For our pet health insurance, we don’t exclude pitbulls based solely on breed, unless they’ve aged out of eligibility. However, if you were asked that dog bite question, it means you were getting a quote for renters insurance instead.

    When it comes to renters insurance, there are certain state-by-state rules about dog bite liability coverage, and in some places we aren’t able to offer that coverage for all breeds. That’s likely why your application was denied, but it isn’t a reflection of our approach to pet health insurance.

    I was very disappointed with my experience with Lemonade pet insurance. When my dog Trixi was just over a year old, she vomited once after we changed her food. I mentioned it to our vet during her annual checkup, and it was simply noted in her file. Nearly a year later, Trixi developed a severe case of gastritis with bloody vomiting that required multiple vet visits and diagnostic tests.

    To my surprise, our claim was denied on the basis that “vomiting” was considered a pre-existing condition. It seems unreasonable to categorize a single, food-related incident as a pre-existing condition for any future illness that involves vomiting. Pets — like people — can vomit for countless reasons, and this interpretation feels both unfair and misleading to consumers. I would caution other pet owners to review the fine print carefully before purchasing coverage.

    I purchased Lemonade Pet Insurance for peace of mind and support in case my cat ever needed urgent care. Unfortunately, when my cat, Mercy, recently developed an upper respiratory infection (URI), my claim was denied. Lemonade classified the condition as pre-existing because Mercy had similar symptoms about 10 months ago. Even though upper respiratory infections in cats are typically acute, not chronic, and can occur multiple times in their lifetime (similar to the flu in humans), Lemonade decided that any recurrence within 12 months is not covered.

    They denied coverage for this common, treatable condition by labeling it “pre-existing.” Their reasoning? Mercy had a URI more than ten months before the policy start date, and they require a full 12 months without any symptoms to consider a condition “cured.” This interpretation makes routine illnesses practically uninsurable. By their logic, if a cat gets a cold once, they can refuse coverage for any similar illness unless 12 months pass with zero related symptoms. That is simply not realistic for pets — and they know it.

    When I requested clarification, I received generic policy language instead of genuine review or support. The policy clearly prioritizes the company’s benefit over the animal’s wellbeing and the paying customer. I will not be renewing and do not recommend Lemonade Pet Insurance. Be cautious — their definition of “pre-existing condition” is extremely broad and can easily be used to deny legitimate claims for common, unrelated illnesses. Pets deserve better, and so do responsible pet owners.

    I signed up for pet insurance through Lemonade after Nationwide cancelled the plan I had had with them for 7 years (Whole Wellness Pet Insurance was cancelled for all insured in 2025 because it wasn't profitable). I chose Lemonade for its coverage, as it was similar to what I had, that is, the 90% coverage and low deductible.

    Lemonade has low limits and uses all excuses not to cover claims. My dog had an ear infection and Lemonade denied the claim, alleging that was a pre-existing condition because my dog had had ear infections before. Which dog has not ever had ear infection is beyond me. And that being a "pre-existing" condition is a poor excuse, as it's not a chronic condition but a condition that may happen if exposed to water. As soon as the claim was denied, I canceled Lemonade. All insurance is a legitimized scam. Save your money, put it in savings and insure yourself.

    I signed up for Lemonade Pet Insurance one year ago for my 5-year-old maltipoo dog with a $500 deductible, 90% reimbursement, and $20,000 annual limit. The cost was $347 for the first year. This year, I received a renewal notice with an increased price of $601.27/yr. This is a 73% increase in a single year!!! When I called, I was told the price increases as a pet ages and takes into account inflation. My pup is completely healthy, and there have been no claims. I asked how the decision to increase it 73% was made and if it could be reviewed. I was flatly told "no." I asked if it would increase another 73% next year, and I was told "there is no way of knowing that." DO NOT GET SUCKERED IN BY THE LOW INITIAL QUOTE if you are planning to keep your pet insured long-term.

    Almost a year ago I lost my first cat Prince. He was year old and out of nowhere became really sick. I found out he had cancer and wasn’t going to make it due to extreme anima. After months of grieving I realized I should’ve had health insurance for my baby and I didn’t. I started to see many ads for Lemonade and gave it a shot for Prince's big sister Ella! Recently I had to take Ella to the vet three times Oct 3rd Oct 5th and Oct 7th each time I was worried how I was going to pay for all of her medical expenses. Would lemonade cover most of the costs? They sure did and knowing that brings me peace of mind, knowing that lemonade has our backs! In total lemonade saved us 1000 of out of pocket cost after meeting our $250 deductible. THANK YOU!

    This is a really easy to use and understand pet insurance. I have three dogs and two cats, I insured the two youngest dogs after a cost/benefit analysis. My vet sent in the records after they requested them so they could establish a baseline. Later, I submitted the bill and was sent my reimbursement about 30 seconds later. Way easier than I thought.

    STAY AWAY, this is a TERRIBLE company. They use bots disguised has humans to respond to emails, and don’t honor requests to cancel. I requested cancellation of my policy within a week of signing up due to poor customer service communication. A month later my request had not been honored so I repeated it to a rep named Jeff. By the end of September I noticed Lemonade had still been collecting payments from me. I notified them I had cancelled, requested a refund for the entirety of my payments and they refused.

    First time pet insurance user. I have a new kitten and Lemonade was recommended by my daughter who has it for her golden retriever. I bought the cat insurance and added on the kitten coverage. I’ve used it just once because I’ve only had my new baby for 2 weeks. Lemonade covered his microchipping, rabies vaccine. Testing for Fiv and fecal parasites. All covered and they paid for the kitten's ** prescription. When I went to the app to submit my claim an agent chat came up and walked me through the entire procedure in clear competent instructions then followed up to confirm the claim was accepted and the amt of the bill that was being reimbursed directly to my bank acct. I am so pleased with the coverage and the ease of submitting the claim. I’m so happy the kitten add on was available.

    Absolutely a Scam – Stay Away from Lemonade Pet Insurance. I can’t stress this enough: Lemonade Pet Insurance is an absolute scam. I’ve filed three different claims with them, and every single time they’ve found some excuse not to pay. Their favorite tactic? Linking everything to a so-called “pre-existing condition.” In my case, my dog has a chicken allergy. He hasn’t had chicken in over five years, and yet Lemonade still managed to connect his recent ear infection to that allergy. This company is not here to help you or your pet – they’re here to take your money and avoid paying at all costs. I’ve wasted so much money on premiums with nothing to show for it except endless frustration and disappointment. Do yourself and your pet a favor: don’t fall into the trap. Lemonade will happily collect your money, but when you actually need them, they will NOT be there for you.

    Our Sophie had a sudden intestinal problem and the vets immediate response was to see her urgently. The bill was over $700.00. The next day I used my Lemonade App to file the claim. The App led me through all the information needed and scanned the receipt right into the App and I was done. Within 4 hours I received notice of their payment toward that bill.     Lemonade Pet Insurance was one of the best purchases I ever made. I have owned many rescue dogs in my life so far and the past 3 years, costs were high as 3 of my non-insured rescues reached the end of their life. Of course I would do anything for them and thousands were spent to figure out issues, treat, and keep comfortable. Even an emergency fund can be wiped out very quickly. I said I would not get another dog but my new puppy was on his way to a shelter so I intervened. He is a large breed and AKC registered even. And large breeds come with large vet bills as they age. I signed up for injury and illness coverage as well as puppy plan for first year.

    In the first 2 visits I filed claim through app which is so extremely easy to use and claim was approved literally within seconds. And while reimbursement says 24-48 hours, it shows in my bank account the next day usually. They also have so many options to fit your budget. I highly recommend this pet insurance. And while you think “oh my dog is just a puppy I don’t need it”, invest early! You never know what can happen and costs continue to rise. I feel so much better knowing I have insurance for my sweet puppy!! I can honestly say I tell everyone I know to get this insurance!!

    I’ve owned dogs my entire life and have also volunteered for the Humane Society for many years. This is the first time I have ever purchased health insurance for my pet and will never do it again after my experience with Lemonade! Lemonade is by far the most disgraceful insurance company I’ve ever worked with. They will take any tiny little word out of the history of your pet's health and completely turn it against you.

    I adopted a dog and literally purchased this insurance just days later. Because she had diarrhea after changing her from the shelter food, they immediately refused to pay for any kind of gastrointestinal issues due to newly developed IBD even a full year later. Not only that, because she’s a scared dog and had a stress related heart murmur in her very first vet visit, they would not cover arrhythmias due to a heart issue that she developed later in life. This company is a prime example of why people demonize health insurance. Their behavior is absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Do not waste your time or money, this company is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!

    I hate this company with every fiber in my body. I have been unable to reach a live person to resolve my claims issue. They refuse to let me speak with a manager and have requested document after document for my dog, in addition to reaching out to my vet.     Researched a LOT of pet insurances after adopting our 7yr old kitty, and Lemonade had the most comprehensive plan at a reasonable rate. Unfortunately, our sweet girl has been to the vet on several occasions with digestive issues, getting x-rays, an ultrasound, meds, etc., so I'm extremely glad to have the insurance. The Lemonade app is so easy to use! To submit a claim I open the app, answer a few simple questions about my pet's symptoms, the vet visit, even how my pet is doing currently.     Lemonade Pet Insurance has been a major disappointment. I insured my 5 year old pup, Ollie, with Nationwide Pet Insurance for years and never had an issue, claims were processed within 2–3 business days. With Lemonade, my recent claim sat for over a month before being denied due to a so called “pre-existing condition”. Their reasoning? That my dog had diarrhea before. Honestly, what dog hasn’t had diarrhea at some point? The only reason I switched to Lemonade was to save some money, but in the long run, it’s cost me more in time, stress, and uncovered expenses. I will gladly pay more and switch back to Nationwide.

    I have Lemonade as pet insurance for my dog. I. The first year they have paid out over $10,000 worth in claims alone - most in less than 10seconds and without a human reviewing it. They’re awesome!! The app is easy to use, the coverages are written in plain English (as is the entire policy so it’s easy to understand and not trying to trap you) and it’s very easy to customize coverages to get the pricing needed. Their support for customers is top notch - though unavailable on weekends.     Very disappointed with Lemonade Pet Insurance. I feel they are very misleading. I turned in an $800 vet bill after almost 30 days. I only got $150 back. It was not a complicated claim at all. Very simple claim. I even opted for all of the add-ons and the most expensive policy they offered. My suggestion if you’re looking for pet insurance to save money and still be able to get your pet the care they deserve look elsewhere. Lemonade will not do either of those things.

    Lemonade proudly markets itself as “Insurance That Actually Helps” and “Insurance That Doesn’t Suck” — but my experience has been exactly the opposite. I purchased pet insurance to protect my dog, Ellie, and instead was met with a series of frustrating, borderline absurd claim denials that make it clear this company is far more committed to avoiding payouts than supporting pet owners.

    Ellie needed surgery for a fractured tooth — something explicitly stated in their policy as covered if caused by an injury. Yet Lemonade denied the claim, claiming the fracture was due to periodontal disease, with no definitive evidence to back that up. When I challenged this and offered to provide clarification from my vet, I was told the record “didn’t support” coverage — unless I personally tracked down and resubmitted more proof. So much for help.

    Separately, Ellie’s eye and ear infections were denied as “pre-existing” based on seasonal allergy notes from months before — even though there's no way to prove these new conditions were caused by the same issue. According to Lemonade, any past symptom means nothing remotely similar will ever be covered again. That’s not reasonable — it’s predatory. Lemonade’s entire process feels engineered to deny coverage through technicalities and generalizations. It’s exhausting, disingenuous, and absolutely does not live up to the promises in their branding. I’ve canceled my policy, and I’ll be warning others: If you're looking for pet insurance that actually helps — Lemonade isn’t it.

    I would stay as far away from this insurance company as you can get as they don’t pay the claims. I bought a wellness policy from them for a kitten I purchased. My contract with the breeder required that my veterinarian do a wellness exam on the kitten within 72 hours of him coming home. I made sure my insurance was in place before I took my kitten to my vet for his wellness exam. The purpose for the exam was to get a baseline health indication for the kitten so we would know if there were any pre-existing conditions going forward. The kitten pass with flying colors. Included in the wellness exam was a booster shot, and a deworming, which is common in all kittens and it’s normally required two or three times.

    The vet also cleaned his ears because they looked dirty. My kitten returned to the vet two weeks later to get a follow-up booster shot. I submitted two claims to Lemonade totaling about $200, all wellness issues. Lemonade immediately denied both claims for the following reasons: I was told the first wellness exam was not covered because I didn’t wait out the 30-day waiting period and the second claim was denied because of vet tech gave my kitten his booster shot instead of the veterinarian who was attending to an emergency at the time of my appointment. I called and spoke to an underwriter at Lemonade and asked about the 30-day waiting period. I was told by two different underwriters that wellness claims had no waiting period.

    When I ask them to look at my file and see why the claims were denied, I was told that the claims department denied coverage because I didn’t wait out the 30-day waiting period and because they considered the ear cleaning and illness. I asked the underwriters to look at my claims and they indicated that the claims should’ve been paid with the exception of ear cleaning as a wellness claim and was not subject to the waiting period. The underwriter resubmitted my claim and I again got a denial due to the waiting period issue. Checking the wording in my policy, it clearly states that wellness claims have no waiting period. Needless to say, I immediately cancel my coverage. I am out over $200 as I cannot submit those wellness claims to my new insurance company. I will be forwarding my issue to the Arizona Department of Insurance to see if the claims denial was legal.

    If I could rate this company negative stars I would. This company Lemonade pet insurance is greedy, nasty, and disgusting. For a backstory my husband and I found a beagle that was injured, starving, and in pain and took him in off the street to be cared for because he was going to die if someone didn’t help him. We’ve named him Ranger and he is doing much better now but to absolutely no thanks to this disgusting insurance company. They made me jump through hoops for weeks knowing every little detail about my claim from the very first day. They knew they were going to deny it from day 1 and still had me so stressed out trying to get them all the paperwork they needed. They covered approximately $0 from the $1100 claim. They wasted my time, money and energy. I was trying to help a poor innocent animal who has seen only the worst of humanity and they decided instead of helping they would add to it.

    Abigail who was my claims specialist who was the one who specifically made this process particularly horrible should be ashamed of herself, she is a nasty, disgusting, greedy, waste of breath human being. She should be locked away for the stress she caused and took enjoyment from doing. This company takes advantage of people and animals. They are greedy and only care about money. It’s disgusting. I honestly cannot say enough horrible things about these people. I pray no one has to deal with them while trying to help a sick animal because they only make everything 100x worse. That being said I would have paid everything out of pocket and been done with it then deal with these people. They are vile human beings.

    Although I had been reasonably happy with Lemonade Pet Insurance but not anymore. Buyer beware. I had submitted a claim and expected that I would need to pay the deductible before any payout occurred. My deductible was $500 (pet insurance does NOT work like human health insurance). I had to update my address because I moved while my part was in treatment and although I had claims more than $300 in claims that were applied against my deductible. With the change of address they started my plan over with a new carrier they acquired and my deductible started over. They are a ripoff but I’m stuck with them because now my dog has a pre-existing condition and no other carrier will cover it. Unlike human health insurance, pre-existing issues are covered if you have had continuous coverage prior to changing. The pet insurance industry needs regulation. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

    If I could give it 0 stars I would. This is the biggest scam in the world for pet insurance. 1) They calculate coinsurance before applying what you paid to your deductible - so basically, you'll never reach it. 2) They take forever to process claims. 3) They refused to support reimbursement for neuter or spay. 4) They refused to cover exam fees, so the second you walk into the vet, assume you're covering 50% of the visit rather than just your coinsurance and deductible. 5) You can't file a claim on their website. It HAS to be through the app. I could go on and on. Don't bother with this company for pet insurance.

    Lemonade ended up being one the worse experiences I experienced on top of an emergency vet not catching the actual issue with my dog that I'm about to paid to have a necropsy done to try and see if I can figure out what no one caught. It started off going for a run which I thought exacerbated something like arthritis and then eventually turned into the vet thinking it was a torn meniscus, but as of today, as of 1 am while waiting for Thursday to have a specialist look at him, my sweet precious Remus passed away at home.

    At this point I have no idea what from, but Lemonade was no help, and even denied my claim after taking a month. I am like many other people, I'm not made of money, so I was scared to spend more, but I more than paid the vet visit with having Lemonade for 10-11 months. To make it even worse, the day they FINALLY updated my claim is the exact day he passed away. I should have known it would be a scam, insurances usually are. If you guys had just helped me out, and made me feel like someone was there to help me, I would have tried talking to the vet about more, or something.. somehow. Just something...

    I submitted the first claim because I took my cat to emergency hospital. They keep asking for records in other hospitals where my pet has never been. I told them that, I called their customer service and let them know, I forwarded them the email I received from the hospital. They were asking the record, saying very clear they don’t have record of my pet. Surprise! After more than a month dealing with this issue and presenting evidence, they denied the claim anyway. Just like that. Whether this is their MO or the case manager took very personal when I let her know how difficult she was making my effort to not think this is one of the DDD strategy commonly known as part of the insurance company's way of saving money.

    They sound great and the app is easy to use but their business model and policy is to deny claims based on their understanding of the claim regardless of whether the doctor told them their interpretation is incorrect. They encourage you to appeal their denial because they want you to continue paying the premium as they delay their response to you. They use agentic AI to respond to your follow-up emails. They are all repeats of the first response email just worded slightly differently. The appeal decision repeats their original decision wording and does not take into account anything the doctor provided to them to correct their inaccurate assumptions.

    They make it hard to cancel and try to convince you to stay by saying no other insurance will now take my dog because his issue would be considered pre-existing. Complete waste of my time and money and an extremely frustrating experience. They sound good and talk the talk but they don't walk the walk - they truly don't care about their customers' or pets' best interests.

    Lemonade is very expensive for what little they cover. Additionally they raise your rate without providing notification to you. They claim to also track your contacts with you in violation of privacy policies. Regardless of that, the emails they claim to have sent do not indicate a rate increase. This is a disreputable company and I don't recommend them.

    Lemonade Pet Insurance completely failed me. I submitted a claim for my dog Max (Claim #**) with all the required documents and waited patiently for over 4 weeks. After the long wait, they denied the claim without a clear explanation. Their service was slow, unprofessional, and totally lacking in transparency. They promote “simple and fair” insurance — but when you actually need them, they find reasons to deny coverage. Very disappointing and feels like a scam. I do not recommend Lemonade to any responsible pet owner. I’m considering reporting this to the insurance commissioner.

    I had an outrageous experience with Lemonade Pet Insurance. I have 4 pets covered, never had a claim and then my dog got hookworm, which should be covered. It was an endless back-and-forth with difficulty speaking to a live person. In the end they denied the claim which feels like fraud. I've canceled all 4 policies.

    I switched over to Lemonade for my pet insurance and am very happy I did. Not only are they less expensive than the other policy I had for years, their claims submission process is easy and their payments are quick. I think they are using AI and it allows them to keep their prices down. They have paid every claim I have submitted so far. I'm glad I made the switch. You do need to know how to use a smart phone, as claims are made using your phone, not a computer. But that shouldn't be a problem for most people. The process is easy, but it's all done through their app.

    I am having a terrible experience with Lemonade Insurance. We have a pet insurance for our Cat who had to go in for an emergency operation. It has been over a month, and the claim still has not been paid. I would not recommend this pet insurance to anyone. I see that on their website, they claim that they process all claims within 48 hours, that is a complete lie. Very unhappy with the claims process.

    If your puppy has ever eaten something that didn't agree with him and threw it up, then he has a pre-existing condition and they will deny anything that has to do with throwing up, diarrhea or stomach issues of any kind. Since we couldn't do business, I requested my money back and was denied. That is how they make their money. They won't get any more of my money, but hopefully they won't get yours. My vet advised me that there are some decent pet insurance companies, but this is not one of them.

    Fraudulent business practices. Charged me 3x for a cancelled policy that I had over 2 years ago for a past due balance. Never let me know I would be charged for that before proceeding to checkout for my cat's new policy. It explicitly stated I would be charged $55 for my cat's new policy. Never received the insurance and they won’t refund my money due to the past due balance. Nowhere on my checkout page did it say I would be charged for the past due balance, only the new policy I was intending to purchase. Didn’t send an email with my confirmation stating the past due balance either. I had to find out from customer service and all they would say was “sorry”. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company and go with one that has morals and legal business practices.

    I’m new to Lemonade, and I’m already ready to cancel. My first claim was denied because they determined that my dog’s prior ear infection was a preexisting condition. His vet disagrees. The first time he was seen, he had yeast in his ears (post shelter) and the second time he had an itchy ear due to hair (and mulch?) that he’d gotten in there. There was no yeast or bacteria present in the cytology, and so the vet sent additional information. Denied again. It’s ridiculous.

    I signed up with Lemonade Pet Insurance hoping for peace of mind for my young, healthy dog. Unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating and disappointing. They denied a claim for a vet visit when my dog was clearly unwell — she had persistent diarrhea, and I was concerned enough to take her to the vet specifically for evaluation and treatment. Lemonade rejected the claim, stating it was due to a pre-existing condition.

    I was confused, as my pup had never been treated for diarrhea before. After requesting the vet records, I discovered that during a routine wellness visit three months earlier — when my pup was just three months old — I had casually mentioned she’d had one loose stool the day before. The vet noted it briefly, said it had resolved, and wrote that she was doing well with “no concerns.”

    Despite this, Lemonade cited that single, resolved episode as a basis to deny the much later claim, even though the two incidents were entirely different in context and severity. They explained that symptoms alone — not a diagnosed illness — can be considered pre-existing. That means if your puppy ever vomited or had a loose stool once, they may try to deny any future claims involving similar symptoms, regardless of the actual diagnosis or medical context.

    This kind of overly broad interpretation of what qualifies as a pre-existing condition undermines the whole point of having pet insurance — which is supposed to help with new and unexpected illnesses. I wanted to trust this company, but in my experience, Lemonade does not support its customers when it matters most. I would not recommend them to pet owners seeking real protection or fair claims handling. If you do sign up, be warned: anything you casually mention to your vet — even if it never required treatment — may later be used to deny you coverage when your pet is genuinely sick.

    My dog recently suffered a carpal hyperextension injury while playing fetch. Thankfully, Lemonade has made the process of filing a claim incredibly easy so far. Submitting the claims related to this injury for the eligible procedures covered under my policy was simple and straightforward.     I purchased kitten insurance for my 0-6 month old kitten. It stated it paid for 80% of vet bills and neutering or spaying was available. I chose the higher premium to help take care of the bill. Shots and blood work. They decided I didn't purchase the insurance for a kitten even though I put the cat's age in. I picked the basic they said - when I did not. I know what I read. Then gave me a breakdown of what they actually pay only up to 60.00 for blood work - that was 150.00. Up this or that price barely making a dent. I would have have to say the wishy washy ways of this company is awful. It ends you pay for insurance and then the vet bill too. Going with a better insurance company.

    Posting a claim is very quick, easy, and uncomplicated. In most cases, it is resolved in seconds with the refund issued. This has helped so much as our older dog begins to experience new health challenges. I wish we had gotten it when he was a puppy. You just don’t know what you don’t know. Now all 3 of our pets are covered by Lemonade.

    I would like to share my experience with a recent annual price increase on an annual premium for a pet insurance. My monthly premium went up from 60.72/month to 81.80/month - that is an astounding 34% increase !!!! I didn't notice it until recently and so I called - I was told that they couldn't do anything and so I am pretty much stuck on it. I started with Lemonade about a year ago, and so they clearly got me signed up for a lower price and price gouging with an astounding increase. It is difficult for me to switch insurance as the underwriting would take, they know it and so they are taking pure advantage. I do expect annual increased, but not 34%. This needs to be investigated as this isn't fair business practice at all. I have been very happy with them in general, but this was not something I had expected. Just wanted to make sure that people looking at Lemonade as an insurance options are aware of the potential annual increases.

    I appreciate all of my plan details are easy to understand (copay deductible %s etc) and I can submit paperwork/claims super easy on the app. I like that I can connect my bank account to the app so the payments are direct deposited. I appreciate that they spell out what is and is not covered so things are super clear. They can also contact your vet office if they have questions so I am not running around asking a lot of people for help with an insurance claim.     I have had Lemonade for 4 years for pet insurance and it started off well enough, but boy has it gone downhill. And unfortunately I am stuck with them because if I needed another company, my dogs’ conditions would be considered pre-existing. BEWARE, they try to get out of paying for whatever they can!! Customer service on the phone is a JOKE, and incompetent. I just had a claim for one of my dogs where she was acting moody and strange and not like herself, so I had a blood panel done at the vet to make sure there wasn’t something MEDICALLY wrong. They denied the claim saying that “behavioral” conditions aren’t covered in my policy, and I explained that I wasn’t having a “behavioral” condition claimed, but that I went to the vet to make sure nothing was MEDICALLY wrong.

    Having bloodwork done falls under medical. But as another reviewer stated, what they do is latch onto specific wording instead of the actual illness/condition and will reject your claim if there is the slightest chance the wording used in vets notes can be interpreted in two or more ways. So I called “customer service” to file an appeal and the lady told me she would have to get my appeal to an actual claims agent. That never happened. I sent an email a month ago, never got a reply. Called a second time, nothing got done. Followed up with second AND third emails AND calls, and NOTHING for a month!! Then out of the blue, I get an email about my appeal, where they reopened the WRONG claim about my dog’s allergies!!!! And get this, they’re now trying to say my dog’s allergies, which they’ve been covering for FOUR years, are pre-existing!! HUH??

    So not only did they reopen the WRONG claim and never addressed my appeal on the other, but now they’re trying to deny something totally unrelated that has been covered for YEARS! I literally don’t think these people can read or have reading comprehension! They will take your premiums like clockwork, but try to get out of paying for whatever they can. The lady on the phone today said she would file an appeal, and I had to go through everything to make sure she was clear on what was being appealed because they all sound really idiotic! And why can’t I appeal for MYSELF? I should be the one speaking on my own behalf on an appeal, as I don’t know what info she is passing on or if it’s correct.

    They try to lump in things like ear infections with allergies and say it’s pre-existing, what a joke. Please read all negative reviews about their claims denials and BEWARE. This place has become a complete fraudulent scam, with totally incompetent people in whatever they call customer service. STAY AWAY from them. They have no morals or ethics and could care less about your pets, only taking your premium money.

    The claims process was quick and easy. The only problem was determining what on the Vet's bill was covered and what wasn't. For instance I was asked if any blood test were done, and I couldn't tell by reading the invoice. Thus I am not sure of everything that could be covered was covered. I did get an immediate response as to what I submitted was or was not covered. Received payment in my account in less than 4 working days.

    Me and my dog love Lemonade. My dog is my first as an adult independent pet owner. I went back and forth on insuring him as none of my childhood dogs were insured. Ended up going with lemonade at the recommendation of a friend. Eight months and my boy snatched a pill or something off the street, he needed an emergency room visit and an overnight stay followed by DAYS of Diarrhea, follow up appointments and meds. Thankfully he made a full recovery quickly with the help of our incredible care team but we saved thousands with lemonade. Lemonade processed my claims quickly and I had reimbursements for the visit within two days. The policy has already paid for itself three times over and I will never have an uninsured pet after this experience.

    I've only filed two claims with them and both of them were problematic. First claim, they said they never received the SOAP notes from the vet. They did. Second claim filed last week. They claim that I have another pet insurance for my dog, which is blatantly false, yet they refuse to prove this to me or submit any documentation for it. They are asking me to submit information to them that I simply do not have. Furthermore, upon receipt of this claim, they said they would pay when my dog met his $500 deductible. Wrong again. Delay and deny is their game. Yet like clockwork the premium is deducted from my bank account right on cue. I am now in a position where my dog needs to see a specialist and that claim will likely get denied and I cannot switch insurance companies because he will now have a "pre existing" condition. Furious doesn't even begin to cover how mad I am.

    Lemonade has been a lifesaver (literally) for my kitty. Earlier in the year of 2024 I decided to get insurance for my cat. Later on that year, she was unfortunately diagnosed with large cell lymphoma. This insurance has been the reason I have been able to continue to pay for her treatments (with the assistance of credit cards) but because I get the money back, I am able to put money back on those cards to continue to pay for her treatments. The app makes the process super easy and I don’t have to stress as much while going through this difficult time with my soul kitty. Smaller transactions are typically reimbursed within seconds, which is extremely convenient. I definitely recommend this insurance.

    Lemonade is the worst. I have been waiting 3 weeks for a claim and sent them everything twice and still nothing. All ever get from them is it's still in review. I already canceled 1 pet and once my claim is denied which I'm pretty sure will be because I saw the reviews afterwards they don't like to payout. I will be canceling my other pet. I almost got renters insurance through them and so glad I didn't. ASCPA has cheaper and better pet insurance so I am switching to them.

    I purchased this policy for my 10 week old Labrador Retriever in August 2024. This policy was recommended by my primary veterinarian. In November 2024, my dog was diagnosed with entropion and required surgery. After submitting all of his medical records, none of which mention entropion, Lemonade Pet Insurance denied my claim. Their rationale was because he had watery eyes when he was at his initial vet visit. He had an eye infection in October and was examined by a veterinarian and at no time did this vet mention entropion. Both visits to his primary veterinarian, indicate his eyes were normal. I am now in the appeal process however it does take my representative a significant amount of time to respond to my calls and emails. After doing a little research I have found many other people with similar experiences of “pre existing condition” denials.

    Lemonade is an amazing pet insurance company. Our dog escaped the yard and was hit by a car, requiring significant treatment over the last 7 months. From a leg amputation to another very long leg healing process to an eventual toe amputation... we have been so grateful for this insurance. We made choices based on her medical need, not money, and had absolutely no issues with the reimbursement process. Not only is the claim process incredibly easy but the payout is fast - usually no more than a few days. While the monthly cost has increased and does each year, it is still 100% worth it for us.

    I have kept Lemonade’s insurance on my cat, Tanuki, for several years. They have saved her life more than once. They helped me be able to cure her hyperthyroidism with radiation therapy, and most recently, they’ve helped her pull through an emergency surgery for an accident that totaled around $10,000 on her release.

    Never once have I felt like Lemonade was going out of their way to find ways to deny coverage, as so many other insurance companies do. Read your policy carefully, and you will know exactly what is covered and what is not. Their UI is the most convenient I’ve ever experienced. Their human agents are sincere, prompt, and helpful. What’s not to love? I work with animals every day and I constantly sing Lemonade’s praise. 10/10, Lemonade has earned my full loyalty and trust!

    I purchased this insurance for my kitten based on a recommendation from a coworker. I work at a veterinary hospital. I filed a claim for a visit for vomiting. Mind you I can see when they requested records and when we sent them. They lied about when they sent request and received. I have send a couple emails and called with nothing helpful but thanks for your patience. It’s still says reviewing records 3 weeks later. He’s only been to the vet twice so it’s not like there is much to review.

    I've had Lemonade for about a year for a cat and a dog. They both went to the vet and the bill was covered toward their deductible. My cat then went in for constipation. SAME reason for the visit already covered and was denied the claim. He then went in for a UTI and was again denied as they said it was pre-existing because it was listed in the constipation claim. WHAT? TOOK A MONTH to get that ruling.

    I've had Lemonade Pet insurance since November 2024. I took our new cat into a vet for a simple wellness exam which will be a month ago in 3 days. I read her policy THOROUGHLY and her exam was covered as well as her medication. Our cat had NO health issues except was prescribed a de-worming shot and sent home with medication to treat her symptoms for 1 week. She is well! Today is January 31, 2024, I still have NOT been reimbursed their portion of her insurance. It's been all excuses and I'm tired of it really. I read a bunch of fake 5 star reviews about the fast claims process and it's a bunch of malarkey! Please be aware of this insurance company. You've been warned!

    On Jan 3. 2023 I brought my cat Leo to the vet. Because my cat was vomiting, and having diarrhea. The vet didn’t know why. He thought there was something stuck in his stomach, and or something he ate. I told him no, the cat only eats cat food. The vet told me there have been a lot of reports of cats getting sick from seafood. He told me to stay away from fish.

    They gave Leo cat food, probiotics, and something to calm him down from the stress. Including the visit that came out to the total cost of $247.69. I submitted the total cost to Lemonade Pet Insurance for reimbursement on Jan 3, 2024. They told me there is other paperwork that they need to see. They want to know what the vet said. They want to look at the vet notes. I was told that I do not have them. They will get it from the vet, and I will be reimbursed within 2 to 3 days.

    Jan 16, 2024, I contacted Lemonade Pet Insurance about my reimbursement? They said they never received anything from the vet office. The same day I contacted the vet office and they said that they gave the paperwork to Leo’s pet insurance on Jan 3rd, and Jan 8th. On Jan 17th I got an update from the insurance company saying “we’re closely reviewing Leo’s medical history so we can best handle your claim.” Today is Jan 29th and it is still saying that. It is almost a full month, and they still didn’t handle my claim.

    I got pet insurance from Lemonade for my 2 dogs. I paid the quote. Seems I did not understand part of the application. They told me there may be a change in the cost of the policy. On a Saturday evening they told me they were charging my credit card on Sunday for $282. Lemonade's phone answering answering system said that I could not speak with anyone until Monday. They took my money without my informed consent. Had I known that Aliya's policy would be so expensive, I would have said no thank you. When I tried to get clarification, the representative blew smoke at me. And then, they sent my complaint to the person I was complaining about! Wow! I guess Lemonade's management isn't interested in their employee's behavior. Don't trust them!!!!

    With an approx 4 month rescue puppy with no medical record/history, I was expecting claims to be challenged or problems. This was not my experience with Lemonade and its easy/fast claim process and clear communication. I was used to other insurance companies paying out on customary charges reduced for geographic area, which is always an issue in an area as large as Los Angeles. This did not happen with Lemonade. In a 2 month period they paid 80% for X-rays on first vet visit, kennel cough 4 weeks later and laceration surgery from a dog attack the following month. This rescue puppy would have cost me $$$ more money without the excellent coverage of Lemonade. I chose the $150 month coverage with $250 deductible. Keep up the good work Lemonade!

    DO NOT GET LEMONADE. This is the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with, and that's saying something. My 2.5 year old dog, who has never had ANY major medical issues, was denied reimbursement for his ear infection medication because Lemonade claims that he has a history of ALLERGIES and that an EAR INFECTION is somehow an ALLERGY RESPONSE. Therefore, they assert, it is a PREEXISTING CONDITION and does not qualify for coverage. Nor does the cost of his doctor visit. Nor does the cost of his flea medication, ear infection prescription, or preventative care shots. SO WHAT IS COVERED?! WHAT IS THE POINT?! You guys are horrible. EAR INFECTIONS ARE NOT ALLERGIES YOU IDIOTS.

    I can definitely say that Lemonade is the best pet insurance I have ever experienced. I am always grateful for their prompt work. My dog ​​has diabetes and needed cataract surgery due to the diabetes. Lemonade covered it all. So my dog ​​is now living a new life. Thanks Lemonade.

    I started my pet policy on 12.23.24. On 12.27.24 I requested to add coverage to my policy, which Lemonade states needs to be made within 14 days of the start date of policy. Obviously well within the time frame, yet, they are denying the added coverage. This is my first experience with pet insurance, and it appears Lemonade does not honor their own policy rules. I will be canceling my policy with them and moving it elsewhere.

    I’m so thankful I’ve gotten this insurance! Super easy to file claims and I got money back so fast! Literally a touch of a few buttons in the app and just send a picture of my receipt from the vet and I was good to go! Honestly was surprised on how easy it was!

    Don't bother using this insurance. They take forever to handle claims and constantly try to find tiny bits of excuses to deny legitimate claims. They rejected to reimburse my golden retriever suffering from blockage due to ingesting chicken bones, because she had diarrhea in the past.

    I took my cat Bentley in for a basic exam and bloodwork recently. When I got home, I jumped on the Lemonade app to file a claim for both the exam fee and blood work costs.
