I have a 6-year old Siberian Husky. I was running her a lot and needed extra protein, but when we stopped running her so much, it was too much to be in her diet, so we switched to another quality food and found Canidae. We've had more good experiences with Canidae.

Canidae is a great food and my dogs love it. I have a Golden Retriever and a Doberman Pinscher. The Doberman was having lots of issues with skin allergies, he's allergic to a lot of things. I talked to someone and he said that Canidae didn’t have all fillers like the other food. The other food was cheap but we had to feed him a lot and he pooped all the time. So I put them on Canidae and it's worth it and I was happy with it. Then we have a 1-year-old puppy and he's not able to tolerate the regular Canidae, so we ended up going with the grain-free stuff.

At the time I chose it, it met what I thought my requirements were for my dogs' activity level. It's very valuable for me to feed my pets natural ingredients, although I alternate the Canidae with an Alpha Feed and raw diet as well. That way my pets get some raw and Canidae is the kibble. Overall, I found Canidae to be a good and trustworthy product. They don't seem to have any of the negative PR that some of the other supposedly high-quality dog food have. Their price has remained consistent as well. They're fantastic and I have confidence feeding it to my dogs - their coats look great and they're healthy. I recommend them all the time too.

Seven of my pets in different ages were on Canidae Life Stages for about a year. It's the most important thing for them to have natural ingredients. However, I switched them because they were sick and tired of it. Having said that, Canidae has good quality products.

Canidae is good quality food, has great service. We've been buying Life Stages for years as it's good for all stages. Since we have three cats with different years between them, it's gotten really hard to feed just kitty food so that's one of the reasons we went with it. Our dog has always been on the food recommended for middle-aged dogs and we've recently just started him on the one for the older dogs and he loves it. It gives them a longer, healthier life. We have a lot less little bombs going on in the house and cleanup in the yard is simpler. It also gives them a nice, cleaner coat. The fat that they seem to like it is the best reason for buying the food.

I have been using Canidae for 20 years. I had a Chocolate Lab that had severe allergies, and it was suggested to me to try that. My mom was also using the product so I thought I'd give it a try. I started using it with my dog and everything went away. He did not have any tail feather hair and it all came back. The dogs eat healthy for the most part and have nice coats. Plus I don't have to do many additives to keep them healthy.

I have two dogs, poodle terrier mixed breeds, that were on Iams. I tried this brand and found my 10 lb dog could not chew the kibble. I tried breaking up the kibble unsuccessfully in the food processor, putting it in a plastic bag, and using a meat tenderizer...no luck...and soaking it with chicken broth and only the outer part of the kibble would soften, but the nugget was still rock hard. I am most disappointed with the lack of caring customer care at the company. I called the company directly and the girl I asked basic questions to did not know the answers, e.g., What is the percent of meat and what percent are the other ingredients?

I currently have a four-year old chocolate Lab/Vizla and an eight-month old Yorkie Papillion and they're both on Canidae All Life Stages. Even when I had my 17-year old dog, she was on the same food as the puppy. All Life Stage is easier and I didn't have to buy multiple kinds of dog food. I think feeding them natural ingredients is much healthier than feeding them processed food. I get compliments all the time about how shiny my dog's coat is and how his skin is. It's got to be due the Canidae dry food because that's the only thing he's ever eaten on a daily basis, besides a bite here and there of people food. The only downside on this dog food is the pellets are small and bigger dogs sometimes choke on them. But other than that, I've been pleased and happy with Canidae.

We have a Weimaraner, a high energy dog. We fed Canidae to him for about three years, but we went away from it and bought food from Costco that was recommended by a friend. It was about half the price and the nutritional content seemed to be really good and impressive. We fed it to him for about a year or so. The ingredients in the Canidae for cats is also good quality. I feed primarily canned food and very little dry food. My cats are not fat but they're solid muscle mass and they have nice hair coats. I've been buying Canidae for a couple of years now. We have two pit bulls. Feeding them natural ingredients is the ideal thing to do. Canidae have been very good. I get a free bag every year after twelve bags I bought. Everything seems to be okay except one of my dogs is dying, it's got cancer. I didn't know if there was anything in Canidae that might cause that. I didn't see it on the ingredients but you never know what with dog food. The dogs are very young, actually. The female's not even four. She seems to be okay so far. The male's not even five. He's too young to die. The female was given to us by a neighbor, then we inherited the one that's dying. Before she gave it to us, she always fed them Canidae so we're stuck with that.

The nutrients provided are superior to what's available in grocery, Petsmart and Petco inventory. A bit more costly but since the concentrated nutrition is much more easily digested and converted into my dog's energy, he's healthier and in much better physical condition than when he was eating Iams products. Stools are about 80% less in volume since useless fillers are absent, muscle tone and coat are greatly improved.

I used Canidae Natural Pet Foods for more than five years. It was an all stage food, one that I could feed to puppies and adults so I didn't have to buy two different foods. It is better than the best. My dogs liked it and the reason I stopped is because it got a little bit pricey for me. Also, I'm buying from a local store that has their own brand and it's got excellent quality ingredients, too. I'm a senior so I have to cut back, it helped me a little bit better. I still recommend it to people.

I find Canidae to be pricey, but within range of other foods of similar caliber. For my particular dog's needs, I required a food with a low percentage of protein. I found one of Canidae's varieties to have 21%, which is pretty low. My dog seems to love it and he has fewer problems with gas and soft stools than with other brands I've tried.

Even though it's hard to find it since they are not available in any other chain stores, I always start my dogs on the Canidae Puppy Pack. Then I put them on Adult Life Stages after. Right now I have Gordon Setter dogs and if they get older, I'll put them on to the Platinum, rather than the heavier protein. So many other dog foods are having problems so I wouldn't switch. My friend who was a dog food representative was the one who first recommended Canidae to me as the best dog food and I’d also recommend it.

Canidae Natural Pet Foods is a great dog food, and our Westie was on it for 10 1/2 years. He developed allergies last year, and we thought he had been on the same dog food all his life, so we shook it up a little bit. He's not on Canidae anymore. It has not made any difference because he still had the allergies, so he's on allergy medicine. We don't want to switch him back though because we played around with it so much trying to figure out if he had allergies, but we think it was a great dog food. Our dog did great on Canidae for years and I wish I would have known about it with our previous dogs. I'd recommend them.

I've been purchasing Canidae food for 2 years. It was recommended to me by the dog store I went to because I have a Staffie (Darla) from Australia and she had disgusting gas and stomach issues. Because of Canidae, Darla seems happy and has less gas. It’s been a good transition for her. My two other dogs eat Canidae too and I don’t have any complaints. I’m glad we found Canidae.

I have used Canidae for my Rottweiler for five years. I used to purchase the Life Stages Platinum because it was formulated for older dogs, and it was recommended by my trainer too. There was a recall that happened, and it made me nervous, but I kept on using it with that dog until she passed away because she had a very sensitive stomach. I have a new dog and I don’t use it anymore because of that one experience whether merited or not. When they recommended something else, I just went with it. Overall, it was great.

They have allergies and the grain-free is good because it helps hold the allergies if you would. I find feeding my pet natural ingredients to be very valuable and of the utmost importance. There's a big difference in their coat and their physical well-being. I'm very satisfied with the product and the company, and they've been very good to me over the years. It's not cheap by any means, but that's always them. Sometimes the retailers jack up prices but I understand that. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the product and the company and they've been very, very good to me over the years.

Canidae’s always been a good food for my dogs but we’re no longer using it. We've used it for at least four years for our two golden doodles, but our veterinarian recommended another brand that had more protein and so we decided to try that. The breeder that we bought the first golden doodle from was using Canidae so we decided to continue using it. I still have a half a bag so I sprinkle a little Canidae in with the other food and they eat it up. They don't have any problem.

Moreover, I spend an awful lot of money on a big dog so I should feed it something good.

We did Kirkland for a while and the girl at the pet store told me the reason why my animals were getting so crazy is because there was secret sugar in them. Some of my friends feed Beneful and they take their dog to the vet all the time because their dogs have problems. We have healthy dogs. The dog that I currently have has had two infected anal glands and one spider bite in 12 years. Those are the only things she's ever gone to the vet for. I attribute that to buying the best dog food I can afford and Canidae is a good, basic dog food.

Canidae is awesome! We like it because we're able to use it for both our Pit Bull and Yorkie. The amount of fats and stuff like that is perfect for both. So we don't have to go switch in between two different foods and all that good stuff. So that's why we enjoy using it. Feeding my pet food with natural ingredients is as valuable as I can afford. We buy them Canidae coz it seems to be a fairly good value. It's a little more expensive than some food but there's no fillers and stuff like that. I would buy them the most expensive food if I could. Right now I have an American bulldog and a little pug and they were gassy boys and so I started buying the chicken but they were still getting a lot of gas so we switched to the lamb and rice, and it seems to work really well. I have been purchasing Canidae pet food for 3-4 years. We have a Greyhound who just turned 12. I have a miniature Dachshund who won't be 4.5 until October. Our son has four dogs that we have half the time, two labs. One will be a year old July 10th and then the other one was a rescue from a ranch in Texas so it's unknown how old he is. My beagle who passed away, his son Magnus just turned eleven July 18th. And then they just rescued a Pomeranian/Dachshund cross. Todd who is a college graduate but was a dog-walker/sitter/trainer in L.A. were in Montana and one of his clients was using Canidae ALS, All Life Stages. That's like the Mercedes Benz of dog food so that's what we have per his recommendation.

My Golden Retriever who never has diarrhea and Labrador had ongoing diarrhea with a $50 bag of Canidae. The Customer Care (what a misnomer!) Dept called many times, telling me the person handling this problem would get back to me, but she had back problems. It was their way of saying 'go away'. They did not care that they had a bad batch of food. Hey it happens on occasion, but a company should ask for receipt and sample of food. My dogs did not die but the ongoing diarrhea was bad from their health to me having to deal with the lawn. Please know if you ever should have a problem with this company, they will never make good. THEY JUST PLAY GAMES SO THEY NEVER WILL COMPENSATE. THIS IS MY 2ND TIME ON CONSUMERAFFAIRS. THEY CARED ENOUGH TO CHECK WITH ME BUT IN THE END, CANIDAE NEVER DEALT MY ISSUE. I submitted my receipt and had a sample of food to send them. Buyer beware!!!

I have a Brazilian Mastiff that is 7 yo, and two pit bulls that are 1.5 and 3 yo. I bought Canidae Life Stages for them since they are of different ages and I thought that would work for all three of them. I have been buying Canidae for seven years. I really like the brand and have recommended it. It's pretty expensive, so it's nice that they offer the thirteenth bag free after you buy twelve bags. That's a real saving! And although it's pretty pricey, I figured that it contributes to the well-being of my dogs since they haven't had any health issues. My Mastiff had twelve or thirteen siblings and few of my friends also got a couple of the siblings. They are feeding them Ol' Roy and Farina and those dogs have already passed away.

I've been purchasing Canidae for at least five years and we buy the Life Stages chicken and rice because it works best for their stomach and coat. Canidae is a company that seems to be very transparent about what they put in the food, which is nice. I like that it's not oversold at just any place so I know that there's more time and energy placed into it. I'm willing to spend a little bit more for better quality food for my dogs.

I was feeding them ** and they decided that they were gonna charge $10 more a bag and drop the poundage per bag. That's when I started looking for other things and that's when we ended up with Canidae. We chose Life Stages over any other Canidae product because my boy has a sensitive stomach. We were trying to find something that was easy on the belly but was still good for him. It's a good food, it makes them feel and act better. I don't want to see anything with corn by-products and all that other garbage. If Canidae was just a little bit cheaper, it'd be great. But aside from that, I'm happy with it. It's still a healthy food that's affordable.

Purchased Life stages, the dogs are in the same age category, medium adults. We found out with other products, quite frequently, their G.I. lifestyle is a little bit off. This is a little bit more predictable and reliable for not only our dogs but the dogs that visit us. Two of the dogs are working dogs and Canidae keeps them healthy.

I've been looking for dog food like this for years for my dogs that have sensitive stomachs. Nobody will tell you about this stuff like it's a secret and one that I want to keep! The main ingredient is duck, lamb, boar or chicken with no fillers. It's the closest thing you can get to making your own dog food with the exception that you'd have to go out and shoot a boar ;). Although it's expensive, 2.99 for the canned dog food, it's worth it. The alternative for my pups was the Prescription Diet Hills that I was using and they developed allergies to that over a period of time. Love this stuff and until and unless they quit making it, I'm with them for the life of my dogs. The only thing that happened was one time was when I opened a can of the duck and a huge mold ball was in the center which was gross, but Petco happily gave me another after my return. Those things happen and it didn't deter me. Trust me. Vets don't want you to know about this stuff.

Been purchasing Canidae since March of 2014 and I recommend it to my customers at the store I'm working in. My dog really loves Canidae food, Pure. Chose Pure since it's lower in protein and she had issues with her kidneys before, so she can't have that high protein content.

Our experience with Canidae was good. We went with it after our dog was getting sick from his former dog food as it was also more affordable then but we're off of it now as we moved on to a cheaper grain-free food that seems to work just fine for him.
