I've been using Canidae grain-free for 3 years both the dry food with a couple tablespoons of the Canidae wet food. My black lab is healthy, strong and he loves it. His coat is beautiful. Our vet is against us giving him grain-free food so we are in the process of switching to one that's not. I will not switch from Canidae because it's such a good product. I'm thankful they have other options for us.

Canidae is like human grade and it tastes human grade too. The dog really likes it. She is a Cavalier King Charles. She’s eight and when we got her, she was six. She has four teeth which is the other reason we got this food because it’s soft. It’s hard for her to eat the crunchier stuff. Canidae contributes to my pet's well-being pretty well. She's healthy.

I've been using it since 2012 for my standard poodle and it's all he's ever eaten. So, he's been an overall healthy dog. I’ve also recommended Canidae to others.

I have Small Munsterlanders, one is 15 and the other is 4, and the vet recommended Canidae when our dog was just a pup. When our old guy was young, he was very temperamental to what he would eat. He would get sick or loose stool and Canidae seems to work. I buy the All Stages brand style normally. I've been doing it for 15 years and I don't even think about it. It's just what I buy. But they changed the bag that it comes in. This new plastic stuff is kinda hard to open. Also, there was a UPC that has to be cut off and after you save like 12 of them, you would get a free bag but it's not like that anymore. Other than that, Canidae is what the dogs are used to and I have no complaints about Canidae.

A friend worked at a place that sold Canidae Pet Foods and recommended it to me. I liked how it wasn't a bunch of garbage like corn and stuff that dogs shouldn't eat. I tried it out and it has been great. My mutts have nice shiny fur and they love eating it. I also like that they give me a bag free after I buy so many bags.

I’ve recently changed but I would still use it occasionally. It just depends if I’m in Kalamazoo. I got new pets now, a Havanese and a Shih Tzu, and they are roughly three years old. I keep their food mixed on purpose because I know you’re not supposed to change their food from one to the other.

I trusted that the breeder was using a good food and since the puppy was already eating Canidae, I didn't want to give my dog grocery store feed stuff. I’ve recommended Canidae as well and I like that the food was the All Life Stages. When I got my last puppy, the vet recommended giving adult food because puppy food makes their limbs grow too fast. Sometimes, that can cause problems when they get older. It can lead to arthritis. I have a Golden Retriever so I like the All Life Stages part about Canidae too because I assumed, and I think rightfully so, that it wasn’t gonna make him grow too fast but was gonna give him everything he needed as a puppy.

He didn’t carry any of the garbage foods and educated me on what was good and bad, and the differences. IAMS was the gold standard but now, they changed all their innards. Then, Wilderness is good, the Buffalo and all those. I tried them but they either irritated my dogs’ skin or gave diarrhea. I always had two or three dogs at a time. So, a it's trial and error and just sticking with the top premium dog food.

I had always recommended Canidae to those people leaving with my puppies. I always gave them a serving to take with them, and then I keep in touch. I would have loved to continue with them as a consumer with my dogs, but the price keeps going up and I just couldn’t do it.

They’re little geriatrics and they had upset stomachs with all the other brands. So, we switched over to Canidae and they’ve not had any of the stomach upsets. My dogs eat it, and they don’t turn their nose to it. The price is pretty good for a pound on average when you break it down. The packaging looks pretty good. It has healthy grains and I love all the different products that Canidae have. But I wish their packaging had a seal or a Velcro seal so you could just reseal it.

My dogs seem to like Canidae. It is a high-end food, and the price is a little high. I have one of my other dogs on another brand that is as high-quality, and I mix it with Canidae. My other dog, Wrigley, has allergies so she is on a strict Canidae diet. He used to eat Pinnacle Trout & Sweet Potato, and they went to the complete west coast strictly. So, they don't deliver up here anymore. I got forced to switch to another food and Canidae was the closest ingredient to that with everything that my dog needed. If Canidae wasn’t so expensive, I would buy more of it. But if it ends up going up any higher, then I’m gonna look at another brand.

We have been feeding our black Lab the grain free salmon and mackerel canned food for many years. My dog seems to still enjoy the food despite the fact that the can's note it is a "new formula". I'm curious as to what has changed? I did notice that every drop of moisture seems to have been removed resulting in the texture being extremely dry.

When we need treats at the house we're a big fan of their grain-free biscuits. As someone that sells their food at the store we’re at, we don't specifically get paid to promote one brand over another. What's good for one dog is not good for another. So sometimes Canidae is right for that dog that's in front of me, and sometimes it's not but in general the ingredients and everything are great. Their packaging changed a whole lot. Probably not the best for the consumers that the packaging always changes. But it's nice and bright and from a marketing standpoint not too bad.

I also looked at the ingredients on the back of the label and I just decided to go with that. It seemed like a good product and made in the United States too. I also like the size of the kibble. I can feed it to all three dogs. I have a little dog, a medium dog, and a big dog, and I can just use the same product for all three of them. I don’t wanna have to do different ones for different dogs. And then I also have a choice of either chicken or lamb. So, I can switch a little bit to do some things differently. Canidae seems to work with the dogs and the dogs like it. I keep buying it.

When I look at them, I don’t see anything that makes me wonder, “What is that?” or “Why is that in the food?” On the other hand, I’m a student who works part-time, so these things are outside of my price range. Canidae Lamb Flavor, Adult. Really helped with digestive issues, diarrhea, etc. Having to switch to RX food, one of my dogs is 9 and had kidney issues when I adopted from Kill Shelter. Age is the issue, not the food! All other dogs are in great health.

We purchased this food for our 12 week old Yellow Lab. He started with a 5 LB bag last week and was fine with it. Purchased 30LB bag from Petco last night, fed him this AM, an hour and half later he threw it all up. The bag of food did have a strong odor but we did not think anything of it at the time, now we believe the food was rancid. Very disappointed in Canidae product, not to mention the fact we had to go back to the store, replace the bag of food, put our puppy under stress for no fault of his.

The dogs like the Canidae food products. We started when they were pups because the person that was raising the dogs suggested it, and it’s worked very good. The quality is good. It seems like the dry dog food sometimes is a little greasy, but it’s good dog food. We leave it in the bowl all the time and they just eat what they want out of it. Several years ago, I noticed the grease was a lot worse. It seems like they must have changed recipes several years ago and then it stopped happening. Now, they got the plastic bags and it’s a little bit harder to tell. We’re pretty happy with it that we have the dogs on Canidae for 12 years.

Canidae was recommended by my local feed store and my vet. I've been using them for 10 years and my dogs have been pretty healthy and their weights are controlled. I've been feeding them the adult dry variant and the packaging of the food is good. There is a program wherein the feed store takes the barcode off because it's not peelable. Through that program, when I buy 10 bags, I get one free. It's a pain in the butt when I pick the bag up but other than that, it's not a big deal. I'm super happy with Canidae.

I fed my Shih Tzu- Poodle with Canidae for five years. Compared to other pet food brands, he would eat it. The flavor he was eating has lamb and chicken on it. I tried all their flavors before I got to that one. But he won't eat it anymore since the formula was changed. It tastes like crap now to him and he hates it. He’d rather starve than eat it. They shouldn’t have changed their formula. They did it because they wanted to save money, and they ended up with a crap product.

I've been buying Canidae for 6 years for our Labrador retriever as recommended by our vet. I buy the limited ingredient diet because these dogs have a tendency to eat everything in sight. They also have a tendency towards hip issues. Our Lab before her had to have bilateral hip dysplasia surgery. My mother comes over here and feeds her treats all day. So we wanna try and avoid the hip and the elbow problems by trying to keep her light. When we're being good with our dog and we stick to the dry food, her weight is maintained, which is good for us. I've had dogs in the past and they would not eat. But this food, she likes, so that's a big one for us.

I have Yellow Labs and they did well with Canidae. Every time we change over to something else, they would get diarrhea but they did not get it from this. I rescued dalmatians from a rescue organization and I was told they were being fed Canidae so I continued feeding them that. It's good food and better than when I was feeding some other ones that are not natural food. I also like getting a free one every 12th. With my dogs being dalmatians I have to watch their protein level and Canidae has 24% in one brand. One type is 26% and that's too high. So if I thin it 50-50 with a 20% high quality food, it's better for the dog. I'm very happy with the product, and I thank Canidae for producing a good product like that.

Fed 9-week old puppy Canidae for four days, as directed (mixing with previous food). Puppy immediately displayed erratic behavior not previously demonstrated. After recognizing a correlation between feeding and behavior, switched back to original food on the fifth day; where the puppy demonstrated behavior typical of puppies (several romps throughout the day and naps). On the sixth day (today) fed the puppy original food for both morning and evening feedings and Canidae at noon feeding. Within 30 minutes of noon feeding the puppy again demonstrated high anxiety and irrational behavior. This behavior has continued into the evening and now night time. The food was highly recommended by the vet and there are many excellent reviews online, however, for whatever reason, my puppy has a severe adverse reaction to the food. I’m unsure, he may be an allergy to one of the ingredients. Nevertheless, not a good fit.

I have a Weimaraner and when I was raising her, I started feeding her Iams puppy formula. At about a year, she started getting consistent ear infections and at about two years, she started to get this weird rash on her chest. So, I completely stopped feeding her that brand food and went for the medicated $80 a bag food from the vet which didn’t do anything but drain my pockets. In the different pet stores that I’ve gone to, either the employees were paid reps by Canidae or everybody loved the brand. They highly recommended it. The price could be dropped a few bucks but I had good results with it so, I’ve been using it and I haven’t had any issues at all.

Yes we have been using Canidae food for our 2 dogs for about 6 months, the food has been good until we bought our last bag - it was a different color and smell. My dogs would not eat it at first which is odd because they always scarf it down so I thought they were just getting tired of it, then they both started to get diarrhea. It would come and go. I really didn’t think it was the food so I stopped all treats and anything else and I was still cleaning up diarrhea all over my house. The brand also fits with my philosophy. We eat organic food and pastured meat. We eat clean, so I would assume you gotta do that same thing for your pets. It definitely is worth it to buy Canidae.

I have fed my Boxers Canidae Grain Free for 3 years. I switched from Blue Buffalo. They are both 8 years old and have thrived on the grain free. They need it as they both used to get yeasty feet and have had skin problems. Both have cleared up on Canidae Grain Free however the last bag I got has a different color to it with different sized kibble. They both experienced constipation! I went back to my local Murdock’s and bought a new bag and they were fine 18 hours later. Must have had a bad batch?

We have been feeding our Black Lab this brand for about 8 months and he loves it. But the last purchase of the 44 lb bag has larger pieces mixed in with the regular size and he seems to smell it and walk away. Have they changed the kibble size???

Canidae is all natural, and that is very valuable. It's like what we put in our bodies, we have to think about what our pets put in their bodies as well. I've been purchasing Canidae for at least six years. The store that we purchase it from recommended Canidae for our yellow Lab. She was about two before we got her, and she's already nine. We use the brown 40-pound bag. It lasts a very long time. I wish, however, that they had a better way to open the bag. When I open it, I have to fold it down and use a clothespin. It's not like I can unzip it. At the pet store that I buy it from, they take and cut the UPC symbol off the back, and that leaves a hole in my bag. They have to tape that up because for every semi-bag, I get a free bag. But our biggest thing is having to get into the bag. It's made up of thick plastic and it lasts me for several months, but I wish there was a better way to keep it sealed.

Then Merrick was bought by Purina. I chose to switch to Canidae based on its ingredients and the way they process (smaller scale). He loves any flavor of the Pure Elements, I usually order the Sky (duck) because I think it has the best overall nutrition. Love this brand, a little sad there is no senior pure elements option as he approaches his older years, and I plan to feed every pet I have in the future Canidae also.

But I live in the country, and simply running down to the corner pet store is not an option, and unscheduled trips are very inconvenient.

I’m a breeder of multigen Australian Labradoodles and I’ve been using Canidae for about six years. It's great. I have tried several different brands and I go to a website that rates dog food by the paws, 5 being the best, top-of-the-line food and 0 being the worst. Canidae is a 4 on that website. Plus when I read that Canidae was from a local person and what nutrients are in it, I thought it was great. The four-meat one caught my attention because I have so many dogs and the price was right. But then I found out that some of my puppies were allergic to the chicken. I switched because you can’t give puppies chicken or beef in the first year of their life. I switched to the Lamb and the Rice then sometimes, I use the grain-free one too. I like that one.

But Canidae was great. There was nothing wrong with them. We just needed to adjust with the transition of another dog and the ingredients.

First bag - great. My dog loved it. Second bag - she started to foam while eating. Her energy went down, stopped eating. Vet visit - was going on for 6 weeks! 7 vet visits. Something in that food made her really sick! Ordered new brand today! Hope no one else will experience the stress and vet cost we did because of the food!!!

2 days ago I walked into Petco to buy my 4 month pitbull some treats she really likes. I came across a salesman from Canidae asking what was I feeding my pit. I responded Pedigree puppy food. She of course said it was really bad because it contained corn. She showed me her product and she handed me a $5 coupon off. I purchased the chicken and rice dry food. My dog ate it once it was her time to eat and when I took her out for her walk, she had diarrhea. I hear a lot of bad things about Pedigree but nothing like this ever happened to my pup. Now that I did the change she has been having diarrhea for two days now. Will NEVER purchase this brand ever again!

I had an overgrown Miniature Pinscher as a pet. I rescued him from a woman in Connecticut. She had all of her dogs on Canidae, and my dog preferred the salmon flavor. I have been purchasing Canidae dog food on and off for him for 15 years. I tried a different brand every once in a while but he always loved Canidae. When I tried another brand he just sniffed it and looked up at me so I knew I was in trouble. He liked the training treats. I would mix it with boiled egg so he would get his extra protein. When he got older, I mixed it with some roasted chicken just to get him to eat a little more. I would put them in peanut butter in the Kong. They were crunchy and he liked crunchy food. I have recommended Canidae to a lot of people. Canidae has a Buy 10, Get One Free program, which was good.

I love Canidae. My feed store recommended Canidae and their knowledge of the product convinced me to get it. I got my daughter to purchase Canidae for her dog, part wiener and part terrier, who wasn’t pooping solid and wasn’t pooping enough. But when we put him on the Canidae, everything was hunky dory. I was convinced that it was superior and that it really helped with energy levels. I got the one with the glucosamine for the big-hip dogs and they’re very good. The retail pet stores don’t carry it though. I always had to order through a feed store or through Chewy.com. I also dog-walk and dog-sit for people and I try to get people to use it too.

I've been using Canidae for 12 years now, and I feed it to my Afghan Hound and little English Toy Spaniel Mix. It's not a run-of-the-mill grocery store brand, and it has a long shelf life. I use All Stages, and I like the fact that Canidae doesn't have all the other ingredients that are too scary.

Canidae has better ingredients and we used it for about 5 years for our cat and dog. Our eight-year-old male cat liked the Canidae but he was finicky. When the cat food got old, he didn't finish eating what was in his bowl. I would have to dump that out and put fresh food in and then put the older stuff back on top so he’d eat that and it won’t go rancid. I had to do that with the dog food too. The big bag fills 2 food grade containers and by the time we got to halfway through the second pail, the food would be rancid. We could smell it. Our 13-year-old dog won’t eat it too.

My girlfriend who had a dog on Canidae recommended it and my dog has done very well on it. When I got him as a pup, he had a problem with his skin which was really bad, like canine acne. He also had a few other things wrong. I had him on a product that had grain in it, then I decided to try Canidae because it was grain-free and it cleared him up quickly, in about a week. He’s a bit overweight right now. He’s a 120-pound Doberman and when he wants to eat, he knocks his bowl until I put food on it. It’s the limited ingredients dry lamb and rice in the brown bag. We bought this food for our indoor and outdoor cats. Neither of them would touch it. We tried it for two days, not giving them any other food, but still they would not touch it. Once we went back to their regular food, they ate well again. My husband took your cat food to our timber and set it out for the raccoons, opossums, and coyotes. They too did not touch it.
