not look down on us or talk to us like we were dumb, old people who didn't know anything. He was positive, friendly and outgoing. He was also always right there to help us as much as he could. We were able to make calls and ask him questions. We are happy with our decision to go solar and I've been recommending Vivint Solar to friends.

Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy. The reps kept up with me. They texted me and emailed me when there was any information I needed. If I have any questions, I can contact them any time. Everything’s been moving right along and been running like clockwork. We haven’t gotten our first bill from Vivint, but I got a closing bill from my electric company and then a new bill for the access to it, which is a whole lot less than what we were paying before. Overall, the people from Vivint Solar were really personable. There was always somebody who tells me what they were gonna do, what was going on, make sure I was aware of everything and make sure that everything was taken care of. They were very efficient and very knowledgeable.
Hi Shelly, We're glad that the team has been great and has been diligent in working on your system. Thank you for going solar with us!

Last summer sales rep. Conor ** visited and signed us up with Vivint Solar. By October, installation of the panels was completed and the work crew were superlative, doing the work in one day - as promised. Then came the wait to go live. We were told December. By January we were still waiting and we began to get some vague assurances about going live, with delays due to variously named "net meters," "reverse meters," "smart sockets," and so on. Eversource Rep "Paul" stepped in and started a better ball rolling. Vivint gave us several end dates including January, February 1, February 15 and February 20 (I think it was).
Finally, after many emails and phone calls to Vivint and Eversource, our electrical supplier, we finally went live on Feb. 27. I placed a call to Conor ** on the 27th requesting information about how to read the meters, what I should know, who do I call if something doesn't work, etc. I'm not an engineer. Still waiting for Conor to return my call 2 days later (he wasn't prompt about answering emails either). Thus, I have to thank Eversource and only Jason at Vivint for finally making this happen. But what's up with Conor and Vivint in general in terms of "timely" customer service? Disappointed that it's taken over 4 months since installation to go live. I've seriously considered a lawsuit, but have backed off now that we are "supposedly" up and running. Not as good an experience as it should have been.
Hello Jon. We are sorry to hear about your experience. We understand the frustration with the length of time to have the system turned on but are happy to hear that Jason was able to assist with getting this done. We were so excited when we started looking into solar. Vivint seemed like such a great company. They were family based out of Utah and seems to have great standards. The first year was great. Our normal PGE bill was around $200-$250 in the winter. We were paying Vivint around $70 and PGE pennies. Our First True-Up was around $300. Not too bad. Second year we started paying PGE around $30-$50 a month and Vivint around $120-$150 and our True-Up bill doubles to $600. Third year PGE is at $30-$90, Vivint is $125-$150 and our True-Up doubles again to $1300. Now we pay PGE $100-$180,Vivint $120-$175 and just got our True-Up of $1579!
We cannot afford this. WE are a working family where my husband and myself work in order to make the bills and we are sick to our stomachs tonight trying to see where this money for a $1759 bill to PGE is going to come from. Where is the savings? Why won't you help us. We have called, emailed and the only response we get from the guy who sold us into this mess is him trying to sell us another system. SO much for eating about family.
I am crying as I write this thinking I am going to have to spend more of my time away from my children to pay a bill I don't deserve. This is greed in its finest. I miss school drop off and pickups to work to pay PGE and Vivint. I would never ever recommend this to anyone. I feel sorry for the people who are signing up for this without knowing what the future will hold for you. The only way I see out is to move from the home we have built and made memories in for 8 years in order to be rid of this situation. Thank you Vivint for stealing my happiness and making me work twice as hard to Pay you and PGE instead of spending time with my family. You should be ashamed!

I wanted to help the economy and help everything else go along so I decided to look into solar energy services and went with Vivint Solar. The salesperson was very good. However, it took almost two months to get our solar panels up and running. Vivint couldn’t get the inspection done right away. The city inspector was going one way and Vivint was going another direction. That took some time and then they had to wait for someone to come in and approve everything. Nonetheless, the installation went very well. On the other hand, I get the bill but there’s nothing there. It's just the bill. I’d like to know how many kilowatts I was using. I'd have to look it up on the internet then.

I don’t understand why but when I enrolled with Vivint Solar, the experience was good and it was an easy process.

I’ve been considering getting solar energy services for a couple of years as we are trying to have a greener footprint. A solar salesman came by and he answered some of my questions that Google wasn’t able to answer for me, so I was able to get a bid and went from there. Vivint Solar's name and history, as well as the size of the company, were the factors that made me decide to go with them. The salesman was also a subcontractor, but I found out afterwards that they were owned by Vivint or Vivint bought them out. At that point, I signed the contract.
The enrollment process with Vivint Solar was very simple. They’ve kinda taken all the complexities out of it. Everything from the contractor explaining the contract to me understanding it was super simple, so it made it easier for me. I’ve walked away from contracts before that are too complicated or do not make sense. However, it took a while to get scheduled with Vivint Solar probably due to so many people in Utah going solar that you kinda have to wait. There is only a finite supply of installers, so it took a little longer than I would've liked. But when the installers showed up, they were great. They were very professional and clean, and everything went really smoothly.
When I received an email saying that we're good to go and we can power the system on, I reached out to customer service as they never sent me an email that said how to power it on. They then responded and sent me an email with the instructions. So, we were good to go at that point. So far, I love not getting an electric bill and that is one of the pluses. I don’t notice a difference in energy until I jump on the app. I like to look at the app about once a week to see what I am saving and it is neat to see that.
Hi Fermin, We love hearing that you're seeing the benefits of solar! Thank you for leaving your feedback.

In the beginning of last year, my house was visited by a gentleman and he told me about Vivint Solar. He said that a representative of solar energy company is authorized to do some credit check for me and then from there, install a solar panel on my house. But then my credit at that time was not good so we did not go ahead with the contract. August came along and we had a discussion that led to sending an engineer to install the solar panel on my house. On September 21st of last year, the engineer came here and installed the panel. So far, I’m very satisfied with my decision to go solar. The only thing for me is there's a panel that is connected to the new internet system I have and that gave me a problem, but I think it is a technical issue that can be resolved.

I enrolled with Vivint Solar and getting set up was excellent. The salesperson was excellent, answered all my questions, took me through the whole process. Then, after having some hiccups with snow, the solar panel got installed right away. The installers did a great job and everything was on time. But after everything has been set up, my experience hasn't been good. When the system was being proposed and the rep went over the Maryland Solar Grant and the federal tax credit, I was assured that Vivint would make certain that I had all the documents I needed for both of those. But for a month now, I've been trying to get the documents that I needed to complete the application. I had reached out to the rep who sold the system to me. I sent him all the copies of the emails but it's like pulling teeth.
The solar panels were professionally installed and that's why I hired Vivint. But the state wants to make sure that there is no fraud involved. Also, the efficiency of putting solar panels in Maryland is the fact that there are a solar grant and federal tax credit. That's 50% of the cost of the system and without that money, I wouldn't have done it. But at this point, I'm very frustrated and I'm hoping that the rep can resolve this. But if Vivint doesn't come through, it's not beyond me to go on social media and explain that they're great installing it but there is no follow-up.
Hello Marvin. We are happy to hear you had a positive experience during the pre-installation and installation part of the process. We apologize your experience from that point has not been a good one. Please feel free to send us an email with your address. Thank you.

I was looking into lowering my monthly rates so I looked into solar energy services. I was referred to Vivint Solar but since going solar, I am paying a higher bill. Though I have not got a hold of them, I assumed it was because it will be a general round-up for the summer months. I thought it was something they were deciding that the payments needed 12 months. Despite that, the actual crew that came out to install and the people that I've physically seen and talked to have been wonderful. They knew what they were doing and they were on top of everything. I appreciated it. The Vivint guy also sat there for hours waiting for the inspector to come out and sign out on it.
Also, everybody at the customer service was nice to me and nobody was rude. But, their staff did not know what they were doing. We started the process in the summertime and the install of the panels was within a week. Everything was great but the wrong plans of the solar were sent to the city and the city rejected it. They never told me that and I did not know who was at fault. A month went by and I called them about what was taking so long. I was told that they did not know what was going on. I called back again and they said that the wrong plans were given and it was not submitted. It had been a month so our solar didn’t get turned on until the end of December. Every time I called, nobody would answer me and I was always told that I would have a return phone call but I never received one. I hated that and I was not happy with their customer service. But I hate to ding them for something that they had no control over.

We are satisfied and happy with Vivint Solar and have recommended them to a friend. When we had a rep come by the house, he told us there would be no extra cost involved for us and our electric bill would go down from what it was. He also explained what they would do. The whole enrollment process was easy. We had to qualify first then somebody came and took all of the measurements. After that, it had to be approved and everything went fine. It went pretty quickly. Then, it was again a couple of weeks when we got the email that we were ready to turn it on. We did but it did not work right away so somebody came and everything has been okay now.
Everyone from Vivint was very courteous, very friendly and very helpful when we had any questions. Although, we are still waiting for the pipes which are like steel that are coming down from the roof. They said that wouldn’t be a problem and they would paint them so they would blend in better with the sandy color of the house. But it hasn’t happened yet. Right now, we are a two-person household so we have the smallest amount of panels and Vivint has been good so far.

But we couldn’t walk away because we were in our house, we were in our backyard. Nonetheless, they did the job fast and they did it good. It only took about three and a half hours to get the solar panels up and running. The guy on the ground that was working on the panel was very helpful. He answered our questions real good.
My wife thinks that our first bill did go down but we don’t know how to find out if indeed it went down. The statement from Southern California Edison doesn’t show that they went down for whatever reason. So, I don’t know if I’m getting any benefits out of it. Now, I wanna think that the system is on since I don’t know the system and I’m afraid to move something that I’m not supposed to. I look at the panel that Vivint put and there’s a little green light that says power. So, I guess it’s on. Also, we have a house in the foothills where we spend half our time. Over there, we have PG&E service but they’re going out of business and any time someone’s going out of business, the rates go up. So, it would be nice to have panels over there. Overall, we are satisfied with Vivint Solar.

I got on Craigslist and I was gonna buy a couple of solar panels for my pool. When I went there to pick them up, the guy was having Vivint Solar installed and he said he was very happy. He said that if I went with Vivint, he would give half of the $200 referral fee. The rep talked me through the whole thing and told me it would take months to get it up and running. I was shocked at how long it took, but they said half of that is the fault of Nevada Power, getting all the ducks in a row and paperwork so it was out of their control. But there was no out-of-pocket cost and it looks terrific. They gave me the maximum amount of panels for a single-family home ‘cause I have a big house. I communicated via phone and email and they always got back to me right away. As far as installation, it was a day and the techs were great. My settlement bill with PG&E is no less than 1800.00 additional per year. I have contacted Vivint and very helpful but the bottom line is the panels are producing 10% of what I need. Vivint says everything is working properly on their side, to contact PG&E but then they say Vivint doesn’t produce what they say. At least I have convinced 3 neighbors to go another route and they are very happy and I wish I would have known what I know now. Buyer beware. My solar doesn't work and when it hasnt worked the power bills are overwhelming and when you add the cost of the solar combined with the power bills it over 600 a month!! I have repeated over and over since July dealing with their billing and customer service dept. No help whatsoever. They give you false hope of being compensated and it never happens. They have led us on for over 6 months and now denied us.
We had Utah power come out and do seven different tests 3 different times after Vivint solar said it was on their side. Now we have proven over and over it's the solar equipment and to no avail will they take any responsibility in the issues it has. They have openly admitted the system had issues in months it should of been fully producing. July and Aug mainly. Now we have been faced over 600 extra dollars in power bills along with the 300 a month for the solar.
This place has no customer satisfaction. I have solar... I have the smart home system. And the security. Just like with the solar nothing works and no one cares to fix it. Do not do business with this company because when there is a problem they dont back the product they sell. It's all a bunch of smoke and mirrors. This is a multi billion dollar company and they have more complaints with the BBB THAN ANYONE!! If you have a a few hours you can read they have over 600 on solar alone!! What a joke!!

We had been interested in going solar. But, we had two issues. One was that the cost of installation was going to be about $25,000. We have no mortgage. So, we would have to fund it in some fashion like taking a second mortgage or a new mortgage. And we were unwilling to do that. Then the other thing was that some of the engineers from other companies that looked at what we would have to do to get enough sunlight with trees around on the roof said that they would have to cut down trees or top them. And, our feeling was it didn’t make sense to get rid of shade in favor of air conditioning.
Vivint Solar, on the other hand, offered us a program wherein we pay them starting at 15 cents a kilowatt. Therefore, we do not have to pay for installation. Also, they were able to devise an array that is not impacted by our trees. However, we were frustrated that when we had a second installation with Vivint to extend the amount of solar in our roof, it was weeks before we got permission to operate from PG&E. Other than that, I’ve always been satisfied with my interactions with Vivint Solar.

I liked the professionalism of Vivint Solar's marketer. He made a very good pitch and was very professional. I went with them and enrolling was much easier than I expected. Their reps were in and out of my place in two hours and then made the follow-up the next day just to see if I had any questions. Once the installers came in, they were on the roof and out in two or three hours. I’ve already referred two customers to them.

I researched and talked to four other solar companies and I did not like what I was looking at on those companies. Upon speaking with Vivint Solar, everything that was to my advantage is what they stood by. Their rep was totally professional and the response time was extremely quick. Anything that I needed or had a question about, if he didn't respond by email, he would stop by my house and I was very pleased with that.
I started the sign-on process in July of last year and we had to go through the permitting processes and upgrade my electrical system. Their installers were very neat, courteous and they were done within that day. I have received my first San Diego Gas & Electric bill and it was extremely low. Then, I received my auto pay bill from Vivint and it was low as well. Everything is already below the typical price point that I’ve been paying. My Vivint Solar experience was excellent. The results are phenomenal and I’m very happy with it.

Our energy provider started doing the billing based on what time of day you're using your electricity. Of course, like everybody else, we happen to be up and doing stuff at the time it's billed the most. And they've been doing tiered billing for years and I wasn't appreciative of that either. I then looked into solar energy services as I figured not only is it a savings per kilowatt hour, it's also something that's sold back. A gentleman from Vivint Solar came to our house. He had a good presentation and so I enrolled with them and got their system installed in my mother's home. The start-up was good. However, the process got slower, dragged for a while, and got lost. There were nine weeks between the completion and inspection before the final switch over was approved, which was kind of a shock as I wasn't expecting it to be that long. I felt something happened somewhere. But so far, we haven't had any complaints with our decision to go solar.

I had been with Vivint Security for a long time. A guy knocked on my door and he came in because I wanted to ask a few questions about solar energy services. He answered all without hesitation and he told me that he was actually a solar guy. He was extremely outgoing, friendly, very knowledgeable and patient. He had three references in my neighborhood of people I knew and so he went through his little presentation. The program that he laid out was pretty straightforward when it came to sizing the panels. And then, he was able to walk me through how to size the panels so that I wouldn’t be generating more electricity than I needed to pay for. Also, he was able to show me a layout of my roof and dissuade all of my concerns about inputting penetrations in my roof.
I got very interested and we went ahead with it. I like the idea that I didn’t have to put any money upfront and that I was pretty much locked in to a price with a minimal yearly escalation. I also liked the answers I got from the references that I called. Beyond the initial presentation, which pretty much sold me, the installation from start to finish has also proven to be really good, on time, and clean. People who showed up were helpful and explained to me what they were doing. I'm very satisfied with Vivint Solar and have been recommending them.

He also brought down some of his bills which were 20 bucks in the summertime and we hoped that we could do that. Everybody at Vivint has been helpful when I called. They flipped the switches on the first Saturday in January and when we got our electric bill, we were surprised and we thought we made the right choice by going solar. In fact, we've got a credit amount on our bill. Our February bill was the credit balance with the electric company already.

He was really good and always checked in with me and explained the process. He was even surprised that my solar panels were put in so quick and that my system was up and running as quick as it was. One thing I was not happy about however was the fact that when I called them and asked if we could change my billing date to better suit my needs, they said they couldn't do it. Still, enrolling with them was easy overall.

It would be beneficial for them to let us know though that we’re gonna wind up with three different utility bills. One from Vivint and two from SDG&E. Also, to give us a clearer picture of what our utility cost will be with them until it trues up. I’m paying them and paying the utility at the same time, I’ve actually seen an increase in the bill but it’s supposed to true up next November.

It’s too damn expensive to pay utilities in California. I talked to my neighbors and they all seemed to be very happy with Vivint Solar, so I went with that. All of their staff was great, courteous, and well-informed. The only thing I would love to see a little bit different is I haven't been able to log on to the website yet to look. They should have more information readily available so I could see what exactly is going on. I’m so scared by the end of the year. I’m not sure where to look to see if I have any charges I should be paying them during the month.
My neighbor bought a house that had Vivint Solar on it already and not being aware of it, he lived there for a year. At the end of the year, he got an $800 bill from Edison. It turned out that the system wasn’t designed for his household. There was no way to give the customer a heads-up before that happens. I could get that information If I try to call somebody, I just haven't had time to do that yet. It’s just like when getting a statement from Edison, it’s all spelled out. Right now, I’m doing it online, and sometimes it’s difficult. That was probably a bad decision. I maybe should’ve gone paper. But so far, I'm satisfied getting solar with Vivint. It’s been great.

I was paying a little bit too much for electricity. I wanted to go solar and I signed up with Vivint Solar. Their reps did well. I was a little upset that the guys who came out made a hole in my basement, but the issue was resolved. I was expecting them to come the next day, immediately, but they never did. It was like a miscommunication. But then I ended talking to the representative that led me to get Vivint Solar and they managed to fix that.
Also, the whole thing that was explained about the solar is that it will improve on my bill. And so far, now I have two bills, the bill of the solar and the bill for PSEG, the light company. So, I'm a little ticked off because they explained to me that it was gonna get lower. The PSEG is lower now but then, it still comes out as I will still have just the PSEG instead of the solar. But I'm gonna let this month slide because it just recently turned on.
I would like them to explain in more details if it does take time for the solar. I was told that sometimes it does take a couple of months for one to see the change in the bill. It would still be high, but give it a couple of months and then it's going to get lower. If that's the situation, then they should address that in the beginning not after everything is installed because after everything is installed, you're stuck with the payment, and that's unfair. I wanna recommend them, but I can't recommend one of my family members or friends and they'll go through the same thing I'm going through. A friend referred this guy to me and now, we're both facing the same thing. We got high bills and two bills now.

It took Vivint 3 months to remove the panels so I could have the leak fixed. Imagine 3 months of water leaking into your home every time it rains. Every department at Vivint acts like its own company, you have to completely re-explain your situation when they transfer you, which will happen 4 times a call. All together it cost me $3,800 to repair my roof, now Vivint wants to reinstall their panels. My confidence in Vivint is completely gone and I dread having to work with them any longer. It will cost $17,000 to end my contract, or have them put the panels back and risk replaying this nightmare all over again. Please do your homework and read the fine print. I have an electrical engineer friend and he said, “If you ever get the chance to get solar, do it,” so I did. Everything was relatively straightforward and as described with Vivint Solar. The only thing that I found disconcerting was their salesperson and original agent by the name of Shelby, although he was very pleasant. The moment that the system was installed, I tried calling him up for some information, but there were no return calls. And when I made further inquiries, he was no longer with the company, so I sent a letter, with my initial payment, suggesting that a top-rate manager reach out to all the customers that Shelby contracted with and say, “We apologize. He’s no longer with the company. But here’s a new number. Here’s a new contact for any further service.”
When somebody quits a company after making a bunch of sales, and if they are professional, they will say, “Oh, I’m not gonna be with the company, but here’s where you reach out. Here’s a new contact.” They just don’t hide, drop, and run away. It is completely unprofessional and Shelby did not have the courtesy to be a professional. On the other hand, the installation crew was prompt and they did a great job. All the paper underneath the tiles were very good and there shouldn’t be any issues. We’ve had some tremendous rains and I opened up the crawlspace and looked up with a flashlight, and I haven’t seen one drop. They were very courteous and they cleaned up. They were well-organized and that was an absolute bonus.

I didn't wanna go paperless and I didn't wanna withdraw the money from my bank. He specifically told me before we sign the papers that it will go paper, there will be a bill in the mail 'cause that's what I wanted to see. But then, for the first bill, they withdrew from my bank account.
Thereafter, the installers did a beautiful job. I would recommend the installers to go to somebody else's house the same way they did mine. However, the salesman ** me to get my business. I can't get a hold of him. When I call him, he calls me three weeks later upon my questions that I want an answer. I called customer service and they told me to talk with the salesman, and it's just back and forth. It's a runaround. Thereafter, I received my bill of $61 which was great. But then I received another bill from Nevada Energy which is $150. The two combined is what I used to pay. The salesman said my bill would be cut in half and I would see a big difference. I had Vivint install solar panels on my home almost 4 years ago. I live in the Palm Springs area and we benefit greatly from solar energy. Unfortunately, I didn't know until the recent rains that started last month, January 2019, that in the process of installing the solar panels many roof tiles were broken. Two different roofers have commented that the broken roof tiles are only around where the solar panels were installed. This has caused a roof leak which cannot be repaired until some of the solar panels are temporarily removed in order to replace the broken roof tiles.
Vivint told me that they would sent a team to remove the panels that the roofer has marked yesterday, February 14. 2019. I told the customer service rep that it was scheduled to rain again on the 14th and asked if, in the event of rain, my job would just "roll" to the next dry day or if I would "go to the end of the line again". I was told that it would go to the next day. Well, that proved to be a lie because when I called this morning to confirm that they would be coming because it's not raining, I was told that I would now have to wait on March 4th! This is totally unacceptable response time. I asked to speak to a supervisor and of course there is no supervisor available. So now I'm waiting to be contacted by Brittany **, who is suppose to be a supervisor, to try to honor what I was told about the job just moving to the next day. They say that calls are recorded... Rooftop installation was efficient and appeared to go well. All that was accomplished within a three month period. That is where the drama began. It is now 5 months later and even after repeated calls and many unfulfilled promises the panels are still not operational.
I have made repeated calls to the Vivint Corporate office and Long Island District Office. I scheduled my own Brookhaven Town inspection. PSE&G has inspected. Suddenly there is a problem with the schematic. It only took the Salesperson 10 minutes to generate a schematic and now the District and Corporate Office can't do one in four months. People promise to call back within 24hrs and I never hear from them; until I initiate another call. I had a lot of problems with Vivint Solar. When they first installed it my electric bill was jumping out of the roof $600 a month. I couldn't understand it because it was never ever that high when I didn't have solar. They came out several times, looked it over and then a year ago they decided to add more panels to my roof. I won't know how that works out until the summertime when we had the air conditioner on and using more electricity, to see just how it panned out.
Outside of that Vivint Solar seems to be okay. It seems to operate well. It's just trying to keep the electric cost down. Because I thought once my wife gets those panel put on, the electric company which I have, Atlantic Electric, would buy that certain amount of energy from us because we're saving, or not using it as much. But their customer service is very good. They're very nice folks. I enjoy speaking to them. They don't make me feel like I don't know anything. They try to help me and show me the best possible way they can. I'm just hoping that the panels that they have off on my roof will do what I'm thinking that they're supposed to do, and save us high cost of paying an electric bill every month.

The Florida Power Light guy told me I'm gonna see there what I receive and I see a lot of difference. It says received, delivered in maximum. The deliver is about 500, 700 and some and I received very little, 200 and something. So, I called my agent and told him there’s a lot of difference on this thing. I asked if he was sure they connected all the panels because I have paid three panels. He said it was too early to know and that he would see me but he hasn't called back.
Everything has been fine except for this. For the last few days that I see the meter, it’s not going right. I don't know if I’m right or this is right. I talked to a sales rep during the enrollment process and they set up an appointment to have somebody come out and look at the job site. Everything went okay with that so we went on to the installation. However, I had to coat my roof with silicone before they could do the installation, so I held them off for a month or two. Normally, it only takes around eight weeks for the whole process, from beginning to end. I referred my neighbor to them and they did hers a lot quicker.
When I talked to the customer service reps, the interaction was good. I am very satisfied with my decision to go solar, although I haven’t noticed a big difference in my energy bill until this past month mainly because the sun is not out as much in the winter as it is in the summer and it is lower in the sky too, which makes a big difference as far as the amount of energy the solar panels are taking. I’m sure it is gonna get better as the warmer weather gets going.

Two years ago this nightmare started! The solicitor was an unusually nice young man who, immediately after my contract was signed, revealed that he was returning to his home state of Florida; and everyone that I came to know during the installation process no longer is employed by Vivint. For a full year, I was double billed and was told they thought I wanted them to charge my Amex card also even though I was paying monthly. No money was ever returned. I was informed that the initial panels were outdated and used only in preparing the roof and installing the holding brackets. I’ve never received new panels and these are dull, dirty, uneven and squirrels and birds have built nests under them.
I’ve spoken with over twenty young employees at the company in Utah and no one knows anything! Initially my regular gas and electric bills were lower but Vivint’s bill is higher than my regular bill was. They performed an energy evaluation and discovered that I save an average of $17/month with the panel. My new roof, before panel, is now leaking and the last meter reader said there was no longer anyone in my area from Vivint and that all bills are based on guesstimates. They continue to send monthly email bills but I’ve never been able to reach anyone by phone. I’m a disabled senior and I now have to seek legal counsel regarding the damage to my home and the increased financial energy cost. WARNING: This company is a scam that seems to be operating by a group of young people out of someone’s basement in Utah.

The big issue was between Vivint, their inspectors and the city inspector. They just couldn't come at the same time for some reason. After about eight months, I was finally able to get it online. But that is a long time. I hope Vivint can find a way to get the entire system up and running with Nevada Energy instead of having to wait for eight months. There was a breakdown in communication and lack of execution. I waited months to get my system turned on. The ball wasn’t really moving ‘cause I was in contact with both my electric company and Vivint Solar. My electric company told me that they have not received the documents that they needed to get my system turned on and swap out my meter. Though I'm glad I went solar, this last leg of the process was really aggravating to me. I was waiting on Vivint's rep to lie to me and tell me that they submitted the process not realizing that I just talked to the electric company. Still, he kept it straight and he was a smart guy.
Vivint's customer service was professional but then as far as staying on top of that matter was concerned, I give them an F. My electric company was waiting but Vivint sat on the matter for months. I should have had my stuff September of last year but Vivint dragged it heaps and I didn't get my system turned on. If I hadn't made phone calls and stayed on, I probably would still be waiting on that. Also, Vivint's piece after the installation was horrible. I wanted to tell them to come in and take stuff off my roof and I would go with another competitor.

Our house is big and our air conditioning bill was horrible. So, I had been thinking about going solar but we have friends that kept saying it would cost us $20,000 to do it and we can't afford that. Then, a young man from Vivint Solar named Spencer was in our neighborhood and going to everybody’s house. He looked at our utility bill and told us that it would be this much if we went solar. He also took the time to explain the kilowatts and curtail a lot what it was gonna cost us. He did good and he came to our house a bunch of times but my husband kept saying no to him.
But I kept telling him to hang in there and to give me some time to work through it. This kid was amazing and I loved him. He was so cute and persistent but very respectful. He kept coming around and didn’t give up. Finally, when we got to the point of being able to lease the equipment and it wouldn't cost us any money upfront, my husband said yes.
Enrolling with Vivint was easy and the installers who came out did a great job, They were polite and cleaned up their messes. Then, we were waiting on Edison and everybody to kinda get all their ducks in a row. We had to wait on an inspector but that was our accounting inspector and that wasn’t Vivint's fault. At any time they have seen anything that they felt wasn’t right, they’ve come out to us. One time, we talked with Vivint's customer service rep because the system wasn’t working right. They had a little box on the other side of the house for our internet and we moved that little box over closer to the box of solar. The system worked out fine since then. Now we're happy and we're starting to see the results of going solar with Vivint. I’m kinda anxious about summer but we liked their service so far. I also have the app on my phone to see how much the panels are making every day and it’s kinda fun to watch.

I really enjoy working with Vivint Solar. It's a pleasure. They always keep me informed and they answer all my questions. The longest delay was waiting for government agencies like for permitting. Then PG&E took several months to register this. Vivint Solar also had a little trouble in the installation. It was a wiring issue and it took them well into the evening to get it finished, whereas they told me it would only take about half a day. So they struggled a little and they had to come back and double-check it. But stuff happens. Nonetheless, Vivint Solar has been very professional and courteous. The experience has been really great. We started last summer and it has been eight months, and the system saved me 100 bucks last month. I also referred it to my friend and that was a bonus. Vivint Solar sent me a $250 check for the referral. It was great.

My neighbor told me about Vivint Solar and when I talked to their salesman, he was good. So, I enrolled with them and it was easy. Aside from that, the installation was done professionally. There are straight lines and the installers squared them up. They were very easy to work with. Plus, the panels look good and so far, they've been working excellently. But since it's winter, I haven't seen the benefits of going solar yet. Other than that, when I was about a month into the program, I couldn't get on the computer to see how the system was working. So, I talked with Vivint's tech support and they’ve helped me out and got me on track.

Before I got Vivint Solar, I told my wife that I would never put solar panels on my roof. But when some gentleman named Corbin came knocking on my door, his knowledge and professionalism changed my mind. Corbin was unbelievable and he made it so informative for me as a customer. He said that there would be no out of pocket expenses and no fine prints. I also liked it when he said that I could save money if I went solar. So, I enrolled with Vivint and it was a breeze. The whole installation team did a great job as well. I was happy with them and I even bought them pizza and soda.
Overall, I’m a satisfied customer. But I haven't seen any savings yet because we just got the panels turned on a little over a month ago and it's winter right now. Vivint told me I would see my maximum savings in the summertime when the sun’s higher in the sky. I got 49 panels on my roof, so I’m hoping to see a significant savings because I’m sick of paying the local energy companies in our area. It’s like a monopoly, they got it locked up, and they’re pretty much the only game in town.
Other than that, if I have a problem with my solar services, I call Corbin. But I haven't had any from the moment he knocked on the door until we went through the permits and I had to sign some papers. Plus, I didn’t have to lay out a dime, so they stuck to their word and I liked that. Vivint is an excellent company and I would highly recommend them to others.

When we had our solar panels installed about 8 months ago Vivint Solar told us our roof was in good condition and had at least 10 years of life left. We just had a home inspection because we are selling our home and turns out our roof needs to be replaced. Customer service could not help us. They told us we have to write a letter to legal. Our other option is to pay $2500 to remove the panels and then replace the roof. I would never recommend Vivint Solar. They are very dishonest and are not willing to help us.

I was impressed by what Vivint was offering for security so we did that then a little bit later, they asked me about solar. We had had solar on the other house so I ended up doing that as well. The approach that they have, as far as people saying what it is that’s gonna happen, what your obligation is to it and what theirs is, has all been very clear and professional. The only thing that I probably just didn't understand fully was regarding some of the processes for getting it finally hooked up. That seemed to take a little bit longer than I was anticipating. But it wasn’t anything alarming and it probably had nothing to do with Vivint. It had to do with the city, PG&E and Angelica Homes. That aside, enrolling in the program was easy to do.
We've barely gotten the system turned on but so far, I'm very impressed. We went live about a month and a half ago and everything is fine. I can go online and see our production. Vivint Solar has also done what they said and the work has been good. The people that came to see me when it was being installed were very courteous and professional as well. My experience has been good overall.

First of all, these panels are a waste and I would never recommend Vivint solar to anyone. We moved into our current place on August. So it was not our choice but we were asked to take the lease over. On August, September and October, there were some "technical" problems with the meter, so we didn't get any credits for produced electricity. Our roof faces south and there are no trees nearby that would obscure the sunlight. Also, we have 13 solar panels. In the month of January, it only produced little over 200 kwh and we got credit of 108 kwh on our electricity bill. Even the lady at the electricity company says that this is very low kwh produced for any solar panels.
I think Vivint solar uses pretty low grade panels. I called customer service with this concern and he would only say because it's winter. But even with a common sense, 13 panels to produce only 200 khw for a whole month doesn't make sense. I asked him if they could send a technician to make sure all the panels are working and he says there is no need because the panels are working fine. I wanted to get the panels off from the roof and he says we are bound to 20 year contract. What a complete waste when the panels are just taking a room on your roof and not even helping with your electricity bill but I guess Vivint Solar really doesn't care!!
We are disheartened to hear about your experience so far. We want to help. We have assigned a specialist to review your system and reach out to you regarding this concern. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Right now, the solar is not saving me any money. I’m paying two bills – the electric bill and the solar bill. The solar bill is not that large right now. But I’m still paying the electric bill so I really don't see the difference. As soon as Vivint put the solar in, they told me I could turn it on and it wasn’t hard to turn on. I thought that as soon as you got the solar, your electric bill would go away and you’d just pay their taxes, maybe $30, then you would pay your solar bill, whatever it was monthly. But that’s not what it is. It’s like you’re waiting on the energy from the sun to come to give you that credit. And if you don’t have enough, then you’re paying two bills.
Right now, I'm paying 50-something with solar and then another 170-something with my electric company. So I’m paying more. I thought since it's just me in my house, I was gonna be paying less than $200. I don’t know if the bill is gonna even out down the line but right now, it seems like I’m paying more out of my pocket. I called the company and they gave me to their solar department, and the rep said I probably wouldn't see a difference for a minute. I also talked to people here and four around my neighborhood has solar. I have a couple of co-workers as well. They said it would take a minute before I even see the difference and that I will continue to have a bill with APS. When people at Vivint Solar make their presentation, they need to let people know upfront that they will not see a difference in their electric bill until they have at least six months to a year and that they will always keep their electric bill.
I called Vivint Solar twice to get an understanding of the system but the lady I spoke with didn’t even know if I was with a program. I'm leasing but I guess they've got purchasing and leasing, and she was confused. Even though I gave her my information, she gave me the wrong information. Then she came back and said she wasn't really sure so I just disregarded it. Then the last time I spoke to someone, I was trying to figure out how the bill comes out. I thought I had set it up for direct debit, which I did, but I couldn't tell. I told the rep that I was on the system and she told me where I needed to go and what boxes I needed to click. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known to go and pull that up.
The enrollment process with Vivint was simple. I was accepted into a program then they did everything for me. I met the qualifications and it just rolled on in. The next thing I knew, they were putting the solar panels up. They told me what I needed to do and I had to be at the house when they came and put the solar up. The person who was directing the installation told me everything that was gonna happen. He very knowledgeable, and he explained it to me step-by-step and what to look for. He was excellent. I work from home from time to time though, and it was a little noisy. But that was to be expected because they were on top of my roof. And other than that, the team was fast. I don't even think it took four hours. They did what they needed to do and they were really good.

Vivint was easy to sign up with and installation was a breeze. However, they failed to really explain that we would owe our regular electric company after the end of a 12 month period. We were caught off guard, but moved past that disappointment. About a year later, we had a return visit from a salesperson saying the could add panels to our roof to save us even more money. We gladly installed more panels. Somehow the system stopped communicating with Vivint. We were not notified. Apparently this lack of communication was going on for about 6-7 months. I found out when one of our bills came in saying we didn't owe anything.
I called Vivint and they sent out a technician. Once the panels were communicating properly again we thought everything would be fine. Then we received a larger than normal bill, double the amount. I called in customer service and they had to put in a request to have the account reviewed. They based this billing off of their guesstimate of usage, which was a completely exaggerated guesstimate. I called customer service to have the account reviewed. They denied my claim, but never once called me to explain that it was denied or why. I called a few times and I guess each time they put in a new claim and each time it was denied, but I was never given notification that it was under review or that it had been denied.
I had to call customer service at least 7 times over a two month period before I was finally able to speak to a manager. The manager, after several phone calls and me sending him a spreadsheet of the usage and what we should be charged, finally got our bill reduced. However it was still over what we should be owing. When I asked that he send me a breakdown of the calculations, he said he could not share that with me. A partial credit was applied to the correct account and a partial credit was applied to an incorrect account. (We have 2 accounts. 1 for the first set of panel and 1 for the second set. They could not but both sets on 1 account.) I called customer service to try and straighten out those account and make them correct. I was told they could not moved the credit to the correct account.
Now, our second system is not communicating with Vivint, again. This has been going on since January and I only found out because I went onto the dashboard to see why my last payment was not taken out of my account. I'm so sick of being on the phone with these people. This process took 4 months to get resolved, and I would not even consider it a resolution at this point. If you do not have your payments coming directly out of your bank account, you do not have access to look at your monthly billing. You will also be charged an extra $5 per month penalty.
Half of my time on the phone with customer service is being placed on a 3-5 minute hold, over, and over, and over so that they can review the account. Shouldn't all previous notes just automatically be a few keystrokes away? If not, it's time to update your CRM. This does not even cover the roof leak we had and the fact that it took a month before they could look at it and then 2 months before they could come fix the roof, repaint our ceiling, and replace the crown molding. We really wish we could get out of this contract.
We apologize for the frustrations this has caused. We want to have a specialist look into this situation and help resolve your concerns. We have assigned a specialist to reach out to you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The kid that sold the Vivint Solar package to the lady next door to me came over to get an approval for the association that says I didn’t mind her having solar. I had him come talk to me when he got through with her. I’ve been thinking about doing solar for a while. Here in Vegas, if all you have is an air conditioner, your power bill flies in the summertime. When he came over, what he presented to me was a viable option. The enrollment process took quite a while which was surprising. We had to get this permission for the building department, from Nevada Power and from my aunt Martha in Ottumwa, Iowa. There were a lot of inspections but it finally got fired up. It’s only been going for a couple of months now and it seems to be working.
I like that there were no batteries. That's a good plus on their side. You have to get a battery pack the size of a refrigerator out in your garage to make a lot of solar systems work and I don’t like that idea. Eventually, batteries die, and then, you’ll have to pay a disposal fee of $47,000. The installation was neat and tidy but it wasn’t tucked away. It’s sitting on the outside of my house and it’s ugly looking. My neighbor right next to me has the same floor plan that I have, only it’s just a mirror. I have a right, she has a left, and her conduit and everything seems to be tucked neatly under the fascia boards and everything. She has great little vines, it comes right down the side of the wall and over and up. It’s done and it ain't gonna be changed. Nevertheless, I like the solar so far.
There are two things in the world I can’t handle. Number two is a thief and number one is a liar. That kid crossed the line and lied to me. The kid told me that they would not do an automatic withdrawal and they would send a paper bill. They didn’t do that. I called Vivint Solar’s customer service and the first little girl I talked to didn't seem to be able to have the authority to do anything, so I talked to the supervisor. He removed the auto pay. I don’t like people jumping into my checking account carrying their statement and when they did that, that really frosted like cake. He took care of it and they wanna do the paperless thing. I can do that and this is coming to me in a form of an email, so it’s still coming to me.
I have been contemplating selling my house and worst-case scenario, the people would come by and they would say that they doesn’t want solar. The kid said that if for any reason in the future, if I’m dissatisfied with the solar or if I sell my house and the people that buy it are dissatisfied with it, they’ll just come in and remove it but that’s not the case. I found out that I’m stuck with this thing for 20 years and that was not what was represented to me when we switched solar. I don’t know if I would have said, “No,” but I would have thought about it a little longer than I did. He didn't say I was responsible for putting it out.

We had hail damage requiring a new roof which also shattered one of our brand new panels. It took approximately 4 months to get Vivint to finally come out and remove the panels so we could replace the roof. Expect to be on hold for at least 30 minutes for any call that isn't for sales. Once you wait 30 minutes, expect to be transferred to another department for another 30+ minutes. This happens every time I call. No one can figure out which department deals with existing issues. Apparently there is a department for removal and reinstall.
But they don't deal with scheduling. And to buy a new (replacement) panel, you have to talk to sales. After you schedule the install. Which could happen before the new panel arrives. Which means waiting at least 30 minutes to talk to scheduling. In my 15+ calls concerning this issue with them, I've had one person who was willing to go above and beyond to figure out everything required - but this was just for the removal. Now is the monumental task of scheduling the reinstall. I've spent approximately 2.25 hours on the phone so far (and counting as I'm on hold now) and literally nothing has been done to get my panels back on the roof. So if customer service is high on your list, I would strongly consider another company until Vivint can figure out a better system.

My neighbor recommended Vivint Solar. She said there would be no initial cost and she talked it up. But there were so many different things. The city might have had a backlog and it took them a while to get out. But then they didn't like our walls being so close. So there was like, "Okay. Where are we gonna put the panel?" We had to do some construction and that took quite a while so that there was a 30-inch clearance. That was not any fault of anyone. But Vivint Solar should have known that we needed that clearance.
The person who initially comes out, whether it's a salesman or whoever, should have a better understanding of what might go wrong, to give the customer an appreciation of how long it would take. Because that 30-inch clearance was not even talked about for a few months. Then they were gonna dig a ditch, like cut into the concrete. One subcontractor, the electrician, may have messed up a little bit too. He put a 110 wire, where there should've been a 220, to one of our heaters. Then it wasn't marked on the panel. So he had to be called back out. But I don't know if he fixed that.
There were also several holes in the roof. I think they were searching for a joist but they didn't refill those holes and that is unforgivable. If you're gonna drill a hole, at least fill it back in. When it rained, there was leaking through the roof into the wall. Then it snuck inside the window so my windowsill was wet every time it rained. They came out and tried to fix it. But it's gonna rain again today and if it leaks, then I'm not happy again. There are just a few things that make me exhausted and it's taking a while. We're almost up to speed but not quite. There's still a glitch. I like the people though. All the people I dealt with were fine and really conscientious. They were all good and they tried their best. And I give high marks to Dylan. He was great.

When they installed our system, the people who did the installation said that we would have a 30-day wait before we could go solar. But in all actuality, it was 2 months and 10 days. I had been interested in solar energy since the early '70s. It was just a question of finding a practical way of using it. I saw Vivint on Facebook and I expressed interest. They started calling me and it all sounded like a good deal. There was no upfront cost and the cost per kilowatt was reasonable. SunBug Solar came in a few years ago but they wanted about $25,000 upfront. Once I signed with Vivint Solar, the crew was there and the panels were up. That wasn't the problem. The problem was I couldn't turn the system on until I got permission and it was a very slow process. The part I was not crazy about was the paperwork. It had to go back to somewhere in the state and the state had to okay it but there was this bouncing back and forth and it took weeks to set up the system. The paperwork must have gotten lost and had to be resubmitted.
It took about three months from installation to activation and by then, summer was over. I didn't have a problem with the way they handled themselves though. It was more of a question of trying to get this thing on the way. But other than the delayed time, I'm very satisfied with Vivint. We've had quite a bit of sun. I'm getting the bills from Vivint and from National Grid, and the National Grid bills are a lot lower than it used to be. We're not shy about electricity either.

The people at Vivint Solar answered anything that I had a question on and the people who came over to install the system were very nice and pleasant. After that, I had another call from the salesman asking how we were satisfied with it. In particular, we were impressed with the gentleman who came in here. He explained everything and he seemed to be honest. My neighbors had used them as well so we got a little feedback from him. So far, we've had a good experience. We were not interested in buying the solar itself. We're just leasing and it seems to be working. I'm very satisfied so far, as long as we don't have to go up and clean the panels. I also referred Vivint Solar to another neighbor of mine.

We were looking into getting solar energy services. We had another company, but then we lost track of their rep. Then, Alejandro from Vivint Solar came in at the right time. He was going around in the neighborhood and advertising. Also, our neighbor next door had just installed hers, so we kind of like piggybacked from her. We did the enrollment online and the customer service was good. They always responded politely to whatever questions we had. There was a problem when all the lights on the lower level went off when they were installing the panels and we didn’t know what the problem was. They went out of their way and called an electrician to fix it when whoever was installing the panels could not do it. That was a plus.

We talked to a representative from a different company about solar and I’ve been thinking about it. One of the things that prompted us to go solar was our $310 electric bill during the summer, and then a $308 and a $300 one following that. We looked at it pretty closely because we’ve heard some many horror stories of people signing up with solar and then through the course of events, getting their houses repo-ed. We were pretty hesitant, but our solar representative from Vivint Solar did a great job of explaining things to us. And when we had questions, he was quick to answer them and had reasonable explanations. We finally decided we couldn't afford those kind of bills anymore.
I was slightly disappointed in the winter thing because the rep did say that our bills from APS should be around 15 bucks plus the solar bill. And it turns out it was 30 bucks. That worries me just a little bit, a nice preset turn for the summer, when we’re gonna be using the air conditioning and everything so much, whether or not it’s gonna be lower or am I gonna get hit with both the solar bill of 100 bucks and an APS bill of 100 to 150 or something. But the customer service rep is very good. I told him that amount. I sent him my last two bills and he’s looking at them.

It was a no brainer for us and our rep Josh ** was top notch. He was a no pressure rep who explained everything very thoroughly and was diligent with follow up. Concern about climate change is very important to me and to my family and so far, I'm happy with our decision to go solar. We enrolled with Vivint Solar and the whole process was pretty straightforward but it was a little too long for me. It took four or five months. Also, there was an instance in which they asked for me to do some maintenance and I made an appointment. They were supposed to be there but they never told me they came and did it. And then they didn’t keep me in the loop. But whenever I had a concern, they always got back to me, although it didn’t happen right away.

We had a young man visit us and he was a nice and personable person. We got interested in Vivint's program as we didn't have to pay for the solar system itself. We filled out an application and made sure that we passed the credit check. It took about two and a half months and then we were connected. The first time installation was pretty fast. The guys came out, removed the tiles and put in the system right away. There was one tile that got cracked on the side of our house and they replaced it. We recently added more panels. Edison, the actual provider, was difficult. Some of the processes got held up by them ‘cause somebody had to come out and look at everything. Then, the billing from Edison became ridiculous and that was one of the reasons we decided to go 100% solar. We were only at 80% and we’re at 103% solar now.
The only issue I had was with the young man that took the salesmanship over. He was not quite the same as the other guy. He said one thing that offended me and I called Vivint Solar because I didn’t like what he said. Otherwise, we like Vivint Solar's service. We’ve only had them for a couple years, so we're hoping that they stand by their word. They’ve helped us and responded when we’ve had any kind of issues. So far, we’re satisfied with our solar program. It's one of the things that will help us in the next seven years if there’s a problem, which I hope there won’t be. I’ve recommended Vivint Solar to a couple people.

Vivint Solar was in the neighborhood doing some surveys then their salesperson came by and left his business card on my door. We called them and they came out and talked to us a few times. They were very helpful and upfront. They sent people out to estimate the validity of the roof and to make sure that it would support the panels. Then after the roof was approved, they were very rapid in setting up a schedule and doing the actual install of the panels. The salesperson, Jorge, was very good on answering any question and getting back to me as soon as everything got scheduled. He told me when the installers were gonna be here and they were here on that day, even earlier than the time that was set.
The crew was like half a dozen guys and I couldn't believe how well they worked together and I was amazed how well they took care of everything. Everybody got their ladders out, they had about three or four ladders going. They had people going up and down, putting the parts up, and lifting panels and the final installation. They also put up cones and barrier tape around there to shield off anybody from getting in their construction zone. They had the 19 panels put up on my roof in a matter of hours. They were going in every which direction and cleaned up everything.
Also, I was surprised how efficient this crew worked. Nobody sat around or moaned and groaned. And it was a sunny day, too. I offered them drinks and they told me they’ve got all their own drinks. They have worked together for a while and had good leadership and supervision from the supervisor who kept everybody on his toes. The crew just was a well-oiled machine. I even called the company and I said that those guys deserve a pat on the back because there was not one person that didn’t do his job.
After the panels were installed, though, it took a while before Nevada Power got on here and put the meter. Vivint had checked back and told me then that I was still on the scheduling for that, but they really have no control when the power company was gonna come. And now, we’ve had two bills, $31 for the first time and $61 this last billing, and I’m really looking towards the summer to evaluate what the bills are gonna be. It’s kind of the wintery time and in the last couple of weeks, there hasn’t been that many sunshine days. Nevertheless, I’m very satisfied with my whole experience with Vivint Solar.

Original Review: Time and time again this DEPARTMENT seems incapable of putting notes in their system. Every time I have to talk with someone, I am put on hold while they try to find the information I have given them. I am convinced that they purposely hire people who couldn't find water if they were in the ocean. Recently they applied a payment in my account improperly giving my account a large credit. Because of the credit, my auto payment didn't go through for December. Had to call to get that straightened out, was told my next auto pay would reflect December and January payment. Apparently, no notes in the system because today I get a call saying my account is past due for December. The BILLING rep did not find any notes about the mistake that VIVINT made. I have had it with this company.

I received this young guy at my house saying he was from Vivint Solar. I explained to him that several solar companies had come to my house offering me to go solar and I had declined the proposal because I didn’t want a lean on my house title. He promise me Vivint didn’t put a lean on your house and gave it to me in writing a paper saying I will have no lean in my house. I’m selling my house and here we found there was what is called a UCC lean on my property. When I called the customer service department tells me that it is not a lean. It is a notice that they owned the panels on your house. And that if the new owner does not want the panels I would have to keep paying for the power produced for the remaining of my contract and the new owner will get power for free.
Due to this fiasco I had to delay the closing of my property because even though I convinced the new owner to stay with the panels Vivint couldn’t expedite their process because it is their policy. They have from 24 to 72 hours for the rush request to send the release documents. And they don’t care about nothing else even if I lose. The sell is not their problem. I would recommend to everybody not to install those panels. At the end of the day is not worth it the savings (pennies) In comparison with the hassle. And on top of everything they fool you to sign the contract saying there is no lean.

After all, going solar appealed to me as it saves energy and money. My bill was $107 a month. They're trying to decrease the bill to where it becomes comfortable for me to pay it.
When I signed for Vivint Solar, they gave me the general terms of getting the solar. They did not push like the other suppliers did. They showed me what they could and couldn't do for me so I agreed to go along with it. In addition, the customer service reps were good in explaining what would happen, how the bill would be paid, the terms and conditions of getting it, and how the bills would be separated. I’ll be getting the bills from Eversource, which is our energy supply here and so far, it’s been like that.
The only thing I’m really worried about is the bill. The first time I got was $29, and then the second time, it was $50. It was supposed to decrease, not increase. But on the other side, the bill from the electric company was lower. Still, for me, it’s kind of high for the meantime, probably because of the winter. But when the summer comes and I get more of my electricity from solar, it’ll be lower than what I have now. Otherwise, I have no problem at all. I recommend anybody to have Vivint Solar. The communication was good up through installation so, I don’t have any complaints about that. However, after the installation, the communication did not go quite as well. I had trouble getting in touch with my sales rep. I have no idea whether that was my fault or what was going on there, but that was a bit frustrating.
Vivint Solar dropped the ball after the panels were installed. It took five weeks to get the city to inspect which was not the city’s fault. Once I started contacting Vivint customer service and started complaining, within 24 hours, things started moving at a pace that was acceptable. I did not trust that Vivint wasn’t going to drop the ball again so I called them constantly to make sure they were moving. If I hadn’t started calling and becoming painful, it would’ve been longer. They sent out a contractor. He checked and resealed the three and also found that one of the flashing was never sealed in the original installation. It took them 2 months to remove all our panels and that was finally done on November 21st 2018. Keep in mind during these three months we had continuous leaks in our roof. We had to throw out quite a bit of stuff in our attic from water damage. Our insulation is ruined. I had water damage to my bedroom ceiling and living room ceiling because of the leaks.
Finally on Dec 14 our roof was replaced. I get a bill today for December's billing. Keep in mind I had no panels on our roof since Nov 21st, but they are charging me $24.44 for solar production. Vivint's sales people came around the neighborhood and at that time, we were not yet considering going solar. But they said they’d save us money on our electric bill, so we signed up with them. Two sets of panels were installed in our house and we have two accounts with Vivint Solar. Paying two separate bills for solar panels on one home causes a little bit of disruption in trying to budget because you don’t know how much each panel was going to generate at a variable feature of the solar panel in general. We got a bill for $28 on one shot then we got a bill for $30 on another shot. But with the regular electric bill, you can go on what they call a budget plan where you lock in a fixed rate each month and at the end of the year, they make an adjustment and you either get a credit or you owe a difference in underpaid usage.
When you have a situation like we have now with two separate accounts not being married together, it makes it kinda hard to project in the future what our electric bill is gonna be. Now the Pepco portion of the bill, we have it as a fixed rate and it’s a bit high. But not having a complete full year with both the accounts and the Pepco bill married together, it’s very difficult to budget ahead especially for those of us who are on “fixed incomes”. Unlike a car or insurance payment where you know every month what your payment is gonna be, we're kinda scratching our head with the Vivint situation we now have.
With the very unpredictable nature of mother nature, we’re not gonna know how much kilowatt production goes to systems they’re gonna generate until we got some time under our belt. This past winter was cold, but this winter that we’re currently experiencing has been unseasonably hot. For instance, today, the temperature is gonna go up to 60 degrees but last year at this time, the temperature never broke 30.
I was also concerned that because of the two accounts being generated, we were not made aware that once we got the second set of panels, which consist of 21 panels, to marry up with the 22 that we already had, we had to log on to Vivint's website and turn on a “switch.” The second set was put on the house last August and while we were getting a bill on the initial installation, we never got a bill for September, October, November, and December. So that also added to the confusion. Finally, by way of telephone communication with Vivint's account payable department, we were able to find out what the bill was on the second installment and we paid it. And hopefully by the end of this month, we’ll know what the two separate bills are for for the first time,
Other than that, we enjoy the service. I also know that Vivint has good people and I’m not complaining about the product itself. The problem is overseeing the product and meeting our liability and obligations to Vivint Solar because as customers, we’re getting a product and service that we have to pay for but we're unable to project down the road because there is no fixed rate program available.
In the future, when we have a “track record” well established with the kilowatt consumption on average, maybe at that point we might be able to think seriously about improvement for Vivint to the customers that would allow them to do what the general electric companies in the neighborhood do like Pepco or Philadelphia Power Gas Electric up in Philly area. Because people want to be able to plan ahead of time how much money they need to set up and set aside so that any obligation, financial or otherwise, can be met without any strain or effort on the part of the homeowners.
The other problem I ran into with Vivint was the snow guards. The ones on the front panels of the initial installation were covered by Vivint because we had a blizzard and because of the lack of the snow guards, our rain gutters came down. So we had to hire somebody to come out and fix them. Vivint was very good and very accommodating in admitting their error and they reimbursed us for the cost of re-hanging the rain gutters. When the second set was placed on the home, we were told that snow guards would be included but we found out after the installation that they were not included and that we had to pay almost $1,000 to have 30 feet of snow guard installed.
The issue with that is, we didn’t own the panels. Vivint does and we are renting them. So as a rental product, we are held liable as a homeowner to pay for protection of those panels and I had a real problem with that. So as of today, we do not have snow guards on our north-facing solar panels. That is an issue that never got resolved because I don’t have $900 to pay for that. And if I do pay for it and something happens to the snow guards, they become defective or do damage to either the roof itself or the panels themselves, who’s liable? That’s another issue that never got resolved. So that’s where I stand right now.
Vivint needs to do some type of analysis based on regional locations of the homes in the United States. As a general rule, homes in Florida, Arizona, Southern California, Alabama, Mississippi, and Southern Georgia, are not gonna have a snow guard problem. But when you get north of the Mason-Dixon line, we’re subject to heavy snow damage or blizzard condition. So it should become an “automatic” portion of any future installments. Vivint really needs to seriously consider that because the panels are their property and they need to put into their program that additional protection to their property. Other than that, with using their service and the solar panels, we’re helping reduce the cost of electrical generation for our homes and helping reduce carbon emission. That's a very good thing and everybody should strive for that.
Hello John. We are sorry to hear that you've had some concerns regarding your billing as well as with snow guards. Please feel free to send us an email and we can look further into this for you. Thank you.

Getting solar was something I had been wanting to do for years. I never thought I could afford it but enrolling with Vivint Solar was very easy. We did it online and over the phone. I also had a rep here in my home and we were doing whatever confirmations they needed verbally. For the most part, the customer service was good. But when I finally got my authorization from my local power company to turn the system on, I called Vivint up and I talked to a nice gentleman who gave me bad information about how to activate the system. So there were a couple of days that the system was ready to go but I didn’t have use of it.
Then I called in a second time and talked to a young lady. She was awesome and she explained how the other person really didn't know what he was talking about. But she said it in a nice way. I was also certain that the guy I talked to was wrong but since I had never done solar, I couldn’t swear to that. Other than that, Vivint Solar has been good and responsive for everything. I haven’t had any of my APS bills yet but I figure it’s gonna take a couple months to get the real picture of what’s going on. I'm waiting for my bills to see what happens. Nonetheless, I’m a happy camper.
We're so happy to hear about your positive experience, Paul! Thank you for choosing us as your solar provider.

I got interested in renewable energy and I looked into solar energy services. The solar part was good but the process with Vivint Solar was hard. It took us up to two years to get our system up and running but it was all due to miscommunication. They came up and they put half of our system up and they wouldn’t put the other part on horizontal rafters until they support them and they forgot to tell somebody that they could not complete the project until they get it done. They completed the first part and got half the system working. Our public service company was very quick, so they came out, inspected and approved half the system. They gave us the meter and once that was on, it was hard for someone to come in and finish the project because there was an existing system.
During the beginning, it was hard to communicate with anybody and since we were in such a unique situation and I had to explain what was going on, it was hard to get any answers. There could’ve been stuff happening behind the scenes but there wasn’t enough communication to say that they were still looking on it and they haven’t forgotten about me. However, the manager that we’ve had here towards the end worked hard to get us going and kept up with communications. He came in from some other state and he said that he came in because of my situation. They brought him in to help us out.
Hi Larry. We are sorry to hear that your experience with going solar was not a good experience but we're happy to hear that your recent experience with the manager that has been working with you was a good one. Vivint Solar is the most incompetent & unreliable company I have ever dealt with! Their customer service deserves less than 1 star. I just spoke with Trent a customer service manager that informed me that I have no rights because I already signed a contract with them. This guy doesn't realize I have never signed ANY CONTRACT!!! & I ALREADY HAVE PANELS ON MY ROOF. I HOPE HE FIGURES OUT CUSTOMER SERVICE REALLY QUICK. I would have never signed up for this service if I would've been given the contract to read & sign prior to installation!

Vivint Solar's representatives were very knowledgeable and helpful about a lot of things. They explained what the program was, how it was gonna work, gave us a timeline that we could expect certain things to happen, and everything certainly happened within that timeframe that they told us. It was very accurate so we knew what to expect.
We live in a development with a HOA and found out after the fact that for our HOA, the conduit on a roof needed to be the same color as the roof. If I had known to ask our HOA about that, we could’ve taken care of having that painted right away instead of having HOA come back and having a week or two to get that done. A lot of people do live in areas that have HOAs and there are requirements that go along with that. Vivint Solar said they never heard of that, but then when we talked to other people, there are a lot of other developments near us that have the same requirements where it has to all match.
Hi Katherine. We are happy to hear that our teams were knowledgable and were able to explain the steps of the process to go solar. We are sorry to hear that there was an issue with your HOA and the conduit needing to be painted but glad they were able to address it. Thank you for going solar with us.

I had spoken with a gentleman years ago regarding solar and at that time, it was a little bit different of a program, so I opted not to go with solar. And whenever Danny, a sales rep of Vivint Solar, came knocking I just told him I wasn’t interested and I had already looked into it. He came back and said it would be a different style and way of doing solar. I listened to him and looked at it, and finally, my wife and I accepted it. The enrollment and installation were okay. Everything’s pretty good as far as getting here and doing the work, like putting up the solar panels. I recommended it to my brother and another person. The only thing that I’m waiting for is if they’re gonna fix my problem on my roof. The person that came to do the inspection on the solar panels on top of the roof laid the ladder against the composition and broke some of the shingles. I talked with Danny and he said he had turned in a work order, but I haven’t heard anything.

Any way to save money appealed to me and I found out about Vivint Solar. We live in Vegas so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t all have it. It took a long time to get things started with the enrollment, but it was fine once it started. The rep we worked with was excellent and customer service sent us the emails, which were fine. However, I realized this weekend that one of the tiles on my roof where they worked is cracked. Also, I referred our neighbor who was interested but nobody got back to him when he tried to contact them so he went with another company. I was unhappy with that. They need to follow-up whenever somebody wants to sign up. Other than that, Vivint Solar is excellent and I'm very happy.

We had Vivint install the solar panels last December and I was thinking we would build up credits throughout the year then be able to use those credits of generated electricity in times when we have low production. When I called Edison, they said that that was zeroed out on the anniversary of our installation, so that means we would end up going through January with no credits and our rate would be a little bit higher. So those are fine details that I didn’t quite understand when we were started with Vivint. Everything else has been positive.
Initially, when their guy came to the door, we didn’t know much about going solar. And usually, we don’t like to talk to people door to door, but he seemed to be informative and friendly. So we listened and we wanted to do our part for the renewal energy and climate change, so we decided to go ahead and do it even though he said that it would probably end up costing us nearly $10 a month for our production would probably even out. But then we have a connection fee with Edison that would be about 10 bucks a month and that’s part of what we’d end up paying over what we’re paying now.
The installation went well and pretty smoothly. They kept in contact and told us some things would happen, and they pretty much happened that way. The city came out and did an inspection of our house and one of the things they said we had to have was CO2 detectors in all of bedrooms. We had some in the hallways just outside the bedrooms but they said they wanted them in the bedrooms and one outside the hall. And they got the Vivint guy here when this happened and he said they'd supply those. He said they'd come over, give them to us, and we could put them in. So he told us to tell the guys from the city that we've got them. So we did and we haven’t gotten any from them. It was kinda strange that they would be giving this stuff and I don’t know if the guy spoke out of line or not.
But we plan on having to go down and buy some CO2 detectors to put in the bedrooms because I told the city guys we had them and we really don’t have them, so we will have to rectify that. Nobody ever mentioned that before and it seemed kinda weird that Vivint's rep would say and do something that he didn’t. Also, I don’t even know his name. I’ve never seen him before and haven’t seen him since.
So far, we’re not getting much solar energy. We’ve got a big tree in the backyard and this is the worst time of the year for solar for us. I imagine our electricity bill is gonna be quite a bit higher this month than it was last December or January. But I’m sure there are a lot of legal things why they couldn’t maximize our solar production and it was just marginal.
Going solar is gonna cost you a little bit of money, but it’s whatever you think you wanna do for the cause and if you’re willing to do that, I would suggest using Vivint. In fact, I just talked to my brother last week and told him about them. Getting the system was free and we haven’t put a penny into it. So we’re doing our part with no out of pocket expenses. And we were such slow consumers of electricity. We were marginal and we just barely qualified. We’re senior citizens and we would have never paid for it in our lifetime.
Hello Carl. We love hearing that our customers are excited about going green. However, we are sorry to hear that you have not heard back regarding the CO2 detectors. Feel free to send us an email and we can look further into this for you. Thank you for your feedback.

I purchased my house in December of 2017, the solar was part of the home purchased and was a requirement to take over the lease. This was all fine and good. We were told upon closing that we would need to contact Vivint to transfer the lease in our name. We contacted them and sent them the information they needed. A couple months later I started receiving calls stating my account was past due. I contacted Vivint and it was found they gave me the previous owner's account information to make the payments and they would correct the issue. It took about 3 months before they finally fixed the issue.
Now we had to have our roof replaced back in September 2018 and had to have the solar removed during that time. It was stated they would not bill me for the time the solar was off the roof and I would receive a credit for the partial month it was off that I had already paid. It is now January 2019 and they still have not credited the account. One department says one thing. The other says another. It's just back and forth like it was when I took over the house. I would not recommend Vivint to anyone based on my experience.

Electric bills were sky-high last summer and some neighbors near me had gotten solar so I decided to look into getting solar energy services too. I got Vivint Solar and the enrollment process was easy on the website. I did that before I had the system installed. But in getting the data, they kept telling me there was some technical issue and somebody was working on it. I was ticked off. I called their customer service multiple times, multiple days and different people looked into it. Technical service said that the system should be up within a week but I’ve heard that three different times. I called back this past Thursday and somebody supposedly talked to a supervisor and knew exactly what was going on, but it’d still take another five days.
I’ve had continuing difficulty trying to get through the app and the website to understand what solar is actually being captured. This has been going on for over a month which was very frustrating and that was the time where you needed to have a good, clean hand-off. And you have a somebody who, finally, after going through all the baloney, all the drawings, all the regulatory stuff, was then able to turn the system on. It should’ve worked the moment I turned the switch but instead of that being a take-off point where I could be a raving fan, it has been a mixed feeling. So far, I haven’t gotten my first real bill from the utility provider. I’m looking forward to seeing what the solar system can do and the promise that it has. I check everyday if I can see anything but still nothing and that stinks. It just piles up.

Going solar was something we thought about when we first purchased our house, but we weren’t really sure if we wanted to do that quite yet. Then, a representative from Vivint Solar came to our house. He explained what solar was, how it all works, the history of solar, and where the energy comes from. We thought about it for a couple of months and he was fantastic about being patient with us and waiting for us to be definite with our decision. We wanted to get a few bills in our home, because it was a brand new home, to see if it was worth it to have. Vivint's rep then walked us through the process of signing the documents and installation. When the panels were installed, everybody was very helpful and everything was great. It was fantastic. When they showed up I said I said I was not paying for solar. And then they explained to me this thing that BG&E has, where they need more people and I don’t have to pay for anything. I have an all electric house which is electric-based for heat, and it’s expensive in the winter so I did it. The customer service team was very nice. They’re very helpful and got everything straightened out.
Putting in the solar panel of Vivint Solar went okay. But when I get my notification every month of how much it’s gonna be, I have not been able to figure out how to get an actual itemized copy of the bill. And I have an app, and I go on the site, and I get usage every day but I’m not seeing the pricing. I would like to have that breakdown just like I do at BG&E. Overall saving some money. Initially Vivint installed the maximum number of panels allowed by regulators, I think the regulations were to initially limit PG&E's loss of revenue from Vivint Solar vs. PG&E's grid. Later the law changed to allow a bigger share of solar to grid power, so Vivint came back and installed more panels, which lowered my expenses even more. Currently Solar feeds (credits energy to the grid) from Feb-Aug time frame, but I now get a shadow in winter afternoon's from the newly constructed two-story adjacent house and depend on PG&E's grid from Sept-Jan. Vivint handled sales, explanations about savings, permits, installation, and upgrades flawlessly at no cost to me, so I'm a happy camper.

I like that solar energy services help nature and I wanted to look at lower costs for electricity so I looked into it. Vivint Solar started the installation and I have been using it for a week or two now but so far, there are no complaints and the production is going fine. Everything went good when I enrolled with Vivint and the customer representative took me through the whole process, which was very easy. After I got the permission to operate, I turned on the solar equipment and it wasn’t working. I had to call the customer service, set up an appointment and they had to send somebody to my home. He looked at the whole thing and then figured out that something was on a standby mode and I didn’t know whether the person who installed it was supposed to keep it that way or not or it wasn’t part of the instructions.
Vivint should not be putting it on standby or if there is a reason that they have to, they should send an email to the customer on the instruction to finally turn it on and operate. Either they turn it on when they install it or they make instructions for activating it. It has to be spelled out or called out or as a step. It should be mentioned that if it’s still not working, you should check the standby mode and this is to be checked in. On a scale of difficulty from 1 to 10, it is somewhere 7 or 8 for a new customer. You have to go to the panel, go through the navigations, several steps in between, and then eventually look at the settings, and then turn it on or off. This is something that could be avoided happening to the other customers.

We have looked at solar before and the deal that the people were talking about made no sense at all. We’ve always been interested in solar energy and the main thing that appealed to us was lowering our bills. The past summer, our electric bills were going through the roof more and more. Over the years, we’ve put insulation in our attic and we got over it in the past years. We had changed out the windows on our house to make it more efficient. We’ve been upgrading our house constantly, but our electric bills with the heat of the summer were astronomical.
Then our Vivint Solar sales rep, Luis, was going door to door and knocked on the door. He has a very excellent personality. We started to talk about solar and it was the right timing for us to make the decision to do it. Luis has become a friend and he is superb. If I sent him a question, I got a response back within 10 to 20 minutes. Our neighbor got the panels also and it took months for him to get his final approval, but ours was approved in record time of less than two weeks. It became a busting point with Luis, but his follow-through was superb. The enrollment process with the program was easy. Every time we had questions, we got a hold of Vivint Solar and most of it was through Luis. We posed our question to him and he tracked it down then got back to us.
The only problem we had was during the installation. The guy who was in charge of the work crew never consulted us on one part of the installation and came through one of the front-facing walls of the house, with a pipe down the front of the house. It was not supposed to be installed that way. We went nuts and everything came to a stop. I was on the phone trying to get a hold of Luis and it turned that he was already on the phone with the builder because he saw the message and he ended up at our house within 15 to 20 minutes.
A supervisor was there within a half an hour, but the installers were almost done with the installation. It was almost like, “Take them off the house and get out of here.” It was that big a deal. It should have never been done that way and the guy who ran the pipe right down the front of the house said, “There’s no other way to do it.” He also said that there would be holes in the roof. The guy never consulted us, did it wrong, and was trying to cover for himself, so whoever was in charge of the work crew really blew it. But within 10 minutes, we have solved the problem and it was how it was supposed to be done in the first place.
The first month that we saw our numbers was December and it was the shortest month of the year. We’ve only seen one bill so far but our results will only get better because we did well even in the shortest month of the year. We’ve passed on Vivint Solar and my sister-in-law has the system on their house now too. They got 44 panels on their house. My ex-son-in-law is also signed up and he’s gonna be getting them. We’ve referred a few people and I’m still waiting to see if my daughter’s gonna sign up for it. So, I have recommended Vivint Solar and I still would definitely recommend them.
Thank you for leaving your feedback, Kenneth! We’re happy to hear that Luis did a great job and took good care of you. Thank you for doing business with us and we look forward to working with you more.

We knew Vivint's salesman from church. We talked to people whom we knew that he had worked with before about their experiences and then we decided to go ahead and get their system. Though the interactions with the team from here were okay, there were some mistakes made because of problems. Those had to do with the fact that we have a unit in our house and another in our RV. There were problems with them communicating with PG&E that caused the garage to be shut off completely. The food that we had in the freezer out there went bad. As a result, we had problems with the RV and it draining the batteries. That caused me a lot of frustration and the problem has never been addressed.
I took care of the situation and spent time on the phone with PG&E in order to get them to turn the unit back on. It took a couple of months before they got things straightened out so that the unit could be turned on correctly. That cost me money because of the work on the RV and the loss of the stuff in the freezer. Other than that, going solar has been okay and our system has been working well. It has cut down our bills between Vivint and PG&E. I was satisfied and I recommend them to other people.

We had always been interested in solar. We looked into it years ago and were told that our site was not appropriate. The people from Vivint Solar were able to overcome any obstacles and made it appropriate. So far, I’m seeing how much kilowatt-hours we’re getting from the panels and we're judging the cost ratios. We started in October where there's less sunlight and now, we get less than 12 hours of sunlight a day. Over the course of 12 months, we'll have a lot more data to judge. But so far, it’s making electricity. It appears that we’re making some, but not as much as they had promised. Basically, Vivint Solar overpromise and underdeliver.
Enrolling with them was more difficult than expected and more difficult than promised. There were lots of inconveniences in the installation. The installers were here for a day and a half. I had to be here because they were coming in and out of the house. They had one guy stationed in the attic and a couple of guys outside. They were going in and out in the basement and there was a fair amount of disturbance to our routine. So it was not as easy a fix as they projected. The installation took more than 10 hours. They couldn’t even complete it the first day so they had to come back the second day.
Their customer service was able to take care of all of my issues in terms of damages done. They were gonna pay me for damage created in the installation process and I told them that I don’t wanna hire somebody to do it. I was told that Vivint has contractors who would take care of any damage. They came around with their contractor and he was able to come in in one day and in a couple of hours, he fixed everything.

We’re very satisfied with going solar so far. They said even when the sun is not shining, it’s still producing. So, we’re happy about that.
Vivint's customer service has been very helpful. Even before we went live, we had questions about what was gonna happen when we go live. And the rep said, “Nothing. The company would come out, put the meter on, and then it would start producing from then.” So, we’re very happy with them. They call and check on us every once in a while. We would recommend it because we don’t have to do any maintenance. If something goes wrong, all I got to do is call them and they’ll come out and take care of the problem.

A very nice salesman from Vivint Solar came to my door and he talked me into going with them.
My experience in enrolling with Vivint Solar was very good. When I got solar energy on the pool, my energy bill was $300 a month, so I figured this was gonna be good. But I have one complaint. When the system was gonna be put in, they sent me an email. I had to turn the system on and take a little thing off of the machinery part on the side. But I'm a senior and I told them that I didn't wanna touch anything as I wasn't sure about what I was to be doing. I asked them if somebody could come out and help me, but they said no. But what if I didn't have a computer or the technological know-how to do that?
Then I had to leave and I was gone for a couple of months to take care of my mother in Santa Barbara. I told them to delay turning my solar energy system on until I got back, but maybe they did because I got an electricity bill and it was only $38. Although I wasn't there, I still run the pool every day. Before going solar, my electricity bill was usually from 86 to 90 whenever I left, so that bill that I got wasn't much. I'm going back there in January and then I'll know for sure if my solar energy system was turned on. I'm very satisfied with my decision to go solar. I would recommend Vivint Solar and in fact I have recommended to three people already to get their solar energy system.

Somebody from Vivint Solar came to my door and I was very apprehensive. But after talking to him, I had to have another meeting because I was intrigued. Considering the environment and saving money, I enrolled with them and it was a great experience. Most of my meetings with the representative that I met with was person-to-person and our interactions were very professional. The whole process was easy too. Exactly how they explained it to me was exactly how it happened. I was so impressed. There were no surprises as well. It took a little time, but that’s okay. I am absolutely thrilled to go solar. We’re in the middle of winter and my last month’s electric bill was $32 when it was usually about 150 to 180. I didn’t think I’d see a difference in the winter, so I was very happy. I would recommend that anybody with a decent roof and some sun should do it too. It's incredible.

We were slated to have our additional panels installed on 2/8/2018 and never hard from Vivint. I continuously called and got the run around/silent treatment for months until July when they wanted us to sign a new contract. I said no, and asked why since we had the original contract that stated work should have started on 2/8/2018. My rep was in his 'car' speaking with me and said he would call me back. Ironically when he called me back he had 'good news' the work would start in a few weeks no new contract needed. Ugh. They came out did the work and left.
A month goes by and we are notified that they panel configuration is wrong and they have to redo it, the entire time I am calling to check-in. No one at Vivint has ever called to give us an update during this entire process. Months later they came out to reconfigure the panels. Months pass I call again to see what the status is to have them turned on. It will be a few weeks before the inspector can come out to look at them. A few weeks pass Vivint and the county come out to review, it's denied.
I literally have had a system on our house that we cannot use all the meanwhile our bill is not being compensated because the new panel is not active. That means more money out of pocket at the end of the year. The first year we short 800 & and the second year about the same. I am sure we will owe again this year which pisses me off since we should have had an activated system by now. I call customer service and they can never find my account then they do find my account and no one can help me. It's ridiculous and Vivint should be ashamed of how they operate. I try to get a manager and I am ignored, I would not recommend this company to any consumer due to crappy customer service, incompetent & untrained staff, and overall dishonest practices.

I’ve always been interested in helping the environment and I heard that going solar was a little less expensive than the one with PNM. Also, I didn’t mind having pounds on my roof here. So, I decided to go solar. But it was not easy decision because I had been with PNM for a while and I never had any problems. When I dealt with Vivint Solar, everybody was really nice and everything went smoothly. As far as the installation, it went perfectly and the quality of their work and service has been above my expectations.
But I’ve seen some complaints about Vivint and I didn't like it. Plus, it came up on the newspaper that our attorney general was going to do something with Vivint and I was really upset there for a while for I already signed my contract. I thought about trying to stop it, but I didn’t know where on the contract and I didn’t have a lawyer. Other than that, I had no problems with Vivint Solar and I’ve been very satisfied with them. I've had the system for a while now and I got to work on it. The one thing is, I don’t have an account set up with them and I wanna get that started because right now, Vivint Solar has taken money from my checking account to pay for my bill. I wanna get that straightened out, so I can pay my bill online.

I'm all for saving the planet. But my husband is 80 and I'm in my late 70’s. I wasn’t gonna pay for anything for 20 years. So when the Vivint Solar representative explained to us that I wouldn’t have to pay anything upfront, just for the power I use, I was okay with that. I also called a friend who is in the solar business, but not in the sales-end, and I asked how he felt about it. He asked what company we were dealing with and when I said Vivint, he said they're fine.
Everybody that I've dealt with from Vivint has been more than accommodating and helpful. They explained everything, even the subcontractors who worked on the side of the house. I'm a very nosy person. I wanna know how everything works and they dealt with me without giving me the feeling of, “Oh, I wish she would go away.” Everybody was nice. Whatever they said they would do, they did. When they said they would show up, they showed up. On top of that, I've had only good experiences with their customer service. Whenever I called, there was a person on the phone. I didn’t have to push a million buttons and be on hold. Plus there was always a friendly English-speaking person on the line that understood what I was saying and I understood their answers. And so far, the system seems to be working fine.

We’d always wondered how to help out with the environment and change our carbon footprint. We thought about solar but never really considered it was something we could do because it seemed like it was gonna be too expensive to make it happen. The Vivint representative in our area came to our door and we started talking about the possibilities of working with our local utility company, and the grants were available. The hardest part was making the decision because the way it was presented, it’s like we were getting something for nothing. It took a long while that way, but the actual enrollment period was pretty easy. They handled things with our local township for the zoning stuff and with PECO, our electric company. It went much smoother than I thought it would be.
It's a little hard to understand how the bills get divided, but we end up paying less than we were paying for our electric overall. We live in the northeast and for every day of sunshine, we have two or three days of clouds. If we were elsewhere, we’d probably be saving a lot more money than we are now, but we’re doing okay. Everything has worked well so far and we're really satisfied with Vivint.

One of the reps from Vivint Solar was riding around and asked us about solar energy services. It was supposed to be cheaper than electrical and I’m satisfied about going solar. However, I’m dissatisfied since it’s not working and it’s not even turned on. I’ve tried to contact them six times and they’ve tried to call me back the same number of times. Every time I call and complain about it, they would tell me that they would get a representative to contact me. They said it has been approved. The last time was a month ago and that was the last I heard. I decided to call them in another two months.
Vivint Solar was quick to get it installed. When I came home, the electrician was just finishing up. He had all his equipment powered around the backdoor where our patio is. I want the equipment moved where it's not an eyesore around the backdoor. The last time the representative was here, he looked at it and he went through some stuff. He said he was gonna ask somebody to check into it. Again, nobody ever got back to us and my mom got a second bill now. Also, the last time I called, I couldn’t get in touch with them, from tech service to tech department. However, when I called in to say I wanted to be a new customer, somebody answered within three rings. I'm not satisfied with them at all and I'm not recommending Vivint Solar right now.

Original Review: We have had solar for several years now, 2 separate systems. We realized in Oct 18 one of the systems was not working properly for about 1 1/2 years. After months of back & forth Vivint gave us a small credit to our account. My electric bill has been increasing over the past 2 years and is now back up to where it was before I installed solar panels. So now I'm paying crazy electric rates and solar on top of that while my friends who have other solar companies with (with much larger homes) are seeing CREDITS to their electric bills. Vivint wants nothing to do with us. Don't answer emails, don't keep appointments, don't return phone calls. I have been interviewing new solar companies and they are all shocked at this. Especially that we are no longer seeing a savings. Go elsewhere!!!

Once Contract Signed I Became a Cipher! For those of you not of the British persuasion, a "cipher" = zero, nothing, nada, unimportant. The representative Tiara ** was a sweet young woman in Utah who dropped the ball entirely when it came to getting installation done. The day before I had cleared two days of my schedule as a psychologist seeing patients, to be at home for Vivint's installation. I received a message that the installation could not be done because there appeared to be cedar shingles on a portion of my roof. Now, the visual and physical inspection of my roof had been done months previously, and the day before they decide to alert me to a problem and then expect me to be at home (clearing more patients and sacrificing more income!) to meet with the roof improvement contractor - get serious!
When I attempted to reach out to deal with this on a Friday evening (right after the roofing contractor called me) I was unable to get any effective response from Vivint - it appears the company, a utility provider no less, goes to sleep at 7 PM Pacific time on weekends - what if there was a emergency with their equipment that needed to be fixed immediately, not three days later which is when Vivint finally got back to me? Irresponsible at best! Clearly, once contracts were signed, I became far less important to Vivint than I was when they were attempting to win my business. This, to me, was a clear indication that should something go wrong post-installation, I would be left out to dry! Buyer beware!

Vivint was door knocking for security systems and we purchased the security system from them outright. Then, we were mentioning to the sales rep that we were also interested in solar. And the sales rep for the alarm system put us in contact with the solar guy. We have been solar owners before, so it wasn’t our first go around with solar. We were looking at two other companies before Vivint came along. We let Vivint know that we were still window shopping, and they were really good with their pricing. They met the price for the one that we were thinking about going with. So, Vivint wasn’t the cheapest when we started, but they were willing to negotiate the price of the one that we were looking at. They didn’t put a whole lot of delays on us. They did what they said they were gonna do.
We had one little glitch with the installation and it was a chip in the receiver that they installed that they just needed to be upgraded. So, it wasn’t a big deal. Their customer service tried to help us on the phone, “Try this, try that, troubleshoot this.” And then when we did everything and realized it wasn’t something that we could do, they sent somebody out right away and scheduled somebody to come out and take a look at it. He was professional and it took him just minutes to diagnose what the problem was. And then when he fixed it and figured it out, we were up and running. Vivint gave us the credit for the power that we would have been producing. So, it was actually a good experience.
We've been live since August so we really haven’t been customers long enough to see huge difference in our chosen unit and how it would be since the installation but we have high expectation for the summer that it will make a difference. We felt fortunate because the people that we dealt with at Vivint were friendly. They were transparent. They shared information. They connected with us well as far as personalities and understanding what it was we were looking for. They treated us like real genuine people instead of just a customer, somebody they were selling to, which was nice. I’ve already made recommendations to people that they should give Vivint a call and give them a chance if they’re considering solar or a security system.
Hi Todd, We're glad that the team has been great and has been diligent in working on your system. Thank you for going solar with us!

Vivint informs me to call the electrical company. The electrical company informs me to call Vivint.
So far the only response I got from Vivint was "Someone can come look at the panels, however, there is a charge." I called the company yesterday to speak with the sales representative that sold my parents these panels. He no longer works there. Not only did I have to replace the roof - but, all the wood and the installation under it (I have videos of this if anyone wants to see!!). I will give the company this - they stepped up and paid me $5,000... BUT - I ended up replacing my whole roof - for $12,000 - and years earlier too than was necessary!! A roof should last 25 years - not 21. Thats another thing they don't tell you of course - solar panels will reduce the life of your roof too! Absolutely DO NOT GO WITH THEM!!! Everybody I know has solar and our power bills are really high. Brent, the Vivint rep who came door-to-door introduced me to Vivint Solar and he did the follow-up on this. I had the Vivint intrusion alarm system installed a few years ago and Brent came at the contract renewal, just checking out, and I was not happy with the comparative cost. So, he lowered it where it was comparable with another solar company that I was looking at, and then I renewed the contract. He came back at the starting point, so I was really satisfied. He has followed through in everything he told me he was gonna do.
What was difficult was knowing or having a close idea of what the difference in power cost would be for me. They could tell me the unit cost, but Edison wouldn’t let me look at my bill and Brent was not here when I called Edison and talked to an agent. We went through this whole process, and I never was able to get a definitive cost. I could get usage on a graph, but then we had to work hard at looking at the tiering. The Edison bill doesn’t tell you about the local cost and it only gives you a very generalized one. Besides that, I was on auto-pay, so I wasn’t able to look at the bill. I actually had to go to my bank to kinda figure it out. My bank, however, when I first called them, said they didn't know what I was talking about. Then when I talked to Edison, they told me I had to talk to my bank because our bill goes to them. So, it was crazy, but I eventually got it straightened out, although I still don’t know the difference in costs.
It was months from when I first spoke with Vivint about the panels up until it was installed and running. But I have no frame of reference to know what’s timely for solar panels because prior to the process, I have to deal with Edison coming out and inspecting. So the time frame was on other factors that may not be in Vivint’s control. Nevertheless, everybody that I dealt with in customer service was absolutely outstanding. The guys that did the installation are outstanding as well. It was really hot when they installed.
Whoever does the turning for customer service and interpersonal action is really doing a phenomenal job. I worked for the county and I did data analysis. Brent went through a lot of work with me because I wanted to see on the usage how that was gonna translate to the 20 cents a unit with solar. I wanted to see how it was gonna save me money, and he spent hours with me looking at and doing the calculations and snapshotting. We went into my Edison account, snapshotting and then going through and translating that. I’m retired, so I’m on a fixed income, and even the patience they showed was remarkable.
Thank you for leaving your feedback, Kaye! We’re happy to hear that Brent did a great job and took good care of you. Thank you for doing business with us and we look forward to working with you more.

Updated on 01/13/2019: I posted a review in mid December about my horrific experience with Vivint. To date, my issues have remained unresolved. It's always the same runaround -- I call customer service, am told that my concerns will be escalated to a supervisor who will call me back, and then I wait for a return call that never happens. To make matters worse, not only am I being expected to pay Vivint Solar's monthly bill (which is MORE than what is stated in my contract) I am still paying a full bill with PSEG.
The rep who visited our home and had us enroll in Vivint assured my husband and I that we would only pay $10-15 a month with PSEG -- another lie! I've posted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and just received an email to let me know that they have reached out to Vivint as well several times and have not heard back!!! Can you believe that a reputable company would not respond to a complaint presented by the BBB??? I can't believe that Vivint is still in business but I think it's just a matter of time before they get shut down for the scammers that they are.
Updated on 12/15/2018: I posted a negative review about Vivint Solar about a week ago. As soon as it was made public, I received phone calls and emails from Vivint apologizing for my bad experience (I guess companies really do read what consumers post on ConsumerAffairs). I spoke with two different Representatives -- one named Gloria Dawn ** and the other named Trenton **. Both agreed that I had been erroneously overcharged and assured me that they would correct the mistake and get back to me on or before Friday. Well, it is now Saturday and as before no one bothered to get back to me...not surprised...well the company can now come collect their solar panels from our city dump where they will be located. Buyer beware. Vivint is the biggest scam out there.
Original review: I was approached by a Vivint salesperson back in the summer who managed to convince my husband and I that going solar would be convenient and cost-effective. This particular individual was very skilled at his job and once we showed a bit of interest, he seized on the opportunity to go the full course and became very persistent. We made an appointment to discuss the solar plan further and he showed up with one of his managers who was equally suave and charming. Essentially we were promised the total package: great service, cheaper energy costs, and no hassles. So, of course, we were quick to sign on the dotted line.
While we were initially going thru the process of applying, the sales team was extremely friendly and would call and check in on us or shoot us a text if they could be of any help. As soon as we committed to a plan, everything came to a screeching halt. For example we were told that the process of obtaining a permit from the municipality will take about a month. After about two months of not hearing from anyone on Vivint end we touched base with one of the representatives and we're told that there was some sort of delay and it was very sorry that they did not let us know. So we went from being updated on every little step that was taking place to being completely in the dark that there was an issue with obtaining necessary permits.
Of course they were profusely apologetic but could not give us a reason why we were not told that the process would be taking longer than expected. When we first signed on we opted for a monthly billing plan where we would be paying about $150 a month year round. The first bill that was received was for about $160. I know it doesn't seem like a big difference but it made me upset to know that we contractually agreed on one price and were in fact being billed another.
I called up the customer service hotline and kept getting the runaround. I kept speaking to different Representatives who agreed with me that I should not have been charged the 160 but couldn't figure out what the issue was. I was told time and again that I receive a call back from a representative within a week or so and never got a single call. This happened on about three separate occasions. I am still in the process of trying to get this resolved but if I could turn back the hands of time I would have never agreed to go solar. At least not with Vivint. This company is run by nothing more than modern-day oil salesmen. I feel like I've been duped and I'm still waiting for resolution. At least with my prior electric company if I had any issue I can speak to someone knowledgeable and get my problem resolved immediately. There were also no surprise bills or added fees out of nowhere. I'm completely disappointed.

We were sucked in last year by Vivint Solar and their finance partner Mosaic. We were told utility bills would go down, no liens would be placed - exaggerated stories of world class customer service. Solar would add value to your home. Let me tell you first hand experience, if you finance your solar system with Vivint and Mosaic, you will have a lien placed, you will find out this fact only if you try to refinance or sell your home. Vivint will tell you that they did not place a lien on your home, but what they won’t tell you is that Mosaic will. Mosaic will finally own up to the lien, but they will tell you that it is on they system only, underwriter do not care if it is on your system only. A Lien is a Lien. Mosaic will give you the option of filling out a form to temporarily lift the lien, but it will cost you $250.00 to temporary release the hostage hold they have on you.
Vivint claims that the solar panels add value to your home if you purchase. They do not. Appraisers consider the equipment personal property and personal property does not add value to your home. Vivint has a nifty app which shows you how much solar you are producing and boy does it look good, This producing app does no good when you ask your energy company why you are not getting full credit for what Vivint says you are producing. Vivint will give you the runaround when questioned if there is a problem with your production, they will tell you it is your energy companies. Issue for the credit, when you go to your energy company, they will tell you it is a problem with your system reporting as they can not see what you are producing.
My experience with Vivint has been the worst. I can’t tell you what a bad decision it was to become one of their customers. All lies, double talk, no customer service unless emails, phone calls and unanswered texts constitutes their version of customer service. If Vivint comes calling at your door, run, run fast and hide in your darkest closet and wait for them to go away.

I bought a solar package earlier, but it doesn’t produce much electricity. So I started looking around, and the Vivint Solar salesman just came to the door at the right time. We had a hell of a time getting the city to sign up on this thing. When I want something done to my electrical box, we had to wait on that. Any time we had to make any changes, you’re not gonna see it for days and days. That caused almost a month’s delay. But then, I got it turned on and it was not Vivint's fault. The Vivint people that come to the house showed up when they were supposed to. I’ve recommended them to neighbors.
I haven’t had the system on a full month since PG&E said okay. But from the numbers that Vivint gave me for November, their system produced more electricity than PG&E charged me for. Even though I’m not using it very much, they’re still adding $105 a month charges to my true-up fee, and I don’t understand why. I know other people who’ve gotten the system, but they’re not getting that.

Initial contact was excellent, the sales consultant was very quick to reply and answer questions that I had. After the installation and we were given a go ahead to turn the system on was when things service stopped being excellent. They sent instructions to turn the system on that wasn't for the unit that was installed at my site, even though originally they told me they would just turn the system on remotely. Then when I asked for access to the SolarEdge, the inverter brand, monitoring portal they told me that wasn't possible.
After talking to SolarEdge support they told me that the installer had to create a user account for my site so that I could log in and look at the statistics of my production. After providing all the instructions and details that were shared to me from SolarEdge, Vivint still insisted this was not possible and continues to refuse to allow my access to a system that I own and they have been paid in full for. Was this is causing is the feeling that Vivint has something to hide in the true stats of my system. This is not encouraging from a customer point of view and based on this I would not recommend anyone that likes seeing how your system is performing to go with Vivint as their solar provider whether leasing or purchase a solar system.

Vivint Solar had cheaper rate and they were the only one who would install everything for free. All I have to do is the monthly payment for what it will produce. The Vivint agent came to my house a couple of times and then they sent three people to do the installation. They knew what they were doing, taking care of how they would go up my roof. After the installation, they painted all those conduits so that it would match the house. So far, it’s okay. Their installation was simple and it didn't have too many hassles. But when they installed the panel, there was a gap between the roof and the panel, so birds were going there. I already alerted them to put that animal protective screen. But they haven’t communicated with me when they are going to do that.

Vivint Solar came to my door. I already have the Vivint security system and just add the solar to it. The installers were really fast. They told me that it was gonna take at least two hours for them to put the system in. They came in and knocked that thing out. In under two hours, it was all hooked up and ready to go. I was blown away. Also, they had removed tiles from our roof and stacked it nice and neat in the back, next to my storage set. They did an awesome job. I also like their customer service, which is great. I'd tell friends to go for Vivint Solar.

I have had Vivint for well over 9 years. I pay every month never late. I have upgraded to all kinds of Thor stuff. I used to love this company until we had to move out of state and needed to cancel my contract. I was told I can not cancel my contract and no way around it, ok. I had to pull off the panel and all the sensors and fix all the holds in my walls before I moved. I had well over 20 sensors. In our rental we had Vivint come and put it all up. I gave the guy the panel and over 20 sensors to put up. He did his job all went well. One year later we bought a house and had to move again. I had Vivint come out and pull out all the equipment again.
Well apparently the rental house had a system in it and was already hard wired so the technician had taken all my sensors. The guy came to my new house with 2 sensors and a panel. I asked him where are all my sensors. He said there are none. It was all hard wired. I was on the phone with a manager for over one hour even the technician was getting mad at Vivint for not wanting to give me my equipment back. They wanted me to pay $20 a sensor again I would have needed 20 sensors. This company is a fraud. We need to get together and sue them for the misleading information they give us, the extra charges they charge us without our knowledge. Worst company I have ever had.

I had looked into getting solar energy services a couple of years ago with a different company since I wanted to save on my electric bill. However, I didn't like the idea and what they were offering. Then when an installer from Vivint Solar approached me and explained everything, I was sold. The gentleman was very friendly, professional and informative. Everything he said was true and he didn’t give me a line of crap at all.
Vivint Solar's customer service is sometimes pretty good. Sometimes, though, their reps are uninformed. When I went to turn my system on, one of them gave me the wrong directions, so my system did not produce electricity for three or four weeks. I was wondering why until finally I called them back and they had me check it. They said what I did was wrong and I told them that their person told me to do that. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with Vivint Solar. As a matter of fact, I've recommended them to several people. I've given people a salesman spiel that the salesman gave to me in which you pretty much save 40% over what your electricity provider charges you per kilowatt hour along with you’re not burning fossil fuels.

They were intelligent, upbeat, and I didn't feel like they were trying to talk me into anything or try to manipulate me in any way. They gave me a feeling that I could trust them. I was very happy with the sales staff and I was pretty impressed with the tech people as well.
Knowing other people who have gone with other solar companies, Vivint's execution of the installation was seamless and without any problems. So many people that I talked to who dealt with other various companies had issues, like they were told one thing but the company didn't deliver. But with Vivint, they did what they said they were gonna do exactly, and in the time that they said they would do it. So their level of competency is excellent. They're the best company that I came across.

I noticed that some of our neighbors had Vivint Solar. Then their sales representatives came to the door and they were very friendly. They explained the whole process very well and they did some analysis on how many panels might be needed on my house so that during the summertime when my bills are very high because I have refrigerated air, having solar would lower my bills substantially. After they did the analysis, they came back and showed me how many panels I needed. It was a very enjoyable process and I have really enjoyed my interactions with Vivint Solar.
Their sales representatives also helped me through all of the steps of getting my account set up and it was very easy. At this point, I am very pleased and very satisfied. Vivint Solar was doing some marketing in our neighborhood and the gentleman that came by our home explained the program. He was very friendly and he answered all our questions. He gave us some really interesting information then he explained what the savings would be and how much it would end up costing us. At the time, we weren’t in the market for solar energy services but we were kind of intrigued by how the whole thing worked and we ended up enrolling with them. It was easy but the process was really long. In the beginning, we did the paperwork. Then once all of that was complete, Vivint Solar did the rest. When the panels were up, they kept us informed every step of the way. They told us everything that they were gonna do and if somebody was gonna be there the next day. They would send us an email as well.
But once they did their part, they said that the next step was for Nevada Power to come and inspect the panels then put their meter in. We had to wait for Nevada Power to do that and that took a long time. After that, Vivint Solar sent us instructions on how to start the whole thing and how to turn the system on. But we thought we were gonna be up and running within a month after everything was in place. Instead, it took at least four months. Other than that, we’ve only gotten one bill from Vivint so far and it was for $4. It only covered the time that they turned the system on until the end of the period which consist of only a few days. Then when I got my Nevada Power bill, I had a $2 credit. All in all, Vivint Solar was very nice and very good. I’ve recommended them to some of my friends, too.

Our average pay plan was 145 and when my husband passed away, I had seven people move in with me. My power bill went quite high, so I considered going solar. Eric from Vivint came by one and he caught me on the right day, so I signed up with them. Their enrollment process was a little tough because originally our electric bill was in my husband and my name, and I had to get his name off. So, they had to do a whole new account. Then they had to go back and try and gather all the information from previous bills. Since that was under a different account number, it took a little extra time. Other than that, I had great interactions with Vivint Solar's rep, Michelle up in Utah, and when the panels were installed, the installers were in and out quickly. I’m also satisfied with the end result.
So far, I’m happy with my decision to go solar. The system has only been active for a month and a half and I’ve received a bill from Nevada Energy for 124 then I paid a bill for 29 to Vivint. So, I’d be saving $20, which was what they told me. But I called last week because I have a loose tile up there and it’s on the top, so that the wind could catch it very easily and whip it off. They said I would hear from someone but I have not.

So about 5 years ago my parents went solar with Vivint. Was a incredible experience and it saved them a ton of money. Long story short I bought my own house two years. 6 months in had a Vivint salesman come to my door and I decided you know what loved the experience when I lived at my parents let do it. The salesman swore a million times that the system would help pay for itself on top of saving me money on my electric bill. They were so easy to get in contact with through the whole process. Then my system was up and running for a few months and I was paying the same for my electric bills and now paying for solar panels. So at this point I'm losing money as I'm paying for the panels with my money.
The salesman said the money I save month plus the rebates would pay my system off in 5 to 7 years. What a lie. It's never going to pay for itself. The salesman no longer answers me nor does anyone at customer service. They all say they will get back to me and never do. I need more panels. But now they got my money they don't seem to care. Also my father has panels and they told him a few are not working properly. They were supposed to come out and work on his system and they never did nor reach out and make a effort to come out. A representative came into our area and sold us on Vivint Solar. Also, because we didn't have to buy it outright, we were attracted to it. Enrolling was good because the representative handled it all. We had to wait for an inordinate amount of time. We did 33 panels the first time, and we thought that took too long. And then, just lately, we've done 13 more and that went much quicker. We let them do what they needed to do and we stayed out of their way.
The service has been great. I called because our dashboard wasn't showing up, and it took three days and we had a service man out here on Tuesday, and he was excellent. He explained to me what to look for on my panels, and he checked all the panels. He found out that not only was our big array offline, but on the smaller array, only seven of the panels were working. So, he fixed them all and got everything back online. We definitely recommend Vivint to people. If you wanna buy your own system, that's up to you. But if you don't wanna buy and you wanna pay less than PG&E charges, Vivint is the way to go. We've told several friends about Vivint Solar, and they purchased and we got a refund.

My wife and I have been thinking about solar energy for quite some time and I heard of Vivint Solar. A sales rep went to my mom’s house and he was a lying, dishonest person. It took a lot of follow-up calls with him to figure out what’s going on and what the delay was. It was a long, drawn out process, unlike what I’m used to when I was getting it installed on some of the projects that I built for some of my clients. The installation crew was good but the follow-up was atrocious. I’ve tried to reach out to a manager to call me back about my experience, and no one’s called me back, so I’m not very pleased with it overall. On the sales and customer service side, Vivint can care less about customers. Right now, it’s a big push. Everyone’s buying solar, so they’re just taking up the money.
Nevertheless, when Edison came and changed over the meter, the guy spent some time educating me on how the meter works, so I can look at the actual Edison meter to see what it’s pushing on to the grid, when I’m consuming. I am able to see what I’m generating with my access to the app. I’m hoping within the next month, I will notice a change.
