I am THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED with the solar activation team and would never chose to use you guys if that were to happen again. As my case was left on hold, for a month. No one contacted me, no one communicated that to me in any way or form. It was not even submitted to PG and E! I have no idea who drop the ball, but I want to ask why was it on hold? And how long would it have remain on hold if I did not contact you guys? Thoroughly disappointed with the activation team.
The only reason I am giving my experience a 5 star is simply because Elizabeth followed through on my case, and made sure that it was submitted to PG & E, and also making sure that it was submitted. The 5 star is for her and her only. I would have given you guys a 0 if it weren't for her. I am not sure how you guys evaluate these things. But please do something so what happened to me would never happen to another customer. And I really Appreciated Elizabeth for following through and making sure that I am getting update and answers. Please consider my feedback and make do something regarding your team.
Hello Mark, We're very sorry you didn't have a positive experience with the activation process, but we're glad Elizabeth was able to get everything resolved. We hope you'll enjoy clean energy for many years to come.

We chose solar panels because we wanted to save money. We were told our electric bill would regularly be ~$20/month or less, with bills of $0 also a common occurrence. We were completely lied to. In the past ~3 years we’ve had our system, our electric bill has been $0 twice. In the summer and winter we regularly pay upwards of $150/month on TOP of our solar panel loan payment. So unless you can buy them outright - don’t buy from SunPower.
Hello Mrs Breeden, I'm sorry to hear your expectations have not been met. Upon further review, it appears you have been in contact with an executive service specialist. They have explained to you the system production throughout the year vs. your usage. Currently, your system is production above expectations. We would be happy to go over this process with you again, or answer any additional questions you have. We appreciate your business and truly value your feedback.

The system that was designed for our needs accommodated about 95% which will help reduce if not eliminate most of our electricity bill over the next 25 years or so. Looking forward to the savings and ability to be able to power most of our daily use through a more green resource (through solar).

Worse company ever. Scam dealers. Their dealers disappeared right after installation. Although I'm the owner of solar panels and making hefty monthly payment of $360 since August 2018. I wasn't a able to register for SREC as I discovered that someone with the name of Amy ** was listed as the owner of solar panels and I was listed under installation premises. I tried to track the dealers who installed but they were gone (disappeared). Then I tried reaching out to the SunPower, explained my situation multiple times and finally was assigned to a caseworker Vanessa ** in October 2018. Exchanged multiple emails but only one reply that they are still working in it. Finally stopped making payments to Mosaic on Feb 19, thinking that they will resolve the issue. But kept sending me monthly payments. DON'T EVER USE SUNPOWER. They SUCK.
Hello Mr Manpreet Kaur, I apologize for the experience you've had. Please, note that your system was sold and installed by TSP Solutions. They are an authorized dealer. We have had two major issues with SunPower, in addition to the panels never performing to the levels they guarantee. The first issue was their delays in getting our system to operate safely...meaning the incorrect install could have destroyed our house because of bad wiring by their approved contractors. My current issue is with the way the lease is written that states if you sell your lease then any performance guarantee money that would be due to you actually goes to the new owner. So I got the performance report emailed to me but they are going to send all the money to the new owners...who have only owned the system for 10 days of the full year.
I was told to "work it out" with the new owners which is completely unsatisfactory given the day and age we live in. It would be quite simple for SunPower to split the values according to old and new owners. First of all, the panels don't perform to the levels that were guaranteed and now the money due back to me is going to the new owners. I would not use SunPower again.

We went into have solar panels on our home to SAVE money. The complete opposite is the end result of our Solar experience. The first year our panels barely made the guarantee production numbers. The past 4 years our system has been under production, each year less than the previous. The overall analysis is that we are stuck paying at least 25% more for our energy because of the panels that are leased for SunPower. The same situation was aired on NBC news with a lady in Westchester County. I am pursuing assistance in proving my situation and many others as a MISREPRESENTATION of product. Each year this system is costing us more and more!!!! SunPower still gets paid and has this calculation that minimizes the amount of money they need to return to the customer.

Ok so my panels were installed two years ago and we still have an open permit. That’s because the service specialists (ha!) are in the Philippines. I am totally serious. As of now my second inverter on my system has been down for over a month. All I ever get is the runaround. After weeks of arguing with a rep in the Philippines he told me that they contact the division in California who then contact a sub contractor in New York that will do the repairs. I know this is how the company works because my inverter went down about four months ago and I had to jump through all these hoops before.
Oh and I never got reimbursed for the time my panels were not performing even though I was told that I would receive 180$ as reimbursement. I also never received my 200$ for my anniversary date that I was also told I would get in October of 2018! So after four weeks of this I had an actual date that the guys would be here to fix the panels. The morning of the day they were to be here the service guy called me and said the part never came in so he will not be coming. So I have left messages with both the service manager in California and the rep in the Philippines. Both of whom gave me their direct line because they were “gonna make this right”!!! What baloney. Now here I sit paying my full electric bill along with the lease payment hoping someone from SunPower will call me. Definitely not going to get any future recommendations from me.

After researching I set up consultations with SunPower, Sunrun and Vivint Solar. SunPower dealer The Solar Quote (N. California) rep. DeeAnn met with me. Sunrun rep was professional, Vivint experience was very negative especially after my decision and DeeAnn with The Solar Quote was the best. I decided to purchase my panels and was impressed by their 25 year warranty of the Panel & Power output. The other companies have a power output warranty of the same, but only warranty the panels for 10 years (Vivint) & 10 or 12 (Sunrun, LG 12).
On my own research I realized there were some negative reviews on SunPower related to when they were selling residences direct but didn't have a strong residential customer service arm. They always will back the panels, and the local dealer was impressive to me and had a good customer service record via Yelp. All that is great, but it came down to getting the best price (purchase) for the best panel in a home I will be staying in for quite a while. Thanks SunPower and The Sol.

If I could leave a minus for stars I would!! This is the WORST solar company EVER!!! We had Az Solar Concepts come out to our house in 2017. Doug told us all about their solar company and how we needed to act right away to get in on APS's buy back program before it went away. This was all true. We had Doug look at our old APS bills to see if we could save with solar. We didn't want to put the panels on the north side of our house just south side. He told us that we would still have a bill with APS but it would be quite a big savings!! Our contract states 81.1% solar energy!! We were up and running at the end of March 2018. Other than two months, from March 2018 to March 2019 we have NOT saved anything!!!! What little we have saved with APS went into our monthly lease payment of $193 plus more. We are spending MORE now with this solar then when we were just with APS!!!
We tried repeatedly to talk to someone at Az Solar Concepts and SunPower and have gotten NOWHERE!!! Az Solar says to talk to SunPower. SunPower says our system seems to be working fine. That can't explain to us why we are not saving anything. We spoke to APS and they said that we are getting only about 40% solar per month if not less!!! Why would Doug talk us into a solar unit that was underpowered? If we had know we were going to pay MORE each month we would have NEVER gone solar let along with this company. DON'T TRUST THEM!!!!! They will do and say anything to sell you a solar system. They have left us no choice so we are going all the way with this complaint. We have now hired an attorney to help us. BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!

Updated on 08/16/2019: So, I submitted a review of SunPower and its shoddy product along with poor workmanship along with providing insight to the fact that my Wife and I were screwed out of time and money since our solar panels were NOT producing the “GUARANTEED” power we were promised by the rep. Hence, for a year, we were still paying a full electric bill while at the same time, making payments on these scam solar panels that weren’t even working (16 solar panels were found to be defective!
After our first review a few months back, we were contacted/emailed by an individual named “Gabe Link” from SunPower. We were sure that perhaps maybe this gentleman would “make thing right” and compensate us for the time and money lost due to his companies’ defective solar panels. WOW!!!! Were we WRONG!!! Email after email to him (Gabe **) was ignored and he could care less to return our emails when we even offered him the opportunity to settle this situation with a very small amount of compensatory money compared to what we have lost.
So, my Wife and I figured since he wants to play games and slap us in the face with his blatant and rude manner of ignoring every email we’ve sent, we’ve now retained a “Consumer Protection Attorney” here in San Diego and made it a point to ensure he and his name are NOT left out of the limelight in this situation since he thinks it’s funny and proper to ignore a customers’ plea for help who has a legitimate and honest complaint.
We have EVERY email saved that we have sent to him which shows the obvious disregard for any type of decent and professional customer service that would normally have been provided. We are looking forward to ensuring SunPower is accountable for not only wasting our time but, costing us a substantial amount of financial and emotional stress due to their inability to provide decent products along with hiring and maintaining a professional and compassionate customer service workforce. Stay tuned for lawsuit update!
Original Review: So far, Sunpower panels have been one heck of a nightmare for my family and I. After purchasing solar panels close to two years ago, I continuously called the main number approx 3-4 months after they were installed to advise that I DON’T THINK MY SOLAR IS GENERATING POWER! I was constantly put on the back-burner until I called the main number a week ago and advised that I will be obtaining an Attorney to further investigate my claims. They then sent a crew out the following day who found that there were in FACT 16 solar panels that weren’t working due to faulty inverters. SO, they then sent a crew out to install the new inverters and the way they leave my solar panels....uneven and sloppy! Solar panels are already borderline eyesores on-top of a roof BUT, when they are uneven and not even aligned....geez, poor workmanship and looks ridiculous!
I’ve lost a lot of confidence in Sunpower and the people they employ. I managed to obtain an Attorney for the close to two years I was ignored and still paying full electric bills while struggling to also make the payments of these panels since Sunpower advised they won’t reimburse me for the full amount of time I was being ignored and screwed out of my money. I figured since they will try and fight me on this, I will bring all of my phone bills which show dates and times I called advising of my concerns along with my electric bills which show I was still paying around the same amount I was before having solar panels installed. Anyhow, I think these kind of stories such as mine need to make the headlines to forewarn others about my awful continued experience to help prevent others from going through what my family and I have been through.
Thank you!

Purchased a Sunpower Solar panel system for $38,000.00 in which the microinverters began to fail. Received an outrageous electrical bill from Southern California Edison due to the failure of our solar panel system. Spoke with a representative from Sunpower that was located in the Philippines. Ms. Jermaine ** is the case manager for my complaint and was told this would be resolved. However three months later nothing has been resolved and had to pay out of pocket to cover the electrical bill or my electricity would be turned off.
After speaking with Ms. ** on numerous occasions she advised me that Sunpower had no obligation to remedy the situation and with veil threats advised she would not work on my case anymore. When requested to speak with another representative she advised there was no other person to speak with. I am currently looking to contact Corporate Headquarters but just seem to get recordings and when I select customer service option always transferred back to the Philippines call center. What great customer experience and satisfaction this company provides.

Our 16 panel solar system went online in June 2016. Within the first 18 months 5 microinverters failed and had to be replaced. Finally all 16 microinverters had to be replaced. In December of 2018 the Power Monitor/Manager on the side of the house failed. We cannot tell if all our panels are producing. SunPower tells us they don't make the monitor and will not replace it. What happened to the 25 year complete system warranty that is supposed to be so unique to this company?

SunPower has been our provider for a few years. We make the monthly lease payment on time. We have had a roof leak in our garage for over a year, that still has not been fixed. They had to send out a 3rd party technician several times to review the leaks, take pictures, and try to fix it. It was not fixed as they have NEVER sent an actual roofer to fix the problem.
I have been contacting customer service on a regular basis and keep getting the same response, "My sincerest apologies Grant. Let me send a follow up once again regarding this issue as I also understand this inconvenience on your end." and "I'm unable to commit an exact time for the response of the concerned team but, rest assured that we'll keep you updated once we got the reply from them." and "I understand and my sincerest apologies Grant. I will include your feedback to my email so that they can resolve this concern right away. Again my apologies for the inconvenience." and many more like it. I was called once and they left a voicemail saying they are still waiting on an update from the technician and would call me again tomorrow to give me an update. They never called again.
I now have another roof leak that is coming through the ceiling into my son's upstairs bedroom and we have a large green watermark on the ceiling. It's supposed to rain again this week. I have chat records with customer service for at least 2/6/19; 2/27/19; 3/5/19; 3/11/19, 3/12/19, 3/18/19 and a voicemail from 3/12/19. I have been talking to someone every few weeks since at least March of 2018. I just want my roof leaks fixed as the longer it takes to get them fixed, the more damage is being done to my home that is only about 12 years old. I am really tired of getting the runaround. Please help!

Sunpower sales and install and even the back office and leasing support have been very good. The problem is if you don't use a reseller for support, if you ever have technical problems, you could be in for a very difficult experience. The customer service and technical agents read their scripts and even when your system down for months and under warranty, there is no urgency to fix the problem.
They claim to have short time periods where they will get back to you, call, or schedule your repair. But in truth those are just lines they give out when in actuality lack of repair appointments or parts are problems they cannot solve. How can the third largest solar installer not be able to obtain a replacement inverter? And you can only EVER talk to the person who answers your call. There is a hard policy against getting a supervisor or another department involved. After several months, they still cannot fix my solar but one can call and schedule a new install in a matter of weeks. I would run the other way from Sunpower and find a local company with a great reputation (solar isn't rocket science, some roofing companies do a great job). If you have a local installer that has been in business a long time (if they go out of business you may get kicked to corporate support) and has a stellar reputation you will have a much better experience and outcome.

We have had SunPower for almost 3 years. For about a year and half we had issues with a DC Fault Code that caused an electrical arc in our DC Generator. They came out 3 times to reset the problem with limited success. Last fall they sent out an independent contractor to evaluate the entire system. This independent contractor took pictures of all 28 panels, including the backsides. He did a diagnostic on the system and was suppose to submit his report to SunPower. Within a month of the independent contractor coming out. Our system which was producing limited solar power, failed all together. We contacted the company and told different stories by different people. We have had several job order numbers. Told by some all panels and system would be entirely replaced because manufacturing flaw in the panels and system. Told by others just parts would be fixed.
We have called weekly and several times a week. We keep getting the runaround. Last several weeks we have been told that parts are in to fix our system. Yet we can get no confirmation date when repairs will be done. Our PG&E Bill is racking up. We have been told we will be reimbursed for the time our system has been down but nothing so far. We were also told verbally by customer service that we didn't have to make our lease payments while the system was down...not very good advice concerning the repercussions that could bring.
Hubby just on the phone again this morning. Once again, the runaround. Once again, I just sent off my monthly lease payment. So SunPower...when are you going to repair our system and uphold your word in repairs? I am sure we are not the only customers having this specific issue with a faulty system and crappy customer service!!!

We got SunPower 6 years ago due to the apparent reliability of the company and panels. However, things started to be problematic almost instantly. The panels were on our roof for months before being turned on because the vendor did not complete paperwork properly for approval to activate them. Once activated, SunPower did not bill correctly, forgetting to send a bill for months and then asking for a multi-month lump sum. Then, our panels regularly underproduced and failed to get even close to what was promised. After long conversations where both the installer and SunPower ignored calls/emails, the installer finally admitted that the sales person lied about production and our situation. Our system performance connection kept dropping out. SunPower kept blaming us until they finally came out and realized that their device sending data was faulty and needed to replace it.
We have had sound problems from the inverter, and when I've contacted SunPower through various methods (chat, phone, email), I have to follow up several times to get technical support to actually respond and schedule a visit (they also take no responsibility for the problems). Emailed questions normally go unanswered even though they say that is the preferred way of contacting customer support. I have sent 4 emails in the past 6 weeks and did not receive a single response. Currently, I have been trying to get a resolution about the Production Guarantee, and SunPower is taking no responsibility for ignoring that this reimbursement is to be done in cash. I am unable to get a response, and resolution is still pending. Customer service is polite, but not empowered to do anything except say no to the customer.

The Energy Concept’s rep came to our house and did face-to-face presentations. We looked at other sellers also and we liked the sales approach that Energy Concepts had. And so, I went with them and they sold SunPower. SunPower seems to be really good panels, maybe the best. The banking and loan process was a bit confusing for us, but we got through it. The installation people were friendly, professional and we felt really comfortable with them. There was one little hiccup in installation and they came out and fixed it. So far, we’re just starting out, but it looks like it’s gonna be a good thing. My experience with SunPower has been real good.

My experience with SunPower has been a nightmare from the very beginning! Worst decision ever. When the salesman was standing in my kitchen I expressed how important it was that I get system big enough to handle my consumption. My wife and I did not want 2 electric bills. We had not yet moved into our new home and I suggested we wait until we had a year’s worth of bills so we could get the right size system. Our salesman Steve **, swore up and down that they would design a system that would cover all of our consumption. Not even close! I have had a JCP&L bill in 5 of the last 12 months. I was told the install would take 2 days it took over 2 weeks! The monitoring system they promised is an absolute joke, it has not worked since day one! I have to rely solely on their word to know how many kilowatts my system has produced.
The latest debacle is my roof has sprung a leak. They sent a company they have on retainer to investigate. The crew determined that there was a leak because the bolts used to secure the system to the roof didn’t have the proper amount of sealant. They assured me they fixed the problem. During our last rain storm I can hear water drip, drip, dripping inside my bedroom wall. When I brought this to their attention they told me because there is no evidence of damage in my house they are not willing to do anything. They want my Sheetrock to disintegrate before they will do anything. The report by the repair crew clearly states the issue was caused by the solar installation, but they want me to hire my own roofer. They even tried to tell me the report had a “typo” where the report stated that the leak was caused by the solar installation. I can’t stress enough how horrible my experience has been with SunPower. Stay away!!!
Jay, We are very sorry to hear you haven't had a good experience. We will have a customer service supervisor reach out to see if we can help you resolve this issue.

I work for a company that is 100% solar powered, and given its advantages, it made total sense that I do it for our home as well. Dealing with people from SunPower was a really positive experience and the system installation went great. I had to get it approved by the HOA and Renovo Solar here did all of the groundwork so it made it very smooth. They did a great job installing it. Going solar has lowered our energy bill by about 50%. However, we're in the desert and a lot of sand gets blown up on the panels and we also had some neighbors that were doing construction, so it's really reducing solar production. I called Renovo and they came right over and cleaned it. They gave us two free cleanings. They're really good to work with.

Two years and eight months later (October 2018) I contacted the installing company about erroneous data I was receiving from the monitoring system.
They elevated the issue to SunPower who effectively ignored multiple email before responding to me yesterday, February 21, 2019. Their email stated that I wouldn't be able to use the monitoring system as sold to me because I had an "OLDER" inverter, but I could request a monthly report sent to me via email. Really? If I can't monitor my system to analyze its performance and have to rely on a monthly report generated by SunPower, how would I ever know if the panels and system are operating in the manner that was sold to me per the contract terms and agreement?

I was considering getting a solar system and met with a few solar companies. Then, someone in our family referred SunPower. There were two SunPower representatives who came and two others who were not. One SunPower rep put the other company's solar panel in a little bag and broke it. The SunPower one didn’t because it was more flexible. It reiterated the quality of the panel compared to the other ones. They weren't the cheapest compared to some of the other products out there, but the durability of their panels made me choose them. They also seemed like they would be more efficient.
SunPower made the enrollment process easy. I met people here at the house and they gave me an assessment. They also sent me reports. Once I made the decision, they came back and went through the paperwork. All the forms were online, which made it easier. They set me up with the bank. It was through a credit union and I just had to fill that out. Then there was a waiting period. I started meeting with people in October and they finally flipped the switch in the middle of December. I got my first bill from the middle of December to the middle of January. Their customer service has been excellent. If I had a question, I emailed them and they got back to me fairly quickly. They even followed up a couple of times to see if I had any questions. I’m happy with my decision to go solar and I’d recommend SunPower.

I have had my solar system for about 10 years and for the most part it has been operating as expected. After a drop in production, I contacted SunPower for warranty work (25 year warranty). They verified that the power production was out of spec and referred me to a local SunPower dealer to provide the warranty work. This was not the original installer of the system but an alternate since the original installer went out of business. I was later informed by the 3rd party servicer that there would be a $250 charge for the labor on the initial inspection since they were not the original installer of the system. I reviewed the SunPower warranty online and it specifically stated that labor is included; there is no mention of an exception clause.
I followed up with SunPower directly thinking that the $250 labor charge was an error, they confirmed that it was not. After going round and round with the warranty rep for about 10 minutes, reinforcing that this information is not listed on the website and violates the consumer’s faith in the company, I was told that if an issue is identified I can apply for a reimbursement for a credit for the initial $250 labor charge. I requested a confirmation email of this reimbursement practice as proof that the offer was mad to me and I was not just making it up if and when I would seek reimbursement. The agent took and verified my email information and stated that she would send over a reimbursement offer confirmation email. We will wait and see if an email ever arrives and some modicum of trust is rebuilt with SunPower.
Hi John, SunPower proudly stands behind its warranty. Your SunPower warranty will cover any labor cost associated with our product as long as the problem is determined to be product-related. Since there is always a possibility that the problem is non-product related (i.e. installer workmanship), the possibility of a diagnostic charge exists. However, if during the site visit it is determined to be warranty related there would be no out of pocket expense.

I still text him to this day when I hear about something different with solar panels and he stays in constant communication. I can't think of a better person.
SunPower's reps also made the installation as easy as possible, even though the electric companies don't like solar panels. SunPower took care of all the headaches and hassles, plus they kept me extremely informed. So far, if I can get a sunny day out, the system should work pretty good. But I'm in Arizona and we've had more cloud coverage this summer than we've had in the past three years. Other than that, I have recommended SunPower to several people and they looked into the company because out I said they were the most reasonable, the most knowledgeable, and my biggest thing is they didn't try to sell you stuff that you didn't need.

I haven’t had an electric bill for 14 months now. I stopped in the store actually the other day, and told them how happy I was with the performance of the system. We’re producing more than what we’re actually consuming. At the end of the year, when we did True-Up with PG&E, we still had a credit balance on the books.
The only feedback or issue I have is that once the problem was reported with the inverter, it took them two months to get a replacement. But the system wasn’t down. It was still functioning and still functioning at 100%. It’s just that one inverter wasn’t reporting what was going on. Once the replacement part was shipped, the local installation company was right on it. They were out, replaced it and everything was good.

My system has been offline since mid December and a tech. was supposed to come fix it but no-one called to make an appointment. I have since called and emailed them about this issue and also about not receiving my yearly reimbursement on my anniversary date of November. This is the first time I am having difficulty getting my issues resolved and I have been with them for many years. Very disappointed.

I have had SunPower panels installed on the roof of my house for about 6 months. They have never produced the energy or saved me any money. I have contacted tech support as well as the billing supervisor about my issue. I am told by the billing supervisor (Mabel) that I have a known issue and does not have a ETA when my system will be working correctly. The supervisor even said she would be sending 700.00 in gifts cards for all the inconvenience we are having. Guess what, the cards were sent to an wrong address and I never got them. It’s funny because they still bill me every month for a non working system which I refuse to pay.
This is worst solar company I have a ever experienced. I have left several messsges with the supervisor Mabel to call me back. I would like the panels removed from my house and be completely done with this horrible company. I am now getting a lawyer and taking this to court. I am also contacting my local news company to let them know how SunPower is ripping people off. I have tried to call the corporate phone number to complain but guess what, the numbers all go to the billing/tech support overseas. I see from earlier post the a rep from SunPower is responding to posts in this site. I would love for someone from this company to contact me. Let’s see if this happens.
I'm sorry your expectations were not met. It looks like you have spoken to one of your escalation specialists on Feb 8th to address your concerns and we are working towards a resolution.

I love SunPower. Initially, I was referred to them by my brother-in-law then they came to the house and gave me a presentation. It was exceptional and they proved to me that going solar with them was a win-win situation, so I went on ahead and did it. So far, it worked out and I’m very pleasantly pleased by it. The installation was also a breeze and it only took a few days. I wasn’t at home at the time but my son was there and he said it went great. So, we didn’t have any problems. I’m also happy with the way that the equipment looks on the outside of the house and I'm over the moon with my decision to go solar. The billings have been right and the way they said everything would happen was spot on. What they said they would do, they did 100% and more. They were the best. plus, they mean what they say and they follow through. I tell everyone that when they ask me about SunPower.
That's great to hear, Ann! Congrats on going solar.

I have a friend who ended up using SunPower. And I highly recommend Sunpower. From the sales to install, it was pretty seamless. There was not too much in the process. The installation happened in December and our problem is we don’t really notice the difference as far as power difference, and true ability until summertime, when we have our peak months with the sun.
The representatives have been great and very responsive, and they’ve been a pleasure to work with. The only thing they can improve on is the communication between sales and installation. We worked with the salesperson, sign everything with them. And then, it went over to the install team. The install team was great to work with but there was just a slight drop in communication between the two, as far as timing, and who was following up, and who was gonna be leading the conversations from there. But I’m very happy going solar.
Thanks, Brandon!

I went online and researched solar companies acting like local distributors. SunPower came up and I researched the company and liked what I saw. They came to my house and they did a demonstration. I had another company come to my house but their demonstration was less than pathetic. So, I had SunPower came over first and I kinda used them as my baseline to weight all the other companies. I was most pleased with their demonstration and their product quality compared to anybody else, so I signed up. I kinda had to do a little more legwork as far as keeping in contact with the project progress but as far as signing paperwork and getting all the financing and everything else completed, that was fairly easy.
When they signed me up, they said that they were gonna be getting me some cash back for signing up and some other incentives. But it seemed like once it was installed, they dragged their feet a little bit on making it right with those incentives. It didn't leave a bad taste on my mouth because I know how business is and things picked up and people get busy or they're sick but it seemed kind of strange that once they had gotten their part, they dragged their feet on getting me my part. I just kept everything to a minimum as far as making contacts with them for any reason, because I haven't had any real issues yet.
I'm fairly satisfied with going solar, so far. I thought the period of production throughout the day would be for a longer period of time like from literally, sun up to sun down, but it seems to be pretty stationery between 7:00 and 5:00 during the day. So I was hoping that it would produce a little longer during the day. I got my first bill from the power company and it was $4. We've had some gloomy days and some really sunny days so it hasn't been consistent enough to tell us whether or not it's gonna be enough for the summertime usage. I don't have a huge power bill as of right now, but again the energy usage isn't as high as it will be in the coming months. As of right now, I got the best thing that's out there being offered.
Thanks for your feedback Adam! That's great that you had such a low electric bill, and yes, as the hours of sunlight increase, so will your solar production. Please reach out if you need further assistance on anything else.

I was thinking about getting solar energy services and a salesman from SunPower knocked on the front door. He was a really nice guy and I ended up signing up with them. But he told me a lot of misinformation and lied to me about my electric bill. It was kind of irritating as he said that I was not gonna pay any electric bill but on my first month, I had a $200 electric bill and a $220 solar panel bill.
$200 is what my electric bill average is in the summertime running the AC all day and I even added six more panels to make sure that I was more than covering my average monthly electric bill. So it was kind of a slap in the face when the salesman I'm covering 120% of my electric bill, but in the end I still had to pay $200 to Valley Electric for the last two months. If he told me that I was still gonna have an electric bill, I could’ve gone to the front side of the house and added panels there, too. I also called Valley Electric and they bluntly said that there’s no way I can put enough solar panels on my house to never have an electric bill. I’ve been fighting with the people who installed the panels, too.
So it was a very bad experience. But I don’t necessarily think that it was SunPower that caused the problem. The issue was with their salesman and installers. In fact, enrolling with SunPower was fairly easy and I have no problem with the company itself. But they should talk to their salesman and tell him to stop giving misinformation.

Going solar was a tough decision, but when it comes down to the gist of things it's the right decision moving forward. With SDG&E moving towards meternet to gouge into peak charges, it only made sense to offset those cost in the long run. The choice between panels are tough, but with SunPower's 25 year guarantee it eases that pain. Going with the middle of the road top tier panels with micro inverters in each panel it will yield high performance in energy cultivation. The SunPower certified installers were very thoughtful and installed 18 panels per outlined blueprints, which minimized power outage downtime and inspection approvals. The entire process was very smooth and organized with constant communication. The only painful part is waiting for the panels to go live and start producing.

After going through a submission process of repairs nothing was done. The problems of only gotten worse. I have tried repeatedly to call and speak with someone regarding this issue. I’ve tried to speak to the supervisor handling my case but I have not heard back from her and I have also called repeatedly to speak to any supervisor or any customer service representative who could possibly help me. Each time I was told that there was no one there at the moment they could help me and somebody would call me back within 24 to 48 hours.
I only received a call back recently that finally gave me the phone number and contact at the installer who was supposed to do the repairs. I also asked that a supervisor call me to address the issues I’ve been having but of course that never happened. When I finally spoke to the installer they were never made aware of any of my problems. Thank goodness he was nice enough to help me further and try to get me the repairs I desperately need. This has taken close to 8 months from the beginning and the problems have only gotten worse. How hard is it to call a customer back and care about your products? When I finally got my panels installed, SunPower emailed me stating that the monitoring setup date was being cancelled indefinitely, with no reason. When I called and complained, it was up and running a week later. 2 months in to solar now and I am still seeing an electric bill comparable to sans solar. When I called to talk to SunPower about my concerns, I was told that during the winter your system will not produce as much because the sun is only up 5.5 hours a day. I live in sunny AZ.
The people who sold the solar to me stated that I would see a decrease in the electric bill during the winter, solar that's that is not how things work and I cannot base my findings off of an electric bill. I am sorry but I am pretty sure that is why we all sign up for solar to see savings in the electric bill. After being frustrated with the rep and having him talk over me and argue with me instead of listening, he proceeded to laugh at me. That is very poor customer service. I called to get them check and an individual came out and said we need to purchase some parts. A few weeks passed and I never received a call, so I continuously called to see what was going on. I received responses such as the parts are still being ordered, someone will be out there tomorrow, but no one ever came, or the best one is a manager will call you back, but you don't hear from them.
When one actually called back, I get the story that the parts are still being ordered. I spoke with the salesperson who sold me the panels and he sent an electrician to check it out, and he said that the installation was not complete and it never worked. Later, after a huge rain, I noticed that the roof was leaking due to improper installation. Now I have a damaged roof. I spoke with the salesperson who sold me the panels. He informed me that SunPower has many claims due to improper installations and he is handling quite a few. He will speak with them on my behalf to get the panels removed. Our representative had told us that there was a performance guarantee so I called customer service on 12/10 and spoke to a representative who after hearing all if the info said I'd be getting a refund for the extra charges I've paid. No refund has arrived so I called and spoke to a supervisor, Kim **, who informed me that no refund would be issued and they'd investigate the productivity of my system.
My performance guarantee range was only met 1/3 years and it was only 37 kWz over the minimum number. The other 2 years our system underperformed and we had to pay extra month after month. Mr. **informed me I would "never" be getting a refund. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he said he was the top person and he had no supervisor. I'm confident I was not speaking to the CEO so now I'm left to research and try to find someone who will help me. This is not the level of customer service I deserve, I was spoken down to by the supervisor and not treated as I feel I should have been. Plus, the representative was working off a script and didn't always understand what I was saying. I wish I had never gotten the panels.
Jenn, We are very sorry to hear this, and we'd like to help make it right. I will have a supervisor get in touch with you as soon as possible.

A salesperson from SunPower talked to me and showed me how the system would make money according to the calculations, but I wasn’t super concerned about the economics. I bought the panels for environmental reasons. We had to coordinate the timing of the installation with the building of the house and it went well. However, the inverter stopped working and it took us a little bit of time to get it replaced. There was one hiccup that we had to fight with. They said they were gonna replace it, but then nothing happened. They had forgotten about it a little bit and there had to be a reminder. We followed up and then they replaced the inverter.
I've seen the bill and I checked the production to see that nothing crazy was happening, and the bill was still consistent. It looks like it hasn’t really fallen off. The degradation of SunPower’s panels aren’t great and that has proven out with the production. But although I haven't calculated the money savings versus the cost, the system has definitely produced what I was hoping for and I’ve been happy with it. I've had their app for a while and I really like the tools they have to report. It's impressive. And the monthly reports they send are fit too. I've been very satisfied with going solar. It has been really great. We’ve had SunPower for five years and we get good service. I’ve told many people that SunPower is great.
Thank you, William, for helping to change how our world is powered. Sorry to hear you had a technical issue but glad we got everything working well for you now.

I got the SunPower solar panels installed at my home in December 2017 and within 6 months, the fuses of the inverters were blown off. I was told that the system would be monitored continuously but there was no monitoring at all. There is no record of energy being produced from July, 2018 till the end of November, 2018. I received high PGE bills during that period. But whenever I call the customer care, they take no responsibility. They said that they would be rebuilding data of energy being produced during that period but no data was built.
Now they do not even respond to the call properly. They are taking no responsibility and could not even rebuild any data in the honor of warranty. They are insisting that their solar panels were producing energy when they have no records to prove that. I am having proofs for the panels not working. I had to pay $1000 for those 4 months even when I am having the solar panel installed at my home. I am very dissatisfied by this kind of chaos. I am fed up discussing this issue with the company's customer care employees and in response getting complaint tickets closed in repetition without any solution.
Mr. Singh, We're sorry to hear you've experienced this issue with your system. I will have a customer service supervisor get in touch with you to help get this resolved.

I live in an area where electricity’s expensive. When I was talking to a sales rep who I met at a party, he said that they have some ideas and they might be able to help me out. At that particular time, he didn’t have SunPower as one of his product lines. I asked him to look into using them because I heard really good things about this brand.
The enrollment was fairly easy. I leased the system and SunPower was pretty easy to work with. I did the pre-buy as it seemed more attractive because of the substantial discount to do it. So far, the system has been running fairly stable. We had a couple of issues with the device that monitors the inverter, but their customer service team seemed to understand what was going on then got it fixed. Going solar was awesome. SunPower is a very high performance panel and I've had really good luck with it. I wish I would have put double the amount on it. I always recommend this brand to my friends and highly recommend to anybody to get SunPower.
Thank you, Shannon! We always love hearing about customers who do their research and request SunPower. Cheers to saving money while helping the planet.

Solar installed 10/30/18. PTO 11/18/18. Monitoring system not functioning from start. Installers come out twice to check it out. It seems like they have to go through a long process before they can swap out faulty equipment like the monitoring box. Currently waiting on Tech Support and a "Product Engineer" to determine next step. Super slow/no response from Tech support though local installers are trying to help out, but can't get anywhere without go ahead from Tech support. If this is how they treat new customers with end of year deadline for tax rebate (can't finish paperwork until system 100% functional), I sure hope I don't have future need to go through Tech Support again. Everyone else is responsive and professional. Tech support just dragging their feet with no action. Please work on faster response times!! Writing this review to expedite issue. Thank you.

I went solar back in 2016 and I went with SunPower co. The main reason I choose them was because of the local dealer Renewable Energy co. I'm very disappointed. I have yet to have a full year of my solar panels working. There is no more local dealer in Las Vegas. The service time for any problem is a minimum of 30 days. I never had a pigeon problem and after my panels were installed pigeons love to nest under the panels. I called SunPower to get some help with the problem. They told me pretty much it's my problem. They do not cover pest control. After I hear from other people that other solar companies have taken care of that problem for their customers.
Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. I have escalated this to a member of our escalation team. Please expect a call from an escalation specalist to address your issue.

I decided to go solar because I want to go green and solar power is the way to go. I have seen other solar companies go bankrupt after a few years in the business and I would hate to have to call China few years from now to address concerns that I have with my warranty on the panels. I like SunPower because I want to support American products and I know that I have gotten the best technology for solar panels on my roof as of today. I would recommend Sunpower because it is the best deal, especially with the 30% Federal Tax Credit for this year and next year. Call Sunpower and decide for yourself.
Thank you Hahn! You make a great point about our best-in-industry 25-year Power & Product warranty. We cover all parts of your SunPower solar system vs. other companies who may outsource warranties to different makers.

Damaged to trim on our house, sagging panels, added “support” in attic only adds weight to the roof (it’s not attached either end to anything, how can it be adding support?), employee trying to hide that they displaced a pocket light in our ceiling, damaged ductwork in attic, and failed to replace insulation, and still picking up pieces and nuts and bolts off my driveway and out of my lawn, all to save $25 a month?! 3 stars is really a gift. Merry Christmas!
