Order a Plymouth Foam Garage Door Insulation Kit. This kit comes with 8 panels for my garage door. When it was delivered, 5 of the 8 panels were damaged. T delivery department did not even put my product in a box. The foam insulation kit was exposed and shipped that way. Of no surprise that it was damaged during delivery.
I contacted customer service and they initially responded to me asking that I send them photos of the damaged items. I reply, and sent them the pictures. I follow-up with an email the next day asking if they received my email, waiting another day. I didn't hear anything so I went online to find a human number 715-876-5911 and left a voicemail. Someone finally emailed me back but instead of telling me how they were going to fix it, they asked another question and that how many panels were damaged. I responded with 5 of 8 and it's been 3 days and I have yet to hear back from them. I have tried to follow up with them since then, but they are ignoring me. My next step is to contact my credit card.

Naperville Menards at 715 Fort Hill Drive Naperville, IL. I went into the garden center for two ferns and three flower arrangements and I was denied my sale because my mask was beneath my mouth. I was maintaining 6 feet from everyone, talked to no one and avoided people like the plague because I can’t breathe with the mask on especially in the heat. I understand there is policy, however it is not a law to wear a mask and I was nowhere near anyone or endangering anyone’s life.
The girl at the outdoor register had already rung my order up and all I had to do is hand over the money and she had another employee ask management if they refuse sales to anyone not wearing a mask. She rung me up and then said, "Sorry, no sale." The other employee made it a point to be really loud on the phone so I could hear him, too. I don’t appreciate that intimidation.
To date, we have spent almost $15,000.00 this year on our contractor card alone and to be treated like this over a non law when I was not near one person is uncalled for. Perhaps it’s because I’m Mexican?? We have spent almost $50,000 on behalf of our business in the last 3 years at Menards and I feel that this was a non issue when my items were rung up and almost paid for.
I am leaving a review online for Google, Yelp, my Facebook page and any other review outlets to let everyone know that after I called and spoke to the manager Brian ** and not getting a satisfactory resolution, that they might want to consider Home Depot or Lowe’s like we have been considering. Thank the Illinois governor for that! We already spent almost $4,000 at Home Depot this year so far. Singling out one customer over a temporary policy is beyond ridiculous and I am not the only one who won’t be shopping at Menards after this.

I up until today went to Menards in Belleville MI 1 a week and today was the worst I've ever been cheated and lied about at any store ever, today is 6-14-20, we arrived at menards about 5:35 pm walking in to the garden center we (my self and fiancé) wanted a bird bath for the yard, after we loaded up the bird bath I Rachel ** seen some lawn stones/decorations, seen the army one (I am a army veteran) and wanted it, figured meant to be since I was actually interested on the U.S. Army's birthday.
It was on top shelf so my boyfriend moved it but I just decided to go get help or even ask if they had more because of a chip at bottom so I went and found an employee Kaylee who was just restocking the shelves (please check camera on her activity because this come in to play later in experience) so I ask her about the stones. Show her the picture I took because the one I wanted was oval shaped compared to the others and wanted to confirm why.
We were talking and walking. We get to the end cap and she sees the sign/price listed as $12.99 but she doesn't say that it was wrong immediately until she whips out her little price check scanner tool and tells me it's $29.99 and immediately removes the price tag sign as she is doing she blames it out the people who put the display up didn't remove, so I ask, "Since it's miss marked do I get it for that price stated?" "I don't make them calls," (but did not offer to say, "Hold on, let me check with the manager and see what we can work out"..There was a chip). No. After she states she don't make those calls she walks away, goes back to same area she was working and she left me just standing there unresolved issues, so I tell fiancé I will be right back.
Guess I have to check with manager, I walk to customer service check out and explain the situation and showed the picture. They stated it would have been different if I just loaded and paid for it then I would have got it for $12.99 because was mistaken and then she states, "I will call the manager." Ask the car were was Brittany. She stated she was helping at returns, so coincidently Brittany walks up moments after and I go through my issue then she rebuts stating that Kaylee was working on display and got called off to sweep up a mess per Kaylee.
(I'm assuming Kaylee called but couldn't call a manager to ask a question for me but could call in give her story before I had even arrive up front to find manager). I said, "No actually Kaylee was not. When I found her she was stocking/straightening items," here is the amazing part, the manager Brittany stated right to my face, "I actually looked at the cameras and she was sweeping," which unless camera viewing is hand held there was no physical way Brittany could have reviewed the cameras because all this transpired in 3-5min. But Brittany stated she would not honor the price, in last six weeks have spent $1000 bucks in the belleville mi store.
Please research our purchases and the cameras so you can find that I wasn't lying and that you have employees apparently not doing what they're supposed to and the killer thing is that the encap was fully stocked so there would have been no reason for an employee to return, they just failed to pay attention to detail and not remove the bad price tag..

Ordered a vanity and it arrived damaged. I contacted Menards.. nothing for days. No replacement offered. Then they offered for me to return but charged me 75 bucks.. for a damaged item. I just want an undamaged vanity! Now I have to take to Fed Ex which isn’t even close by and it weighs probably 75 lbs. I asked about an exchange. They told me it’s better to return and buy again. So I can get another damaged vanity, get charged for it, and waste even more time. Completely dissatisfied with Menards.

Few days ago, I visited Menards store in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They do have a variety of products. After finishing shopping we went to the cashier to check out. My wife picked a toy from the middle that had a pile of them With a sign $ 4.99, the cashier called som. I was thirsty that day, I took a bottle of water with me, on our way to the car, I tried to find it, but I could not, so I went back to the store & they asked me for a receipt which kind of made me mad & I walked out. I said just keep it. (I'm 74 Years old. Why would want to lie about a bottle of water.)
As I'm walking back I remembered I was thirsty, So I grabbed the receipt & I came back, It took some time, I though he went back to get me water, but he went back to review the tape to prove I put the bottle of the water in the cart which cost the store more than the 30 C bottle of water, While I was waiting, I said I don't have all time to waste. A lady jumped up (I believe she is a supervisor, & very rudely said, "You can leave the store" with out the store. I felt very humiliated especially she said where everyone can hear her & my wife had to walk with him & show him where got from. I don't believe that was appropriate, that is not decent service & I will not step my foot in that store again. No one thought may be the water fell out of the cart since it was not in a bag.

I am really upset about the whole experience, especially, that I wasted that much time and haven't had the result. I was trying to place an order online got really bad experience:
2. I was not able to order the needed amount of each item but it was just one per order.
3. At the end of the ordering process, there was a "processing fee" and the amount of it was increasing rapidly as the order goes without me adding the extra items just going through the order cart.
4. there were no options to pick up the ordered items from the store but curb service.
5. the shipping fees were absolutely ridiculous (.
Therefore, I have to start the whole process somewhere else from scratch.
Order Summary

The Man that called me (Mark) offered no apology, no discount, nothing. We ordered online for pick up. Some items were not available but they made that clear and did not substitute, which we were very appreciative of. When I arrived at gate 13, which was ingenious, they promptly brought the order out and let me know I had to get out to load it myself. So I did. But, I was surprised they did not just load it in the back of my vehicle. I had it open. I'm a senior and it was ok for me to lift the heavy things I ordered online, but not everyone who would love to take advantage of is service can.
Afterwards, I reviewed my bill, I should have checked it before finalizing my order, I was charged a 20 percent mark-up for the service. I find this confusing during covid 19, it seems high, and I had no option for self selecting a gratitude tip myself. I have not had this experience at other establishments. I will go back...but probably not until this passes. And, not for pick up.

It was "bar style", so I refused the order and asked for a refund. There was nothing "special" about this. Not until I didn't want it. Original cost was over $1200.--They refunded me $900...25% restocking for a purchase made on THEIR website. Nothing on their website said/says this. So as a customer of Menards for many years and buying many things from Menards I have never had an issue like this before. I have been treated with courtesy and felt that if there was an inconvenience it was able to be resolved with great customer service. Today was not one of those days. Ultimately my wife bought a brand new (in a box never been touched) tiller from the store in Baxter today (4/19/20). She brought it home and I went to go put it together for her.
The first thing I noticed was how destroyed the box was. It didn't look like it had been open, but there were tears/holes and tape holding the box together. The first thing I did was take it back to the store and since it was the last one and so beaten up I asked if we could knock a couple of bucks off it just because it looked like it had been dropped and taped back together. I was put in touch with Stacy the store manager. I stated can I get a couple of bucks off of this, if so I can manage anything that might be broken. I never opened the box and Stacy stated that we could swap it for the floor model. So I asked if the price could be lower on that at all as it is a floor model and not brand new, out of the box, never been touched.
I was given the answer that it was not possible and all she could do was swap out for the floor model. (Maybe I am out of line, but when you buy something brand new, if it comes in a box it is brand new in a box, not taken out unless it has been agreed upon to do so.) I even asked if I could get the extended warranty that menards offers as my wife did not buy that and Stacy stated that she couldn't. So she opened the box, (now I am stuck with an open box item, not brand new) and told me that there was nothing broken on it an that it was fine.
She again stated that all she could do was swap for the floor model or I could keep this one. So I shook my head in disgust and went home with the one in the box hoping that there wasn't any damage. My wife and I put it together and took a video and pictures of us unboxing it. When we unboxed it we noticed that there was a dent in the exhaust shield along with a big scratch, there as a big scratch on the brush bar in front of the motor, scratches on the underside of the dirt shield, and a big crack in the paint on the handle bar (at the weld point). We documented those things and put it together after which we noticed that the right handle bar was bent (explains the crack in the paint at the weld point.).
So I called back and talked with Stacy, I asked when they would be getting any new ones in, she stated there was none on order, but again I could have the floor model one. I again asked if there was any mark down for a floor model, 10% or anything? She stated that she could not and that they didn't mark down floor models for power equipment. I stated that I have gotten floor models from menards before and was able to get a markdown on it as it is not Brand New untouched in a sealed box from the factory. She stated that only her GM could I asked if I could speak with him and she connected me with him. His name is Jason, I got the same answer and was asked to bring it in to have it checked out. (We are in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and less being around the better, I informed him that this was important.)
He stated he could get some pictures of it to. So I took some pictures of it and sent it to him. After some issues with emails and pictures he finally got them and we talked. He stated that he talked to Stacy about what it looked like when she opened the box. Jason stated that Stacy told him the exhaust shield could have had a dent in it, but she didn't see if the handle bar was broken. (From the way it was packaged it would be hard this) Well she had told me that there was no damage to it the first time I brought the unopened/damaged box back to her.
Now she says the exhaust shield was busted. Jason then continued to say about the handle bar being bent that because of what Stacy had said he didn't know if it was that or if I had damaged it during unpacking. (I have a video of us unpacking and picture of the damaged box, the corner of the box that was damaged the most is where the handle bar was and the exhaust and where all the damage was.)
I asked if he was really going to play that card? So we continued our conversation and he didn't raise his voice, but did not seem to be to concerned about it and again reiterated that I could come have the brand new one that was on the floor in the store. I again reiterated that his idea of brand new and my idea of brand new were not meshing up because brand new to me is untouched out of the box (preferably an undamaged one). So I reluctantly agreed to drive and swap out for the floor model. To which I am about to go do. Very disappointed in Menards this day!!

They are not checking temperatures as they were advised to do. They are still renting trucks and tools as well as still doing returns. This is not safe. It's scary and the employees are getting pushed, yelled at and just overwhelmed. Menards needs to do more measures to protect its employees and guests. Corporate has been emailed and contacted but still not doing more to assure safety of their employees or guest because they are making their money so they dont seem to care.

I visited the Hollister, MO store on 4-5-20 and I was very unhappy with the customer service. As I run a local business I spend a lot of time in my local hardware/supply stores and I feel the treatment I got yesterday was not only uncalled for but was quite ridiculous for a company with the reputation of Menards. I spent several hours in the store gathering supplies, had carpet cut to fit and rope cut plus a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise. When I went to check out I inquired about a price match on an ice chest, I had found it online for 10 dollars less than it was on their shelf. The cashier (David) called over a manager (Steve).
Steve introduced himself as the acting GM, looked at the ice chest on my phone and told me he wouldnt match online pricing. I explained that I understood, even though that's not what the sign said, but asked him if he would match it this time since I already had everything else and didn't want to stop by another store that night. He told me it was 10 minutes till they close and he wasn't going to be matching online pricing. I asked him for a customer service number and he told me that he didn't have that and I would have to look it up online.
I found it to be really bad business that I couldn't even get contact info for customer service so I told him I didn't want any of it if that was how he wanted to handle this. He told me that was fine, pulled my buggy (that had a few hundred dollars of precut merchandise) around the other side of the register. Then he pulled out the cold drinks from the top of the buggy and put them back into the cooler in front of the register.
Not only was he rude, refused to price match and refused to give me a customer service number but then - in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic - took cold drinks that I had touched - the cashier had touched - and he had touched and put them back into a cooler for the next customer. He didnt even wipe them down. I was appalled. I have made a lot of purchases in Menards, typically I prefer to spend my money there over Lowe's or Home Depot because of the customer service. After this encounter I see Menards in a whole new light. I was dismayed that a company would have an acting GM that treats customers in this manner.

The response I received from Rebates International was they were on sale and not eligible. How can they advertise this and not honor it is beyond me. In addition over $700 of the HI stuff I bought in November wasn't on sale, still no rebate. If you want to challenge any claim you can go to arbitration against them but that will cost you ~$200. Sad they treat people this way. I will be filing another complaint with the BBB along with pics of me mailing in my rebates from February. Unfortunately I did not take a pic of the ad but they should have it archived or maybe inconveniently not, I'll have to wait and see.

Menards in Olathe, KS. On 3/28/20 My wife and I went to purchase a 54 inch wide laundry room cabinet, window film and a lighting fixture totaling over $220.00, for the most part everyone was friendly and professional up to the point after checkout when the courtesy attendant Noah wheeled the pre-assembled cabinet out to my truck to help load, once loaded he then proceeded to tell me that I could not park in the back of the parking lot and berated for 15 minutes. I called and spoke with MOD Lisa who informed me that she would take care of it.
The next day I ran out of window film and Menards was the only store in town that carried it, I reluctantly went back to the store and soon after I walked into the store Noah saw me and started to follow me around at a distance giving me dirty looks which I ignored. I got home and opened the packaging to find out it was packaged wrong at the factory with a different type of film. Again I went back to Menards quickly walking thru the store hoping to avoid Noah which I was almost successful until check out, there was Noah waiting to confront me again about the other day.
At this point I sternly asked to see the MOD immediately, This time I spoke with a Manager named Jenny. She again assured me that it would be taken care of, not one of them apologized for their employee's UN-professionalism and to make things worse the customer service hotline is a number to tell you to mail or fax your concern or complaints in. It's clear these employees are allowed to harass customers and there is no accountability. I will more than likely not be back to menards again in fear of what Noah will escalate things to next. Menards, I'm so disappointed. I really used to enjoy shopping at your store, but I can not support a company that allows their employees to treat their customers in this manner.

Me and my wife went shopping around to choose some cabinets that will hopefully last the rest of our lives. We settled on cabinets at Menards versus Lowe's and an Amish shop. So the Menards employee in the cabinet department took our order for The Rustic Hickory looking display they had and assured us that what we were getting would look like the display. This was my wife Christmas present. Her birthday is February 1st so before Christmas we ordered the cabinets. We were told it would take 2 to 4 weeks for them to get in. I was informed that they had arrived so on her birthday I had my adult children come over and we went and pick the cabinets up and took them to our house and proceeded to remove the old kitchen cabinets. Once our kitchen had been stripped down and the old cabinets basically broke up for disposal.
We took the new cabinets in the house and began to unbox them. They were not rustic Hickory. Did not look a bit like the display. When I called Menards and ask them what was going on they said that those cabinets were made out of Young Hickory. So they would not have the The Rustic look as we were told and showed by the display cabinet we bought them off of. Our cabinets were approximately $2,600. I was told if I wanted The Rustic look it would be an additional $2,000 and we would have a 25% restocking fee for those cabinets that I was returning unless I bought the new cabinets at Menards. So we went ahead and paid the extra $2,000 for the new cabinets and saved our 25% restocking fee for their mistake.
When the new cabinets arrived finally after I had to haul the old cabinets back to the store they did me a favor and gave me free delivery for my trouble. Problem is their employee sent the new cabinets to a different Tim ** who lived in a different town. So then they called me cause nobody would answer the door at that address in the different town. They had my phone number not my address. I don't understand. Later was told that the employee looked in the phone book to find a Tim ** and sent the cabinets there. By the time they got back to the store it was too late to deliver them that day which we had waited now an additional month with no kitchen in our house. Then I was was told that I would have to pay for the delivery for the second time.
When they did deliver the cabinets they were two cabinets short and they said they would have to reorder the cabinets. As I was putting the new cabinets in I realize they had mistakenly ordered three 24 inch cabinets and one 22 inch cabinet when it should have been 3 22 inch cabinets and one 24 inch cabinet. I was then told they'd have to reorder those. After I brought the other cabinets back they reordered the cabinets and then after 3 weeks called me and said they were in. I arrived at the store to find that only one of them had come in. The other two had been shipped to a completely different state Indiana rather than Illinois. Then they said they'd have to get those ship to the store in Forsyth Illinois or I could drive to Indiana and pick the two cabinets up. Again we waited for another three weeks.
When they finally came to the store Forsyth Illinois I went to pick the cabinets up and when I went back to order my countertop the manager of the cabinet department was there. And this was my second conversation with him. The first he basically said that he felt it was my fault that the wrong cabinets had been ordered in the first place not his employee who told me that they would. He even wrote on my sheet they were rustic Hickory look cabinets. This second exchange did not end very well as far as I'm concerned. The man is lucky he still has his teeth when I told him that all through this ordeal he had not once said that they were sorry. I had not been able to get ahold of the corporate complaint or anything because of the way Menards has their system set up it is to avoid any disgruntled complaints from customers.
When I made the comment that he had not once mentioned that they were sorry he looked at me and said, "Well how's this for you. I'm sorry you feel that way." Again he's lucky I didn't react in the way I felt but I can't threaten anyone or else this won't be published. I have found through all my research trying to get some satisfaction for all the mistakes made and all the time spent without having a kitchen that the owner of Menards has been sued over and over again. He has no concern about either his customers or his employees. It's no wonder they're the cheapest place to go because they have the worst service and worst quality there is.
I'll never go back to Menards anywhere again. I know that most people will until something like this happens to them because it's obvious that the owner of Menards it is not a corporation. It has a single owner and he has no intention of ever satisfying a disgruntled customer. He could care less about any of his customers.

Went there yesterday, walked to the department, but there were none on the shelf, so time wasted there. Clerk in department checked on it and said it was in the back at Pickup. The jeans I received from Menards during the last online purchase of the same mfg and style number are not anywhere near the same product. There is no manufacturer name, tag, or signature pocket stitching on them even though they were advertised as the same maker and style number. The material is not the same, the fit is not the same, and the signature stitching and name tag is absent on the product anywhere. I expressed my concerns to the customer service representative and was told that I received what I ordered and they charged me $24 to return them. The product was falsely advertised, and the product received was not the same as previously purchased.
I reviewed the return policy prior to purchase and it says nothing about paying return shipping, just that items may be returned within 90 days of purchase with receipt...and no mention of responsibility for return shipping. Very misleading!!! Had I known this I would not have risked the online purchase...I am being charged over $24 to find out that this product is not as advertised, not what I expected when I placed the order, and not even made by the same company as advertised. I received items that were not manufactured by the company as described, and not the same as previously satisfactorily purchased from Menards. How very misleading is the return policy and advertising on this product.
If the item has the same mfg and style number, then as a consumer you would expect to receive the same items...not the case here. I understand it may be a difference in mfg design, but that is not the consumer's fault and the consumer should not be held liable for receiving a different product than they are accustomed to from previous satisfactory purchases of the same mfg and style number from the same retailer.
This is like receiving a pair of Nike shoes ordered online without the name Nike on them, or even the company logo Swoosh, and telling me that it is made by the same company and is just a mfg difference. No it is not a Nike product without the Nike name or the Swoosh. Even the cheap clothing purchased at Walmart has a Mfg name on them!! Just like all Levis have a Levis tag and the signature pocket stitching on them...just like Wrangler has the Wrangler name on them and the signature "W" pocket stitching on them. But these jeans had no manufacturer name or the signature "M" pocket stitching like all other Old Mill jeans that I have previously purchased do...therefore I can only assume they are not made by Old Mill, but are falsely sold under the Old Mill name.
There is not a clothing product sold in any store that does not have a single Mfg tag, name, or signature of some sort on them. Telling me these are Old Mill jeans is an outright lie and complete Bologna!!! Do not purchase from Menards and expect a quality product made by a name brand mfg or to be able to return their junk products without exorbitant return fees!! Their Customer Service department is a misnomer and is laughable because they do not service the customer or even pretend to care about a bad shopping experience.

Beware of Menards.com Policies. I used to live near a Menards and thought the store was pretty good and the prices were decent. I have moved far away from any Menards store and so I decided to use Menards.com and have the product delivered. What a disaster!! I ordered about $500.00 of their brand Patriot low voltage lighting. First they charge a handling fee of about 5% for the privilege of buying from them. They charged 3% more on sales tax than my state sales tax.
When I got the order it was packed haphazardly and many things were broken. You can't call them, so I emailed and waited. Finally got a response to send pics. I did, then waited. Finally they sent new lights (3 weeks). Now a few months later one of the lights went out (5 year warranty). They will not replace it unless I bring it into the store. I said that I live 400 miles away!! They said, "Order a new one and send the old one back." What?? Spend more money?? Then they said. "Fill out some form and mail it in." I did and it's been almost a month and no response. I tried calling the phone # for Patriot and found out that it was only for parts. I continue to email with no response. Now, either I leave that one light out and my landscaping lights look ridiculous or I have to replace all of it. They don't make anything easy when you try to use their website and need the product shipped. I won't do it again.

I place a $4700 flooring order online and $500 of that was for the delivery. The flooring was deviled to a warehouse about 40 min from my home. The delivery company then called to find out if I could unload the truck. I stated that no I was not able to do that (I am a 120 pound female) and that it was not an option. They said they would have to get Menards to approve the right equipment to be able to get it off the truck and into the garage. Great. Well then a week went by with no correspondence. I called the delivery company and they said they reached out to Menards with no response as of now. So I called and after a few hours was able to speak with someone who I was able to correspond with both companies via email and get the approval, approved. Great.
Nope not so much. The delivery wasn't able to go out until Monday (after we took the previous weekend off to put the floor in) and when the driver arrived in a full size semi (my driveway is paved, skinny and about a quarter mile long) he explained that he could not drive down the driveway and rather than sending a derivable lift they just send a truck with a lift. He said it would have to be rescheduled. They called me later in the day and asked if tomorrow would work. I said yes and thought it was good to go. Nope, not at all. Menards then said it would be another $365 if I wanted it delivered and I said no way. They are now trying to keep my $500 and cancel the order so we shall see what my credit card company thinks of this but I will never purchase anything from this company again and do not recommend anyone else to either.

I recently placed two on-line orders to be picked up in-store. In order to get the items and quantity that I wanted I had to order from two different stores, neither of which were my local store. So naturally I chose the two that showed my desired inventory available that were the closest to where I lived but were still a good hour plus drive. When I arrived at the first store to pick up my order one of the items was incorrect. It was a hassle and a rather time consuming process to correct the issue and I was the one having to fix it. The employees were not very nice about it and it was the store's fault it was incorrect, not mine!
Then off to the second store. This time I ordered 7 of the same item but when arrived to pick up my order they only had 3 of them. Said their inventory showed they had all 7 but it was incorrect and that this happens sometimes. But yet I was charged for all 7 items! And again a hassle to get corrected. Had I not paid attention and checked my account to know what was actually charged to my card ahead of time they would have let me walk out of the store and not have even have thought twice about it! Just bad service all the way around!

Long story short, it cost me a fortune to fix all their mistakes. It took almost a year of fighting customer service to get my kitchen done. I was given NOTHING for the troubles they caused. Menards ordered my cupboards wrong three times, they over charged me on the returns, I purchased a fridge which was defective and froze all my groceries. The delivery company ruined my new floors when delivering the fridge and broke my door. My cupboards still don’t fit and they have refused to fix anything or offer discounts.
I contacted John Menards who apologized and then passed me off to customer service supports who asked me to fill out a ton of paperwork. I went through all of this and they said they wouldn’t give me any compensation because “they don’t compensate for inconvenience, delays, or incidentals.” It cost me a fortune to fix all of their mistakes. I am a widow, single mom, teacher, and good citizen. They took full advantage of my kindness as I dealt with all of it. I got robbed.

We chose to go with Menards for cabinets we were purchasing to finish our basement. This was due to the price and delivery time. We were quoted 3-4 weeks after purchase for delivery. We purchased our cabinets on Nov 23rd (Saturday), and were told we would received a phone call in a few days to verify our production and delivery window. Here we are over a week out and NO PHONE CALL. We checked the website and our estimated SHIP date is now January 11th! This is almost 8 weeks from our purchase date. Double the estimated 3-4 week window we were told in the store. We understand due to the holidays the shipping date would fluctuate a little but this should have been addressed to us before we purchased our cabinets.
Now we have to put our contractor out almost 3 additional weeks due to the cabinets being delayed and therefore delaying our project completion even further. In addition, since we don't normally shop at Menards we were not advised the rebate they offered us was for IN STORE CREDIT until after we purchased the cabinets. We figured we could just use the money to purchase other items for our project however, that does not come in until 8 weeks AFTER you mail it in!! So now we have a huge in-store credit that we cannot use! Home Depot would have been slightly more money but we wish we would have just gone with them as they were honest with us about delivery time and we save the money on the cabinets upfront. We have learned our lesson and will not be recommending anyone to purchase cabinets from this store as the shipping is NOT 4 weeks!

And once again can’t get down the aisles then get to register and only one is open. What they do get bought by Walmart and to beat it all she sitting her big butt in a chair which took forever.
Then I get home. I live in the Dayton area and get paint which was Dutch Boy which has a screw on lid and the guy didn’t get the lid on. As soon as I picked up the can the lid popped off and paint went everywhere. So I call store and all they say is, "Well bring it back and we will replace it." So I asked, "Are you also gonna pay for my time and gas?" They said no. I’d be losing money and time. I bet they don’t like their money lost or their time wasted. They're getting paid to be there. We took a picture of the SKU number as we were told by an employee that we would have to order online. We ordered immediately. After receiving email confirmation we realized that it wasn't a Blackstone but a Char-Broil. Nowhere on the sign did it say that. Talked to the store and they could not cancel the order. We were told to do that online. We went online and followed Menards' process to cancel. This all occurred within 15 minutes of ordering. We searched and searched for a number to call and cancel but could not find one.
The next day I followed up with another email, same online process to cancel asking for a response. I got one saying, "Sorry we ship fast and it's special order so it can not be canceled." (In the meantime we had already purchased the one we originally wanted thinking the first was canceled). I was advised I can return it with a 25% restocking fee. We are beyond frustrated with Menards. We always want to support local business. This was actually cheaper (not by much) on 2 other sites. So I grabbed my phone and went to the Menards website and put in my my zip code which found my local store. I then put in search line "casita roof" and replacement roofs came up. I selected the one I wanted, went to my shopping cart and then paid for it. I then went to the store to pick it up. When I went to install the roof it was to big. I put it back in original packaging and took it back to the store where was refunded all but 20% which they kept because they said it was subject to a restocking fee because it was a special order.
I didn't know it was considered a special order? So when I got home it just kinda bothered me that they kept $60+ of my money! So I went back to the website and retraced my search. No where does it say what I was ordering was a special order or subject to a 20% restocking fee. I returned to the store and asked to speak to a mgr. And showed him each screen and proved it never said it was a special order. He gave me the phone number of customer service and when I called they dont let you talk to anyone and the message said you have send complaints in writing. So I wrote a letter and recieved a answer with a copy of a screen shot showing that the item I ordered was a special order. This screen never appeared in my search.
I wrote a letter to IL Consumer Complaint. They sent me a response that said they have contacted Menards and suggested I should be hearing from them and should consider accepting any settlement afford. Menards responded and pretty much said to bad zdx o sad! So ... I own a company and I could or would not charge an excessive fee without informing the consumer that what they are purchasing if returned would subject to a 20% restocking fee. I truly don't understand why Menards wouldn't reach out and try to make this wrong right! But I think it's bad business! The Menards 11% off promotion is in the form of a rebate that has to be used in their stores, not cash. Therefore, everyone who makes a purchase qualifies for the rebate. The rebates cannot be done electronically, and the rebate forms are not kept at the check-outs. Instead, a customer needs to check out and then go to the customer service desk for the rebate form. I commented to the cashier, "Wouldn't it be easier for customers if the forms were just kept at the check-outs?" She responded that Corporate doesn't want them to do that. I can only assume that Corporate hopes the customer forgets about the rebate and doesn't apply for it. Then it is more money in Corporate's pocked.
My second issue is that the rebate has to be physically sent through the U.S. Mail. It cannot be submitted electronically. Yet, if you make a return for one of the items, the computer system knows it. Then why are they inconveniencing customers with having to mail it in? They already have the automation in place. It is just another ploy in hopes that the customer does not send in the rebate. Also, it costs the customer 55 cents for a stamp for maybe a $2.00 rebate. Ethically, Menards is missing the mark. And is it really a rebate if it is on the form of a certificate that has to be used at their stores?

Today is 10-14 and the status still shows en route. I tried to call the shipper via the number shown on Menards' website and that is not a valid number. Then I called the store. I received an acknowledgment from Menard’s Customer Service via email that that would be no problem. My credit card was charged immediately. Weeks later no delivery. I sent numerous emails that went largely ignored. FINALLY a delivery date was set. On September 23, 2019 the truck arrived...A SEMI! The ABF Freight semi could not make it up our driveway and became lodged in our gates. A heavy duty tow truck was summoned.
In the interim, I contacted my local Menards in Bloomington IN (30 minutes away). After speaking with the Manager it was arranged to have the truck driver once freed from our driveway to take our order the the Bloomington Menards store where it would in turn be delivered by a smaller truck. After blocking our only access to and from our home for hours a heavy duty tow truck arrived to extract the truck from our gates. (PHOTOS AVAILABLE) By then it was past 7pm and getting dark. The driver stated he would not deliver our order to the Bloomington Menards. He returned to the ABF Freight Co. But not before apologizing for getting stuck and stating that our order would be forwarded to the Bloomington Menards and that we should receive it in a couple of days.
Days later no delivery. I emailed Menards, again, and was told “it was already delivered”. I replied “no” and proceeded to type an email yet again explaining the situation. The response...”Oh, yeah, I see that now. It shows here you refused delivery and want to pick it up instead”. At this point I’m typing another email informing Menards that NO, I did not pay hundreds of dollars for shipping and special packaging so I could pick up an 8 ft. long 800 LB. pallet of closet organizers in my Toyota Corolla!
Moments later I received a phone call from the Menards in Greenwood, IN, which 3 Counties-1 hour drive away)..."We have your order here and want to know when you are going to pick it up?” I yet again explain the situation and asked why my order was sent to Greenwood when the Manager at Bloomington and I had arranged to have it delivered there (?). I was then told that my order was delivered to the Greenwood because it was more convenient for the trucking Co.-ABF Freight.
It was then arranged for my order to be delivered Wednesday October 2, 2019. On Tuesday, October 1, 2019 I receive a phone call... “Hey, this is the area in Greenwood. I have you down for a delivery October 3rd and 4th. Which day is it?" It’s been 6 weeks since Menards received my $2,000.00 and I have not received my order, nor have I been contacted by any supervisor. Further no attempts been made to compensate me for this debacle.

I attempted to buy some steel roofing material for a shed online. After selecting all the items and viewing the total charges after tax of approx $500, I hit the submit payment button. I received a confirmation that Menards had billed me $806 when I very clearly approved $500! After reviewing the total it appears they added a returnable pallet to my order for $100 and they doubled the quantity of panels I wanted. Note: I was picking the items up in store and had no need to take possession of their $100 pallet. I called the store and spoke to 5 people, going around in circles and finally a manager. The store said they couldn’t do anything until the material delivered, then I could return it, in two weeks.
The manager told me to call the online customer service on the contact me section of the website. I went to the website, couldn’t find a phone number, called the store again who told me indeed, they don’t HAVE a phone for customer service, only the email address. I emailed and asked to cancel the entire order, I was told I would get a refund to my bank account but the refund amount in the email was short by $1.74 of what I paid originally. I asked for a FULL refund of the total order, was assured I would get one... 4 days later I finally got refunded but... NOT for the total 806 that I paid, only for $804. I will NEVER shop at Menards again!

Ripoff store. Unsafe aisles, rarely sales help available, junk quality items, inane jingle music blasting constantly, rude management, refunds nearly impossible to get, misleading sale posters. You name it, if it’s unethical, rude, or your basic rip off scheme, they engage in it. I’ve lived here since before this store was built and had more bad experiences than good ones. Their plants are always half dead during the growing season, their tools are overpriced and poor quality, and their food items are often outdated and just gross. They sell milk and dairy but do not keep their coolers at the correct temperature. So following safety guidelines is obviously not a priority for them. If you choose to shop there, be careful about EVERYTHING you pick up. You DO NOT want to go through their exchange/refund hassle.

He moved some objects out of the way so we could get closer to the conveyor which holds the linoleum rolls. He helped us find the samples and even chuckled and offered to put back the samples that we accidentally dropped as we pulled samples off of the shelf. He wrote the information on the samples for us along with the price per square foot, checked on availability of item in stock. Thank you Tom, we’ll be back to pick up our flooring very soon!

I have had the worst experience with the first and only online order I've made with Menards. I ordered 8 packages of 4 lights per package of recessed lights. I ordered on Sat., 8/17/19 and set it up to be delivered to my work place which was to be Wed., 8/21/19. I saw no movement in the FedEx system after the label was created. I asked about it thru emails thru Menard's website and received no response for 3 days. I eventually received a generic canned response 3 days after my initial email, 1 day AFTER the package was supposed to have been delivered. They told me the package was currently shipped and should be delivered by Sat. Aug. 24th.
My place of business is closed on the weekend so that meant I didn't get it until Monday, Aug 26. Those emails should have at least apologized for the delay and explained why I didn't get my package when I should have first received it. Nothing was mentioned about any problem, just that the package was showing shipped.
AFTER I gave up on anyone responding to my two email requests, I called my local store. Thru phone calls at my local store, they directed me to call the store that my package was supposed to have shipped from, in Wyoming, MI. I called them from the number my local store gave me. They checked and saw the package was still sitting there in their store and hadn't been picked up by FedEx, 4 days after the shipping label was created, 1 day after it was supposed to have been delivered. They told me they've been having issues with FedEx not picking up their packages. Even if they were, someone at Menards should have seen this package still sitting there AFTER it was to have been picked up and been on the phone with FedEx letting them know they hadn't picked up the package. Had it not been for my phone call, my package would still be sitting there today.
I received the package today. I was greatly disappointing in the poor packing of the box I received. It was shipped in a poorly mangled paper towel box. The box was very beat up. All padding inside the box was just on the top; nothing on the bottom. The first of the 8 boxes I picked up from within the packing box, all 4 lights in that box dumped out on the bottom. The bottom of its box had been opened and not taped. Another thing, nowhere on the shipping label or packing slip did it have MY NAME, not anywhere. My place of employment did not know who the package was for. I PLACED THE ORDER, NOT my employer. My name SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE LABEL! My email confirmation shows MY name and in care of my employer’s name and address. I will never order online again from Menards. This was a horrible experience.

You will have to keep on top of them. Ordered a 16 x 7 garage door - took 10 days to order because it didn't have a "wind rating" (this was them - not us). After they gave us runaround, We finally called door manufacturer and within 5 minutes found out when it comes to Midwest, they only have 1 wind rating on those doors.
When we went to store to order - they tried to charge us $200+ to put "wind rating" on invoice. This is an UPCHARGE - why pay that to just put on your invoice when you can download from manufacture if you need? Save yourself money. This was end of June into July for this portion. So the order finally comes in and gets delivered mid-August... minus track, spring, and spring bar. They "don't know what happened!!!" Passed the buck to manufacturer, delivery, etc.. It seems as if they hire one knowledgeable person in each department and then a bunch of students to fill in the rest. Then when I go ask them for help, they usually don't know what I'm looking for, or where it's located. If you are lucky enough to be there on 1st shift, and it's not a weekend, they will go find the only person that knows anything about that department, if he's not on vacation. The inventory & order tracking systems have made beginning and finishing my fence project nearly impossible. I have wasted a lot of time and money navigating the inefficiencies in the customer ordering process. First, the delivery charge of materials were about $80, and I immediately noticed that I would like to add additional materials. I called the Menards to see how to change the order. They suggested placing another order as in-store pickup in order to avoid another $80 delivery charge for a couple of items. They agreed to make a note that these orders were together and should be delivered at the same time. I made the mistake when the online ordering process changed my location to different store than the original order. I noticed the issue immediately and tried to remedy the situation. It took several phone calls/emails (~4hrs of my time) to first only receive half of my refund.
Upon further follow up I was able to receive a full refund less a $3 "processing fee." Furthermore several pieces of the changed order were never delivered, but the online system suggesting that I had "picked them up at the store" (which never happened). It took several more phone calls/emails to be refunded money for items never received (~4hrs of my time). Next I needed to purchase and pick up the remaining fence pickets to complete my project. I went to a store near my house, and purchased the pickets using a gift card in the store, then drove to the lumber yard to pick them up. However, they were never found to physically exist. I was instructed to go back into the store to be given a refund. Since it was a gift card, I was given "in-store credit" only (~15 miles driven).
The next day I found some pickets at a store about 25 miles away. I tried to purchase online to reserve the pickets, but the "in-store credit" that was originally a gift card could not be used for online orders, so I decided to drive out there to make the purchase in the store. When I arrived, I was told that they were most were just sold and 11 still existed. I went through a similar process as the day before (physical inventory did not match computer and received in store credit). I asked if they could either order more or find another store where they physically existed. Their system showed that the store I went to the day before had physical inventory. I shared that I was doubtful, and they said that the store would do a physical check and call me in 15 minutes. It was suggested that I begin driving over there because it was about a 40 minute drive. On the drive I was told that the inventory did not physically exist (surprise!).
Apparently a couple other customers were having similar issues with this product that made their 1970's dated inventory system show incorrect information. I asked if they could simply order them for delivery since I was not able to use the "in store credit online." Then they shared that I needed to go back into the store to be able to place the order. They could not do it "over the phone." After being passed around (~10hrs & 50 miles drive), I still can't finish my project. I have no trust that the any store will help, and I will be wasting $10 packaging fee + $13 shipping fee just to avoid working with these inefficient outdated stores ever again. This brings the total waste dealing with Mendards to about ~18hrs + $25 + 65 miles driven). Sometimes it is better to just cut losses and find one of the many more suitable competitors. Please do yourself a favor and avoid (unless you physically see exactly what you would like to buy at the store I suppose).

I was charged a $9 handling fee for the forklift driver to pick it up and drive it 40 feet to my truck. One manager told me that the cashier might be able to remove the charge. When I asked her if she could, she got other employees involved (5 total) and called a security guard to her register. I never once raised my voice, cursed, or said anything mean or rude to anyone. I've searched the web and read other reviews of Menards which are unfavorable and now I can support and add my views & experience. Frankly, my voice will be merely one from the chorus – BBB reviewed Menards and Menards earned an ‘F’ from BBB with this prevalent comment: The business responded to the dispute but failed to make a good faith effort to resolve it.
I'd summarize their service or lack thereof as "institutional indifference" combined with a lack of familiarity with products and service. Staff of Menards hardware, Hardware Associate Buyer, Menard, Inc. as well as Menards “guest services” are unwilling or unable to write a reply to written requests, form a response or simply acknowledge a written contact in a business-like fashion; i.e., indifference and simply unresponsiveness, either intentionally or innocently.

I ordered wastebaskets online just because they no longer sell them in the store. They held the package for days after the shipping label was created before sending out. Finally get a confirmation that it had been delivered but it was not there. After finally locating the package I was waiting on it was covered in small bugs and not even the item I ordered. Tried many of times to email and call but had to leave messages which never got returned and they would not get me to a live person when calling the switchboard until I threatened to dispute the charges.
A lady comes on the line requiring me to send pictures proving it or she won't do anything for me. After days of trying to get a hold of someone I was not getting off the phone without it being resolved and I'm not going to carry an item that I didn't order around with me. I told her better yet she could send a return shipping label and have the product back but she still refused to do anything without a picture sent to her. What happened to customer service these days because Menards sure doesn't have any.

I decided to order a shower including the base/glass, and then a surround with an insert. The total came to about $1750. The base w/glass came as ship to home only for free. So I had selected the other two free shipping items as ship to home for my convenience not realizing it would cost me $155 shipping. The total was $1900+. My mistake, as soon as I hit the order button online is where the nightmare began. Yes I realize it was my mistake. I did not realize they have zero avenues to talk to an actual person over the phone. Everything must be done through email.
Upon my mistake, I immediately opened an online ticket to cancel my order. Or if possible ship the surround and insert to the store to save $155 in shipping costs. It took 2 full days to get a response saying they couldn't do anything and if I wanted to do something I would have to cancel my order. I responded asking some questions like could I speak to someone on the phone, and could they redirect shipping to store for me, they took over 24 hours to respond with another no and that they can't speak over the phone, only email. I have since requested they respond in a more timely manner and cancel my order immediately and am waiting on another response.
The email system is God awful, I had sent them 2 emails within a few hours of each other and they took 24 hours to respond to the oldest one, and didn't even answer the most recent. It is the worst system for customer service I have ever experienced, when you can't even talk to a person to resolve an issue over the phone. Not only that, it takes 24 hours for someone to respond to each inquiry you send to them, and they seemingly respond to each separately at the rate of one response per day. I will be swiftly cancelling my Menards card and using Lowe's and Home Depot entirely going forward. I really had no issues with Menards otherwise after using them for almost 15 years, until I decided to test the online waters and (even though initially it was my mistake) the customer service is basically non-existent.

Although it seems the quality of the material these patio chairs are made of is good, the workmanship on them is extremely poor. You must put them together by screwing a bolt into a pre-made hole. The hole has a nut welded onto it. You cannot get a single screw into these holes as there is welding slag blocking the way on some, and on others the nut is welded on crooked so the holes don't line up. This is true with every single hole on these chairs. I needed to drill out the welding slag, and re-thread the holes in order to get them together. A homeowner that just wants to bolt these together as you should be able to do, will not be able to get them together. I have put together many Ikea and Swedish furniture pieces for people, and every single hole lines up. These chairs are made in China. Menards should do better.

I sent three trucks from their Warren Ohio store to our build site in New York. NO issues other than minor items which we had to get fixed. Never dealt with customer service before. 1st time I order a item and they could of deliver for less than $13, so I thought great. Well FedEx said they delivered the item, and the Exact time they said they did. We had a local window film contractor in the drive and working on the Front windows. No way FedEx could of delivered without him or the other 2 people (Wife and Granddaughter) there at the time knowing.
I offered that information to both FedEx and Menards. The contractor was willing to talk to them. Menards stuck to their faulty story. I sent many emails and asked to then to call. So I even called and requested a callback. Well no one ever called back. Did the same with FedEx. Well I am sorry to say after 45 years dealing with Menards as a loyal customer even purchasing from them and trucking material to New York I am done. Purchased the item from the Home Depot. I tried downloading the rebate, but every time I put the rebate number in, it was "invalid". I then called the gentleman I spoke to said it was online, however, when I shared what happened, he sent me the rebate receipt. Thank goodness I made copies of everything.
I waited until at least 8-10 weeks to receive the rebate. I then called the main office. I was transferred to the "Rebate" department. The recorded message instructions were to send copies of everything regarding the rebate to Eau Claire, WI. The recording was very specific about the spelling of Eau Claire, which made me wonder why. So now, I have to send in the paperwork again with a letter stating that I did not get my rebate. I can't help but wonder if this is a technique they use. I am sure there are some people who just send in the paperwork, and fail to make copies and then get the recorded message and have no paperwork. I am sure there are some people who try to call, and then just give up! I can't help but wonder if I send the copies of the copy I made, if I will get the rebate of $43.89. Couldn't find the right ceiling fan/light in 2 Menards Stores. Resorted to better selection ordering from Menards online. We thought we found the perfect fan with all the particulars we needed. Received fan very fast < 48 hrs after placing order. Husband found it easy to install. Directions weren't specific on determining which wire was for the fan control vs the light. We already had the wall switch/dimmer for operating fan and light in use from previous ceiling fan. He figured it out with one of his tricks. It looks beautiful. Operates whisper quiet but it's only been up a few days and not used in the winter.
Only issue is that the light fixture really only provides mood lighting. The light globe that came with it is a lovely amber glass which was stated on the description. It also came with 2 incandescent 60 W, candelabra tip bulbs. That just doesn't brighten the room up enough to find things buried in dresser drawers etc. It's being used in a bedroom. The description of fan failed to note the candelabra tip bulbs which we believe provide less bright light. We then changed bulbs to LED, daylight. That helped only some. Now the light that is cast in the room is an odd greenish color. It's some brighter with the bulb change but because the light globe is amber and the fixture only has 2 bulbs-small tip it seems it's just not bright enough when you want the max lighting. It doesn't seem that Menards has a replacement globe in white. But need to continue to shop around.

We were both excited as we looked at the bathroom vanities at Menards. They "looked" nice. We found one we liked and ordered it. One week later I received email our vanity was in. I brought it home and after opening it up, discovered it was damaged in several places. So, we took it back.
I asked to speak to general manager. I expressed my frustration, said we have everything almost completed with renovations. And now with this damaged vanity we would have to wait again for a new one to arrive. I said to him, because I picked it up and had help from family to carry it in my house and then have to carry it back out. And return to store, Menards should deliver the new product for free. He argued with me. Said it was my fault for not inspecting it at time I came to store to pick it up. Anyway he reluctantly said ok on delivery.
About week later I had email confirmation vanity was in at store. I called and man in delivery said he had no information on Menards delivering. So, then I spoke to a manager and he said I would have to call general manager next day to discuss this with him. I wanted my vanity now. So I could get it installed. I waited long enough, I didn't want to wait another day and speak to general manager who was argumentative few days ago.
So I went to Menards and went to dept. to pick it up. They got it on forklift and was ready to load in my truck. I said, "Hold on, general manager told me week ago it's my responsibility to inspect before taking it home." So I proceeded to open up packaging and a nice employee helped unpack. I took video and pictures while we were unpacking. And found damage to the vanity and poor workmanship. I asked for a manager. This particular manager was very nice and I received a full refund. To this day I am waiting on a vanity. However it has been ordered from an actual local reputable cabinet maker. I know now it will be top quality material. I have been a builder 45 years in the Peoria Il. area. I dealt with the same lumberyard for years before the Big Box places came around and forced them out. I have ordered material and had it sent out wrong and fixed with phone call. NOT AT A MENARDS!!! I have a history with a local store manager that when he was a front end manager at another store an employee gave him my credit card that a employee never returned to me. They had other cards in their safe and he cut up my card. His manager said he gave him 2 weeks off for the action and he has since said he got no time off.
Fast forward 4 years now. He is the manager of my local store and I still hear his words, "Ha ha. I cut up your credit card." He and I got to a point where we tolerated each other until today. I ordered material to be delivered to a job and specifically asked for what I needed. The unexperienced employee went on the computer and clicked on a similar item and since they were both Type S I never gave a thought until after it was delivered and I had 5 angry block layers waiting for the right material saying this is WHY they NEVER deal with Menards. I had to rush over to the store to load heavy items I paid for delivery on my trailer left on the job. I called the manager and he did have the correct material on a pallet ready when I got there.
A inexperienced fork truck driver came to put it on the trailer and after several failed attempts to get it between my wheel wells I finally guided the guy to get it between the wheels but his lack of expertise he could not push it farther forward and I asked if I could drive the fork truck. He said no. So I put another pallet in front and he could not push it with that. With 5 guys waiting I took off as he said he would have to call someone else. Then disaster struck almost to the job. The unplaced load made the trailer disconnect and caused the trailer to swing like a pendulum by the safety chain. A witness said it lifted my truck rear tires off the ground a foot as I tried to stop it. I was in both lanes trying to get control of my truck. The tongue of the trailer smashed the whole back of my truck.
I went back to the store to get other items that day and showed an employee what it did to my truck. I told them I wanted the incorrect material picked up by the next day at the latest. The skid weighs 3500 pounds and I was not going to return it for them. Since my first encounter with the store manager was a dead end even though the local police called Menards corporate about the actions of the new store manager. They honestly don't give a crap about ANYONE.
I offered to return the skid of materials for the return of the delivery cost. He said no. I told him that was the best I would offer since they would not pick it up. The replacement materials I bought yesterday as well as another ticket I purchased on my business checks yesterday. I called my bank and stopped the clearance of them. I guess it is a start of recovering the damages they caused me. The cutting up my credit card incident cost me a change of flight cost and I lost a nonrefundable hotel room I booked as I did not get there the day he cut up my card. Some advice if it is worthy enough my attorney told me we are going to sue the employees personally that caused me damages and with great delight the GUY that cut up my card. NOW he said I cannot shop at MENARDS again LIKE he is KING. Albeit he has little man syndrome. TOO bad.

Their return policy states - "Special Order Returns: Your Menards® store will refund special order items at its sole discretion. Please note that there will be a 25% restocking fee." Roofing is expensive, so no one can afford a 25% restocking fee! Now I have a roof that is a close enough color to my siding that it clashes, instead of the color we ordered that would have matched our houses accent trim.
When we asked about ordering paint to paint it, they told us we would have to buy their touch up paint (similar to car touch up paint with the little brush on the handle), take it to Sherwin Williams, have Sherwin Williams color match it, then have Sherwin Williams put it in spray cans. I cannot believe they told us to go somewhere else to color match paint! After this experience, I am glad we won't be shopping there anymore.

If zero or negative stars was an option they would get the worst score possible. I purchased a special order pole building and my entire experience was an absolute nightmare. They took my money with a smile, but when it came time to take delivery, they screwed up just about every aspect of my order. My POLE building didn't include the POLES as part of their kit! I had to pay almost $2000 out of pocket for 18 6x6x22' posts. I spent hours and hours on the phone with the building materials manager complaining about the ridiculousness of the situation, only to be offered zero solutions. That was their biggest screw up of my project so far, but there have been many others along the way.
Their special orders department is a dumpster fire. They WILL screw up your order. My roof needed 6 10 foot long ridge caps, and they sent (and charged me for) 60! It took me 4 hours and a full tank of gas to load up and return their mistake. Associate employees that I would speak with would tell me how poorly run their store is, and that the managers routinely blow off customer complaints. My project is already nearly $3000 over budget and it is 100% due to MENARDS' MISTAKES! If my pole building wasn't already halfway built, I would return every last item I purchased and never give them another penny as long as I live. I have all the paperwork to prove everything I just stated, I welcome anyone to message me about my situation. I could talk all day about how terrible this company is. I truly hope this review goes viral, so that no one makes the same mistake I did.

I bought 15 boxes of Vinyl Planks and a number of the planks were broken at the tongue and groove. I had to return. I had very little help with questions because the departments are younger kids and they have no experience. I then got self stick tile and when I got them out to do floor there was literally no stick to back of tile. None! It would peel right back off. I returned them. I am a first time DIY’er and tried to trust the department and their advice but I am so upset! I bought the 3rd floor and it was 16 boxes of Laminate flooring. $500.00 worth. They didn’t even help me load them in my cart and when asked about the broken smashed and peeling tongue and groove on numerous boxes, I was told by the floor manager to just use a utility knife and cut the broken parts.
I have 5 broken boxes right now and have to return this floor to. I took 3 boxes of broken planks back and exchanged for 3 new boxes. I was a plank short from one box where I removed the broken part of it and forgot it at home. I was told that I was to open the new box of planks that I exchanged for the broken ones and remove a new plank since I was short one from the broken box. I freaked out! First of all, I had to go through hell with buying, carrying tons of flooring alone and beginning a floor installation 3 times only to have to repack all up and return because it was broken or didn’t stick as promised and they actually was telling me to give them a plank from new box that was exchanged for broken box. The plank left at home was like the rest in box BROKEN.
I realized then why all 3 floors had a problem. They are reselling broken flooring. Why else would they tell me to open a new box that was exchanged for broken if they were not making a full box and reselling. Despite, they should have been more accommodating since this was my 3rd floor from them in a row that was not in good shape for a nice install. I was so angry. I am exhausted right now from buying floors, starting installation, packing up, carrying all back in a small Mazda 3 car, returning, getting another floor and same deal! I walked out crying Friday night after they told me give them a plank from new box and they knew damn well that numerous boxes were broken and they told me to use a utility knife to cut broken part off floor.
I got home and opened boxes and t5 boxes that have broken tongues that lock the floor in place. I only made it to 4th row and all the planks were coming apart on the first 3 over and over because they won't lock in place. It was a discontinued floor to and they had 17 boxes left when I bought the 16 boxes and the 17 box was broken too so I didn’t get that one. I can't return broken boxes and get good ones cause it’s discontinued. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN! I also thought that maybe painting the concrete was a good idea instead since I was having no luck with other flooring there and the paint department was young kids who couldn’t even answer any of my questions regarding paint and concrete. It seems looking back that it always a pain in the butt when I used Menards stuff.
My body and brain is so tired from this mess. If I get problems returning the 16 boxes of broken floor then I am going to freak! I did use a utility knife like told but it was on tons of the boxes and it won't lock so I won't have enough floor to finish job since they have 1 box left that broken to. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE!! I told the lady when she asked me to give her a new plank from new box in exchange for missing a broken plank from box returned that I get it now! They should have been throwing the broken box of planks away so why would they tell me to open and give them a new plank so they had a full box of 7 not 6 if they were not reselling??.
After all the hell I went through why would they even dare ask me to open a box and give them one. They sold me the broken plank that was unusable and I had to go through the hell of carrying them, getting half installed floor and ripping it up 3 times? The lady at returns rolled her eyes, gave me smirk when she asked me for new plank, was condescending and treated me like I was the one in the wrong and they were doing me a favor. Sorry I typed so much! I am just pissed right now and stuck with 16 boxes to return again! I have some good boxes but with 5 bad boxes I don't have enough flooring to complete the install and it's discounted so I can't get more!!!! I am in tears!

I received the product and at least 10% of the bags were either ripped or the pellets. Called and talked to the manager, Tony. Said he was sorry and would swap out 9 bag for me. I asked for the delivery charge to be credited since I stayed home all day rather than 1/2 day. The product is poor, like sawdust. The delivery is very very late. I took saw back in and proceeded to pick up about $300 worth of electrical supplies and a different saw. Now the rub! I took the cart to the exchange desk and I was informed the exchange could not be made unless I removed all the "residue" (wood chips and bar oil) from inside the saw.

Well first off it was a floor model so technically it was still in its original package because that’s how we received it!!! And second yes we used it because that’s why we bought it not for it to just sit there!!! And a 7 day return are you kidding me? How can it be 7 days that gives you no time to even try it or anything. But that’s not their fault. What’s their is they didn’t even try to make us happy. Menards has seen the last of us as a customer, due to their unethical practices. We had previously stopped shopping there, after they repeatedly carried no inventory of sale items on the first day of the sale. Once that store closed, we decided to try the new store in the area. We recently purchased $1,600 of deck railings, which were not in inventory, so we were forced to order them online in the store. When asked, the salesman assured us that any of the items could be returned for full refund, in the event that we found that the quantity ordered was incorrect.
When we tried returning an excess panel ($200), we were told by the store manager that there was a 25% restocking fee because it was a "special order". There was no persuading him that this was not appropriate and the salesman denied ever telling us that the items were returnable. Since Menards was holding our money hostage, we had no choice but to take the $50 loss, but this will be the last of our money that they will ever see.

I can count on 1 hand how many reviews I have left for a business but this one was so shocking, I just needed to take the time to share my experience. On 8/7/18 I called the Bay City MI Menards to verify they indeed had the 3 sets of hunting climbing sticks their website said they had before I wasted a trip to the store. I called and they said, "Yes, we have 3 sets" so I drove ~ 1 hour to get them. Upon arriving I could not find them and went to the desk and they called someone to come help me. His name was Tyler and he was very helpful but unfortunately he could not find what they claimed they had in stock and explained their counts must be off.
He was very knowledgeable and even went as far as to look up the upcoming truck deliveries and found out which truck would have more and when it would be arriving. In the meantime I was looking at another set of climbing sticks and he looked up the price and told me the box I had in my cart was X price. Since they were so inexpensive I figured I would get them so my trip was not a total waste of time. I went to cash out and this is where my experience went south in a hurry. Upon cashing out the cashier told me my total was ~$140 and I commented that couldn't be right and we started verifying the prices. We found the item Tyler previously looked up and gave me a price on rang up 4X more than what he told me so she called over her supervisor/manager named Ebony.
Ebony did some checking and said the price that rang up must be correct and I explained again that I just spoke to Tyler less than 5 minutes ago and asked her to contact him to verify. She simply responded "he must be new and not know what he is doing because they rang up at $59.99" and she stood there almost waiting to see what my reaction would be or if I would purchase them anyways. I grabbed the item from my cart and sat it on the end platform of their checkout lane, That is when this supervisor/manager decided to have the last word by saying "Thanks for doing that, it saved me the work". Both myself and the gentleman in line behind me just looked at her in shock and disbelief.
Not only was MS. Ebony unwilling to reach out to the person that just less than 5 minutes ago, she also insulted him by "assuming" he was new and didn't know what he was doing" but then inserted her own version of customer service by getting the last word in and thanking me for removing the item from my cart and saying in a snide tone "Thanks for doing that, it saved me the work".
After leaving I called back to the store and asked for Tyler to thank him for going above and beyond and also to let him know about the price discrepancy but he was out on his lunch break. That is when I found out he has worked for Menards for ~ 8-10 years and has traveled all over the state to work at and help set up other stores in and out of Michigan so he apparently is the new dummy that Supervisor Ebony that he was. If only she was as willing to try and look into the details as much as Tyler was she would not have portrayed such a poor example of customer service and cost her employer what had been a long standing customer.
I will NEVER spend another dollar in that store and have already told numerous friends and contractor contacts about my experience. Two of the three contractors at work made comments along the line that it did not surprise them one bit and have had multiple similar experiences so apparently this is more of a culture for some VS an isolated incident with a person that may have been having a bad day. I will shop anywhere BUT Menards going forward. All because of one rude woman that made a customer feel like her investigating a price discrepancy was a major inconvenience and felt the need to end the experience with a snide comment almost to get the last word in and show me she wasn't going to do something she didn't want to do.

We purchased a power washer. When doing so the sales rep stated if we see the price go down in the next 30 days to simply bring receipt to cust service desk. So 19 days after purchase we were at the same store shopping in Taylor MI (new store). When passing by the power washers we decided to see the price... It was $20 less. We were happy and said, "Wow that never happens to us." So I purchased some pool supplies and we stopped at the rebate desk on the way out and gave the story to a girl there. She said, "Yeah 30 days is our policy." So we drove home and came all the way back same day on a Saturday afternoon.
As we enter the store we are in a line (one of two) about 10 people deep at cust service and returns. We finally made it to the desk and the lady asked, "What can I do for you?" I said, "Just a simple price adjustment please." I handed her the receipt and she grunted and as she was handing the receipt back to me sharply said, "Our policy is 14 days sorry." I said, "It's not on the receipt and two of your employees here said 30 days... We just drove home and back again to clear this up based on your employees' direction." She smirked and replied, "Well sorry. If ya want ya can return it or exchange it." I said, "I love the power washer and plus did you notice on your receipt it states and gas powered item cannot be returned or exchanged if it's had gas or oil in it and not in original package." She said, "Well sorry sir. I can't help you."
So my better half piped up and asked for a manager. The rep said, "He's at lunch. Sorry mam." So I said, "You have to be kidding me. This store just recently opened." And we walked out. Next I go online, find the Menards guest service email and write this all up nicely... Monday comes and I get a one liner that said, "Sir just return or exchange the item." I replied and let them know that he needs to read fine print as I can't return it.
24 hrs later the guy named "Ray" came back and said, "Sorry there is no price adjustment on this." He used exclamation point and was rude. So I asked for a manager and he replied, "Sorry no price adjustment Andrew." I wrote Ray back and told "Ray" we again want a manager and how this is not good business. They don't care. I got another one liner. We are sad as we love shopping there. We thought HD was bad. Nope. Menards is worse. I now have to boycott. What can you do. It's the principle here not the cash. 2017 July. Purchased a special order speckled roof, matching cap, and paid the extra money for the matching color of the speckled self tapping screws Port Huron Michigan. I told the guys in the pro section the size of the roof and gave them all the information needed to get me what I need. 15'*30' structure with a 5 pitch roof, 6" overhang on the left and right side and zero overhang toward both gables. Roof came in around October. My background Is carpentry/builder, have a builder's license, and do have experience putting on metal roofs. So I'm a contractor, but this was for myself!
My site location is 35 miles from my current location, meaning I drive a 70 miles each time to go there. It's a 20 acre lot, front of the lot nearest the road has a wetland section and the back in regular land. The location has 3 creeks flowing through it, with muddy, hilly terrain, with a 15' wide trail going back 1500'. So that means its 3000' for a round trip to carry one item to where my construction site is. The framework was up in July for the building and have been waiting for the roof to come in since then.
So no notification for several months and I call every 2 weeks, till late in October I was told it has been sitting at Menards for about a month. I needed this roof to cover my skid steer and multiple attachment before winter came that was came in late August, to protect not just from the elements, but critters that love to make homes and food in the oddest of places. I also had other valuable equipment I needed covered as well. So I carried all the roof (3 pieces at a time) from my covered van through the woods, through the creeks cold current, through mud, up hills, to where it needed to be. Please keep in mind I made a 15' wide path, so nothing scratched this roof. It was 15 trips. That 9 miles to carry the materials in case anyone cares. So I'm putting this roof up myself. No one to help me, middle of the woods, and now I'm super pressed for time because in a week there's suppose to be snow and a major temp drop.
Issue #1 - Well the self tapping screws were garbage, every one of them, couldn't penetrate the steel. They would spin spin spin and never tap. So I had to run out and get a special drill bit and drill every hole. But I'm sitting here looking at some of these screws that are also suppose to be speckled, and few had speckles and most were just a sold color and maybe 1 spec. Bottom line I could've saved a small fortune and bought the plain jane steel roof screws and save myself from buying the drill bit.
Issue #2 - Some of the panels and numerous scratches on them, so I had to dig through the pile to see how many. 9 panels and some were dent gouges like from a machine, cause it was repetitive. Regardless I had to still put them up cause I was out of time. Figured Menards would give me some matching paint and it was covered under warranty. Issue #3 - The guy behind the counter assured me I had enough cap and assured me with multiple associates that there was enough for overlap. Well there wasn't, cap was 6" short. Regardless, I put everything I had up and was done and it snowed 5 days later with the major temp drop. The roof was a sheet of ICE.
So a week or 2 later I went to the Menards, closer to my home instead of the job site, New Baltimore, Michigan. Used the card at one of those print receipts computers to get my receipt and go make me complaints at the pro desk. Well after standing there in line for 30 minutes, I get someone and end up asking for the manager, because it was obvious he was clueless. So another 30 minutes goes by manager shows up and starts helping out another customer cause he cut in to ask a quick question! So manager tells me TY for my patience. He'll be with me in a few minutes. So I'm like well ** I stood here for an hour another 10 minutes won't hurt, it was a 40 minute wait.
Finally he gets to me and I tell him all the same information and he tells me I need to go to the Menards where I purchased the roof at, cause there was nothing he could do. So my jaw hits the ground and I go out to Port Huron. These guys wanted me to take the roof off and bring back the panels for inspection instead of looking at the ** pictures on my phone. The phone has big screen and extremely nice detailed pictures! So I argued they should give me an extra cap/or part of a cap to match 2', the paint repair kit, and a reimbursement for the 3 drills bit I had to buy for the self tapping screws. They told me that sounded fair and then said they wanted me to pay for it!?! I mean seriously, these people are freaking idiots and what the hell good is the warranty to the roof, if I'm paying for the repairs and doing them???
This isn't the only job that Menards has screwed me over on, in a major way. The people at the PRO desk and complete and utter idiots, every time I ask them question, it's "I don't know," "I don't know," "Let me check what it says on the site," and they read me word for word the description like I haven't done that. Zero information, zero customer service, zero help, zero warranty, and just expensive junk. It might look nice, but something about it is junk and will cost more than its worth down the line.

A few hours later I received an email from the local store manager advising my order would not be in until 4/16/18. At the time, the fact that the date promised was more than 90 days beyond the purchase date was not an issue. I expected to pick the item up after the date it was promised to be in. Unfortunately, when I did arrive at the store within two weeks to pick up my order I was sent to three different places in the store before I was told it was not there and they had no way to get one because it was discontinued. When I asked for a refund I was told I could only get a store credit because it had been over 90 days. My response - "Whose fault is that?!"
It is now going on 3 months of going back and forth with corporate through my BBB complaint. They are holding to the 90-day refund policy. Even with all the documentation I provided the latest from the Customer Service Manager - The refund policy was spelled out and I had opportunity to cancel my order after I received notice that it wouldn't be in until 4/16/18. Seriously?! Had I known that not only could Menards NOT DELIVER on their promise but that they did not have the courtesy to notify me of that BEFORE THE 90 DAYS, I would have indeed requested a refund within the deadline. I spent well over an hour inside the store, walking from aisle to aisle, looking up at the tops, down and the floor displays, writing stuff down, and generally looking inquisitively. NOT ONE worthless customer service person asked me if I needed any help or even acknowledged I existed in their world! Seriously, NOT ONE!
I was back in the paint department asking a question about putting Killz/primer on a floor and I didn't know if I should go with latex or if it mattered? I asked the young tall ** guy in the department, and although he was polite and tried to help, all he did was the same thing I could have done, read and examined all the products to see what the labels said! I then made my way through the entry doors, HVAC stuff, tools, lawn and garden, windows, insulation, then outside and looked at their yard maintenance stuff and chemicals, and still, NOT ONE PERSON stopped me and asked if I had any questions, NOT ONE PERSON even looked my way!!!
I did go back to the paint department at the end of my journey, I saw a few garage floor epoxy kits on clearance for a very nice price, so I picked up two of them. I asked that same ** guy if there was a way they could add some black paint to them and he said no, but did try to offer some advice. There was a 30 something heavier ** guy that was also polite and tried to be helpful, there was a smaller ** woman working who walked right past me several times and I must have been invisible to her also.
The only person that was genuinely nice and greeted me (and this was probably out of boredom) was the cashier. Other than the ** guy, heavier ** guy (both of whom I initiated the conversation) and the cashier, probably 15-20+ employees walked right past me for well over an hour. I don't need that garbage, I won't tolerate it, and I certainly will NEVER EVER shop there or recommend anyone shop there. I am a contractor and meet new people every day and you can be sure that every chance I get I will tell my tale!

My husband and I shop at the Menards in Pekin, Illinois regularly. More often than not, an extended warranty is purchased with major products. In May of 2018, a self propelled push lawn mower and a weed trimmer stopped working after the first use in the spring. They were both still under the extended warranty. I called Menards to find out where to take them to be fixed. They instructed us to take them to Small Engine Speciality in either Peoria or Washington, Illinois. We opted to use the one in Washington.
After 9 weeks and numerous phone calls to Small Engine Specialists, it was obvious they were't in a hurry to fix our merchandise, the warranty by this time had expired on the weed trimmer. I proceeded to go into the store and tell the manager the problem. Menards tried numerous times to call SES without any success. Menards stood behind the warranty/took the merchandise that didn't work & replaced it with new merchandise. Kudos to Menards!

Used to love shopping at Menards until 7/10/18! I went to my local Menards in Oakdale MN because they had a filter for my pond, when I got there the filter they had left on the shelf had been sitting there for at least a year with dust and already had been opened. So I decided because it was the last one and my fish needed it I was going to try and price match to the local PetSmart! When I asked if they would price match it the lady at customer service was rude and I sat in line for twenty minutes while other customers sat in line as well! The main manager on duty just walked over and completely ignored the situation so I decided to say forget it! I was super angry because even though I showed them the website they still wouldn’t price match it! I apologized to the people in line and expressed that this is poor customer service!!! I will never again put money into this business!

I have shopped at Menards for many years. Unfortunately, the items keep getting poorer in quality and the people working there know nothing about what they are selling or what is in their store. I asked for specific lighting from a Menards store (which they even have on their website). The lady said "I've never heard of those kinds of lighting - you won't find it here - and probably won't find it anywhere else." Really? I ended up ordering it from another company. Additionally, I have purchased multiple "Patriot Lighting" items from Menards. It is TOTAL GARBAGE!! I've had to take 2 things back already in the past, mostly because either pieces were broken or missing. Unfortunately, I had to buy one more piece of this garbage (for lack of other options locally). Just opened a track this morning and of course, one of the ends is missing. Surprise surprise. Now I get to take yet another trip back to Menards to get rid of this garbage.
I not only won't be buying anything else that is Patriot Lighting, I won't be going to Menards anymore. I've owned businesses before, and wouldn't be caught dead selling this low-end garbage unless I owned a dollar tree and it was expected to be low-quality crap for a buck. I understand it's important for businesses to offer an array of price ranges and those low prices often include lower-quality products from China; however, there has to be a line drawn when a mass percentage of the products have issues such as pieces broken, missing, etc. Where is the line drawn with safety? Since this is lighting, I don't feel safe putting any of these lights in my home.

I purchased this high(est) end Larson's storm door from Menards. The glass is supposed to be e-rated but obviously is not. The door traps so much heat in summer (and winter) that the molding on my steel door window has warped in 6 months and the paint has faded (see picture). Even worse is the fact that the glass and the storm door handle get so 'very' hot that it is a burn hazard. A kid visiting my house yelled in pain when she tried to open the door. Another kid whose face happened to touch the glass/knob had red burn marks on her face. Adult guests have been caught by surprise at the temperature of the glass and knob i.e. amount of heat the glass and doorknob absorb.
This door is a lemon, an accident waiting to happen. I want to return this but Menards customer service (Wixom, MI) is miserable. Door construction is also very poor. It is difficult to remove the glass and insert the net. Hinges are not reliable. I am very disappointed with this purchase - a product liability sitting on my front door. Please note: Many of my neighbors have storm doors and NONE of them have this problem. None of those doors are 'Larson' brand!

We ordered all our house interior doors at Menards on 5/19. 17 sets of doors were to be made by Mastercraft a special order vendor with Menards. We were assured that the doors would arrive in a weeks time and that text message would follow apprising us of the delivery. Sure enough a week later (5/26) we received a text saying doors were ready for pick up. We lined up our installers/carpenters to pick them up but were given only 6 doors. We were told the rest would come later.
After 5 more days we get a text about arrival of doors. This time we ask them for delivery however only 6 are delivered. Our carpenters had another half day wasted. We made several calls to Menards to no avail. Nobody could definitively tell us the status of the doors. Finally in utter frustration we head back to Menards and talk with the manager. His only response is that it was out of his hands and he didn't know the whereabouts of the doors. We were told to deal with one of his salesman. He finally assured us that all doors would arrive by 6/15.
In the meantime we have had a call from their installation contracting dept. that all doors are in. Another false alarm since they had no clue as to the status of the doors and had not bothered to check. Apparently the computer records were not updated they tell us now. After another few days we were blessed with one only one more door. Today we come to know that the remaining doors will not be delivered until 6/21 a full week after what was a definitive deadline. We have now totally lost it. Excuses have ranged from bad workmanship and returns to shipping issues.
Now the latest excuse is that MasterCraft (the manufacturer) have run out of raw material. I am an Architect and it's normal that there maybe a day or 2 day or even a week delay but I have yet to see such gross delays. What is most frustrating and infuriating is the total lack of responsibility, accountability or any remorse from managers or asst. Managers. Their only response is that it, "Is out of our hands".
Their record keeping is awful. Sales manager don't know whats happening in receiving and the manager has no grip over anything. I frankly don't know how they manage. If this keeps on I don't see how they are going to survive amongst their competitors. We are at this moment at their mercy and they know it. We have absolutely no recourse but to grin and bear it. I am finding it extremely difficult to say this (because I am a fair person) but my experience with Menards customer Service is the most awful I have had with any store. Disgusting!!! They are a huge store with lots of goods but they lack the most important item in their store and that's a heart.

Avoid this company like the plague. For the sake of your sanity do not shop at Menards, specifically the one in Warren, Michigan. I purchased a toilet there in March 2017, had it installed in August 2017 and by January 2018 the toilets’ porcelain had worn off in numerous places in the bowl. When talking about this with various local Menards stores, I was given different ways to deal with the problem. The easiest solution given to me was to return the tank with some pictures showing the damage. This was done and a replacement was provided. The removal and the reinstallation of the replacement cost me $120. Menards told me to submit an installation Complaint Form to their corporate office.
This form, the requested pictures, the receipt, an estimate showing the cost of the reinstallation all had to be sent to their main office in Wisconsin via “snail” mail. There is no phone number or email available to the customers that I could speak with. Their corporate office in Wisconsin has no way to communicate with them to express concerns or complaints. (What big box store has no way to contact the main location directly? What are they hiding from? The store employees claim they also don’t have direct phone contact with the main office either!)
After waiting almost 3 weeks for a response to my submission sent by certified mail since I wanted to be sure this was received, I get a letter in the mail from Menards telling me that they forwarded a copy of my complaint to American Standard who made my Eljer toilet. Soon thereafter, I get a letter from American Standard the manufacturer of the toilets telling me that their warranty does not cover installations and as a “customer courtesy” they were going to send me a $25 Menards gift card. Is this “customer courtesy” a joke? I was advised that I had to call American Standard to confirm receipt of the letter acknowledging the $25 gift card. I had to wait on hold over 30 minutes to get to talk to a person there. The representative there told me that this was the maximum compensation that they would provide. What a joke!
I have reached out to various Menards stores and was even advised by the Wixom store who I should talk with at the Warren store as he, (the Wixom associate) said he would reach out and was sure he could convince the Warren manager to do something for me. The Wixom person gave me the name of Roland to reach out to. I attempted to have a conversation with him and he did not seem interested in helping me in any way. He clearly did not want to have any conversation with me and basically cut me off and I ended the conversation at this point.
As I previously mentioned I spoke with different stores stating different things EXCEPT consistent information stating that the extent of their obligation is to replace the item. An assistant manager of the Warren store told me during one of these conversations that had I just gotten the toilet painted I would not have incurred this reinstallation cost. I asked why that was not an option provided to me and was told that they don’t provide this service. (Why then would that have been a suggestion after the fact)?
Had I known that this could be fixed by painting I would have done that. I have exhausted myself trying to get somebody to help me but nobody will. I do not understand how any big box store can function with no email, fax capability or corporate phone number us to reach a customer service or customer care department. Most stores have management, (loosely used term) that is filled by people that are too young to know of or understand what good customer service is.
Menards has lost me as a customer at all of their local locations as a result of the incompetence, lies and misrepresentations provided from their various stores. While each store carries the Menards name, each store is basically independently owned and operated with inconsistent policies and procedures. Buyer beware unless you are willing to go through extreme grief and aggravation. This may not be the company for you as I know it is certainly not the store for me. I only wish I had gone online to see all the negative feedback about them on the various websites.

I agree, paying for them to pick. It is a stretch, but I do. Well, I placed an order like I have done many times in the past. After I pay, I get a notice that one of my items (Fire Door) came out special order even after I selected in-stock items. I quickly looked for the number to call. There is now, no number. I wait 2 days no response. Door is stil in process at the MFG, not to ship for 8 more days... Still no number to call. So, I call the store. They cannot, or will not help me. They transfer me to the front desk, the front desk says the department has to help me. I look online for the corp number. They transfer me to a phone that is NOT answered and only takes Voicemails. Customer service finally responds online. Says, I have to wait for the door to come in, and then they will return it. At a cost of 25% to me for restocking fees. In summary it took me an hour and a half to pick up a drill bit to purchase at the store and some common spikes that I had already paid for online. I was at the Livonia, MI store on Middlebelt Road on April 9, 2018 looking for a Schlage single cylinder deadbolt combination and keyed entry. There was a sale sign indicating an amount of $34.98; however, because the various boxes were not in their proper spots, I had to verify which box had the proper SKU number to coincide with the price. It needs to be noted that there was only one sale sign in this area.
When I confirmed that I had the proper box with the SKU number matching $34.98, I proceeded to checkout. The cashier told me the price was $49. I asked her to check confidently explaining the time I took to ensure that I had selected the product matching the SKU for the sale. She had someone check and after waiting over 5 minutes, I was told that it was not $34.98. I went back to get the sale sign myself for the cashier and was SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE SIGNAGE HAD BEEN CHANGED.
I asked to speak with a store manager, who at first said there was nothing he could do. When I told him he needed to at least look into it, he told me he had to go by what the signage says now. If I hadn't spent so much time verifying the SKU number on the sale sign with the item I wanted to purchase, I may have thought that I made a mistake. I had to remove the sale sign in order to read the SKU numbers on the signage. When I went back to check the price myself, the signage was so different that I thought I was in the wrong aisle. Aside from the sale sign for the item I wanted to purchase being gone, there were now two different sale signs. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT MENARDS AGAIN.

I immediately attempted to find a phone number to call them to cancel my order - but there was no phone number!!! That was the first sign that I was dealing with a shady business. I then had to email their "customer service" dept. with my request to cancel my order. This request was made within 24 hours of original purchase. They proceeded to tell me that they could not cancel my order because it had already shipped. I could send the items back but I would have to pay the return shipping costs!
First of all, common sense would dictate that if you place an online order on a Saturday night, it has clearly not shipped by Sunday morning! Especially if part of the order was to be shipped via USPS (it's not even open on the weekend!). So they just flat out lie to their customers. I then contacted FedEx on Monday morning and instructed them not to ship the order. The order was refused and returned to Menards. The other portion of the order that was to ship USPS, I was unable to to stop delivery but I did refuse it once it arrived at my door on Friday evening.
All items were returned to Menards. I have not once been contacted about my refund. I got so frustrated about this whole ordeal that I contacted my bank and filed a dispute. Now Menards will have the bank and Visa to contend with. Oh... And I also reported them to the BBB. Be advised, these people are thieves - do not do business with them. I hope there will be consequences for this company. They need some serious help in the customer service dept. They are not willing to help the customer at all which is just a bad business model. Secondly, they should obviously not be lying to their clients about order status. If a customer wishes to cancel an order within 24 hours, this should be honored - no questions asked. Lastly, there should always be a physical telephone number to reach someone in person to handle issues. In this day and age, there is no excuse for this.

Waited a week, but nothing was showing that the toilet was ordered, funny that after was had been in there that the display now showed order placed and on its way. But this kept showing for another 5 days, then today the 10th of March, it showed the toilet as being placed on order as if it was just ordered. I went back to Menards and asked to see what was wrong, no one knew what was wrong, one person told me I wasn't giving it enough time, but how was it supposed to ship in one day since the following day is Sunday.
I started out at the front desk and then told to go to the plumbing desk, so had to wait there till someone became available, luckily someone saw me and was kind enough to help me, again I was told I had to go to another desk, again I waited. I became frustrated enough to where I decided to just cancel the whole order and go elsewhere. Yeah, the toilet was cheap at Menards, but what good is it when they cant get it when I'm told it will be there? The person at the return desk informed me there was a 25% charge for restock fee, for something they never even got. Makes me mad that I had to pay a 25% restock fee on something just to get my money back, cause they sure acted like they didn't want to bother helping me in finding out why my order got all messed up. I took the refund and bit the loss for the restock fee.
It does not take 3 weeks to get a toilet that can be ordered, why is it that I went to Home Depot, that the same toilet can be ordered and come in within 6 to 11 days. I asked them about any restock fee if it doesn't show, and nope, no restock fee for an item if it doesn't show up. they gladly cancel out an order and give all your money back. Guess what Menards, I'm done buying from you, my local Home Depot will be getting my business. I will make sure everyone I know knows about your practice of charging that ridiculous fee for an item you never even have. Upon returning home, I noticed that the return receipt does not match my original receipt, same SKU numbers and price, I got back what I would if it would have been the right receipt, but whoever ordered that toilet will now have their order all messed up. I didn't order an Eljer toilet, I ordered an American Standard toilet.
Why do you have the SKU for an American Standard and Eljer? Really makes me wonder about this place. You knew darn well that the toilet I ordered would not be in by Monday when it shows it was just put on order. Home Depot it is, they seemed so happy to make me happy and satisfy my needs, went out of their way to make sure the order was right. A bit more in price, but at least I know I can get the toilet I want in a decent amount of time. I waited just about 3 weeks, but they say I never gave it enough time, but why did the order show it was in delivery and then disappear? What about this ripoff 25% restock fee of items I cant even get and you don't have the item I spent my money on to get. It's like having to pay to get my own money back for something I was promised I would have by now.
Not one person could even find out where this item went, they didn't even want to take the time to find out cause they were too busy they claimed. It's ok, I went to Home Depot, I ordered one there, it will be in within 6 to 14 days, much sooner than Menards' promises. No restock fee at Home Depot if it shouldn't come for some reason like the one at Menards. Never again will I order from Menards, not with this crazy way of charging a 25% restock fee when they cant even get what you ordered. Home Depot doesn't charge that. Looks like there will be another unhappy Menards customer by the receipt they gave me back, it's for an Eljer toilet, same price as the American Standard I ordered, but at least I learned my lesson and got out of ordering from this place. Good luck to whoever ordered the Eljer toilet, I have your receipt.

We are remodeling our house. We have spend close to 10,000 by now at Menards. We rented a truck to pick up a tub surround from Menards but when we opened it; it was the wrong one. This is very heavy and I am unable to help my spouse move it and why should I have to. It was a special order. I asked for Menards to deliver free of charge my expected one and take the wrong one back. I was told no. They would let me borrow a truck; but first I had to pay the rental. What the heck. They made the mistake but don't have to make it right. I now have to wait and see if I get the order again. I have no way of getting it here. Not sure what will happen but I would shop anywhere but Menards. They don't have good customer service and they just lost our business.

Menards says 11% discounts. We went and spent over 2000.00 because of the 11% lie. Don't fall for it or depend on it. I flip homes and go without the thought of getting fake discount. I go to the best deals without the discounts. Menards will more than likely give a discount if you have a 50.00 dollars purchase. We still didn't get ours and it’s been over 90 days.

Purchased some lumber online because their site showed a discounted amount for a given period. Even though I had placed my order 3 weeks before the offer was posted to expire I was charged the regular price. When I spoke with them about it I was told their site didnt get updated and they would not honor the discounted price as posted when I ordered. Evidently Menards has little concern for customer satisfaction.

Product (Lumber) had a lot of damage and no others were available. Only want to discount less than 20%, said that cost. We both know you will never sell the piece of plywood at cost. Offered to buy at 50%. I believe that was a fair price. No veterans discount either. I went to Home Depot where I bought a thick piece for $3.00 cheaper and not damaged. I save over $12 total on my order. Thanks to your unfriendly staff for that. I will probably never shop there if I can help it.
