Customer abuse! This particular Ross in Denver Colorado off of W. Colfax Ave. closes at 10 o’clock. I arrived at the store at 9:50 PM. I was looking for a dog bed for my dog’s birthday the next day. I am a very fast shopper and only needed 1 to 2 minutes to find what I am looking for. When I got to the door, the doors were locked. I’ve worked in customer service my entire life. All doors of businesses are to remain unlocked until closing time. Unless, you are working by yourself and need to go to the bathroom or have a lunch break.
There were customers in the store shopping around still when I knocked on the door as loss prevention/security was standing at the front door with his arms crossed. He said they were closed and shook his head and waved me off. I said the doors are supposed to remain unlocked until 10:00 PM. A lady (I found out later she was the assistant manager named Valorie) came over and unlock the door and said you only have five minutes. As I walked inside I said, "You can’t close the doors until 10:00 PM." I quickly walked in and the loss prevention guy said, “they’re not gonna check you out”. In a very rude and stern voice. He was roughly 20 years old. I felt very rushed and like he was being very rude And condescending to me. I went over to the dog section and looked for a dog bed. It took me only 2 minute from starting at the door then back to the door. I went up to loss prevention and said it only took me 2 minute and it’s now 9:53.
He was again very rude to me so I decided to go up to some associates and tell them how rude he was being to me. Two of the associates were like.. "I don’t know what to do," so they referred me to the manager. I turned around and I tried speaking to the manager but that associate said I’m not the manager and directed me to another lady. The lady who I was directed to was not the manager and turned out to be the assistant manager. Her name was Valorie. Her arms were Crossed and I asked for the loss prevention associate's name because I was very upset at how rude he treated me. And she said, "Well how was he rude because he asked you to leave because we were closing." And I told her that we still had five minutes to shop. The doors weren’t supposed to be closed. She was beginning to be very rude to me arguing with me and told me that I was arguing with her, which was not true at all. I was addressing her as ma’am.
I then asked for her name. And she said, "Why are you asking for my name?" I told her this was extremely poor customer service. I completely felt like I was being bullied. And she kept saying, "Everyone wants to go home. We leave at 10 o’clock." When in reality the store closes at 10 o’clock. The employees leave after the shoppers when the store closes at 10!!! Then she continue to tell me that she shouldn’t have opened the door for me. Which I couldn’t figure out why she would say that since the doors are supposed to remain open till 10! All of the other employees except for loss prevention kept her mouth shut because they knew I was right. Then she asked me to leave and I told her I’m not leaving until the store closes at 10 o’clock. I haven’t done anything wrong! I decided to do more shopping until 10:00 PM. And this is when it got extremely more abusive.
Loss prevention, Daniel, decided to follow me not even a foot behind me while I combed the aisle looking at sports bras. I pulled out an Under Armor sports bra. He said “that’s a nice one”, and I said. "Yeah, it’s a great company." He continued to say, “not for you though”. That’s when I decided to pull out a piece of paper from my bag and started to write down everything that Valorie and Daniel did to me so I had documentation. As a finish coming through that particular aisle, Daniel stepped on my feet. I stopped and he was no more than 6 inches away from me and he was clacking his teeth his teeth at me. He also said, "Go ahead and write anything you want. It’s not going to affect me." Still flowing my every move, making me feel like I was a potential thief or something. He then offered me a facemask and I graciously said, "Yes please." As he was handing me the facemask, he yanked it away and said, "Ha ha not for you, just kidding."
I just smiled and said, "That’s OK, thanks." Then Valorie, the Assistant manager came over and started aggressively yelling at me, saying “I bet this is just what you do. You like to start trouble”. And I said, “actually I don’t like to start trouble. I am just disgusted by how horrible and how rude you have been to me. All I wanted was one minute to go check on the dog beds and you and Daniel have been extremely rude to me saying that you’re not gonna check me out and at first wouldn’t let me in the store!! Then yelled at me and followed me around, stepped on me and made clanking noises at me. This whole thing could’ve been avoided if you just kept your doors open.” And Valorie said, “if you’re not gone by 10 o’clock I’m calling the cops on you”. And I said, "OK awesome. You admitted that you need to keep the doors open by 10 o’clock."
Valorie continue to say that I’m a spoiled brat who was two years old and get whatever I want. I have no idea where that came from, I bet she was just upset. While I was leaving I decided to grab a free facemask and Daniel said “Good. Cover up that ugly face. You’re ugly ** and no one wants to see you”. And while I was leaving I said, "I’m absolutely disgusted on how horrible you’ve treated me." I said I will be reporting it. The entire time I did not say anything rude, I did not use a single swearword, I did not raise my voice or use any sort of profanity. The only thing I did, was knock on the door at 9:50 PM asking to be let in because the doors were supposed to remain open until 10:00 PM. My shopping was completed at 9:53 PM when there were still shoppers in the store. If I could, I would give the store less than one star.
I suffer from an eating disorder and body dysmorphia and the fact that the loss prevention thinks that they can call someone ugly while on the clock and getting paid is absolutely ludicrous. That is not in their job description. It took everything in my power not to say something mean back to him but I knew that I had to be the bigger person. I knew that he was suffering deep down inside and felt like he need to take it out on me. I truly hope that someone higher up who works for Ross dress for less reads this and realize that their employees treat their customers (who are potentially buying something and fueling their paychecks) like yesterday’s garbage. I will now never shop at Ross again and spend the extra money at Target because they have extremely great customer service.
Yesterday 6/12/2021 at around 1:30pm, I entered the store to purchase some items including clothing for my 9 year old son. As I was going through shirts size 6-7 for boys, I found a box cutting knife hanging on one of the hangers. I took it and immediately looked for a store employee but couldn’t find one so I brought it to one of the cashiers on front. Her name is Alexis. I was trying to be discreet about it so, I said with a low voice so other customers can’t hear me ”Excuse me, I found this on one of the hangers in the kids section.” I was expecting a apology and thank you for bringing it to me but all I got was “oh ok” and she turned away from me. I was shocked over her careless reaction and then told her with my normal tone of voice, that this is a knife that I have found in the kid section to make her understand the severity of a box cutting knife just randomly laying/hanging around in the store yet alone the kid section.
I don’t even want to imagine what could have happened if this knife was found by a child. Those knives are really not that hard to open. Again, her responds was “ok” like I’m bothering her. I usually don’t complain and I probably wouldn’t have if the situation would have been treated with more professionalism but the way it was handled, I can tell that this is no big deal to the employees of this Ross location and I sure it’s going to happen again, if this is not brought to the attention of Ross corporate. This is unacceptable!!!
Also, customer service is horrible. Not only does Alexis needs to be trained on customer service but also Delilah who has checked me out. All she said to me, was next purchase (which makes me feel like customers are seen as cattle). No, "hello, how are you doing today, did you find everything ok"...nothing but attitude. I have asked her after a few moments (hoping she would still great me) how she was doing to make her aware that there is actually a real person standing in front of her but all she said was “good”.
I love going to Ross but the customer service is getting worst every time I go there. Not only in Harker Height, TX but also in Killeen, TX which is right next to Harker Heights. It is definitely not a relaxing, fun experience to be shopping at Ross anymore with employees who do not even know the basics of customer service, which is being simply helpful and friendly to customers. Treat others how you want to be treated. It doesn’t hurt to smile!!! P.S. I hope that my complaint is not just pushed to the side and hope that something is actually being done so, we as the customer can have a safe and pleasant experience at Ross!
Ross is an amazing place to shop, I am able to step through the doors and be greeted with a friendly smile. The store is always clean and staff is very friendly and willing to help. I love being able to find something for every room for my house. My two daughters enjoy running to the toy section and love searching through the toys, and begging to buy one. The prices are amazing, and that’s the best deal! My husband also enjoys shopping at Ross as well, we enjoy finding name brand items at an affordable price. The hardest part about shopping at Ross right now is not being able to try clothes on because of Covid, but they have a excellent return policy. I have never bought anything that I regretted later! We love Ross.
Clutter. I visited the one in Baltimore, Maryland and I went through but came right out because there was no order. I knew what I wanted and went to the back where household items were and again things were all over the place. I love Ross. I just want things to be a little more straightened.
Ross is my go to store for just about everything that I need. When it involves clothing, household goods, decorations, shoes and items for my dog. They are affordable and generally have a good selection. Staff are nice.
I shop Ross in Delray Beach on Atlantic Ave. Whenever you need to return something they act very bad like you stole it. If you don't have a receipt they don't look it up with your card like any other good store. The manager teams up with her crew against the customer. She treated me very nasty. Also at first she didn't want to come out at all and when she finally come out she ignored me at first speaking to her peers. Didn't even say hi. And when she finally kind of spoke to me she was very rude and uncooperative. All I came in is to return a bag that the zipper is not working for $12. I can't imagine what will be the reaction if I came with a more expensive item.
Ross wake up. It is 2020 in a pandemic time where a lot of other retail stores would love our business. And when they smile when you return an item. You want to go back in and spend more. This is not the first time it happened in this store but it is the first time I am writing about it. I did find my receipt when I got home. But I will never step in a store that don't respect me a human being and a customer. They don't deserve our business.
Watch out for the loss prevention (tall skinny ** guy with glasses, light brown/blonde hair and wearing a plain black mask). He needs to be fired, he didn't tell anyone about the hangers until I was at the front of the line and I had to rush to get them off before I could check out. Then when I was almost done, he THEN specified which hangers and I apparently wasn't supposed to take the white ones off.
After I finally made it to checkout, I was voicing my concerns to the cashier when he pops into our conversation by yelling, berating me, being condescending, telling me over and over about how wrong I am, acting like I am stupid and apparently "hard of hearing" (even though both my mother and I heard him clearly) and wouldn't let me get a word in. I have PTSD and health issues where I will literally DIE if I get put in enough stress and because of him, I had a panic attack, couldn't breathe, and was crying hysterically when I finally left the store. I never want to come back because of him and this was my favorite store to go to.
I love the Ross store on Hanes Mall Blvd. in Winston-Salem, NC, however, I had my first bad experience yesterday while trying to return two pairs of pants on separate receipts. Both pants were the same price. I requested a store voucher for one pair of the pants due to the purchase being over 30 days. The second pair of pants I requested the refund to go back to my credit card. I told the cashier that I wanted to repurchase the second return with the voucher she gave me for the first return.
The cashier asked me to insert my credit card and she charged the repurchase pants to my credit card. The cashier was very defensive and rude and threw the receipt into the bag and the manager came over and tried to tell me the cashier did the transaction correctly until I pulled the receipt out of the bag which proved that the cashier had charged me for the pants on my credit card. The manager corrected the error. He was very nice and professional and also apologized, he also offer me a discount on my next purchase.
Six cousins, 14-23 years old decided to make a quick stop before going to play volleyball to look for shirts. Apparently we were not made aware that 6 exceeds the limit of how many ** people could enter the store. Not only were they followed (we are very used to that, and have all been taught not to touch too many things), but the security guard decided to stand two feet from them and then get on his little walkie talkie thing and state “yes, I have two of them right here!” This store made sure they would not have a comfortable experience. And because of that, they will NEVER see another GREEN dollar from me! It sickens me that we still have to endure this! I have been a loyal customer for decades in multiple states!!! Too bad I wasn’t the one that exceeded the limit and it was my children that made to feel less than worthy to shop at ROSS!???
I tried returning clothes I’d lost the receipt for and was told they were marked down to fifty cents each, so that’s what I’d be receiving. The tags on the clothes not only indicated no markdowns, but I’ve never seen any clothing at Ross sell for less than five dollars.
The product is ok, the price is ok but the service is really bad, the manager is not prescribed, try to generate fight with the customers for no reason. I hate them all. Not recommended for good and kind people.
I tried to contact them thru Ross Dress For Less complaint form. But it wouldn't go though. One of their newest location in the city of Perris, C.A. 92571 Do not support Handicap customers! ADA requires all retail stores to make their stores handicap accessible!! Their store is not handicap friendly! There are no signs displayed, They did not assist me at all, I had to stand in line like everyone else! Thank goodness I had the basket to lean on. I asked why didn't they have assistance for handicap? The cashier said she didn't know! This is the only Ross store in Perris, and it's new! They have time to make changes while they're closed! Due to Covid-19, I hope they comply!
As a bargain hunter, I found that Ross rarely lets me down. They offer brand names, great selection, and prices that can’t be beat. Why pay more for the same things at a crowded mall or purchase the unknown online and then return? I love it!
Ross Dress For Less is my favorite place to shop! They carry plus size clothing, shoes and purses. They also have a wide variety of home goods. On Tuesday you can get a Senior discount. Locations are convenient and hours.
I returned a pair of jogging pants to the Baytown, TX Highway 146 North Ross store today 12-26-2019. The pants didn't fit and I had no receipt. The clerk gave me a store credit for about 30% less than what the tags said the pants cost. She said that was store policy. Who would have the receipt from a Christmas gift? I will never buy any gifts from a store that has a return policy like that. I checked their return policy online and nothing was mentioned about with holding 30%.
Mont Belvieu, TX
I loved this store as a kid and still do, the store has always had things that you love from trinkets to clothes, shoes. I even got a trunk or chest that looks like a treasure chest one time from this store, great store. Good work clothes. Even toys all sorts of great deals.
Long line. Came to Ross. Mind you it's about Xmas and store is packed and one cashier. This is not how you tune a store two weeks before Christmas.. Get it together if you would like people to Continue to shop here.
Went to the Ross in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Shopping off one of their table we’re they had marked down a bunch of their seasonal items. When I got to the check out the agent kept looking at two of the items with attitude. Then she charged me the regular price of the items and not the markdown price. I didn’t realize I was charged regular price until I got home. Went back to the store and agent and manager had attitude. Manager said their employee priced Items wrong. Agent should have informed Me that items were priced incorrectly. Had to return item.
I went to my local Ross with my daughter because she returned a dress but when they gave her the credit it wasn’t for the full amount of 11.99. It appeared the cashier that did her return had inadvertently had an item already in the computer and it charged my daughter for an item she didn’t buy. My daughter had waited 5 days for her 11.99 credit but when it showed up in her bank account it was 5.99 short so we went to the store to get the remaining money returned as my daughter never purchased anything she just returned the item. They told us they would need to review the video footage (which for 5.99) was a little strange but ok I understand stores have different policies etc. We asked if we could look around while they reviewed the video and they said sure. We had a very long day but understood they had to do what they had to do.
After looking around the store for about 20 minutes we went back to the front and we see the manager and another girl chatting about personal stuff and the manager Lupe was not even looking at the camera and it seemed that she wasn’t in any hurry. The cashiers were talking loudly that they need an employee bathroom because a customer had blown chunks all over the bathroom and they needed to pee but they weren’t using that bathroom. I stood back and waited a few more minutes and finally I spoke up and said, “Is this going to take much longer? We would really like to go.” She said she wasn’t able to pull up the video and she walked away and picked up the phone to call someone and very loudly said customer is saying they never purchased another item when they returned an item and they are saying we charged them for an item.
I started to get the feeling she thought we were trying to scam Ross out of $5.99. Then she said, “I don’t want to lose my job over this. What do you think I should do?" After she hung up the phone she said "Go to register 4. This one time we are going to give you the money back because I can’t pull up the video." I have shopped this Ross for at least 6 years and never been made to feel like a thief but tonight was different as we were treated like we were trying to steal from them. Remember we had the receipts and it was $5.99. The cashier had an attitude because Lupe asked her to give us the credit.
I asked if they could give us the cash since my daughter had already waited 5 days since her original purchase and the cashier said “You need to ask the manager", I said "Well I don’t really want to yell across the store. Would you mind" (thinking she was going to do it over the phone or a walk-in talkie, no she yells across the store “She want to know if she can get cash?" I was embarrassed at this point and I said "I really didn’t want you to yell across the store". The cashier says "It’s not our fault the computer made the mistake. It wasn’t our fault." My daughter finally spoke up and said "You were the one that did my return and you actually made the mistake".
The cashier rolled her eyes and I said "Look can you just do the return so we can go please? We have been here long enough. We just want to go." She exhaled deeply with her hands clenched and I said “What do you want to hit me?" Another customer who didn’t see the whole situation butted in and said she just exhaled, I said with her fists clenched? The cashier slammed our receipt down yelled over to the manager that she would not wait on us and she could do it. Lupe told the cashier to please do the return and she refused. Meanwhile Lupe came and took us to another register to complete the return while the cashier and customer were glaring at us and talking about us.
We heard the cashier say “She need to check herself” and we told her "You need to check your self". This is not professional and it’s not how you treat customers. The cashier who was ** yelled to me that I made a racist remark and I almost fell over. My daughter yelled "What?? What did she say?" I was so hurt because both times I have seen this particular cashier I thought what a pretty girl. I said "This had to do with you exhaling loudly with your fists clenched". Nothing to do with race. Lupe told her to take a break and she refused. Finally Lupe again told her to go on break and her and other employees were talking about us down to the break room as we could hear and see them.
I have been in customer service for 35 years and I would never disrespect a customer the way I was disrespected. We were treated 1st like thieves and 2nd called a racist. My daughter is Puerto Rican as well as my husband. I work in a very diversified job, and never in my 52 years have I ever been called a racist. I think Ross should educate these employees on proper customer service. I know customers can be difficult but we were more than patient even after we were so disrespected. I don’t want to see them fired but my daughter and I deserve an apology.
Ross is 1 of my favorite stores but they really need to review their policies as we were treated terrible and it was their cashiers error, instead of just giving us a lousy $5.99 they treated us like liars and had to watch a surveillance video etc. These girls need to understand customers pay your paychecks and without them there is no need for you. While the customer is not always right you have no right to treat a customer disrespectfully. I am not a racist and to be called that is shocking to me. I am **. Does that automatically make me a racist?
Went to the Kentucky Florence store this morning. And there is no products on the shelves. When asked customer service they said they don't have the people to stop the shelves. You've only been open a week. How do you not have stopped shelves? Horrible experience. Loss of customer. Don't waste your time!
I love shopping at Ross!!! While they, in my view, don't have the best customer service (they aren't rude at all, just not overtly kind), they have beautiful clothing & shoes, sometimes even name brands, very inexpensively! They also have very nice purses, perfumes, home goods, & furniture. Great selections, great prices!
The store has really gone downhill in recent years. The security guards are always watching like a hawk as if you're automatically going to steal something. The quality of the clothes is bad. There's hardly anything I'm interested in buying. I returned clothes because I didn't end up liking them. It's bottom of the barrel nowadays.
I seem to always find bargains at Ross, but the store is a mess. It seems dirty and things are just jammed on the racks. They only had one cashier and there were about 9 people in line. Why can't they do better?
Offered me $12 for $40 shoes in store credit!!! Purchase some nice shoes for $50 and only at home after trying them on several times all Inside my room, I’ve realized that they are little small and decided to return them or exchange for a size bigger. Unfortunately I threw the receipt away by accident and when I came back to the store after looking up on the internet that they accept products back without the receipt for store credit which was completely fine with me because I just wanted to get different size, by the way they told me that I can’t even exchange them for a different size and all they could give me back was $12 dollars!!!! What in the world if you ask me?...
After that me and my mom went to Target where she returned a whole bunch of stuff without receipt like half a year later and full amount of money back! Long live Target and Shame on you Ross! This happened in Ross New Braunfels as well as in the Ross store Laredo TX.. I guess they have the same crappy return policy all over the U.S.
Was asked what my previous employer would say about me in two words? I replied I wasn't going to put words in their mouth. This was due to the fact my job application already had that answer, which was 2 promotions in 2 years. Apparently they don't look at the application or don't have any type of common Sense. Then she asked me to describe in 2 words what I would say I replied fast learner and strive for excellence. Which again my application had already showed that with the 2 promotions. Then the woman said we'll be having interviews next week and she was going to contact HR to set me up. Not 5 minutes later I get an email stating I wasn't wanted at Ross. In other words honest hardworking people isn't what Ross Dress For Less is looking for.
My husband had to wait for 45 minutes to return shoes in Livermore newly opened store. Instead of helping, employees told to look around the shop because the person on duty was on break. Even after he returned, my husband had to stand in line again. It's very bad to make customer wait for such a long time.
Poor quality of the products. I bought MK shoes for my niece. She only wore them one day and they peeled in the front part. I went to make the claim in the store Ross 7445 W Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32818, EE. UU the person who was there in a rude way told me that I would not change them because according to her the shoes had been used for more than a day and it is totally false. In a few words she told me a liar. I do not have to go to tell lies to change a product. I think he could have said that he could not change them in a more friendly way, after all he is in customer service. Poor quality and poor customer service.
Today I visited Ross near Encore. I've travelled from the UK and love your stores. However today’s experience wasn’t good. Rose was on checkout, it was busy. I greeted Rose with a hello, she completely ignored me. I asked her for a discount as I’m over 55 - again ignored. I then said hello and her response was, "I heard you." "Then why did you not acknowledge me?" Again she ignored me. She slapped my change in my hand with a, "Thank you." Now Ross I’m all for great service or service with a smile, unfortunately nothing coming anywhere near from Rose today.
The security at Ross has gotten out of hand. It starts at the front of the store where there is a security guard. Then to go to the "one" bathroom that they provide, that you have to be buzzed in. At the fitting room, it's practically a TSA type of search with every item of clothing being felt up before you are allowed to take it off the rack to try on. It all makes for a "**" store that is no fun to shop in anymore. I'd much rather shop at Marshalls or TJ Maxx where there is no extreme security measures to make for a far more relaxing shopping experience. At Marshalls and TJ Maxx, there are no security guards and you can freely go to the bathroom without being "buzzed in". The fitting room have the normal polite procedures. No extreme security at either of these two stores and their merchandise is more expensive. What the hell happened at Ross?
I bought a pair of shoes for my daughter and they are trash. Fell apart first wear and we have the receipt and the store would not take them back. We were going to make another purchase but we didn’t and won’t be back.
