This place doesn't stand behind anything and won't even return anything. Make sure you want it before buying. They won't return items that are unused even with a receipt. I'll never shop here again. I don't have money to throw away and refuse to shop at a place that doesn't stand behind what they sell.

My recent visit to Ross Dress for Less in Lynnwood was disappointing. The store was disorganized, with clothes scattered on the floor and sizes mixed throughout, making it difficult to find what I needed. The staff, while knowledgeable, were understaffed, and customer service was lacking. I had an unpleasant experience at checkout with a rude cashier. The store could benefit from more staff, better organization, and improved customer service. While the prices are great, the overall experience fell short.

I just had a bad experience at your Pearl City, Hawaii location. I entered the store after leaving the nearby movie theater around 10:30 pm to look around like I do your stores several times a month. The store closes at 11 pm, but I don't usually take that long with visits like this. I did find a couple of items I needed since I just moved.
The manager made an announcement about closing just before 11 pm and the security guard walked by to remind me. I started heading toward the front of the store within a minute. Before I even reached the line cache area the manager started yelling, "Our registers are down! It is 11:01 pm! Our registers are closed!" I noted that they didn't give me and 1 other customer who arrived after I did enough time to even reach the registers. She dismissively and rudely noted that she made an announcement and that they close down at 11 pm which is categorically not true! I mentioned that what she said was incorrect and she loudly and aggressively yelled at me that the registers have been closed down and repeated further false information about processes.
I've been shopping at Ross for several years and I know general retail etiquette and it is customary to give customers 10-30 minutes to finish looking around and reach the checkout area. They did this after rushing us to walk to the checkout area then still shutdown everything 1 minute after. HOW RUDE! This was an offensive and annoying experience that caused at least 2 customers, including this one, to abandon everything at the front end because of this nonsense.

On January 26, 2025 I went to the store for footwear suitable for walking on ice/snow; not snow boots. I very excitedly saw a style that I liked, theoretically in my size, where it belonged. After trying to get one piece on more than numerous times, thinking the problem was tied to arthritic fingers and toes. I finally was wise enough to look at the tag inside the shoe/s. It reflected size 8. I took them to the checkout counter explaining that they were mislabeled, showing the tag and the label. The associate commented that she did not know, she does not do the tagging. I was in proximity of the store the next day to see if a change was made, to find the pair in the size 8s, still tagged size 10 in the size 8s. The point of this is not that my size was not in the store, rather, not correcting the tag before being put back on the sales floor. How would someone return when the product size tag does not match the sales size tag????

I am writing in regard to a terrible store experience my daughter and I had on December 21, 2024 at the Bellingham Ross store on 3920 Meridian St. I reached out to Ross on Dec 22 and had not heard back yet and just did again today. We went to return a Michael Kors women's belt purse that I purchased in September 2024. I provided the store associate ** with both the item and the receipt however, when she scanned the receipt barcode she was getting an error on the computer. She tried a couple more times but kept getting the same error so she asked if we wanted to do a return without a receipt and asked for my ID and I accepted and gave her my ID.
However, when ** rang the item up the price value was $6.00 and I had purchased the item for $24.99. She seemed helpless and uninterested in her ability to help us further so I asked if she could get a manager for help. The manager ** came and she did the same thing (scanned the receipt a few times) and then said all they can do is give $6.00. My daughter and I were so confused as we had both the item and the receipt which reflected the item's correct barcode on it - which means we should get back our original value, regardless of whether the computer is having a hard time reading the receipt. It is not our problem that there were technical issues and we were entitled to our money back.
My daughter who also works in retail at a different store explained to ** that when a customer has a receipt and the correct item is on there then the customer is owed their money back - regardless of whether the computer is being weird. ** kept asking if the tag was the correct tag for the item. My daughter explained that was the tag that was on the item when we bought it, as it also showed on the receipt. It was really confusing as to why she kept asking that. My daughter expressed her frustration with the matter in a respectful and appropriate way but ** was unable to hear any feedback and instead was condescending to my daughter. When my daughter said she worked in retail also, ** said "Oh so you work at a Ross" in a snarky way. My daughter explained that she worked in retail in Canada and ** was quiet and barely gave us any eye contact. She made it seem like we were being difficult.
I explained to ** that if we were returning the item without the receipt then absolutely it makes sense that she refunds it for the $6.00 amount as that is the current value of the item. However, we kept trying to inform her that we HAVE A RECEIPT so the current value of the item is irrelevant in this matter. In the end - they punched in the receipt number and tried a few more things and were able to find the receipt however it took a very long time and ** was extremely unhelpful and had a lot of attitude towards us.
Overall, our experience with both associates was poor. ** was polite and nice but just seemed helpless but our primary issue was with ** - as she was not only unhelpful but extremely rude and unprofessional in her manner and communication with us. She did not care to problem solve the matter further only until we pushed back and it is only then when she was able to find the receipt number in the computer system. She did not once apologize for the issue and instead made it seem like we were being unreasonable. As a customer, we should not have to explain to the store associate and manager how to do their job and then on top of that get attitude back from them. It was a real terrible experience.

He told me bad attitude that you should have patient and if you don't that is the exit. He was very rude. I left everything and exit the store. I am very disappointed. I was shopping at the Beaverton Oregon Ross Store near 185th Avenue. I asked to use the public bathroom. They said No! They said that the home office has permanently banned all stores' bathrooms from being used by paying customers - all across the country! All large stores and large restaurants are required to provide ADA accommodations for their disabled customers. And 50% of the population has to take a Blood Pressure medicine, which acts as a diuretic/water pill. So, this 50% of the population has to use the bathroom every few hours. So the word "No" is the wrong answer! Has this happened to anyone else?

Disappointing Experience at Ross Almaden in San Jose, CA on 11/26/24. I visited Ross Almaden with my parents to shop for Christmas gifts--a trip that should have been enjoyable. However, after this experience, I feel compelled to share my story due to the unprofessional behavior of a staff member. While browsing, I tried on a jacket in the clothing section to show my mom. To my surprise, a staff member organizing the area abruptly yelled, "Go get a room!" I was shocked by her tone and dismissive attitude, as I was simply showing my mom how the jacket looked. When I explained this, she replied, "That's what fitting rooms are for." Taken aback, I asked for her name, but she swung her badge around to prevent me from reading it.
I reported the incident to the manager to clarify whether the mirrors in the clothing section are for people to conveniently try on jackets. She confirmed they were and said that trying on jackets in the clothing section was perfectly fine. I explained what had happened, and while she apologized and assured me she would speak with the staff member, she continued organizing jewelry and avoided eye contact throughout our conversation. This made the apology feel dismissive.
I decided to move on and stay with my mom, who was still shopping in the clothing section near the staff member. I didn't want to leave her alone. Later, the same staff member approached me again--this time without her ID badge (why had she removed it?)--and began complaining about cleaning up after customers. Confused, I asked if I had caused a mess, to which she responded, "Do you see anyone trying on clothes out in the open here?" I pointed out that people often do, though no one else was around at that moment.
Her comment felt unnecessary and targeted. When I reiterated that I was simply trying on a jacket--and noted that if I had taken it off and left it somewhere inappropriate, then her approach would have been understandable--she defensively said, "I'm not paid to fight." Before walking away, she also claimed the manager I had spoken to wasn't actually a manager, which added to my frustration. I approached the manager again, apologized for bothering her, and emphasized that the staff member had said she wasn't the manager and had initiated yet another unnecessary conflict. The manager scoffed slightly but immediately acknowledged the issue and involved her supervisor.
When I asked the supervisor if she was the manager, she confirmed that she was the "manager of managers," the highest authority in the store apparently, and also confirmed that the first manager I spoke with was legitimate. On the issue at hand, the supervisor defended the staff member's intentions, saying she may have been trying to keep the area clean. I explained that as a former retail worker, I understand the challenges of the job, but professionalism and courtesy are essential, especially when addressing customers who haven't caused any disruption. The supervisor agreed that the staff member's approach was inappropriate but then made an unnecessary remark: "This isn't your first conflict here, right?" I was caught off guard and responded, "I've only had two conflicts--the back-to-back incidents that just happened during this visit." The suggestion felt baseless and accusatory.
BUT SHE DIDN'T STOP THERE. She continued, "Are you sure? You're sure you didn't cause conflicts before?" Surprised, I firmly said no and reiterated that her assumption was untrue. I explained that I've never had a conflict like this in a store before. She then had the audacity to say, "You just look really familiar." I shook my head - by the way, I was in a face mask - and replied, "Well, it wasn't me. And I didn't even cause these two current conflicts to begin with."
Ultimately, the supervisor apologized and offered a 20% discount as compensation, which I accepted. While I appreciated the gesture, it didn't erase the negative experience. The cashier, upon hearing what I went through, processed the discount and surprisingly apologized repeatedly, even though she had no involvement in the incidents. Her professionalism, compassion, and positive attitude stood in stark contrast to the other employees involved. Honestly, this cashier should be promoted and in the appropriate position to train the aforementioned employees.
Note, I didn't share this with any of the Ross employees, but as a professional development consultant specializing in corporate ethics, culture, and leadership, and a business owner--focused on mental and physical quality of life--I find it disheartening to encounter such treatment, especially unprovoked. I understand retail work can be challenging, but staff choose this role and should approach it with professionalism, respect, and courtesy for customers, as we are essential to keeping these businesses thriving. **Judging someone based on their appearance or making assumptions about their actions is unacceptable!

While I waited on the phone for 20 minutes they put me on hold and while on hold, every 30 seconds that went by the phone (theirs) would ring and I would have to explain that I was still waiting for the manager, after 15 minutes of telling the guy I was still waiting for the manager, He said, "What are you doing keep calling back," and I explained, "You put me on hold and then it rings every 15 seconds again and you answer asking me if I'm continuing to call and no I wasn't, they kept me on hold," and to make a long story short the manager never came to the phone!

Consumers if you choose to shop in ANY of their stores know this: if you have a return and the cashier nicely says, “Would you like me to apply the refund amount to your purchase?” Please respond no and proceed to make sure they finish processing the refund before you purchase ANYTHING else. If you don’t follow this protocol and decide to return the item they applied the refund balance to, and you return that item as well, you will only receive a voucher! You will not receive your money back! This is a trick they use and it is horrible! Buyer Beware! Now by all means you can always stand at the register and demand a refund in your original form of payment while calling the 800 customer service number at the same time. Customer service will authorize them to return your money. It amazes me why they would want to open themselves to lawsuits and bank disputes and try to keep consumers hard earned money, but….they will anyway. Be safe and be informed.

She just shoved the ripped bag into another bag and yelled at my mom "you can't take our cart out of the store!" Well, how in the hell are we supposed to carry that heavy bag out?? 2 heavy bags at that! I had one too that the cashier refused to lighten. Frustrating and we will never shop here again. If they do tonite down the same path of disrespecting their customers and OUR HARD EARNED MONEY, they will start to see a huge decline in sales/profits and will eventually go out of business. Remember, the customers DON’T NEED anything in Ross. We just shop for leisure but you (the employees/staff) NEED YOUR JOBS. Act better or we (the customers) will GLADLY take our monies elsewhere. The Ross Store manager GWEN at the Mountain View store is really terrible. In order to return the items, I went to the Ross store at Mountain View 4 times, and the clerk there told me that they couldn't make returns because the computer was broken. When I went there for the fourth time, the clerk told me that I couldn't get cash back since one day overdue. I just tried to explain to her. The clerk showed me her bad attitude and no patience at all. She didn't listen to me, and said it was none of her fault. The manager came, not only did she not solve the problem, on the contrary, she even said that she would not return the items for me! What surprised me even more was that she ordered me to leave.
I can't believe that the Store manager GWEN treat customer like this. What I did was explaining to the clerk that I made four trips for the return. Not only did the manager not apologize, she also treated me rudely, with an extremely bad attitude. Anyway, I couldn't make the returns. The manager refused my returns. When I asked her to provide complaint information, she ignored me. The manager’s attitude so surprised me. This attitude and behavior of the manager GWEN really damages the image of Ross. ROSS has the worst customer service ever.

From the moment I walked in the store I was immediately profiled as a shop lifter and literally followed throughout my entire shopping experience by an employee named Brandi. I don't know about anyone else, but being followed and pretty much accused of committing a crime while shopping just ruins my entire shopping experience. As a paying customer I expect to be shown the same respect as all the other shoppers in the store and not made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted to be shopping there. I do not know why I was immediately assumed to be a shoplifter or why she felt the had to spend my entire 45 mins in the store following me literally aisle by aisle. I did not do anything out of the ordinary aside from browse through the items, and spend some time deciding what I could and could not afford.
In the end I did make a purchase of about $50, but this will be the last time I shop at Ross purely for the blatant disrespect I was shown for simply looking the way I looked. It is unacceptable and something we should be far beyond as a society. Clearly that is not the case for Ross; where they can make a paying customer feel so uncomfortable that they want to simply walk out rather than continue shopping based solely on the way that they look.
Brandi, as a customer service representative I thought you were suppose to be friendly and courteous of all of your shoppers and should treat them all with equal respect. You engaged in friendly conversation with other customers. Told them hello, and asked them if they were finding everything okay. All the while, not once saying anything remotely friendly to me, or asking if I needed any help, even though you were never more than 10 feet away from me for my entire visit. You need to take a step back and think about how that made me feel as a shopper let alone another human being who was made to feel as though I was a lesser than the other shoppers, and didn't deserve to receive the same amount of service or respect. You made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be there shopping and that there was something wrong with me. That didn't feel very good at all.

Then I was told I have to pay my own medical bills for the damages they caused, pinch nerve in my neck, bones jammed against suitcase, cut finger, sprained arm and hand.
Why shouldn't customers know that you could walk in Ross fine and leave in the ambulance, due to their negligent behavior. Also, even tho Ross is negligent you must pay for the med bills they caused. My friend and I decided to go to RDFL on Olive Dr. here in Bakersfield to do some shopping. I'm 66 years old with a disability which makes it very difficult to walk/stand. My friend is 80 and no spring chicken. I was appalled at the way we were treated before we gained entrance to the store. They had the outside entrance blocked with barriers which forced us to walk single file into the store. Once we were inside, the same barriers continued including a barrier across the area to gain access to the store.
When my friend inquired, the man standing by the barrier said “you have to wait” as he stared at a large monitor overhead. My friend asked “are you taking our pictures?” He finally responded with “yes”. I was not as polite as my friend and said “this is **. I'm not putting up with this” His response was “this is my job”. We had to wait until he was satisfied with whatever he was doing - then dropped the barrier so we could leave the store. I was running late for work 6 so I didn't have time to go home and grab my work clothes so I thought I'll just run in and grab some clothes real quick at Ross. Boy was I wrong. I went to try on some shoes. My feet have been swollen lately because of diabetes. I don't have much feeling in my feet so when I tried on the shoe and felt this really bad pain in my toe it really scared me. At first I forgot where we lived. I thought it was a scorpion. I started crying ow ow. I pulled my foot out and my toe next to my big toe had a tack almost like a nail sticking out of my toe from a security device that someone had carelessly left inside the shoe and now it was all the way into my toe. No one that worked there came to help me. This nice little older lady came over and pulled it out. I couldn't do it. Hurt so bad when I put my flip flop back.
On there was blood all over them. One of the sales associates just put the shoes back on the shelf and put the tack piece with the rest of the security devices. I probably should be telling my business but I have Hep C. What if somebody were to get pricked by that. Neither one of them should have went back on the shelf. The lady that was greeting the customers said, "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Do you want a Band-Aid or something?" Nobody seemed to be doing anything so I started taking pictures. I took a picture of the shoe, took a picture of the tack and I said, "Well what am I supposed to tell the hospital? Is there a paper I need or something cuz I have to go get a tetanus shot."
She said let me call the manager and the manager took his sweet time like 10 min just to come up front to see what was going on. Mind you I was running was late for work by that time. I just limped around looking for the clothes I needed. I proceeded to walk to go check out. I again ask manager is there a paper that I need to give the hospital. He then sighed like he was irritated by this and said, "I guess I better do an incident report" and no if they have any questions they can just call over here and proceeded to ask me what happened and that was it and then he walked back in the back and I walked up front and the line was like a mile long and do you believe that they had me standing in line for 15 minutes till I threw a fit and said, "I can't believe this. You still have me stand in line here bleeding and I'm still standing in line. You don't even me to the front of the line. What kind of service is this?"
Then he calls the manager and says the lady that hurt her foot she wants to get to the front of the line and manager must have said hang on a second. I was like no. I asked the other customers that were in line, "Can I just go? My foot really hurts. I'm bleeding everywhere." They said, "Yeah go ahead." Someone seem kind of irritated. Also what do you expect? I guess an irritated environment causes irritated people. I just can't believe any of this happened and the service I got was crap. It's like no one has a heart anymore and the customer service is not there at all. No. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? That's what I was taught even though that's not always true.

Customer abuse! This particular Ross in Denver Colorado off of W. Colfax Ave. closes at 10 o’clock. I arrived at the store at 9:50 PM. I was looking for a dog bed for my dog’s birthday the next day. I am a very fast shopper and only needed 1 to 2 minutes to find what I am looking for. When I got to the door, the doors were locked. I’ve worked in customer service my entire life. All doors of businesses are to remain unlocked until closing time. Unless, you are working by yourself and need to go to the bathroom or have a lunch break.
There were customers in the store shopping around still when I knocked on the door as loss prevention/security was standing at the front door with his arms crossed. He said they were closed and shook his head and waved me off. I said the doors are supposed to remain unlocked until 10:00 PM. A lady (I found out later she was the assistant manager named Valorie) came over and unlock the door and said you only have five minutes. As I walked inside I said, "You can’t close the doors until 10:00 PM." I quickly walked in and the loss prevention guy said, “they’re not gonna check you out”. In a very rude and stern voice. He was roughly 20 years old. I felt very rushed and like he was being very rude And condescending to me. I went over to the dog section and looked for a dog bed. It took me only 2 minute from starting at the door then back to the door. I went up to loss prevention and said it only took me 2 minute and it’s now 9:53.
He was again very rude to me so I decided to go up to some associates and tell them how rude he was being to me. Two of the associates were like.. "I don’t know what to do," so they referred me to the manager. I turned around and I tried speaking to the manager but that associate said I’m not the manager and directed me to another lady. The lady who I was directed to was not the manager and turned out to be the assistant manager. Her name was Valorie. Her arms were Crossed and I asked for the loss prevention associate's name because I was very upset at how rude he treated me. And she said, "Well how was he rude because he asked you to leave because we were closing." And I told her that we still had five minutes to shop. The doors weren’t supposed to be closed. She was beginning to be very rude to me arguing with me and told me that I was arguing with her, which was not true at all. I was addressing her as ma’am.
I then asked for her name. And she said, "Why are you asking for my name?" I told her this was extremely poor customer service. I completely felt like I was being bullied. And she kept saying, "Everyone wants to go home. We leave at 10 o’clock." When in reality the store closes at 10 o’clock. The employees leave after the shoppers when the store closes at 10!!! Then she continue to tell me that she shouldn’t have opened the door for me. Which I couldn’t figure out why she would say that since the doors are supposed to remain open till 10! All of the other employees except for loss prevention kept her mouth shut because they knew I was right. Then she asked me to leave and I told her I’m not leaving until the store closes at 10 o’clock. I haven’t done anything wrong! I decided to do more shopping until 10:00 PM. And this is when it got extremely more abusive.
Loss prevention, Daniel, decided to follow me not even a foot behind me while I combed the aisle looking at sports bras. I pulled out an Under Armor sports bra. He said “that’s a nice one”, and I said. "Yeah, it’s a great company." He continued to say, “not for you though”. That’s when I decided to pull out a piece of paper from my bag and started to write down everything that Valorie and Daniel did to me so I had documentation. As a finish coming through that particular aisle, Daniel stepped on my feet. I stopped and he was no more than 6 inches away from me and he was clacking his teeth his teeth at me. He also said, "Go ahead and write anything you want. It’s not going to affect me." Still flowing my every move, making me feel like I was a potential thief or something. He then offered me a facemask and I graciously said, "Yes please." As he was handing me the facemask, he yanked it away and said, "Ha ha not for you, just kidding."
I just smiled and said, "That’s OK, thanks." Then Valorie, the Assistant manager came over and started aggressively yelling at me, saying “I bet this is just what you do. You like to start trouble”. And I said, “actually I don’t like to start trouble. I am just disgusted by how horrible and how rude you have been to me. All I wanted was one minute to go check on the dog beds and you and Daniel have been extremely rude to me saying that you’re not gonna check me out and at first wouldn’t let me in the store!! Then yelled at me and followed me around, stepped on me and made clanking noises at me. This whole thing could’ve been avoided if you just kept your doors open.” And Valorie said, “if you’re not gone by 10 o’clock I’m calling the cops on you”. And I said, "OK awesome. You admitted that you need to keep the doors open by 10 o’clock."
Valorie continue to say that I’m a spoiled brat who was two years old and get whatever I want. I have no idea where that came from, I bet she was just upset. While I was leaving I decided to grab a free facemask and Daniel said “Good. Cover up that ugly face. You’re ugly ** and no one wants to see you”. And while I was leaving I said, "I’m absolutely disgusted on how horrible you’ve treated me." I said I will be reporting it. The entire time I did not say anything rude, I did not use a single swearword, I did not raise my voice or use any sort of profanity. The only thing I did, was knock on the door at 9:50 PM asking to be let in because the doors were supposed to remain open until 10:00 PM. My shopping was completed at 9:53 PM when there were still shoppers in the store. If I could, I would give the store less than one star.
I suffer from an eating disorder and body dysmorphia and the fact that the loss prevention thinks that they can call someone ugly while on the clock and getting paid is absolutely ludicrous. That is not in their job description. It took everything in my power not to say something mean back to him but I knew that I had to be the bigger person. I knew that he was suffering deep down inside and felt like he need to take it out on me. I truly hope that someone higher up who works for Ross dress for less reads this and realize that their employees treat their customers (who are potentially buying something and fueling their paychecks) like yesterday’s garbage. Yesterday 6/12/2021 at around 1:30pm, I entered the store to purchase some items including clothing for my 9 year old son. As I was going through shirts size 6-7 for boys, I found a box cutting knife hanging on one of the hangers. I took it and immediately looked for a store employee but couldn’t find one so I brought it to one of the cashiers on front. Her name is Alexis. I was trying to be discreet about it so, I said with a low voice so other customers can’t hear me ”Excuse me, I found this on one of the hangers in the kids section.” I was expecting a apology and thank you for bringing it to me but all I got was “oh ok” and she turned away from me. I was shocked over her careless reaction and then told her with my normal tone of voice, that this is a knife that I have found in the kid section to make her understand the severity of a box cutting knife just randomly laying/hanging around in the store yet alone the kid section.
I don’t even want to imagine what could have happened if this knife was found by a child. Those knives are really not that hard to open. Again, her responds was “ok” like I’m bothering her. I usually don’t complain and I probably wouldn’t have if the situation would have been treated with more professionalism but the way it was handled, I can tell that this is no big deal to the employees of this Ross location and I sure it’s going to happen again, if this is not brought to the attention of Ross corporate. This is unacceptable!!!
Also, customer service is horrible. Not only does Alexis needs to be trained on customer service but also Delilah who has checked me out. All she said to me, was next purchase (which makes me feel like customers are seen as cattle). No, "hello, how are you doing today, did you find everything ok"...nothing but attitude. I have asked her after a few moments (hoping she would still great me) how she was doing to make her aware that there is actually a real person standing in front of her but all she said was “good”.
I love going to Ross but the customer service is getting worst every time I go there. Not only in Harker Height, TX but also in Killeen, TX which is right next to Harker Heights. It is definitely not a relaxing, fun experience to be shopping at Ross anymore with employees who do not even know the basics of customer service, which is being simply helpful and friendly to customers. Treat others how you want to be treated. It doesn’t hurt to smile!!! P.S. I hope that my complaint is not just pushed to the side and hope that something is actually being done so, we as the customer can have a safe and pleasant experience at Ross!

The clerk gave me a store credit for about 30% less than what the tags said the pants cost. She said that was store policy. Who would have the receipt from a Christmas gift? I will never buy any gifts from a store that has a return policy like that. I checked their return policy online and nothing was mentioned about with holding 30%.

I didn’t realize I was charged regular price until I got home. Went back to the store and agent and manager had attitude. Manager said their employee priced Items wrong. I went to my local Ross with my daughter because she returned a dress but when they gave her the credit it wasn’t for the full amount of 11.99. It appeared the cashier that did her return had inadvertently had an item already in the computer and it charged my daughter for an item she didn’t buy. My daughter had waited 5 days for her 11.99 credit but when it showed up in her bank account it was 5.99 short so we went to the store to get the remaining money returned as my daughter never purchased anything she just returned the item. They told us they would need to review the video footage (which for 5.99) was a little strange but ok I understand stores have different policies etc. We asked if we could look around while they reviewed the video and they said sure. We had a very long day but understood they had to do what they had to do.
After looking around the store for about 20 minutes we went back to the front and we see the manager and another girl chatting about personal stuff and the manager Lupe was not even looking at the camera and it seemed that she wasn’t in any hurry. The cashiers were talking loudly that they need an employee bathroom because a customer had blown chunks all over the bathroom and they needed to pee but they weren’t using that bathroom. I stood back and waited a few more minutes and finally I spoke up and said, “Is this going to take much longer? We would really like to go.” She said she wasn’t able to pull up the video and she walked away and picked up the phone to call someone and very loudly said customer is saying they never purchased another item when they returned an item and they are saying we charged them for an item.
I started to get the feeling she thought we were trying to scam Ross out of $5.99. Then she said, “I don’t want to lose my job over this. What do you think I should do?" After she hung up the phone she said "Go to register 4. This one time we are going to give you the money back because I can’t pull up the video." I have shopped this Ross for at least 6 years and never been made to feel like a thief but tonight was different as we were treated like we were trying to steal from them. Remember we had the receipts and it was $5.99. The cashier had an attitude because Lupe asked her to give us the credit.
I asked if they could give us the cash since my daughter had already waited 5 days since her original purchase and the cashier said “You need to ask the manager", I said "Well I don’t really want to yell across the store. Would you mind" (thinking she was going to do it over the phone or a walk-in talkie, no she yells across the store “She want to know if she can get cash?" I was embarrassed at this point and I said "I really didn’t want you to yell across the store". The cashier says "It’s not our fault the computer made the mistake. It wasn’t our fault." My daughter finally spoke up and said "You were the one that did my return and you actually made the mistake".
The cashier rolled her eyes and I said "Look can you just do the return so we can go please? We have been here long enough. We just want to go." She exhaled deeply with her hands clenched and I said “What do you want to hit me?" Another customer who didn’t see the whole situation butted in and said she just exhaled, I said with her fists clenched? The cashier slammed our receipt down yelled over to the manager that she would not wait on us and she could do it. Lupe told the cashier to please do the return and she refused. Meanwhile Lupe came and took us to another register to complete the return while the cashier and customer were glaring at us and talking about us.
We heard the cashier say “She need to check herself” and we told her "You need to check your self". This is not professional and it’s not how you treat customers. The cashier who was ** yelled to me that I made a racist remark and I almost fell over. My daughter yelled "What?? What did she say?" I was so hurt because both times I have seen this particular cashier I thought what a pretty girl. I said "This had to do with you exhaling loudly with your fists clenched". Nothing to do with race. Lupe told her to take a break and she refused. Finally Lupe again told her to go on break and her and other employees were talking about us down to the break room as we could hear and see them.
I have been in customer service for 35 years and I would never disrespect a customer the way I was disrespected. We were treated 1st like thieves and 2nd called a racist. My daughter is Puerto Rican as well as my husband. I work in a very diversified job, and never in my 52 years have I ever been called a racist. I think Ross should educate these employees on proper customer service. I know customers can be difficult but we were more than patient even after we were so disrespected. I don’t want to see them fired but my daughter and I deserve an apology.
Ross is 1 of my favorite stores but they really need to review their policies as we were treated terrible and it was their cashiers error, instead of just giving us a lousy $5.99 they treated us like liars and had to watch a surveillance video etc. These girls need to understand customers pay your paychecks and without them there is no need for you. While the customer is not always right you have no right to treat a customer disrespectfully. I am not a racist and to be called that is shocking to me. I am **. Does that automatically make me a racist?

The security at Ross has gotten out of hand. It starts at the front of the store where there is a security guard. Then to go to the "one" bathroom that they provide, that you have to be buzzed in. At the fitting room, it's practically a TSA type of search with every item of clothing being felt up before you are allowed to take it off the rack to try on. It all makes for a "**" store that is no fun to shop in anymore. I'd much rather shop at Marshalls or TJ Maxx where there is no extreme security measures to make for a far more relaxing shopping experience. At Marshalls and TJ Maxx, there are no security guards and you can freely go to the bathroom without being "buzzed in". The fitting room have the normal polite procedures. No extreme security at either of these two stores and their merchandise is more expensive. What the hell happened at Ross?

Yesterday 3/6/19 I shopped at Ross in Waikiki HI. I’m here a few months each year and I give this store pretty good business. I usually shop in the evening and this particular woman usually handles the dressing room. She is always very stern barking orders about putting the hangers on the bar so she can count the items. Her tone is bossy and annoying. What she does next is actually over the top weird and as you stand there watching her you don’t know if you should laugh at her or pity her. She pats down with both hands every single dress from top to bottom very thoroughly.
If you have 8 items you’ll be there a while watching this show until she gets thru with all of them. This is both BEFORE AND AFTER you come from the dressing room. Ok I can understand going in maybe she’s afraid someone will try to hide something inside one of the dresses but what is she checking for when you come out?? The whole thing is pathetic and ridiculous. The average price of their dresses is $17 for heaven sake, not exactly VERSACE.
Last night I tried a few things on and as I was almost done she came into the dressing room and asked if I was ok and said she’ll be sweeping soon. I said ok. I was the only one in there. But this was an hour before closing so why was she sweeping at that time. As I was about to come out I checked my phone and saw an important text msg. So I sat down to read it.
About 2 min later another woman came in and she also asked me if I was ok but with a very elevated tone. It was definitely not concerned, it was more inquisitive kind of like “what are you up to.” The door was open so she could see what I was doing. I asked her why everyone seems so concerned if I’m ok. I asked her if I don’t look ok. Right away she got very aggressive with her tone and here’s the kicker - she told me to calm down and stop yelling. I said “who’s yelling?? I just want to know why everyone keeps asking me if I’m ok.” The next thing she said was that if I don’t calm down she’ll call the cops on me. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I told her she can call whoever she wants.
I really wanted to tell her she was mentally deficient but I was looking to get away from this nut case. On my way out I got the store manager’s name and I plan to go there today and lodge a formal complaint. When I told my husband about it he said I should have insisted she call the cops and file a harassment complaint against her (Angela) and the store. He’s absolutely right. I just didn’t think about that right then and there. I have never in my life been threatened by anyone to call cops on me, now I have to put up with this horrible treatment and harassment from a cheap store with low class dumb employees??
Reading these reviews here I can see Ross employees treat pretty much all customers like GARBAGE. And why?? For trying to give them business. Without us they’d be on the unemployment line. LET’S ALL STOP SHOPPING IN THEIR STORES AND MAYBE WE CAN SUCCESSFULLY DRIVE THEM OUT OF BUSINESS. Sounds like they deserve it!!!

The security person basically said if they aren't going to let it go, to go outside and fight it out.
I am appalled at the attitude of the employees. All they needed to do was ask the woman to keep eyes on the child and stay away from the gentleman. They allowed it to escalate. The man was well within his rights to request that someone stop touching him without permission. I am making sure everyone I know hears about the flippant attitude of this particular store. Once I got to the counter she rang up my purchases without saying a single word, I paid with my debit card and she handed me my receipt without ever making an eye contact. Her body language and facial expressions confirmed that she was annoyed at the amount of customers and lack of cashiers.
As I walked out the store the alarm went off, and the loss prevention person called me back in. He found a security tag and had her take it off. I walked out again and the alarm went off again. He waved me away and said don't worry about it. I got home and hung up all my purchases. A day later I went wear a sweater and realized it STILL had a security tag attached. By now I had already thrown away the receipt. I went back to Ross the next day and tried to explain this to the manager who in turn told me this type of thing happens all the time and without a receipt there was nothing she could do.
As a loyal, paying customer I don't feel I should be punished because Ross's employee failed to do their job, I am certain there are security cameras at that register that would allow the company to see that I did indeed pay for this item. I also can provide a bank statement with the sum of all my purchases. Now I have a sweater that I paid for that I cannot wear, the inconvenience of driving back out to this store and more importantly deal with bad customer service from the salesperson and poor customer service from the manager.
The worst part of this entire experience is the horrible customer service from beginning to end. Buyer beware the products you are purchasing from Ross. Some of the beauty and health products are outdated. Also, I purchased (and returned) a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction flats. This shoe was not a real KC shoe. The name of the shoe was misspelled on the inside of the shoe. Maybe it was a cheap copy from another country. You may find some deals, yet be aware if there are imitation designer goods in the mix.

Hi my name is Suzan. I went to Ross today 2 days back and bought a cologne, I thought it was for men so I bought it for my husband. I went home and then open just the plastic and I was reading the complete instruction to see if it was for men or women, then I found out it was for women so I can the next day which is today and went to return and exchange line, the manager name "Marcela", said she can't exchange because we just open the plastic. So I want told her I want it to talk to the manager, she said in a rude way that she's a manager. And she object is and said if the plastic is open or if it's used it can't return or exchanged.
When we bought the cologne the gender was not even visible if it was for men or women, we explained everything to her. She didn't care. She was acting very tough. She should not be talking to customer like that, because of the customers today that's how the business is running or it would have been closed out already. She needs to learn how to talk to customers and apologize. And I would be more appreciate if I can get exchange the perfume which I was intended to buy for. Very bad experience. And today I believe there is no value of the receipt at all since it did not help at all. The Ross store is located in Fremont Hub. If you search in Google. Fremont Ross it will appear in the result.

So I nicely explained her that I cannot find the receipt, she told me in a very rude way that she cannot help me.
Then I asked for the Store Manager, she answered that SHE IS the Store Manager and again refuses to remove the Anti-theft tag that one of the cashiers forgot to remove during the sale. I tried to return a dress today that has never been worn with the tag still on it. I admit it's been more than 30 days, but I figured I would get a store credit. To my surprise I was offered .49 for the dress. I was shocked! I mean the tag is still on it and all I wanted was a store credit or exchange. The cashier told me that their clothes are marked down every week and all she could offer was .49. I have shopped at Ross for over 30 years. Ross always mark the tags when the price is lowered. They know their tagging system & it can't be tampered with. So, giving me a credit at .49 is against public policy.
Let's say I buy a dress for $20. I return it for a store credit (without receipt) & Ross tells they can only give me $1. That means Ross has wrongfully or deceptively profited $19. And, how can you keep marking down an item that is not in your store? And, let's say I take the $1 credit. This means you have profited $19 and I lose $19 because I no longer have the item that you can turn around sell again for another profit. How is that fair to the public?
If Ross gives me a $19 credit, Ross still loses nothing & of course I lose nothing because now I can just buy something else. This is a win/win situation. Besides, most of the time I end up spending more anyway. It appears Ross has figured out how to profit from human error (losing receipts) in an immoral fashion that is against public policy. And, I know for a fact they don't mark down each item every week.

On several occasions I have tried on clothes at the Ross in Cascade Center in Bend, OR. On every one of these occasions all of the shoppers in line are treated to a lecture from the dressing room employee about rehanging clothes, buttoning buttons, making sure they are right side out and to hang them all on the rack so they may be counted out to match the number on the security tag we are given. Are Ross stores under siege from hoards of shoplifters? I have never been treated like this at Macy's or Penney or any other dress store in town. For that matter, the other Ross store in Bend doesn't do that either.
I know it must be a thankless job in some peoples' minds but that is the job isn't it? They are hired to replace the clothing. No one should ever turn it inside out or leave it off the hanger but that can be handled with the customer who actually does that when they hang the clothes up in front of the store employee. It would sure save time as opposed to giving each customer the same lecture as they enter the dressing area. It's insulting to the majority of your customers. Save the lectures for the few who actually do these things.

THERE'S NO MENTION WHATSOEVER OF RETURN POLICY OR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I put myself in line. After a while, one person showed up and put herself in a line of her own. When I respectfully pointed out that everyone was already in line, she said she was there for a return. I said I too was there for a return.
The cashier said she was right: she was in the right line. But THERE WAS NO SIGN ANYWHERE INDICATING THAT PEOPLE WITH RETURN SHOULD STAND AT A PARTICULAR PLACE! The cashier was very unfriendly and, I think very unfair. She gave priority to the woman who had arrived much later than anyone else already standing in line. This is an extremely unfair practice. This cashier and Ross Dress For Less, Richmond, CA, are putting some customers ahead of others for no valid reason! I read the policy for returns ahead of time noting that lingerie, swimsuits and jewelry must have all tags still attached when returning. Thinking that I could remove tags from trousers I carefully removed them and kept them in an envelope until my father could try on the pants that I had purchased for him. He's elderly and he says that his waist is 36 because that's what it used to be. He however after nearly a month he had not worn the pants and when I asked him he said he couldn't remember why but there was something wrong with them. He tried them on again and remembered they were too tight. So I put them all back on hangers, unworn, and brought them into the same store I purchased them for an exchange for 38 waist pants.
Everything went smoothly except I got admonished for not leaving the tags on. I was really surprised by this because they say on the receipt as well as their website that only lingerie, swimsuits and jewelry have to have the same tags on. I even had the original tags (price tags as well as manufacturer tags) for each pair of pants. They told me that in the future they will include this in the policy but that next time I better leave the tags on. Today while shopping at ROSS store in Bellevue, WA, I faced very rude behavior interacting with staff while using the trial room. The store staff person at the trial room was so rude in the beginning itself when I asked for a trial room that I felt like not using trial room at all. I took 4 sports shorts with me and selected two of them after trial and returned the other two to the store staff on duty at trial room and handed over all 4 hangers as well.
This is not a big deal to put clothes on hangers after trial but shorts use a different kind of hangers not very straight forward to put them back correctly so I decided to hand over the shorts and hangers to the store staff person on duty and kept the ones I like to take to billing. The staff at trial room very rudely told me "make sure you put clothes back on hangers after trial next time", no "please" or anything else to feel it is a request of some kind. I offered to put the sports shorts on hangers and I was responded in a rude voice "next time", no smile or gratitude. I know ROSS may not need to make good customer experience since they think price tag is enough to bring back customers but truth is I am not going back even if they give stuff for free. Upon bringing it home she removed the price tags and hung them on hangers, two days later she realized that the clothing (shirts, not lingerie or swimwear) she didn't like how it would look with her other items of clothing, she still had the tags (although not attached) and proceeded to put the articles back in the bag along with the price tags and the original receipt.
Since we do not live near the Ross store she purchased it at, she decided to return it at the Ross location near our home (STORE #1072) upon arrival to the returns counter, she advised the sales clerk of why she wanted to return the clothing, the sales clerk immediately gave attitude and proceeded to tell my wife that she couldn't accept clothing that didn't have the price tags attached, my wife asked her to verify with the manager, which supposedly informed her of the same. My wife proceeded to say that the price tags were in the bag and she could match them to the articles of clothing, at which point the sales rep stated "That item has been worn and cannot be returned." Never even looking at the clothing, my wife was offended and bothered and stated that she would never buy from that Ross location and proceeded to leave.
I met my wife at the exit of the store and she informed me of the situation and how it went, I asked her to provide me the receipts so that I could review the return policy, I read it and asked my wife to wait for me in the car while I attempted to speak to this sales rep. I went inside and waited in the line, when called the same sales rep called me up to the return counter and asked for my bag, I hand it to her, she proceeded to open it and turn it upside down and shake the products out, with no regards to what was in it or how the products were being handled. When she realized that it was the same two pieces of clothing that she had just seen from my wife proceeded to say to me "I already told your wife that we could not accept these" with a really bad attitude, I then asked her to provide me the name of the store manager and her name on a piece of paper, she did, I then asked to speak to the manager on duty.
It took him 15 minutes to come out to speak to me, when he did as expected he sided with his employee, he then asked the sales rep to point out what proof there was to demonstrate that the shirt had been worn, she pointed out a faint white streak less than an inch long and said that it was deodorant, I asked how can you prove that was my wife's or that it didn't occur while trying it on in the dressing room, to which his response was he couldn't, but how could I prove that it was or wasn't either. I said exactly so we now fall back on the fact that your company's return policy verbiage isn't clear on what demonstrates whether the article was worn.
There were no other stains or signs that the shirt was worn, but he refused to accept the return, I then asked for his manager's name and the names of the store manager, and district manager. He provided it to me and proceeded to say that the store manager was on vacation and would not be available for another couple of days. I informed him that at this point it had nothing to do with the money that totaled less than $30.00 dollars, that this was about the principal, and the rude attitude and unprofessional of his employee. I advised him that I was while standing in the store sending an email to the corporate office as well going to file a complaint with consumer affairs and the BBB, to which he replied with "that is your right sir" with a smug attitude.

Then I asked for the Manager and of course not knowing who he/she was, it turned out to be Kevin who was also in the irrelevant conversation along with a slim, dark girl with big plait rows on top of her head with black boots. Kevin just looked at me as if I was crazy and offered NO APOLOGY. That day I felt very humiliated and disrespected as a 57 year old Senior Citizen. I don't think I will be visiting your store anymore. Customer service should always be at its best.

01/02/2016 I went to Ross in Avondale, AZ on 99th ave and McDowell. My 10 yr old son had a $50 gift card he had got for Christmas. He went to purchase some shoes and socks his total came out to 55.96. The cashier told me he only had $29.05 on his card. I replied "no there should be $50.00." I told her to cancel out the socks and shirt and only charge the card for the shoes and I would pay the remaining balance. The cashier tried but her cash register froze so she asked the sales associate next to her to help me, he then tried to give me the money and said "I'll refund the money and then you pay for the shoes and remaining balance." The first cashier that originally helped me told him not to give me the money that it should be on my card so I called the card and said no it's not on the card.
She went to get the manager ** who said "that's not our problem" when she was trying to explain what happened. I then replied "Excuse me. How is it not your problem? I either need a purchase or a refund." ** said "You'll get your money on your card in 7-10 days." I said "why would I have to wait that long." I tried to explain I still wanted the shoes. When he told me to Shut up that really upset me. When I tried to explain again he then said "I'm not helping you no more. Get the ** out of my store" and called security.
Now I ended up calling the police who tried to speak to the manager as well. ** would not talk to the officer and told her he told me I would get my refund in 3-5 days. At this point I called him out on his bluff. I said "That's not what you said. You told me 7-10 days." Anyways I want this to go viral please help share this. I was disrespected in front of my kids and without any reason at all. I want to find the kid who video recorded this. I had already called Ross corporate office. Thank you.

There was two, one with a tag on it one without the tag so I took it up to the cashier because the one without the tag was the one I wanted to purchase. Same brand, same style just a different color. I explained to cashier there a lot of coats with no tags on them but the one I had are the same. Still manager gave me problem with the item. She told me I had to pay full price for the coat I wanted. I told her why I showed her one that looked the same and brand. She was very rude. That day there were few people complaining about her attitude and very rude. I just wanted to bring this to your attention. This happened at Ross in Highland Indiana.

They have sales associates stepping onto both restrooms hourly. Not their job! Custies wanting cash or further discounts. Creepiest crank callers. Skipped breaks, ignored cashiers & fit room attendants. Worse... Low pay in light of stress and strain etc. output. Almost zero advancement. Tons of flake, no shows, and resultant backup. Mgmt repeatedly took back such half in workers, who would drop out again and again. And expect your hours to dramatically drop, some stores, after holiday seasons.

I like Ross stuff. I was shopping at Ross store which is located at 4112 Fremont Hub, Fremont CA 94538 on Oct. 30 2016. I decided to purchase a black skirt. At 10:20pm I went to the checkout counter. The cashier there was yelling and screaming at me. She said the store was closed and the counter was closed. I said, "the store is closed at 10:30pm, and I am still inside the store. Please let me finish my purchase." But she refused and asked me to leave. I asked about her name and said, "you are a mean lady, I would file complaints about your service." She said, "my name is Demi, I am a mean person. So what!" I was shocked about her rude attitude.
I put the skirt on the desk and walked out of the store, but she was still yelling at me and made some nasty comments about me. I met two customers outside the store. They saw what happened inside the store. They said that cashier did not like her job at all if she treated the customer like this. I am a loyal customer of Ross. I bought lots of stuffs from Ross. I looked for the receipt but one of my kids had ripped it up in the car on our way home. 3 hours later, I was back at Ross to return the item. I was informed that since I did not have the receipt, they have to mark it down as it is on Sale for the day... That did not make any sense as the tags were still on it. Instead of getting my $14.27, I was given a store credit of $10.59!!! This store does not deserve any star at all. I am appalled at their store cart policy. I went to Ross Serramonte (Daly City, Ca) today 06/30/2016 between 4:30pm-5:30pm and bought tons of household and kitchen items to furnish my new place. I waited in line to pay for the items in my cart because they only have 2 open registers (one regular lane for purchase and the second register is the return/exchange register). I was helped by the cashier at return/exchange register #3 at 5:28pm.
The cashier at the register suggested that I should get another cart because some of my stuff won’t fit back in the cart after scanned the items. So, I politely told her that it should be okay. At that moment, I was unaware of their cart policy. I did not see any posting about their cart policy. When I was pushing my cart toward the exit door, the Loss Prevention male personnel stopped me and told me that I am not allowed to bring the cart outside the store. He then told me that I need to go get my car from the parking lot and just park it in front of the empty disabled parking spot in front of the store.
So, I left my cart with him and walked out to the parking lot. I, then “illegally” parked my car at the disabled parking spot. I went back inside the store and politely asked the Loss Prevention, If “I may now please take the cart to my car since it's just right outside." My car is parked less than 10feet from the door of the store. He told me no. I am a very petite woman (4’11 and 110lbs) and I ended up hauling all my purchased items to my car by myself. Loss Prevention guy at the door just watched me do it without him leaving his post or even open the door for me. Neither the Loss Prevention and the cashier did not even bother to offer If I needed any help.
I understand you are trying to monitor your shopping carts. What kind of cart sensor do you have? Most shopping cart sensors will effectively shut down once they cross the store property line. But for goodness sake, I was less than 10feet from the store front door! The Loss Prevention guy can visually that my car is outside. I thought that, as long as I’m within the store and the designated parking area, the cart works fine and as soon as you go beyond that area the wheel locks and the cart becomes dead weight.
I almost went back to the store and just return all items I purchased but I decided to just leave that store. Instead, I parked my car near Bank of the West and called the store and I spoke to the Store Manager. I asked her what is the policy on taking the shopping cart outside if you purchased items (some are big and heavy). Her reply was that it is their store policy that no carts go outside the store because supposedly they got sued because of that.
So now Ross Serramonte and other location who has this policy, my question is what is the point of selling big merchandise if your customer is unable to take your precious shopping carts out to the store parking lot? How about customers with disability? Do you make them go back to their car also and bring their car closer to the store so they can load their own merchandise? Or did I just got discriminated?
It looks like you need to have a shopping buddy to shop at Ross so they can help you load your shopping merchandise to your car. Seriously, after buying a lot of your merchandise, this is the kind of customer service I get. I’m sorry, a great customer service should not stop after you get money from your customer. That is greediness. Shame on you Ross!

I had to stand in a long line to pay for my items. When I arrived to pay, I ask if I can see if all the pieces of a comforter set I was buying were there! I could not check before because the bag contain one of those store locks. She told me to go on the side to check, while she took care of the next person. I did and it took me a second to do so. I was ready to pay but she call the next customer, I told her I was ready but she still took care of the next customer which she had call and said she only have one thing I should wait. I said to her that I had waited a long time on line already and I wished to pay now and that she did not ask me if I was ready after she finished with the customer I agreed to step to the side for. Then she said, "I can't believe you won't let her go first, she only have one thing!" The customer gave me a dirty look and said, "Yes how could you, I don't believe you."
When she was done I said I did not appreciate what she was doing and I wanted to talk to supervisor because I did not like the way she was treating me. She told me she was the manager (Assoc: **). So then I said I wanted to see her district manager. She said I will finish this and give you that information. Then she said, "I will bag this," and then she said, "I cannot bag this, it won't fit." I said, "Yes it does fit." She said, "I cannot so if you want do it yourself." I said, "No you are to bag not me." Then she took the bag to the door and tried again and told the security to help her give me the information of the district manager. Then she said, "It does not fit there. I am done."
I took the bag and was able to put the comforter set in the bag. I went to the cashier and place it there in front of her and said, "See it does fit, the problem here is that you think you are too good for this job, and as a manager you are not doing what you are to do. You could have told the other lady that please wait, that you were not aware that I was ready to pay, and that I was ahead of her. Instead, you defied me, and then said they had being waiting in line, like if I had not waited in line too for about 25 minutes." Again, she said she was done with me and wanted the security officer to drag me out of the store because he instead showed me who I could email again if I had a problem. She got mad and call the police on me, which make me, feel worst as all I wanted from her was for her to treat me like a customer from Ross, after all I did not went there to ask for anything for free, I went there to buy.
Since instead of an apology, I got the police call on me, I decide to return what I got, as I refused to buy from a store whose manager treat their customers like that. She then told me, "No you cannot return it as we refused to serve you." I got on the returned line. I figure when the police arrived I would explain what happened and why I was going to return what I purchased, and I figure the police would not denied me to return what I purchase, after all we live in a free country. I was able to returned what I purchase and leave the store. The police did arrived but did not do anything. I think she call the police because she wanted to look good rather than bad, and make it look like I created a problem, rather than her. I won't shop there again.

I have been a loyal customer at Ross for years. But recently, on Sunday May 29, 2016 I went to Ross located in Desert Ridge Marketplace in search for a White Button down shirt and I ended up finding it. I tried it on and was definitely going to purchase it as well with another casual blouse. As I exit the fitting room at 2:30 pm I asked the worker to place the two items on hold since I had to leave the store for personal reasons and she placed them on a rack on her left. She did not ask me for a name which was kinda strange but ok. I know that whenever you place an item on hold you have until the store closes or 24 hours. I came back to the store at 5:50 pm which had only been 3 hours since I left the store.
When I went to the fitting rooms to ask for the items I was going to purchase the three workers in the fitting room area had no idea what I was looking for and said they were night shift and when I placed the items on hold was morning shift. Ok?! They did not apologize or nothing and seemed like they did not care. I went to look for the blouses out on the floor and could not find them so I was definitely upset. I went to customer service and the manager was no help. He said that they probably put the items back on the floor and got sold BUT I PLACED THE ITEMS ON HOLD FOR A REASON OBVIOUSLY!! Horrible customer service. I will not frequent this store again and will definitely not recommend to anyone.

I am an avid shopper at Ross and have been for years. I love their prices and quality of merchandise. I was at the Ross on 441 and Oakland Park Blvd in Fort Lauderdale trying on dresses, Saturday, May 14th 2016, at about 11:30 am. I thought I heard a man in the dressing room next to me, so I came out and there was a little girl standing in front of the stall door. I asked if there was a man inside the dressing room and she said yes! Alarmed, I went out to the woman checking individuals into the dressing rooms and was informed that it is the policy. First, she said that it is family. So if a male and female go in together, that is ok... I was so uncomfortable. I was appalled! To think that this company would allow men in the ladies dressing rooms. Do you actually think there aren't men who will take advantage of this policy?
With so many sexual pedophiles... you'd rather be more concerned about someone getting offended than worrying about some male coming in for other reasons than just to try on clothes. I just don't understand. Why would I want to get dressed in a stall next to some man who is a stranger??? Well, I haven't heard this policy made public. Should be interesting to see how people would respond... I am sure there would be many who would protest and consider this wrong!!! I have never had this happen and am shocked it happened at Ross.
I am hoping to contact one of their marketing representatives to get a better understanding of their policy. There needs to be a sign in every Ross to inform the women that men are allowed in. There will be some that don't want to subject themselves to that. What about older women??? Women self-conscious about people seeing them in a bathing suit??? What about women who try on lingerie? Should they stay locked in their room out of fear a man will walk in? It is still a ladies dressing room. If that has changed we need to know. Please contact me about this issue. Thank you.

I asked a store employee to please open the family size dressing room so I could try on the items I had. She refused saying they do not open the main dressing rooms until noon... It was abt 10 am when I was there. I ask again if maybe one of the 2 security men could stand near the dressing room while I tried on the clothes. Again I was denied. I ask to set my basket to the side so I could go out to my car and get my wallet. I had to ask 3 times because the employees were on a cell phone trying to figure out who sang the song that was playing over the intercom, with the theft control guy as well. When I came back in after being gone maybe 2 minutes, my basket was gone and apparently this was hilarious to the cashier and theft employee. While another cashier called someone to ask about the basket, whatever response she was given was hilarious as well... she then turned to me as in between laughs explained "they had no idea too what happened with the basket. She didn't know what to tell me" which again was hilarious but even more so this time around.
So I went and got another basket and went out to find the items I had originally in my first basket. I never found 2 pair of sandals or a dress I had in my size. I then went to the jewelry counter and stood there for over 20 minutes waiting to be helped. All 3 cashiers looked at me several times as well as the theft employee. I even held my hand up to show I was needing help as well as mouthing that I wanted a necklace and to look at a ring. No one ever came, instead they picked up the intercom to tell everyone that it was 10am and would be closing in 30 minutes, to please bring all items to the front. And every 5 minutes after that the same message would come across the intercom. About the 3rd time the girl didn't hang up before she said if we could get the dumb ass ** people outta here... then a gasp and click!
Several girls shopping together next to me were extremely pissed and were saying stuff loudly as walking to the front, they ask for a manager and were told she/he was gone already. Then the 2 ** cashiers start laughing hysterically until the theft employee heard and joined in. The last cashier was checking someone out and was actually the only one that didn't overact this laugh the others were doing. She apologized to me and another woman behind me. Well... until I was about to walk out the door and the comment over the intercom was repeated just between them and then they all started laughing again and really overdoing to the point of it sounding like hyenas and not humans! It was embarrassing and utterly ridiculous!!!

It is the most unprofessional, ignorant, and mean spirited company I have ever had the displeasure of working for... as normal there is always that one person that is annoying but why Ross has kept this person is beyond me... Over a headset worn by at least 6 other people, because I had the nerve to ask where my relief was, the manager informed me that just because my schedule says I leave at 2 that does not mean I leave at 2 - I have also been scheduled, gone in and told to go home 2 hrs later that they were not busy... For over 1 yr now normally working in the fitting room, I have always when raining, taken my umbrella which is large stand up kind and set it in the corner of the fitting room... After a year, she decided that it needed to be in the break room so she made me late for work as I refused to do so because if the employees eat your lunch, I sure am not going to leave them an umbrella so I took it back to my car.
Also, I have almost every morning shift had to wait outside for them to let me in and they have made me late that way too... This one day... I was due in at 9:30 - the computer will not let you sign in before your scheduled time, this one day the doors were open but my watch said 9:31 and she had the gall to scream at me for being late... by normal employment standards there is a 7 minute window that they allow unless you abuse it... there is no training...
If you work in the fitting room, I suggest you have a few other hands attached to you as not only do they want you to check the men's and women's fitting rooms every half hour (by the way you are supposed to do this without leaving your post), you also have to check the women's and MEN'S bathrooms, answer the phone, organize go backs on a rack and because I guess they do not have enough help in the stock room to do their job they bring you out a bin and finger point at you that you will have this done before you leave... I have a back injury with Dr's notes furnished and also am on 100 percent disability - I furnished them with 4 pages of accommodations that the are required to do for a person with my disability and they responded with a stack of papers requiring me to sign away my hipaa rights and also wanting my Dr to state what was wrong, so they could see if I had a disability that required accommodation...
My Dr. was in shock... he said, "Do they not know that the state of Florida has already decided that for them???" Nope - he threw in the towel when it started asking if I had problems with reproduction... he told me he was just going to flat out report them to the ADA as it did not appear they knew who they were... Dr. said if they asked, to inform them more than likely they will be heavily fined... especially of concern to him was that they stated to give the paperwork back to me vs the normal procedure of faxing it back to the hr dept... He also noted that as his last name was **... and nowhere did they ask for his license number, I could have just filled out the paperwork myself as seeing he does not live with me, he does not know if I have trouble falling asleep...

I bought a few items on Jan 23, 2016. All of the items except for one Pink/Orange top were grey or black. When I got home I took the items out of the brown paper bag and did not realize that the bright pink top (Neon) was not in the bag. I realized it a day or so later and called to say that I did not get this top. I was told that they needed to check the video on Reg. 06 to see if the salesperson put the top in the bag and they would call me back. I did not hear back from anyone because they did not take my number, so I called back and spoke with the store manager, Will, who said he would check the video again. He called me back saying that it did get into the bag and that he would give me my money back regardless. He also mentioned that this was his Assistant Manager who sold the items to me, like he could trust her word over mine (the customer).
Today 1/29/16 I went into the store with my receipt (I called this morning to tell them I was coming) and spoke directly with the security lady at the door. She spoke with Will on her headphones, who then told her that the video showed I got the top and he would not give me my money back or another top. I showed her my receipt and she said I could see the video if I want and I declined. Angry, I told her that I am a Doctor and Insurance agent, and a loyal customer! This was like being accused of stealing this $17.99 shirt. I told her I would never shop here again. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years and never been treated so badly as this. I believe that your Assistant Manager at this store knew she was on camera when she packed my bag and either dropped the shirt on the floor or took it for herself.
I do not care about the money, it is the principle here, that is important. I know I did not get that shirt. I checked my car, dresser, closet, and the bag. It did not come home with me. This is not how to treat customers. I hope someone other than these two managers will take a good look at the video. I am sure that top did not get into my bag.

I brought them back to ROSS 5 days later with the receipt and the only form of refund that the manager on duty could give was either store credit or deposit the money back into my debit card. Remember, this is a MANAGER. She tried to do the refund but did not know how, so she told me the only thing I could do is take a store credit. I do NOT want a store credit, I want my money back! It's $30.92 but it's mine! So I left the store, put the items into my car and as I was driving away the manager ran into the parking lot and said that the refund went through, an associate taught her how to do a refund so I gave her the items back.
And here it is five days later and no refund. I called ROSS and talked to the store manager and she told me that it's my bank's fault that they are finished with the transaction. I called my bank and they told me that ROSS never made an attempt to deposit money into my account and also said that debit is the same as cash that it could go through instantaneously!!! On December 26, 2015, I took my mother to the Ross location in Hyattsville, Maryland at The Mall at Prince Georges. She was in town visiting from Ohio. She loves to visit several Ross locations when she is here since there is no Ross in Ohio. We purchased her a gift card for Christmas and I took her there to spend it. Our experience at this location was horrific. A woman named Autumn yelled disrespectfully at my mom when she failed to hear the first called that the next line was open. The store was in disarray and the majority of the workers were avoiding registers as the line was wrapped around the front of the store.
After I corrected Autumn for yelling at my mother she yelled, "I'm sick of these ** ** customers!" She slammed her register door as coin fell all over the floor and yelled "I'm clocking out!" as she walked off the floor in a hostile manner leaving others to service a store filled with people and two open registers. I asked who the manager was on duty and the manager Devin seemed to try to avoid intervening in this situation. When I asked to speak to him he stated that everyone was wrong. When I asked him if he saw how she spoke to my mother he stated that he missed the beginning. He failed to assert himself as a manager and appeared cowardly when addressing the behavior of an out of control associate.
When we left the store customers came outside and told us that they witnessed the whole thing and that they were sorry that we experienced that. One man said, "Don't expect good customer service out here, you won't get it!" As a family tradition, I take my mother to multiple Ross locations in Maryland, DC and Virginia when she visits. This experience was disgraceful and I regret that my mother (a senior citizen) had this experience. Please direct me to someone that can assist me and or provide feedback regarding my experience.

So when my daughter came out with one shirt that she was going to purchase the girl took the shirt and patted it down and turned it inside out on the hanger. I couldn't figure out WTF she was looking for. Then another Mexican lady came out with 7 items and the worker just let her walk out and put the items in her cart. Tried to return and since no receipt, or tags and had washed them they wouldn't do anything. I understand policy but these were defective, only wanted credit. It was unbelievable to me....FURIOUS.

I am a frequent customer to Ross. I come every Wednesday to see what's new. Recently a new Ross in Springfield opened so I was eager to check it out. I was followed through literally every single aisle of children's clothes by this security. He was literally just feet behind me every moment so I finally asked him to please step back because he was making me very uncomfortable. He replied "no I won't. It's my job to follow your steps since you are a returning customer". (Days prior I was at the Eugene ross) That was his exact words. I didn't know being a loyal customer was reason to be harassed! If anything we should be treated better. Very upset. I left in tears. His name is Holden from Gateway Mall Springfield Ross. Can I please get a response? I want to file a complaint on him. He was extremely rude and I was treated unfairly as a big Ross fan.

Specifically stopped by to shop at Ross @ past 9 pm as we are heading home to Canada. We purchased a home decor for $19.99. It was approximately 21 inches high. When the cashier finished ringing our purchase, she took out a small shopping bag not fitted to the statue. My husband asked if she can wrap or bag the item properly because it may very well break en route to Canada. She said very loudly that she can only provide one bag an item, though I told her that we have a very long drive home and we only want to protect the item we bought for a gift to my family.
She was so sure that it was the store policy not to give us another decent bag for the item. She noticed that we were not happy about, so she spoke to the manager on duty so loudly but the manager said they don't wrap until this cashier re-discovered that they have paper tissues she can use to wrap for protection while the manager mentioned about this tissues, She would only wrap the item ones but we insisted that we need more than one because of the height of the item. Then she said, she thought we asked for bubble wrap and we didn't, when we know discounted stores like Ross do not have such service.
My husband did the wrapping and asked for tape to secure the wrap while she watched us with a smirk on her face. Again she did not bother to bag the item in the appropriate bag. What is it about their bags they are so stingy about? To add insult to the injury, I asked if she gave me my receipt, she looked at me as if I come from another planet and told me my receipt is there for me to take from her machine and did not have any decency to hand me my receipt because I was a customer spending money in their store to keep her job? Talk about rudeness!
Having attitude like her should not be working in the retail industry and that's when the reputation of the company is compromised. In Canada, whether it is a discount or high end store, sales associates value customer service because customers are their bread and butter. It is a fact that Canadians are known to be respectful and decent because I saw the difference shopping at the border. I won't say I will not shop at Ross again, but I do think that management should be on top of the sales associate to be more professional when it comes to customer service. Sales associate needs thorough training and managers need re-training otherwise your company's reputation and success will be ruined sooner or later. Customers who have been treated unfairly might forgive but won't forget and this will spread through mouth.

Saturday having just manager and 2 associate on the register, no one on the floor. The waiting line was over 1 hour. What I could not understand, the store had 2 security by the door just talking not helping customers. Talk to the manager, he said he had few call offs, he was at the register. My view he should have been on the phone to get some help. Poor management... poor service... store looked horrible.

I honestly hate to do this, because I have had a close relationship with Ross since I was a teenager back in the early 2000's. Now, my own family shops here. For demographic purposes I will tell you a bit about ourselves. We are a mixed couple (black woman, white man), and we are younger than 25, but we are professionals. I am an author and my husband works in upper management for a large company. We have two young children, both under 5. We own our cars, and our home. Surely you would think that people such as ourselves wouldn't be thieves? I understand that it's possible for the most unexpected people to steal, but how likely is it?
THE GOOD: Ross's has affordable and stylish clothing. I adore their selections and how I can easily get a wardrobe update for less than $100. They have unique clothing as well. I'm not a brand snob, though I do shop in places that have nicer brands from time to time, but I am more concerned with how it looks and the quality. Ross's has never let me down here. For girl's clothing, I love it because my daughter looks so unique! Not always dressed in Carters and Osh Kosh, or Old Navy. I typically go to TJ Maxx, Ross, and Amazon for my kid's clothes, but I have spent the most with Ross. They also have a decent home decor section. I enjoy the fact that they are open a bit later because sometimes I'm a hermit and I write well into the evening, so I don't always get out of the house in the early day. Sadly, this is where the good ends...
THE BAD: Ross's has some serious issues with organization. Now before employees try to defend this (I've already read the reviews), let me put my two cents in. I have SEEN employees standing around doing nothing, talking, and even on their cellphones instead of working. I have SEEN employees tossing items wherever. I have also seen a small group of harder workers trying to do their jobs with a lack of help. I believe more consistent training and management is in order here.
Dressing room attendants and other employees come as a mixed bag. Some are extremely friendly, and others are downright awful to deal with. Cashiers don't give you enough time to collect your bags, change, and receipt before they start checking someone out right on top of you. I usually have two children with me, bags to carry, and money to put away. Instead, I'm usually running out the door stuffing things everywhere because I feel like I'm "In the way." I good solution to this issue would be to go ahead and put the receipt in the bag for the customer, and give a few extra seconds for them to get themselves situated again. Other stores do it, why not this one?
As far as the bad that others talk about... I don't care about rowdy kids and damaged merchandise. Why? Because kids are the customers' responsibility, not the stores. I control my kids, why can't others? Damaged merchandise is to be expected of a heavily discounted store like Ross. Just check it before you buy it. It's also obvious that having a receipt is important if you need to return something. You have to show proof you bought it. I don't even attempt to return something if I misplaced the receipt. I also don't buy anything unless I have planned for it so I'm not hurting for cash and relying on a returned product to pad my pocket in times of need. I am far more concerned with inconsistent attitudes throughout the store. It's such a mixed bag it's ridiculous.
THE UGLY: This is where things get bad. Despite what I have told you about myself above, I have had some unsettling issues. I understand you can't necessarily pinpoint good people, but there are clues to it. I am always smiling. My children keep me too busy to consider stealing. There's no way I would get away with something like that since they draw so much attention to us anyway when they get excited. :) Despite all of this, I get profiled regularly, and LIED to about it!
At first, I didn't say anything. I was above that, and I knew what I was there to do. I also shop frequently, each time spending at least $50 a visit if not more. I go at least twice a month. I wear crossbodies, so my purses are small. I also never wear loose clothing, or at least I should say my clothes fit me. Somehow despite all of this, I get followed. I know why, but it's sad. I don't even mention it since people get even more offended that you suggest their being prejudice than the person they're discriminating against!
Despite this, I am happy to say it seems the following has gotten a bit lighter, hence two star instead of one star review. They keep their distance so you're not embarrassed now, and they have people not wearing blatant loss prevention jackets and are instead dressed normally. Does this make it okay? I can't really say. I suppose it's better because others aren't aware of it, but they still hone in on me and my family when we come in.
My husband and I worked hard to succeed in life, and though we've reached that point, I guess ignorance and bigotry prevails at the end of the day. We don't get respected when we shop, and to me that's unfair. I've also been treated rudely and stared at like some kind of freak when I walk in by the employees too. Why this happens, I can only guess...
To end my complaint, I will say this: Ross is a great store because they have great prices, large selection, and unique styles that are still on trend. They could do better with their training, and they could be more considerate of their customer's feelings when they shop here. I foresee issues in their future if they don't change their loss prevention tactics. I'm glad they're improving, but there is still a long way to go.

I went to Grants Pass, Oregon Ross on the 28 of July 2015 and purchased $435.17 worth of items. I am stationed in Italy and they don't have a variety of clothes for my kids, and it is a lot more expensive, so I figured since I am visiting my parents in the U.S. I should stock up on clothes for them for the new school year. My original purchase was Store: 1124, Reg: 01 Tran: **, Date: 7/28/2015, Time: 3:30 Assoc: **. My receipt # **. This representative (cashier) was really nice and informed us that she was working there for about a week.
When I got to my parents house, I did an inventory of all my items and realized one product that I purchased was charged twice. It was 400123477688 - Black/White (06A) kids shoes for $14.99. I tried on one of the items that was for me and two other items were two small for my son. I decided to return 3 items and get my money back from the extra (double) charge from the item I have listed above. The return or money back from the double charge was a total of $34.16.
On the 31st of July 2015 I went back to the same store and stood in the return and customer service line. The lady working at the customer service counter seen me and instead of helping me (I was the only one in line for customer service and there was another lady coming up to the purchase line but was not there when I was waiting) she helped the other lady making a purchase. I ignored it and thought maybe she just didn't see me. Once she was finished with that transaction, the customer service lady motioned for me to come over. I explained the situation about the double purchase and she treated me like I was lying to her. Because my purchase was such a high amount she needed to double check with her manager to see if I could get my money back.
I wasn't returning my whole purchase. I spend a lot of money at Ross and I just wanted the double transaction and a few items that I was returning refunded. She did not want to cooperate with me whatsoever and she was acting like I was trying to get free money and cheat the system. She called the manager and explains the story and the manager said that she would have to go back and review that footage from that time and date to see if I was actually double charged. The manager also said it would take about 30-45 min. It kind of seemed like they wanted to discourage me from waiting or make me scared, like I was lying and they were going to prove it on the video surveillance. I told them that I would wait, at this time I was getting really mad.
About 20-25 min. later the manager came back to the counter and told the cashier I could get a refund on my double charge and my returns. The cashier lady was not happy about that and started being even ruder to me. I had nothing to hide and nothing to lie about. I spend a ton of money in that store. I was a great customer. I understand if that is their policy and procedures, but to be treated like I was a criminal and I was stealing. The cashier even said, "Well we have to double check because you made such a big purchase." I even explained to her that I am in the military, station at Aviano, Italy, and I wanted to do all my kids school shopping at one time while I was in the U.S. She just looked at me and gave me a face like "yeah right, like I am going to believe you".
I love Ross. It's my favorite store to shop at, wherever I am stationed in the U.S. I purchase most of my clothes and my kids clothes at this store. They have the greatest deals. But if this is how I am going to be treated when I am a loyal customer, then I don't want anything to do with Ross. I would hope that you would screen your cashiers or employees to be more customer friendly and just have what you should give anyone, common courtesy. She had no customer service; she was rude, disrespectful and treated me like I was beneath her. This is not a store or place I would like to associate myself with if this is the kind of business you are running and this behavior is acceptable to your company. This second transaction with my return was Store: 1124, Reg: 06 Tran: **, Date: 7/31/2015, Time: 4:11 Assoc: **. My receipt # **.

I shop at the Ross at Hollywood and Western in California all the time. I went to Ross on Monday, August 17th, to purchase a casual outfit for my upcoming trip. I purchased an outfit, a sweater for the plane, sunglasses, and pillowcases for my home. When I got home I realized the shirt had a stain on the sleeve. I was disappointed because I'm usually pleased with the quality of Ross's merchandise. I decided to return the shirt and pants the next day, Tuesday, August 18th, and keep the other items. I walked into the Ross, and presented the unworn shirt and pants that I purchased the day before.
I noticed the cashier (Zuleyma) checking the item and making faces but she never communicated what the issue was. I asked, "is there a problem?" She then informed me that the shirts description on the receipt says it's a black and white tank top, but the shirt is an orange and black blouse. The tag on the blouse also has the incorrect description, so common sense tells you that the shirt was tagged incorrectly. I immediately informed her that the store must have labeled the shirt incorrectly and the store should have caught that before they placed the shirt on the sales floor. She then began to inspect the shirt and told me it was damaged, because of the stain on the sleeve. I explained to her that it's the reason I'm returning the shirt.
She explained to me that I have to wait while they check the video camera to see if I'm returning the $12.99 shirt that I purchased! I was insulted, because she's implying that I'm lying or returning a different shirt. I asked to speak to her manager. At this time Cynthia and Anna comes over and another employee named Baby is laughing and speaking in Spanish. Which I found to be insulting and unprofessional. You don't make your customers suffer or feel that they have to defend themselves because of your store's incompetence. I explained the situation to the manager, and told her I wouldn't do something like that.
Look at me, my entire outfit that I'm wearing is from Ross, I shop here all the time. You just lost a customer that spends hundreds of dollars a month for an issue with a $12.99 shirt that your store labeled incorrectly. I told her she just lost a customer and she shrugged. As if to say, so I don't care. That was the attitude that all the cashiers and manager had toward me, for their error! After making me late for my appointment, and checking the cameras, of course they saw that I returned the exact shirt that I purchased. No apology, no smile, no customer service. Just rude blatant disrespect, for the store's numerous errors and unprofessionalism.
This was a horrible experience, I will never shop at Ross again and I'll be sure to tweet my more than 450 followers, Instagram my more than 7000 followers, and tell all my family and friends to never shop at Ross again! Customer Service should be priority at all times! The mislabeled, damaged shirt should never have been on the sales floor for me to purchase. You don't disrespect your customer because your store is not run properly.

A couple of months past and they started writing me up for things that did not make any sense. Ex. changing displays from blouses to dresses. The store I did work was a huge volume store and completing other task was nearly impossible with a small group of employees they gave me to close the store. They also had an individual that they wanted to move up to my position as Assistant Manager.
Every month they kept coming up with excuses to write me up. Finally I decided to resign. After waiting 1 month for a decision on my unemployment benefits they decided to deny me my rights. What really makes me angry is that after five years of loyalty and dependability, I have to beg for 275.00 biweekly benefits. Is that fair, or should I have waited to get kicked out of my job like some criminal? Talk about getting a bad rap. This company is the worst to work for and really doesn't care if you end up in the street and homeless. It's all who they want to take care of and who they don't need.
