Reviews about customer service and support

Sunrun products

Sunrun’s products include solar panels, battery storage and backup power options.

Solar panels

Sunrun solar panel systems are customized for your home’s needs, and its panels feature high-efficiency photovoltaic cells.

Reviewers often say Sunrun’s solar panels produce plenty of power and lower their electric bills, but some report underperforming systems, poor panel placement or long periods with little to no production. A smaller number mention roof leaks, wildlife damage and other installation-related problems.

Battery storage

Home battery systems can store excess solar energy for use during outages or at night. Sunrun offers solar battery storage options through Tesla, Lunar Energy and FranklinWH.

Reviewers often like Sunrun’s batteries for seamless backup power and using stored solar energy at night. Complaints tend to focus on high costs, failed batteries, slow repairs and sales promises that don’t match how the battery actually works.

Backup power options

Through its partnership with Ford, Sunrun offers equipment that can let a compatible F-150 Lightning power your home during an outage. Sunrun also offers the SPAN smart electrical panel, which lets you monitor and manage your home’s energy use and battery backup.

Sunrun costs

Sunrun doesn’t disclose its specific costs online, though it does offer financing options. The average solar panel system costs around $25,000, according to Sunrun. Your actual price depends on the size of your system, equipment and other factors. Based on recent reviews, Sunrun’s solar panel equipment costs are above the industry average, with reviewers reporting that their final costs were higher than they initially expected.

“I thought we were buying about $20,000 worth of equipment, but it ended up being closer to $40,000,” Jed in Texas said. Jed also pays about $60 a month in utility delivery charges and around $200 for electricity during two summer months.

Lystra in Florida paid $54,000 for a system designed to cover 85% of their electricity use, including a backup battery. They said the battery itself cost about $9,000, plus installation.

On the higher end, Rich in California said their Sunrun solar system cost $60,000.

Typical costs by solar system size

Solar system costs tend to vary depending on the size of your system, which is measured in kilowatts (kW). Here are some typical costs, according to our research.

Sunrun payment options

Sunrun offers leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and solar loans. You can also buy your system outright.

With a solar lease, you make monthly payments to use the system, and Sunrun typically handles maintenance and repairs. With a PPA, you pay for the electricity the system produces instead of buying the panels.

What to know about Sunrun contracts

Sunrun contracts can vary depending on how you pay, so it’s important to understand the terms before signing. Here are some details to watch closely.

Contract length. Sunrun leases and PPAs can last 20 to 25 years. Some reviewers said they didn’t fully understand how long they were committing for when they signed.

Annual increases. Reviewers commonly report annual payment increases of about 3% to 4%. Over a long contract, those increases can add up, so compare future payments with what you expect to pay your utility.

Production guarantees. Not every agreement works the same way. Check whether your contract includes a production guarantee, how often performance is reviewed and what happens if the system falls short.

Selling your home. A lease or PPA can make a home sale more complicated. Depending on the contract, the buyer may need to take over the agreement or the system may need to be bought out. Some reviewers report delays during this process.

Sunrun solar installation process

Sunrun handles most of the process, from system design to permits and final approval. The installation itself may take only a day or two, but the full process can take much longer.

1. Go over options with a representative

A Sunrun representative will go over your energy use, system size, battery options, costs and available incentives.

2. Sunrun designs your system

Sunrun may use satellite imagery and a site survey to plan panel placement and estimate production. This is also a good time to make sure your roof is in good condition, since replacing it later can require removing and reinstalling the panels.

3. Sunrun submits permits

Once you approve the final design, Sunrun submits the required permits. This can take several weeks, depending on your location.

4. Installation actually starts

Sunrun or a certified installation partner will mount the panels, connect the equipment and test the system. Reviewers often praise the installation crews for being professional and efficient, with many jobs completed in one to two days. A smaller number report roof leaks or other installation-related problems.

5. Get inspection and approval

Local inspectors and your utility may need to approve the system before it can be turned on. Some reviewers say this step took weeks or months, so ask for an estimated permission-to-operate date, not just an installation date.

Sunrun FAQ

Where is Sunrun available?

Sunrun is available in 21 U.S. states, as well as Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois

How much does a Sunrun service call cost?

Service is generally included with leases and PPAs. If you bought your system, labor coverage may expire, and some reviewers report service-call quotes of about $500 to $760. Check your contract for post-warranty fees.

Do I still pay Sunrun if my system isn’t producing?

It depends on your agreement. Lease and loan payments generally continue while a system is offline. With a PPA, your payment is based on how much electricity the system produces. You may still face a higher utility bill while the system is down.

What happens if I need a new roof?

Sunrun can remove and reinstall the panels, but homeowners usually pay for it. Reviewers report costs ranging from several thousand dollars to more than $20,000, so it’s smart to replace an aging roof before installing solar.

Can I get out of my solar contract with Sunrun?

You generally can’t get out of a solar contract early with Sunrun if you have a lease or PPA. If you need to end your agreement, your primary options are to transfer it to a homebuyer or prepay the remaining balance. If you own the system, you may include it in your home’s sale or choose to remove it at your expense. At the end of your agreement, Sunrun offers the choice to renew your lease annually, purchase the system or have it removed at no cost.

What happens with my Sunrun system if I move?

What happens with your Sunrun system if you move depends on whether homebuyers are interested in retaining your solar system. Sunrun allows you to transfer your solar service agreement to the person who buys your home through a streamlined process involving contact verification, digital signatures and a soft credit check. If the buyer declines the agreement, you can prepay the remaining balance and include the system in your home’s sale.

Why is my Sunrun bill so high?

Your Sunrun bill may be high if you have the wrong size system for your energy usage or if your system is underperforming.

Has Sunrun been sued over its sales practices?

In July 2024, the Connecticut attorney general sued Sunrun and several sales partners, alleging forged signatures, impersonation of customers and other deceptive sales practices. Sunrun said the representatives involved were not employees and that it stopped accepting accounts from them in 2023. The case is still pending, and the allegations have not been proven.

Still have questions?

Is Sunrun legit?

Sunrun is a legitimate solar company founded in 2007. It installs and services residential solar systems across much of the U.S.

Legitimacy isn’t the most useful question here, though. The better question is about what customers experience after signing up.

For instance, Robert in Nevada said his installation was seamless and his monthly costs dropped substantially.

Denise in Illinois had the opposite experience: Her panels were installed in April 2026 but still weren’t producing months later, even though payments had started.

Before signing, pay close attention to the contract length, annual price increases, production guarantees, service fees and the condition of your roof.

Is Sunrun worth it?

Whether Sunrun is worth it depends on your contract, system performance and local electricity rates. Some customers report incredible savings. Others say their combined solar and utility costs were higher than expected, and the system isn’t really worth it financially.

Sunrun may be worth considering if you want flexible payment options, but pay close attention to contract length, annual price increases and expected production before signing.

When customers save

Dave in Massachusetts said their monthly electricity costs dropped from about $230 to roughly $100 total. Heather in Arizona said their summer electric bill fell from about $400 to $40.

When savings fall short

Others say the savings didn’t match what they expected. Tymur in Florida said their combined solar and utility costs sometimes reached $240 to $250 a month. Albert in New Jersey said they pay about $288 a month for solar and have seen winter electric bills as high as $600.

Other costs to consider

Some reviewers reported service-call fees of around $600 to $700. Drew in Texas said removing and reinstalling panels for roof work was quoted at more than $8,000.

Before signing, look closely at expected production, annual payment increases and any service or panel-removal fees.

I had thousand-dollar PG&E bills and switching to solar was easy. Sunrun did great job. They had to go over the paperwork and make sure I understood. That was a lengthy process, but it was worth it. The following day, the crew was here and hooked it all up. Everything was perfect. I had the installation done in two days. It was excellent and so are the people that we dealt with from Sunrun. We haven't even had the system a year yet, but so far, so good. As much as we've lost our power in where we live, we have never had to go without. So, I'm grateful for that.

Two, three, and four months ago, my PG&E bill was $5 or $3. Now I got a system, our regular PG&E bill is $70. I even got extra batteries for the solar. We've got two big battery panels out there. All winter we used the solar, but not the extent of how we're doing now with the air conditioning running all the time in this heat. So, we're using a lot more, and I can understand the PG&E bill going up if we used all the energy out of the batteries. With PG&E, even if we didn't have solar, they go by what we use. A lot of people say at the end of the year, I'm going to get another bill from true-up. I asked the Sunrun people, "Oh, it's nothing you have to worry about."

What does a true-up even mean? Nobody can explain it to me, but people have told me that. The way it was explained to me by two of the people in the neighborhood that have that, it comes from our solar system, Sunrun. Still, it can't be that much. The lady across street said $145 at the end of the year. That is still well worth not having a thousand-dollar PG&E bill, which is what I was having during the summers. Anywhere from 800 to 1,000. I got grandkids that don't know how to turn off a light, or got to have the air on all the time. It's crazy. My daughter and her kids also live here. This morning, 3 o'clock, I got up and turned off four big lights in the living room and the garage. It all adds up, eventually. I have some time and I'm going to call PG&E today. I don't understand if there's going to be a true-up at the end and I'm waiting to see. I can't complain at all until I find out what true-up is.

I had considered photovoltaic five years before I talked to Sunrun. But at the time, it didn't make economic sense to outlay 30,000 upfront. So, I didn't do it. Then several years passed. We were in a period when we were experiencing intermittent rolling brownouts. I was thinking about the cost of electricity going higher and the uncertainty of it going higher. And when the representatives of Sunrun were talking to me, I was interested in the idea that I didn't have to put any money upfront. All of the costs were included in the monthly cost, and the bill for the system was tied to the home rather than to me personally. The installation was fairly quick and painless. They said they were going to be there on that day, and they were. Everything was done.

The only thing that I'm not quite so happy with is that I live in an area with a strong HOA, and they require that any pipes along the home be painted in the same colors as the home. Sunrun’s installers were quick to do the installation and the guy told me that he would bring a painter in to paint the pipes. The way that my home is, it required that once it went against the back wall, they had to raise it up 15 feet and run it higher. So, if they had just coordinated the painter ahead of time, the painter could have painted the pipes while they were lying on the ground. And it would have been no problem for it to have been up against the house. But this is one thing that has not been resolved.

Tiago, my contact, was very nice. But the painter he sent had an emergency at the last minute and canceled. I called, but he never contacted me again. A few weeks later, I contacted one of the representatives who is the point person for Tiago and she said they would take care of it. But I have never been contacted again. So, I can't close this out with my homeowners’ association. And at some point, if they ever make a fuss about it, I could be in a lot of trouble. It's aesthetics that have to be satisfied for the homeowners’ association, and I don't know what to do with it. The part that is on the backside of my home would require either scaffolding or a ladder to cover.

Tiago was great because he wanted to make sure we got the right amount of panels and batteries. He asked me about my future plans and whether I might have an electric car in the future. Since there's a strong possibility that my next car could be electric, he adjusted the amount of panels to make sure I would have enough electricity to power it at home. He also knew the batteries well. He showed me on the app that I have the latest batteries, and he explained that because better batteries had come out, I could have two batteries with the same capacity that would have required three of the older ones. So, that was good.

The solar energy system has been functioning great. There is an app that you put on your phone but Sunrun is the one who controls when the electricity is not sent to the grid, when it’s used to power up the batteries in anticipation of a storm. I like that because it takes it off of me. It's Sunrun who's watching the weather and the news. I'm one of many customers, but it helps that I don't have to tweak it. Sunrun tweaks it. Someone considering Sunrun should make sure that if they have a homeowners' association with certain rules, they make that very prominent with Sunrun. If I had realized how high they were going to have to move that pipe, I would have suggested bringing the pipe early and bringing the painter in early so they could paint it.

Sunrun was the first one to contact us. It has been a consideration for decades because initially, when they were trying to find ways to harness the sun's energy, what they used to do was have tanks of water and a big cabinet. They would open that up, and it would allow it to take in sun and heat the water was the initial way. You could close that up, and then use that overnight or if you didn't have any sun or heating that day. It could be used that way. So, they just kept on progressing and progressing.

Once it got better, they were able to do it this way, then once it was heard by the public, and I heard about it. I always wanted to have a system in my home. But affordability was a problem because by that time I was about retirement age. So, having extra funds wasn't possible to do that. Sunrun offered to install solar panels on the roof, and Duke Energy was behind it. You could get it done for free, and the maintenance is also free, but you still had to pay. It would still be a saving anyway, even if I didn't own the system myself. So, I took it on because it made sense. It was an opportunity for me, too, to have the service and experience it and actually see if it would be beneficial over time. It has worked good, but I wish I could get the battery installed so that when you do have a power outage, you're not in the dark like everybody else, even though you have the solar panels, and there is some savings involved.

Switching to solar was easy and painless. There are times in the winter time when your bill can be extremely high. But having solar is a constant price every month for what it's going to be, and it's going to be lower those times, much lower than what other residents would have to pay being on the grid. The installation was painless. There was not a whole lot of noise, and there were certain things I wanted that they did. I didn't want to see a whole lot of metal showing, like some installers do when they put it in, you see all kinds of metal holes and pipes. I made sure they knew that I didn't want that on the front side of my house where people could see that coming up the streets. So, that was how they installed it. All of that metal went underneath those panels, over the roof and down to where it connects. So, it is not an eyesore.

The enrollment process with Sunrun was very smooth and the rep was very informative. I had a lot of questions at first and he always took the time to take my calls to make sure I understood and was comfortable with the process. He helped me with getting the permits from the village and all the different steps because there is so much that has to be done in preparation for this. It isn't just slapping it up on your roof. He was great.

The installers were here first thing in the morning. There were several guys here and so much equipment, and they were here for probably eight hours. They were very thorough, and they all had a lot of experience. They were well-spoken and easy to talk to. My representative was here most of the day as well, which was reassuring. It took a while for the electric company to get my electric bill changed over, but I was reimbursed because of the actual date it was installed versus when it went into effect, which was supposed to be right away. They credited that money back to me promptly.

Everything has been functioning perfectly. You don't even know the solar panels are on the roof. There have been times when we've had storms and some of my neighbors lose their power, and I never lose power. Before Sunrun installed the solar panels, they made sure my roof was in good condition. They checked everything, went into the attic, and made sure there weren't any leaks and that the insulation was good. They went through a lot. It isn't just signing on the dotted line to have it installed. They're checking everything out for you. They have your village or city inspector come and check it out, and they're checking on your roof condition.

It's also very easy to communicate with Sunrun. I haven't had to talk to them about anything for quite a while, but when I did at first, it was smooth and easy. There was no pressure and no stress. My representative always returned my calls. He wants it to work for me because of referrals that he wants to get from other customers, and his name is on that, not just Sunrun. Several of my neighbors have signed up since I've had it, and they've all been pleased as well. I'm in a senior community, and whether it's a senior community or not, with the way the economy is, we're all looking out for our bills. Everybody seems to be happy. To me, it's a no-brainer.

I had a construction friend who introduced me to a salesman from Sunrun. We had a really good conversation and I ended signing up with them. The installers were very nice, too. They had a wonderful crew. They figure out your solar panels based on your consumption of electricity and what the panels can produce. But when I did the contract, I paid FPL $25 and whatever Sunrun was charging. So, my expense averaged around 200 bucks. And my initial bill was 183 on an average. But now, FPL raised their base rate from $25 to $32, and my Sunrun bill goes up 3% every year. So, now, I'm paying more, and yet I'm producing enough electricity to power over 300 homes a year. It just seems to be a very poor offset. But it's more on FPL's part than Sunrun's part.

These 27 panels, most of the time, I'm not even on the grid. And the house my size would use an average of around 30 kilowatts. And I'm producing 50 or even more kilowatts per day, yet it doesn't seem to matter to FPL. They're getting all the benefits of me powering God knows how many homes. I'm kind of a producer without any getting anything in return. But as far as the system goes, when I had a couple of glitches, Sunrun was out here right away and took care of it. They've been very good as far as follow-up goes. For the panels themselves, I'm kind of in the middle whether I did the right thing or not. If a hurricane hits, I'll be ahead of the game.

Right now, I feel that with all the electricity I'm producing, I'm really behind. Other than that, I would recommend Sunrun, but they have some really great programs now. Before, it was at the height where Mr. Biden was giving 30% in energy credits, and that went away. But I didn't benefit by it. Sunrun did. If I would have bought the system outright, then I would have benefited by that reduction.

⭐ **1-Star Review – Very Disappointed with Sunrun**. I have been a Sunrun customer for the past 3–4 years, and unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. When I signed up, the sales representative made several promises that did not match my actual experience. I was told that my electric bill would be reduced to around **$30–$35 per month**. However, my bill never consistently went down as promised. Instead, I have continued to receive significant electric bills on top of my Sunrun payments. I was also told that I would receive approximately **$11,000 back from the IRS as a tax refund/credit** and that, after using that money toward the loan, my monthly payment would be around **$128**. That did not happen. I never received the promised $11,000 from the IRS, and my monthly solar loan payment has remained around **$190+**.

As a result, I have ended up paying approximately **$240–$250 per month when combining my Sunrun payment and electric bill**, and at other times my total monthly cost has still been **$140+**. This is nowhere near what I was led to expect when I agreed to the solar system. After 3–4 years, I cannot say that going solar with Sunrun has provided me with the savings that were promised during the sales process. My biggest concern is the significant difference between what I was told before signing the agreement and what I have actually experienced as a customer.

I have tried to understand and resolve these issues, but I am extremely frustrated with the situation. **If this matter is not properly addressed, I intend to file formal complaints with the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the representations made during the sales process and the financial expectations that were presented to me.**

I strongly recommend that anyone considering Sunrun carefully verify **every financial, tax, savings, and loan-related promise in writing** before signing anything. Do your own calculations and make sure you fully understand the solar agreement, loan, electric bill, tax incentives, and total monthly cost. Based on my experience, I am very disappointed and **would not recommend Sunrun without thoroughly researching the numbers and getting every promise documented in writing.**

The biggest mistake I ever made. They sell you the solar system and install it, but they’re not responsible for it afterward. If anything goes wrong, they just tell you to deal with the manufacturer. Then they want to charge $757.75 just to send a technician to inspect and fix it. They’re basically just a third party—they’re not much help when your solar system goes down. It feels like buying a car with a warranty but still having to pay the dealership to diagnose or repair it even though it’s covered.

I had the first eight panels installed a year later. Then I upgraded to the battery system. So, right now, I have 16 panels and two Tesla batteries, and it worked fine in the hurricane. I had power. So, it charged up. It had enough sun to charge them up so that I could last at least three-fourths of the first couple nights. Then the weather cleared up, so there was good sun during the day. I could last all night the last few nights. So, it really worked. It really saved me.

The ability to combine solar with the battery backup is great and that caught my interest in Sunrun’s service. We looked at several companies and they were prominent in our area specifically. With all the turmoil in the industry, they seemed to be a good way to go. They seem to be more legitimate than some of the other companies we talked to. Getting connected with Sunrun was easy, and we ended up dealing with a couple of people, and the process went smoothly. We've noticed a dramatic difference with our SDG&E utility bill but Sunrun itself, as a company, is still there. They still communicate.

People who are interested in Sunrun should do their due diligence and take a good look at them. Get at least another estimate and go from there. This is a $60,000 investment. So, there's a lot of work involved. Just with the design itself, we went through several iterations. So they should take their time. It worked great for us. It's a long-standing agreement, so you want to make sure you're dealing with a company that is likely to be around 25 years from now. Sunrun's financials in a troubled industry look solid.

      Reviewed Sept. 3, 2026

I'm beyond frustrated with Sunrun. Years of equipment issues, poor customer service, ridiculous response times, and now I'm forced to pay for equipment that doesn't function. First, some background. Years ago when we were first working with our salesperson to plan our system, we asked for two estimates in writing - one for the system with battery included, one with no battery. Adding the battery increased our cost by $41 per month. Over the life of the contract, that's nearly $10,000. But our salesperson assured us it would pay for itself -- not only would we have the ability to run some of the house in the event of a power outage, but we'd also be able to store power and sell back to the utility at peak hours which would increase our utility credits and reduce any annual true-up charges. This seemed logical, so we accepted the proposal with battery included.

At startup the battery failed. It was eventually fixed, but later was the subject of a recall that required it to be used at reduced capacity from 2021 until 2023 (Sunrun did issue a small monthly credit during this time to compensate for the reduced capacity, which seemed fair and made the long delay much more palatable). The replacement eventually arrived and we had about 2 years where things finally were running properly.

But in May 2025, our battery went completely dead. Remote fix didn't work, on-site repair didn't work, and a replacement battery went on backorder. Communication was consistently poor. My messages were never returned, and two appointments were mysteriously cancelled after I'd taken time off work to be home (to let the technicians into the garage to access the equipment) because my dead battery "looked good" on their end. After several months, a new battery arrived and was installed, and then failed 2 days later. So the cycle repeated -- another backorder, another long wait, and then eventually another install. All told, the battery was down from May through December - seven months without a functioning battery.

During these 7 months, I inquired about billing -- specifically I asked why were we paying for a battery that wasn't functional? I was informed on two separate occasions that all compensation would have to wait until the new battery was installed -- that only when everything is back up and running would they evaluate what was owed. This seemed odd to me -- why am I paying for a feature that doesn't work? Nevertheless, I had no choice but to move on and hope that Sunrun would do the right thing once the battery was eventually back up.

With the battery finally back online in late December, and with no credits showing up on my January billing statement, I reached out to check the status. At this point, I was informed that no compensation is due because my solar panels generated the power required to meet the solar guarantee. In short, as long as the minimum power is generated, I am not entitled to any compensation for a non-functional battery (they did at one point offer me a one-time $75 credit for my "troubles"). But there is no battery guarantee (it's rather curious that this was never mentioned when I inquired previously -- that instead I was told "don't worry, we'll settle up when the ticket is closed and your system is back up").

There is no offset for my higher true-up bill, which was significantly higher than previous years. There is no compensation for paying for a battery that wasn't available during our three outages last year. I was astonished. I asked a hypothetical -- if the battery was non-functional for the entire remaining 13 years of my contract, would I still have the pay the $41 extra cost every month. The answer is yes, because the only guarantee relates to power generation. In short, paying for a battery doesn't actually guarantee you'll have a battery. Unfortunately the new battery didn't last long. Last month, we had our first power outage of the year and the battery failed to engage. Apparently it had been installed wrong. It was useless. And then hours later it went dead, again.

I contacted Sunrun to get service scheduled. To my surprise, this time the rep seemed eager to help and offered to have somebody onsite within days. I was thrilled that finally I was being treated seriously and cautiously optimistic that maybe Sunrun had turned a corner on customer service. But my optimism was quickly dashed -- mere hours after the appointment was set, a rep called me to tell that my problem had been "mistakenly marked as urgent" and he was cancelling my pending appointment. Nobody would be visiting this week, or the next. In fact the earliest opportunity would be weeks or months away. That was a month ago, and the first visit is still weeks away. In the meantime, I have a battery that has been non-functional for 10 out of the last 17 months, with no end in sight. But somehow Sunrun still manages to get paid for it. And apparently there's nothing that can be done about it.

Just wanna put this out here with all the electric crap all over the Internet and you’re thinking about getting solar. I’ve been fighting with First Vivint now Let me tell you about my experience with SunRun Solar. When we installed SunRun SolarSunrun, we had just purchased the house, so we did not have our own historical electric bills. I asked SunRun SolarSunrun to obtain or use the previous owner’s electric bills so the system could be sized using actual usage. They refused and told me that estimating our future usage was the best way to design the system. Apparently, guessing was considered accurate enough for a solar system costing around $50,000.

I now have 36 solar panels on my roof that I own and pay $288.33 every month for. At this point, they are basically a very expensive paperweight. A couple of weeks ago, Alex from SunRun Solar contacted me with some “exciting news.” During that conversation, she acknowledged that Sunrun no longer sizes systems the way mine was sized because of complaints from customers with situations like mine. So Sunrun now recognizes that the method was flawed—but I am still stuck paying for the system they designed using that method.

The situation became so serious that I was awarded $10,000 through the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. That money was supposed to help cover future payments and the difference between my electric bills and what the solar system actually produces. That sounds helpful until you see the actual costs. The system performs reasonably well during the summer, but once September arrives, the electric bills start climbing. I usually do not get relief again until around April. Some months, my electric bill reaches $600, on top of the $288.33 monthly solar payment. So much for solar saving money.

Sunrun has done nothing meaningful to correct the problem. They relied on an estimate instead of actual usage information, installed a system that does not adequately meet the property’s energy needs and left me responsible for the financial consequences. Solar was supposed to reduce my energy costs. Instead, it has likely caused me to pay substantially more. Stay away from Sunrun. Before signing any solar agreement, independently verify the system size, production estimates, guarantees and every promise made by the salesperson. Once the panels are installed, you may be the one stuck paying for their “estimate"

When I bought my house, it had solar panels on it but the company that was servicing them went bankrupt. This was a brand-new house, and so I wasn't sure what to do. I had several people contact me, but two gentlemen from Sunrun came to the house and explained everything to me. I'm not buying the panels. It's like I'm leasing them. They pay for the panels. They pay for the batteries. They pay to hook everything up. They told me upfront what my monthly bill would be. So, I just have it automatically deducted every month, and it's a steady bill. Then every now and then, I get a bill from Edison if I used more power than the panels charged. The gentlemen were very upfront. I had called them several times with questions, and they were always available to answer my questions.

There were existing panels up there. They said they couldn't tie into those, which was a shame. So, they put new panels up. The only issue I had is when they came to install them, they broke a couple tiles on the roof. Once I realized that, I called them, and they came out and replaced them for me. This is the first time I've ever had solar panels. It was a brand-new house, and it was included in the purchase. It was about a $13,000 extra on the house, but they were already installed when I bought the house. I just knew that solar gave you energy. I had no idea quite how it would be, but I liked the idea that if something goes wrong, because it's their merchandise, they would come out and replace it.

I was a little disappointed with the installation in the beginning because they didn't put up an animal guard. About the second year in, we had a problem where a squirrel got in and was electrocuted, which knocked our service out. We had to have a couple of panels replaced, and then they finally put the guard on. Since the installation, I haven't paid an electricity bill except maybe twice when we had hot summers. I can always assess how my panel is working from my phone, especially since generating normal. I wasn't sure whether I needed more panels or not since it keeps telling me it generates normal. So, I left it at that.

I'm satisfied with Sunrun. Faith, one of the sales representatives was around the area, and she came over and knocked on my door. We started talking about how much I paid on my electric bill. She said that if I added a couple of panels and batteries from Sunrun, I would pay less. My Edison bill hasn't gone up that much. I have the batteries. However lately, it seemed like my panels are not producing like they used to. They're not completely charging my batteries for like say overnight. Apparently, because the lady that I talked to yesterday says that I'm on a program where they'll take out and all, and they'll give me credit for it. Other than that, I don't pay as much as I do with my electricity. Communicating with Sunrun is good and easy because I got the app. If I have any questions, I'll go to the support team. If I want to talk to somebody, right away, I get to talk to somebody about whatever questions I got. I like it.

We’ve had other reps contact us about the Tesla Batteries. When we found out a family member received their batteries from Isaac, we had to make contact him. The way he had presented and explained the program worked, it made sense. And we glad we did it.

I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience with Sunrun. When we originally spoke with a Sunrun representative, my husband was told that although NV Energy rates would increase with inflation, our Sunrun payment would remain around $100 per month and that the solar system would generate enough energy to significantly reduce our NV Energy bill. That has absolutely **not** been our experience. We continue to pay approximately $100 per month to Sunrun, yet we are still receiving extremely high bills from NV Energy. One month, we paid **more than $375 to NV Energy in addition to the $100 Sunrun payment**. At that point, it is difficult to understand the financial benefit of having solar panels at all.

We have even had the panels professionally cleaned, yet the problem continues. Whenever we contact Sunrun, we are repeatedly told that the panels are functioning properly. However, our actual energy bills tell a very different story. If the system is truly operating as it should, then Sunrun needs to explain why our NV Energy bills remain so high. I am extremely frustrated by being told that everything is working properly while the results we are experiencing do not support that claim. We invested in this system based on what was represented to us, and we expected meaningful savings—not to continue paying a substantial amount to both Sunrun and NV Energy.

I expect Sunrun to take this matter seriously, thoroughly investigate the system's actual energy production, compare it with the production that was represented when we agreed, and provide a meaningful explanation and resolution. Simply telling us that the system is functioning properly is **not an acceptable response when our bills clearly demonstrate that something is not adding up.**

We signed with Sunrun less than a year ago and several conditions detailed by the salesperson were not true. The biggest is that we were told that the system would produce enough electricity to more than offset our energy use and the savings would be cumulative with our electricity provider, Eversource. This is not close to true, as we now have to pay two bills, which we were assured we would not have to do. We feel we are the victim of "bait and switch", which I believe is illegal.

Sunrun customer service is poor at best. Their service department schedules any type of maintenance weeks out while your system generates no electricity. We have had the system down for months. The months we usually generate the most. Summertime. A tech came out week ago for 5 minutes. Text me that he had left and the system was working only to find out a week later it stopped again. Now I have an appointment a month later. Do not go with Sun Run.

We experienced a power outage on Sunday and our battery backup system failed to engage. I was told by the representative that Sunrun has no technician on weekend to assist. Instead I had to sign a $700 estimate for a service call and wait until the business week for someone to call and schedule an appointment. Sunrun service after the sale is very poor. Apparently they feel nothing can possibly go wrong on weekends so they don't start for it. My interpretation is that they are to cheap to spend the money to properly staff for weekend service.

My experience involving Mr. ** left me with serious concerns about his judgment, personal boundaries, and integrity. Based on my direct experience, Mr. ** knowingly communicated with an individual who was married and was aware of the marriage and family circumstances involved. Despite that knowledge, the communication continued in a manner that I considered completely inappropriate and disrespectful to the boundaries of that marriage.

What concerns me most is not simply that an inappropriate situation occurred, but the apparent willingness to proceed despite knowing the circumstances. In my view, integrity is demonstrated by what someone chooses to do when they know where the boundaries are—not merely by how they conduct themselves after their actions are discovered.

I am intentionally limiting this review to what I personally experienced and observed. I cannot speak for every interaction Mr. ** has with clients, coworkers, or other families. I can say that my experience caused me to seriously question the judgment, accountability, and values of someone holding himself out publicly in a leadership and sales-management capacity. For those reasons, based solely on my experience, I would give my interaction with Mr. ** one star.

Sunrun knocked on my door and sold me a system that I was specifically told included a battery backup that would not only provide backup power during an outage, but would also help reduce my electricity costs by using the battery to help power my home at night and during periods when solar production is low\. I was also told the grid could utilize the battery and that I would receive credits for participating\.

The system was installed, and within a week I discovered that Sunrun has the software on the battery locked down so the battery simply sits at 100% charge in standby for the utility\. I’m paying roughly $2,000 a year for this battery, yet I’m not allowed to use it to reduce my own electricity consumption\. The only time it is available to me is when the power goes out\.

This was absolutely not how the system was represented to me\. What makes it even more frustrating is that the battery is technically designed to operate exactly the way it was explained to me\. The hardware can do it—the software is simply locked by Sunrun\. The whole point of having a home battery is to be able to use stored solar energy when the sun isn’t producing, including at night or on cloudy days, and potentially reduce your reliance on expensive utility electricity\. Instead, Sunrun appears to prioritize using customers’ batteries as part of its larger virtual power plant/fleet while the customer continues paying for the battery\. If I had known the battery would be software\-locked and unavailable for my own energy savings, I absolutely would not have got it\.

**DO NOT GET THE BATTERY unless you fully understand exactly how Sunrun will allow you to use it\.** Ask very specific questions about whether you can discharge the battery to power your home, participate in time\-of\-use savings, and control when the battery charges and discharges\. Obviously the grid can override this, but to not allow the customer to use the battery they are paying for is ridiculous\!

I feel completely misled about what I was purchasing\. The most frustrating part is that the battery is capable of doing what I was sold—it’s Sunrun’s software restrictions that prevent me from using it that way\. And when I started asking questions after installation, getting a straight answer became nearly impossible\. I wish I had known this before the sales rep signed the contract as me…\.\. yes you read that correctly\! I would have never paid thousands of dollars a year for a battery that essentially just sits there at 100% waiting for a once every ten year power outage, or for the grid to use it…
