If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been on a few medications for quite sometime now. They are psychiatric maintenance medications. I am constantly subjected to withdrawals from the medications whenever I need a refill since they never have the medication. My doctor increased the dose on one of my BP meds that I have been on for over a year. Instead of sending it out they held the order stating that they need to confirm I can take this medication with all my other medications by speaking to my doctor directly. Good luck getting my doctor on the phone for that, he sees so many patients in a day that he cannot be babysitting each of his prescription orders. I had to argue with them to release it.

I was on Zepbound, had to take a break, and now it’s off the formulary. So, my doctor sent in a request for Wegovy as that is what CVS prefers. They are denying the prior auth and said since it’s a net new medication it can’t be a continuation of therapy. The only reason the MD switched to Wegovy was because CVS prefers it! I call in and nobody has any answers, I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told “please hold and I’ll see if they want to take your call.” “If the WANT” to take my call??? I’m at my wit’s end and cannot take this anymore. I’m losing days at work because of medication delays and lapses.

I have no idea who to turn to because their internal teams do not care. Oh, and since it’s CVS Caremark I am forced to mouse CVS pharmacies. So even if Mom and Pop’s little pharmacy has the medication down the street, I can’t use my benefits to get it. It’s easier for me to get alcohol and illicit drugs than it is to get my prescriptions. Hell, even my controlled substance medications are dispensed with such ease that it’s kinda scary. They’re happy to give you the addicting and dangerous medications, but God forbid I have my mood stabilizer, antidepressant, or blood pressure medications.

My wife ordered a specific medication for after breast cancer care through them because they were supposed to charge the same as the local CVS pharmacy. The first prescription arrived, and we were charged the exact amount that the local CVS pharmacy charged. They did an automatic refill, thinking it would be the same but when it arrived, it was $350 more than what we paid. We have been trying to get our money back for 6 weeks now. They keep saying it will be returned shortly and that they will call back when it’s to be refunded. No one ever calls, and the money has yet to be refunded. My wife is on the phone with them every few days for an hour about it, and they have received the shipment of meds back. Now her needed medication is about to need refilling, and we have nothing. Horrible company. Please do not do business with them. In my line of work, they would’ve been arrested for theft by now!

First, Caremark dropped Zepbound from their formulary for monetary reasons, NOT because it works better, because it doesn't. It's a known fact that Zepbound is better. Zepbound is also FDA-approved for sleep apnea, but Caremark won't cover it. SECOND - while waiting for a pre-authorization for a different medication, I kept checking in with the pharmacy and my doctor, yet nothing was moving. Caremark said they forwarded the forms to the doctor and was waiting for a response. Doctor said they sent everything required to Caremark.

When I finally called the Pre-authorization department and talked to someone with an actual brain, she realized that the original person (at Caremark) SENT THE FORMS TO THE WRONG NUMBER! How??? How are you in charge of people's health and medication, and can't get a phone number right?? What if it was a life-or-death medication? It ended up taking 2 weeks to get my medication because of their stupidity. I wish my husband's company would use a different Prescription carrier.

I notified CVS Caremark since I was eligible. I have high-priced medication ordered, but I was calling around to find the lowest price. I was quoted from CVS Caremark that I could pay $15 for a three-month supply. I put it on my credit card and gave her the information for it. The staff said they would take care of getting the prescription mailed. A week later, I find out, the doctor had prescribed medication with refills monthly. So CVS Caremark had changed my credit card to $15 for a one-month supply. I was NOT notified by CVS Caremark staff.

I happen to see an email where it was being mailed out and I had confirmed for it to be mailed. I did not read the fine print where CVS Caremark had changed my credit card to $15 for a one-month supply of medicine. I notified the company and spent several hours talking to different staff members called “customer service employees”. One of them hung up on me. One other staff member kept over talking me when I was trying to explain what was going on. Finally, they transferred me to someone above them at my request. She said she would take care of this.

I called the next day to find out if I am getting my medication for three months supply for $15 as quoted during 1st call over 1 week ago. No answer, so I called pharmacy number. This lady said, “Whenever you first start on a medication, they only send out a one-month supply in case I have a reaction.” I stated, “Your company did not tell me that. This is only eyedrops for dry eyes.” To make a long story short, this is the worst I have ever gone through to get a prescription filled, had the worst headache yesterday from frustrating calls, very poor customer service from the employees, and I have never had anybody change my credit card without notifying me of what I’m paying for! At the end of today’s conversation with the company, they say I’m getting three month supply for $15. I’ll have to wait to see if they follow through.

Your customer service department is deficient by design to stall the purpose of your patient's calling you in the first place. CVS Caremark is hands-down the most universally loathed agency of its kind in my lifetime and that is really saying something. Our latest issue, raised arbitrarily by CVS Caremark, of course, has resulted in COUNTLESS calls from me, countless calls and FAXES from my Dr's office and each and every occasion is met by another stalling tactic in the SCAMMY script fed to the automatons that work at CVS Caremark.

Wish I could give 0 stars. We have had issues with CVS getting the billing of my daughter's specialized Rx correct for over 4 years. They do not listen to our requests each year to pay the initial order in full with our HSA card so that we meet our deductible. They will bill the copay assistant card after we explicitly say not to - I have been told things like "oh I see the note here but the last representative must have chosen to ignore it". Every time we call to follow up we are told something different (usually incorrect). We are still waiting (as of April 20th) for the order from Jan to be corrected and reported to our medical insurance to apply to our deductible which means we are still waiting to place the order she should have received in February. Not one time in the last 4 years have they managed to correctly bill our daughter's medicine.

Lately, even the supervisors can seem to struggle with advanced questions and become extremely rude when questioned. The problem is Caremark contracts with the majority of Part D insurance carriers and their focus is on denying beneficial medications that insurance companies do not wan to pay for. Unfortunately, customer service has become a thing of the past and there is no option to choose just Caremark shoved down your throat.

This company is absolutely horrible. They are my insurance provider through Lowe's. My blood work says I'm pre-diabetic. My claim for meds was submitted on a Monday, I have chased them for days. First they said they had up to 3 days to approve or deny my authorization. Then on Thursday I called after my request was still "in progress". I was on hold forever, couldn't get a supervisor and the rep said it would be another day for a response after she escalated my request. These are medical meds and I can't get someone to look at my test that say I need meds. As soon as I got off the phone with them, they denied my authorization.

I called them back, escalated the call and they blamed it on my doctor who so far has always been on top of things. They said my doctor requested a different medication; called my doctor and they said the denial letter was for the medication we were requesting so how could we have asked for something different. I'm 5 days into this mess and have no authorization for meds as I head into the weekend and we have to re-apply. These people are crooks, their insurance is expensive and they don't want to service clients.

An hour later I get an email saying the prescriptions have been filled. I again call and another hour goes by with someone now saying we can't cancel it anymore. HUH?? Then I get another email saying it had already been sent. Another phone call, another hit on the phone only to be told if I don't open them, I can return them. I was told they would send me a return shipper label. 3 days later, still nothing. They were happy to charge my cc, but still no refund. I WILL NEVER, EVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN AND I SUGGEST YOU DON'T EITHER. That is, unless you enjoy getting jerked around for hours with no apparent resolution.

CVS Caremark knows they have a captive audience since so many companies (like my employer) use Caremark for prescription coverage for their employees. I am going through menopause and take a generic medication for estradiol -- this is not something I take because I am not taking care of my body, but due to a natural progression for women.

My first 3 prescriptions were fine, but the 4th refill has been a nightmare. My doctor submitted my prescription on March 9 to the CVS Caremark mail order service that is required for recurring prescriptions. Caremark said the prescription was out of stock and asked me to wait a few days. I did. Then they emailed my doctor and asked if there was an alternative. She said yes, I could use the name brand. CVS Caremark submitted a prior authorization for the name brand to CVS Caremark, who denied the coverage on March 24.

The prescription reverted back to generic, and the mail order pharmacy was still out of stock, so without asking us what we'd like to do, CVS Caremark just canceled the prescription entirely. I called around local CVS pharmacies and located two pharmacies in the metro area that currently have the generic patch in stock, but the pharmacists can't request a transfer because the prescription was canceled by CVS Caremark because they were out of stock. This happened on Friday, doctors don't work weekends, and my doctor is out of the office for spring break.

I am out of patches now, it's been 3 weeks of time wasted with Caremark, and their customer service makes me think they hired people who like to make people's lives miserable and then trained a bot to simultaneously waste a person's time AND infuriate them while never resolving the issue. They claim they can not reverse the cancellation, so I just have to wait until my doctor is back, get a new prescription, and hope the local pharmacies still have the patches in stock at that time. The customer service is awful.

They said they didn’t have that ability, not a letter, not an email, nothing. I have to try and convince the doctor and the pharmacy that I did not get the prescription. I would not recommend them to anyone seeking a mail prescription company. It should have been a simple fix.

My child has to get infusions for rheumatoid arthritis and has been approved for years to get the medication. Recently we have been trying for months to get it because he is due for the infusion and at this point, months past due. We were denied stating that the doctor hasn't provided a reason for him to get it being under 18. This is crazy, we have already been through this and he has had it several times. Then we struggled so long trying to get CVS to approve it we thought at this point he is almost 18 so we will wait. He turned 18 then we get a call saying it's approved and to call to schedule the infusion.

When scheduling the infusion, we were told it's been denied again because they want him to have a generic form of the meds now. At this point I keep getting the run around and no one will discuss this approval with me or help and insist on only getting things from the doctor that they already have gotten from the doctor. This is the worst. He is in pain and we need the meds he has already been approved for in the past. I will recommend my company to switch to a different pharmacy insurance when they ask our feedback again.

I ordered a prescription refill from CVS Caremark and shortly after noticed that my space number was not correct, I tried to contact them to ask what I could do. They had me chat online and they stated that it would be no problem over and over again. I provided my correct space number. After the chat I checked to see if it had been changed and it was still incorrect so I went on to the site and was able to change it myself. And my medication was still delivered to the wrong space number, I called to talk to someone to get some help. That person was not able to do anything for me so another person got on the line and right away stated that it was my provider's fault that my space number was incorrect, I have had the same provider for years. They know my address, she stated that I would need to use another refill and pay for it.

Then they would give me a refund if after they investigated the claim and it was true that I did not receive my medication, no we are sorry or checking what was said on the chat conversation, after several messages I am still left without a 3-month supply of the medication. I am out the money that I paid and one less refill, this company's chat site, customer service and the attitude of the people I talked to is junk. I have ordered from Optum and my medication was always on time and never got lost, I will never order from this place and however many family and friends I can educate about how I was treated when I called by the two people and the zero outcome of my complaint so they do not make the mistake of ordering from this company.

I had insurance coverage, but CVS Caremark did not cover my medications as expected. Now they are telling me that I need to submit claims for all the medications that were previously not covered. This process has been extremely frustrating and exhausting. What’s even more concerning is that they **don’t even have records of the prescribed medications on their end**. This is alarming, because obtaining this information should be straightforward if they are properly connected to my insurance—especially since **CVS Caremark is my pharmacy through my insurance**. It’s disappointing to have insurance and still struggle to access necessary medications. The experience has made me question who was essentially taking the money that should have gone toward covering my prescriptions.

Based on my experience, I would give **0 stars** for:

    * Customer service
    * Speed of resolving issues
    * Careless and unhelpful phone representatives

    * Overall service quality

Unless this company significantly improves both their technical systems and customer service, I would be surprised if they continue operating the same way over the next five years. I also plan to ask coworkers about their experiences with this impractical and unreliable service.

If you have a choice don't use CVS Caremark. They control the doctors and customers and do not care about helping. They care about the CEO getting 1.5 million per year and stock options adding a total package to 17.8 million. These are 2024 numbers. But I can not get a medication a trained doctor says I need.

I was forced to switch from Optum to CVS by my insurance. Optum was amazing. CVS so far has been a nightmare to deal with. They "lost" my prescription, after they had called me a month prior to my refill date to set everything up and make sure it would be refilled on time. They told me they would call back a week prior to needing the refill to get it sent. They never did, so I called them. They tried to tell me that they never had it, but I had the emails from them showing that they initiated setting up the account and refills. They claim they reached out to my doctor, twice, for a new prescription, even though the one that transferred had refills left, but that my doctor never replied. My doctor claims to have never received it. They finally "found" my prescription and agreed to fill it. I got an email saying the order was complete and would be shipped, but the next day they call me to go over the same things again that had already been gone over twice.

Apparently in all of the previous calls they didn't mention that they had to have a credit card on file before being able to ship anything. They finally agree to ship it, but neglected to tell me that a signature is required (Optum had the option not to). Had they mentioned that, I would have had it shipped to my work, but once it was shipped it could only be changed to have it held at a FedEx location on the same route as where I live--which is not close to my house and the opposite direction of work. The person at the counter of where it was held said that CVS was supposed to send me a QR code allowing for the package to be released to me, but they never did. They texted, called and emailed me saying I just needed an ID. The guy wasn't going to give it to me, but after a half-hour of trying to figure out a way to do so, he just agreed to let me have it.

Overall, it took over a week, 6 phone calls, and a fax from my doctor directly to them to get the prescription filled. It arrived 3 days after my last dose ran out, so I missed those days. They also shipped it in a giant cooler box, after telling me it required no refrigeration. Unlike Optum, they don't use recyclable materials for the cooler or ice packs. Optum uses frozen plant food and natural fiber insulation, while CVS ships in a non-recyclable foam cooler. I had asked if I could avoid all of the packaging by just picking it up in-person at a CVS near where I work and I was told it is packaged in a cooler regardless of where it is picked up. Expensive and wasteful! I would submit the receipt to prove that I'm a verified buyer, but that part of their useless web portal is down.

First, we are forced to use CVS Specialty Pharmacy for certain prescriptions. CVS claims this model is more cost-effective, but in reality it has resulted in higher costs for customers than using other pharmacies. Being required to use an in-house pharmacy while paying higher out-of-pocket costs feels unfair and misleading.

Second, customer service has been an ongoing issue. Each time we call for support, we encounter long hold times and representatives who seem unable to resolve even basic issues. We are frequently told that accounts cannot be located, systems are having problems, or that the representative has been dealing with the same issues all day. Calls often end without a clear resolution, requiring us to start over with another representative later. Between higher prescription costs and unreliable customer support, CVS Caremark has added unnecessary stress and expense to managing our healthcare. My wife went to the ER with active vomiting symptoms, she got administered an IV to rehydrate and some anti-nausea meds were administered during the 4-hour visit. The doctor ordered anti-nausea prescriptions through CVS Caremark for Tamiflu and Promethazine. Her symptoms remained stable for the first 24 hours so we didn’t fill the prescriptions. Today her nausea returned and she tried to fill her Promethazine script (she opted to not use Tamiflu) only to discover that the ER staff sent the prescriptions to CVS Caremark for MAIL ORDER FULFILLMENT…and the eta for the anti-emetic medication to arrive is January 3-6!!!

Is it obvious to say that a person needing immediate relief from nausea and vomiting can’t wait 7-9 days for a mail-order prescription to arrive? CVS Caremark (844-443-4279) told me that with my wife’s consent, they’ll cancel the mail order and facilitate a transfer of the script to my retail pharmacy. I asked careful follow-up questions of the CVS phone agent to double check that we weren’t canceling the PRESCRIPTION ITSELF, merely the mail order delivery method. Once the agent reassured me that was the case, I got my sick wife on the phone to give verbal consent to cancelling the mail order.

About 15 minutes later, my local pharmacy called CVS Caremark to effectuate the script transfer. The agent told my pharmacist Sorry, THE PATIENT CANCELLED THE SCRIPT. It is extremely frustrating to deal with this vendor. My insurance requires me to use this vendor for cost savings, and the vendor requires 90-day mail-order prescriptions. Every time I refill, they ship via USPS. My most recent order was filled on December 5, but as of today, December 22, I still have not received the package. USPS tracking shows that it is currently in Alaska.

I have called CVS Caremark more than five times. Each time, they either tell me to contact USPS or suggest that I ask my doctor to send the prescription to a local pharmacy. I explained that I did this last time, and as a result, I had to pay extra out of pocket. I also mentioned that my previous mail-order delivery took more than three weeks, and I asked whether it would be possible to refill my prescription earlier to avoid running out. The answer was no. I do not understand why they cannot use a more reliable shipping service such as FedEx, or allow an early refill when delays are clearly recurring. Instead, I am expected to repeatedly contact my doctor and pay additional out-of-pocket costs. Meanwhile, they have no hesitation in collecting my monthly insurance premium.

When I started this process I would lose about a half hour a day to extreme pain. Now I spend about 5hrs a day in bed in pain. The cycle of this has been (1) doctor submits approval request. (2) Approval request denied. (3) Doctor appeals. (4) I call. (5) Person on phone very nicely expresses her confusion and says that she sees the appeal is already denied but it's obvious I need this so just submit it again. (6) Return to step one with identical results. At this point I have a nagging feeling I won't live through 2026, and CVS Caremark's greed will be the only cause.

I switched over to CVS pharmacy through my health insurance company to get my prescriptions delivered to my home because I thought it would be an easier and seamless process. It has been anything but that. CVS has left a gap in my medication for 2 prescriptions that are not negotiable for my health. The link provided to the CVS app is different from the one connected to my insurance company and hard to access, even though I’m computer savvy. And the customer support overall is abysmal. I have had to get my doctor to send a prescription to my local pharmacy to cover the gap between delivery times and pay for them out of pocket. This is a great way to save the companies money by eeking out medication with gaps. I’m sure it adds to their profits at the expense of their patients. But it shouldn’t have to be that hard.

I worry that those who don’t have the ability to navigate through the system or don’t have the good fortune to have an excellent doctor who is easy to reach and responsive. This has created extra work for me, my doctor, and the customer support team of my insurance company. CVS provides an AI generated messaging service if I can find their website. This service has failed miserably and I cannot justify continuing to use it. The sad part for me is that I believe it was designed this way.

For starters, I only write reviews when an experience is exceptionally bad — and this one earned it. They get one star only because the system requires at least that, and I’m sure most people feel the same. This was hands down the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. While trying to register a new account, the website rejected my (standard-format) phone number, offered no guidance, and then locked me out after two attempts with a 30-minute timeout. Several fields were prefilled but still required manual clicking — as a software developer, I’ve never seen interns produce something this poorly designed.

Calling support didn’t help. First, I navigated a menu asking whether I was a member, doctor, or pharmacist, only to be dumped into an AI agent that made me re-enter everything. Then I was transferred to a “human” representative who sounded like a text-to-speech engine. They repeatedly mispronounced my name and needed me to spell every detail multiple times — I had to spell my name more than five times alone. I’m exhausted by this dystopian, low-effort future we ended up stuck to. If I had a choice of providers, this would be a hard no. At this point, CVS is firmly relegated to “meds only” in my book.

I have spent hours and hours which equate to days on the phone with them! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield for medical and Caremark for my prescription coverage. This is insurance through my employer, so that is what I have. For the last over a year and a half almost 2 years I have been fighting them. I’ve had some surgeries and health issues and maxed out my out-of-pocket both in 2024 and at the end of January 2025. Since that time I will go to pick up a prescription at Walgreens and when they submit it to Caremark, even though my prescriptions are supposed to be zero right now, I will get random charges on various prescriptions of mine. It is never the same prescription that has the charge. I may have a couple that are zero and then I will get a charge on another one at the same time.

Every time I call, I have to go through the story again. I have dealt with managers, upper escalation, multiple audits, and Blue Cross on the phone with me while we are trying to explain it to them that I met my out of pocket. They have received multiple letters from Blue Cross telling them I have met my out-of-pocket. At this point, I refuse to pay another cent. Some of the various stories I get from them are that Blue Cross reprocessed another claim and it left me in the hole. (Not true!!! Multiple representatives from Blue Cross have told them this on the phone.) I have had them also tell me that I haven’t met my out-of-pocket which I did at the beginning of the year.

Today I had someone tell me that they started my out-of-pocket over again in July! Absolutely not true! Today was my day off and I’ve spent 4 1/2 hours with various people on the phone to have nothing resolved. I had another manager, assure me they will take care of it. Again they escalated it and I can tell you nothing will happen. They have put multiple overrides on my account and they are supposed to be good for the entire year. They told me this as well last year however, they are only temporary even though they say they are permanent for the year or deny I have it on my account! Today they blamed Walgreens for overriding charges. (They absolutely don’t have the authority to do this!)

I had asked Walgreens at some point last year if someone could call and verify that I met my out-of-pocket. Walgreens says that they submit it to the insurance and they give them the amount so it’s all on the insurance! I am so done with them! Last week they told one of the Blue Cross representatives who was a rookie with this type of thing, that they farmed it out to a third-party agency which turned out to be another lie! Sorry for the long post, but they are an absolute nightmare!!! If you have any choice at all on who your prescription coverage is with you want to run as far away from these people as possible!

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I was prescribed a pill to be taken for 90 days (longer usage could lead to major health problems). CVS Caremark approved the initial 30 pills and then, when it was time to refill the prescription, they denied the request. I contacted my Costco pharmacist, who said that CVS would only allow me to get a refill for 90 pills (when I only needed 60 more since I had already taken 30). I tried to call my main insurance first (Blue Cross), but they said it was a CVS problem and transferred me. The CVS person I spoke with told me that I needed to get 90 pills. After I explained (again) that CVS had approved the initial 30 pill order and asked if they could override the rule that required me to buy 90 more pills, he talked with his supervisor and then said I had 2 options: change my plan so that they don't require a 90 day refill or pay out of pocket.

Since the drug would cost about $600 out of pocket (versus $30 with insurance), I opted for the first choice. He talked again with his supervisor, and then said that option 1 was no longer an option and that it was mandatory that I pay for the extra 30 pills. Nothing I could say would make them alter this asinine policy. I don't care about having to pay an extra $10 for 30 pills that I don't need, but I do care about having to accept a policy that is idiotic, and I care about the inflexibility of a company that approved the first part of my prescription and then denied the balance. I cannot recommend this company to anyone and will be dropping both CVS Caremark and Blue Cross (since the BC plan we have requires us to use CVS).

CVS Caremark, operating as both a medical insurance provider and a pharmacy, presents a conflict of interest that severely undermines patient care. My experience with them has been profoundly negative, marked by bureaucratic hurdles and a blatant disregard for medical professionals' expertise. Despite having employer-provided coverage, I encountered egregious delays in medication authorization, even in the immediate aftermath of surgery. CVS Caremark repeatedly denied prescribed non-opioid medications, initiating a frustrating cycle of requests for alternatives, only to deny those as well.

This two-month ordeal exemplifies a system prioritizing corporate profit over patient well-being. While I recognize the necessity of profitability in business, CVS's model, where they control both insurance authorization and medication dispensing, creates a monopolistic scenario ripe for abuse. It is akin to paying for a service, only to have it arbitrarily denied based on internal financial considerations. This erodes trust in the healthcare system and demands scrutiny regarding the ethical implications of such vertically integrated structures. I urge a reevaluation of CVS Caremark's practices to ensure patient care remains paramount, rather than being subordinated to corporate profit margins.

The run around with “prior approvals” even when the doctor has sent in full documentation that even the Senior Specialists can’t find errors is disgusting. No one knows what’s going on and silos behind the scenes are playing games with people’s lives. And the silos lie because they tell you the prescriber pulls your prescription and the Sr Specialists at Caremark tell you the PA wasn’t complete when they find out it is in fact complete and accurate. I’m disgusted with Caremark and hope my employer decides to leave and go to a better provider.

I have had this insurance for years since I’ve worked at my job. They are just ridiculous. They keep changing the medications that are approved and how often I can refill. I’ve been on my acid reflux medication for a long time. First I could refill monthly as it is a necessity for me. Now they changed it to 90 day refills. But I can’t order a refill now because I’ve already gotten my 90 days worth ! I am so sick of them. The customer service is horrible. They are rude. I spoke with the customer service rep and first of all when she answered she sounded like she was asleep and annoyed that I was calling.

They also denied another medication I had been taking for over year because now they’ve changed the formulary of medications they want me to go with another one. Because to them it’s cheaper ! I seriously am so upset over all the denials and pre authorization stuff they request then end up denying the approval anyway! I can see why they are being sued! Do better CVS Caremark! Then they canceled the order for Tremfya, claiming it needs prior authorization. After prior authorization was issued, they canceled the order because they needed to verify the dosage with the doctor even though their system will not accept an order from the doctor without the dosage or directions. After my doctor contacted them for verification, they said on the phone that everything was OK with the order. Now they say they need prior authorization again. This has been going on for 3 months. CVS Caremark will do anything, not to fill this order. My advice is, if you have a choice, go elsewhere.

My husband has had this happen with 2 critical medicines. Then I have to have labs done every 30 days for a condition and they won't fill a prescription that usually changes except for a 90 day prescription. They think they know better than the physicians treating you and that is apparent on some of the reasons for denials of medication and the treatment you get from their representatives. CVS "attempted" to contact my provider but was unsuccessful and eventually asked me to get a hold of them for them.

Again, basically no instructions on what I was supposed to tell my provider to do, so I just called her and said "IDK what you need to do but CVS says you need to do something to set up the prescription". My Dr. had to call a hotline to get the info on where to send the prescription. Why didn't CVS provide her or me with that address from the beginning? No idea. Now that I went through all that rigmarole TWICE I finally have my meds orders set up properly. OH and the number they publish to contact them - 888-628-2770 - is an auto attendant that no matter what you do, press, or say, you cannot talk to an individual. You can order, reorder, check your account balance....but apparently they want no complaints or feedback.

Lastly, and most importantly, I did reach CVS OTC, by calling the Aetna number and after being transferred wrong multiple time, disconnected, recalled, etc., etc, I finally reached an agent who literally said to me (I hope her boss listens to this recording!), 'Why do you keep using CVS then? Go to a different store.' NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE IN THIS ORGANIZATION!!!

They have overfilled on prescriptions not selected for automatic renewal while causing me to run out of other critical medications needed (and that were requested for refill). I have tried to rectify this on several occasions over the phone to no avail. Accountability in making the same mistakes and not solving the program (a lack in customer service) is their main problem.

My experience with Caremark Medicare Plan D was initially good starting in 2012. However their operations and customer service deteriorated greatly over at least the past year. They inexplicably cancelled two prescriptions that both had remaining refills without notification. When my physician sent a new 90 day prescription they cancelled it because he sent a 10-day prescription to a local pharmacy to tide me over until the Caremark order arrived. They told me I should go buy what I needed out of pocket. There is more, these are examples. Customer service is abysmal. Representatives do not have knowledge of the Caremark system and repeatedly tell me things that are not true. I finally found a higher-up who actually told me that many of the reps don't know what they are doing (my words). If you have a choice, stay far away from Caremark. I'll be changing at next enrollment period.

I have been using ** for about 3 months now after switching from ** which was no longer effective in weight loss. After receiving a letter from CVS Caremark telling me that effective July 1, 2025 that I would have to switch to **, but that my doctor could submit a prior authorization request. My doctor explained that ** was no longer effective, and that ** was much more effective in weight loss to address my sleep apnea. My doctor sent in 2 prior authorization requests and in less than 24 hours they were denied. So what does that say about CVS Caremark??? I hope that my employer decides to switch to a different pharmaceutical provider, because it is apparent that CVS Caremark is all about the bottom line. All of my prescriptions that have a generic counterpart they fill with no issues. However, my only prescription that does not have a generic version they first approved and now they don't.

CVS Caremark dropped me from a medication without any warning, no heads-up, no explanation — nothing. Just gone. This was a critical prescription, and they didn’t even have the decency to tell me they were doing it. I had to find out the hard way. I pay a ridiculous amount for insurance, and this is how I’m treated? This isn’t just bad service — it’s dangerous and completely careless. People rely on these medications. You can’t just cut someone off like that and expect them to figure it out on their own. They clearly don’t care about their patients, only profits. I honestly hope they’ll get karma. They are beyond shameful.

I have been forced to use CVS Caremark as my "prescription provider", I am using that term loosely and generously, for many years now because of my insurance. If you are taking maintenance medications, like cholesterol, blood pressure or other cheap generic maintenance medications Caremark is okay. Pretty much any medicine that is newer or has a patent still associated with it, making it more expensive, they aren't going to cover it. Your physician can contact them for authorization or an exemption, it's going to be denied, even if your physician has tried medication for you on Caremark's approved formulary list and they didn't work or there was side effects.

So, in other words if it isn't a cheap, common medication Caremark can buy in bulk and resell to you for profit, think of the $4 Walmart prescriptions, you are going to be out of luck and they would rather you die, suffer side effects or anything else than cover it. In all honesty if the local animal hospital could provide medicine, I would go there and pay out of pocket than deal with these people.

Have had coverage by CVS from two jobs. They do not cover any prescriptions needed for cancer survivors. They have denied coverage request by my doctor. They also approved one request and canceled it again after filling the prescription once. They offered alternatives that my doctor said cause other side effects such as cancer. If you can get coverage elsewhere this company only care about their profit. Sound familiar. I work for a huge company who they must make millions off of but yet they cover shit. Shame on them. Nothing good to say but can't say enough how much they suck. Good luck if they have monopolized your coverage as well.

Having meds come to your door by mail is great! But it would be important to have someone that is qualified filling prescriptions, and making sure you get what you need. If the label on the bottle says 450mg and the prescription only includes 300mg pills, wouldn't you as a "Dr. Of pharmacy" send a note to the provider saying "hey this doesn't add up"? Is there any accountability to this system? Aren't pharmacists suppose to communicate with prescribers when there is something that could be suspect? I realize there are probably millions of prescriptions flowing through this place, but that is not an excuse. CVS Caremark needs to take a little responsibility for the pharmacist's work, and hire more, or crack the whip on the delinquents!

I'm pretty sure that I could program a computer to do a better job and reject prescriptions that don't add up. Dr.'s make mistakes that's why we have pharmacists to watch out for mistakes, AND COMMUNICATE, with dr.'s about discrepancies! Do your job! Before someone doesn't get what they need and goes on a crazy violent shooting spree. We are better than this. Am I going to stop using them....no. It's incredibly convenient. But I have someone checking their work and keeping me on the right path. Not everyone has that, and that scares me more than anything. This isn't a business, its medicine!

If meds are lost in the mail they make you wait to replace them and they lose them in the mail frequently. 9 times out of ten prescriptions called in simply don't go through and have to be sent in again. Terrible company , don't recommend at all.

It is very sad that this is what our insurance has come to.

Have absolutely no interest in anything but money, i.e. the ability to take your medication on a daily basis that they have a valid prescription for multiple weeks that is covered by ones own insurance.
