I love Vivint Solar. I knew Vivint was a security company but I didn’t know about the solar part. I know the local rep that had joined Vivint Solar and was repping. I had looked into solar prior, but decided not to do anything. Then I sat with her and she explained a little bit more. It made more sense at this time, and I just moved forward. The rep was brand new. I did allow her some wiggle room because she didn’t know everything. We did things and, no, that was wrong and we had to redo it. Vivint Solar tries really hard to train their representatives to understand. But I think every situation is different and the things that I learned with the rep, she’s incorporated those things into her new questions and her new understanding of how they proceed. I think she’s gotten a lot better understanding of how long things take and the next step, and when I get copied in and when I don’t. But it was relatively easy. Mostly everything is electronic and DocuSign. It just takes forever here.
The system has only been on since April and going solar was the right thing to do even if I didn’t save anything. When I read the contract the first time, it didn’t stick in my mind that it was based on production, not use. So, I was a little confused for the first couple of months until I realized that it’s production. I called the company and they explained. They’ll do a true-up at the end of the year with how much I’ve produced versus how much I’ve used NV Energy.

Vivint Solar came to my house. The guy who was the salesman was real good. He looked at my bill. He broke it down for me and said what I would be saving, and that got me interested in solar energy services. To run my house, it’s $900 a month with electric and gas. However, the first 2 months weren’t good. I got a bill for $447 which was more than my bill last month of $127. They said it was a glitch that they didn’t send the month prior which I believe I did pay. But enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy and fast. The people and the work were great but the outcome so far isn't. I would like it if it worked out to where they said it would be like $200 a month.
Thank you for your review, Michael. We are happy to hear you had a good experience with the sales representative. If you have any concerns with your billing feel free to email us with your address and we can look into this for you.

My sister has solar and she's happy with it. She’s on the same street as me and although she doesn’t have Vivint, that was why I decided to look into solar energy services. Everything seemed to be real good with Vivint Solar during the enrollment. It just took some time with APS. But they've gotten it hooked up and we got our first bill the other day online. What I like about it is you don’t have to buy anything. You don’t have a contract. The rep also said we were gonna get a $500 check for that but we haven’t received that yet. I recommended my next-door neighbor and she signed up. That’s why I would get that.

I had been wanting to go solar, but cost-wise I couldn't afford it. Nonetheless, I went with Vivint Solar. It's probably now been a month that I've had the on switch and it has been great. All the installation was done in one day. The inspector came one day, made sure that it was safe and would work. And then another day, we scheduled to have it installed. Then the day of the inspection, they painted it to match the house. Everything seems to have gone very well. I would recommend them.

A friend was telling me about her experience with solar energy services. I would be paying less with solar than I would with Edison so, it sounded good. However, I’m wondering now if I did the right thing. I got the first bill for $12. I’m perplexed with the next one, which was for $133 because it wouldn’t be with Edison. I haven't experienced that at this time of the year. Nevertheless, the interaction with Vivint Solar's customer service was very good. If there was a problem, they solved it. They came through with that, so I was pleased.

I had a very good experience with Vivint Solar. I talked to a guy that placed my order. He is also my go-to-guy if I had any problems or questions. I was then set up with another gentleman to set up all the who's coming out and what I need. Then we scheduled a time and they were in and out in a day. I wasn't interested in spending $25,000 on a system and with them, they put it up for free. I just pay them my electric bill which is less than what I'm paying now. It's a win-win.

I bought this house a year ago and Vivint Solar came at the beginning, but I decided not to do it. A few of my friends had solar and they said it was a good thing and it saves you on light. Vivint Solar came again so I did it this year. Enrolling with them was good. There were a few steps but it went pretty fast. They said the installation of the panels was gonna take 8 hours, but they were done by 4. But now, I received the bill and it's wicked high. Now I understand about the way it works with the panels. They're saying that the more you have, the more your bill is gonna be, and I didn't know that. But I would recommend Vivint Solar. I wasn't too happy about the bill being so high, but I just started getting the bills. I don't know if next month is gonna be lower or what's gonna go on so that's the only concern that I have.

I have had Vivint Solar for 4 years. The first 3.5 years have been great. Well in March of 2019 I tried to log in to my system because it seemed as if my regular SDGE bill was higher than normal. I could not log into my account for some reason. So I called and spoke with someone on the phone and come to find out my system had not been reporting usage for over a month. Ok, no problem. Send someone out and let's get it fixed. Well after about 5 visits to my house and countless calls to customer service just to get an appointment, not to mention that every time I have an appointment I have to be home and there is always a 2 to 4 hour gap, they won't work on the solar unless someone is home.
Long story short it's June 17th 2019 and my solar still is not working. I've tried to make an appointment for the last week and half but apparently my case is escalated and now only a certain team can schedule the appointment. Great. Right! Well the service # you call into can't connect to this escalated team ever so they always say they are going to call back. Never happens.
Oh I almost forgot, Vivint is billing me every month on estimated use even though the system is not producing anything. They keep saying once we get it fixed we will correct the bill. Anyways almost half a year later I still don't have solar, I am getting billed for usage that I'm not getting, countless hours on the phone, appointments I need to wait for. I'm currently on hold waiting for a manager which I've asked for the past 3 calls but they always tell me

I would not go with this company. The sales guy came to the house and everything seemed great. Then he ghosted us for weeks. The sales guys kept saying, "Someone will get ahold of you", but no one ever did. Finally, we got ahold of the manager in charge of our case and scheduled a day to have the panels installed. May 13th the panels were installed, to find out the plans were changed, and no one told us about it. We were never given the blueprints of the panels either. The crew was disrespectful and left trash, metal and screwed everywhere including on my roof, which I had to climb on. The Mechanicville inspector came and said the boxes for the panels were not installed correct.
The Vivint Solar inspector said installing the boxes for the panels inside our garage was like “rolling the dice”. When we look at where everything was installed, it was done sloppy. They had more than enough room to install everything correctly. I spent hours on the phone with the company trying to figure out when to reschedule and what to do, first I was hung up on and then the gentleman on the phone said he couldn’t do much for me. They told me we had to wait until June 10th because they have no one available. We reschedule for June 13th and they never showed up. We started this process in March and it has been very stressful. The company story was, "Well I thought this person talked to you and we can’t help, that’s not our department."

So far, I’m happy with Vivint. Everything went smoothly. At the beginning, the guy just knocked on the door and he’s a really good salesman. He didn’t put any pressure on me at all or try to make more money. Like a lot of time they try to sell a big purchase, like 40K, and that’s something a lot of people can’t afford. He made the design suggestion based on a roof, like how many panels can be on a roof. And I could see that he wasn’t greedy like other salesmen, so I have to give him credit for that. And he kept coming back for following-up. Using solar the bill’s lower, but then I have another bill from solar.

I love the concept of solar panels and would recommend them – I would NOT however recommend this company. I promise is will be the biggest regret you have with your home.
1. Selling story + sales pitch: Not completely transparent.
2. Installation: Poor workmanship.
3. Loan company + Vivint Solar do not work well together therefore you spend COUNTLESS hours attempting to get to the bottom of things.
4. Vivint customer service is miserable to deal with and lack a basic understanding of their systems + processes.
5. IF you are selling your home, BEWARE: The two companies you will work with don’t speak to one another and therefore it took us 9 weeks to get this sorted out – we almost lost our buyer twice because of how awful this process was. We spent over 19 hours on the phone with both companies. We were lucky enough to have a 90 day close of this would have cost us every buyer we would have to deal with.
6. The loan company will begin charging you for the system even when it is not UP AND RUNNING. We actually lost all savings for two full years based on this, little secret they don’t tell you because Vivint is supposed to reimburse – they will fight you on this – it is mid-June and we are still fighting for overages we paid in February.
From the installation to the customer service and process of selling our home, this company was miserable to work with. Their customer service is horrible and very unaware of how their sales team is pitching the product/services/processes in the field. When we were sold the system, at no point was a lien against our home mentioned but once we moved forward we agreed to deal with this misrepresentation. The installation was not done well and therefore we did not pass inspection on two occasions.
Keep in mind the loan and the solar panels are with two separate companies who do not care to interact with one another so we started paying our monthly loan amount even though the system was not up and running because of workmanship. We have been pleading with Vivint to reimburse us for those months that the system was not running but they believe because we paid the bill one day after the system began running – this doesn’t even make sense as you pay in the rear… ridiculous.
When we put our house on the market, we were lucky enough to have a 90 day close, thank goodness or we would have lost any buyer we came in contact with. I reached out to Vivint + Loanpal 10 weeks out and didn’t actually get an answer from anyone (after 15 hours of phone calls) for 6 weeks – everything was “we will let you know in 72 hours.”
At one point, on two occasions our buyer was going to walk as they didn’t want to work with these companies. They don’t speak to one another and refuse to move forward until the other has – nightmare and incredible stressful process. I can't imagine we are the first family to sell their home but you wouldn’t know that with the way we were treated. I understand at times companies have hiccups here or there – from start to finish this company has been by far, the worst company I have ever worked with. We regretted this decision within weeks of installation. Solar is an incredible concept, look at other local companies. PLEASE! Learn from our mistakes.

My son had an appointment with someone from Vivint Solar so I went over to his house and listened. I liked what the salesperson had to say and I was very intrigued about it. The more I thought about it, I wanted to try it because I’ve always been interested in an alternative source of energy. However, it took 4 months for me to go live. I signed up at the end of November and they put the panels on my house at the end of December. It was during the winter months, so it was a little touchy about getting people out here to do what they needed to do. Then, I needed to have it inspected by the city and my current electric company. It took a little longer than I expected because the city inspector dropped the ball a little bit. I kind of did my own reconnaissance and was able to get it put on. I went live in mid-April.
Customer service was very helpful. I called a few times because I wanted to find out why it was taking so long to become active. But once everything got ironed out, they were here. They turned me on, and so far, I’ve been pleased. Vivint Solar could be a little more on top of their customers’ accounts to see what might be taking a little longer than possible. Otherwise, I’ve had no other issues with them.

I am satisfied that I went solar. I wanted to save money and Vivint Solar was recommended to me. I haven't saved any money yet though. It takes time to build up sun or something. Also, customer service was quick but I didn't like the fact that the original salesperson never interacted with me after the first day. I waited for almost six to eight months for someone to come up. It took too long that I was about to go to another service.

I had a solar years ago, in the ‘90s, but it was for a swimming pool and I know how well it worked with my pool. But when Vivint Solar came to my door, I wasn't interested. The only reason I listened to them was because I had had Vivint Home Security for about three years and I knew that I like it. At this point, I’m satisfied with the decision to get solar but I’m not really satisfied with the process.
When the salesman was here, I told him I know what solar does. But I asked him what the benefit was and what I was expected to get from Vivint Solar. They did tell me but I also told them that when this is all finished, I need someone to come to me and show me what I need to know about the operation, if there's anything, and what I should expect my bill to be. He somewhat told me what it should be but I’m still in the dark.
It was not only that. It also took forever for them to install it and although that was okay, no one kept me informed. No one called after the salesman left and said what was happening. He called one time but it was a hold-up because it took about five months. On top of that, Vivint Solar had left a folder with all of the plans outside somewhere around the side of the house and this Vegas wind blew over. My neighbor brought the paperwork over and said it had my name and all my information so he knew it was mine. When I told Vivint Solar about it, it was no big deal. They said they usually leave that out there for the inspector. But I didn't like that. Why was my business being left out there? Why would they leave it out there? Why wouldn't they give it to me and have me give it to them? That’s what one should do. They never did pick up the paperwork too. I was told to just leave it. So that was confusing.
I can understand there could be problems. They had a little problem with getting the solar approved and they had to keep coming back and adjust. That is cool but no one even informed me of anything. The only thing I know is they knock on the door when you’re out of your door and that’s when they’ll let you know. I don’t even know what I’m looking at. I know there’s solar on the roof and that the panel box is on the side. They gave me instructions on how to turn it on. But I wasn’t even sure whether I was turning it on all right. Finally, someone called and said they checked the area and that it was right.
I understand a part of it. It was explained that they have to make adjustments. A guy lives in the corner here and I see he has solar but he's got a bunch of panels. I asked why I had such few when I have all these people here and they said it depends on the household and what we use. So I understand that and they’ll make adjustments as we go through. But I hate when they tell you something then you don’t see them anymore. He also gave me his card to call but I never get an answer. I wasn’t satisfied with the process of keeping me informed and still being in the dark. I’ve sent emails explaining I wasn’t sure what was supposed to happen and I didn't get a response. I don’t like not fully understanding what my money is doing or what we’re supposed to be doing.
I also called and inquired about my bill as to what I was being charged. I wasn’t sure whether Vivint Solar was keeping track of the cost and what I was producing. I don’t know what I’m supposed to produce. Are they keeping track to know for sure I have enough panels? My bill on electric did go down to $68, which was very pleasing because it would've been more than that, at least $100 before the air is on. I’ve got two electric bills and they’re roundabout the same. The other one is a couple of dollars cheaper. What Vivint Solar charged me was 80 some dollars and when I add the two bills together, it comes to about $150, which is good. It is a reduction. But I asked whether Vivint would be charging me the same thing every month and I was told no. They're taking it out automatically and I don’t understand what to expect and what exactly should be coming out.
I want to know what I should be looking for from them every month and what it should be producing to show me what I should get from the electric company. The only thing I heard was that they were gonna be charging me $15. That probably comes down the line because they have to make adjustments to make sure that I have enough panels. But I’m feeling like I’m in the dark and no one is really addressing it. I called and the rep sent me a sample copy of the bill. But she said it was not really a bill.

My neighbor mentioned that he thought Vivint Solar was a good program and got me interested. So I got the card for the rep, Tony. I talked to him and he did such a good job explaining things to me that I was bitten by the bug right away. Before that, I never really considered solar energy because I didn't wanna have that kind of cash outlay at my age. I didn't see any payback either. I looked into some rentals but I understand that there were some problems with solar activity so I abandoned it and figured I'm just gonna have to pay the high electric bills. When I talked to Tony, everything changed. He convinced me that there is absolutely no cost to the homeowner – not to the mortgage or the property taxes – that sold me completely.
I'm very satisfied with my decision to go solar. I already got my first bill and I could see the savings immediately. The only thing is that I've had a little anxiety with the communication. It has been really poor when I've tried to call the office. In a couple of times, there was a long wait time and then I got disconnected. Then another time, I got connected and the rep was gonna research something for me but then we got disconnected. When I called a third time, the music was playing and I kept getting, "We like your call. We'll call you back." The system is a little screwed up so that needs attention. But I like the communication by email and with my representative. Those are perfect.

I am being screwed over by Vivint Solar for the 2nd time in 3 years. The first time, one of their useless agents delayed our install by 3 months, and when we fired him and asked for a new one, he started stalking our home and leaving letters in our mailbox asking us to not get him in trouble. I reached out to the Vivint executive team, and they gave us discounts to keep us from calling the police or filing a lawsuit. Now, they have successfully blocked the sale of our home, and the purchase of a new home, a process we have been working 6 months to complete. Vivint's predatory and unclear contract language is the ONLY REASON we are not able to move forward with these transactions.
Don't believe anything they try to sell you, they will lie through their teeth every step of the way, and are unwilling to work with you. If you sell your home to someone who does not want the panels, they will NOT remove them for a simple $500 fee, and they will NOT transfer them unless your utility company at your new home matches your old home, and this policy will NOT be clearly stated in your contract. I have spent hours on the phone (mostly on hold) with the Vivint team, and have reached out again to the executive team, and have had 0 response. Stay far away from this company. I regret signing their contract more than any other mistake I've made in my entire life.

I have a big concern about the service. Most of the people that I've encountered at Goshen and Visalia, California are good people. Every time that I call them, they answer me very fast. The hard thing is when I call Vivint Solar directly. That’s hard. I have to wait for hours in order to get somebody to get help. Another thing that’s too hard for me and for most of the people that I know is that most of the information that they have is via emails. I have five properties that have the panels right now and most of my tenants don’t pay the bills because they don’t know how to handle the emails.
If this company can make the bills and send them by mail, that will be perfect for everybody. That will be the best thing that they can do. They can solve about 80% percent of their problem. I also really hope that the company makes it more easy to make a contact. If this company can handle those things that we need, they're going to make a lot of people happy and they can get more business.

Vivint team never mentioned the extreme bird problem we could (and have) had with our solar panels. There was nothing installed to keep birds out from nesting under and around all the solar panels. Our yards are littered with piles of bird feces every day (this is not an exaggeration!). When we attempted to contacted Vivint, no one would call us back then we were told to hire someone to enclose the panels (for $1500 +). Shouldn’t this be part of the package?!? Vivint’s customer service has not been helpful and are very difficult to get a hold of. Very frustrating! I wish I would have used another company who takes care of the potential bird disaster upfront as a standard practice, not an extra nightmare for the consumer.

Ongoing nightmare with this company (Vivint Solar). I was in the midst of moving to new home. Vivint salesman came knocking. Because no gas line I agreed to go solar. Tip to other consumers; think twice before going solar. Once panel is installed, you will not be able to take it off due to the agreement you signed. The company will also claim that they provided energy based on their ESTIMATE without accurate meter reading. The device may work but on and off. Never set up auto pay if they give option. I would rather deal with public utility company. At least they are transparent than being robbed blind.

I was approached in a Home Depot by a Vivint rep. He asked if I wanted a free estimate. I agreed. He asked for my driver's license for ID and to get my address. I provided and he then used my license to access my SSN and ran my credit. I did not know you could access anyone's SSN with their license. He NEVER advised me he was accessing my SSN and running my credit and he did not ask for consent to do so. I would never have allowed anyone to run my credit to schedule an appointment but that choice was taken from me. BEWARE of their sales tactics!!

Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy but I don’t like everything on that internet thing. I told the rep, Jeff, to drop me off a hard copy of the contract. He brought it to me and left it in the mailbox. He told me a couple of times he was gonna come and he never showed up and never called. I waited all day for him to come here that day last week. And then the next day, my husband said the contract was in the mailbox.
I don’t know when the service is supposed to start. They told us that they were gonna send a superintendent out to check the panels after they were put in. Nobody ever came. The meter people were supposed to come after that. The meter man came, but the superintendent never came to make sure the electric and everything was put in right, the way they told me they were gonna have it checked. I was calling Jeff but he never returned my phone call for two or three weeks. At the very beginning, he was here all the time. I finally got him, and he was supposed to come over. I asked for some information and he doesn’t even call me. I can’t reach him by phone because I don’t have text.

The sales guy from Vivint Solar was good to work with. I signed up with him and got quotes. Once I agreed to the terms, they went ahead. The installation took a long time 'cause of the permit. It took almost six months. Going solar makes sense in the long term but Vivint could do better by giving easier comparison or more comparison to other options. It was kinda hard to compare all the different options and trying to figure out what size to get. Every company is a little bit different and there are different panels. It's kinda hard to decide what to actually choose. In the end, you gotta somehow move forward and hope it works out.

When someone from Vivint Solar came to my home, I was already interested and curious about solar energy services, so I jumped on it. The enrollment process was easy and simple. My interactions with their reps have been good so far. I had the system turned on a month ago and have had two Dominion bills since. I haven't seen a difference in the bill yet, but Vivint told me to give it one more month and I should start seeing a drastic reduction in my Dominion. I'm hoping that’s true, otherwise, I'd be pretty pissed off.

There was a Vivint Solar salesperson walking around the neighborhood knocking on doors, and he happened to knock on our door. We were considering solar energy before then and the way it was presented, it sounded like a good deal. The rep made it sound like Vivint Solar was just taking over as the distribution company and that we were paying our bill to them instead of PECO, but I later found out that the money that we’re paying is actually to lease the panels. The sales rep always responded when we had questions and he came by during each step of the process to make sure everything was going well and answered all of our questions. So, it was a good experience.
The installation went smoothly. The guys showed up on time and they were quick. It was done in half a day or so. However, by the time they installed it, we had to wait for someone to inspect the work and then, we had to wait for PECO to do the interchange and that took a few months to happen. I’ve had solar for only a month. The installation was in the wintertime but it didn’t get turned on until late spring. I'm happy as long as when the 20-year term ends, it’s not a headache and that it’s as easy as they say. We can just decide whether or not we wanna buy them or give them back though I wasn’t clear about that transaction, or even how much they think it would cost to buy them out. He couldn’t give me an estimate, which was a little weird. Still, being solar is saving money and I’m glad we made this decision because everyone has been trying to move to cleaner energy now.

I tried different people who would do solar, and they couldn't do my house because I don't have an attic. Vivint Solar was the only one who was able to work with my situation. So, I loved that part, and the system is working. Once it was finished in here, I had to get it approved by the electric company in my area. But it took forever to get it approved. Since the electricians put the system up on my roof, it leaks when it is raining. I reported this a month ago and I still haven't heard from anybody yet. So it is hard to reach and communicate with them.

I was at my brother-in-law's house who passed away and it needed a new roof. A gentleman from Vivint Solar stopped and talked to me about it. I told him that he couldn’t do that house but he could come and see mine. He came to see ours and it worked out that we were in a good spot for solar. The biggest thing about installing the solar panels was getting a new roof. Also, I was interested in solar energy services to save on electricity. When everything has been said and done, I'm gonna be saving minimally compared to the electric company until the system's paid for but after that, it's almost free.
Enrolling for the service was all electronic. The rep filled out most of the information. There were some documents back and forth that I had to send electronically, but that all worked out fine. Somebody left their company and that delayed the installation. My file got set aside for a month or two. The girl who picked it up finished what she needed right away and it was fine after that. Both the roof crew and the installation crew did a nice job and cleaned up well. They tried to make it look as good as possible on our house and the solar panels are producing right about what I use at the moment. We had a lot of cloudy days this month though.
The solar has been operating for a month and I've got a $34 credit with National Grid. I didn't have to pay them anything this month. I haven't got my first bill from Vivint but it seems like it's gonna be very similar or a little bit cheaper than what I was paying to National Grid. So, I'm saving money monthly and I'm developing a credit. However, I'm paying 21 cents per kilowatt and if I overproduced electricity, even though I get a credit into National Grid, they're not crediting me 21 cents. Their credit is 12 cents a kilowatt. So, if I'm overproducing electricity, it may not be the best deal and there could be a loss there. I’m wondering if on certain days, I should shut the system off if I overproduce since I'm paying more than I should. For the environment, it's good that I overproduce but I'm paying Vivint for everything I produce. So, that's my money. Still, I’m satisfied right now and I've had a good experience.
Hi Daniel. We are happy to hear that going solar has been a positive experience for you. We look forward to you seeing the benefits of solar.

We had a sales rep, James, come to the door. He told us about Vivint Solar. Part of his explanation is the fact that we would be able to save money which was a key factor. Contributing to going green is good too. My husband and I both talked and thought it was great idea. They came out within days and set this thing up. I’m satisfied with going solar, per se but dealing with this and trying to get it started and going was an absolute nightmare. We waited and waited and waited for when this thing was gonna get started. I understand there was a lot of red tape. They have to go through Duke Energy and transfer over. Somebody came to the house and my husband was outside when that person came. He said, “Okay. You guys are a go.” We figured it was a go, but it wasn’t. Something had to be done to make it a go. But we didn’t know that and we didn’t hear about it. That was kind of frustrating.
I got a bill from Vivint for $105 which they told me I would get. But I also got a bill from Duke Energy for 130 bucks. This isn’t right. I’m paying Vivint and I’m also paying Duke Energy. This will put me in the poor house. So, I called the customer service department and I talked to this gal. She told me I'm gonna get 2 bills. I said, “No, wait. I understand that I will get a bill from Duke Energy which according to James could be up to $10 or so.” I have this electrical contract or warranty thing with Duke Energy, so I realize that’s gonna be on there, but not that I’m paying both. The rep said apparently, my solar was not picking up enough to cover it. I said, “I have 26 panels on my roof. What are you talking about I don’t have enough?” I asked her to let me talk to her supervisor and she said there was nobody there to talk to. I asked for a name of somebody that I could call back and ask for and she said she couldn't do that.
So, my blood pressure was just raising and raising thinking I’ve got these two bills and this girl was telling me it was what it was gonna be like for a year. This wasn’t what James told me. I called James and got no response. It went to voicemail. The time he called me back, I had finally got it worked out. The girl left and came back on the phone. She asked if our solar was working. I said told her I assumed so. Somebody came in and said we were good to go. I asked her how was I supposed to know it was working. She asked me to go out to the meter and take a look.
I just had knee surgery and I was out there trying to climb over some stuff that my husband kinda put in the front and me moving it. Apparently, the solar wasn’t working. You had to do this and switch this and switch that. And she said we should be good to go. I asked her what are we gonna do about the two bills we’ve got. She said they'll credit it. I told her my daughter’s probably in the same boat and she doesn’t know what’s going on. I told her I referred her, but I’ve not heard anything. She said they were gonna send me 250 bucks because I referred somebody. I’ve never seen the 250 bucks.
This thing went about two weeks ago. It was so frustrating, and I don’t think it needed to happen that way. They should’ve called me. They finally sent an email with something attached saying what I need to get my solar up and running. This was after I went through all the steps with this girl on the phone. It was a little late for them to be doing that. It’s like the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. As far as the account goes, I can watch it and see how much it’s putting out. It’s great. It’s gonna be super. So, in that respect, I’d have to give it a 10 as far as going solar. As far as dealing with Vivint Solar's customer service department, I’d have to give it a 5. I have to commend the workers though. They flew them in from LA ‘cause they couldn’t keep up with the people that they had. These guys worked from beginning to end without taking a break out in that hot sun.

There was representative from Vivint Solar walking through the street and he caught me in front of my house. He asked if I was interested in solar. We were generally interested in solar, so it seemed like a good offer at the time and we went with it. However, it could be a little clearer on how the process works as far as paying Vivint and then in turn, paying the electrical company. It wasn’t all too clear to me until I got some documentation well after the enrollment period on how it would work but overall, we’ll be okay. The enrollment process was simple but it was a little drawn-out. So, it made it difficult to make a decision on keeping the company or cancelling on the process. So, the actual sign-up period was fine but it took a while for things to get in motion and to get going.

I'm very satisfied going solar at this point in time. I worked with the sales agent and I had no issues at all. He told me when people would be here and they were here. When they put it up, they did a very safe condition and kind of enclosed the area with a construction tape making sure nobody would get into it. They did a very clean job.
I was told from the point in time that I signed the contract that it could be as much as three months before they work on the installation. Once that’s done, it’s within a month, which is exactly what happened. The only thing that I was a little upset about was when the electrical company came, they sent me an email that said, “Okay, you’re fine.” But nobody sent me an email saying, “All right, you can turn on your solar system.” I found out that I could turn everything on when I got to a point where I wasn’t getting any emails and this was about three weeks after they came in.
Vivint Solar has the power purchase option. I was concerned that if the solar panels weren’t working properly and I was paying a monthly fee, I could be paying a monthly fee for a solar panel that’s not producing power. As far as the solar company is concerned in that case, they wouldn’t be rushed to come and fix my unit because they’re still getting their revenue from me. The case with Vivint is as I produce the product, I pay the product. When I had an internet issue over here which was their original network didn’t work, they got involved in another service and they hooked me up over here which I would thought they would do because we did the power purchase option.
The nice part about Vivint is when I researched it, the original units had to have a wire connection from practically every one on the panel. That means there’d be numerous holes in your roof. There is a confusion in the fact that the people say that there’s an issue with solar ‘cause they put so many holes in your roof. What sold me on this concept was there’s only one hole because there are units that are intelligent now that will take all the information into a controller on the roof, then send that information down to another controller. They’re called optimizers.

The guy from Vivint Solar came to my door and the guy behind us has the same company, so he recommended them. We’ve been considering solar energy for a few years and I’m happy with the decision to go solar. The representative was nice and we got on well. He went out of his way to help. The people who brought it and put it up were great. They didn’t leave a mess and they were on time. However, the customer service would answer then hang up on you. They would put you on hold and then hang up. So, I have a problem with them.
Customer service has been no good to me and it doesn’t work here in California. I was not happy with them at all. They were always in a rush and they were the ones telling me to go through the website. The website was not answering questions and customer service was supposed to have those answers. I wasn’t upset and I was telling the guy that did it that if it wasn’t for him, I would’ve had them come and take them off. I don’t go through customer service but I go through the rep. I try not to bother him because he’s busy but for now, we don’t have anything. If not, I would email Shannon and she would call me back.
I was upset because the payments came in and I wasn’t being confirmed that it was gonna be an automatic withdraw. I didn’t wanna be late because I’m not like that and they weren’t able to answer any of my questions. So, I had to go and buzz the guy over and over it. There was no need for that when customer service should have that information. I would recommend Vivint Solar but it is hard to get people referrals because most of my family is out of state and a few friends that I have, they already have solar. I told my neighbor about Vivint Solar but people are scared of being scammed because the HERO Program screwed a lot of people over. So, people now are hesitant to believe anybody.

My neighbor across the street put solar in his house. Then when we were out in the front yard, I queried him about who he got it from and how much it costed him. He told me about Vivint Solar and that it cost him nothing. I still didn't quite understand how it worked. Then Ryan, a freelancer that represented a couple of different companies, showed up at my door and was selling Vivint Solar. I began talking to him about that and the deal where there would be no out-of-pocket expense appealed to me.
We went through the process. There are certain conditions that a client has to meet and an agreement to sign in order to sign up for the deal. It took at least three months for them to design the system and send somebody to come out and survey it. Then it took two trips for that because the guy had an equipment problem. We finally got around to deal to where I qualified and I was interested. So we signed all the papers and they came out with a crew of three people and installed the system. The permitting process took some time. There was initial permitting through the local power company and then another one from the county billing inspection department. Finally, we got through that. And it has been working for two months now.
There's only two living in my house, the wife and I. And Vivint Solar determined that the 13 panels would produce enough power for the two of us. The solar system doesn't work at night, so we use the local power. Then in the daytime, it produces more power that we use and it goes into a bank and the power company keeps a record of that. Then you build up credit over time, which is used against what you use from them and they balance it out. The first month's bill was great. I owed the power company $6.86 but I owed Vivint Solar $54. It was about $60 in total. On an average, my bill at the time was $93. So that's about $30 a month in reduction on what I was paying for the power. I still have a bill from the local power company, but it's more about records and the amount of power that's being generated and used.
I love Ryan because he is a neighborhood kid. He went to high school here three blocks down the street. One time, he told me that he was gonna come and show me how to hook that system into my computer so I could monitor its performance and activities. But he has never done that. He said he was gonna do it a couple of times, but he never did. Also, my neighbor next door to me is interested and the guy hasn't come back and contacted him. I'm dissatisfied that they haven't gotten back to me. I'm not getting a response to this business of getting in touch with the people that I know that would be interested in this program. There's not enough follow-up.
In addition to not hearing from Ryan, I haven't heard much from Vivint Solar. There are so many agencies involved and that's the reason it takes as long as it takes. So the follow-up with all these activities that have to happen, Vivint Solar doesn't have any control over. They're patient, but the client is not too patient. And I don't understand why it takes so long.
I also would like to see an organized company in uniform or at least in a uniform shirt that says Vivint Solar on it. They came out here and got blue jeans and cowboy boots. Also, the vehicles that they come out in don't have Vivint on the side so that neighbors can see what company it is. Vivint has a product that they should be proud of, and their workers should be proud to work for them. But to date, I'm satisfied with the cost and the payment result with Vivint Solar.
Hi Johnny, thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that Ryan took good care of you. Thanks for going solar with us!

We had been thinking about getting solar for a while, and John and his partner Corey came by. We sat and listened to their presentation and decided that we would go with Vivint. It took a while for the process to complete but overall, we’re satisfied with it. I talk to John periodically. He calls at least once a month to check in with me. I have the literature that they provided me with about the company. And periodically, I review it to see if there’s anything I don’t understand. So far, so good.
We’re yet to see those savings because of the way it works, but I’m sure that that’s gonna come. The way it was explained to me is that the more energy that the solar produces, the more we pay for that month. But when the lower months production arrive, then it equals out. Our bill is right on track with what we figured it would be as far as knowing what was explained to us. We’re waiting for those low energy months to see how it comes out. I wanna see what the end results are over a few months when the heat goes up and where we have to start using air conditioning. I also wanna see when the months come along that it’s not producing as much. I’ve already gotten some folks that are interested, but they wanna see how it turns out for us. Hopefully, I’ll have some referrals for Vivint and we’ll see what happens.

Overall, I’m happy with going solar. The only thing that really threw me through a loop is the way that the Vivint Solar program works. When the guy was doing his sales pitch, for some reason, my mind was stuck on a traditional utilities type of billing. But what it is in fact is that they put the solar panels on the roof and you’re not being billed for the power that you use. You’re being billed for the power that you produce. That means that the sunnier it is, the higher your bill is gonna be. It just seemed backwards. But I did call customer service and I did understand their explanation.
Basically, it smooths out the peaks and valleys for the course of a year. You can't look at it according to what one month cost. It’s through the course of the year, how your panels produce electricity and what your usage is through a season. It makes your total utility outlay much more even, rather than spiking in the summer when the air conditioning’s running 24/7. So at this point, it's not actually saving money because I’ve only had it for a couple of months. At least, this is my impression. The program has more of an annual focus rather than a month by month by month.
On the other hand, the enrollment was super easy. The guy took care of everything. If something needed to be done, he’d either give me a call or show up on my doorstep at about 5:30 in the afternoon and tell me what was going on. I had to sign some papers, disclosure forms and all kinds of weird stuff but overall, it was fine. He was also always soft selling us stuff though. He was saying something would come through in the next week, blah, blah, blah. But in fact, the overall time period stretched out more. I understand that he’s a salesman though, and this is what salesmen have to do. It just didn’t happen as fast as he’d said but that was also because of permits and that’s not necessarily Vivint’s performance. There are city inspections that had to be done.
Thank you for leaving your feedback, James. We are glad that you had a positive experience with us. I am sorry that we did not explain the way that billing works very well at the beginning, but I am glad we were able to give you a satisfactory explanation. When I enrolled with Vivint Solar, things were well explained, and I had some issues that were addressed and did well. The installation was done very professionally and I‘m fortunate that the solar panels don’t show from the front of the house. It also seems to be an operating system that doesn’t need any care which is a good thing. I’m satisfied with going solar and I would recommend Vivint.

It was easy to enroll with Vivint Solar. The gentleman who came out was very informative. My wife and I listened and he answered our questions. But, the process took over a year. It was more of a problem with the inspectors and things like that. Other than that, the people that I’ve dealt with were all great, and forthcoming, and they explained step-by-step. They were very patient and professional. Now, I’m just waiting to see how it reflects on my bill. But as far as the installation and all that, it went very well. They're very good.

My neighbor had solar panels from Vivint Solar installed on his roof. I had already entertained a prior company before Vivint and I got a quote and everything from them. They were very inadequate so I went with Vivint. Vivint was the better product. The first company wanted to put 9 panels on my roof and Vivint put 36. I was a little blown away by that. I was very happy to see that.
The customer service was great but their sales reps can stress a little more that it takes quite a bit of time to go solar. We started in November and I got turned on on April 1st. Looking back, it ain’t that bad but I thought it would happen just a little bit sooner than that. But I don’t look at that as a negative. It takes what it takes. Papers gotta be pushed. They go from office to office and I get it.
I’m very satisfied now but a little scared about the future. I see what’s happening now. I went from a $260 electric bill to $12. That was during a rainy, not-a-lot-of-sunshine April. So, now, May was rainy also, but a little bit sunnier, so I’m curious to see what my bill is this month. I’m just a little nervous about what’s gonna happen in December when the sun isn’t out there. Is it gonna bounce out? Am I gonna come ahead? But I would absolutely recommend this product. If the consumer can get enough panels up there, it’s better. I’m looking forward to reversing the grid, put some power back into the system and start getting the negatives.

Austin came by and with his tutorial, getting solar energy services sounded like a good thing. The enrolling process with Vivint Solar was an easy thing. But it took a while to get going. There was a thing with permits and scheduling a day to have it done, and the weather didn’t cooperate with us one time. Then there was something else that came up. I had another contractor here, siding the house, and he had to do what he was doing before the installation team could actually start putting their stuff on the side of the house. It's not on the roof but on the side. So it was a little bit of a bump in the road as far as the actual start of the installation.
Then after the installation, the inspections and the electrician coming out here to have the electrical inspector from town, there was a little hiccup with a grounding issue. A lot of time went by before I was actually certified to be up and running and online. But as far as the installation is concerned, that was impressive. They had a crew of guys out here and they worked as a bucket brigade. It was nonstop and they were done within a day. It looked like an army of ants working on the roof of this house and getting the solar panels up there.
We got a bill maybe a week ago and we actually have a credit with National Grid. For like half a month, we were experiencing nothing but rain so the sunshine was at a shortage and we still managed to pull off a $104 credit with our supplier National Grid. But as far as Vivint is concerned, I have not received a bill yet. I think that number is $157 and some odd cents and I had received an email for this. So I don’t know if there’s a mix-up or there’s a belief that I’m gonna autopay this because I didn’t sign up for autopay. I’d also rather have a paper bill that gets sent to the house. There was also a whole process between National Grid, Vivint and an incentive program. But things really are not clear and there seems to be one or two question marks at this point.
Thank you for your review Scott. We love hearing that the process to enroll was easy. We look forward to you seeing the benefits of solar.

They sent us an email to try and set something up with them, so we could go on and see the account. However, my wife was having trouble with it so, she sent an email to me today to see if I can go and set it up because we haven't gotten the bill yet. Everybody at Vivint Solar was courteous and they had well timing. It was a great experience and they were really all nice. The installers called a day before they came out. The only thing was that they left my wall white instead of trying to paint it to match my house. I didn’t really appreciate that. Just because it is in the back, it doesn’t mean that it could be just left undone. But overall, I'm not dissatisfied. They were great and I have recommended them to my two grandsons and my son.

PG&E over here in California were found guilty of starting a bunch of wildfires and the consumers were gonna take the hit in recovering the cost. They were gonna double their cost per kilowatt, so I tried to find some alternative methods to save some money and got Vivint Solar. It turned out to be a little bit more expensive than I had imagined per month. Typically, my bill was around $100 or less. With Vivint just for the electric, it's been like 115 and 130. To my understanding I pay for every kilowatt that is generated and then come through up time at the end of the year, I get adjusted for that. That was how it was explained to me. So, I notice I'm definitely using a lot less electricity than I'm generating. Hopefully at the end of the year I get some type of refund or credits. Otherwise I'd be paying more all year per month and not really saving money.
But the rep that I've been speaking with is a real cool dude. We had a lot of in common, so it was really easy to set everything up. I came across some issues with scheduling when the panels were getting installed and inspected because of my schedule and a little bit of a miscommunication on Vivint's part when I wasn't told that there would be an inspection, and no one was home that day. It eventually got straightened out, but about two months later than expected. I was out of the area for a while too, so that was one of the reasons why it was delayed. But I was hoping to get everything taken care of before I had left.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, Stephen. We would like to review your service so far and analyze your production. Please send an email with your address. Thank you for leaving your feedback.

Avoid this company at all cost! I feel terrible for anyone who signed up with this solar company. I am in the middle of buying a house with solar panels from this company and I truly feel bad for the people who currently own this house because no one in their right mind would take over this contract for solar. Just some key point I have found with the solar contract
With the contracted solar, the rate is $0.10 KWH and increases 2.9% every year. Near the end of the 20 years this comes to $0.172. Currently JCP&L is $0.094 Which services that area. They have a 28 panel 7.14kw system. This only produces no more than 80% of the total house consumption of electricity. This number came from Steve over at Vivint Solar. So you would still at minimum need to get 20% of your electric needs from an electric company.
Their current bill is around $105 a month during the summer months. You have to pay per KWH whether you use it or not. Average is around 1000kwh a month in the summer and 500-600kwh in the winter. Once again all information provided by their solar company. At the end of their contract they will not own the solar panels. According to Vivint Solar because you never own the panels you do not get any of the tax breaks associated with solar. There are only a few options to do anything with the contract if you are looking to buy a house with their solar.
1. Purchase the system now as is. This one is currently 5 years old and cost $26000.2. Pre payment. So you pay the entire 15 years left up front but still do not own the panels.
3. She has to relocate the panels to her new home.
4. We'd have to qualify to take the contract over as is which brings the value of the house down due to the contract they signed. The longer the contract is the worse it gets until you hit the 20 year mark.
It actually brings the value of the house down if you have their solar!!! I'm not sure how there hasn't been a class action lawsuit on this company yet. Beware! Avoid at all cost!!!

It took six months to get the ok to use the panels, thus missing the pleasant Bakersfield summer and costing me nearly one thousand dollars paid to my favorite electrical energy source, Pacific Gas and Electric. When the panels broke into the sunshine this spring, I was thrilled to think that whatever energy the panels produce will now off set my annual donation to PG&E shareholders' grandchildren's college funds/vacation cruises around the world. What to my surprise my PG&E bill was zero! Progress! Unfortunately this was followed by a $117 bill from Vivint. Upon calling to inquire about this astonishing bill, the youngster who answered was more than happy to chortle, "You signed the contract!" and I could hear the laughter in the background. I continued to politely ask some pertinent questions only to get the same joyful response, "You signed the contract!" and more laughter in the background.
This month my PG&E bill was zero but, not to outdo themselves, Vivint's bill is $175. What a deal! Run, do not walk away from any Vivint representative. Then do your homework and allow a lawyer to closely examine the contract. They have me tied tightly and unless the house burns down, I'm stuck for the next twenty years. Can you imagine what fun I'm going to have trying to sell this house?

The guy that sold Vivint Solar to me misled me on how exactly it worked. He didn’t explain the PPA program to me. I’m not sure if he just didn’t know, but I thought I was gonna get paid money, selling it back to the grid. So, I got my first bill from BGE of $8, but then three days later I got a $200 bill from Vivint and I was very taken aback by this. People say that the first bill is gonna be a little surprising, but after that they kinda average out, as they were expected to be.
When they were installing my panels, they said they would send out bigger panels, so I was actually gonna generate more electricity, and all that means to me is that I’m gonna be paying a larger bill. And yet how much I produce was what they based my bill on. Other than that the customer service reps are very good. But they need better explanations of the exact process of how everything works. If that was done, I would’ve understood it and that would’ve changed my decision. Now, I’ve asked somebody if I could buy the solar panels, and of course, nobody got back to me about that. I’m hoping for improved results, but I don’t know that I’m gonna get that.

The only problem I have is my electric bill is triple what it was when I was with the electric company. I was under the understanding I paid $.25 per kilowatt hour of usage. I’m getting these huge bills and was told I pay for how much the system produces, not how much I use. I live in Southern California. It is sunny almost every single day, of course the thing is going to produce and produce. Why would anybody pay for production and not usage. I feel I really got rope a doped. Luckily it has been cloudy and my bill was only almost $400. I’m guessing in the summer months it’s gonna be closer to $1000 a month.

BEWARE! Roof leaking causing damage to house. Communicated issues to Bobby ** on the Damage Resolution team. Bobby sent a team out to assess the roof, stating that the roof was leaking due to rotting leaves under the panels and stated that panel guards are offered for purchase; however, the sales rep never offered this option.
My dad was not satisfied with his determination of the roof deteriorating due to the rotting leaves as the roof was flashed wrong, and pieces of the panel construction was not secure. Bobby sent another tech out and that tech stated that a lot of things were done wrong with the installation of the panels. The tech confirmed that the flashings were flashed wrong and the panels should've never been placed to an double layered roof because of the additional weight of the panels. He stated that the grommets are not long enough to go through two layers of shingles. When the panels were installed the installers put multiple holes in the multiple flashings when only one hole should have been placed per flashing throughout the roof.
To "remedy" this situation, Bobby sent the tech back out to patch the roof where it was leaking. The patch job caused the roof to be uneven, patchy, and wavy; the roof continues to leak. The tech also changed a little bit of the insulation and cut out two pieces of plywood and patched it back up and put shingles over top. The trusses have mold on them. The house has no attic, and the roof is going to need to be removed and assessed to determine any mold growth since there are leaks throughout the entire house - this is a HEALTH HAZARD.
Bobby promised that there would be a roofing contracting coming out to assess the roof, and no one has came out to look at it or give an update. Bobby has been getting harder to get in contact with and is often "out sick", and has not been responding to emails. The roof needs to be replaced, contract terminated, and panels removed from the property. The techs have them laying against the deck with wires exposed to the weather.

I’m not too happy with Vivint Solar right now. Although it sounded like a good deal and their salespeople were upfront, after the installation, they never turned the system on. For about three months, I kept getting bills of around 190 dollars from Duke Energy and I was also getting billed by Vivint Solar, which they were taking right out of my bank account. I called Vivint Solar in Utah and talked to at least five different people on five different occasions. They all promised they would do something and that a technician out here would check the system, but nothing ever happened. That was the poorest customer service I’ve ever had in my life.
I was almost at the point where I was gonna call an attorney, and then I finally got in touch with the regional manager in this area. He came by and said that the system has never been turned on. So, then, they finally turned it on. But I want some of my money back. I got another bill from Duke Energy last month and it wasn’t as high as the two prior bills. It showed 485 kilowatts that the system had generated. But if I get another bill from Duke Energy this month, then I’m gonna call Vivint Solar and have them take these panels off my roof.

Last year I had a Vivint salesperson come to my door. He came in and explained their new Power Purchase Agreement plan. It sounded good to me so I gave them permission to check my roof. Later I noticed an e-mail that welcomed me to Vivint. I downloaded and printed the file, and behold, I signed a 20 year contract. Unfortunately the 3 day opt out had passed. So I decided I had to pay someone for energy, why not them. After all SDGE charges more than any provider in the nation.
During the spring and fall my energy usage is very low. However with the PPA I pay for production not usage. Long story short, my vivint bill is much higher than my SDGE bill during this spring. I used 263kw last year in March, this year with Vivint I produced 553kw making my bill $50 higher than last year. This April is on track to be $75 higher than last year. The good news I'm building credits with SDGE. I'm hoping when I start using my AC this summer this will balance out. Another bad point of PPA is I'm paying for production even when I'm out of town, which is frequent as I'm retired.
If I had it to do all over again, I would have just bought a solar system. And I would have contested the deceptive sales practice of not providing a physical hard copy of this agreement. Overall I am satisfied with the Solar system, it works very well and I'm amazed at how much it produces. I'm very unhappy with the sales practice which I did not fully understand until I printed a hard copy of the agreement. Because of this I haven't been able to recommend Vivint Solar to my friends or family.

Over the last couple of years, we've been bombarded by people, either calling or knocking on the door then telling us about solar. Finally, after talking to the young lady from Vivint Solar, we decided to do it. She was excellent and we had very good interaction with her. However, we were very unhappy with the people that did the installation. They misled us on the time. They thought they were gonna be here four or five hours, yet they were here after dark trying to finish the job. And when they finished the job and left, they had mounted a box on the side of the house that prevented us from opening the gate. We felt rather stupid.
So, we called the representative that was helping us, who came and took some pictures. The very next day, they had somebody here to correct the situation. The person was very good and he did a nice job. He also took the color of the paint of the house and he put it on the pieces of conduit that were shining brightly down the side of the house. It was excellent. And now, having solar for about a month, my only thing is that when Vivint bill us, it will all be on the computer. I'm 90 years old and I cannot see, so I wouldn’t know how much my bill is. I was hoping to be able to get a paper copy monthly. But overall, my experience with Vivint Solar has been very good.

We had to call and they said they’d call back to schedule an appointment, but it hasn’t happened yet. When it is not working, I am losing money and they are, too.

We were concerned about the environment so we looked into solar energy services and got Vivint Solar. The enrollment process was very easy. The guy that came out and set the whole thing up was terrific and courteous. The only thing is that I may have some gutter damage. We had just redone our roof and put new gutters on, and the ladder was leaning up close to the gutter and there was a rung right by the edge of the gutter. Nonetheless, our experience with Vivint Solar has been very good. I am saving a lot of money every month. I’ve only gotten one bill so far so it’s hard to tell. We had a situation where we were using way more electricity than normal because we had an oxygen-making machine that was going almost constantly so it will be interesting to see whether the solar paid for that in full or they didn’t put up enough panels.

I tried solar three years ago. Somehow, the solar company was afraid to install the panels on my roof because I have an old house with a peculiar roof. It has foam in it and they didn't want to drill in it because that it would damage the roof. Six solar companies came to my house, evaluated it, then said they could not install. Then, this guy from Vivint told me that they can install on whatever roofs, so I told them to try it. It turned out that they were able to install and I have solar now.
However, when the installed the solar panels, they made some mistakes in drilling on the main beams. They assured me that they would repair it, haven't until now. My house has a cathedral ceiling and you could see all the beams as well as the drill holes. Enrolling with Vivint Solar was easy to do except after the installation because I had to call them to give them my bank account so we could do the automatic payment. All in all, I’m satisfied with my decision to go solar.

When there were issues, he was always taking care of it. I am still in contact with him right now. If any issue comes up or if I have questions, he is very quick to respond. He is such a huge help.
The folks that I spoke to at Vivint were really receptive to any concerns or complaints or questions that I had and acted on the problems as quickly as possible. Problems from day 1. Missed appointments and wasted vacation days throughout the install process. Then everything was up and running for about 2 months... not long enough to see a difference in the bill. System went down in February and stopped communicating but we received no notice. The bills kept coming, though. Vivint was charging us what they "estimated we were producing". I called to report the system was down and needed service. A case was opened and I was told I'd be contacted for a service visit. It is now three weeks later from my initial call.
I've called back and spoken with customer service no less than three times. I still haven't received a call to schedule. I've been told their scheduling department has no inbound phone line (yeah... okay) and can only be contacted through internal emails. They continue to repeat the same lines: "It's been escalated, I've sent an email to my supervisor." When I ask to speak to a supervisor I'm placed on hold (longest was 40 minutes)... no one answers. So, essentially, I'm stuck in a 20 year contract, paying a monthly bill that is estimated because the system doesn't work, and my regular utility bill hasn't budged. I cannot and will not recommend Vivint to anyone. My experience has been and continues to be awful.

Had to have them come back to house to do the lease over. After several calls they came back. We were told that we would get $350 for every referral AND a $500 sign on bonus, still don't have it. The neighbor who is connected now can NEVER get a salesman to return a call and of course they will not speak to the wife because her name is not on paperwork, GOD forbid he dies.
We signed the lease in late FEB, inspection and all, then our electric company emailed me that they need more info to move forward. No return phone calls from the salesmen UNTIL I left a voicemail that I wanted to cancel. He said the office would get things straight and to date have heard NOTHING! I have emailed the company that we do NOT want to move forward and STILL NO return email or call back from the salesman. Hope all who read this think twice!

Over 2 years ago I noticed a leak in the roof coming from a section of my roof that had solar panels. After further investigation it was determined, by Vivint, that the leak was caused by their equipment installation. They've made multiple attempts at repairs, scheduled multiple appointments to investigate the cause and examine the extent of damage. The last repair was supposed to be "the one" that fixed the leak.
A few days later during the next storm it was still leaking, this time even worse than before. They sent out a painting contractor to access the damages, AGAIN, and still my roof has not been repaired. My roof has a 30+ year rated shingle and the last crew that was out just got a basic shingle from Home Depot to patch. You expect a company, especially one of this size, to take customer service and satisfaction serious. I expected to have the roof repaired correctly and professionally. Instead I got terrible customer service, even worse damage claims resolution and still no repair to date. When I changed internet providers, Vivint was out immediately to fix the communication issue. They need this operational in order to get billing correct. Clearly that takes priority.
I'm not a person that has time nor the energy to write reviews, obviously this is a sign I have reached the end of my patience. Beware of Vivint's customers service and claims resolution. The system works like it is supposed to and there are many other companies on the market that can provide the same service. I wish I had read a review like this prior to going with Vivint. Customer service and claims resolution is more important to me than solar power. I would even be willing to pay more for the same service from another company that had better service.
Do your homework before you go with Vivint. Look at the reviews and see if there are other companies in your area that offer better customer service. If so I advice you go with them, even if it costs more. Once you sign that contract you're stuck with Vivint and they are only concerned with their profit. Don't get put in the same position I am in, reviewing contracts and seeking legal support. I could have spent this time an effort upfront and saved the headache.

We are in contract to sell our home and we are in contract to buy a new home. We have leased solar panels from Vivint for 5 years. We recently contacted Vivint about moving our lease to our new home. We were told that the panels are tied legally to the roof of our home through a UCC1 (this is a lien on our home). We then found out Vivint was in breach of contract because there were no permits or CO obtained. We had an independent solar company review the value of the panels. They stated that the panels were worth about half of the buyout "offered" to us (like a form of extortion) and took pictures showing the incorrect installation of the panels on our roof. Although we were happy with our lease previous to this, we now realize the danger of signing a contract before your lawyer reviews it. We hope this helps anyone that is getting a leased system from Vivint. Good luck.

But I had an excellent experience with their customer service.
I interacted more with the reps and it looked like a good situation, and then we sat down and went over the figures. We went over my previous year's APS bill, and how much the installation of the solar panels would cost as well as the projected cost with the lease. We were impressed with their presentation and was convinced that it would help us lower our monthly bill. After signing the process took place, panels were installed and all the city permit and everything were dealt with by Vivint. Months later I finally got the email that our panels are ready to be activated, following the instructions I activated and nothing, had to call for tech support to come to install a wireless thing to connect to our router coz it's not connect to my internet. Then it started producing.
The first month's bill was ok $28 with Vivint and $10+ with Edison. The next month's bill came in as a shocker coz it $159.27!!! Triple than what I used to pay when I didn't had the panels and I still have a bill from EDISON. When I called them all the people tell me is about my contract and that my panels are working as they should and that it. I have to pay for the energy my panels produced and the more energy I produced the higher I pay. I was told that I'll have a flat rate of 17 cents for every power consumed and not per production. Now I pay for what we make and what we consume. And nobody told me about this when they were explaining that contract on Docusign.
I'm stuck with a 20 yrs initial term and paying more than I was promised, now it messed up my budget and I am not saving a single cent. Was on hold for 48 minutes after being transferred from billing, to customer service to another customer service. And all they say is that it's my contract. A year later we had roof leaks because they used the wrong roof standoffs. A couple years ago they installed pigeon guards which have failed. We reached out to Vivint with no resolution.
We have reached out again over 6 weeks now to get this resolved costing us more (thousands of dollars) in repairs than what the solar is saving us. They finally came out to tell us... not their problem. It is their panels causing the pigeons to nest under the panels... Yes it is your problem as the guards and solar are your product on my roof. Oh and a couple months back they went back and charged us several months of exorbitant charges because their equipment was not reporting properly. So they went all the way back to when the panels were installed and charged us all the dollars for their equipment not working. I would not wish this company on my worst enemy! They are awful!

A few years back our electrical company offered a program to do solar. They didn’t honor their contract and it was just a total mess. I was only gonna have so many panels, but when they came to install, they put twice as many so I got out of it. I was really down on the idea of solar anyway. When the two gentlemen from Vivint Solar came, they initially talked to my husband. When I finally met up with them, they said they didn't treat people that way. They said everything that I knew I wanted to hear. However, they stopped returning phone calls once we signed on the dotted line. They made their commission and didn’t care. Until then, they were right there and called right back.
I didn’t pay too much attention to the first statement from the electrical company because I had a huge credit on there which I knew there would be. I’ve gotten my second statement and noticed there were all these charges for electricity on it. I asked, "Why would I be charged anything?" The gentleman said that there’d be a small monthly grid charge and that was normal. I asked how it was. He said $12, which was not true.
I don’t know why I’m paying anything to the electrical company if I have full solar. I can understand the grid charge, but I don’t understand why I would be charged anything else. I’ll wait for one more statement date and see what happens. They charge so much and then took what solar amount that they bought back from me and my charges are deducted from that. Then the balance of it went on to a credit that I have, which just keeps getting larger.
At some point, the gentlemen’s representative said that they would issue a check, probably by the end of the year, as far as the debt. The two gentlemen lied to our management association and were advertising on our little monthly newspaper until the HOA found out about what they were saying and forbid them to advertise anymore. And because they had ticked off our HOA, the HOA made them paint not only the conduit but also all the boxes and if they had to go over the roof, they had to paint that as well. Other solar companies that have units on other homes were not made to do that.
When I called a customer service number about one issue, they were very courteous and walked through it with me. When the guy that came to paint the conduit opened up the main box, he said that the lights on the panel should be flashing, but they were not. I called and was told that some of the units don’t and that my service was working fine.
I’m hoping that that’s true because I know nothing about solar and no one has come back out to check it. Maybe it’s not working 100% and that's why I’m getting charges from my utility company. I need somebody out here to check this unit. Also, I thought our contract was in both of our names so that we wouldn’t have an issue, but it’s not. I don’t know how much of a problem that would be if something happened to Truman. I was totally impressed with the installers though. They were very efficient and never left a bolt on the ground. It was a very nice experience.
Hello Barbara. We appreciate your feedback. We love hearing that the installation crew did a great job and are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with your HOA. If you have additional questions or concerns please reach out to us.

The high prices of electricity made us decide to look into solar energy services. The Vivint Solar salesman convinced us that it was gonna be a good deal and that we were gonna save money. Plus, the interactions I had with anybody that was worked out here were good. However, we had a few glitches when they were installing the system. They had to remove a part of our roofing to put the panels down, and they messed that up. I don’t think the guy they had hired to do the installation was even licensed, but they ended up having to hire somebody else to do it. Then finally, Vivint’s crew came out to fix it, but it took a long time. But those things didn’t bother me. The end result is what concerns me.
The system was ready to be operational in August, but it didn’t get turned on until February. I didn’t have a terrible problem with that because we just paid our normal power bill. But since Vivint was turned on, our power bills have been just outrageous. In February, our first bill was $69 and I thought that was cool. That was the way I wanna see it. Then we got a bill for $428 last month, and that was more than twice as much as what we’d normally pay. I called and complained about it. They said $127 of that $428 was supposed to have been applied to the February bill. But that's still way higher. I’m a little disgusted with the whole thing and the sad part about it is that I don’t see any way out of it other than covering the panels up. We’re coming up on the summer months. That’s when we use the most power, but that’s when the panels generate the most power too. And based on the first two months, it is scary.

A guy from Vivint came to the door and talked about their programs. We had been considering solar energy and it seemed like the right time, and he was available. I also did a little bit of research online to verify that they were at least a reasonably good company. They installed the system about two and a half months ago, and it’s been active for about a month and a half. I'm fairly satisfied, though the only qualm I have is with their monitoring system. They have a system that monitors how much energy the system produces, and it’s missing data as it shows half a day is missing. In one view, it says I produced 28 kilowatt hours that day, and then in another view, it says I produced 17 kilowatt hours in that day. So, I don’t know which number to believe.
I complained to them and they told me, “Your solar is working fine. Don’t worry.” It was not helpful. So far, they’ve had me try some stuff that I’m pretty sure is not gonna work. That’s typical of customer service and especially with tech support. The customer service before and during the installation and during the approval process was great. Since then, when I’ve been complaining about the monitoring system, the customer service has not been great. I would suggest that they go into more technical detail during the sale briefing about how the system is gonna work. I had to do a little bit of research on my own to figure out what the right questions to ask were. So, I wish they had gone into some more detail before I had to do the research so I could’ve made better queries and spend less time digging through alleys that were not useful to me. Other than that, the system seems to be performing well, and Vivint seems to have done a good job.

Vivint Solar was going door-to-door. And my husband talked to them and then he told them, “I’ll talk with my wife.” And then we decided to give it a try. Enrolling with Vivint Solar was super easy. The design took no time. What took the most time was the city. The city of San Diego at the time was not set up for all the inspections that they needed. So, that was where the delay was. But otherwise, everything with Vivint was super easy. And then recently, they came around again. They would come around about once a year and look at our energy use.
And then, when they came around recently, they told us that they could help us. Somebody had changed something where they could put greater percentage of panels on to the energy use. So, we had more panels installed. That was a super easy process and I’ve already seen a huge reduction in our bill. They also just finished putting solar on one of our rental properties.
During a typical year on our house, at a good time, our SDG&E bill with our gas was maybe 20 bucks. Our SDG&E bill would be like $180. And then during the summer and Christmas, with all the lights, the bill would be like 400 to $600 because the air conditioning is running during the summer. I pay Vivint anywhere from 60 to just over a $100 a month on their cost, with what I pay to them for the kilowatt hour. And with SDG&E, we would pay about 400 to $500 a year. So, it was a huge difference. And then it was funny because we just had more panels put up and when we got our bill, we went into the negative. The net metering dropped our bill $30. This is great.
There are huge benefits to having the panels and there was no cost. Vivint comes and maintains it. They pay attention to it by some type of a computer. And so, they’ve contacted us once in a while and say, “Hey. It looks like a panel is out. Can we come check it?” They stay on top of it. They are just letting us know that there’s gonna be somebody wandering around on our roof. It doesn’t even impact us. And we’ve seen a great savings in the bill. I’m very pleased.

The appraisal and installation process was painless. It took a while, but they did a good job on the panels. The cost for power (Maryland) is a little less than I would pay the power company. However, I've had three problems over the course of 2-3 years and they are not very good about dealing with problems. Their website is terrible. And when a circuit has gone down, they don't notice - I've had to notice and call them. And even when I've done that, sometimes it takes calling a few times before a technician calls me back to repair the system. I can't recommend Vivint Solar to friends. It's not worth it.

I had an old boyfriend who worked for a solar company and I've been interested in solar for 20 years. So, when the opportunity presented itself, I decided to do it. Enrolling with Vivint was very easy. I needed to go through the process three times because I had three systems put it. When II first got it, we had a house fire, so that system was gone. In fact, when I had the house fire, solar was still pretty new in our area. At the time, I was calling Vivint at 5 AM because the fireman wanted to know what to do. Vivint ended up sending me gift cards and it was really nice. Then I got another system and afterwards they said I needed more. So, now I have a third system. Based on my experience, it's not really saving much money but I still think solar is the better way to go. It's also gonna be better for the environment in the long run.

We will be mandated to start producing our own power, and that wind does not work for our area. No worries, they will help me comply with this state mandate. They will put panels on my roof for free, bringing me into compliance. Beware of scare tactics like these. I take issue with people who try to scare you into purchasing their product. Only one guy did the speaking, and his demeanor and inflection implied I had no choice but to take him to see my power meter, as per state mandate. This tactic likely works for him often. This sales tactic is highly unethical, and I will be forwarding this information to the BBB.

A coworker of mine is a salesperson for Vivint Solar. I had looked into solar programs several times but once he explained to me the different programs they had, I decided to go with Vivint. After all the inspections were done though, I had no notification. They said it takes a while for the electrical company to turn it over. Then I contacted my coworker and he said he would make a phone call.
The next day, I was on the way out for a vacation and I got a notice email saying I could turn my solar panel on. So, I missed a whole week of solar. If I had gotten that email a day ahead, I could have turned my solar before I went on vacation. But it seems like when he made the call, they jumped on it. Also, I’m not sure how the billing works. I got a notice today saying that my solar bill was 159 and some odd cents. This will be my third billing cycle, so I wanna get a feel for what to expect. I didn't know this extra $127 was coming out of my checking account today. I didn't realize that. But other than that, the enrolling for the program was easy.

A guy from Vivint Solar came to my house and told me about their services, showed me their system and how it works. Since it was a rental deal, it sounded good to me and so I went ahead and took it. That was four years ago and since then, the system has worked fine. The biggest problem with Vivint Solar though is their answering system. While you get easily through for billing, when you try to call up there for reasons other than that, you don’t know who to get ahold of. It's a real problem.
Then, a while back, PG&E raised their rates somewhere and Vivint Solar came out and gave me 500 bucks to install more panels. I had that done and while Vivint Solar did not take long to install them and they took care of everything, it took four months before I was able to see a difference in my bill. I had no troubles the first time I had something installed but this time around, Vivint Solar had a number of troubles with PG&E to approve it. PG&E checked the panels out and it was right, but we couldn't turn them on until I got approval from PG&E again. I had to raise hackles to prove that I have read the writing from PG&E so that I could turn it on. But after that, I was able to turn the newly installed panels on and the whole thing took effect in January. Since having Vivint Solar's system, my electric bill has been way lower.

3 years ago, Vivint installed solar panels on my roof. All they did was take some pictures, send them off to Corporate where an alleged structural engineer stated my roof was sound and did not need anything for improvements. 3 years later they now say my roof was not structurally sound only after they received a letter from the Structural Engineer I hired wrote his report and I sent a copy to them. Sort of funny is sounds like they are plagiarizing my structural engineer's letter. I have been flip flopped from department to department with no resolution and nothing but lies, stalling tactics, being told departments do not have supervisors. That does not sound like a very well run company, so that means the employees do what they want all day long unsupervised.
Now the Vivint is alleging I agreed to have them reinstall solar panels on my roof. This I never did. My structural engineer even says it is unsafe due to the snow loads here in New Jersey. Oh how Vivint says what they want in lies and deceit. My wife and I have had to do without while paying off the loan we took because Vivint falsely represented themselves and would not do what laws required and codes required. I signed the contract with Vivint Solar in November, but I didn’t get the installation until January of this year. My interactions with their reps were absolutely perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better company to deal with. The installation of the panels and the system was absolutely perfect as well. Not only was there no damage but the installers went above and beyond. It was a roof-mounted installation, and it’s over my double-car garage. They removed the tiles from that whole half of the house and repapered underneath prior to the installation so I was extremely happy with that.
When the reps checked out the system, it’s supposed to produce 105% of my normal usage and I was expecting to have a little bit more savings than we’ve had. But it’s only producing 50% so I’m still building an equalizing account with SDG&E. Roughly, I’m paying $145 a month to Vivint and another 145 still to SDG&E. However, the weather hasn’t been great and it is a factor because I’m able to see what it produces through the Vivint app, and it’s only now producing at its peak so hopefully, we’ll catch up. I’m certainly gonna give the system at least a year to see how it performs.

So we had Vivint Solar panels installed December of 2018. When we had the panels installed we were told that our light bill with OUC Electric Company would be low as long as we are producing. We were doing great. My husband monitors the site to make sure that we are producing. But then a couple of months ago he checked the site and we did not see any production so he called Vivint customer service and they said they would send someone out to check the system. We do not know if they checked because they send someone out with no one being home.
We then get our OUC electric bill and it was normal bill. He called the company. They apologized and said he would be compensated but never received compensation. He then called back and another rep said there is no compensation because we have the loan with Mosaic company. What does that have to do with there faulty equipment. Now we keep having power surges to our home because the breaker for the solar panel keeps tripping and our OUC electric bill is still high. I am paying more to have the solar panels up then just having our regular bill!!!
It takes forever to speak with someone. When we finally do they give the runarounds. He asked for a supervisor or manager, They say someone will call but nothing yet. Next steps are going to be LAWSUIT!!! I am not going to be paying for a loan on a product that is clearing not giving what is promised. The loan does not have anything to do with your faulty product/equipment!!! We want to be compensated for the OUC electric bill for the months your equipment faltered. I was in the marketing group with someone at Vivint Solar last year and I had them come out and speak to me. In the meantime, they were too expensive. They wanted me to buy the whole product for $40,000, but I wasn't doing that. I'm in the real estate business and I closed a New Jersey home that we had to release it and rerecord it. And I had the conversation with a friend of mine when I was doing her closing that they've got her monthly payment at $92 forever, so that was what I was looking for - a capped rate depending on how the product and the program went.
I wound up doing the closing for the guy who did the installation. I got out of the deal, but, at the same time, I was misled. I told him that I did not want my payment to come out automatically deposited out of my bank month after month because I am on commission. I choose when I pay my bills based on when I get my commission. Apparently, they have no other way. It is an automatic debit. When he said, "Well, I just need to do it. Just fill in the form," I should've known better than that in general. I let it go and I didn't say anything. I will deal with that accordingly, but I didn't like it because I like having to pay my own bills on my own time.
Also, when I got my first bill, it was $157 from three or 400, so I was happy about it. I thought that it worked. However, we've had an extremely warm March and April and I got my bill and it was $257. It went up a hundred dollars. We have to be at 445. I called and asked what the heck was going on. I didn't have the heat on and electric, but the bill went up. I was being told at that point that I was paying for the overage of solar being processed to the grid to the local BGE, Baltimore Gas and Electric. Nobody ever told me I'd be paying for the processing of the overage. In the meantime, we haven't even hit the peak and my backyard is a southern exposure. It means I'm gonna be over-generating, but I don't know what is gonna happen with my bill and how I ended up having a higher bill than I even started with with the fact that I am gonna produce so much energy out of my backyard in the months to come.
They told me I would get money back from whatever overage I didn't utilize during the course of my year, but now they are telling me that I had to wait the entire year to see how much I produced and how much I will need on the back end of it in the slower months, and that would then average out to me ultimately having the savings. I am not happy to think that I have to pay for any production, the processing of the overage going from us to the grid we are paying for. All they talked about was the fact that my bill wouldn't go up more than 2.9% a year. Then, they approved that BGE went up 10% a year.
I would be coming out better off even with the increase with the fact that I was just paying Vivint for the same thing I'd be paying BGE. "Instead of paying BGE, you're gonna pay us. We're not gonna go up any more than 2.9% a year, so you will ultimately have those savings. At the same time, any overage that you produce will go into BGE and you will get a check back at the end of the year." That was the way it was presented to us and that is why I signed up for it.
However, that is not what they are telling me because my bill was $100 more. When we called to find out why, we were told that we are paying for the processing of the overage of the energy. Of course, that is where they make their money. They are servicing us to service the overage, so I am not a happy camper. When we called to explain, I needed to send them all my BGE bills, which is a pain in the neck for me to give back and get them because I don't know where they all are. So, it slows down that process that I haven't had a chance to go back since last Wednesday since all of this has happened.
As far as customer service, the two representatives were polite. At first, we had to go over their head because they tried to tell us, "No," and that we went over the other person's head. They escalated the call into consumer complaint division and the rep was very nice, although he kept saying the same thing over and over, "You signed the paper." It was not even a paper. All I did was sign on a tablet, a tiny print of two and three and four pages.
It was a blatant lie for Vivint to explain things specifically and to outright tell me that the rep just needed to take the information to have it on the file and that I could change that later with the company when I wasn't getting a bill. I called, but they said that they are not even set up in any way, shape or form to bill people and that everything is automatic and online. Nonetheless, Vivint always met the dates they were supposed to when they were coming in and out of the house and they got it in in a shorter period of time. For all the different reasons, everybody was good and polite, so I was happy with the installation process. However, I am not happy with the overall.

I’ve been researching solar for 20 years and noticing that for small houses often where I live, there’s not a lot of roof area. It’s a little house and solar really didn’t put up enough power. Then more recently, the technology has improved enough that now, it does. I have an associate that I work with, and he bought a house recently in Los Angeles where there’s a bigger house and a lot of sun. The house came with solar as part of a mandated thing that the housing tract had to do. And so, another guy and I were watching his bill being a negative number occasionally or very low, and our bills were higher. So, that kind of got us started again.
So, I did review the research again to see that now, the solar panels are putting up more power. And so, I contacted several different companies, got various stories on incentives and odds and ends and different people that seem pushy, and salesmen who didn’t seem to know what they were talking about. And out of all of those, one of them was Vivint, and they seemed to be much more straightforward and knowledgeable. They also had the best incentive. I was able to get a friend in Phoenix on board, so both of us are supposed to get 500 bucks.
Another big determining factor was the fact that with prior solar things, one has to finance and pay, and they’d tell you, “Oh, It’ll amortized soon. And soon, it will be worth it.” With Vivint, you don’t pay anything. It’s free. They maintain and monitor it. They install it, too. My roof was in good shape so I could just go ahead and do that. I have zero out of pocket expenses to put the thing there. Both the guys at Vivint Solar that I talked to on the phone, sales and coordinator types, and the workers that came out, were all very professional. There wasn’t a lot of BS and they were polite.
PG&E supplies my power in California. When I got my first bill, it was in the middle of the month probably because the new system has started, so the prior month, it was like 200 bucks for PG&E, and then all of a sudden, it was 50 bucks. That sounds great but it was in the middle of the month and it had so many bizarre terms and odds and ends and taxes and adjustments, and this and that, that I really couldn’t say what it’s going to be like. Plus, under the new system, I’m supposed to be paying Vivint a certain amount every month. I’m buying the power from them and then pass the certain amount that they will charge. PG&E will charge the difference. And there are different other factors that one never would have thought of that they got in them like taxation and all kind of stuff that plays into these things that makes it ridiculously complicated.
And then they make reference on the PG&E bill until the end of the year to adjust the profit. Normally, you just pay for power. In this case, you’re putting power back into the grid, so that they’ll profit from that, and then the loss from what you use over and above that. And that’s constantly monitored, adjusted and regulated. So, whether this is worth it and by how much, it’ll probably take a year at least to see how it all plays out.
Out in California, we’ve had a lot of big fires. And everybody is pointing at whoever might have the pocket, whether they have it or not. And it may prove that the biggest advantage of going solar is to escape PG&E’s rate increase after the fires. Overall, everything with Vivint Solar so far has been fine. I wish I could see in the future, a year from now or two, what the real difference is because Vivint is gonna raise their rates a couple of percent every year.

In 2016, when I moved into our new home, I reached out to Vivint Solar company because I was interested in free Solar panels for my home. Our family is low income with a family size of 9 and reading over information and speaking with people in the community, and understanding that panels were free, therefore I chose Vivint Solar. Vivint Solar determined that I only needed 12-16 panels at the time and that was when the project began. I was told and promised by the representatives/salespeople that once I’m in our new home, within a few months, that I would get more panels. I never received more panels, nor did I qualify for panels and I did not understand why I was told that I would get them.
In addition to this, my system has been working very poorly and I have had several techs out to my home to reset the system and compensate me for the overcharges on the account. Not only did they damage my roof shingles, but this issue is on-going since 2016. Every year since 2016, I have had an enormous true-up bill. My true-up bills range from $1,200 to $1,500. Every year I must get on a payment plan with PGE in order to live, so that PGE does not turn off our power! I have done everything in my power to assist Vivint Solar and have been having on-going communications with Vivint Solar and PG&E. This is an ongoing issue and has caused so much stress on our family. We are a low-income household and are striving daily. But these bills are outrageous.
I am being told by every representative that I speak with, that I can qualify for other programs through Vivint Solar, then I am shut down every time. This company is getting my families hopes up to just crush us in the end. In addition to that, I am also paying PG & E and have a Vivint Solar monthly bill. See Breakdown below: Breakdown: on-going yearly payment plan with PG & E $145 a month. Regular monthly bill to PG& E $10-80 (varies). Regular Vivint Solar Bill $25-100 (debt and I’m behind on payments). Total Mo. $310 + I am in debt due to your companies promises and my family and I cannot afford to have Electricity and heat in our home.
Sad truth is that I have limited my children on using lighting, heating and air, stovetops, microwave, washer and dryer and much more. This has caused a lot of sadness with our family that instead of Vivint solar improving our electric bill, Vivint Solar has put our family into major debt!! This has caused me to have emotional distress. I cannot believe this company would lie and put my family and children through this! I am hoping for a recovery soon!

Thus far I've been very satisfied with my decision to go solar. Vivint Solar contacted my wife and thereafter, we went with them. Their rep AJ was very pleasant and explained things very well. However, one problem I had was that we had to get the app to work on my phone. I was trying to get registered and it wouldn't register me. The second and third time I called in to get the issue fixed, I finally got a text that walked me through what I needed to do it correctly. Still, Vivint's reps were very professional and their installers were very quick and pleasant to work with. I'm totally satisfied with Vivint so far.

My SDGE bill kept getting higher, and my daughter recommended Vivint Solar to me. Customer service has been super. The only thing I’ve had any difficulty with is the fact that when the roofers redid my roof, they damaged some of my ceilings inside the house, and it’s been a struggle to get it fixed. I called Vivint, and they said they are working on it. Other than that, the crew have always been very nice and the system has worked fine.

If it were possible to give a negative star review, I would. There is absolutely zero customer service once they sell you a system. I need to get information about what to do when I sell my house, and in spite of emailing 3 times to the address provided, calling and waiting for 20 minutes each time no one provides any help. If you call sales they pick up immediately, but no one can help you there either. BEWARE! This company gets understandably terrible reviews and will likely go bankrupt.

I get calls that my system is not working properly and that the lead time to have someone come out is weeks away. I want to go back and never have these panels put on the house. I am now dealing with a bill that is 12 times higher than I normally have and have not been able to talk to someone as billing said I need to talk to customer service. I couldn't be transferred to customer service which seemed odd. I have now been on hold for 90 minutes altogether and still have not been able to talk to someone. I’m very happy that I went with Vivint. The original installation around five years ago was quick and they got me up and running quickly. They did excellent work. Then after the first full month that I had the system, there was a difference in my bill. I had them add nine panels here last fall, but that time, it took several months to get it up and running. They had to put a whole new electrical box junction in and that took a couple of trips. But it’s up and running now, and it seems to be working well. I use online tracking and everything is working well. I’ve also been very happy with their customer service. They’ve always done anything that was needed.

A lot of people have come to the door for solar, and I happened to like what Vivint was offering. I also liked their setup and the fact that we were able to get it all on one side of the roof. I didn’t want buy at that point in time, but running it in the monthly charge even though it increases every year was satisfactory. The installation took less than a day. They started in the morning and they were done by 1:00. They did an excellent job.
With the system, I can go online on my phone and I can tell how much energy it's producing for me. Plus I get a statement every month on what I'm using. The biggest step was understanding how it worked, what had to be set up and what I had to do in order to be able to monitor. Of course they monitor it too, but I wanted to be able to do it on my phone. It's a little complicated but not too bad. What little experience I've had so far has been great. They're very good at checking up on me and making sure everything was okay and I understood what I was doing. I'm very happy with Vivint.

I will never do business with this company! The "survey" was scheduled and the technician came to my house on time. He requested to see the electricity panel. I thought it's not a big deal and he just wanted to see. And then he said he will open it to see the back to make sure the wiring is done right. The problem is, the panel is sealed with caulk, and if he took off the panel and then put it back without proper caulking there will be chink around the panel. The technician said he did not have caulk to reseal the panel edge. So I told him in this case please do not take the panel off. Next thing he wanted to do is to measure the attic. I show him the opening to the attic but told him I do not want him to go up there. The technician then asked me if he can go up to the roof outside to measure the size. I said, "Sure but be careful it is raining outside." The technician went outside, sat in the car for a while and then left.
Within 5 minutes I receive the sales rep's call from UT and said the technician told him I was hard to work with. I told him I do not like the "survey" that will take things apart even before I decided to do anything. The sales rep said that is the standard procedure for every solar company before they submit any paperwork to the government. I told him I didn't even ask them to submit anything and will let anyone do anything to my house unless I decided to go ahead with the company. He said he just wanted to let me know that the company decided not to do business with me.
That's interesting. Since he said that, I also wanted to make my point. I told him I read the reviews and really don't trust the company with the reviews like those. He said they are the biggest company and I should see the rating in BBB. I told him I know and I have already checked, and they should focus on taking care of the existing customers to reduce the negative reviews. The sales rep said "we are the largest company and has been in the business for # years (I don't remember the number and really don't care), and don't need me to teach them how to do business". I told him I was still in the office and didn't have any more time to discuss this with him. He hung up on me before I finished the sentence. What is the big deal of "the largest company" and the years in business?

Prior to the installation of my solar panels my roof did not leak. My roof has been leaking for nearly a year and Vivint refuses to take any responsibility. I have provided them with documentation from 2 contractors. They recommended a contractor who refused to give me any written documentation. I was told by a Vivint rep that the contractor could neither confirm nor deny the leak was the result of the installation. You would have thought that Vivint would have thought enough about their customer to do a bit more investigating of the issue.
I requested that they remove the panel and I would cover the cost of the damage since they were not responsive, responsible or concerned enough about the issue. They quoted me 4500 to remove the panels. To this date they have not contacted me even after I sent videos and inspection documentation. I was told they have an insurance policy to cover issues such as the one I am experiencing but perhaps they have already exhausted it with other claims. I gave them 1 star because my sales rep was amazing.

I told these idiots in Salt Lake City about these e-mails that I have the latest Router/Modem from my Cable company and I am hooked up through WIFI. I was told that I have to check the Vivint Solar website on a daily basis to make sure that the Data is going through normally. So far the system is working, a couple of times it is not.
So, although I get these Data Failure e-mails, I called the Technician department and they don't give me much help at all. I have been having a problem with Vivint Solar for the past few months. When the panels were installed, we were told to periodically check the panel to be sure the red lights were not on. Needless to say, for the past 3 months, two red lights have been on. We have been calling customer service and have been going in circles. At first they told us they would send a service tech and get back to us within 24 hours. We waited a week and called again…same answer. We finally had a service tech come on March 6. He told me that the “brain” of the system was not working and he would be back the next day because he did not have the part on the truck. He did not come back the next day and I called a few days later. They had no record of the service tech notes…but shows that the panels were working properly.
I asked why the red lights were still on if it was fixed and they did not have an answer. I asked them to contact the service tech and they told me that he does not carry a phone…which was odd because he was on the phone ordering the part when he was at my house. They told me they would get back to me in 24 hours. I called back March 19, and spoke to service rep. I explained what I have been going through over the past few months and he told me that on his end it looks like there is a panel not working. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and he told me that they are not available. After speaking with him for 20 minutes, I finally got him to put a supervisor on the phone, named Joe.
Joe was very condescending and told me that on his end he could see that our system is working properly. I asked what changed within the last hour, since the customer service rep told me he saw it was not working. He was nasty and told me that some systems work with the red light on! He said he would send it to diagnostics to determine if they should send someone out. I said, "It is obvious someone needs to come…the red lights are on." He then said in a nasty tone, “Is there anything else I can do for you.” I said yes, "Get the lights green”. My neighbor has the same system, and all lights are green. We had it installed same week. They are also paying much less in bills than we are which shows something is not working.
This company has been a nightmare to work with since Day 1. When panels were being installed, the installer fell through my front bedroom window. It took almost 8 months for them to settle that mater and I feel this is a way for them to “recoup” what they spent on the window. I don’t think my request is out of line…all I am asking is for them to fix my panel so that all the green lights are on showing that the system is running properly.

Vivint put a lot of study into going into whether or not to put the solar in and the sturdiness of the home. And if they were to give recommendations to the homeowner on how they could make their home more cost-energy efficient, that would help us significantly. And they’re already doing that but they just need to inform the owner. Other than that, I've had no issues at all.

Originally I liked Vivint. The sales people are great. But their customer service is horrible! People are really nice but they do not solve problems. I’m in the process of refinancing my house. Vivint puts a lien on their panels which shows up on the title to the house. The bank won’t approve a loan until they are in first position on the title. It’s a simple fix.
Banks do it all the time and should not take more than a couple of days. The bank submitted the request and got no response. A week later I called myself to see what was going on. I was told the process would be done three days from when I called. Four days after that I called again. Customer service had no answer for me. They gave me an email for the “filings department”. WORST DEPARTMENT ever. They don’t even have a contact number to call only an email. I’ve emailed them several times and apparently I’m not good enough of a customer to even solicit a response. A week after it was supposed to be done I still haven’t even gotten an email back. STAY AWAY from Vivint. Once they have you under contract they don’t care about their customers.

The CS rep refused, stating the document center is in Oregon and understaffed. And, they don’t have a phone number to call.
After 30 minutes of arguing and asking for a manager, all managers wherein a meeting and refused to assist me. I was told a manager would call me in 1-3 business days. I still haven’t received a call, and I'm on business day 11 and no documents. The refi is on hold. I’m not happy. The AG here is suing Vivint for fraud. I’m going to ride that lawsuit and get this system off of my house at Vivint’s expense. Vivint has settled with other States for similar business practices.
I have reviewed my contract with Vivint and here are all references to "lien":1. You agree to keep the System and System Interests free from all liens. You shall indemnify Us against all losses, claims, costs and expenses (including attorney's fees) incurred by US in discharging and releasing any such lien, encumbrance, pledge, levy, or attachment arising by, under or through you.
2. Events of Default: place a lien on your property.
So, nowhere in the contract does it state Vivint would put a lien on my property. If I was told that during the negotiations, I would have not agreed to the absurd contract.

Our spacious house has 1,600-plus square feet and it has an open ceiling design so it takes quite a bit of electricity to use during the summer. The representative from Vivint Solar was courteous and very professional. He got to the point on what it was about concerning of the design of the house and where it’s facing, where the panels would be, and how much power it would produce. We would be able to not only suffice our usage but also generate a lot of power that we could have. We can keep it and be able to either sell it back or just have plenty of energy to use, but would not be paying our suppliers and having high bills all the time.
We asked the rep to give us a few days to think about it. I had to explain how going solar would be more positive than negative to my wife. We decided to go with a power purchase agreement. I'm very satisfied with my decision to go solar. Prior to him, I was never approached by others with the same type of approach. They were more forcible in trying to get me to quickly agree on a 30-year purchase that I was not ready to get into. My experience with Vivint Solar was great. It gave us optimism and a feeling of well-being because we made a positive move not only to help ourselves but the environment.

I had thought of going with solar energy for years and I resisted it because I knew there were better systems coming up. When Brent the salesman came to my door, he convinced me that Vivint was the best. He's a very nice young gentleman and so far, I've had a good experience with Vivint. Enrolling was very easy and it wasn't frustrating at all. Brent did all the work and whenever I had a little problem, like when we were repairing the roof, I’d give him a call and he’d jump right in. While we've just been producing energy, I’m happy with my decision to go solar with Vivint.

I was interested to put solar panels and the other companies always offered me a lease. With Vivint Solar, their panels belong to them. I was living in California and I had a solar panel for the pool and it was a big mess. With Vivint, they have their own insurance and enrolling with them was very easy. They checked my credit report. I worked with a man named Henry and he was very professional and attentive.
Vivint called me when they were going to come to install the solar panels and they installed them very well. Plus, they didn’t bother me in the house at all and it looked like the panels are working. They just connected the service last month. I just got the bill now and it's not too much different than before. One is a little bit lower but they are charging me two bills together. One is Nevada Power and the other one is Vivint. They told me that I’m going to save about 20%. But my electric bills here in Las Vegas is about 300 a month and $50 less is good. All in all, my experience with Vivint Solar was very good.

The worst company to deal with in regards to fixing a issue. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. It takes them forever to deal with a issue. I have been dealing with this company for over 2 years on a problem with our solar panels. For 2 years we paid them monthly for the use of the first set of solar panels. It wasn't until we had a issue with the panels that the service guy and went up on the roof that we were told that the panels were not hooked up and that it is why our PG&E bill was running very high. When we were told about problem I called solar about this. And so have been fighting with them over the fact that they owe me money and that they will not refund the money that they owe me for 2 years. I need this issue resolved.

I’m retired and on budget and I figured I’d see what solar energy services for our home would do. The Vivint Solar salesman came in and talked to us. He was nice and he did his job. He did the research over the year of electrical use here and he talked about how he could save us around $90 a month. The only thing he didn't tell us was that we’d still be on the grid and pay $12.50. I called the company and they said, “Yeah, well, he could have said something as well.” I assumed I wouldn’t have any more Nevada Energy bills, but I understood that the power got to go somewhere when we don’t use it.
The installation was all good, although it seemed like forever. Nevada Energy dropped the ball and we had everything ready to go. We waited around and it finally got done. We spoke when we got the last bill from Nevada Energy. We were thinking there would be one more bill because we probably used some of their energy with the way the weather was. The only thing I really had a disagreement with was they cut the hell out of my siding out. It was cut too big and they sent someone in to fix it. When they brought the stuff in, the guys did the best that they could with what they had. However, the only way it is gonna look any better is if the house gets painted, and it won’t be for a while.
We had a gentleman come and he said he had to inspect the roof. Another one came and said, “Well, I’m here to repair a couple of shingles up there.” He had come back the next day because he found a couple more he needed to do. It was a long process from what they told me would take place. But so far, all the people at Vivint Solar have done their job and the inspectors have been good. As far as the installation, the guys were all pleasant and I had no problem with anybody.
Hello Rusty. We are sorry for your frustrations with the fixes that were done on the siding but we are happy to hear the overall process seemed to be a positive one. If you have any questions or concerns you can call us. Thank you.

So far, my experience with Vivint Solar has been good. Their guy came around, knocked on the front door, and introduced himself. There’d been a lot of other guys knocking at my door, too, from other companies, but Vivint Solar was a better deal. Enrolling was kind of high-pressure but the rep was just doing his job. The installation went really simply. I was afraid of a roof leak, but it didn't. We’ve had enough rain out here to show that Vivint didn't mess up the roof.
I kept bugging Vivint's customer service because PG&E electric wouldn’t hook me up. They put me on a waiting list, and it took a couple months, which I understand is still going on. The guy across the street from me just got Vivint and he was told two months after they installed it before PG&E would accept the power. I’m now off the waiting list. It was around Christmas time when PG&E started accepting the solar power that I was generating. But it took about two months. I hope there would be quicker acceptance by the power company. That hurts not only me in terms of savings, but it also hurts Vivint. They got that money out there for the panels and not getting anything.

We have known people that had Vivint Solar for years. When the opportunity to have one came up, we decided to have it done because we are full-time residents. Vivint offered to save us a little money in the summer with our electric bill. Also, the idea of getting the same monthly charge every month is more convenient than up and down like we usually go. The people we worked with were wonderful. They have been really good. Every time they come out, we had somebody different, but they've been very efficient. In fact, they finished doing the work so we've never had to call them. Since going live, our electric bill has gone down, so we know it is working.

I have had an issue since November of 2018. 6 months have gone by and my situation is now worse. Water got into my home and ruined my kitchen. The roof is leaking and they have yet to resolve the issue. All I get is a run around. I have had a claim outstanding for 6 months and still no response. When you ask to speak with a supervisor they are always busy and no one calls you back. Be very careful when choosing a company. I would never recommend them. They do not stand by their word and they will make you liable. I have 28,000 in damage and it is all due to the installers being on the roof and installation.

I had thought that solar energy might be a good option, but I wasn't sure I was ready for it right now cause who knows, in a year we might get all free solar from everything. But the salesman of Vivint was wandering around the neighborhood, and just happened to strike up a conversation with me, and that's how I heard about it. The guy looked familiar and I believe he had been working as a solar rep The Home Depot, where I also work.
The enrollment process with Vivint was very easy. Neil, the rep, went through things very well, showed things the way it should look very well. The design of it seemed to be practical. However, when you're looking at changing something and you have to also look at existing stuff and upgrade for current codes, it was a pain in the neck. They wanted to move my electrical panel because it was in the stairway of my deck. I said it was an upgraded panel. It just passed not too long ago. They said, "Yeah. But for this, it has to be this." I was like, "When I move my stairs, I'm not gonna move my panel." So, we did that and I did that in-house to be able to make it so that I didn't have to spend the extra money to move the panel.
The way Vivint structured the design made sense to transition from paying Xcel Energy to be able to able to pay for the loan on the system. It seems okay right now, but not having any history of what I'm gonna be getting from Xcel versus what I'm gonna be paying for the loan is still a little problematic. But after a couple of months, I'll have something to be able to compare it to and I think it'll be good. Right now, I’m still waiting to see.

And I liked how their reps were on time, prompt and how they were with me when I met with them. Getting started with Vivint Solar was easy. So far, I'm satisfied with my decision on going solar. I read up on one of the other solar programs that used to be number one but they got in a bit of trouble. I guess they were starting to buy parts that weren’t up to par and I thought I got a better deal with Vivint. I was also impressed with the salesman. My wife made an appointment and he came, sat here and explained everything. He was here for three hours. Aside from that, there wasn’t a question he didn’t look into and if he didn’t know the answer, he would look into it and tell us what was going on. When we had one problem right in the beginning, Vivint also sent somebody out the very next day and took care of the problem. I was impressed that somebody came out so fast.
But it took a long time for them to turn the system on. We started at the beginning of October and we did not get the right to turn it on until some time in January. In February, I looked to see if they took any money out of my account and they did not. The issue was not Vivint though. It was the town. If I knew it was gonna be that long, I would have tried to influence the town to come out faster. Still, I am satisfied with the decision to go solar and I already recommended a couple of people to Vivint. I told them to ask for a certain salesman because Josh was excellent.

There are still a couple that I'm waiting on. He said that my electrical panel will be upgraded and that hasn't happened yet. Also, there was a referral, where I referred Vivint Solar to a co-worker and he's already gotten and done the inspection. They've gotten as far as installing the unit at his place. The Vivint Solar sales representative came to the door a year before when only my wife was home. He came back for another year and then he started talking to me and named neighbors that knew me or friends that I had that were getting solar. He was prepared and our interaction went well. The environment and the rate were the biggest things that made me decide to get solar services, and I've had it running for about a month now. I was even talking to someone I work with about the possibility of them getting Vivint Solar.
The only thing I don't understand now is how to look at the new panel and see if anything is even doing anything. Somewhere in the process, I was shown how many panels out of how many are working. But when I go out there, there is nothing on the screen at all. I am thinking if I really got something started when I lifted the lever or if I was still status quo. I would like to see how the thing works again and have someone go over that as well. I played phone tag with my salesman a couple of times, but it is not worrying me to the point that I wanna go out.

Last summer sales rep. Conor ** visited and signed us up with Vivint Solar. By October, installation of the panels was completed and the work crew were superlative, doing the work in one day - as promised. Then came the wait to go live. We were told December. By January we were still waiting and we began to get some vague assurances about going live, with delays due to variously named "net meters," "reverse meters," "smart sockets," and so on. Eversource Rep "Paul" stepped in and started a better ball rolling. Vivint gave us several end dates including January, February 1, February 15 and February 20 (I think it was).
Finally, after many emails and phone calls to Vivint and Eversource, our electrical supplier, we finally went live on Feb. 27. I placed a call to Conor ** on the 27th requesting information about how to read the meters, what I should know, who do I call if something doesn't work, etc. I'm not an engineer. Still waiting for Conor to return my call 2 days later (he wasn't prompt about answering emails either). Thus, I have to thank Eversource and only Jason at Vivint for finally making this happen. But what's up with Conor and Vivint in general in terms of "timely" customer service? Disappointed that it's taken over 4 months since installation to go live. I've seriously considered a lawsuit, but have backed off now that we are "supposedly" up and running. Not as good an experience as it should have been.
