The majority of the time I go to purchase an item on sale I don’t get the discounted price. So I’ve started setting my items on the counter and at that time I tell the checker what price it should be, the cashier always says it will show the discount at the end of the transaction. I wait until all my items have been scanned and the cashier still can’t tell if the products were discounted. I think Dollar General does this on purpose because they have to be making a fortune from the customers that don’t notice. I was ripped off $1.35 tonight and I told the cashier the price and she couldn’t tell if everything was discounted. Very irritating! Start checking your receipts.

I was just in the location on West Gannon Street in Zebulon and this was my customer service experience. I was next in line behind a women that was purchasing a large number of Garden Supplies that were 90% off. Well she had close to 50 items and had a lot of questions due to the way it was merchandised. They said it was confusing because they had no room (dollar general choice not mine or the women with the questions).

We were there long enough for other people to come up behind me and put their stuff down and leave due to the wait and the fact Dollar General had staffed the store so they could not open another register. I put my stuff down right where the others did and as I am walking out I get a snide remark "SIR!! I will put those back for you...". I stopped for a moment and then said, "Well if you had another register open this would not happen." She barked at me that she was the only one there and threaten to call the police out of nowhere. I told her I had done nothing wrong and to go ahead. She then told me "Get out" in a very nasty tone.

Now look... I know you may have been frustrated but you should not take it out on a customer. You cannot blame us for not wanting to wait on a very lengthy purchase where confusion was caused by Dollar General overloading a store, We as customers had nothing to do with that so stop barking at us. Employees of Dollar General in Zebulon it is not our fault they short staffed you and you should not bark at us because we do not want to wade thru what the corporation you work for has caused. Stop being mad to customers and take your issue to corporate... Edit: I just checked. I spent $173.12 there in Sept and was over $100 the month of October but that will never happen again. You were my go-to place for dog food, laundry det, and house cleaning stuff. No more. Will also be avoiding Family Dollar since they are owned by Dollar Store.

I live in Lehigh Acres, FL and there's a Dollar General close to my home off of Gretchen Avenue and besides 1 or 2 managers, there's always some young female with a HORRIBLE attitude at the register. They never know an answer to help you with your shopping and they act like they completely hate their job. I went tonight and there were 2 registers open but as soon as I get to the register the lady walks away and the person at register 2 yelled out and said, "Come to this register," which I had to walk past her to get to register 1, it made no sense. She puts my stuff in a bag and throws it on the counter and was just overall miserable. I love the prices at DG stores but the attitudes of employees will keep me away.

I am a customer at Dollar General on Loganville Hwy in Bethlehem GA, the manager name is Jeremy **, I am in this store 4 or 5 times a week, I would like to let y'all know about a cashier her name is Wanda **, she always ask her customer how they are doing, she always greet customer when they walk in the door. When you ask her where something is she will walk and show you where it is, she will get you thru the lines real fast, always have a smile on her face and she has said to me how much she loves her job and customer. On February 7 2019 she lost her husband to cancer and she is raising two grandchildren on her own, I think she needs a raise, also I think the owner of the store needs to know what a good person she is, she is a blessing to all of her customer.

I went to the Dollar General store for Temptations cat treats, was going to use a coupon I had gotten in the mail. I got to the counter with my coupon and the rest of the items I intended to purchase. When the cashier rang up the treats I handed over my coupon for redemption. I was then informed that unless it was a buy one get one free coupon I could not redeem it. I purchased the rest of the items I had in my cart but was not able to get the treats. This particular store is located in Wittensville KY store #20353. Needless to say I will not be shopping there again.

Went to the Cedar Springs Dollar General today. Was NOT impressed. Couldn't maneuver around the aisles due to too much unstocked product. Asked the store manager for help looking for a product and got ignored. Was sighed at by the cashier due to the large amount of groceries I was purchasing. The manager mumbled something under "her" breath about how "she" couldn't get anything done because "she" ALWAYS was getting interrupted by customers. I will not recommend this store to friends and family. I'd rather recommend the store in Sparta or on Leonard Street before this one.

You spend nearly $100 and get home with only a hand full of merchandise,,, and every time I try to use the weekly coupon the cashier's always tell me it's too late even though I presented it before ring up time. And the taxes on my receipt are always over $7.... They have lost me as a customer for good!

I was at the Dollar General in McKean PA and at the checkout, my receipt on my $70 order didn’t come out. The cashier tried to print it, then her supervisor tried to print it out. But it didn’t work. They had no solution and didn’t seem to care. The cashier asked “Why did I need it, was I going to return something?” I said "I don’t know, it’s a lot of stuff, I hope not, but how do I know?" The supervisor stayed behind the wall behind the cash register area & didn’t come back out to help. He just listened without doing anything, I guess. The cashier just stared at me with zero solution & said sorry.

I couldn’t believe how unhelpful and uncaring they were. They didn’t know what to do, I understand that, but they didn’t try to fix the problem & then acted like it didn’t matter & it was MY problem. I’ll never go there again & I’ll be sure to tell my friends, neighbors & clients about it. Also, I really hope that I was charged properly because I have NO WAY OF KNOWING! I also hope that I don’t have to return anything, because I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF DOING IT!

This makes a few times I've been in there or my daughters have that he forgets to give our change back then when we go back in to get it he'll say, "Oh I'm sorry. Today just not my day." Well if it's not his day everyday then he shouldn't be working as a cashier. There is this one day that my daughter went in that he unplugged the whole system and then told a manager on duty that his system went down, and when he's working his lines back up that you got to stand in line for at least 20 minutes or longer. I don't know the manager at this store but apparently you need to get a new one cause he/she is never there and he/she hires the worst people ever that basically knows nothing about what they are doing. I realized after I had entered the store that I had forgotten to bring their usual weekly "$5 off $25" coupon on the receipt from the purchase I made earlier in the week. There were lots of good bargains to choose from, including clearance items in the toy department. When I got to the register I explained to the cashier that I had forgotten my coupon. She cheerfully said she'd extend the $5 discount anyway, seeing that it was a big purchase over $25. Checkout was smooth, and the sale/clearance items came up at the proper posted prices. There was no haggling, no having to try to convince anyone that sale items were indeed on sale and no having to take an employee by the hand and lead them to an aisle to show them where a sale sign is posted! What a relief! And what a pleasure to be able to buy items at reasonable prices for the actual prices as posted!

I give my best regards and thanks to the management and staff at the store for conducting business in an honest, competent and customer-friendly way! I realize that this level of service and cooperation with the customer may not reflect what goes on at other DG stores. (I've had more than one unpleasant experience at some other locations.) I hope that what I have experienced most recently is a sign of overall improvement at DG stores and a sign of better things to come for customers.

While shopping for hair products on June 7, 2019 I kept being watched. I was finally asked if I needed help and I replied no. After buying my items and attempting to leave the store the alarm went off. The associate/manager apologizes and takes two items out of my bag and runs them over the scanner again. In my second attempt to leave the store the alarm goes off again. “Misty” the associate/manager asks if she can look through my purse and I told her that she could not. I stated that I didn’t take anything and that she is going to have to review the cameras. That is when she said she was going to call the cops because she didn’t believe me.

I stood there as she called the cops and stated that she had a “shoplifter” at the store who was a “** female.” I was disguised and then said, “Why didn’t you say that you have a possible shoplifter because I told you to that I didn’t take anything and to check the cameras?” She then said that she heard what I said and that she didn’t believe me. I then asked, "If I stole something why would I still be here?" That is when she said she’s seen it happen several times. At that point I said I wouldn’t know because I don’t steal! I made a phone call to let someone know what was going on and while I’m on the phone Misty jumps in my phone conversation and says “Oh we have the tapes.”

A few minutes later while I’m talking Misty tried to hand me my bag and says, “You can go.” I said, "Excuse me?" That is when she said, "You can go" and place my bag on the floor next to the door. I said, “No I’m going to wait for the cops.” Misty then said that the cops weren’t coming. At that moment a gentlemen walks from the back as if he was actually upset. I asked if he was a manager and he stated he was a General Manager. I told him that I was waiting for the cops. He asked, "What cops?" I replied, "Well didn’t Misty call the cops?" He simply replied “I don’t know.” I said, "Well can you ask her?" He asked Misty if she called the cops and she said they weren’t coming.

I then asked his name and he told me it was Chris. I then asked for the name of the person who was above him. He gave me a name of someone named David. He spoke quickly so I didn’t catch the last name. He said it would never reach him though because he was actually the one who handled all complaints and that the situation would be handled on the back end. That is when I stated that Misty owed me an apology. Chris said the he was apologizing on her behalf as she continued to ring out customers as if nothing had happened.

I also told him that I wasn’t picking up my bag that she put on the floor like I was a dog. Chris then picked up the bag and handed it to me. I then asked Chris if he had ever been accused of stealing? He replied no. I stated neither have I and that my first time being wrongly accused of something so belittling. I let him know that I asked her to check the cameras before calling the cops. I told him that he needs to inform his employees to check the cameras first before they accuse, embarrass and belittle people and I walked out of the store in utter disbelief.

Today I went & bought a few items, 7 to be precise, & when I got home I was missing one item. All of the other items were in one bag, food, hair color & makeup all in the same bag, everything except one package of Tuna Creations, and to top it off when I called 12 times every time I got a recording telling me they were busy serving other customers & to call back then it just hangs up. This has got to be the most unprofessional way to treat customers.

If i go back today I will probably be in jail, if a company that has as many stores as they do can't afford to have more than one person working then there's a problem somewhere, greed instead of service. Can't even have someone who can answer the damn phone or train their help to give the customers all their bags. They may be saving money by not having but one employee in the store, but their mistakes are costing the customers more money & time for their negligence.

I always go every couple of weeks and every single time I go there I find outdated products on their shelves which is ridiculous. 2 weeks ago when I was in there I found 5 outdated Miracle Whip in the plastic squeeze bottle now of them was from May 2018 so almost 1 year outdated. Then the time before that it was Clover Valley Graham crackers and like 3 boxes of them one of them was from 2017. Then yesterday I went there and purchased a container of cottage cheese mixups.

Well lo and behold I brought it home and ate about half of it and then noticed of course it was outdated by over 2 weeks which is disgusting. I was debating about eating some of it because when I opened the foil lid on it it kind of made a noise but then I thought but it smells okay so I tasted it and it was okay. This was all before I noticed it was outdated. Well last night my stomach was upset and had diarrhea so I'm afraid that it was from the cottage cheese. I've complained to them before about this and even took outdated items to the counter but it doesn't seem to be working to get them to check their products on their shelves. I just kept it cool as my baby is a stunning woman and many men stare when they first see her. It was only when we walked to the checkout line that this employee decided to run over and open a second register Right when my lady and I were next in line.

As we stood there together he flirted and smiled at her while ringing her up. We were standing there together but I needed to purchase something separately. He handed her a receipt, turned the light off and walked away as I placed my item on the counter. He was just being petty and childish. He rang up one person and then left. Now I had to get back in line while my baby waited for me, ice cream melting. As we finally sat down in the car I looked up and saw this creepy guy staring out the window at us trying to see what type of automobile we drove. Just a straight dead stare. No facial expression. There was plenty for him to do inside the store since it was almost closing time and they only have two workers. Somehow I kept myself from showing him my middle fingers.

My baby and I have not been back to that store. The whole experience was very scary and shocking frankly. He had a creepy schizophrenic stare. Like he just didn't get it. It was not normal. This employee already had an issue with me prior to getting hired at Dollar General, but she still brought it to work whenever I when come in there to shop. The very first incident was when I walked up the register (I had no idea she was working there at first. Just saw the light was on) and when this employee saw me, she said "I don't like her," turned her register light off and walked away. One of the managers were on duty and she did absolutely nothing when me and the employee had a small argument. An employee was on BREAK but had to clock in to ring me up since the other employee wouldn't assist me and the manager wouldn't assist me for some reason. It was unreal.

I've visited the store 4 more times since that incident and the employee would always use profanity loud when she saw that I was in earshot of her and say indirect remarks. I've reported this incident multiple times and on Thursday, my daughter talked to the General Manager about it again and he assured her that he would take care of it. He ended up banning me and my daughter from the store just to protect the employee since they are friends and the general manager is actually MARRIED to the Chief of the Latta Police Department which I think played a role in them protecting this rude employee. Don't ever shop here at this location if you expect to be treated fairly when one of their rude employees disrespect you. I'll never shop at Dollar General again and I will be writing a final letter to corporate before I try to bring this to the news.

However, the 'manager' pointed out to me the fine print on the lower edge of the back of the ad saying that "All products, styles and colors shown may not be available in all stores" and "No rain checks available". In other words, the ad was a worthless enticement. The company can advertise anything and not deliver as they please.

Wakefield NE 68784 - When I learned we were to get a Dollar General store in our town I was excited, however, it has turned out to be a huge disappointment! This store is always cluttered with carts full of cardboard or merchandise! The shelves and aisles are in disarray! There is frequently only one employee in the store which is ludicrous to think one employee can be expected to do everything! I have been told by an employee that corporate management will only allow a certain number of hours and one employee most of the time! This store gets a lot of customers but could have so many more if they would take care of their staff and store! I pray that Corporate Management will 'get a clue' and realize their net gain will be greatly improved by taking care of their employees and in turn their customers!

The prices posted can be for a size they never carry. Racks of items with up to % off. The entire rack will have very few markdown items. A "clearance" section will be full of items that are full price. OBVIOUS INTENTIONAL FRAUD!!!

I got out of line to get away from the dog. Then she came around the store with the dog again. The store clerk did not ask her if she had a license to bring that dog in. The lady did not care who she upset over the dog. The cashier looked confused as to what to do. There was no reason why the young man could not take the dog outside while the lady did her shopping. About two nights ago I went in to do a little shopping and while I was looking around a store associate greeted me while offering her assistance if I needed help finding anything. I thanked her and finished up my shopping. When I went to cash out I quickly noticed I had splurged and did not have enough money on me to pay for everything. So we began voiding some items. The same associate who had greeted me earlier was showing me other items that were basically the same as mine just a bit cheaper, trying to bring my total down to a comfortable number. I was very thankful on top of being embarrassed for holding up the rest of the store as long as I had. So then I paid cash for about half, a gift card, and then when I went to slide my debit card it, of course, was not working either, apparently, I had locked my account up earlier that day and was not aware.

I was ready to melt right there and sincerely apologetic. Yet the associate just smiled remaining as calm as could be, making me feel much better as if it was not that big of a deal. Although me working in customer service for 15 years knows that it does gets frustrating when customers come in and not exactly have it together. So then she went to the back and came back with cash in her hand and paid my remaining balance of $5 or $6. I insisted that it was unnecessary, and she told me during the holidays she saw a few acts of kindness from people just to pass it along. I told her I would bring the money back the next day and she said it was unnecessary. I just wanted to take the time out to tell her Thank you again. She was great at her job, and I wish there was some type of award I could give her. She damn well deserves it. Thank you, Stephanie, for being so genuine and a great employee. The dark-skinned female sending customers out her line to wait on her friends. I do not think that is fair. Children should stay at home. I really hate to go to that store but I say to myself maybe they have gotten better but to be disappointed they haven't. The dark-skinned female says "I don’t care nothing about it. I works for Nissan". My question is, "Why are you in Dollar General with POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE". The light-skinned Male had his light off at the register so how will the customer know that he were working at the time. This store is so sad.

I have starting going to different Dollar General just to see who has great customer service. McDowell road in Jackson MS and Siwell road in Clinton MS has great customer service. The cashiers acknowledged that you have enter into the store. They do not have loud rap music playing as if they are at home or at a club. Their store are clean and their workers cares about their customers. Cooper Road in Jackson MS is a hot mess, from the store all junkie to the worker o Lynn there for a paycheck and can care less about the customers. Sad but true. "I told the cashier that that didn't make any sense" at all, to why she would refuse to sell to me for not having proper identification, but have no problem selling to other customers without proper ID. The lady behind me asked if she could purchase the item for me, and she was told no by the cashier. I asked to speak to the store manager, and the same cashier said that she was the manager. And that she would not ring up anything without me showing her proper ID, because it was company policy.

This complaint is about your store in Rensselaer, Indiana 47878. I had not been to your store in my town in about 3 years and I got the “we don’t give a **” feeling as soon as I walked in the door, because on every cart that people were pushing around including mine, the wheels were squeaking like crazy (and I mean on every cart). You have no idea how disrespectful stuff like this is, because it is a big middle finger to your customers and it says “We just don’t give a ** here, because we are too lazy to even oil the cartwheels”.

So I go around the store and put several items in my cart. When I go to check out, the persons puts my can of “Fix a Flat” in the same bag as one of my 2 liter bottles of soda. I was totaled appalled by this and I took the can of “Fix a Flat” out of the bag and asked for a separate bag for my automotive item. I also had to put it in the bag myself, which really ** me off. As I was leaving the store I had a feeling that I was not given the sale price for the trash bags I bought. When I got home, sure enough I was charged the full price, not the sale price, even though the sale price was posted on your shelf. By this time my blood was about to boil and I called your store and told them a head full.

I do not intend to go back to your store, in my town, ever, because of the described above problems and other things like, all of the prices on your food are way too high and the prices on most of your 2 liter soda is outrageous. We have a Save a Lot in our town, that I go to all the time, and let me tell you they “beat Dollar General‘s ass” on prices every day, on both grocery and dry goods. In closing, I really have to ask, is the manager at your store in my town just as much a lazy worthless slug as the employees there, because it looks like nobody there could care less.

Saying management is terrible talking trash to the employees. The most disturbing thing I’ve seen and to be honest it had me very shocked that a person could act like that. The new store manager they have in there now is just amazing. She works hard. I see her in there every day. I go in sometimes I wonder if she ever goes home. Even the other employees has said she pulls 14 to 25 hours in just a day. Says she work and overnight and then stays for more than half the day. I’m sorry but I don’t think I could do that. She seems very dedicated to this store.

Other customers have to understand the stores going to get worse before it can get better. She might have to get rid of the employees that aren’t doing their job and get new people in there that want to work and do their job and help the store manager out. The store really is changing. Now when I walk in there like today I got a welcome to Dollar General. I was told about the Christmas sales going on. I was asked if I needed help with anything and the same girl that made me feel welcomed checked me out and made sure all of the prices from the sale was correct. My son and I stopped in at a Dollar General store on Spartanburg Hwy on Aug.31, 2018 for just a couple of items. We stopped going to this particular store a couple of years ago because it was always so crowded and messy. However, on this day we were in a hurry, so we were just going in to purchase our few items and move on with our day. Just as we were getting ready to go to the checkout counter, a policeman yelled at my son and proceeded to put his arms behind his back and parade him to the front of the store. Neither of us had a clue what was happening.

Apparently, a previous customer had told the girl at the checkout counter that she saw "someone" putting items in a Dollar General bag. NO ONE in the store actually saw what happened. Anyway, the police were called, and because my son was on that side of the store was accused of stealing! He had an open shopping basket with his two items that he had some in for in plain view and even offered to be searched. I asked why they didn't look at the security camera footage, and was not given an answer.

After all this public humiliation, the store employee told the policeman to ban him and two other ladies from the store for good! I have requested that the video footage is saved to be reviewed, but have learned that I shouldn't be surprised if that never happens. I have talked with a district manager and customer service at the corporate office, and received a very blasé attitude from both. Apparently, this is an ongoing problem with Dollar General. The area leadership for Pinellas Park/St Pete/Clearwater FL is outstanding. Their responsiveness is incredible. During the last year, I twice submitted "feedback" as is routinely requested on retail outlets' cash register receipts (something I very rarely do). The first time I reported that a popular item I was hoping to purchase (store brand bottled water) was not on the shelf. Ever since, I have noticed fully stocked shelves - perhaps a coincidence and my feedback never read, but I noticed.

More recently, I shared the incorrect application (at least from my point of view) of a discount policy. That afternoon, I received a voice message from the area manager conveying apologies and inviting me back to the store. This was totally unexpected and extremely impressive. This is how to create "customers for life". To wrap up, this is a company that "listens" and takes action. My feeling is that my modest feedback contributed to their training, merchandising, and customer service. Well done!

I returned to store with Lantern, battery and receipt to get even exchange. Manager opened another, tested my exchange and it didn't work. Put the new battery in and it worked. Larry, the manager refused to give me an even exchange. He is definitely focused on profit and not customer satisfaction. He suggested I buy a replacement battery. I escalated to Dollar General Customer Service Inquiries. Will see what happens.

She went to the phones with me and pulled the phone out and told me that this one specifically was not a smartphone so I purchase the phone got home and guess what it was a smartphone. So I took it back to the store to try to get my money back and she told me that she cannot do that because once it was activated you cannot get your money back. If that was the case why did she guarantee me that the phone was not a smartphone. I will never ever go back to Dollar General again.

Just so happens, it was turned to the back and I noticed the date, 06 JAN 2018?! I was completely shocked! I swear I thought I was seeing wrong! No, my eyes and the date was correct. I was not going back over into M.D. just for a candy bar. Plus, the receipt was long gone.

I live 40 miles one way from the Dollar General store. So when I have a sour carton of milk it does not always pay to drive back in and exchange it. One time I did make the trip just an hour after I had bought the gallon of milk. The same girl was there, she knows me and did remembered me being there earlier. Her attitude was not good when I walked in with a carton of milk and of course she first wanted a receipt. When I explained she did not give me one earlier she grew more intense and said she always does give receipts although, she never has to me unless I asked. She refused to replace it. I then made a comment about the saltine crackers always being hard as a rock and the week old bread they sell. At this time she was seeing red I guess because she started yelling saying she was gonna call the cops. I replied, please do. Well, of course she did not and by this time there was a line of about 10 people there behind me.

The thing is you do not save any money going there. The store is always so crowded with stocker carts you cannot get through the aisles. It is even more expensive on a lot of items than the bigger food stores in town. Small containers never a family size container of for instance, oatmeal and then they go to having the ones with packets! Charge nearly 4 bucks for a 12 packet box of oatmeal!?!

We do not have a Wal-Mart being a small town therefore I just elected to never going there again. It is poor service. Sour people as much as sour milk! They throw stuff in the super thin yellow plastic bags so fast and they are so heavy I rarely get to the door at the house without spilling half my things. Only one girl used to double bag and she only lasted a couple weeks with them. A friend of mine used to manage for them. They overworked her so bad the poor lady was worked to a frazzle she never ever had a day off. They are just a bad business, buying poor quality products and charging the same prices as anyone else.

The woman with dark hair that runs the place during the day is a horror. I have seen her belittle young employees in front of me as a customer in line. I have used my receipt to alert DG already to no avail. I had $68.00 worth of items in my cart Friday around 12:45 pm. I asked her after ringing me up if Pepsi sale price came off. Her response, “I don't know. Discount price doesn't show up.” I asked who would know. She responded, “Do you know original price?” No I was trusting signs. Then I proceeded to ask if Poptart 2 for $5 came off... again she snarls at me she doesn't know. "Discounts not itemized." she says. I endure her talking to me so disrespectfully, until I ask if Doritos sale price came off, since they were 2 for $5...

She proceeds to yell at me with cart full of bags and 4 customers (some my neighbors) in line no, “Why do you care you didn't even buy 2”. I most certainly did. That is when I lost my patience with her nastiness, which I have endured there from her before. (Which I alerted DG customer service) Left it all there and told her very calmly how mean she is and I'd prefer to purchase my $68 worth of items elsewhere. Her aim was to humiliate me. She did not. However, Kingshighway, Cherry Hill DG aisles always cluttered with boxes on pallets. Employees never stay. Store is close, but a mess. Manager thinks it is ok to disrespect customers who are in there regularly. After several complaints DG must think it is ok too.

We received a flyer in our mail several days earlier that stated a free tote bag and tumbler would be given to the first 200 adults that are 18 or older. Additionally, the flyer stated a free $10 gift card would be given to the first 50 adults that are 18 or older. My husband and I got in line around 7:25 am until we were allowed to enter the store at 8:00 am. Upon entering the store and receiving the $10 gift card, it was stated by the manager that the gift cards are 1 per family, which is not what was advertised.

My husband and I are thankful for the free $10 and we will happily spend that amount, but no more than $10. Many of the customers entering the grand opening were surprised to learn that the gift card allotment was 1 per family. My husband and I were really looking forward to having a store so conveniently close to where we live. However, the false advertising has turned us away from Dollar General stores for life.

So, me and my baby stroller up to the Dollar General on Crowder. I'll preempt this post by stating the FACT that Walgreens and other stores on tourist-laden Canal Street have folks walking in and around their stores WITH full sized backpacks the size of body bags, yet in other areas of the city, they all but football tackle you, harassing you to "leave your bag (which IS A PURSE AND SIZE OF NORMAL PURSES) at the front of the store that they don't watch, where like one time in Crowder Dollar General, when I left my bag (WITH prescriptions in it that I JUST PAID FOR AT WALGREENS next door) at the front, some crazy ** walked in and STOLE.

OBVIOUSLY, after having to wait a whole hour and a half for Dollar General to close, the security guard had to walk with me TO Walgreens to REBUY my prescriptions I need for my stomach and heart conditions. That was ** up in itself. So anyway, today at the Crowder Dollar General in New Orleans, we walked in to get a few groceries to lay a few days, and some ratchety ** stupid slave for his DG Massa came at me, PUT HIS HANDS ON ME, and had the nerve to call himself ordering me to leave my PURSE at the front.

Further, that male worker came at me with a bigger, country looking, "field hand, house slave, as IF they were gonna do something to me... THAT I COULD SUE THE WHOLE COMPANY FOR, and tell me, "look the cop right there, nah put your bag to the front". That dumb **. The COP, who later apologized for the DG employees, just asked me to wear my purse instead of having it on the stroller (because it is heavy), and that she understands. That's all they should and could have done as well. So, I put it on my shoulder (after all, it BEING A REAL PURSE) then took it right off and put it back on the baby stroller. What they gonna do? Push up and get their ** fired?

They got some nerve harassing me and putting their hands on me, trying to intimidate or threaten me or whatever they think they were accomplishing, especially when I saw 2 people, even with all those store cameras rolling, walk in the store and out with merchandise they stole, while their country ** goon-squad-wanna be DG SLAVES were harassing me about my purse!!! And, unlike a tourist who can fill their entire 'body bag' size full size backpacks and get on a plane, this is not my FIRST time BUYING from this store that I go every week and THEY ALL KNOW FULL WELL I DON'T AND HAVE NEVER STOLEN FROM! They need to STOP that mess. there are people out there that WOULDN'T STOP at just writing a complaint. Employees that out their hands on women should be dealt with and FIRED!!!

Tell me that they would see me in the parent pickup line. Call the police if I came to the store like I was bothering them.

But the most devious thing that was recently done was they had a friend at the local Food Lion to tell the manager that I was bothering people there. They told the meat department manager that I'd told them that I wanted him and his girlfriend became upset. Luckily, unbeknown to them I am a secret survey shopper for Food Lion. I am also married. Purchased a box-set DVD while out of town on 3/3/18. Upon giving, learned it was a duplicate, so agreed to return it to my local DG store on 3/6. The DVD was UNOPENED and in PERFECT FACTORY-SEALED condition when presented for return along with the ORIGINAL RECEIPT. Per their general return policy, this should have been a 'no brainer' and an easy return, given that the item had never opened and as being returned well within the 30-day limit. However, the cashier on duty flatly refused to return the item, simply stating, "We don't accept returns on videos."

Then she mumbled something about if it had been opened, and if they happened to have the same title, then they could. But we weren't complaining about a damaged item-- the item was merely a duplicate and in PERFECTLY SALE-WORTHY CONDITION. So we said, if you can't refund our money, may we have an in-store credit? She had to ask the manager on duty, who also flatly refused!

That obvious lack of generous customer service didn't jibe with prior experiences at DG stores, so I decided to telephone DG customer support to report the issue. A woman with a very thick foreign accent answered the phone. I could tell pretty quickly that she just had a list of questions to get through and wasn't particularly keyed into getting a problem solved! So as not to behave in a rash manner, I decided to open the conversation by asking for confirmation of my understanding of their return policy by asking her to list the "exceptions" to their general returns policy. That simple question apparently threw her a serious communications curveball, because she seemed to have difficulty in identifying any exceptions.

She was able to read the policy, but I don't think that she was adept enough at interpreting it. So, after she read a bit of the script and I confirmed that you can indeed return an item purchased at one store to another and that DVD's are not an exception to their up-to-90 day return policy, I then began to tell the story about how the local store refused the return. She, however, didn't seem to be listening too well, as she sounded like she was still stuck on reading details on the return policy and telling me that I "could return it to another store."

I said that I already understood that, and had tried that, and that was what I was reporting. She just repeated the same thing--again. That's when I said that it shouldn't be up to me as a customer to try to find another DG to return it to. Then I asked to speak with another agent. She said there was no way to transfer the call. Then I asked to speak with a call center manager. After a somewhat long hold, a manager did come on the line, only say, "Hello," and then it was back to the same agent, who then informed me that the manager was busy on another call. I said that I'd be willing to wait on hold to talk with her. The agent said, "No, you can't do that. You have to wait for her to call back." RIDICULOUS. I now have a new and very unfavorable view of DG stores.

I've been diagnose with major depression and anxiety disorder, so I was freaking out! No band aid, injury report or etc was offered to me. My husband actually had to purchase alcohol and band aids. The cashier pulled out the box to find another razor blade...

Skipping forward... I left my name and number and left to go to Urgent Care where I received a tetanus shot and an order to have my blood tested. Blood work came back ok (for now). The doctor suggested that I get tested yearly for the next 5 years. I was finally contacted and was told several times, "IT'S NO DOLLAR GENERAL'S FAULT!" They failed to realize it's also NOT MY FAULT!

All I hear is, "IT'S NOT DOLLAR GENERAL'S FAULT!" So all future testing will be paid by me!!! They wanted me to shut up, so they threw out a dollar amount that was at best an insult!! I was trying to get ahold of someone before my son got there so he wouldn't have had walked there for nothing. I called numerous times and it kept going to a voicemail. What kind of store does not answer their phone? Even if you're busy with customers, at least pick up the phone and put the person on hold until you're available.

The main reason there are shipping containers everywhere, they expect you to stock and run register etc. No matter how busy a store is, you are expected to get the stock done. That is why cashiers seem perturbed to help you. Price differences a lot times, price have went up in the system. If nobody prints new signs then it will ring for new price. If they don't take signs down for buy one get one and the sale goes off, the system rings current price. It really is up to the keyholders, managers to give it to you at sale price. Overall good place to shop. They are placed a lot times in rural areas. As an ex - employee, the majority of stores are not alloted enough time to get things done. I felt like I had just fought a war. I at times had to work weeks without time off. After seeing the manager calling in keyholders ON THEIR VACATION TO WORK BECAUSE THE MANAGER DID NOT WANT COVER THE SHIFT.

I knew I did not want to be there too long. I stayed over a year, too long. I once had to work from open until after midnight and then expected to come in at six in the morn. A bad manager. If you have a good manager and DM can be an ok place work. If you have complaints, I would recommend sending complaint to Corporate. They need to give more hours to get thing done and pay more. This is when you will see a change. After working some weeks over 90 hours a week I had it. Send concerns to Corporate. I think there should be a system where employees rate management and DM. They lack common sense. Don't work there unless desperate. Treat their employees bad. With 20 years retail experience worst place I have ever worked. In the South-East here. I hope this helps somebody in the future.

I was so excited when a Dollar General opened in my neighborhood, even passed along the news to friends and family that didn’t know of its existence. On many of my visits to this location I think I’ve finally had my last one. Went to see if I picked up a few stocking stuffers for my daughters, came across the aisle where there was blankets and tagged “buy 1 get 1 free”. I said, "Wow. What a bargain?!" Maybe I should of questioned this before actually purchasing. After paying I realized my bill was almost $80 and told myself “wow I really need to stay away from this store.” It was my 2nd purchase within a week of about the same amount. I look over the receipt and realized that the “buy 1 get 1 free” was actually charged twice. I said, no worries I’ll go during the week to ask what happened?

I go there today finally, after work and spoke to one of the managers who then told me to go to another one (Meresly) whom right away I knew it was going to be a bad experience. Why? Because after she acknowledged that I was standing there to speak with her she proceeded her personal conversation on her cellphone and didn’t even ask if I needed help. However, one of her staff members saw me and asked, unfortunately her manager was not as professional. After trying multiple times and explain why was there a tag misleading customers saying “buy 1 get 1 free” in that aisle she continued to give me the worst reasons, never once apologizing.

I did not want my money back, I wanted to know why were people being misled? Obviously not everyone (such as myself) asks why is this such a great deal? What’s the catch? I feel like the store is taking advantage of people and offering false advertisement. For consumers like me and my family, we should of been treated more professionally and given much better explanations. Not her just removing the tag that was in the wrong place, and saying it should of not been there. I will be telling my family and friends about this incident and for them to be more cautious of this place credibility on their products' prices.

Was in the location (store # 11329) approx 13:12. There was a long line, I didn't mind much because it was busy, but the cashier was very RUDE!! No greeting, no smile and complained to a vendor, "Sorry everyone decided to show up at one time, don't figure it happens all the time, when I send someone on break." I had several items including a sweatsuit and another pink sweat hoodie. She wadded up the clothes and stuffed them in a bag. I had to ask her if she was going to remove security tags, she stated she didn't know there were any.

Her demeanor didn't make us feel welcome, like we were interrupting her day. I believe she is a store manager. Tall, salt pepper hair cut short. I believe your business would be better if you can get her attitude in check. This is not the first time I have dealt with the attitude, just thought she was having a bad day the other times. The next incident on a later date there were sale items on sale with the sign listed there directly above the particular item we were intending to buy. When we got to check out and tried to purchase the item it rang full price and the cashier made excuses and implied that we were wrong that that item despite sign and others being there was not on sale. We drive down the road to another dollar general and got the same item for sale price as listed.

And the third incident last night we purchase some items. I have no problem companies like Dollar General making profits but it is not right for them to overcharge customers who do not check their receipts on a regular basis. I have had experienced in the past that I was overcharged over $1 for buying several items. If Dollar General overcharges 1M customers for an average $1, they just made $1M they did not deserve to earn. I live in a very small town in rural Illinois. We don't have a lot of shopping options, however it is a college town, so it's not exactly a sleepy town. Among the things in town is a Dollar General, which has a very high traffic. As a consumer, I went there sparingly, mostly because I've never cared for Dollar General, mostly because the name is annoying. Like, your prices aren't that much less than Walgreens settle down, but the local CVS is outrageously expensive and the nearest Walmart is fifteen miles away. So sometimes I go in there for toiletries.

First of all, the place is a mess. The employees try, I will give them that credit. The management cares, but corporate gives them jack ** to work with. I don't have any complaints about staff but I rarely do. Honestly, I'm just quiet and not the sort for small talk or thinking about something else. So if someone doesn't say hi to me when I enter or much to me during that transaction, I'm not one to notice. While I've never had an issue with my debit card, I know other people have. The equipment is exceedingly old. The registers were made by IBM ffs. Idek if they make modern ones, but I can tell these are at least 15 years old. Astonishing.

Anyway, it's a small town and people talk. While other DGs have been remodeled in nearby towns, there are apparently no plans for this store. Personally I think it's crazy corporate logic ruining everything. They're going to make money and get business regardless of the equipment and how dodgy it can be. Everyone in town shops there because there just aren't many options otherwise, especially if you don't drive or necessarily have the time to plan a day trip to Walmart. It's a messed up situation. Recently, however, their registers have been down a lot and in such a bad state one night the store was closed. I can say that in my town the manager and employees try though they are often very harried and stressed out by the workplace condition. The store is literally falling apart and though there was recently a perfectly fine building for lease on the other side of town, DG declined it because it was "too big". Sad.

My girlfriend had to recently quit working at Dollar General as a cashier because of 2 reasons. Number 1 her manager wouldn’t schedule her hours until her second job would schedule then overlap her hours. When she would ask to speak to the manager privately the manager wouldn’t so she finally asked the manager why she was overlapping the hours and the manager would yell at her in front of customers and state that her other job will have to reschedule her hours and corporate will not put up with her insubordination whatever that means. 2nd issue here’s an example. She would work 1 day for 5 hrs only receive 19 dollars then same scenario 1 day 5 hrs and receive 58 dollars and change. Her other job pays bi weekly and she receives 267 and change. Now when she worked at Dollar General she would only receive 120 dollars to 150 dollars at part time and minimum wage at both jobs.

Every time she has confronted the manager which has been for 6 months now the manager says she will look into it but never has. When my girlfriend printed out all of her check stubs there was 40 dollars and 60 dollars taken out and the area that states why it was taken out like for medical child support etc. It was blank when she showed it to other employees. They didn’t understand why her check stubs are like this theirs wasn’t. When she showed the manager she only states pay restrictions. Corporate management will not return her phone calls and it has been 3 and a half weeks now. And starting the other day corporate keeps transferring her to other places the hang up on her and she only calls 1 to 2 times a week. I would never recommend anyone to ever seek employment at DG.

Went into the Dollar General Sunday 07/30/17 for some cleaning items. Browsed the store for a while and needed help, no one was available on the floor. So I asked the cashier, he did say he was attending to the cash register, in a very unconcerned response. Another customer said that one other person was in the stock one. I walked to the back and knocked on the door, a young man name Bryon came out to help me with no complaint. Got what I needed and went to check out, hubby has the Dollar General app on his phone, he had coupons in his cart but, could not get them to show at the register. So I ask the employee who had identified he self as the Manager to help, I knew he was not the manager of this store. He was already mad about me complaining so he got very arrogant, aggressive & and hostile. So I left the items/walked out the store. He walked out behind my family and I, steady talking stupid talk.

All of this was done on the company time. Had the audacity to call me a **/ of course I called him one back. This young man Jurell is a safety hazard and a endangerment to the public. I reported him to Dollar General Corporation in Tn. The company could care less about employees at this store on Macarthur in Alexandria, La. If you do not respect the customer / they will take their business else where. He made a comment that he only makes 200.00 a week/ that he didn't give damn about that job. That's true his actions showed that they need to take a look at who is opening the boxes/ working cash register at that store. Don't just throw anybody off the streets into a position to attend customer service. I will not spend a penny there again.

This review is for the Dollar General located at 1220 Pioneer Road in Mesquite, TX. This store is fairly new, less than two years old, yet it is so cluttered you can't get down most of the aisles with your shopping basket. They seem to always have bins, racks, or stacks of items that need to be stocked. It does not matter what time of day, or what day of the week I go there. It is almost as if they see a space, and decide to put some clutter there. Today, August 1, 2017, I was at the store around 11:00 a.m. There were so many bins stacked in the aisle where paper goods were, you could not get to the trash bags. The pet food aisle had so much stuff down it that needed to be put on shelves you could not push a shopping cart down the aisle.

Most of the rest of the store had the same type problem. I know it must be difficult to keep all the shelves stocked, especially with popular items, or items on sale. But this store is this way all the time!! Can they not do the stocking during the hours they are closed? And what do they have against having a little space to navigate thru the store? Tell me when is the least busy time and I will attempt to go during those hours -- but I will still have to put up with junk in the aisles!

I shopped at this store and was told that they do not bag items with handles on them such as the laundry detergent I purchased as well as the Hawaiian Punch I purchased. I was told that it is the rule from Corporate and even if a customer requests a bag the employees are not allowed to accommodate the customer. This means making more trips to carry things out of the store and into my home. I also was going to purchase coffee which was on the bottom shelf of your store on Third Street in Dixon, Il. The price tag was evidently put in the wrong space by an employee. I asked the manager to honor the price listed and was told no because customers change the labels. I did not move the label at all. The cashier told me that is not the law to honor the price.

I contacted your Corporate Office and did not receive a call from the district manager. I finally received a phone call after I called again. The district manager stated in her notes that she had attempted to contact me at both phone numbers I left with Corporate. There was no caller ID showing any missed call and not one voice mail. She then offered me a $20. gift card for the inconvenience. I was told to pick it up at the store on Brinton in Dixon, Il.

I arrived at that store and was told there was NO gift card and I would have to deal directly with Tara the store manager. I asked her hours. I was told she starts at 8 a.m. I asked until what time she worked and was told it varies. I asked the cashier to call her and he did not want to, but finally did. He was at the register checking other customers out while he was on the phone. He stated loudly, "This is about the woman who had an ISSUE at the Third Street Store." The customers all turned around and looked at me. I said, "Yes I am the woman who had the ISSUE." I also asked him for the phone number to Corporate and he said he is not allowed to give the number out. I asked why as it is on the Internet. No answer.

I had asked the cashier if I could speak to Tara and he ignored me. I asked if he could call her back so I could speak to her about when she would be there. He again, did not want to call. He eventually called back and told her I wanted to speak to her and I heard her loudly say "About what???". I contacted corporate again and was given incorrect case numbers regarding my complaints.

I have again spoken to Corporate today and am waiting to hear of some resolution. This is really uncalled for and not professional in any way. I am very disappointed with the employees at both stores as well as Lisa Decker who is the District manager. The case number of my first complaint is **. I was given #**. The case number for my complaint at the store on Brinton was supposed to be #**. That case number is non existent. Is this the proper way to handle a complaint?

Dirty store, fire hazard, expired food! First of all, I've been complaining about this to anyone I can, for the past several months. There are so many instances of bad customer service, negative customer experience, and so on, that I've picked my top 3 that I'll share here: Earlier this year, after stopping to get a few grocery items we needed at a local Dollar General, I practically fell over many boxes, pallets, and other products just stacked on the floor. Of course, as always, they were completely blocking some aisles, causing a hazard if people needed to get out in a hurry. When I finally made it to the food aisle (due to the fact that they rearranged the store for the 4th time in 8 months!), I noticed that several canned items were so severely dented that the contents were leaking onto the shelves and floor below!

Disgusted, I moved to the condiment aisle to get some nice, fresh Ranch dressing (After all, it's a new food item in a store, right?). I chose my favorite, trusted brand, then went to get a gallon of milk. When I opened the cooler door, I noticed a scent of spoiled milk, and the first container I touched was soaked with milk from another broken container above it. I wisely decided to pass on getting the milk...

Getting home to eat a nice, fresh chef salad that my wife had made, we doused it with the new Ranch dressing only to take a first (and last!) nasty bite; it was spoiled. Very spoiled. Almost a year out-of-date. Disgusting. I tried calling the store (in Tully, NY, by-the-way), but no one answered. I called corporate; same result. The next day, I took the spoiled, expired product back to the store. After waiting nearly 10 minutes for the "manager" to have a wonderful conversation with his pajama-clad mother (ironically, she's also a manager of the same store!), I approached with the spoiled product. The "manager" (I use that term very loosely; I wouldn't let this dude manage a lemonade stand!) seemed unfazed that they would have such an "old" product on the shelves, and he then stumbled through trying to give me a refund.

At this point, I have not returned to shop at ANY of the Dollar General stores. Anywhere. Nationwide, I have heard the same stories, and then stumbled on this site spewing the same. Ironically, I am a food safety expert, and nationally-accredited trainer on many corporate topics including customer service and management. When I finally did get ahold of corporate, they weren't interested in my "free" advice, let alone my story. Hopefully you were (if you've made it this far to read this, then you probably are!). Good luck, God Bless, and be a good customer --- let everyone know!

I don't even know how to begin this review. I am so angry. The Dollar General near me is new, only been open a year or two. Apparently they do not know how to treat people. The manager, the one who should be a role model, scolded my son for "taking things he does not need." He grabbed dog treats, which we did want, and she decided to scold him. Again, my 3 year old, she decided to inform me "made a mess" when he was choosing a toy. How? Putting toys in the wrong spot! Long story short I kneeled down and told my son to clean his "mess" and made him put things back in the correct spots. This was the same woman who accused my 3 year old of stealing the last time we were in the store, which he did not, but I did apologize if he grabbed something and did not put it where it belonged. She was rude but I brushed it off. This time was even worse.

So after all of that we get to the register, and again their credit card machines were declining everyone like they did the last time I was there. She told the woman in front of me, it was her card and she doesn't know what to tell her. It then happened again to me. My son became impatient and started to cry. She turned to the other customers and said, "Sorry!" The customer said, "Don't be sorry. You can't change technology" and she said, "No. For the brat child," and pointed at my son! I said, "For the record he is three years old." She said, "Well maybe you should learn to discipline him!" Really? This 19 year old child just told me how to raise my 3 year old? Anyone who has ever had kids, have been mortified by their behaviors before.

I then said, "Don't tell me how to discipline my child" and requested her name. She gave me a fake name. She's a horrible worker. She is unpleasant every time I see her, to me, to all the other customers and to her staff. She yelled at my three year old and rips items out of his hands! What kind of monster does that? And he is a completely normal 3 year old. Not just saying that. He didn't know the organization of the toys, that was it. He did attempt to put them back and I did speak to him about it. But she didn't see nor care about that. She wanted to be the arrogant person she is and scold me and my son, as she does every single customer that doesn't do exactly as she wishes. Karma will get her. If she is not let go of after I report this issue, I will take this even further. I can't believe someone would act that shameful. I anticipate action. In the meanwhile, should you live in that area DO NOT GO THERE ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS!

I immediately noticed how very respectful and courteous Tony was to the employee. As Tony was explaining the store to the employee, he made a point to always follow up with words of encouragement. Tony found actions taken by the employee and was able to build those actions up and turn it into a very positive learning experience. I have been a Management Trainer in the past and It was VERY refreshing to get the privilege to overhear a Manager doing everything correctly while training a new employee. Whatever training you are providing your Managers, it is working!!!

I had the WORST experience with the Store Manager in Imperial, DON! I forgot my pin on my card which caused my transaction to be voided and re rung on a different card. When voiding the first transaction the cash registers froze, causing the Manager Don to call Corporate to reset the registers. The second ringing of my transaction STILL failed and again needed re rung to find out the card was debited on the first transaction. When trying to talk to Don, he was completely frustrated about his registers going down. He would not LISTEN to me when I kept telling him I had the credit company on the phone insisting there is NO VOID transaction, my card PAID the first transaction. Instead of talking calmly with me, he called the police. The situation could have been resolved easily.

He was flustered with down registers, as I was frustrated as a consumer. Don told police I was not allowed back into the store. I spend thousands per month. Just because Don was having a BAD day, I am banned from the store. Please know, I never raised my voice, made a scene, or talked rude. All I did was question a transaction and had the police called on me and banned from a store I frequent often. Extremely upsetting when Don obviously lacks customer service ability. Every worker in that store knows me and knows I am respectful and kind. If Don can't handle a simple down register issue and still be polite, he should seek new employment. I will keep him in my prayers since could use God as his higher power. Treat others the way you want to be treated, it will come back ten fold.

We go to this location regularly and spend hundreds of dollars, I'm looking at many many receipts for our patronage, this one from yesterday $46.20. These people often try to blame the customer for not being able to perform their own duties. The new ** manager (we've seen 6 since this location opened) is responsible for that talk, and has often been unable to complete multiple payment transactions, and even lie about why, when others know what they're doing. Awful, awful people who actually put the safety of customers at risk with their inadequacy.

When I asked for his name, he refused to give it to me and told me that if I called customer service, that they 'wouldn't do anything anyway'. I don't think me asking him for a receipt was an inordinate request.

It took two weeks to hear back from customer service after attempting to contact them several times. Instead of a phone call, as requested, they sent me a generic email with a half-hearted apology. They also sent me a 'receipt' that doesn't have the store name or date of purchase, while also telling me that this 'receipt' is not valid for returns. I will not be able to be reimbursed by my company for the purchase because of this. I will certainly never return to this store and recommend that others avoid it as well.

I need to file a complaint with your corporate office. I hate to tell the story on social media for all to see before I first speak with someone in the corporate office, but I've already called the 800 number and given my story to a young lady that promised I would receive a call back. I have not gotten a call. I also went online looking for an email address that I could send this to, but then it said that if I wanted to reach corporate I would need to do that through one of your social media accounts.

Today I visited store #06894 at 7415 Tazewell Pike Corryton, Tn. When I entered the store I didn't spend any time shopping or browsing. I went directly to the checkout counter. I asked the young man if I could please give him $140 cash and he place that cash onto a Kaiku prepaid debit card that I own. He told me he didn't know but that he would try. The transaction didn't work and the young man gave me my $140+ fee back and told me he was sorry. That's when an older man, about 45 or 50 yrs old, walked up and told me to wait a second. I did. He tore the receipt from the register and read it aloud. He read "Transaction declined. Customer is entitled to immediate refund of $143.95." The young man again told me he was sorry so I said thank you and walked out to my car.

After starting my car the older man, **, ran up to my window and knocked on it. I rolled the window down and he yelled "You need to come back in... now". I told him "Okay" and I turn to grab my purse so that I could get out of my car. He yelled again "Get out of the car now. That money's on that card." I told him that I didn't have a problem going back in but that he needed to take his hands off of my door so that I could roll up my window and lock my car before I go inside. He yelled "No, I'll call the cops. You're not taking off on me. You're not driving out of here." Again, I told ** to please take his hands off the window so that I can roll it up and I would get out of the car. I told him that there were things in my car and I wanted to just roll up the window. I assured him again that I didn't have a problem going back inside.

I reached for my keys to turn off my car and to take them out of the ignition but I believe he thought I was trying to start the car because he blocked my hand from being able to grab the keys. I believe he didn't realize my car had already been started. That's when I asked him to step back so that I could get out and that's when he opened my car door for me. I had to leave my purse in the car, and the window down and my engine running while I walked back in because every move I made he would start yelling at me and threatening to call the police. By this time I was shaking pretty bad and crying. I had no idea what had happened. Even if the transaction had gone through and the money was in fact on my card, I had only left the inside of the store because ** and the younger man told me the transaction had been declined and that they couldn't help me.

So I make it back into the store and I asked ** why he would treat me this way and what I did wrong. There were customers inside the store staring at me, at this point. ** said, "You've got to understand that we have thefts every day." I told ** I didn't steal anything and that the only reason I left the inside of the store is because he told me the transaction had been cancelled. I kept saying I couldn't believe what was happening and I have never, in my life, been treated so poorly in any store.

Then ** says "You have to sign this." I look down to read the receipt I'm signing and the receipt says "AMT DUE TO CUSTOMER $143.95." After I signed it I looked up waiting for ** to tell me I must give him the money back, but he didn't. He told me that receipt was my copy. I was completely confused at this point and I started to walk out of the store without saying anything at all to anyone and when I get to the door ** yells "You have a nice day too." I believe when we got back into the store ** realized that no money had made it onto the card and I believe that the reason he kept saying "You've got to understand we have thefts every day" rather than saying he was sorry is because he had treated me so poorly in front of the store full of customers and he didn't want those other customers to know he was wrong. He would rather let them go on thinking I had actually tried to steal from the store.

I was mortified when this was happening. I was scared and had no idea what I had done wrong. When I say that I've never been treated so poorly ever in my life while out shopping that is the truth. I still have not received a call from your corporate office. I did end up calling the district manager on her cell phone, but she didn't answer and I could leave a message b/c her inbox was full. I want this man to be fired. He has no business at all interacting with the public if he thinks this behavior is okay. He had no right to keep me from being able to lock up my car or roll up my window. He had no right to block my hand from reaching for my car keys as I was sitting in my car. If you let this go and do nothing about it, and you choose not to call me back I promise you I will go ahead and retain attorney Tuesday afternoon and then just let the attorney handle it from there.

I recently completed a survey using the information on a former receipt. This was for $3 off $15. I purchased $20 worth of merchandise, and presented the coupon. The clerk [Julie] said that the discount had been applied but neither she, nor I could find where it indicated this on the current receipt. After I added up all the purchases I made at the list price, it noted that I had purchased $20+ and then after each and every item there was a pennies deduction which brought the total to $17+.

#1 I think this is a terrible way to show the customer that the discount was taken. It should have been subtotaled at $20 then shown the entire $3 discount. Julie was at all times gracious and helpful in spite of the fact that this was a busy time of the day and she was working alone trying to stock shelves and attend to customers.

#2 When I tried to go online and submit my comments via the survey I was told I wasn't allowed to do that since I had used the discounts previously. I can appreciate that you don't want the same person completing a survey again and again, but I was given no other option to get this comment to you without having to search through the many listings on the internet.

If you want to help your customers, I would suggest you simplify the procedures. Both when presenting a coupon for discount and for comments other than a survey. Perhaps you could add an option when you refuse to let a customer take the survey. Since you give a coupon at the end of the receipt anyway. Why don't you simply offer a discount coupon even if you DON'T want them to complete the survey. It makes me feel that I just won't bother in the future to let you know how my experience was, be it good or bad. It is a good thing to have Dollar General in our locality. But since the recent change in employment management, it appears that you neither care about your customers by not having staff on hand to help them, and you'll be lucky to keep the few good people you now have.

Two coupons three dollars off of five Special K cereals which I got 10. In the bottom of the coupons it does say you can use them as long as you weren't using four of them at per transaction. I try to explain to her the sale price of the cereal, it's in the paper three times. She just can't argue with me back-and-forth.

Meanwhile there is a line of customers behind me. The gentleman was too scared to even try to assist a customer on the other register because he realize he did something wrong. They didn't understand what you did wrong and the manager just wasn't educating him on what he did wrong eventually. I ended the conversation by, "I don't want this. I'm walking away."

She makes a big stink like, “You're not going to get this?” I told her, "No I don't have to buy it if I don't want to buy it. I'll buy it for $17. That's the sale price of the cereal and my coupons and not for $23." I am a professional customer service agent from home. I know my rights and on the side of the size. Been a customer service agent. I'm also a blogger and I said, "Now you put the cereal back and you look. You be thinking about what you did wrong and why you added. Check the Sarah out there. Some cereal that is opened back there you may want to take off the shelf before the Health department comes!"

I called corporate to let them know what was going on and I gave them my home phone number to see if I hear anything about it but after reading the reviews from the Yellow Pages app I don't know if I will hear anything because only negative review that this particular store has is this lady which is quite sad because I was just one customer. I had two transactions to do. One was for my cereal and the other was for my next-door neighbor. She want me to get her some pop. I would have went next-door to save a lot however went to many people like myself who refuses to take the crap of people who don't pay no attention to what their sales ad say or what the coupons are and want to argue with the customers. Eventually the stores were either a layoff people or worse they shut them down.

This Dollar General (Store #12451) on Lady's Island in Beaufort, SC is disgusting!!! I drove past the brick structure that conceals the dumpster... Both doors of the brick structure were open and this is what I saw. There is no reason for this at all. If the employees are too lazy to put the trash into the dumpster, and leave it looking like this... then I would hate to see what their stockroom looks like inside. This is disgusting and severely pathetic. The trash is easily, easily 2 feet thick behind the dumpster!!! Seriously!!! Corporate had better do something and soon!!!

I went to Dollar General Sunday the 16th to purchase items for a new kitten. I got food, toys, a cat box, and a small bed. When I got checked out the cashier asked if I'd like the bed in a bag, and I said no. Then I realized that there were still two items in the basket that needed to be paid for. I paid for them quickly because I was holding up the line. I got kind of flustered and grabbed my bags and left.

When I got home I realized that I had left the kitten bed on top of the bag carousel. I went back on Monday and spoke to an assistant manager and she said if the cashier remembered it, they would give it to me. When she asked the cashier he lied and said he saw me take it. If he had said he didn't remember, I would have understood. It was my fault I left it. But he deliberately lied about it and I'm very angry about that. This was the store at Admiral and Memorial in Tulsa. I will not go back to that store and I will advise everyone I know not to until that cashier is gone.

When I was looking at the refund and exchange policy. When I told her that there was a sign behind her she begin to read it. And I was right but she said that she didn't want to exchange it for the same product. Due to the fact that she could not resell it.

I won't be there if it was working and proceed to gather other employees to say they were the ones who were working. One of the employees said twice that she was not there. And the manager kept yelling and talking in a downward matter of the issue. HER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPPORT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND SHE NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP ON THE POLICIES.

Thought I bought a Eckrich Ham & Cheese on sale for $2.00 yesterday 4/13/2017 since the red and yellow sales promo label clearly stated it was on sale for $2.00 but after visualizing what I purchased a day later it seemed to me I was overcharged slightly on the several items I acquired. Went to trash bin and found the receipt in the yellow Dollar General sack and sure enough I was charged regular price of $3.25. Since I was headed the several miles back to the town I purchased at today for other business, I decided to call them and notify them about this. They said, "Sure come on in and we will see what we can do."

Big mistake calling ahead I think. Gave them warning to no doubt go to refrigerated case and remove red and yellow promo sales sticker, since when I arrived to store and marched back to the display case the ham and cheese now counted 12 packages and sticker had been removed. Somebody had re-stocked since I took the last package yesterday. From now on, do not call ahead since this gives the manager warning to go remove a sticker that probably should have been removed weeks ago when the sale expired. Did not argue long when their eyes were averting mine trying to reason with them. I know what I saw yesterday as far as a sales price since I won't give $3.25 for any kind of lunch meat. Less business for Dollar General coming out of my pocketbook. That's all.

The items carried in this store are minimal compared to other DG locations. We only have this store and one other in our town to shop. I feel that because we are a small town that the customers don't matter. Fifteen miles south of us is Benton LA and that store is run so well and fully stocked. In shock we still stood looking at her. I said "Wow I am calling corporate on her" and she looks at me and asks her other employee Marium why people are staring at her and that it's OK for her to treat people like that because she's the manager. We go on about our shopping as she is still standing behind the register screaming for Makinsey until she has to go get her and then approaches me accusing me of putting ** in my purse. For one it wasn't even my purse it was my daughters. But she said I had to show her the inside because she just seen me so my daughter came and opened her purse against my approval.

Words were passed and I told her I was calling corporate. When she seen she approached the wrong person she ran in the office and wouldn't come out. They said she was calling corporate. I demanded the police to be called but they wouldn't. Oh and yes when she was running her mouth about us looking at her when she was ignorantly treating the Somali customer I turned on my record button on my cell phone and capture this ignorant manager acting in an unprofessional manner. We then asked the cashier Marium for Corporate number and she gave us one number and the general dollar on Demorest rd and asked the manager there for corporate and he then gave us another number. I think they need to take a different approach for their training before they get a law suit filed against them.

That's why Wal-Mart has more customers, but you also had Pepsi and Mountain Dew and Diet Pepsi for 3 for 10.00 dollars but had it displayed in front of store and didn't even display the other because you didn't even have Barq's root beer. It was clean and well stocked and the shelves were fronted and very nice. The store had a larger amount of products. Then I unfortunately had to go to the restroom. I walked in the restroom and it was filthy. The first stall had a toilet seat that did not fit the elongated toilet. The second stall was filthier than the first. I can honestly say that there was not one thing in that restroom that was clean. Like I said I had no choice but to use the restroom and I felt like I needed to go home and take a shower.

This was store #09822 4491 Lebanon Rd. Hermitage, Tn 37076-1311. If you are going to spend the effort in making the front of the store look so pristine then maybe you should make an effort to have the restroom look the same for your paying customers. I worked most of my life working retail or the restaurant business and believe me if your restroom is clean it makes quite an impression. I was not in the least impressed with this one. Please go visit this store and I will guarantee you would not want to sit on those toilets or touch anything in there.

I was standing in line listening to the cashier and how she talked to the customers. She was very rude and you could tell she wasn't going to do anything unless it was absolutely necessary. When it was my turn it got worse. My daughter wanted these little round chocolates. I guess she couldn't scan them. She informed my daughter to find her one in the box that she could scan or she wouldn't be able to sell it. First of all she could have searched for one better than my 7 year old who didn't understand.

Second of all she could have typed in the numbers, I used to work at a different location years ago and know that it can be done. We finally get through the scanning part, and go to pay. I have never been more embarrassed. Their machine cancel and denies 2 of my credit cards and my debit card, all of which have money on them. I inform the girl after it cancels my debit card that there is something wrong with the machine. She then states in front of the line with attitude "Nope. It's your card. It does that when there isn't enough money." I informed her that I had money on them, its her machine. She continued to argue back to me.

Right after this, using my debit card, the machine asks me if I wanted cashback and I said no. Well, it cancelled my transaction again. She informs me with attitude in front of everyone that I keep cancelling my transaction and its me doing it. After about ten tries it goes through. If it was my cards "fault" for not having money on it, why would it suddenly go through? I asked for her manager and she pointed to the back and told me she was back there. Like I know what she looks like! At this point I had enough. I told her to get her manager because that was her job. She stood there and yelled for her manager! I waited for ten minutes for the manager to appear.

When she did I told her I wanted to complain about the cashier's attitude and how she treated their customers. I proceeded to tell her what happened at the register, in which case, the cashier snidely handed her the pile of receipts from the register and the manager lets me know she can't force the register to take the card. She totally missed the part about how her cashier talked to their customers.

At this point I am seeing red and she is defensive. She proceeds to tell me she isn't getting on her employee in front of me when she isn't doing anything wrong. I never asked her to chew out the cashier in front of me, and of course her cashier isn't talking to me the way she was before in front of her manager. I had enough and decided to leave. On the way out I told her I would contact corporate for the treatment I received. I was told it wouldn't matter. As I go through the door the manager yells "Have a nice day and go contact someone" for anyone in the parking lot to hear. I called corporate and filed a complaint. I have no hopes it will be resolved. By the way all of this was in front of my 7 year old.

Dollar General often gives $5/25 in store coupons on your register receipt and texts them to you on your phone. They have recently changed the method by which they take these coupons. They now will apply the DG coupon after all manufacture coupons. And therefore you must make a $25 purchase after all your mfg coupons are applied. Nowhere on the coupon does it state this. On the coupon which I will include it. States only that the $25 or more requirement will be calculated after all other Dollar General discounts.

This is deceptive trade practice or Fraudulent trade practice. Also nowhere in their coupon policy does it state this. This policy has just been implement since the first of the year. I shop a lot at DG but not anymore. This is also a sneaky way to try to sell more merchandise. I coupon extensively and this policy is in no way competitive with other major stores. It was always my understanding that a merchant has to honor what's written in their brochures, coupons, etc. I won't be shopping at Dollar General any further.

A couple months ago I went to Dollar General in Boardman, Ohio to buy some items. While I was grabbing items I noticed I was being followed by a customer. After a while she stopped. I went to the counter to pay for my items and they said the register was not working. After a few minutes the cops came in and asked me if I was stuffing items in my bra. Apparently the woman told the cashier I was stealing and instead of confirming if I was, which I was not, they called the police on me. After 15-20 mins with the police they said that there was no probable cause for an arrest. After the cop told the cashier it doesn't look like I stole anything instead of him apologizing for his mistake and believing some random person he told the cops to ban me from the store. I contacted corporate and it took them 2 calls from me for them to call me back.

When I spoke to her she said the employee did not handle the situation properly. I told her that the cops told me they would contact me if they wanted to prosecute after reviewing the tape and that I was going to speak to a lawyer if I was going to be. After that she did not want to talk to me. I called back and she made a note that I will still be banned from the store even though they reviewed the tape and seen I did not steal. I would just let this go but now I have a somewhat of a record for potentially stealing and being banned from a store. I hate thieves and to be labeled as one because of someone's negligence is very upsetting. I always got the feeling that they were watching every time me and my husband would go in the store we would be followed or they would call security check.

The first time I go in there without my husband I get the cops called on me. I'm a ** woman and my husband is **. I'm not confirming that they followed me and accused me because of my race but they cannot give me a proper answer as to why I was banned? Why I was accused? And why they believe this random woman? Now i have a hard time going in stores especially alone. I shouldn't have been punished for someone stereotyping me. They refuse to contact me even when I told them I would not get a lawyer if there is no attempt to prosecute me. I have been followed in a store before it becomes something you expect but never have I had the cops called on me and accused me of stealing in front of the entire store and yelled at and treated like a criminal by the police to get out of the store. They have yet contacted me.

All I want is a letter of apology admitting they were wrong and lift the band even though I will never shop there again, I don't want that kind of negativity on my record especially since I never had a run in with the police before then. I will always be scared by the situation and it's a shame they handled It so poorly. I use to work there, not for long, because of the working environment and poor management I quit and I'm so glad I did. Never will they get my or my family's money again. And if I ever go in a store and I notice I'm being followed I'm going to leave the store immediately to avoid this ever happening to me again. But I will avoid shopping at a store where they fail to train the employees properly and value their customer like Dollar General.

I asked the girl Tanya where something was. She was too busy on her Phone not caring what I asked and she had to rudely look up and say "what do you need miss!!!" I was totally in shock! The girl Nicole whom was polite as can be with a smile on her face and a Line circled around! Well another customer said to me "I come in here daily and these poor cashiers are stuck on the register with no help". Like I said I've been a regular customer because I use this one cause I am a older woman and don't like Driving and this Dollar General is the closest!

Well yes Nicole called and called with a line all the way around and Tanya comes out slowly and says "what do you need!" Everyone in disbelief "what does this poor young lady working so fast and hard need". Well everybody was in shock! She says "can I help the next person" with a rude tone and not one smile as the young girl Nicole smiled the whole time! I'm sorry but this has to be taken care of! The other woman Tena should have been up there helping as well! There is 3 Registers now! That's just horrible! I pray they are not managers! Half the time when I go in there is no one at either of the two check-out counters. If there is, I have never seen more than ONE cashier at time with an open register.

One day before Christmas there was a line of about 15 people waiting for ONE register. After a 15 minute wait in line, they opened a new register manned by a young man who was on his second day on the job. It took close to 15 minutes MORE for him to check out the man in front of me because he made so many mistakes, couldn't find something, etc. The store is a nightmare. I've stopped bothering to shop there, because I know what kind of experience I'll have every single time I go in.

I received a few items for Christmas which were regrettably not my style from my mother. Since we're not the sort of cynical family who gives out receipts along with our gifts, I figured they would either give me store credit or tell me no. We went to the nice DG in Tobaccoville, NC instead of the incredibly messy store in King. My boyfriend and I did not expect to be treated like thieves. All I can say is WOW. 'No receipt' must be code for 'shoplifter' at DG. After she added the items up and told us that the refund (not a card, just trade for merch?) would not include tax in the snarkiest tone possible, we were told to leave the one item they couldn't accept- TOLD, not ASKED- by the register, because I'm assuming Miss Sunshine thought we were going to be stealing. Then we were followed through the store.

I am a lot of things, but THIEF is not one of them. I am a computer repair tech by trade and my boyfriend is the most honest individual I have ever met. Neither of us are thieves. Did she not understand that after Christmas people would be returning gifts? If not, I cannot imagine what hell her life will be in the next week. Disgusted by one store, and disgusted by another, neither of us will be stepping foot into another Dollar General again.

Forgot password?” If you try that they offer a window that says SEND PASSWORD Click that and enter the email. Then they come back with “user not found”. This all happened to my wife. They do find her email address on her phone to send their advertisements though. Remember “user not found”!!! We contacted them by filling out Contact Us on their login page and by cell phone. They are uncooperative and their only reply is an automated “Received your submission”.

The cashier called repeatedly with no answer. 3rd try the manager walked the entire 12 feet to the register. She pushed through the customers rudely, she deleted the nail polish that was incorrectly price marked as the entire shelf was incorrectly priced, did not ask to help customers in line for 20 minutes at this point, and went back to the office to sit down. The store is dirty with liquor bottles and trash parking lot and trash all over the store. And there is no manager taking any responsibility for anything. Customers said they are not coming back because it keeps getting worse. Go Dollar General!

My complaint is that on 12-08-2016; I stopped at the Dollar General located at: 1100 Carver Rd, Modesto, CA 95350 to shop for a few items that my family needed. During the time that I was in the store and prior to my acquiring any needed items I walked over to the men's room with intentions of availing myself of the facilities. However, tacked to the men's room door is a sign "instructing customers to see the store personnel for a key to gain access to the restrooms". When I asked the store personnel for the key to gain access to restroom, they informed me that despite what the door sign clearly states the restrooms were only for employees.

I found their statements regarding this matter highly suspicious, so upon returning to my car I decided to call the store and talk to the manager about my being denied access to the restroom. The person on the phone informed me that, they were the store manager and happened also to be the person who just denied me restroom access. This person told me that it was store policy not let any customers use the restrooms despite what the door signs says.

Based upon my many years of shopping at other Dollar Generals with my family and my observation of the behaviors and actions of employees within this specific DG, as well as my subsequent conversations with other DG shoppers I believe that this specific DG allows ** customers the use of store’s restrooms. The store policy of non-restroom usage by customers seem to be is only applied to ** customers and other minorities. I request that the store be instructed by their corporate office to stop this discrimination among its customers regarding restroom usage.

This is an incident that happened at the Gladstone, MO store #02610 on November 3rd, 2016. My wife and I have been frequent customers at this particular DG store and we happened to see a flyer that mentioned toys were 50% off and we wanted to look at toys for our daughters and other younger family members for the upcoming holidays. While my wife was looking at the toys, I went and picked out the few things that I had specifically in mind. There were a few other items I was looking for that the store did not carry, but I still looked just in case. Having been frequent customers and knowing the general protocol of the store, I had to use the restroom. I went to the front and asked for the key and knew where it was. When I was finished, I locked the door behind me and brought the key back to the front. I continued to walk around the store and would occasionally check-in with my wife.

When I went to the back of the store, Selenthia, the manager, asked if she could help me find anything. She was standing there with a couple of other employees. I specifically told her that I was: "wandering the store aimlessly" because I actually was. Looking at whatever might catch my eye, checking out the discount aisle in case something jumped out at me that I just needed, etc. She specifically said: "Okay, I had the police on the line for this clown". I was appalled by her comment and said I was there shopping with my wife. Selenthia then had to verify my wife was in the next aisle and that she was my wife. After she verified, she told my wife to "keep on shopping and you buy lots of toys". I said out loud that "I don't know what I did to accuse her of being a threat" to her or the store. We were about to walk out of the store but decided to buy the items we had in our cart.

Upon checking out, my wife asked the clerk for the manager's name. She told us her first name but would not give us her last name. We also asked for the store number and how to file a complaint against that manager. She could not provide any of that information. While sitting in front of the store, I looked up corporate on my phone and proceeded to call them and had a reference number made and a case started. I explained my treatment in that store and how I was appalled how my wife and I were treated. I was told that the district manager, Kent, would be notified and he would be in touch. Selenthia called me later and apologized and said she never had the police on the line. Why would she say that out loud to me if she didn't? I told her that because I was the only male, Asian customer in that store that I felt very strongly she picked me out of every other customer in that store.

She publicly humiliated me because of how loud she said what she did in front of everyone in that store. (Keep in mind that this is not a big store.) I later received a phone call from Kent explaining that he spoke with Selenthia and told her that what she did was totally inappropriate and that she should not have continued how she did. Kent also said that she was written up and her actions will be monitored. I was NOT at all happy with this resolution because I am a law abiding citizen that has NEVER had a criminal record and NEVER been accused of shoplifting. I told Kent that I was not happy with this resolution and wanted to pursue this further. He told me to contact HR or Customer Relations and that I could file a complaint there.

I made that phone call on November 4th to DG Human Resources and was told that I needed to contact Customer Relations and was given the phone number. I spoke with someone there and explained my situation. I was told an email would be generated and the Regional Manager would be contacted and I would hear from him. His name was Alan. After not hearing anything from Alan for three days, I called back on the 8th of November and explained I never heard anything. Later that day, Alan called me. I didn't recognize the phone number and didn't answer. After I heard his message, I returned his phone call less than three hours later due to being busy with other things. I left him a message and told him that I wanted to speak directly with him and to please call me back. I never heard anything from him for one full week.

I called BACK to customer relations on the 15th and was livid because I never heard from him. I said the rep at that time that Alan obviously didn't take my matter seriously and that I wanted to speak with the next person above him in Corporate. I was reassured that an email would be generated and sent to Corporate. Amazingly, Alan called me later that day and left another message. I called back to Customer Relations and said that I specifically said that I did not wish to speak with him but wanted to speak with the next person above him. Again, another email was being generated and sent to Corporate about my situation. I called again on the 17th because I never heard from anyone AGAIN. I was told again that an email would be generated with High Priority and sent to Corporate again. Again, Alan called and left another message on the 18th.

It was rather interesting how whenever I called Customer Relations and requested to speak with someone in Corporate ABOVE the regional director that he would be the one calling me back. After hearing nothing again for a few more days, I called CR (Customer Relations) again on the 22nd. I explained everything AGAIN and was told another email would be generated and sent to an escalation team. I waited to hear back from someone. NOTHING! I called again on the 29th wanting to know what was happening. I explained the situation AGAIN and that I got no results AGAIN. The rep said she would put me in touch with the supervisor, which I agreed to, and she hung up on me. I called back again and requested to speak with a supervisor. He wanted to know my information AGAIN and I explained everything to him AGAIN. I never was able to speak with a supervisor from that phone call either.

I was told that HR would be involved and that someone above Alan would be in touch. The rep would speak directly with his supervisor and have him help generate the required email. Later that day I received a phone call from DG HR Employee Relations Manager. I explained the situation again to her and she got my side of the story. She said she would start an investigation and would be back in touch with me. On 12/2 she called me and said she had news that I would not be happy with. She was upholding the decision made and that she wasn't going to ruin an employee's life because of this incident. Selenthia would be monitored and that what she did was completely inappropriate and apologies were made to me for my experience.

I am NOT happy with this sort of resolution because of the public humiliation I went through. The fact that I did not pose ANY sort of threat and did not make ANY indication of shoplifting. I have worked in retail and in public relations and know all about that sort of thing. We will NOT be going back to that establishment and will proceed to tell all of our friends and family to NOT shop at that store due to our experience. The fact that I have left names is because this whole matter is completely true. If this is how they are going to treat customers, then why should we support them?

Dollar General has a bad way of putting signs all over the place instead of just with the product that is on sale. I think this is a marketing ploy that most people don't pick up on. At any rate, I saw that I had not received the sale price and returned the items. Upon entering the store and explaining the situation, this troll of a manager started bellowing that I had not purchased the required items. A nice clerk started with the return and then the troll came over and jumped right in the middle of it. I knew she would screw up something because she didn't bother to find out what was going on. She was so busy bitching about me not reading the fine print that she actually charged me for one item that I was bringing back. What a fiasco! She has no business being a manager. If she is that stressed, give her some time off.

My daughter and I were just humiliated in DOLLAR GENERAL (Cedar Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605). We were accused of shoplifting. I walk there with an old modified baby stroller. I took out the seat and put in an insulated carry cooler. It zips up, but I never zip it up in the store so as not to conceal any items I pay for. I was use this cart because I have trouble standing when I walk anywhere and can't carry much. It gives me something to lean on in case I get dizzy because the wheels lock easily. I go out of my way to explain to store clerks that I need this to get around and carry my purchases due to a rare genetic condition (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia) my daughter and I both have that affects our ability to walk far due to heart palpitations, pain, arthritis, and vertigo.

I shop in all the local stores (Rite Aid; Publix; Kroger; Sally Beauty, etc) and this particular store many times most of the clerks know me by now and I always try to ask if there is an issue with the cart; sometimes I will leave at the end of an aisle or front of the store so the clerks can see I'm not trying to hide anything. We use Dollar General weekly (or more often) because it is inexpensive and close (I can hardly make it to the bus stop) and it is one of the few places my daughter can walk (we often use it as her physical therapy). The manager and I would speak all the time about products and the mobile app. We also choose Dollar General because it is and the staff are extremely kind and helpful - until today.

Today I didn't see clerks. It was a busy time of day, so I figured they were doing other things. We were both all over the store (together and separately) talking loudly, laughing and not acting suspicious in any way. I never zipped up the container inside the stroller; and within minutes of being in the store, it was overflowing with items.

When we got the counter, we saw two police officers standing watching people check out; I thought nothing of it because I have seen clerks have to remove teens because they were rude or disrespectful. Once we paid for our food, my prepaid debit card didn't work so I had to remove the detergent. I have done this many times at this store.

The first clerk (who is usually much more friendly) didn't know how because we had already completed part of the transaction. The second clerk (whom we had never seen before today) didn't know how to do remove it either. She called the manager who told her how to do it. I pulled out everything and asked if she wanted to check everything that would need to pay cash for. She ignored me, so I just pulled out everything that wasn't food. She was fumbling a lot and did could not find the place for me to sign, then told me I didn't need to sign for the transaction. I paid her cash; loaded the cart and thanked the clerk. She didn't answer me and wouldn't look me in the eye, so I thanked her again really loudly. She begrudgingly said, "You're welcome," but still wouldn't look at me.

As I was leaving, the officer and asked us to step outside to speak with him. He said we were accused of shoplifting, but instead of pressing charges we were banned from the store for 2 years. I asked if he wanted to go through my cart and check everything against the receipt. He said, "No." I explained that many of the staff in that store have seen us and we always use the cart, that I have asked many times if it was OK to use the cart and the manager knew who I was. He took our information, asked for my I.D., told me to take it up with the manager, had the rude clerk come out and told us we were banned, gave us a form with the case number and asked us to leave the property.

I asked him to define the property and if I could use the sidewalk passing by the store - because I want to know where to put up signs if I want to picket or protest. He said the sidewalk was county property and I could use it, and to get a permit to protest. I thanked him for the reminder about the permit. I asked where I could get the video and other records, then we left. We wanted to return out things, but the officer wouldn't let us. I complained that the clerk and cops waited for us to pay so they could get the last little bit of money from us before they confronted us. The officer said he was trying not to embarrass us; but he confronted us in front of the store. (HOW IS THAT NOT EMBARRASSING?) By this point, my daughter is crying. I just hugged her and told her it would be OK because we didn't do anything wrong and we would clear it up. I also told her to keep her hands where the officers could see them and stay calm.

I called the store when we got home to get the manager's information; reaching the woman who called the cops on us. She claimed she asked me if there was a baby in the cart, I never heard her say anything to me - I was very hazy from medication and in a hurry to get home because I was in a lot of pain. Jami said she saw her standing all the way at the end of the aisle, not near enough for us to hear her well. Jami was right next to me, she said she heard her say something (possibly about a baby) but then instantly walked away, so she didn't think anything of it. I literally never even noticed her. (We both have documented hearing issues).

I told her that we were always in that store and used the cart all the time, the manager and many of the staff knew us. I asked her to please ask the manager to call us and that I wanted to make sure the film from that day was saved to show what happened. She hung up on me. I called another store and asked for a manager to contact the other store to ask them to save the footage. They said they couldn't but they gave me the contact info of the regional manager. I took pictures and video of everything in the cart and the receipt. I want this clerk to apologize to my daughter, and have this removed from public record. Although this is a civil, not criminal matter, it humiliated my daughter, can severely affect my ability to find certain jobs and my security clearance.

If the clerk had actually confronted us in the store, I would not have been embarrassed or angry. I understand that shoplifting is a problem and the cost can ultimately be passed on to your customers. I would have gladly used a store cart if the clerk would have spoken to me (THE ADULT) and asked me to leave MY cart in the front. Instead, the clerk said something vague to my daughter who didn't understand her and walked away without a word to me.

I am asking for the video footage to show that I did not ignore her, I didn't even know she was there. If my daughter had known that the clerk was trying to get my attention, she would have told me because we both have difficulty hearing - but woman walked away before my daughter could even respond to her. The store was very busy, so Jami assumed she wasn't talking to us when she walked away. She never approached us.

The "manager" (Gloria) then began to follow me down the aisle. When I turned around to look at her she said "We have a policy, Don't open any foods and eat in the store without paying". I put the items in the air to show her that they were not open. I then turned around and continued looking for my items. She walked off and called me "Stupid" but she said it in Spanish. I guess she didn't think I understood what she was saying but I completely understood her word for word. So, like anyone else would I responded to her ridiculous comment and called her stupid as well. She looked me right in the face and said "I may be stupid, but you're a **!

That was the most disgusted crack I had ever heard. So of course we argued. Although she called me out of my name twice I still picked up my items and headed to the front of the store to pay for them. By this time Gloria made it back to the front and was telling the cashier what had happened. When I got there I asked the cashier (Don't Know his Name) for the customer service number. He then told me he wasn't giving me ** and I can leave the store!

This was so hard for me to keep calm and be the bigger person. If I weren't pregnant and waiting on a well paid job I believe I would have been arrested. Regardless of what I am buying no one deserves this kind of treatment from anyone at all. I called the 800 number spoke to someone so hopefully I can get this issue resolved. I have lived in the Fruitland area of Jackson, MO for 61 years and was so glad when the Dollar store was built on US Highway 61. I like the location even though it is a very busy intersection. But the last dozen or so times I have entered this store it was a disgrace and so dirty. When the store first open it was very well organized and spotless. The first few managers tried to keep it up but let it go down downhill. The store had a good person running that store for a few years. She worked there since the store first opened. That manager was a person in charge and hired decent people that would greet you when you come in the door and would make you feel like they appreciated you shopping at their store. I know that manager probably work a lot of long each week. She would help me find things, even if they were out of stock on the store shelves she would go in the back and come out with just exactly what I ask for.

Now you ask anyone in the store even the new manager and they will tell you they are out or the truck didn't come. I know that's not true because you can't hardly shop because of all the stock carts sitting around waiting on someone to stock the shelves. Ask the cashier why there is so many carts in the store aisles and they say the stock room is full. There was so many carts sitting around in the shopping area that you couldn't use a shopping cart. I also seen a mop, bucket of nasty mop water was just sitting by the bread aisle. I won't go into detail but the health department should see and smell the restroom. I have complained to the store manager only to be told that they don't have time to do the regular task much less any extra. It's sad that a store that isn't very old looks like the city dump.

I won't be shopping at this location again and it's sad that it has come to that. I know several past patrons have stopped shopping there, that I go to church with stop shopping there for this same reason. I really feel for the safety of the customers that our local health officials be notified of the problem at this location and maybe come up with a solution. I am not sure why Dollar General didn't try to pay the last manager more money to stay. We have heard they didn't even try to keep her because of the money Dollar General would have to pay. What a shame. Thank You.

I'm very disappointed. While the store in Bloomington, IN has been renovated to create roomier aisles, the aisles in the back of the store are cluttered, the shelves are disorganized, and the shelves are stacked too high to reach products on the top shelves. I could not find one item although I looked all over for it. The clerk said she didn't know where it was since they rearranged the store. Also, I was sent a postcard in the mail with a coupon for $5 off of a $25 purchase. I scoured the coupon for an expiration date multiple times, and there was none. At the store, the clerk took my coupon and I thought she scanned it. I did think my purchase total seemed high ($30), but didn't look at my receipt until I was home and saw the coupon had not been applied.

I returned to the store later and the same clerk was there, as well as another clerk. They told me the coupon had expired and showed me some small yellow coupons which I told them was not like the one I received in the mail. Then the clerk who rang up my purchase told the other clerk she had been told to tear them up. They were not able to find the coupon. (It had my name and address on one side.)

I'm certain that there was no expiration date on the card but am angry that the clerk didn't say something when she rang up my purchase. The fact that she didn't tell me it was expired at the time and that she and the other clerk could not find the coupon later is very suspicious. It really makes me angry when a store lures me into their store with a coupon so that I make a minimum dollar amount purchase, and then not apply the coupon at checkout. I had originally planned on going to another store to buy pain medication, but decided to go to Dollar General because of the coupon.
