The employee at Family Dollar is a rude disrespectful child. After spending my money in their store the cashier got rude and disrespectful to me as I was walking out the door and when I asked what he said he said it again then I asked for the store manager. He claimed he was the store manager which I highly doubt.

In July of 2016, I visited store #4428, lapalco Blvd., Harvey, lA. As I was trying to check my items out, I Sat the hand-held basket on the counter so that the cashier could rang up my items. The clerk rudely asked me to removed the items from the basket. After some conversation about this I started removing items from the basket. End of transaction included the cashier throwing my receipt and money at me which brought me to making a formal complaint at the corporate office.

In Sept. 2016, I visited the same store and the same clerk told me that I wasn't welcomed in the store. After I pressed her why, she then accused me of stealing. I told her absolutely not. You have a personal vendetta against me because I called the Corp. office on you. She then threatened me with calling the police. The following days I called the Corp office once again to make a formal complaint. I also asked that the district manager to give me a call. Which did not happen.

After a month on non-communication, I did a follow-up call to ask what the outcome of my case was. The corp associate begins to tell me that the manager substantiated the claims and the case was closed. I then asked her how did she make that determination without any proof of an incident. I then asked to speak to the regional manager because the district manager has not returned my call after 2 requests. She then explained to me that I could not speak to the regional manager because I haven't talked to the district manager. My question is how am I to talk to the district manager if he refuses to return my call. The representation that is working for this company is absolutely incompetent. I can't believe that a company would allow themselves to be betrayed in this manner.

I am a regular everyday customer that spends a lot of money at this store and this is not the first time I've been treated badly at this store. This specific day I spent 28.00 and after I paid I realized I had a 5 off 25 coupon in my purse and not only did this employee Alex deny the coupon but he refused my return and called me names in front of many other customers and said if I didn't leave the store he would call the cops and I'm disgusted with this behavior as a customer.

I cannot believe I was treated this way when I didn't do anything wrong except forget to use a coupon I had with me and I got called names in front of other customers and threatened by him! I've seen this same employee sitting around talking about chicks while customers wait and heard other employees complain about him while I was in the store at other times and he keeps getting away with this disgusting behavior! I'm appalled that family dollar would represent themselves with an employee like this Alex! I will not let this stuff go 'til someone does something about him!

The store in New Milford on Rt 7 is terrible. The employees are too worried about their phones. When I checked out I was charged for stuff that I didn't buy, stuff that was supposed to be on sale didn't come up on sale, and I was charged bottle deposit on lemonade that I can't even get the deposit back. When I called corporate the ** on the other end of the phone told me it was my fault because I should have been watching and that the coupons don't come off. I have to ask for them to come off, and in order to return something I need the product but I didn't buy it and walk out with the product so returning something I don't have is going to be hard. When I told the customer service rep that she told me I should have checked my recipe before leaving. She said that there was nothing that she could do for me and hung up on me! I will never shop at Family Dollar again anywhere.

Yes I visited a Family Dollar location and found what I needed and brought it to the register. I was overcharged by $5. The item was only $1. I told the cashier that I was charged the incorrect price and she didn't understand what I was saying because she did not understand English. Major disappointment complaint number #1, then she started talking to another employee and he came up front to see what she was saying. The cashier starts going to the back of the store where I found the product. I followed her to show her the correct price. We got halfway to the back and she started talking to the other employee in Spanish and she went back to the front. I started talk to the other employee and he totally ignored while we were only 2 feet apart. I was told him that I had been charged the wrong price.

He started yelling to the cashier in Spanish. So I replied "So you don't speak English either?" He said "Oh yeah I speak English but I'm talking to my employee." So I said "So you're not going to talk to me the person who is having a issue." He walked off and started having attitude and took the product back to the front of the store and told the cashier the right price and she finally charged me a $1 for the product. Wow this is really bad customer service, I would appreciate if something can be done. I feel if you are going to work in a store in Dallas Texas and expect for us to pay then the store could at least hire people that are bilingual and can communication with the customers. Bad Service! Since then I have also contacted corporate and was informed that someone would be contacting me in 5 business days. It's going on 2 weeks now... Very unprofessional!

I live within blocks from Family Dollar store# 05451 Marion, Indiana, so I stop in several times a week. My day of errands I stopped at 2 other Family Dollar stores and made several purchases, one was a garment rack which fell apart trying to put it together. So I chose to return that and a couple of other items to this store. It was closer to me and I thought no problem they do returns from all Family Dollar stores. So when I told the store manager, Laura, I had these returns but was purchased from other stores, mind you, I just purchased these the day before, had correct receipts, she looks me in the eye and said she could not do returns because her supervisor was not there and that she did not have approval to do returns, that she needed a supervisor to ok the return. Now I'm saying "are you kidding me. You are a store manager, and why was there not a supervisor on duty if you do not have control of the store."

She said I would have to take them back to each store, and I said **. So I went to my car, call the store on Adams St, ask for the supervisor, which answered the phone, Melissa, told her the story, said she would do it. So I had to drive 20 minutes out of my way to the return. Melissa was very apologetic, agreed with me that she should have done the return, just downright LAZY. I will not shop when Laura is working. I will go to your competitor. I did not keep the receipts after the return transaction, did not need them, but I'm sure if Melissa is still supervisor by the time you see this, she will remember the story.

Yesterday as I was being rung up for my purchase the manager who was waiting me was on the phone with a personal call. (Always is the case). She was not paying attention to my order. When she tallied I noticed my bill to be in excess. I had picked up a deodorant that was marked 70 cents. It rang up $2.10. I called her attention to it. She replied "it's $2.10." I then told her I wanted it for the marked price. She told me to hold on, "I know you used to work for Family Dollar and know the rules." This is all while she is on the phone. Then told me she was going to give it to for the marked price. I then offered her an apology if I had offended her. At this point because of her rudeness I meant that in a condescending manner. She didn't get it. Never once did I receive a greeting or a smile. It appears this girl really likes her job!

I did put in a request with another store manager for the D.M. to give me a call. I still haven't received that either. I wish Family Dollar would investigate and take action on complaints instead of letting them fall to the wayside. I feel that my previous employment had nothing to do with me as a customer. If someone would hold these managers accountable maybe your stores wouldn't be in such disarray. I always shop your store for convenience. However there is a Dollar General close as well. In the future when I go to store 706 if this manager is at the register I will not make a purchase.

The location at 6319 Saint Andrews Road Columbia has improved dramatically. As it is just over one mile from my house, I patronize it often. When the previous manager worked there, there were out of stock issues and abysmal customer service. When they changed the store manager, the whole shopping experience was transformed. She is perceptive to stop abusive couponistas who violate the redemption rules and will fulfill all of the corporate policies and values, using common sense. The non-compliant employees were purged and seemingly great associates were hired by her. Especially the latest hire who exudes great work ethic and is amazingly attuned to the best practices of customer service. The manager exhibits courage by letting the new hire wear her hijab or dupatta. Great job regarding diversity!

There was also a young man there although not cursing but laughing and joking about the situation with her, then a traffic officer came to door to paste a ticket on the door which set her off once more. I arrived with a school friend to shop for a backpack. The parking lot was so unkempt that I feared rolling over glass/trash. The whole parking lot was overflowing. After carefully parking, we reluctantly stepped inside and found that towards the back was a huge plastic bin on one of the aisles, and as we passed, we saw water dripping from the upper ceiling through the light fixtures into one of the huge grey plastic storage bins (that was 1/2 full), sitting atop the top shelving unit below the light.

I feared for the safety of the employees. I decided to leave. In doing so, I went into the parking lot and started taking pictures of this hideous scene, and heard an intercom speaker sound aloud addressing me by one of the employees, stating that no pictures are allowed on the property. I wondered how it was easy to keep an eye on me, but not put forth the effort to remove waste from their lot. It is/was disgusting. This place should be shut down.

I shop at the Family Dollar on 10th and Midwest Blvd for the close location. I've shopped at many other Family Dollar stores and have NEVER experienced any problems and the employees are helpful, I guess. The store on NE 10 has gone downhill and FAST. Someone needs to come in a teach these people how to deal with customers, because they are terrible!!! On TWO occasions I was followed around the store by one particular employee/stocker. Both times it was SO obvious I was being followed that I stopped mid-aisle and just stared back waiting for him to go by, while he stared me down entire way. It made me very uncomfortable!! It would anyone! He obviously was not stocking the shelves and was bringing the boxes to whatever aisle he had the best view of me. At first I blew it off thinking maybe it's the security man, or maybe he thinks he knows me.

After the 2nd stalker event last month I have been avoiding the store almost completely. Until today... I went in the store for 5-6 different items. As I'm in laundry aisle I like to smell the different fragrances, like we woman will do sometimes before making final decision. I like to smell dryer sheets also. I picked out my dryer sheets and was giving myself a min to look at rugs before deciding on my soap. Well of course the stock boy who of course was following me the whole time alerted management to me smelling the fragrances!! This woman was HORRIBLE. I'm not a thief but that is EXACTLY what she made me out to be! She intentionally gathered OTHER EMPLOYEES AROUND while she accused me of "vandalism" of the store! It was ridiculous!!

After her outrageous accusations, she loudly announced she'd be escorting me out and if I came back I'd be trespassing!! This is while I'm purchasing all my items. Everyone I smelled even though I just took the cap off, don't see how that's vandalism?!? Then that wasn't good enough for her power-hungry rampage. She followed me to the front the whole time loudly speaking about me opening the soaps as if I had stole something, then with about 8 people around made her grand announcement AGAIN about me not being welcome in the store!! I couldn’t believe it!! For smelling laundry soap!! No seal was broken, nothing. It's ridiculous!! The several times she asked me a question then as I'm starting answering, she immediately cut me off and would repeat her question over and over so I could not get a single word in!!

She is supposed to be in charge, yet that was the unbelievably UNPROFESSIONAL and a gross exaggeration of anything even being done wrong!!! I was just humiliated over something that I am allowed to do!! Then made out to be a full-blown CRIMINAL BY THIS POWER HUNGRY MANAGER!! I'm calling corporate. I'm an excellent customer and this lady is OUT OF CONTROL!!!

I've been shopping at the Family Dollar on State and Washington St here in Indianapolis for about 10 years. The past 3 years this store has become by far the worst store I have ever come across in all my life! The employees suck terribly! They are lazy... smoking outside every 5 minutes. When you need help with anything they respond they don't know. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHERE PAPER TOWELS ARE? Last week I needed one of the guys that worked there to get me something from the top shelf. He said he was busy to go up front and ask somebody else. I was irritated by it but did. Got up front and the girl said she's going on a smoke break. Between the pure laziness of both employees and their bad attitudes I just went over and grabbed a broom and knocked it down myself.

About that time the manager was coming in for her shift. I heard a customer ask about splitting a payment between cash and card the manager said "no we don't do that." The lady responded she's been doing it for years. I guess the manager was in a bad mood and went off on the older lady. She cussed her out then said she was going to call the police on her. I was thinking WHAT THE HELL THE LADY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WRONG AT ALL. Then the lady said she was nuts and was leaving, she decided not to purchase from this store. The manager said she gets off at 10 o'clock and for the lady to "meet her there after work so she could beat her **" was her exact words! This was just in my last visit.

That store is so ran down that they let people steal out of it and say they are not going to chase them down. And people wonder why the prices keep going up higher. The shelves are always empty. The staff does not clean up their appearance to come to work, they are very rude and they close early every night. If you want to buy cigarettes at 8 o'clock you can't because they lock up the case. Why is it that this stuff is allowed? It's ridiculous!

I shopped there out of convenience but I'm over it. This store makes my stomach turn because I feel like physically putting these people in their places. So instead of going to jail because they are just that rude, I avoid it altogether. Customers need to start speaking up about this stuff and maybe corporate office will take it more seriously. I will spend my 200 a week I usually spend on household items at a place that appreciates my business!

The convenience of the store is wearing thin on my patience. This brand new store has no A/C so right there your shopping experience has lowered expectations before you can grab a basket. The store is always dirty, aisles are littered with unopened product that no one could care less about to put away, and the quality of the customer service is pitiful. There must be at least 3 employees on staff, but you only see one of them and they are running the register. The line is wrapped around the front counter and your stress builds. After going up and down the unmarked aisles desperately looking for bread, you make your way through the littered aisles only to meet the unwelcoming cashier.

She waits patiently for you to make your payment. Upon receiving my receipt I notice she did not put my cat food in a bag. I kindly ask her to place it in a bag, since I am on foot with my son and we are walking home. She told me these are the only bags she has and refused to help me. She proceeded to help the next customer instead. I stood there and asked again and she refused. I've had it! These employees are not only not trained properly, they lack empathy for others. I am very disappointed and embarrassed to have this store in my neighborhood. The convenience is nice but the way you get treated and the atmosphere of this location is actually less than one star.

Something needs to change. I know I can't be the only resident that feels this way. The appearance of the store from the outside is also trashy. There is a trashcan that is always overfilled. Does corporate even visit this location? Management needs to step up and take responsibility. I would like to see a change, but every time I walk through the automatic doors it's worse off than it was before. I refuse to give them any more of my business. There is no pride or care in keeping the customer happy at this store. I'm disgusted and let down. I will take my money somewhere else.

How on earth do you build a brand new store without a ac in it? Second off, I returned a ten dollar computer mouse, which took not one but four times for the cashier to do the return on my card and last but not least the money from the return was not put on my card instantly. When I asked how long it will take the cashier gave a huff and said "Well, it can take 24 hours or days. We don't know." Seriously? I went to ask where the light bulbs were located (Brandy is her name). She was still on the cell phone, but told me to go left on back wall. They were not there, of course, and I got a bit miffed that she was too busy to get off the damn phone to really help. I dumped gloves and toothpicks on a shelf, and walked toward the front of store to leave. She came toward me and asked did I find the light-bulbs. I said, "NO." Then she asked did I change my mind about the gloves and when I replied, "YES," she said she needed to look in my purse, that she was watching me on the camera. I lost my temper and "clicked" on her and told her she wasn't looking in my purse, that the mess was on the shelf, if she really had been watching, she would have seen where I put it.

She said she was calling the police, so I showed her where it was. I grew even angrier and told her to call the police. I would wait until they got there to file a harassment complaint, and call KAIT News to come do a story. The shampoo did not have the most favorable scent but I followed it up with a great smelling conditioner. I immediately felt the results once I towel dried my hair and brushed it. Once my hair air dried, I noticed I had no flakes. With this product, I wash my hair only once a week and have had great results every time. At my local Family Dollar my friends and I will occasionally go and get energy and this was before they made a 2 student in-store only and we always have like 20$ or so. And every time we went the employee working the cash register always looked at my brother because he's ** and whoever was at the cash register would always stare at him like he's going to steal anything. So once he had money and we walked up to check out he or she would stop him from paying with money I gave him for his birthday because they thought it was counterfeit. So they tore the money and kicked us out. All their employees do the same thing. Even once they had an employee spy on him to make sure he wouldn't steal anything.

So, today I visited my local Family Dollar, it's a five minute walk from my house. I visit this store quite frequently, and today I decided I wanted to get some new nail polish. Upon finding the nail polish section of the aisle, I saw it was in absolute disarray with nail polish markings all over the place and all of the polishes were in the wrong slots and so on. I proceeded to pick out a few colors I liked and even tried some of them on my nails (I had no idea this wasn't allowed, especially since it was obvious other shoppers had tested the polishes all over the store's shelves and products). The manager walked by me and didn't say a word to me. While she was checking out another customer she yelled out to me, "Hun, you can't try the nail polishes on unless you're going to buy them," to which I responded, "Oh, I'm sorry".

A few minutes passed and I picked out several choices that I was going to purchase. I opened one of those and swiped it over my nail, just to make sure it was the one I thought it was. The employee then shouted at me, at a high volume while she was checking someone out, "I JUST TOLD YOU YOU CAN"T TRY THE NAIL POLISHES!" and I responded, "You said that I couldn't try them unless I was going to buy them, and I am going to buy these." She then continued yelling at me in a very unprofessional manner and told me to come on and buy them then, and I told her I didn't want to buy them after all the fuss she just made about it. So I set down my several nail polish choices that I was going to purchase, and made my way towards the door. She was yelling in her extremely unprofessional (let's just say it, flat out trashy) manner and I, admittedly very immaturely, gave her the finger on my way out.

Now I know I shouldn't have done this, but I was getting pretty upset with her behavior at this point. She then yelled, "** you!!" to me, and then I turned around and marched back into the store and asked to speak to her manager. This is when I learned that she was the manager (no surprise there...) and I asked her name to which she replied, "None of your damn business." I then asked for a number to reach someone to file a complaint and she gave me the store's customer service line, all the while cursing and complaining in a most unprofessional, disrespectful way.

I tried to call the line but it is a Sunday and, understandably, is not during normal business hours. I feel that this young lady acted in a most disgraceful manner as a store manager. I do admit that I acted unfavorably as well, and I know it is no excuse, but in this last few days I lost a dear pet and have had some very disturbing issues at work, but either way, I was the customer and she the store's manager. This was the first time I have had an issue at this store and I am so very disappointed in this woman's behavior that I can say with certainty, that is the last time I visit that store. (BTW- this store is located on Old Kings directly across from San Jose Manor Dr. and the Exxon gas station.)

When I reached the register to pay for my items there was an officer standing near the door. Upon leaving the store he asked for my cart. When I left the store he left. I will never shop in that store again. What can I do about being treated that way? I am a tax paying citizen. I did not appreciate being treated that way.

Very rude clerk. I went to return slippers that didn't fit. As I approached to explain my return, it raised his voice stating that there were no tags on the slippers. I had a receipt showing my purchase. He kept saying there are no tags. You could tell they hadn't been worn. At this point I was getting angry but kept my cool. A woman walked through the front too asking to use the restroom. He told her no, she asked nicely if her two year old could please use the restroom. Very rudely he said "I told you no." I found this very upsetting and unacceptable. I will never return that Family Dollar. The address for the store is 4609 Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs.

I went to check out and was waiting for 10 minutes so the employee can finish their text on their phone. I thought Family Dollar close at 10pm. Well at least that is what is on the door and then I went there earlier and I got in. Well I don't see very well and asked this young man, Tony, if he could please show where something I was going for was and he actually turned around and looked me in the face and said and I quote, "Look lady I am not the one who is looking for the ** so I am not going to walk around the store and look for something I don't need or want so good luck with that."

I was in total shock. I spend a lot of money in your store but I am not going to go back there again and get treated like that the young lady you had working there before him. I think her name was Jenny or Jenifer something like that. She was so nice and so helpful to the stores. Guessed I loved going in there. Anyway I would hope you do something about this man because I am not the first person he has disrespected like this or have heard him talking to everyone anyway he wants to. I really hope you do something to solve this problem. I have video treating people like this, if you want me to send it to you, I will do this. I really used to love Family Dollar till I met this man and now I don't even like to go in there. On Christmas me and a friend decided to stop in and pick a few last minute items such as wrapping paper, tape, etc. As my friend did some looking round on her own I did my shopping. I found the wrapping paper I was looking for and I noticed a sign on the box "buy one get one 50% off" so I grabbed about 4 rolls and a gentleman standing next to me. I also informed him so he grabbed a few as well. I continued to shop, while the gentleman checked out at the register. I could hear him telling the cashier of the sale sign, she went back and check and gave him the discount.

So as I finished my shopping I got to the register and told the cashier (not the same one who checked out the man ) who I later found out to be the manager about the sale sign. She asked me where did I find it I took her back to where the sign had been and it was now gone, I explained the other associate must have removed it after the man's purchase.

My friend had finished her shopping and realized she left her purse in the car so she ran out while I finished my purchase. So the manager did honor the sale sticker which I did appreciate, but that's not where things went wrong, I stepped out the store and my friend returned in only to hear the cashier calling me a liar to another customer who had been behind me in line then she didn't realize my friend had returned so she started talking about her as well her exact words were, "Yeah and her friend said she left money in the car, yeah right we get that all the time."

My friend then yelled out "I'm right here." The associate was looking real stupid that she had been caught talking about customers. It was very unprofessional and disrespectful. We are regular Family Dollar customers even though there are never enough worker and the lines are super long and place is always clustered but after that situation I will not be returning there. I have shopped at this particular store for five years now and if it wasn't for convenience I probably wouldn't have shopped there after the third visit, but the city of St James MN is very small and there are limited choices. As a household we spend between 100 and 200 dollars a week here even though I have waited up to ten min to be helped at the register or I've had to wait on employees to finish their conversion to be rang up, or I had been over charged for prune juice and because I asked for my money to be put back on my card I had to stand there and watch as both employees rolled their eyes as the one walks off then yells the correct price back to the other cashier as both of them laugh as if there was a joke that I had just walked into.

I have dealt with this, all of this even though about two years prior to any of these incidents my boyfriend was accused of shoplifting. Shoplifting supposedly an entire bad full of merchandise which he never did. But I still shopped there because of convenience but tonight December 19 absolutely tops the cake. About a week prior I had ran in to get some pens for work and as my boyfriend sat in the car with his sister they were approached by the manager who cordially had a conversation with the both of them and had said to him she had no idea why he wasn't allowed in the store. Because there was no evidence just hearsay. Since then I've shopped there three other times, tonight I was asked if we could be dropped off because some Christmas gifts were going to my house and I couldn't see them so I needed to pick up a few things and decided for them to drop me off at Family Dollar. Me and my boyfriend both shopped and had no problem.

We were outside, got home and I realized that I had forgot some mints. We went back, as we walked in, this time a different cashier looked at my boyfriend and with about 10 other people around said, "You're not supposed to be in here, you thief. I saw you steal a bag of merchandise." As she is over and over again calling him a thief and as she's on the phone and all of these customers are watching including my 55-year-old mother and brother. I say, "Ma'am, if that was the case why is it that we have never been contacted by police, or never been arrested? As a matter of fact where is the proof that he has done anything? She turns to me and says, "I don't have to tell you nothing." And at this point of course I'm angry and embarrassed because most of these people I know in the community and my mom and brother are both in the store.

So I say whatever, turn and start out the door. At that time under her breath she mumbles ** a homosexual slang term. Still I go out and wait by the car and my boyfriend had a word or two to say to her and walked out as well, followed by the cashier who is yelling and screaming ** your mother who is now next in line. At this point the cops are there. After everyone talks we are informed that even with no proof he couldn't be there just because I guess, which is funny because my brother just so happened to be formally employed with this store's competitor dollar general and at that store.

Accusations like that could be a lawsuit with no proof. It was the worst experience I've ever had at any store ever. It seems that if an employee sees someone stealing an entire bag of merchandise someone would be arrested, cited, given a ticket, something and in this case there was never any of that and no one can show us even a photo, video clip from a security tape, a fingerprint or anything, just an employee who says they supposedly witnessed this and they kept their job by letting him just walk away with a bag full of stuff. The kicker to all of this is my mother and brother and I are all now banned from this store, I can say after she came outside to let me know what to do with my mother I had a few choice words for her so I'll take that but I have no idea why they would be banned especially when technically our purchases were separate and we didn't leave together, as me and my partner walked out before them.

By the way the cashier kept her job even getting a pat on the back by the manager when she arrived around the same time the cops did. This is a store I've spent a lot of money in, thousands even, for the employees to be so rude, unhelpful, mean, and disrespectful. I can't believe not myself or my partner but my mother was there to be a part of something so incredibly embarrassing. And to even know what those people or my family thought after that seed was planted... kills me because I know if I saw something like that and heard a cashier belatedly call someone a thief then see police... I would have thought that that person stole something. This will definitely replay the duration of the holidays. Thanks Family Dollar for the future conversations with co-workers, neighbors, and others throughout this small community.

I put my bag on the counter and took everything out, and told her I put my cellphone in the bag, not merchandise. She apologize several times, but the damage was done. I understand she was doing her job, but a better approach would be for her to ask if I put any merchandise in my bag, then explain why she asked, giving customer the opportunity to speak. On 12/16/2015 at approximately 8PM I entered store number 09058 during my visit to Brooklyn. There were police officers in the store, apparently one of the employees was the victim of a robbery. This same employee went around the store knocking things over and bumping into customers. The employee then approached me from behind and I couldn't see her. Instead of asking me to move, she pushed me and continued to walk past me. She then pushed another customer who was also waiting on the checkout line.

When a few customers asked to speak to a manager, the manager basically apologized and told us that "it's over, she's gone, get over it". Another woman in the store who claimed to have worked there in the recent past became upset because customers didn't like being pushed and cursed at by Family Dollar employees. This woman then approached and physically attacked one of the customers who was complaining about being shoved earlier by the other employee. The employee who claimed to be the manager intervened and then told customers to leave the store if they had a problem.

This is not the first time that I have entered this Family Dollar Store #05096 [Syracuse, New York] and been treated with a discriminatory animus. I am a 60-year-old white male who entered this store at approximately 4:50 p.m. on November 24, 2015 to make a purchase on one item (Sun Dish Det Oxy Blue Aqua, 20 FL. OZ., $1.08) (receipt no. **).

When I was coming back up the aisle I heard one of the cashiers, a male state, "Sir you can come to this line." As I arrived in the front near the checkout there were two people in the line nearest the door (female cashier) so I went to the right lane and the male cashier stated, "Sir you'll have to use the other line." So I went to the other line. Just then another person came up the aisle and the male cashier said, "I'll take you here" to the person.

As the cashiers were black, and all of the other customers were black, me being the only white guy within a mile, gets treated with what is called in legal terms, "an indifference to a deliberate discriminatory animus". Last year the same thing happened in the same store. Family Dollar called and since there has been no change in the store atmosphere. There appears to be a pattern and practice with this specific Family Dollar Store and its personnel. I would encourage Family Dollar Corporate Staff to "go to the videotape", of which every store has. This issue is a long way from just an apology.

Family Dollar sucks so bad that I quit after 2 weeks. This company has so many little rules that it is real easy to get fired over stupid stuff. Apparently there is a high theft rate with this company that they have to put security tags on everything in the store. The computer system is so outdated that customers have to take a few minutes because the system run so slow when using the credit card machine. Products that was marked down wasn't ringing up correctly at the register so customers end up leaving mad without buying anything.

Ok so this was happening yesterday at Family Dollar at Vernal Utah. Last Friday I went in the store and saw bag of Huggies diapers had a red tag and they're having 75 percent off red tag. Since they don't have those scanners where you check the price I went up to the cashiers and ask for the price and it rang up to the regular price. I said "well it has a red tag." She goes diaper doesn't include to the red tag sale. I said "well it's confusing." I went home without any purchase. I coupon there and they don't seems helpful or like me the way I coupon there.

So yesterday I went and the manager told me I can't shop at the store anymore cause I coupon fraud and they seen me on camera changing the tag of the diaper which is totally wrong. When I contacted the main office because I need to know if they have proof they said that the cashier saw me and they trust their employee. What if they wrong. So moral of the story lying employees and they just wanted to get rid of me from coupon there. Only one person sees and knows who is being honest.

I was abused by your store manager at your Tecumseh OK store when my credit card was declined. The manager was already in a complaining mood griping about how much she disliked customers that would cause her returns to the shelves. I asked the cashier if she thought my son would wear some socks I'd grabbed from girls area as they had no boys socks that was comparable. Both the cashier and your Family Dollar manager said no they didn't think my boy would wear the socks so I placed them in the return basket and began to hear all about customers that caused her returns And if they didn't have a enough money to pay then they shouldn't put the items in their baskets.

Well now I'm pretty easy going and laid back at 53 so I commented "that's retail for ya" and that's part of the job in retail thinking it would lighten the matter and just laughed it off. But for some reason my credit/debit card was declined after making my deposited as well as have overdraft protection, so I went to get a check and didn't have my book. I did have a five dollar bill. So I asked the sweet older lady cashier to take my other items off the bill. Well she had to have the manager to approve the changes and boy let me tell you what happened next was humiliating, abusive, unacceptable behavior on your manager's part. When she had to void off the items that I could not pay for, she started treating me like I was a criminal telling me that if I didn't have the money to shop don't come in her store. It was an honest mistake on my part. My income is over 5000 dollars per month and I did not cause this ruckus intentionally.

She just danced all over me with her abusive and by the time she was done with me I was telling the little sweet older lady cashier never mind about my order that I changed my mind about even spending the 5 dollars. By this time the manager was raising her voice telling me to leave her store or she would call the police and have me removed. This was said in front of customers. And I'm never to shop in her store again. Do you normally let your store managers bully and abuse and humiliate your customers, or is it still today true that the customer is always right and to be treated with respect not the way I was treated.

I wonder if the gal is on drugs of some sort or if she's naturally a disgruntled employee. Either way she works for you and I expect that you should do something productive about this. Most of the time when I have been in her store she's always treating her associates like dogs in front of customers. She has no respect for anybody. So will I go to jail if I step foot into HER store again? Please do tell...

The white couple did not have enough money to pay for a pack of cigarettes, he asked to leave to get more money from the car. The black people in line were ready to pay for their stuff when the white manager said the cash register was locked up and could not wait on anybody until he got back. This caused a uproar.

I only had some paper towels, I said "here is the money for it, you can ring it up later." The white manager said she could not do it and "you have to wait." This caused further uproar and people slam their stuff down and left the store. I also threatening to boycott the store. First off none of you people have not the slightest idea what a Family Dollar employee goes through. Those boxes that are in the way is because there's not enough PAYROLL to stock the shelves. If there is expired food it's because they don't give you even ten minutes to check food. I have the same chart and they want you to check food every Sunday but do you know what else you have to do on Sunday or any other day? There are usually 5-7 projects on the computer you have to complete. There's a 1000 piece truck that you have to put out. There's recovering the store. There's sweeping, mopping.

Oh yeah and cashing out you miserable ** called customer. You have no idea what it takes to not spit in some of your faces. You're the rude ** who cry because something is 50 cents more that what it says. Or because a price changed. Yeah it's MY fault that the price changed on your pork rinds. Picking up the messes some customers make like letting your five year old go on an adventure in a store and break things and just leave them there, putting him under shelves, spitting chew tobacco on chips, spilling soda and leaving it, opening up chips or peanuts or a juice and leaving the empty package. Not to mention stealing!

To the girl who took her work shirt off and put it in her bag: ARE YOU DUMB? Listen to what you wrote, you put a shirt in your bag. A employee is allowed to search your bag whenever she pleases. I would of waited until you got to my counter and I would of asked to look inside. If you would of said no I would of called the police. It's our responsibility to protect the company assets and if you get offended then oh well don't be shady and take off your shirt. I bet you have stolen because I don't know anyone who would of done that. Plus you said it smelt like good from your work so let's try on a brand new shirt that no one is going to want now because your smelly ** tried it on. You people have no clue. Get your ** and get out of the store.

I literally have customers that like beg for me to like give them attention. There's a huge store and I'm working on putting something away and the customer has to come within two inches from me for the one item I'm trying to stock. Stop ** about a job you wouldn't last two days at. I guarantee it. I'd bet a million dollars on it. Let me know where you work so I can criticize your every move. You should tip these employees. We work like ** slaves for pennies. Working 70 hours no overtime. Getting robbed or hurt and it gets brushes off like you stepped on a tack. When they didn't ring that way at the register the cashier went to get the manager and I asked why they were not an extra percentage off. She said they're priced as marked. So I showed her the signs.

She said she got tired of people asking what 50% off would make the items so she marked them which would have been fine had the signs been removed saying they were an additional 50% off. She was extremely rude, she told another customer everyone thinks they're better than her, telling me I didn't even know who Family Dollar Corporate was. I told her I knew Dollar Tree bought the company and she said "well go ahead and call corporate! Jesus Christ!" She did not offer to fix the issue, she did not apologize for confusion, she was hollering the whole time and she was talking about us to other customers.

I couldn't tell you this manager's name because when I asked for it (because she wasn't wearing a name tag) she told me she didn't have a name. Although it turns out her name is Bobbi **. I let the cashier and manager know that it was ringing up wrong and that it should be 50 cents plus taxes, so the manager gave me the difference back in cash. So two days later I thought they have fix it in the system but they didn't and they refuse to give me the price that was on the price tag under the item. They stated that is how the price is set up in the cash register and there is nothing they can do about it. 3.00 + 8% in taxes is 3.24 not 3.56. What they charge me and insist is the right price. So I walk into Family Dollar on Frankford Ave. Store #03364, 7310, Frankford Ave. I have been shopping here for over 8 yrs. I go in, grab a PJ outfit for my son, then go to the women's section, grab a pair of sweatpants and then I see a cute sweater so I take off my work T-shirt that smells like food (I have a tank underneath) & I try it on. Fits good so I take it off, put it back on hanger and then fold MY work shirt and put it in my tote bag I had sitting on the floor. So the manager walks by & starts looking in my bag, she doesn't touch anything, just keeps looking and I asked her to please stop because it's rude to look into my bag and she said it's rude for me to sit my bag on the floor for people to look into it!!! What??? I said, "Please tell me how that is rude???" So she goes on to say, "What do you have in there, a shirt?" I said, "Yes, my work shirt." And she says, "Well, you are trying on clothes with a bag on the floor so I need to look."

Umm no, you don't. So she was arguing with me about how I am rude for sitting my bag on the floor. Which makes absolutely no sense. Then I yelled for her to just leave me alone. I asked if she was a manager and she said, "Yes," and I said, "I cannot believe you are acting like this and treating me like this and you are a manager." And she got angry over that and told me that she was not letting me buy my stuff. Which she did not let me. Then she said I was trash for arguing in front of kids that were in the store. Which I'm sorry but she was the one arguing with me. She told me if I'm so mad then I must have a guilty conscience. I don't steal, I never stole and I was completely offended. All of this because I asked her to stop looking into my personal belongings when I gave absolutely no reason for any accusations.

So then I go to walk out because she wasn't letting any of the cashiers ring me out so why stay and she goes on to say I'm trash again and my mom is a fat **. Mind you, my mother wasn't with me and she doesn't know my mother or she would know she is the farthest thing from that. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!!! This is the first and only time I ever had a problem with anyone from this store as I've been going here for 8+yrs.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to get this manager to have some kind of consequences. Because now I'm not able to shop there because I'm sure she will not let me buy anything. She is a new manager there also. I've only seen her for maybe 4 months at the most. I go to this sore multiple times a week and I would like to continue to but not if she is there. I am 29 yrs old and I never have been treated that way ever in any store or have seen anyone treated that way. Please suggest anything on what I can do further. Thank you!!

One of the workers comes over and starts yelling at my kids that they needed to stop touching stuff and said that they were gonna have to pay for something that was already open. I have worked in retail for over 10 yrs and I know that we like to keep a clean store but I have never allowed anybody I've ever worked with to make a customer uncomfortable shopping. This women was very rude and wanted to stand there and argue with me until I told her I was going to make a complaint. I was so upset I cannot even remember her name.

I think that's just something we have to put up with being in retail. Having to put up with customers putting stuff where it doesn't go and kids running around but not to take it to the extent of yelling at every child that comes through the doors just cause it's gonna make it easier for me to go home at night. So that's that and I hope something gets done cause I will not tolerate being supervised with my children while I am in the store. I will keep complaining until something gets done. Thanks.

We had been experiencing a lot of shoplifting recently to where people would just casually walk out with merchandise. On one day, I happened to be at the front of the store and was faced with a shoplifter holding two laundry basket full of unpaid merchandise. Add a reflex, l grabbed one and recovered some of the items. This is a policy violation so I chose not to tell my dm. All was fine until I had to write up one of the asm's for attendance. It was a recommendation for termination. He was upset about it.

Soon after this, I was approached by the dm who asked about the incident with the shoplifter. I admitted my mistake. She then told me to back off the Asm as if all was going to be ok. I did bring to her attention that he had also committed the same violation. Even worst, he went off property to retrieve the merchandise. I gave her all the info in the form of pictures showing the time and date. About a week after, I got a visit from her and asm, and was terminated. As of today, the asm is still working at the store. There seems to be some kind of favoritism with some of the employees. There is even a coworker that was missing about $80 and is still there.

Once he was transferred to a new store I was left to run the store and take ownership of the store until they either, one, made me the store manager or two, send an experienced store manager. I went over a month working almost about everyday open to close with no store manager training the cashiers how to unload the truck, how to use the PDT gun, how to quickly do door to shelf.

Everything was running smoothly and I was still getting paid as an assistant manager only 10.00/hr. Truck was done on time, employees were happy still as a family then last Thursday they send in a store manager with no experience - doesn't know how to declare when needed, doesn't know how to use a PDT gun, doesn't even know how to make a schedule and told me I have to train her. 1, that is not in my description. Two, if she was hired to be the store manager she was supposed to get train for all this. Was very Rude as soon as she came in - didn't even introduced herself to the team. Now the store I worked in Tampa fl #8833 is one of the most cleanest store and she was negative saying it was nasty. Now I have been in the store she worked in when she was just a cashier and that store is nasty.

She changed the schedule without letting anyone know that was not there so on my day off she calls me on my personal phone yelling at me about why someone didn't show. Then she does not help anyone in the store work on truck. She stays on her phone using profanity words making customers very uncomfortable to shop. I had numerous complaints by customers of this. She also wanted me to go against policy on numerous occasions which I refuse to do making the store and everyone who works there very uncomfortable.

I put in my two weeks' notice last night and as soon as I walked into work an open to close shift just to get the truck done she fires me and exactly the words that came out her mouth was, "I am ** firing you because you put in your two weeks' notice." Before she came in it was a good place to work - very warming. Now I do not recommend no one to work there or even shop there. I care too much about the employees and the customers to be treated in such away. I really do hope she gets the proper training and changes her negative attention before the store goes under. Once she learns policy and communication skills and customer services skills just maybe the store will be a good place to shop and work. Till then good luck everyone. I wish you the best.

Been employed with Family Dollar since August 2014. I am a middle aged white woman. I have worked in healthcare for 30+ yrs with management experience. My first year in retail as asst. manager. I honestly believe I had chosen the worst company in the history to mankind. To start there is no Heat in winter, our store is surrounded by mountains and with -19. Some mornings store would only get to maybe 60 in the afternoons. As night fell temps would start falling again. The explanation was a follows, "corporate office control thermostats and manager instructs you to turn on lights as soon as you come in because they generate heat too." I developed pneumonia and off 9 days no pay and extensive and expensive health care bills. Another employee tells me to wait till summer - it's even worst, no air condition either.

Well, It's summer in Virginia and they were right. When customers would ask "why is it so hot is the air condition working?" We were to say yes even though thermostats were set at 72. And if they would like to buy a cold drink. In the past I always wondered about inhumane working conditions in China and sadly do not wonder anymore, because I have now had the misfortunate experience in the United States working for Family Dollar. I was let go from my job and it really is a blessing, for reasons like new manager comes in has problems with the way the company is run but wants to blame the team. I have had management experience so I know how things work.

My customers told me that people come and go like our seasons here in Virginia. I will assure you will let family and friends know, even though my family knows how the company treats their employees. I will be contacting Better Business Bureau as well as a local agency for further assistance in this matter. Do not shop at Family Dollar.

This store is located in Miami Florida on 41st and 2nd ave. Customers actually leave the store and go to another one due to the fact of the poor environment and the rude employees. The lines build up quick and nobody can guess when the flood gates will open. There is always a cashier ready & when the line gets long, they always ring the bell to request backup. The other cashier is always stocking or running errands, helping other customers. Backup always arrives, as fast as possible. Any real hold up is due to a customer that can't figure out how to swipe their debit card or are arguing why they can't use food stamps to buy cigarettes.

The cashiers want to keep the line moving too. If everyone is prepared to pay and not busy complaining, we can all get on with our day. When I have a lot more items than the person behind me, I always let them in front of me. Not one time has a fellow customer thanked me. A cashier usually smiles & nods to show appreciation, but nothing from that person I just helped. Just think how stressed we get at our jobs. I couldn't get on the bus with this, so I decided to stop in the Family Dollar to get a plastic bag so that I could put the leaking bag into it and prevent spreading grease all over the bus seats. I asked the cashier for a bag and offered to pay a dollar for it, but instead she forced me to buy something first. So I bought a pack of Skittles for $1, after which she gave me a bag.

I complained to her about her making me jump through a hoop just to get a freakin bag, after which she responded that it was company policy. Well, as it turns out, people don't normally walk around with a spare plastic bag in their back pockets, and when someone goes into a store to try and get one, it makes little sense to create such a circuitous route for someone to obtain such a priceless item. Maybe it's not that people should be carrying spare bags around in their back pockets for life's little emergencies, but that people shouldn't have to put up with absurd and ridiculous policies from corporations that don't have logical expectations.

Friday, April 10th 2015 "The worst day of my life." At approximately 7:31 AM I completed the pre-trip inspection on my semi and semi trailer and headed to the first of four stops I had to unload at on my run for the day. I completed unloading at the first two stops of the day and was headed to my third stop to unload. Needless to say I was on my way to hell and didn't know it. I am white and this store was located in a predominantly black neighborhood (I am far from racist, my step dad is black and I have more black siblings that I talk to than white siblings). I work for a trucking company called Werner Enterprises and deliver freight for family dollar out of the Front Royal, Virginia distribution center.

I try to represent both Family Dollar and Werner enterprises along as myself as professionally to the best of my ability. So my third stop was in Tarboro, North Carolina at store#00070. I arrived at approximately 3:12 pm. Once I backed up as close to the door as I can so I could stretch the store's rollers to the back of my trailer I called the store and said "this is ** with Werner Enterprises calling to let you guys know that I am backed up to the door and ready to unload you guys merchandise". The store associate then says "oh ok, corporate called and said you wouldn't be here till 5 pm and I'm waiting for my manager to get back then we will be back there."

I said "no ma'am I'm here, backed up to the door and ready to unload you guys merchandise when you are" then we hung up. I then headed to the back of my trailer to set up the rollers inside of my truck to be able to start unloading once they opened the door and pulled the rollers out of the store. I removed the lock and seal and proceeded into the back of the trailer. About 5 minutes later the manager and store associate (both black) opened the door and pulled the rollers out. I said "how are you guys doing" and didn't get a reply, just ignored so I blew it off and proceeded to do my job which is to unload the trailer as fast as I can.

About 10 minutes after starting to unload a couple boxes fall off the rollers due to a smaller box getting stuck in between the rollers. So I hop off the trailer and said "sorry guys, you don't have to worry about the boxes falling off the rollers because I will pick them up once I get everything for this stop out of the trailer." Once again I didn't get a reply just a snotty look from the manager. So I climbed back into the trailer and started unloading more boxes and I didn't notice that the boxes were getting stacked up on the rollers because they're not unloading them as fast as I'm putting boxes on the rollers and I'm about 35 feet inside of the trailer and about 50 feet away from where they're inside the store taking the boxes off the rollers, so I slowed down but didn't stop to give them time to catch up.

At about that time the manager stuck her head from behind the door and yelled so I could hear her "can you wait a ** minute white boy, all the pressure from the boxes on the rollers are making it hard for us to get the boxes off the rollers." I said "yes ma'am." I then proceeded to the end of the trailer and hopped off the back and grabbed a bunch of boxes and pushed them up relieving the pressure off of the rest of the boxes to let them catch up. Once they got caught up I let the rest of the boxes I pushed up go down the rollers slowly to the store manager and associate.

At that time I got to a wall of boxes stacked from the floor to the ceiling of what is called re-packs so I grabbed one and it rolled down to them (at this point they were waiting for boxes because they have caught up to me). The manager then says "we take ** re-packs last white boy" and threw the box off the rollers to the back of the trailer. I said "ok, sorry ma'am, I didn't know." At that time I hop off the trailer and go into my truck and send a message to dispatch via Qualcomm stating "I have about had it with this rude ** manager and her store associate talking to me like I'm a piece of **, one more comment out of this manager's mouth, I'm packing everything up and heading back to the distribution center."

I then received a message saying "10-4" from my dispatcher. So I proceeded to the trailer to try to finish what I started. So now I'm at wall of re-packs and the manager said she wanted them last so I'm setting them aside and sending little boxes they use to push the re-packs together or to the ceiling so they don't fall and at that time the managers makes sure she says it loud enough so I can hear her 50+ feet away and over the ruckus of the small boxes going down the rollers and me setting boxes aside. "I hate lazy white truckers" so I said "excuse me ma'am I didn't hear what you said." So she then stuck her head out the door and yelled and said it slowly "I said I hate lazy white truckers" so I said "how am I lazy ma'am?"

She then said "look I only have one box down here" so I said "you asked me to send the re-packs down last so I'm setting them aside and sending down what I come across". Then the managers looks at her store associate and makes sure she said it loud enough to where I can hear her and said "I ** hate white people" and then the store associate agrees with her. So at that point I walk to the truck and grab a quick sip of my drink and a cigarette and walk back to the trailer and as I'm climbing in the trailer the manager makes another comment saying "I hate lazy white ignorant people" so I pretended not to hear the comments as I have been and just try to hurry up and get out of the gates of hell.

No sooner as I send the first two boxes down the rollers I get a phone call from my dispatcher, so I stop, take my gloves off and answer the phone call, at this point all of the comments and statements made towards are taking a toll on me. I'm now shaking and starting to tear up because I've never been hated so much, disrespected and fearful for my life being in a predominantly black neighborhood and with all the stuff with the wrongful doings of white cops to the black people in South Carolina and other places of the world.

So as I answer the phone the dispatcher is asking me what's going on and as I tell him the manager says "snitches get stitches and end up in ditches white boy." I then proceeded to tell the manager that I'm being disrespected, made fun of due to my race and their throwing racial slurs in my face. The dispatcher then tells me to take a deep breath and keep unloading and I tell him "sir that's what I have been doing." I then tell him again that if I keep getting disrespected I'm going to pack all of the stuff up and head back to the DC and before he could say anything else. I said "thank you and have a wonderful day."

Then as soon as I get off the phone with my dispatcher the manager once again says it loud enough that I can hear her from inside of my trailer where I am now approximately 50 to 60 feet away from them "I hate snitches, ** white people I hate them," so at that point I had have enough I was then torn emotionally and physically for someone showing me so much hate for doing my job and being so polite and holding my composure and threatening my life.

So I started packing up my rollers and installing my load lock to make sure my freight doesn't fall and break the manager then sticks her head from behind the door and says "where you going white boy" so I said in tears "I'm going back to the distribution center" and she said "you can't leave with my merchandise." So I said "yes ma'am I can I'm taking all the stuff back where it came from." She then said ** white boy." I then said "ma'am nowhere in my job description does it say to expect to be treated the way you guys are treating me nor does it state that I will have racial slurs used against me and have my life threatened."

I then closed the trailer put a Werner Enterprises seal on the trailer along with my pad lock to secure the freight from theft. I then asked the associate that was standing there for my paperwork and she handed it to me and I left before the manager could say anything else or could call anyone that could harm me or my life. As Leaving the store the dispatcher calls me and tells me that I can't leave with their freight. I then tell him in tears "that I am on my way back to the distribution center and that I have never been so disrespected in my life and that I didn't sign up for this." As the conversation went on about what happened he then tried to bribe me to go back to the unsafe work environment with 100 dollars and I told him "no, I will not be returning to that store nor that city ever again in my life again."

He then raised his bribe to 150 dollars to return to the unsafe work environment and at that time I told him "sir there isn't enough vodka in Russia to get me drunk enough to return to that store, let alone that city." So he then repeated himself along with the bribe for 150 dollars and I told him "sir someone could offer me a million dollars and I wouldn't return to that store due to the way I was treated and talked down to due to the color of my skin along with the racial slurs made towards me and the threat made against my life". And then I hung up.

I am 21 years old and I'm going to be 22 in August. I would like to see my 22nd birthday. My step dad is black and I have more black family than I do white family (uncles, aunts, cousins, nephew, nieces, and so forth) and I probably have more black friends than I do white friends and I was raised better than to be racist. This day and the people I encountered on this day have scarred me for life, physically and emotionally. I was the only white guy I had seen for miles in a predominately black neighborhood and feared for my life, the manager could of felt like she was going to lose her job and called people and had them after me, no one knows what could happen with this racial war that's going on in the United states and being at the back door of what happened to the black male getting shot in the back by a white cop for no justifiable reason.

I felt that if someone like a manager who is supposed to be professional, felt that way about white people I couldn't even imagine how the people in that surrounding area felt about white people. Needless to say, I will never, never, ever return to Tarboro, North Carolina because of what happened on this day. And I advise people to avoid this store and avoid the manager. Thank you for taking the time to read what happened to me on the worst day of my life.

They really do keep things behind the counter and hope you don't notice. Today I had the rudest customer service experience of my life- the cashier charged me for things I didn't buy, and then made fun of me with the customer behind me because I was taking too long trying to find out why my total was so high. And it was because SHE charged me for extra items. When I pointed that out, she didn't even have the decency to apologize, just mumbled something under her breath. I wrote a letter, and got a response, just an apology, with the comment that I should have told the manager, instead of writing corporate. Other companies will be nice enough to send out coupons. I live in Worth and every time I shop at the store located at 6720 W,111 St. Worth IL 60482. I visited the stores this evening, March 29, 2015 at approximately 6.30 pm. I was unable to get through the store because of the many boxes of stock blocking the aisles. A disabled person could never navigate the store. One of the employees was straightening out the stock in an aisle I was trying to get through. There was an old display blocking the end of the aisle. I waited for the employee working in the aisle to move the display, however, I had to move it myself. I tried to go down another aisle but a big box was in the way.

I finally got discouraged and left the store due to its condition without making a purchase.store. This seems to be the norm at this store. I like to support my community and shop locally. I do understand that the shelves need to be restock, but do boxes have to be in every aisle blocking the merchandise? Can this situation be resolved? Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

At that time the girl didn't even ask me. She called police after I left and went another store then a nasty officer snuck up behind while I had my baby with me and tried to arrest me for nothing when I had nothing but what I paid for. I have black children. I am white. I get nastiest treatment from others due to this.

There is a new girl. Now she knows my husband from the past neighborhood when he was coming up at. She always makes comment to me when come in and out. She walk pass looking at me like I'm no matter. She lets people come in with nothing and leaves out with bookbag full of things. She disrespected the white lady that works there. Tried to blame her but not true. I know you all have store policy to leave bags at front but when I have no bags just a few loose items in my stroller I have never had anyone check my stroller or receipt. Never no problem. Only now with new girl **. She does not ring up all of people's items they are buying.

I have been there buying things. She rang up my stuff. I ask did she rang up other stuff. She said yes but few days later. I'm over looking my receipt and see she didn't ring up at least 2 things and that is just one occasion. There has been more about 5 times on my end. She is not the right employee for the job. She looks angry all the time. She does not welcome customers with respect or anything of how you treat your customers. I am also pregnant 7 wks. My husband went to the Family Dollar next day to buy something when she told him she was going to beat the mess out of me. He told her not to mess with me. That I'm pregnant. To leave things alone.

Well next morning comes. My little puppy outside hooked to a chain that she couldn't get out of herself was unhooked from her neck and she was gone. Thank god someone seen. Then my husband went to find her for me which he did. I am so tired of being treated like this. It is not fair at all. I do not treat people any kind of way. I help people up not drag them down. Store #07605. This is my neighborhood store. On the day of 02/08/2015, I walked into this store for something so simple. We had just come in from a neighboring city a 30 minute drive. My husband is a heart patient. Part of his medication regiment, includes a water pills. So as you can imagine he frequently needs a bathroom break. As I was shopping he decided to go in and ask for restroom, and he was denied access to the restroom, with the excuse that restroom was out of order. He proceeded to put the items down and had to fast walk to the restroom two buildings away to use their facility.

For the record we seldom visit that restaurant. My whole family lives in this neighborhood and are often in this store shopping to avoid Walmart's line, even though it would hurt our pockets less if we would go to Walmart. I am in that store at least three times a week. You would think my business would be valuable to them. On that particular day my brother was riding with us. He loudly voiced his opinion on the subject, enough that the cashiers would hear. How often he found himself in the same situation and had been told the same thing.

For a period of six months he mention the facility was out of service. What is your policy on the public using the toilet? I was so upset that the manager looked at him like, "your problem is not my concern." My first thoughts were, I will never step foot in this building, an my money and my family's money will go with me to anywhere else.... but I composed my mental reaction and thought this should not happen to any other person. I cringe at the thought of an IBS patient needing the bathroom.

Me and my son went inside Family Dollar to purchase a few things. After getting our supplies, a young man started to follow me as I approached the atm. This man had a generic red shirt. I did not feel comfortable getting any money. So, I then proceeded to the checkout line. He followed me to the line as well. As I approached the register, he whispered for me and my son to come to the side. I politely said we were good. He then said “I don’t need you but him.” I then told him “I don’t know you.” That’s when he said “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” I then said “Who are you to ask for my son to go with you? I don’t know you.” That’s when he said “I believe he put something in his pocket.” I said “Yes, his phone.” It was at this point I realized the young man actually worked for Family Dollar. He claimed he did not see my son do anything, but heard me tell my son to put something in his pocket.

We emptied my son’s pockets then he said, “No inside his pants.” I said “What would you have do, pull his pants down.” The young man replied yes. I then refused. This is about the time the manager came out. I questioned the man and stated to the manager that I did not know this person worked for Family Dollar. She immediately stated “I don’t see how he has a red shirt.” He was a generic red shirt. He had no ID badge or Family Dollar symbol. There were three other employees working at the time. Each of the employees had a Family Dollar pin or logo on the shirt visible for everyone to see.

It was then that I stated the way he approached me I thought he may have been trying to sell me drugs. However when I realized he was an employee, I realized this was not the case. Then manager then got defensive and said “I will not stand here and allow you to accuse one of my employees of anything.” I said “I am not accusing him of anything.” I said at the time that is what it appeared to me. That is when I said “So it’s ok for your employees to accuse customers falsely though.” She then stated that it is company policy for her employees to detain and search anyone they feel may have stolen from the store.

I then said he can accuse anyone, and give any reason however unjust. Even when he said he didn't see us take anything. But only thinks he heard me tell my son to out something in his pocket. I then said I also asked my son if he had his slides (arch support pads) on and if they fit good. To imply to my son if he needed more that we better buy them now. Especially since he is about to try out for track. That’s when he said “We will call the police.” So I said “Fine, better yet I will call the police for you.” So that is what I did.

At that point we went back and forth. There was some tension, however no yelling or raising of voices on either side. After further denying stealing anything, and stating what I thought at the time the young man pulled me to the side. The manager got upset and requested me to leave the store. I then said “No, you have wrongfully accused me of stealing. The cops are on the way I will not leave for you to said I left the store.” That’s when she said can. Then move to the front of the store. I said yes.

The young man then proceeded to touch my son. I then told him to back away from my son. I would not let him touch my son or get close enough to put anything in my son’s pockets. They appeared to get more frustrated then. When I went to the front, but the manager and the employee went to back of the store. I then started talking to one of the other employees there. She told that earlier, there was an instance where a teenager stole Skittles from them, and went outside to a gang of friends and laughed. So tensions were already high and they had to look out for the interest of the store.

I then asked the employee to get the manager so I could be the better man and apologize for making a scene of which they caused. She even got argumentative then saying he was her employee and that he had the right. If it was a mistake she still needed to run her store. And I was wrong for getting upset at being accused of stealing. I should have quietly accepted going to the back, and not got make a scene. Really did not accept my apology, or even offer one of her own for their mistake. She completely sided with her employee even though he admitted he saw nothing. Only based on a partial conversation where he heard the word POCKET. His sole and only reason for accusing me and my son of stealing.

She then went back to the back of the store with the male employee. The cop arrived later and then asked questions and even frisked. He found nothing and let us go. He asked me if I were going to continue shopping, I said yes, I didn't feel like going anywhere else. I was tired just finished a group 3 mile hill run, and just wanted to go home. The manager and the employee never came back up to the front to apologize for their mistake. They even refused to give their names. I told my dad what happened when I got home. So he went to the store and asked for their names and they refused him as well. The manager did give corporate's number.

I have never in my life been treated so unfair. I started out as a cashier and after a couple weeks had been offered assistant manager. I was told that my pay would start out at 8 dollars and after frequent reviews I would make more. Not once did I receive a review or raise. I was also promised more daytime hours being assistant manager. That didn't happen. I was closing 4-5 nights a week. Our manager would continuously complain to the other employees about the way I would do things but never said anything to me.

Also the things she complained about were also little piddly mistakes she made herself. When we were in need of another cashier a guy had come in to check on his application so I sent him to talk to our store manager. I later asked her if he was a possible candidate and her response still shocks me, "I can't hire a black man, you know I would never hear the end of it if I did." Now I may not know everything but I believe that is discrimination!! She also said nobody would be getting yearly raises due to inventory being messed up. Then later makes the comment to the other assistant manager that only herself and that assistant manager would be.

I had been sick one day and she refused to come in and cover my shift so another employee could go take her final exams. That employee ended up staying longer until I could stop throwing up long enough to go in. Then I stayed until she was finished with the exams and she returned so I didn't have to stay there sick. I could go on forever about how bad she treats her employees.

Here's a couple examples on how customers are getting treated. Manager hardly ever smiles, doesn't respond to them talking to her, rarely says hello or have a nice day. Unfortunately she has a name by numerous customers that isn't a very nice one, and after what I witnessed, I can't blame them. I truly hope that this review is taken seriously. Nobody needs to be treated this way. I loved working there and making people smile every day. I recently turned in my keys due to no matter how much I tried to please my manager she would continue to treat me like crap.

Only when i look for stuff to use i see they did not give me a bag or two. Then you call. They say, "Where's receipt?" I don't always keep, have so many at end day. I told them it was two days ago...look on your camera -- it will show me there standing hour to pay for my stuff. But i guess don't want to see who is stealing, giving your bags to someone else. Well lost me as customer. Steal from someone else. Done with me spending up to 500 month cash stamps by Family Dollars, Warren, Mich, 9 Van Dyke. Watch your bags, buyers that buy a lot.

A good portion of whether or not a Family Dollar store is a good or bad place to work depends on the store manager. I've worked in two locations and in one, the manager was amazing, and the other, they were horrible. But even with an amazing store manager who makes working there bearable, Family Dollar is generally a horrible place to work. Here is why: they don't care. Family Dollar doesn't care at all for their employees. They care about making money and not getting sued. One complaint that could be cause for a lawsuit results in employee termination even if the complaint is true or not. When the big-wigs come in to the store, they put pressure on the manager for everything that is not done, and with all but the exceptional managers, this trickles down to the staff. It is 90% negative response about what is not getting done, what needs to improve, and a lot of it is shrink numbers and sales. We are numbers, not people.

Employees all have customer numbers, and even getting a hold of HR is a 2-hour-long-on-hold hell. Raises are not determined by how well you work, but by inventory numbers. If you happen to work in a store that suffers from a lot of the theft (and some stores are in bad areas that suffer more than others), then good luck ever getting a raise. Theft at Family Dollar, even with their detectors on the door is exceptionally easy, and so very high. Basing raises not on how hard or well employees work, how dependable they are, how great they are with customers, but instead on a number that is hard for them to control is terrible. I understand the importance of Loss Prevention, but with just two at most (often just one) employee in the store at any given time, it is downright IMPOSSIBLE to follow around everyone in the store to make sure they aren't stealing.

I was an assistant manager and as such, when I opened the store, I would work from open (8am or earlier) until 4 or 5 in the afternoon all by myself. It is impossible to take bathroom breaks, you just have to hold it. Being a woman, and on my period, I would have to use the bathroom just before opening the store, use a Super Plus tampon and an overnight pad both and by the time my shift would end, let's just say it wasn't pretty and it was damn embarrassing. On top of that, while by yourself for 8 or more hours, you have to run the register and put out freight, which because of not being able to have more than one U-boat on the floor per person required trips to the stockroom to get new ones left customers waiting (and left the store unattended). Not to mention that not getting enough freight done usually results in getting yelled at by management (and being busy with customers is not a valid excuse).

Family Dollar puts way too much work on way too few people. I even had to unload the truck on delivery day entirely by myself on more than one occasion, and the location I worked at sold so much cleaning products that easily 50% of the truck is large boxes of Tide or Gain that weigh upwards of 50-75 lbs and fill 3-4 u-U-boats. It is always rush rush rush to get it done, and safety is completely ignored with U-boats stacked way over the height they should be, but this cannot be avoided because there aren't enough U-boats or room in the stockroom for more. Employees don't get breaks. The few employees who choose to complain can sometimes get their required 15 minutes but more often than not, instead get their hours cut so they never work long enough shifts to get breaks. The assumption is that there is enough downtime, breaks aren't required, but this isn't true. There is always stuff to be doing.

Schedules are crazy and hectic, change every week, and getting days off is almost impossible. I earned over two weeks vacation time but was never able to use it because every time I tried to get a vacation, it was too busy because of one holiday or another, or packing up seasonal stuff or resets or what not. Two years and I never got a vacation, and then lost my vacation time because I didn't complete a two-week notice. Bonuses are a joke. You get one $45 gift card you can only use at Family Dollar as a Christmas bonus. That is cheap and ridiculous.

Family Dollar is an awful place to work because the employees are treated like garbage. Turnover is unbelievably high for all positions below store manager, and a lot of managers get away with taking advantage of their authority to ensure they get the best hours, all the time off they want, avoid doing the truck or working weekends, avoid busy vendor days, and then come in refreshed on Monday and yell at their employees for not getting enough done. I hope that now that Family Dollar is owned by Dollar Tree, Dollar Tree will make some changes in how things are run, but I doubt it.

This concerns Store #00870 in Gadsden AL. As many spurned consumers on this website have said, it hurts so much more to be treated badly in a store of which you are a 'regular', and that's exactly what happened to me.

I've been shopping at the Family Dollar down the street for many years and have received fantastic care from most of the cashiers. I'm very fond of them. But they've got a fairly new employee working in the morning who I try to avoid when I can. Actually, she tries to avoid us customers, by spending most of her time walking around the back of the store chatting on the store's main phone--you'd think it was super-glued to her hand and ear.

Anyhow, the other employees always love when I come in, because I bring them quarters, which they always are short of. I have a vending machine business, so I'm always drowning in them, especially when the CoinStar machine is on the blink at the local Wal-Mart, and I have no relations with any bank to cash them in. So when I shop there, they always say 'oh good, I just ran out of quarters' or 'hope you got quarters for me!'.

Well, today I had just quarters again when I went to buy some pet food and snacks. I got to the register and began making stacks of 4 quarters each, very quickly as I do it so often. She immediately got angry and told me I needed to roll them. This might've been understandable, except for the fact that I was buying less than $10 worth of stuff, and most people know that they don't make coin rolls for less than that. I told her this, but she insisted I needed to roll them anyway.

She's still on the phone this whole time, so she says to her phone friend, in a really angry and snotty-like way: "I'm gonna have to call you back, cause this is gonna take like 5 minutes." She goes on to say that she won't take more than $5 dollars worth, and that if I come in here again with 5 or 6 bucks worth of quarters, they needed to be rolled. You see where logic is failing here, cause this is not possible. I asked her what she wanted me to roll them with, but she never answered. How could she, there is no answer, since neither 5 nor 6 dollar rolls exist. I decided I was not going to be pressured into putting back anything, as long as it didn't go over $10--and it didn't. It came out to $9.70, and with a terrible attitude she took the quarters.

The funny thing about it is that the whole thing took only 10 seconds or so longer than if I had used a debit card. And it would've taken less if she hadn't stopped everything to yell at me. I had the quarters in 9 individual, easy-to-identify, dollar stacks before she was even done scanning the items--she then counted to 9, slid them off the counter into her hand--that took 3 swipes--and then she dropped them into the register. She could have stacked and counted 30 bucks worth of quarters all by herself, and it would still be quicker than someone paying with a check--which they accept without complaint.

To add insult to insult, she took my money and didn't even give me my change back! 5 cents is hardly a lot, but it's too much for a cashier to be presumptuous and say, "Who cares, it doesn't matter," like they'll do with a penny. I asked to be given my change, and she grew more irritated that she had to open the register and fish a nickel out of it. I felt like a dirty begging peasant trying to gather up the coins being pelted at her by the disgusted businessmen who pass by! I was really embarrassed.

I'm sure this sounds like a very mild encounter, but so often in life, how you say something can be more important than what you say. And that's the deal here. She was just so very rude, treating me like I was forcing mountains of nasty change on her.

It's just plain wrong for cashiers to pretend that something that annoys them is against store policy. Yes, it's annoying when people pay in change, but that's part of the job. You deal with the customers, even the slow irritating ones, and then you go home to your spouse or call a friend and rant about the annoying things customers always do, and then you feel better. You don't act like a jerk and tell the customer they are breaking a store rule that doesn't exist.

That's about all I wanted to say. Thanks for supplying a platform for us disenchanted customers. :-)

Family Dollar #1829, 5900 Reistertown Rd: Upon entering this store, on Sunday, January 11, 2016 at approximately 10:15am; I was the only customer in the store, I began coughing. As a healthcare employee it is ingrained into the faculty/ staff the importance of covering your cough. The manager walked across the aisle to a nearby aisle where her employee an older African American gentleman was stocking shelves. The stocker said to the manager "she came into the store with that, and she didn't even cover her mouth." The manager laughed and made a remark.

When I approached the aisle I said to the stocker, "I did cover my mouth." As the stocker began to debate with me about covering my mouth, the manager walked away. I stated to the stocker that you either speak directly to the person you're talking about, or be more discreet as to not to be heard. The stocker then replied, "I spoke loud enough for you to hear me."

I am appalled at the situation, and furious that the manager never intervened to emphasize good customer service from her employee. It is unequivocally unacceptable to allow such behavior. I urge that this issue be addressed immediately. At Johns Hopkins customer service is our number one goal. Do you just not care about how your stores are managed? Do you just not care how your customers are treated?

Society has had enough of discourteous, untrained people. I would like to continue to shop near my home with a satisfying experience from the stores I elect to patronize. Just look at the numerous complaints from people. Family dollar really needs to get involved with these stores and start hiring qualified, trained managers - people who have been taught that customer service is their job, and if they can't do their job, then seek other employment.

The time is now 21:57, and the family dollar store 5496 one block away from my house is supposed to be open until 22:00. My husband just walked over there to get some fever reducing medicine for my sick child (4 years old) who is running a very high fever of 103, diapers (a necessity for my 1 year old) and toilet paper (no need to explain that one) and ran into an employee outside this store between 21:30 and 21:45 who stated to him that they were already closed. When he mentioned their closing time, she simply stated that they were running on 'holiday hours' which wasn't posted anywhere for him to visually verify. She was extremely rude and dismissive, especially for someone in a 'customer service' position.

My husband in turn walked home empty handed, and explained the situation to me. It was now 21:49 and I decided to call the store as from my house I could still see the employee cars (and the one employee outside) in the Family Dollar parking lot (I would assume of course even though they decided to close early they were going to make sure they clocked out and got their hours as thought they were actually working and providing paying customers some kind of service). I called and after about 6 rings a female answered the phone. I asked what their store number was, to which she sounded confused and asked what I meant. I repeated, what is your store number for that location? She stuttered, but finally said 5496, at which point I simply stated, "And you all are already closed, correct?" After a moment of silence she stated, "Yeah, but, uh, my registers went down some while ago and uh I'm waiting on a call back to see what to do." I simply said, "Ok, thank you." and I hung up.

Now, my husband and I both have worked retail multiple times before, he has been a manager and I worked loss prevention, so I am well aware that if it is a slow night, the staff wants to sometimes count everything and close early, but that is not right, and that's why no one in their right mind actually does this. They turned away paying customers, and in our case, I had to loan my vehicle to my mother tonight for her to go to her evening job as her car is in the shop, so we do not have the option to walk or go anywhere else because we were turned away from your Family Dollar store in our time of need. Right now, my husband is on the phone with anyone and everyone we can reach, trying to figure out if there is someone who can take him and my son to the emergency room mas that is closer than any other open store in our area and my son's fever is already very high.

I am appalled that I am now even in this situation, and I am furious that it is all because the store personnel in your store decided to close early tonight. I am now possibly facing very serious consequences because of this. It is not right and it absolutely isn't fair. In our working retail, we know first hand that when the registers do go down, as an employee you immediately tell customers that you can't help them because the registers are down, because they understand your hands are tied and until they are back up there is nothing you can do about this.

So my point is, the registers obviously were not down, or the person smoking outside the entrance would have immediately brought that up to my husband, instead of coming up with a flat out LIE about holiday hours and closing early due to that. She LIED to his FACE. Is that the level of integrity that you expect from your employees? I hold my own children to higher standards than that, and the oldest is only 6. I do not appreciate being lied to, having people take advantage of the position they are in, and I despise them now putting my son in a possibly life threatening situation as a fever of 103 is very high and once you get to 104-105 it is recommended to seek medical help, which I now have to do as thanks to your Family Dollar employees, I was not able to get him fever reducing medication to help him and now have to subject him to a hospital's poking and prodding and scaring him as he is only 4 years old.

I wanted to let you all know this because since I moved here in September, I have visited your store multiple times a week, and with this past holiday season, I did most of my shopping for gifts and holiday essentials at this store. I am talking hundreds of dollars in the last month alone due to the holiday, and this? This is how I am rewarded for being a loyal customer. Well I can tell you right now, that I am no longer a Family Dollar customer, and I will be telling EVERYONE I see about my issue (and other issues I have observed while I was shopping there, but turned a blind eye to)... As I stated earlier, once you work loss prevention for retail, you notice things most people don't notice, and you notice them everywhere you go whether you want to or not, I will take this to every social media outlet I can think of, and I am going to search your corporate personnel's email addresses and I will be sending them a copy of this exact email.

I do hope that you all will address this issue and do so in an appropriately timed manner, as I do apologize for ranting on here for so long but this is extremely frustrating and infuriating and I hope you can put yourself in our shoes. It is embarrassing to admit, but we had to wait till the last minute to buy life essentials like diapers and toilet paper because we both work, but we live paycheck to paycheck, and my husband makes $50 a delivering appliances on a truck now, so we had to wait for him to work today while praying to God that he would make enough tips that we would be able to get toilet paper and diapers. You can imagine my relief when he was dropped off and he said he made enough to pick our needs up, I mentioned the baby's medicine and he said he could squeeze that in too and that he was going to walk right over to Family Dollar right away to get everything so we would be ok.

Then all of this ensued and it was like pouring salt on a wide open wound and being kicked while you are down and just trying to survive by a company that you have trusted and bought from for so long (I have shopped at Family Dollar for years, since I lived back in Virginia, but at this store only since September). Anyway, it is now 22:30 and I realize that I have been typing furiously to you for at least half an hour so I will stop typing now, but I will not stop spreading this message about this neighborhood store. It isn't right that they didn't do their jobs and will still be getting paid for turning away paying customers in need. I wish you a Happy New Year.

I was a store manager for over 6 years, I was told by my DM that we needed to separate and I needed to give her my keys, of course I was stunned!!! She had said something regarding a new employee that I had hired, and that I violated her privacy. I asked "in what way". I had this new hire's permission to state to my assistant managers that she was handicapped. Just so that if I was not there and a issue was to develop they could handle it. I did not go into details. The new hire stated to me that one of the assistants that worked with her following asked her what happen. I told this to my DM, with no response, she just stated that they would investigate. I talked with the new hire the following day, and the DM didn't even ask her anything.

Now, with that said I had never been written up on anything to date. My DM stated that she would get back to me....NOT!! nothing, and she would not return my calls also. Now they (family dollar) will not pay me for vacation earned or bonus earned prior to this. Also trying to deny unemployment. I was recently diagnosed with copd, and was hospitalized twice prior to this, and had to take it a little easier, I also believe the current employees didn't realize that, so there also could of been some discrimination going on here also. Since then the said new employee that was handicapped has been fired by the "new" store manager. After all the years I gave to this company along with all the sacrifices I gave for the better of the store, this is what I get in return!!

My granddaughter worked for Family Dollar for almost a year and was promoted 4 months into that year to Assistant Manager. One of her Team Members accused my granddaughter of stealing from the store so they called the district manager and he proceeded to sit her down with no exact evidence and gave her a chance to "come clean". She then told him the truth that she did not steal anything from the store and that the only thing in her Family Dollar bags that she left with was the Round Up that my sister had dropped off to her that night.

The cameras that the store next door had installed showed her bringing them into the store. When she left that night, the only things she had in those bags was her jacket that had her old schools name along with her name on it too. She also had the Round Up, a heater she purchased from family dollar that another team member rung up, and her cigarettes that she has also purchased through this same team member. Well that same team member reported A WEEK LATER, that my granddaughter had stolen Family Dollar clothing and she stated that when "asked for a receipt" that my granddaughter said another team member had rung her up already for those items.

This is wrongful termination and she clearly did not do this because there was cameras outside showing how many bags that she left with and that "team member" never asked for anything. In my opinion, this is wrong and I will not be going back into that store. I also will be telling people how wrong she was treated by this store. She loved working for them and really loved her job. She was the first one to report someone that was stealing. She even chased after a few when they had stole items from the store. The local law enforcement can testify to this that she would call them in a minute if she thought someone was stealing. She was raised to respect other people's property and I feel that she was greatly wrong and I think some of the ones that reported the information needs to be assessed also.

I work at Family Dollar and the management is really unprofessional. I was written up three times in the first two weeks I was working there. I had no training, so I winged it because every time I asked where something was, I got an attitude. I got called in today while off the clock and was scolded because we were so busy on Halloween that I didn't get all the freight put up. I asked her if she was firing me and she said she was deciding whether or not to. I told her to kiss my ** and told her that I had to continually apologize for her rudeness to the customers. I guess I don't work there anymore...I didn't quit and she didn't fire me so not sure where I stand...lol. I emailed corporate on my employee website so will see if they are just as rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional as she is. I was hired as the next assistant manager and when I came back off of the leave of my mother passing, she had already hired another one. I would not suggest, unless you have no other choice, that you make Family Dollar your occupational choice.

He proceeded to get loud with her stating that he didn't have to hand her her change and that he hated rude people. She didn't speak as loud as him, but she was asking him why not. He stated that he hated rude people and that if she wanted respect she had to give it. She replied, “What about customer service?” He said F customer service and F her.

She left and I said to the manager, “Wow is this how Family Dollar does things?” He said he hated rude people and that he already had to get physical with a male customer for that reason. I told him that he was in a customer service job and he told me F customer service. This is not the first time that I have heard this manager’s foul mouth. The store manager has been told about this young man, but she does nothing.

I watched undercover boss when Family Dollar was being previewed and I must tell you, there is someone in the corporation that can put a stop to this kind of behavior. There are a lot of customers that look in the store to see if this young man is working before going in to shop. If there is someone in the corporation that cares about the image of this store, please do something. Re-educate this employee and his manager or something. Thank you.

We are paid minimum wage for work that requires 8 hours to be crammed into 4 and if we don't meet these deadlines we often get berated by management. Also I haven't had a raise since I've been here for 3 years and I'm told the only way that can happen is if I change job titles which I thought was insane and as per our store manager we get a new one at least about 1 to 2 per year and each one is worse than the last. And as for corporate our district manager is super corrupt. Him and a former store manager of mine actually orchestrated getting the former area manager fired so he can put his buddy in his spot. Needless to say that man was fired Friday and my store manager had his job by Sunday. And not to mention that all the management we have here have prior terminations from their former employers for drinking on the job and secure harassment and 1 time when I spoke up about a particular situation, I was reprimanded for doing so. Now to say the least I can't wait until I get away from this job for good.

To start, my husband worked for Family Dollar. He applied to one district but was lied to from another district manager saying he worked with corporate and wanted him to become management in his district. He told him that he wanted to work in the area where we live and the district manager agreed to make it happen. For months he lied to my husband about new store openings. He was supposed to get paid 17.50 an hour broken down from salary. They put in 17.00 instead. They then along the line decided to change it to 15 dollars an hour when salary was broken down. Never did he sign paper for his pay to change. They told him to work 70 plus hrs a week.

When he finally got a chance to move to a closer district, the current district manager would not let him leave and in his words said he would make sure it never happened meaning he tried to do his best to fire him and make him ineligible for rehire. After a week of no work and talking to human resources and people from corporate, they found holes in the district manager's stories and lies about my husband and he was able to transfer to the closer district. We are still struggling with the pay situation and nobody wants to fix it. How is it legal to continue to cut someone's pay??

So with all that going on we may be able to get by another month before savings run out and we are homeless with 3 small kids. Thank you Family Dollar for what was supposed to better my family's life by working closer to home has now ruined it. Well after that my second issue on customer service just seems so small now compared to the biggest issue I covered first. I can't say I've had pleasurable experiences shopping at local Family Dollar businesses. While my husband works retail, we like to shop where he works. We support and try to be proud of our places of employment.

His previous career was management for Piggly Wiggly for near 14 years. So we were pretty supportive. Each Family Dollar store they floated him around in I would shop in myself not stating I was his wife, just another average customer. The experiences were horrible and the staff were terribly rude. I never really shopped at dollar stores before my husband's employment with them, but I can say when he quits this awful place, I don't see myself ever shopping there again.

So, I left and went to the Family Dollar on Wilson Ave. I asked an employee there where I could find Velcro and she said, "Umm, I don't know, I don't know what Velcro is." "Are you kidding me?" I said, "Velcro for God's sake, the same thing that fastens those tennis shoes on your feet... Velcro!!" Since I already knew from past experience that I was going to get no customer service there at all, I just left and went to Ace Hardware and got the Velcro.

I've got to tell you, Family Dollar has the rudest, slowest, most unconcerned employees ever. As a retired store Mgr. of a major grocery store chain in Calif. I'm just shocked. Customer service was our number one goal because without them, we had no business! NEVER, EVER, would have one of my employees told a customer, "Duh, I don't know", and then just walk away leaving the customer on their own! If they didn't know what the product was the customer wanted, then they better be finding out what it is and make sure the customer either got it, or gave them good reason why not. Employees like you have at Family Dollar, would never have made it through their 30 day probation. I guarantee you that!

Do you just not care about how your stores are managed? Do you just not care how your customers are treated? I for one have had enough of these rude, untrained people. I'm done with Family Dollar. Just look at all the complaints from people. You really need to get involved with these stores and start hiring qualified, trained mgr to bring the hammer down on these lazy, ridiculous employees you hire. Or just fire them all and start all over again with people who have been taught that customer service IS their job, and if they can't do their job, then find another one. My wife walked past both of them and proceeded into the restroom. When she came back out a few minutes later the employee that was sitting and eating chips stood up and exchanged words with my wife. I was about 20 feet away and did not hear any of it. I finished my transaction with the cashier and we walked outside.

At that point my wife let me know we were not welcome to ever come back to that store. I said what? She said "Yeah, the manager said we have no public restroom and the back room was for employees only so don't come back!" I turned around and walked back in the store and asked the manager. Did you tell my wife not to come back here? She said "Oh yes I did! We don't have restrooms for public use!" I said well why didn't you tell her that? She turned and pointed at the back of the door that was now closed to the back room. It had a sign on it that said no public restrooms. I said that door was propped open when she walked back there. If it's so important why don't you keep the door closed? She then responded with "I'm calling the cops!" I said "Please do, I will be waiting for them outside right after you refund my money."

She then proceeds to tell me she has had her purse stolen from back there and that if she came into my home could she just walk around anywhere she wanted? I said, "So you live here?" She said "no, this is my place of business." I Said, "So you own Family Dollar?" She said, "I'm calling the cops." I said, "Ok, refund my money and I will be waiting outside." I was in the Family Dollar Store., SWB, shopping while black. I had to use the ladies room. I had been a regular customer and usually, there was no problem, but this time, because the lady had seen that I was homeless, by my attire, she didn't want me to go to the bathroom, without saying something to her first. I believe she was afraid I would l try to wash up in the bathroom. I had my bag with me and she asked to look in it. Usually, I tell them to go take a jump in a lake somewhere! Because they're not looking in my bag, unless they're going to look in everybody else's bag, as well! But this time, I dumped it and then cussed her out, because the fact that I had dumped it and showed her that there was nothing in it that belonged to Family Dollar, didn't seem to be enough for her!

She wanted to be confrontational. So she got cussed out! She had called the cops and we're in north Carolina so I had gotten up the street barely and it was as if there had been a bank robbery! They were of course trying to find some reason to lock me up, even though I explained to them what had happened and that she asked for it. So take me to jail! Although, I am very fearful of police and I don't trust them, I don't let them know it! They actually, wanted to lock me up for arguing with a salesperson! I heard one cop ask the other cop, well you want to take her in for, such and such and I would have been in jail that night behind some **, had I not threatened to get my ex who has lots of money and pull who I had just broken up with, involved.

I noticed that men who are homeless and who have to wash up in public places, never face the same trouble as women. Nobody says anything. With them, it's just the way it's supposed to be! It's a bathroom, it's not your home and what a person does in it, is their own business! But they like to monitor the bathrooms, if they think a woman might be going through something like that. What I can't understand is, isn't being homeless enough to deal with, without other people adding to it?! I know why they do it to me, but when I think of all the DISRESPECT that customers get in general, the profiling, the following us around, watching us, when we patronize these stores and I believe if people started NOT going into these stores for a while, in great numbers, just on principle, you would have a much different outcome, when you made a complaint against some of these cashiers and employees of the store.

She is never late, has never called in, yet even though she is never short on her drawer, her money is always right, she is constantly being asked if she did this, or did she do that in front of customers!!! She also works 8 1/2 hrs, and gets maybe, maybe a 15 min break for that whole time!!!!! Only when she is questioned about possibly doing something wrong is the only time she gets any feedback from her coworkers or managers. Actually the store manger works everyday, and has not had a day off for 15 straight days, working open to close, causing him to have zero sympathy for any of his employees. I have been in the store several times, once we brought her dinner. That particular day she worked 10 hrs with only one bathroom break. Causing my children, her grandchildren started crying that grandma couldn't eat!!!!! It was heartbreaking!!!!!

Also I came to pick her up, and my mom is a clean freak, and the only one there that does, clean, to stop sweeping, and mopping, and for her to simply stand behind a counter with no customers to wait on!! Not one person cleans that store at all that day, or any other!! Can you imagine a store that is bringing in hundreds of customers a day, and no one even sweeps, or cleans anything!!!!!!! My mother gets in trouble every time she tries to clean!! She gets no breaks, and is told all the time, "this is will get you fired, this will get you fired." She is terrified of getting fired everyday!! I can personally tell you, that if their employees are rude, not all, but some are just totally broken, and exhausted!!!! Rude behavior is never a option, and my mom is pleasant to everyone, no matter what, but I personally would of been done with that worthless job, but she needed one desperately, and it took 900++++ applications to get it!! So please know one thing, these employees, or a lot of them are great people, pushed to the limits!!! Who in the hell gets in trouble for cleaning, and who works 8 hrs with a 5 min break!!

They treat their employees like crap!! Not making excuses, just explaining the greed of Family Dollar to not give two ** about their employees, only their money, and bonuses!!!!!!! It is sickening, and sad, and they will never get another dollar from me, and our huge family now!! They lost over one hundred customers in one second!!!!!! Please everyone keep calling cooperate, it will eventually have to be addressed the more people continue to bomb them with complaints!!! My mother still works there, and my beautiful, sweet mother is always tired, sad, mad, and feels helpless, because she can't find a job anywhere else until she starts school!! Their employees are always treated as thieves as well, with constant bag searches, and cameras more focused on them, than the customers!! Please know they mistreat their employees, and it is simply inhumane!!!!

When will Family Dollar start to take care of its store employees?? I noticed the store manager in my neighborhood works open to close DAILY due to no assistant. And she is not allowed to hire her own assistant. So she works 100+ hours per week!! This is unheard of but I hear it's common now at Family Dollar. I contacted their corporate office to report this and was told someone would return my call. I am still waiting. The CEO was on undercover boss and stated he knew nothing of employees working without breaks, off days, etc. Well I think this should be brought to his attention. In GA., a lot of their managers are stating they receive decent pay weekly but when divided by hours it equals 7-8 dols per hour. So if you are ever mistreated by one of their employees, maybe it's because they are stressed to the max!

The Family Dollar in Lewes, Delaware is just the worse. One employee in particular, Ruby is rude and hateful every time I enter the store. Tonight, I was at the checkout and she was busy having a conversation w/ another co-worker. She couldn't be bothered to give me my total. I had to look over at the computer and I asked if x was the total. She grunted and continued to have an animated conversation w/ her co-worker. I used my debit card and she didn't acknowledge me at all during the transaction. I ended up leaving and she neither said thank you or offered me a receipt. This is typical.

I said I don't have the receipt, I always come here.

Before I could continue, he got a phone call and was speaking on the phone while I was trying to explain that I just needed to exchange the pants size and I needed the alarm to be removed off a shirt I purchased. He said, "how long ago?" I said maybe 2 or 3 weeks. He said "no, you don't have the receipt, I can't take the alarm off." I said "But it was your employees who fail to take it off. This is my money, please remove it." He said, "I was going to, but since you just told me to do it, now I won't. The alarm is for security and its company rules without the receipt, no." I said "I purchased this shirt, went out, it didn't sound, came in today and the alarm didn't sound. What security? I didn't steal this shirt. He said, "That is what you say!" I said, "Am I gonna have to get my credit card record to prove that I bought the shirt?" He ended up taking it off, he was very disrespectful.

I told him he was on the phone while taking care of me. He said that was not the point, that has nothing to do with the situation. I asked to exchange the pants and walked away from the register. Got the same pants, bigger size got gift bags and a shirt for my son and went to the register to exchange, the cashier was there. ** told her not to bring up the pants even though the pants were $3 less than what I had purchased them for and he just told the cashier not to bring it up so I didn't get a receipt for the pants only for the new items. After paying, I told him I will complain to his supervisor. Asked for his last name, he refused. I asked for the store address, he screamed at me "it is in your receipt". A customer in the register asked me if everything was ok. I just said the manager of this store is so disrespectful. I cannot imagine how he treats his employees. And left, I was treated very rude and ** the manager insinuated I could have stolen the shirt with the alarm device on.

OK so I bought a debit card at Family Dollar located in High Street - the one that are remodeling. Tuesday (June 3, 2014) I was buying some stuff and I added money ($20) plus ($5) to add money. Then I went home and bought something in the website Amazon.com. I was waiting for the stuff to get here but it didn't!! So I check the stuff I bought and I saw that the stuff I bought were not sent here. Reasons: the day on the debit card was wrong; some numbers were wrong; or there was NO MONEY on my debit card! So I called the number on the card and it said that it only had $1.03!! (Money that I already had)

So I went to the store June 5, 2014 and told them that they didn't add the money on my card correctly! The man that attended me was kinda ignoring me! And he said he couldn't do nothing about it! And he check the receive and he said they did added money but I still don't believe him! And he just ignored me and said that he won't do nothing... So what other reason there is that I did NOT have the money in my card!?!? I won't go to that store anymore! They don't know how to help you and they just took my money. That store really got me mad and the persons that were supposedly helping me... Horrible review - I should not even give a star; they deserve 0! That's a scam... :(

My 12-year-old daughter went to the Family Dollar store located on West Market Street with her cousin. As most kids at that age do, they were there to buy candy. Now my daughter and her cousin have small back packs that they use like purses. My daughter was in the aisle where the candy is and her cousin had made her purchase and was waiting by the front door of the store. My daughter is a regular at this particular store and it is popular with the kids in this area. There were other children in the store and there was a woman with a large diaper bag and a stroller with a small child.

My daughter however was singled out by this one female employee who told her manager that she believed that my daughter was attempting to shoplift items. According to my daughter, she was counting her money in her hand to check to see if she had enough to make her purchase. When the manager of the store confronted her and requested to look in her bag. My daughter, scared and anxious, complied with the manager's request. He looked in her bag and saw that she did not have any unpaid for items in her bag and then he apologized to my daughter but stated that it wasn't he himself that had accused her, he was simply acting on the direction of this other female employee.

I am told by my daughter that when this particular employee works and she is patronizing the store, this female employee stares at her and even glares at her. My daughter is of mixed race. I am ** and she is half Indian by her father. The manager did check my niece's bag but that was an afterthought it seems. My niece of course did not have any unpaid for items in her bag either. I later after hearing this went into the store with a large purse I made purchases and I was not confronted by anyone. My adult friend was with me with her two children. I had my niece and my daughter with me and there was no search of any kind. I thought about confronting the manager right then and there but I realized he was just acting on the accusation of his employee who at this point was no longer up front or visible in the store.

This store had always been a pleasure to shop in all the girls are young, outgoing and friendly, except this time it was a nightmare. We went in and approached the clerk immediately. I knew she was not a pleasant person when I said good morning and she just looked at me. So I proceeded to tell her that the previous weekend I had placed an order for ten balloons but I had misplaced the receipt. The clerk (**) immediately said that if I had misplaced the receipt I would have to pay for a new order of balloons because without the receipt she couldn't give us the balloons.

I told her that they must have a receipt or record of that transaction but she simply said that if I didn't have the receipt I had to place a new order and pay (again) for the balloons. I told her that I would not pay for something that I had already paid for. In front of everyone in the store she said loudly that it was not the store's fault that I was an irresponsible person and with that, she started taking care of other customers and just left us there standing. I have never been so insulted and humiliated by anyone in my life. I interrupted her and requested to speak to the manager. While we waited for the manager we heard her tell some of the customers what had just happened and telling them how difficult it was to deal with customers like us.

My husband couldn't take her comments anymore and asked her to be respectful and not to be so nasty. She answered back telling my husband that we had been nasty to her and that she doesn't take basura from anyone. All this happened in front of other customers and she just wouldn't shut her mouth up. Finally the manager came out and she immediately approached him and told him that we were upset because we wanted two extra balloons and we didn't want to pay for them. I couldn't believe what she had just said. What a lie. The manager tried to calm her but he couldn't. She continue to insulting us so he had to pull us to the side so we could explain what had happened. After this ordeal we finally got the balloons but even while we were getting them this lady continue making smart remarks and giving us dirty looks. I assure you that this store will never ever be visited by me or anyone that I can tell the story.

I proceeded to empty her pockets (2) and there was no polish. He then said, "Well she put it in her purse." I began to empty her purse and as I was completing this, he walked off mumbling.

I walked back into the store to confront him because I realized he did not see her put anything in her purse, he assumed that because she picked it up and decided not to purchase it, that she had stolen it. This enraged me because he refused to apologized and acknowledge to his manager that my granddaughter stated she left it on a shelf. I spoke to the manager on 3/11/2014 who was uninterested and nonchalantly stated he was there when it happened. The manager ** was not present outside the store and only walked to the front as I was confronting ** about his disrespectable tone and behavior inside after the incident.

I find the entire episode inappropriate and demeaning. If the employees of this store find it okay to provide customer service or lack of due to the demographics of the area, I suggest they move. Customer service should be the number one priority for any retailer. This same employee apparently derives some pleasure from repeating war stories, ** on another occasion in front of customers including myself, prevented a man from stealing Snicker bars while the man had a pocket full of money. How inappropriate, yet he doesn't recognize this.

The public that this employee disdains working with is the only reason he has a job. Somehow I don't think he nor his manager understands this. Instead of delusions of grandeur spewing from his mouth, I strongly suggest obtaining an education. This way he nor his manager are stuck dealing with customers they have deemed inferior. A clean uniform now and then would also help. Appearance speaks volumes and I am afraid there is no professionalism projected at this location. Rumpled, stained, shirts untucked, pants sagging, and a clear lack of respect for your customers is enough. I shall take my business elsewhere.

Now I showed her my email on my phone, then she said "oh, you need to printout the coupon." So she hit a button on my email, returning my food items back on my food stamp card.

I was waiting for Family Dollar to send me the code. Another email came on my phone "spend over $25.00 receive $5.00 off your purchase use code 20056," it was an mobile coupon code. So the manager placed one of the new employees in the register. That's when it got confusing with an attitude from her. So the new employee re-rung food items. I stated to her to please ring items up separately so I can use my coupon. Well on word lead to the next word. New employee was also rude to myself, and her manager. Other customers was upset, long lines and the manager had me waiting for over 20 minutes. Employees didn't know how to put mobile codes in register.

It was an very unprofessional experience for the third time within an year. I left all items that was purchased still in the bags. The employee refused to re-ring me back up, told manager to do it, etc. I contact Complain Dept of Family Dollar, explained my complain and someone said that District Manager will contact me but unfortunately it wasn't successful.

I just feel if you have a complain and if the district manager haven't contact you, then how can the employees act professional. Also when there are more than 10 people or more on a line they don't open up another register. So you wait on line for a while. Some people give up and leave. This store is a disgrace to the community. I've spoken to managers a few times regarding these issues and it has fallen on deaf ears. How do you not know when you're going to run out of bags? When you see you're starting to get low on bags you order more!!! Why are there not enough carts in the stores to utilize?
