I contacted Diamond and they are investigating my original complaint as of this time. And since I actually wrote the review, one by one, my dogs seem to be improving. I'm now thinking I jumped the gun (because of other complaints I've read here and there) and maybe this bag of food is okay. I don't think it smells bad/strong like the original one I got refunded.

But when you're dogs look at you, smell the bowl of food, and walk away, what are you to think? I am thinking this may be some kind of flu bug, moving from one dog to another. It's not bad, like throwing up or diarrhea, just not eating. I wanted to enter this 'resolution' when I saw my complaint published. I do not want Diamond getting a bad rap due to me jumping the gun on what I thought was bad food.

I have been feeding Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice for at least 5 years now. We have a kennel of 8 dogs. Over a month ago, I opened a bag of food that just didn't smell right but thought maybe I just hadn't noticed it before. Then my dogs started being picky and finally not eating. So I called Diamond and they immediately refunded my money. So I guess I was happy enough about that, and I dumped that bag of food. Since then, I've probably went through two more bags, and the dogs have ate fine. Now, I'm about 1/3 way through another bag and it did not smell when I opened it, but now it is starting to smell and the dogs are not eating. Is the food spoiling after we open the bag? I keep it in a large sealed plastic dog food bin after I open it.

I purchased two bags since January 1st and both bags have had weird kibbles that do not belong with this food. It also appears like the Diamond plant is hiding whatever is around in the middle of the bag to make weight.

I gave my 2 yr old lab Diamond Naturals extreme athlete dog food, which costs $35.99/bag at local TSC store. We switched from another diamond naturals brand because the bag smelled rancid & our dog was having foul gas & diarrhea. The first bag of extreme athlete had a good smell & the dog had less gas and back to normal stool. The second bag we purchased was rancid and not realizing it, our dog had a weeks worth of bad food. She again developed potent/foul gas and severe diarrhea. We exchanged the affected bag and checked the new bag for quality. The bag at the store was rancid. The third bag we checked smelled fine & we took that one home. So a totoal of 3 bags of Diamond Naturals were rancid & caused our dog to have potent/foul gas & diarrhea.

I have two golden retrievers and was advised that since one was allergic that diamond dog food might be the way to go. I switched to Diamond dog food and got 1/2 way thru the bag when she started getting diahrea and threw up constantly. The vet could not find what was wrong and gave her pills for diahrea and put her on a rice and chicken diet. The other dog also got it and I then had two dogs with it. I took them off the Diamond and put them back on after the diahrea and vomiting stopped and it started all over again. I thought it was a digestive issue and changed dog foods to Healthwise dog food, and now they are starting it all over again....is healthwise related to Diamond, or do they have the same ingredients?

Our dog "Sam" was switched to Diamond Dog food - over a short period of time (about 6 months) he became deathly ill. He lost over 20lbs, has RB levels of 12- test after test was ran and a correct diagnosis could be deteremined - during all these tests he would get better as I fed him a bland no dog food diet and was able to digest his food, then I would introduce the diamond back to him and he would become ill again. Finally after the diag. of auto immune - I began to research the disease finding that some link it to a perservative in dog food, Diamond dog food contains that perservative so I contacted Diamond - Melissa Brookshire - and addressed my concern -over a period of time I had several emails from her, upon discussion with our family vet and watching Sam recover from removing Diamond from his diet I requested her to request Sam's records for possible reimbursement of expenses. After 2 weeks of no response I requested an update and then at that time she did req. his records and could not determine from the records how the dog food could have caused Sam's illness - the fact that removing it from his diet and he recovered apparently was not enough. Melissa indicated that she was awaiting a response from my vet, but since I mentioned a legal option that my case was now closed and she was unable to contact our family vet. Sam's diet consists of all homemade dog foods now and at the last visit gained over 5 lbs. Today I am taking him to check his current weight. His personality and his level of activity is back to normal and the last blood test showed his RB count at 33. In the beginning of September he was given a 20% chance of survival.

they are still selling nutri nuggets in Sri Lanka of Diamond Products and since it is a third world country, it is likely that not many dog owners are aware that this is a banned and recalled product. My dog started vomitting after it consumed the nuggets.

Aside from having spent Rs 17,000 on getting her cured, which is still uncertain, I woulld like you to please get this food recalled from Sri Lanka as well immediately through the international press so that no other dogs will die. It is rather difficult to get your dog back once it is gone... and compensation rarely replaces the dog itself. Thank you.

I Lost a 5 year old lab to a puffy tan colored vomit. The dog went into a pond trying to re hydrate herself and died. The illness I felt was due to food/poisoning. This was in december of 2006. I now have a 3 month old lab puppy that I fed 2 bowls of Diamond Professional adult dog food and the same results came about. Tan colored puffy vomit which in turn was followed by blood in her pen. She was rushed to a vet and no viruses or parasites were found.

The dog food manufacturer says that the food was out dated and caused this problem. How can an un opened bag in a controlled environment go bad? Evidently given the situation the food had been sitting in a warehouse for months. Diamond pet foods would not even consider paying vet bills due to the production date code on the bag. mar 30 2006. I purchased the food around October/November 2006 from a retail store. I do not have receipts from purchase but do have The bag of food.
