I have been feeding my 6 dogs Canidae for 5 years now. The vet used to compliment their shiny coats and how vibrant they were. Last year I purchased a bag of Canidae with gnats or something in it and a bunch of kibble crumbs. Naturally I returned it to Petco and got another bag. I figured that because the Canidae bags had been moved to the inside of the perimeter wall of the building that bugs had just made their way from outside into the bag and had caused crumbs. So I changed store location. A couple of months go by and I bought a bag that had way too much crumbs, powder or whatever it was (bad kibble) and my dogs would not eat it. I exchanged again for another bag. This happened 2 more times up til last week.

I purchased Canidae Pure Salmon Sweet Potato recipe. There were crumbs. I offered it anyway and my dogs would not eat it all. Only a few bites per meal. Not like them. They began to vomit, their stools were not solid, they became very lethargic not even excited about going to the park. All after just 1 meal of a few bites. I didn't suspect the food right away so they went a couple of days being offered this toxic concoction. Out of sheer hunger did they consume it.

As soon as I realized it was the food I immediately went and purchased another bag of food. This time, Canidae Pure Wild Boar and Garbanzo Bean. The kibble was solid with no dust in the bag so I served it to my dogs. They gobbled it up. Their stool returned to normal. No more vomiting. They are gaining back their energy slowly. I have 6 dogs (different breeds and sizes) that all reacted the same from the crumby kibble. I have no doubt in my mind that the bags of Canidae that have these crumbs or kibble powder are very toxic. I'm changing food brand now. Never turning back. Bye bye Canidae.

Unfortunate, because the food used to be good and healthy. That is most certainly not the case anymore. Furthermore; looking back now on my husky Lucas current condition that started 3 months ago I believe now this food has caused her to develop a bladder stone. I took her to the vet for a lump I felt in her stomach. After x-rays and several hefty payments I learned she had developed a rather large bladder stone. She still hasn't recovered completely and takes antibiotics every day til her next xray appointment in 2 months. I will be having the remnants of the stone she passes sent to the lab to find out the cause. Until then...researching new foods for my babies.

I raise German Shepherds. My Canidae came from Chewy, I reported for 7 months Every bag had grounded up junk in it, I took vidéos and pictures of food. I want you to understand this was every order of 6 to 10 bags à order. I had Chewy document this each order. Asked them to open a bag and check it. They Refused! I called Canidae. They said à bad batch, this is a lie. This was 7 months straight! I cook fresh chicken fresh veg. Carots, Peas, Green beans and white rice for topper to go over their food. I kept telling myself it would get better, at no time did anyone offer to send good food out or reimburse one dîme. I spent in food 15,000 to 16,000 à year on dog food. I have pictures and vidéos to back up my story.

Canidae use to be good so did Chewy. They don't care anymore. My dogs mean the world to me and both of them are ridiculous what they are doing to their customer and pets. This wasn't à little bit of like dirt substance. This was so bad that you had to sift through it to find hard food and even with my home made topper they left most in Pan which looked liked dirt.

Call after call and e mails. Chewy loves to send you à Free bag when they mess up then why not open a bag and check it instead. I wasn't wanting free, I wanted issue fixed. I can tell you firsthand Canidae could care less, as much money as I spent and to tell me bad batch but it goes on 7 months, you décidé! I have at least 6 vidéos and at least 50 pictures. It wouldn't let me upload on my phone, I would love for you to see them all. As far as receipt all my food bought through Chewy at this time so yes it is All documented. Tell me how to get this all to you and I will, people need to See the Truth! Thank you.

Initially, I was very put off from Canidae because they push a ton of grain-free kibble/soft food that isn't necessary for my pup and not recommended by vets. I noticed my dog's itching and biting starting up again as Georgia changed into the fall season and I thought maybe a change of food might help alleviate him a little bit. Went to Petsmart, spent like 30 minutes walking back and forth through the aisles trying to make a decision and finally saw a large bag of Canidae Lamb & Brown Rice kibble with wholesome grains. I've noticed reduced itching, more energy, and we've had a few compliments on his beautiful coat! It's also cheaper than the brand I was using before and a great price than their grain-free products. 10/10 would buy again and I definitely recommend this!

I have used this brand for a solid year and then in April, I noticed the first changes. Specifically, the quality of the milled food pellets. There was a ton of "dust" or meal that was in the food that was not formed into a pellet. This would become mush in the bowls and is indicative of poor quality production--this was not the case before. I let it slide thinking it was an oops. Next shipment, same problem and then my dogs started turning up their noses, but would eat in the p.m. as they were hungry. They started having loose bowels and discoloration. However, this continued and investigated in the dog show community and found out that this was not isolated to me and that some dogs were even experiencing vomiting. Scrolling down this thread, you will see the same and I don't know these poeple. Don't know if it is a formula or source change, but it is not the original from a year ago.

I recently purchased a bag of this Grain Free dog food from a Petco. I typically feed my 8 yr old Australian Shepard Taste of the Wild, but I had heard good things about Canidae dog food over the years, and as this bag was on sale I decided to try it (I mixed it with some TotW she was finishing). Selkie turned up her nose at it for 24 hours before she tried it. Within 12 hours she was vomiting. I thought it might have been the heat (it was during a hot spell in July), so I continued with the Canidae/TotW. The next day, same thing. Gave it one more day, but by then her bile was bright yellow with red flecks. Fasted her for a day, gave her Dr Marty's raw food to allow her stomach to heal, and she's well again; no vomiting for the last 48 hours. After reading some reviews here where other pet owners have reported similar issues, I see why Petco had the food clearanced! Guess I'll be sticking with Taste of the Wild!

Six months ago my 13 year old Shih Tzu experienced severe diarrhea and vomiting for about a month before I realized she must have developed a sensitivity to the food she had been eating for years! Her blood and stool samples came back normal so I switched her to Canidae Pure Senior Recipe Limited Ingredient Grain Free dog food. She was fine, doing really well with no further episodes until now, 6 months after eating only Canidae and nothing else. I don't know what happened?? She is now experiencing the exact same symptoms as last time. She is fine when I feed her brown rice, cottage cheese and chicken broth, but I'm scared to try putting her back on Canidae for fear of the cycle happening all over again. Each bag I've bought has been on Amazon and not until now has there been an issue. Nothing has changed unless the formula of the food has changed?? I'm so disappointed, I thought I found a solution.

After doing a great deal of research, I decided to feed my puppy Canidae Ancestral Raw food. The results were fantastic. His coat was like glistening black velvet. His energy levels were off the charts. Everything about him was excellent. People would literally stop us when walking down the street to inquire about his breed, if I was planning on breeding him, what am I feeding him etc. My baby is just a a beautiful specimen to behold, and full of life, energy, and personality. I attribute this all to Canidae’s Ancestral Raw dog food.

Unfortunately, something has drastically changed with either their formulation, or there’s been some tampering with their supplier, because the food is now causing my dog to be sick. He’s lethargic. He’s experiencing hot spots, explosive diarrhea, excessive itching, and seems very reluctant to eat the food. It literally takes him all day to eat his serving from breakfast. I purchase Farmhouse dog food from Dollar Tree because the morsels are large enough for his large Starmark dispensing ball, and he prefers to eat this instead of the Ancestral Raw, which has never happened before. At first I thought perhaps he’d acquired a taste for the cheap food instead or maybe he preferred eating food from the treat ball, so I put the Ancestral Raw in the treat ball. He didn’t touch the ball. He wanted nothing to do with the ball or the food inside. It’s definitely the food.

I’m not sure what Canidae has done. But it’s altered the food to the point where I’m hesitant to feed him any of their other brands. If I can’t trust the quality of the ingredients of an $85 bag of food, why would I trust the cheaper brands from the company. I’ve purchased a small bag of Orijean, Taste of the Wild, and Wellness Core Rawrev to see which he prefers. I’m done with Canidae.

I’ve been feeding this product of dog food for the last couple years now and I’ve had great results. Coats gleaming, better health, even more energy in my dogs. To me the expensive cost of this food was worth what I got in return. But recently in the last 15 days, this last bag of dog food I bought, things have been different for my dogs. Not only is one throwing up nonstop but the others have started and there’s a total of four dogs. They have even rejected eating the food, staring at it, moving it with their nose then walking away from bowls.

Even my 4 pound Pomeranian who Gobbles everything in front of her is refusing to eat. Normally my dogs cannot sit still to get their face and their bowls when it’s feeding time. But now they’ll finally eat after half a day goes by as if because it’s all that they have and theyre hungry. But as of the last few weeks there’s nonstop throwing up, Hesitant and refusing to eat their food and even excess urine visits.

Does anybody know of a recall Or does anybody know of attorney that is on this to figure out what is going on because I still have half a bag batch that can be tested? I would normally talk highly of this food but right now I’m not so sure anymore, people are saying in other reviews the formula has changed and if so somethings going on that’s making the dog food no longer worth buying and is killing our dogs or making them Sick.

This food is the SINGULAR change in my dogs premium quality diet and she has been horribly ill for 2 days after eating about 10 tiny little biscuits from CANIDAE PURE SMALL BREED. She ate at least 6 biscuits at dinner (and a few at lunch) and within the hour after dinner she was vomiting white slimy froth. Vet says likely cause is indigestion/food not agree, so who knows what awful things are in it?! I am 100% certain this food is the cause as I know she did not eat anything on a walk - the day in question was pouring rain all day and she did not leave the house. Also my husband and I (no kids) are very strict about the manner in which we keep the house so as to prevent any consumption of foreign/contraband matter.

Furthermore, when I started offering her these biscuits a few days earlier, she did not want to eat them and left them in bowl each time but I kept insisting she try them as sometimes she just doesn't like something straight away. She knew though, they were a bad apple. My mistake. We will NEVER buy this brand again. ADVICE: Research food brands before feeding. I should know better. As should Canidae know better. They are not 'pet people' - frauds! Maybe once they were a small caring company but as a new customer who has now done their research, I think that Canidae is a terrible brand that people should stay away from! We cannot put our loved ones health in their hands as our loved ones put their trust in us.

I recommend this dog food to anyone wanting to find a high quality food that includes healthy and wholesome grains. My Labrador started out on Iams and was miserably gassy all day long unable to digest the corn they use. I did a lot of research and decided to try Canidae multi protein formula. I was impressed with all of the ingredients that includes heart healthy oatmeal instead of corn and the best part is my dog loves it! After eliminating the corn his gassy misery disappeared. I also recommend Canidae's treats as well. He loves them all! Thank you Canidae for a quality wholesome product!

I have an 18 month old Cavalier King Charles. He was a finicky eater and we tried several brands of food for him. We added a small amount of Honest Kitchen to each type of food we purchased, but he was VERY fussy. I purchased a small bag of Canidae small breed raw coated grain free with lamb. He seemed to prefer Canidae to the other brands we tried. I bought this from Pet Smart # 1809, Queen Creek , AZ. This trial amount was bought in September of 2019. Baxter seemed to like the product. I bought a larger bag in October. I noticed a few green pieces in the food. But since it was a new brand I didn’t give it much thought. Baxter ate the contents without much prodding.

On November 22, 2019 I returned to Pet Smart and purchased 2 more of the larger bags. When my wife opened the first bag she noted to me that there were some green pieces of food in the bag. I told her that I thought that might be some of the freeze dried coating and we continued to feed it to our pet. Baxter seemed to be finicky again. We opened the second bag from the 11/22 purchase and dumped the remainder of bag #1 into it. This was about 5 days ago. Since then he has progressively refused to eat any of the food.

Today our daughter came for dinner and we consulted her about the problem. She trials 3 Australian Shepherds and feeds them Canidae. After seeing the bag of food she stated that it looked like mold in the food. Our dog won’t go near it. Maybe he is smarter than we are. I have attached pictures of the food, bag, etc. On one picture there appears to be some green matter on the bag. The food is green and when the bag is opened particles seem to float out into the air.!!!!

I am a bit upset that I have been slowly poisoning my dog with what I thought was premium dog food. And it has cost me over a hundred dollars for food that may have caused serious damage to my young dog. What to do now? I am contacting you first for some direction and concern. Are you interested in the nearly full bag of this product? Has this happened before? Do you have a problem? If I don’t hear from someone at Canidae in the next couple of days, I will go to social media to get answers.

We have been feeding our almost 11 year old German Shepherd Canidae dog food since he was a puppy. People can't believe that he is almost 11 years old because he looks amazing and has energy of a puppy, STILL. Malachi's coat has always been beautiful and we feel like his dog food has helped tremendously in keeping him youthful. We have started using Canidae wet dog food mixed in with his kibbles and he LOVES being fed all of the different varieties he is given. If there was ever a dog that would promote Canidae's line of foods, Malachi should would be that dog. I highly recommend Canidae to anyone searching for that "perfect" food that promotes a healthy, trim, and youthful dog. If you would like a video of what he looks like, I would be happy to share.

Even after the FDA released the study advising people to avoid Grain-Free, again she stated that this was a "business decision". I've lost total confidence in this company, for putting its profits before my dog's safety. She did go to say that still carry one with grain, but it includes white rice and peas. NO Thanks! They both we’re having some GI issues and I read that Canidae Single Protein is easier on their systems. Both dogs LOVE the food. My elder dog eats her half cup in the morning but paws her food bowl the entire day acting like she’s starving. She has now started sleeping by her food bowl in hopes for more food. She has always been fed a 1/2 cup for her size/weight with no issues. Actually, I had to do 1/4 food 1/4 green beans at one point to help her lose weight. The food seems great but I’m not sure why my elder dog is SO hungry after eating her normal amount.

Canidae was the only one that didn’t have contaminants and recalls that were bad for our dogs. It was one of the ones that were listed that were better for quality control according to our vet. I have a black Labrador and a Boston Terrier and they seem to like Canidae. My lab has maintained the same weight for like four years. He's been pretty healthy with it. I also liked the fact that our pet store gives us a Canidae discount or the 10th bag free. That's awesome. It is a little more on the expensive side but I don't mind to spend money for something of quality. I would recommend Canidae.

Canidae was our choice for our dogs for at least 15 years. They were athletes, trim, energetic, and had beautiful coats. This past winter both our current dogs got sick, one with bloody stools and the other puking up his Canidae within minutes of eating it. The bag of food smelled rancid when that happened, but the problem continued with subsequent, better smelling bags. We had to feed them cottage cheese and rice to get them feeling better, then retried easing them onto the Lamb and Rice formula. They became sick again, and my Great Dane mix had to have a trip to the vet because he was refusing his food, trembling, and lethargic. Vet could find no disease in him. Switched off to a different food, and he went back to normal. I don't think his coat is as nice as it was on the OLD Canidae formula, but I'm not going to kill my dog for the sake of a shiny coat.
