Family Dollar is an absolute horrible company to work for. They allow customers to openly steal all day long because "the sales outweigh the shrink"... But do not dare have a Store Manager open a drink two seconds before paying for it... Taping receipt to drink.. On camera.. Because that's considered theft!!!!

Come on you're a multi-million dollar company and you can't get your coupons or your website to work right???

Store #01865 Marrows Rd Newark, De has the worst employees I've ever encountered. There's one lady (she may be an manager) who has the worst attitude. She's always on her phone behind the register and she always informs you She's off the clock and doesn't have to ring you up. She just sits behind the counter on her phone. The store was recently remodeled and only one register is in use.

BEWARE!!! This is by far the worst Family Dollar I have ever encountered... Every time I go to this store there is something missing out my bags. I have noticed this happened too many times. I purchased some items and notice that one or a few of the items that I purchased was not in the bags on numerous occasions. What they do is set it off to the side, then they steal it and take it home later. So on this particular day, I purchased a few items and I noticed that as I was grabbing my bags there was an item on the counter that was mine but I was thinking that maybe it was a extra one on the counter already sitting there, but I started to ask about it...

Then I get home and notice that it's not in my bag and I thought about how the Employee just slid the item over to the side purposely... So I realized that they have been doing this for a while now. It all makes sense now, because I have had so many items missing out my bags. This allows them to be able to steal without the inventory count being low or off... They don't need to worry about the customer stealing because the employees are the thieves!!! This is just really disgusting that you can't afford some of those items and you work there, You have to steal from the customers! I hope they are caught and fired. All management have to do is check the cameras. So check your items and your receipts to make sure that you have everything and it matches up because it is some true thieves that works for this Company.

Let me start off by saying I went in to get a couple of things for my son's school so I’m looking around. I ask the employee if she can tell me where the swimming diapers was at, she pointed me somewhere, and they went there going round and around the store. I finally go up to the register, one of the ladies was a manager and I go up to both of them and I show them the diapers and it shows they are in stock, they both looked at me and continue to do what they were doing, completely ignored me.

I thought they were going to help me so I stand there for a little bit, nothing, they was just looking for something and talking amongst themselves. If these people don’t want to work, they should stay home and let people that need jobs and are good with customer service do that. This is the Van Houten location in New Jersey Passaic or Clifton on the border there. I was disappointed and couldn’t believe what just happened. This was on July 1st around nine at night.

A few of them deliberately had it off the hook, but most of it just kept ringing and ringing. No one would answer! Like I get that you're understaffed and underpaid, I'm sorry about that but it's no excuse. I've worked in retail myself, and I understand what it's like to be understaffed but just answer the phone! The phone is at the register, and is it that hard to just pick it up and just say how can I help you? No excuse to keep using the "we are understaffed" card as an excuse or "we don't like to answer the phone because of Karen customers." This is the legitimate reason to be a Karen right now, answer your phone is it that hard? If you hate working there, LEAVE! Part of working at Family Dollar is to answer the phone.

I complained about one older man bothering me to manager one time. She just laughed. The store is always poorly stocked. I asked one stocker a question. She just said "sorry no English" and offered no help. The biggest problem is the gathering of loiterers outside bringing their stuff and following people to cars. The store is trashed outside. The cashier and the manager at my local Family Dollar were extremely rude and unprofessional. The cashier refused to put my items in a bag, and when I requested she did so, she refused again saying "most people don't want this in a bag so that's why I didn't put it in one." When I told her that I'm not most people and would like my items in a bag, she became hostile and verbally aggressive towards me. The manager came over and yelled at me not to speak to her cashier that way and then proceeded to "help me" by making me put my own items in the bag.

In the process of ringing up my items, the cashier threw plastic bags at me from the other side of the register and continued to be verbally hostile towards me. It just became one big unnecessary power struggle just because the cashier didn't want to bag my items. The manager threatened to call the police on me because I was visibly angry at being verbally assaulted. I will never shop at this store again. I have a disability recognized by the ADA. I had just got out of the hospital after a cardiac arrest and being on life support. I started getting really sick to my stomach when I was shopping. They never, ever, ever, ever, ever let you use the bathroom. Last time my sister needed it in an emergency and they wouldn't let her and she had diarrhea and urinated in her pants. Anyway, I was in tears begging the cashier to let me throw up in the bathroom. She told me to go throw up outside in the parking lot. I was stunned and told her that was humiliating and I would not do that. I was gagging in the store & she yelled at me to go outside to "puke."

I told her I would not and if I felt sick I'll just throw up on the floor. She can clean it up it's her job. To be so disgusting, inhumane & evil to refuse an ill, disabled person to use the restroom to vomit in private is sickening that you would hire her & condone it by the manager saying it was protocol. Have some common sense. In an emergency situation to avoid embarrassing a customer to throw up on the floor is unthinkable. That location has the nastiest employees. I rarely go to that location. Especially, after they made my 60-year-old sister poop & pee her pants when asked to use the bathroom in an emergency. If you're not going to have a public restroom for customers than there should be exceptions.

Okay friends. I have gone to the new Dollar Tree and Family Dollar here in Centralia Missouri a few times. At this point not sure if I'll go back. The issue is the automatic doors. The issue is sometimes they work sometimes they don't. My husband remembers that the door on the left as you are facing the building had always acted up for the previous stores. Yesterday I went there and I don't have a lot of strength so I had a hard time getting the door to open. I picked up the few things I needed and checked out. I asked the cashier when were the doors were going to be fixed. He said he didn't know and it wasn't his job to know. I then replied, "That's part of the problem today. It's nobody's job." He then said, "It's for a manager to answer that" so I asked to speak to one.

So the manager answers my question as to when they are going to be fixed. He said me they aren't going to be. He said Family Dollar doesn't have automatic doors. I then said, "Why do some days they work and some days they don't?" He said, "It's because people turn them on." Then I said, "Okay when are you going to take down the automatic door signs. It's a problem for someone in a wheelchair or scooter getting to the door thinking it's going to open and it doesn't." He then said he would put it on the manager's list??? The door wouldn't be so heavy to open if the mechanism was disabled I would think?

I have called several Family Dollars and they have automatic doors. To me it doesn't matter if Family Dollar in general doesn't usually have automatic doors but if you move into a building that has automatic doors I would logically assume you would utilize them. GUESS NOT!!! I have called corporate several times and have left messages but no call back yet. Any thoughts on the situation?

Store #4976 in Waco, Texas, located at 624 W. Waco Drive, NEVER answers their phone. You can't ever ask them a question about a product before taking a chance on spending money just to get there. You have to either burn up your gas, or pay a Lyft or Uber just to go and find out if they have a particular product in stock. Then you will have to wait for another Lyft or Uber to come pick you back up, which will cost you even more money. If you're disabled and on a fixed income, it's even worse.

If you try to make a complaint to corporate, you will have to go through a long, drawn out process via a mail-in complaint. None of their numbers are ever answered either, only pre-recorded messages. Inconvenient is an understatement. Now how is that for their so-called "great customer service"? I can see why they're losing business and having to close down their stores. They don't know how to properly accommodate customers, and their overhead is failing to stay on top of problems in their stores.

As I explained to her how am I supposed to know it's broken if I don't open the box. She refused to refund the purchase (I had the orignial receipt). Her reply was, "I can give you and exchange for the product" and if I didn't want another fan (why would I? I just purchased a broken one why would I want to purchase another one that could possibly be broken).

I proceeded to ask the clerk if she wanted me to put it back in the box and tape it back up. The clerk then proceeded to tell me if I didn't want another fan I could get other merchandise for the amount I paid for the fan. As I told her no, why would I buy anything else from here. When the product I purchased was defective and you wouldn't refund my money for that. Why would I buy another piece of merchandise that could possibly be defective. I don't want another another piece of merchandise just my refund.

When I asked her for the home office number she had no idea what I meant by home office. I explained to her that it was your corporate office and her reply was, "We don't have that information." I did retail management for 15 years. That is a bald-faced lie and something that your employees are told to tell customers. I don't frequent your stores and I won't go back again. This is very poor customer service and a horrid refund policy. I understand since you deal with people that struggle economically, however that doesn't give the company/organization the right to take advantage of them. That is appalling behavior for an organization that prides its self on helping the less fortunate, among being distrubing on so many levels.

Not a great way to run a business built on servicing people. I am quite upset about this experience and coming from a retail management background "word of mouth can do more damage than a bad review". I don't expect any resolution from this complaint, however, I do know that your customer service needs a lot to be desired.

At 8:45pm my son and I arrived at Family Dollar in Zanesville Ohio store # 2933. So after fishing all day and needing a few items we stopped to grab them before the store closed. My son lost his phone in the car so we were looking for it for like 9 minutes or so before we headed inside. Started to walk in at 8:54 pm, and as soon as we got inside the doors a man says "you got 2 minutes" without even greeting us. Well I said it isn't 9:00pm yet, and he said "I don't care. We lock the door at 8:57pm" and I said, "Ok that's fine. We won't be long." So my son and I went to the medication aisle and found what we needed. So we head back towards the register and I said to the man, "See. I told you we wouldnt be long," by this time it's 8:56pm.

I asked him if he would tell me his name because I didn't like how he was talking to me and I wanted to escalate the situation to management. He then tells me "no I'm not telling my name" and I said why, and he said "because I don't like you" while pointing in my direction. Very hostile and angry with me for no reason. So I asked him, "Are you racist?" Because my son and I are colored people and it felt like he was being racist towards me. I said, "Well I'd like to your name so that I can speak to your manager please." He proceeds to keep telling me no, while his badge is not on him anywhere. As we head to the door he is following my son and I aggressively and I noticed another employee there, a female. And I said to said her, "What is his deal, can you tell me his name please?" And she said, "Well he is right. We are required to lock the door at 8:57pm," and I said I understand but it's not 9:00pm yet and I'm already done.

As I am asking her nicely for the manager's information she tells me his name is ** and he'll be in tomorrow at 8am, and I said what good is that going to do me if I don't know his name? She says, "His name is Andy, alright," and I said ok. I unlocked the door myself because she had locked it at 8:57pm. I grabbed my receipt and the time on it said 8:57 and 46 seconds exactly. I was out of there before they closed. As I'm walking out this man screams at me and says "get out of our store"??? Is that acceptable behavior from someone in a customer service role? I understand it was close to closing time and that's why we ran in and out quickly. I am beyond upset and dissatisfied with Family Dollar.

It is impossible to speak to a live person to voice my complaint. The manager at 8:00am tells me there is nothing that can be done but to write him up and retrain him. That is not going to work for me. He needs to be fired from Family Dollar and he does not need to work in customer service anymore. There is nothing that this store can do to right this wrong. I have already contacted an attorney and this will be a civil lawsuit.

I have met some great employees and managers with outstanding customer service, however, there is a particular employee/manager by the name of Carol who time and time again I have seen her speak vulgarly and turns small incidents into outrageous scenes. I have seen her chase people out of the store and try to fight them in the street, I have seen her get physical with peoples property and I have seen her break under pressure. I understand there could be high stress levels working in low income communities. Yet, every customer should be treated with dignity and respect.

After yesterdays incident in which I had my child with me I am now going to advocate to have her removed from this store. I shop there almost everyday and whenever carol is working there is a thickness of a doomsday atmosphere in the store. I cannot tolerate someone who has no regards for other peoples children in a corporate store. My child should have not witnessed such a traumatic scene yesterday 9/18/2020 between 930-am and 945 am. She responded very disgusting to a family of 3 women and there are many other incidents she has handled completely unprofessional.

I literally have no other store to go to because my Dollar General is being renovated. Finally a couple more people walk up WITH face masks so I feel a little more comfortable. I get the few items I need and go to the checkout line. Now mind you there are signs ALL over the place saying face masks required and please social distance, even on the FRONT DOOR.

When I get to the cashier I see she's not wearing a mask. I have had Covid, still suffer from long term symptoms and I know how serious this is. So I ask her, (**) "Are the employees required to wear a mask?" She says "Nope and if anyone comes in without one I don't have to say anything to them"...What??? Then she says "I have a medical condition, so I can't wear one," WOW, and she was out smoking and looked in great shape. Now I have a medical condition, other than Covid, and I still wear a mask out of respect! I WILL NEVER SHOP AT A FAMILY DOLLAR AGAIN!

Family Dollar LPGA-No Mask Complaint. Two days ago on 7/21/2020, I stopped at the Family Dollar on LPGA in Holly Hill, FL. As I drove up, I saw a customer coming out with a cart and a mask on his face. So, I thought it would be safe to go in. I walk in the door and a cashier/staff greets me with no mask on her face. Two months ago, a month ago, I saw this no mask on Family Dollar staff before. Today, with almost 6,000 people dead in Florida, I thought there would be masks on staff.

The female Family Dollar staff said welcome to her store, I picked up a small hand basket and took two steps into store. I looked around and no one was in the store but me. I looked at the cash register area and there was just a clear piece of plastic between me and this probably virus infected Family Dollar worker. God told me to turn my ** around and get out of there. This I did quickly. Why am I writing this complaint? Family Dollar on LPGA had continued to have their staff with no masks, last month, month before, two weeks ago and now two days ago. When we pulled up I think all the employees were hanging out at the front of store smoking. There was one young man working in the store, the cashier. (Every time we have been to this Family Dollar store there are a few employees hanging around outside in front of the store smoking and eating.)

Sitting in the aisle was the cart with all the boxes where 2 boxes of disinfectant cleaning products were right on top. The Clorox wipes were in a open plastic open bag. We got one each and right under them was a box small box of microban 24. We opened and got one each of the spray. We know the policy is one per person and we were following the rules of the store. I needed a few others items which I was shopping for when the employees came back in from the cigarette break and one of them started screaming loudly so you could hear her Thru the whole store. Someone had been in her boxes. She then continues screaming to another employee. She doesn’t care who it is she is going to find them and throw them out of the store.

My husband and I got scared immediately as we didn’t want these employees screaming at us or throwing us out of the store so went and paid for our products and left immediately. We are scared to go back in the store because of the employees. As you know it’s been difficult to find paper products and cleaning products. We would like to know what you can do about this problem so we can feel safe shopping at the Family Dollar Store at 1155 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, RI. 02814.

This is not for want of available manpower, but the lack of man hours upper management will accord store managers to merchandise items and to maintain the store. Today I visited your location directly across the street from the Whirlpool building in which I work, wearing a shirt with our logo. As I persisted to check out, I was verbal attacked by one of your employees because I moved a cart that was blocking an item I wanted to purchase. She told me not to touch her cart and I explained I was only grabbing another item. We were at the check out line and she basically blocked my way to move forward.

This all happened in front of a manager who did nothing to stop the attack on me. The employee went on to yell “y’all think y’all can come over here and treat us any way because y’all work for a corporation”. Which leads me to believe that we are not welcoming to shop at your place of business. I will definitely be sharing this experience with coworkers, family, and all social media outlets. I felt threatened as though the employee was going to physically warm me. I usually have decent experiences at your stores, however, this experience has sour me to the core. I will not do business with a company that employees feel the need to attack me because I work for a corporation.

Fortunately, I went to college and received 3 degrees so that I could obtain the career of my choice, not to be attacked for my career path. I never raised my voice, I asked who was the manager as I finished my purchased and left your store. I think the employees name is Tesia or Tisha because she yelled it at me. Every time I go into the store I look for the advertised items and every time I scan the barcode it says not found even though there is a sign that says on sale. I get to the register and they tell me that they are having problems. This is going on for over a year, how many problems do they have. They refuse to override it and tell you to call the 800 number. The 800 number is just a recording that hangs up on you just like when calling the store. It's the old bait and switch game. They advertise things and then you cant get it at sale price so you end up paying more. Will not shop here and advise you not to.

I told her she should not have a POKER face to customers coz it was very insulting to us consumers if you will see her GESTURE.

I was referred to the Store Manager, Charles, a very nice guy. We straightened out things and while doing so, I saw the lady passing by to us coz I complained her to the store manager and I said to her, “I’ll write a review to you” and she replied w/o remorse w/ a NASTY face again that’s okay w/ her. Unbelievable. Customers should be treated w/ respect & dignity coz in the first place, I asked her POLITELY and in a very civil way. I just thought because shoppers there on that area are not rich.

I purchased 2 boxes of Homeline Facial Tissues for my nieces' school supplies along with pencils, erasers, etc. When I got in my car, I checked my receipt and saw that I was charged $1.50 for each box of facial tissues making them a total of $3.00. I went back into the store to inquire about the prices, because the shelf price label indicated $1.00. I asked the cashier if she would go check the shelf to verify the price. She said she was too busy helping a customer who told her to go ahead and help me. She asked another male employee who was sitting at the front of the store on his cell phone doing nothing. He told her, "What's the problem?" "If the cashier had rung up the price, why did he have to go check it out?" He made the attempt to check the price labeled on the shelf, which was $1.00.

I said I would like to talk to the manager, and the cashier said she was the manager, but as I continued to question the price, she said she was the asst. manager, and the manager was not in. I asked her why then is she letting the male employee talk to her so insubordinately and rude, if she was the asst. manager. She did not answer, I told her I have lived nearby for 69 years and never had an encounter like this. She said, "Well I don't live in the area." The rude and nonprofessional male employee told me I either want it or not, take it or leave it. I kept the facial tissues because I was delivering the school supplies so that my nieces would be ready for school. I am a retired educator. I told them I would never return to this store, but would make a complaint to Family Dollar for their rudeness, laziness, and non-professionalism. The male employee should definitely be fired, and the asst. manager needs customer service development and training.

I live on the same block as the Family Dollar store location at 861 Park Avenue. Garbage in front of the store, on Park ave, and behind the store, on Ellery street, is in evidence every day, in large volumes. The waste includes carts from the store, industrial saran wrap, boxes, litter, bags of garbage from the store and food waste. There is so much that often the entire sidewalk is blocked. This continuing problem has contributed significantly to an infestation of rats on the block.

In addition, there is an extremely high volume recording about “shopping at Family Dollar” that blares in the afternoon, daytime and, most alarmingly, at 3 AM when most people are trying to sleep. After all this, it is no surprise that the store is smelly, messy, poorly stocked and disorganized inside, with boxes all over the floor. The store is chronically understaffed so that those waiting in line often wait for over 15 minutes or more to pay.

The garbage situation alone is a glaring problem. As a business that makes its money from the people that live near the store, keeping the store areas clean seems like a minimum. I have also made a report about the store to the NYC sanitation department, and the Better Business bureau. I hope Family Dollar can be a better neighbor in our community, as soon as possible.

It have to be plug up as you do you own charger to charge your phone.

I brought it cause it suppose to be a wireless phone charger. They rob me. I'm stuck with a product that don't work or do what it say it do. SMH. Go figure. The lady never told me when you buy this you can't get your money back so she lie and said she did to save her job. This is insane. I felt so sorry for her. The look in her eyes told me she had to tell a lie to keep her job. She had just started there. They should have big signs all over tell customers they can't get their money back for electronics. This is robbery to all customers but mind you they have a 30 day return on all products. Don't buy any electronics from Family Dollar and report them to B.B.B.

Then 2 days later the phones would not connect back to my phone service and just displayed "Searching" on each phone because the 1 had to connect to the other 1 to work so since the phone wouldn't connect to my phone service neither phone worked.

I told her that corporate was unresponsive after multiple attempts by me to resolve the issue and I expected a refund from the store that sold me the card, and that I was willing to stay in the store until she contacted whoever she needed to resolve the issue. She got very agitated at that point and told me to leave the store or she would call the police. I told her to call the police and we could discuss the matter with the officer that responded.

When the officer arrived she claimed that I became "Very Irate" and was "threatening towards her" and that she wanted to press trespassing charges against me. Discounts are not given! Don't shop there. I shopped the Family Dollar store #07887 at 6039 Kimberly Blvd, North Lauderdale Florida. They have a huge sign on the outside wall advertising up to (red ticketed) 75% off discount- ADDITIONAL discount take off at register (I have pics). I went to their 4 shelf DISCOUNT area where the items were and began my shopping. I had over 12 items. There are signs ON the shelves that reflect the already discounted price on ticket and the NEW "up to 75% off prices”. (I took pics of that too!) Once at the register while ringing up items I asked how much did that take off? The lady said "Nothing. These items are not discounted".

After 20 minutes of going through items, NONE of which were discounted as advertised, I asked for the manager. She said "I am the manager and those items were not discounted". I asked her to come to the shelf for proof. When she refused I asked for the owner. At first she ignored me but when a customer came up, she said "He's not here and will tell you the same thing". She must have known the male customer because he came at me not even having knowledge of the conversation and situation. I asked her to show me what items WERE on discounted sale. She again ignored me. She wasn't wearing a badge and would not give me her name. I called customer service and they called her. She lied and said I had "grabbed items from a different part of the store" which was not true.

Finally I videoed her conversation and she stopped talking to me because I called the local news station. If they are not going to honor their advertising they will lose my business. I did not spend time shopping there just to get ripped. She allowed another employee to bring her children to work. They were running the aisles, (OSHA would love that) screaming so loud the lady told them to be quiet while the manager was on the phone with C.S. The employee then had her kids watch me in the aisle (I was taking pics). She knew I had the video on and her kids were taking candy and eating it without paying. I went ahead and brought 10 more items to the register from the DISCOUNT SHELF BUT they were not discounted either. I said, “I don't want them, thank you,” and left.

Most people give in and pay for them. Say ENOUGH and hold those "advertisers" accountable. They had my number but I never heard back. Gave them three chances to do right. Guess the ripoff goes all the way to the customer service center. Owner, Leon Levine: if you read this you should do an undercover boss segment on your store! You would be shocked! Maybe not. I have not experienced this in other stores but then again they don't advertise fraud to suck you in the store!!! And no, it wasn't bring your child to work day.

They didn't know their own policy regarding returns and exchanges and I was told I couldn't do an exchange without receipt. When I pointed out the sign behind her said I could she became combative and rude. I left the store and waited in the car while my wife continued to shop and she overheard a customer ridicule me and the employee laughed and called me an ** in front of my wife. Now this month my brother purchased with cash a Verizon prepaid cellphone.

He was told that if he had to return that he could the following after by our mother that he didn't need the phone because she was going to put him on her family plan and tried to return it, still unopened and less than two days after purchase. He was told that it was against store policy to refund that phone which is untrue. They told him that this was a third party vendor and they could not refund the phone yet there is no policy posted anywhere in the store on the receipt or on the box of the item that list this policy regarding returns. Store policy is listed on the window inside their store and easily found on their website and it states "Electronics Return Policy: Unopened merchandise with original receipt may be exchanged or returned within 30 days."

I then contacted the company thru their website by email requesting resolution asap and was never contacted back. I then returned to the store with the receipt to attempt to return item still less than 5 days after the purchase and was told by an associate that Lydia the store manager, would refund the phone only to the original purchaser. When I asked if this was store policy she said no. It was the store manager’s policy? “**”. That’s when I contacted customer service by phone.

The phone rep contacted the store, spoke with Lydia, explained store policy and instructed her that when I returned for my refund she was to treat me as “a valued customer”, her words. I thanked the phone rep and returned to the store, spoke with Lydia who promptly and rudely spoke over told me that my brother and I were no longer welcomed back in the store. When I asked why my brother was 86ed she said because he had harassed her employees and made a scene when he had initially tried to return the item. This is an outright lie.

When I asked why I was being kicked out of the store she said and I quote “because I got involved in something that was none of my business." I was stunned, I've never been kicked out of a business before and now I have yet to hear back from corporate. I've contacted them via their website and Facebook and all I get is the automated lip service and empty apology. If it were only possible to give them a negative star. #fdpoorcustomerservice.

Every time you walk in the store she's talking very inappropriately ignorantly about other employees. This evening I go in to buy an Xbox Live card there's a sign hanging on the 24.99 card saying it's on sale for 12.99 for three months, when I asked her for the card she came over and rip the sign down and said it was supposed to come down at Thanksgiving that was an old sign.

I then informed her that because it was still displayed that she should honor, she over spoke me in a very rude and defensive demeanor told me that no she could not because it wouldn't give me the three months. I said I think that you should be able to override it as the manager, again she over spoke me and gave me very bad attitude. I told her not to speak to me that way. She proceeded to yell at me throughout the store in front of other customers very rude, very unprofessional. Don't know how she got that position as manager.

This happened today at Family Dollar: I walked into store #08794 at 2102 45th Street, Galveston, TX 77550 today around noon, and I walked into the store intending to buy some cheap trash bags. I realized I didn't bring any money with me, so I was leaving to go back across the street and get money to make the purchase.

On the way out of the store, the manager stopped me and asked if he could help me. I told him I was going to buy bags but had to go get some money, and then I asked if they were hiring. He immediately told me no, and a man who I assumed was the district manager also added that no the store is not hiring. I return back to the laundry and told my wife what had occurred. Minutes later, she then went into the store to buy the bags. She asked the manager the same exact question, and he immediately told her yes they were hiring, explained how to apply, asked her name, and was extremely friendly to her in regards to her inquiry.

I returned to the store and asked both managers the reason I was told no they are not hiring and my wife was told otherwise. The store manager lied to me saying he told her they were only accepting applications, yet that isn't what he did at all. After saying yes they are hiring, he told her to fill out an application. She inquired if it was a paper application or if it needed to be done online. He told her to apply at the kiosk at the front of the store. When she told him she had to take care of some things and would return later, he made sure to ask her name.

Neither man had the decency to apologize to me, even though I was very distraught and on the verge of tears over my mistreatment. We are considering going to the media over this situation or contacting an attorney. What those two men did to me today was wrong, and I assumed they thought I was a thief. The starkest differences between my wife and I: I was dressed well, wearing a collared shirt and dress shoes, clean cut, and shaved as I am looking for work. My wife was very dressed down. She was wearing flips flops, messy hair in a clip, wearing a men's t-shirt and has multiple tattoos showing. She is **, and I am **.

Leaves the register unattended and when you ring the service bell she takes several minutes to return and then she appears annoyed. Today I brought my items to the register to check out and she was writing something on a notepad and she left me standing there for a few minutes without even acknowledging that I was standing there. Then she proceeded to start scanning my items and literally throwing them in a bag carelessly. She hands me the receipt without even saying a word throughout the whole transaction. Sometimes she doesn't even tell me my total... I just look at the screen to see it. This woman should definitely not be in customer service. I am a very frequent customer there and if this continues I will no longer shop there.

Skeptical about whether or not they would work, I asked about their return policy. I was told I would not receive cash back, but would get a store credit. So I purchased them. They don't work and I just tried to return them and was told I could not. I could only exchange them for a new pair. They said their "electronics" policy was posted everywhere. And I went back to where I picked the headset up, and way up high, in little tiny letters, there was a sign. Seriously??? I asked when purchasing and was given the wrong info. Seems they would give me a store credit considering that!!! But no. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN. Buy from Walmart!!!

Following day once remembered I hadn't purchased and as many woman I'm sucked in to those spurts of shopping for nothing else needed really second time.

So this type of store shop I'm in aisle with basket containing items I really didn't need and the AT&T card and some small items like nail polish and what not. As I'm looking at the diverse cost of mascaras I noticed an employee of store in aisle with me too and I stated to her the vast difference between cost of them. So she looked at me and said, "I know you don't." And I looked at her and I smiled and I said, "No. I don't know you." and she said, "Yes I do." And she came up to me and said, "Can I see your basket." And I thought it was odd and handed it to her and she said, "Okay no problem." and walk me to the front and said, "You can leave." and I looked at her puzzled and said, "Excuse me." and she said, "I know you. So just please leave." and insinuated I had been someone who had stolen and took my stuff and asked me to leave the store in front of a whole line of other people like myself. I was completely humiliated.

4 years and I wasn't and never have stolen anything in my life. She said to leave the store. I was completely appalled by this. I told her within walking distance it was a complete and convenience. I needed to buy that phone card because I did not have a vehicle and she refused for me to buy anything that I had in the basket and told me to leave the state. I called the police and they told me it was a consumer affair that I needed to contact Family Dollar corporate and there was really nothing that they could do. But I told them it was prejudicial and bullying because of age and area statistic and he agreed and apologized. He said they had received several complaints but there was really nothing until someone above the management at that store did something about it and was sincerely apologetic for being a citizen in the city and having treatment like that.

Since then I've heard of one friend who was told to remove stuff from their pants and they stripped down so they had nothing in their pants and was told not any apology but you leave as well for falsely being accused and I had another friend who is buying tweezers and asked to leave and told that he had been there in so something as well and did not completely.

They should not legally be able to treat their customer like that. We should not go into a store and be asked to leave and not able to purchase anything and not apologize when they see you are not doing as they say and for their own traditional assortment not able to stop in the store. I do feel I should have some sort of compensation about this before I see any legal aid as with others that I am in contact with you feel the same way. Please contact me in regards to this so I do not need to continue climbing the ladder of upheaval in the anguish of the time and consumed humiliated embarrassment that I have with bethrottled from this situation. I won't ever go back to a Family Dollar store! And I'm reporting those employees to the district manager. When I put the bowls on my stove the smalls once fit in the stove hole but not the big one. I proceeded to return the item within the authorized frame time limit. But the cashier seems to be confused and she does not know what to do. She called the supervisor who was present at the store and they asked me to wait for a second which become 20 mins until they serve all other customers. The supervisor called her manager by phone and finally they decided that I have to come back tomorrow and already that lady manager is all the time rude and unpleasant.

Family Dollar Lincoln Avenue Vineland NJ 08361 - The manager in this store is either on drugs or needs medical help. Twice now, I have asked whether or not they carried a certain item. One time, I was in the store and asked for manila envelopes. She looked at me as though I had two heads. I explained what they were and she still did not understand. I then walked over to the stationery dept and found them myself. When I showed her what I was talking about, she seemed very confused and said "Oh." I have seen her do this with other customers in the store as well.

The other day I called (rather than make a trip to the store) and asked if they carried tinsel garland. She answered the phone (I know her voice since I shop there often). I asked if she carried the product and she did not have the slightest clue as to what I was talking about. I tried explaining and she still did not understand. Now, if she is the manager of a store and she has been there for a while (I do not know why), she should know her products. Especially since this is a Christmas item and ANYONE would know (even an idiot) what tinsel garland is.

I told her that since she "is the manager of a store, she should know what it was." That is all that I said, and she hung up on me. This woman obviously needs help, not only because of the situations described above, but I have seen her being nasty and rude to other customers in the store. She seems bewildered and confused. And does not go out of her way to help customers. She has help in the store, so I don't know what the problem is. I don't know her name, but I believe she is Hispanic, not sure. There are so many people looking for jobs that are willing to help, but this lady does not seem to like her job. I have heard her complain to other store associates about her job. If she doesn't like it, leave. She should be contacted and reprimanded. There are many other stores in the area which I can go to.

It's Christmas time, YET... Store manager, Raymond, towed my vehicle after I made it clear I could not afford a towing charge. My truck was to be picked up by my mechanic the next day, on Friday. Raymond was aware that the mechanic didn't get it on Thursday. He knew the vehicle was not "abandoned", that I was working on moving the vehicle. The vehicle only needed to be moved 300 feet to the shop across the street. BUT, he called to have it towed on Saturday morning when he knew that the only reason it was still there was due to my mechanic not getting time to get it moved. While the store manager has the option to call a tow truck, he knows it costs over $200 to get the truck out, + $25.00 per day to remain at the tow shop.

The store manager has NO heart, and didn't stop to think that maybe waiting until Monday would have saved a customer some serious charges and issue. NO ONE was affected by the towing of my vehicle but ME. There was a NEW parking lot just installed, no one was at all inconvenienced by my vehicle remaining in a parking space. This is unconscionable!! There is NO heart with this company when our job as human beings is to be there for one another. Those that shop at this store obviously live below the poverty level -- something Raymond should be considering when he knows whose vehicle it is and knows it is being handled, and that it was not "abandoned". But, he didn't care, he towed it.

My charge now is $260.00, to get it out. Yet, it wouldn't have changed anything whatsoever at the store if my truck had remained until Monday. I could have called my OWN tow truck, I didn't because I didn't have $50.00 to do so!! Doesn't anyone think anymore?? About the consequences of their actions? I will NEVER walk into that store again. I spent 100's of dollars there, but NOT anymore!! I will be putting this review up EVERYWHERE on the web that I can!! DON'T SHOP at the Family Dollar on S. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA - or any Dollar Store.

The associate had rap music playing on her cellphone while she was checking me out which I thought was very unprofessional at first. After she checked me out she proceeded to check my mother out. After she was told her totally we notice she didn't get the coupon discount.

I asked my mother to give me her phone so I could see if she clipped the coupon upon checking. My mom said never mind. The associate then said, "Will you move so I can check the next customer out." In the meantime her bags were in the baskets along with mine. I told her no she needed to complete my mother ticket. I also said she didn't have a right to refuse my mother service and she said yes she did again. I asked for the store manager. She said she was the manager. I come to this store often and I have never saw this woman in this store. I then asked for the number to the regional or district manager. She stated they didn't have one so I said, "Okay so you are a manager and refusing service to my mother."

I don't know what was her problem. My mom is already disabled and can't stand on her legs so my mother said the lady was making a scene and my mom insisted we leave. She acted so rude to us. I really think something should be done. Why would she refuse my mother service and customers was along why would she refuse my mother service. I would think our money is what keeps the store open and her paycheck flowing. I need answers or help. Someone please tell me what should we do. Without eye contact or any pleasant words, the manager took the closed sign and slammed it onto the counter and said, "There's another line open".

By this time there were 4 more customers behind me. We all moved forward as she rudely told us to do. The disabled customer was still holding up the line. The manager then without calling me or any of the other customers who have now been waiting OVER 5 minutes, she reopened her line and took the guy standing in front of her. I turned and said, "I've been waiting already, you aren't going to take me first? " To which she rudely replied, "If she don't like it she can go shop somewhere else!!!" Plymouth, PA, store manager was irritated that I wanted to return a product I bought on faction in South Carolina. When I got back to my hotel room, I noticed it had been opened and half of the contents removed, but I didn't have time to return it there, so I went to my local Family Dollar (Plymouth, PA). The manager was irritated to be bothered in the middle of accepting a Coca-Cola delivery. I offered to let her continue, but asked how long she thought she would be. Her reply: "I don't know when he'll be done, but I have work to do". She listened to my story and clearly telegraphed that she did not believe me. She thought I opened and used half of the contents of the package and wanted to have my next one free. Personally, I would trust a customer until given a reason not to do so. Product goes missing all the time from retail stores.

Angrily, she processed my return. She offered no pleasantries during the course of the transaction, though she did plenty of eye-rolling. I don't think I asked her to do any more than her job, yet she wanted to do anything but her job when it came to asking her to work. I think she likes being the boss lady and dealing with the Coca-Cola delivery man, but she doesn't like being in charge of the store and dealing with customers with legitimate grievances. I would advise never going to the Plymouth, PA Family Dollar, and I, personally, am reconsidering ever returning to a Family Dollar Store. I have a Dollar General even closer, and the people there are polite (though the lines are just as long!) and I have dollar stores, as well, closer than Family Dollar.

It's a shame that Family Dollar acquired Dollar Tree. I expect Family Dollar will turn excursions to Dollar Tree into an even more arduous task, reminiscent of Family Dollar. The woman who attended to me in Plymouth, PA needs to lose her attitude in order to work for customer service. Then, she needs to learn and understand store policies. Perhaps some smiling classes wouldn't hurt, either. And please don't let her become the manager of one of my local Dollar Tree stores!

Mind you, we have bought cigarette at 9:50 before so why the sudden change??? She told us, ''it’s store policy'', which is a lie... so she stated, ''do you really want the cigarette that bad''? And tossed the cigarette on the counter, so my husband started recording her.

He proceeded to called her out on her rude behavior and she stated that she could ''kick him out the store'', for what??? Her manager comes up and calls my husband an **, a couple other names and proceeded to argue with him. Now the manager threatens to call the police, for what, I don't know because he did nothing wrong. So my husband said he would be calling corporate office and with confidence the manager said ''go ahead''. So we did and just like we thought, their behavior was unacceptable, rude, disrespectful and very unprofessional.

So hopefully they will be dealt with asap because that situation was ridiculous and a manager defuses a situation but instead he provoked it!!! SMH wow, they count the cigarette a hour before they close and choose not to sell any because they don't want to recount them.... that's not right or fair to the customers. Inside it is worse, aisles are cluttered, difficult to pass down, shelves in disarray, poorly stocked and never straightened or well stocked, many items not priced, never any help to assist you in the store, usually only 1 person at the register. Not very friendly and it is getting real easy to drive on by and go further down the road to either Dollar General, Fred's, Dollar Tree, or all the way to Walmart. I even saw a huge rat the last visit in my way to my car. It is truly a store.

I would think upper management would visit and perhaps make a change in the store manager and the entire group of employees if they aren't willing to get this store straightened up, cleaned, stocked. It borders if not exceeds what the health department would walk in and shut down. As I'm reading the disgraceful reviews, mostly entailing, horrible, abusive behavior from Family Dollar associates including managers and even on the corporate level, I'm appalled and find it incredible that this company and its employees have not faced legal repercussions, let alone the fact that they are still employed and there seem to be no repercussions at all has got me almost speechless... Almost. My experience with the store in my town has always been less than pleasant but the last time was one of the most degrading, humiliating moments of my life. I overheard the employee talking about me to another customer, accusing me of stealing while there is also a line of people waiting behind the customer that she's bashing me to.

So I look over and all these people are gawking at me so I calmly walk to the back of the line with my Carmex and Reese's Peanut Butter cups and say "I'm just going to pay for these items now so you can hopefully put your suspicion to rest and I can continue to shop and you can focus on your job." After I paid for my items, I walked over to the clothes but they didn't have the what I was looking for in my size so I went back to the check-out area to pick up my other bags that I had walked into the store with, which I would like to mention that I waited at the front door with my bags for a good while, because there was no one in sight and I'm already aware of this employee's attitude, so I waited before actually entering the shopping area til she finally came out from a backroom.

Anyway, so now I'm trying to collect my bags and leave and she literally yells at me, asking me what I did with the other items that were in my hand. I was a little dumbfounded at her straight out accusation so asked her what she was talking about. She then said, "wait right there, I'm calling the police!" She then went on to call me a crackhead and she also said that I probably don't make much money selling my ass, that's why I have to steal from Family Dollar. I told her that I was leaving the store and she can call the police but she may want to check her cameras first. She yelled more profanities as I walked out the door and told me I'm not allowed in the store anymore so I asked for the corporate number. She came flying from behind her counter and was laughing and acting like she insane and more than happy to oblige my request, she even offered to dial the number for me.

I guess that goes back to what I was saying in the beginning of this review. She was not worried about me reporting her because there are no repercussions, as a matter of fact, you would think that they are rewarded for abusing their customers. The only conclusion I can come to is that Family Dollar endorses and supports racism, sexism, bigotry, and downright abuse. Maybe their training/orientation requires them to be fluent in ignorance and as their final initiation into Family Dollarhood, they are required to kick puppies and punch kittens. Lastly, I want to say how humiliating it is to even repeat what this woman said to me but it has to be said because it was completely unwarranted and I know that she targeted me because of my appearance.

I have lupus and beginning stages of Parkinson's disease. One of the side effects to a med that I'm on is alopecia, which is hair loss. I have a steady tremor and a slight stutter. I do not smoke **. I don't even take narcotic pain meds. This woman was way out of line and I can think of a hundred one degrading comebacks and innuendos that would make feel small and disgusted with herself, believe me, it's hard to hold back but I hold myself to a higher standard these days. However, I plan on taking this as far and high up as I have to because discrimination and abuse should not be a part of anyone's cheap, bargain hunting, retail experience and this woman should not be allowed to work with the public. Family Dollar, you are no Walmart, not even close to Kmart or Big Lots. Try offering your employees more than minimum wage and offer benefits so your employees don't hate themselves and their lives so much. Just a suggestion.

I am writing to let management know that customers are being treated unfair. Store hours should be honored no matter what. I walked up on another customer and employee arguing about store hours. It was approximately 10 minutes before closing. I knew I didn't stand a chance on getting in because the employee asked the customer to go home. The customer was so upset. She was using profanity. The employee threatened to call the law on her. She had small children with her. All the employee had to do was let her in, but she stood there with the door locked. It could have been an emergency what she needed. I didn't say anything. I left and went across the street to Dollar General. They were also getting ready to close but they let me in because it still wasn't 9:00 yet. I told them what happened and that I was grateful they let me in. The Family Dollar Store need to honor the store hours no matter what. It will stop a lot of DRAMA!!!

My wife proceeded to the store associate for a price check and was attacked by a lady who was a poster woman for **. She was the most inconsiderate person I believe I've ever met. This person attacked my wife, in the company of other shoppers, with the accusation of her stealing from this store and presented a photo of my wife and a product that we do not and have never used. I do not know the logistics behind the accusation or the photo Family Dollar Store presented to us. If this were a legitimate situation why was there no notification of authorities. Myself and my wife will be more than happy to rectify any legitimate claim this store may have.

Anyone can put an item into a convenient temporary spot if shopping without a cart and forget however it's difficult to understand why that would happen with a product we do not use. I agree this should not ever be done but it can happen. If this occurred why was there no notification of any kind. I will attempt to contact someone within this company that is stable enough to speak with and remedy the situation. If we owe for a product even if we don't use it, we will pay for it.

"He will be there in the morning." 3rd day I call in before going. Is been rainy out I decided to call first. I'm asthmatic and is quite a walk to store. Kevin the manager said to come in for return. He will do it. I go 30 minute later. Kevin left the store. I feeling kind of tired 3rd day. 4 day I walk to store. Employees again say, "No we can't process returned. We're not allow plus there is no card for the return for store credit." They are totally wasting my time. Slowing me down. My week has been ruined.

I want to return my items to continue and purchase household items to clean my house. I can't. Because of family dollar. My question is they are very strict with policy. Supposedly but when I decide to buy and spend money $$$; they gladly charge me the item with no excuses. Now when it become on returns they are your enemy. I'm sickkk. Today my 5 day. Finally talk to manager Kevin. While I come in to the store the employee saw me come in with the bag total me said no no I can't returned. Kevin manager was there. He try helping me out but there was no card. They need to be more responsible on what they are doing and try solved customer issue. Because I read clearly family dollar policy and if I'm not satisfy with any of the product purchased I can returned it within 30 days period. I sick of this store. Something needs to be done. This is not the first time or store in my town syracuse ny. It has been happening a while now.

I actually have a major complaint. Well to start off with I have been in store 4704 three times this week with the same cashier and on two of the days the store manager Tammy was there the cashier is a trainee and her name is Kathy. Tuesday my fiancee and I went into the store to get a few things and I had encountered the store manager Tammy and cashier Kathy talking bad about my fiancee which is so not right on many levels. He was just rushing me up in the store because he was tired and just wanted to get home so they both didn't think I could hear them and was saying how mean he was, how he was this and that. That crossed the line itself but mom works there and didn't want them to take it out on her so I didn't call in right away.

Then Thursday I went into the same store with the same cashier and store manager. I had a problem with a smart coupon and the manager herself got smart. I tried to explain the coupon and she put her finger up for me to shut up and was completely rude the cashier and then again decided to make smart comments about me then today Friday I went in there with my mom. I had another problem with the coupons. This time Kathy had stated that I needed to hurry up because her line was getting long and was say other smart comments.

I ended up taking my items back because I feel like I'm treated badly there. Why should I buy anything from there. I will not be going back into that store because people don't realize what others are going through and I'm actually dealing with issues that make me nervous about going to stores anyways because of anxiety. I was almost on tears today. Even though I know you don't care about how I was treated or how I was made to feel I just thought I would let you know how your store is being ran.

I know sometimes people will move items, but I'm talking about a bundle. When I get to the cashier and see that the price is rung up different from the price tag location and let the cashier know instead of that cashier taking a walk or asking for assistance they will literally argue with me as if I'm someone out in the streets. As I waited in line, there were 2 cashiers, one discussing personal information with someone who was not even a customer and another who was assisting a customer check-out while eating a chocolate cupcake with her hands! I continued to wait for the other cashier to finish her non-customer conversation so that I could be on my way, instead the cashier who was eating the cupcake called me next in line.

She then proceeded to grab my items with her chocolate filled fingers and placed my items in the bag. I then asked her for a few paper towels (so that I could wipe the chocolate residue off of my canned goods). She didn't even say "Hello" or "Thank you" as she handed me the receipt with chocolate stains on it! It was such a very disrespectful and unhealthy transaction. Even though this is the only Family Dollar in my town of Randolph, MA, I never want to shop at this location again. Blatant lack of customer service and poor health hygiene of associates. Bags were not available until 5 pm. It was 3:08 pm at the time, we were not going to wait. That was ok. Because it was ice cream the clerk charged me again for 2 items. My mom called the store to let them know we were charged for 2 items. She told them about the item, they said it would be handled in the morning.

We go to the store and the daytime manager is unaware of this transaction. She is irate and unprepared to handle this transaction. She is impatient and intimidating to my 83 year old mom. Her attitude is very negative. I want someone to investigate this scenario and give this management some sensitivity training. I like Family Dollar. This one transaction ruined our entire day. Store 11090 was the worst Family Dollar store that I have been to in my life. I regularly shop at Family Dollar, not only for the low prices, I come for the convenience, being a mother of three, how I can quickly come in the store and leave. Tonight, I was appalled at the loud rap music behind the counter and I listen to rap. The cashier, who was young and immature boy, was not only being indecent in front of my kids by cursing and being vulgar towards me but was loud and rude to several other customers.

I usually don't make complaints, but something has to be said about how rude that man Family Dollar hired to cashier. I not only got harassed by him, but he didn't bag all of my items. I'm missing several that I know I paid for, the music blaring, his disgusting talk and obnoxious conversation just distracted me so much I wanted to leave immediately. I had bad experiences before, but none worst than tonight! If I do decide to shop there again and he's still employed, I'm leaving the store and calling corporate. Future customers shouldn't be subjected to that man's ignorance! Please investigate and solve this MAJOR PROBLEM.

PROBLEMS AT Family Dollar With MANAGER. My wife and I had just been at the pizza place next door to Family Dollar on New York Ave in Deland. We went into FAMILY DOLLAR to get dog treats. Picked up the dog treats. Started down the aisle and we notice Folgers Coffee, several cans with a large price tag of $5.95 under it. Since we drink Folgers, thinking that was a sale price we picked up a can. There were several cans of coffee above this price label so. It was not the case of one or two cans moved out of place. At the register the coffee rang up as $8.50. My wife called this out to the cashier's attention. He went back to the area with my wife where the coffee was and saw that the coffee was in the wrong place. The clerk then switched about 4 of the cans to the proper place. Explained that the coffee had been put in the wrong place. He said that he would let us have the one can for $5.95. Then went back to the register.

The clerk, who stated he was an asst. Mgr., told a guy by the name of Nebe about the problem and that the rest of the coffee needed to be corrected. Nebe who we thought was clerk was actually the store General Manager. Nebe told my wife to come back and show him where she found the coffee. She did so. Nebe then accused her of moving the coffee that the clerk had switched when he came back to check the price label. Nebe then accused my wife, saying she was trying to steal the coffee and wanted to look in her purse. Which she refused and came to the front of the store. The assistant that was running the cash register was very nice and was fixing the problem. Nebe just made the problem worst. The man does not have social skills to work in customer service. It was very obvious that some employee put the wrong label with the wrong coffee.

Only 2 employees were seen in the store. Nebe said he had placed the coffee correctly earlier that morning but yet the employee had seen the mix-up and called Nebe out on it. Nebe I think got mad and did not want to eat crow so he turned on Eileen accusing her to try to keep himself from looking bad. I suggest to anyone, as long as this guy is working there, stay away. He has major issues. We do plan to take this to the BBB and anyone else that will listen. I use be a store manager myself and this is so wrong for a store to do this to someone...

The reps at Store # 00525 in Tallahassee, Florida are unprofessional/lack of job training. On Feb. 27, 2017, I purchased 2 pair of toddler shoes along with some cleaning supplies, the cashier put the receipt in the bag with the cleaning supplies, in which I apparently threw away. One pair of the shoes were a size 5 and the other a size 7. The size 5 were too small and the size 7 were too big. On February 28th, I returned to the store with the shoes with ALL tags intact, the plastic piece still holding the shoes together, in the fresh Family Dollar Store bag, and waited in line patiently, while the cashier (Chuck) held a conversation with a female at the counter about another female he had just gotten a phone number from (while on the clock), then he proceeded to talk across the store to another male employee about receiving the girl's number, and if she had given him the wrong number, he wouldn't care because she wasn't that cute.

FINALLY after this childish conversation ended between the 3. I stepped up to the counter, and explained to Chuck that I had just purchased the shoes the day before but they were too small, and that I simply wanted to exchange them both for a size 6, in the exact same shoes. Chuck then says "I need your receipt." I explained I didn't have the receipt, and that I don't need a receipt for an exchange for the exact same items. Chuck then smirks and says, "without a receipt, I have nothing to scan to know that they were purchased." (Yes, he was insinuating that I could have possibly stolen them!!!)

He then looks past me as if to beckon the next person in line to step up. I once again said that an exchange for the same item can be made without a receipt. Chuck then says, "WELL... I don't know what to tell you, IT'S OUR STORE POLICY, but what you can do is come back another time and see a GM." As I left the store he began to discuss me and the situation with the male customer behind me.

On March 2nd, I drive ALL the way back to the store with the shoes and ask to speak with the GM, I was SENT down the aisle to him (go figure). I walked up to the GM, who was putting items on a bottom shelf, and stated I wanted to exchange the shoes for the same, but a different size, but I don't have the receipt. Barely looking up, he says OK. So then I say, "well just one day ago your cashier Chuck said it's policy I must have the receipt to exchange unless I speak to a GM." Still barely looking up the GM states, "that's correct." Then he calls to girl at the counter that I'm just doing an exchange. He didn't look at the shoes, didn't look in the bag to even know what I was exchanging, and didn't even have the courtesy to look me in the face while I was attempting to address the issue.

Once again I was very irritated with the customer service skills of this store's employees, including the GM. I still don't even know why it was a must that I go without the shoes that I needed, and drive back another day, to speak to the GM for the exchange, only for him to do nothing special, but say "Go ahead and exchange them". This store has NO EMPLOYEE STRUCTURE. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. PLAY TOO MUCH. Needs a mature assertive night manager, who doesn't try to fit in, in order to be liked. I use to love Family Dollar, but the company's staff has become a joke!!! Extremely disappointed ex-customer... SMH.

I go to the Family Dollar in Grand Ledge, MI, at least two or three times a day usually, and have been for a decade. I have never had a single bad experience in this time, until the new manager came. She's never been particularly helpful or friendly, but today was the last straw. I got my things, and went to get in line. While in line, I overheard her talking to another customer about someone with mental illness who physically touched her, and said something along the lines of how mentally ill people should not be allowed to rent rooms to people or have custody of their children, and there was NO EXCUSE for anyone to lay their hands on someone.

Now, I almost never let this sort of thing get to me, but I could not today. As a mentally/emotionally ill person, I felt I needed to stand up for someone who wasn't there to stand up for herself. Instead of not engaging, like any manager shouldn't, she bawled me out over interrupting the conversation. She should have asked me to leave, to be honest, because she triggered me so hard I was shaking, barely able to contain my anger, but I did. I was trying to explain to her that with Schizophrenia, you aren't always in control of your actions, there's nothing you can do to stop them sometimes, and we simply do NOT always remember the incident, much less we did it in the first place. She argued with me for almost ten minutes, before blurting out, "I'm bi-polar, so don't tell me I don't understand!" (Which was possibly the most unprofessional way to cover one's ass when they know it's in a sling, btw.)

I replied that I, too, am bi-polar, but that she simply does NOT understand what it's like to be Schizophrenic. I asked for the manager's number. Her first reply was, very disdainfully, "I AM, the manager." I rolled my eyes and told I wanted HER manager's number... she said she didn't have her personal phone, so she didn't know it- you know, as if it isn't posted anywhere in the store. So I took Corporate's number to file the complaint, and as I left, I told her if I saw her working, I would turn right around and walk back out, and that they'd be losing my business. Know what she yelled? "Fine, I don't care!"

I've been in customer service since I was 18; I'm almost 44. No customer service employee should treat people this way, despite how they act. Customers are not always right, but we have to treat them as if they are, in a respectful manner. When I could no longer do that, I removed myself from the workforce entirely- which is apparently what she needs to do, seeing how her bi-polar is causing her to be combative with customers.

The case of water was 4 dollars which is 2 dollars higher than my local store. I picked up hand towels which were 5 dollars. As I looked around for 15 mins. I decided it was not worth buying the dish towels at this store and it would be cheaper to actually go to the dollar general store around the corner.

As I opened the door to leave a I guess manager smoking his nasty smokes said "Mam come with me back into the store." I said okay. He made me follow him to I guess his office and started to blame me for stealing the dish towels. No cop showed up and he would not look at the video footage. I showed him my pockets of my blight jacket under my hat. And flipped my jacket sleeves inside out. I showed him where I put back the kitchen towels in the same spot I found them. Due to I am not the kind of person to just throw it in another spot. He was not polite and still as I felt he thought I stole I gave him my ID and my phone number.

When I left all I could think is how strange he pulled me into that office and how he could have raped me. Why did he not call the police if he felt you stole and since he had no cause to search me how creepy it was. When returning home I did report this incident to the local police station. I went into the Family Dollar Store on Bristol Road in Burton Michigan today. Mind you I go in that particular store very seldom due to the fact every single time I go in there I have a bad experience. Today topped it off. They were obviously doing stock. There was a bunch of containers in the aisle way pushed off to the side. No big deal but my purse caught the lid of one of the containers sitting there and I knocked it over. Another customer said "oh that's nice" with all that stuff out there. I said "yeah it's always nice walking through a bunch of crap." The manager an older ** woman pops out from another aisle and says "well if you would have asked I would have moved it out of the way" and in not very pleasant tone. Due to my past experience with this particular woman I responded "I'm sorry. Was I speaking to you. I was speaking to the other lady not you."

She then continues to confront me and keeps continuing to run her mouth and being snotty and rude. I've then answer "aren't you the manager?" She responds "why yes. I am." I said "wow. I've never seen a manager be so confrontational with a customer." And then she continue to argue with me. I said "every time I come in the store I have a problem. I am so sick of it," and I walked away, get up to the register and I had two separate orders. One was going on my debit card. The first total came to $14 and some change NSF popped up on the machine stating non sufficient funds so I asked him to take off the car air freshener. He voted off the car air freshener then the total came to I'm not even sure what that total was but then my card come back declined. I was like "what the hell." I said "okay take the Febreze air freshener off there," and then the new Total was down under $9 and some change.

My card said declined again so I apologize and I stepped aside and I called my card and it was telling me I had a zero balance. I was like what the heck. That wasn't right. I just had money deposited on there today. So I told the guy again I said "I'm sorry. I'll have to come back later." I left, got a hold of my card which is U.S. Bank and there was a $10.97 charge from Family Dollar. So I turn around, go back up there and have to deal with this rude manager. She was being pleasant this time around because there was a whole line full of people waiting to be taken care of as there always is in that store and she asked the assistant manager to help who wasn't very pleasant either. She had a very nasty scowl on her face like I was just causing her so many problems because she had to call corporate to find out what if my card was charged.

They're trying to tell me that it was not charged that it was voided out in that they have to do an investigation. Okay that's fine. That's great. This never should have happened in the first place. That cashier should have known what was going on with my card. If they charge me the 10.97 and only wanted the balance then that's what he should have told me and not sit there and let me run my card three separate times. The only way to dispute the charge with my card is I have to report the card stolen and then I'm out of a card for 7 to 14 days and I have to wait at least 30 days for their investigation. Your manager supposedly put in a dispute at your office your corporate office and then I get on the phone with a guy and try to give him my information and then try to tell him the situation. By this time I'm absolutely livid and he hangs up on me.

I don't know where are you people take your training for customer service but this is not it. Not to mention I just read some reviews with other people having issues with their debit card being charged when it shouldn't have been. Is that what you guys are into. Is ripping off your customers and stealing money is that how you make your money. I'm a single mother with two children. That was my child support money. That was the only $11 I had to my name. I needed toilet paper and other things for my home that I now do not have the money to buy and had to go borrow money to buy toilet paper because you people don't know what you're doing. And then the fact that I can't get in touch with anybody to make this complaint in person is absolutely ridiculous. You just lost another customer. I will no longer shop at any Family Dollar. Thank you for stealing my money.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use your debit card with this company. I normally shop there at least 5 times a week for the convenience of it being near by home. On the particular night I had to stand in line for 20 minutes. There was only one cash register open and the line had formed down almost to the front door entrance which made it hard for customers to come in and out. The cashier was very rude to a customer that she mistakenly charged her for out the same item four times. When it was finally my turn she rung up my items and I inserted my card for payment. Because it took the debit machine a little while to say approved the cashier claimed to suspended my transaction. She sent down to the next register where she asked me to enter my pin and card again. I asked her would it debit my account twice because I made a huge purchase and I didn't want my account debited twice. She assured that it wouldn't.

The next day as I'm checking my account to make sure that all transactions had cleared I see that of course my account was debited twice. I immediately notified customer server and the representative was very nonchalant about my account being debited twice and said "we will process a reversal which will take 3-4 days to be refunded into your account." It has now been almost two weeks and I still have not received my money. Now whenever I call they tell me it is processing. This has inconvenienced my family and they have done nothing to try to return my funds. I'm never shopping at any of their stores again. I'll be taking a couple extra minutes to go to Dollar General or Walmart from this day forward.

I encourage you to not buy any toys from Family Dollar that is battery operated because you will not get your money back if you try and return it even if it's not working properly! I bought a Falcon drone. My husband try flying it with my daughter. It didn't work like it was supposed to. I went back. I spoke Mgr. I told her that they tried flying it and did not work properly so she said to bring it in and when I did she said I was unable to return it because it was damaged. I told her before taking it what had happened. She handed it back to me and I told her to give me a new one then because this one was not working properly. I preferred store credit because I didn't want to deal with this happening again. She said no and handed me another one. I was totally upset. I will never buy toys from there again!!! BEWARE!

Ms. Asaneth ** (cashier), and Mr. Carlos ** (Manager), were inept or incapable of counting $4.00 in dimes for a Gatorade, and 2 sodas. They keep claiming it has to be in rolls and refused service because inability to count. This young lady exudes loathsome for her job, since the store opened. I asked the manager in English and in his native tongue Spanish to show where in the Family Dollar Manual does it state $1.00 in dimes have to be in a roll.

Apparently they would rather make excuses from their busy time of one customer in the whole entire store than to count one dollar in dimes. I claim race discrimination. I claim the poorest customer service of any store I've been to and that is why the Family Dollar Franchise is declining nationwide. The company needs to screen their owners that are buying into their franchise and screen their staff better to know if they even want to be there or just waste space. The dumbing down of America is what is happening in your stores. However, I won't let this happen in my community. The owner I believe is Carlos ** 915-260-4744, 8 am - 3 pm.

This complaint is to address the less than stellar customer service I received this morning at approximately 9:00 a.m.at the Family Dollar location located in New Orleans, La. located on 4525 Old Gentilly Rd. When I entered the store I proceeded directly to the frozen foods section since I had seen some advertised products in a weekly mailing earlier that morning. Once on that particular aisle, two individuals, a gentlemen who appeared to be a vendor and one of your "star" employees Ms. ** (whose last name is unbeknownst to me, because it was not visible on her name-tag, was standing on the end of the frozen food aisle talking. After two or three minutes of me perusing the frozen food cases on one end of the aisle Ms. ** asked if "I needed anything." To which I replied that "No, thank you. I was just looking."

After a few more minutes perhaps less than three, I proceeded to walk around another side aisle to get to the other end of the frozen food section where the gentleman and Ms. ** were standing not wanting to disturb or interrupt them from what they were in the middle of doing. Once I approached the end of the aisle I went down to get to the opposite end of the frozen section they were on. Ms. ** turned her head to acknowledge me. I again stated that I was just looking to see what was available. With that being said, half of the shelf in the middle was empty. After a small glance to see what was on the opposite end, before I could even have a chance to fully look to see what was on the shelves, Ms. ** took it upon herself to make the statement that "If I was not buying anything, I could just leave." I was flabbergasted and replied "excuse you."

She then stated that "I was making her uncomfortable by standing there" looking to see what was available to buy. I then stated that I was highly offended by her remarks, a paying customer. Took out the money in my pocket and told her that I could buy any and everything in the store that I wanted. At that point another taller young lady, who later I was told was the manager on duty at the time, walked up to see what was going on. I also mentioned to Ms. ** that I was hungry just like she was because I realized she was eating a bowl of Top Ramen noodles while working on the clock when the entire situation transpired.

I then asked for her name to call corporate headquarters in order to make a complaint and at that moment took out my cell phone out of my pocket. Then I realized I could take a picture of Ms. ** to capture as proof to verify the incident. At which point Ms. ** proceeded to "technically" assault me... By attempting to snatch my cell-phone out of my hand when she realized I was taking a picture. Once that happen, I addressed the manager and asked if there was a corporate number I could call. The manager and Ms. ** basically ignored me, turned around, and proceeded to walk toward the office part of the store with Ms. ** cursing me out at the same time.

They then locked themselves behind a closed door and never came back out in which I had to bring the situation to the lady at the front register. She was neither helpful nor assisting also, stating that she couldn't do anything about the situation and that I could not go beyond a certain point where the other employees locked themselves in. Needless to say, after that transpired I totally disregarded making the purchase I originally intended to make, as I was so taken back by what happened. I actually ended up getting the number from an upstanding young individual who was simply filling out an application at that time but witnessed everything that transpired. He was actually more helpful than everyone else in the entire store who worked there...

While I have been a loyal customer of the Family Dollar chain for decades, as well as that particular location, I have never had a more embarrassing and humiliating experience in any other public franchise in my entire life. While Ms. ** stated earlier that I made her uncomfortable by standing there a few minutes while looking and deciding what to purchase, she, along with the help of the other associates working at the time in that location, made it EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE for myself. It's hard to believe that an individual with Ms. ** character and attitude could represent and be employed to work in any customer relations environment. I would just hope the necessary actions would be taken so that she does not ruin anyone else's experience as a consumer, and your business model and practice as a whole.

I would also appreciate if this complaint be forwarded through the proper channels to reach the level of executive offices of Family Dollar and the CEO himself, Mr Levine, so that they may be directly informed of the incident in order to make an appropriate assessment and judgement regarding the incident. Also, any response by such faculty that represent them is encouraged and welcomed. Here is several photos I managed to take at the time the situation occurred of the Family Dollar employee Ms. **, who I was so highly disrespected and insulted by.

On Thanksgiving Morning around 10AM, at the Family Dollar Store # 10976, in Rising Star, TX. I was assaulted by the Manager for being a cop's mother. Went to counter to pay for items when the store manager asked me if my son was now a cop here in town. I replied "yes, when he suddenly grabbed the items out of my hand, reached over the counter and shoved my buggy away from me, while he yelled that my business was not welcomed there! Stunned, I asked if he was refusing me service because my son was a cop here in town? He yelled back, "YES I AM!" I have reported him and incident to both the District Manager and our local sheriff's dept.

When he yanked the items from my hand, it resulted in a cut on my right thumb knuckle. Since the incident, I have been afraid to leave my home, when I do, I try to make sure I am not alone. I certainly don't go into that store anymore. I did have a witness step forward who gave a statement of the entire incident.

The sheriff's off has the video, conveniently with no audio, and DA's office has witness statement.

Days later, the same manager approached my landlord's wife and chastised her for renting to us. I do not understand what this man has against cops, but for him to take his hate out on me, was very hurtful, humiliating frightening to the point I can't hardly go anywhere without someone to be with me. This has disrupted my own business as well as my own security.

For months my sister and my 3 year old son have been treated rudely by Pam at the Loysville PA store. Today after being on the road most of the day we stopped at Family Dollar and they went in while I waited in the car. He was cranky so she brought him to me and went in to pay for the items which included a toy car that was sitting on top of the other items at the register. When my sister came out and checked the bags the car was missing and was not on the receipt. She went back in to get it and was told it wasn't there. When my sister informed her it was on top of the other items Pam said, “Maybe if he learned to behave he'd get what he wanted.” Well Pam neither my son's behavior or what I choose to purchase for him is any of your business and how dare you make either that comment or decision.

I heard she and my sister yelling as my sister exited the store. I went in and asked another employee to get the manager. That's when I was informed she is the manager. This compounded my anger. I got the corporate number and her info from the employee and reported this to corporate. I was then told the unprofessional behavior would be investigated and the outcome was confidential. They advised me of online coupons on their site to help keep me as a customer. I'm sorry but that is beyond condescending. The very idea that I would overlook such behavior for a coupon is insulting. I have no issues with other employees and have great service from everyone but her. Want to keep your customers? Don't hire people like Pam. Hopefully this will be dealt with but I have to say seeing will be believing. Again this is only one of numerous incidents over several months. Enough.

I visited one of the local Family Dollar retails (located on Fulton Road, Cleveland, OH)... And trying to pick up some Christmas gifts for my grandchildren. And was fairly disappointed in the selection of dolls that represent diversity. Of about 60 dolls, I could count on one hand, the number of dolls that were **, Hispanic or Indian. In an age, where race relations is still a sore topic, I'm appalled that Family Dollar do not properly represent a customer base that is inclusive to providing a diverse selection of products. I would've liked to purchase a doll that was a different color outside of **, but because the selection was very low... I found myself thinking that this is not a store that I would want further support with any purchases. It's Christmas time... for God's sakes. They should have a better selection than just ** dolls... Shame on you!!!

I am a regular customer but will never come back! :-) This rudeness towards ** woman is typical here in rio Grande valley however I have never been treated this badly and humiliated by any other store here and trust me I have been treated very badly! The cashier working at 5:22 pm on nov 29 really needs to be fired. First she wouldn't speak English with me. Second I asked her to help me find a different item for a girl, not a boy. She said, "If it's not there we don't have," ok but it was with toys and buy one 50'off next. She pointed to toys as there... however as she responded as I asked if it was gonna count as 50 off - she said no toy only.

Following this I had three packs of sodas and many many bags and I asked her, "Please help me find help out or a buggy because I am ill and can't carry all this out." She said "we don't have" everyone else women of rgv along with her laugh as I have to carry a little out and drop at front door outside and as I am coming back and forth finally a man and little boy began to help me!! I am sick of these people. They come from Mexico and get our jobs and management prefers them but fails to think about citizens for life because we can not speak Spanish. Another issue. I should not have to learn as I live in texas.

I am not sure if it's just called the Family Dollar Store, only know Worland Wyoming is small and a bad place, and no, I will never go there. After my son got put in jail for nothing!! He walked in, and got kicked out!! He even made a video of it, and told them "I am recording this from across the street!!" He asked why he was being kicked out!! I guess it was about a video. It was not mean, rude, or nasty, just a video, as he, yes, has borderline schizophrenia. All he wanted was an electric blanket!!

He after he was kicked out was told the police will be contacted. He was in jail a long time, and no one told him or me what he did and yes, I tried to call down to Worland several times. Now the Dollar Store has nothing, I know of to do, with why he went to jail. Wish my son, I do believe, who was renting from this lady, who lied, at least 2-3 times, about everything would have just up and left but poor thing is staying in a shed. He has no home and all he owns in this world is in this shed!!

My son is disabled and had to after he got kicked out from this lying ladies house who said my son was stalking her then all of a sudden is stalking her 17 year old son, instead!! Then, I heard, after all those lies it had to do with a video. But why the Dollar Store kicked him out is beyond my imagination!! And him being my son and I his mother why could they not tell me a thing?? I asked the jailer. I got jack, and the only good thing is he is finally out, with fines. The jailer was rude to me. My son is still homeless living in a shed!!

Family Dollar at 89th and Stony Island hires waste removal companies that illegally pick up trash during non business hours at 3 or 4 AM. This store is in a residential area so it disturbs the entire block of residents. I have consistently asked for them to change their waste/disposal hours and function at the time that the law states that they are allowed and they have rebuffed my concerns. Family Dollar operates like a low level discount store and practice the same level of service to the neighborhood patrons that have asked them to politely change their practices and respect the law.
