I work for a physicians office. Every prescription that is processed through CVS stores now bounces back demanding a 90 day fill. Even if the patient is being tried on the medication or a 90 day is not appropriate. This is a waste of time for MA's to spend the 90 clearing every refill/new prescription that is bounced back electronically.

Their website and software behind it is a total disaster! Displayed information is incorrect or missing. Auto-refill feature doesn't work. Phone assistants are worthless. I don't understand how a great company like BCBS selected this low quality partner and doesn't give their customer a choice for online pharmacy.

CVS bought Aetna Coventry and one of the benefits of being an Aetna member is that we retired/disabled people get free CVS products every month. Sounds good doesn't it? Well, because CVS refuses to spend money on actual boxes but sends these product via padded envelope, they arrive 1. broken, 2. Smashed, 3. product all over the place - like powder.

Now CVS owns both companies and bought Aetna for like 62 BILLION dollars so you'd think they could AFFORD to put these products in, you know, BOXES to protect them. Every month rather than looking forward to my products I am wondering in a very angry and negative way just how INSULTING they are going to be this month. I have issued complaints which get nowhere. My immediate family won't buy from CVS now because of this fiasco and my sister who is about to retire is now reconsidering Aetna.

I am a medical provider who prescribes. I also have "CVS Caremark" as the preferred pharmacy on my insurance and my spouse's Medicare. After 3 years of both professional and personal challenges and struggles - we have elected to stop use of their services. Telephone assistance is extremely timely (have had uncomplicated calls take up to 1 hour - without results). A large number of the phone staff have very heavy accents - often extremely difficult to understand. Have NEVER gotten a response via e-mail. Have now had 5 (FIVE) instances where medication doses were changed - essential medications - and has taken up to 5 hours of my time and eventual complaints to BBB,Medicare, AARP...and in some cases have simply paid out of pocket - as time required for assistance exceeded my hourly wage.

Telephone assistance can only read what is already in view to the consumer online - and often not even that much. Have had new doses of medications submitted - and old doses sent - if not paying attention would have been using incorrect medication. The "automatic refill" idea is fine for someone who is able to pay attention to their meds and doses. For older and often less educated, or easily confused patients - it is a disaster! I have had patients bring in medications from this company - with 2 or 3 different doses of the same medication, medication that has been discontinued - but still sent...they fill whatever appears to have refills. If you are concerned about quality, service, and appropriate use of your time - use a local pharmacy - that is NOT a CVS. I have actually gotten better service - pharmacist, and Pharmacy Tech - at my local Walmart! Otherwise we use a local pharmacy with much better...much Healthier results!

The absolute worst company to deal with ever. Received a letter that stated my health care provider would no longer pay for my 30 day script at my local pharmacy. So I moved that and another to them. They shipped one with a bill which I got a check in the mail. About 1 week later I was low on the second and checked. They were holding up my script until they were paid. Have never, ever missed a payment. I am going back to my health care provider and demanding they give me flexibility to use who I want. I will not deal with CVS nor set foot in one of their stores ever again.

I would get the same prescription filled every month without incident for the last 3 years. Starting early in 2019, without any notification or explanation, I can not get my prescription filled as prescribed by my doctor due to quantity restrictions and regardless prior authorization by my doctor. It now costs me an additional $50 to get my full prescription because my insurance won't authorize the quantity prescribed and has apparently abdicated their authority to a CVS Caremark to process prior authorizations. They arbitrarily create quantity restrictions, not based on dosage, but on number of tablets.

I can't tell if they know as little about how the new Caremark programs work as I do as a consumer who has not been informed of the changes by my insurance provider or they are simply complicit in overcharging me for my medications. I feel entirely ripped off and scammed by these new policies and will be shopping for new insurance plans based on the absence of their participation with CVS Caremark.

Every time I try to refill a certain prescription with CVS/Caremark, I get a run-around and refusal from managers and customer "resolution" representatives. This is a semi-expensive medication, but not outrageous. My doctors and I do our best to understand work within the "Plan" guidelines, but EVERY time I call, the "Plan" has changed (to my disadvantage) and there is absolutely no one in the entire company who will stand on their word. Irresponsibility at its best, and a complete lack of accountability or integrity. The "Plan" - which is nameless and can change at a moment's notice - is in charge. You've been warned.

I am writing this review in hopes of getting this out there and maybe someone over and CVS Specialty can change the HORRIFIC way they treat patients and disregard the fact that they need to get their MEDICATION ON TIME!!!! This happens every single month without fail that CVS HALTS my medication because they claim they need a prescription, when in fact my provider has written one to expire in 2020 (we are currently in mid 2019), not only can they not read this they NEVER send my medication out on time. They have THE WORST AND THE RUDEST CUSTOMER service available to ever exist.

No one ever does anything to rectify the situation no matter how many times you complain to them, even my doctor has complained (in front of me) to them and to NO AVAIL. This happens to me every single month and it is starting to become a nightmare. I am stuck going directly to them because that is where my insurance is designated and I wish it were different.

I have to switch to CVS Caremark to get my medication refill. First time, I called, the rep helped me to setup online and password, which is why I gave them one star. The second time, was a old guy who has hearing problem, making me repeat my questions and request many times, so he can hear it. At the end, he told me everything is set up and the medication is on my way. Well, 2 weeks later, no medication, so I called back this morning because I only have 4 days supply. The old lady on the phone told me there was no record to indicate the medication is sent because there is no prescription. After 10 mins, she finally located my prescription and told me she can charge my credit and sent out today.

I was very upset because I only have 4 days supply and I questioned, why there is no one calling me or email if there is any issues. She started lying that there is no record to show I have previous 2 calls, and if the company needs to notify me, they already have... bababa. I was so upset. So I told her the medication will not arrive on time, so she told me she will cancel the order and asked me to go to nearby CVS and they will KNOW WHAT TO DO! So I went to nearby CVS and explained to them what happened. So after 2 hours, CVS told me that CVS Caremark refused to transfer the prescription to me. So the best way is have me to go back and asked my doctor to send the prescription again to CVS store. How could they hire someone who has hearing problem on the phone, or hire someone who constantly lied to you as if you are dummy. If you can switch to local store and talk to a real person!

Saying my doctor needs to send a a prior authorization stating they are reducing my dosage. I am disabled and for good reason take this medication, if I could choose not to take it I would!

I phoned CVS Caremark to file an appeal and they hung up on me! WOW again. Thank God come July 1, 2019 I go on Medicare and am shopping prescription drug plans very carefully!! NO MORE CVS CAREMARK. Forgot to include that I had to pay out of my pocket because the prior authorization wasn't done in time. Just to get me through June my doctor had to reduce the amount I currently and in the past have taken. Stop punishing the people who have no choice but to take these meds. I understand the drug overdose in this country but by taking from people who need it isn't stopping drug use and overdoses.

First of all, I rate this company a ZERO!! My company switched to CVS Caremark and I am not happy! I have been taking ** asthma medicine for 10 years now and it has controlled my asthma and I barely ever used my rescue inhaler. Caremark advised me this is a high tier drug and I needed a pre-auth before using this medicine. Dr. sent the pre-auth 4 times since January. Every time it was denied saying insufficient information and no explanation of what is needed. Then finally after reaching out several times to them and the dr's. office since January, they said I needed to try 3 other alternative medicines before they would consider approving **.

I have tried all 3 now and everyone has created breathing issues and I've had to use my rescue inhaler at least 5 times a day. My asthma is not under control any longer and could be life threatening. The fifth pre-auth sent after trying the 3 alternatives was denied. After calling Caremark the rep wasn't sure why it was denied so he asked the pre-auth dept and they provided 3 reasons why. I called the dr's office, again, and provided the 3 reasons why it was denied. The Dr. reviewed the form and said all that info. HAD been added and now Caremark says there was no clinical completed with dr. So now I have to pay more for a dr. visit to go in and discuss all the medicines I tried and she will have to send in an appeal which could take up to 45 days! Even if this is finally approved, which I heard appeals are denied also....it will cost me $1,200 more a year!!! How can people afford this form of healthcare and stay healthy?!?

In the meantime, I am suffering trying to breathe. This company is the worst I have ever dealt with! They do not care if someone has been on a controlled medicine for years and make you try other cheaper medicines that are potentially dangerous to you health. There has to be some way, someone, to point all this out to so they can take action! Until then....shallow breathing it is and hoping I do not end up in the hospital! Which will be more money!!

Having worked in retail I know customer satisfaction is key. Never should a customer walk out upset or disgruntled. Both occurred. I bought a gift card which was defective. We called Amazon. Amazon told the retailer to make good they would do I got hung for $125! I contacted Amazon who told retailer to help then I called corporate and they said Amazon should help. As long as a retailer has a product they need to stand behind the product. All I wanted was to be able to use the card and email to someone. That didn’t happen. CEO office said not their responsibility. My answer is, "You shouldn’t have a product in your store that you don’t stand behind."

After hours of communication I will get Amazon to help. It is appalling that CVS let me leave and wouldn’t help. I will never shop there again. Funny I went to BBB for a dye lot problem. They went out of their way for me. Bottom line is to take care of the customer and what’s the worst that can happen. You have to be smart enough to see when it is a good customer with a legitimate concern. So they let me leave problem unresolved and the next day corporate called to say nothing they can do. All that for $125. That’s the biggest faux pas I ever heard.

Last week I was mailed a prescription for ** and charged $120 without my authorization. I do not even know if this prescription will work so that is an incredibly expensive gamble. How can I have these charges go through without my authorization, especially for a prescription that costs over $100? To add to my confusion, a second shipment was initiated less than a week later without any prompting by me or my doctor.

When I called regarding these issues I was on the phone for over 40 minutes, most of it spent on hold and I spoke with 5 different people. The issue still did not get resolved. The 3rd person I spoke with, LeAnne said that I would receive a refund for the $120 and I should take the medication to my local pharmacist to be destroyed. She said the next person would complete the refund. The next person, Nicole was not able to do this and I spent 15 minutes on hold while she tried to get someone on the line to help.

The 5th person Quincy said I would have to ship back the medication and then they might refund me. He was rude and wanted to rehash all of the information again that I had already explained. He wanted to put me on hold again and I asked him to please expedite his request since I was already over the limit on my lunch break trying to sort this out. He said he would email me a process for next steps to request the refund and ship my prescription back. I have not received this email.

I also have a prescription for migraines that I am charged a $300 brand name penalty on each time I fill the prescription, charging me $490 for 9 pills. This 9 pill supply will last me a month if I am lucky, resulting in a potential cost of almost $6000 per year to manage my migraines. This is a medication I need to function and I have tried 15 plus other prescriptions that have not worked, leaving it my only option according to my neurologist.

I have continued to spend hours and hours of my time on the phone trying to get assistance from CVS and Caremark and have gotten poor customer service and none of my issues have been resolved even when my concerns were initiated over 6 months ago on the prescription cost. I would not recommend CVS Caremark to anyone and feel absolutely trapped by my employers poor choice for prescription coverage and medical insurance.

Let me begin by saying CVS Specialty / Caremark was FORCED upon my life in 2016 and I have been dealing with their nightmare disorganization ever since. How is it possible that I've been on the S A M E medicine for lupus this entire time yet EVERY month, there is a problem? This past weekend, things were completely unreasonable. It has taken 3+ weeks to get a SINGLE medicine all because of gross incompetency, massive miscommunications and glaring mismanagement. To be honest, I don't even know how to summarize what happened other than it has taken hours of talking to pharmacy reps, the escalation team, the customer care team to figure out what's going on to get a single medicine.

Every time I call, EVERY TIME, they seem to have 2 or more accounts for me, and EVERY TIME we have to fix it. In addition, they CONSTANTLY say they will call my dr, file the medicine, the script, etc. and will call back and then never do, so you have to call again and be put on hold for hoursss and hours at a time to get a hold of them and a status update. There have been dozens of occasions where I've been lied to (said this will be ready in 24 hours, or we will call insurance, we will call back shortly) and it never happened.

This past week, on Monday, my dr. filed a script (the same medicine as always, slightly higher dose). CVS calls to confirm, I confirm. They say we are "re-enrolling me" in the system..but why? AGAIN, 2 accounts. I ask for the name-brand version, and my doctor wrote this on the script and wrote, "Draw as written," but alas, this was a problem. CVS says they'll call the doc and confirm. 2 DAYS LATER, they call again and confirm it's being processed and they'll get a call when it's shipped. Well now it's a Saturday, my authorized caregiver gets a call from CVS in the morning and the rep is the RUDEST person ever, so condescending, I decide to get on the phone. Again, 2 ACCOUNTS!!! What?? And she wants to re-enroll me in the program!! What!!

She then proceeds to transfer me to another pharmacy rep who is STUNNED And says, "That rep was so rude to me I can barely speak, I'm stunned at her tone" (so this poor rep was also subjected to CVS madness). It was horrible. At this point, I get a call on MY PHONE and it's CVS!! saying my medicine is ready, but it's the generic version!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!! I'm like: "I'm on the phone with CVS on the other line?? And they say they don't have a script!!" At this point we are transferred to the care team, then the escalation team, and get a senior manager on the line who is very helpful, and then tells us the co-pay will be $1,500 a MONTH!!! WELL JESUS. Why weren't we told it would be more than our rent LAST WEEK! when they said they would call insurance!! So then we get insurance on the line. (Mind it's Saturday for 3 hours at this point on the phone...)

We finally figure out that I'm getting "fined" for asking for NAME BRAND medicine and so I have to get my doctor to get involved AGAIN to confirm it's medically necessary, it's a weekend so he's not in and a busy guy, so he has to re-write the script AGAIN!! And it's now Thursday. So again. 3 weeks. Same medicine as always. This company needs to be ELIMINATED!!!! Is it a SCAM! Not a single review is good here. This is so scary. And we are helpless!

They used my wife's info from her account and used the card and home address without any authorization from me, ZERO!!! They charged my wife's card and sent 3 MONTHS!!! of pills that I don't even need!! How can this happen especially since we have different doctors.

So I called them when this tub of pills arrived at my house, "Oh we can only send 3 Months of prescriptions out at a time and sorry we cant take them back either", even though the shipping container wasn't even cut or opened and I never gave them a form of payment. Fraud. Forcing people to pay for prescriptions they don't need and taking card numbers from other family members accounts for payment sounds illegal AF to me. This has got to be the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I used to always get my prescriptions filled by CVS pharmacy and had no issues until I got a new job and realized they have the worst insurance. The deductible is outrageously high and there’s no way I’ll ever meet it. I’m convinced it’s done on purpose.

I have been paying out of pocket for prescriptions that aren’t exactly cheap. But for some reason last month I paid a mere $10 for each medication. This month, it’s right back up to “who the heck can afford this??!!” I asked the very lazy representative at CVS Caremark why that was. She was clearly chewing some gum and you could hear it. Very unprofessional. She said that was due to them bypassing the deductible at the pharmacy. I asked how that happened. No other explanation was given. How does the deductible get bypassed, is what I want to know and how can it be again? This is going to cause so many people to not take medication they need to take because of the high price tag. Pharmaceuticals are breaking the bank of so many people. Something seriously needs to be done about this. I need to try to find another option.

This pharmacy is difficult to deal with. It is difficult to find "help" information on the website but when I finally found it and called Customer Service, they were not at all helpful. My provider called my prescription into to CVS Caremark, but CVS Caremark will not allow me to use my medication discount card for mail order meds. What is really ridiculous, is that the meds that cost me $175-$200 online, only cost me $15 if I go through the local CVS and use the discount card. That is ridiculous, Insurance requires the mail order 90 day prescription. At any rate, when I realized that the Order had been placed to CVS Caremark rather than the local pharmacy, I called to cancel the order, request a return label and a refund.

The Customer service rep was rude, didn't even speak clearly (not foreign, just should not have been answering customer calls) unprofessional and absolutely not helpful. She refused to allow me to return the meds, saying that they did nothing wrong so they would not accept a return. We were forced to go through this pharmacy by our insurance for our IVF meds. I have never had so much stress in my life in trying to get our meds shipped on time and basically fighting the customer service people for prices. IVF is already an extremely stressful, emotionally draining process and this pharmacy will cause even more headache to it. They priced THREE meds at over 18,000 being billed to our insurance. This maxed out our benefits and we had to pay the difference plus any future medication (which there will be plenty as this is just egg retrieval). We got price quotes from other pharmacies outside what we could use and they priced the same exact medication at 9,849 and this included everything in our protocol, not just 3.

CVS Caremark is taking advantage of the people and the insurance company. They need to be stopped. I am in agreement with all the other reviews about the run around these 'customer service' people will give you. I've spoken with over 10 people there and all had reasons like - couldn't find our prescription, telling us we owed 600, then telling us we owed 5,000, and no answers on why other pharmacies are charging same exact medication much cheaper. If you have a choice to use them, DON'T. They need to be put out of business. Now that we are maxed out with our insurance we will NEVER go back to use them. The most corrupt company I've ever dealt with.

Escalation member said that my prescriptions were on the way after confirming with the mail order pharmacist who was on the line.

The UPS driver had passed my house twice. So my wife thought I should double check. Sure enough I call CVS Caremark and immediately ask for a supervisor, supervisor wanted to pass me to CVS specialty pharmacist. I asked them stay on the line. The pharmacist, tells me I owe 107 and 147 again and the prescriptions were not shipped. So they want transfer again, no please stay on on the line. Pharmacist says escalation lady from previous day will call me. So I hang up because no one's on the line now. CVS Caremark calls me back. Ask me to clarify what's going on. I explain again. She asks if I need my anti-rejection meds tonight. I said I have enough for tonight. She said she will make sure I get meds by 9:30 the following day. Which is when I need them by. She did offer to get a a temporary supply if I was out. She also informed me, that now I owe 5 bucks each for the prescriptions.

I now have over 10 hours invested of my time. I don't need this kinda of stress after a heart transplant. So I am finding out that there is some confusion that the out of pocket deductible is trumping the out of pocket maximum. So my policy has my medical and prescriptions combined to meet my out of pocket maximum. Also CVS Caremarks system has some trigger in April 15th or 16th that completely changes what I was charged to some weird numbers. It just happens that is when I reached my max outta pocket.

Lord willing my meds will get here tomorrow. Anthem rep said, they are having a lot of trouble with their other patients getting get their prescriptions as well. My original order was on the 28th with a delivery of the 1st. Yesterday (the 3rd) pharmacy said override was in meds would arrive the 4th. May 4th escalation

lady I talked to called me back, she was apologetic and was looking into why my order didn't ship. Gave me her number to contact her if I dont get my medication on May 5th. She listened to me and was compassionate. Hopefully I'll get my antirejection prescriptions tomorrow.

To keep this short (they literally lost my box of medication that I had delivered to the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio location at the pharmacy, in pharmacy not during delivery) I will only elaborate on the most recent irresponsible episode.

I get a text and email reminder every month nagging me about refills for this medication. I received none of the above this month of April 2019 and I pulled out an injection to do this evening. Realizing I only have one left after tonight I looked through my email with no notifications. So I googled Caremark to get to a link to order. Its statement is that the site is being updated and unavailable. Um... Hello... For how long??? I usually start getting my reminders about 2 weeks before I need the monthly refill. So I call the number for customer support only to be told it’s off hours (sorry I don’t work traditional hours and Saturday evening is convenient for me to call) so I can’t do anything until Monday when I have to do my last injection. To order it takes 4-5 days to get it. So I will be past due for 2 injections. Thanks again for nothing you worthless company.

They billed the wrong copay assist. They had the information on file.

When I pointed out their blunder, the rep told me it is because I filed at a different location than before (she means a different office) as if somehow each office is on a separate computer system. After she was unsuccessful in blaming me for her error, she tersely told me they would work on my script and that was the end of the call. I still don't have a delivery date for my medication. I have been using Caremark since January 2019. I have had nothing but problems with them and would avoid them like the plague. I have a lot of experience (over 10 years) with mail-order pharmacies and have never had experiences like I have had with Caremark. At the beginning of the year my physician ordered my prescriptions through the mail-order service. After several weeks I called the Customer Service number (after being on hold for over an hour). After a lengthy conversation I was under the impression that Caremark was going to send out the medications. A week or 2 later I called again and was told that my physician had to "re-order the medication". I contacted him again and my meds were re-ordered. I then got a message that "it was too early to refill my medications". Disgusted with the long delay I then filed a Grievance.

The written Grievance response said that I had called to "cancel my medications and that I wanted them sent to my local CVS". This is completely untrue - the customer service representative apparently did this and didn't bother to tell me, and I never got a call from the my local CVS to pick up the prescriptions. Then Caremark sent a garbled request to my physician that asked for a prescription for one of my medications to be taking one tablet daily. A NP signed the form and sent it back, not bothering to look in my chart which clearly showed that I take 2 tablets twice a day (which is how the original Rx was written). Since the incorrect prescription was sent back to Caremark this is why they reported that it was too soon to refill the Rx. And to fix the problem it takes multiple calls to Customer Service (typically after an hour on hold), not to mention the time my doctors office has to spend straightening out things.

So far this has happened with 3 separate medications. I call customer service, they give me some excuse for not sending me the medication and usually blame it on something that my doctor has or has not done, and it takes weeks to get the issue straightened out. At another time my physician sent in 2 prescriptions at the same time and prescribed one medication once a day, the other twice a day. Caremark mislabeled the medications. (We checked the prescriptions - my physician did NOT make the error).

To top it off Caremark refuses to comply with Federal law. A law passed last year (HR. 6) 2018 requires that all prescriptions for controlled substances be sent via electronic means. But Caremark refuses to accept prescriptions sent via Secure Controlled Substances Prescribing and insists that my physician MAIL them a hard copy. I have brought this issue up with them (and sent them a copy of the law) but they refuse to comply. Both Caremark and my physician are enrolled in the EPIC EHR Secure Controlled Substances Prescribing Program. I can't figure out what their problem is. It results in long delays during which I am out of my medications.

Each time I have had to deal with customer service wait times on the phone have exceeded an hour, and usually do not result in a successful resolution, so I have to call over and over. There is no way to contact customer service via email. If (heaven forbid) you need to contact a pharmacist to ask a question about a medication, you have to contact the Clinical Department. So far I have attempted to do so half a dozen times and have yet to be able to get satisfactory responses to my questions. (Usually I give up after waiting on hold for over an hour).

If you are hoping for a tier waiver or quantity waiver fuggedaboutit. They just don't approve them. Waivers are categorically denied, then all appeals are denied. Caremark/CVS is the worst. Because I am out of medication so frequently my medical problems have substantially worsened this year. I think Caremark is trying to show my doctor that I can do without my medications since I am still alive. If you have a choice, do NOT choose Caremark for prescription medications.

CVS Caremark is my pharmacy benefits insurance provider. First place they didn't send me a pharmacy card when I enrolled in the medical plan. They sent me only after I called and requested for one (10 months after enrolled). So, when I had to buy a prescription medicine for my kid in another pharmacy urgently, they told me that I can buy the medicine and then submit the physical copy of the bill for reimbursement later. So I bought the medicine at retail price and when I submitted the claim to Caremark, they said the contracted rate for the medicine with the pharmacy is only $1 and they can only reimburse that which didn't even cover the cost of the mail. I had other claims too and all of it were rejected giving lame excuses like this.

If a contracted rate is between the benefits provider and the retail pharmacy, then should resolve that between them. Rather they are looting money from customers instead? Total useless in talking or arguing with their customer service reps. They will only try to implicitly market themselves, so that you buy from CVS instead of going to other pharmacies. Lesson - If you have CVS\Caremark as your provider, never buy medicines without pharmacy card. Get the card and then buy, if you have time otherwise call them right away. Useless and waste of time in submitting paper claims.

Original Review: It started with a threatening prescription letter stating, "If you choose to fill at your current pharmacy or in 30-day supplies, the medications WILL NOT BE COVERED AND YOU'LL HAVE TO PAY 100 % OF THE COSTS!" SCAM! Every call was a huge hassle as we tried to "follow the rules". Bad information, contradictory information from one call to the next, system down excuses, supposed to send alerts for prescription, with costs, never came or wrong prices. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO! Insulted my wife who explained currently paying $15 for a prescription they said would be over $200.

Quite simply the WORST OF THE WORST in customer service. They clearly have no clue what that is, and are completely inept at helping you. After 2 weeks, multiple calls on several days, we were FINALLY told we could opt out. Asked if it's in letter, another "bad" answer they said yes. No matter how many times you say no it gets turned on. No matter how many times you go online and turn it off after it is turned on without approval it still gets turned back on. If you do not pick up the prescriptions they auto fill and they are forced to return it, they will tell you about when you actually do need it and have it filled.

They will only allow you to get 90 day supplies of maintenance medications through their pharmacy. If you try to get it through another pharmacy they will deny it. In case you have not figured out who I am referring to yet it is CVS. The stupidity already pushed me to another pharmacy due to the antics with the auto fill crap. I have spoken to so many people some telling me I needed prior approval for my meds, then for my insurance when it was already approved. Then they tell me my dr. was to call and change the dosage which was already done.

Finally they tell me all is good only to get another phone call asking for the same thing, which I have gotten at least 4 or 5 calls telling me all is ok. When nothing happens in a week I call again to ask what is going on only to be told, "Please hold while I check notes in system." There are 4 months of notes. What notes are all these reps looking at. My dr. was told they sent another fax and they haven't responded only to find out CVS has been faxing to the wrong number. Well I am now waiting again for Monday to come around again so I can call again to find out if anyone has figured out what I need now. In the meantime I go to work every day in pain waiting for a prescription that by now I would have known if it was working for me and might of had some relief.

Yet, I am still waiting, maybe someone should reevaluate this ridiculous system or lack of one. My concern is really for the people in a life or death situation, what happens to the people who need their meds to stay alive. Shame on you for such terrible service especially with dealing with people's meds. This is not like being out of a loaf of bread, you can go to your local supermarket to pick up. My husband's company changed their prescription coverage in Jan 2019. I had previously been on (2) dosages of ** for my Hypersomnia, which is a rare sleep disorder. I'm not narcolepsy, but I do want/need to sleep more than stay awake to function. This has all been determined by several sleep studies. My doctor had me on the perfect regimen and for a year plus, I felt like a normal human being. Well CVS Caremark ripped that away from me. They will only allow my medications if I am a narcoleptic and ADHD patient. So even though the medications are denied, after several attempts to appeal, but medically necessary, I have to pay out of pocket to remain on them.

Fortunately there are some great discount savings programs out there, I used Good RX, and it isn't horribly expensive out of pocket. I think I'm only paying $40 more than what my copays typically are. I'm just stuck paying for prescription drug coverage through the employer which is a waste. I know my situation isn't nearly as bad as some of the other people's posts, but I feel for anyone having to use this horrible company.

My doctor sent a prescription into mail order. I was called by the local CVS to pick it up. How it got there, no one knew. Two weeks later mail order sent me a text asking me to text Y to get the medication even though it wasn't covered. I deleted the text. A week later I got a text asking me to text Y to renew. I deleted that one too. Then I got an email saying the prescription will renew in a week. I don't want it. I logged into their website to try to cancel it. That can't be done. I called to tell them to cancel and was told the system is down; call back in an hour. I called back in three hours and hung up after being on hold for 15 minutes. I called back today. Same story. The website doesn't load today either. Yesterday the local CVS' phones weren't working at all. This company is a joke. In a lot of cases, you get better pricing from GoodRX. I will sign up with Walgreens next year. They can't be this bad.

My doctor and I ordered an IUD for me one month in advance, and it was scheduled to arrive in time for my next appointment. My husband and I had take off work and planned our day around this appointment. About 20 minutes before the planned appointment CVS Caremark called to let me know the IUD wasn’t delivered. I was furious, as you can imagine, because it was impossible to get the money and time lost to this appointment back.

The customer service people kept apologizing for the inconvenience and saying they could get it here by tomorrow. As most of you know, this isn’t a simple thing to accomplish. It meant more time off work for both of us. They were rude. They were not helpful. And could not apologize for something that was clearly their mistake. Luckily my doctor was able to step in and help, with a different IUD that happened to be in the office. I am filing a complaint with my insurance company tomorrow. I will pay out of my own pocket before I ever use the incompetent CVS Caremark pharmacy again.

If you call CVS specialty I hope you have several hours of your life to dedicate to it. They love call wait queues. You will be in a minimum of one, possibly more. The wait in each one will be a minimum of five minutes most likely closer to fifteen to twenty. And as far as the service you get, well there is a wide range. There is inept, they can't find you at all. Then we have the tell you what you want to get you off the phone, their information is wrong. They tell you everything is all well and good but then you get a call telling you it's not. Next to is waste your time and not help you at all. Oh, never ask for a supervisor. You'll go into another wait queue for the unforeseeable future. Even when you are at your limit and all you want to do is just give them money so you can stop this insanity they won't do that either.

Finally you get to just bite the bullet and pay a bunch of money for medication you need for your pain. But wait, you need to talk to yet another person and sit in another wait queue. By this time you are sitting there crying because you have wasted hours of your life and you can't take anymore at all and just hang up. Then wait, you don't know if everything you just did will actually work. Most likely not, you'll get yet another call and you have to waste more of you life for medication that you need. Summary of story. Nobody here actually wants to help you and you'll have to call them several times a day for weeks. If it possible for you to deal with ANY other company than this one I strongly suggest you do. You'll have far less stress. Either that or just give up on getting your meds you need.

Our company went to CVS pharmacy and Caremark a year ago. We are now forced to use these pharmacies unless we want to pay full price. When I get the same medications that I have had filled for a 3 month supply, it is supposed to go through the mail order. I never know if it is going to go through CVS Target or through mail order. The website is horrible to try and use! It is confusing and still to this day, a year later I DO NOT get a single text that my medicine needs refills or that is ready!! What prompted me to write this was a couple of weeks ago, I had my ** refilled. (Normal 3-month supply) I have always paid $21 for the three month supply. I am fine with that price because I like the convenience of having it mailed, vs waiting for 20 minutes or more in the store to find out it is not ready yet at the CVS pharmacy in Target. I get online and refill it and find out the price is now $97!!! Same medication.

I tried to cancel the prescription, because I am not going to pay almost $100 for medication I have only paid $21 for. Not to mention if you go to Walmart, the same medicine is only $4 for a one month supply! I called CVS Caremark and the representative was really really nice. He said that they had recently made some new "deal" with the manufacturer and that was why the medication was so expensive. I told him I wanted to cancel it, I would rather go to Walmart. He said he would change the price and lowered it to $21. It took him a good 15-20 minutes to "override" the system, as he put it. He told me the next time that I refill my medication, if it comes back as $97 again, that he has put the instructions in my account on how to override the system again.

My question is why would the same meds become more expensive? If you make a deal with a company, wouldn't they go down in price? My second question is why does ANYONE need to override the system if I don't like the price? Why are the medications not the same price across the board? If I had not tried to cancel my medication order would someone else have ended up paying $97 for their medication? That seems unfair! Has anyone ever had this problem with Caremark? I absolutely love having mail order prescriptions because dealing with CVS Pharmacy at Target is a total nightmare!!! Pros was the representative, he was very nice and despite the wait to fix the price, he was great on the phone. Ok pharmacy for convenience but keep an eye on your prices!!

We have an insurance broker who recommended this company. UGH! First - do I have SilverScript or CVS Caremark??? I am getting emails from both and they seem to be different companies. I used to have Humana for Medicare Part D. After a VERY short learning curve, this company, their website, and their mail order program WORKED - simply and efficiently. I am trying to get started with Caremark, set up the mail order, and it has been crazy. I am getting emails with lists of "MY" meds from Caremark. Not only are they incomplete, they show drugs that I quit taking a long time ago. I also get phone calls telling me they have tried to verify my scripts by calling my doctor and "He never answers the phone." My doc just laughed! He had faxed all my scripts - they are still confused.

Sometimes I get emails from SilverScript that don't help me at all. The Caremark website told me that I was not allowed to order a refill of one drug ONLINE (a VERY OLD & COMMON med)! I talked to customer service and thought I had it straightened out. No. They are still confused. This is the worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company and I'm 73 years old. I have been self-employed for 40 years, so I have lots of experience managing my own policies. Happily, I am not in desperate need of any meds at the moment but I am worried that I will have to start running back and forth to a drugstore soon to get what I need. My broker recommended SilverScript based on cost. Now I'm not sure it is worth saving a few dollars.

Unfortunately I have been engaged with CVS Caremark for a couple of years. My experiences are horrible at best. Very inept and dishonest company. Recently refilled a prescription and was quoted zero cost by an individual and their voice system when confirming the order. Later that month I notice a charge of $800+ to my account and I call CVS Caremark. They refuse to refund because it was shipped. I eventually log a complaint and totally ignored until I involved my insurance company. CVS Caremark finally gets back and tell us they reviewed the transaction and they are aware that their system has a problem and quoted zero cost to me. They are fixing the "system" problem but I still have to pay the $800+ charge.

I later decided to just pay the charge but was initially told I didn't owe anything but then received dunning notices. I call CVS Caremark again to pay and could not find anyone that could handle a credit card payment over the phone. I once again got my insurance provider to broker a call with right individual and pay the fraudulent bill.

Recently I tried refilling two prescriptions and told they had expired but CVS Caremark would call the doctors office and get the refill prescription. Two weeks later I had heard nothing and call CVS Caremark. CVS Caremark tells me there is no record of them reaching out to doctors for refill prescription. I go over it again with the call center rep who has a wrong number for the doctor. Meanwhile I am on hold for another 25 mins with them while they call. They finally come back to me and tell me they received voicemail from one doctor's office but CVS Caremark can't leave a message for doctor to call CVS Caremark back because they are just a call center and don't accept incoming calls. Inept and borderline fraudulent. They are Terrible. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS, they don't deserve to be in business!

Was very happy with Walgreens $10 monthly and had no issues...I’ve now been without my chemotherapy meds for Leukemia for over 3 weeks now. Being tossed back and forth between departments at Caremark. Dr wrote for med (brand), they will only approve generic ($300 copay). Appeal denied. Found a manufacture card to pay $300 copay but conveniently they don’t use that manufacture. Will not approve the brand name even though I have documented side effects on generic that make it miserable. Their option today was to go on another drug (one that I’ve already been on and made my lungs fill up and had to have them drained)

How about you just approve and fill the prescription by dr ordered. If they fill the brand name, it’s covered by manufacture copay card and I’ve done better with leukemia counts on brand name! What’s the issue? Don’t we as cancer patients have enough to deal with every day than to fight for our prescriptions after paying hundreds of dollars a month in insurance premiums. So aggravating!

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING CVS/CAREMARK FOR MAIL PRESCRIPTION SERVICE!!! Should be 0 STARS but thats not an option. The amount of negative reviews on this sit should be a big red warning sign to everyone. My medicare Part D plan changed this year where i had a choice of Walgreens or CVS/Caremark for prescriptions. I chose CVS. After my doctor sent in prescriptions for 4 medicines to CVS, i was asked to logon to my account and OK the medicines.

One of the medicines had indications of a 90 day supply and quantity of 30. Instead of OK'ing the drugs online i called CVS to explain it should be a 90 day supply. I called that to the attention of the help desk agent and was told she saw 90 day supply and quantity of 90. She even stated if it was sent today i would get 90 quantity, so i OK'd it. A few days went by and now I start getting notes from CVS my medicare did not have that drug on their approved formulary so it was denied. Well a few days later I get a package with all my medicines including the one that had been denied which was a bottle of 30 pills for $73. I did not open the pills and called my doctor who found a formulary in town whom i could obtain a 100 day supply for $10.

Now the fun starts. I call CVS and tell them i'd like to return the 30 day bottle and get my $73 refunded. I was told that since i had ok'd the shipment they could not take the medicine back. I explained that I had not ok'd a 30 day supply but a 90 day supply and that in addition i was informed that this medication had been denied by my part D care. After at least hour on phone i asked for supervisor whom i had to re-explain the whole story to. He said he forward this to another department who would look in to it and they'd call me back in a few days.

After never getting a call back, i got my part D Community Care rep on the phone with CVS and went through the whole story again. After nearly an hour i was told they were going to have to listen to the call where the agent said it would be a 90 day supply, and they'd call me back in a few days. Well 2 weeks later I'm on hold again with CVS after talking to 2 agents asking for an update and they are trying to get a supervisor on the phone. The call is over an hour long of which the last 30 minutes has been music. This afforded me the opportunity to write this review of CVS customer service.

Help desk calls are usually not a positive experience but i can say all 4 or 5 of my calls to them have been the worse experience of customer service ever. If you're thinking of using this company and you have another choice, i would suggest to PASS ON THIS COMPANY'S PRESCRIPTION MAIL SERVICE - DON'T EVEN CONSIDER IT. I'm ready to hit the Continue Button on this review and i'm still on hold, 1 hour 19 minutes 23 seconds and still cant find a supervisor to help me.

I called on Feb. 1, 2019 to refill my medication and spoke with a rep that seemed to be rushing me off the phone and barely let me answer the questions that he was asking. I provided my updated insurance information and requested another supply of my meds after he placed me on hold for almost 35 minutes. I was told that my request would be confirmed the following Monday and the meds would be mailed out shortly after. It is now Feb. 14, 2019 (almost two weeks later) and I still have no medication.

I called today to find out why and guess what? The previous rep never processed my request, never even put notes of my call in the system and never updated my insurance! Apparently, I also needed a prior authorization that could take anywhere from 2-3 business days to complete. Mind you, I only have about 5 days of meds left and I'm traveling soon. This is prescribed medication that I'm requesting not gold! The other script proved more difficult, as CBS said I had to change from the current one to one they covered. I called my doctor to get the script they told me to get. Unfortunately no local pharmacies carried it and neither does CVS mail order. I called about this nonsense and was told to “get a new prescription.” Since my script ended in 3 days, I went ahead and asked my doctor to send over a new script that they said they had in stock on mail order. To no avail!

I am now out of this script and its status has been moved back twice, even though my doctor personally called it in with the number they provided. This is unacceptable to mess with a person’s health in such a way. It affects much more than what they are taking the medicine for, but their health as whole with added stress of dealing with this. I am going to my HR about this ordeal and making my displeasure known as high up the chain as I have to go!

My doctor would send in my prescription for a timed injection and they told me that CVS would call me to set it up. I had too much faith in that, and they never called. I thought about it 2 days before I needed the injection and frantically called telling them that they never called me. They took my debit card information, and charged me twice, which is annoying and now I will have to call again to get that taken care of. I only use maintenance drugs through them because I have to, otherwise I get any other medication at Kroger or Walgreens.

CVS prices are way higher than anyone else. I also have resorted to using Prescription discount programs online that allow me to get some monthly meds cheaper for what I get them for through CVS. it's sad when you can get drugs cheaper at other places WITHOUT insurance. Unfortunately for the injections I have to get them through CVS, but they make it such a hassle. I hope my company drops them one day. I HATE them.

This by far the worst company to call. The representatives are not experienced in customer service and have no knowledge of the process their company provides. I have called for the last 30 days trying to get the medicine I need for my heart. I've been calling so much I am now out of meds and at risk for rejected my heart but they don't care about the people they are servicing. I provided all the info they need as well as sat in the doctor's office while she was on speaker phone and sent them what they need. But as I call again today they tell me the doctor didn't send the info, even though I saw her send it to the number they provided. But the representative wanted to argue with me about what hadn't been done. Then said she will have a manager call me in the morning and hung up. This is the worst. Now I'm worried about my health because this what I have to deal with to get my meds. Sad.

Caremark is the worst company I have ever dealt with. When I say ever I mean ever. They are just completely incompetent and ignorant. I have been trying to fill a prescription for 5 weeks. Each time I call back I get a different story on why it can’t be filled. Honestly each operator was less accurate than the last. First I was told the prescription was not covered to have the doctor pick something else. After picking something else I was told that it was BCBS that was blocking the prescription. I called BCBS and they stated they had nothing to do with the denial of prescription. I called back only to be told to have my doctor fax a letter of medical necessity to assure coverage. The doctor faxed the pertinent information and it was denied again. The last supervisor that I talked to said the doctor needed to call not fax the information.

This is the most incompetent group of customer service reps that I have ever dealt with. 5 weeks later I have not received my prescription. I have done everything that was requested of me and then some. If you can avoid using them I would do SA at all costs! This company should be shut down and not allowed to do business! You pay your premiums on time and they steal your money and deny your medically needed prescriptions.

This company has decided that since no one will bring their prescriptions to their overpriced retail pharmacies they now are the prescription service attached to health insurances. SO we are being forced to go through them for our federal employee health plan. We have no choice who we are going through. They have raised the cost of all our medications by 2000%. Yes that is right TWO THOUSAND percent. The prescription I have been on for several years went from $8 to $164. That is our portion.

They also raised our out of pocket to a whopping $16,000. HOW is this legal? How are they not regulated? They are killing patients like us who can no longer afford their medications. I was also taking infusions every 4 weeks for lupus. I have been on infusions for almost 5 years now. I was almost dead before they started the infusions, cant wait to see what this is going to do to me. They have removed my medication from their formulary all together. This happened AFTER we were told we were covered and re-enrolled with our Health plan. My mom is diabetic who can no longer afford her insulin and has been very ill. WHY IS NO ONE DOING ANYTHING about these companies killing patients? The doctors are just as frustrated and angry.

Our doctor and pharmacy has been battling them with appeals and phone calls almost daily on our behalf. If my DOCTOR prescribes a medication they will deny it and try to fill it with something else. So what is the point of going to see a doctor anymore? They went to medical school, they know my medical history, what I'm allergic to, what works and what doesn't. WHY is someone whose only training is answer a phone allowed to decide what medications I need to take?? How is this even legal? It is cheaper for me to get a narcotic pain medication that has a high risk of addiction & risky side effects, than it is to get a non-narcotic patch that actually works better without all the risky side effects? Tell me how this is better?

Stop letting phone representatives prescribe and change medication prescribed by doctors. Stop letting CVS CAREMARK raise rates, rob and kill patients. To anyone reading this thinking I should just suck it up and deal with this, obviously you have yet to experience being sick because you can't afford your medications or watched a love one suffer because they can't afford their medications. We pay $875 a month for a federal family employee plan plus another $300 for Medicare complete. There is no reason we should not be able to afford our medications except the greedy companies hiking the prices and the greedy prescription services like CVS. If you research prescription companies they are the most expensive by quite a large margin. They get away with this because they have monopolized the industry. REGULATE THEM. ARREST THEM. STOP THEM BEFORE MORE PATIENTS DIE.

I just recently got set up with CVS Caremark, I never dealt with mail a order pharmacy. January 2019 my doctor managed to get me set up with CVS Caremark. My Doctor faxed scripts in to CVS Caremark, then CVS Caremark needed a PA. I contacted CVS Caremark about my medication, and I was told that the Doctor hadn't sent the PA back yet. I contacted my doctor, and found out that the doctor had sent the PA to CVS Caremark. THE doctor finally had to do the PA over the phone. So, this started the nightmare. CVS Caremark delayed my medication. I contacted CVS Caremark several times, and spoke to several people. None of them have been helpful. SO, today is January 23rd and still no medication. Two weeks ago my doctor had a script filled at the local pharmacy for 14 days. January 21st I managed to get CVS Caremark to ship my medication to me, they shipped 1 day air saver UPS. UPS lost my medication and no idea where it is.

I contacted CVS Caremark about this, the first person that I spoke with was argumentative and rude, the second person wouldn't listen and didn't care, the third person was a case manager, and she said that she would have file a lost in transit claim, and then it would have be approved, then the doctor would have to fax a new script to them, then if the claim got approved, then the medication would resent. The manager at UPS ask if CVS Caremark would send the medication 1 day air so I would receive by 10:30 am. She said that she could request that, but couldn't make promises. When I asked to speak to someone over she acted like she didn't hear me. So, there's been incompetence, no compassion, no sense of responsibility, rudeness, lots of excuses. They don't understand the importance of some medications. Like being made to go cold turkey, because CVS Caremark can't seem to get my medication to me.

The behavior of CVS Caremark is going to get someone hurt one of days. Medication for a permanent brain damage is suppose be missed. The money that these people make off of us customers is outrageous for the poor service that they deliver. I would Like to speak to the president of corporate. So, now I am sitting and waiting for my medication, 24 to 72 hrs for a decision on whether or not they are going to resend the medication, now mind you I have already been waiting two weeks for the medication that managed get lost by UPS. This has been the worst experience ever. Again I would like to speak to the president of the corporation.

My doctor submitted the prescription request 7 days ago and the prescription was just mailed out by CVS Caremark with an expected arrival time of five days from now. This is totally unacceptable in this day and age! It should not take 10 days to receive a necessary prescription. Still on phone for 25 minutes waiting for another person trying to figure out their problem!

Original Review: Do not use this company if you can help it! I have been waiting a month a pain medication. They kept telling they were waiting on my doctor to confirm refill. My doctor told me she sent the order in. I even saw the confirmation from Caremark. Asked her to submit it again. She did and again I saw the confirmation. I have talked to customer service no less once a week. Finally, last Thursday I spoke with a guy who discovered that they have 2 files for me. One with my last name hyphenated, like it should be, and one with it not. I didn’t receive a confirmation email, so I called yesterday. I won’t be getting the prescription until Friday. The lady I spoke to told me Caremark allows a pharmacy to give a few pills until my order is delivered. My doctor called it in. The pharmacy told Caremark is not filling the prescription for 7 pills because it's too soon! I am stuck with them due to my insurance, unfortunately.

I have had long term preventative medication filled by other pharmacies - Express Scripts - for years. Change of health care coverage and now needed supplied through Aetna - CVS home delivery. Dr sent prescriptions electronically to their system December 2018. I had called to tell them prescriptions were coming and to put them on hold until Jan 1, 2019. No problem - come Jan 2, 2019 I start calling to get two of the 7 prescriptions immediately needed filled. Quoted a price of over $300 for a 90 day supply of a preventative medication which should have been less than $70. I said I would call back. When I called back to place order was told once again drug over $300 for 90 day supply. Once again the "supervisor" states after much discussion that since it was a preventative med would cost less than $70.

Ok order it - then rep on phone puts out a disclaimer – "We won’t know cost until it processes." I say invoice me and if it’s over $300 I will ship it back. Few days later automated call says to call Aetna - do as requested and message is the order shipped. Online it says "on Hold" and I can't get any details. Call again and the rep says nothing was shipped because they were told by me all meds on hold - LYING **. It is a good thing I record my conversations and when the recording blurb comes on I always state to the machine they are being recorded also. Then I told them what liars they are and I have recordings to prove it. I always disclose to reps I am recording - made the payment for over $300 on 01/14/19 and have been getting automated call stating that first the prescription is shipped and then a call saying they need info.

Today’s telephone call I once again recorded after automated message said they needed info - stayed on line and was told first that they need payment. (I always take everyone’s employee IDs.) And then the second lying rep said the meds shipped and gave me a tracking number for UPS. Tracking number can’t be found in UPS system. Asked to speak with a pharmacist. Had to first go through a pharmacy tech who needed to know what I needed to ask - medication counseling - spoke with a pharmacist? who refused to give me her pharmacy licensure and pharmacist? stated that she was only licensed in Missouri and Kansas - I live in Ohio.

I asked this supposed pharmacist - she did give me employee #, would not give last name - "What are the effects of not taking these two meds?" The pharmacist starts to play Dr and on a recorded phone call states, “It is ok. It won't affect health." This is a med for cardiac health!!! I am a Registered Nurse and I know how to verify licensure - I will keep you posted on these Lying people who operate out of their scope of practice. They did contact the cardiologist who called me on a Saturday and asked what was going on that he got a message to call CVS - I let him know about these **. All the negative reviews are spot on. PEOPLE START RECORDING THE CONVERSATIONS AFTER INFORMING THIS COMPANY THAT YOU ARE - I will be filing an insurance complaint with the State of Ohio.

Want it automatically scheduled to ship monthly, good luck they still haven’t been able to figure that one out. If I could use a different pharmacy there is no doubt I would. It makes no sense why they cannot figure out how to ship on time, not keep people holding and maybe tell the truth, update patients if something changes. I dread each and every time I have to call. So I was sent a letter saying I need to switch to CVS for 90 days supplies. For the past year I have fought tooth & nail with this CVS/CAREMARK company. I had set up several times but there was always a problem on their end in particular "a virtual pharmacy" was the cause on why my info wasn't saved. They could not set me up on home delivery of meds because the other option of a physical pharmacy wasn't available in my area. I had until February 2018 to switch over to 90 day supplies for ALL MY diabetic medication or none would be covered so, I set it up not once, twice, but 4 times always as a NEW CUSTOMER because everything I transferred the other 3 times suddenly disappeared so they had no information on me.

Finally after 4 months their system's "virtual pharmacy" accepted my info. As I was setting up I asked if they automatically refill & renew. They claimed they checked both boxes for me because my illness as well as some of my meds fogs my mind or messes with the memory, I was reassured that it was all set. So I get my 1st 90 day in April (refills would have been sent July, Oct). Well somehow their systems somehow UNCHECKED the "auto renewal" but I wasn't NOTIFIED EVER of any notification that I was out of refills or anything, this is diabetic meds & other life threatening meds. Sometimes I'm too sick to take meds (profuse vomiting). I always had a week or so...

Well July comes and goes NO MEDS, or NOTIFICATION that I have no auto refills left, so they play the blame game with Dr.'s office, who by the way I have NEVER had this issue before with her office so finally I get my meds, BUT IN AUGUST (1 month with no meds) then I asked again is automatic RENEWAL checked, again they said YES! Well that would make my refill for November, here it is JAN 1 2019, AGAIN NO NOTIFICATION or contact and because of my memory issues causing me to be more alert after the close of business hour, they are clearly taking advantage of the situation. I have no meds, they are 2 MONTHS late, I should have gotten my meds in Nov, so when I'm more alert the business is not open and now that it's a holiday they can't help me anyway.

Our yearly deductible was all paid for so we didn't have to pay for scripts which can cost upwards of a $100 or more. So now I have to pay for meds that should have been covered in the first place, had they been a better pharmacy and refill & auto renew the scripts that were enabled several times. This company is an absolute disgrace, I think I may have to contact some legal services at this point, because my health is paying the price for their incompetence and lack of care for their patients/customers... My A1C used to be 5.8. Now it's above 7 because I have to take less medicine or go without in order to compensate for them screwing with orders & shipments along with absolutely NO COMMUNICATION on their behalf.

Walgreens & Walmart of all places, I NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE EVER... This company should not be dealing with medications seeing they haven't gotten their crap together in the year I've been with them... I wonder how many people have to get sick or die because of this negligence on CVS/Caremark in order for them to start doing their jobs... I wouldn't recommend this to anyone family, friends not even enemies... EVERYONE STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY in...

    * Update after fighting with them about them being at fault and the sleazeballs blaming my Dr.'s office, sent me out meds this past week. I take 9 medications 3 insulins and 6 pills. The box I was sent had 2 insulins & 1 pill. Of course they charged me for it like I knew the con artist would, being a severe diabetic, hypothyroidism, narcolepsy with cataplexy, Chiari malformation are just a few of my medical conditions. I can't afford for my health to decline more than it already has in the past year. What's the point of having an out of pocket deductible when they don't fill your scripts & lamely blame your physician's office who've I've never had an issue with meds not being filled.

We meet our deductible and therefore our scripts are $0, but they have missed 2 90 day supplies with me always with the same lie, "Well we haven't received anything from your Dr.'s office." My scripts should have been sent out, free of charge because that was an error on their part, not mine. Since they never shipped my meds for Nov & Dec and they did it back in July as well, but this company scams their patients especially those who have a fogged memory issues. Not giving meds until the company first of the year starts causing them to have to pay for meds all over again. This is false advertisement claiming to be able to do something then you find out it's all a lie... This company should be ashamed of themselves.

After 10 days of paperwork going back and forth, both my physician and I were informed by Caremark that all of the required criteria were met and it would be another 48-72 hours processing, but since I was already on a higher dose, approved by Caremark there would be no issue.

Being in dire straits at that point I chose to pay cash for the meds with a cost of $505.00. Keep in mind that my physician, his nurse and myself were all told that criteria were met and we are just processing so you can pick up your meds in 48-72 hours. So, I go today to fill the next 30 days prescription and THEY NEVER PROCESSED THE PAPERWORK but can’t tell me why as the authorization department is closed. My company chose to have CVS Caremark handle our prescription drug coverage, back in 2015. I take a prescribed hormone that is very, very expensive. I’ve got an exceptional insurance plan, paying only $10 for any generic drug. I called CVS to ask what they recommend I take to avoid the approval hassle. They suggested a gel that needed no prior authorization, bloodwork, etc. I get bloodwork often anyway, but I was happy to go with their recommendation. I’ve never once, had a hassle-free refill. It’s denied every time, and would cost $1600 out of pocket. I always fight it and a week later, it’s suddenly approved. It’s been a fight for years. Recently, my dosage changed and the gel pump no longer met the quantity to allow a 90 day discount. Once again, I called them and had a pharmacist on the line who told me of a brand name patch, with a 90 day cost of $20. Sweet.

I saw my doctor, got the script and filled it. I had a bad reaction to the patch and it made my skin crack, blister and bleed. I tried roughing it out for a couple months, but couldn’t. I called yet again and was told to try the daily individual gel packs. What the heck? Why did no one offer this? Oh well, I’ll do it. I saw my doctor again and got the new script for the already approved generic gel packs. Yes, approved by the CVS Caremark pharmacist on the phone and took it to Walgreens, where I always go. It was denied. I have put in several calls to CVS and every time, I was given a different reason for denial and saying I was approved for a 34 day supply at $97. No. It’s 90 days at $10.

The next reason was because it’s a controlled substance. No. I’ve taken this gel for years in another form and it’s always been a controlled substance. Then the CVS rep tried tying it into the opioid crisis and I told her not to pull reasons from thin air because this wasn’t an opioid. Then I was told it was because I wasn’t using mail order. I never do. My script changes often and mail order doesn’t work in that case. Finally, I was told my preauthorization expired in May. No. I’ve never needed one for this and if that were the case, why fill the latest script for the patch just two months ago? Either way, Walgreens submitted the request to my doc. My doc has submitted the preauthorization four times now and they say they never got it. I called later and demanded a supervisor and spoke to a Barbara in their resolutions department who said she sees one from a week ago.

I was also quoted $301 earlier but once again, $97 by Barbara and saying it was approved at 34 days. No! It wasn’t even written for that! So, by now not received a promise return call from Barbara who herself, admitted she can’t make sense of my case and doesn’t understand how I’ve been getting this med for years. I have obtained all the submitted forms from Walgreens and my doctor and I’ve filed a complaint with the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. CVS Caremark purposely runs circles like this because they don’t want to pay for an expensive medication. This site is my first stop in my efforts to gather your experiences to build a case against CVS Caremark and force them to change their practices through social pressure or through proposed legislation.

I have been a CVS customer my entire life, until now. My insurance changed to use Caremark for prescriptions. I had to wait nearly three weeks for my thyroid medication and this could have been deadly for me. I wound up in the bed for weeks because I couldn't get my medication approved. I called several times a day and they acted like they didn't even care. I also had trouble with three additional medication approvals that took nearly a week. THEY WILL LET YOU DIE! If you have the option to not use Caremark, then don't. It is just plain sad.

Please consider other pharmacy providers if at all possible. CVS CAREMARK IS NOT RELIABLE AND EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING TO DEAL WITH!!! I've been a consumer of pharmaceuticals for over 30 years and have dealt with many different pharmacies. During the past year I was required, by my insurance company, to use CVS Caremark for my two specialty transplant medications. I've never dealt with a more incompetent pharmacy in my life. Each time I had to refill my prescriptions it was a fight with them. Their automated phone system would contact me for refills and would CONFIRM that the order had been placed and CONFIRMED the arrival date of the medications. There was no communication from CVS Caremark that the orders had not been placed. If I didn't take it upon myself to call them to confirm the orders it would have been a surprise when my pills didn't show up on the confirmed date.

Early in the year they had a billing mistake with my account. CVS Caremark was entirely at fault for the mistake. They failed to bill my copay card company before billing me for the balance of the prescriptions. This happened in May and since that time it's been a monthly battle to get things sorted out. Each time you call them you'll get a different person, who will ask you for information. Then transfer you to another 'department' who'll ask for the same information, then transfer you again and again and again. There is no advocate for you, as the customer, within the CVS Caremark system. There's nobody that is familiar with your account, or to contact directly each time. They refuse to allow you to speak with the same person you've previously spoken to.

Their billing department does not communicate with their customer service agents and vice versa. Each time you call you have to explain the entire situation to the customer service agent who then says you need to speak with billing. Then you're transferred to billing and explain the entire thing again. Then billing says you need to speak with this department, or this department. It's a circus. Long story short, CVS Caremark ended up sending us a check for the amount that was incorrectly billed to me. Then, they still had a hold on the account stating that the amount they had sent to me was still owed! When I contacted CVS Caremark billing the agent asked me how I got that money from them! WHAT!? The agent was the most unprofessional and condescending person I've dealt with yet. He is yet another unhelpful, unfamiliar, and uncaring CVS Caremark agent.

It was so bad at CVS Caremark that I'm refusing to fill my prescriptions with them moving forward. I am willing to pay much more out-of-pocket to not have to deal with CVS any longer. I will be using a much more reputable pharmacy located on the corner of Happy and Healthy. I'm so relieved to be done with CVS Caremark. If anyone would like additional details about my experience, please don't hesitate to ask. I am very happy to provide as much information as I can before you make your final decision regarding a pharmacy provider.

I have to order my medication from CVS Specialty Pharmacy because it is required by my medical coverage. My prescription is renewed once a year. My doctor renewed my prescription and I followed up for three days to ascertain the prescription was being filled and when I could expect delivery. For three days and multiple phone calls, one call taking 45 wasted minutes to speak with a supervisor, I found they had three accounts in my name and no one could figure out why and my order had not been processed as they claimed my doctor had not sent the prescription, which was incorrect.

I was assured finally everything was in order, delivery would be made the following day. Then I receive two emails with info of expected delivery date - neither email would load info. So another phone call - you can imagine my frustration after speaking with two more representatives to find that the prescription had still not been set up for delivery. After 30 minutes I have been assured the prescription is being sent out today - I will believe it when I accept delivery. CVS CAREMARK SPECIALTY FAILS ON EVERY LEVEL.

I went to see my allergist yesterday afternoon and I had requested that she sent in a few refills to my mail service so that I can order them when I'm getting low on my current supply. I go back to work and about four hours later, my bank tells me that I have a zero balance in my account and that I've overdrafted! I have never once had to pay an overdraft fee in my life. I promptly called Caremark to see what had happened as I saw a $124 charge on my debit card.

I spoke with a woman who told me that when I signed up for the service, I had given them authorization to use my card whenever they needed to. Apparently when a new/refill prescription is sent, Caremark AUTOMATICALLY charges you for the refill and ships it whether you need it or not. I asked her if there was anything she could do, but she responded with "It's already been shipped. There's nothing we can do." When I asked why they did this without me asking them to be refilled, she replied with "you gave us authorization ma'am."

This went on for about five minutes before I asked her to speak with someone higher up. She put me on hold and I listened to the worst elevator-type Christmas music, ever for 10 minutes. Then, I was hung up on. I promptly called back and after a few minutes of typing in my birth date and telling them what I was calling about, I was connected to an actual person, Lauren. I explained to her what had just happened and what my situation was about. She also went on to say that the medications had already been shipped and that their mail team handles about 10,000 packages a day and they cannot possibly find mine in the middle of them. That's fine, I just want the money back that I had not authorized in the first place.

This call went on for about 15 minutes and she went on to cancel that feature so that it would not happen in the future. I asked about my money and I reminded her that Christmas was 5 days away and I needed that money. She told me I was out of luck. I asked to speak to a manager where I again was placed on hold for 10 minutes.

I finally spoke with a "manager" by the name of Jackie. I told her my situation and she proceeded to reiterate the points made by the previous employees. I made it clear that nowhere on the site does it tell me this was their policy. I asked what she could do to rectify this situation and she placed me on hold for 25 MINUTES. Finally, the returned and told me that she could request a refund be sent to me for the $124. I asked how long it would take to return to me and she said 5-10 business days. There are two holidays between now and then so I don't think it's making it here by then.

Lastly, I asked what she could do about my overdraft fee as that wouldn't have happened if they didn't charge me. She told me that since they can't prove it was Caremark that caused the fee, they can't do anything about it. I'm so upset about how they handled this situation and their customer service etiquette. I don't think I'll be using them after I get my money back. (Fingers crossed.)

The new physician does not know my history nor do they have my records yet. Instead of contacting me with an issue where I was promised a response in no more than 2 days they have denied my prescriptions insisting I used alternatives. This happened after 3 weeks of them saying the doctor never provided while the staff had clear documentation that they did. I had to purchase these prescriptions at retail prices in the meantime because too much time had elapsed. Not cheap, no insurance help, and I can't afford to do it again.

The substitutions are ones I have already tried and it was only last year that I was able to get my condition under control and managed. These albeit cheaper substitutions do not work. Since my new physician does not have my files yet - they did not reach out to me or UHC to get my history. They did not contact my prior physician though they have her information on file as well. Instead they intentionally delayed response and denied and now I will have to make a decision to use prescriptions that do not work or once again manage to pay fully out of my pocket. They cite easy processes but this is inaccurate and has resulted in at least a month of issues and I will be going on 2. The physician staff, and myself are highly frustrated and even worse their value proposition around my health is questionable at this point. The 1 rating I provided is actually too high.

I have been a type 1 for 50 years, and without these meds/supplies I will die. The insulin they are trying to force me to take was one that I had already been on years ago and eventually developed a resistance to. It does not effectively treat my diabetes. They don't care. They know that people are being forced through their employers to use their services, and customer service does not matter. They have a captive customer base regardless of how they treat them.

I have been effectively forced to get a second job in order to pay full price for all my diabetic meds/supplies. I have had some success with coupon sites such as "goodRX.com". The only thing CVS is willing to cover is my hypertension meds. I have found out that even with these, it is cheaper for me to walk into a random pharmacy, tell them I don't have insurance and just pay cash. How does CVS get away with this legally? Once CVS obtains the prescription contracts from the employers, they seem to have no responsibility or culpability to the individuals whatsoever. They "deny, deny deny". Surprised a class action has not happened yet.

This is by *far* the worst prescription health insurance I have EVER had to deal with. If you are forced to use CVS/Caremark RX LLC for prescription insurance, be prepared to deal with a greed driven and unscrupulous provider. If your RX needs are minimal, then prolly fine. But before filling your prescriptions, look online for coupons or go to another (non CVS) pharmacy directly. All my family’s meds have been higher (anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred $ HIGHER than WITHOUT their “RX insurance”)... Why? Because CVS/Caremark RX LLC “contracted rates” are higher... Essentially pushing you to not to use their insurance. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get better rates. Previous reviewer had this issue as well.

Also, good luck getting accurate cost breakdowns for what you have paid and what they have paid in writing. Website is wrong, and records they mail are only part of the story. It’s like they are trying to hide something. Then the best for last, hope you won’t need any kind of really expensive or brand medication. This is brilliant, they hire “third party” doctors who have little to no knowledge on your health issue, and their job is to pressure your doctor to finding cheap alternative medications rather than keeping you on what you have been using for years. If you refuse to change your medication, and just pay the max out of pocket, then they deny the medication altogether. These “outsourced” doctors are unscrupulous individuals used to legally deny your medication. It’s a joke at this point, “no max out of pocket” means they’ll just deny the claim. If you have other options, run away from CVS/Caremark RX LLC.

I have found that Caremark in their relationship as the pharmacy provider for Anthem seems to consistently price fix the cost of prescription medications. Those medications can unilaterally be purchased outside of the prescription plan for substantially less cost. In addition, Caremark is supposed to refund patients for the costs of prescriptions that the patient makes outside of the insurance plan. However, Caremark makes this process beyond difficult, to the point of nearly impossible to file paperwork for reimbursement. Once the appropriate paperwork is filed, Caremark then routinely denies the reimbursement under false pretenses.

In other words, first Caremark drastically inflates the costs of the medicine which can be easily purchased for much less elsewhere. Then, Caremark refuses to provide the appropriate refunds as they are required to do. They try to force patients to go to CVS because that is the only avenue to bill directly to Caremark, but the issue is that the cost through CVS (which is one and the same as Caremark) is up to 5 times more expensive for identical medication. In addition, Anthem is no help. Anthem states that they completely turn over all pharmacy matters to Caremark. Often, however, when speaking with Caremark customer service, those Caremark people will refer me back to Anthem. This creates a "catch 22" which results in no answers or resolution.

My ire is reserved for those higher up the chain and especially those decision-makers on the PBM side who seem to lack the requisite logic and wisdom necessary to make sound decisions regarding prudent and safe patient care.

To summarize, here's a brief list of the things that have gone so poorly in dealing with CVS: Took over a month to get an approval for a medically necessary drug. Within that time it took at least 3 phone calls to expedite the matter. At least one, if not two of the Caremark telephone customer assistance agents had failed to act on the situation as they had promised. That month-long lag also caused some technical difficulties at the retail level.

Someone substituted another kind of medication dispensing unit than specified by the physician on prescription. When I pointed out the discrepancy (error), no one could identify how that happened except to say that they didn't have the device in stock. Several phone calls and visits to obtain the prescribed device, each time with it not available. Funny, but other local pharmacies have these for sale! Given that we were still waiting for the item to be in stock at the local pharmacy, we decided to purchase the device and have it filled at a different pharmacy. To do that, another prescription for the device was required, although the prescription was written for refills to it.

Called Caremark to discuss the situation. They say that the delivery device is not covered! How so... And why didn't the CVS retail pharmacy know that? And how could the other one be covered if delivery devices (as a category of equipment) are not covered? Spoke to a supervisor about the situation and it was confirmed that with a prescription a medication's required delivery device IS indeed covered. Well, that was good to know on a future order for the device. However, there was a catch to that... It would have to be through mail order. And yet another new prescription would be required.

Whatever happened to prescriptions that have refills? Does CVS choose to ignore that... Unless of course you have opted in for auto-refills and robocalls? Well, I haven't opted in to receive robocalls, but they called again today! When I called CVS Caremark to find out what it was about, they claim it wasn't from them, but from the retail pharmacy. They couldn't explain why I had received a robocall when I had opted out. I asked for a corporate number to call to request again that I not receive robocalls, and the number they gave seems invalid... A rapid busy signal. If it were possible to rate CVS with ZERO STARS that is the rating they really merit.

They are the ONLY company who has refused to fill this prescription! It’s obvious, all they care about is the money. They should not be deciding what is best for me and leave that up to my doctor who sees me on a regular basis. My doctor knows what works for me and what is the best for me. Money hungry company at its best! They will find any reason to deny a claim and line their pockets instead of helping their customers.

They gave him his prescription of my payment and told me I have to pay again because we have a balance and I said, "How are you going to take the money out my account and charge me and give my meds to my husband. I am in disbelief that the practices they are allowed to get away with are legal!!! I am on meds for depression and anxiety; I have been for 6 years. Recently my psychiatrist took me off. I took my last daily maintenance med 9 days ago. I have to see my psych monthly for my 30-day script renewals. On my last visit, we ascertained that the current med level is working so she upped my refill to 60 days. HERE'S WHERE MY HELL BEGINS... I have the script called into Walgreens which I switched to because they still accept Tricare, my secondary insurance. (PS - CVS STOPPED TAKING TRICARE insurance a few years back). When I go to pick up my med, I was told that CVS CAREMARK DECLINED the refill. I asked why? Problem/demand #1 - because they will ONLY FILL MAINTENANCE MEDS AT CVS. Fine!!! I'll pay the damn copay since you don't accept my Tricare secondary insurance.

I transfer the script to CVS. I go there to pick it up and CVS Caremark declined again a 2nd time. Reason: CVS CAREMARK will ONLY REFILL MAINTENANCE MEDS in 90 DAY INCREMENTS. How is that legal with psych meds??? My psychiatrist just upped my dosage from 30 to 60 days and who are YOU, CVS Caremark to refuse that. Because my med regime is newly stabilized, my Doctor is comfortable upping it to 60 days...how can you go against doctors’ orders and require (read: DEMAND) that the script is for 90 days. THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. My Doctor even called in the script and spoke to the pharmacist. Still not refilled.

CVS CAREMARK how can you refuse psych meds and demand they be refilled in 90 days??? I haven't had my meds in 8 days. What if that caused me to be suicidal (I am not but someone going through the same hell might just become suicidal). I see a class action lawsuit coming your way CVS CAREMARK. I've also read other reviews...general consensus...horrible insurance company and you have the largest share of the prescription insurance market. Another reviewer...whose meds you also declined, was going to lose her pregnancy because of that. Lawsuit. When are the legal people in the pharmaceutical insurance industry going to crack down on CVS CAREMARK??? If they don't, they will be culpable too. Is it going to take one or more suicides before anyone stops this???

Found out Monday when I called THEM, that it was not covered so I paid for it out of pocket. When given the option to have it signature required or left at door I made a big point to make them leave it at the door because I knew I was going to be at work. They did not record this correctly and when the package finally came they did not leave it.

I called CVS to find out why, only to be told that I had stated I wanted a signature at delivery. I told them to go listen to the phone call. Every single time I need to refill my medication through CVS Specialty Pharmacy they have told me they could not refill it due to the insurance company rejecting it. They claim my authorization codes from my doctor are not valid even though they are. When dealing with this issue, they informed me they would call me if my medication was not approved. They decided not to call me and instead let me find out on my own that my medication was not shipped. They never reached out to my doctor's office but when I confronted them about why I didn't receive my medication they said they had been in contact with my doctor numerous times in the past month and that my doctor has not returned calls or emails. My doctor has no file of this.

Now my doctor and a supervisor at CVS have to have a phone discussion. And all my doctor can do to fix this, is give them the exact same authorization codes they have been using the past 2 months to fill this prescription. CVS is extremely deceitful. They will lie on the phone to keep themselves from getting in trouble due to it being recorded. I have had this issue with 3 separate medications all coming from 3 different doctors and CVS says the same thing, every single time, about every single medication. And now I'm left without my medication over an entire weekend at the least because they did not get in touch with me to let me know my order was not arriving today, and they never called my doctors days prior like they were suppose to in order to prevent this from happening.

They led me to believe my medicine would be here this morning. If I didn't have to get this medication from them, I wouldn't. Every month I have to wonder if I'm going to receive a very important, time sensitive medication or if I'm going to be lied to on the phone to believe it will be sent and then have to go without. Do not order from CVS if you don't have too! Worst Pharmacy I have ever worked with.

CVS Caremark has got to be the worst run company I’ve ever dealt with. I was taking a medication that I found out while browsing the internet, that it had been recalled due to it being tainted with a cancer causing substance by the Chinese manufacturer. So I called CVS Caremark to request a replacement and they told me they had not even heard that there was a recall for this medicine. In the meantime, I found out that my doctor as well as every other pharmacy in my area had all heard of the recall and it was all over the news. I was supposed to leave in two days to go on an overseas trip and they told me that they could not approve the replacement prescription because they had to wait for approval from this company called VPS.

This company VPS apparently is a HUGE bottleneck for everything. CVS Caremark comes to a complete crawl due to the fact that everything has to be approved by a manager of VPS (nothing gets done until a manager at VPS gives them the green light). There is no possible way that CVS Caremark can override this (or so I was told). Apparently, the whole approval process for VPS can take weeks. Long story short, I ended up having to pay out of pocket for my prescription as I didn’t have the time to wait for over a week just to see if someone at ANOTHER company (VPS) was going to approve this or not. If I had not been surfing the web that day, I would probably still be taking tainted medicine from China, as neither CVS Caremark nor VPS ever bothered to send me any notification of this.

When you use CVS Caremark, you are not dealing with one company. You will be left waiting and jumping through hoops, and dealing with a bureaucratic useless system that doesn’t care at all about the customer. It is all about saving money and making a profit. Finally, one other point I’d like to mention in regards to the financial aspect. Ever since my company switched to using CVS Caremark, ALL the medication I’ve received via mail order has been of the lowest quality and ALL of it has been from either China or India. All of it generic. CVS Caremark mail order uses only the cheapest generic drugs that they can get a hold of. You can kiss goodbye to any high quality domestically made drugs. Stay away from this company!

Hopefully, if insurance companies get enough consumer complaints, they will switch to a more reputable and reliable company. I had to do this after recognizing that their IT department is completely incompetent in managing their website. Confusing and inaccurate with multiple omissions. Also, received meds not ordered and it took 16 emails to get them to refund money. Since January 1, I've had no fewer than 45 emails about ordering and/or receiving my meds. I am writing this to express my EXTREME dislike for CVS Caremark of which my employer has signed up for their employees. I get a medication that has 3 components to it. ONE of the component is being denied as not a covered benefit...therefore, the whole drug is not covered. This information comes from the pharmacy I use to make the drug... Akina Pharmacy in VA. SO, I contact my doctor's office and they say "well, contact CVS and ask them 2 things. 1. What drug is being denied. 2. What drug can be used in its place."

CVS' response is: 1. To transfer me...on 4 different occasions to different depts. Once I was transferred to an entirely DIFFERENT COMPANY!!! 2. To be placed on hold MULTIPLE TIMES and for long periods of times. 3. To be told that "the pharmacy will have to appeal the denial" (WHY!!! Just let me know what drug is IS IS covered!!!). That's all I need to know so that I can call the dr's office, have them change the script that includes the covered drug, then have the pharmacy fill it. I'M HAPPY. DONE!!

NO, CVS can't or will not tell me a damn thing. If you're denying it. Then you have a idea what is the replacement to the denial. I work for a healthcare org. and I work with doctors, nurses and PBM (pharmacy) providers EVERY DAMN DAY so I know it's done. BUT CVS is lacking in both Knowledge and Customer satisfaction. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

Countless hours on the phone, with no phone log kept at their end, promised callbacks that never materialize, shipments that don't materialize, threats of collections when they didn't apply the valid cards they had on file for my copays, and that I verified with every single phone call. I'm worried too about the efficacy of the generics. But how is this situation even legal? I don't understand. I realize many factors may be the cause. But for now, I’m going back to Walgreens to see if the generic drug itself is or is not the cause.

We are forced to use CAREMARK through my husband’s work. My son takes a restricted use medication which, in my state can only legally be filled one month at a time. Even though I opted out of the 90 day mail order plan, CAREMARK keeps rejecting his prescription because they want it filled for 90 days. It took over two weeks to fix. I spent about 5-7 hours on the phone, my son’s doctor spent about two. They did an override last month because my son had one pill left and said the issue was fixed. I just went to get his meds and they demanded a 90 day supply AGAIN!!!

It’s bad enough that we are forced to use CAREMARK. It’s bad enough that they constantly demand pre-authorizations. It’s bad enough that they are incredibly inaccurate and don’t seem to care. But, not knowing that restricted medications can’t be filled (in my state) for 90 days and not fixing their mistake quickly is unforgivable. CAREMARK has increased my stress level enormously. After 30 calls and 5+ hours on the phone, it's denied with no explanation given and I had to call yet again to even find out why. The last call was the worst experience, given that I was transferred to a clueless robot that doesn't understand human emotion (otherwise known at Caremark as a "senior representative") and only given a "sorry you feel that way" non-apology. The implication is that my pharmacy knows better than my doctor for what medications to prescribe. Pretty well sums up the overall problem with the health care system in the US. No apparent means to file a complaint with them and dispute their idiocy, either. If you have a choice in insurance, do NOT use these schmucks.

After I had placed the order to refill, I receive a notice that the copay for my insulin was to be $759. The next day I called to cancel the order. I talked to a person on the phone and cancelled the order and this was confirmed. I found out that if I waited until Jan. to order, my copay would be $110. I felt relieved that I had cancelled the order and it had been confirmed. Two days later the order arrived with the insulin and my credit card was charged for the $759.

I immediately called and talked to several persons about this problem. They said, the person I talked to made a mistake and the order could not have been stopped. I asked if some adjustment could be made to share the cost. The answer was no. I file a grievance with no success. I then filed a dispute with Discover over the charges. They received no reply from Caremark and found in my favor and reversed the charges. I thought it best to pay $110 of the costs. Since then I have received a letter from a collection agency. I wrote a letter to explain my action and am waiting a response. Very disappointed with Caremark. I now use my local Walgreens for all my medication without a problem.

Well, that proved to be useless since they still tell me each time I call they "can't find that reference number".

We are forced to use either CVS local store or the mail order. We are not allowed to use any pharmacy outside of the network, which is not a fair practice and takes away our freedom of choice. (We do not get a choice in insurers through the employer other than not to take it, which is not really an option at all.) We have run into several errors over the years with both mail order and local pickup and we have to be very careful to double check everything. Also we must bypass a neighborhood pharmacy which is convenient, and our local CVS doesn't even have a drive-through. Inconvenient at the least, especially if you are sick and have to go stand in line and share the illness with other customers.

CVS local store keeps putting us on ridiculous reminder calls - despite "opting out" numerous times. Then they will also call us personally, in the presence of other customers, grilling us about this or that and I've overheard calls they've made to others and they do not care about privacy. (I happened to know one of the people they were calling once while standing in line, and now I know all about her medicines!) This is wrong. We are adults and we will keep up with our own medication reorders when we are ready to do so. We also don't want other people hearing these calls being made to us because we live in a fairly small town and people talk. These calls should be made from a private office if they must be made at all, NOT the service counter with people in earshot.

We love the convenience of mail order, but the mail order has a "service" called Pharmacy Advisor and they will pester you to no end. Calls several times a week plus letters demanding that action is required. I had to get my husband to sign a form to let me talk to them on his behalf - which took weeks. We had sent in this same form previously but apparently it was "lost" somewhere along the way. Once I finally got that done, the first person I talked to was rude and lectured me on privacy laws (I already had the POA so the point was moot anyway).

I was finally transferred to a person I assume was a pharmacist, and although this lady was very nice, she asked a lot of questions I just wasn't comfortable answering to a total stranger in another state. We work closely with our doctors and we research our medicines - she instructed me (again, nicely) about use of inhalers as if I had never heard of them before and honestly, I felt very put off by that, but apparently she was just doing what she was told to do from higher up. The kicker was she was wanting to know why he stopped ordering one prescription that their own company had blacklisted as of January 1. (If he had kept on it, we would be spending thousands of dollars out of pocket).

We do not agree with forced medication switches and our doctors don't like it, but we were able to find one for this condition, but it still isn't right for them to do this. The same medicine they now allow had been blacklisted three years ago, so it's all a game back and forth with them depending on what medicine they can get the cheapest. This is messing with the very lives and health of people. Medicines work best when used consistently - back and forth changes can be dangerous and disruptive.

Another time the company contacted my doctor, without my permission, and attempted to force them to reduce medication for a long term condition. I was very angry that they would have the nerve to second guess my doctor and to go behind my back to do it, all to save a few bucks when the cost to me was going to be the same even with less pills. They even did this to us on a medicine that the insurer didn't even pay for due to it being so inexpensive - $4 for 90 days and yet they felt the need to overrule the doctor and take away the medicine. They are meddling in the decisions of their customers and offending doctors in the process.

We have now both notified all of our doctors that we will not consent to any changes made solely at the request of CVS, and that all heath decisions will be made only between us and our physicians. Pharmacists do have a lot of knowledge and we know we can ask for advice anytime. I don't blame the pharmacists for the intrusions and problems, but rather a corporate attempt to maximize profit at the cost of the public's health. We do not need to be monitored or have our doctors second guessed in the interest of cost saving for their stockholders.

We simply want our prescriptions filled as requested and to have the pharmacist answer any questions we may have. There should be no interference unless the pharmacist sees a potentially life-threatening interaction between two medications. There should never be interference in the interest of putting profit over people's health and lives. Bottom line - we do not want CVS to make our health decisions for us and we do not need their help with our decisions. Sorry this is such a long review. I needed to get this off my chest.

CVS Caremark is literally forcing me to use CVS for my medications! I want to get my medications filled at the privately owned pharmacy in my hometown where the pharmacist knows me personally and NEVER makes a mistake regarding my medications. James, the pharmacist (at the pharmacy in my hometown) makes SURE my generic medications are refilled by the exact some pharmaceutical manufacturer/at the same manufacturing plant every single time! That's so important because different pharmaceutical manufacturers produce very different generic medications (of the same name).

James does not use pharmaceutical manufacturers that have a history of poor quality control (e.g., India-based Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, Inc. came under fire from FDA officials over conditions at two Indian plants because they didn't meet U.S. standards; Ranbaxy recalled more than 40 batches of generic ** due to the medication containing "small particles of glass").

James contracts only with pharmaceutical manufacturers with the highest safety and quality assurance standards. He's more than happy to sit down with you to review your medications, pharmaceutical manufacturers/plants, or whatever else you're concerned about. The folks at CVS change generic manufacturers without warning so unless you're checking who manufactures your generic medications each and every time you pick up your medications you'd likely have no idea of the change. It is an effort to squeeze out the little guys and move to a monopoly. This is very upsetting and very concerning to me!

I get a notice from UPS that I have a package coming from them specifically on the day I did not say to deliver them. Not to mention the times my orders were not complete.

Today I had called in to order two medications to be delivered on 4/10, again simple enough right? I get an email that 7 other prescriptions are coming that in fact I did not call to order. My doctor simply called in refills for medications I get every 3 months. That 3 month supply of the other medicines went from $57 every 3 months to now, $344.96 every 3 months! I entered into an agreement to leave a card on file so they can charge this out in 3 equal payments to total around $115 a month. I have always been a suspicious about this practice, but I agreed to it and gave the account number for my HSA account. BIG MISTAKE, my card was charged more than twice the agreed upon amount. I got to the bottom of that and canceled the card, or so I thought. I called my HSA canceled that card, and I arranged to fulfill our agreement. They are now paid from my HSA instead of them putting their hands into it.

Now today I receive in the mail an inaccurate bill for a remaining balance. So like every time I have to call them for ANYTHING I brace myself. I had hung up on the first representative because I did not care for his attitude. They are doing me yet another disservice. The second representative just talked all over me, and evaded the one pertinent question I had about the payments they received. I eventually backed her into a corner and got an answer to that question. Finally after HOURS on the phone once AGAIN. I have the issue with payment resolved. This is after I had to conference with my HSA to prove the payment was not processed correctly on their end.

I have serious concerns about the mental capabilities of their call center staff. This level of disservice is not what I pay for, I am NOT a happy customer. It is unacceptable and I sincerely wish the company I work for had a different prescription plan. They are paid for a service from my employer as part of a group policy that I contribute to weekly. Then I asked, "Why the nasty letter and why use your mail order?" She said, "The price- you will save $10 with a 90 day supply". Why not save $10- so I ordered.

What a mistake!!! The order came and it was a 30 day supply and the bill was $20. I called, was escalated to someone in the superior "I don't care" department and they told me I was given all the information and there was no impropriety nor lack of disclosure given. It was my fault I didn't get the prescription myself and my doctor's fault that he didn't approve a 90 day supply. I asked why they didn't call me and let me know the now $10.00 savings was going to cost me an additional $10- a 100% increase over walking down the street to a different pharmacy. Their reply was, "we are not at fault- we don't promised you nothing". What a scam!!! Is anybody out there a member of a class action suit against this company? I would love to join. I would like to have a HUGE complaint, regarding about my son’s pain medication, that he has been on for at least 10 years. I have also read the others complaints, and that I can really relate what they are saying. First off, all of a sudden you need a doctor pre-authorization to continue with the med, in order to get approve and to get the medicine for the insurance to pay, and that remind you, I have received the letter saying it’s good for a year. Next thing I heard, was to go to the doctor for the approval of getting the medication, and was given a new prescription. Mind you it was the same ones before, and they would not fill it until he sees the doctor, who he has the same doctor for over 10 years!

I take the prescription to CVS, thinking everything was good and it’s still back to square one again! Now they want to tell us how many tablets to get and it’s not the doctor that wrote the amount he gets every 2 weeks of 90 tablets and instead to get 120 tablets once a month. It won’t even cover for the whole month! If it was 180 for a month, then that would solved the problems. Those people that are working for CVS have NO clue what they are doing, and you don’t know the patients, nor you don’t know what they have been going through!

This is beyond the most ridiculous thing that I have ever encountered with, and as far as I’m concerned, they are ripping people off! One more thing, I had to pay the full amount of the price in order to get his medication and was told to hang on my receipt and to get the reimbursement and they denied it. Really? I just went to the CVS yesterday, and had that gut feeling that the insurance are doing this again, making me to pay full price, and sure enough it did. What was I supposed to do? Put it off to see if again the insurance was going to cover it? The answer I got was no again! I don’t think none of those people are on the same page of dealing with CVS, and this has been nothing but a headache since last month. Never before, that we had issues with CVS, but now I’m beginning it’s becoming a ripoff!

I am beyond mad! I have been dealing with employees from CVS that know nothing about the system! I have had my prior authorization and prescription in for over a week and cannot have it delivered! I have called every day to try to figure out what is needed and what is not. Today, they told me I do not have prior authorization! Seriously? I am forced to use them since I am forced to use CareSource being an independent contractor in KY. What good is this doing when I am paying for something I cannot receive? I need my medication. What now? This whole system needs to be revamped! For a medication I have been on for 10 years, it seems the system is the problem!

Nobody should have to endure their headaches. They do not inform you when prescription criteria changes. They have terrible communication. I received incorrect information from 3 reps before I finally contacted my insurance to help. We went around in circles. Finally a supervisor got on the phone and she provided information that was just as confusing before she informed us how to overcome the issue. It was so frustrating. I feel they should be out of business.

Since when does a pharmacy plan have the right to deny filling a prescription if you don't order through one of their pharmacies on a 90 day refill? I was told upon calling "No ma'am it's to save you money." BS! I switched to a different pharmacy already to do that. Stop making people jump through your silly hoops to refill needed prescriptions that can save a life. So to resolve this issue I had to simply call CVS and opt out of the "savings plan". Terrible. Horrible.

Being a senior citizen and new to Medicare I relied on a name brand I thought could be trusted, CVS Pharmacy and CVS Caremark mail order for prescription drugs required by my doctors for my health. So I called Caremark direct to get accurate pricing of all the drugs I am currently taking, they had a list and started quoting me pricing, things looked good, actually very good so I enrolled with their plan, which you can only change once a year

Well, as soon as the period for change was over and my prescriptions started coming in the mail, prices were way way off of what I was quoted, I was quoted $0.00 co-pay and then got a bill in the mail for $34.95, thinking hey that's a mistake I called and they said, "No. That's correct, you must have misunderstood" (I did not misunderstand. I wrote it down). "So ok. Let's return this", "No can't do that, you have to file a grievance, wait the outcome which could take a few weeks and it may not be in your favor." "What, what about the return, what about the drugs I need", they locked out anybody else from filing that prescription until resolved nor could I take what they sent unless I paid for them.

What a company screw the public, especially the senior citizen public. Unbelievable. All I can say is I'm locked into them for a year and as soon as that's over I'm done with them, CVS Caremark and their insurance company Silver Script are bottom of the barrel. The woman I spoke with Cassandra kept asking am I satisfied with the outcome of the conversation. I kept saying, "NO", she kept asking. I finally said, "What don't you understand about NO, you did not handle any of my concerns. Nothing." I give them a zero "0", but I had to put in a 1 star to complete the review.

At the first of the year CVS Caremark contacted me and stated some of my drugs would not be covered, or the price would increase unless I purchased directly from their mail order service. I moved my prescription to CVS and after 3+ weeks and many phone calls I'm still having issues getting all the prescription processed. They have even had the Dr. send 3 prescription for the same drug, and they still are having issues. I have contacted customer service many times and they keep telling me everything is OK, but then, in a few days, when I check the order it shows canceled. I contacted them today, and it was the same runaround, the system canceled the order, and they will have a new prescription request sent to the DR. and get the order processed, SOMETIME IN THE NEXT YEAR...

I am forced by ADAP to use this pharmacy and it takes forever for them to approve a new prescription with ADAP so I can make an order. You can never check if there is a problem with an order until the day of shipment when it turns out there is one and they will not notify you. They are separated in "departments" instead of one person doing everything like at a regular pharmacy. The departments do not do their job and have poor communication between each other. If I went to a regular pharmacy at a near grocery store, the prescription get verified in a day and delivered next day. With CVS Caremark it takes weeks and you have to constantly call them to make them their job.
