Building a house and spent, so far, $15,000 to $20,000. Ordered cabinets, countertop, and cupboards on December 14, 2017. Estimated delivery date of December 28, 2017. Counter arrived, but no cabinets or cupboards. No call from Menards on delay. Called Menards and was told by two different employees that the delay was due to a Christmas shutdown by the supplier and the new date was the week of January 11, 2018. When asked why they didn't know about the shutdown or delay, since they have the relationship with the vendor, they told me it was just an estimate and they do the best they can. Swallowed hard and said ok, but if I had known it would be 5 weeks, I would have checked other options for this purchase. January 12th and still no word from Menard's so I called them and was told the items that I ordered were in.

I went to Menards on Saturday morning to arrange delivery of the kitchen package and additional items. By paying $119 instead of $59, the delivery coordinator said they would deliver all items inside on Tuesday January 16, 2018 between 7 am and noon. Around noon the box truck delivered most of the items, but I was shorted 1 of the base cabinets, 2 sheets of drywall, and the quartz countertops. The delivery driver, Chris, assured me the countertops would be there later in the day on the flatbed and he would find out about the other items. Nothing came on that day. I called the store near the end of business on January 16, 2018 and asked to speak to the store manager. Larry got on the phone and I asked if he was the number 1 guy in charge of the store and he said yes. I explained that I needed the base cabinet in order to install the countertops.

He said the cabinet was shipped to Muncie by mistake and they would pick it up and deliver all to me the next day, Wednesday January 17, 2018. On Wednesday about 1:30 in the afternoon the last cabinet and the missing drywall showed up, but no countertops. Once again, Chris the delivery driver, said it would be coming on the flatbed and the delivery coordinator would be calling. I asked him to remind the store that I needed the countertops as I would be going out of town for 4 days. No calls and no delivery the rest of the day. January 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st there was no call from anybody. Back in town on Monday January 22nd, I drove to the store to set up the delivery. I asked to speak to Larry the store manager. I was informed Larry was not the store manager, but an assistant.

Finally, Chris **, the store General Manager arrived and I told him my story and said I needed the item delivered that day or I would be canceling the order and returning everything else. He said I had a bad attitude and would not respond to my ultimatum... his words. Yes, me, the customer that has spent many thousands of dollars and relied on his staff for accurate delivery information, accurate shipping capabilities, etc... had a bad attitude. He said they do not deliver inside and could not help me. When asked why his people charged me extra for inside delivery, he had no answer. When I asked for his supervisor's name, he said he didn't have one and walked away. This is where I find out it isn't just Chris ** and his staff are lacking in customer service skills, but it is throughout the entire culture of Menards.

I went to the parking lot and called Menards corporate offices. I was sent, 3 times, to a recorded message about writing a complaint letter. I asked to talk with any supervisor and was denied. I asked for any supervisor's email or phone number and was denied. I asked if I could leave my name, number, and email address for a supervisor to call me and was denied. Ultimately, I made three trips in my van in a 3-hour period and returned all items, including those that were yet to be delivered weeks late. I was only given a partial refund. They kept around $400 as a restocking fee. I have since heard from their attorney as they want me to take down a website I created called menardsstinks.com and that ain't going to happen!

If they fail, you will still pay and you won't be able to talk with anyone about it. Please think about that before you give them your hard-earned money for empty promises and rudeness. I did ultimately give the manager, Chris **, a hearty ** and have since been trespassed from the store, That's right, after I said I wouldn't be shopping there again, they said I couldn't come back. Like being fired a minute after you resign. These folks are like the lumber mafia. Feel free to contact me at menardsstinks.com and I will be happy to add your story to the list.

Others need to know of their no customer service policy. If you are aware of any crimes being committed by John Menard Jr., Chris **, or any other Menards employees, please contact me. Theft, embezzlement, pedophilia, discrimination, etc... I want to hear about all of it. That's right, if you know that John Menard Jr. is a pedophile or any other unsavory or illegal behavior, I want to know and the world deserves to know. These folks are like a gang!

Back in Sept I spent almost $2500 at Menards for roofing materials. I filled out the rebate form and mailed it to where they said to mail it to. MONTHS go by never got anything. I sent them emails, letters telling them about this matter. Checked online. Said it was issued Nov 2017 but never received it. They said they would issue another one. Still have not received it. I called Menards Corp office and the lady on the phone said she couldn't look on the computer to see what was going on. That I would have to mail a letter explaining the problem. What? I just told her the problem. So I wrote the letter. No response from Menards Corp office either. This was 2 weeks ago. What's this? Another scam. Never received my 11% rebate.

Now, it's already January 2018 and I haven't receive any cent of the said rebate. I spoke to the customer service at the store, she told me to keep on calling and to fax my receipts. Are you kidding me? Looks like the rebate program is a bluff!

I purchased roughly $135 worth of items from them a week ago. I paid $47 with a Gift Card/In Store Credit and roughly $93 was Cash. I returned one of the items worth $109, due to having received a similar item as a gift for Christmas, so I thought I'd return the item I had just purchased myself. When I went to return the item Menards forced a $47 gift card on me prior to receiving the difference in cash for the item.

Even though they scanned the Gift Card/Merchandise Credit first at checkout, and paid the difference in cash, they forced the Gift Card BACK on me prior to receiving my Cash Back. Their receipt reflects that the Gift Card was tendered last. This is how they get you! This is how they scam their customers. They force you to repurchase items in their store instead of giving you Cashback for purchases where you paid with both. Do not do business with them! Don't say you weren't warned.

He reluctantly gave me in store credit. No one should have to put up with that kind of service. I will probably think twice about shopping there again!

Horrible place to return items. I manage properties. You have to return everything to manufacture for warranty. Buyer Beware!

I spoke to the staff on the phone to honor the 50 years warranty and they refused and hung up the phone. They are trying to rationalize the situation to get away with it, so spend your money where the company will not lie and steal your money.

I have had the absolute worst customer experience I have ever had from this store and its management team. I ordered a Vanity top for my bathroom on 9-30-17. When it came in the holes were drilled wrong. So we went back to the store and asked the Manager on duty in that department, "What could be done to get this back in a timely fashion since we have waited 4 weeks to get this one," he said he would call the vendor and get back to me, but it may be faster to credit this one that is wrong and place a new order and let them know that they made a mistake and he needs this vanity back in a couple weeks.

I never received the phone follow-up back from Robert as promised, so I called back the following day to get news of what he figured out. He tells me that it will ship and be in the store by 11-17-17, this did not happen, I never got a follow from the store to tell me if the vanity made it in on Friday 11-17-17 so I called and asked to speak to Robert. He then states that the vanity top will not be in the store till the 11-27-17, at this time I very upset!!! I ask Robert to follow up with me the day drops in the store so that I can get it in.

Needless to say this did not happen. So my wife then gets a email saying the vanity will be in on the 27th and I can pick it up. I go to the store and 6:00 pm and wait 1 hour and 30 mins for the agents to find this vanity top, when I get it home the vanity top is the wrong color and now has no holes in it. So I call back to the store and asked for Robert. I explained to him that this one is not only the wrong color but has no holes drilled into it, he never once apologized, he said there is nothing he could do expedite this. Basically he was trying to blow me off and offered no type of resolve and that all he could do is reorder and he could not give me a lead time on how long this would take, I then asked for the General manager's name and that he should try calling him that night and explain the situation and see if he could do something about this and have him call me first thing in the morning on 11-28-17.

I receive a call from the general manager Kevin **. He asked what he could do and I explained the issue again. And begged him to get this right and get this vanity back to me in two weeks and as a leader of a store he should work on coaching his Management team on how to deal with upset customers when it clear I only want what's right, nothing extra, nothing taken off the price. Just get it to me in two weeks so I can get this done before Christmas now.

I also sent him photos of the vanity showing that it was clearly the wrong one and that I dont think I being unreasonable about this and that this vendor need to fix this and get it back to me in the two weeks I'm now requesting, so he says he would do this and then has a young lady the next day from the department call me and let me know that he has sent emails and that I will have the vanity back by 12-13-17.

I realized that I had not heard from anyone on the 12-13-17 so I email Kevin today, he has Stan from that department call me and let me know that this vanity will not be in till after Christmas. I asked to speak to Kevin, he tell me he has done all he can do and I can wait for it or just stop the order, I told him he has not done all he can do, he said "Are you calling me a liar?" I said "No, but you can get this next day air." He said because of the size and weight that this not possible and begun to be very rude and said "If you dont like this then you can go elsewhere!"

This manager is very rude and felt it ok to talk down to me as if I am stupid, he obviously cannot see from the customer's side on this. I deal with clients every day and no we are not perfect here either, but we do understand that if it is not something the customer did to cause the problem we fix it without question and do what we need to do to make the experience better.

Obtained a rebate form #4700 from store manager. Rebate #4700 is an in store adjustment rebate and the form can only be printed in the store. It is not available for print online. Manager informed me to fill out form, attach original receipts and mail in to receive an 11% rebate. Sent this form in with several others. All other rebates processed EXCEPT Rebate #4700. Inquired by email to Menards Customer Service regarding the #4700 rebate. Customer service responded by informing me that requests for information would only delay the rebate. Sent a reply stating that I was sorry to "bother" them. Received an email a day later from another service rep offering to assist. After two additional weeks I made another inquiry. Received the standard reply of "requesting information" would only delay the rebate. I responded previous inquiries. Produced no result.

A day later another service rep contacted me and offered to help. They asked that I provide them with the receipts and another form. I responded by telling them the manager told me to include the original sales receipt when I turned in the form because it was an "in store adjustment" the 11% rebate was not listed on the bottom of the receipt and that is why originals would have to be mailed along with the form. I informed the service rep that form #4700 was submitted at the same time as several others and all the rebates were issued with the exception of #4700. Finally realizing the In Store Adjustment is nothing more than a scam and further inquiries would be useless I informed the service rep I will be more than willing to provide, in the spring, a receipt for all materials related to a multilevel deck and sun room. Unfortunately, for Menards, that receipt will be from Home Depot. I doubt I will hear back from Menards anytime soon.

We just finished remodeling our kitchen. Some of items we bought were on the 11% rebate. We mailed in the rebates each time we purchased an item that was on this promotion. We have gotten all the rebates but the biggest one we turned in. When I went to research it, it was not showing up in their system. I called the local Menards and was told there were 3 possible explanations: 1. I mailed the rebate to the wrong address. 2. I entered my address incorrectly. 3. The typical answer-the mail lost it.

Let me just say I have their address saved on my computer and print the label each time. And since this is the first rebate I haven't gotten, that excuse doesn't work. As for my returned address, it hasn't changed in 30 years. I'm ready to start the next house project which is to remodel the bathroom and have been waiting on this rebate. If Menards is willing to lose thousands of dollars on future sales for a lousy 278.00 rebate, they obviously don't want or need my business.

I purchased tiles to redo my flooring in my basement bathroom during their 11% rebate. I Mailed in my rebate form along with the receipt and waited for my rebate check to arrive. It was past their 6 weeks time frame so I decided to go on their website to check on the status. The website status said they mailed my rebate check out 9/26/17 and that was two weeks from the date I checked on the status. I looked for a phone number to customer service and it doesn’t seem like you can speak to a live person. The only way to contact them was thru email. I emailed and received a response 3 days later that my rebate was sent on 9/26/17. The email was of no help since I already knew that and had requested for them to reissue it.

I had to respond back. I needed it reissued as previously stated in my original email. It is now November 2017. I still have not received my rebate check and not a response to my 2nd email. I just sent another email requesting a call or manager to resolve this. The rebate wasn’t for a large amount but they need to make good on their end. It is extremely frustrating that a company like Menards can’t afford to have live customer service reps to speak to and the email responses are terrible! I will no longer support such a company that does not value their customers!

When we arrived back at the store 30 some minutes later with the trailer, we were told that the last piece was sold to someone else. They took our money (and STILL have our money for that piece), then let someone else take the item. We were sent out of the store, so we called for a store manager. A man named Craig claiming to be the store manager said that it was too bad, he wasn't going to cut us another piece to match unless we paid an additional $326.89!

He laughed at my daughter over the phone, made fun of her to a woman standing near him while they were on the phone, and threatened to refund the money for all of the pieces (keep in mind that the rest of the pieces were already at the house) then file a police report against her for theft! Emails were sent to the corporate office (not sure if or when we will ever get a response at this point), and complaints filed with the FTC, DOJ and BBB. But as of right now, we are out the money we paid for that piece, and have half a countertop set.

The fact that anything ordered online is a special order and subject to the 25% restocking fee should be clearly stated when you order. First of all, I live in a village where there are NO mailboxes. Only P.O. boxes so you cannot even use my physical address. Second, why not simply call me for this information and all would be fine. They told me that it would be 7-10 days to re-open my account. After 12 days passed without any contact I called them. My guys had to go get the materials and make the correct delivery. The head GM at Menards in Normal, IL then proceeded to drop the "F" bomb on me, and tell me it was all my fault. Then we had to return 70 pieces out of the 160 pieces we had ordered, due to bad material in one way or another.

Then because we placed the order online, we couldn't get a refund using the online receipt, I had to go in there myself. I have a total of 5 hours invest in returning $600 worth of flooring. AS a customer, as a business owner, I feel like Menards is one of the most difficult companies to do business with. They insulate themselves from their customers and the delivery company in such a way that there seems to be no way of getting any real accountability from them as a company. This is my first review of Menards, but not my only complaint. I should have been doing this for the last 25 years.

Here is my complaint to them on their private review site - I own Prairie Renovation in Bloomington, IL 61701. On Monday Sept. 4, 2017 I placed an order for Douglas Fir, T & G Porch flooring online. I place a fair amount of orders online, and I called in right away to make sure that the order was going to go to the correct place (job site), as I was going to be traveling out of town and I wanted my guys to have the materials that they needed. I wanted them delivered on Thurs 9/7/2017.

I got a call on Thurs saying the delivery would happen on Fri. Then I got a call on Friday morning from the delivery driver, he said he was dropping the supplies in front of my door (at my shop) instead of the job site. Needless to say, I'm upset. But it got much worse when I called the local Menards to talk to someone about this, and the GM in Normal, IL - "Darrin" got on the phone with me. He wasn't helpful and he used the "F" word with me. Now I've been in business for 30 years, and I've never done that, nor do I think it's even remotely professional or acceptable. I've been a customer for a very long time, and with all of this last debacle, I'm debating on whether or not I want to stay a customer. I would appreciate it if someone would follow up with me at **.

I purchased 168 patio bricks 8 x 16 (7-5/8 x 15-1/4). The bricks are poorly manufactured. The width 7-5/8 ranges from 7-1/2 to 7-13/16 making it impossible to match up lines. I have my lawn all ripped up and ready to install these bricks only to find out they are not square or close to the same width. Some vary by 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch from end to end. I called the Saginaw Menards where I purchased them, the Manager said "Let me go measure what we have. You must have got a bad batch." She called back to inform me she had measured what they have in stock and they measured 7-1/2 to 7-3/4. These are worse than what I already have. She said I could search through the 3 pallets they have to see if I can find 168 the same size. I asked her to do that because I don't know what size to look for. The manager was not willing to help.

I asked for the store Director. He was no help and a liar. All he would do is return my money or charge me over 2 times as much for a different similar brick. I asked if he was willing to help on the price since the other bricks are defective. His reply was "They are not defective. "All bricks have some variance." Really 1/8" to 3/16" from end to end and you think they are going to line up. That's funny, I measured about 50 bricks for width and length width varied by 1/4" but the length was 15-1/4" on every brick, did not vary more than the width of the line on my tape measure. Then he said "I was with the manager when she measured the top layer and they didn't vary by a 1/16", so someone there is lying so basically bring them back or pay over 2x more we are not going to help you. The part that really upsets me is the lying. This will be my LAST purchase from Menards!

DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR DECKING MATERIALS FROM MENARDS. I spent over $2,500 on lumber for a new deck from Menards, after it was installed 5 months later every post was split and twisted in place. My brand new deck looked like total crap, also this made my handrail become unstable and unsafe. Menards did exchange the 15 post I had to replace but will not help me out on having to pay for the cost of labor for my contractor to take them out and replace them.

No one should have to pay twice for the cost of labor to switch out the post only 5 months after having them installed. The brochure that Menards has on the quality of lumber they carry states "premium grade of lumber" as well as, "built in water repellent". I think not, this is the worst lumber I have ever seen. I understand lumber does weather over time and is unpredictable, but 5 months later?? I wrote Menards a two page letter letting them know what I had experienced with the lumber. They sent me a FORM letter and did not offer me anything in return for having to pay for labor again. Their "premium lumber" is not so "premium", it's crap.

Now I no longer own the personal item that I sold, and I am not getting the item from Menards to replace the one that I have sold. I have tried numerous times to contact the customer service, but they are refusing to resolve this issue.

I am furious as a customer, and I will take my business elsewhere from this point forward. We have yet to receive our counter tops from Menards. These were ordered in May and it is the middle of August and we still do not have a kitchen. I have to call every other day and have them check the status. They do not follow through and check with the vendor without a call. It has been one problem after another. They were off an inch on measurements, they did a customize on the sink (can't do that for an under sink), had a sink in the order that didn't have a template from American Standard, etc. Issue after issue and until you call and ask, it just sits in limbo.

Also, there is no such thing as management to speak with. They just transfer you to the department. I went to the store and speak to a manager (they tried to tell me she wasn't there) and that did nothing. She won't check on my counters and give me updates either. I understand if it was the 1st or 2nd issue, but we are on about the 5th now. I am sure Mr. Menard would not put up with no kitchen. We have a table in the back bedroom with a coffee pot and NuWave, our old frig is in the living room (while the new one is outside in the garage in the heat) and we are using a sink in our basement laundry room for dishes.

We don't feel this is the customer service us or anyone else should be receiving. I could go on, but what good would it do. We have paid, yet they say if we cancel there is a restocking fee. Isn't that stealing? If someone from Menards want to contact me, please do. I have too many order numbers to list below in the one order number spot. We were doing our whole kitchen with Menards and are out a lot of money for no kitchen. They don't seem to care when you remind them that every change is a change with a contractor.

After arguing for about 20 minutes I agreed to a replacement which also did not work. I returned the original product within about 45 minutes of purchase. The production date on the product did not match the exterior production date of box. I'm not complaining about the product (it's made in China, you take your chances), but basically being told I'm a trying to rip them off when the manager said "You see how this looks from my point of view". When I drove to where my smart side boards was supposed to be stored I couldn't see them. I asked a nearby Menards employee if he could help me find and then cut the 16 ft. boards into 8 foot lengths so that they would fit in my SUV. Jeff stopped what he was doing and said that my car was right in front of the boards and that he would be glad to cut them.

He went right to the wood that I had purchased and pulled the 16 footers out, carried them to the saw, cut the boards in half then loaded them into my car for me. This guy was great, I was really impressed with the size of Menards lumber yard and storage barns, but service that I received from Jeff was even more impressive. I have visited and made purchases from the Wixom Michigan Menards and always found helpful employees throughout the store; at the registers and customer service center. I would highly recommend Menards Wixom for any home improvement project.

Lied that our product was loaded, now refuse to get it to us - I live in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The closest Menards store is in Cheyenne, WY, which is about 260 miles away. My boyfriend and I ordered a three-part order from the Cheyenne store on June 13, 2017, making it very clear at that time that we needed to pick the entire order up at once, since we were literally on the other side of the state and would be driving more than 500 miles to get these supplies. The employees understood and assured us there would be no problem. After we called several times about the status of the order, on June 30 Mason from Menards called both my boyfriend and I and left us messages confirming that our entire order had been personally verified to be in-store, was in the back in one location, and ready to be picked up. We called back and arranged pickup for July 4.

On July 4, my boyfriend got to the Menards Cheyenne location at noon. It took him almost 30 minutes to get an invoice and the receipt from our prepayment 3 weeks earlier - which is when he realized the financing we had asked for had not been applied. He was told to pick up the order in back, and fix the financing afterwards. He was finally given the paperwork and told to drive to the back supply yard. Once there, he spoke to two different employees who could not find our order. It turned out our order was scattered in various locations around the store and yard, unmarked.

Working with an employee named Warren, he was able to find the trusses and get them loaded on our rented trailer by 12:50. It took another half hour to find and load a single, 16’ wooden case he was told contained all the siding and accessories, a crate that we were billed $150 for. He did not finally get the window and door and leave the yard until 1:55pm, 2 hours after he started trying to pick up our order, and almost 90 minutes after starting the loading process.

At that point, he had to return to the front desk to deal with the financing - which the employees admitted was their mistake, they had not done the purchase/charges correctly when we paid by phone when the order was placed. They apologized, and said, “This happens all the time”. It took another 45 minutes for them to completely cancel out and recharge the entire order to make that mistake right. Since the 48 month financing was one of the selling points of using Menards, my boyfriend was very patient and polite while this mistake was fixed.

During the loading process in the yard, my boyfriend stressed repeatedly that he wanted to verify the entire order - including the siding and accessories. He even pointed out the invoice, which asks the customer to verify the order. The siding and accessories came in a ~16’ wooden crate with opaque plastic on top; Warren assured him the order was complete and told him more than once not to open the box because there was no way to reseal it for the 4 hour, 260 mile drive home. My boyfriend asked again before leaving if he should open the crate and check, but was assured again by Warren that all the siding was in the box, absolutely, for sure.

When my boyfriend unloaded and opened the siding crate tonight (June 5), there was no siding - only j-lock and corner pieces. I immediately called the store and spoke to Brett, who told me upfront that he was the only general manager for the Cheyenne store, and the only person who could make any decisions about our order. I explained what had happened, and that we could not afford to make the 520 mile round trip to return for the missing siding. I asked him how we could get the rest of our order to Rock Springs, or what we could do to make the situation right. He told me that they couldn’t even find the siding, and would call me back once he had located our missing product, but that ultimately there was nothing he could do except have the siding ready for pick-up once located.

When he called back after finally locating our siding, I explained that gas for the trip on Tuesday had cost us over $150 round trip, and renting the trailer had cost us an additional $200. I explained that we had given Menards our business because we could just afford to make the trip to pick things up and still save money compared to what we would have spent at Home Depot in Rock Springs. Another trip back was simply way beyond our budget until I went back to work in the fall (I’m a teacher).

Brett admitted repeatedly that he had spoken to Warren, the employee who had been in charge of locating our order and loading it, that Menard’s was 100% at fault, that our siding order boxes had not been stored together nor had they been marked in any way to indicate there were two boxes in the order, that yes, my boyfriend had verified in all ways aside from opening the crate that the order was complete, and that Warren had told Brett tonight that my boyfriend had asked yesterday about opening the crate but had been told not to because it could not be closed up again.

Brett said over and over, “I would be as upset as you are,” “This is completely our fault,” “We messed this up,” “I’m really sorry and will do anything I can do make this right,” but told me that after checking our order, we had not spent enough to be eligible for more than $100 in compensation. I explained that $100 would barely get us to Cheyenne, wouldn’t get us home again, and wouldn’t pay for the trailer. If we had to pay for two trips, we would have spent almost the same amount we could have paid to have the items delivered to Rock Springs, and significantly more than if we had simply given Home Depot our business.

Brett agreed that he shouldn’t ask us to spend so much money and time when it was his store that had majorly messed up, but there was nothing else he could do. He then suggested I was being unreasonable in not gratefully accepting the $100 he offered. I hung up at that point, I was so angry.

I discussed the situation with my boyfriend, and he then called back and asked Brett if Brett could have the order delivered to the Caspar Menards. We will be passing through Caspar on the 18th of July and could rearrange our trip to pick the siding up without going too far out of our way. Brett said no - the siding would have to be returned to the manufacturer, reordered from Caspar, we would lose the 48-month financing because our total would be broken into two orders at that point, and (he was very quick to mention) we were no longer eligible for any type of compensation. He also told us there was absolutely no guarantee of when the siding would arrive in Caspar, and having it there by the 18th was unlikely - but we could gamble if we wanted to.

We then asked if the siding could remain in the Cheyenne store until late September, when I (a teacher) would get my next paycheck and would have some extra money to rent the trailer and make the trip. "No," he said, he cannot store product like that. We have a maximum of 14 days to pick it up, then it will be returned and we will be charged a restocking fee. If we agree to return it now, though, he won’t charge us a restocking fee, but we need to decide right away.

In the end, Brett told each of us in multiple conversations that his store and employees are completely at fault, they “really screwed up,” and he’s incredibly sorry, but there is simply nothing Menards will do for us to make this right. He assured us both, in multiple phone calls, that he is the only person allowed to handle this situation, there is nothing we can do but to return to the store within 14 days to pick up the order, and we are being “unreasonable” to expect anything additional. He even indicated that the $100 is more than anyone else at Menards would do for us, and he’s being generous.

I contacted customer service and received a reply from Ray that said, "I’m very sorry, but we are unable to further discount our already low prices. Thank you for your patience and understanding." They will not call me. When we called back this morning to arrange pick-up of the siding, since my house *has* to have siding, Brett told my boyfriend he is not refunding any of the packaging cost, and he is no longer offering any compensation. He has decided to return the siding and we can "just figure it out."

In the meantime, the siding is $5 less per piece on their website than we paid in store, and shipping (which the store told us was not an option for siding) is $297. That means that we can return the siding (the credit card company is disputing the charges for us) and reorder it with delivery to our house for only $160 more than we originally paid, half of what it would cost us to return and pick it up. I will also be contacting the manufacturer of the siding to let them know of our experience and find out if there is anywhere else it can be purchased.

Bottom line: Menards will go out of their way to steal product by claiming it is loaded when it is not, then refusing to refund the price when they find out you can't return for what was forgotten. Bring tools to check and reclose any type of packaging, triple verify that you actually have you order, plan to spend an entire day trying to purchase from Menards, and DON'T expect any kind of customer service.

When I called the number and talked to Ryan in Wisconsin, I was told that unless I could provide receipts and prove which Menards store the items were purchased at, they would not honor the credit. I have called them several times and always get the run-around.

As of now, they still have the merchandise that was returned, and have yet to honor the in-store credit. I have not shopped with them since. They are completely taking advantage of their customers. I will never be able to resolve this issue with them, and they will keep the returned merchandise that I paid my hard earned for, and not honor their in-store credit. I guess it's a good thing we have a Lowe's store close to us. We will have all of our personal and business needs met by Lowe's from here on. It's a shame they have lost customers like us...

Purchased 4 bath tubs, Menards only had only two in stock and so it could not be purchased on their website. Rob helped me to place a special order where I could buy the 2 in stock and Menards would email me when they had two more for pick up later. Requested Rob to pull the two tubs as my contractor would be coming to pick them up the next day. Called later in the day and found that the tubs were not pulled from stock and Rob had left for the day, spoke to "Will" and he said that he would pull the tubs from stock for my contractor.

Contractor went this morning to find nothing had been done and had to wait approx 2 hours to get the tubs and there was no one to help him load his truck. This level of service stinks. Called one of the front managers and all they said was sorry. What Menards does not seem to understand or care about is that a workers time costs money. In this case it was the contractors time and his workers time who were waiting at the job site.

On May 12, 2017, I visited the Menards in Lawrence, KS and received some of the worst service that I've ever experienced. I purchased a #1 premium perennial and after I looked at my receipt and saw the perennial rang up at $5.77 and not the sale price of $3.33 I brought it to the attention of the cashier and she flipped her light at the register on for assistance. A very nice young man came over to assist and he contacted the garden dept to confirm that there were signs stating the sale price. We waited for approx 5 minutes and there was no response back from the garden dept.

In the meantime, Jordan, from customer service walked over and asked what the issue was and I explained to her about the sale sign and that the sale price didn't ring up and she told me that it wasn't on sale that ONLY the plants in blue containers were (mine was in a brown container). I told Jordan that I wanted a refund for the plant I just purchased if it isn't on sale and she credited my card $6.29. I went and put the rest of my purchases in the car and came back into the store to double check the signs and take a few pictures.

After I confirmed that the plant I originally purchased was, in fact, on sale and took a few pictures I went back to the customer service dept where Jordan was working and told her I'd like to show her the pictures of I just took and I said, "There are no blue containers anywhere near the sale signs as you had said the blue containers were the only plants that were on sale," and she didn't say anything. And I said, "So...?" and Jordan replied back, "The plant you purchased was not on sale." I said, "The plant I purchased is right here in the pic right next to the sale sign. I'll just contact your corporate office." Jordan replied, "Go ahead." REALLY! Her reply was, "go ahead" in reference to contacting corporate.

I'm very appalled and be certain that I will tell EVERYONE I know about my horrible experience and how RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL Jordan was and she works in CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Posting this to social media is my first step in getting my voice heard. I'll definitely be writing a letter to Menards' corporate office in Eau Claire, WI.

However, beware of how they process rebates, you have to look up the Rebate #, fill out the form and then mail in the form. There are supposed to be ways to trace the progress of the very slow rebate and yet after 2 months of waiting, our name still does not appear. I feel Menards is a horrible home improvement store, they don't even honor military discounts either. Plus the contractor that was working on my home had to go back to the store a dozen time. Because they didn't place any nuts or bolts in the toilet box. Plus the shower kit set went back twice because it didn't properly have all the parts in the box. Space doesn't permit me to write about the problems, manager incompetence and general lack of concern for their customers. I wish I could give no stars. The Menard family should be ashamed to advertise, "Dedicated to service and quality". What a joke! There have been a couple of bad experiences at Menards. The last one involved me going two times to pick up garage doors to no avail. Me once and me paying a contractor the second time. Guess what? I still don't have any garage doors. The doors were purchased at Evendale and I was told to drive around back to pick them up. I finally get there after the guy at the gate telling me the wrong place to go and they tell me that there is only one after the salesman said they were in stock. I then ask them if they were available in the Loveland store. Paperwork was transferred to Loveland.

A couple of days later my contractor on my nickel went to pick them up and he was told there is no paperwork to back that up and he wasn't able to pick them up and no one did anything but say to go back to Evendale to fix the paperwork. Are you playing a practical joke? Where are the cameras? If I was the Menard family, I would change my name. If you want to know how not to treat the customer, go to Menards! I have filed a complaint with their corporate office but will be very surprised if I hear from them. I used to live in Michigan and had a Menards close by... never had a HD, and Lowe's moved out many years ago. So Menards is the only choice. I've always had good luck at the store. But now I live in Florida, and Menards is not in this state. So I went to their website and ordered a dozen Loctite epoxy tube sets for plastics. (I had used many tubes of it bought at their store.) Upon using the first one, the color mixed clear (I was expecting a cream color like the others). The consistency was runny instead of standing up in a gob. I applied it anyway and found it would not stick to plastic. (I was used to not being able to remove it except by hammer and chisel... even then it took a lot of chiseling to finally get it all off.) I just tapped it with a wrench and the whole thing popped right off. I tried a second and third tube set and found the same thing.

I called Loctite and they had me read a code on the tube which told them these tubes were over a year past their expiration date. They also told me Menards is notorious for distributing out-of-expiration-date products from them. And since I had used 3 tubes I decided it wasn't worth the bother of trying to get them replaced and ate the $60.

I used to shop at the East Side Madison store. I ordered 6 foot boards from the desk... go back in the yard... there are no 6 foot boards. The yard is empty of employees. I had to drive around... go back in the store to get someone to come out and help me. Then I had to help the guy pull out 12 foot boards, carry them to the saw, then help him cut them and load them in my car. After an hour, I was able to leave and no employee discount. I kept going in practically every night to get more boards (I was building a fence). They were constantly out of items, I could never find anyone to help me. When I did... they were like "Give me a moment and I will be there." I finally blew up at a fork lift driver where he drove away saying "I don't have to put up with you."

So I started to shop at the Monona store. The first night back in the yard 8 pm... no lights on. I cannot see any of the signs. I drive around trying to find help but there is nobody around. I had to go back into the store to finally get help. They turned the lights on but they were HPS so they took 10 minutes to brighten. I came back practically every night (building a patio). I would pay, go back in the yard... they would be out of the product so I would again drive around trying to find someone to get another pallet down. Then I had been getting separate yard forms for every load I could fit in my car. The guy convinced me to put it all on one form and the security guy in the yard can keep track of what I had picked up. I decided to try it so I would not have to go into the store when I am dirty from working (I am a girl by the way).

I got a big order (biggest pavers 72 lbs.). Tons of male workers back there pretending not to see a girl lifting 72 lb blocks. Fine. I don't need their help. After two trips I go for a third and the security guy is like "I can't give those to you. You have already picked them all up!" I looked at my form (I had been keeping track of what I had picked up) and what they had in their computer was totally wrong. Then he said I had to back up... I could NOT leave the yard and I had to go in and talk to customer service. I go inside and there is a huge line. I ask some kid if he can call for more help. He said no. He did not have the authority and walked away. What?!? I get to the front of the line and the woman has no idea what to do. So she calls another woman. That woman says I need to go back to the department so we walk all the way back to the special order desk.

That guy could not help us. She could not access what she needed on that computer. So now she walks me back to the front. By now I am HOT! I am ashamed to say I was swearing and **. We get to a manager and he stands there staring at the paper. I'm like "can we do something to get me out of here?" I tell him the story again and he stands there staring at the paper. So I start yelling. He has the AUDACITY to say I needed to stop abusing him or he was going to kick me out of the store and not let me have anything I bought. I stopped yelling and he continued to "man" lecture me about how he didn't need to take my abuse and I needed to behave and whatever. I stood quiet wondering. So you as a grown man being paid to be a manager in a store says you are being abused for being yelled at but making a customer this upset in your store is not considered abuse?

Anyway... long story short... they make it impossible to complain. You need to print off a form and mail it. Um... who prints stuff? Who mails stuff? The only reason they do that is because if they actually dealt with customer complaints they would need to hire all of Texas to take care of the call center! Pray Lowe's is coming soon!!! I wish I didn't even need to give them one star!!!

I am a wheelchair bound amputee. During the fall of 2016 I was in the 7701 Nicollet Ave, Richfield , MN 55423. They have flat belt escalators at that store. There are no signs posted that people in wheelchairs can not use their escalators. Some of the items I wanted to purchase was on the 2nd floor of Menards. Therefore, I used the up escalator to get my needed items from the 2nd floor. After retrieving my needed items from the 2nd floor, I used the down escalator. When I was almost to the bottom of the escalator, a store employee forcefully grabbed my shopping cart, which caused me to almost fall out of my wheelchair and also caused me to slam my body into the side rail. I yelled at the employee with the verbiage "What the hell are you doing! What is your problem!?"

The store employee yelled back at me telling me that handicapped people in wheelchairs are not allowed to use Menards escalators. In fact that is what their store elevators are for. I debated with him on that subject. I explained to him that Menards can not legally prevent me nor other handicapped people from using the escalators. I demanded his name and title. He gave me a fictitious name and title. I know that because once I received a reply from the A.D.A in Washington Dc, the person was unidentifiable according to Menards. That means no such employee existed at that store as the one I filed the complaint against according to Menards anyways. I did describe the man though to the A.D.A. Since that time, I have been in the store and yet to see the same employee. Maybe he was fired, maybe not.

Now that leads me to my next issue which is linked to my first issue. I was at the same Menards about 2 weeks ago. I rolled up to the customer service desk. Sat in my wheelchair while management along with 2 other store employees looked at me and ignored me. I waited there for about 10 minutes. No help. I rolled over to the returns desk and asked the store employee at the desk for the store manager. A couple minutes later, a manager came to my location. I explained my situation to him, being ignored by store employees. I left my name and number with him. A couple days later he left me a voicemail. I called him back.

A female employee answered and after I explained what happened to her, she became hostile about it. She started complaining to me about how one of the times I was in the store, she became offended that when she tried to help me by getting stuff off the shelves for me, without my consent, that she became offended that I refused her help. I told her both my arms work. When someone, without my consent starts trying to put stuff in my basket that offends me and I have the right to refuse their help.

Now the other day I was in the Menards. I was finished checking out. I was off to the side, out of the way, putting the item I bought into my wheelchair bag. One of the employees that ignored me from the previous time came up to me and asked if I needed help. I only had one container of spackle that I bought. I am a grown man with working arms and a bag that I put items in all the time. So rather than becoming upset, I ignored her. Then she said she could get my basket for me. I ignored her. I have been shopping at that store for over a year now. I have yet to see any employee offer to put customer items in their purses or vehicles or bags for the non-handicapped people without the people asking for help with such a task. I have yet to see any employee try to get a basket from a non-handicapped person.

My thoughts are: They target harassing handicapped people. They know I lodged complaints against them with the A.D.A. They are trying to get revenge on me for my complaints. What else could it be? I am minding my own business. They have seen me for over a year shopping at their store, seeing I am a fully capable person. Therefore, why in the world would they try to "help me?" If a store instills such "help" criteria in their employees, then why is it I am being the only one getting their "help?"

Terrible company and terrible customer service! I hate I had to give them even one star. I used one of their advertised floor installers to install $1,600 worth of carpeting that I purchased at Menards. Their carpet installer stole my shop vac and weed whacker on the last day of the job. Of course I wasn't sure he did it until I went to our local court website, looked the carpet installer up, and discovered he had a rap sheet a mile long to include petty theft from Menards!! Carpet thief is currently doing six months in jail for his other crimes to include robbing another person by stealing her snow plow out of her garage and being pulled over with drugs. Yes, this is who Menards allows to use in their stores!

Not only did he rob me, but it took him six days to install carpet in a basement, he was coming over two to three hours late each time and staying until almost midnight on several occasions. The whole experience was a nightmare. Since this carpet installer demanded $200 when he began the job I was basically stuck with him and the nightmare of his unprofessionalism. Oh and did I mention that turns out he is a heroin addict?

Menards took no responsibility, treated me like crap, and I was hung up on by Corporate when I contacted them about this. You would think a store that size and with all their profits would of at least offered me a discount on the items their carpet thief stole, but instead I was treated like the bad guy. I was told that I should have done my research on the carpet installer before using him. Well... Shouldn't they have done some research themselves? That they would allow someone who is a criminal to come to their store, post flyers, and go to their customers' homes to rob them is unbelievable. I sued them in small claims court but lost because their thug attorney lied and presented pictures of a supposed set up where they have warning signs along with their advertised installers. His picture included seven installers flyers and the warning sign. That is not what I saw. I only had three installers to choose from.

It's amazing how you can go to court and get away with this **. When I contacted Lowe's about this and the poor treatment I received, it was Lowe's who actually apologized for what I went through and said things would have been much different if this had happened at their store. Menards never took responsibility, no apologies, and don't even try contacting corporate. They will hang up on you like the cowards they are. Disgraceful company who does not care at all about their customers. I am happy to say that they will never get my business again and many people I have talked to will never go to their store again either.

Consumers have to do all the legwork in order to use Menards rebates, and Menards loses nothing. Consumer has to supply envelope, stamp, and gas to mail rebate, then the wait game of 4 to 6 weeks to get rebate in the mail. That has to be used in Menards. Move in 20th century, so rebates can be entered from home computer. Other stores are using this method.

Went to store today to use a $3.82 rebate, system not working in store. So could not redeem my rebate. They were happy to take more money, but I still will spend more time and gas to redeem at another time. They give Instant rebates when they have 15% off bag sale, but it is on me to get a 11% rebate. There needs to be a plan "B" for consumers, when their systems do not work. Simple math still works? There is no effort to satisfy consumers, so we can have a good experience shopping in Menards. My sister returned an item for her husband & even with receipt had to accept store credit since she only had her bank card and not his for the same account. She couldn't find anything to buy. I had several items and so purchased her credit from her. I purchased way more than the credit I had. Later that day I had to return one of the larger ticket items and they insisted on giving me back the credit because "that is the way our registers work". As far as I am concerned, this is holding my money hostage and at the very least stealing on their part. I am left with a store credit when I have nothing to purchase. Even after my return, I spent way more than the store credit they made me take back. They are forcing me to use it twice with it being their gain. I should have returned everything, got my credit back and the amount charged to my credit card, and then repurchased the items I purchased in the first place (with exception of return).

This is deliberate on their part and forces you to forfeit your money or buy something you don't want. Either way, they win. Their customer service was beyond rude with the shift manager telling me they didn't have enough help (20 minutes wait in return line and I was 2nd in a line of 12) because "not enough people were buying" and "more people were returning items than purchasing them". Huh? I was also told by the associate processing my purchase my voice was "too loud" and "why didn't I treat people like I wanted to be treated". My husband about came unglued when the shift manager said something to the effect of "Hey Lady, that's the way it is", shrugged her shoulders and left. Meanwhile no problem with the guy ahead of me without a receipt returning filthy plumbing parts without a receipt.

First time I have left a store in tears because I supposedly responded "inappropriately" to their belittling comments and dismissive attitude. I just ended up wanting some good to come of the situation so donated the credit to the Salvation Army. I will never go to any Menards again. I should never have had to use my store credit twice. Panels are cheaply made and crack. They used small nails that pop out making panels fall off. I spent an hour hand staining each panel by hand, and weeks upon weeks installing this fence and it looks like complete junk. I do not know where Menards gets their products but do not buy them as they are complete junk. I have wrote Better Business many times about these issues and Menards refuses to do anything about either one. I do have receipts, photos and witnesses.

11/26/16 went to Menards in Bridgeview, IL to purchase an LG Refrigerator. Delivery was set up for next day Saturday. When the delivery guys came they automatically came in with a measuring tape to measure. They realize the refrigerator will not fit through the door without removing the panel door jam. They wanted me to remove the doors from the refrigerator. They also wanted to leave the refrigerator in my living room. And then I can remove the doors and push it to the kitchen myself. After I did not agree to that my husband went ahead and took the Molding threshold down. At this point the delivery guys had left the house. I called the store back and asked if they would return and delivered since now we have the space for the fridge to come through the doorway. I was told the drivers had left the area and will not be coming back.

The next day I went to get my refund and I was told by Brittany the store manager that I would not be receiving my delivery charges back since they did come back and try to bring the refrigerator in. That was not the case. They did not come back. They wanted me to remove the doors. They were very very rude and lied about returning back. I was charged $49 for delivery when the item never left the truck. Never have I ever order anything without the driver of the delivery accommodating to make the item fit. Normally they would remove the legs take the doors off themselves whatever it takes to get the item to fit. This was a big inconvenience to me and I had to go the same day to purchase a refrigerator from Best Buy who offered to remove doors remove door hinges from the doorway whatever it takes to get the refrigerator in my home. I would never ever shop again at Menards.

Menards can get you the door at a great price. I read several negative comments on this site and I can find flaws with all their complaints. The stores are filled with helpful knowledgeable people.

I had two skids 100 40lb bags of wood pellets delivered to my residence and the delivery driver failed to place the two skids of pellets per my wishes. When I placed the order at the customer service counter the individual inputting my order did not listen to where the placement was to be. I was specific as to where I wanted the pellets delivered. The order was written up and I was asked to sign the document which I did. And as with most people you just sign your name with the understanding that your delivery will be placed where you want it to be placed and fail to read the agreement.

It all started with the initial order at the service counter, read and fully understand what you are signing for and especially read it very carefully. After several calls to the delivery driver's supervisor and no solution to this I was put in contact with the GM of the store. The GM was not willing to make the problem go away and only referred to the delivery contract and would not budge to ensure I as a customer was satisfied. WHAT ever happened to customer service? When I have to PAY to have materials delivered I would hope the delivery driver would be courteous enough and not in a hurry to place the items per the customer's desires. When I asked the driver to place the skids he repeatedly refused. Yes, it was a cold blustery day in Ohio, however, that should not have been a concern.

There was another individual with the driver that stood by the truck and smoked and the GM was not even aware there was a second individual supposed to be in the truck. It would probably have helped to solve my problem if the GM and the driver hadn't been such close friends either as the GM informed me. I WILL NOT SHOP AT MENARDS AGAIN. I WILL TELL ALL THAT I CAN ABOUT THE SO CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IS NOT PROVIDED BY MENARDS. I have spent many thousands of dollars at this store in Tipp City, Ohio and WILL not give them any more of my hard earned dollars. It makes me wonder if all of Menards GM's are like this??? When a GM gets mad at a customer (as this one did me) and would rather cover his buddies behind than ensure the customer is satisfied it is definitely time to start shopping at another store.

I was never keen on all of Menards rebates and how they worked where they provided you only an "in-store credit card" either. One of the first things that pissed me off about Menards is that they DO NOT provide a discount to military individuals with me being a retired United States Air Force member and Vietnam era veteran. I spoke with a GM about not having a discount for military several years ago and was informed that Menards' prices were discounted enough and they could not provide a discount. So, after all is said and done you can be ensured I will tell everyone I can about this experience and how the GM at the Tipp City, Ohio store is more concerned about his "buddies" than the customer and I really do believe that he DOES NOT believe in customer service.

One star is far too good of a review for this company, if I could give a negative rating I would. I purchased a GE washing machine from my local store as well as the extended five year warranty plan. After two years my washer quit working and after contacting the company to schedule a repair I was told they would not be able to service my machine for three weeks. I don't consider that an appropriate wait time and after stating as much was told that my other option was to go through a local repairman and be reimbursed for my payment for his services. I was assured I would be reimbursed NO MATTER WHAT, so I proceeded. The washer was deemed to not be fixable by the warranty company and I was told I'd be paid cash out for the price of the washer. I followed all necessary protocol to receive my cash out and reimbursement check.

After three weeks went by I called to check on the status of my claim and was told it would take thirty days to process. I waited another month before I called back and after much runaround it was concluded the price of the washer would be sent to me but they still had another three days before they were required to process the reimbursement. All said and done I called the company several times and was always given an excuse as to why I hadn't received my reimbursement. I called again today - 3 MONTHS LATER!! I talked to one guy that had no clue and instantly transferred me.

The second guy was the rudest "customer service" rep I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. He repeatedly interrupted me, told me I should never have paid the repairman (I didn't know they worked pro-bono!) and therefore would not be reimbursed. Every time I asked him to let me explain what had taken place so far he said, "Oh if there is going to be a story I'm all ears!" I asked to speak to his supervisor (he huffed and puffed) and eventually I told him we clearly could not communicate about this to which he agreed and transferred me. The third guy that I talked to today was actually helpful and hopefully I will be receiving a check in the mail - though VERY DELINQUENTLY.

I made one more phone call to this company today. I called to complain about the rude customer service and was told they were sorry on his behalf. A written apology would seem to be in order. The corporate office would do well to spend some time and money to train their employees to be useful and courteous. This company does a poor job of customer service and standing behind their promises. And after reading the other reviews, I can't help but wonder if this company even cares about their consumer satisfaction! Whatever happened to integrity in business? RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

All I can say is I am so glad that I live in an area that has many other options besides Menards. June 2016 I purchased an MTD Weed Eater from Menards. The weed eater had a design flaw with the head where the string comes out. There was not a cover to that portion of the shaft so when you cut longer weeds they would wind around the shaft and stop the head, you would then spend 10 minutes cleaning it so it would work again. I used the weed eater for a total of 15 minutes and then put it back in the box to take it back.

When I took it back the desk lady said they could not take it because it had gas in it and that I would have to take it to a service center, wherever that is. I tried to explain to the lady that it had a design flaw not a mechanical flaw and she did not care. I asked to speak with a manager and when he came to talk to me he was very angry like I interrupted his day. As I was trying to explain the situation he continued interrupting me telling me that I have to take it to a service center. After about the 5th interruption I stopped him and asked why he was being so rude and so mad. After about 2 more minutes of arguing with him I simply said I will not shop at their store again, so a $100 weed eater cost them a family of customers. If they sell gas operated products they should have an employee that can diagnose problems so the burden is not put onto the customer to run it to another store.

Great, except that I don't get a check. Instead they send me a "Merchandise Credit Check", good for $50 on my next purchase at Menard's. Huh? What kind of BS is this? Since Menards sells many items that they don't keep in stock, one is compelled to special order them. This alone is absurd when you consider that they keep in stock 4 cans of floor finish for Western South Dakota. ONE PERSON putting the recommended 5 cans of finish on an average kitchen would need more than that. I've special ordered items from the Gillette, WY and Rapid City, SD Menards on five occasions. Each time, my order was not delivered to me in a timely manner despite my having received emails indicating that the item was in stock.

Order one I go to the store to pick up my 20 cans of varnish. They can't find them all. Some must have been put 'on the floor' and sold, I am told. So I pick up my partial order and come back in three weeks for the rest. Order two. I placed an order on Menards Rapid City website, paid with a Rapid City debit card and gave them my Rapid City address. For some reason, they ship it to Gillette, Wyoming. I email (which is all they offer - no phone calls or phone number to call) requesting that they change the delivery address to reflect what is stated on my order. The Technician says she will try to cancel the order, but no guarantees. Then I will have to re-order the items. I don't want to re-order. I need this item NOW.

The other three are similar situations. I enjoy shopping in Menards. Special orders: You might as well forget it because you'll probably be waiting 45 minutes for them to locate the items and bring them out to you for loading. If you order 20 cans of anything, you haven't a chance of getting them all when you get to the store to pick them up.

We ask for 60 sq ft of carpet pad, we end up with 87 because "He's been there since 5 am, is tired and "couldn't" get us that amount". (Then the cashier said he could have got the right amount.) The department manager tells us "oh I don't think your hardware is included with the countertop, you should just grab it while you're here." (Get home, there's the main pack plus an extra, plus now the one we bought.) They just don't care.

Their employees are not trained properly at all and are not friendly. Both Menards are about an hour away from us, so when they tell us we can "just come back" they don't realize the gas money we spend. They don't have any good sales anymore, just the 11 rebate. I will say the guys in the IA City lumberyard were very friendly and helpful. They need raises because they were the only positive out of our 15-20 trips to Menards for our house. Home Depot even has an 800 number: just type "Home Depot 800 number" into a search - there it is. Simple. Why can't Menards do that? Also, but unrelated Menards' "sales rebates" where you get a rebate for buying an item... what a joke. It's a store credit. I would rather have it be on sale for less money, or send me REAL MONEY (not a store credit to buy more items that will be sent wrong and need to be returned again). Get with it Menards. Home Depot is my place.

On 2/25/2015, I purchased an electric Black & Decker lawn mower, Model CM1640 (Walk behind 40V 16" LI-ION Mower) and a replacement plan, #**, which covers SKU 2701256 through 2/25/18. Last summer, 2015, the handle broke on the mower. I took the mower to the Menards Service Center (Small Engine Specialty) 2373 Washington Rd., Sunnyland, IL 61571-1900, telephone number 309-754-5421. Black & Decker refused to honor my warranty. Without thinking, I paid the $45 charge. In June 2016, the handle on the mower broke again. I took the mower back into the Menards Service Center on 6/6/2016. After 6 weeks, both Black & Decker and Menards refused to honor my warranty. It was determined that I had a replacement warranty and I was instructed to take the mower into Menards with the understanding that they would replace the mower. However, Menard's no longer carries this model mower.

I was informed that the only option I had was to pay an additional $50 and Menards would replace the mower with an electric mower by a different manufacturer. The store manager was not in. Assistant manager, Adam, informed me that was all they would do. If I did not pay the additional money, they could not help me. I left with the broken mower. I feel this is unjust as Menards is not honoring the warranty contract I purchased with the mower. I feel that they should either repair or replace the mower.

I am on the east coast, no Menards stores are within 900 miles of me. You cannot get a hold of these people, there is no customer service number. Th only forms of communication are via email or in written form.

After going back and forth for the past 2 weeks with their email correspondence I went to their website to file a complaint. This must be done in written form. Are you kidding? 2016 and you have no customer service number, no access to customer satisfaction via your website. Mail in a complaint? Mail it in??? Obviously you guys are hiding something. I had a large order delivery from Menards Pekin, Illinois. The driver refused to lift off stacked material and placed the order in the middle of my driveway. The driver backed over the sidewalk and caved it in, it is still just as it was when he broke it. The driver was in a hurry and just drove off. He had his girlfriend in the truck with him, and I think that was his hurry. I called Menards Pekin and spoke to the Manager in materials. I explained what had happened and that the truck just drove off. Later that day, the truck returned and his boss was with him. The driver's boss wanted me to sign off on the order before he would unstack the material and move it. I told him when the job was finished I would. The boss told me they wouldn't move it unless I did. So I wrote under protest and signed it. The boss got mad and belligerent and wanted to know why I signed it that way. I told him I was being forced to sign a legal document.

The boss then pulled out a copy and showed it to me that I was supposed to have signed earlier, but I hadn't signed anything. The driver left without getting my signature and had signed my name to it. I told the boss this, and said they weren't moving the material. I then pointed out the sidewalk that was broke, and the boss said they weren't paying for that either. They left without doing anything. Menards Pekin paid them 118 dollars to come back to do that job but still didn't do it. I called Menards Pekin again, spoke to the same manager again and told him what had happened. This time he got belligerent and told me I was out of line for signing under protest and told me he washed his hands of it. After paying for the job to get done, and then accusing me of wrong doing, do you think I should ever shop at Menards again?

    Menards

I am writing to file a formal complaint against the General Manager (name unknown) and Department Manager Spencer Drake, at the store located in Scottsbluff NE.

On July 3, 2016, between 12:15-12:45 pm mountain time, my daughter, her friend, and myself were in the store to purchase products. We were looking at the Clearance lumber. We asked a store representative about the pricing. His name was Andrew. He told us that all the boards in the specific rack were $6.99. He also stated, that at the checkout if they had any questions to have them call him. A cashier then, contacted the Building Materials Dept to ask about pricing. At that time, Spencer Drake stated that the board was $19.99. I said, no we were told $6.99. Spencer then advised me to return to the Clearance location. At this time my daughter and I walked back there. Spencer was very rude and sarcastic when, I told him that Andrew stated, the wood was $6.99 and that was also the price listed on the tag above the items. Spencer got all mouthy and said, I am not giving you that wood for $6.99. I said, that is the price that both Andrew and the sign state. He said, I dont care. It was put in the wrong Clearance place. I stated that was not my problem. I then said, I will take a pic of the price marker and dispute with management.

At this time, Spencer began trying to block me from taking a picture of the price marker, by jumping up and down and waving his arm around. He also began swatting at me in attempt to take or knock my cell phone from my hand. I said, who are you. He gave me his card and walked off. He threatened to have me escorted out of the store and I told him if he laid one hand on me I would call the police. He said, do whatever you want, as I am the manager. He stated that there was some sign in the front of the store that state no pictures. I said, I have never seen any such sign. He was yelling at me and threatening me.

Let me be clear, I have taken pictures of items in the store before to send to friends and family of products I wanted their opinion on and no time was I ever told not to.

At no such time, does any Menards employee of any status level have any such power, authority or any legal binding jurisdiction to attempt to damage, destroy or confiscate a cell phone from a customer. That is in direct violation of my Constitutional Rights. In fact, the United States Supreme Court, has ruled that not even Law Enforcement of any Jurisdiction can damage,

destroy or confiscate a cell phone from an individual taking pictures or videos anywhere at anytime. Therefore, Menards is not above the Law.

It is grossly embarrassing and in direct violation of my rights, that Menards would employ individuals who feel the need to act out or possess aggressive, disrespectful and belligerent manners and behaviors.

Your General Manager did not have the common courtesy to introduce himself or offer any resolution. In fact, he made it known that he could careless and that he felt it was beneath him to have to even come talk to us. Maybe he does not feel that customer service is part of his job description. He stated that the wood was $19.99 and he was not letting us purchase it for $6.99. I asked him if he had video footage so that he could review the incident that took place with Spencer. He shrugged his shoulders. He did nothing but try to cover up for Spencer.

Any public store that bans cameras or video's to be taken, would only have one motive. To attempt to hide some of the employee behaviors, that I just experienced. Only those who wish to deceive, by means of illegal practices, or scams would attempt to deter the truth.

We declined to make any purchases at this store and left the contents at the register.

I do not know who hired these two individuals or found them suitable for the positions in which they hold, but they both should be terminated immediately.

Went to the Menards store in North Toledo Ohio to look into buying a product called Novabrik. The price for a pallet is 598.00. We needed three pallets. As we are talking more about the product we were told there was a pallet that someone had returned. "It is the bargain discount area out back, go take a look." So we did. Exactly the color and style we wanted. Only problem was they were asking 590.00 for a returned pallet, when they had a sale going on for 500.00 for a new pallet.

So haggled about the price, got them down to what I considered a fair price, and we ordered the other two pallets. What a shock when all three pallets were delivered two weeks later. The returned "pallet" from the yard was clearly not a full pallet, even though it was sold as one. We called the store and the dept. manager told us "too bad". Asked to talk to the store manager and he told us "too bad". Sent an email off to corporate, they are ignoring our concern. So the Menards in North Toledo Ohio ripped us for 240.00 and refuse to do anything about it.

What a joke. Came to the store at 6:45 pm and told that there was no delivery available, even though there is a huge sign in a store claiming delivery next day guaranteed. Asked for other option and was told to rent a truck from Menards. After spending 1 1/2 searching for lumber and loading the material on 5 carts, was told at the register that they do not rent the trucks after 8 pm. After speaking to a store manager offered a delivery for the next day in the afternoon. Left the store with a delivery confirmation.

Received a phone call from a store with a vm that they will to delivered since I have not paid for the purchase. Called and gave my account info. After asking if I could get a delivery charge waived for loading the entire purchase myself and spending 2 hours at the store... guy was laughing at me... seriously... that's a customer service. Btw he mentioned that I should drive back tomorrow after the delivery to the store to receive 11% rebate. Seriously. I'm not planning to walk into that store ever again. Best regards.

I bought a Weed eater grass trimmer a month ago from Menards and when I put gas in it the thing would not start. I took it back and they said it was not their policy to allow returns once gas was in the equipment. How do you know it won't work until you put fuel in it??? Anyway, they told me I could take it and have it fixed or if it was not repairable I should get a letter from the repair center and bring it to them and they would contact Weedeater. I've spent over $200,000 in the last 20 years with them and built 2 houses from their store. I was offended and appalled.

I left it with them and disputed the credit card charge under Federal Law. Menards told me their store policy takes precedence over my dispute (as if they are higher than the Federal government). I contacted my credit card issuer and they disputed the charge on the basis that I tried a good faith effort with Menards and they refused to make good on defective merchandise. I highly recommend any shoppers use a credit card when dealing with Menards, they stand high and mighty on their store policy which isn't even posted in the area they sell the power equipment.

We recently purchased two windows by special order from Menards Rochester North in MN. Those two windows costed us $1442.62. When we picked up the windows, we immediately noticed one window's front screen was damaged. We went to the store and asked them to reorder a screen for us. When our contractor took the plastic wrap off the other window, he found the other window's screen was also damaged at the same spot. The contractor also found one side of the window wood frame was seriously damaged. We went to talk to a manager and asked him to order the parts and send a technician to fix the window frame for us. The manager told us that Menards could not fix the damage for us but order the parts for us only. That is, we spent $1442.62 for two damaged windows, plus the cost to hire a contractor to fix the window and several trips from home to the store and back.

It is clearly that Menards sells damaged products to its customers and made its customers (us) the victims to pay for the costs. Thus, please DO NOT purchase any fragile products such as windows from Menards, because you have to pay full price for damaged products. Though they order the parts, but they will not pay for the cost to fix it.

I've been shopping at Menards in the Saint Louis area since the first store opened. I've also changed my buying habits to only Menards (rarely Home Depot or Lowe's anymore) as the stores are clean, have wide/deep lines of products, and always found the floor associates and checkouts helpful. On this particular day I had made purchases and special orders of almost $1K. In the past month I'd purchased close to another $1K. Have plans to purchase another $2K.

I recently had an issue with a project and was given NO consideration of compensation for lost three hours; due to a damaged product. I do not own a truck or SUV and was well satisfied with the truck rental option at Menards. One (of many) item I purchased was a Keter LARGE outdoor storage box. When I opened the box the corner of the project was damaged. I recognized that the box barely covered the product and there was NO PACKING MATERIAL. I had noticed the corner of the box was slightly crimped when the associate pulled the box off the upper shelf. In my experience a slight crimp is expected in shipping. The problem is that there was no packing material to protect the product.

All said and done, I lost three hours when a product was damaged. I feel the receiving department should have known about the lack of packing material from this vendor and confirmed NONE of the products were damaged as they were placed on customer shelving. When I asked for ANYTHING as compensation for my lost time due to their product I received NOTHING... other than the rental truck for the second trip. I asked for the first rental truck fee to be reimbursed. Big fat NO. I asked for any type of discount on my next purchase. Big fat NO.

While this was a very bad shopping experience for this purchase, I still like Menards for the above reasons of staff and products. HOWEVER, anything I buy that is boxed or unseen WILL BE OPENED by an associate to confirm no damage. This will include every box of tile I purchase; they will open and confirm every time is intact and will re-package and shrink wrap each box separately. If Menards can't guarantee product condition when they receive products, they WILL guarantee the condition of everything I buy now.

Opened the first package and could see that they were very sub-standard. Contacted customer service about sending them back, citing quality as the problem, and was told I'd have to pay a 25% restocking fee and send them back FedEx. Rather than take an unfair beating on the return, I'm donating them to Habitat for Humanity. They'll be okay for somebody, they're just not on a par with anything I've seen installed anywhere or even close to what I expected. Very few stores I use charge a re-stock fee. Paying return shipping is just one of the hassles of internet shopping... but why FedEx? I've bought many products off the internet over the years and this is the first time I've had a beef.

I then set it up all over again and filled it again. The next morning I went out and the water was pouring out again. It lost 6" overnight. I called the store again, this time expecting more than just a replacement. They offered me 50 dollars back and will give me the same pool again. I wanted an upgrade to a different brand that cost 50 dollars more and they said NO. Why would anyone want to put up a pool again that has known problems. The store price is now 50 cheaper because they know it has a problem.

Suffice it to say that customer service at the Menards in Springfield, IL (CHUCKWAGON Dr. Store) is non-existent. Combine that with a corporate office that REFUSES to take any telephone calls from customers. This includes the CEO and the COO. She said "Oh well that tile is in the wrong sleeve." This sleeve had the same title on it. She decided to argue with me. I went and got an assistant manager. We went back over and the price was changed. The assistant manager told me that I could have it at that price and then we went to the computer to place the order and went ahead and purchased the other things that were needed to place the tiles in place. The manager then went to place the order and was unable to and told me he would talk to the general manager. The next day I showed him the pictures of the pricing and also the sleeve that the tile was in the general manager then told me he would work with me on price and reduced it very minimal amount. He was rude.

He said "Well I will sell you that tile for that price.” I was purchasing 21 tiles – a difference on his negotiated price $150. I find that getting through to Menards when there is a problem is near to impossible. I own properties in Kansas and have purchased a lot at Menards and after being insulted with the comment about one tile and treated like I am some stupid female I give Menards a negative review and encourage all women to stay out of there. I was lied to by the assistant manager, was given no support and now I have 40 some dollars worth of glue or adhesive in my car to take back. No doubt I will probably have a hard time with that return.

I personally feel that the general manager Scott has made a poor decision over $150 considering what our business has spent already this year. I think he's the dumb one. I took pictures of the sleeve the time I was in with the price when I told the general manager then he said "Well people switched." There was no other tag. There are no other way for me to get one so I felt as if I had been called a liar. The girl and the manager walked up there with me.

The workers they hire there are the lowest of the low, and are only there to pick up a paycheck. When you ask a worker a question about a product, they always need to call another person to ask, and even the person they call does not know the answer.

In addition, they are constantly screw up orders, either not the right product, or not the right quantities. It is ** that such a simple task of looking at a picking list, and putting that product on the truck for delivery cannot be handled by someone with a high school diploma. And, to sell me the more expensive product, but delivery me the cheaper one is a criminal offense and should be investigated by the Attorney General's Office. I suppose the only answer is to use an actual lumber company. I may pay a little more, but then don't have to deal with the stress and headaches that follow.

I called and placed the order on 4-29-16, talked to customer service and the first problem (after spending almost $5000) the person that took the order said that the appliances were NOT in stock and we would have to wait 2 weeks. However we finally received them on 5-19-16.

I ordered a dishwasher that did not have the buttons on the top - the buttons were on the front but they didn't have the one with the buttons on the front in stock so I paid an extra $150 for the dishwasher with the buttons on the top. Then Menards wanted to charge us 3 delivery fees for all three appliances to be delivered. We had to have someone go down and pick up the dishwasher and install the dishwasher which we paid the contractor $150 for installation and delivery.

Then after waiting almost 3 week for the other two appliances we get the oven and refrigerator delivered by a third party and the people that delivered the other appliances and they came, set them up. The delivery people could not have been nicer and more accommodating but we had to pay additional for them to remove the refrigerator. But after the appliances were installed I checked to make sure magnets would not stick to the front of a stainless steel refrigerator and what do you know, the magnets stick to the front of the refrigerator.

I called the store manager and he stated that there is a metal liner under the stainless steel. However stainless steel is stainless steel and the magnets SHOULD NOT stick to the front if this is actually stainless steel metal liner or no metal liner. We also brought in a 10% off coupon from Lowes and the delivery coordinator stated that they were going to put the $500 back to our card so I talked to the store manager and apparently they meant you can only spend $500 to get the 10% off. The store manager is full of crap and I have NEVER been so poorly treated after spending that much money. From the store manager, customer service and the warehouse people, we have had rude and unacceptable behavior since day one and I will NEVER purchase ANYTHING from Menards. I contacted Menards and spoke with a Pablo ** in the construction material department to see about either having the material delivered or I could pick these up before starting the roof job. Pablo said there was no problem getting the material to the working site by the time my roofer needed it. So I paid and trusted it was handled. Two hours later the roofer calls to let me know the material had not arrived and that there was rain forecasted for the next day. I called Menards and explained the situation. Pablo said he was unaware what had happened with the load, that he had walked the ticket to the loading area two hours ago. He gave a time of another 40 minutes for the materials to be onsite. At noon I called the roofer and to my surprise the material was still not there. I called Menards and explained the problem.

Now after speaking with a general manager, he says that the delivery guy was driving in from a neighboring town and it would be another 40 minutes before he arrived. I stressed my frustration with the store since I gave Pablo the option for me to pick up the material in the morning and he was sure it would be no problem and it would be there by the time the roofer needed it. After speaking with the manager, he said that it was not standard practice for them to make same day deliveries and that it was also not common for them to give a delivery time, and that he knew his employee would not have promised that.

I was so upset because of the store's lack of ownership for fixing a personnel problem. I was told the materials would be there that morning and I did not ask or beg or want my products delivered it was offered to me, even after I offered to go pick these up because it was forecasted it would rain the following day. The store employee said these would be there by 11:00, which was the time the roofer gave him as a starting time for putting up the new shingles. No one was willing to take ownership of the situation for what seemed in my opinion an employee out of line. Even after speaking with the general manager, he was unwilling to recognize that his employee had screwed up by telling me he could deliver and giving me a time. I was never mentioned once that same day deliveries are not allowed and that delivery times are not allowed to be mentioned.

I went to Menards in Plover Wis today to look for a part for my saw. Ended up buying an X-Acto knife. Went to the cashier and paid for it with a ten dollar bill, my change should have been $5.78, instead all I get is $.78 back. When I tell the cashier lady that I paid with a ten and where's my $5, she says you paid with a $5 bill. Funny, I didn't have any $5 bills in my wallet. She called over a supervisor who took her till and counted it out, supervisor says "till is right on." So I pretty much got scammed by this cashier that pocketed my five dollars. I went to a few other businesses after that and all I hear from the hardware store guys and the guy at Fleet Farm is "yeah, we've heard that happening there before."

Menards' Guest Complaint dept. took three weeks to acknowledge receipt of my complaint and now, after six weeks, they have failed to re-contact me with any resolution. They have no phone number to call and assign no tracking number. The dimensions for the microwave were very wrong on the website which caused us to completely redesign that end of the kitchenette. We processed the return right away, but unfortunately I could not find my original debit card. Chris at customer service had told me that all he could do was a store credit unless and until I could find the original debit card. Therefore, I have avoided cancelling my debit card because that would void the original debit card and be replaced by a new one. So, for months I have been inconvenienced, and writing checks, holding out for the debit card to turn up. I actually was sent a new debit card because the original is somewhere in my house expired! Was so glad to get it.

NOW I can finally get MY MONEY back. NOOO, they won't do that because it is past 90 days. Yes it's on the sign, but I went by what a real person told me at the service desk. Tried to call corporate, but you cannot get a PERSON, only a recording. The recording says "Customer satisfaction is our # 1 goal." Well, I don't think so. This customer is not satisfied. I have plenty of things to buy, possibly at Menards. But I would rather make my choices based on the product, not that I am forced to shop at Menards. After that purchase on December 16, 2016 after I paid for it at the register I was instructed to go to the back to pick it up, after a half hour of looking for it they concluded they don't have it now, it's out of stock, I should check back later they said. I've checked back six different times since then yesterday being the sixth attempt at picking it up. The manager said that it is closed that their inventory shows them missing one and therefore in their opinion I must've already picked it up.

Essentially they are refusing to provide it and refused to refund my money because their inventory is messed up. I did not receive the item and never did receive the item and I'm not responsible for their mixed up Inventory. Their customer service will not provide a phone number to call. The cost for a light weight item to be sent to me, as they never transfer to one store to the other, would cost around $20.

This system is so not helpful, so I went online to see if any of the others stores have the item I needed and not even the store that had the item would indicate they had any. Their system is so user unfriendly. Spent a lot of time, so they force you to call and wait online as I did. This same Menards store had had items without lids available for their customers, so I had to wait for them to get the item off the shelf, giving me the wrong number but since another was cracked, I just did not buy it. We then went to the area to arrange for delivery. The vanity tops came to approx. $1900.00 and we were told it was $59.00 for delivery and we would be charged an extra $20.00 to take the vanity tops upstairs. At that point I almost cancelled the order because I thought it was ridiculous that we were spending so much money and they were charging us so much to deliver them. But since we had spent so much time there ordering them I let it slide. We paid for everything and were told that the order was being sent to Minnesota or Michigan and would be shipped from there.

On Tuesday we found out that the person who was going to install the vanity tops could not do it. We went back to Menards to cancel the order. The order had not been processed yet or shipped out but we were charged $450.00 restocking fee. I knew this was our fault and expected to be charged something but not $450.00 especially since the vanity tops had not even shipped yet. Needless to say I do all my shopping at Lowe's and Home Depot now. I have since spent several thousand dollars at the other stores. The worst of all is the "click" strips literally fall off the plank which makes the plank useless and any cutting work done to make a board fit all wasted time. On Saturday, 9-19-15, assembled product, attempted to use, pressure washer does not work. Motor started fine, but when trigger pulled, pressurized water comes out for 1-2 seconds, then nothing. If you shut it down and start again, same results. Returned to store for exchange on Saturday, 9-19-15, was told that once you put gas in it, you have to take it to a repair facility to see if repair is covered by warranty.

Item is brand new, out-the-box, never used item. Why would I purchase a brand new, never used, out-the-box item that I have to take and be repaired before I can use it? I WOULDN'T. I don't want, nor did I purchase a brand new REPAIRED power washer. I don't want to exchange now, I want to return item to store and be fully refunded. Menards refused, stating their stupid policy of once you put gas in it, you have to take to be repaired. It's a SCAM to make you purchase their defective items. No way to operate any motorized tool without gas.

Contacted Generac about issue, was told that issue has to be handled with Menards. Filed complaint with BBB, went thru process, to no avail. Can't seem to make Menards understand that I don't want a brand new REPAIRED pressure washer. They keep saying to take it to repair facility to see if it's covered under warranty and can be fixed. Of course it can be fixed, anything can be fixed, but if I take it to the repair facility and they fix it, Menards will now say "ok, now you have a working unit." Couple of things wrong with that logic. 1. Why should I have to take a item that I purchased new to be repaired before I can use it . 2. I don't want, nor did I purchase a repaired item.

I used to like Menards. Over the last 9 years, I've remodeled my entire home, one room at a time. Every item came from Menards, because the fact-of-the-matter is Menards is a little cheaper than Home Depot and Lowe's, but from now on I'll pay the extra money because I'll never spend another penny at Menards. Will continue to pursue this issue thru the court system. Will file small claim because I just don't believe in America, a company can force you to purchase a defective item. If you need a couple 2x4s it is no problem but Menards shoots itself in the foot by not making the purchases easy for those of us buying truckloads at a time. And it looked like they had unloaded a truck of lumber and plywood and it walled off the access to what I needed as there was only a 2ft walkway to get it out. I paid a bit more at a lumber yard but I didn't have to handle it so many times carting it out the door with a store packed with Black Friday shoppers. He walked in to the Avon Menards the day before yesterday to purchase building materials needed for a garage project. He spent over $6000 and the building material guys were amazing. He signed up for their card and they gave him some magazines and hats as gifts. He also had to purchase some other items like anti-freeze so he took all of the gifts and the items he was going to purchase to the checkout and he placed the gifts in a sack as the cashier check him out. He went out to the parking lot and began to unload things in the van and three front end managers approached him. The main one demanded to see the receipt for his items.

He asked "Why? What is the problem". She refused to explain. Just demanded the receipt. He felt very threatened like they were going to call the police. Which is scary because when you're a minority even if you're cooperative the police can be very threatening and abusive. It's just reality. Anyway, he showed the receipt for the $15 worth of products he bought. She searched around the bag and everything in the bag was on the receipt. Then she spotted time gloves in the van and rudely asked where the receipt was for the gloves? "Well ma'am, these gloves are my work gloves and were not purchased today." All of this was with a threatening and hateful attitude. She finally said that a customer saw my husband steal something near the checkout and they had to check it out. He then explained that if they had said that from the beginning he would have showed them the bag full of gifts from the building materials section.

She basically said "I'm just doing my job." And walked away. No apology or anything. I was fuming when he told me the story. I called in and asked for a manager. Turns out I got the manager who harassed my husband and again she got very defensive and said she was just doing her job. Well yes, but your job doesn't require you to be threatening and hateful even after you realize you are harassing a person that just spent $6000 in your store. I called the general manager and he apologized. I said jokingly that I would never allow my Mexican husband to go back into that store without his American wife for protection from the racists. He just laughed. Not very professional and no remedy was offered. I at least expected them to say something like, the next time you need to make an order please contact me and I'll take care of you personally. But nothing. We will not be returning here.

My daughter in-law was shopping at one of your stores with her baby in a car seat. She spent 150.00 and one 10.00 item fell under the car seat. You charged her 200.00 dollars not to call the cops. I feel this is pure and simple extortion. If you are going to call the cops do so. If not then do not extort money out of something innocent. I will agree she should have checked the cart, but do not extort money out of people for your employee's person pockets. I am seeking an attorney on this matter. It is not the first time you have accused people I know of stealing! You detained my friend's father of stealing. He never had the item. He had put it back. Yet you detained him for 5 hours without an apology. Maybe you should get your act together. This is why I do not come to your stores. I will spread the word. There is always Home Depot and Lowe's around with better quality items.

Mastercraft AR-104 Aurora Prehung Exterior Door - I ordered a prehung exterior door (Mastercraft) in early August of this year, which took several weeks to come in. Once it arrived and was unpackaged, we saw the wood frame was split but my husband said he could fix that before painting so we had it installed (9/8/15). I noticed right away that condensation was forming in between the glass panes and would only get worse. I tried contacting Menards and that's when the nightmare started.

You cannot speak with anyone. There is only an online form to print, complete and mail to Wisconsin. I took pictures and included them. Weeks went by before I heard from anyone and it was in email form. After several emails, I was informed by Louise ** of Midwest Manufacturing that a replacement order would be issued. This was on 10/13/15. It is now 11/18/15 and we have not heard from anyone so I sent another email to Louise **. No one contacted me and I know no one "tried" to contact me because she has been very adamant today that they only communicate in writing. They make no phone calls and she has refused to have anyone call us.

So, now I have 2 patterns to choose from. They won't deliver a new door to the house (unless we pay full delivery charges). We will have to pick it up at the store. They won't pay anyone to have the new door installed or reimburse the $150.00 already paid to install a defective door. Needless to say, we will never make a large purchase from Menards again.

Why is that Menards has only 1 wheelchair and only 1 motorized chair? Almost every time I go to Menards in Hammond, IN there no handicap chairs at that store. I left Menards and went to Home Depot, spent about $175.00 where there were 3 again, 3 motorized chairs. I guess Menards just does not care about disabled people or veterans who are disabled. I think Menards should be embarrassed that many other stores have at least 2 or more motorized chair. Also when I was at Home Depot I met someone else that left Menards and came to Home Depot for the very same reason, just plain bad customer relations.

When I went to exchange them I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and that I was lying about the issues. They did allow me to exchange the cabinets and I looked at them before I left and some of them they had on the shelf were also damaged. The items I returned I watched them put back on the shelf to be sold to the next person. When I was there I never once had a manager come and speak to me about the issue. I called the corporate office and was told I had to submit a letter before anyone would even speak to me but I don't want to write a letter. I want the issue resolved. So I then called the store itself and spoke to the gm and also felt like I was not getting anywhere with him. I went to the O'fallon Menards today to pick up a garbage disposal. When I returned home with the appliance I realized that I had grabbed the wrong model. I took the garbage disposal back to Menards hoping to find the correct model. When I walked in with my 2 year old and 6 year old in tow, the service desk was somewhat busy. I tried to catch an employee's eye to see if I could just run back and get the model I needed to make the exchange. I could not catch their eye and at that point my 6 year old said he had to use the restroom. The disposal I already purchased was in the cart and I thought I would grab the correct model real quick, cruise by the restroom and then back to the service desk to exchange. When we got to the area where the disposals were located, a very nice and helpful employee helped me look to see if the correct model was there.

He saw the disposal in my cart and I explained I grabbed the wrong model and he was very nice and didn't say anything about needing a sticker or anything on the already purchased garbage disposal. I took my 6 year old to the restroom and then headed to the service desk to make the return. As soon as I walked up to the service desk and said I needed to make a return, the employee looked at me skeptically and said "Where did you come in the store?" I was kind of confused and pointed to the door right behind me and she said "Did you walk past this desk?" I said yes and started to explain that I had a receipt and had originally just wanted to make an exchange and the employee began to explain in a VERY condescending tone that in the future I needed to make sure I stopped at the service desk and got a sticker for the item I wanted to exchange.

I told her I did stop but they were busy and my son had to use the restroom. She proceeded to keep going with her condescending tone and said "Well I'll do it this time but if you don't want any trouble in the future you need to follow procedure". At this point I was getting frustrated because I could read her accusatory undertone and I had done nothing to deserve this tone.

First of all, I saw no "procedure" listed at the service desk. Secondly, no one would even look my way when I came in and was standing waiting for assistance, and last, but not least, I had a receipt that would match exactly to the exact product I needed to return. She made a production of having to call to some "manager" and see if it was ok to return the product since I had walked up to the service desk from the store area. I did not at all appreciate her tone and service and told her I would not be returning to their store for any of my future needs. If you have a procedure you want followed MAYBE you should acknowledge customers when they come in.

Got there, not only had Derek just loaded it into another person's car but he took off when he heard me speaking to his co-worker about picking up the item. When I found out, I requested another be sent to me from a different store since they had taken it down at my request and he had said they were too busy when I was willing to go get it.

I ended up standing around waiting for a manager, who happened to have stood there and listened to the whole situation and walked off, only to have him be a complete jerk and tell me "Well you could have driven the 20 miles to go get the other one by now". On Oct 6, 2015 we placed an order (#**) online, as we do not live anywhere near Menards stores. On the October 6 order, we paid an extra $65 for Express 2-day shipping. On Oct 8 we checked to see the delivery status, and found that the order was placed into "Manufacturer back-order" status. We used the Menards online "contact us" form, in an attempt to find out an expected delay time, but received NO replies. We then contacted the "Manufacturer" to inquire about the "back-order" status and their reply is copied and pasted below:

“Hello, Thank you for contacting Rust-Oleum Product Support. They are not on backorder everywhere. I am not sure why you are getting that error from them. You can place the order with another retailer such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Amazon. This should not be backordered across the board." We then used the Menards "Contact Us" form again, and relayed this information on that form, and again, we received NO Reply! But upon checking the order status again later, the status had been changed from "Manufacturer Back-Ordered", to "Shipped in full to guest", noting that the shipping label had been created, but no further information.

On Oct 9, we again checked the shipping status, and there was no updated information, other than the shipping label was created. At this point, we used the Menards "Contact Us" form again to request a cancellation of the order and reimbursement to our credit card. We did get a reply from this request as follows: “I am checking to see if your order can be cancelled. Because your order has been submitted for processing to our warehouse or vendor, we cannot guarantee that your order can be cancelled, but will do our best to honor your request. As soon as information regarding the cancellation request is received, I would be happy to contact you back."

We then contacted the shipping company the label was created for, to check on the status. Here is what we learned on Oct 10, from FedEx on the tracking of the shipment: "Our records show that while the shipper has generated a label for this package, it has not been tendered to FedEx for delivery. At this point, may we suggest that you contact your shipper for further assistance."

So, as you can see, this order has not been "Shipped in full to guest" status, as Menards guest services department has placed the order into. All we are asking is for this order to not get filled, not get shipped, and get refunded in full. Today is Oct 13. We paid for this order on Oct 6, paying for 2-day shipping! The order has not been shipped yet. And we have been given misleading information from the beginning. If this item was not in stock to fill our order, why did Menards system not indicate this prior to final shopping cart purchase? DO NOT DO ONLINE BUSINESS WITH MENARDS!

I was recently shopping for a lawn mower. I contacted the store closest to me and asked if they knew if and when they might get in more this year. This was highly unlikely as I called in very late September or early October. I spoke with them and was told that I could contact another store that was about 40 miles from my house as it appeared they might have some in back. I called the other store only to be told that there was an error on the computer and there were none available. By the way I neglected to indicate these stores were in Livonia, Michigan and Chesterfield Township, Michigan. I was also given a store to contact in Iowa that indicated they had several available.

I contacted the Iowa store and spoke to what ultimately I found out to be was a brand new customer service manager who advised me that she would transfer me to the department and they in turn would get all the necessary information from me to have the item shipped to a local store for me to pick up there. Once I was transferred I provided all the information requested except my charge card information as the associate I talked to indicated he would call me back shortly to confirm a sale and the fact that he thought that I had been misled and that there would be a charge to ship the item. After adding the shipping cost this became very unrealistic. I contacted Menards corporate office and went around in circles trying to get to talk with a person. The greeting at Menards corporate so that is their goal to satisfy the customer. Any and all concerns must be submitted via email.

Ultimately I obtained a direct phone number for the store manager in Iowa who advised I was given bad information and this error would be clarified with anyone who answered phones. He was absolutely not willing to do anything to assist with me getting this item. I understand policy is policy but I also understand that if the company goal is to satisfy customers he should have come up with some sort of an idea how to try to make things right. Something as simple as a small gift card to be used locally may have been an appropriate action he could have taken. While Menards is still kind of new in our area I for one have no intention of ever shopping there. I can always go to Home Depot, Lowe's or various other retailers.

As it turned out the corner strips and starter strips were the correct amount indicating they had very accurate dimensions; however the corner block and especially the wainscot were way underestimated, while the brick were estimated a full pallet over. I had to pay for two delivery trucks to deliver initially due to overestimate and was told I would have to pay for one to pick up the excess again.

What's even worse is I was scheduled for eifs this week and have to rush the underestimated stuff for another 215 dollars in shipping. The return will cost me over 200 for restocking fee and truck plus the additional 215 for getting what I need. Not to mention I would not have needed two trucks to start with at 60 dollars per delivery. Over 475 dollars wasted due to their ignorance. This will be it for me!

Under urgent need, they would not deliver that day (around 1:00 pm we were there). It came the next morning. Ice maker not working. Water spout goes right over your glass and hits you and the wood floor. The two doors, side by side style, were uneven making the handles uneven also. Missing shelf in freezer and unadjustable, therefore the holes must be there for another shelf.

Went camping up in the mountains and after about 30 minutes it started running rough. Shut it down and checked out oil and gas. Next day I started it back up and it wouldn't keep running. Took it down to Casper Menards. They said “Sorry we don't take them back without a independent service tech” saying it was not worth repairing.

We took it over (camper still on Mountain) and he couldn't look at it until the next morning. So there went $100.00 for motel. Picked it up and he said it has the wrong jets in the carburetor and it won’t stay running above 3500 ft. His shop in town is 5000 ft. Says to buy more plugs and good luck. Then charges me $75.00. I get back to camper and guess what. Yep won’t run. I bought this on by Menards card and have not even made a payment. But they don't care. They sold it knowing that it wouldn't run. But oh yeah the Tech said I could buy a carburetor kit for $150.00. So I already paid $650.00 for the Generator, $100.00 for room, $75.00 for repairs, and have used it for about 3 hours. I ordered a gas range from Menards.com on July 7, 2015. Before making my choice I spent 3 weeks deciding what I wanted. Of my specifications, I wanted self-cleaning and the broiler in the oven. Because nobody has a large variety on-hand, you're almost always required to order online or take what's available. Sight unseen. I kept going back to Menards because we shop there a lot (until now) and they had the best price. The range I wanted was a GE, Black, Slide-in, self-cleaning and every time I searched it would bring up 10 options. I could go right to the one I wanted because I remembered the last 7 identifying model numbers. Because I would choose self-cleaning, none of my choices were manual clean. However, once I made my purchase, everything changed from there. The model number on my receipt dropped a zero and I now have ordered a manual clean, broiler in the bottom range.

I didn't notice the dropped zero at all. I know what I ordered. It was supposed to be delivered to the store July 20th. I had received a progress bar in an email once my order was placed but there was no change from that point on. On July 21st, (Tuesday) I stopped at the store to see if it had delivered and I just wasnt made aware. No, it was still showing on order, 14 days later. The guy at the counter suggested that I email the vendor so I did, immediately, and got a response fairly quickly that the range had been on back-order and was now being processed to the delivery agent. It was expected to be delivered to the store on Friday or Monday.

On July 23rd the progress bar went to in transit to the store. It was delivered to the store July 27th and I picked it up July 28th. Now, they don't install special orders so I had to pay someone to install it (along with the new connection hose) on July 30th. Once it was installed I was telling the installer my reasons for choosing this range. Self-cleaning, broiler in the oven, and he pulled out the drawer and the broiler was in the bottom, therefore, the range was manual clean. I called the store and they refused to take it back, it's a special order. The department manager was berating me for ordering the wrong stove, telling me I should have checked my numbers when I ordered it, it became my mistake.

Finally, the next day the General Manager of the store called and offered me a comparable range, for $50 more because the range I had ordered was discontinued and no longer available to order online. I would have had to pay someone to disconnect the range I received, load it myself, take it back to the store, unused for 2-3 weeks (the old range is long gone) until the replacement came in, pick up the range that I didn't really want, buy another gas hose connection and pay someone again to connect the replacement. REALLY??? I'm stuck with a gas range that's manual clean and the broiler in the bottom. No wonder you can't post reviews on Menards website. No longer a Menards shopper.

We paid $119 for delivery and a few days before the scheduled delivery, called and added 20 more bricks and 10 more wedges to our order. When my husband opened the pallet, we received the wrong color wedges. We received our fire pit in Autumn Blend, our bricks in Autumn Blend and our wedges in Tan. Wrong color. When I called the store and told them, we were told we had to bring them back and make the exchange. We have spent over $2500 there for this project. I gave the shipping coordinator the number off our previous receipt and also verbally stated the color. He repeated it all back to me and it was correct. Now we are expected to drive two hrs round trip to correct Menards' mistake! Lowe's here we come. We will never shop at Menards again. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

Menards advertised their rebate program with 11% off any item during certain months. After sending in my receipt and requested information, I finally got back a rebate in the form of a merchandise credit to use at their store. This is a huge false advertisement and needs to be brought to light. Don't advertise I'm getting cash back, when in actuality I'm getting credit to go spend more at your store. Shame you on Menards, I will not be buying from you anymore.

On May 12, 2015, I purchased a special order consisting of four wall panels and several fence posts. When I looked at the receipt it indicated a "combine PKG &/OR Handling Charge". When I questioned what this charge was for, the manager at the Oak Creek Menards store informed me that it was for the special crating that was needed to ship the items and it was basically a charge for the wood that was used to make the crate. He also told me that if I returned the wood that was used to make the crate, I would receive a refund for this fee.

When the items arrived, I picked them up at the store and there was no special crating - the panel and posts arrived loosely. Again, I asked why this handling fee was charged and at that time, I was told that it is Menards' policy to charge a fee if a quantity of less than 22 items are ordered because a crate had to be broken apart to fulfill the order. I did not agree with this policy, but I just let it go. On July 28, 2015 I needed one more panel and two more posts...so I placed another special order, and AGAIN I was charged $19.99 for the handling. When I spoke with another department manager at the Oak Creek Menards, he told me that it was "the vendor's policy" and he could not do anything about it. I think this fee is basically a fraudulent charge. I would like the total "fees" of $39.98 refunded and to have the BBB look into this practice so other consumers are not charged these fees.

I went into Menards to return two small items. I originally spent over $40 and used $7 in rebate credit. I was told that I had to get store credit even if I did spend my money. Store credit first then any money spent. To me that's trying to control how I spend My money. It's bad enough you wait months to receive the little rebate. A week ago I was shopping in Home Depot. I looked to this one guy and said, "That's on sale at Menards." He turned to me and said, "It's not worth it. I'll rather pay three times the amount before I shop at Menards." At that time I'm thinking, "He's crazy." Now I'm thinking, "I'm crazy." I'm not a child that needs supervision with MY money!!!

Items6 ordered online were misrepresented and needed to be returned. Egress window well covers were stated to be a 60 inch wide on the website and were actually 67 inches wide. Nowhere on the website did it state that the items were oversized. This oversize was verified as standard by the manufacturer and Menards should have been aware of this in order to correctly state the size in the specifications on their website. When the items were returned to the Menards store in Germantown we were assessed a 25% restocking fee, which the manager justified by telling us that it was our fault because the items were ordered online and it would have never happened if we had ordered them in the store. In the future, I fully intend to take the manager's advice and will not be ordering online and all future purchases will be made at Home Depot.

This comment is specifically applicable to the Manchester Rd., St.Louis, MO Menards. I had to return 10 step stair stringers and get 14 step stringers. I called ahead and spoke with the Building materials manager, and he didn't mention anything about the exact process of how a return is handled. Showed up at the store, was shuffled from desk to desk, while attendants figured out what the exact procedure is for returning lumber. Was charged inside the store for getting the 14 step stringers cut to 12 steps, only to find out that lumber yard people don't cut stair stringers. This resulted in yet another shuffle from service desk to service desk.

All I wanted to do was return 3 stair stringers and get 3 new ones, and it took from 7:10 pm - 8:45 pm. This is an example of classic waste of time and super ignorant staff - worse customer experience ever. The only reason I picked Menards over Home Depot was because Home Depot didn't have more than a 6 step stringer for deck. Needless to say I will not be returning to Menards.

I've been trying for months to get a nearly $300 rebate, without success. The company that handles the rebates seems utterly clueless; judging from the responses, I'm not even sure I'm dealing with a real person. The usual response is that they need 5 - 7 days to "research" a question, regardless of how simple the question is. (For example: "Did you send the rebate?") The rebates are sent in postcard form, which makes about as much sense as sending an envelope with "cash enclosed" printed on the outside.

From what I've read, there's no problem using the postcards at Menards without I.D. However, that hasn't happened to me; they simply can't seem to get the postcard/check to me. The rebate firm subcontracted by Menards doesn't even qualify as a joke. It's way beyond that. I assume Menards has purposely arranged to make it as hard as humanly possible to claim your money. Assuming I'm ever actually successful in doing that. I consider this to be a complete scam worthy of a class action lawsuit.

The options given on the kiosk when paying with the Menards Big Card are: 2% rebate, 2 years no interest on purchases under $1500, or 4 years no interest on purchases over $1500. The real deal is on the over $1500 4 year deal Capital One is charging 3.99% interest! Why would anyone chose 3.99% for 4 years over NO interest for 2 years? I tried fixing this with Capital One and was informed this is an ongoing problem.

I then called the corporate offices of Menards and after telling the story 6 times ended up with a condescending jerk named Jeff ** who apparently, according to him, has no boss other than the C.O.O. of Menards. He started the conversation with insults and condescension and finished with "what do you want me to do about it?" I made the call to Menards as a loyal customer trying to fix an obvious issue and ended it by not condemning the corporation for the bad attitude of one employee, but not taking the disrespect or the glitch/lie at the kiosk. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and am posting here to say buyer beware!

I ordered 3 UltraDeck Redwood stair boards 3 times already and still not received right product. First order date was 6/20, told me come to pick up my order. Yardmen and I spent 1 hr looked for the boards but found nothing. I then proceeded to the service desk, gave the lady paperwork, and requested to reorder the same items (order #: **). So, on 6/27, after received email, I come to pick up the boards. Turned out they are not the right type of board I want. I had to returned/reordered again. This time I went to the project desk, a specialist named Mark put together an order for me. Again I picked them up yesterday 7/14. This type the product is right, but all 3 of them cracked right in the middle of the board. The crack runs end to end. I hope someone from Menards read this to see how time wasting you guys caused.

I ordered a custom door for a rental house that I am working on. The girl who helped ordered the door was great. After receiving an email that the door was ready for pick up, my friend took time off work to pick it up for me. He spent approximately 45 minutes, and they could not locate the door in their yard. They said they would reorder it, and that they would ship it for free or deduct $50.00.

A few hours later, I received a call from Leslie that they located the door. Menards is 30 minutes from the rental house, and our time is very limited. I asked Leslie, who asked her GM, Chris, how much they would deduct if we rescheduled a pickup, and Chris said $25.00. I told Leslie that I would just have them deliver it, but the rental house is vacant, and I cannot get there until 4:30 during the week. I could hear Chris telling her that they could not work around my schedule, and he was very rude. Leslie finally told me the day that it would be delivered, and that the driver would call me ahead of time to schedule the time.

I received a call from the driver on the delivery day. It was in the morning when I was at work, and he was already at the location of the rental house. The door was not in a box, and he had to leave it outside in the open. He said that there were no special instructions with the door. He was very nice and tried to hide it with a trash can. When I got to the house later that day, the door was too heavy for me to take into the house and my friend had to drive 30 minutes one way to help me. I will definitely be spending the rest of my $5,000 rehab money at Lowe's and/or Home Depot on this house.

We ordered a vanity with a mirror and small cabinet. The vanity arrived in dozen of pieces. I send an email to the indicated email 'Customer Service - Menards Special Order Center,' and I received a very vague answer. There is no date to indicate when the new vanity will be replaced, etc. There is no phone number to call on any of their sites. Never seen something like this. How can they have a Customer Service without a phone number?

I am writing this review because of two incidents with Menards. After the second one, we will no longer be shopping at Menards for anything again. First, last August we purchased a new bed from Menards. When we got the mattress, the metal frame was bent so we returned it for a replacement. Menards outsources their deliveries. The delivery service hit our mail box leaving the driveway and broke it. When contacting the delivery service and having to make repeated calls to get the guy to come look at it, he said, "just get a couple of screws and fix it". No apology, or offer to fix it, etc. We decided we would never use their delivery service again.

Second incident was yesterday. We went to get gutter screen that was on sale and free after rebate. The ad said that if they were out, item could be ordered. The catch? Pay for the item, they will order, but they could not guarantee we would ever get the item and even if we did, they had no idea of when. They may do a volume of business, but it will be the last time they get ours! Rebates are a joke because it's not costing them a dime to give you an "in store credit rebate" whatsoever. They buy an item wholesale for $1 and mark it up to let's say $3. Give you a rebate of 11%. $3 - .33 = $2.67.. They still made $1.67 profit, plus the .33 in store credit from the rebate that you turn around and spend in their store! Their motto should be "We Make Big Money when you Shop Menards!"

I purchased a tiller, took it home, assembled it, added oil and gas per directions, got it started and tried it out in my small garden plot. It did not have enough power to till the ground, the blades kept stalling with the belt squealing. I ran it for about 10 minutes, decided it was not going to do the job. I cleaned it up and took it back to the store where I was told they would not accept it back because I had added gasoline. I was told I could take it to a repair shop, now I have to run around town, delivery and pick up, and am at the mercy of the repair shop conclusion.

I feel Menards misrepresented the capability of this machine and is not accepting any responsibility for making it right. I am sorely disappointed and will not shop there again even though I am a long time customer. On that day, I had my son with me, he was going to purchase a 16' garage door, but after the incident, we went directly to Lowe's, spent about $1300 there for the door. They have lost a customer and I will tell everyone I know about my experience.
