Hyundai recalls Santa Fe, Sonata, Veloster N, Santa Cruz, Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles

A transmission issue may cause a complete loss of drive power

Hyundai Motor Company is recalling 53,142 model year 2021-2022 Santa Fes, Sonatas, Veloster Ns, and model year 2022 Santa Cruzs, Elantra Ns & Kona Ns.

The “fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode may be impaired if the transmission oil pump malfunctions, which can result in a complete loss of drive power.

Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

What to do

Dealers will inspect and replace the transmission as necessary and update the transmission control unit software. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 5, 2022.
