Horrible. My dog hasn’t like any of the toys. You cannot change your choices online. I contacted them both via email and chat asking to change from “super chewer” to something different. They offered to, but never did. It’s way too expensive to get these pathetic toys that are nothing like their advertising.

Reviewed March 18, 2026
This is the only subscription I’ve encountered that doesn’t allow you to cancel it due to being unsatisfied with the product! I signed up for the Super Chewer option as I have a dog that chews everything. I complained because the toys barely lasted 24 hours and even though they promised a change, I now receive dirty rubber-like toys from China (see photo). I pay $33/month for 2 dirty toys and bags of treats my dogs won’t eat!

They stole my money from me. It’s been 2 weeks and I still haven’t received my refund. This company really needs to shut down. I would not recommend buying anything products from this company. Spend your money elsewhere because Barbox is not worth it. It’s a waste of time and money.

I think the toys are very good for the dogs but don’t be fooled. After six months they put you on a month-to-month with the toys. Even if you cancel it they still try to keep it going. I threatened them today for going to the Better Business Bureau so make sure you read the fine print. It doesn’t stop after six months. It keeps going. It’s canceled now because I canceled my card.

Your “Super Chewer” toys are not appropriate for actual super chewers. My dog broke a “Super Chewer” ball almost immediately and ingested a piece of it. Unfortunately, that piece could not pass through her digestive system and caused a lower intestinal obstruction that required emergency surgery. The surgery cost me $6,000, and my dog is still recovering and facing a long healing process. This was a frightening experience that could have been avoided if the product labeling accurately reflected the toy’s durability. Products marketed as “Super Chewer” toys should be able to withstand aggressive chewing. Based on my experience, this toy did not meet that standard. I strongly urge you to reconsider how these toys are labeled and marketed so other dogs and owners don’t have to go through what we did.

Ordered a 6 month pre paid package. Nothing in any email or communication from them said it would auto renew. Even set a reminder to check in month 5 to stop renewal. Did that. No future orders were in my account. No apparent setting to turn off auto renewal. Yet they just charged me $200. Despite not having shipped anything they refuse to refund. Say the best they can do is turn off future auto renewal. This is a shady company. Can’t help but wonder if they are using this type of dishonest customer service as a way to falsely inflate subscribers in attempts to get funding or increase valuation. Dishonest customer service usually means overall dishonest business practices.

The chew toys are always the same kind. There's no variation. I could handle that, but the fact that it takes forever to ship is crazy. You subscribe, they take your money, and it takes a week to even leave the warehouse.

My dogs enjoyed BarkBox for several years but as the toys became less "cute" and the company more woke, I decided to cancel. Beware that canceling means notifying them several times and receiving AND being charged for several boxes before they actually cancel your subscription. Once cancelled, be prepared to be bombarded with fantastic offers to re-subscribe. Maybe if they had put that much effort into making me happy while a subscriber, I might have continued.

Initially, the first few boxes, I thought were great. Then the toys were just slightly different versions of the same toy and I wanted to cancel. It took me probably 30 minutes to cancel and there was a lot of pushback that I had to wait until the end of the subscription period. I kept pushing back on that and finally was able to cancel but not until one more shipment came which they said was "in process" but didn't arrive until well after the chat exchange. That turned me off of the whole BarkBox experience.

Expensive, poor shipping and really small treat packs. Never arrives on time if at all. Spoke with their customer service about my package not showing up and I was done, cancel me. Reimburse me. They take our money so quickly but I have to wait 5-7 days. I am so done!

I signed up for a 12 month super Chewer box for my pup's Birthday, which came with a free cuddler bed. The bed arrived, my dog HATES it, the box with toys/ treats has never arrived. After multiple exchanges with customer service I am told the box is lost. Also told absolutely no way to cancel the subscription even though they have failed to fulfill the order. Only option was to downsize the package from 2 toys and treats monthly to 1 treat and toy every other month.

Do not sign up- they will auto renew your plan. I signed up for a 6 month plan and should have to disable auto renewal. They lost a customer forever. In addition, these toys are not suitable for larger dogs. It's $40 for less than 15 minutes until the toys are destroyed.

Just don’t. After years of interest, I finally decided to try a Barkbox subscription at Christmas not knowing the trouble I had just signed up for- all for treats and toys my dogs had no interest in. Logged in to account to find out it is a major hassle with no self-serve options to immediately cancel. We were locked in for 11 month “commitment” and could cancel only after that was over. Forced to resolve by chatting with rep who re-emphasized honoring my “commitment period”. Not having that!
Rep said they could “pull some strings and see what they could do” and they came back offering to “make a one time exception” and cancel after next month. I said no more deliveries & they ultimately agreed to cancel all remaining 11 months. I have no doubt I’ll need to check my cc statements (zero trust that I won’t be billed). What a racket of a company. Do better, Barkbox. Seriously, it’s pet supplies… Chewy, on the other hand, rocks with true customer service and a business model that isn’t notoriously shady.

I hate even writing this review because I was a die-hard BarkBox fan for many years. My dog and I enjoyed opening the boxes, reading the themes, and playing with each creative, funny toy. However, with this last subscription, things have changed. The prices are increased, you’re receiving less for your money, and it comes in a bag without the insert that made the experience so much fun in the first place. The toys are still cute, but much smaller for even the M/L size box. Their customer service was very kind and helpful, but that’s one of the only good things I can say at this point.

Barkbox toys and treats are solid but the customer service is atrocious. Went and spent $100 online, their app had a bug which they acknowledged as a bug, however they did nothing to resolve the issue and instead told me to kick rocks and deal. My dog said, “they can suck my tail”. Amen bro, you make a mistake and can’t own up to it in any way? Disgusting.

First want to say the quality of toys ARE great. That’s not the issue I had with them. My issue is the representatives do not know what they’re doing. I’ve always wanted to try the Barkbox subscription since 2012 but have never got around to it because I recently graduated hs around that time. Now in 2025, with a new puppy and wanted to give my dogs a little extra attention I saw the Wicked themed toys. I being a huge Wicked fan figured why the heck not. Let’s do it. I see their ads everywhere. So I jumped right in, and signed up for a 12 month subscription. My girls are worth it. I even bought them an extra toy too.
Welp, by the time the box came it was damaged and items missing. That was a bummer for your first but things happen. Not too big of a deal. I told them I even said the extra toy was missing. It didn’t arrive with the box here. Told even though it was traveling with the box it was in its own separate package. (Which by the time I am writing this review has been stagnant and stuck in delivery for the past three days since the day it originally said will be delivered by the end of day.) Was told to wait till Saturday and report back to them. Okay no problem.
I was also told to wait till MID - DECEMBER for the missing items and I will be contacted within 48 hrs via email. Mildly annoyed. But fine… Well today the Saturday that was originally told to come back at for the extra toy that I paid for. They then moved the goal post and report back to that Monday. At that point, I’ve been very much accommodating. I mentioned, "Hey I was originally told to wait till this date. Why is it moved?" Then they told me that there is still a window. That’s when I said well if that was the case why was I told Saturday? They just said sorry for the confusion. They magically discovered that they could ship the two other missing items to my house, and it’s not mid December. (Which is fine. Great. I didn’t ask for it, but that means that was something I could’ve always been done.)
I pointed that out to them. And said, "Hey, I would like my extra toy please. Can you correct that today?" No, but “here is a free box on us”. Gee thanks, but why not? Especially since I can’t trust you. When I was told other information. They try to escalate it they said. I appreciated that because I don’t want to report back Monday for the third time for the same issue. Adding to the fact that you’re moving the goal post. It will just leave me with a chore now. “Sorry we can’t do anything about the extra item, have to wait till Monday.” Welp, that’s when I said I want my subscription cancelled. 1hr and roughly 40 mins. And I have to report back? No thank you. Three times coming back for the same issue is terrible customer service. Three times plus misinformation all three times.
The first email didn’t come though, only when I said I want to cancel did they ACTUALLY email me. They refunded my $8 and change because I said I want it back. (They were probably going to keep that too. If I didn’t say I would dispute the charge.) All that for what? A guaranteed repeated client lost. And extremely disappointed at my very first experience on a something that was an aspiring wish to do for her beloved pets.

My first year subscription with Bark Box was a delight. Every month. like clockwork, a fun themed box arrived on the doorstep. Since I don't have grandchildren, my Ruby is the family darling. The Bark Box arrival sparked a family video call to adult sons living in Florida, Iowa, and Spain to watch Ruby excitedly open her box and discover the toys and treats inside. She got her "Pirate Name" (Black Kitty-Kibble Eater) from the pirate-themed box. Whenever she steals Kitters' food, we still say "Ruby was using her pirate name". Our Bark Box date was a silly game, to be sure, but one we all delighted in.
When renewal time came in February 2025, I happily paid in full for another year's subscription. In July 2025, what arrived was not the cute Bark Box we had come to expect, but a dirty, raggedy bag. I emailed the company and received a canned customer service response: so sorry, blah, blah, blah "Starting in July, we did make the difficult decision to switch to a bag mailer in order to offset rising costs (including tariffs) while continuing to provide high-quality toys and treats without raising prices." I paid for a Bark Box. I had zero interest in receiving a monthly Bark Bag, so I asked to cancel my subscription and get a refund for the remaining months. Denied.
After I posted a couple of negative reviews on their website, in December 2025, Bark finally agreed to refund the two remaining months of my subscription, plus two prior months, to the card on file (which was expired on a now-closed bank account). There is no way to update the card on a cancelled subscription. They now claim to have issued my "refund" to an expired debit card associated with a closed bank account. Back when Carly Strife, Mark Meeker, and Henrick Werdelin started Bark Box, they catered to their customers: pet owners who have more money than good sense. Now, it's just another publicly traded company aiming to maximize profits at the expense of a sustainable product. 2024: 5 star. 2025: zero stars.

I have canceled the subscription 4 times already, and they keep charging me. I have reached out to them multiple times, and they are still not doing anything about it. I have reached out to my bank to get a new card so they couldn't charge me anymore. Their customer service is also terrible!

The toys are fine, if a little boring. After the first couple of boxes, the toys are all pretty much the same. I tried to cancel but they have me locked in to another 8 months. Customer Service is a joke. They cut off our chat while I was typing my response.

Barkbox is a scam, they refunded me 3 times, lied to me about my subscription. Would not allow me to get the promotion because I was already signed up, and canceled to upgrade mine to a Super Chewer, charged me 4 times then told me too late to get my money back. Was over a hour and 15 mins on the text with them. What a nightmare. Suggestion is not to do it. All I can say.

DO NOT USE. THIS COMPANY IS A SNEAK. THEY ARE A CHEAT AND THEY WILL TRAP YOU INTO SUBSCRIPTION PACKAGES. YES, TRAP YOU. Recently, I tried to cancel my subscription due to the economic changes. However, their subscription packages are only available for YEARLY ONLY. This isn't Netflix or most subscriptions where you can cancel anytime. No this is like the magazines of the 80s and 90s where you are on the hook regardless. Please do not buy ANYTHING from bark.co, that includes the Super Chewer, BullyBox and the aforementioned BarkBox.

We decided to give BarkBox another try after a year break because they take the money on the 1st every month but it takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get the box. I was hoping things had changed but they clearly have not! I don’t know any other business that takes up to a month to ship at product that is paid for. We have to finish out our subscription and then we are definitely done with this company!

I signed up for a normal toy subscription. It seemed fantastic at first. Then my huskimo started finding ways to rip off ears, arms, legs or anything else that was small enough for her to swallow. Multiple times I woke up to her vomiting up a piece of a toy in her bed. I switched to the super chewer toys. She doesn’t even look at them. She has a few favorites that don’t have small parts she can rip off that I let her keep but I had to give everything else I’ve paid for away. The worst part is, you can’t just stop your subscription. You have to keep paying for toys until your year is up.
For September’s order, the label was created at the beginning of the month but Amazon still has yet to provide any shipping updates so here is another example of paying for toys my dog can’t play with. I contacted Bark’s customer service and they told me to wait until the end of the month and contact them back if it doesn’t arrive. Wait, isn’t that when October’s box is shipping? This service is a rip off, customer service, although very happy to speak with you, offers no assistance at all. I would never recommend Bark to anyone.

I ordered BarkBox for my dog as he was quite a chewer. I started with the regular box and after one month switched to the super chewer. Duke and Siri somehow know when it’s their box in the mail. There are very durable balls inside of a cloth character design monthly. The cloth part is gone within the day but those are their favorite balls. The other toy is more of a plastic toy they like but nothing compared to the balls. Having the BarkBox delivered monthly helps me spend less money on toys when I’m out and about and I know the toys through bark box will be durable and long lasting. Each box comes with treats but man do my dogs love the cheesy peasy!!

We started using Bark almost a year ago, and have loved it up until this last month. We moved and changed our address with Bark, and the box was shipped to our old address. Bark did correct this and send us a replacement box to our new address. The replacement box was delivered and smelled distinctly of cigarette smoke. It was as if the toys were soaked in smoke. When I reached out to Bark, I was initially told it was because of the treat that was in the box. When I informed the customer service agent that there was no possible way the strong cigarette smell was from the treat, they sent us yet another replacement box, since we had to throw away the toys from the first one. The second replacement box also had this strong smell. It was so bad and has me worried about the cleanliness of the warehouse these toys are kept in, that I still wasn’t able to give the toys to my dog.

I ordered from BarkBox, I keep an eye on when I get notification of shipping. Nothing arrived in a decent amount of days so I reached out to CS. CS said it was en route, would arrive within the next week. No package. I checked shipping progress, no updates, just that it had been shipped. I have been burned before with the perpetual shipping status so I thought this is not a good start and I want to cancel so I don’t have to deal with it in the future. CS said it must have been lost, they did refund the money when I made the purchase, they did cancel the subscription BUT told me that I will be responsible for paying the subscription amount for the next 12 months. They could only cancel the renewal subscription that would take place after the first 12 months. This is crazy to try and force people into a contract for pet toys and treats for a year. No thanks Bark Box.

I signed my pet up to receive a BarkBox every month for a year. I thought, what a great deal to get 2 toys and multiple bags of treats every month with a guarantee to replace any toys that my dog could chew through. I was excited because my dog has chewed through and destroyed wood, plastic and metal. He is definitely a super chewer! I thought this was an answer for us! We received our first box. Everybody (kids, dog, and me!) was excited! Not more than 15 minutes later, our dog brought us a shredded toy…. SHREDDED!!
I contacted the Bark support team on multiple occasions. I was promised a replacement. We are on our 7th month, and I’ve yet to receive a replacement toy. I would love to continue my subscription with this type of service, but have opted to cancel BarkBox after I fulfill my 12 month subscription because your company has not fulfilled its guarantee.

Very difficult to cancel. My pup did not like the toys & some of the treats so it was a waste of money. After I complained they did send different stuff but my puppy simply doesn’t like their toys!! After contacting the company again to cancel they reminded me of their promotion & indicated I’m obligated to continue due to that. They will offer various options such as every other month but won’t cancel. You really have no choice since they have your credit card info. I wish I’d never heard of them!!
