Unfortunately, I have to call them frequently to get medications for our patients that are required through their insurance company to use CVS Caremark. Each phone call is a minimum of an hour (1 hr). Customer service reps & pharmacists are very polite but hold times are ridiculous. There is constant confusion, orders always have issues. Who has over an hour for what should be a 5 minute phone call. Big waste of time! I just received an order of chemotherapy medications that arrived broken.

My husband is a cancer patient taking an oral chemotherapy for a rapidly advancing tumor. I called Caremark a week early to order a refill and was assured that the medication would arrive Tuesday evening (they understood that he only had enough pills to make it through until Wednesday). When it didn't arrive on Tuesday I made repeated calls on Wednesday, on Thursday and on Friday. Each time I called I was told that there was no record of our previous conversation. Each time I was also assured that the medication would be shipped that day. It is now Sunday and still no medication. My husband has been without his chemo drug for 4 days. Tomorrow I will be making calls to try to get this medication through another pharmacy since it is looking less and less likely that I will be receiving it from Caremark. CARE should not be part of Caremark's name because clearly they do not care about the patient.

I have filled multiple IVF 3 different times with CVS Specialty Pharmacy. They don't seem to care about the person at all. The last time I filled multiple medications they specifically asked me if I wanted a certain antibiotic filled. I said no. When I received the shipment in the mail that antiobiotic had been filled and I was charged a $15 copay. Also they mailed me a sharps container which I told them I didn't want and they did not ship the needles and syringes like they said they would. I had to call CVS Specialty Pharmacy back 4 different times to get the antibiotic shipped back!!! I was given the runaround every time I called. Nobody wanted to schedule the UPS shipment back. They gave me excuses that they "paperwork" needed to be filled out for the UPS pickup and they said they would call me back with a pickup time. Nobody ever called me back. The fourth time I called I had to get very forceful and demand a UPS pickup for the medication.
I specifically asked them when I would be credited back the $15 and the customer service representative could not tell me when and was not willing to find out that information. One month later I still have not received the $15 credit. I just called CVS Specialty Pharmacy again to find out this information. 1 hour later on the phone with them, multiple transfers to different departments, and once they hung up on me CVS STILL cannot tell me when I will be receiving the $15 copay credit. The customer service and billing representatives do not want to deal with this problem and tell me they will call me back. I've heard this story several times and they never call back. They're willing to take my money but not give it back when they should. I hate that my insurance requires that I have to use them for my medications. I would not recommend this company!!!

The absolute worst company on the planet. If you have a choice of pharmacies to choose from save yourself a lot of anguish and go with the other. Their online refill application is a joke and while you think it works you'll get a phone message a few days later saying there's a need for you to call CVS about your order. Then get ready to talk with one of their inept customer reps.
Two weeks ago I received an email stating it was time to renew my specialty drug. I completed the online part and a week later received a phone call asking me to call about my order. After being put on hold for 10 minutes I was assured everything was taken care of and would receive my drugs the next day. Not so fast, Bucko. No drugs arrived and the next day received another voice message asking that I call again about my order. This is so typical of CVS Specialty Pharmacy. You get the drift...

What should have been an easy process turned into 6 weeks of frustration and pain. Because of Caremark's incompetence and lack of follow through with getting my Rx delivered to the Dr.'s office on schedule, I have been in severe pain. They do not care about the patient and only care about profiting in this broken medical system. I spent hours on hold and trying to assist in getting this done expediently and they put no effort in on their end.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I get a different answer from EVERYONE I speak with. They canceled a prescription and told me various different reasons why. Finally found out that it was canceled because they said my provider illegally filled it out. I spoke to a pharmacist there (apparently the only competent people at the company) who confirmed that I was correct. However, this was after 6 phone calls and several hours of my time. Now I will NOT have the prescription in hand on the day I ran out (today). No one knows what is going on there and they never update my online profile so I always have to call to figure out what is going on. I have had it with them. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

My employer has used CVS Caremark for the last 5 years and every year I have a problem (no fault of mine). Each time I contact Caremark I get a different person but the same rude and defensive attitude. Using the online prescription mail order service was a nightmare. They changed my prescription and send me wrong meds and then wanted to charge me to ship it back! I had to argue for hours and escalate to managers. This year the pharmacy removed the Caremark number and now I am out $1,500 because they refuse to apply to my deductible. The most frustrating part is no one will explain to me why or how to avoid this problem. No one will return my calls or give me any information. Cannot afford the meds for anxiety that this problem is causing. Happy freaking holidays.

I have been dealing with CVS Caremark/Specialty for the past 12 months now with regards to shipping out my medication for IV infusions that I need every 6 weeks. EVERY 6 weeks for the past 12 months I find out the day before my infusion that my medication never shipped and no one bothered to communicate to me to resolve the issue. I find out because my doctor calls me to warn me I may not have my treatment due to no medication. They are clueless, none of them are on the same page and clearly don't know how to reference a file to find out the correct status and what is going on. You have to tell the same thing to 5 different people and spend hours on the phone to get anything done correctly!
They are rude and unhelpful. They treat you like you are nothing and whatever is wrong with you, whatever your needs are really aren't their problem and they make it known. I have written numerous complaints to the company and they have gone without a response. Shocking. They create more problems than help and it's amazing to me how NO ONE communicates with each other through the company let alone the patient. It should not be this stressful and problematic to get medical needs in order to live. This company has no clue how to treat patients! You mean nothing to them, you are just another number and it's sickening that they get away with it.

First, CVS Caremark closed my account. Then I spent an hour 3 weeks ago straightening out my account that is all messed up for no reason. I have spent about 5 hours on the phone with CVS Caremark. They had to re-open my file twice - whatever that means. Still no prescription in sight. Everytime I call, it is a 30 minute conversation leaving me with calling the doctor's office again to get more information and to get the CVS Caremark Authorization code they gave to my doctor and lost. It is beyond ridiculous. This company is beyond unorganized and every time I call there is a new reason for the delay of a medication I have been on for the past (10) years.

Later I called them and they stated they had no previous record of me calling them then wanted me to investigate the post office. I had stage iv papillary carcinoma and take ** (brand name only) to suppress a reoccurrence. Since they would not send out another 3 months' supply I was forced to take **, old **, mix and match various pills to make my 200mcg and go without. They risked my life then had the audacity to charge me a $60 co-payment and claim that they never received my previous phone calls.
I will never do business with them again. I suggest anyone reading this to avoid them. I like local CVS but will never, ever do business mail order again. I don't know who lost it. The post office doesn't know who lost it or where it is but they were not honorable with me. They cost me money, time, pain and suffering and put my life into risk. I have nothing good to say about them. Suggestions: Record every recording. Get everyone's name. Document everything. Be prepared to call day after day. I won't deal with this kind of stress ever again.

For the past 5 years, after a stroke and different attempts with medications I started taking **. First it was a pharmacists who declined the **. A pharmacist overruled a physician. When I ask the name they just told me Juan no last name and he was an RPH. When I question again the name the pharmacy tech told me they weren't authorized to reveal the name. I wonder why??? The second time they said it was a doctor but of course refused to give me the name.
At this point and after 2 visits to the ER I still have no medication. This is the worst insurance and full of mediocre staff who don't give a hoot about you. I would like to let consumers know that CVS Caremark is ripping me off. My 14 year old autistic/ADHD/OCD/anxiety disorder has been on ** since he was 5. Because the price of the brand name is/was SO high, I decided to take a chance and use the generic. I did this for 1 month. THEN, CVS removed the generic (**) from their formulary. I had his neurologist send to CVS a prior authorization for review to lower the cost, since this drug is medically necessary. CVS denied this request, and is now charging me $90+ for a month's supply of 2 different doses of the generic.
NOW... I check on CVS Caremark (logged into my account) what the brand would cost. I pulled up a total price of $92.49 for 2 different strengths (which is necessary). When I ask the "Resolution Specialist" what the price is for both strengths she quotes me: $133.50!!! I asked why the difference from her price and what I see logged into my account? She responds: "the price you see on the website is just an estimate, and the prices change daily". Since when does this happen? I asked where can I go to find out the daily price of **, since I am on a tight budget (one income family due to disabled son) and would like to check that out for myself. She said it was impossible to do. I would like to lodge a formal complaint against this company, and need direction on how to do so. The pharmacy said the cost of the drug had not changed and that I should call CVS because it did not changed. I called them and they first said then it was pharmacy not them and I then explained, "No, they said the cost had not changed." Then they really could not give me a reason why it changed. I told them its very hard to believe after calling and them finding out what I was paying elsewhere in the matter of 10-15 mins they up the price. They still had no reasons to give. I spoke with a manager and everything. This company seems like they are involved with Ins fraud and should be investigated. I would be happy to help with this.

Avoid this company at all costs if you can. Unfortunately, my insurer selected this administrator for prescription benefits and I have no other choice. I was left without an oncology medication for four days before I received an override to use my local specialty pharmacy with whom I had worked seamlessly for six years. Prior to CVS/Caremark assuming the contract I had a standing override to utilize a local specialty pharmacy for 6+ years. I never was advised that CVS/ Caremark would no longer honor the pre-existing override.
One month later, my prescription was not yet processed and I will have been left without medication for at least one more day. Inept and incompetent are apt descriptors. Though most customer service reps have been apologetic, it appears that they have many untrained employees who are using a new software system. For those living in Wisconsin, I would recommend filing a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance which can be done online ** as it has been my experience that insurance providers are loathe to amass complaints as their ability to sell insurance in the state may be curtailed.

I am unfortunately stuck with this garbage company because of my employer but they CANNOT ever get anything right! Every time I have a new prescription or a refill on a current one I ALWAYS have problems! I am so fed up with this company I decided to write this review. My birth control is supposed to auto refill on time every 3 months and it is NEVER on time. Apparently this company thinks that you can just go 2 weeks without your pills and it's fine! That's NOT how things work!! Why can you never refill a prescription on time?!?! Then they tell you that IT IS on time and they won't send it out to you!!! I'm sorry but when I'm OUT OF PILLS my refill is CLEARLY NOT ON TIME! Then they continue to argue with you and never actually help with the problem.
This company definitely does not put the customer first! I really do not know how they stay in business. I wish we could all boycott them so they go out of business! It is ludicrous! I cannot BELIEVE how many problems I have had with Caremark. It baffles my mind. Avoid this company at all costs if you can!!! They definitely DO NOT care about their customers in the least!

If you want an Rx company that sends you prescription orders that you did not request or one that double charges your credit card but shows your billing as being half that amount then this is your company. Also, they claim that their order processing is 1-2 days, but that time frame is never consistent. I just ordered a prescription on Oct. 3, 2016. They sent me a notice that it was shipped today the 10th of Oct. USPS has not received the item yet to be shipped.

I have to take an oral med for a chronic condition. I got the Rx from the doc's office and went to a local CVS pharmacy. Was told my CVS caremark insurance requires me to use specialty pharmacy to obtain the drug. The RPh from the local CVS returned the Rx back to me. So I called 800 number provided by the RPh. The 1st representative obtained all of my Rx, prescription insurance information and coupon information through the phone, told me that they will need to do verification of the Rx before any processing. Then I got hang up suddenly. So I called again. The 2nd representative was VERY rude that she did not want to help at all! Kept saying because she was not the rep helped me before so she can do NOTHING!
After I begged again and again, she said she would look into it and tried to find out who helped me before and gave me a callback. One hour passed no call came. It was almost 8:40PM. My wife checked the business hour of specialty pharmacy online and knew that it was going to close in 20 minutes. So I called again. 3rd rep said he can help that he did something so this time we can pick up the drug in a local CVS store. Next day, we went to a local 24hr CVS and got the drug.
25 days later, my wife called that local CVS store to do the 1st refill and was told again I have to use the specialty pharmacy. My wife called specialty pharmacy trying to do local fill. They said we have to call the insurance to request. So she called insurance and requested local fill because of the previous bad experience w/ the specialty pharmacy. The ins rep said she would stay on the phone line to talk to the specialty pharmacy together. It took her 2 hours to talk to different people from the out-of-state cvs specialty dispensing pharmacy, basically stating the previous bad experience again and again to two different people from that specialty dispensing pharmacy but no progress for the refill process at all.
My wife was so desperate that I would not get the medication on time because of the doc verification, account verification, insurance verification, etc. The result of this 2 hour calling was they would have to do all the verifications and cannot promise when the drug would come. Actually all of these information they can get from that local CVS pharmacy but they would not do it! My wife asked if she was speaking to a pharmacist, and the answer was NO! I do not understand the existence of such "specialty pharmacy" that they do not help patients at all in any level but trying to make drug dispensing process so difficult.
How can a specialty pharmacy called itself a pharmacy that customers can NOT even get a pharmacist to deal with Rx??! After went around with them for 2 hours, my wife gave up and hang up. Then she called CVS Caremark insurance again and wanted to know if I can use other company's specialty pharmacy. The rep initially said yes as long as it's specialty pharmacy, but then she said no. Then the rep offered my wife that she was going to ask someone in the specialty pharmacy or herself to do an override for me. So I was able to fill the Rx at the local store.
This was the worst experience we had with the CVS insurance and pharmacy service ever! I don't know if I can get my drug on time for next month or not. Bad side is I have to take the med as the rest of my life. Sigh... This is the healthcare in the United States. Government shall investigate into it. CVS is being too powerful!

I have recently transitioned from private insurance to Medicare and ended up with Caremark as the preferred pharmacy. What a sham they are running! My doctor ordered ** 300mg 3 times a day. That cost would have been $14.96. INSTEAD, they fill it for ** 300mg 3 times a day at the cost of $115.00. They will not stop the order and they have already taken the $115.00 from my checking. I have income of $629.00 per month. I cannot afford the $115.00 payment for a medication that I could pay $14.96 to receive. They are waiting for the label to be printed and say "we cannot stop the shipment." So my alternative is that I wait for the arrival of the shipment, THEN request a return label, mail it back and once they receive the medication back, they will CONSIDER the refund. I am filing a grievance with them as this puts me out $115.00 vs $14.96 for at least a month IF they actually refund the cost once I return it.
I believe they are an perfect example of how and why senior citizens feel they are being taken advantage of. They hold us hostage because they "require" an account number for payment, they don't request authorization prior to tapping our accounts and then and only then they MIGHT refund the money. So Jan 1 I got transitioned through my ex-employer from Express Scripts to Caremark. I never had problems with Express Scripts. Some prescriptions got carried over, some did not. They really began jerking me around with one generic drug. My doctor wanted to give me an inject-table one in addition to the pill version, single use, forget it, I gave up, for the first time they wanted some deal where the doctor's office calls them and gives them all kinds of details. The office won't do it, they say it takes up a half hour of time. Why can't Caremark just send us a form to fill out? - no, Caremark won't do that. Then on the pills for the drug they did the same thing. Jerked me around for months then finally after a long time they said it would be shipping August 1. But when I checked - oops! They canceled it because as of August 1 - I go over to Caremark Silverscript - the 65 and over one. So now I have to get a new prescription.
I use the "order" tab where you order a drug and they contact your doctor. I specified 50mg, they respond it's shipping but don't say in the email what strength. Turns out it's 25mg. But somehow the local CVS also has the same prescription - but the correct one, 50mg. How did they get it right but the mail order could not? Now I have to stop the shipment because if it ships they will say I am not eligible for another 90 days. I still don't understand why this prescription plan is so high. $114 a month for me and my ex-employer is paying 40%. That means it's about a $200 plan? None of the stand-alone Medicare plans are that high, the highest individual plans are around $95.

These people are absolutely idiots. They send one prescription when I don't need it and another, they say according to their records isn't due refill. I've been taking these same medications for years. I originally signed up with them through SilverScript because the local CVS store hounded me about filing prescriptions long before I needed to refill them. I will never renew my membership with them again. Their website is terrible. Please note one example is ** 10mg.

My husband and I have been taking the same prescription since 2008. CVS Caremark sent us information stating that they would no longer cover the prescription unless we had additional testing. CVS Caremark gave us less than one month's notice on this and the first available testing date isn't until October, 2016. We filed an emergency appeal and it was denied. Our concern is that CVS Caremark gave us less than 30 days' notice that they would no longer cover our prescription and now we are looking at the possibility of going four months without it (until we are able to go through the additional testing they require and even though the prescription is given by our primary care physician of 10+ years). After doing some additional research, there appears to be multiple complaints of this nature against CVS Caremark.

My son has been prescribed a medication only available from two specialty pharmacies, only one of which takes his insurance. So I'm stuck with Caremark. Myself and my son's MD have spent no less than 5 hours on the phone with Caremark customer service this week to set up the delivery of this med and then to find out why it never arrived. I was transferred to multiple customer service people, had to explain the whole mess to every new person I talked with, and was told a variety of contradictory things from "we don't carry this medication" to "we delivered it on 5/23 (a previous order)". Some people found his record, others couldn't find it at all. The injection was to be given today and it must be given on a schedule. Caremark's incompetence is seriously affecting my son's health... a matter his MD intends to report to the medical powers that be. If you have a choice, RUN from this pharmacy!

My Dr. wrote a specialty RX for me on 4/27/16. His office called in for the required preapproval process as directed by CVS specialty. It took 3 weeks for CVS to approve it. Today is 6/7/16 - 6 weeks later from original date of RX and I still do not have medicine. I called over a week ago asking for a status in which they assured me I would be getting a call in a matter of days for delivery. Today I was told that the correct CVS didn't have my RX and couldn't fill it until it was transferred.
Lucky for me, I am on a temporary medicine that is somewhat helping me and I don't run the risk of dying from my disease. What about those who do?!! What about cancer patients who need their specialty RX? What about diabetics who need their insulin? What about all those life threatening illness' that survive strictly from medication? This company needs to be investigated before someone loses their life.

After attempting to find help, I requested to be transferred to a manager, & was sent to someone named "Sherry" who works out of Seattle. She PROMISED to call in a 10 day refill to a local pharmacy, and overnight my refill the next day (Thursday). Thursday a.m., NO REFILL. Called in to local pharmacy, no refill sent overnight. I called her direct line, left a message, and NEVER heard back. I am now on my third day w/o my medication, which NOBODY at CVS/Caremark seems to feel is a problem. I would NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. If you have ANY choice in the matter, DO NOT do business with them.

Coming from Medco, which is the gold standard of mail-away prescription plans, Caremark was a rude shock! Every time I receive an email notification from them, I have to steel myself to go to the website to see what the email is about. I receive too many emails, yet don't receive enough information from them. They are unnecessarily reluctant to name the medication, even when I have logged into the my account. I understand HIPAA rules, but once I've logged into my account, I think it's safe to refer to prescriptions by name, as opposed to Rx or order number. I'm then forced to look up the number so that I know what they're referring to. The "pages" within the site are counter-intuitive and confusing.
In trying to find if a medication is active or if I need to contact my physician, trying to find where I can get that information is daunting. One medication I have indicated that I no longer take is suggested as a candidate for the auto refill program, even though I've removed it from the list of medications I take. On the View Order Status page it clearly says "Show orders from the last thirty days" then shows a medication that they will fill in July even though this is May. Their confusing website and confounding emails clearly trump any other positive aspect of their business practices.

I complained vigorously and for safety told CVS to remove my credit card number from their system. I was shocked when CVS shipped the same order again and charged my credit card. At this point I was more than upset and raged with customer service about the fulfillment department's incompetence or duplicity. A sympathetic customer service representative sent me a return label for the second order. I returned both orders. CVS received package. Discover card reversed the charges for me, but CVS Caremark put my account in collection for $82.27. Good luck with that. I'll never do businesses with them again.

CVS pharmaceutical coverage is really bad and they deny claims on the fly. No documents exist to say what is covered, what is not, and what pharmacy you have to use for 90-day prescriptions. READ THE FINE PRINT!!! Oh I forgot--- there is no "fine print" because no documents exist regarding coverage. When you call and want to see the rules in writing (to see why you were denied), they flat out tell you they don't have any documents explaining coverage.
Isn't it illegal for an insurance company to sell insurance to employees via an employer insurance plan but not give the members any documents explaining what's covered? I know under ObamaCare insurance companies have to provide written specifications on what's covered and what's not for individuals buying coverage. Everyone should file a complaint with their state's Insurance Commissioner complaining that CVS/Caremark won't disclose coverage benefits to subscribers.

I have been trying since August of 2014 to get my money back and although I've been able to recover a portion of what they've taken, I am unable to get back $250.00.
Since there is no other pharmacy my insurance will allow me to get this MS drug from, I will no longer be taking this medication. I refuse to do business with CAREMARK since they has STOLEN $250 of my very, very hard-earned money. One to One program has been NO help either as over the course of 21 months, I have been passed to SEVEN different nurses, all of which have vowed to help me get my money back. The last few times I tried to have my prescription filled, I was told by the pharmacists that my prescription had been denied by CVS Caremark. I had to pay for my prescription out of pocket, to the tune of $600+!
Days later I would receive a letter from CVS Caremark that my prescription had been denied because it was expensive. There was no mention that it was bad for my health; just that CVS felt that it was too expensive and my doctor should try lower cost alternatives first. I'm so frustrated because I've been suffering with migraines since 2006. I've tried every over-the-counter drug that was available to me. The side effects (rebound headaches) would mean a month of migraines with no relief.
My doctor called CVS Caremark as they demanded, even provided the documentation they needed, however all of my future prescriptions were not covered. I can't understand this! How is this helping me at all? In the letter from CVS Caremark, it states their intentions are to ensure I "can be good to (my) health and wallet". We have been trying to get fertility medication for over two weeks. Caremark has terrible customer service. They transfer us at least four times per call, lose information, don't have a working knowledge of medications, and send any customer complaints to a customer service voicemail. They didn't receive the prior authorization from our doctor (we watched the doctor make the call and send the fax), caused paperwork delays because they didn't recognize the generic brand of the medication we needed, and kept asking for more money.
When all the paperwork finally came through and they got the information straight, we paid $55 for the medication (which is what they quoted). When we called today, they told us they actually needed us to pay $130 more before the prescription could be filled. Because fertility medication is time sensitive, their consistent delays and price changes have probably ruined our chances of getting pregnant this cycle (and potentially forever). Needless to say, we will not be going through them for any medication in the future.

It's gone on for years. CVS Caremark has no desire to give good customer service. We struggle to get our medications delivered to us. Whether I call or write, they have excuses for why I do not receive my medication on a timely basis. This time for me, it is anti-depressants. It is dangerous not to take them routinely and ongoing. Not taking them can cause people to become very ill and even suicidal from the chemical imbalance and from the frustration of trying over and over to get help and get in touch with someone and have someone pay attention to me, someone to HELP me. If I don't kill myself over the chemical imbalance, my family will kill me for the out of control moods I'm in because the lack of chemicals in my brain are causing me to be very irrational.
Back story: I saw my doctor on Feb. 17 and she put in a reorder/renewal for me for these 2 drugs. Weeks went by and they did not come in the mail. I check order online and it said "Ready to be ordered," so I clicked to order. Waited another week... nothing in mail. I called the "help" number of CVS Caremark. The man who answered my call could hardly speak an English that I could understand and I don't think he understood what I was telling him. He repeated a script over and over (always thanking me for calling). I think my discussion with him did not fit his script. After a while he told me that he would "manually" put in the order and the meds would be sent. He even gave me a confirmation number.
I waited. A week later I checked online and the meds are listed as "On hold, waiting to receive information from my prescriber." Later I check online and it says that I need to notify my prescriber that they need to contact CVS Caremark because they need to get more information from them. (I always wonder why it isn't their obligation to contact them if they need information?) They did NOT call me or send me a normal email to notify me that there was a problem... NO follow-up on this business I am trying to give them. It seems to be a game they play and I don't know the rules of the game!!
Then I call my doctor/prescriber and only have the option of leaving a voice mail message. (No real people there will talk to me. I have to "talk to the recording and they will call me back.") The message said that if I was calling about a "preauthorization" I would have to wait for 5-7 days for an answer. These meds I take are generic, cheap, taken same ones for YEARS. They should not be on the pre-authorization schedule. But I waited. No response for 7 days. Then on March 31, I call back to CVS Caremark. At least this person spoke understandable English. She said she was authorized to take care of this situation and she would transfer me to someone else. After a while she came on and introduced me and told me the person on the line had been given the circumstances of my call.
I admit, I broke down... probably was hard to understand. I apologized for my seemingly anger issues over this. I questioned the "manual" order that I was told was being sent in and the confirmation number that the non-English person had given me on March 8. She said that person had no authority to manually order anything and did not order anything. She also told me there was no evidence in my records that any meds had been ordered for me from the doctor's office and for the meds I have been talking about. NOTHING on my record. After chasing this since Feb. 17 and today it was March 31, 2016. NOTHING. How can this be?? No record!!!
She then proceeded to put in my records but her computer "wasn't working." She put me on hold many times. I waited until I was absolutely exhausted from crying and emotional, and couldn't sit there receiving this abuse any longer. I hung up. Today April 1, I called to my doctor's office and again the only thing the live person can do is send me to a voice mail. They can no longer give out a direct line to call. I left the message and was called back after couple of hours. She was sympathetic and she will have the doctor call me to see what is best route for me while waiting for CVS Caremark to send out the meds which she did order for me. It is now 3:30 and I've heard no more, and it is Friday and time for the week to end. This lady whose name she gave as Norkia said she would help me. She left me on hold repeatedly and occasionally came back.

I would much rather pay twice as much not to deal with CVS Caremark. Excuses and mistakes every month. When you mail in a script they do everything possible (job security I guess) to put it through the ringer. They say they can't read the date, or the medicine looks to be spelled incorrectly or that they lost the script and will require a new one. Which they try to apologize and admit there is no excuse but it's a national corporation itself and there should be procedures in place.
Just today, the manager for issue resolution himself told me he was getting bounced back and forth and that he is working to find an answer on what to do. I spend an average of 95 minutes of phone calls each 90 day script. Enough is enough. I am very fortunate that this is medicine for myself, unlike others who have life altering medicines for their kids and have to deal with the same lack of competence. I have a degenerative spinal condition that requires class 2 meds for me to function; have been on them for years. Currently I still work but I must have these meds to work at all. My employer (a huge national company) switched to Caremark and I have had nothing but issues since - going on almost 2 years. They always claim either it's too early, or that I didn't send it correctly and many other excuses and this last go round has been the cherry on top. They again said I was too early (my last refill was filled 1/5/16 and processed 12/30/15 but it's too early until 3/15/16) - incorrect. Secondly they say they "lost" my scripts but found them and scanned them into the system. This was on 3/18/16 and I should have them in 7 or 8 days.
Then when I still didn't get them but they had processed a $175.00 payment I didn't authorize and... still no meds. Then I call and the rep couldn't even figure out how to pull me up in the system! My company has a dedicated line with Caremark that's how big a company it is and she couldn't figure out how to find me. 10 minutes later she finds me and I happened to open a letter only to find my scripts. NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED NOR IN A SECURED AREA!!! So now I'm more livid than ever and asked her what I'm supposed to do know as I'm almost out of meds and if I stop suddenly I can have a heart attack or seizures not to mention other issues and her response was to fill it locally. I cannot get these meds locally! Her response? "I'm looking at FL law and it says it's legal for the scripts to be filled locally."
I'm like are you kidding me? I never said anything about the legality. I simply said the pharmacies here in Lakeland do not carry that amount nor will they fill that amount because of the pill mill crackdowns. I've dealt with it for years and she couldn't care less and was rude as hell. I ended up hanging up on her because I was so angry. I called again after having to leave work because of the pain levels and this time went straight to a supervisor and she said that she didn't know how 3 other agents and another supervisor missed that the script was cancelled and scripts mailed back. She then tells me that it was returned because my doctor didn't write a "release date" on the script. WTH?!
NO OTHER mail order pharmacy has required he do that, and now she's telling me I have to go back to my Dr again for the 4th time to have him re-write the scripts again so I can try to fill it locally to buy time for them to process the new scripts again, and I have to pay shipping to them yet again. Oh and they sent me a bill for the scripts they returned. I am filing a complaint as are many of my co-workers to get my company to switch next year. My mom had the same issues until she switched to another mail order pharmacy but according to Caremark "controlled meds and mail order are a nightmare, we have so many escalations due to that. Since our insurance moved to Caremark for mail order, we have had nothing but issues in filling prescriptions for my husband who is a senior with heart problems and diabetes. Since his medications are life threatening if not taken regularly it is imperative we receive refills in a timely manner. Our recent experience is typical of Caremark. We called to refill an existing prescription and were told they would ship on a certain date. They never came so we called back and were told no such confirmation number existed and the rep would try to order again.
BUT the rules had changed for his diabetes medication and we had to call Medicare and get an approval number. We told them this was never required before but they said it was a new law. We called Medicare and they know nothing about this so I called my local pharmacy to ask if they knew. They said when a Dr. submits a prescription the first time, he gets a referral number from Medicare but our prescriptions were refills so that should not be necessary and we (the patient) did not do it.
So we again called Caremark and the new rep agreed but the medicine still had not been ordered to refill. So we now have a new order, a new confirmation number but no assurance the medicine is ordered. This happens every time we use the mail order and we have switched my husband's heart medicines to the local pharmacy with a much higher co pay so that he can get his medicines in a timely manner as they are keeping his alive. I have had a mess with Caremark over those medicines in the past. We have had other mail order pharmacies with our insurance and have never had this many issues and have to spend 8 hours on the phone to resolve if we are lucky.

On the written prescription in capital letters the doctor had clearly stated that ONLY brand name was to be dispensed. Upon requesting a refill for said medication, the doctor's office was contacted to get the OK to replace the medication with the generic drug. I cannot take this drug, the fillers that are used, along with the variance of the active drug make it ineffective and even dangerous for me to take. I contacted the doctor's office and they assured me that no one at their practice authorized the generic substitute.
I have made 5 phone calls to CVS mail order, each lasting about 45 minutes. In each phone call I was assured that the problem was resolved. I then received a letter yesterday advising me that I needed to get a new prescription from my physician so CVS could dispense the brand name drug. I spent 1 1/2 hours at the doctor's office trying to straighten this out. I was given a new prescription which I took to my local CVS to see if they could fill the prescription and it took the pharmacy tech 45 minutes on the phone with CVS Caremark mail order to get the approval. I have now spent another hour on the phone with CVS Caremark to cancel any mail order prescriptions I have on file, and to send a postpaid envelope to return the generic and issue a refund. Since she's been small she's been on the same name brand of seizure medication due to particular allergies and sensitivities that she has when she's forced to take the generic version or alternate form due to differences in dyes and differences in fillers. Even when she has changes in dosage, we have to be very careful. It's the same thing for her ADD medication. Every few months we're forced to go through a prior preauthorization and an exception request justifying why she needs to have the specific medications she takes and the specific brand names versus what the formularies think she ought to try. Because they think they know better than her doctor.
This child had to endure two weeks, almost three, off of her ADD medication during school time and it was a nightmare for her because Caremark couldn't get their act together, and kept telling me it would be two more weeks for the appeal to even be seen. I ended up calling irate demanding it go through sooner, and letting them know how angry I was for them thinking they could mess this way with a child's necessary medication. Well, they're doing it RIGHT NOW with her seizure medication and while I refilled it a week ahead we're down to two or three days and I'm dreading the process. SEIZURE MEDICATION. Do they think people are going to break under the pressure of waiting through the appeal process and just take the generic or whatever is on the formulary?
It's really not a matter of that when there are very good reasons behind an individual literally requiring specific medications, specific brand names even over the available generics. I don't believe my child is a special snowflake, but I don't think she ought to be punished with her ADD or anti-seizure meds every few months. There doesn't seem to be much common sense with this process. At present I don't have $500+ to get the seizure meds. That's more money than what's in my paycheck. And it's half a mortgage payment. The ADD meds were nearly $700.

Second time in a row they totally messed up my prescription. I'm on a prescription where I need to have a yearly review with my doctor and get a prior authorization, which I do faithfully every year. This last time I had it done, sent my script in, and the medication never came. I called CVS Caremark to get the status, they said it's on hold. They had no idea why, it was just on hold. Then they said, "oh, you needed a preauthorization." I said, "I got that like a month before I sent the script in." They put me on hold, checked it out, and, "Oh, yeah, I guess you did. We'll send it out." I specifically told them the address to send it to while I was on the phone just to make sure, but they sent it to the wrong address anyway. In the meantime, I'm out of the medication. It comes like a week later. This time, sent in the script 3 weeks early. Never get the medication. Look at the status, it says it's being processed.
Called again and they said they can't fill until March 1st because that's the date on the script. The doctor has to call and tell them it was a mistake and to send it out. Fine. I called my doctor, asked him to do this as I'm almost out of the meds. The doctor does just that, and still never received the meds. Call again, they apologize, but they thought the doctor said to hold it. Said they'd send it right out. Never got them. Now I'm totally out of pills. Called again. They said it's at the pharmacy but they have no idea when it will be shipped. Now, these are just ADHD meds, but when I don't take them, I'm a zombie for a week. If they were life and death drugs, I would be dead now because of the incompetency of this company! TERRIBLE COMPANY!

Doctors visit on January 27. They immediately sent in two prescriptions. Both require prior authorization which Caremark claimed they never got for 10 days. Doctors office sent it in twice. Company then came back and said they would not approve. Needed to use different medication which required the doctor to send in two new prescriptions. Then Caremark asked for authorizations for both of those. Finally one was approve but the other showed up as cancelled. Need a new prescription.
During this last month I have made at least 6-7 call to Caremark getting transferred numerous times and being given wrong information (that I had to confirm with Anthem). My doctors office has called them numerous times as well and the last time was transferred to five different people. After that call it looked like the prescription was going to be shipped (he had talked to a supervisor) and the very next day it showed up in my orders as cancelled again. I now have to call on Monday or Tuesday and I guess start this all over again. This company is a scam and somebody needs to do something about them.

NEVER NEVER NEVER USE CAREMARK CVS!!! THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY AND THEY CANNOT MANAGE YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS PROPERLY. I needed a refill on a very simple generic statin medication. I needed it for December 15th. I called in November to get the refill started because the bottle clearly said "no refills". I asked them to fax my doctor (whom I know the staff quite well). They returned the fax within 3 hours. Two weeks later, I get an automated phone call saying my doctor needs to order a 90 day supply, which was the original refill order (so unnecessary phone call). I called CVS and said they had not received any answer yet. So, I asked CVS to fax it again. My doctor's office responded immediately. One week later, still no medication. Then I get another phone call from CVS.
When I called they said the credit card they tried to use wasn't working. I politely explained that there are 2 credit cards on their system and that they needed to use the other credit card! Duhhh! By then I knew they would not get me my medication in time. I left the country after paying full price at a local pharmacy. So you would think that the medication would be waiting for me when I returned... but nooo! They never processed it. Meanwhile, my health insurance coverage changed on 1/1/16. Did they offer to re-run the medication under my new coverage??? Nooo! They just told me that they would not be able to fill the medication anymore. Actually... I am glad to be done with them!!! Now I'm getting a new prescription from my doctor (again!!!) and taking my business elsewhere!!! You should too!!! Don't trust CVS Caremark - they will mess you up!!!

I've been trying to get my prescription filled now for FIVE WEEKS. In that time, amongst other incompetence, CVS Caremark has given me THREE different phone numbers for my doctor to call to approve my medication. "As soon as she calls, we can ship you your medicine, as soon as tonight!" they say. When I call in to ask if it's approved, they say they have no record of her call, and give me another number or she'll call and they'll say the account is suspended. They say they'll call my doctor for me, or call me back with a status, and I never hear from them.
I thought I was being paranoid when I started to think they just didn't want to give me my medicine and were going to keep stonewalling me on every front, but from the other comments here, it looks like I'm not paranoid at all, this is business as usual for them. My RA was in admission but it's starting to flare again. Meanwhile, there's no end in sight as far as actually receiving my refill. I'm so disgusted, I'm going to file a complaint with the state.

This has been going on over a year and still they cannot get them. Caremark has one excuse to another. In my opinion, this is a way to save money by forcing the patient to shop local for 30 days, instead of 90 days, and pay more out of pocket. This has been proven by a copy of history and shopping for prices at other locations. They know this.

I had to switch from Walgreens to CVS Caremark due to my insurance changing. I have been trying to fill my prescription for since the beginning of December (it's not February 8th). Every time I call I am routed from one person to the next and then told somebody will call me back. Of course nobody calls back. I have a secondary insurance that picks up my copays. I have given them the information for my secondary repeatedly and instead of entering it as insurance information, they just put it in the call notes.
After a month of trying without success to fill my prescription, I contacted my secondary insurance company and they contacted CVS Caremark and gave them all my insurance information. Once again, instead of entering that information into my account they just put it in the call notes. I'm currently on hold with CVS Caremark and not being helped.

This week, I called and spoke to someone who told me that the notice saying my Dr had not answered about my refill was wrong and that they had answered and my medicine was in the mail. Today I was told that she made an error. The Dr had not answered the fax. Of course they are closed today, so I can't do anything about it and I'm running out of meds. The only apology I got was that she will be counseled. They admit she wrote that the Dr had replied. In addition, they are no longer covering Ventolin, which is the best asthma inhaler for me. No alternatives offered, nothing on their website with a list of what is covered. Their service is dreadful and their mistakes legion. I'd avoid them if it were possible.

If we want insurance to cover, we have no other choice. Recently CVS apparently changed pharmaceutical companies that produce the Metformin they sell. The new brand does not work very well, causing my blood sugars to increase significantly.
My Doctor wrote a new prescription for the name brand drug, Glucophage, but CVS Caremark will not authorize the prescription coverage because in their opinion Glucophage and Metformin are exactly the same drug and still have enough left that it doesn't qualify yet for a refill. Even though it's NOT a refill, it's a NEW prescription. I asked them how they justified over-riding my Physician's orders. Their response is that they are not over-riding what a physician says, "because it's the exact same drug."

I was getting my prescriptions at a local pharmacy until CVS Caremark refused to allow them to continue to fill my prescriptions. I called November 23rd to sort this out and was told that CVS will only allow you to fill what they consider "maintenance" prescriptions three times at another pharmacy before making you use a CVS pharmacy or their mail order service. I don't have access to a CVS pharmacy. My city doesn't have one. The nearest CVS is over 60 miles away. I don't like the idea of using a mail order service and not having access to a pharmacist but it seems I have no choice because Caremark says so. I signed up for mail order and was assured my prescription would be sent to me soon. I asked if there was anything they could do in the meantime because I am out of medication and they said no, they can't allow it to be filled at another pharmacy and there is nothing they can do.
A week went by and I had no prescription and no contact from Caremark. Three weeks went by and I didn't get my medicine. I called CVS and they said my doctor didn't respond and that they had called to tell me that. They hadn't called me and we argued about this for a while. I asked what they are going to do now because I was able to get a few samples from my doctor but they won't last forever and I need my medication. They said they can't do anything because my doctor didn't respond BUT they would allow me to fill my prescription at a local pharmacy one more time! When I had initially called they said they have no way of being able to do that. I was immediately upset because I know at one point or another someone lied to me. At the time I didn't need the refill because of the samples from my doctor and I assumed the problem would be solved by the time I ran out... WRONG.
I called my doctor's office after this conversation with CVS. My doctor's office confirmed that they had NOT been contacted by Caremark at any time! The representative at Caremark assured me they would again reach out to my doctor... I waited another two weeks and NO RESPONSE from Caremark and still no medication. I called again a week ago. They said they had reached out to my doctor again and I had already confirmed with my doctor's office that they had not reached out at any time to my doctor. They won't just fill the medication off the prescription I already have. They want a new one from the doctor but they will not do what they say they need to do in order to get my medication. During the third phone call I asked if I could get confirmation if my prescription shipped. They said no then not even a minute later said they would issue a confirmation if it shipped.
I asked why I haven't been contacted when they supposedly can't get a hold of my doctor and why when I call my doctor's office they tell me CVS has made no effort to contact them over the two months that I have been trying to get my medication. I am almost out now (4 days left) and ask them to allow me to fill it locally until the issue is resolved. They tell me they absolutely cannot do that! The call weeks ago they told me they could! I asked why one person tells they can and another tells me they can't. They had no answer. They just told me to calm down and that I was being "abusive". I at no time was "abusive". I'm sure I sounded upset, because I was. I at no time yelled at anyone, called anyone names or made any threats. I wasn't abusive. They just had no answer to my questions about why my medication isn't filled.
It's complete neglect on their part and I am sick of fighting with this company. The customer service agent "India" that I talked to even had the gall to tell me to pay for it out of pocket then proceeded to tell me to calm down when I told her if I could pay for my prescriptions out of pocket I wouldn't need to pay Caremark for my prescription coverage. I don't have another option for prescription coverage. This is the only option my husband's employer offers. So we are stuck with it. So two months after setting up mail order I have no medicine and no sign of a solution to the problem. CVS does not care. They put their profit over your (and my) medical care.
I am worried because I am getting close to running out of another medication that Caremark will deem "maintenance" and not allow a local pharmacy to fill. I have ocular hypertension and I take eye drops to keep my eye pressure in the normal range. I don't have glaucoma, but they don't know if the hypertension will damage my eyesight or not. The only way to find that out is if vision damage has already occurred and at that point it is not fixable. If I don't get this medication I can LOSE MY EYESIGHT PERMANENTLY.
The medication I currently have issues getting is to treat PCOS. If I go without the medication it wreaks havoc on my body and causes a lot of pain and suffering. My whole body goes out of whack because of hormonal imbalances, causing weight gain, mood swings, abdominal cramps and hemorrhage bleeding if I suddenly stop my medication. This is what I am heading for in 4 days when I run out... I am extremely unhappy with this level of care because there is none. Caremark doesn't care. I could suffer for months because I can't afford my medication and they wouldn't care. Because of the area I live in, I have no CVS and I am forced to use mail order and only mail order which is apparently unreliable at best. Basically I have no prescription coverage even though I pay Caremark for prescription coverage. I don't know what else to do. It's really hopeless.

Well, enter Caremark which has refused to approve my medication since November 2015 claiming a prior authorization process that includes a pregnancy test in the prior 14 days!!! They are not the standard generics as I have an allergy to the preservatives in the generic flavor of the drug (lantanoprost). Needless to say every time I ask for a refill (CVS will not allow me to do auto-renew), I get a reply that I need to contact my doctor. My doctor has already filled out a prior authorization for the drug but I have to do through this hassle every time.
Last week, I got an email alert that my refill #3 of Zioptan was due to expire and to click on the refill option. As this drug is very expensive and I have already maxed my health plans "max out of pocket" for the year, I thought that I would be able to receive this last refill at no cost. Two days later, I got an email from Caremark saying that the drug was "out of stock" and to contact my doctor. When I did contact Caremark about this, they told me the drug was being discontinued. When I contacted my doctor, I found out that the drug was not being discontinued, it was just not being made available until next year.
I believe this is a scamming way that Caremark forces people to have to pay full price for the drugs due to being a new calendar year on their health plans. I just think it's very evil and am so tired of getting nothing but uncaring reps to talk to whenever I encountered the hassle I continuing get just because I need to order a "non generic" drug.

Both drugs are used to treat constipation, but are different types of drugs and have very different reactions in the body. I have been dealing with Caremark since July of this year. The very first time that I tried to fill my daughters medication they kept telling me that they had no RX on file for her which I found out later was because they were looking under the wrong person. (Not even a member of our family on the plan, someone I had never heard of before) and they never even figured it out. My daughter's doctor's office had to call to tell me they were asking for an RX under the wrong name. Every time I get on the phone to call them I can expect to be on the phone at least 45 minutes, usually longer though. They transfer you from department to department and every person tells you that they cannot help and have to transfer you again. It's almost like some sick game they play with their members.
Since starting prescriptions with them I have had problems with them billing the insurances correctly and in a timely fashion. Even being extremely specific when ordering new medication and making sure they have all of the correct information, I.D. numbers, etc. Then they send me a bill stating I owe money. I had enrolled in a fund program to help cover the extremely high cost of her monthly medication. And now because they failed to properly bill them the program has lapsed because the fund requires it is billed at least every 3 months. Now I'm left paying $1100.00 per month for medications that should have been covered by that program.

Like many others I have problems filling my prescriptions EVERY single time I have to use Caremark RX. We must get our RX from them due to the fact that it is an injectable and it takes 2 or more month of going back and forth for them to finally fill the medications. We (my husband) and I have had to go to the doctor for shots because Caremark makes claims that they are shipping the medication and every time we call to find out where it is there is another excuse as to why we haven't received it. Last time it was because they didn't have the correct size needles. We told them twice just send the medication and we will get the needles from our local pharmacy and they said "ok we are shipping today." Another few weeks later the same story and we say "We TOLD you to just ship the medicine that we NEED!" Again sure no problem only to have to call again.
The last incident was when our doctor called in the refill early November and Caremark claimed they needed a form filled out with his personal signature which he complied with on the 19th. We called again on the 25th and they couldn't find the paperwork. We called the doctors office and sure enough they had the fax with a confirmation that it was sent on the 19th. Nevertheless they sent it again while we were on hold with Caremark. The representative finally came back on the line indicating she had the paperwork from the 19th. I let her know that the doctor office was on the other line and was sending it again and that we needed the medication filled prior to the end of November because our plan starts over in December and we had already met our out of pocket maximum. She assured me she was working on it as we were speaking and would call me back.
She never called back and we had Thanksgiving holidays then the following Monday I was in surgery all day. We called back on the 1st of December and was told the doctor had sent the wrong paperwork on the 19 but has sent different paperwork on the 25 and they didn't have time to process it so they would do it now on the 1st costing us 100% now that our plan year has started over. We asked to talk to a supervisor and she was rude trying to explain things to us like we were stupid and just didn't understand they process they must go thru.
I asked if I was talking to a supervisor and she said yes. I told her the paperworks from the 19th and 25th was the same exact paperwork and what about the CSR assuring me she would fill it right then or call if any problems arose. She had no answer but said she would get back with me. I asked her name Britney ** and she said her title was PSR which doesn't sound like a supervisor to me as she had represented herself. What can we do about companies like this who are basically scamming their clients? I'm looking online and there are very similar complaints. Caremark has almost 600 complaints. Twice within 24 hours, with two separate drugs and doctors' offices, I had the same experience with Caremark Online: Insistence that a refill had not been authorized when the doctors' offices insisted that they had. In the first case, this dragged on for almost two months. When, finally, on Nov. 30th, someone from my first doctor's office finally got a human being on the telephone, Caremark's representative had changed its story: Authorization had been received and the drug sent out--and signed for. First, I had not received the drug; second, not once in the years of using Caremark had I ever had to sign for a delivery. That last was pure fabrication.
When the doctor's assistant relayed this version to me, I suggested that Caremark was mixing up two orders for the same drug, one in solution form and the other an ointment. I had received the solution; it was the ointment I was struggling to get. Another call to Caremark, and when the person there looked with a bit more "care", that's exactly the error Caremark had made.
Then the same day, Nov. 30th, Caremark sent me an email saying another drug, one I had ordered that day, could not be filled because "the prescriber had denied authorization. I phoned Caremark to ask which drug they were referring to because as usual the information I was given was the last four digits of a prescription number. (That privacy protection policy is not worth the headaches it causes. While every day yet another large company has to admit to being hacked, how many patients know their drugs by the last four digits of prescription number?)
Caremark's representative said they had messaged asking for authorization and had received no response. Their email had come within hours of my placing the order. How much time is Caremark giving doctor's office to response. And anyway, is a lack of response a "denial"? Only to Caremark. I called my doctor's office, spoke to his assistant, who said quite certainly that she had sent the authorization the same day. I called Caremark again. No, no authorization. In essence, Caremark's so-called Customer Service's response was: "Tell her to do it again." In short, it's always the doctor's office's fault, never ours.
Getting drug orders filled should not be this difficult, should not involve multiple calls back and forth. I know my doctors, I know their offices and I have confidence in them. I have none in Caremark, because all my interactions with them are at best bureaucratic, at worst completely unhelpful, as in the two instances described above.

CVS Caremark quoted me a price for a new expensive prescription. When I received the prescription I had been charged a much higher amount. When I called, they said they DO NOT give quotes, only estimates. When I received my "ESTIMATE", I send a note with my prescription to call me if the price exceeded $135, the estimate price. They also said an agent of theirs talked to me and I approved the price. The notes in my file say I only had a small amount left and needed the drug. That is BS as this is a new drug I had never taken before. Obviously their agents lie. I just want the difference refunded to me. They too bad.

I have a very serious intestinal problem. My surgeon prescribed Amitiza. After a month or two, Caremark sent me a message saying, "did you know Linzess is a less expensive option?" and telling me my doctor would need to write a letter if he thought I should remain on Amitiza. My physician sent the letter stating that he, as the doctor, knew about all medications, and that the two drugs worked differently. He stressed that I should stay on Amitiza.
Now, after about a year, Caremark has sent me a letter stating that I had "incorrectly been paying a lower co-pay for Amitiza", and going forward I would be charged the "correct" co-pay of $220 for 90 days. It infuriates me that non-physicians tell me what medication I should take, and when my physician disagrees, Caremark just raises the co-pay to price it out of my ability to pay. And their customer service when I call is awful. No one can seem to find any information about my drugs, although I am responding to a LETTER THEY SENT. No one knows what the co-pay has been or should be, and then I'm put on hold and "accidentally" disconnected. The company had asked for my phone number, but never used it to call me back. I work for a large company and will make recommendation that we drop Caremark, as they are an unsatisfactory and unscrupulous service provider.

I have been ordering from Caremark for years without a hitch, until this year. From the start of this year every time I call in my order it is one ordeal after another. Each person I spoke with claimed it was a computer glitch and or something on the pharmacy end of things. For my refill, there is to be 3 months prescriptions and it rarely got shipped correct, sometimes with one and others with two months' worth. The pharmacist would punch it in the computer as three and the computer would spit it out as one or two.
Numerous times being assured the problem was fixed and it shouldn't be an issue anymore, yet the next time I call it's the same thing plus having sit on the phone typically 45 minutes! Though the reps are friendly on the phone and seem understanding about the problem but why is it still not being rectified??? If I had another option for my prescription plan from my workplace I would've switched many months ago. What happened to this company? I think they need to definitely hire staff to fix this "computer issue". Otherwise there will be a lot more upset customers and more business lost due to little to no resolve.

The policy allows to only purchase for a 30 day or a 90 day period. How do I get to know what the policy allows when I just purchased the policy (I did not even receive the papers then)? I explain my doctor does not have that information. He just called or faxed in the script. One month later and on the phone again with the same problem. After another hour on the phone the rep tells me he will put a flag on the WC account that they need to submit it to the normal account.
I ask why they just couldn't move the script to the correct account now. After much discussion about needing to talk to a supervisor they finally agree to move the scripts to the correct account. I have been taking a low dose generic metoprolol for nearly 10 years - primarily through Caremark and my blood pressure was excellent and very stable. Recently, I received a refill through Caremark supplied by Dr. Reddy's and within 10 days my blood pressure was suddenly much higher. My doctor prescribed the "Brand only". I was given a very difficult time trying to get this approved through Caremark. One customer service representative (after I had explained it was likely a bad batch of drug) told me that the pharmacy is not responsible for the drugs they supply -- it is the doctor's prescription that they follow. Another rep told me they can't be responsible for how my body reacts to a drug they provide. I was appalled at the lack of understanding by the service representatives.
After a number of calls, I was finally able to get hold of one pharmacist who fixed the problem immediately. Shame on me for not asking for the pharmacist earlier. Upon taking the branded drug my blood pressure went back to its good normal level within 7 days. The point is, that the pharmacy sources the generics and they do have some obligation -- Dr. Reddy's has had numerous recalls for metoprolol. The customer service individuals should be trained in the responsibilities of the pharmacy and be tuned in to these kind of issues, rather than just blindly reading a script that is incorrect. Once my insurance changes at the beginning of the year, I'll find another mail order pharmacy.

Unfortunately all has gone downhill recently. I take a medicine which is a scheduled II drug, so I have to send in my prescription and info every time I do a refill. So 2 weeks ago, I noticed I was running low on pills. I did what I normally do, call my doctor to get the prescription then mail it to CVS Caremark. After five days I received a text saying they received the prescription. This made me think everything was going as normal. But NOPE!
I was getting nervous as my medication was getting close to running out, so I went online to check the status of everything. I logged in, and was infuriated to see that my prescription had been canceled! Why? The stated reason was because they didn't have the medication. I was so mad due to the fact that I got no notification through text or call telling me this was the case! Thank god I checked online! Anyways, I called them and was basically given to a lady who seemed as confused as I did. She told me the pharmacy said I sent in a copy prescription! I mentioned how it wasn't a copy and that it was straight from my doctor. I told her I have been sending the prescription my doctor has given me and everything has been fine until now.
After a long time of talking and being on hold, I was told to contact my doctor because there is nothing they can do. I contacted my doctor, explaining my situation and they had no clue what was going on. Being stressed and only having two pills left, I decided to just do 30 day, Walgreens pick up rather than mail order. This method cost me much more than mail service but I had no other choice. Thanks to CVS Caremark! What a terrible service they are! It's bad enough to not notify your customer of an out of stock medication but to just straight up say "we can't help you" is absurd. My 3 year old daughter has chronic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). We have struggled since she was weeks old to get her on a protocol that gets her painful reflux under control. Prevacid (Lansoprazole) was a miracle cure. Since she was a year old she received the compounded Prevacid in the liquid formulation. On July 20th I received a letter dated July 15, 2015 stating that our compounded medicine would no longer be covered effective July 1, 2015. She was due for a refill in a few days and suddenly we get this letter that the change was effective weeks ago! Without insurance I was told this monthly prescription would cost us $445! I called our doctor for a backup plan. We were informed that there are Prevacid solutabs that dissolve in her mouth and are strawberry flavored.
We had the Prevacid solutab prescription called into our pharmacy. CVS Caremark insurance denied coverage on this prescription. The out of pocket price for Prevacid Solutabs ranges from $360 to $450 depending on which Pharmacy you go to. I spent a lot of my time and pharmacist's time calling a dozen pharmacies to look for the best pricing. This medication is medically necessary for my daughter to control her reflux. We have tried other medications including Prilosec, Zantac and others. They either did not work or had intolerable side effects. My daughter needs Lansoprazole in some format to control her reflux. CVS Caremark offers no formulation of this drug available for pediatrics. I should also mention that we have her diet very restricted. We have eliminated all foods that trigger reflux.
On the CVS Caremark website it lists Prevacid as a covered drug with Prior Authorization for medical necessity. We had a prior authorization processed by our doctor’s office. It was denied. We received a letter stating our right appeal. We also appealed. The appeal contained important chart notes from our doctor regarding prior reactions to Prilosec, ineffectiveness of Zantac and dysphagia and well as texture issues that would prevent her from taking something like Nexium granules. The appeal was faxed and denied within minutes of receipt. The appeal was pages of doctor’s notes. Who reviewed this appeal? I doubt a medical professional, doctor or nurse practitioner completed the review. I suspect a decision about what is medically necessary for our child was made by someone with zero medical background.
We will continue to appeal this decision to get this drug covered. I will also be filing a complaint with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Insurance, as well as contacting my local news stations. I am organizing all of my information now to take those actions. I am learning that many families are being denied coverage for things like prescription formulas that are sometimes $70 or more a canister. There are more denials that payouts for basic medical and food necessities. Anyone who has had a child with GI problems knows that you can go through 10-15 formula and medicine options before finding one that works for your child.
In our instance I feel this is of the utmost importance, for the long term well-being of my child. Untreated GERD can result in esophageal erosion, and other more serious medical problems. We will continue to fight this. CVS Caremark is making dangerous denials not based on medical evidence. I feel that our one instance is one of many and I hope that there is some basis for a class action suit or some sort of larger action than our single denial, appeal and hopefully someday and approval.

I went to see my doctor and she renewed my medications and faxed the Rx to Caremark. My account is clearly marked no shipment is to be made unless I call and request it. Well a shipment of medication arrived that I did not order. I called Caremark and after much back and forth I finally got them to send me a return pouch for the medication. I received the pouch packed the medication drove it to the Post Office and received a receipt for the shipment. Since there was a tracking number provided I tracked the shipment and received a proof of delivery.. I called Caremark to advise them the shipment had been received, the customer service person advised credit would be issued that day, so I called that evening and another customer service person told me it takes three (3) business days for the credit to appear. I called three (3) days later and was now advised it takes three (3) weeks for the credit to appear.
So typical of Caremark you never get straight answer. While I was on the telephone on 7/27/15 I ordered several refill medications, the person told me the price for the medications and advised that it could change upon filling. I advised the CS agent that there was a pending return on my account and inquired if that would effect this shipment, she advised she would put a notation on my account and everything should be fine. I issued an e-check for the amount quoted and also as I always state, Caremark can not withdraw any additional funds from my account without my verbal authorization, and figured that was the end of that. Then as usual I started received mechanical telephone messages from Caremark that there were problems with my order. I called each day after receiving the message only to hear different stories each day.
On 8/5/15 I called and was informed that one of the medications was too soon to fill. I inquired why was I not informed at the time of placing the order of this? The girl was snippy so I asked to escalate to a manager. I was connected to a Senior Resolution Specialist who informed me they had no record of my e-check, and I inquired why was I not informed on the too soon status, she did not know, I explained that the CS agents at Caremark are poorly trained and often lie with they don't have an answer. She managed to override the too soon refill and advised it would ship overnight at no charge to me. At that point I advised that I again wanted to escalate my problems to a manager, shortly thereafter I was contacted by an Executive Resolution Specialist. It was obvious she did not research my situation but blindly called me, and was flipping through notes on the account trying to in her words "piece together the situation."
She began to explain all the mechanics to Caremark goes through to fill an order, I advised I don't want to know their mechanics I want my medication period. She advised all the tape recorded calls would be reviewed from training and coaching. She checked on my order that was shipping overnight and made sure I was not charged for the expedited shipping, the shipment arrived the next day and I was charged for shipping. The balance of my order arrived the following day and I was not charged shipping. I checked my checking account balance and on 8/4/15 Caremark had debited my account for $20.00 without my authorization after advising me on 8/5/15 that there was no e-check on file.
I have called the Executive Representative several times and always get voicemail, I have left specific questions, she returns my calls does not provide any answers only states her name, her title and her return telephone number. From the reviews I have read online for Caremark something needs to be done to protect consumers from this company either at the State or Federal level.

When I moved from California to Nevada, new plan: the Anthem PERSCare in Nevada decided I no longer met the criteria for Orencia, denied my request for a refill that was good until 2016 on PERSCare, CA. Rather than fight the uphill battle to get the medication through filing appeals and grievance, I went to see a new rheumatologist in Nevada who prescribed Enbrel since that seemed to fit the criteria for Nevada PERSCare. On July 14 Dr. ** wrote a prescription for Enbrel. I have been told by the doctor's office that the prior authorization was completed and approved. I have been calling nearly daily to find out what the problem is in getting the RX filled.
I have been told by CVS Caremark Specialty the following: The prior aux. was approved but sent to the wrong department. Can you get it from that department? No, we don't do that (even though it is the same company?). My doctor's office has faxed the Rx to three different parts of Caremark. Apparently it went to mail order and should have gone to Specialty. "Can someone forward it? We need to hear from your doctor." At this point my doctor's office has faxed the Rx three different times! "We have additional questions for the doctor and only the doctor can answer them." Apparently, there is no one at CVS Caremark Specialty who can step in and try to get this coordinated. I never talk to the same person twice.
On 6/29/15, when CalPERS Anthem decided I could not continue on the Orencia, although I had a prescription that had been approved through 2016 in CA from PERSCare, I finally called a customer care rep. who was able to get them to give me 4 weeks of Orencia until I could see a rheum and get a new prescription meeting the new PERSCare NV guidelines. I got the final bridge prescription for the Orencia at the end of June, however, I had spent so much time on-hold, trying to get any medication, that I was charged $200.00 dollars for going over my minutes on my cell phone plan!!!
Although I never filed an appeal or grievance on the denial of the Orencia, I was sent several determinations including a notice of external review determination dated 7/2/15 (???), stating I could not get the Orencia on my new health plan. I saw Dr. Susan **, a rheumatologist, on 7/14. She prescribed Enbrel. I called CVS Caremark Specialty pharmacy to attempt to arrange shipment of the Enbrel or at least to get the status of the new prescription for Enbrel. At no time did I get the same person twice, also, I was given conflicting and inaccurate information. They kept blaming the doctor's office, instead of contacting the doctor to get what they needed.
On 8/3/15, after spending from 8 am to 4:37 pm on the phone and on hold with CVS Caremark Specialty and my doctor's office staff - including a three-way call between an Anthem customer service rep. and CVS Specialty and the doctor's office - I was told nothing more could be done today because the Specialty staff had all gone home!!!
On 8/4/15 I received a call from Express Scripts wanting to schedule my Enbrel delivery. This was the second time they had called. If I had accepted the shipment, I would be on the hook for the entire prescription cost. I was told at one point by CVS Caremark that they could not fill my prescription because it had been approved by Accredo (who is Accredo?).
My doctor's office had inadvertently faxed the first prescription to the wrong phone number. However, that is fixable. CVS was subsequently sent the prescription for Enbrel to the right Specialty pharmacy phone number. In fact my doctor's office had submitted and received prior authorization through my insurance and sent to CVS at least four times. I know they got the prior aux. because the staff at the doctor's office read the letter to me over the phone. Oh, and the doctor's office had received the prior aux. on 7/17/15, so... So...even though there was a prior aux., CVS just kept saying they were still waiting for the prior aux. Also, on two occasions they CVS told me they did not have a prescription, say what??? This is after saying they are waiting for the prior aux.
On 8/4/15 at 8:31 am, I got a call from CVS Specialty to arrange for my shipment of Orencia???!!! I explained that Orencia had been denied in no uncertain terms, up to and including an appeal and external review that I had not participated in and which I had not requested. (To be honest it seems as if the insurance company was moving post-haste to make sure I would not be able to win an appeal if I had in fact decided to request one.) The rep. said, "Oh, meant your Enbrel. Let me see if it goes through." It went through! Do I want to schedule the shipment? Yes I do. However, please tell me what magic took place between 4:37 last night and 8:31 this morning that CVS now considers it authorized? Well, your doctor's office called this morning and gave us a verbal (why accept it now, when they would not before?)
QUESTION: Why was I put through this ordeal in the first place? I used to be a fraud investigator for an insurance company in California. (Ironic I know.) My first inkling would be to follow the money and find out who benefits from running patients through all kinds of hoops before finally deciding the patient will not give up and go away. Believe me, if I could get by without treatment for autoimmune disease, I would! How many patients have neither the time nor the energy, need I say good health, to get through this arduous system? Never got the same person at CVS on the phone twice. The doctor's office and I were expected to do all the push ups. I noticed there are over 511 customer service complaints on www.consumeraffairs.com, you may want to read them. Believe me, my complaint will seem totally redundant after you do.

It seems that getting a proper voicemail after 3 months of dealing with them is still some sort of a baffle to their customer service department. Apparently not dealing with them at all, even though they have CVS listed in their name, has nothing to do with their retail stores either which are more than extremely helpful. Aetna and other insurance companies don't understand how much of a huge inconvenience these CVS Specialty idiots are to normal folks. I have yet to hear of anyone having any good interaction with CVS Specialty. Their phone numbers are just looped. The different depts. don't communicate with each other and it seems like they love to make people's lives miserable on the phone. Never heard customer service be so confrontational before.

I am a mother of a diabetic child & am forced to order my products from CVS Caremark. Which I have to say has the WORST service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately I am at their mercy to get his supplies from as my husband's employer has a "Diabetic Kit" program so we only pay one co-pay when we order many items at one time. I placed an order end of June & received most of it in July. When I called looking for his test strips they told me that I had cancelled that part of the order! I never did. Why would I do that when at the time I placed my order I told the rep that we were almost out of test strips. Which I did run out of strips after waiting for them to come in the mail. None of the CVS Caremark reps could tell me why they were not being shipped to me. Finally we received the test strips after waiting almost 2 wks for them to ship.
Several weeks after I had all the items in my order a single small box was at my door. I opened it to find 2 Glucagon's in the box. I did not order this item. I just received it in the order I got a few weeks back. I called & spoke to a rep (of course of all the times I call I didn't write down their name) I was told at that time that I would be mailed a return label & when I got it I could send the item back & after that they would credit the $150.00 they had charged to my card. A week or more has now passed & I still have not received their return label, so I called again & now being told entirely different story.
Now I'm told that it was reviewed by an account manager & they are not paying for the shipping & they won't allow me to return this item that I didn't order & therefore won't return my $150.00 to my Visa. This company is such a scam!!!! They charged my Visa on the previous order over $980.00 when my co-pay should have been $150.00. I will NEVER order from this company again!!!!

I just got off the phone with the pharmacy. I called to order a refill and was told for the second time that my prescription had expired and they would have to get a new one from my doctor. Had I been made aware of that before today, I could have gone to the doctor and taken care of it so there would be no delay in getting my medicine, But I guess a national pharmacy can't afford to have someone call their customers and let them know things ahead of time. That would cost about $8 an hour to hire someone to do just that. And considering that my medication costs about $3400 a month, I don't see the problem with that.

I have been trying to deal with CVS Caremark mail order since Wellcare switched to them at the beginning of 2015. I take 10 different medications prescribed by 2 different doctors and have yet to get a prescription filled without a minimum of 3 phone calls and weeks and weeks of delays. I fell into the 'donut hole' early in the year as my meds are expensive and these folks can't seem to get anything right even after multiple lengthy phone calls on every order.
Their automated phone system takes my member # and birthdate then tells me to call back and provides a number. It doesn't tell me why they are calling or provide me a reference number so I can address a particular issue with them. Therefore when I call back their automated system ask me again for my member # and whether I want to order a prescription or check on a prescription. Logically I choose check on a prescription since they called me. Then they ask for a prescription #. How the heck would I know which of my prescriptions they are calling on? When I get a representative most of the time the problem is a high co-pay amount I must authorize them to charge on my already provided credit card. They put me on hold to get the payment approved and tell me it will process. 7 to 10 days later, no meds. Not once year to date has this worked the first or even the second time.
I call back, and begin the circus over again. By now the order has been cancelled and they want my doctor to re-submit. On one of my prescriptions my doctor's office submitted it 3 different times. (God Bless them for their patience). I am an insulin dependent diabetic and have been trying since July 5th to get one of my medications. I am on my last vile and just hung up from my third representative who assures me my order has been approved to charge on my credit card and will process to their 'pharmacy' within 2 days. I'll sign on to my account via the web site (which is also pretty much useless) on Monday and call them back on Tuesday. This is pure insanity (Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results) but what choice do I have??

I called Caremark "customer service" in Phoenix 7 times trying to get them to give my doctor the information she needed to get prior authorization for a medication. I got different answers from different representatives about the process and, after 5 days, was told they would call my doctor's office and the pharmacy and call me back. I never heard from them again. I finally talked directly to my pharmacist who was very clear about the process and contradicted everything I'd been told by the call center in Phoenix. The people at this call center are poorly trained, don't understand the process itself, if there is one, and don't have the information they need to do their job.
My prescription card has CMS, Caremark and Blue cross on it. It appears to be a conglomeration of inept, bureaucratic incompetents who have no regard for customer service, not to even mention the health of the people they serve. It is a terrible program and the companies that have switched to it to save money are apparently greedy, self-serving corporations who only look at how to increase their bottom line with no regard for the people who work for them.

I had a heart transplant and need my anti-rejection medication delivered on time. I order it to be delivered to my local CVS pharmacy. I was told both prescriptions would ship on July 15th. I had a visit to my doctor on the morning of 20th. They reduced one of my medications. I would need a smaller mg pill because I can't cut them. The doc said because I just paid for them to go ahead and continue on the higher dose for now and change in three months. When I arrived home that afternoon received a call saying my meds would not ship until the 21st. I said hold the one that is changing and I'll have the doctor send a new script. The doctors sent the new script right away. I had to pick up a new med that evening at the local CVS and they had both of the meds from the Caremark specialty pharmacy. I checked them and one that was changing was incorrect. The CVS "system" would not let me pick up the one I need.
I called the next day and told them of the error. They said that would take care of it with the local CVS (I'll see about that one!). They said they have the new reduced script for my med and will ship it so I have it before I run out on the 24th. I asked for a call to let me know when it ships. The said "we don't do that." I again explained that they didn't ship when they said they would on the 15th and never told me until the 21st. They said the local CVS will call when they have it. At this point, I going to see the pharmacist in charge at my local CVS who is GREAT and see if she can help me. I'm sure that she will.
It is a really sad commentary on CVS as a corporation that the local CVS can have such GREAT staff and the mail order such HORRIBLE staff. I'm going to call my case manager at my insurer and see if they can get me an exemption to get my meds locally. I never even saved any money by using the mail order. Don't' use them if you can avoid them!

To say that this company is a mickey mouse company with goofy as its ceo would be an insult to the worst company that has ever existed in time and on the face of this earth. I am appalled that I must give it a one star rating, because rating it at one star is an insult to the rest of the business who are rated one star. This company is far below a one star rating and should be rated a -100 on a one to ten rating.
Several years ago I called CVS Caremark and asked them to never send me any info or to never fill any of my prescriptions again. About 4 months ago, I received a letter stating they were unable to fill a prescription at this time. I called them and was told the prescription was on hold and they would be sending it out in a few days. I told them not to send it. I found out from my doctor's office that they had called them and told them that they were now my provider for prescriptions. I addressed this issue with them and of course they denied it. They sent the prescription anyway. When I received the prescription, I called and was told to live it with, to pay the bill or they would take me to collections. After I became a nasty yelling jerk, and after being transferred to several people, I was told that I could return the prescription.
Today I received another bill, after the product was returned. Spent an hour and half on the phone speaking to half a dozen people and was told today that they will deal with it when it is convenient for their system to allow them to deal with it. I am convinced that one of the requirements for employment at CVS Caremark is that you can lie to people and your conscience allows you to sleep at night. WARNING: BUYER BEWARE - GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR PRESCRIPTION NEEDS!

This year my company changed their insurance plan so that any medication deemed maintenance had to be filled through CVS - pharmacy or mail order and it must be a 90-day supply. I will not do mail order as I don't want drugs sitting in my mailbox. When I questioned the new policy and stated I preferred not to have a 90-day supply I was told it would be cheaper. When I inquired on the price it was actually more; the customer service rep told me they "rounded up." Seriously! I explained to Caremark that I was seeing a new doctor who may well change my prescription. They would not budge and insisted I get the 90-day supply.
I gave up and put in my refill, only to find they did not have a 90-day supply; it had to be ordered. I came in on the day the order was to arrive only to be told it had not come in, but I could come back the next day. I travel for work and was on a plane the next day, so that option didn't work and I was out of medication already. There was no CVS pharmacy in the area that had the medication in stock! They "allowed" me to pay for a 90-day supply and let me take 30 days with the understanding I would pick up the remaining 60 days later. When I saw the doctor, as I expected, we agreed the medication could be discontinued. I am now out for the cost of the 60-day supply - CVS will not take returns.
I started this battle again today being informed that my one remaining prescription now fell into the category of maintenance, forcing me back into the Caremark plan. As expected, CVS did not have the 90-day supply in stock, so we are again waiting. Second time I am out of medication. I fundamentally do not understand why their pharmacies do not stock a 90-day supply of medication they deem maintenance. Actually I think I do understand. They want you to use their mail-order service, which based on the complaints I've read is worse than dealing with the pharmacy people. Calling Caremark gets you nowhere. They tell me they are powerless to do an override or exception and that I need to discuss this with my benefits people, but our plan is managed by an outside company whose customer service is just as bad as Caremark.
They also claim they are powerless to do anything, but I can fax an override request in (note from my doctor). There is no option to talk to a human. I have selected the best plan my company offers in hopes of having some flexibility and freedom to fill a prescription in a way that is convenient and economical for me. Now that is no longer an option. Who would have thought it would require so much time and effort to simply refill a prescription. If they are trying to cut costs, denying people required medication is not going to do the trick.

When we first started with this company in 2013 they were a champ but as the years go by the service gets worse and worse. If you give them your credit card number they will send you medication every 90 days without fail even if you do not need it. So a long story short they will oversend medication. We took the privilege of having the credit card number and now order when we need the medication. Now another problem arises as they drag their feet when sending an order now. Now the medication runs out and have to get a short term order put in. They never want to return your call even though they promise they will. Really poor customer service with this company. If everyone took their business elsewhere they (CVS) would close or be forced to change their customer service policies.

Almost every single time I need a refill there is some issue that prevents successfully receiving an item and there is always a different excuse. I have never had this problem with any other company; for example, Express Scripts which was our previous provider's pharmacy was not a problem. Honestly, this company should be sanctioned and/or out of business. They are the worst.

Texas State Retirement System, who is the guardianship over healthcare service in the state of Texas for Teachers decided to switch us last year. It was effective 9-1-14. I have no choice when it comes to specialized prescriptions. And have opted to use Target when I have my normal everyday scripts filled. However, just found out that CVS Caremark is buying Target's Pharmacy. It's a shame too... Target has always employed the best of the best who actually care while CVS Caremark seems to hire anyone they can find on the streets. They don't properly train anyone... I have called numerous times to ask specific questions, and can manage to get a different answer every time I speak to someone different. It took months of constant calling to finally find someone who knew the billing system. And that was their corporate office. Who did nothing to fix their pharmacy.
Here is what I have been through specifically. I was approved for my Botox through my health insurance... placed my Botox order right after the first of Sept. CVS repeatedly filed the paper work incorrectly for two straight months. Which made it so I didn't finally get my treatment until the end of November. I had my doctor's office calling, my insurance calling, in addition to my constant calls. My migraines returned and were way stronger than prior to my first Botox treatment. This caused the new school year to by horrible for the first two months... I kept getting two to three migraines a day. And CVS cared nada about my health. They wanted their money first... after finally fixing their paperwork errors. I gave them my CC number. It took another two weeks for my meds I reach my doctors office and immediately after I received collection notice after collection notice... stating I was a dead beat. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Since then... they have repeatedly screwed up my Botox deliveries and made working with them near impossible. I have learned to start really early... and hopefully my meds will get there at the three month mark. So I can get my injections from my doc. This last time... I spoke to someone, got a delivery date and did my end of the job. Did they ship??? Nope. They instead kept calling me to tell me I didn't confirm. Nice... how can I have a delivery date without confirming???? My newest med I have to get is a shot for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. That was also ever so fun to set up. And the best part is... they told me I didn't have an account and asked if I was sure my Botox came from them... when I told them that funny, I get my Botox from you so how do I not have an account???
Found out it's a totally different department and no one communicate between them two. So two different billing offices??? That's not confusing at all??? No wonder they are horrible at actually providing meds people need daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. They have so many different departments that just push paper around. Hang up on you. Refuse you to speak with a supervisor. Complain. Order your meds. Confirm your meds. They are horrible!!!!!!!!!!
Why are they even allowed to be in business and force people to use them?????? Has out healthcare become this horrendous???? Or is it only CVS Caremark???? I'm going with its only them... and now they are working towards taking away my Target Pharmacy???? Which means... I now have to find someone else??? There is no way I will continue to shop at Target of they sell... I can't afford to. They will deny everything and my dear pharmacists will try to fix the issue... but will be faced with a giant brick wall instead. Please call Target and tell them what your experiences are with CVS Caremark... otherwise they ruin an amazing Pharmacy Team Nationwide.

I would give less than half a star if I could. I will start with general complaints then get into specifics. They are slower than my experience with other mail order pharmacies to mail your prescription. They frequently remove prescriptions from online when refills remain. The payment options are not as consumer friendly as others. The rx online history is inaccurate and site is not user friendly. Customer service is not knowledgeable and seems to have limited responsibilities as they constantly say "I have to contact our senior staff on that" with the tiniest of questions or requests. They have told me an explanation for why I received a letter in the mail that said "call to refill this prescription you already requested" (yes snail mail rather than a phone call while you are waiting on an rx) was because the medicine was out of stock and rather than call me to transfer to another pharmacy or see if I'd like to wait, they returned it to the dr.
Well I called the dr. and they said they didn't send in a rx in the first place. They also told me on another occasion that the reason they mailed a medication other than the med I initiated online and agreed to pay for was due to the dr. saying I had to start taking this new medication when really Caremark told the dr. I could only use this new medicine and not my old one. I happened to be pregnant at the time and the new medicine had horrible effects on the fetuses when studied in gestating animals. After many calls to managers, numerous methods of complaints, and wasted hours of my time and stress on my pregnant body, they still refused to allow me to return this never to be used medicine that I never authorized to be ordered. They demanded I pay the $150 co-pay or they would send to a collection agency.
Why would I be responsible for a medicine I didn't order and never agreed to? If I were to use a local pharmacy, I would never have to pay for an rx if one was phoned in by error. Any time you call, expect a long call with little results from a person that seems to know nothing about their employer and does not care about the patient at all. Not customer oriented. I recommend to my benefits department to switch to Medco or Express Scripts every time my employer sends a survey to the employees. I hope one day they listen. So, I recommend to anyone reading, just use your local pharmacy and avoid the stress.

Wal-Mart said that if I really wanted the medicine that I would have to pay over $200. I called Caremark. They said I couldn't renew until July 6, a full week after my current inhaler would run out of doses. I called my doctor. They said, according to Caremark, that I couldn't renew until August.
I called Caremark and was told again, that I couldn't renew until July 6. I called again and spoke with someone else and they said that I had to get my doctor to approve a 90 day supply and that I needed to call Wal-Mart and have the medicine sent by mail. After being told the malarkey of how great CVS was at pharmacy benefits and its dedication to assisting employees, I quickly realized their bottom line is money. CVS Caremark denied a commonly prescribed medication stating it required prior authorization. In their "process" (which was a thinly veiled attempt to screw me and save money) they wanted me to try alternate medications that did not work for me in the past.
How dare a physician's assistant or nurse believe and act as though they know more than my doctor of four years. How dare CVS Caremark belittle my medical condition in this process. You would think a pharmacy benefits company would at least treat their employees better. CVS Caremark cares only about money and nothing else. Terms like integrity, honesty, sincerity, responsibility, moral and even caring mean absolutely nothing to these people.

Called doctor to tell them to send the prescription to CVS/Caremark. Contacted CVS and they claimed the Dr messed up and didn't send the Rx. I called the doctor and they said that yes the script was sent. Third problem--run around. So I contacted the doctor again to get them to send another prescription to the local pharmacy. I then contacted CVS to let them that I didn't need it that month, only to be told that "oh we found it," but by this time I had already had the refill in hand from my local pharmacy.
Fourth problem--lost in the mail. Then when the first refill was sent via mail...it got lost. I had one day left when the prescription was due to arrive. It took 7 days to go 60 miles--this normally takes one day for most deliveries. I had to go back to the local pharmacy and pick up another refill. It was very convenient that I had a spare prescription and was able to go to the local pharmacy to cover the week that I would have been without due to the inconvenient delay caused by CVS/Caremark shipping. Fifth problem--expense. I have spent about 10 hours of personal time and at my rate of pay, it will take over three years to save what this plan has cost me.

I had ordered an Androgel 3 weeks ago and it was denied. CVS/Caremark told my DR to pick another. We did. That was denied also. Then they said I needed a PA. It was sent again, denied. My pharmacist and Dr. were both told something different. Then I called and I was told something different completely. Called back for more information and told now something completely different again. They were very polite explaining to me that they had no idea what they were doing. Now we are going almost a month w/o a medication I have used for 4 years.
I and everybody involved have no idea what to do to get this resolved. One year ago I transferred all mail order RX to them. Sometimes they come other times they don't. I now don't have everything every 90 days. Every week it seems I am running out of something I arguing on the phone with them. I am now in the process of hiring a medical advocate to keep these fools in check. If they can straighten this out it will be well worth the cost, or just pay a little more and go to Canada.

Was told it would be processed that day, June 5 2015. Paid for 2-day service, was told I would receive it by Tuesday. Tuesday I got your robocall asking my permission for you to ship it. Today UPS tried to deliver while I was not home. Said on attempted delivery, "shipper requires signature". How moronic are you? I am out of a daily med and you send it, late and in the least effective way possible. I will be seeking other insurance, one that doesn't use CVS Caremark.

My prescription drug coverage gives me a 90-day supply of medications per co-pay. I have been on the same asthma medicine for YEARS which includes one called Symbicort. If I don't refill my prescriptions within a 6 month period, then they claim they only have to provide me with 30 days for the same co-pay for two cycles. The problem is, I've never missed a dose. The inhalers come two or three at a time and each inhaler gives me 2 months worth of medicine. I explained that I got three inhalers last time, that it was enough to provide me with six months worth of medicine and that THAT was the reason for the lapse, and they still refused to provide me with the 90 day supply they are required to supply. They claim it is akin to a "do over" and I have to go through the introductory period again.
Please note that my Singulair generic tablets, on the same prescription, and with a face value of $12, has been filled regularly with no issues. But Symicort is $290 an inhaler, so my doctor's office has to "confirm" the prescription every time I refill it, IN ADDITION to the runaround I already receive. I PRAY my union switches back to the old provider next contract. CVS was a nightmare the first time we had them, and is a nightmare again. STAY AWAY.

CVS Pharmacy has repeatedly disappointed me. Today was no different. My doctor doubled the amount of a certain prescription I am taking. His office emailed the new dosage prescription to the local CVS pharmacy and CVS Caremark mail order. I had to get a small amount immediately at the local CVS because I was running out and the CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy wouldn't be able to mail my new prescription in time. Long story short, CVS never sent an override to my insurance company noting the new dosage, so my insurance company denied it as they did not know my dosage had been doubled. It is the responsibility of CVS to give the insurance company this information. They did not. So after spending an hour on the phone with my insurance company, (who contacted CVS Caremark and the local CVS pharmacy), everything was finally straightened out. At least I thought it was.
The local CVS pharmacy then called me and said they didn't have my prescription in stock. It would be three days for a new shipment. This is a common medication and I live in a major city, not in the boondocks! I asked the pharmacist for a number where I could speak about their poor service. Guess what? He (all of the sudden) "found" my medication and filled it. Also, at another time a few months ago, I had surgery and was prescribed a standard pain medication. Of course CVS didn't have it in stock. They told me because it was a narcotic that they are limited in the amount they could order. They are not allowed to let me know when or if they would ever get it in stock and they are not allowed to check with other CVS pharmacies to see if they have it. I went to Walgreens and got it filled. No problem there. Just the typical experience I have at CVS pharmacy and CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy.

If I use Caremark, they require you to buy three months worth at $80 each, so I purchased it out of pocket instead. A week later, three bottles mysteriously show up in the mail, which I didn't order. CVS Caremark says they can't be returned and denies that they were auto-shipped to me. There is also a supposed deductible which should have long been met by now yet I have to cough up $250 for the drugs I didn't order.

After being told by CVS/Caremark that I had no choice but to use their mail order prescription service, I had my doctor send RX's for my insulin and my Victoza to them...As I am diabetic, these medications are crucial for daily use. They waited until I was out of my insulin for over a week before dispensing it, then over two weeks out of Victoza before they sent it... by the time I got those meds, my blood sugars were out of control. I now have RX's in for needles and Lipitor, they received the RX on May 28th, and on their website it has said for the last 3 days that they are dispensing them... however, nothing about them being sent. When they deliver the medications, they are left out on my front step, I have no way of knowing when they will arrive, so they could be stolen... so frustrating. I try hard to find the positive in every situation, but they have the worst customer service.

During February 2015, we decided to take advantage of what was described to us by a CVS/Caremark customer service representative as an offer whereas we pay only one co-pay for all of our diabetic supplies purchased at that time, instead of paying each items co-pay. We ordered our supplies through our regular pharmacy, NOT CVS, and were advised they could not run the offer through. We contacted CVS and were advised it must be the pharmacy not running the prescription correctly and have them do it again. After several such tries, we were advised the pharmacy could not run the prescriptions as CVS had instructed. We advised to hold the order and we would recontact CVS for further instructions. After several hours of being on hold, dead end transfers, dropped transfers, we did manage to speak to a representative who stated it may be a systems issue on CVS side.
While at our pharmacy, we were on the phone with the representative and our pharmacist was on the phone with CVS Help Desk to work through the issue and they still could not process our order. After three hours of this, the representative, on a recorded line, advised us to pay cash for the co-pays and CVS would reimburse us for the costs, as this was their issue. He even went so far as to tell us he would email us the reimbursement forms. We confirmed this advice several times with him and had our pharmacist confirm the same information prior to doing as instructed.
Fast forward to the end of March 2015, we had not received any emails from CVS nor had we been successful in speaking to anyone regarding this issue. We were once again in need of supplies and spoke to a different representative. We went through the same sickening process of trying to get the order to go through CVS, but to no avail. We did not spend the hours as last time and only paid cash for a partial supply. On April 6, 2015, we called CVS customer support to inquire about the reimbursement forms again and actually speak to someone about the process. After being transferred to the Internet Help Desk twice, we got someone to understand we did not need assistance with that. After speaking to this person, we were advised she could not provide us with our reimbursement. We became upset and requested to speak to a supervisor, to which we were told no, we would not be given the opportunity to speak to one.
My spouse and I would trade off and on during the phone conversation as our level of patience waxed and waned. It was during one of the times I was on the line was I advised a senior representative would be able to assist me and I was immediately placed on hold. When the person picked up, I retold the complete information from the beginning. It was a struggle. Not because of my emotions, but because of the interruptions and her talking over me. I wish they were to ask questions, but they weren't. I stopped talking and listened and then requested the same. This is what I discovered: CVS does offer a one time diabetic co-payment program. However, it is only if you order online, through their store, and a 60-90 day supply. No one advised us of this. NO ONE. Also, CVS does not send any documents via email, ever. We were then advised reimbursements do not occur.
The conversation escalated from there for over a hour. I strongly requested the phone records be examined for what was advised to us and the reimbursement be provided. She stated she would submit the request, with the review process taking 72 business hours, or 9 working days. As this was a Tuesday, I advised I would be calling at the end of the week for an update. When I called on April 10, 2015, I was advised by a CVS representative a check for the complete amount of our reimbursement amount had been authorized and in process to be sent.
To date, June 3, 2015 CVS has lied about the issue date on more than four occasions, denied a check was being issued, stated they could find no record of conversations, and have, and I really hate to use this word, provided the very worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. I had gotten so terribly bad, I brought my employer in to assist, as they are the ones who pick CVS/Caremark for the pharmacy benefit. CVS has even played the same games with them! Do not use this pharmacy/vendor for anything! They are the scum underneath the garbage cans that were full of dirty diapers, dead animals, used condoms, and old tampons.

We needed them to override their NON-received Rx's and release it to the local pharmacy to have meds to cover from the last Rx fill and they gave us nothing but a runaround. They confirmed what BCBS had on file several times as if we gave them the wrong address and the same answer they got the first time was as is the next several times. They wanted me to research why the PO did not ship to a good address and be the intercessor between them and the local pharmacist.
I have been lied to in the beginning and nothing but more as I went along (inconsistent stories). I had to keep escalating to the next level of management just so we can try to get somewhere and it didn't sound like I was speaking to managers but different employees from other areas of the company. I was told they have to wait until the shipment returns from the PO to release my mother's order and refund the deductible or contact the Dr to write new RXs - again! I have been trying to get this package which was shipped in Illinois to another Illinois address. They could have used a local carrier to drive 30 minutes instead of the hassles we experienced. Nothing happened and got a one month supply elsewhere. Asking the doctor's people, they said they had no knowledge of a call from CVS/Caremark.
Finally not hearing from CVS/Caremark at all, I sent an e mail message asking what happened. I asked for a call and left my number. I got an e mail saying my doctor hadn't responded to them. I called Customer Care and was told that I only cancelled auto-refill and NOT auto-renewal, and therefore the prescription was renewed automatically. Although very frustrated and out $65 for medication I do not want or need, I realized I was going nowhere with the rep and asked that the auto renewal be cancelled as well.
When I went to my health portal to check on this, I saw a notice that if I was not given 10-day notice before medication is sent that I would be able to send it back for a full refund including postage. Long story, even longer, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a rep this morning (most on hold while he checked with a "senior manager"), I was told that they are not aware of any such policy!!! They say it is not on the CVS/Caremark portal.
The rep told me he would let me talk to the senior rep directly, but after being put on hold again, finally was told that they would investigate this and get back to me by the 19th, almost a week away. This is a SCAM of major proportions. I now have 7 unopened boxes of medication that have cost me $151.20 that I will never use! I will say the rep was polite. My husband was on and off hold for over a half hour this morning and every time he calls for a refill. You can't just enter in the RX number and get the refill like at a normal pharmacy. Then they want you to go over all the information again, credit card number, etc. as if it were the first time you ever ordered through them, that is if they in fact find you in the system. This is the most grossly incompetent organization we have EVER had the displeasure of working with. They outright lied to me last summer about my medication, sent me the wrong one, the one I told them NOT to send, and they wouldn't correct it without charging me.
I went directly to the supplier of the brand medication and am getting it from them. Caremark said it would cost me $1,000 a month for a brand name of this medication. I get it for $50 from the distributor/pharmaceutical company. How is it that they are in business and Tufts uses them at all??? If they cancel their contract with them, I'm sure we will have to pay more for our insurance because a competent mail order system will charge more. My husband told them he had to go to work and he was angry that he had to go through this every single time he refilled. The website for Caremark said my Novolin R insulin was being auto refilled now last week. After not receiving it within several days (insulin is supposed to be overnighted) I called this past Monday and was told they had no record of it being filled and had no explanation as to why and why the website said it was being refilled. I was told it would be filled and I would receive it by Thursday of this week. I still haven't received it as of Friday (today). This morning (also Friday) I received a call from Caremark asking to verify my address. I verified it and asked why they needed this as I have been with them for some time and have always had the same address and no one has ever asked this before. They had no explanation.
Then the rep. asked if the prescription was for my husband and gave a totally different name for him. I told the rep. that was not my husband's name (the insurance is through his work and they require using Caremark) and that the script was for me and they should be able to figure that out since I've been ordering the same insulin for a long time under my name. Once again, no explanation, just said they must have made a mistake, apologized and hung up. 2 minutes later, the same rep. called again and said they made a mistake and can see that it is me that ordered the med and asked again for my address and said the med. had been shipped 5/6/15. I waited until almost 8pm on Friday in case it was being delivered late by UPS or FedEx but no delivery.
I called again, this time was told it was shipped on 5/5/15 even though the website says 5/6/15. I asked do they think they may have shipped it to the wrong person or address, again no explanation except that if this happened they would have to wait 15 days to re-issue it. I asked what do I do in the meantime when I run out of insulin. I was told to have my doctor order it through a local pharmacy, that the pharmacy would receive a message from Caremark that the local pharmacy would not be allowed to fill it but they could request Caremark to override it and allow the local pharmacy to fill it. I said I can only imagine how long that would take considering how they had screwed up so much already. Again, no explanation, just a pat apology.
Now, does anyone want to make any bets as to when and if I receive this med? This is not the first time I have had problems with Caremark, just the latest in a long line of screw ups but enough to finally make me complain to someone about them (had to use this website since there is no one to complain to there). I have had to use the assigned mail order pharmacies that my husband's work/insurance requires and have been through Cigna, Express Scripts and now Caremark. While Cigna and Express Scripts did have some minor problems, they were nothing compared to Caremark. To anyone reading this, DO NOT USE CAREMARK if you can possibly help it.

First, after 4 months, CVS dropped me from my Medicare Part D which I have through CALPERS. The nightmare started when I got a letter from CVS saying I would be dropped for not paying IRMA. However, I had paid IRMA in full as billed by the Social Security Administration. I have to pay IRMA by check through my bill pay as I have a very high income but a tiny social security benefit; there is not enough left in my benefit to cover IRMA after the Medicare tax is taken out, so I pay out of pocket.
My payment covering the first three months was considered late because I had scheduled the payment to arrive the day it was due. I did not realize that unlike other billers I deal with, Social Security does not credit the payment the day it arrives. It apparently takes up to two weeks to credit the payment. However, a Medicare customer service representative verified that the payment had been received, I was in good standing and that I would not be dropped from Medicare Part D. I conveyed this information to a CVS customer service rep. I continued to pay my IRMA two weeks early through the end of the year. I made my January payment. In March I received a check for the amount of one month IRMA from the Federal Treasury.
That is how I found out CVS had dropped me from my Part D as of January 2015 even though I had paid my IRMA regularly and was in good standing with the Social Security Administration. It took countless hours on the phone with CVS, CALPERS and Medicare to figure out what had happened. The lower level customer service reps at CVS and CALPERS were basically clowns. Finally I got a hold of someone higher up at CALPERS who helped me straighten it out. Fortunately PERS had covered me when I was dropped (however without informing me) via the plan I was under before I had retired so there would be no break in my coverage.
Now CVS is forced to reinstate me supposedly on May 1, 2015. We'll see. The fact that they didn't verify my Medicare Part D IRMA status before they dropped me is unconscionable. Fortunately as a retired public employee I had access to a drug plan even though I was dropped from the one I was supposed to be on, but what happens to people who CVS messes with who aren't so lucky and maybe need chemotherapy or a maintenance drug to survive? As for me, CVS forced me to waste countless hours talking to know nothing customer service reps in order to understand and solve my problem. I finally got a Medicare representative from the problem solving unit (can't remember what they call it) to get on a three way with someone at CVS and found someone at CALPERS in a position to make CVS reinstate me.
Another issue I've had with CVS is the lackadaisical way they fill my maintenance prescriptions. On April 15, 2015 I ordered a 90 day supply of my statin. Nine days later I had still not received the order. Now I'm out of the drug. I called CVS a few minutes ago. The customer service rep told me (after a long wait on hold--par for the course with CVS) that my prescription had been mailed but there was no tracking on it. I said "I need the prescription can you please send it out?" Well, "no. It can't be ordered again for 15 days." I said "surely I can pick it up at the pharmacy." Well "yes but you have to pay additional for it." I said get me a supervisor after I realized I was going in circles with this woman. More delay.
Finally I got a supervisor who basically reiterated what the rep had said, but with a slight change: I could get a ten day supply at no charge that would be taken off my 90 day supply and if I didn't get the order by April 30, I would have to call back to reorder (so the burden is on me, not CVS). I was then transferred to the pharmacy--more delay. I was told I couldn't pick it up from my local 24 hour CVS pharmacy until the following day. When I complained that I would have gone four days without my medication, the pharmacy tech said she would call the pharmacy to see if I could pick it up that night. More time on hold.
Yes, as it turned out, I can pick it up at 9pm. We'll see. I was also told (blame the consumer) that I should have placed my order two weeks before I ran out in case something like this should happen. That tells me this is a common occurrence with CVS and not an anomaly. What a colossal waste of time and energy dealing with CVS. I fervently hope CALPERS drops CVS the next time their contract comes up for renewal. I doubt if any other company could be worse.

CVS do not care, mailed us 90 day medication without our knowledge. We had already filled that prescription from Shoppers. These tablets did not help with migraine. We were surprised to receive 90 day supply of 30 tablets from CVS Do Not Care. We never had any agreement with CVS. We had never got any mail prescriptions before from CVS Do Not Care. We call them 3 times but they are not accepting these back. They say they tried to call us. If they are mailing medication they should mail a letter before that informing us this would be shipped since they were unable to talk to us over the phone. All they care is $69.32 from us. Our insurance already paid them more than $100 for this prescription. All of their company polices are to make money in the name of customer privacy.

I'm a relatively new customer of CVS Caremark's mail-order program, and after seeing all the negative reviews was a little worried about the quality of service I would receive. But I'd like to report that after three months as a customer everything has gone about as well as it could. All my prescriptions were successfully transferred over from the previous mail-order supplier, and my new meds received from CVS in a timely manner with status updates all along the way. When it came time to renew I received an e-mail and everything proceeded as smoothly as the first time. I should probably mention that my three prescriptions are all for relatively common meds, so I haven't pushed the envelope at all.

After much waiting on hold and challenging the various staff (four different people I had to speak to) at Caremark, they agreed to give me brand name Synthroid at generic prices. In the past, they filled the Synthroid once with a generic and I called and requested it to be brand name always and they agreed and only charged generic prices. This is because my doctor says the generics are NOT good equivalents, and apparently there is substantial research to back this up.
This last time I refilled, they claimed that because my doctor wrote "do not substitute" on the prescription, that they were entitled to charge me $52.20, rather than $10. They stated that they always fill with brand name for this drug and that the doctor "needs to write 'substitution with generic o.k.'" for me to get the brand name Synthroid at the generic charge. On what planet that this makes any sense I don't know. But they did reverse the charge and refund $42.20. At least they said they would. So don't back down and demand they charge you only your co-pay for generic price for synthroid ladies.

I have been dealing with this company ever since my medicine went mail order a year ago, never had a problem until now. Their Customer Service SUCKS!!!! They give you different answers every time you have to call back about something, then never take your side, and then yell at you! When you’re just relaying the message that a different representative gave you! I’ve spent several hours daily going back and forth with this company, Just to get yelled at for being right!! No appreciation for their customers! No customer support! Not friendly at all!!!

My employer just switched insurance to CVS Caremark pharmacy. We are now required to use their crappy mail order pharmacy. They decided not to fill one of my meds because of a potential interaction despite the fact that my meds haven't changed for 15 years and I have never had a problem. My doctor is smart enough to know what to prescribe and they are barely capable of speaking English...much less handling my medical care. It has been almost a month, still no meds, and apparently they could care less. My next step is to report them to the State bureau of licensing & regulation. As an RN I can't arbitrarily withhold a patient's medication so what makes them think they have that right? Jerks!!!

Two and a half weeks ago I submitted my family's prescriptions for refill, verified and authorized the payment. Had the doctor fax all necessary authorizations the following day. 3 days later I received 1 out of 6 prescriptions. 9 days after that I called to see where my family's medication was only to be told it was on hold because it was over $200.00. I explained I was already told and agreed to the pricing. They said their multitude of sorry's and said they would overnight it.
When it didn't come today I called once again only to hear the same song and dance. It's on hold because it's over $200.00. But they are sorry and will follow this order to make sure it is sent out, overnighted. But it can go out today as it is already past their shipment time. Heard that story Monday morning too, it was 9:30 am. Children out of their medication now. Having to get loaned meds from local pharmacy. The time and aggravation are not worth a couple saved bucks. Do NOT use CVS/Caremark, they are not reliable.

I have had several issues with CVS Caremark. The customer service is horrible. They are rude and will not let you get a word in. The last lady I spoke with today was yelling at me on the phone. I wished the company recorded these conversations, it is shocking. On a separate note, a few weeks ago I was running out of my prescription for my hypertension. As usual I used their automated system to enter in my prescription number for refill. A few weeks later I received an antibiotic in the mail. At this point I was almost out of my blood pressure medication.
I am not sure why they sent me 90 days worth of an antibiotic when I requested a medication for my blood pressure. I called again and the conversation went nowhere. I just need the company to know that their employees have horrible costumer service and I dread working with them (as a provider as well). There also needs to be a closer eye on the medications being mailed. By their way the company also automatically billed me for the antibiotics that I did not order. I now have medications I did not ask for and a bill I am stuck with.

I contacted CVS regarding the price for a generic prescription of Levaquin. I was told that without insurance the price would be $655.00 for generic and the brand name a significant amount more. Of note, that same prescription was $84.53 at a local K-Mart and a comparable price at Target in Valparaiso, Indiana. There is NO justification for a commonly prescribed antibiotic to cost that much in this or any other universe. The clerk made no offer to explain the difference in pricing nor an apology for the exorbitant cost of same. How is it possible/why are they allowed to charge such ridiculous prices? What makes their prescriptions any more valuable to the everyday consumer? I will not, nor will any member of my family, buy so much as a piece of gum from CVS as a result of their unfair/likely illegal price gouging practices. SHAME ON YOU CVS.

It's pretty clear that CVS Caremark is making medical decisions about your care as a Pharmacy service. But for the Mail-Order service, phone center staff, account supervisors, and poorly managed quality control are resulting in bad medical management which increases risks with your health. Please write ghost letters for your Physician to sign and send them to the American Medical Association and to a local newspaper for editorial. American medical care is worsening not because of government funding programs but because of very very poor administrative and business processes involved with medical care that is out of the hand of your physician and most everyone else.

Caremark will not approve my refill. I have to go back to my doctor, make another appointment and get a NEW prescription; existing prescriptions are NOT transferable. Caremark said Walgreens should have informed me of this. When Walgreens enters the prescription into their system, Caremark returns a message that reads "medication not covered; customer must use mail order." I called Caremark and after hearing about my options, asked for a manager. The manager said it will take 5 days to escalate to see if they can obtain a 'one-time' allowance. I don't have the $$ to pay out of pocket.

Google generic vs. Brand name. Generic drugs do not need to be even chemically exact to brand. CVS, especially their highly self-touted "Specialty Pharmacy" (LOL) under all the plans being sold to the government and large companies, pushes cheap generics first, will sell brand at the agreed-upon policy price IF generic is not available, but demanding Brand when generic is available gives CVS Caremark "permission" to charge an unspecified random penalty. But, the penalty definition is not discussed in any of the company's pre-signup documentation.
The thousands of dollars in penalties per 90-day supply don't bother me much, I can afford them. What bothers me is that for most high level diseases such as transplants (I'm a kidney transplant) or chemical imbalance/depression, GENERICS ARE NOT THE SAME AS BRAND! In late December 2014, a generic form of Myfortic anti-rejection for kidneys came out. CVS didn't send letters or call, they just switched my prescription (placed 3 days before the release) to be picked up at the end of December. I caught it and refused to switch. The cost jumped from $25 to the penalized $1300 for 30 days supply.
My teaching hospital has done a study and released a technical paper that shows that in the 2.5 months since CVS has forced this change to generic Myfortic on an unwitting public, the cases of rejection at their facility have jumped from <10% to greater than 30%. My physical therapist wife quit her job in order to spend 10 to 15 hours a week trying to resolve issues around each drug I have to order through these unresponsive zombies. Their job, apparently, is to pass the buck from Caremark to Specialty Pharmacy, because neither can answer the most basic questions.
Not only should the screwed up state of healthcare be addressed by every member of all parties and branches of government - and quit barking about the glorious attributes of Obamacare - but CVS Caremark needs to be called to testify about the murders they are committing. We already seen that they are wantonly killing transplant patients - many of whom are shareholders through their 401k's. Since government runs at a glacial and unhelpful pace, I OFFER MY SUPPORT TO ANY AND ALL INDIVIDUAL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST CVS CAREMARK AND THEIR SPECIALTY PHARMACY DIVISION.
Since there are no direct lines to actual customer support or advocacy, this is our only way to approach this company because that is how they want it to be... difficult. Finally, my healthcare provider is completely separate from my drug policy, and Cigna has been 100% reliable to work with, 180 degrees the opposite of the thieves at CVS. CVS is not an example of a good American company, and jail time is the only remedy for their leadership.

Called in a refill for my Lantus insulin on Saturday 3/21/15, was told it would ship Monday. No call on Monday, called CVS Caremark for a status update. I was told that I hadn't paid for the prescription and it was on hold. I assured the rep it was paid for b/c I had supplied my credit card on Saturday. The rep finally put me on hold, came back about 3 minutes later and said "yup it was paid for, it was just hiding from me", and I was assured the insulin would be shipped Monday for a Tuesday delivery.
When I got to work Tuesday, on voice message from Caremark, they normally call and advise when orders ship. I called Caremark again. Today I was told that my insulin was on hold and I asked why. This time I was told that it is a "high dollar prescription" and their system automatically does that, so they can call the customer to make sure they know the cost. I asked why would they put it on hold to call me if I was the customer calling in the refill and fully knew the cost. I was then told it's because their "system isn't smart enough to know the difference between a Dr's office calling in or a customer".
This totally didn't make sense to me because when I call in I give my name, member number and credit card number to pay. I realized this girl didn't know what she was talking about, so I hung up and called back and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor checked my account, could clearly see that my insulin was held up but he didn't know why. There was no "high dollar" hold as one rep told me and he explained that only applies to orders over $250, my Lantus is $198/month. This supervisor finally contacted the pharmacy and my insulin was finally shipped that day and I received it on Wednesday.
Thursday I go into work and there is a message from CVS that my insulin is ready to be refilled and I should call them to refill it. They have NO clue what they are doing. I am a Type 1 diabetic and can't afford to play games like this. I have to deal mail order because I can't afford a 90 day supply at the local CVS, which would be $600. I hate dealing with CVS and their incompetent employees, and they are not just at Caremark but at CVS Pharmacies as well.

Have been taking methotrexate (a chemotherapy drug) for rheumatoid arthritis for years. I go to local pharmacy to pick up drug and I am told they will no longer supply to me. That I have to go thru their specialty division to get this. I contact the specialty division. This has been over 2 weeks. I still do not have my drugs. No one returns your calls. They ALL lie to you and give you different excuses as to why you do not have the meds. They changed the name of the drug to make it a specialty drug.
Other pharmacies did not do this. My body needs this drug so I had to purchase from another pharmacy and pay full price. I have read numerous complaints on CVS and find it interesting that this company is doing several customers across the U. S. the same way when it comes to meds their bodies need and have been on for years. It appears to me this is the company's plan. Why isn't our government doing anything about this?

If this has happened to you, please respond to this review (look for the button at the bottom of the review). Surely I can't be alone and I'm trying to gather others. I have been trying to get my medical records from CVS Caremark. They are completely violating HIPAA and California state law. They have refused to provide me with a copy. CA law says they needed to get them to me within 15 days, that has come and gone. After I sent my request, I called repeatedly and three separate reps told me that the records were in the mail.
Finally, I was told that CVS Caremark "never" releases records to the customer. They said that this was their "official policy." They played good cop/bad cop and one rep agreed to send me just the letters that had gone back and forth between me, them, and my doctor, and acted like that was a good deal. That is NOT my complete medical record according to the law. Worse? I've told them repeatedly that I'm waiting for these records to file an appeal on a prior authorization denial. They are holding me off. It's despicable. Please, we have to show them that they can't do this to people.

I won't do business with either CVS or Walgreens due to them being involved in illegal drug diverting - caught & fined. They need to remove the pharmacies if they can't fill prescriptions! 1st they refuse pain medication & I was wondering when it would extend to all medications & here it is. CVS - "Health is everything", they advertise - unless you happen to get ill, then just go away and die. And they think removing cigarettes just made them peachy squeaky clean? What a joke. I feel so bad for the people whose stories I've read here. Seems they're picking on the elderly & non-wealthy the most. Thanks, DEA, FDA, NIH, WHO, anyone who is turning a blind eye.
What good is health insurance when first, you can't get a diagnosis for years & when/if you do, and happen to need a medicine, doctor writes an RX, but pharmacy won't fill it? That's just $ wasted, from the doctor office on down. These chain pharmacies, the 2 are the worst & should be shut down; should've happened when busted for drug diverting in Florida! Imagine if that were you or I doing that! Life in prison & they get a slap on the wrist. The fine was like $20 to obscenely wealthy corps like this.
