I came in as an informed person having a small idea of what the numbers needed to be. Joey listened to my requests & questions and answered everything with confidence. It finally makes sense for us to use solar.
This is awesome,Mark! Your positive feedback is like a ray of sunshine to us, and we're so happy we could guide you through your solar experience. Thanks for going solar with us!

A Sunrun rep approached me and told me about their program. I was not too aware of it, but I took a chance and I am glad that I did. They are very good and there's a person there who is what they call a gold medal. We had one situation two years ago when my roof was leaking and I asked them to come move the panel for me to do over my roof. They charged me $300 per panel to move the roof, but it was due to their installation that my roof was leaking, because that was a brand-new house. Then for some reason, Sunrun didn't move the panel. I tried to fix it several times, then I got it done. So, I'm hoping to God it remains good.
Since I had that situation with Sunrun, I went to someone else to do another house, which was SunCo. They have done the installation in 2022 and up till now the solar is not working. The government had them under investigation and they went out of business. The solar panels just stayed there, brand new on the roof, and you cannot get in touch with no one. So, I wanted to give the job to Sunrun, but I had other issues with them.
They finished installing the panels in 2017, but the job never got signed off until eight years later. I was having the problem not getting the job signed off because Sunrun hired an electrician in New Jersey to do the job, then he went to Canada and never signed off the job. A lot of problems also happened. But eventually, I spoke to one of their reps and she was the one that got them to sign it off last year. She was on top of her game and she really made it happen for me. So far, that's the only bad experience I had with Sunrun and I'm able to understand that life has its ups and downs. They just have to be careful with who they're subbing out the jobs to. They have to have a history and a good record. All in all, I am happy with the service.
Thank you for your thoughtful review, Curtis. We know your journey wasn't without challenges, and we're grateful you gave us the opportunity to make things right. Thank you for your patience and trust in Sunrun!

Sunrun's service is really great when we initiated everything. We haven't had any problems at all. Their app is good. Initially, my husband and I did all the calculations, and in the long run, it's better to just pay the amount that we did in cash, and then not have to worry about paying electricity for the rest of our lives. But then, my daughter and her husband and their child moved in. This was the first time in April that the true-up occurred, and it was just under $300. They ended up paying it. But in the long run, we don't have to pay it; they do, but that's just because of their energy usage. It gives us peace of mind. Plus, we're also helping our environment, contributing to global climate change.
Sunrun communicated every step of the way. There was a little glitch, and the salesperson that I dealt with communicated with them, and everything went smoothly. We only got the solar panels. The battery storage is too expensive. We just have our own generator upstairs and downstairs, and in case we ever need it, we have a backup. The installation went very smoothly as well. They communicated what needed to be done step by step, and everyone was very professional, very respectful of the property, and cleaned up after themselves. They were neat and tidy all the way through.
This is awesome, Linda! Your positive feedback is like a ray of sunshine to us, and we're so happy we could guide you through your solar experience. Thanks for going solar with us!

My sister had solar panels put in through Sunrun and was happy with them. She referred Jeff, who contacted her and took care of everything. We were putting on a new roof, and when that was finished, I contacted Jeff and told him I was interested in solar panels. He explained everything, and even now he says I can call him anytime if I have questions. We already knew how the system worked because we had some panels installed before but they weren't producing enough. So, we put the extra panels on and a battery. The installation was fast and easy, and everything went smoothly. The workers were efficient. Shane, one of the gentlemen, explained everything about the panels and what PG&E was going to do.
I would recommend Sunrun. I've talked to quite a few people about it because PG&E's prices are ridiculous. Living in Bakersfield, it gets hot and we need to be able to run the AC. We were so happy with our experience that I told one of my neighbors about it, and he ended up getting Sunrun too. We're very happy we put in solar, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It was a great experience from beginning to end. I like Sunrun and I wouldn't go with anyone else.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience, Alicia! We're so glad Jeff took the time to guide you through the process and that your installation went smoothly from start to finish. It's great to hear that you're happy with your system and battery, and appreciate you recommending Sunrun to your friends and neighbors!

First, I have looked a several Solar Systems, purchase, lease, PPE and this new program that Sunrun is coordinating with PG&E worked for me. From the time I met Jake ** (Sales Representative) to installation with city permits was only 6 days. Installation was completed in one day, and started generating power same day. The Installation Crew was awesome, they were professional, courteous, punctual and Safety was the utmost of importance to the team. The crew left no evidence of being at my house when they left. A Big Shout out to Team "Oden", Octavio, Tim, Pedro & Anthony!!!!

Some friends of ours had Sunrun, and they were so happy about it. They told a bunch of us, and we tried it. We are very pleased with the system. We've had it for four years now. The pricing is reasonable. And we have had two events that required extra care last year. We had a battery that stopped operating properly. And just this year, we had an inverter that stopped operating. But in both cases, the problem was solved.
But my issue was being able to contact Sunrun and getting somebody to call me back, getting a good detail on the time, and I had to just keep staying on Sunrun. That part I wasn't happy about. But once they caught on to it, they needed to fix this stuff, and they became very responsive. But using the app to have that conversation is just crazy. I don't even wanna do it. I wanna talk to customer service. But the system is good and we've benefited from it. Each thing that had to be fixed was fixed.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Jon! We're so glad to hear you're happy with your system and that our team was able to resolve the issues with your inverter and optimizer. We value your feedback about the communication experience and will be sure to share it with our team. Thanks for choosing Sunrun!

When Sunrun did their presentation, they were very straightforward. They said, “We'll do an estimate, determine the panel. We can do on your house, and how much it's gonna cost.” The installation was really easy. I took a couple of days. Now, our electric bill is $40 a month. We are in Arizona, and before going solar, our bill was about 400 in the summer. We're really saving. We are extremely happy.

We wanted to lower our energy bill. We were already a member through Vivint. Sunrun bought Vivint, and we've been a customer with Sunrun for a long time. Everything's been the same. We've never had a problem with Sunrun at all. They had called a couple of years ago and I said, "Oh, I'm all set," and hung up. They called right back and said, "Don't hang up, we're your solar company." I thought it was one of those calls. Apparently, they're out of California, and said that a red flag came up on our account and they want to send somebody to check everything. I said okay and that was the last I ever heard from them.

One of Sunrun’s sales reps came by, and he was very thorough. He explained everything and showed us the cost savings and what's great about it. The installer was always coming around, checking on me and how the system was working. He did a very good job, and I liked him. The installation went smoothly and took five hours. But getting it up and running took a while. It was around five months before it was fully functional. Then, I started seeing some savings. Other times, I saw it skyrocket because of the weather outside. You could go to the app and look at what's going on. It's simple. They explained it very well.
Once we lose power out here, we lose power in the house, too. The battery backup would probably have saved me on that one. But I didn't want to do the battery backup that Sunrun was offering because it’s a little pricey right now. The price goes up every few months. I started with 116 and now, it's at 125. So, I'm assuming Sunrun tacks on a few dollars every year. It's not gonna stop at any point. But other than that, I'm good with it. I enjoy that Sunrun is saving me money on my electricity bill, and people should go for it.

What I was sold and what I received were completely different. I was told I would have a fixed expense of $153 a month. I would have no additional electric bill. In actuality my bill is going up 3% a year and I'm still having to buy power. A Sunrun rep came to my house and told me they did not install enough panels. I've called and tried to contact them and to no avail. So now I have a 25-year contract that's going up 3% a year and all of my electricity needs are not met. Very disappointed.

I am glad that I'm overproducing and adding energy to ComEd, but it would be nice if ComEd gave me something back for it. That's just the way the system is. I like the idea that I can run my air conditioning and not have to worry about the cost. The problem is I'm a frugal man. I'm 75 years old. I'm used to turning lights off. I still turn lights off, even though I don't have to. I do, because I still conserve energy. I'm in that mindset because I got more panels than I need. I wanted a lot of panels because I had a lot of roof. My electric bill is $20 a month. I got a two-story house, and four bedrooms. I'm thinking about getting rid of my gas stove and going electric, and getting rid of more gas appliances and going more electric. Do I own my panels if my 15 years of paying on my them is done? Are they mine? No more paying Sunrun for them every month. I'm a little unclear about that. Other than that, I'm very happy with Sunrun. Go with them.

I wanted to do something to offset my electric bill. I heard about Sunrun from a friend who has Sunrun panels on his house on the Cape. I've had absolutely no problems interacting with Sunrun. The panels work as they're supposed to. My last electric bill was $34, and I only have 10 panels. I use the Sunrun app for tracking. I don't care for the way it changed. I prefer the previous version. The graphs were more understandable for me in the previous version than they are in the current version. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with Sunrun. The biggest benefit of having them is the drop in my electric bill. It’s 65 bucks a month right now, but it goes up 3.25% every year. So, if you take my electric bill last month, which was $34, and add the $65, I'm really paying 100 bucks for electricity, which is a heck of a lot better than the 230 that I was paying previously. My decision to go with Sunrun has worked out 100% for me so far.
Thank you for your thoughtful review, David! It's great to hear your installation went smoothly and that you're seeing incredible savings! We appreciate your feedback about the app, as it helps us continue improving your customer experience. Thanks for choosing Sunrun!

I am not one to leave reviews but I am very disappointed in this company. We never had any major issues with this our solar panels until recent. A piece of our equipment stopped working in November and we were unaware, especially because we do not produce much energy in the winter months. Last month we checked to see how much energy we were producing because our eversource bills have been very high still, and it turns out we haven't produced anything since November. Sunrun put in a "ticket" in January knowing that our solar panels were not working and did nothing about it. We called in May and they say they needed to send someone out and they would schedule something. Two weeks later and we still haven't had anyone come out so we call again. They finally send someone out a week and a half after that, so now we are looking at a month of waiting and more money gooing in their pocket for nothing.
The gentleman who came was great and fixed it for us, but he had to completely replace a part. After being "fixed" we still didn't start showing anything until the last 2 days. According to an employee we had to wait for the ticket to be "closed" in order to get reimbursed the money that we have paid for nothing for 6 months. Well turns out that sunrun is refusing to refund us any money because it isn't their fault, so we are out over $2000 between our monthly payment and Eversource bills. Yes we have a contract and we read through it and it says they will not take responsibility unless it is a solar system misfunction. But again, in JANUARY they knew there was an issue and did nothing to let us know.
How could we possibly know a part wasn't working in the winter when we typically produce little to nothing. Do not go with a company who takes zero accountability and only cares about lining their pockets with money. I would never recommend this company to anyone, and they should be disappointed that they knew there was an issue and did nothing to help solve it.

But the roofers did a great job, the electricians and the construction crews were great. Now we get to the start up and everyone's ghosting me. Called the Sunrun main office and get a run around. Salesman was "let go". Come to find out he had a reaction to some meds and needed some time off. They let him go. The project manager isn't replying to my chat. All this sun and no hook up...all the switches are on. All the inspections are done. Over a month I've been trying to get an answer. No return calls.

When Sunrun first came to us, we were told that if we installed solar panels, we would only have to pay our net metering bill once a year, and that it would be a very low cost because the solar system would produce more electricity than we used. We even asked about adding extra panels at the time, but we were told we did not need them. For a while, my annual net metering bill was about $176. However, it has now increased to over $500. When I contacted the electric company, they explained that my solar panels are no longer producing enough power for the grid to offset my usage, and that I am using more electricity than my system is generating. The electric company told me to contact Sunrun. When I did, I was told that the only solution was to sign a completely new contract to add more panels. This would also require additional equipment, including batteries, and would increase my monthly costs by approximately $150.
I feel that the sales representative misled us. We specifically asked about adding more panels from the beginning, and we were told it would not be a problem if we ever needed them. Now, instead of honoring what was represented to us, Sunrun is requiring us to enter into a new contract and pay significantly more money for the additional panels that we originally wanted. None of this was clearly explained to us when we signed the original agreement. Had we been properly informed, we would have made a different decision at the time. When I raised these concerns, I was told that I "should have thought about it when I signed the contract" and that there was nothing they could do other than offer a new contract.
I am on a fixed income and should have the batteries discounted at the very least instead of having to renew a contract. Salespeople and company are not on the same page. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I feel that I was misled during the sales process and that the promises made to us were not honored. I am requesting that Sunrun correct this issue without requiring me to pay additional costs for the panels I originally requested. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Sunrun to my friends or family.

Sunrun made it easy. My electricity bill was high. It's better now because it's not that high. My husband passed away, so I lost some of his income. This helps a bit. This time of the year, my light bill is inexpensive, which makes it nice when you open up your light bill, and you don't see a $400 or $500 bill. The main concern was I didn't know if I want to be logged in for so many years. I don't know how many years that I have to be obligated. But it doesn't hurt to give Sunrun a try. In the long run, you're going to save money. There's a girl that I know who has Sunrun. She put it in for her and her mother. I guess she's satisfied with hers, too.

I went through a program within the city of Los Angeles and Sunrun was the company affiliated with it. The guys who came out were great. They also did some minor roof repairs. They were very well-behaved, mannered and respectful people. They installed about six or eight panels on the roof. We wanted a bigger system, but the roof didn’t allow for it because of setbacks that were being incorporated during that time. They were able to go to the edge, but they had to give a three-foot setback per area, which took some panels away. But we are getting enough to cover our usage at the moment. We’ve noticed a big difference in our electrical bills. We’re getting $1.40, $1.50, $1.80, even $2.00. We had a larger bill once, around $60, because the meter wasn’t read and they did an estimate, but it was reimbursed.
I like the app that Sunrun gave us to use. It's a game-changer. You can see in real time what your system is actually generating. It keeps you in the loop with no surprises. We're leasing from Sunrun and the way it is set up is that the program reimburses Sunrun for X amount of use through the program. So, the price we are paying is just gonna be anything that we use over what's produced. I've got a system on my other two properties. I bought one, but I went with the lease on the other. I like the lease. It is a lot better and people should go for it.
Hi Michael, thank you for your thoughtful review! We're glad to hear your installation experience went smoothly and that your system is helping offset your energy costs. A young man came to our door and talked to me and my daughter about reducing SDG&E. We looked into Sunrun more and ended up getting solar panels through them. They were very quick and very good. This is the first time I’ve had solar panels and it’s been a couple of years since I got them. We also did a roof redo, and it enhanced the home and took a lot of pressure off us financially. Sunrun did everything they said they were going to do.
I retired from Ma Bell, which taught customer service. So, that's what I look for in every company that I deal with, and the customer service from Sunrun is top of the line. The price is good and has balanced out with SDG&E, and I am getting more for my money. It's nice when I can see so many different homes with solar panels that are in my neighborhood and in neighborhoods that I do business with. So, we're using things that are more natural. I love Sunrun. It’s been the best I’ve ever had with any kind of company like that. If I had issues, they were available to take care of them.

Go to Sunrun, who will treat you fairly, and you'll be happy in the long run. I've never had the occasion to go back to them. I've been with them for a couple of years now, so everything is going well. I've read some reports beforehand that said Sunrun does not act as quickly as they could for complaints. But I have had no complaints, so I'm not in that field yet, and I hope I don't get in there.
Sunrun was the largest company that I was aware of at that time. I like large companies because if I have a problem, I feel I can get to somebody eventually that will resolve my problem. I was asked what my average cost per month was for electricity, and I told them $135 a month. They said they could put the panels up for $106 a month, and I would get some additional expense from the electricity company in Las Vegas, Nevada, which ranges between $16 and $20 a month. So, I’m ahead by $8 from what the arrangement was. It was a draw.
Since I got solar, I made the right decision, because the costs of everything keep going up. The arrangement that I had with Sunrun will stand if the prices go up. But down the road, I'm waiting to see. Right now, I'm average with people that don't have solar panels, and most people in Las Vegas do not have panels on their roofs yet. I'm now wondering whether the pigeons that are sitting on my panels will damage my panels.
We really appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Ronald! I first heard about Sunrun because we already had them from another house. We got it through Costco. When I called in, the customer service was good. I told them that I didn’t want to pay for service, and they told me it’s a lease or a rental, so I was okay with that. Since going solar, I haven’t had any problems. I just don’t like the rain because when it’s cloudy, it doesn’t produce, so I lose money. Overall, I would recommend solar panels because it saves a lot of money.

My family’s experience with Sunrun has been extremely frustrating and concerning. The issue started in February 2026 after my brother’s home sale closed on 02/06/26. Despite the property transfer, Sunrun continued withdrawing ACH payments from his checking account for two leases after the close of escrow. I immediately began contacting Sunrun to obtain reimbursement for those post-sale withdrawals. Instead of resolving the refund issue promptly, the situation turned into months of repeated calls, conflicting information between departments, collection activity for balances that should never have existed, and almost no meaningful communication from management despite multiple requests to speak with supervisors. During this process, I received only one direct phone call from Customer Solutions.
Most concerning of all, Sunrun repeatedly contacted my brother directly even after being informed multiple times that he has dementia and should not be contacted regarding account matters. Sunrun was also informed that I held Power of Attorney for him, and copies of the POA documentation were provided. Despite this, the direct calls to him continued.
Different representatives appeared unable to see prior notes, understand the account history, or communicate internally with one another. On more than one occasion, representatives could not even explain why they were calling him. At one point, Sunrun representatives continued discussing alleged balances owed while the company still had not refunded money already withdrawn from his account after the home sale. The entire situation reflected a serious lack of internal coordination and poor handling of a vulnerable customer situation. The matter eventually escalated to the point that I sent a certified letter directly to Sunrun’s legal department in order to get meaningful attention to the issue. Even after that, nobody from the legal department ever contacted me directly.
My concerns are not about one employee. They are about Sunrun’s overall systems, communication between departments, handling of account transfers after home sales, responsiveness to customers, and protections for vulnerable individuals. I strongly recommend that anyone selling a home with a Sunrun agreement monitor their bank accounts carefully after closing, keep detailed records, and document every interaction.

The purpose of installing solar panels on my roof and entering into a 20-year lease agreement was to reduce my monthly energy costs. However, I’ve been made aware that Sunrun continues to adjust and charge the monthly solar payment even when the system is not functioning. This effectively means that if the system is down or not producing, I am still responsible for paying my full utility electric bill in addition to the solar lease payment. This situation defeats the purpose of the agreement, as the expected savings are not being realized when the system is not operational. I would like clarification on how this is handled and what steps can be taken to ensure the system is functioning properly or to address billing concerns during periods of non-production.

I've had a wonderful experience with Sunrun. I had them come in 2012 and they assessed the property. They said that we would be a good fit, but they would have to assess the roof to see if it's sturdy enough to take the panels. Then we went on a contract. They came back and we ended up getting the panels done. We decided to pay it all up front, but there are some concern I had with them. This happened a year ago, and that really got me pissed off about them. They have battery backup. So, I called in and told them I would like to have my battery backup and I asked if they could do an assessment to see if I was eligible. They came and did the assessment, and they said I was eligible to get it, but they had to run my credit.
They ended up telling me that my credit was not a 620, so they would not be able to accommodate me and give me the battery backup, which was $110 a month, and that was for 10 years. After that, you would have the right to either buy it or go back on that contract. That got me very upset because I felt that I've been with them for a very long time. I'm a senior. I said, "Being that I have been a loyal customer of you guys for a long time, I do not understand why that is such a big deal that it has to be a 620." My credit score was 610.
I started to realize something was wrong and I complained about it. They sent me to different people. Apparently, they subcontract a lot of their products and the person that I was working with in Florida is a subcontract, and he didn't give the right information. Then they sent me to somebody else, and I got the same running around, until finally, I said, "This is not for me." I just stopped interacting with that.
Another thing, too, is I called them to get my solar panels cleaned. They were telling me that I'm gonna have to pay $350 for it. I thought that was unfair. It's not something that I ask all the time. There are times where in Hawaii, it gets really gummy, and I don't have the extra money or the people to come in and get that done. I said, "Since this is your panel, I don't want it to get broken, or if something happened, I get somebody else to come up there and clean it and damage it. Since this is your product, I'd rather do it from you." They're insisting I had to pay them upfront before they could come. That was not really nice.
When you call, they keep sending you outside of the United States, and no one follows up. Sunrun's reputation has gone down because of that. The customer service has gone down the drain because of that. They're not being honorable. Other than that, the equipment is great. And if I needed something to be checked, they would come with no charge. They would change it with no problem. I saved better for the first seven years. And after that, it seems to have gone down and down. I think that it's not as profitable as it used to be. My bill used to run from February all the way down to about 100 and less, and now it's not. I just finished paying my bill last month, and it was over $200, and that's crazy.

Everything is okay, because the system works good. We have the two Tesla batteries now. They were installed two years ago. It's helping us, because when I look on my cell phone, it’s the batteries that are working to supply our electricity. There was one time after they installed the battery that something kept going on our electricity. I called Sunrun, but they called me to call a local electrician. I asked the electrician to install the switch for the AC, because every time the AC turned on, something would pop that says it's not enough voltage. But Sunrun reimbursed me. I will recommend Sunrun.

Nevada Energy kept going up, and it was getting kind of out of control in the summer. I decided to go solar and went with Sunrun. The power purchase agreement is what we chose to go with. If I could have, I definitely would have bought it outright, but the PPA works, too. The first six months were a little bit bumpy. We never were out of electricity, but there were times that the Sunrun system was not connected. So, they had to do repairs but they were good about doing it. They also didn't charge us if it wasn't running. So, we've been very happy. Ever since then, we've had no issues with it. In fact, it's doing great. Right now, it's producing three days’ worth every day. So, I'm banking and we're finding then that we hardly ever have anything but a connection fee to pay to Nevada Energy.
Whatever energy we're not using, they save it all up. So, if we're only using 24 hours a day, and we're producing three days’ worth, they're banking the two days’ worth. So, then suppose we get a week of solid rain and or not collecting any power, we've got days of power banked, so we don't get charged for the power we use if it's banked. I like it. I'm happy with it.

My experience with Sunrun has been consistently disappointing and, at times, unacceptable. Communication throughout the process has been unreliable—calls and emails frequently go unanswered, and when responses are received, they often fail to resolve the issue at hand. The installation process lacked organization and transparency, with unclear timelines and minimal coordination. More concerning, however, is the apparent failure to properly assess my energy needs prior to system design and installation. The system provided is undersized relative to my actual usage, resulting in a significant shortfall in expected production. As a direct consequence, I am now obligated to make monthly payments to both Sunrun and my primary utility provider. This outcome contradicts the fundamental premise of transitioning to solar energy and raises serious concerns regarding the accuracy and integrity of the initial evaluation process.
Post-installation support has been equally deficient. Service requests are slow to be addressed, and responsibility appears diffused across multiple departments, with no clear ownership or accountability. Commitments made during customer interactions are not consistently fulfilled, requiring persistent follow-up on my part. Given the financial commitment involved and the expectations set during the sales process, this level of service is not acceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Sunrun. Prospective customers should exercise caution and ensure that any provider conducts a thorough and accurate assessment of their energy requirements and stands behind their service commitments.

I like that Sunrun owns the product. I don't own anything. I'm in a 20-year contract with them. During that time period, my two boys moved out, so it's like a Catch-22 with me. Also, my wife and I both work, so we're not home a lot but I think I'm saving somewhat money in the long run. I don't know if it's gonna bite me in the back. Because it's a contract, it's 1.5% every year. I don't even have 10 years with them yet. I feel they should come out more often. But that's just the inspector in me. I'm an inspector for the fire department. I deal with complicated contractors and property owners. I'm very conscientious. So, they normally call, "Hey, we're gonna go and do this, do that." They've been out maybe twice since I've owned it, but overall, I'm optimistic. I'm pretty sure I'm saving somewhat some kind of money.
There are other things I looked at. I had my roof repaired, and the subcontractors they used weren't very informative on replying back to my request, "We're going to do it on this day?" Yes or no confirmation. So, that was more of an office clerical type of position. The contractor came out. He was a young kid and was very knowledgeable. I normally question people when they come work on my house, and I was very satisfied with the way he answered me. The work he did was very exceptional. The administrative side of it at the company that they work for, I'd give them a 1. I would never recommend that company. Office personnel weren't knowledgeable or they didn't care.
Other than that, I would recommend Sunrun. I always recommend them and, so far, I'm very happy with everything. But a lot of people are very skeptical because they don't understand what they're stepping into. I know I have the option to buy the panels, but I don't want to own anything. I feel comfortable that way.

Buying from Sunrun was the worst financial decision I’ve made. We paid $10,000 for an installation in late 2019, and the system has already broken twice in less than six years. The first time it broke (mid-2023), Sunrun never even notified us that we weren't producing energy. It took until April 2024 to get them repaired. Those repairs lasted only 15 months before the system failed again in July 2025. Now, the panels are rusty and ugly, and Sunrun has the audacity to demand a $600 workmanship fee, as it says in the contract. What about their website: it states "Solar panels can last anywhere between 25 to 30 years, sometimes more." Do not be fooled by the sales pitch. The equipment is poor quality and the service "guarantees" are a joke. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Our electricity was too expensive. Switching to Sunrun was seamless. They just updated their app, and it's very intuitive. Any information you need is right there. It's been a good experience. I have two Tesla batteries. In the summertime, the solar is working the whole time. Where we live, it can be upwards of 80 degrees at night, but we're still running the AC overnight, and the battery just powers the whole house the rest of the time until the sun comes up and starts charging them again. So, any solar system should have battery backup. It doesn't make any sense to not have it. As an example, the power went out over the winter for about six hours, and we still had everything going because we had the battery backup. So, they don't replace a generator for folks in Tornado Alley where you're going to be out of power for a long period of time, but they do solve rolling blackouts or anything that California has to offer. So far, it's been a no-brainer.

I've been with Sunrun for several years now. The last time that I had another system installed was last year. Prior to that, I've already been a customer of theirs for a couple of years. Recently, I had Tesla batteries installed. I had more solar panels installed. I was not so happy with installation because I was still paying Edison a lot. So, they did some checking, and I'm happy now because my Edison bills had gone down drastically. Since the second installation that I had, I thought I'm going to be totally free from Edison. I was thinking of getting a second electric car. Right now, I'm happy that I'm at least close to self-sufficient with one electric car. When I had a second system installed, I wanted to be self-sufficient even with a second electric car, and I don't think I can achieve that goal if I get another electric car.
Sunrun will work with you if you haven't achieved the goal that you set to achieve. But currently, if I get a second electric car, then I probably wouldn't be in the same situation that I am now, which is not the goal that I set for the second installation. So far, I'm tracking with Edison what my bill is going to be, and it is in the negative. So, I would be expecting that in the next bill, Edison would owe me something.

Going solar with Sunrun is a good choice because they're very efficient and trouble-free. I had a particular place where I wanted all the equipment to be set up, and they were able to do it exactly the way I wanted it. That was wonderful, because they usually have a set thing in mind that they want to do, and they don't want to deviate from it. But my idea was better, and they went ahead and did it the way I liked it inside my garage. There was nothing outside except for the panels on the roof. The only hiccup was getting approval from Edison. They hold things up a bit. It took two months to get my permit to turn it on. But Sunrun took care of that. They did their due diligence and followed up on that, and they finally got it approved that I could start my solar project. I got the latest Edison bill, and I have a $14 surplus.

When I started with Sunrun many years ago, they kept coming up with various different bills and carrying on. I have a trail of emails and text messages that I saved. It was a very horrible experience. Finally, after almost a year, things got settled, then they started charging me. But my roof is destroyed. I've been trying to ask them because when they advertise they say they'll fix your roof and do this and that. But they did nothing. They just put the solar panels over the bad roof and left it there. Now, I can't do anything.
The service is not what they advertise for because I didn't get the roof they were supposed to fix. I can't even fix the roof because it's gonna cost me at least $7,000 to pull those panels off to fix the roof. Then they tried to charge me for the permit fees which are stuff that should have been taken care by them because I am only paying a monthly rate on it. This monthly rate was supposed to be done in 10 years. When 10 years came up, I asked them about it, and they said it was 15 years so I'm still paying on it.
Sunrun is saving me some money now with my electric. But I had to call them once because the panels weren't producing. The guy that came out shut everything down in the electrical box and never bothered to pull it back up. I kept telling them there was something wrong. The electric company would tell me to go to Sunrun but Sunrun would tell me go to the electric company. It was going back and forth. Finally, Sunrun sent somebody out and the guy told me the breaker was off. So for four months, I was paying very high bill in electric and was still paying Sunrun monthly.

When we bought our home in 2015, we had multiple door-to-door salesmen coming and talking to us about solar. Then David stopped by our house one evening, and he was so pleasant and answered all my questions without any hesitation. He knew what the answers were. We set an appointment, and he came over and gave me information. I interviewed about three other companies, and Sunrun sounded like it had the best option for us with the program and with the benefits of the lease program and getting the discount through our tax refund over the next couple of years to reimburse us for the tax credit.
We didn't have quite enough panels on our house because we'd only been in the house for a year. It was kind of hard to identify how many panels we would need. So, we added on some second panels that I had called David back and asked him, and he said he wasn't with Sunrun anymore, but he could give me some information about a company that he felt was good. So, they came over and gave us some more panels.
My last bill was only like $36 for the electric through APS, and then we make the payment to Sunrun and also to the other company. But I'm pleased that Sunrun is still in business. We were noticing where our electric bills were going up just a little bit, but we had heard a loud thunder clap one night, and it sounded like lightning struck somewhere really close. Then a part inside of our solar panel on the side that registers everything wasn't converting the way it should be.
Sunrun saw it on their end and called us up and said, “We see that there's an issue here. Can we come out and check it out?” I told them, “Yeah. We've just noticed our last bill was a little higher than it should have been.” So, they checked it out and got it ordered, and it was at a time when it was really hard to get those chips. It didn't take very long, though. As soon as they got it, they were back out here, got it up and running, and it's been running great ever since. So, our experience with Sunrun has been great.
We have referred Sunrun to several people, too. We got a credit for somebody we referred you to, and they decided to go with Sunrun. Recently, on Nextdoor, people were asking about solar and what did we think. I put in our two cents with Sunrun and said it was a great company, and I've been pleased. We've had them for over 10 years. I gave them an example of my electric bill just last month, and other people were complaining that theirs were really high because we've had unusually hot weather.

January 2026 to today 1181 KWH. Before solar I never had usage like this after solar panels installation Comed send me more usage bill for hourly rate for nights. The salesperson outright lied about the contract. The company will not honor what I was promised. The customer service team is not helpful at all. The panels themselves work fine. However, My contract is I should get KWH to KWH credit for my Comed not KWH to Penny.
Tried to contact Sunrun salesman. He didn’t care. January 8th 2025 to February 12th nobody was home. Only one table lamp was left on for only 2 hour every night. That's all and my that month was my highest electric KWH used since I am living in my house. Called Comed and Sunrun. Nobody cares and nobody helped me since February 2025 I never paid any bills and specially Sunrun calls me everyday and since last February I told them to remove your panels but no one cares. Also I am getting calls from Sunrun but when I answered they said, "We are just collection agency." I told them to call your clients without knowing do not call me otherwise I would have to take legal action.

Sunrun is not what I thought it was. Because right now, I'm getting two bills. I get one from the electric company, and I'm getting one from Sunrun. It started out okay, but it sucks. I'm paying twice as much as I normally would be paying. It didn't improve anything. For the last year, I've been getting $150 bills from the electric company, plus I'm getting Sunrun bills, and it is terrible. I'm sorry I switched over and I'm just trying to figure out how I can get out of this because it's ridiculous. Sunrun is increasing monthly bills, and now, I got an $80 bill from the electric company for this month, I had to pay and then I have to pay Sunrun. I'm not happy with it at all. When I got on, I got them customers and the same thing. It's just a rip-off. They lied, and they told me my bill would be the same thing for the rest of my life, but it's not. I would not recommend SunRun. It's also not easy to get in touch with them.

A year ago in August, I looked at the electric rates, and they go up every year. One of the things that they did starting that July was charge for the meter a rental fee and they get away with it in Massachusetts. That was a percentage of whatever your bill is, or could be an additional. Sunrun said that after we negotiated a monthly fee, they would only go up 3%, and the electric company would go up every year more than the 3%. They said they would have to upgrade my electrical panel, because it had taken in some water and there was some rusty stuff going on, and that's worth a few thousand dollars in my pocket, but they paid for that as well as part of the negotiations. All of that stuff went well, and I figured I saved right upfront, even though I had to sign a 25-year contract, but I figured I'm way ahead of the game.
If I had to sell the house, I would have to upgrade that electrical panel anyway, with a home inspection. And the roof was 33 years old, so I knew I had to replace that. You got to strip everything right down to the wood. Instead of getting a loan and doing all those other repairs, it was part of the deal with Sunrun. That is of one of my reasons to switch.
The first process is the electric company has to approve it before they can move forward. There are only so many on the same line that they could approve. It would take a while because there's a lot of stuff going on. Once that was approved, the permitting and everything went right along. The installation went well. There was a lot of people here. The roofing project had to happen first, cut the trees first, and the installation of the panels went well.
All the people who worked here were super nice. However, the electrician had an attitude at the end. He switched everything over and said, “Okay, I'm on here.” He had a long day. I understand, he was alone, which is fine, but I didn't have power on a certain area at my house. I have a transfer switch downstairs for a portable generator, and he said, "No, I'm out of here. All my stuff is working.” I called my electrician that night. He came in the morning, and there was one wire that he didn't connect. My electrician traced it, and didn't take long. It might have been $150, but I got reimbursed by Sunrun. That took a while, going back and forth with the office. The office is out of California. It took some chasing, but they eventually came through.
The only delay I had was when that was all said and done, they didn't switch over, after all the inspections. You got electrical inspections that have to happen, and permitting. I said, “When am I actually going on?” Sunrun called me and said, “Everything's up and running. How come it's not running?” I said, “I don't know. Talk to you guys.” It was just a matter of going out and flipping the switch. They said, “Can you go out there and look at the switch to shut it off? Tell me if it's on or off.” I went out there and said, “It's off.” He said, “Can you turn it on for us, please?” That was the only delay, which was a month. It started in August, and we finished in November.
The rep spent a bit of time explaining how the whole system works. He looked at my electric bill. I noticed the electric bill within the last few years have been going crazy, but it's not so much electricity we have been getting, it's all the fees that they keep adding on. But it worked out. And when he said that the rates were going up a certain percentage, and they did, prior to me signing off, they knew this stuff. They worked hard. They knew what they were talking about. It helped that my neighbor has been on that system for a few years, and he has added more solar panels on the back a year ago. But so far, it's working. I would recommend it.
Not everybody qualifies for the simple reason. My neighbor was thinking of doing it, but he has some trees that are in the way. They can measure the sunlight and see if it's worth investing. The trees are big pine trees, and they're not on his property. My other neighbors up there said, “Maybe we'll get solar.” I said, “It may be worth it. It may not be worth it.” It would benefit somebody who uses the average electricity versus an elderly person who is always conserving. So, it depends on the situation. At least investigate it and see if it's right for you.

I was interested in solar for a while, then ultimately, Sunrun was referred by a relative. Enrolling with them was great and so far, we produce enough that the usual electricity bill is non-existent and we just pay to lease the panels. There's an app to help you track how much you produce and it's a good app. I highly recommend Sunrun because they have good incentives, good people, and it seems like it's a good way to stabilize your electricity costs.

Sunrun was very detailed about explaining everything. They went over what was going to happen for 20 years. The whole experience was very easy. Sunrun's rep, Craig, came to our front door and prior to his visit, we never even considered going solar. But he was wonderful and we ended up switching to solar energy through them. Overall, our experience with Sunrun was great. It was so efficient and I couldn't believe how quickly they got everything done. They were very professional and Craig even follows up with me every once in a while. It was a great deal considering how high our electric bills were and paying a monthly fee to rent the panels was far less than what our bills were. However, over the winter, that didn't pan out too well because it was too cloudy. It was a rough winter and we had a couple of pretty high bills, but it's to be expected. Other than that, I have no complaints and I would recommend Sunrun to others.

We had Sunnova, and now, we have Sunrun at our new property. The previous owner just had to call Sunrun to get things turned over to us. We're happy about going solar. We track the system through the app. I've seen apps that are more user-friendly, but it's not the worst one I've used as far as online viewing. Our only issue was that the solar network was not communicating so they had no idea for six months how much we were retaining and what the solar panels were collecting. It took about six months to get that part straightened out and getting the company that installed it out to service it. They're subcontracted by Sunrun. It was before the end of the tax year, and I think some of the tax credits were coming to an end, so people wanted to get theirs installed by then. Since ours was already installed, we kept getting kicked back to a later date so that more people could get the tax credit. That was the majority of the delay.

A friend of my son's came to the door and I've known him for years. His name was Curtis and he works for Sunrun. He was very convincing that we listened to him and we decided to go with Sunrun because of the things that he said to us. He set us up with a person who did the presentation and it was very thorough. We were able to negotiate a price that we would pay monthly. They took their time to explain everything because the leasing of the panels was confusing. It was pretty easy after that. Then, the installers were here for a day to install everything. The way the house is situated, the sun comes up on the back of the house, and it sets in the front of the house. So, we are perfectly situated. We like our solar system so much that when a friend of ours, someone that my husband works with, talked to us about solar energy, we convinced them to get Sunrun as well.
The only problem we've had is the stinking pigeons because we're having a problem the last two years keeping them out from nesting under the panels. So, we have to really watch it. And unfortunately, we have to destroy what they build before they get around to laying their eggs. Sunrun suggested something you could buy but I'm not going to put any money into it if I can just watch it myself. Other than that, it was kind of a godsend that Curtis came here because the electrical bill was a pain. It was up to $300 a month. Now, it's down to 188, so it's very affordable, especially with rising costs these days. So, going solar worked out to our benefit in a lot of ways.

I would always see Sunrun passing by my house. I was looking into panels, but I wasn't considering them at that time. Then one day, they stopped by my house and offered a better deal than the other solar system that I was looking on. So I picked Sunrun. Lucas was the one I talked to and he was a very good salesman. They should keep him on. Overall, Sunrun was great and they did everything they were saying in no time at all. Everything was done in two months. The only thing that took long was the town permit. I was a little nervous at one point if this was really going to work, but it did.
The deal that Sunrun gave me involved no money upfront. Instead, you pay them monthly. And you don't have to pay Eversource. That's been reflected on my Eversource bill from the time I got Sunrun and it's always a zero bill. Mostly, I go on the Sunrun website to maneuver how my panel is generating the additional credit. I'm also considering getting a battery with the panel that I got since they're offering that now, but I'm not ready to call them yet. Other than that, Sunrun should continue doing what they're doing. I recommended a couple of customers to them and they gave me a bonus for referrals.

Switching to Sunrun, for the most part, was positive. There was just one thing I didn't like, and that was the contract because they told me I needed 11 panels. I was quoted a price of 93, but that ended up only being nine panels. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. They’re good. The install was good, too. I just didn't like what felt like miscommunication.
Since the installation of the panels, I am paying less, which was my primary objective. I'm still, at times, paying Edison, which I was trying to avoid altogether, but I need more panels in order to do that. I got six months free because I signed up for automatic payment. The system stopped working a couple of days, and they gave me $150 gift card. So, they’re doing good. Everybody, from the first person I made contact with to every one else that I made contact with, has all been very helpful, positive and professional. I would recommend Sunrun, but that whole pricing thing really bugged me. I looked up and realized I was only getting nine panels, and it isn't enough panels.

We did Sunrun in two locations. One we put in our house, and the other one that we did was for my dad in Arizona. He had 25 panels. Here at our house, we have 60 panels, and I love them. They've been the best so far. The only thing is, once they put your panels on, unless you have a problem, they really don't call you. They just collect the money. They don't come back and say, “How's everything going? How are things running?”
They have really bad customer service and follow-through. I've had Sunrun for 10 years now, and out of that 10 years, I've only had two phone calls. I originally went with 42 panels. I told them at the time that wasn't enough panels. They said, “This will be fine. You shouldn't have any problems.” I still started paying the electric bill still, and I didn't want an electric bill, so I said, “You need to put 60 panels on my roof. That's what will take care of it.” Now I have 60 panels. They did that two years ago, and after they got them on, and everything was good, then I've never heard from them again. They're a good company to install and put it on, but not a company to follow through.
But I have no bill other than to them, and it solved my issue. They were very responsive. They were very quick when they put the panels in. I have almost no attic space, so I have nothing but beams in my house. When they drilled, they had somebody inside with a microphone. When they drilled it, they started to come through part of my roof. They would tell them, and then they'd back up and then move over an inch, and then they would get the beam. They were really good and quick.
The only thing that wasn't good was the connection to fire it up between Sunrun and Edison. Edison was the worst. It took me a whole month before they could throw the switch. Then we needed to make an appointment when, and we had to have this final approval of this. Then everything was approved. I don't know what the holdup was, but when they finally did, Edison came out. Sunrun was here, they flipped the switch, and everything was good from that point on.
I recommended Sunrun to a couple of houses. And when I did, they gave me a referral fee thing. I got $250 from one family that went with Sunrun. I got $250 from another family that went with Sunrun. I got a referral pay, which I wasn't expecting, but that was in their program at that time.

When I first moved in, my electric bill kept getting up to around 180, even though I was at work and wasn’t home. And it was just me. I even called HELCO about it. Someone told me about solar, but I didn’t qualify at the time, so I waited. Finally, a lady from Kona told me I qualified, and that was the happiest day of my life. After that, my electric bill went down to around 50. When I first got my new bill, I was in shock because I had never seen a bill that low. It was $29. Now I have a battery, and I use my dryer and mini dishwasher, which I didn’t use before, and the bill stays the same. They put new panels in too, and they work better.
I wish I knew more of my neighbors because I see that many of them have solar, and I would’ve told my whole neighborhood to get it. If you can do solar, that’s the best way to go. Everything in Hawaii is getting expensive, so I'm very happy with my solar. I love Sunrun. The installers were good, professional and down to earth. They were awesome. The customer service reps were professional, courteous and always on top of things. If there's anything new coming up, they always text or send an email, and let me know what's in and if I would be interested. I highly recommend Sunrun. It's worth it. Getting solar was the best investment I’ve made. I just got a bill from HELCO, but it says not to pay because I have a credit from Sunrun. So I don’t have to pay for two months. If I could, I would tell everybody to get a battery. I live in Hawaii, so the sun is perfect for it. You'd have more money in your pocket if you could use the sun.

The first time Sunrun first came out a year ago, before I got them to put the system on my house, they came by and said, "You're approved for this solar panel." Two months later, they started the panels and said, "We can't do this." "What do you mean?” I took time off of work. "We can't do this." I asked, "Why?" "You got three layers of shingles on your roof." I said, "They came and inspected the roof different times. They said, there's room to get it done." I took time off my work twice, and they said, "We got it." The vans came with the materials. I was pissed off. I said, “I took off work for you guys to do it.” "We can't do it. It's got three layers." It was a headache. They finally suckered me into doing it. Other than that, it came out well. The cost is good because they have given us a free panel.
Sunrun's presentation sounded good. But I realized I signed myself into a 25-year contract and still paying double billing because I'm still paying for the Sunrun monthly bill plus my PSE&G. I don't see any savings in there. I get a little saving, but that it is for people that you save a lot more money to have one bill, but I'm still paying my PSE&G bill for the winter months. It came back almost 350 bucks because of winter months, for the snow has been covering the solar panels. So, I had to pay the actual money for that, plus the solar panel with a flat rate every month. I don't see me saving by getting the solar panel.
They said they're not talking to pay X for the winter month. They should give incentives on the winter months when the solar panel is covered with all the snow we had this year. But they don't do that. They send me a monthly bill. I should get a decrease in the bill for the monthly not using this solar panel. Other than that, it's done already. So, what can I do? I bragged to my neighbor, and he got the whole big package, the backup, the roof done, everything. He would never get it if I didn't tell him how good it was. I said, "They take care of you."

I’m having an issue right now and I already called customer service, but they said they couldn't help me with what was going on. I have two solar systems. I have a newer one that just got installed in 2023, and I had an older one that got installed in 2016. Apparently, the new system has not been working for the last 13 months. And I got a bill for $4,600 from Edison, the electric company, charging for 12 months of service. The customer service rep said there was nothing they could do and that I probably used more energy. I told them I didn’t, because before, I was only paying around 300, and with my first system, I was paying maybe 400 a year since it covered about 85%. With the second system, it covers about 95% of my electricity, and I am giving energy back.
I called Sunrun three times a day and told them my secondary system wasn’t working. There may be an issue since it’s not showing up on my app. In the past years, I was negative on my electricity with Edison and now, I’m gonna pay Edison $30 a month for electricity. So, that showed that something's not functioning right. Sunrun sent a tech who said everything was fine and that I would see it working on the app in five to seven days. That time passed and nothing changed. I thought maybe it was something with the app and didn’t want to keep bothering them since they kept saying everything was fine. Finally, this year in March, they sent someone out who found the issue. It was the breaker, and he replaced it. After that, within a day, I started seeing everything working properly on the app.
For the older system, I pay based on the energy it generates, which usually comes out to around 95% depending on usage, and a second system where I pay a flat fee of 85 a month. I asked how long the system has not been producing electricity and it turned out it’s been since February 2025. So, I’ve been paying for both systems, and it’s been about 13 months paying for a service I haven’t been provided. On top of that, I was charged by Edison. They want me to pay it all at once, and I can’t afford that. I tried to see if I could set up monthly payments over time.
I need to be compensated for the amount of money that I paid Sunrun for the service that I didn’t get, which is $85 times 12 months. Sunrun could at least give that back to me or help me pay towards what I owe Edison, but they said they can’t do that. And the only thing they offered was 200 bucks. I’m sure Sunrun has records showing that I called numerous times while the system was down. I’ve been with Sunrun since 2016 and haven’t had any issues until now. Before, if something was wrong with the system, they would call me and let me know something was going on and send someone out to check it. This time, I didn’t get that. I've never had to call Sunrun and say there's something wrong in my system. They would send someone to fix it, which is the kind of service I expect.

However, we're supposed to cover our usages, but based on the app, we only get 50% so I don't know what the discrepancy is. We haven't got a good explanation on that because we still got electricity bills and we still pay Sunrun. The idea was we would have enough solar panels that we wouldn't have to pay electricity every month. Also, we have the app, but I don't know how accurate it is. It's like a mystery. We did three houses in the family at the same time because we thought it was such a great thing, but all three houses have issues. Be careful.

Sunrun's salesman Barry is who I worked with. He was superb and a joy to work with. One thing I wanted was Elon Musk's battery in the garage, but Sunrun didn't put it in. One of the reasons I wanted it was to get a new roof. They would put a new roof on, but I have a roof that had another 20 years left on it. Our electric bills here in Connecticut are exorbitant. Mine ran 600 a month on and off. Sunrun came up in October. I didn't get enough put back into the grid in time, so I got caught. We recently had one of the worst winters in 20 years. I paid Sunrun 320, my normal payment, and the difference for Eversource was 700. So, for three months, I paid $1,000. It will now make a difference. 300 a month is still 300 a month. But I would have liked it less than that. I recommended Sunrun to someone.

I knew about Sunrun through Costco, and after the rep called me, we did everything over the phone. Then, they came and checked things out and did the installation. It was great. It was only nine panels and they got it done in a day. User-wise, I need more knowledge on the app. I sometimes don't understand it, but that's okay. In the long run, the solar system is going to save us money. We had a power outage in our neighborhood, and we have the Tesla Powerwall with our installation. We were the only house in the neighborhood with power, so that was amazing. We didn't even know the power went out. We've had a great experience, especially with our rep, Scott. We love him.

The idea of having solar panels in 2021 was very interesting. When I saw that Sunrun was advertised somewhere, I made the phone call. They came over. They were very clear about how much it was going to cost monthly, but at some point, I'm going to own the solar panels. I don't know what the electricity rates are now, but I have a feeling they're higher, and I'm still paying the same payment I paid in 2021. So, I'm very happy.
The process of getting the solar panels was very easy. There was a power failure, and I have the battery down there, and I didn't have a power failure in this neighborhood I live. I was walking around the neighborhood looking at all the people who had their power out, and I was very happy that mine wasn't. I already recommended Sunrun to two people. I got $1,000 for each referral, which I was very happy with.

She wanted to talk to me about how she wanted to set up an appointment to talk to me about how they could help me get my bills down for electricity. We met at my house, and she walked me through. I can log into my Sunrun account on the computer and look up what the system produces. It guides me to what I'm looking for.

A company knocked on our door and we invited the reps in, got a quote and I decided I needed a second quote. So I went online and looked up the recommended companies and Sunrun came up. I invited them for an appointment, and ended up going with them. The installation went smoothly and our biggest hurdle was with our electric company. We were told they would be dragging their feet and they did.
I recommended Sunrun to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and they just had it installed. They started using it in January but I still have not gotten my incentive for recommending them, and I'm not going to recommend them again. Nobody has contacted me. I reached out to my sales rep and he said that because it's Southern California, he couldn’t do anything, nor did he offer to tell me who to contact. My sister-in-law was going to reach out to the person she worked with there, but because of that experience, recommending them has left a bad taste.

I really like working with Sunrun. It's good service. I get to keep extra money. We're retired, so that helps a lot. The only thing was that at the beginning, our bills were lowered, and then later on, it got bigger, but then it goes back to being lowered. So it's okay now.

If you want to save some money, then get Sunrun. I looked up the best solar company online, and Sunrun was it. I called them, they sent a guy out, and I talked to him. He gave me all the information, and I signed up. It was in late winter, and they got all my panels up in March. I have Sunrun, and Nexium for my other provider, which all go through Commonwealth Edison. But my average electric bill year round is $65. We were in Lowe's and there was a fellow there who had brochures about Sunrun. He gave us a quick summary then he had a representative, John, come over to our house the next day. John had terrific customer service and he answered all of our questions. We had a lot of questions, and we are pretty stingy with our heat and electricity. We never really had gigantic bills, even in the summer, and we keep our thermostat at 82 degrees in the summer. But we thought, with Nevada Energy prices going up, it would be a good idea to have Sunrun.
Originally, I didn't like the idea of the way the solar panels look, but they were able to put it on the west side of our house. We're on a corner, so you don't really see them from the street. John did all the follow-ups, then step by step, a representative from Sunrun called and arranged for an installation date, and everything was on time. The installers did a great job and they even put the extra netting around the edges to prevent pigeons from going underneath. We got the panels at the end of January and for the first month or two, we had a regular bill. Then, from March, April, May, June, July, August, and September, our Nevada Energy bill was only about $19 because they just have the basic flat rate. Then we're leasing Sunrun, so the cost for us was $107 a month. Since it's one year now, it just went up a few dollars. It goes up 2% each year and now it's $112 a month.
Everything was coordinated well even when there were a couple of representatives and they contacted Nevada Energy because something had to be done first with the connection. So all the appointments and the arrangements were coordinated with Nevada Energy. It's just sort of carefree and we don't even have to worry about it. In fact, I was trying to think of who I could recommend it to, but so many of the people in our area rent. One neighbor who has our model house noticed the panels a couple of weeks ago, and she was thinking about it, so I gave the contact number of Nora, our Sunrun rep. If we recommend someone who eventually qualifies for it and gets it, that person and ourselves would get $500 for referral.
Other than that, John sends occasional texts and mentioning that if we have any questions, to let him know. He's always available to either come over or call. We haven't had any questions or problems, but we know that he's always available for us. So we're happy with it, and we figured, even though our house is almost 25 years old and we're getting older too, so we didn't want to buy the panels, renting it seems like a good idea. We also receive the monthly email which tells about what our bill is and it has information about how it works and so forth, so it's a constant communication each month with the bill.

Sunrun is a good company. I'm totally satisfied with, so far, what they did. I didn't have any problem with my solar installation. It was fine. First, they came, and they said I have to change the roof. The roof was old. I didn't have any complaints because they brought the crew. They did the whole roof in one day. After that, they came, and they put the panels. One thing I didn’t like was that I had some solar credit, and with that solar credit, they told me I’m gonna get some money back. In my understanding, I was gonna get that money in one big sum. But they separated it into different years. That was my only complaint. Otherwise, whatever the price and the product I get, I'm satisfied.

Since going solar, there has been a difference in our electricity bill, so Sunrun helps on your PG&E. I would recommend them. Sunrun's reps also came a couple of months ago and put new panels in. They had a different pricing for that and they took the money out at different times, instead of all at once. One day, they'd take it out on the 10th. The next time, they'd take it out at the end of the month instead of combining them all at once. That worked out because we'd have enough budget for each month.

Nevada Power was too expensive. I thought there's a lot of sunshine here in the desert so why not use it. I signed up with Sunrun and I've had it for about 10 years now. When I had already signed my paperwork and they had an appointment to come and install everything, Warren Buffett bought Nevada Power and kicked Sunrun out of Nevada. But I was grandfathered in, so they could go ahead and still install it. The installation was very quick. At one point, they notified me that I wasn't producing like I was supposed to. They came and checked it out, and they figured out what was wrong with it. They replaced it at no charge.
I pay the same amount every month to Sunrun, and my electric bill, when I first got it, was $13 for Nevada Power. But now, it's $22. Nevada Power keeps getting pissed off because everybody's going solar, so they need to make more money. We don't have our own place to store any extra that we produce so Nevada Power charges us for the use of the grid.
A friend of mine ended up with Sunrun about a year ago, and it's a little different than when I started. I'm glad I started with Sunrun when I did. However, I wasn't too happy with their customer service when my friend signed up. I referred her, and I was supposed to get $1,000 because she had it installed. In fact, we invited him back for barbecues and told him we were sorry we didn't have any more daughters for him. He just laughed. But his parents even sent me a call and thanked me for taking him in for the summer. Also, the neighbor down the street also got solar put in and the bonus I would get, I gave it to him because he's working his way through school. So it helped him.
When the solar panels were installed, things went very well and they were a really nice crew. I would highly recommend those guys. So far, we're very happy with our solar system. Right now, I've been trying to find out how much it would cost to get a battery installed. My house is 2,300 square feet and I was curious if it would take just one battery or two batteries? We talked to some people at Home Depot and they kept calling the house. But I haven't got an answer to my question yet. Other than that, I got a good deal from Sunrun. I've also gone on the app and checked the output. It's a very good app. I would recommend Sunrun to family and friends.

I have a home in Arizona, and it's always sunny there. I live in California and thought of putting solar panels here as well. I got Sunrun through from Costco, and I get a rebate back from them. So far, I've been very satisfied. I even referred friends to go through Costco if they want. Sometimes when you talk to them, they want to sell you. But when they send someone to talk to you, then that's a different story. They really tell you the layout and how many panels you should be having, and you can tell them where you want it more. They listen to the customer.
I was really surprised at how they were doing the installation. They used drones flying over my roof so they could do the measurement. I have never seen that before, and that was very impressive. They did a great job. I even climbed up the roof after the installation, looked at it and it was great. I'm going back up the roof this month and I want to wash down the panels. I have a flat roof and there could be birds flying by, and panels could be covered with poo. During the late winter and in the fall and summer, Sunrun is helping me a lot cut my cost. They are also always notifying me of what’s going on and how the solar panels are doing.

My experience with Sunrun hasn't been too bad at all. The beginning was an issue. It was very difficult. I didn't like that they mentioned the panels, but they never mentioned about the battery. They installed the system but I found out that there was no battery at all. In the afternoon, after the sun is gone, the grid will pick my system and that's when I get charged. That doesn't make sense. I have an issue now that I'm paying two bills.
But now, the relationship is better. Everything is working. There's a little bit of reduction in the electric bill, about $100 or sometimes $80 a month. I used to pay $220. Now, I'm paying $104 for the panels, and sometimes I pay $30 to $50 for the electric bill. But there are only two persons living in the house, so we don't consume too much energy. Also, if I were to have a battery, it will be a different history. I suggest others to go over everything before signing and make sure they get the battery.

But I've been pretty happy so far. The process with Sunrun was simple and painless. I also have the storage battery. The biggest benefit I've seen from the storage battery is that I have an electric car. They were in constant contact with me about the process. So I didn't have any surprises. I was home, available, and everything worked out to my convenience. That was important to me because I needed to make sure that I had someone here, and at that time, I didn't have anyone that I could guarantee would be able to be here. So, it did work out for me. I was able to schedule my work around what they needed to do. They installed about eight panels for the size of my home.

I heard about Sunrun by doing a web search, because I was interested in solar panels. I had looked at them at a previous residence and felt it was too costly for the likes that I planned to spend in that residence. So, when I moved to my last residence in Colorado, I thought it was worth looking into, because I thought the investment would pay off. Sunrun’s program made it pay off immediately. Since I don't own the equipment, it has lowered my utility bill substantially. I may not be getting as much free usage as the long-term programs that I had looked at. But it is the substantial reduction and the budgeting that I can do going forward that made it well worth it for me.
I like that they own the system and that everything with the system is warranted and covered by them. You don't get free energy, but you get a significantly reduced energy bill. What I don't use, what I collect and I don't use gets put back into the grid, so other people benefit from it. It seemed like the smart and right thing to do for me.

We were told by 2 different reps that if we didn't want it anymore that we could let them know and they would come remove it. Because of the energy prices going up in the state of Nevada, we looked into solar energy. Somebody in our neighborhood was using Sunrun, so we gave them a call. They ran over all the particulars with us and it just so happens that my son-in-law is a solar engineer. He looked over all the perspectives and said that it was the best deal going around. So, we used them. The information and the deal that we got were very good. Just the idea of leasing your solar equipment and having a 25-year warranty on them is fantastic. I know people that have bought their solar and the initial price was expensive. Then, if anything goes wrong, that's an additional price out of pocket. But I never have to worry about that. Sunrun also used top-grade solar panels and their equipment is upper-level. We've been with them for almost two years and they've been great.
The way that the contract with the Sunrun works makes it a lot cheaper going with solar than it was working with Nevada Energy. With the weather in Las Vegas where I live, I'm able to generate a lot of credit that I can use during the summertime. Sunrun keeps my bill way down to more than half. In fact, I'm saving 80% on what it was before I got Sunrun. Also, in the state of Nevada, we have very few blackouts, so there's no need for an expensive battery storage. So far, we haven't had any problems with Sunrun and we also haven't had them to come out. According to them, they monitor everything, so if they see any difference or anything in the amount of energy that we're not only consuming, but creating, then they take care of it on their end or they come out and take care of whatever adjustments they need to do.
We're very satisfied with our decision to go solar, and I've recommended Sunrun to a lot of my friends and to anyone who has ever talked about going to solar. It's a very good investment because of the cost of energy, especially coming from California then coming to Nevada. The difference is great. I like my air conditioner in the summertime and in Nevada, that's from early June to late September and my bill is still half of what I was paying without solar. So I'm extremely happy. Sunrun's customer Service has been great as well. The young lady who came out and gave us the proposal was very professional and had a lot of knowledge, though not as much as my son-in-law. The crew and the foreman who came out were very professional, too. They were courteous and the installation was done in a minimum amount of time.
Hi David, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad to hear that going solar has been a great fit for your home and that you've seen significant savings during the summer months. We truly appreciate your recommendation and your trust in Sunrun. Thank you for being part of the Sunrun community!

I had my solar system installed a little over two years ago. During the hottest months of 2025, my system experienced a significant production failure due to a mechanical issue. Unfortunately, I was never notified that there was a problem. I only discovered the issue after contacting Sunrun myself, at which point I was informed that my system had been producing only about half of the power it should have. Because this issue went undetected and unreported, I paid for both my Sunrun service and significantly higher utility bills during the peak summer months. From June through September 2025, I effectively paid double for electricity. This resulted in nearly $1,000 in additional out-of-pocket electricity costs caused directly by the system’s failure to perform as contracted.
At the time I reported the issue, I was told Sunrun would review my production data at the beginning of the year and provide a credit for the lost production. However, that review and credit never occurred. Instead, Sunrun has offered only a $75 credit, which is completely disproportionate to the financial impact I experienced. This situation raises serious concerns. My system failed to produce the expected energy, and Sunrun did not notify me of the malfunction despite monitoring the system. As a result, the burden of the failure fell entirely on me as the customer.
I am requesting that Sunrun conduct a full production review for the affected period (June–September 2025) and provide appropriate compensation that reflects the actual financial losses caused by the system’s underperformance. A $75 credit does not reasonably address the nearly $1,000 in additional electricity costs I incurred due to this mechanical failure. I expect Sunrun to stand behind its monitoring, performance, and customer service commitments and provide a fair resolution to this matter.

During the summertime, I get the sun energy. But instead of storing it for me to use during the wintertime, it goes back to the grid and it's not giving me any incentive. I know somebody that has another solar panel and it's saving a lot. I called my Sunrun representative to see if the solar energy that I receive can be saved, instead of going back to the grid. My bill is still high and even higher. So it defeated the purpose for me having a solar system. When I asked to have a battery, Sunrun said I was going to pay extra for it. So now, they would sell me another stuff to create another burden when I'm trying to reduce my bill. My electric bill right now is between close to 500 and over 500. It's just a small house with 1,200 square feet, and half of the house is for electric. Imagine if the electric is for the whole house. I have a gas bill that I have to pay, too. So I'm paying close to 750 to 800 and that's too much.
So it doesn't seem beneficial that I received the solar panel and it doesn't seem like it's saving me anything. I used to pay for two places and I pay 500 a month. Right now, for this little house, if I pay 500, I barely pay all my electric and gas bill a month. If something is not working, find a way to make it better. I'm willing to work on it and that's what I'm looking for with Sunrun. I want a better service. In the beginning, when I signed the contract, they said that going solar was going to cut my energy bill into half. And now, when I'm talking to them again, they denied saying that. They said what they told me was that it would cut our bill to 30%. So they're inconsistent. It's really more doubt and I was just taken advantage of.

I called Sunrun because I receive a text message instructing me to reboot my solar panels. This is something I have never had to do. The link that was sent did not work. I, then, called Sunrun to question the reason for the text message. I was informed that the solar panels are not communicating with Sunrun and that they are not producing any solar energy. Well, no wonder! I live in Massachusetts that recently had a blizzard. The solar panels are covered with snow not allowing the solar energy to be produced.
The agent I spoke to wanted me to make a service appointment. I asked if I was going to be charged for this appointment. He said that I may be charged for the appointment. I told him to make note on my account that I do not want to be charged and will not pay the bill if sent. I told him that Vivint would give an annual service appointment at no charge. I also informed him that since Sunrun took over Vivint, I have never had a service appointment from Sunrun. Why are you scheduling one now? Is it because my monthly solar bill is lower or non-existent? That is the ONLY reason that Sunrun is concerned about my solar panels. Isn't it?!
I am highly dissatisfied with customer service and I am considering having the solar panels removed from my home. These panels are NOT saving me any money on my electric bill. When the solar panels were installed by Vivint, these gave me credits against my National Grid bill. My total electric bill dropped considerably. Since Sunrun has taken over, the charge per kilowatt hour has increased dramatically, thereby, making me pay more for my electricity.
The only other time I was contacted by Sunrun was to ask me to install more solar panels to offer me a larger savings based on more solar energy production. I was informed that I would receive a second bill from Sunrun with any even higher kilowatt per hour charge. That's just what I want, a second bill from Sunrun to charge me more for the savings I am not receiving on my electric bill.
In all honesty, I do not know why I bother answering these surveys from Sunrun. No one ever contacts me after I submit the survey to offer me a plan for more savings. It's as if Sunrun does not care about their customers or the service they are supposed to offer. Sunrun is just interested in expanding their profit margin!

It's been the worst customer service event of my entire life so far: I was approached by the first salesman, I expressed interest in a solar project, but told him that by no means would I abide Tesla equipment on my property. The second salesman came, I signed documents, and again the possibility of Tesla equipment came up, and I told him, unequivocally there would be no Tesla equipment here. He said that he would add that to my profile. The initial project was planned, with a Tesla battery and inverter. I said, again, no Tesla equipment here; it was explained to me that I would have to wait for Franklin equipment, I was fine with that. At some point I was contacted by Sunrun as to whether or not I wanted to continue to wait, or have my account closed for the moment with no Franklin equipment yet available. I chose to remain an active account with Sunrun.
My house was inspected, shown to be ok for a solar installation. So at this point, 4 Sunrun employees have been inside my house. During this waiting period, I was approached by an Illinois based Solar firm, and I declined, saying that I was already working with Sunrun. Finally, a plan with Franklin Battery and Solaredge inverter was finalized. I ok'd that, and the installation date was set in November, I got the day off work. The Friday before, I was reminded that the install was the next Monday, and to have my Wifi password ready. This was the first time I had been asked about Wifi. I was told the installation could not continue without it, so I got a wifi account on the next day, which did not matter, because the crews were called off not knowing whether or not there was Wifi service at my house.
Even contacting Monday, was apparently too late, and I watched as Ameren's truck drove away. Mind you, 4 people from Sunrun had been in my house at this point and not once had I been asked about wifi. The installation day was scheduled again; the work crew arrived, but did not finish due to the lack of sunlight. I was told I would not have to be here for the rest of the work which only required roof access. It turns out, they did not, in fact, need my wifi password for that day.
It also turned out, that I did in fact need to be home for the next install day, as smoke detectors needed to be installed. This was scheduled for a Saturday in December. The day before, there was a blizzard warning, and I strongly recommended against, but Sunrun showed up that morning anyway, to see that yes in fact my house was covered in snow, and I would not have let anybody work on my roof even if they wanted to. The outdoors crew member said the workday was called off. After he left, I was called to be informed that the inside work was still in fact on. Three electricians were sent from Bloomington, to Decatur, in a blizzard.
The following Tuesday I was contacted by yet another Sunrun employee to say that the smoke detectors that had been installed, were installed in the wrong locations. So people were sent through a blizzard, to do this task, without being told how the task was supposed to be completed? And now there were holes in my ceilings? That Sunrun employee wanted to schedule a day to correct this issue, and I found a possible day that would work for my employer on the 23rd. He said that the 23rd did not work for Sunrun, I told my boss to not worry about changing our work schedule; 10 minutes later he said that the 23rd would in fact work. I was not going to go back and make the demand again of my boss because we were hard pressed to fill all our labor needs during that holiday week.
So I sent a group text to everyone that had been involved with the installation process at this point on what days I could and could not take off in January due to other people in my workplace having time scheduled off. I heard nothing back, from anyone in that text. Instead, I heard from yet another Sunrun employee that the inspection with the city had been scheduled within the time period I could not take off work. Who blindly schedules that without asking whether or not it's a day that works for the customer first? Espescially since I had already told Sunrun what days I was available. I told him, no, this day did not work, i gave him a list of the days I could possibly ask off. I asked about the locations of the smoke detectors, if the inspector was going to have a problem with them, since that was an issue before the 23rd December, but no answer to that question.
So, the city inspector came, as well as a friendly electrician; apparently the location of the detectors was fine, but not their type, and he had to change them all out. The house passed inspection & the solar system was shut down. On Feb 2 I was sent a document to sign. I did. Same day. I have been being pestered since that I need to re-sign the doc. Understand that by this point, I alternatingly feel ill or enraged when Sunrun asks for one more thing, from yet another employee I have not encountered to this point. I sent this guy a pdf and jpg images showing that I had signed on 2nd February. I rec'd an email from him at 2:44 a.m today reminding me to sign. I have told him no.
I contacted the "customer service expert" to cure this problem, so far to no avail, although I did finally convince her to have the document-signing guy to stop pestering me. She said she would contact my new salesperson since the one who had sold me the system had quit. I tell this guy what my availability is. "Customer service expert" contacts me like 2 weeks later, asking if there is anything she can do, I explain that I had been waiting for sales dude to phone, make an appointment- nothing. Just contacted her again today as I have been paying an increased internet bill so that the solar system has internet access, and I've been paying the same utility bill, and what in the hell are these solar panels on my roof for, would they want me as a regular paying customer? This whole thing makes me ill, that I have altered my house on behalf of these people and nothing other than a sick feeling in my gut to show for it.

We have had our system for 4 years now and it has been offline more than it has produced. It breaks. We wait for someone to come out and repair it. Months go by it's fixed. 1 month later it's broken again. Rinse and repeat. My roof leaks in 8 different spots and my panels over my porch broke loose in a thunderstorm six months ago, and they still haven't sent someone out to look at them, let alone fix them. A special shout-out to Gabriel ** who has had our account for months now and is part of a "solutions team" who has done nothing. Sunrun was going through the neighborhood, then we had the presentation with their rep which was fairly easy. When the installers came out, they did fine and didn't bother me at all. I got 17 panels from them and so far, I'm not saving much. During the worst part of the winter, I'm getting the Sunrun bill and I'm also getting a fairly high electric bill. But in the summer with the air conditioning running, I'd be saving a little bit.
Overall, going solar was not the smartest thing that we ever did and I'm saying that because we get that 3% increase every year. So, in five years, it's not going to pay me anything. And the electric bill, they’re fighting to try and reduce them. So, I don't know if it's going to be beneficial at all. Also, if anyone is considering going with Sunrun, I would tell them to be careful because the salesperson said if we referred people and they got it, then we would get $1,000 per person. My granddaughter got it, but he wouldn't answer our calls afterwards and we never got the money. I should have put in a complaint a long time ago. Aside from that, the little bit of contact that I had with them, they were not helpful at all.

I paid my utility over $1000 in electric bills because Sunrun did not monitor, notify me or address the problem for several months.. Sunrun refuses to let me speak to some who is supposedly handling my case. They told me I would be compensated after the end of 2025. I have not be compensated or contacted.

Sunrun is one of the best companies I've ever known. Two gentlemen came the year before I took up their offer. At the time, I had just lost my wife and money was the problem. So, I was scared and I decided not to do it. But one of the guys come back the next year and he told me they could put the equipment on my roof at no charge. So, I agreed. They had a little delay in getting started on my roof because of the company that they had do it. But once they started going, they did everything there. They were out of the small panels and they gave me the large panels.
I paid Sunrun $108 a month for the first three years and now I'm paying 111. I have no complaints about Sunrun whatsoever. They called and asked me while they were putting the solar panels on the roof if I had any complaints. At another time, they called and worked out the deal for me for monthly payments. Some gentleman back in Salt Lake City was the one that brought it up for me. I never met him but I talked to him once, and he sure helped me out. I was told they worked out a special deal for me because I'd lost my wife and they knew that I was having problems with the money. They worked it out to where I could handle it and I really respect them for helping me out like that.
Now, I love solar. I've had no payment due with PG&E for the last nine months. The 111 I'm paying Sunrun is nothing compared to what I was paying before which was in the $300 bracket. Other than that, the salesman forgot to mention to me that it would cost me an arm and a leg to get a battery. I have received letters by PG&E to get a free battery three times where they said to call this number and they'll call me back. But they never call back. They're not like Sunrun. Every once in a while, they'll call me and ask me if everything's going okay. And I tell them, "Yes, no problems." So far, I have gotten three people to sign up with Sunrun and if somebody brings it up, I talk to them about the company right off the bat.

The only real problem I had is when I went to take it off to put on a new roof and Sunrun wasn't very helpful. They tried to funnel me to their personal ones and they were very expensive. I didn't go with their person, but it still ended up costing a lot more. It probably took away my savings for 5 to 10 years. Other than that, I'm satisfied. I don't know what the new regulations in California are, but it's such a great idea.

Should have known better from the moment they knocked on our door, but we fell for it anyway. We thought this was going to be a good thing for us and could actually benefit from having it. We are now in a situation we shouldn't be in with the dodgy business Sunrun conducts. From our salesman Richard to the numerous phone calls that have been made with no record of any of it. We were told about a lot of promotions, and we thought about this a lot before going into it like we did. They were going to buy out our contract with our electric provider that we have had for 6 years, burned that bridge because it never got paid. Then we were told about a 6 month promotion for $1.00 a month, then our normal bill would come in, never happened either. Our salesman actually backed us and said yes, I did offer that in a text message. Surprise the miraculously can't see the message that has been e-mailed 3 times.
Then we start to move to the phone calls we have made trying to get this resolved starting end of December 2025. Lots of empty promises, Richard no longer answers his phone for us, "upper" management never returns phone calls, no record of the phone conversations and the list goes on. Stay away from Sunrun or any of their partnerships such as Vivint. Their solution to the $1300 they have taken from us is $20 credit for the inconvenience. This has been ongoing since August of 2025, think it's time to speak with lawyer about this matter. Too many phone calls, emails and a lot of money lost.
Do yourself a favor and do not even entertain the idea of using them. Still to this day our salesman has not reached back out from last year, no one has returned a phone call or email and we are just stuck. Can't even sell our house because of their equipment being on the home, as it adds absolutely no value. Or new interested buyers want it removed. No pleased by any of this and makes me not trust any companies much anymore.

Please carefully read and discuss the details of your agreement! Our rep assured us we would lower our monthly bill, and would only need to pay the utility company any gas usage. It took months after installation for the panels to even produce anything. Then when they finally produced we still owed a substantial amount to our utility company because the system doesn't work at night. I wonder what the benefit is then on sunny days when there is an overproduction, if it can't help offset night time or overcast. So by paying the monthly sum to Sunrun plus our utility company we are paying the same amount we were with just utility. Apparently the contract lasts 25 years and if we ever sell our home and the new buyer refuses to take over the panels we have to purchase the whole system. There is no way out, the whole thing feels scammy!

They installed quickly and at no cost to me and the HOA. The paperwork was handled through them, and so far, everything's been good. Sunrun has an app that shows the kilowatts generated, produced and sent to the grid and how much I've been using during the day. While my electric bill has stayed the same, I don't owe any money out-of-pocket to Sunrun. Meanwhile, SCE charges me an averages amount, anywhere from 25 to 45 bucks, depending on the discount. There are winter and summer charges, and how much rebate I get depends on what the rate is during those two charges.

Sunrun's presentation and promises were really good. We looked at other companies, but Sunrun was convenient. Installation took a few days. They had the workers come down with the panels, and then they had the other guy come and put the battery in. When we just had the system, a storm was approaching, and then our electricity went out. We called them to see what the problem was. They said our battery was offline since November. It was three months that we were being billed more than we supposed to, and it was three months that we weren't getting the service that we were promised. They said they'd fix the problem, and it was fixed. The promises were made when we bought it that they'd be on top of everything.
If I had to do it over again, I'd go with a different company. They said that our unit was offline. What they did was come down and use an outlet in our garage that's supposed to be a booster. They couldn't do it any better than that. As far as the price, they told us that we'd be paying the utility company $10 a month. And then there are some months that we pay the utility company the same as Sunrun. I don't know how I can be satisfied with something like that. The pricing is not what was told to us. We pay the utility $50, $60, or $70 after being told we're gonna pay them 10.

Initially, Patrick came by the house one day and it was pretty much of a cold call. Then we went ahead from there. I have a house down the Cape that I called him back for and he did a service there too. I haven't paid an electric bill in years. I have the solar, and I lease them. So, I pay $109 a month. I generate more power than I can use. So, somebody is getting the benefit of my sun panel on my roof. I’ve recommended Sunrun to many people, and they’ve gone with them.
Janet, thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad to hear Patrick provided such great support and that you also used him for a service in the Cape as well. It's wonderful to hear that you haven't had to pay an electric bill in years, and glad you're enjoying our services. Thank you so much for recommending us to others, we greatly appreciate it.

Our system stopped operating due to a mechanical issue. Our contract includes monitoring services by Sunrun, and according to their own staff, their system detected the issue in June 2025. A case file was opened but never assigned to anyone. Because the issue was not addressed, the system shut down completely in August. I only discovered the problem in December when I checked my Edison true-up bill (our cycle runs August–July). The bill was extremely high, more than I’ve ever paid in an entire year.
When I contacted Sunrun, a case manager found the original June notification. They scheduled repairs (which took about a month), and I was told to contact billing afterward to request compensation. It is now March 2, 2026. It took two technician visits to get the system running again, and I have been paying high Edison Tier 2 (or higher) rates for six months without solar production.
Sunrun’s compensation offer was a $75 credit and waiving the repair fee for their own system’s mechanical failure. When I questioned why monitoring did not prevent this, I was told that monitoring is only a convenience and that I should be checking the app daily myself. Because I did not notify them sooner, they claim they are not obligated to compensate me, citing contract language that production is not guaranteed.
To be fair, I did not pay Sunrun during the months the system wasn’t generating. However, I incurred significantly higher SCE electricity charges as a result. I accept responsibility for not noticing sooner, but having a monitoring service in my contract, only to be told it’s essentially my responsibility to monitor daily, feels misleading and demonstrates poor customer service.
Hi Shea, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that you were not alerted of your system being down and understand how frustrating it is to incur higher electric charges during that time. Our team would be happy to look into this for you to ensure everything is working properly and look into compensation. . The installation was great. Sunrun said they'd come in and do this and that, and they did everything that needed to be done. The representative was really nice. He came to my home and explained what it was. He said what it was gonna do and the cost. He also said what they'd had to come out and do, and took care of everything. It was done in a timely manner. It was all good. The only thing that was a surprise was because Illinois raised taxes, now we have to pay a minimal fee of tax on our solar panel. I called Sunrun about that because I didn't understand why there was an increase, and the rep was very nice to explain it. Other than that, we're very happy with it. It's very cost-efficient. My bill for energy is a lot less. If you wanna save money in the summer on your air conditioning bill, get Sunrun.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Eugenia! We're so glad to hear everything went smoothly and that your representative helped explain the process clearly for you. It's great to hear that you're seeing a difference in your utility bill. Thanks so much for sharing!

I had somebody come by the house, talking about solar. I investigated it, and got some references from other people. Then I selected Sunrun, the first company that contacted me, and I did not have any problems enrolling with them. Since I've been with them, I get my bill every month, then my utility bills are lower. They are a reputable company and I'm very satisfied with them.
Tamara, thank you so much for sharing this with us. We love hearing how the switch has brought you predictable, lower monthly bills. Thank you for choosing Sunrun as your trusted solar and battery provider.

She's the best and switching to solar was very easy with one exception. I have an HOA and Sunrun initially put the system up on the wrong place. However, they corrected it and it was fine. Currently, I'm enjoy huge savings. Depending on the month, it would be anywhere from $150 to $400. People have no idea what I was paying for my air conditioning. It was unreal. I love Sunrun and I wish everybody had it. I have recommended it to people too, but they haven't done it and it's ticking me off. "You're being a fool. Why don't you do it?"

Sunrun's rep made promises that he had difficulty fulfilling, but he finally fulfilled them. And during the process, he disappeared. I told him, “I've looked at three other companies and I'm in a quandary because I need to replace my roof.” He said, “What if I put a package together that would include replacing your roof and getting new panels? I said I'll entertain that. He came back and we sat down, looked at everything and signed an agreement. However, I had a difficult time hearing from him. I would leave messages. He wouldn't respond.
A few times, I said, “I have no idea what you're doing.” Every time I threatened to cancel the contract, he would show up. He finally said, “I'm having difficulty finding someone that's going to do the roof at a price that I thought I could get done.” I said, “I have three leads for you.” He ended up using one of the leads I gave him. I tried to be proactive. They came in. As soon as the roof got done, the rep disappeared.
I started dealing with customer service. They're in California, and very nice folks, and one rep said, “Your sales rep is no longer representing our company.” She provided some contacts because the folks who were going to install the panels were out of Worcester, Massachusetts, which is 45 minutes east of us. That took a long time for it to happen, but we started the process in April when I signed my contract. The panels got turned on two Octobers ago, on October 22nd. That's what my bill is due on October 22nd. It has been wonderful.
I've run into different folks at Lowe's. Sunrun hangs out there. I've had some bad experiences. National Grid is the electric company I use. There's a litigation going on between Sunrun and National Grid. I have lots of credit, and we live on the second ridge of a mountain, so there are a lot of blackouts. I figured it would be a great opportunity for me to charge the batteries. Sunrun never told me that they have a problem and they can't do any business with customers with National Grid, but they could do with Eversource, which is the other electric company in town close by. One day, I ran into a nice guy who represents this area. I expressed my frustration. He said, “I need to explain to you what's going on. These folks that you see in Lowe's are new hires. They don't know a lot. We're just kind of trying and training them while we're going through a process."
I was content with that answer, but out of nowhere, I got a phone call because I had expressed to him that I was interested in batteries. They told me that they've worked out an arrangement where the battery would be a separate installation that could not be attached to the current installation that I have. This young lady called up and we're having a very nice conversation, and she said, “Would you be interested in an appointment?” I said, “Absolutely, I'd be interested in an appointment” because I had received offers from the National Grid to provide batteries. I said, “Now I have two choices. I'll figure out which one works best for my finances and we'll go from there.”
I asked for an appointment. I had to provide my Social Security. A credit run was run to me. I was talking to her. I got this text from Sunrun saying, ”You've been approved for installation of your batteries.” I said, “I'm waiting for an appointment. I don't know how she did it or manipulated it. Now all of a sudden, they run a credit check on me and I've been approved for it.” I asked her, “Did you do this?” She said, “Yes. The only way we're gonna come out is that if you provide us with a credit card.” I said, “For what? I haven't bought anything yet. I'm already with an agreement contract with Sunrun and I didn't have to go through any of this stuff. She hung up on me.
The service is awesome. I am saving a ton of money on my electric bill, because I hear all my neighbors. We're the lowest usage in electricity, because I generate all the electricity that we use and providing credit, because typically, there's about $115 monthly charge for delivery of electricity. My credit absolves that. The local team just sucks. They're inexperienced, belligerent, angry, and very aggressive without any knowledge. I've been in sales for 45 years. I sold marketing. You don't have to be aggressive. You're trying to sell savings to the customer. That’s the easiest sale in the world.

We had been thinking about solar for a while, but hadn't decided on a particular carrier. A salesman from Sunrun walked into our yard and did the presentation right then and there, and I was very impressed with it. We got 16 panels and the installation went very smoothly. Everybody we dealt with was very professional and it was completed in three months from the time that the first salesman showed up till the time it was functioning. It was quick. I would like to pay a little bit less, but I understand how they got to their cost.
We've been very happy with our electric bill and the experience was positive. But there are a number of things you need to consider before you think about putting solar on your house, such as a fairly new roof, an updated electrical system, and the pitch of the roof. We have a very steep roof so when snow falls on the panels, it's only a day or two before the snow falls off on its own. I have neighbors a few houses away that also have Sunrun panels on them, and those panels still have the snow on them from last week. The pitch of the roof is not steep at all, so they're not getting any benefit from the sun. And that's not Sunrun's fault.
This winter is very cold, so right now, I'm using extra electricity in the cellar. I have to run a space heater underneath the kitchen pipes to keep the pipes from freezing. So that uses more electricity than a warmer winter. I'm still not paying the power company and I haven't for almost a year. But within a month or two, I may have to pay them because all my solar credits will be used up. But I'm expecting that.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Beth! We're thrilled to hear that you've had a good experience with us and that you're happy with your electric bill. It's great to hear that your system has been working well for you in the summer and winter. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun.

I was trying to save a buck and see if I could get ahead of the game and looked into getting solar. I heard about Sunrun through a friend and when I switched, it was okay initially. But I never saw that I was not earning credits. I earned credits two months out of the first 14 to 16 months that I had it. So, I came to the conclusion that the salesperson undersold me on purpose so they could come back and try to sell me more panels. The salesperson I was working with, James, was always good at getting back to me, but he was never good at explaining things. He always wanted to rush me through everything like the DocuSign. When I asked about extra panels and Tesla batteries, he said my payment would go from $115 to $145. I thought I was getting Tesla batteries along with it, which was the steal of the century.
Any time I had a question, he told me to listen to this recording and just say yes to everything. And I did. At one point, they said there's gonna be a 3.5% increase each year and I said yes to it. As soon as I got off the phone, I called him and asked about it. He told me not to worry about it and said it was something on their end. When they first started installing the panels, he said they couldn’t do six and would do eight. Then, I was shown the diagram and was told they would be in a straight line across the roofline because I was concerned about how they would look on the front of my house. When they put them in, they were not in a straight line like he said. At that point, I accepted it.
It took from October of 2024 until around August of 2025 for the panels and Tesla battery to pass inspection and get activated. Then I started getting messages to sign up for autopay. I already did that and so, I called Sunrun. They told me I had a contract for $115 and another for $145, which brought my total to about $260 a month. I have never spent more than $200 on an energy bill in my lifetime, and I’m 55 years old. Our house is very efficient, for the most part, and we've always kept our energy bill down.
I called James right away and asked what the messages were about. He told me I had signed up. I explained that he never made it clear that I would be paying for two separate contracts. He had told me my payment would go from $115 to $145, which sounded like it was just about $30 more than what I was already paying. If that had truly been the case, I would have agreed to it. If it had been clearly explained that I would be paying $115 plus an additional $145, I never would have signed up for that. He denied lying, but I told him directly that he had misrepresented the situation. We can pay it but it alerts me that they don’t have an honest person working for Sunrun. Later on, the people who referred us to Sunrun experienced the same thing. And if this continues with Sunrun, they are gonna have a serious problem on their hands. Never go to Sunrun.

A Sunrun representative came to my door, and for some reason, I let him in and listen to his spiel. I thought about it a long time because my son had solar, and he paid for his own under the first system where he gets paid for whatever he doesn't use. I couldn't afford $30,000 for nine panels so I didn't do it. But the Sunrun guy made it easy enough for me to look at a monthly payment and figure out that that was what I was going to do. I was impressed that he wasn't totally into selling me on it. He was very clear that I was not going to get solar for free. Those advertisements are not correct, and that's not what this program does. I will get billed a monthly bill, whereas all of the other companies, when you're calling in and you're seeing an ad on TV and they say it's free, they're not really telling you the truth.
The signup process was fine. The installation was very difficult because I have a 78 year old house with the original rafters. Sunrun's first design was to put the panels on the old house. I had had solar people come out and give me bids before, but that was to buy it myself. But one of the solar people who came out and gave me a bid said, “You should put it on your garage, because your garage is recent and the roof is new.” You can see all the rafters from the inside, so you know exactly where to put the panels and not take a chance on doing something wrong.
My garage is detached, so what they had to do was the panel was on my house and they ran a tube across the roof from the panel down the side of the house. They told me that it was required by the city of Upland to dig a tunnel underneath the ground and then go up onto my garage, which is where the panel is. The solar panel is on the side of the garage because the garage gets sun 18 hours a day. Now, my SoCal Edison bill is always negative 60. The first was negative 90. Last summer, the lowest negative was 42.

I like Sunrun as a company, and the service was great. They did an excellent job. I didn't have a problem with the price, but I've referred probably three other people, and they came back and said Sunrun was more expensive than a lot of other solar companies. Still, you get what you pay for. When they came out and did the presentation for us, the experience was pleasant. The initial presentation was the rep wanted to see where we wanted the panels, how much energy we wanted them to generate, and how much we want to offset our utility bill. So based on how much we wanted to offset our utility bill, he took that information down and did a workup on how many panels we needed to reach that goal. We had given them about three months of electric bills, and he used that as a basis for determining how many panels we would need.
After that, he came back with the actual number of panels and the cost. We went with it right then and there. We decided on 21 panels. The installers came in the morning. They had a crew of about eight people, and they did what they needed to do. I stayed out of their way. They’re the pros. Once they had everything installed, they had to be inspected by the city, so that was another week or so. We didn't really notice anything for about a month. It had to cycle or do whatever it does for about a month, and then we noticed that it had kicked in and the electric bill had dropped. We've noticed a major difference. We've had 100% savings. Overall, Sunrun, is a great company to go with.

WARNING, DO NOT PURCHASE SOLAR PANELS FROM SUNRUN. We purchased our second set of panels from SunRun in June 2025 (they purchased the company we originally dealt with). When speaking with our sales rep David ** he assured us that as soon as the final inspections were complete he would have his guys return to install both critter guards as well as snow guards on the new panels. He also agreed to supplement the cost of critter guards on the original set of panels since they have had to come out and make repairs to our system caused by squirrels chewing through wires.
Since that time I have received no follow up calls from the company. I have placed three calls to them in an attempt to follow up. Each call has resulted in the person taking my call taking all of my information then telling me I would be transferred to the appropriate department. When I spoke with that person I had to supply all of the same information again only to be told I would be on a "brief hold" so they could look up my information. These holds usually lasted for 5 to 15 minutes. When they returned they informed me they needed to speak with David about this issue and asked if I had received anything in writing. I advised them I did not but David assured me it was fine since everything was being done on a recorded line. I was again put on a "brief hold" lasting another 10 to 15 minutes. One lasting for 45 minutes and then being disconnected.
On my last call, my fourth call, I spoke with a customer service rep, Mindy and again supplied her with all of my information telling her about the promises made to us by David. She placed me on another "brief hold" about 10 minutes while she attempted to reach David. When she returned she informed me he did not answer even though his call box said he was available and informed me she would send an email to him as well as his supervisor Makenna ** detailing my complaints. I was Cc on the email. It has been days since this email was sent and I have received no follow up calls or emails, as expected. This company does NOT follow through with any customer complaints. As soon as your panels are installed you are a forgotten party. They may as well delete you from their contact lists. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM FROM SUNRUN. YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us, Kyle. We are truly sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication with your sales representative, and our team would like the chance to look into the Critter Guard and the snow guard to see how we can help. I wanted the whole house fan to suck the hot air out of the house in the summertime. I got it for free but they also told me I had to get solar. I did it with Sunrun and I like it. The process was very easy and they're been great so far. I have a battery too. They tell you to do your main appliances during the daytime when the sun is out. I live in California, so it's out 95% of the time. When you get the Nest thermostat, there are also these contests and they tell you to power down from a specific window of time, and you earn points. I do that a lot too.
Having a solar energy system with Sunrun, I like that I don't have to pay an electric bill. They say I produce more than I use. I'm hearing these people in the summertime paying $400 or $500 bills and I'm not. I don't worry about putting my air conditioner on in the summer. I also don't worry about putting my heater on in the winter. Sunrun's been great and I've already recommended them.
Hi Linda, thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad your system and battery are delivering the savings you expected and helping you avoid high seasonal bills! We got our second set of solar panels with Sunrun. They put 18 more on the roof and the installation process was very good. They showed me what needed to happen. They had to get all the city permits and it took a little bit while, but they were very professional. I have a battery backup too, so they had to put a new panel in so that they could put the eight circuits. When the power goes out, it's 30 seconds and my power is back on. It's pretty cool.
Sunrun bought out the company we got our first set from so our sets of panels are now both under Sunrun. They're all on the same bill which is about $300 or $400 a month. But people's bills out here are probably $600 or $700. Now I get a negative on my bill from Southern California every month. I like my solar panels and I recommend them to people if they ask me.
Hi Catherine, thank you for trusting us again with your second system! We're so glad the installation went smoothly and that you're seeing negative bills every month. I met a guy who had solar installed and I was concerned about energy costs. He told me about the broker he used and his positive experience, and I contacted the broker. When I decided to switch over to Sunrun, there was a glitch because the city was being difficult about approving the system. They said my power box needed to be grounded. I told them it was grounded, with a grounding rod and a large copper wire bolted onto it, but they said they couldn’t see it.
The inspector was scheduled three times. The first time, my son was home and I was on vacation, and it was last-minute scheduling. Sunrun was trying to get the system approved because it had already taken about a month and a half for paperwork to go through. The guy left and I found out about it, so I contacted him again. I used a borescope camera to drop into the wall and capture the copper connection going up to the box. I provided that to the city inspector, and he signed off on it.
Sunrun offered a battery but I declined. I’m just renting the system, and I paid it off in case I sell the house so someone can assume the agreement. I don’t trust battery technology yet. A neighbor had a near-meltdown in his garage with a battery a couple of years ago, and they’re still not sure why. I understand electronics and electricity but what they're doing right now is not the best way to do it with the batteries they have. It was a cheap, quick and dirty way to do it and they need to spend more money and time figuring out the kind of storage.
The installation crew was a subcontractor and the salesperson was separate, and Sunrun handles billing and paperwork. Sometimes I get batches of emails from SDG&E, a net metering or consumer group, and Sunrun, and it’s not always clear how to put all the information together. I’m paying a lot less for power now than when I was just going through SDG&E, and I haven’t reached the breakeven point yet. It would be helpful if I could be provided a comparison chart showing where I was, where I am now, and where I will be.
Hi David, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that there were some delays with getting the system approved, but are happy to hear that you're paying a lot less for power now. If there is anything we can help you with, please send us a private message. Thanks!

Signing up with Sunrun was awesome. Austin was great. He gave us a lot of information, and we were sold. They explained everything really well. Everything was also fast. I was impressed. Their app is also pretty informative. Since having the panels installed, my bills have been lower. Whereas with SDG&E just alone, we never knew what was coming. At least now I have an idea what I'm gonna be paying monthly, whereas with SDG&E, it was a surprise.
There was one issue, but they fixed it. The meter had been out for three months, and they didn't contact me directly. I wish that I had gotten a phone call. Maybe they sent an email, but I don't check my emails. I didn't know that it was happening. But they came and they did whatever they had to do. However, I did receive a check in the mail, close to $700. But it was to my address written out to Sunrun, so I couldn't do anything with it. I might have mailed it back, so I don't know what happened there. I don't know if that was SDG&E paying Sunrun. I just know that they took care of it. Even Sunrun couldn't figure it out, and SDG&E couldn't figure it out.

A salesman came to the door from Vivint, and he made a proposal for the solar panels. My wife and I talked about it, then the salesman came by about three days later and we told him we’d go ahead and do it. They arranged for the solar panels, the inspections, and all the paperwork. They sent a guy out and he inspected the roof, then he made his report and another guy came out. They measured all that they were gonna put on, and when he left, another guy came and they sent all of the paperwork for me. They did everything and to have it all installed with absolutely no money out of my pocket is amazing.
Making the switch was straightforward and I didn't lay out one time. It went from an interview and presentation to signing, and then, all of a sudden, people were out here doing the installation. The guys came in and they cleaned up. They were also very careful and pleasant to be around and I enjoyed talking to them while they were working.
The change was subtle and I never even knew the difference as far as the warmth of my house. It depends on what people set their thermostat at. I've had no reason to not enjoy solar. My power bills went down. I'm satisfied because I haven't had any problems and hopefully, that continues. A lot of my neighbors are now getting solar panels installed as well and while I don't know if it’s through Sunrun, nobody's complaining.

Sunrun had a young man who was going from house to house. They worked on my neighbor, then they walked to my house and asked me if I was interested. I looked into solar energy and the potential savings I was going to have, and when I enrolled with Sunrun, it was good. I didn't have any issues. They explained things to me. They came to my house and they were patient and very professional. I appreciated that.
With solar energy, I don't pay compared to where I used to but I was under the impression that I was going to pay a certain amount for the next few years. When I looked now, I realized that the price has gone up and I wasn't happy about that. Besides that, Sunrun is dependable and at the end of last year's cycle, ComEd sent me a check, which I would have never expected. It means that I'm using less than I'm producing, so for the benefits, I feel okay.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Nji. It's great to hear you're happy with your decision and seeing the benefits firsthand. We are thrilled to hear that you received a check from ComEd last year. Thanks for being part of our Sunrun family!

I had solar panels from Sunrun via Costco installed in 2021 with a back up battery which we purchased outright. The process was very easy, the installers were great. Within about 8 months we started getting issues with our panels not communicating properly to the app or the grid, so a tech came over and rectified the issue. There was no charge.
About a month ago (4 1/2 years after installation), we have the same or similar problem. I contact the company who are now demanding a fee of $561 just to come out to essentially diagnose the cause. Although they are now wording it as a “Service” to ensure that our panels are working to their optimum level on the Docusign document to sign before they will come out. Obviously the cost to rectify the issue will be also added, meaning this could get very expensive very quickly as I will be expected to believe the cost of the necessary repair be the market rate of what they demanding. Very disappointing.

We've been dealing with Sunrun for two years now and so far, their customer service has been excellent. One of the reasons why we were going with the panels on the roof was because of two things. We wanted to go to renewable energy, and also, the fact that our electric bill would be considerably reduced. Since going solar, our electric bill is definitely considerably less. Everything has been working wonderfully. So far, so good.

I had been looking at going solar for a long time. I went with Sunrun, and based on what I wanted and what I got, I wasn't very happy. I wasn't happy with what they gave me. I have the storage battery. I wanted the Tesla but they gave me SolarEdge. I also wanted 20 panels, but they only gave me 14. But during installation, my experience went relatively smoothly except for one glitch. They had to come back and work on my panel because my dryer kept tripping the breaker, and they had to get an electrician out here to rewire it.

A young lady was walking in the neighborhood, and she was talking to someone, and my neighbor said she was doing the solar panels. I called her and told her I was interested in hearing what it was about. The presentation was good. The reps talked about the panels and roughly what it would cost. At the time, I was looking into getting a new roof and we talked about that because the roof was in terrible shape. They couldn't put the panels on it. I've talked to different people and listened to the prices. But Sunrun could do my roof at a more reasonable price. The young lady checked into it and looked to see if I was qualified, and we went through the procedure.
The guys came and did the roof. After they stripped everything off, the inspectors had to come and inspect to make sure any bad or rotting wood was replaced. They inspected it, and after the roof was finished, the inspector came again. They also had to install another panel because of the solar panels, so someone was sent to install that. Everything required an inspection. The installers came, installed the panels, and it was okay. I have between 9 and 13 panels and I now have savings on my electric bill. I have credit with my electric company, with just a slight charge that’s not really for the electricity. The credit keeps adding up. When we have outages in California, it’s not a long period of time, and it’s divided into areas. So, I didn’t need a backup battery. Pricewise, the solar panels are reasonable. I recommend Sunrun to one of my girlfriends, and she got it.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Lurline. We're thrilled to hear that switching to solar has helped you save money and even accumulate credits! It's wonderful to know that your system is delivering such great results. Thank you for being part of our Sunrun family!

Our neighbor was getting the system on first, and they had just moved in, so I didn't introduce myself at all when they were first moving in. They were getting the system installed on the second day, and I went up there and finally introduced myself. I said, “Hey, what do you guys think of that?” I asked them, and the lady was very nice. She said, “Let me get you my son, because I don't speak that great English.” He was the one that encouraged getting them, and I said, “Okay. I'm gonna see what's more.” At Costco, I always see the Sunrun person and I just walk by them. However, having more people getting something interests everybody. “How come that person has it and how come that person has it? Why do we not have it?” That's how we got the system.
We were walking out of Costco, and the Sunrun guy gave us a pamphlet, so I looked into it a bit. I do work for an insurance company, so I know a lot about energy and I was interested. We called the number, then they came out and gave us more information about it, then my husband and I decided to do it. Enrolling with Sunrun was a great experience. The rep came and explained everything to us very thoroughly. He even said, “If you guys have any questions afterwards, give us a call.” Everything is functioning and we see the amount of energy produced in our bill. It comes in the statement.
We still have a payment that we do to ComEd, but sometimes, especially in the summer, we don't even get a bill from them because we accrued that much energy. Now that winter is finally passing through, we had to pay an amount, and my husband and I said, ‘Man, I can't wait for summer so we don’t have to pay for anything.” Sunrun has an app where I can go in and get the bill, and I can ask it to break things down for me, or I could just read it. There was a point where I thought, “I don't know what that means.” I texted the guy that installed the system, and he explained to me a bit about it. He said I could call the number too, but it was so much easier going through him.
Sunrun said, “Hey, if you refer somebody, you can get an incentive.” It was a referral thing and I said, “Oh, okay,” but we have no family around us. I really like Sunrun's products, but I am so not good at explaining things as well. Still, I can tell people, “If you are interested in wanting to know a bit more about it, contact this person.”
Alejandra, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear the team was able to walk you through the process and answer your questions along the way! Overall, Sunrun did a decent job. I was able to reach them, and they billed us properly. The system was operational most of the time. But beware because we had some issues and we don't know if we saved much. You need to do your research before you commit to that. I was at a Home Depot and someone from Sunrun approached me asking if we would be interested in putting solar panels on our house.
Initially, we had a lot of problems as far as getting the system installed. It was a very lengthy delay between when we first signed the contract and when they could do the installation. After the installation, there were several more months before the system was operational. A few months after the system became operational, it failed and we had to wait several more months for them to repair it. But much to their credit, they sent me some compensation checks and they stopped the billing. They at least tried to assist us with the fact we were not generating our own power.
However, Sunrun made it sound like we would get tax breaks when I was first approached, but we then found out that, because we were leasing, we were not eligible for any tax breaks because we had solar panels. I don't know if we saved any money because we paid a monthly lease. The system did save us money in the summertime. But in the winter, when there was very little sunlight, it made no difference. It's hard to say in retrospect whether it was a good financial decision.
Hi Barry, thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're glad you were able to reach out to our team and that billing was handled properly. We're sorry for the installation delays and system issues you've experienced, but are happy to hear you were compensated for the time your system was down. We understand that savings can vary based on different factors, and we'd be happy to review your system's performance in detail. Please feel free to send us a private message if you'd like us to do this for you. Thanks!

PG&E has been going up and up so I went solar. I've been enjoying Sunrun's service. My system works well. My electric bill stays well down. However, I do not understand why my payments to Sunrun have gone up three or four times since I've had my system installed. I have saved on my payments to PG&E, but those were taken up by the payments to Sunrun.

Freedom Forever approached me about having solar panels on my house and they installed the solar panels. I pay Sunrun $45 a month and they manage the transfer and sale of the electricity I have generated from the solar panels. Then, I get a monthly statement or a statement about how much electricity I have generated. I have eight panels on the house, and they took the two-year average. I’m a little disturbed that in those two years, I was gone in the summertime, and the air conditioner was set at 90. And that goes back to what happens when I get my PNM bill. This year, Sunrun is charging me $49.26 a month, and I interpret that as a monthly payment. It's a 25-year contract, and it goes up a little bit every month, every year. If you multiply that, I'm paying off those solar panels because when I was first approached about them, there was no cost for the installation.
In January, my PNM bill was $13, and the highest it got in June through September 2025, when I was home, was around $13.05. In comparison, January last year was $35, and January 2023 was $54. Before I got Sunrun in November 2023, my electric bill was $123 in August or September, and in July 2023 was $135. So compared to those months, I am seeing lower PNM bills. So, I’m saving. But after doing an annual analysis comparing what I pay Sunrun plus PNM versus what I used to pay, I might be about even overall. I’m not necessarily saving money, but I'm doing my part to give us an alternative to electricity.
I considered adding a solar panel to get my solar energy production to exceed my usage, so I wouldn't have to pay PNM anything, but Sunrun said I’d have to go through a completely new contract with the state for the design. And that’s not worth it. But I knew about the green, yellow, and red zones, and my neighborhood was yellow, so I jumped in. The selling factor for me was that I didn’t put any money out. A friend of mine put out $10,000 to have solar panels put on. So, not having to put any money out, it was a yes for me.
Doing the analysis of how much usage your house uses is important to be sure you’re giving accurate numbers. I did my June, July, and August for the two years they took averages on, and it was not a realistic usage. People need to make sure they’re giving true historical usage before determining how many panels they need. I sent this guy to a friend’s house, and she was blown away when they did her analysis. She hadn’t realized how much electricity she was using. She has 33 panels on her flat roof, and I have eight. She had her mother on oxygen and air conditioning, so they were probably overusing it because of that, and she got a better result.

Sunrun is a good company. I've had a good experience with their reps. They were really personable. They weren't pushy. They gave us all the information and let us make our own decision. The installation went fairly smoothly, too. They handled everything. They went and had all the permits drawn and everything went according to plan. We got eight panels. They don't cover our energy 100%, but we have a lot of trees that cover the front of the house. But it makes a good impact on our power bill, where it has decreased it significantly. I also have their app downloaded and it's very user-friendly and easy to understand.

Sunrun has a beautiful website, but it's vague. Still, we got the panels and switching to solar was easy. Sunrun offers a great deal. It feeds across. We get one for our voltage that we put across versus receive. That's all good. That's probably part of the local utilities more than anything else, but I thought we were gonna have a much better savings in general. The overall service went great. They had a heck of a time with the city. Some of the ordinances are a pain in the butt, but they took care of everything. Also, I'm not happy with anybody getting on my roof for any reason and I told them ahead of time that if the installers twist their foot on that roof, they're gonna ruin it. I was watching them closely during install and they did well. In general, everything went well.
The system is saving us a little money and I'm happy with it. Our electric bill averages around $35, plus the lease we pay to Sunrun. That's 105. That's less than what our electric bill was before. However, when their reps came to my door and talked to us, they told us things that weren't in the contract. The first one was if our bill was over $35 a month within the year, they would reimburse us. The second one that didn't come about, they said if we ever wanted them removed, it was no charge. They'd remove them and that was a lie. It's not like it was a surprise, but I emailed corporate to let them know that those people told us quite a few stories. But then I never heard anything from them, so I dropped it.
