We used Canidae for five years. I liked the natural ingredients in it. We have a Great Pyrenees, a Border Collie mix, and a Terrier. We bought the one regular brand to feed them all. It was a very good quality dog food and was better than grocery store food. There was less waste in the yard and the dogs' coats generally looked more healthy. However, it was too expensive. If I was only feeding my Terrier, it would be fine. I don't mind spending that kind of money if it was gonna last me a while but with three dogs, I was really going through a lot of dog food and I couldn’t afford to spend that much on dog food. We don’t use it anymore and what I’m using right now is about half the price.

Our dog, a Golden Retriever, was getting a lot of ear infections. The girl that babysits her told me that I should change her food. She fed her Goldens Canidae so I tried it and our dog stopped having an ear infection. Canidae All Life Stages has always worked for her so I just kept using it and I've been purchasing Canidae for 10 years now. Feeding our pet with natural ingredients is very valuable since I've seen that it helped them to be healthier when I changed her food. She's 11 and she's healthy so Canidae has been good.

Canidae is all I've used for my dogs for 14 years now and I wouldn't go with any other dog food. It makes a difference in their overall health. I use the All Life Stages and all my 4 dogs eat it. I don’t have to buy special ones for older dogs and younger dogs. I have a 14-year old Golden Retriever and that's a breeder so I have to use that dog food. I also have a Springer Mix at 15, a Maltese that's 13 and another Golden Retriever that's 12. My Springer is not keeping weight on right now because he is old, so I buy rotisserie chickens then I shred them and put it on top of his dog food. I just give him a little extra stuff on and he eats all the dog food too. Except for minor stuff, my animals are very healthy and it's because of the dog food. I've also recommended Canidae to other people I know who have dogs.

Canidae states on its packaging that it has natural ingredients. I've been purchasing it for the last 4 years and I get the large 44-pound bag for large breeds. It's the chicken, lamb and rice. Canidae contributes to the overall health and well-being of our 2 dogs, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a rescue dog that's a mix. They're about eight years old and one of them had a bit of a diet issue but the feed seems to work good for her. They seemed a little more sluggish when we've used other brands but now they seem to be a lot more active.

I used Canidae for six years. The guy at the pet store recommended it then. I like that you buy so many bags and get one free. That was good until one of the two miniature poodles that are about 18 pounds developed an allergy to chicken by-products -- the products we checked out had. Hence, I don't use it anymore.
Thank you for your many years of support. At CANIDAE we do not use any by products, corn, soy or wheat and we have several product with out chicken. Please contact us at 800-398-1600 ext 0 or support@canidae.com so we can help you get a formula without chicken for your dog to try. Thanks again!

I wouldn't feed our dog anything other than Canidae. We had another Golden Retriever which died of cancer and we see that Canidae is the best food. Feeding our dog natural ingredients is very important to us. Our Golden Retriever now is three years old and we've been using Canidae for three years as well. We only feed her the salmon. Her coat is amazing and everybody who touches her says that they had never felt a dog so soft. It's crazy. Plus when you buy 12 bags, you get one free at the end, and that's cool. Now, we refer it to everybody and my daughter has a puppy who's about seven months old and he eats Canidae food too.

My cats started throwing up with Blue Buffalo and I heard that they changed their recipe. Somebody bought them out and it wasn’t quite as good so I tried Canidae and the cats love it. I have small and large 22 cats that I’m feeding and I’ve been buying it for eight years. I like it and it’s good for the cats and their coats are so good and great. I do it because I want them to be healthy so that I don’t have that cost in the long run.
I get the other products too but I get Life Stages more since it’s a little cheaper and it does better for them. I get the canned food when I can. I can mix the no-grain with it, but I’ve had problems with diarrhea and stuff with those kitties. If I change them to even another one of the Canidae brand, it can trigger it. So I just put in a little bit in there and mix it up. I have a couple of cats that have rather sensitive stomachs where they throw up. The dogs are usually okay and they are all doing really well. I had Blackie, she was a lab and she was put to sleep at 18.
The cats’ coats are beautiful especially if I start them young. Bobby is not a nice-looking tabby and the vet was walking past and he said, “Wow, what a beautiful cat.” Stretch, the latest one who is almost two years, is also getting a wonderful coat like Bobby. It really does make a difference and all my cats have really nice fur. I spayed and neutered my eight feral cats and I make sure that they get the good food because I don’t want the boys’ urinary tracts plugging up and I can’t afford to get them all that wet. I use Canidae a lot and so, I want to know how I can go directly to them and save some money. I do the “Every 12 bags, I get a bag free.” That’s really important for somebody who’s buying so much like me so Canidae should not stop doing that one. If they can send me anything and they wanna use me in any kind of commercial, if they wanna pay me or give me free food, that would be great.

I’ve been buying Canidae for 10 years for my Cocker Spaniel since that was the food that the Humane Society recommended. However, I was mad because the it went up $4 a bag when I picked it up about a month ago. Nevertheless, it's a healthy dog food and my dog likes it. We feed her once a day and her bowl is empty every day. So if the dog likes the food, don’t change it.

I have a Great Dane who's turning six and I've been using Canidae for five and a half years. It's expensive but a lot of foods gave my dog diarrhea and Canidae seemed to work. I feed my dog the salmon one and it makes her coat really shiny. I also have a Chihuahua and she is like an old lady but she's still picking Canidae so it's pretty good.

A friend of mine was a canine officer with California Highway Patrol and he said Canidae is what they feed all their animals and it was about the best thing they could find for the price. I've been using it for eight years for my dogs. I had a German Shepherd, a Lab-Husky that is still hanging in there and we have a miniature dachshund. They all eat the same food and they clean their bowl. They seem to like it, and even the cat tries to get some sometimes.

Canidae is the pet food that my dog could tolerate because my Saint Bernard has gastro problems. We've been purchasing it for seven years now. It has good value for what it performs with my dog and hopefully it’s postponing their lifespan, because of the ingredients. I believe it also keeps him out of the vet more.

I've been purchasing Canidae for seven years now. I like that they do the Buy 12, Get 1 free, which is a nice perk for purchasing and being loyal. We have a German Shepherd who's almost nine and has a sensitive stomach, and we didn’t wanna pay for Prescription Diet food so our vet recommended Canidae as a good food for her stomach. She has been fairly healthy on Canidae so we don't change it up. Canidae helps maintain our pets' health, especially since our Shepherd has a lot of health issues.

I used Canidae's kidney variant. I have a sick dog that has kidney disease and he eats for a day and then he won't eat Canidae's food anymore. I've tried several different canned foods. I've also tried two different dry foods and he picks the kibbles out and eats a little bit of the food. He hasn't eaten at all for the past two days. I took him to the vet this morning, and I gave him some chicken and he threw that up this morning. He got his blood and urine checked and I'm going to find out tomorrow if he's getting worse, better or same.
I used to buy the cat food when I was a cat breeder. They had the special for Siamese and I was using that, and I used the mama cat and kitten food. I switched from Siamese to Oriental Shorthairs. I took them to shows and they got Herpes, and it spread through the cattery and so I only have one cat now. The cats did well until they got sick.

We originally changed to the Canidae grain-free formula because of my dog's allergies and stayed with it. I’ve been using Canidae for four years and my dogs have grown up on it since they were puppies. But I had to change one of my dogs off of Canidae completely because he was having a urinary tract infection all the time. There is something in his food that I can't feed him, although he hates it because he’s four years of having the same dog food.
My dogs are my humans and they’re important to me. That’s why I buy a higher brand. With Canidae, I can go to my local feed store like Farmers Feed Store and they offer to buy 10 get one free. I usually pay $10 more and don’t get that 10th bag free if I go to PetSmart and Petco. However, I will probably be changing off all of the dogs over the course of the next three months because even the local feed store is raising their rates by $10. And when I have seven dogs, it becomes unaffordable. Having a higher quality of food shouldn’t mean that the price goes up.

I like the integrity of the company and I've been using their dog food for about seven years now. My pit bull does fine on Canidae. I do add the probiotics to it and some glucosamine in the morning, and then I add liquid to the night meal where he really doesn’t chew. By and large, it’s very healthy for him. and I’m very pleased with it. I just got a blood test on him and the protein was a little bit high, but that could be because of the bananas and little treats. So I pretty much took those out and I now mix Canidae with a special protein dog food.

I don’t have any problems with my dogs, and I just got my vet bill the other day and they are tip-top. Canidae was also recommended by other pet owners and vets, and I like its availability through where I get it. There’s a rebate program that I use. It has been a good experience getting into the food so I’m not making any changes to that. And for the price point and the value and how my dogs have acted since they’ve been on Canidae, I will recommend it.

I have been purchasing Canidae food for four years now. I have a full-blood Golden, a mutt which is like a Sheltie terrier, a hound, and a Great Pyrenees Chow. I have a 10-year-old down to two-year-old. One of the reasons we changed to Canidae was their farts on the generic stuff. They were obscene. We were like, “This is not happening. This is our house. I have three dogs that have been using Canidae for about two years now. I eat natural ingredients for myself so I want my dogs to have natural ingredients, too. One of my dogs is a Bernese Mountain dog and he's sensitive to a lot of different food. And the vet recommended going with a bison-based protein, and our breeder did, too. So, I switched them all over to the bison. We've tried Life Stages but my Bernese Mountain dog can't eat Life Stages. It's got chicken and some other stuff in it that doesn't agree with him. Canidae is expensive and their Frequent Buyer Program helps. I appreciate the coupons that I get every once in a while to cut down in the cost because it's $60 a bag. And for three dogs, we go through a lot of dog food. But we're really happy with Canidae. The dogs are healthy and they're doing well.

I needed to get a pet food with higher Omega-3 because my Basset Hounds have skin conditions. I've been feeding them Canidae's lamb and rice for a couple of years. It's valuable feeding them natural ingredients, and they seem to do well with Canidae. I'm satisfied. The only thing is Canidae needs to educate the stores that sell their products a little better as far as the program where you buy 12 bags and you get one free. They're not very clear on that and it's frustrating when you have to go in and you have to argue to get your free bag. One of the bags that I had bought was a larger 50-pound size instead of having all the rest for the 30 pounds. And the retailer said that I couldn't get the free bag because I had one that was not the same size while the free bag I was getting was the 30 pounds. They wouldn't let me do it. I then wrote to the company and the rep ended up sending me a coupon for a free bag. So, it ended up working out.

Until very recently when I lost my dog, we've been using Canidae for our Dalmatian at home. We chose this food for its ingredients and fed it to him for at least a couple of years. He really enjoyed the pure salmon though I didn't go with Senior. I would rather feed less of adult food than feed the Senior, which doesn’t seem to have the same protein levels. I feel that -- Senior foods are filled with other things to decrease the calorie count.
I would never feed my Dalmatian anything but a natural brand. I notice that a lot of the dog food brands are going with pea protein and I’m very upset with many companies about that. So, I make it a big point to everyone I talked to that pea protein is not the way to go ‘cause companies are taking out meat protein in order to do it. I recommend Canidae.

My dog Bruno is a ten year old German Shepherd and he has sensitivity to chicken. Other than Blue Buffalo, Canidae was the only brand that didn’t have chicken at the time. Canidae doesn’t have chicken fat. Everything else has it even though they say beef. Canidae has clean, limited ingredients. I buy the Blue Buffalo, too. Lamb and rice also does not have chicken. So I alternate, but he gets probably 70% Canidae. My dog has been having Canidae for at least ten years and it works great. He does really great on it. And if you read the labels, you have to give him seven cups Purina for a dog his size. But if you buy a better dog food like Canidae, you only give him three to three and a half cups for the same type of nutrition. So even though the other brands are a little less expensive, you feed them with the same amount of nutrition. So overall, I recommend Canidae all the time.

I've been purchasing Canidae Pet Food for my dogs for about six years now, and so far, my dogs do well on it. I have a degree in animal nutrition so I’m very picky about my dog food. I personally prefer dog food with natural ingredients for my budget and my pets and Canidae keeps a reasonable price for the quality of their ingredients versus some other pet foods that charge astronomical amounts.
I feed my mastiff and my boxer the grain-free one, and they eat a cup of food in the morning and a cup of food at night. The boxer was a rescue and around 13 years old. For the age that he is in and for boxers, that’s old, but he has all of his teeth and no bone, joint, muscle or structural issues. He's got the perfect weight and doesn't have tumors too. The only thing with Canidae, though, was that they have a deal where if I turn in so many UPC codes, I'd get free dog food. But they switched their bag and now, it's a little less convenient to be able to get the rewards from it. But other than that, I recommend this brand to a lot of people.

We adopted a 10 year old kitty about 2 years ago. She had been on a crappy quality canned food diet so we weaned her off that and introduced to her the grain free limited ingredient diet - fresh chicken kibble. Simple recipe for sensitive cats. She loved it but would gobble it up so quickly she would sometimes vomit. So we integrated another type of high quality food that she liked and we had no problem with her keeping it down. So now we give her her favorite kibble but only as a treat and she still loved it. She meows like crazy to have her "treats."
Unfortunately it seems that the recipe has changed, though, and we cannot get her to even try one single morsel. She turns her nose up to it. We bought another bag of the very same thing and she continues to turn her nose up to it. The other day I found a small zip lock bag of her original kibble that I had put aside for a trip. She went crazy for it. So now I am certain that the recipe has changed. Something added or deleted and she hates the new bags we bought for her. This is not an inexpensive food and we've wasted somewhere around $40 because she won't eat it. It's not a matter of her being finicky. The exact same label each time. So, I'm just wondering if the company was aware that there was a change in their ingredients. It's enough for me to not want to throw away my money again.
We are very sorry to hear that your cat has not like the recent purchased bags of her cat food. We are committed to excellence and providing our customers' pet's with superior quality nutrition. If you are not completely satisfied with your product, you can return the unused portion along with the sales receipt to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement or we are always happy to help you with that as well.
I have sent you an email to discuss the formula and to get you some samples of our other formulas to see if she likes another one better. I am confident we can find something that she not only likes but loves again! Thank you!

I've been purchasing Canidae for four years now. Our vet recommended it. My pet is a 4.5 year-old black Labrador. I should feed my pet good natural ingredients so he won't have health issues down the road and he'll be healthy and try to have him enjoy his life without worry about surgery and health issues. Canidae is definitely worth it giving it to my pet. Since giving him Canidae, he has a really glossy coat so he's got healthy skin and hair. It's a great product. But it's a little bit pricey compared to other dog food but you're getting quality. So, I'd rather have quality over quantity for my pet. And it's good that they have their labels system where if you buy so many bags you get the 11th one free.

I was always on dry dog food and then a year ago I decided to buy some canned dog food, which is softer, because I had a dog that I was gonna lose and his teeth were really bad. So we mixed it, and I've been keeping that and just a tablespoon on the dry every night for dinner. My dogs are healthy and their teeth are good. We walk four miles every day. Last month I bought a bad of the grain free lamb flavored dog food and my dog just seemed uninterested in his food. He wouldn't eat right away, he would smell it and walk away. I've been buying Canidae for about six years and have switched between All Life Stages lamb and chicken. I've also stopped feeding them raw recently because I find it very important to feed them with natural ingredients. Canidae has been a great food for my dogs and I recommend them often. I noticed a difference in my pups' skin and coat. However, I'm hoping that they'd eventually come out with something that is a little more limited ingredient 'cause my dog still has certain issues or my Shepherd does not eat Canidae. Also, I grew up with Boxers eating IAMS and they eventually got cancer and oral issues with their teeth. Hopefully, Canidae would make a difference in those things in the long run.

The same line, just the canned food versus the dry food and she loves it. And she's been much better. They thought maybe she had leukemia or lymphoma. She was puking everyday. She was really sick. Her lab work was off. They're now thinking maybe it was appendicitis. But the most important thing was to make sure she ate and drank, and she really chows on the moist food.

My girlfriend was feeding Canidae to her dog and when we moved in together, I took over with it. It seems to be good and I haven't had any problems with it. Some cheaper food would make my dog sick, plus, I don't like the idea of over-processed things. Canidae seems like a better way to go and wasn't too expensive. Also, we tried to stick to the healthiest things for the last four years or so and if you're gonna guard your way to eat healthy, why wouldn't you want your pets to eat healthy? We treat our dogs like our kids and that only makes sense.
All in all, Canidae is great and I would recommend it to those who value their dogs' health as far as what they eat. A lot of people I know go for the cheap ones and I get that because there was a time when I couldn't afford certain food. But once I got to a point where I could afford to eat better, I figured our pets should, too. We've been purchasing Canidae for our two dogs for years now. Her dog is a tiny rat terrier and is 15 years old. He just lays around and waits to eat his food. Then I have an English bulldog that is close to four years old now. We get the Life Stages for both of them regularly and there used to be this neighborhood pet store where we bought it from. They had the little envelope and if we got so many bags, we got the 12th one free. That program was good and we were doing that for the last few years. But that store closed about a year ago and we haven't done it since.
My girlfriend was supposed to get online and try to see if we could get more envelopes to do the program. But now, you get a frequent buyer card thingy then you get your 11 UPC codes, stick them in there, and fill it out. Then you send it in whereas before, we didn't have to do that. We just took the codes to the store and they would give us the free bag then they would go through the trouble of sending them in and getting their credit note.

We’re very happy with our experience with Canidae but we sometimes have a hard time finding it in stores locally so we’ve asked around for natural pet foods. Sometimes, they have Canidae in stock and sometimes, they don’t. So, we sometimes order from Amazon which is what we’re doing right now. It’s good but once in a while, the bag is a different kibble or a little darker than a different bag. Other than that, we have no complaints and it doesn’t seem to bother the dogs when it looks different. I would recommend it to other people and I would tell friends that given the ingredients and everything, it's a good value and the protein sources are good compared to a lot of the cheaper brands.

Hi Scott,
We thank you for your many many years of support. We greatly appreciate you and your dogs and thank you for contacting us when you had this problem. We've checked the report from when you contacted us and noticed the bag was one month from expiration and we are very sorry the food smelled rancid.
When stored properly the quality of the food should be good until the best by date on the bag. We recommend food being stored in a cool dry place as the ingredients and preservatives are natural. If somewhere before purchase the food was out in extreme temperatures or stored in or above warm or hot temperatures this could affect the quality of the food, oils and natural preservatives. We again are very sorry this happened.
We are glad you contacted us and that we were able to replace this for you but are sad to hear this caused you to change. If we can ever offer any assistance with getting back to CANIDAE please give us a call, email or chat and we will be happy to assist you.

What we understood was that Canidae was a good dry supplement to what we were feeding him and that there wasn't much cereal in it. And when that dog passed on, we stayed with it with the new dog, which seems to tolerate it well and like it. It made a noticeable difference for our last dog. His manure was significantly smaller than when we used to feed him the shelf stuff from the grocery store. For our new dog, it's not as big a pile as what you would expect for a 125-pound dog, so I truly believe that there is more natural stuff and less cereal and filler in Canidae. And for a long time, she was always throwing up that yellowish clear liquid. And we could never figure out what it was. And never once did my vet say anything about her food. And then as the internet became more popular, I found out that a lot of it has to do with the allergic reaction to some of the fillers that they put in food. We ended up having to put our dog to sleep. She couldn't even go anymore. She was almost 16 years old. But never once have we ever had her or any other dog throw up that bile looking stuff.
So I did some research and I started talking to a guy on the internet on one of the forums that I'm on and he's a dog trainer. He raises dogs and I was looking for something more healthy. And he used Canidae and he talked to me about all the ingredients and what he noticed in changes in his dogs when he switched to that food. So we switched to Canidae. Now we have 8 dogs and we use The All-Life Stages one. And their coats are way shinier and they're way more active. They don’t poop nearly as much. But they changed their manager and they were not lenient to me. I saw Canidae in a good market for organic and health food. I said that it could be a good brand and then I saw it at Pet Supply. I bought it and I was very satisfied with it. My dogs like it and they didn't have any diarrhea issue with it so I decided to shift to Canidae. I'm feeding Life Stages to my Anatolian Shepherds. They're big dogs and they're now 10 years old. It's their main food but I also buy chicken when it's on sale at a store near here. And sometimes, I really have a good deal, so I have a stock of chicken, I put it in my freezer and then I boil it every week. On top of that, I also buy carrots. I put carrots and chicken and then Canidae.
I have a good friend who works in that store and I told her to remove the chicken skin because I don't let them eat the skin. It's very important to feed dogs with natural ingredients and If I can only cook for them I will so that their food is fresh. But I'm working, so I can't. But if I couldn't cook and there's no sale and my stock is already gone, what I do is I buy the freeze-dried food and put it as a topper on top of the Canidae. When I got to my vet, they will sometimes recommend you Health Science but my dog doesn't really like it so I just stick to Canidae. I have 10 dogs and I wanted to give them the very best. I recommend Canidae. In fact, when I retire in five years, I wanted to be a franchisee of Canidae products.

We have been purchasing Canidae food ever since we got our little Onyx, a Lab Hound dog. Our daughter was working at Petco and she said it was the best brand for our dog. He'll be seven years old in May. He's all black and he's got this white spot right down the center like he's got a tuxedo on his chest. He drives me crazy but he's a good dog. All Life Stages Chicken Rice is the one that he didn't have any problems with. We were buying the lamb rice and the chicken rice but he seemed to have a little bit more problems with diarrhea with the lamb. So, we're just keeping him on straight chicken rice, the dry food with a little bit of the canned food mixed in with it.
When he goes for his yearly vet checks, everything's fine. So, we're just going to keep purchasing a Canidae. It satisfies him and I like their award system. I save all the coupon that UPC folks send and I send them in so I can get a case of canned food and a 15-pound bag of dry food. That works out really well. It is a little more expensive, so with those coupons, it helps. I have recommended it to other people especially if they get a new dog. I just tell them to start them with Canidae, work with the puppy food and work up. If he was on another type of food, I'd say to put a little bit Canidae in each day until you're putting more in so that the puppy's tummy doesn't get upset.
Thank you for your support and for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad that he has done so well on it for so long. We greatly appreciate you and Onyx's support. We thank your daughter for the referral as well.

Canidae is a really high-quality dog food. My son-in-law told me about it. He really liked it and he used it for his pets. I used to purchase it for my Pitbull-Boxer mix and he looked good with it. I was also purchasing Life Stages for my old dog, Lolly. She was an older dog when I adopted her. But I moved and I don’t really have an outlet for it now. It was a little more expensive than what I could really afford. But it was an absolutely great product for me.
Thank you for your support and leaving a wonderful review. We are sorry to hear that you do not have a location to purchase your CANIDAE at. I will email you with some options. I would also like to let you know about our more budget friendly line called Under The Sun. My vet recommended Canidae. And I've been purchasing it for four years now for my Smooth Collie. She can’t have grain-free, and she needs something with chicken and rice. She’s 11 and a half years old and has cancer. My vet said that she needs to be on the senior one, and I've been feeding her the Life Stages. Canidae is good and I’d recommend it. However, a couple of pet stores do not sell it anymore because they’ve had a couple of recalls. I also have a foster dog and I had to get his stuff at a special pet store. They used to carry Canidae but they don’t do it anymore because of too many recalls. But, I haven't had any issues with it since I’ve been on it.

It's very important for us to feed our pets natural ingredients and since using Canidae, they don't get skin allergies and their overall health seems to be pretty good. It’s expensive, but it’s good quality. We’d recommend it. We also wish it was easier to get coupons from them. Maybe some kind of frequent buyer program would work.

There was a solo owner of a natural pet food store where I used to live, and he's been in business for 20 years and he knew about every single dog food on the market. We had a dog prior who was super sick and it was terribly heartbreaking. I wanted to do everything I could to try and avoid any disasters, and he told me to go with Canidae. I did, and I never switched. I've been purchasing it for five and a half years. Our dog is a golden retriever and he's five and a half years old. I don’t ever want to feed him human food, so he has to have really good dog food. He's been really healthy and he hasn't had any intestinal digestive issues.
Thank you for your wonderful review and rating. We are very happy you found CANIDAE and that it has been so good for your dogs. Thank you again!

Canidae is a better product. We have Labradors and Rottweilers where one just passed away, the other one's 13 and another is two. We grabbed one of the Life Stages to make it simple as it's for all stages of the life. Natural ingredients for our pets' food is important and the good ingredients make them probably live a lot longer and not get so fat. I've been purchasing Canidae for over 8 years now and I've recommended it to another friend. I told him that it's good stuff and has a higher calorie content. He was buying some really lower grade dog food but has to feed them twice as much to get the same amount of calories. So, for the price, one can feed the dogs less and be actually saving money.
We greatly appreciate you and your dogs and appreciate recommending it as well. Thanks again!

Canidae was recommended by the vet. My Golden Retriever was getting old, so the senior blend was recommended. Now I've gone through the Grain Free for my German Shepherd. He's now 5, and he likes the bison flavor. He's a real fussy eater, so I stuck with that. My newest dog is less than a year old. He's a large Poodle Sheepdog mix and Canidae didn't have a grain-free large breed dog food, so he will be changing over soon to the Grain Free Pure. The Grain Free seems to be the best one around, however there seems to be some inconsistency as far as the dark color of the food, though. Some of the kibbles were light. But I'd tell friends that Canidae is a good product. I always use them.
Thank you Bruce! We appreciate you and your dogs support. We are glad your picky guy likes it too. We do have a Grain Free Large Breed. It is in our Under The Sun line. My daughter was a Canidae representative and she turned us on to the brand. We have Pembroke Welsh Corgis that we raise for shows. We have them at all ages, everywhere from nine months up to 13. My daughter's been feeding them Canidae for several years on and off. We use the Life Stages since it's a good all-around food for everybody and I don't have to feed a lot of different food.
I've been purchasing Canidae for three years and it seems to keep my dogs in a decent condition. Certain dogs can't handle the grains but mine are not that way. My dogs are very tough and they digest everything well so I don't have any trouble with anything. Canidae is a good food to feed and I would highly recommend it. It's of a decent price too. It could be cheaper but that's dog food nowadays. I'm happy with it.

I've been buying Canidae for my dogs for 10 years. It's the only one that didn't make my dogs sick. I got a Golden Retriever that's going to be 14 and I got a German Shepherd that's going to be 10 and so far so good. They seem to do well with it. But if Canidae was less expensive that would be great. It seems that they are taking the way of a lot of other manufacturers. They really don't change the price but they change the size of the bag and the quantity in the bag. So in effect they are raising prices but I guess that's the way of the world these days. But so far the Canidae product has been what works. My older dog likes it. I have recommended it to other pet owners that have dogs that might have some issues.

We have two Dobermanns, Luca and Lea, who are 80 plus pounds, and they are five and six years old. We have a Cocker Spaniel, too. We feed them food with natural ingredients and it has helped with their health and well-being. They don't get treats and it's all they eat. Our female Dobermann has a sensitive stomach so if we don't have her on a high-quality food, then we deal with really bad flatulence and puking. With Canidae, we don't have any of those kinds of issues. Their coats are nice, they've got high energy, and our female Dobermann is not sick. We had to switch to Canidae's Under the Sun since we've been through a lot and the Life Stages was pricey for us. I like feeding my dogs as many natural ingredients as I can. I've been buying Canidae for 10 years, and I started feeding the Life Stages to my dogs when they were puppies and stayed with it. It's for all stages, so I don't rethink it every few months. I used to have two Catahoulas until one of them died in February. She got stomach cancer, which made me wonder about Canidae. But my Catahoula that's left is healthy and she seems to be fine, so I'm sticking with Canidae. She likes it and it keeps her from getting hungry and that's a good thing. And as long as she eats it and there are no side effects, then it must be all right. I'd recommend Canidae. It's expensive but as far as the quality of the product goes, all I can go by is what's on the bag and it seems to be a good thing.

Canidae was recommended by a friend who owned a feed store and carried it. I wouldn't feed my dogs anything other than natural products and that was why my Australian Shepherd lived to be 17. I liked Canidae really well. I had five dogs at one time and they all ate it. I got down to two dogs but both of them stopped eating it. And the same thing with my cat, she wouldn't eat it anymore either that was why I called Canidae several times to ask them if there had been a formula change because we got a 30-pound bag of it but we only used a little, then the store would not take it back. So, you're going to get stuck or give it to somebody else. But for years, I had a good experience with Canidae. The frequent buyer program is always a plus especially if you're on a budget.

My dog's name is Mandy and she's guess-timated to be five years and two months. During the three days she had spent at the place I adopted her from, she was being given Canidae. Ultimately, she had hookworm even though she was dewormed in Tennessee where she came from. But I didn't want to rock the boat and the place where I adopted her thought that Canidae could be a little bit more beneficial. They didn't give it to me as a sensitive diet but they indicated something about dogs with different types of bellies. There's also the fact that it was Life Stages and I wouldn't have to change. So, I just followed their lead 'cause they were the experts and I had just lost my dog a few months prior. Everything worked and I continue to buy it. It helped her improve faster and she's never rejected it. It's nice to able to spend that price point and get natural dog food.

The daycare that we took our pet to use only Canidae products. The daycare person was a retired RN and she told me that she researched. I also tried a couple of issues of Your Dog. They researched too and Canidae also came up top. Casey, our a male Miniature Schnauzer turning eight on the 22nd of this month, is the reason we're living and we want the best for him. Canidae is what we came up with. His weight is pretty much controlled with it.
He doesn't love Canidae, though. We first got him Ultra. It had the picture of all the vegetables and fruits on the front. He ate that until I bought the 2nd bag and he quit eating it. I've been feeding the canned and the dry. I'd take a couple of tablespoons of the canned and mixed it in with the dry. He'll eat it that way. I called the company and I asked, “Did you change it?" They had taken out a couple of ingredients and changed it for something else. I've tried a number of others. He'll eat the very first time I put it down and then that's it, he won't eat it again.
But Canidae is made in America and I like that. Canada would be okay, but we don't give him anything that's made anywhere else. Also, when I had a complaint about the dry food, the first bag we bought had so much product dust in the bottom of it and then we complained about it. They were so generous with their coupons, things off, and free bags.

A bag lasts quite a while too because you don't have to feed them two or three scoops like you do with the cheap food to get the same nutrition for them. Feeding my dogs in a healthy way was a lot easier on Canidae and there was less mess in the yard when they were done. Feeding pets natural ingredients is very valuable and I have recommended Canidae to several friends. I've been purchasing Canidae for about five years now and the quality is very consistent.

We’ve been purchasing Canidae for about five years and had done numerous research before we decided that it would be the route to go. We acquired a lab after we lost our last lab and now, we have three labs and several litters later, we love it. We also have two labs in another home with my son and we got a Yorkie. I put my cat on it too. They like the food so much. It’s 100% a factor that they are healthy as they are. It’s important that they get fed with natural ingredients. And then we also deviate and give them a little bit of table scrap here and there. They’re even a hair overweight because I don’t get out and walking as much as they should of my back issue. But my vet is completely happy with them.
Canidae also has a great breeding program. If we buy extra amount of bag as a breeder, they make it worthwhile to obtain another bag. And then they have a Frequent Buyer Program. So, if we buy extra amount of bags on a public site, they will give us another bag. There are a few dog food companies that do that but not that many. And we’ve actually been to Canidae’s plant in Norco. I recommend them to everybody that I come in contact with a dog. People would tell us what great good-looking dogs we have and I’d say, “Yeah. It should be a lot of it just Canidae.”

I have Cairn Terriers and they'd eat anything. They're aged from 12 down to 10 months and they all eat the chicken and rice, the adult formula. I'm in the breeder program and I enjoy that. Hopefully, they continue the program because after you buy five bags, you send it in, and you get your sixth bag for free. And for every case of dog food, I get one free. That goes as long as you keep feeding and when you feed multiple dogs, it's a great help. I also tell my puppy buyers to use Canidae. We switched our then eight months old yellow Lab to Canidae and the transition was seamless and easy. She took to it and ate it while she was alive. She had cancer and we put her down last year, but she always loved Canidae. We're a big Lab fandom and we got another yellow Lab that eats Canidae as well. She is about nine years old and we adopted her from my father-in-law and it was easy for her to switch over to Canidae as well. Canidae doesn't have a negative impact on dogs when they switched over to it.
We've been purchasing the Life Stages, which was what was recommended to our first yellow Lab based on her age, and I've stuck with it, especially with the one we have now because she's older. So, I'm always going to stay consistent with that. It is important to feed our pets with food that has natural ingredients just like we wouldn't feed our kid with bad stuff. And if people care about their pet, then they're going to do same for them. Canidae has been good for my dogs. It kept them healthy. We've been purchasing it for ten years now and we've always loved it. I love the reward program as well, which we've always taken advantage of. So I go with Life Stages because it has high-protein and got less fat. My dog doesn't have any reaction to it. Her stool is always good. Since we travel a lot, you like to have your dog to have a good stool. Another reason why I liked the Canidae food is that when you use a strong dog food, you can feed them less. I got my puppy Chihuahua and I had an adult Scottish Terrier, and Canidae Life Stages was something that I could feed both of them because the adult dog kept trying to eat the puppy food. I started researching and found that I can give the same thing to both of them and that’s how I feed them in a day. Also, it was that time when we had that big dog food scare. I had a friend whose dog died and some of the other dogs died, too.
I’ve been purchasing Canidae for about 13 years now. The Scottish Terrier has already died but I have a German Shepherd who just turned five and the Chihuahua is now around 12. Feeding my pets natural ingredients is wonderful! My dogs are in excellent condition. I can compare my Chihuahua to my niece’s who was about a year older than mine and her dog is in horrible condition. Also, my German Shepherd had severely dry skin and she doesn't anymore. When I first got her, she was scratching a lot. Besides the other stuff we tried, I just started feeding her Canidae as soon as I got her. I got her when she was three months old, and Canidae made a big difference in her skin. We don't have any health issues now.
Canidae is the best dog food in the world. My mother tried to feed Canidae to her Shih Tzu who had a lot of skin conditions and it helped. They live in Alabama, so down there they have more sun and stuff in the ground and her dog has done a lot better with Canidae. My daughter in Hawaii feeds her dogs Canidae too. I’d tell everybody I know about Canidae. Some of them won't go with it because they think it's too expensive, but a vet visit is a lot more expensive than paying a little bit more for dog food.

I like the contents of the Canidae Canned Dog Food. I think the protein/fat content is very good and there is a variety of foods. What I don't like is the flip top on the cans. Most of the canned dog foods that I have are the flip top cans and they are very easy to open. I have a few that are not flip top and I have to use my electric can opener. Canidae flip top cans are extremely hard to pull, in fact in most cases so hard I cannot pull the flip top and have to use my electric can opener which also does not work well on the can. So it is a struggle to get the top off of the can. So that is my complaint about Canidae. Not sure if I will buy the canned food again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are glad to hear you are happy with the protein and fat content and are very sorry to hear about your frustration with the cans. I will email you to offer assistance for some of our other wet food products that may be easier for you to open. Thank you.

It's his dog, but I do the food buying. Canidae is a good product but it's expensive. Still, I'd recommend others to give it a try.

It's not the cheapest food out there but you're getting quality food for your pet. It has wholesome ingredients which is good for my pets. I buy the Life Stages since it's what they like. I switch up the flavors every two months and I buy the wet food and the dry food and mix them together.

I like to see ingredients that are good for my dogs and I believe in health and feeding well. My mom did the research and she felt like Canidae was one of the best dog foods on the market based on the ingredients. I had been purchasing Canidae for several years. But the price has gotten so expensive that I just can't do it anymore. It's very unfortunate because I really like the food. But I do dog rescue and I have a lot of dogs to feed and it's just not even realistic. They used to have a program, where if you buy so many and you cut out the UPCs on the back, then you could send them in. You'd have to buy 12 bags and you'd get a free bag and that helped at least. I did that but then when that cut off and the price went up, it wasn't going to work.
I have all kinds of dogs and I used Canidae for all kinds. I've got young Ret, seniors, and a lot of my dogs are Pit Bulls. I also have a Cattle dog that's probably at least 13 years old and she was on Canidae for years. For the majority of the time that I had her, she was on Canidae. I consider Canidae to be more of the high end price-wise and I periodically buy a bag. I love that Canidae has been so good and I tell anybody who asks me to get Canidae even though I can't afford to do it right now. It contributed greatly to my dogs' well-being because they lived long. A Pit Bull that was on it lived long for a Pit Bull. She's since passed but she did good on it. Canidae makes a difference. If they could reduce the price a little bit though or at least offer the program where when you buy several bags you get a free bag, it would be good. Also, people like me who buy a lot of food consistently should be able to at least get some kind of a volume discount.

Canidae is the only food I buy for my dogs. I have been purchasing it since 2005. I’ve even recommended it to some people. I love my dogs and I want them healthy, so feeding them natural ingredients is valuable to me. I have dogs at different ages and the dog food was all stages, that made it simple, I didn’t have to buy puppy food and adult food and keep them separated. Also, I have a dog that was finicky and wouldn’t eat the other dog food and she loved Canidae. I also love my free bags of food when I get it. My dogs love it so I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I've been purchasing Canidae locally for several years already. Other dog foods are mostly cereal. So, we purchase Canidae since it is natural and not a bunch of fillers. We have three pets. One of them is a West Highland Terrier and the other two are mixtures of a Maltese Poodle that we inherited from the granddaughter. The little one with pointed ears is a Pomeranian. Feeding our pets with natural ingredients is good and they like it. They took it right away and ate it which was a big thing. We give them some Toppings and they get tired of that from time to time. But they eat the Crunchy faithfully so it's good. With the pets having Canidae, every checkup at the vet was great. They're all out running in the yard now. We'd tell others to try Canidae and see if their dogs like it. It is certainly beneficial to our pets. We came from California and had two cats. So, we also use Canidae’s cat food, and both cats are healthy.
Thank you for your review Leslie. We are very happy to hear how well your dogs like it and that all their Vet check ups are great. We appreciate you and your pets and thank you for your support.

I've been giving my pet this food for a half year right now and for the portion my pets get, Canidae contributes to their health. I’m satisfied with them for now. My vet said that Canidae was the best brand for a large breed dog with a lifespan that’s shorter than normal. I have been purchasing Canidae food for my Great Dane as soon as she can gnaw up puppy food, and she's seven years old now. Out of nine puppies in the litter, there's only three of them that are still alive and she's one of them. I know it has something to do with that food. My Great Dane is lean and her hips and all her joints are in really good condition. She's never had a tear and her coat is in really good shape. It's like a human being-- if you eat well and you eat good food, you're going to be healthier. I also put my other two dogs on Canidae and they are not large breed dogs. So, they all eat the same food and everybody loves it.
My brother has a Mastiff, and I told him that he would be making a mistake if he did not put her on this dog food. Canidae is really expensive but I told him to do it if he could afford it. A bag is $55 or $60, and when you have a large breed and they're eating six or seven cups of food a day, it goes fast. And that's just one dog. Still, I'm a big fan of Canidae and I have recommended it.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. We are so happy that she is doing so well and that her joints are in really good condition and that her coat is in really good shape. We appreciate you and your dogs. Thanks again!

I've been using Canidae for four years after having to switch from another food. We needed a different protein source because one of my dogs is allergic to chicken and lamb, and we liked the grain free. We feed five dogs with Canidae and they all are in really good health. We have an Akita Pointer mix, a Vizsla, a Pitbull French Mastiff mix, a Pitbull Border Collie, and a mixed breed but he looks like a German Short Hair Pointer. They are ten, eight, seven, five and three years old respectively.
I've dealt with their CS reps a couple of times and it's been excellent customer service. I've always dealt with the same girl, too, which is interesting. At one point, the kibble looked totally different and it didn't say on the package that it changed so I contacted them to find out. I asked if that was okay or if they put it in the wrong bag. She was really helpful and she also sent me coupons in another occasion. I suggest Canidae to all my friends and I know quite a few of them feed it.

I switched off of grocery store foods 30 years ago because I had a standard poodle that started having seizures. As soon as I switched to natural food, she stopped having seizures. Since then, I have used high-quality pet foods and for the past 5 to 10 years, I've been purchasing Canidae products. The pet store that I like recommended it. I have three dogs and I give them Life Stages. Two are boxer mixes, who are both 50 to 60 pounds. The senior is 15 and the other one, a rescue, is about eight. Then I have a rat terrier who is the youngest at five.
When Canidae changed to plastic bags from paper bags, the coupon for the free bag of dog food was put on the bottom. Since I use the empty dog food bags for cat litter removal, I couldn't bear to throw out a perfectly good plastic bag. But I also couldn't bear not to cut out the coupon. So I have to start training myself to open the bag from the bottom, which I would try to do but I have an aging memory. Other than that one grumble, my experience with Canidae has been excellent. It's worth the price and reduced my vet bills.

If anyone has spent any time reading Rodney Habib's work on pet diets knows that what they eat has a considerable effect on their health and longevity. After losing our Labrador Retriever (Jade) at the age of 12, to cancer. We were determined to make some diet changes with our new dog Molly (also a Lab). We scoured the internet for a simple healthy dog food, that was grain free. She has primarily been eating the Pure Elements Lamb version, but we recently introduced her to the Bison based variant. Wow! The first time we gave her the Bison version I thought she was going to eat the bowl too.
The dog food makes up about half her diet. The other half is a kale mix (from Costco) with romaine lettuce and sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries and some sort of fruit. Tomatoes, blueberries, strawberries and an obligatory ration of 4 croutons (she loves the crunch), with about a teaspoon of blue cheese dressing mixed in. She also does get some human food... basically a little of what we are eating for supper. She is particularly fond of any type of squash and whatever meat we are eating. It's been 4 1/2 years now and we are hoping this regimen will help her to maintain her good health until well past her sister's 12 years. Her Pure Elements food is the base which we have built her diet on. Wish us luck.

When I first got my Miniature Dachshund, I was giving him something from the grocery store. I took him into a local independent pet store to have a Christmas photo taken and somehow, me and one of the clerks got to talking. She told me that what I was feeding my dog was not a good brand of dog food. She suggested Canidae so I went with it and I've been feeding it to him ever since. I have gotten several bags for free with their offer that when I buy 12, I get 1 bag free. Usually, a bag lasts a little over a month so I take advantage of that once a year for probably four times already.
Feeding my pet natural ingredients is something I prefer and I wouldn't want it any other way. My dog will be 14 next year and he's at a point now where he's got cataract. It's really bad and he can't see and hear very well. I have to carry him in and out all the time because he falls down our steps in the back. But when he was younger, he was really super active and then, I switched over to Life Stages because it seemed like we were starting to have a real weight problem. We got established on it and he pretty well maintained his weight.
I was in Florida for almost six months and I could find only one place down there that was convenient to get Canidae. And they never had the Life Stages down there. I always had to buy the Salmon flavor down there but my dog liked it and did well on it. Then a month ago, I gave him the chicken flavor and that gave him bad gas for some reason. So, I went back and got the one he was normally eating. I've got some chicken left but I just mix it in with the other little bit every once in a while and it doesn't seem to bother him too much.

I have a purebred blue nose pitbull and I got her when she was about 12 weeks old from the breeder. The breeder asked me if I have owned a Pitbull before and told me that these dogs have very sensitive skins and are very susceptible to food allergies. I started doing research and looking into raw food diets. I tried doing that for a little bit but that got expensive on a college budget. So, I kept looking for other options and then I found Grain Free. I started off with the Canidae All Life Stages then I switched over once Canidae came out with the Grain Free product. I’ve been giving my dog the elements, the pure and all those other subcategories of Grain Free products and that's all she's had. She's seven years old and everyone asks me how old she is that she looks like a puppy. I told them, "It's just the food and the exercise I give her."
My dog's a grazer and she doesn't sit there and eat a whole bowl of food. Canidae’s products are formulated exactly what it says on the label and it’s not bad. If you get the Bison and the sweet potato, it's Bison and sweet potatoes that there's no additive. I appreciate that because even if she eats one or two cups throughout the day, she's still an ideal weight at 59 pounds, which is not bad for an old dog. She also got some muscle on her. If you want to put the life of your canine companion, you want to feed them just as good as you feed yourself. As a matter of fact, she eats better than me because she eats bison, ducks and anything. I get her a different bag of PURE every month, just to change it up. She's not a real big wet food so I tried getting the PURE wet food cans as a topper but that's because she's been on kibble her whole life. It's been a wonderful experience over the six years I’ve been using Canidae.
It’s great that I see Canidae in Petcos, PetSmarts and everywhere now unlike when we moved in a six-month span that there was no Canidae in Petco so I went to a special boutique to buy food. But, Canidae should have a little more variety. There are five brands of PURE but other than that, my dog eats just fine. I bumped into someone at Walmart and I told him what I feed my dog. Then, I bumped into him a couple of days later and he told me he bought the food. I said, "Yup, you can give it to him from puppy all the way to old age. You won't ever have to change your food ever again."

But the pet store I go to cuts the UPC code off then Canidae switched over to the new plastic-coded bags and they still want the UPC codes collected, which creates holes in the bags. I have to put a small piece of paper on it and cover it with tape, which is a pain. If they're going to do the program where they want the UPC code collected, they better find a different way to collect them. Their new bag sucks.

We have used Canidae in the past. We have many dogs and it got too expensive because I had to feed a lot more of it to keep the weight where I wanted it, especially on my Old English Sheepdog. Everybody else did fine on it. My Cattle Dog’s coat was shinier and I like that. I have a Dachshund and it stays fat on air. My little Pomeranian didn't like it as much but she likes the neutral lamb and that's her being finicky. Everybody else liked and gobbled Canidae down. But at the end of the day, it's just too much and I felt that there might be something a little bit cheaper and could get better results for my Old English Sheepdog.
I have a horse farm and my Sheepdog’s out with me doing chores. She's a bit more active dog so I needed to do something different with her. Everybody's usually trying to keep their pets trim but sometimes dogs need a little bit more fattening calories. We're using Nutro now and my little ones really like it. I'm happy with it and it comes in small bites so I don't have to buy them in different kinds. Nonetheless, Canidae is a good product. We don't use it anymore just because of my specific needs.
