Sunrun was a payment I could handle versus electricity during the summer. My Sunrun payment is $159 a month, but PG&E was running around $400 a month. Sunrun saves me quite a bit and keeps the cooler set down no less than 78. PG&E is ungodly expensive. People in a two-bedroom apartment are paying $700 a month if it's a family, which is ridiculous. I'm really conservative. I keep all lights off during the daytime, and in the evening, I have one lamp and my TV on. Sunrun took care of everything with installation. They say to hose off the panels once a month during the summer. I have a window cleaner to spray on my panels and they are clean again. The one little problem was I had to flip the breaker and when I did, that's not what it was marked for. They came out and redid all the marking. I checked and everything was perfect then.
I have recommended Sunrun to friends. They are a plus for older people who don't have a retirement backup. Aside from being on Social Security, I don’t have any added income. I had two husbands who both depleted my retirement account every time I started one. I had no retirement account by the time I retired.

My electricity bill is always very high so I decided to go with Sunrun and switching to solar energy was an easy transition. I’ve seen a difference since the installation. I have had no electric bill for at least nine months, the only time I have an electric bill is in the winter because I put my heat up.

Since having the panels installed from Sunrun, we’ve noticed a decrease in our electricity bill. The presentation was done over the phone and later they sent the guys out to take photos and make sure everything was fine.

Sunrun is the best choice. The guys from Sunrun is what really clicked it. When I started it up, something was wrong, but it was my fault. They came a couple of times, and they even gave me their cellphone numbers. I felt like I was married into the family. I track production on the new app and it’s perfect. But I hardly look at it because what it generates has been almost locked in. I’m in Palm Desert and there are cloudy days here, but everything has been great.

He worked diligently to provide me with a competitive price, closely followed up on each stage of the project, and offered timely support to ensure smooth execution. He kept his commitments throughout the process. Although there were a few unexpected issues due to miscommunication, Christopher addressed them promptly and responsibly. I would avoid this company like the plague. (Kind of like how their customer service department treats customers). My system has been down since March, it is October. I've just been told another 3 months before a new inverter will arrive. (My 3rd inverter). Along with Sunrun's $120 monthly fee, I have to pay APS $400+ a month. You can't get a hold of any type of management. This isn't even the first time it's happened. If you still decide to hook up with this company you're on your own. I would really have to hate someone to recommend this company. 5 on your side is next.

⭐ 1/5 — Buyer Beware: Broken Promises, Unauthorized Changes, and Poor System Performance. I rarely write reviews, but my experience with Sunrun has been deeply disappointing. Sales & Contract Issues: I was promised (in writing/texts) a first year completely free, plus additional equipment. I later discovered a digital signature on a contract I did not sign and an email address I don’t own on the account. And a weird bank information was also used to set up autopay without my authorization. When I raised these concerns, Sunrun told me they found “no fraudulent activity.” The sales rep I dealt with later told me he was terminated and that he had asked Sunrun to apply his commission to cover my first year—yet Sunrun still refused to honor the promise.
System Performance: The system has not met my energy needs. Even with the panels, I’m still paying around $100/month to my utility (TECO), which contradicts the savings I was shown before installation. Resolution Attempts: Despite sharing documentation (texts, emails, screenshots), the company only offered a limited one-year credit, which does not address the alleged unauthorized contract/account changes or the underperformance. Communication has been slow and inconsistent, and I’ve spent countless hours trying to get this resolved.
Bottom Line: In my opinion, Sunrun’s sales process and follow-through were misleading, and the system’s performance has not matched the projections. I’m pursuing further action and will update this review if the company resolves the situation. Advice for others: Document everything, request copies of all signed pages, verify the email on file, and do not proceed until written promises are included in the contract.

Sunrun Sales rep misrepresented all services. Sunrun has breached their own contract to keep people from canceling. You don't save any money with Sunrun. They use dishonest sales tactics and then blame the customer for signing.

This is our first experience with Sunrun but not Solar and I must say it has not been a good one. We bought a new build and got the panels as an incentive. The authorization to operate was given on Sept 19th however our panels is not producing. Until we contacted Sunrun we have not heard a word from them. Contacted them twice and all the can say is that a ticket is in for the problem. I bet if we owed them money our phones would be ringing off the hook. How long does it take professionals that installed your solar to figure out why they are not working? It shouldn’t take long at all. This is totally unsatisfactory!

100% Don't use Sunrun! Sunrun is 100% a scam and don't go with them. They got big with Costco and now they separated and have changed up how they handle customers. Nickel and diming them! Avoid!!! Definitely go with Tesla instead of Sunrun.

My father that at that time was 90 years old and was target. He did know it was 25-year contract for a lease. I am the second owner, and I never sign anything. To take that out they want us to pay 29k.

I first heard about Sunrun through Costco. I was interested in getting solar panels, and the presentation was pretty decent, pretty straightforward. First, a person came and did the study and research and said I was a good candidate. They also saw that my panel needed to be upgraded, and they did that before the installation. It took one day, and it was great. I got about 28 panels.
I’ve been paying Pepco maybe 94 cents during the summer months. I haven’t gotten any credit from Sunrun, though. They were supposed to reimburse me, give me credit. Their app is okay. I see my consumption, but I need to find out more detail like how much or why is it that exactly did I break basically even. I haven’t really find some time to do my research. Because as long as I’m not paying, that means that I’m okay. I just pay the one fee every month for the panels.

We have two houses, and we started one project approximately three years ago. We had solar panels from Sunrun put on both. Everything was done over the phone. The first time was just fine, but the second one on Staten Island, it’s a two-family house, they hooked it up to the wrong level, the wrong apartment. We were the owners. We have a tenant downstairs. They connected it to the tenant’s house, which was kind of stupid.
I was calling screaming because my tenants were getting the good part of it, and I was getting screwed. It took months to fix that, and then they fixed it and failed to turn it on. I went another two months without any results. I actually turned it on myself over the phone with Sunrun.
Everything with Sunrun is a struggle. They didn't put up enough panels in the beginning, I had six panels, but that might be because of the city ordinance limitation. I was still getting my crazy electric bills. It took a year to get more panels. Last week, they were still asking us to finalize stuff that we finalized before. I’m locked into an agreement for 25 years, but I would probably tell a friend to look elsewhere. I'll warn them off.

I was assaulted at a Lowe’s store, that's how I first heard about Sunrun. The presenter, Joe Lynn, was a very nice guy. It was nighttime and I live in a predominantly white neighborhood. The guy was an African American and it was kind of funny watching these two guys walk up to my front door and I’m going, “Who the hell is this?” But they were very nice people with positive attitudes.
The whole thing’s been awesome. Everything went great with the install. I got 16 panels. I signed a contract for 25 years at 80 bucks a month. First year was a buck a month. That was the incentive. But there was no financing. And when I sell the house, it transfers over to the new owners.
Having solar has been a huge difference. I’m making money with it. I can track this thing every day. The Tesla Powerwall app is very informative. It lets me know what it’s putting out, where the energy is going, and how much my house is using. You get credit towards kilowatt hours that you sell back to Con Ed. I’m not paying for any power from Con Ed at all, just the minimum carrying bill they use to supply the house which is 50 bucks a month. It’s been nothing but positive. I would recommend Sunrun to anybody.

The Sunrun representative, Colby, was very reliable and kept coming and helping us answer our questions. I will say he was very helpful, that probably made us chose Sunrun over other companies. The installation took about a couple of weeks, and now that everything is up and running, we’ve noticed savings on our electric bill.

Sunrun was included with the house by the developer. They were the company that they were affiliated with. I’m paying 0 right now for electricity. Overall, Sunrun is very good.

Sunrun is great, and I love them. Every time I reached out, I had some more panels put on my roof. I purchased a home that had 18 panels on the roof already, but it was not enough. So, I leased twice totaling to 21 more panels with two backup batteries. It is a game-changer. I have noticed a huge difference in my electric bill. Last Summer, my bill was 700$. This summer, it was $80. Also, the price of the lease is comparable to what is out there. Everybody always did everything that they said they were going to do. They were attentive. Starting solar takes a good six months, but I’m super happy.

My brother used Sunrun and gave me the rep’s contact information. I gave them a call and they came out. We went over the different plans and options that were for me, for owning and not owning and what was in my budget and my usage of electricity, what I have in my house, if I had an electric car, and so on and so forth.

Sunrun was included in the house that we bought. They said that its solar is gonna be Sunrun. As of this time, I haven’t been paying PG&E because of the solar. The hardest part was I could not understand how to turn it on. I thought someone would be coming to demonstrate, but they only sent me an email with pictures. I try to set an appointment for them to come, but it’s like a few weeks after, so I have to figure out how to turn it on until I was able to. I've had a good experience with Sunrun. We were able to save a couple of months because of the solar panels.

Sunrun is an irresponsible, unprofessional group of scammers. Their systems never works and when it does it constantly is in need of maintenance. They are not responsive and while their system is not functioning, you will be paying high electric bills. And at the same time you will be paying their high equipment lease payments too. Don’t get close to these guys. They are a bunch of crooks.

It was the worst thing I have ever done is to allow Sunrun to put solar on my house. They told me which was a lie that they were working with PG&E, which is my power company and that my bill would only be 162$ and of course the percentage increase every year, and my electricity bill from my power company. Would be $12 and change. Which was a lie they get paid by the government to do the installs but they don’t put enough panels on the home to allow for the usage that you use. They say that the battery less 24 hours to 36 hours it doesn’t even last six hours. When I first put the system in my breaker keep popping. They told me that they would come out and it would be no cost to me, that they would take care of the bill if there was any repairs.
They did repairs and they sent me a 500 and something dollar bill, And they said that they never said that. And you call the electric company and then you call Sun run, and they both have the same story we’re not affiliated with each other. But they said that they were working together in the beginning. The salesman hurries you through the paperwork, swear to you about everything that comes out of their mouth.
They’re always in a hurry. So I had to suggest that you take the time to read the paperwork and go over everything because now I pay approximately $200 more a month for my electricity and I did in the beginning. My highest bill used to be in the $240 range. Now I have a $260 electric bill and $167 solar bill. I called and asked him to install the seven more panels that are needed to produce the kilowatts needed and now they wanna charge me extra for that so apparently that’s their scam. Don’t get scanned or taken advantage by this company. I highly suggest not doing the solar install with them.

Customer service is abhorrent! They were just giving me the runaround. Billions of emails are sent every year with a 99.99% success rate but somehow the 3 emails sent to them never went through. It took months to fix something covered under warranty. Go elsewhere for your solar needs.

We initially contacted Sunrun for our first system in 2023 at our home in Beverly, MA. We decided with Mike **'s guidance to install a second system at our son's house in 2025 in Salem, MA. The communication and expertise shown, especially in our most recent installed system in 2025, was excellent throughout. We were concerned about some electrical and roofing improvements needed prior to the installation, but Miike found solutions and the whole process took only 3-4 months. Your installation and support staff are also exceptional! We haven't paid anything to Nat Grid in almost 3 years!

My system was out from March 2025 till September 12th (Sunrun is supposed to be monitoring the system). I have been getting bills from my electric company, which sunrun is not reimbursing me for!!! Over $1500 paid to the electric company which I was responsible for!!! Do not use them!!! Go with someone else!!!

I had to redo my roof due to an old patch that the insurance company wanted me to fix. My roof wasn't leaking before Sunrun did my roof and now it is, and they said that wasn't their fault. I’m stressed out because whenever it's raining, it is like a disaster. The guy offered me cash to apply to Sunrun to get solar panels. When the roof was about to get done, he said he was the one taking money from his pocket to get my roof done. I was confused about that. He was unprofessional, very nasty and rude. That person cannot be working for the company. He never picks up my phone when I call and doesn’t talk to me anymore.
I'm about to get a lawyer because Sunrun treated me badly, and had I known this, I would never have taken that company to get my roof done. When I contacted them before, it seemed like they decided not to get my roof fixed. And it needs to be fixed because my ceiling can fall. The work was sloppy. Somebody was looking at the roof the other day and it’s already lifting. It was a bad experience with Sunrun and I don't refer people to them anymore. I’ll find a company that can do it for me.

I am very happy with my experience with Sunrun. All their people whom I had dealt with were exceptional. From Kim, who started this project with me, Ian and his installation team, who had the install done in one day, and Jennifer, whom I am still in contact with final details since my system went ‘live’ two days ago. I look forward to lower electric bills next year since we will have to ‘change the clocks again’ and sunlight will be decreasing.
I chose to go the leasing method with no out-of-pocket expense to me and I felt that was the right choice for me, and knowing that when time comes for my home to be sold, the new owner will have choices as to continue with the lease, buy the system, or have it removed. Again, Sunrun and their people will work with you, answer any questions in a quick timeframe and are a pleasure to work with.

I am so disappointed with Sunrun. My friends and I talked about our experience with them and they said, “They are good only in installation. But if there is problem, they are not answering us." It's the same thing with us. We need to ask for more assistance from Sunrun, and they have yet to appear to us since the system was installed. We've called so many times, and we did the email as well, but nothing happened.
With the system that we have now, our light will only be on for another 15 minutes if there is a power outage, so what's the point of having solar? The current system is not possible for us. Maybe we need to add more panels or add some battery, or maybe there is a need for the panels to be cleaned because we are not happy with the result.
We need somebody to come here because we are adding some additional AC and we have additional panels that are not yet put in. We hired licensed electricians, but we don't allow them to touch the unit because the Sunrun people said before not to to do that without their people. We cannot tap the additional panels on because we keep on calling and they are not giving us attention at this time. When people ask if Sunrun is good, we say no because we are not happy with the system. We are unsatisfied customers.

I googled the reviews online and there were pretty positive reviews about Sunrun. When I first got the solar set up, they came out here and were really nice to work with. I’ve been with them for about three years now. Their customer service is good. I've never had a problem. And when I've had issues, I’d call them. They resolved my issues very quickly, as best they could.

I was looking to eliminate my power bill. I signed up with Sunrun. I got 12 panels and the installation went very well. They were done in a day. The solar does take care of what I use, but it doesn't make enough to pay the base charges like I thought it was supposed to. Also, you never have ownership of the panels. It turns out to be a lifelong lease with them.

I've seen Sunrun inside of Lowe's, and I trust Lowe's, so I decided to go with them. However, my experience has not been very good. I got solar and I still pay electricity bills. And I was having high electricity bills. When I asked Sunrun if I could buy another battery, they told me no because I just had the solar installed. So now I have a Sunrun bill and it's $100.60 something plus Southern California Edison. It's like I didn't even put solar. The electricity bill is a bit lower, but with the bill from Sunrun, what I’m paying is almost the same.

One of the contractors Sunrun used messed up our roof and we had leaks. One of which we've called and they still haven't fixed. They also used another subcontractor to put in the electric panel and they wired some of our sockets reversed. It cost us $2,000 to have it fixed. It was not good. Sunrun didn't tell us the truth about the cost as well. They said $50 a month but they didn't tell us there was a $100 surcharge also. We live on our disability and Social Security and that didn't help. We had to take that amount out of our food money. Overall, we're saving some money, but not as much as we would 'cause we're paying out that extra $100 a month that they didn't tell us about.

Sunrun's customer service has been good. I'm happy. I had to pay some money for the installation, but my experience was very good. I saw some changes in my electric bill the first time for the first system. On the second system, I did not. But based on the production, I should be good.

I saw Sunrun at Costco, but I didn't talk to them there. I saw them at a couple of places. I thought they looked good. They came out to look at the roof and checked inside the attic, and told me they would put the system on both sides. They installed it quickly, and within a day. It saved me some money and it's more constant now. My electric bill would have been a bit more in the winter, maybe a bit less in the summer.

I got some basic information about Sunrun through a blurb at Costco, and then they did an official presentation at my house. I also had Sunrun at my other home 12 years ago. The installation this time around was done in about four to six of hours. But from that point until the energy did its thing took two weeks. Being that it sends the energy, it was within reason. Sunrun mentioned how long it would possibly take and it was well within their estimate.
I'm happy with Sunrun, but I don't like that these solar companies charge you an astronomical amount for the installation. The installation should be a set price, but they charge you based on how much you use and not what they're installing. In other words, if my monthly bill averages $200 a month, that's how much it's gonna be. So, it wasn't much of a savings monthly, but it's a game that all these solar companies play. Overall, Sunrun has been really good.

Sunrun had the no-upfront-cost offer in Costco and it was very easy to sign up. The first time, we went with just the panels, then a few years later, we went with more panels and the storage. They told us when we got it to set up the Tesla app for the batteries, and I have the Sunrun app on my phone too. I used them during setup and I look at the power usage. Overall, we're very satisfied. We were seeing the cost savings with just the first set of panels, but it wasn't where we liked it, so we were gonna get some more and then thought, “Go ahead and do the batteries also.” The cost is still a little high, but we very much believe solar’s the way to go for everybody.

I have noticed a big difference since using Sunrun. However, it was not thoroughly explained to me before they put the panels on. They need to be more thorough in explaining to you. Because when I saw on my bank statement, “Sunrun, $128,” it's okay, ‘cause I understand, but the rep didn't explain that part to me. Neither did he explain when it says no-cost solar. They also should have explained the placement of the panels. I would love to have known, because it doesn't cover the whole roof. It's just the parts and portion of it. But other than that, I'm satisfied so far with my experience with Sunrun.

Our light bills were extremely high. My friend had Sunrun and their installation was free so we went with them. We've been running on solar maybe about seven months now. And I can see the difference in the air is -- where your house collects a lot of dust, we don't have that anymore. As far as the energy, it's good. Some of my lights blew out at first, and I had to replace them. But other than that, it's fine. I didn't have problems with solar.
If I had any questions, I'm still able to go back and ask. Like for instance, I noticed that when the lights were going out, I called and their rep told me to change them, that they shouldn't go out again. And that was true. They didn't go back out. It'll be a full winter this time. People said they had blackouts over here. I ain't having any blackouts. I have installed a backup.
The price that I have to pay is fine. My light bill is extremely much, much lower now. During the summer, it would be easy $300 to $400 a month, and it's just my husband and me. I got three bedrooms, and because of the way my house is built, we have sectional heating, our energy bill is running more during the summertime. The last bill we got was $20. I haven't experienced it yet, but they said by the year end, Commonwealth Edison will present us a check for the energy we didn't use.

I recommended Sunrun, but people are still a bit scared about it. When I had Sunrun installed, the customer service was great. They told me that even if the electricity was off, the system wouldn't go off. I wouldn't be without electricity. Yet the other day, the electricity went off and my system went off, too. I didn't have electricity. I called Sunrun and they told me I needed a battery. I asked, "Why didn't you put the battery if I said at the beginning that yes?" They said, "Florida Power & Light doesn't let us to put it on." "Why didn't you tell me from the beginning? So I wouldn't expect to have electricity when the electricity goes off." It was a big damage because of the lightning.
I called my reps and asked if I needed maintenance on the system. At the beginning, they told me that any maintenance would be done by them, and that a year after they installed it, they would come and see if everything worked correctly, but nobody came. They also told me, "We are not there anymore with them. We are separate from Sunrun." I called Sunrun, and they told me that doesn't need any maintenance or any washing. But it makes sense because it rains so much in Miami. They should tell us things that we must know because somebody came and made me feel I was ignorant about maintaining those things. If not, they are gonna get damaged.

I pay $148 a month for Sunrun’s system and my PG&E bills are 70 bucks. My bills have been significantly lower. I don't have air conditioning but normally, I'd be paying $400 on PG&E bills, and they raise the rates continually. Sunrun increases the charges on an annual average but it's nowhere near the percentage rate that PG&E does. So, I'm very happy with that. The app provided by Sunrun allows me to monitor my usage along with my annual and monthly billing, to make sure everything is okay.
Sunrun’s rep came by and tried to get me to put a battery system in. But I explained that I'm 75 years old, and I have a generator and I don't need to spend that kind of money on a battery system. We live in a suburb and usually, we have very few power outages. Once I explained it to them, they left me alone. So, Sunrun’s reps just call in periodically to know how the system's working and if I have any issues and concerns.

Sunrun's customer service was good. They were very helpful. The only thing was we didn't get a battery bank, so that when there is an emergency, it snaps over to the battery bank. Since we didn't really know much about solar, we didn't know that that would be a good idea. We wish that we had done that. We can't count on the solar panels on cloudy days or rainy days since there's not as much solar energy on those days.

Customer service is poor and they won't repair the system or meet contract obligations. My system had been down for a month, and they state they would have someone come do an inspection and made me sign off on it. Have not heard back from them and customer service won't provide an update. System is under warranty but they want to charge $500 for the inspection, even though their monitoring equipment tells us all exactly what the issue is.

I was solicited to get solar panels and I did both of the options Sunrun offered. They're working very well. They had to do some additional repair work that they did not realize initially, but they took the entire burden on themselves to do that. It was very impressive. The price was also as good as they could manage considering the issues.

So far, we like having solar energy very much. An insurance inspector came to inspect our house. And then he said that our house is perfect for a solar energy. We're definitely saving money with having Sunrun solar panels installed. We finally got it up and running in September, two years ago. We started seeing a little bit, but it wasn't until the next spring. One downside we have with it is the snow. It just doesn't melt off, and it doesn't slide off because our roof is not terribly pitched. And with the snow, we lost quite a bit of usable time with that. That’s a problem that we wanna look into before the next winter.

Going with Sunrun sounded like a very good deal because even if I lost power, I would still have a battery with some power in it. It would keep me going. Plus, it didn't cost me anything for Sunrun to put up the system because all the equipment belongs to them. The only thing it cost me is what I pay for my power every month. They took an average of what I was paying before and it's a reasonable amount.
The rep, Xavier, was topnotch. He was the one that talked to me in the beginning, in the middle and towards the end. He helped me find things for my app and got them on there. He was very helpful. Sunrun was also really good about getting things done and they got them done quickly. They said that installation usually takes months and it was only a matter of a few weeks. I was able to get the system here installed and so far, I really like it. I have power. One time, they lost some power in the neighborhood and I still had some.

Sunrun had a street team on our street and they stopped by at our house. My wife talked to them, and then we set an appointment. Through the whole process, Sunrun was very open and honest. The service has been on since March, and through July, we haven't paid anything. We still have a credit. We should be getting our electricity bill very soon for August. I looked at the meter a couple of weeks ago. I think we're gonna have another big credit in August because we didn't have the air conditioning on. So, that's a good thing.

I reached out to Sunrun several times because I couldn't use the Tesla backup system. They attempted to assist me, but when their rep came to my house, he just encouraged me to buy the system and never followed up, even after I expressed my need for help. Numerous calls to their customer service went unanswered, and though one lady seemed eager to assist, it was clear I needed in-person support. I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience.

The Sunrun solar panels are working very well. They're very helpful. The Sunrun rep was also offering 1,000 to everybody who got a customer and it concerned me when I learned about other customers who had not had their connections set up even after a year of getting the panels.

My Sunrun system broke down. I got it in April and it's not charging. I tried to get ahold of Sunrun's guy, Jim, to come fix it, but I can't get ahold of him. He showed up once and he started charging it, then it worked for about three days. I haven't talked to Jim since. Overall, Sunrun is a good company. Their customer service is very good, but I'd like for my system to start working. It used to be that I could hear it crackling by six feet away charging. Now, I can't hear anything. If the system is not working right, it's costing a little more and that stinks.

I recommend Sunrun to everybody. I like the concept. Sunrun was recommended from a friend and the salesperson was amazing. He provided information in detail. He repeated himself 1,000 times. I had no unanswered questions, and he was perfect. It has only been six months since I switched to solar, but I'm happy. Everybody's bill is skyrocketing. Mine does not. During the summer, my air conditioner runs nonstop because I have a husky at home. I had huge bills during my previous years, around $400 to $450 per month. This summer I only paid $80. Sunrun installed the system correctly to maximize the outcome and it's enough.

Stay away from this scam please. I fell into the hands of false advertisement, signed 25year lease which the liar made sure it was under my spouse name who was not present at the time, lied to me that if I sell the house or not satisfied, they will remove the panels. I have complaint several times, but they walk on top of me and tell me whatever you were promised is between you, and the salesman.
I reached out to the salesman, and he literally pulled the middle finger. System underperformed recently, and they come to fix when they feel like it. I pay $161 plus over $200 APS and before solar, the highest APS bill was around 300. The SunRun rate is not fixed, I started at $158, and they don't tell you that. Recently there is $4 grid fee for solar owners, and I don't get reimbursed. Do not LEASE solar from SUNRUN, buy your own if you want to save money. And yeah, these guys are there to install solar period, good luck with your roof, they do not care, and roof warranty is only few years, not the entire 25 yrs like the solar.

The installation process itself was smooth, and the crew did a great job getting my solar system up and running. However, my experience with the sales process has been very disappointing. During the contract phase, my sales rep, Sebastian **, assured me that I was eligible for a promotion that would cover my first year of solar costs.
Now that the project is complete and I’m finally running on solar, I’ve reached out multiple times regarding this promotion/rebate, but Sebastian has avoided all of my calls. This feels extremely misleading. If Sunrun is allowing sales representatives to promote false promotions just to close deals, that is unacceptable. Customers should be able to trust the information provided when making such a significant investment. I hope Sunrun takes accountability for this and ensures that future customers don’t experience the same issue.

I should go back and redo the ratings on all the Sunrun Customer Engagement representatives and give them all one star only- why: my issue is NOT getting resolved. I spoke to reps on 8/22, on 9/3, on 9/10, and on 9/12. All four very polite and seemed to want to be helpful but not able to explain WHAT HAPPENED and WHY I am not getting my refund and if the issue has occurred before or can occur again.
My charge for July 1 through July 31, 2025, was $858.44!!! The statement claims there was 5,777 kWh which is ridiculous- May was 775, June was 785. I want to know HOW this happened- I now question the integrity of the system and am distrustful of the readings and the billings. I have asked all four times with the service reps I WANT AN IMMEDIATE REFUND! WHY IS THIS NOT HAPPENING! I do NOT, do NOT want a “CREDIT” to my account- but that is what they did. I wanted that money back into my bank account where it was taken from- or a check expedited and sent FedEx to my home immediately. I have requested this FOUR TIMES! I also requested auto withdraw immediately cease. I am forced to be distrustful of the billing, have to scrutinize first and then will pay online or mail a check. Why am I being treated so poorly!

Our Sunrun system has operated for almost ten years with only one issue which was found by Sunrun remotely and fixed quickly and efficiently. The Sunrun billing has been paperless and accurate. Sunrun could offer annual system check/solar panel cleaning plans.

System installed 7.14.24, signed off by Fresno county 7.21.25. Issue 1:system did not start up for 4 months Dec 4.2024 (worst month of the year-dark month). Issue 2: Using their mobile phone app I discovered the battery was not charging for 3 - 4 months. (Sunrun doesn't monitor battery performance just panels) - since day 1. Last thing I expected. Took 5 weeks to have a tech on site to resolve. (reimbursed $75.00). Issue 3: Solar panels under performing. I reported June 10 2025. Tech onsite July 2nd 2025 (no repair at tis time). Techs to repaired showed up Aug 20th 2025 and repair (replaced 4 rsds units - fire protection, 1 per panel/4 panels out of 16 not producing), system less than one year old. (reimbursed $100.00). Note: I notified them by calling and screenshots (25% under zone target - contract perf number minus 10% buffer per agreement).
Going on last 3-4 days, PG&E loving it. 3-4 days to get back to me with a date a tech will be onsite or fixed remotely. Summary: 4 issues since start up 8-9 months ago. Only 24 more years to go with this shit system and service. Xfinity and Pg&e don't even take 6-8 weeks to make a repair. I had to notify them plus request reimbursement

Was assured that they were putting more than ample capacity on my roof to power my existing air-conditioning unit and my future pool Appliance but as it turns out the panels they installed don’t come close to supporting me. I have been fighting with them for three months to no avail. I am getting zero support.

Sunrun is a predatory company with awful customer service. It takes months for even simple issues to get fixed, and they offer no compensation for their failures. Our inverter didn’t work from the very first day we bought the house, and it took them four months to finally repair it. The seller had already bought out the contract because I refused to be stuck with such a worthless agreement. After the long delay, I asked about compensation since they had been paid for electricity they never provided. The response? “No performance guarantee—too bad.” This kind of treatment shows exactly why Sunrun is failing as a company. Unfortunately, it’s not happening fast enough for the customers, they continue to take advantage of.

Had the system since 2015. Was averaging about 200Kwh per month in electric credits. Now down to about 15 on average per month. Called to tell them they have an issue and not communicating to electric company correctly. The electric company and independent consultant verified this. Sunrun wanted to charge me $565 to come out for a service visit. I have never been charged over $80 for any type of service visit. They are total scammers. Stay far away.

Sunrun is a horrible company. But they lie to you. They put enough solar panels at first so that you don't see a bill until summer time. Then you get hit with a $450 bill from aps. And when you bring it to there attention they tell you that you have enough panels and since I don't have a battery, which they said I was going to get and never got. Now they tell me that they are not allowed to give me more solar panels or a battery. Go elsewhere and save your money. Don't let this company scam you like they did to me. Plus they file for bankruptcy more times than I can count.

Can't think of a single positive thing to say. System sold by Boundless Energy, installed by Freedom Forever, and now 'maintained' by Sunrun. Near constant calls for system malfunctions, billing blunders, etc. to Sunrun. Case #s are created without any follow-ups and zero resolutions. Keep calling, get assigned case #s and then call again due to lack of progress. Additional area of 'joy,' get shunted between the 3 companies, each saying the other is responsible. A system that promises to keep giving headaches for the next 30 years. Please stay clear of all 3 outfits so your life isn't reduced to a constant nightmare.

My wife passed away on March 25 2025 after a brutal battle with cancer, she was the one who paid the bills. It was a horrible ordeal to go through, and because of it I got behind on paying the bill. Sunrun therefore put in a case for a shutdown. After I got back on my feet I paid all of what I owed to Sunrun and kept current on my bill, they assured me that the shutdown order will be cancelled, but on 8/1 they shut it down by mistake, because someone on their end forgot to cancel the shutdown order. They admitted it was their mistake. This mistake cost me almost 300 dollars in lost power production and only offered me 75 dollars, so much for fairness and accountability. I very much regret doing business with them, and recommend people to avoid them.

The entire process was pretty much flawless. My sister used SunRun and recommended them to me. Our salesperson explained everything completely, comparing our current electric bill and what we could expect once solar was installed. I did the contract with Sunrun in 2022. The service was done on February of that year. I was in the hospital with my daughter as she was having a surgery. One guy from Sunrun sent me a text wanting me to send my recent connection bill from Duke. I said I’ll do that once I get home. That was in July.
I pay this one bill every month. First one is small around 50 dollars. And I used to pay $23 for connections fees from Duke. I pay August to February. After next month, everything is going to change.
But I guess they lost it with him. Sunrun told me I have no panel. But they don’t send nobody to come in to check in the house. They said the only thing can do for me is to add more panel. One guy called me and said I might have to pay extra. With the first contract, I had to pay $208 plus something for Duke connection. Another guy called me to say it’ll be 79.99. And then they do some trick on me with something I never see, then nobody tell me about that. Every year, different payment and that goes up.
They take automatic payment and when I saw it on May, it’s almost a little with that. It looks like it’s two guys who do this contract on Sunrun. One called me telling me there is something for me to sign. I stayed on the phone all the way for me to sign that but they didn’t send me any copy of anything I signed. They tell me I’m going to pay 79.99 but that was a lie. Also, when I did the contract, they told me they’re going to review some tax credit, but I didn’t get any tax credit yet. They don’t provide good service for consumers and they lie. It’s not good.

I've had solar from Sunrun since 2016 in our house. We moved down to Athol and it's an all-electric house, so I went solar again.
However, setting it up was a pain. Initially, we put one system on last fall. We don't live in that house full time, so I had to get additional data in order to expand the system a little bit better to accommodate our eventual living conditions there. We stayed there for a month last fall and used it like we were living there. That helped justify the addition to the old system that's on there now.
But we had to wait for National Grid to redo or put some new transformers up for us before they could actually turn on the system. That took about almost six months. It was installed in October, and it didn't get turned on until March.
We got around 20 panels all together. The guys who did the install were great. They explained everything to me, told me how they were gonna do it and advised me when they were gonna need access to the attic. That whole process was really good. And the fact that they actually cleaned up after themselves was nice because not a lot of contractors do that nowadays.
So far, it's been good.

The Sunrun installation was done in one day. They had about 10-man crew and they put it together. It was very simple and they worked very quickly. I didn't have to do anything. They just presented their case and I liked it. I've had it for two years now and had the same bill amount every month. I haven't had much contact since they installed it, but it's working all right.

Sunrun was cool. I had the presentation years ago and they were nice. They took a look around the house, set a date, then they came and did what they had to do. It's saving a lot of money during the summer. They did have to come back and work on a leak in my roof and that was good. Their app also sucks. Sometimes it's down and I have to switch between accounts to pay. Not everything is all in one spot.

The Sunrun presentation was very pleasant and informative. The installation took only a day and the installers were excellent. We've been getting zero bills. We did get a couple of bills towards the end of the winter when the panels were covered and there wasn't much sun. But for the most part, we've had no bills. The experience was very positive.

We got Sunrun through a Costco program. We felt that if Costco was endorsing it within their warehouse, it was a good company. We had started thinking of getting solar, but there are so many solar companies out there. Luckily, the day that we went to Costco, they had a Sunrun representative, so we scheduled an appointment. It went great and we signed up for the service after our appointment.
We started around March and ever since then, I've noticed that our bills have decreased by almost 50%. Sunrun is very professional, on time, and available when you have questions.

An odd little fellow came to the front door on a Saturday and he started talking about electric meters. One thing led to another, and he started telling me about solar. We got a bunch of panels up on our roof. We pay Sunrun for those and that will run for 25 years. Our bill now averages out to about $10 or $20 a month. I had the feeling that I would be saving a lot more, but the little bit of savings that we get is pretty good. Each month, our utility bill says that we're gonna be paying $28 to be connected to the grid and there's no charge for electricity.
Our whole experience with Sunrun was pretty good. It took about two months or so from the time that the guy showed up at my door to the time that the panels were active. The installers showed up one day and they installed the meter and all the circuitry. They put the panels up on the roof. Everything went pretty well with that. It took a couple of weeks after that for the system to go active. It was pretty smooth and it worked out well. Their app is easy to use and navigate. If you've got the panels, you wanna have the app to keep track of things. I'd recommend it to a friend.

Sunrun back in the day was Vivint, and we've been with Vivint since 2013. At the time, it made sense because our bill was dropping lower than what we were paying. Now because we're still under that lease and we started the battery bonus program and got the Tesla, we have two lease agreements going on, which surpasses the highest we’ve paid when we didn't have any PVs. We can surpass $350 easily, which is way more than we originally started.
When we did the battery backup program, we got that $4,250 bonus in a Visa card, but it was frustrating that I needed to contact them frequently to get the money that was due to us. And being in this program, we’re committed to giving up 5 kilowatts for a two-hour period, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for the next 10 years. Everything that goes beyond 100% when it recharges in a day gets given back to the grid, but there's no credit to us at all. We got $4,250, and $25 monthly credit, and that’s it. So, when the electricity goes out at 9:30 PM, our battery is only at 20%, then we have to rely on that 20%, which means we’re unplugging everything just so that we can keep an 8-hour duration.
We thought we could handle the two hours and give up 5 kilowatts in the two-hour duration. But when Hawaiian Electric is having rolling blackouts and the duration could be two to three hours without electricity, and we’re running on that 20%, if the electricity goes out at night, I'm stuck. We thought it was a good thing, but after we’ve gone live and online, we’re not sure anymore and we don’t know where to go from here.

Sunrun has been a godsend to me, I love it. Some people came and they talked about the solar panels, that it would be connected to Nevada Energy and Sunrun would pay for it and Nevada would pay some too. There was a problem with the installation, but it's been taken care of. They shouldn't have put it on because the shingles were so bad up there. Now the new shingles are up, and I'm waiting again for a county inspector to come out and check it, and then I can get my solar panels back up. It has saved me so much, I'm so happy with them.

I strongly caution anyone considering Sunrun. My experience has been defined by misleading sales tactics, broken promises, and total lack of accountability. I was provided with specific figures by a sales representative — including via text messages — and was even issued a $2,000 check to match what was presented as my post-incentive cost. He had an associate on speaker phone walk me through those same figures to reinforce the pitch.
But when the loan terms were finally revealed, they were nothing like what was promised. When I contacted the loan company directly, their explanation aligned with what I saw in writing — not with what the Sunrun rep sold me. I submitted clear documentation, including screenshots and a full breakdown of the discrepancy. Despite Sunrun’s assurance that a review would take place, I’ve received nothing but generic, canned responses — including a July 4 message that promised a follow-up that never came. It’s now been weeks.
To make matters worse, I put off referring friends and family — costing me real financial opportunities — because I wanted to resolve my own experience first. That good-faith decision has cost me time and money, and Sunrun continues to ignore the issue completely. This experience has made me lose all trust in Sunrun as a company. What was supposed to be a long-term partnership based on clean energy and savings has become an exhausting and infuriating ordeal. I will be pursuing legal options and do not recommend this company to anyone.

I bought the polar system from Sunrun last December. It worked fine for 5 months. Then one day I learned that “communication error” on the app. When I checked, the circuit breaker was off and no communication for the last month. I received no alert. When I called the Sunrun customer services, they said that since I already paid off I have to take care of it on my own or they will charge more than $500 for a technician to come over for a diagnostic test. So sad!!! So now I have to check the system every hour or two to make sure it works, if not then I have to reset it. They told me there was no other way. :( If you are so crazy about solar system, I would recommend maybe you should rent it instead of paying it off. What an expensive lesson to learn!! I regretted.

My experience with Sunrun has been awful. I had two Tesla batteries and panels added to my existing solar panels. The system has yet to perform anywhere near what it was allegedly built to handle. The customer service has been insulting at best. The bills from the utility company remain unchanged since the installation. Last night, we had a planned outage, and the batteries did not have enough power to maintain the house for the duration of the outage.

When we bought the house in 2018, it had a Sunrun system on it that we inherited, but did not have what we have now. The guys at Sunrun were great. They came out fast and did their job in one day. We really got everything that Austin said we were gonna get. It took a month between when they put the solar panels on our roof and before we could turn it on. That's probably a normal delay ‘cause you get PG&E involved and they gotta do certifications. The original 15 panels, we're still paying on that. It did not have batteries, so we were only getting help from the panels during the day. We probably weren't using our system quite right. We should have done more of our loads during the day. When I see the PG&E bill come in and it says, “Don't use power between these hours,” I didn't understand that. That worked against us a little.
Sunrun would come by with different offers and different people. It was always confusing and I didn't really bite on any of it. When a rep came by with this newer offer, he said they have a brand-new program with the batteries and added nine more panels that are on batteries. I didn't quite understand all that. I thought all of the solar would be on the batteries. The other 15 are still on the house and contributing, and with the batteries, everything would be tied into one system. I probably need to get the rep on the phone again and ask some questions. Overall, I'm happy with Sunrun right now. I don't think we've had to pay anything other than our normal payments. I also don't think we've had any electricity bills because we've got this new battery.

I am so disgusted with my experience with Sunrun customer service I feel the need to write a review. My initial interactions with Sunrun over the 15 or more years I was a customer were fine. Responsive service with regards to panel's functioning and easy online payments and access to account information. Unfortunately, at the time of the sale of my home, I opted to transfer my account to the new owners during escrow. This is when my nightmare began. My escrow closed March 28th. I received an email stating my account successfully transferred on April 4th. Despite this I continued to be billed. When I called to fix this, I was told that I must contact the transfer department and speak to the person responsible for my transfer since my account reflected the transfer was in progress.
The nightmare continues for 8 additional conversations, including escalations to "managers", each time with me having to direct them to the email sent to me April 4th and start all over with my concerns. In July, I thought all was successfully fixed and was told I would receive an email stating the account is now closed and my balance is zero. However, the email reflected another balance and I am being harassed with emails and text messages from Sunrun collections. It is now August and I am still left unresolved and extremely agitated with the Sunrun's handling of the situation. I truly hope sharing my nightmare prevents anyone else from having to experience it and that someone in Sunrun's management is willing to make adjustments in their service model.

A girl from Sunrun was at my street and explained their company to me. If they're not gonna charge me for the solar system, it's fine, because I'm a widow, I have two adopted children, and I don't work. She says, “It's gonna help you on your bill, but you're not gonna get charged.” They didn't explain to me clearly how everything was gonna work, though. Right now, I like the bill with Sunrun when it comes in, but they raised up their monthly. It used to be $116 but now it's $120. I talked to the manager and she says every year, it's gonna go up. They didn't tell me that. They also charged me the whole month of March, almost $500. They said it's from the solar system that I'm renting. They didn't tell me that was gonna happen, either. But I recommended Sunrun to my friends. They have other companies, but I told them I like this one because my bill is not as high as it used to be.

I hope I'm seeing better results with my solar, and I would have liked it to be less expensive, but I was very happy with Sunrun. The representative that came to my house was very informative. The only one part that could have been better was the installation. They couldn’t finish the installation of the panels that day because of the weather, and they left the panels in front of my house. Later on, my camera picked up somebody trying to take the panels because they thought they were scrap, so I had to call 911. My husband was upset that the contractors didn’t leave the panels in the back of the home. But they did ask me if it was okay to leave them in front and I said yes.

I heard about Sunrun through Costco and my next-door neighbor who has Sunrun as well. Everyone is getting solar here. I needed a new roof and since I’m putting on new ones, I decided that I should also go with solar. The thing that I liked about Sunrun was that we were able to put together a package of a new roof and solar which was a key versus a competitor. I’m trying to save costs and also trying to be better on the environment.
The panels that we got were what we could afford based upon the loan that we were approved for. A day before the installation, they delivered the panels. The installation of the solar panels was easy and they weren’t that noisy. We barely knew they were up there.
The only part of the installation process that had a hiccup was the meter outside for PSE&G. They said that they did not have the right meter or there was some change so we had to wait. They just delayed our startup. And they had to go back and change the meter that had been placed on the outside that measures and sends to PSE&G how much energy we’re sending them.
I tracked the progress via the Sunrun app and through my PSE&G bill. The only negative that I’ve seen so far was the last couple of months. The previous electric bill I had from PSE&G was at $91 which is probably most of our worry-free services. And then last month, I had a $505 bill. I don’t understand why my bill would go up so high. I know we have a pool which is turned on and I did have relatives, so I had more users in the house for a month or so. But it just seems like a huge jump. Not like we’ve had cloudy days every day or we’ve been sucked in to night time.I’ve never had over $500 bill from PSEG. I have to call them today and ask.
Sunrun is not perfect, but they did a great job. There was a difference in cost as well as a mistake that was made, which led to serious leaking into my house. It was not because of the roof failure, but because of my air conditioning unit that is also attached in the attic. Sunrun and their contractor and supplier took care of everything. They came and rectified the issue. The HVAC company came and fixed what was done to the air handling unit. I don’t know if it was from the sistering or if it was when the new roof was placed on, and they had to repair with some panels. But whatever was done, Sunrun took care of it and didn’t charge me a dime extra. They honored everything, down to guy coming in here to paint the ceilings ‘cause of the water damage. I was impressed.

We had a Sunrun salesman knock on our door. He let us know there was a program that paid for the panels. We’ve been approached many times ‘cause of the location of our house, it gets a lot of sun. We decided to go with Sunrun and I had a good experience with them. Their reps were very knowledgeable and helpful. We went along with their recommendation as to how many panels are to be installed and the installation was smooth. My bill is significantly lower so everything seems to be working out fine. I would definitely recommend them if they’re interested in solar.

I've seen Sunrun on TV and then again at Home Depot, where a salesperson talked me and sold me into it. But after that things went downhill.
First thing, when the installers installed the panels, they damaged my roof. They damaged my panel. So, I have to get it fixed. So, I sent the pictures to Sunrun also to the salesman. And he told me they're gonna take care. They took more than a year. They never talked to me, only to tell me they're not gonna pay me. Then my system has been dead now for over two months. My electric bill has been over $300. And that's one that they promised me. And nobody will contact me. At least send text messages, nothing.
They finally fixed it last week. They sent me a text that I need to contact them to get a technician. That took over a month. He finally finished last week, Sunday. He came on Sunday and did it.

Sunrun was referred to me by a friend. I was impressed with their presentation and they were willing to make everything very clear and understandable. The installation of my solar power system went as smooth as it can be. It’s been working fine since they started the system. I’m very happy with the outcome and the amount of electricity it’s producing, which has basically eliminated my electric bill so far.

They will deceive you, they will make promises they will never keep. Warranties mean Nothing to Them! They make excuses not to cover you once installed and leaks are detected. They will perform an “Inspection” of you roof prior to install insist you need a copy of the report prior to install. You will need it in the event of damage to the roof. I still say Never install solar power but if you insist. Listen to my advice, Not Sunrun Ever!

My son in Silicon Valley had solar panels on his roof and he told me how well he was using those. He's had his for 15 years and it was the same company that Sunrun eventually turned into. The cost of electricity going up made me interested and I’ve had Sunrun for four years now.
Andrew is the one who started us with it and I trusted his knowledge of how he was gonna do it. The installation was good. Some people are very particular about what is exposed on the outside of the house, the cables, the lines, the wiring. But I was not particular. I wouldn't worry about that at all. They did their thing and I went along with it.
We finally upgraded with the batteries, and I love that. I'm basically off the grid right now. Andrew helped me work that out and I'm leasing everything from Sunrun. I'm not buying anything. I'm trying to convince my neighbors into it. But they're old and they don't see the advantage of it so they're not interested in it at all. Neighbor across the street didn't want it on his roof. They're gonna learn the hard way when the prices go way up. I'm sitting there smiling and they're gonna be hurting.

I like solar. When I talked to the salesperson, the plan we came up with was really good. I have a flat fee to rent the panels and they replaced my roof and cut down a tree for me. My house is supposed to produce 110% of my energy. 110% is pretty damn good. That means you're getting a credit, except for June and July where they disconnected the box and didn't even bother coming back for weeks.
It's weird because the electricity is not totally switched over due to regulations. You have to keep the meter for the Eversource. But I had to have the box taken off for some siding done and they didn't come back for three weeks like they should have. Eversource was charging me $2,000 for that. So it took three weeks of me harassing Sunrun to get that back on. In the meantime, I had to spend 200 and something dollars for electricity that I shouldn't have had to spend.
While they were installing everything, there was no problem reaching people. But after the system's been up, it's been an issue. That aside, I definitely think it's worth switching due to everything. Unfortunately, you can't completely disconnect from the big government that decides they want to suck your money dry.

Sunrun is really good. I signed up with National Grid and they sell the electricity back to the people. In the winter time, I paid just a little bit. Sunrun has been really good and worth it. It helped me a lot. The only thing I don't like is that the leaves get underneath it. So much stuff can get in there. It’s hard to get them out too. That aside, I would recommend it.

One guy was working next door and saw me getting into my house. He asked me if I was interested in solar and gave me a breakdown of things. I said I’ll try it and he came the next meeting. He brought a drone. He didn't even enter my house. He did everything out and out and was very quick. I give him full marks.
The signup was good. The deal he gave me is where I have to pay $130 for my lifetime and I don't have to worry about it. I used to get $300 a bill. Now, in six months, he gave me a deal for a dollar. After that, it was $130. I'm just waiting for my bill and I’ll see how it does. Sunrun is a very good company, the best one. Go ahead with them.

Sunrun had a person walking around the neighborhood and I talked to him and it made sense to get one. The installation went fairly easy. The only hiccup was SDGE coming by and putting a stamp on it so you could look it up. So far, Sunrun has been pretty good. They have an app that sends me updates about how it's working. They came out one time because there was something going on. They came six days later, checked it out, and fixed the problem. My electric bill hasn't been over 20 bucks since they hooked it up.

Overall, Sunrun was very good. I was very leery of solar. But when they came, they told me what the proposition was and they going to lock in my electric rate and have a fixed bill. That was the biggest thing to me. I always thought it was gonna cost tens of thousands of dollars. But this guy came around and he's actually a very good salesman, really nice, and seemed very honest.
I purchased 11 panels. That's based on my electrical usage and where in the roof it would be. They do an aerial survey of the house with a drone and they propose what it's going to be. It pleasantly surprised us. It was gonna be on the back of the house and then on the garage side so you don't see it at all from the front of the house. They installed these during the winter. They had to get up on the roof and shovel the snow off. They also have an app where I can look at how my system is operating. It's really neat to know.
I was quite happy with installation and everything. The thing I didn't like is I couldn't get a local number of anybody. The only number that I got was out in Arizona and the guy just said to submit all the stuff online. I would prefer to actually sit with their manager.
But there was something that was promised that was never followed through on. We've tried to contact Sunrun about it and nothing has gone anywhere with it. I like their professional ability, but if there's any promises, you need to get that in writing.
They said they were gonna do something with the shingling on the roof. There's the cap and they said they were gonna replace it. I texted the salesperson about it and he said his roof guy is coming out to look at it, but it's coming out of my pocket. The product seems to work great, but that's really bad taste in my mouth. But overall, I'm happy with the company.

We got Sunrun to save money on my bill each month, but it's been over a year now and I'm not saving money. I'm paying over $150 a month to Sunrun, plus my electricity bill still. I thought my bill would be lower but I'm paying around the same amount. So I don't see the benefit. There was a problem with the installation too. When they installed it, we had to wait for PG&E to sign off. They did and the system worked for maybe two weeks then it stopped and it blew my sockets. Something wasn't wired right. They did compensate me a little, but it was not enough. I had to get an electrician out to rewire and do things in the box. I think I made a bad decision. I should have continued paying my PG&E.

We kicked the idea of solar around for two or three years. We finally decided to go with Sunrun Solar this Spring. No high pressure and I liked that the solar panels came with two batteries so we could enjoy the solar electricity 24 hours a day. The people at Sunrun changed out our electric breaker box, it was forty years old, just before they installed the solar panels and the two batteries. They were quick and efficient. Four installers came just after 7 a.m. Two on the roof and two on the electrical. I was ready to get into solar power! Then came the news that while they completed the installation before the end of July, we couldn’t use the solar panels until first the city inspected and then Edison. They told us that could take until the end of September. We were not expecting that. Our monthly electric bill has reached over $400 a month during the Winter and Summer.
The Solar was intended to keep our electric bill at just the monthly cost to Sunrun. I worked in the management side of construction for a few years so I’m familiar with how inspectors can really slow down any project. In my time building fast food restaurants and medical centers I learned how a smart contractor can help inspectors choose your job to inspect over another one. We never had to wait more than a day for any inspection. So, hearing Sunrun would take two months to get our solar inspected and running is very disappointing. If I were starting over again, we would very likely spend more time with their competition to find not just quick construction but getting to use the solar panels in more reasonable time. So Sunrun, you went from 5 out of 5 stars to maybe 3. If the solar is turned on early, I’ll improve that rating. If it takes longer then it may go to 2 stars.

Very misleading. On average we pay more to Sunrun and our electrical company combined than we were when we didn't have sunrun. Would have better off purchasing from another company. Other issue is they don't clean up after themselves. Yard was a mess. If could would get out of this agreement right now.

I am disabled, confined to a wheelchair and live by myself in Valley Springs, CA. I had Sunrun install solar panels, with the promise of them lowering my electric bill. But, I have had nothing but problems since they were installed. At first the meter was not working correctly but getting them to come up here has been such a chore. I have to wait months for them to provide a service call. And, my electric bill is still very high, I pay almost $300 a month on top of $160 a month to Sunrun. My neighbor and his wife who have the same solar panels from Sunrun only pays an electric bill of $3.00. To date they still cannot tell me why my electric bill is still so high when the solar panels are suppose to be saving me money. I hate to think the Sunrun is taking advantage of an elderly, physically disabled women without an adequate explanation or support for my concern as to why my electrical bill is still so high.

Very pleased with the performance after a year in service my bills are exactly as quoted with the exception of 3 that were way out of range, and customer service was not very helpful with an explanation, otherwise system is doing what I was told by salesman (Anthony **). At 70 years old I finally meet a honest salesman.

Sunrun installed panels with snow shields. Apparently they are an extra cost but I did not request them. The snow shields collect debris from trees and it gets trapped under the panel. The snow guards also prevent trying to clean the debris off. It is wrecking the roof and Sunrun wants to charge me $600 to remove them. I wish I could drop them but I am stuck in the contract. Use someone else if you can.

Worst experience ever. Not only did it take forever for the installation process to finish, there is absolutely no benefit to having these solar panels. My electric bill went up after installing rather than going down. Their "excuse" is that my energy consumption must have gone up, but i looked at past bills, energy consumption didn't go up but the bill did. Then they said, "i see you don't have a battery installed". I specifically asked for a battery when they were going to install the panels but the rep said they were not necessary that they don't recommend the battery. I wouldn't recommend this to my enemies. STAY AWAY FROM SUNRUN SOLAR PANELS.

I leased my system and the whole process was very good. I was in construction for 40 years, so I understand that "things" can happen. They really didn't to me. I've had it for a year and am averaging $42/month energy savings. I expect even greater savings 5 or 10 years from now.

Where to start! I just spoke with a representative, and they charged us over $600 to come and inspect a dead inverter with no lights or anything. This company was the worst decision. We've had problems every year. They've replaced the inverter three times in the paste 3 years. We've had to wait at least a month for the technician to come. And now, it turns out our panels haven't worked since May, and due to the policy change, we have to pay over $600 for them to come and replace a new converter that's completely damaged. Run away from this company.

I bought our home with purchased solar panels from the previous owner. I was concerned about the roof as I have heard they can leak. I reviewed the contract and seen a 10 year warranty on the roof for leakages. So I thought I was good. How wrong I was. It's been 6 months and I just get passed to person to person and they say they will send someone out and take care of it. But they that's it. They stop answering calls and never call back. This last round, they tried to hand me off again. I told them I keep getting the run around and I'll have to involve other individuals. Like a lot of the complaints, they are unscrupulous and seem to have no intentions to take care of your concerns.

I have my unit installed in 2019 and I have been plagued with problems since the past 2 yrs. Problem included roof leak after installation and underproduction as a result of wrong optimizer then inverter and battery malfunction after power outage. This is now the second time that my inverter malfunction since my unit was installed. Just now, my inverter is malfunctioning but I have to agree to pay a standard fee of $584 dollars to have a technician inspect my unit. I have other Solar systems installed in my other house and in my office, installed by other contractor and for over 10 yrs, no issues. One thing I noticed is the absence of Ground Rod connected to the inverter in my house while the others have one.

I had solar panels installed by Sunrun in 2023. The system has been under performing from inception and Sunrun consistently failed to rectify the problem. First they dropped the ball and said everything was working fine until I found almost 12 months after installation when I reviewed the data that the system was working at 50% capacity. Sunrun time and again failed to come in and fix the problem. Latest information they will come Aug 4 to fix it. Almost 18 months of underperformance. High electric bills and loss of money. The salesperson Gerry ** was very nice when selling the system but not helpful at all in solving the problem. The person assigned to handle the case at Sunrun, a young woman was unprofessional, rude and unhelpful. In the final analysis, go with some other company.

Once I contacted Sunrun, I was impressed with their service. The representative I dealt with from Sunrun was extremely helpful. He thoroughly explained everything about the solar panel setup to me, and I could clearly see the benefits. The transition went smoothly, and overall, it was a perfect experience.
Even though I initially hesitated, I'm glad I chose Sunrun since the setup process was very straightforward, and the potential savings on my high electricity bills were too good to ignore.

From start to installation, the team was wonderful and more! They assisted with getting paperwork signed by our HOA, made themselves available for all questions we had, and kept us up to date on the status plans and progress. It took a long time, almost 7 months, from the first time we met them till actual usage. Our HOA is very picky, as all are. But our Sunrun reps stuck by our side and walked us through every step!

Sunrun was recommended by a friend. After all my research, unfortunately I decided to go with Sunrun. Neily ** was my sale representative. She made several promises that she NEVER followed up with and I am still going back and fourth to get answers and resolved. I've been dealing with these issues since January 2025. First of all, Ms. ** promised to have 9 trees cut then she went back on her words and said she can cut only 7. She promised the following incentives (9 trees to be cut and splitted for my fireplace, gutter guards, the first 12 months free. The only promise that she followed up with after several emails and text messages was the 12 months free which I just received mid-May followed by an unprofessional and a rude text message which I still have on my phone.
Ms. ** hired this tree company Olvin's Tree Service and they did a horrible job. They left tree branches and tree residuals all over my yard (front, side and back). They chopped off part of a smaller tree and two bushes I had in the front yard and completely destroyed and big bush I had in the front of the house. They did not cur the trees as promised. I've been sending emails (too many to count) and speaking on the phone with Sunrun supervisor and management (Ganem ** and Eric **) since March when I was not getting any responses from Ms ** and they are not that helpful either. Mr. ** had told me to get an estimate for the cleaning of my yard and I got several estimates and I've shared that via email with him. He had emailed me to tell me that Ms. ** will be sending me a check via mail and it will take 2-4 weeks. Five weeks arrive and still nothing. I emailed both Ms. ** and Mr. **. I received a nasty email from Ms **.
I have requested to have phone number and email of the president of the company to voice my concerns. I was denied. No one is taking responsibilities. All they are looking for is for customer to sign the contract and get stuck with poor service and unprofessional employees. I've been having an unpleasant experience with Sunrun and I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General Office. This whole experience has been a nightmare and my lawn is dying and my yard is a mess with the tree branches. I have taken many pictures of the mess they left on my property but I am having a hard time uploading them. I hope other customers don't have to go through what I am going through and I am still going to fight to get these issues resolved. Ms. ** should be terminated for her unprofessionalism and false promising to customers.

I gave Sunrun a try after hearing about them through a recommendation from a friend who is employed there. Also, Sunrun is actively involved with Special Olympics. With numerous solar companies out there, my experience with Sunrun stands out. They provided an excellent presentation and I've been with them for many years now. Sunrun has truly proven to be top of the line in solar services.
From a cost perspective, the savings on my electrical bills have been the best I've ever noticed. Although I lease my panels and don't own them, I'm satisfied with the financial benefits I've received. Given my positive interactions, if a friend or family member were to ask about my experience, I'd recommend Sunrun.
In terms of customer service, quality, and overall value, Sunrun deserves top marks. They have consistently met my expectations.

There was no money out of pocket and the bill would be equal to my electric bill. For over three years now, the system has been working quite well. It doesn't perform quite as efficiently during the winter, which I expected. While the yearly wattage output hasn't fully matched the initial estimates, it's fairly close. In terms of my electric bill, it has stayed approximately the same and might be slightly lower. The expectation was that the production in summer would cover winter demands entirely, but it hasn't quite worked out that way.
There was one incident where we had to contact customer service because my wife's phone was displaying an error about the system. Although it turned out to be a software glitch, Sunrun was prompt in addressing the situation by checking and rectifying it, ensuring the phone now reflects the correct system status. Overall, the customer service experience has been satisfactory, though I would appreciate more frequent communication from Sunrun to update us on system performance and address any unnoticed issues.

I was looking into various government solar programs, but I couldn't qualify. After doing a bit of online research, I came across Sunrun and decided to give them a shot. The initial presentation by Sunrun was quite fine, but my experience with their solar panel installation didn't start off well. They didn’t install enough solar panels on the house in the beginning, so the system didn’t considerably reduce our energy bills as promised. I was confused because over a year later, they managed to add more panels and even equipped us with batteries, which begs the question why it couldn’t have been done initially.
I wasn’t present during the installations since my sister and niece were around at that time, but I've found things somewhat manageable now that it’s just me living in the house. My electric bills have significantly decreased to the point where I've not had any bills for the past two months, a relief I credit to the battery storage system. However, while it works for me now as a solo owner, there were challenges for my family initially. During the first year after installation, my sister ended up with over $2,000 for an electric bill because the panels didn’t provide the savings they anticipated, leaving them to shoulder the expense with no external assistance.
Although my current power expenses are manageable with a fixed budget, I am still paying over $200 monthly for Sunrun. When I reflect on it, having the battery might indeed be advantageous because without them, I would spend nearly the same just on utilities. Yet, it’s evident that without the additional panels and battery, the solar investment wouldn’t have been viable. For anyone considering Sunrun, make sure to verify that they install an adequate number of panels—something that genuinely helps in reducing grid electricity reliance instead of becoming an early financial hindrance.
Despite the rocky start, I’d rate Sunrun around a 4 out of 5 for making the present much more convenient in living alone and reducing current costs, but I remain cautious for how it affects larger families over a longer period. It’s crucial that potential clients ensure Sunrun installs the right setup that caters well to their specific home size and electricity needs upfront.

Sunrun seemed to have a longstanding reputation and solid reviews online. Delving into resources such as the Better Business Bureau helped me feel confident about choosing them.
The solar energy setup has been fantastic overall. While I'm not entirely thrilled with the existing cost structure—where a large percentage like 40% goes into commissions rather than the installation—it seems a standard in the industry. However, my 25-year loan essentially balances what I used to pay for electricity with Excel, ensuring my bills are handled, which is encouraging.
I have definitely benefited, considering our electricity bill has been offset entirely! My commitment to the environment aligns well with this switch. Living in Colorado helps too, since the state allows offsetting every kilowatt-hour produced against what's used from the grid on a one-for-one basis.
Also, the system perfectly supports my lifestyle, including charging my electric car or when we plan to add an AC unit. Not to mention, I appreciate not having faced any customer service issues so far.
Despite the areas for improvement, like reducing those sky-high commission fees, the benefits we've seen make our Sunrun experience worthwhile, and I’m quite happy with it.

I realized that electricity prices were bound to rise, and a Sunrun representative had approached me with a compelling offer. Although I've been with the program for a couple of years, I haven't seen a significant drop in my electric bill due to monthly costs associated with Sunrun and additional charges from the electric company for the wiring.
I believe I installed about eight panels, and I must commend the installation process—professional and thorough. The team was competent and handled everything smoothly.
If asked, I would definitely recommend Sunrun to friends and family. The company has consistently reached out to me, ensuring I'm well-informed, which I appreciate. Although I lease rather than own my system, this arrangement suits me just fine.
Customer service has been impressive, starting from the initial presentation. Though I haven't downloaded their app, Sunrun’s follow-up hospitality has made my experience worthwhile. Overall, based on my interactions and the service received, I'd rate them a solid five out of five.

Sunrun says they monitor the system and repair fast. The bill says if you don’t produce you will be credited the month it don’t produce. We are now in July and since feb it has not produced. They have not credited.

I am currently a Senior Quality and Reliability Engineer for an owner of over 200 industrial solar power plants and been in solar since Aug 2013. Sunrun install was pretty easy 2021, but I knew the salesperson at the time, and it made getting answers easy. System design was flawed, and I made the design better which unfortunately Sunrun prices their system based on the power output and not the actual equipment, so I ended up paying more for the same amount of equipment but because I made it better, they made me pay more (18 modules and Enphase Microinverters). I moved 3 modules from the east roof to south roof.
If you are buying the system outright, I would caution you to ensure that Sunrun makes you the owner of the system in all documents including Enphase if you are going with Enphase inverters. I would also ensure they setup their app and Enphase app during their install as getting Sunrun to respond to you is like pulling teeth. As the above mentioned about ownership and the app. These have both been incidents where it has taken me multiple weeks and 20, 30, 40 emails even with both companies on the same chain to get what I need to view and repair my system. Sunrun will definitely talk to you if you want them to come out for a price. If you need anything else, I wish you luck. I will never do business with this company again.

I got Sunrun because they were established with Costco, which gave me a sense of trust. I became interested in solar energy services due to frequent power outages in our community, causing the grid to go offline regularly. I needed a reliable backup power source, and Sunrun offered the solution.
Since the installation, I've enjoyed continued power even when the grid fails, and the system efficiently powers our house at night. My electric bills have noticeably dropped, thanks to this addition. I'm able to track my energy production effortlessly using the Tesla app, which integrates well with Sunrun's services.
Overall, my experience with Sunrun has been positive. Their installation crew did a commendable job, and the equipment performs as promised. I have a battery as well. I would rate my experience with them as a 4 out of 5.

We liked Sunrun's price and their presentation was straightforward. It was conducted at our home, and the representatives were courteous and well-mannered during the initial discussion. However, the installation process was a disappointment. Our flat roof required specific installation conditions, and despite mentioning that we wanted a no-drill approach, the installers ended up drilling holes into the roof. This was due in part to the lack of proper parapet wall anchors; they only brought one. This oversight was particularly frustrating given the high price we paid for installation. The cost of the panels were pretty cheap but the install was the most expensive. So while they patched the roof, the fact that the issue happened remains a concern.
In terms of performance, the solar panels do have a positive impact on our energy bills, especially when we are cautious about power use during peak hours. Although, it wasn’t initially sufficient to offset as much as we expected, even after increasing from the originally advised 13 panels to 20. There was improvement once we adapted our energy usage, particularly in the winter months where the savings on propane for heating were significant. Our electricity bill dramatically decreased to about $100 monthly from what would have been a $300 propane cost. This part of the investment was indeed worth it. While I find the system beneficial, there's an underlying concern regarding after-sales service, as I've heard issues around Sunrun's long-term support, but fortunately, no problem has arisen yet.

I have had my panel from Sunrun for 6 years, and I wish I never had. At the beginning of the process, it was a with getting them to work when they were installed. Now after 6 years they have not worked for the past 7 months. I am in a lease, so they are responsible for the repairs, they have come out twice and the system is still not working. The customer service is terrible, every time I called, I get someone who can't speak nor understand English. They are supposed to be the #1 solar company in the country. What a joke.

I encountered Sunrun through a visit to Costco. At the Sunrun kiosk, a representative captured my interest and arranged for a consultation. The advisor was professional, and we hit it off due to our shared childhood experiences in the same area.
The pre-installation phase was smooth, particularly as some preliminary work with another company had already gotten approval from my Homeowners Association. This streamlined the process, and Sunrun was able to proceed quicker than I had anticipated.
Regarding the installation, though it's a bit of a blur for me, it was fast, completed in less than a day. The team guided me on how to operate the external panel, which simplified things further.
I've been enjoying the solar setup primarily due to the significant reduction in my electric bill. As everything with Sunrun has been running smoothly, I genuinely don't have any complaints at this time.

Sunrun had a positive endorsement at Costco and they have a solid warranty offer. I can confirm that, overall, the quality of the solar panels from Sunrun is excellent. However, my installation experience was marred by complications. The team responsible for the installation accidentally broke some roof tiles, leading to a leak. Unfortunately, when I called for assistance, Sunrun's response was lacking. The representative they sent claimed there was no issue, leaving me to resolve it on my own. As someone in my 50s, I found myself in the awkward position of using a drone to identify the cracked tile and perform the replacement—a task that should’ve been straightforward for them.
While I appreciate the workmanship of the original installers and can understand that such accidents can occur, my expectations were that Sunrun’s service team would rectify their mistake promptly. Their investigative approach leaned more towards absolving responsibility rather than simply fixing what was broken. Basic goodwill efforts, like replacing the cracked tile with one of the spares from the initial installation, could have gone a long way.
I genuinely wished for a smoother resolution and felt disappointed about the service handling, insisting that timely, effective corrections could turn dissatisfied moments into loyal endorsements instead.

I always liked the idea of being independent or as close to independent as I can be to sustain my house. Initially, a salesman piqued my interest in solar energy solutions. He was knowledgeable, though I have a few regrets about the financing choices I made at the time. He shared the information needed, which was satisfactory. The crew initially brought the wrong type of inverters for installation, but I insisted on getting the advanced model I had agreed to. Eventually, they delivered and installed the right inverters, which I appreciated. My interactions with the crew were minimal, but the installation was completed correctly in the end.
Now that my system is operational, I've noticed my FPL bill is minimal, thanks to having 39 solar panels. However, I wish I had installed more panels on the roof, particularly on the south side, for maximum electricity production. Currently, during peak sunlight, my system generates enough energy to run significant appliances like my pool pump and fridge while still contributing electricity to the grid. For anyone considering Sunrun, I would recommend them but suggest seeking 0% interest financing options, which can be more beneficial. The most noticeable change since the installation is that my electricity bill has decreased, and on sunny days, my electricity generation is evident.

My physician was talking to me about Sunrun while I was getting an exam and I decided to follow up on it. I frequently noticed Sunrun trucks in my area, spurring me to reach out and go with them directly. The sales visit was impressive – their representatives were highly professional. Signing up with Sunrun was straightforward, and they provided all the necessary updated information about California regulations regarding solar panels, which I found very helpful. Over time, I added eight additional panels to keep pace with those regulations.
To track my solar production, I utilize an online account. It’s been quite consistent, though there was one incident where a converter needed replacement. Sunrun’s monitoring team detected the issue and promptly addressed it by sending someone out to fix it. I've had no problems since then, and that was back in 2019. Since installing my solar power system in 2014, my electricity setup has completely changed my life. I haven't paid anything to Southern California Edison, my electricity carrier, for many years.

In the beginning I thought Sunrun would be a good company. However, after two years of having my system I am finding out that the customer support is awful. My system DOES NOT produce power to the level in the design specifications. When I contact support, I am told "Your system is healthy and producing power." If it is producing anything at all, they will not open a trouble ticket. My system us under producing by 2 kW which would run my air conditioning. However, with the max production of 7.3 kW, I still have to draw power from AMREN. I would advise that anyone looking for Solar, run far away from Sunrun.

Two years ago we were charged for 6 mos for energy we never received. For over a year we have been receiving notices of low energy production, when the skies are completely clear. I have had 3 case managers who have run reports, tested the system and promised to help, but no action. I have been told for the last 12 weeks someone would be out, but nothing. Today when I called for the 9th time in 6 weeks, I was assigned a 4th case manager. This company is awful! I had an $8000 true up at the end of last year and Sunrun is just ignoring me, over and over.

Real things to know about Sunrun. I've experienced a customer service who is inattentive, does not follow up on issues and is in no rush to remedy the issue. My Sunrun system hasn't produced energy in 1 year, since June 2024. I've opened tickets, called, finally got Sunrun to take a look and the issue is with a part that is 4 years old and under warranty. The issue is that since I financed my system instead of a 25 year lease, they do not attempt to replace the part and get the system back online. They also want to charge for any labor and parts as this is a financed system. I would avoid Sunrun for their customer service alone, but after dealing with this issue, I will no longer recommend them as I have in the past.

Sunrun cut down trees in my yard and never removed the logs or debris. I was told this was between me and the contractor they hired. I didn't even know the name of the tree company then directed to sales rep.

I went green with Sunrun. It’s good to be able to lower the electrical bill, because I did have one before that I canceled the next day because of the wife.
I had it installed on the back side of the house and, in the summertime, it’s great. But the sun hits more of the front during wintertime. If I had known what I know now, I’d put half in the back, put half in the front, but it is what it is.
I had somebody come out not too long ago, I don’t know if it was Dominion or Sunrun, to see if we could get it all the way down to zero, and he said we have to get a couple more solar panels.

I selected Sunrun because I was looking at a solid company. The installation was so nice and quick. They took care of all the details and made the skirt look aesthetically better than on all other installations. With the app, I can see everything and track how it's going. It was a great experience. I’m trying to refer somebody to Sunrun, but they reject the project because Sunrun is no longer making deals with OUC Utility starting February of this year. I think that OUC is gonna change the net metering program.

In the summer, my bills used to be close to $400 on the summer. That's one of the reasons why I went to Sunrun. When they offered in New Hampshire, I jumped right on it. We have Sunrun for two years in our house in New Hampshire, and we've had them here in Boston for about three or four years. We were referred by a friend, and four years ago, there weren't as many companies like them as there are now. Sunrun decreased my electric bill. My house in the city, I haven't had an electric bill in two years. But in New Hampshire, we’ve had more difficulties. I was guaranteed that I was at 118% efficiency. I'm not even maxing that and I have had to pay some chunky bills in the summer.
Although my bill has decreased, it's not the same results that I have here in Boston. Through my conversations multiple times with representatives at Sunrun, I really believe that they needed to look at the design. It depends on the time of day or the year, whether the back or the front of the house gets a lot of sun. Sunrun guaranteed that the system would produce, and I'd be really happy. I've done nothing but argue, though.
In the summer, I'm still getting bills of about $200 to $300, and I should be making that all-year long. I don't feel like anybody's giving me a resolution. I was guaranteed 118% productivity. But what I'm seeing on my dashboard, we're lucky we're hitting 70%. We need more panels. They did send their Freedom Forever people to look at it last year. The one guy didn't show, but the second guy did show, and he said, "You were slated for eight panels and you gotta cut down trees." I said, "No. They never told us we'd have to cut down any trees. They told us we had plenty of sun on my house." I got really tired. I didn't wanna cut down trees. It's nature and that's not my thing.
My brother and I both have homes in New Hampshire in a circle. I talked my brother into getting Sunrun, and he's having the same issues. He also argued that they didn't tell him to cut down trees. He was told he’s at 120%. He wanted it to work so well that he ended up taking a chunk of money out and cutting down trees around his house.
I know it works and how the benefits are. I would work for the company and tell people how much it works, but somebody's gotta figure out my New Hampshire house. I'm upset that I'm paying that lease and I still have high electric bills. I would have cut down the trees in the beginning if they had said so. But they said, "You don't have to. We have aerial photos. You're fine and you're gonna get the same results." It would be great if somebody from Sunrun contacted me because I’m getting tired of calling and they tell me the same thing over and over again.

Someone I know spoke to one of the Sunrun reps and they liked him. I used them and was very pleased. I’ve had them for about two years now. I’ve definitely noticed changes with the energy bill, and I also have a heat pump. I'm saving the environment a little bit. However, the last time we had heavy snow, the snow came off the panels to where my bushes are located, but that's the only problem I have. I don't know if there's anything they can do for that or it's the way the setup is. If it was gonna be anything extra, I don’t wanna get involved in that.

In 1982, I put passive solar on my house so I knew a little about solar. I was just waiting for better opportunities. A lot of people have knocked on my doors. But Sunrun was in cahoots with the electric company and the State of Massachusetts—not that they're the most reputable businesses, but I figured they were better than the others. When the sun's out, the panels are working out very good for me. I have a meter out back so I check that. When I get my electric bill, it says, "No payment due." I recommended Sunrun and two of my neighbors picked up afterwards after I told them. It was a good deal.

I heard about Sunrun through Costco. The salesperson came to our home to do a presentation. They seemed to know what they were talking about, and everything they explained made sense. The installation didn’t take long at all. They put the panels up in a single day.
We’ve had the Sunrun solar system for about three years. We didn’t purchase the battery at the time because I didn’t feel it was cost-effective. We currently have 12 panels installed, and I’m getting ready to add more. They’re going to install 15 additional panels.
Initially, what Sunrun did was take the previous year’s electric bills, even though we had only been in the home for about three months. I didn’t think those bills reflected our usage because the person who lived here before us was a single occupant. I felt like we could have done better with the number of panels.
One of the reasons I feel that way is because our neighbors who have solar panels have almost three times as many as we do. It seemed like Sunrun had the wrong idea about our energy needs right from the start when they decided to install only 12 panels. So, they had to do a lot of convincing to get me to agree to the additional 15 panels.
This new group from Sunrun seems to know what they’re doing. They listened to me and understood my concerns. They could see we needed to get on the same page, and we did. I still think the cost is a bit inflated, but you get what you pay for.

Sunrun bought the company that initially installed my panels. And as far as the solar goes, I haven't paid an electric bill in eight years. They have an app that tells me how many kilowatt hours gets produced every day.
Having it is financially beneficial. I recommend them. You won’t be paying an electric bill for the next 20 years.

My brother-in-law had it installed, and we were talking about it, so that's how we found Sunrun. I was interested because of the rebates and being able to sell your electricity back and make money off of it.
I regret it. I'm not a fan of the company. I had problems with my roof leaking, and the communication with them is horrible. I don't recommend it to anybody.
The roof leak isn't affecting the solar. It's just affecting them while trying to fix the property. The solar works fine and everything. But if I were to do it all over again, I would never get it.
My electricity is a lot lower, 100%. I don't have a bill like I used to. I use the Sunrun app to track it, and the app is great.
They're too big a corporation. And I feel like they do everything they can to get you signed on. Once you sign on, they disappear. I don't like that.

I cannot remember exactly how we first heard about Sunrun. It was 8, 9, maybe 10 years ago. But every experience we've had with them has been absolutely outstanding, from installation, permits, quality of workmanship, cleanliness of the work site, everything has been wonderful.
They monitored our system, and if it wasn't performing up to par, they would send someone out. They checked the system from the outside, tweaked it, and that's all it needed. And then they gave me a credit because it had gone on for a couple of months, I wasn't getting the full, I don't know what you call it, it's not voltage, but whatever it was. I can't tell you how good they've been.
I don't track it at all. All I do is pay my UI bill once a month. And every year, somehow, I get a credit. And I don't have to pay UI for a couple of months. But I do look at my UI bill, and I see how much I have banked, especially in the winter.
I have an in-ground pool and a nine-room house. It's air-conditioned in the summer. My bill was $500 at the beginning when I first got Sunrun. I've had only two electric bills above just the hookup bill in all those years, 9 or 10 years that we've had this. I've only had two bills.They were somewhere around 40 bucks. And if you look at that bill, $25 to $30 of that is all these add-ons that the state adds on. So, those two bills that I've gotten in 10 years, I would say 90% to 95% were add-ons and not the actual usage that I overused my solar.
It's a 10. I brag about it all the time. They've been marvelous, marvelous, marvelous.

We got our older system in 2014 and that covered our whole garage. Everybody promised us we would never get another true-up bill but we’re still getting billed by PG&E until just a few weeks ago. That was supposed to pay for everything but that never did. Then recently, we found out that we didn’t have any inverter. I never look at my Sunrun app and I don’t believe anything they put there, because it comes up everything is okay. But our inverter has been gone for two months so we’re not getting power from all those panels on the garage roof.
We have people banging on the door all the time, wanting us to sign up with some company but I tell them we have panels already. I’m happy the way the service is right now and we’re happy with what we have.

Someone was going around door-to-door to inform people in my area about Sunrun. And I was always curious about having solar compared to the regular electrical power to see whether I could save some money.
The switching process was very easy. The rep was very friendly. He took the time to explain everything and break it down for me, and to compare what it is like to have the electrical bill, how we're charged compared to Sunrun.
I still get a bill from my electrical company. And it usually shows me if I have a negative balance with them. I know that I'm definitely producing more than what I'm using up. And for that, I’m extremely satisfied. I've been able to save a lot of money because right now, the electrical bills are much higher with the electrical companies. And I really do not have a bill with Sunrun. I just pay my monthly fees.
I have been telling a lot of people about Sunrun and they should be paying me for that. I've been letting them know how much I've saved, and that I do not have a bill anymore from the electrical company. My husband got a few of his friends in Connecticut to get solar from Sunrun. And my neighbor also has solar from Sunrun because of us.

I got around 16 panels. And so far I saw the difference when I got the bill. I would recommend Sunrun. It was good.

Enrollment was super easy. Frederico came out and spent some amount of time with me going over the process and what I could hope to obtain in savings on my energy bill. He laid it all out—what they were gonna do, that it was gonna be no cost to me, and I can lease the system. If I didn't like it, they would take it back and they'd fix any problems with it. Wow! It sounded like a no-brainer to me, and it turns out I was correct. I'm very satisfied.
The installation was seamless. They sent a team out, and they brought all materials in and went up on the roof. They replaced any cracked tiles. They even had to relocate a vent pipe from one of the bathrooms to make the system fit. They took care of that and went to my attic. They were fantastic. You can see the system from the street. It's on the front of my house. It's not unsightly at all. Actually, I think it adds to the house.
There was even a leak that Sunrun had to come and fix, and they took care of that. There was a water leak on the roof. It was a spot. They took the panels off, fixed the leak, and put the tiles back on. It's been fine ever since and there was not one dime out of my pocket.
I have two monitors on the side of the house that show me that the panels are generating. They also installed a meter, and it shows me how many kilowatt-hours I'm producing depending on the sunlight. Of course, at night time, there's 0. But during the day, with total sunlight and no clouds, it's producing a lot. I can see the numbers on the meter.
It's a big house. I got two air conditioners and there’s a pool. I'm paying substantially less a month now. I still have to stay on the grid, so if I'm using a lot of power at night with no solar, my bill could go up on NV Energy a bit. But the good news is when I'm not using it and I'm saving energy, it goes back to them and I get a credit from NV Energy. My bill for them is $19.48 a month. There has been an occasion where it's gone up a little bit, 30-40 bucks, but for the most part, it stays right about $19 on top of what I pay to Sunrun. I’ve also referred several friends and I've even gotten a rebate. The people who have installed it love it.

We started in late November of 2019 and we went live in February of 2020. My sales rep was very helpful. He helped work with my HOA, which got the things rolling quickly. That was really what I needed to happen because of tax benefits. He was good. Once the installation was done, everything seemed to be fine. I was pleased. My electric bill is going down considerably. I was paying $350 a month. Last year, I paid $95 a year. That's a considerable savings.

I installed and paid for a Sunrun 41 panel system in my Las Vegas home March of 2025. In my first full bill from NV Energy, I noticed it was producing 2/3 of projected output. I started reaching out May 22, 2025 and after several e-mails I was told that it looks like 1/3 of the system is not connected correctly. This was done remotely, no in person visit. I asked when they were going to fix it, and without even a phone call I get a DocuSign invoice for me to pay $649 to diagnose the system. I paid over $55k cash a few months ago, and you want me to pay in the 1st couple of months for you to figure out what you did wrong? Makes me wonder if maybe they need a drug policy over there. I hired Sunrun, which was NOT the cheapest vendor, to avoid this sort of shenanigans.

My husband was the one who got the solar system in 2017. The young salesman presented it very well, and my husband ended up leasing the system. He’s passed away since, so now I’m the one leasing it. All my lease bills are extravagant. I could get cheaper bills with PG&E.
When it rained, we had leaks. Sunrun sent a yo-yo to look at the roof and all the things that were up there. I didn’t do what he told me to do. I had to have it patched on my dime because Sunrun said it was not their fault that it was leaking. But they did some damage to my roof, which was confirmed by a handyman. I’m very unhappy with Sunrun.

And the fellow they sent out to my house was fantastic. He helped us greatly, and that’s why we signed up. And the installation went fine. We still see a big difference in our electric bill. So, Sunrun is a good company, and I’ve been satisfied with their product.

Sunrun had someone come out and do a presentation. It was okay and I agreed to do it. Now I think it was not explained that well to me. I am not very happy because by the time that I'm done with this, I'm going to be paying a lot more to Sunrun than I ever would have paid for my energy bill per month. He said it would only go up a couple of percentage. He didn't make it sound like it will be every year. Now I’m in a contract where I have to stick with this. By the time it's over with, I'll be paying almost 500 bucks a month. On top of the fact that I'm not banking any energy, I have sun during the summer, but I don't have it during the winter. The energy I don't use during the summer doesn’t get to be used during the winter.
I am not happy. If there's a way I can get out of this, I would do it. I don't understand why it was explained that during the summer, if I had excess, that it would carry over in the winter. It’s not. I don't know what the heck happened. I tried to contact Sunrun at one point and I just gave up.
I would not recommend Sunrun to anyone, knowing what it is. At the beginning, it was awesome. But since everything's been hooked up, it's been icky.

Stay away from Sunrun. This company is evil. The sales process went fine, install went fine, but I recently discovered my account was set up incorrectly. I am also not receiving the monthly rate that was estimated during the sales process. It's more. They are demanding direct access to my checking account to BEGIN fixing the problem. Uh, no. Customer service is verbally abusive and taunts customers. The sales contract is 54 pages long and you are pressured to DocuSign in minutes. No way to read all the horrendous fine print legalese, where they basically own you, control your home and you are stuck with them for 25 years. I wish I had never signed up. I feel like a sucker who just got conned. This is a mess. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and my state attorney general. If enough of us act, the government might intervene against SunRun. Please contact the authorities.

Thank you for the installation and service provided. Ms. Nicole ** provided guidance when I had questions. I was happy that they were using their Safety Equipment while on the roof. When the fire inspector came and requested new breakers, they came and fix the electrical breaker panel. Final approval was happy day for me. I am happy with the battery backup, they provide reassurance. So far what was promise I received.

After being misinformed upon signing, not only did Sunrun drop the ball with the installation they dragged my poor grandma through the mud for over a year. From spiked utility bills doubling even tripling month after month. The company even attempted to intimidate my grandmother which forced me to have to take over. They damaged my grandmother's roof as well as improperly installed the system. Yet refuse to repair or make any corrections. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AND CAREFUL.

From the day lease was signed, I have had nothing but negative issues with Sunrun. From moving my whole main panel two times. Then missed inspections with city. Electrician sub was great. He was the only good experience with the install. Now that I am up and running...My bill is running up as well. $2,500 for two months with nobody in home for two weeks. Only response I get is, "We can send you to escalation representative." That's nice! He will respond within the week! I have now consulted a corporate lawyer to handle the situation. They will be in touch within the week.

I thought as Costco supported them- there would be some reliability. They ruined our roof. It has leaked 3 times and they refuse to do the repairs the way our roofer recommends. They are impossible to get a hold of- it takes multiple calls, voicemails, calling for supervisors, and when you finally get a response, the person who responds is clearly undertrained and puts you off yet again. They send out repair people who admit lack of experience. They say you can use your own roofer to repair, but won't approve their quote. Go with ANY other company. I would give them zero stars if I could.

I will avoid never-ending PGE utility bill increases with minor % annual increases in my Sunrun bill. Very clearly explained. I prefer leasing & leave care of system to experts. That’s a comparison savings of expected 40-50 dollars a month, a nice dinner monthly. They quickly installed everything and are there to answer technical questions if needed.

We've had Sunrun for 4 years. Last year the battery defaulted and they handled it well but was told it would take 4 weeks to get the new battery. Now our converter has gone bad and for 2 months, no one has responded to my inquiries. I've loved Sunrun from the beginning, they were always on top of it when an issue popped up. Not sure what has happened but almost 3 months without solar and I'm still being charged monthly. Sunrun... What's happened??

Do not get ripped off. You basically have to be an expert on contract laws *and* the electrical industry to get an acceptable deal with large solar corporations such as Sunrun. For example, when the telemetry on my system stopped working, I was told to pay $584.00 for a "System Performance Investigation." Bear in mind that if you get someone else (i.e. not Sunrun) to do the diagnosis and/or repair, they will void your warranty. With the advent of NEM 3.0, I doubt that you would save money on your energy bills getting solar panels on your roof especially if you are just an average consumer of energy at around 500-600 kWh/month. But if you consume more energy than that, maybe it would make sense to get solar panels; just do your research first.

We had some problems at the beginning with our Wi-Fi connection mostly because we live out in the country and our Wi-Fi was inconsistent. But the Sunrun technicians came out promptly and made everything work as it should.
This year our old, gas generator finally quit on us and we decided to get back up batteries installed. We called Sunrun and they were up and running in less than two months, just in time for fire season. We are so pleased with the batteries. They come on instantly when there is a power outage. The app that came with them has taught us so much about how much electricity we use and even what appliances use the most. It also tells us when we are using battery power and when we are getting electricity from the grid. I check the app every day to make sure our solar panels are working, and I am learning how to conserve electricity so much more efficiently. We couldn’t be more pleased with Sunrun. It has been a wonderful experience to or with such a professional company.

Run, run far and fast. They installed the panels where the two-story next door blocks all morning sun. They sent one man out in 2018 or 2019 to move a few panels himself. When he left, he said they will return with a solar eye. I was told my panels would need to be raised to catch the sun. Never came back out. In 2018 and 2019 they confirmed that I was not producing as I should be, but after that, with no changes, I suddenly get what I pay for. Only I don't. They claim they can not "locate you" and close cases. Granted, I am right below their solar panels, US mail can find me, but they don't send mail when you have auto pay. Stay away. They don't care about customers once they have the contract signed and will do all they can to void warranties, while blaming the consumer.

I have had SunRun for several years. Their customer support is lacking. I also know they have zero service teams in my city making it difficult to have repairs completed. I currently have two panels with broken glass and I have been informed that said panels are not failed.

Would recommend Sunrun as a solar and battery installation provider. Sales met our needs and was a no pressure experience. Patience is required for all the city and utility permitting and inspections and our customer experience team was very helpful walking us through the process. We received all approvals and are online now and are very happy with the results in savings and security of "no more blackouts" from our utility provider in our area.

SDGE True Up after 12 months installed results in surplus in excess of $198.00. No problems with system for troubleshooting. Our solar experience has been better that our expectation. With the many options available & horror stories of many ‘fly by night’ companies soliciting your decision becomes very stressful. The capital investment may impact retirement concerns. We’re happy with SunRun as a reputable Solar Company option.

I love Sunrun. I’m thrilled with them. We live in New Hampshire, where electricity rates are some of the highest in the country, and it was terrible. When my children were young, we had electric heat, and back in the early ’90s our bill was $500 a month. The standard of living in New Hampshire isn’t that high.
It’s been about two years now since I’ve been on the program, whatever they call it. Last year, the power company actually had to pay me at the end of the year. It was awesome.
I didn’t have any cash. They came in and did some work in my attic and took care of everything at no additional cost. The young man who sold me the system was good. He was always available and easy to reach. I have a great location for solar, I generate a lot of power, especially on sunny days. I’ve never had any problems.
One time, I had to call about something, and a young man came out. He helped me download the app so I could check and make sure all my panels were running. Every once in a while, Sometimes I’ll get a notice saying something’s going on, the snow falls off.
Honestly, I recommend it to everyone. We even had extra people living here this past winter, and our bill was still very small. Compared to what we used to pay and with rates continuing to rise in New Hampshire, it’s a huge difference. It used to be called Public Service, but now I call it Public Disservice.
They built a power plant back in the ’70s, and the consumers had to pay for it. It’s right on the coast, and New Hampshire doesn’t have much coastline, only about 17 miles and it’s very crowded. There’s a nuclear power plant in the state, but we don’t even get the power from it, they sell it to Canada. Yet we still have to pay for the nuclear plant.
The state doesn’t have much control over the utility. There’s a utilities commission, but they just rubber-stamp every rate increase. There’s really no accountability, we’re at their mercy. That’s why I appreciate this so much, and I would definitely recommend it. Plus, there’s a lot of possibilities. My nephew even suggested that I get a solar car which I’m looking into now.
My salesman said they used to cut everyone a check quarterly, but then it became once a year. They sent a tax form like a 1099-B and getting it was like pulling teeth. I couldn’t get the form, then sign it, and there were all these arbitrary deadlines. I kept thinking what’s going on. They owe me money, why do I have to jump through hoops. But they finally got it done.
The young men they hired, the contractors who came into my home and installed the panels were very professional. I’ve never had any trouble with the panels. They’re very knowledgeable, understand all the math, and even handled our roof, which was almost too steep. They knew the angles and everything, they were very intelligent and helpful.

I was looking at adding a solar array to my house and was impressed with everything I read about Sunrun from online reviews. I signed up for a brand-new installation, and the salesperson was very clear, easy to understand, and very flexible with the different payment options. Installation was well-organized and efficient. All the materials were here and the crew did a great job. They cleaned up well afterwards. Over the course of a year, we net out to zero electricity payment. We overproduce and balance out the electricity we have to purchase during off hours. I love it. All in all, I've been very impressed with Sunrun’s consistently good customer service.
