This organization is terrible. Their greed and disdain for their members is astonishing. I have been trying for months to get a simple prescription filled yet they will not mail it, nor will they fill it at my local pharmacy. At first I thought they were just inept, but now I know they are straight up criminals. Something’s gotta give. No country can continue to deny healthcare to its citizens like this.

I have CVS Caremark as my PBM in my Aetna insurance plan. I have been on Mounjaro/Zepbound for 2.5 years to treat my chronic obesity and sleep apnea. I have lost over 100 lbs, dramatically reduced inflammation, pain, sleep issues, gone off cholesterol medications, and improved my overall health. Caremark made a deal with NovoNordisk the makers of Wegovy (an inferior obesity medication) to only offer their medication and to remove Zepbound from their formulary. Profits over patients. I am currently on the highest dose of Zepbound and the highest dose of Wegovy is not comparable so I fear my symptoms will return along with my poor health. Money is all they care about. They have no business deciding what is medically necessary for my health, that is my Dr’s job. Shame on Caremark!!

CVS Caremark is a trash pile of a company. They screw up routine authorizations and are unable to keep track of deductibles. I have never had a good experience with this company and am switching to a different insurer to no longer have to deal with them.

I just got switched from Express Scripts to Caremark. Prescriptions of mine that have been covered for years, now they don't want to cover them even inhalers I really need for my breathing for my COPD and my patches for my arthritic hip which was x-rayed and confirmed. Looks like all they are concerned about dollars and their bottom line certainly not their member's health!

My insurance changed recently, and CVS Caremark was the preferred, cheaper prescription provider. I used CVS in the past and was dissatisfied, but decided to give it another go. I received my first (and last) package. I was given only a 30 day supply instead of the 90 day supply I was expecting. I was also missing 1 prescription. I contacted CVS via chat (couldn't find a phone number). I was told the prescription in question was rejected because they do not fill it through the mail order. I asked where I could get it or have the prescription transferred. I was told the prescription no longer existed because it was rejected.
I just had my doctor reorder the same prescriptions through the local pharmacy that I know will refill them and keep me up to date on any issues they may have. I gave CVS 2 tries and each time the lack of customer service outweighs the savings their mail order offers. It will be over 2 weeks of not having a prescription that has worked very well for my medical needs.

My company switched to using CVS Caremark and I’ve been suffering ever since. I have a prescription that I take daily that causes me to go into withdrawal if I don’t take it. I’ve notified CVS Caremark of this which they should already know since that’s literally their job but this is the 3rd time they’ve denied me a refill despite being contacted by my psychiatrist. The 2 previous times I went into withdrawal and literally had symptoms of a drug abuser because they refused to fulfill my prescription in a timely manner. Everyone that works here deserves to be fired.

I cannot stress enough how terrible this company is. Unfortunately for me, the company I work for uses CVS Caremark for all our pharmacy needs. I rarely deal with someone who is kind enough to explain an issue, and I'm so done with how they process prescriptions. For me, CVS will only fill 90-day supplies if I go through CVS. They don't allow me to fill 90-day supplies at other pharmacies. Luckily, most of my generics I can get from Amazon in 90-day supplies WITHOUT having to use my insurance. It's that cheap.
But the reason I'm here, writing a review is that every. single. time. I need to update my password, I have to do it three or four times before CVS accepts that it's been changed. Each time, the app or website accepts the password I create and then when I try to login a second time, it tells me my password is wrong. And then I end up locked out. It's a recurring problem that angers me to all hell. Couple this with the incredibly long load times of their app and constant delays or hiccups. If you can choose another company, do it. They're not worth it.

If you're accustomed to having your doctor write a prescription and then seamlessly either picking it up at your local pharmacy or having it delivered via a mail service, you will be disappointed with this pharmacy. Once the script is written and provided to the pharmacy, you will need to approve the order, if there is a slight discrepancy between what the doctor orders and your pharmacy's formulary, get ready to take the lead in sorting it all out (CVS Caremark doesn't care). Their game is to put as many roadblocks in a process which has worked fine for years in order to get patients (customers) to give up. Worst pharmacy in the United States without a doubt.

The “Prior Authorization” paperwork is a nightmare…..and this for a maintenance medication that I have been taking (through Caremark) for more than ten years! Often the task for completing the Prior Authorization clearance is left to the doctors, unqualified clerical staff and respond with a “wrong” answer, resulting in a hold on medication. Calling Caremark is useless about the “hold” since they employ people who can’t or won’t answer why the doctor’s response is wrong.
Four out of five of my meds are paid for out of pocket since I need my daily pills. This is the nanny state at its worse. Bad, unaccountable insurance is worse than no insurance at all because of the frustration it causes, the endless calls to insurance companies that can’t answer simple questions, and the anger it creates. If you are on daily blood pressure meds, pay out of pocket for your meds (and your health) to avoid dealing with this company.

CVS Caremark is frequently requiring a prior authorization, even though they filled the med last month without one. It just keeps getting worse, too. Each month I'm on the phone with them, only to be met with unqualified representatives who are just reading off of a script. l now spend my mornings arguing with them instead of being able to get my medications and enjoying life. It's becoming so bad, I feel like it's now my career having to call them so often. They required a prior authorization for an antihistamine that's been on the market since 1959. If you're in the market for a prescription drug insurance, avoid CVS Caremark like the plague.

Days later, they still haven't approved the prior authorization they've already received, no end in sight. I'll be out of meds before they get their act together. No other pharmacy has been this inept for this prescription. I've put in a grievance with my insurer requesting to go back to my previous specialty pharmacy (Bioplus- they're excellent). Caremark frankly is in line with the other health insurers in this country as it maintains the strategy of deny, deny, deny, depose and delay. I have been trying to get my diabetes medications and supplies through my paid health insurance since January. Caremark has consistently denied medications I have taken for over ten years, for documented conditions. I have had numerous attempts of my dr. preauthorizing the medications and supplies, each time they have a new restriction that they require, now I'm on the 3rd change of brand of insulin and still awaiting my monitors to be approved. This is four months and I've already run out of one of my medications and spent an entire month's pay for one month worth, and yet I'm denied again, delayed again, and have to submit more approval again. No wonder what occurred to the CEO of United happened. It's criminal what these people are allowed to get away with.

I am a type 2 diabetic and I rely on this to keep up with my blood sugar levels to help control my insulin through a pump. I have called customer service. I spoke with four different people on three separate attempts to talk with someone as I was disconnected twice.
The last person I spoke with was a supervisor with the company. She told me that I could do a video visit with a doctor through CVS and get a new prescription because the one I was waiting on was my last refill. No, I don't need a new doctor's visit because I had already done that, and I was waiting for the doctor to send the script over to CVS. We need to be talking about the prescription I have not received yet. She told me to go to a local pharmacy and get it. I can't because the local pharmacy does not carry it that's why I use CVS. I told her this three times. Well, we can't do anything for 10-14 days about it. During all of this, I said I already paid you $90 for the prescription and I have nothing to show for it. She did not care that I was a diabetic. I do not like CVS CAREMARK!

I am disgusted by this company. The level of greed and lack of care for their clients astounds me. I needed a prescription that was a very specific brand that I’ve been using for a years, instead of refilling my prescription normally, Caremark took it upon themselves to switch me to an entirely different generic medication because it would be cheaper for them. After over 20 hours of phone calls, 60 calls to the pharmacist, my physician, and Caremark, I finally (after four months) have my first shipment of my medication coming. FOUR MONTHS. I DIDNT HAVE MY PRESCRIPTION FROM THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THEIR GREED. BECAUSE IT WAS CHEAPER TO PUT ME ON GENERIC. I have sobbed, my body has suffered from the lack of medicine. I am reviewing the Aetna CVS Health OTC $100 Visa Debit Card Nightmare RIPOFF. This is the card CVS give you for the in home Health Visit once a year if you complete the health visit. This is the most unorganized scam of a program I have ever seen. This is the 2nd year I have received the card. I have had endless problems trying to use it, the first year no one told me it was not a regular visa debit card and I tried to use it at the grocery store or for gas 4 times and it wouldn't work.
I called the number on the back and they didn't tell me anything they sent me a new card after the 4th time calling. Their customer service really doesn't have a clue or they do have a clue and they just do not want you to use the card clearly the second option is correct. It wasn't until months later and called them again that they finally told me this is a OTC card you can only use it at CVS for a tiny selection of items in the store only with the Blue OTC tags maybe 1% of the items in the store. Yes that's right a bunch of stuff you don't need at all.
I spent 2 hours in CVS trying to find items with the blue tag nothing I really needed brought it up to the counter and the checkers were beyond confused didn't know how to ring it up with the card it took 20 minutes at the counter for a little basket of stuff and they kept saying this one isn't covered on the card and I was like no it is it had the Blue tag, every item I picked had the blue tag but over and over this one is not working with the card even though all had the blue tag. I only got half the stuff in the basket because I had to get out of there before I blew a gasket. But that is not even close to the end of the story. I received my card this year went into CVS talked to a nice lady that worked there she told me this year you can use the card at many other stores like Walmart, HEB, a whole list of stores.
I was curious so I ran out to 3 stores on the list she gave me. After wasting a couple hours doing this I talked to employees at these store. Only to find out that all the other stores have no tags to show you what items you can buy with this card and there is a tiny selection of items the card works for. This means if you bring up a whole cart full of items maybe 1% of them you can use this card for and no one at the stores know which items it works for.
I went back to CVS just to try to use this card and get rid of it and get it out of my life. This past Sunday I know I have about $60 left on it. I bring up 3 items that totaled about $50. All 3 had the Blue OTC tag on them, 2' CVS Retinol, and 1 Sensodyne Toothpaste from the in Home Health Section with all the blue tagged items. I also bought this same Retinol last year with my $100 card.
I bring the item to the counter, not working, not working right down the line all of them. She knew there was problem and that it should have been working it was the same CVS employee I talked to previously and she was real and pretty nice. She told me about all the countless problems that she has had with other customers with this same Aetna CVS Health OTC Card. She told me one customer just left the card there and said they were not coming back again. She also told me that she thinks the OTC Card the program is a total mess and she think CVS does this on purpose so you can not use the card or the customer will just give up and won't use it.
I 100% agree this card is a Scam and CVS does not want you to use it so you will throw it away and they don't have to honor it and keep the items on their shelves. I have never in my life seen a card like this that has purposely been made by a company CVS on purpose. This impossible to use. It is just as I described in the title. A Nightmare Ripoff Scam and this is no accident or bad experience by one person. I've read similar stories about this card online. I am not quite sure how this is ethical or legal but this is what they have chosen to do.

Unacceptable Denial of Critical Medication. I am beyond frustrated with CVS Caremark’s handling of my prescription for Mounjaro—a medication I have been on for the past year and a half. This drug has stabilized my blood sugar and helped me lose 136 pounds, dramatically improving my health. Yet today, despite no changes in my life, job, or medical condition, my refill was denied without justification. This decision is not just an inconvenience—it’s a direct threat to my health. I have now gone four days without my necessary medication, and the consequences could be severe. The lack of transparency and refusal to provide coverage for a drug that has clearly been effective is completely unacceptable.
CVS Caremark, how do you justify suddenly cutting off access to a medication that is working? How do you expect patients to maintain their health when you make arbitrary and unexplained decisions? I need immediate assistance to resolve this issue. If you are considering using CVS Caremark for your prescriptions, beware—they have no problem playing games with people’s health. I expect a prompt response and a resolution immediately.

My drug benefit plan switched to CVS/Caremark. It was a terrible choice. All Rx's were supposed to be transferred from the previous mail order pharmacy but that's not what happened. After filing a complaint with Caremark, the representative told me they got all of my Rx's transferred and I could go online to refill existing Rx's. When I went online it accepted my first refill yet, on the same screen, it also said that my Rx refill was cancelled....Totally confusing and not user friendly.
I had to call Caremark to find out why but every person I've spoken with at Caremark so far give a conflicting answer from what you can see on their system or from what the previous person told you. If I could give them zero stars I would. One day this company is going to kill someone, if they haven't already. Trying to get needed prescription drugs in a timely fashion is next to impossible. My most recent prescription for blood sugar sensors, set for auto delivery mind you, was already 30 days past its renewal date when I had to reach out to CVS to find out what the hell was going on. Thank goodness I had an old device with test strips or I would have been screwed. I hated going back to finger sticks but I had not choice. What's worse, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Same thing happened with my husband's blood glucose regulating medication. So, despite my medicine being set up for auto delivery, I had to use the chat feature at their website to place a new order.
Adding insult to injury, when I get the email confirmation, despite having gone over all of my information in the chat and having confirmed the billing information, the confirm showed my husband's credit card information rather than mine. Something that has happened before and I'm sure will happen again. Changing to CVS Caremark is the single worst decision my employer's benefits team has ever made. As much as I may have complained about Express Scripts, they are head and shoulders above CVS Caremark. If I were to choose a single word to describe this company it would be INCOMPETENCE. Oh, and don't get me started on pricing. It's never consistent. If you talk to 3 different agents I promise you will get three different prices for the same quantity of the same drug. Consistency is non-existent. I hate CVS Caremark. I wish my employer had made a better choice.

I am glad I started the process early because they did nothing. They have no record of the chat when I called. I called a week later and spoke to someone that was very nice and helpful except that when my prescription still was not ordered or updated over a week later I called again. The order was cancelled by them with no notification to me. I finally saw it when I checked online, the person on the phone couldn’t even see it. She also had NO record of my previous call.
The reason for cancellation was that they tried to call the provider numerous times and couldn’t reach them. That would be because a HUMAN being would have needed to make that call to press the appropriate # choice to reach that department! I was recently told by my new insurance company (Oscar) that the mail order company that is in-network for my plan was CVS Caremark, so I had to switch to them. Well they are HORRIBLE! I've had several interactions with them and each interaction was full of errors.
1 - When transferring my prescriptions from ExpressScripts to them, they assured me they would not process the automatic refill until it was due. Instead they processed it immediately. I was able to stop it, but then they canceled the two scripts completely and I was told the doctor would have to issue new prescriptions for the renewals.
2 - When it was time for the renewals, my doctor wrote two scripts. One script was for a 90-day supply of medicine and another was for a 30-day supply of a new medicine. The reason he sent over a 30-day supply for a new medicine, is because I am highly allergic to medicine and usually wind up having to throw out my medicines until a good one can be found and because he has to change the prescription every 30 days since he is weaning me off another pill. Well, CVS Caremark took it upon themselves to contact the doctor and request a 90-day supply and didn't contact me. I tried to stop this but was too late and got stuck with a huge bill and I'm unemployed!
3 - I contacted Customer Service four times asking them if I can return the medicine and EACH TIME the rep ignored the question and said something else. For example, instead of answering me, one rep thanked me and said the medicine shipped out. The next rep thanked me and said I cannot get the medicine re-sent unless I waited a while after I was supposed to receive it. Not one repo responded to my question.
THEY ARE HORRIBLE! I wish I could avoid them completely.

They tell me that they can't get the prescription but somehow I can just call the pharmacy and fill the prescription. It is the most worthless service I have ever participated in. If it wasn't selected for me by my employer I would never choose to use them. I will continue to ** and complain about them until I don't have to use them and if I ever have an option not to use them I will go out of my way to choose any other service. I am going to tell everyone I know how bad they are and post on social media. If there is a class action lawsuit I will gladly sign up. Providers like this should not exit.

Regarding my experience, CVS Caremark makes mistakes! I’ve only been with them for about two months and they have made several mistakes in that short period of time. While on the telephone with a CVS Caremark customer service representative, I was told that I should file a note on my CVS Caremark account to NEVER process any prescriptions without my express permission. Most of the medicines currently appearing on my CVS Caremark list are wrong, in one way or another. Yet, they just keep processing them, sending them and billing me. The return/refund process is turning out to be difficult, if not impossible. So, if you have an account with CVS Caremark, my advice is to call a customer service representative immediately and tell them to put a note on your account to NEVER process and send medicine without your express permission. In my opinion, CVS Caremark needs new management.

The amount of the active ingredient can vary by 10%. My internal medicine doctor confirmed. I've taken the generic on two occasions and was too lethargic to function. CVS Health made 4.5 billion in profits in 2024 and won't cover a $50 prescription that makes my life livable. They also cut two more prescriptions and the generic substitutions made me unable to walk a block because I couldn't breathe.

Caremark all of a sudden required a second prior authorization for a medication I have been taking for pain due to several knee surgeries. As the medication is considered an opioid I can not receive more than a 4 day supply. This authorization can take up to 4 days. As they gave me no notification of this new requirement I am now at 5 days home with no knee joint, in pain, due to the joint removal waiting on pain medication. Caremark explained that this authorization was required as I had reached their predetermined limit for this medication. So obviously this is a cost saving measure on their part. I have called them several times with the same response. "It is pending". So once again it is clear that Caremark is more concerned about the bottom line instead of the customer's needs. Unfortunately I am forced to use Caremark as they are my insurer's prescription service.

After multiple calls, transfers, and calling the doctors office, nobody was able to give me an answer on how to get the missing quantity. Of the 5 people I spoke with, nobody was willing to look into this further and each time I was transferred to someone new, they had no idea what was going on in my account.
After 3 hours spent I was finally speaking with a supervisor who also had no idea what was going on and continued the endless cycle of placing me on hold with no answers. I have followed up repeatedly regarding the following issues, but have yet to resolve the multitude of problems. Problems began 2023, and persist today. Problems include misinformation, unauthorized bank account debits, incorrect prescriptions, incorrect pricing, making multiple prescriptions unavailable, etc.. I have contacted Caremark customer service dozens of times, via chat, phone, email, fax, and messaging on website, but practically every time I contact them, their representative provides a new set of rules, interpretations, or excuses. As this is provided by my employer, I contacted Lowe's HR, but they advised me to contact Accolade for assistance.
When I spoke with HR, they noted that I had several unresolved issues, but explained that Accolade was the best resource for dealing with Caremark. Because technically, Lowe's did not choose CVS Caremark, rather that is viewed as an add-on to the BCBS medical insurance. Lowe's HR said Accolade first, and if you were unable to assist, then I contacted BCBS, too. Accolade was able to help during 2023, but in 2024, Accolade informed me that they would no longer be able to assist with Caremark. Accolade elaborated that they are available to help with the medical insurance, via BCBS, but not any additional provider such as Caremark.
In late 2022, when I was first made aware that Lowe's was switching to CVS Caremark insurance, I was concerned about having to change pharmacies. I reviewed all of the coverage material available to me, and I called CVS Caremark directly to ask: Do I have to give up my Walgreens Pharmacy to be able to use this plan. Both the coverage details I reviewed, and the representative explained that I would not have to change pharmacies, and could continue with my Walgreens.
A few months after this plan started, in early 2023, I learned that I had been misinformed. I was now having multiple prescriptions denied, and had to contact Caremark to figure out the issue. It was then I was FIRST informed that after 3 refills of any maintenance medication, the plan requires that I have to use CVS, either in-store or direct mail. Walgreens was no longer allowed.
Granted I was upset at this bait & switch type of behavior, but Caremark gave no alternative. I switched the maintenance medications, as per their requirements. The first issue with CVS Caremark filling prescriptions became apparent immediately. I have a prescription for an anti-histamine eye drop. CVS DirectMail shipped a bag of these eye drops, and the bag was full of liquid, as the bottled leaked. I complained, and requested a replacement. They shipped another bag, again the same brand of bottles, and they leaked.
I requested they provide a different manufacturer, with a bottle design that would not leak. They shipped to me again, a different supplier, and again these leaked. I asked again for them to provide a bottle that would not leak, and explained that Walgreen's manufacturer for that prescription did not leak. I asked them to provide that same manufacture, and they could not, so I asked to be allowed to use Walgreens. They refused. Therefore, I have not been allowed to use this prescription for most of 2023 or any of 2024 (unless I am willing to pay out of pocket).
I was very much looking forward to the new year, 2024, so that I could at least get 3 refills before they began refusing my pharmacy again. I can not begin to expressed how upset I was to learn that this new year did not allow for a new policy, and yet again, I had been lied to. It only became clear in 2024 that CVS would not allow a 90 day refill anywhere other than their pharmacy. At this point, I am beyond disgusted with the information shared only as needed, and am desperate for someone to help.
Multiple representatives explain how the 3-maintenance-medication worked, and clarified that limit of 3-refills was for that single plan year. Therefore, now that it is a new year, and a new plan, I should be able to have the 3 refills of all maintenance medications, before they begin refusing again. Unfortunately, that was a blatant lie. It's a new year, and Caremark is refusing refills. I followed up with several calls about this issue, and 1 representative says it is a mistake (and I should be getting the 3-refills for the new year), then the next Rep says refills will be allowed after 365 days, rather than at the new year, and then the next Rep says I am only allotted 3 refills of maintenance medications, forever, no matter how many years or new or different plans I am utilizing.
CVS Caremark DirectMail utilizes USPS. I live in a rural area, and frequently USPS fails to deliver mail. Conservatively, 20% of mail we expect does not arrive at our mailbox. As most of the neighborhood is vacation rentals, there are many mailboxes that do not get checked for months. Therefore, DirectMail is not a reliable manner for me to receive prescriptions. Some of their shipments have been lost, and it takes a long time to get it worked out with them, in order to be allowed to re-refill a prescription. CVS Caremark denies responsibility for lost or damaged shipments, therefore I am forced to deal with the local Post Office for CVS Caremark's mistakes. During the time the lost mail situation is being resolved, I am without that medication, and Caremark will not allow a refill because they consider it to be an early fill. Due to this issue, my husband and I have endured several weeks without multiple maintenance medications.
My doctor has several clients dealing with similar issues, so she is aware of the problem with this prescription provider. With that knowledge, she contacted CVS Caremark to request a price for a new prescription for my husband. Neither my doctor, my husband, nor I, requested the CVS directmail fill this new prescription. As expected, CVS Caremark cost was excessive, therefore we opted to utilize a manufacture coupon to obtain the medication. Without my knowledge, or consent, CVS Caremark then debited my bank account and shipped the medication. Once I discovered the missing money, I contacted Caremark, and figured out their mistake.
I requested the $140 be returned to my account immediately and a return label be provided to ship the medication back to them. They said the return label would take 2 weeks to get to me, and then it would take 3-5 business days to obtain a decision about refunding the $140, as well as up to 7 more business days for it to be credited. Then, the next business day, Caremark debited another $140 from my account (without refunding the first $140). Again, I called to complain, demanding an immediate refund. Then, I was told they would expedite the issue, and this could get an answer in as little as 2 business days, but I would still have to return the shipment before they could do anything.
The next day, the package arrived with the medication. Even though I was told I had wait up to 14 days for a return label, I was able to convince them to email it to me immediately, and I returned the package the same day. Then, 2 days later, Caremark debited another $140 from my account (without refunding either of the other 2 $140 debits). I was afraid to call again, because every complaint was merely making the situation worse. After almost 2 weeks, the funds were returned, all $420. But there has been no apology or remedy offered for how much their mistakes cost me, and my bank account. I have followed up a few times, with no response, no acceptance of responsibility, other than noting the account.
I have also witnessed Caremark providing misinformation for my Walgreens to provide me as explanation for why prescriptions are being denied. Following is a sample of the false responses: "Refills not approved by doctor," "90 day refills not approved by doctor," "Prescription was for a 50 day supply," etc. All of these statements were false. I spoke with my doctor, and she did not deny any refills, 30 or 90 day. I personally witnessed the prescription Caremark claimed was written for 50 days, and it was clearly noted as 30 day supply. Each of these bizarre claims cause me to have to spend excessive time: contact Walgreens to ask what they are told, and then check with the doctor, and then follow up with Caremark, again. I am having to do this with most prescriptions, regardless if it is a maintenance medication.
In December 2023, Caremark DirectMail claims to have shipped a medication to me, but I did not receive it. I was waiting until the new year, 2024, to be able to use Walgreens again. After attempting to refill for the first time this year at Walgreens, CVS Caremark denied my refill, stating that it was too soon for a refill. When I called to follow up, we discovered that they claimed to have sent the medication, and I explained it was not received, and my supply of this medication, for lowering blood pressure, was almost depleted. I requested a refund and an updated status, so that I could refill the prescription at Walgreens. I had to follow-up with Caremark again, because again they denied the refill at Walgreens. This is when I first heard of the 3 maintenance refills, as forever, not merely each year. If I had been provided that information previously, I would not have signed up for CVS Caremark again.
With this new information, I ask CVS Caremark how I could obtain my medications through Walgreens. A supervisor explained that I could request a "medical necessity" form from my doctor, for all of my medications, and once approved that would allow me to return to my pharmacy. I asked 2 of my doctors, and their office immediately prepared a medical necessity letter, and provided it to CVS Caremark. I called to follow-up, and the Caremark Rep told me that the form would be denied, no exception. The first rep advised that the only way for a medical necessity form to be accepted is after Prior Authorization forms have been issued and denied.
A medical necessity form is the appeal for that issue. The next Rep, another Supervisor, elaborated that a Medical Necessity form would only be considered if it stated "Why 30-day supply is medically necessary," and none of the other issues would be considered. She noted that no other issues should be listed in medical necessity form, as that would launch an investigation, and I would see no resolution before that is concluded. I asked my doctor to prepare another medical necessity form with the "why 30-day" detail, and they sent it to CVS Caremark. In the meantime, I was without a blood pressure and an anti-depressant medication, for weeks. I had to request a different anti-depressant prescription from my doctor, so that I would have something to take while Caremark continues to be a detriment to my physical and mental health.
The 'local' CVS, has made a mistake every time I have been to their location. They have provided inaccurate pricing (quoted $25, then charged $70); inaccurate medication quantities (gave me 1 month, and claimed it was 3 months); they have initiated auto-refills (even though I have repeatedly told them not to); contacted me with a prescription status of 'ready to pick-up," and when I arrive, nothing is ready.
Regarding the additions of Cosco and Kroger, neither of those are viable options. The closest Cosco is about a 100 miles away, and the nearest Kroger is almost 50. I have been living in this rural area for about 7 years, and in that time have tried several different pharmacies. I currently drive 45 miles out of my way to Walgreens, because that location has never made a mistake. I am willing to travel for good service, and not to continue being abused by CVS Caremark.
Another necessity of using Walgreens is their shipping service. Although I tend to visit the location directly, occasionally I am unable to make that long drive, and have to use their shipping service. This service offers 2 important features. They use Fed Ex, and Fed Ex brings packages to my porch, and takes a picture to confirm. Unlike USPS that may or may not reach my mailbox, and often has been left lying in the mud at the bottom of my driveway. Also, a human, fills my prescriptions, and a human puts that in a box to ship via Fed Ex. This level of customer service has provided accuracy that mail-order has never achieved.
The only other potential solution we have been able to think of is doing all new prescriptions, every 3 months. This advice came directly from CVS Caremark, via a conversation with Accolade, was successful for over a year. My doctor prepared new prescriptions for the same medications, but with different dosages. That is not an option any of us are happy with, but I don't know what other viable choice there is. I don't know what else to do. I have been trying to work through this, but with all the misinformation, it has been difficult at best. I feel like they are playing a game with my health, and I am not allowed to know the rules. Even if I could afford out of pocket purchases, it is not sustainable for me to buy prescriptions when I have to pay for this prescription coverage.
I am confident that Accolade did everything they could to help with the insufferable CVS Caremark 'customer service'. As a Lowe's employee we are encouraged to report any unethical behavior. For a month, I repeatedly asked CVS which address I should use to report their unethical behavior, before they opted to respond. CVS Caremark is unethical, and as Lowe's opts to utilize them, repeatedly, Lowe's is just as culpable. I am aware how harmful changing medications every 3 months is dangerous, but that is the only viable option they have advised. As I have been repeatedly yelled at by the phone agents, and I do not record the calls, now communication remains in writing. I have no doubt my physician would prefer not wasting time with a new script every few months, but she is also concerned with the alternate methods repeatedly failing.
If there is no notation on my husband's account, then that is another absurd mistake. The most expensive mistakes made were all on my husband's prescriptions. There should have been a with authorization, no-debit no direct-mail notation, on his account, as well as mine. There is no excuse for that failure, in addition to money, it cost me easily a hundred hours dealing with mistakes. Yet, periodically, Caremark Directmail still opts to fill prescriptions, without any request from me, my husband, or our doctors. Even though auto-refills had never been instigated on Caremark, somehow this option continues to ship medications, withdrawal funds, and consistently claim they have no responsibility.
For example, when Caremark refuses a 450mg dose, my doctor suggests that they should allow coverage of combined doses to achieve that strength. My doctors are willing to try to work with Caremark, trying as many new prescriptions as it takes to satisfy them, but their communication to my provider is even more pitiful that what I have experienced. I remain a deeply dissatisfied frequently abused customer and have yet to see any reason to trust any service related to CVS Caremark.

It's ALWAYS a new rx because you never receive refills on Lyrica. This wouldn't be such a big deal if they didn't ask you for 5 or 6 verifications that you are who you say you are. Phone number, name, date of birth, zip code, AND go look up your member number!!! Received notification from CVS Caremark that I had to start getting my specialty med through them as a 90-day mail order or it would no longer be covered. I'm dependent on this med, so I immediately asked my doctor to send CVS a 90 day script four times before they said they received, then couldn't fill it because the med "wasn't eligible for 90-day". This was over a week in the making and by then they couldn't ship in time, so I had a 30 day called in to Walgreens.
The next month, they were again unable to get me the med in time and I had to get it shipped to a different state on the 22nd and was assured I was set up for auto-refill. Now, on the 28th of the following month, the meds aren't here. I've been on a call for 33 mins now as I've been told my insurance is saying it's too early to refill. I am officially out as of today. What a disaster. Again, I'm med-dependent, and this confused service risking me lapsing in meds is frankly inexcusable. I will be pulling all scripts and returning to Walgreens.

I had a rare disease, which required surgery and radiation therapy, which resulted in endocrine system damage and lifelong need for certain medications. Unfortunately, my employer switched our prescription coverage to CVS Caremark. I need a specific injectable medicine, and when there was a shortage of the pre-authorized "preferred" covered brand, CVS sent me a letter to notify me of the shortage and to give alternate medications that are covered during the shortage. However, when the pharmacy used one the alternate drugs for my refill, CVS denied payment. After about 2 months of dealing with CVS and my doctor's office they finally got another alternate drug approved.
A few months later, my original pre-authorization expired and needed to be renewed again. CVS denied to authorize, stating there is another preferred brand I can use, as I believe the shortage of the preferred medication has been resolved. When my doctor submitted for a pre-authorization for the brand that was originally authorized, CVS denied it again. They say I don't need the drug, even though they have been approving it for years and there have been changes in my medical condition. Years ago, my endocrinologist told me that I need to control my environment as best I can to reduce stress as much as possible. I have done a good job of reducing stress when I am in control of my environment.
However, I cannot control this mess and it is the most stressful situation to deal with, knowing I may not have the medication I need to keep functioning and to stay alive, as there is increased risk of mortality for people with my conditions who do not use the medication. A few years ago I ran out of medicine due to an error between the pharmacy and my provider. After 1 week without the injections I was exhausted, to the point where I could barley get out of bed and I couldn't even drive to pick my kids up from school. Now, I am a lot older and I am working full-time. If I don't get this medicine I will not be able to work, and every time I call CVS caremark it's just frustrating because I cannot get any answers. Through the years I have been covered by several different prescription insurance plans, and CVS is by far the worst I have every dealt with.

I have multiple chronic diseases that require a medication to live. My doctor will send the prescription and I end up having to call Caremark, which they either didn’t receive the prescription or it wasn’t written the way they understood. I was told my doctor refused to refill a medication. Why would the doctor refuse to refill a prescription that is required in order for me to live. That was a lie.
My doctor sent 2 prescriptions of the same medication on 2 different days they had confirmed it went through and Caremark said they never received it. I should not have to call my doctor then call Caremark to see if they got the prescription or be the middle person. If the pharmacy has a problem with a prescription they should talk with the doctor’s office. I should never have to go the extra mile to get a life requiring medication filled. Insurance companies should allow people to choose their own pharmacy.

Do not use them. First, their IT and apps are very glitchy and slow. It is especially glitchy when there are special circumstances. I have a medication which is out of stock often. The last time this happened they offered to give me the brand name, not covered in normal circumstances, in place of the out of stock generic. Whatever they had to do in their system to get it covered kept doing weird things that kept telling me I either wasn't covered, needed a prior authorization (which they had in their system), or I would have to pay near $600. I spent at least 8 hours on the phone with them over 4 days, the week after I got married - when I was supposed to be spending time with my wife and not dealing with incompetence.
Then there was a cheap reimbursement for a medication my wife picked up without Walgreens rerunning my insurance to see if the prior authorization had been completed. My wife paid nearly $100 for it without thinking to ask me if she should wait until I called CVS Caremark. It turns out the prior authorization had been posted at the time my wife paid for the medication. And I couldn't get to Walgreens in time before they purged the information from their system for me to get a refund. Back to Caremark. They reimbursed me $30.50, because that's their contracted rate (shows you just how much pharmacies mark up their prescriptions). That was less than a third of what I paid. I would have been happy with something in the ballpark of what I paid. But CVS Caremark is cheap. They care about your money, not you.

Their website is not very helpful it says please call us. What's the idea of logging in to the website if they can't solve anything on it.

This is the worst prescription coverage we have ever had. Several of our long term medications had to be changed because they aren’t covered by CVS. Recently, my doctor prescribed two new medications for me and both were denied by CVS. A doctor and his patient know what is needed for treatment and who are they to simply say, "No, sorry we won’t cover that - sorry bout your luck!"

If I could give them negative stars I would. They have been horrible to deal with. As others have noted, they make no attempt to contact the patient, they just cancel the prescription, even when it is covered and ordered correctly. Then it takes multiple calls and much time to get them to correct their errors. My company switched plans and they have been terrible since day one. Clearly they care only about $$$. If you can send your prescriptions somewhere else, do that!

How can that be when they are the ones transferring me to other people. No one there seems to know what they are doing and only give a runaround so they don't have to cover a medication for a patient. This has happened while calling multiple times for different patients. I’ve been dealing with CVS for 17 years. I guess you wondering why so long? Only because of the company with my insurance is owned by CVS Caremark. If I could give a 0 I would, don’t get me wrong some customer service is great! CVS is a nightmare dealing with insurance and I’ve dealt with all them in my city, all the same! What could be so hard to comprehend? If it’s a life or death medication, you better going to your local hospital. I’ve really caught hell after a total knee replacement getting my medication, and other medications, my grandson, well my entire family and ”NO” it didn’t need a PA.
I’ve spoken to several CS and everyone tells me something different. I call insurance company and they have no clue of what CVS is talking about. When CVS Caremark calls them everything changed to the original conversation we had. While dealing with pain and talking to them will make you hurt, or sicker than you are! I have never seen any company that has such lack of knowledge. I’m an understanding person with patience, but after 17 years, I can’t deal with them any more. I rather change insurance and pay more on insurance so I can go to a different pharmacy. Oh, almost forgot go inside and count the medicine, shortage is an #Understatement. They do not give consistent answers. They have said they can process scripts and then a few days later they call and say they cannot. Which leaves me in a time crunch to find another place to fill it, get them the new script and get it processed before we run out. They also estimated the cost of an item at $0.00 then charged me over $360 without notification or permission. When I asked if they could tell me the price of a drug before processing it and charging my card they said they couldn't. Yet, my local pharmacy can.
I pay for my children's medication and my husband pays for his. They added my card to the whole account without telling me and then when I asked them to remove it, they said they could not because I wasn't authorized to make changes to my husband's account. After five phone calls and 5 hours with Aetna and CVS Caremark folks, I am not getting my medications causing me a potentially serious health problem. The customer service people on the phone (usually out of the Philippines) are wonderful, and compassionate, but the Aetna/CVS/Caremark processes do not allow these people to fully solve the problems. When you get to know them and probe them, they will carefully express they are aware and frustrated by CVS/Caremark incompetence. This week I connected with the "director" of CVS Caremark in Nashville, TN to try to resolve my problems... She was very professional, and although she told me what she believed that would have fixed my problems, the CVS-Caremark electronic communications received today proves that the solution is not going to happen. Who has authority in this popcorn-machine company?
Just a snapshot of a few of the problems I have had: There has been an inability to agree on my primary care physician, on the various meds I am supposed to get on the dosages, and on the frequency. I have been told THREE TIMES that my meds had been shipped and they in fact have not. I cannot even get a change at CVS Caremark to update their records re: my primary care physician (which is part of my problem)... HUH????
The ratings of CVS Caremark at this complaint website prove their extensive problems... Where is the Aetna management? Why does our government oversight representative, Medicare/CMS have to be contacted and why are they not able to immediately solve my urgent problem? My reality that leads to my confusion that has repeatedly been conveyed multiple times to Aetna and CVS/Caremark: My Dr. Has prescribed six prescriptions to me... I know my primary care physician name and contact info. I know my medications. I know my medication dosages. I know the frequency of taking the meds. I know my home address to which the meds should be sent. I know how to open a package. I CANNOT SIMPLY GET MY PRESCRIPTIONS???? Seems like it should be pretty simple.... Isn't this the business CVS/Caremark is in?
What's the problem??? Why does any customer of any company have to reach out to that company multiple times, spending many hours re: basic stuff? So y'all-customers are aware, the health insurance companies care about the complaints that are filed with Medicare/CMS that you can reach at 1800 Medicare. Although I wonder why Medicare/CMS does not come down hard on CVS Caremark where the reviews you are reading prove that 87% of a survey rates this company, CVS/Caremark, a one star with many people saying they would post zero or negative numbers if they could... Thanks for the therapy session... I wish I could say I feel better...! Good luck to all of you.... As for me, I am getting as far away from CVS/Caremark as humanly possible and perhaps the same re: Aetna if getting my prescriptions from CVS or Walgreens becomes a problem in the future

If I could give zero stars or even negative stars I would do it. This company has gone to hell since being taken over by "corporate" America. The call center is in the Philippines since their corporate wants have customer service done as cheaply (and poorly) as possible. They could not care less in the Philippines if one gets their medication or not in the US. They read off a teleprompter and have no critical thinking skills whatsoever. They will NOT mail an Rx until 7 days before you run out. So I will be out of heart medication soon, they will not mail it yet, it's a holiday week next week, Caremark won't send the medication for 2-3 days after it's filled in 6 days, they won't guarantee an arrival date and USPS has been unreliable for timely delivery. I guess I'll adjust to not having heart medication for several days.
I have a unique insight into this problem also since I am a pharmacist who worked in a call center for 10 years. We NEVER treated patients like this or held their medication until the last possible second so the 'suits' at the top could reap in more cash. That's all these corporations are about - making more and more cash and not caring at all about patients. CORPORATIONS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OWN HEALTHCARE COMPANIES!!!!

They needed more information from my prescriber but they couldn’t reach out, I had to. I did, had the issue resolved in an hour, called them back they said it was processing. I called back the next morning after no call from them that evening, the pharmacy wanted me to deal with the manufacturer coupon, what?!?! It can’t even be done by a patient it says so right on the paperwork. I was on hold for 30 minutes while the supervisor tried to fix it. It worked, they scheduled delivery for the next day and said the med needed to be signed for.
We are now 4 1/2 days into this process. My husband scheduled time off of work, it’s better to have someone with you when you take the 14 day course of treatment cause you can’t do anything until 12 hours after you take it and what if there was an emergency and who is going to be up with the baby while I’m sedated?!? They called back that night at 6:30 to tell me they couldn’t get it to me until after the weekend…that’s another 4 days and not a holiday! My pharmacy that I've supported for over 10 years, can't order this ** so I had to go to another pharmacy. I asked the Caremark rep for a reference number if I had to call again so I wouldn't have to go through the entire mess again. She told me Caremark doesn't keep records of conversations (incidents..call ins). Kinda shocking to hear that in today's computer age. So, when it didn't happen as that Caremark rep told me it would, guess what, I had to call and AGAIN go through the wrong conversation (along with being on hold for almost and hour & transferred). UGH!
Finally the new local pharmacist told me that it's pricing creating the issue. Caremark didn't want to pay for larger dose of ** so makes it complicated for customer, pharmacist & physician to prescribe & fill it. I'll have to go through this every month according to Caremark & new pharmacist! It's the PBM that makes it a mess for customers & pharmacies. As usual, it's money that controls things. Good luck getting good customer care....and any real solutions to issues.

The company has an annoying habit of placing a hold on your credit card account for one amount and then running the charge as a different amount. The banks see this as two separate charges & will not remove the hold. Customer service is unable to solve any issues.

They are the worst, one problem after another. Couldn’t even get an asthma inhaler, as they kept having to directly follow up with Dr to fill it. I eventually had to buy online elsewhere, even after speaking to numerous reps. Refills just disappear often, one day it shows a refill next it doesn’t. Heart meds were lost by USPS, they then used a refill to resend. Canceled my prescription altogether to send a new one. Now no refills. Spoke to 4 agents and a supervisor and each time they only made things worse. Now I have no refills, and have to go to physical pharmacy and buy out of pocket because they screwed everything up. A pure nightmare.

I talked to Jada who was anything but helpful. She acted like I was bothering her by calling to see why my medication wasn’t covered. When she noticed I was upset she started raising her voice at me saying “hello, hello” in a rude sarcastic tone knowing very well I was still on the phone.

Horrible. Slow as molasses. Incompetent. Their process is ridiculous and they're only making it harder on themselves. Imagine having a busy life, needing to fill a prescription, and 1 hour + several redirected phone calls later, you still have not accomplished anything except for the promise of a callback. These folks need to strip down their process and start from square one because it is 2024 and I'm not even certain they've recognized we're in the new millennium.

CVS Caremark playing games with people's lives here. Needed my medication refilled and they keep denying it at the date of shipping saying I need to get my doctor to send new prescription. Did that twice then on 3rd time said I need prior authorization. Got that in and they still have that same status, gave their customer service a call and said the issue was my doctor sent the prescription on the same day but it was before the prior authorization was approved. They got that issue "fixed" and expedited my order. I check the next day. Now the order status said "You put this order on hold". I click on "approve shipment " and it's been stuck on this status. This is beyond ridiculous at this point.

Caremark is absolutely horrible! They won’t cover my medications for my autoimmune disease that I’ve been taking for 8 YEARS!!!! They are all of a sudden saying it’s not covered and need prior authorizations. My doctor office has sent in the prior authorizations at least 5x since November and they keep denying it even though they keep giving the information they’re asking for! The Caremark customer service reps are terrible, clueless and incompetent. The medications are very expensive and we pay into this plan that we can’t use (since these are the only meds EVER filled). I’m so disgusted that this company is able to exist and no one is overseeing their horrible service! How can they get away with this? I shouldn’t have to fight daily and waste time killing through hoops to be able to get necessary life-saving medications! Caremark, do better, you suck!!!!!!!

I recently got a letter stating that my son's asthma medication had to be changed because there was a medication that was just as safe and effective and cost less. As I had no choice, the doctor switched the medication. The "COST EFFECTIVE" nonsense is a difference of $12 for me over the course of 90 days, so who is this medication really more cost effective for? After talking with several professionals, the new medication they will cover, is LESS effective and often does not work. So the bottom line is that my son's health is less important that your bottom line. Additionally, the medication he was on previous (that works great and controls his asthma) is now available in a generic form, which CVS Caremark also will not cover. I wonder how many pockets are getting lined at the expense of my child because this medication is safer, more effective and cheaper for only one person and it is NOT my child.

I have been dealing with my prescription issues for over ONE YEAR! Like many of us Caremark supplies “MAINTANCE Prescriptions” and we have no choice but go through this incompetent company. Many of us have been subjected to this so called company “AETNA/Caremark/CVS" to rely on our prescriptions. The headaches to obtain overrides for retail pharmacy suppling/filling a prescription due to inability for Caremark’s supply issues, Having to call every month, spending hours on the phone and depending on who I spoke to being denied AN OVERRIDE and told I could not have an override issued bc the individual on the Caremark side was not experienced enough to know better, being transferred to Senior agent, supervisors, case coordinator Team, Acct management Team” in my case, manager who handles United Airlines.
I would never had known what was going on.
At least with retail pharmacies they call you and tell you that they have a problem with your prescriptions. Not Caremark! No human beings! Our lives arein their hands. Lol!!! To make matter worst I received a automated call 2 days later and told my prescription was being processed and so I decided to call only to find out they were out of my prescription and they would not be able to fill it!!! If I didn’t call them I would never had known… I spent 2 hours on the phone and no one was able to take responsibility and handle the problem. It kept going from one department to another and no one was able to take the responsibility and rectify the problem.
Now I’m overdue by three day without the prescription and will be traveling in a couple of days and have nowhere to send it to even if they had it. Deplorable, deplorable. Caremark should be ashamed. To put so many obstacles in place for human beings to obtain their prescriptions!!! This can be life threatening the most incompetent company to rely on. beware

Wife had her 2 automatic refill drugs changed without her permission to "call in". Ended up with 2 days left when she realized it. Customer Service person told us specifically it was being mailed out FedEx "next day delivery" at no charge. Two days later when it still wasn't here and all medication was gone, called back and the customer service representative that promised "Next day FedEx" lied. It was sent out regular postal. Still isn't here and is "scheduled" to arrive tomorrow - 4 days after "FedEx next day error" promise. This is the second time after running either me or my wife out of drugs (due to shutting off automatic refill) that the customer service person lied about mailing out a package FedEx next day error.
The drugs they ran her out of cause Miniere's attacks. They don't care and their system is junk. I checked my prescription that has been automatically delivered 2X and found out it was again call in - automatic delivery was turned off. Not sure where Caremark/CVS hire the "clown show" that is their alleged customer service team, but they are clearly not competent for the role, and when all else fails - just lie. What do they care if the customer doesn't get a critical drug. Last time they did this it was on high blood pressure medication. If you can use someone else. This company is bad news

I ordered a prescription for the first time in January, 2024, through the Caremark website. I requested a 90-day supply, which was $80, much cheaper than the 30-day supply for $40. I received a 30-day supply. I let it go. Two days ago (February, 2024) I ordered two medications, one of which was the same medication I ordered in January. I requested 90-day supplies for both. Each medication was $80 for a 90-day supply. I received a confirmation that I would be receiving a 30-day supply for both. One was $40 for 30 days and one was $95 for 30 days, so a total of $135.
The $95 prescription was for a generic of the name brand drug I have been taking for a long time. I had requested the name brand drug. I looked at the Caremark website and it clearly states that my insurance does not cover the generic brand, only the name brand. I don't have a preference for whether I take a name brand drug or the generic, but clearly, I don't understand why they would send me the generic if it costs MORE than the name brand drug. Why would I pay $95 for a 30-day supply when I can get a 90-day supply for $80?
I called Caremark to cancel both prescription orders and see if I could get the right ones processed. The young man I spoke with was very polite but he couldn't fix everything. He said he had put through requests to cancel both incorrect prescriptions but couldn't guarantee they would be canceled. He was unable to process a request for the correct prescriptions and said he would have to transfer me to someone else. I told him I do not feel comfortable ordering anything online from Caremark at this point, since I have only ordered from them now for 2 months and in both months, the orders were not what I ordered. I told him I would continue buying my prescriptions from my local pharmacy. This has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience. When I came to this website to type a review, I could see that the vast majority of people have rated Caremark with one star. I am not at all surprised.

I understand that CVS is merely a vehicle for getting medications to patients. My issue is with the messaging as it can be confusing when I receive multiple messages from CVS saying that my medication will be shipped on a date only to get a message on the date I'm supposed to receive it saying that I now need prior authorization.
I got the runaround for two weeks now after placing my initial order saying I'd receive it on a date, that date gets cancelled, then I'm told to hold tight waiting on prior authorization, then... I get another message from CVS asking me to confirm a new shipment date which I confirm. Why ask or initiate this question with a patient if you have never received the actual prior authorization (?) because then I assume based on the new shipment date established that my order is good to go/the prior authorization has gone through. Then, no, order gets put on hold again with the same message of needing prior authorization. I'm not necessarily blaming people at CVS but there are definitely some flaws with CVS's automated ordering/confimation systems... My medication is now one week late and this is the 2nd or 3rd it's happened just like this over the last two years.

This is not a criticism of CVS Pharmacy. What happened to me is not their fault. Caremark switched patients over to the generic for ** asthma medication. The first month was filled at the pharmacy and I just ran out. I called the automated pharmacy refill number then went to the pharmacy. They told me that they tried and failed to refill it because Caremark is saying that they filled it as the 90 day refill per my plan. They did not. They only approved a 30 day supply. When I called Caremark, the agent understood and called the pharmacy but it wasn't open, so he said he would make notes for when I called back. When I called back, the agent put me on hold and got her supervisor, who I had to explain to all over again. She understood but said she needed approval to do an "override to account plan" and submitted a "sales force case" tagged urgent. She said it could take up to 48 for a call back.
So not only am I out of meds due to their ineptitude, they will call me back so that I have to explain this for the third time. Why they aren't just calling the pharmacy is beyond me. Let's hope my emergency inhaler can carry me over until the maintenance med is refilled. What a sorry excuse for a company. I have no choice but to use this company because it's employee sponsored. They have thousands of complaints all over the country and we as patients must go through their complaint process before we can file a complaint with a government agency. The patients are left hanging.

CVS Caremark is contracted to provided prescription medication for Aetna Insurance. They get the same amount of money from Aetna no matter how many medications they fill. I have tried repeatedly to get ** refilled. Caremark uses all kinds of trickery to avoid filling it because it is a very expensive drug (retail more than $ 1000). This medication is only used by women. Caremark will claim that the doctor did not submit the prescription or authorize renewal. I know that the doctor is sending the request. However, every month, I spend a minimum of two hours haggling with this company to get a refill. At first, I thought it was just plain, garden variety discrimination against women. But, now I know it is an attempt to save money and increase their profits.
They won't even fill a Synthroid prescription without much hassle. I have taken that mediation for more than 30 years. Now I have to call each month to beg to get it sent. When they send mediation, Caremark does it in the slowest manner possible-United States Post Office, bulk mail. It takes more than a week to get medication. Good thing my life does not depend on this medication. By making filling medications so difficult, Caremark is trying to get patients to just give up. That way they make more money. Stay away from this company if you can.

Disgraceful company that my health insurance only deals with for certain types of prescriptions so I thought I would try Caremark. It's been a month and I still have unresolved issues. Still waiting for a full refund for returned meds that came over 10 days late partly due to Caremark and the postal service. But Caremark continues to not clear up my account and even have sent many emails to escalate for a resolution. Without a refund I then could not go to my local pharmacy for refills because it showed I had refills done by Caremark and they had not cancelled them in their system. A major crap show and it continues to irk me that I still cannot get a refund in a timely fashion. Caremark should be shut down.
