    I bought ASPCA Pet Insurance when my cat chose me to love at our local PAWS. Of all the kitties there, he liked me! They gave me a paper on purchasing the insurance and I sent it in. I have had it for over 3 yrs now and have been impressed with the customer service when I have sent in claims. I usually take photos of the Veterinarian's receipts and post them to the ASPCA Ins site. Then I call the Ins and talk with the lady and make sure they received them all and if there is anything else they need. The operators are always kind and helpful. I have the payments to me channeled right to my bank account. Simple and very helpful too and not expensive at all.

    Any time I've called to ask questions the people have been super nice! They ask questions like "How's Kinzee (or Mattie) doing?" as soon as I give them my information.     We have had many claims and all of them have been accepted and reimbursed. The only slight negative has been on a couple of occasions with larger claims, it took a bit longer to receive reimbursement. I've contacted them in those instances and the claim went through promptly after that. I've found that I need to be proactive and make sure to send doctor/visit notes along with the invoice (even if invoice is detailed) to expedite the process, which makes total sense. I have referred people to them and as long as the service remains the same, will continue to do so. I'm impressed with the range of coverage.

    Junior is a rescue from the Chester County SPCA. He has all types of anxiety when no one is around. His vet is West Chester Veterinary Office.     I have 2 puppies 15 months old and that old saying When it Rains it Pours was true for me. Boudi had to have eye lid surgery because her lashes were scratching her cornea.W e did not have a choice but to cut the lids. Not more than 2 weeks after the surgery and the E collar was removed she swallowed a soft bone and it was stuck in her Esophagus. Boudi had to have Endoscopic passage of foreign material into the stomach and removed. The surgery was quite expensive and I was so relieved that I had chosen ASPCA the year before. Whoever thinks something like this will happen no matter how careful the owner is. I am thankful that ASPCA did follow through with the payments to me in a timely matter and relieved that part of our stress. Boudi is healing and we are very grateful. I would recommend and have recommended ASPCA to every dog owner I know.

    Insured 2 cats and a dog through ASPCA Pet Health Insurance starting in May of 2015. Since then we have paid them a total of $4329.29 for the coverage. We have claimed a total of $1423.00 worth of services/illness etc in that time frame (May 2015 to Jan 2019). Of the amount claimed, ASPCA managed to nickle and dime down what was possible to reimburse, against any deductible they could locate, and have paid us a total of $92.71.

    My puppy had diarrhea initially before the policy kicked in. He was treated and fully recovered. I submitted 1 more claim for diarrhea 1 month after the 1st time. They refused to reimburse claiming it was a preexisting condition. Guess what? The diarrhea was caused by a different strain of bacteria. How can that possibly be preexisting? I can still understand if it keeps happening with the same strain again and again. But this was a completely different strain. Complete waste of money. I've cancelled my policy and will fight them on the charges.

    I am pleased with the customer service that I receive when I call for information in regards to claims. My only concern is the amount of time it takes from a claim being filed until reimbursement is received. For every claim that I have had to file, I had to do the legwork and follow up on it. Each claim needed additional information from either the vet office or the emergency vet hospital. If I didn't call and find out what the delay was in my claims - they wouldn't have been processed because additional information was needed. The additional information was immediately provided and it still took weeks for my first 2 claims to be processed.

The only mild complaint I do have, is that the turnaround time for claims, is a little long, in comparison to other insurance companies. But, I understand that you guys have a lot to evaluate. The other thing I have had very mild issue with is the fact that prescription diets are not covered unless they are treating a medical condition. I feel like that was not clearly explained when the company advertised that they cover the prescription diets. But those two things are very minor.     We signed up for the $100 deductible and $70 plan a month, which was totally worth it. Our puppy, Boba got really sick a few months ago and the bill would’ve been huge if we didn’t have insurance, but all we had to pay was $100 because of insurance. The insurance doesn’t cover preventative care like shots for puppies so we gladly paid that, but having such good insurance for emergencies like Boba went through is worth it. The only thing I have to also say is to be patient because it can take some time for your claim to complete so just be patient!

My reason for a 3 star review is they took a long time to process my claims at first and used old medical records to base their decision off of which ended up being declined. When they used the new medical records it was approved and they were timely with their processing. The other reason is for a high increase on the premium each year.     Your company makes sure that they collect their monthly premium exactly on the 1st but when claims are submitted (which was taking 2wks for reimbursement) they are taking 5-6 weeks to get reimbursement which is outrageous! If you have a dog like me that has a serious condition you will go broke trying to care for them or have to have them euthanized only because you can’t afford treatment! SAD!!!

    I researched 3 different companies that offered Pet Insurance, I choose ASPCA strictly on reimbursement percentage and deductible. I had no other information to go on, like Customer Service, Claims Process, Repayment Times, etc., I choose for the deal and hoped for the best. I have a 1 yr old Labradoodle, call it Devine intervention or just great timing on my part and fortunately the Policy took effect immediately because 2 days after signing up was her first foxtail in the ear. A week later was her 2nd foxtail and 3 days after that a branch pierced her rear inner thigh and broke off inside, 3 Vet visits within 2 weeks of getting the Policy. Submitting a Claim couldn’t be any easier, I was more worried about getting a cancellation notice by the time I submitted my 3rd one. But everything they said they offered was true, within 2 weeks of each individual claim I submitted the 90% I was reimbursed was directly deposited into my bank account.

    They request 2 things at the original claim and not once was I asked for any further information, any further explanations, nothing, I wasn’t even expecting getting reimbursed as fast as I did. I had already paid for the cost of the Policy, my deductible, and was cash ahead within the first 2 weeks of getting the Insurance Policy with a call from ASCPA after my claims were processed making sure I was happy with everything and was there anything I would recommend they could improve. I will renew my Policy annually without question and tell any and all other pet owners that the Pet Insurance offered by ASPCA is bar none one of the best companies and products I’ve ever dealt with. If only my own Health Insurance could be so easy.

    I am disappointed in the length of time it takes ASPCA to process a simple claim. While I understand the need to review and verify, it seems to take an extraordinary long time for each claim to be processed. Some are processed in about 4-5 weeks and others have taken two months. I understand the one which took two months required more information and/or verification from the Vet, but 4-5 weeks for the standard ones does not make sense either.     Sometimes the process takes over 60 days to complete. Most recently I have claims sitting for 5-6 weeks on average until they are updated. I understand that there is a process, but honestly 5-6 weeks is too long. You are more than happy to immediately pull my monthly premium, but to refund the money that I am supposed to be covered by doesn't get to me in a timely manner. If it's a concern of not enough manpower, then higher more people. If it's a concern of the paper trail, make it more efficient.

    My dog has been acutely paralyzed from a grooming/nail grinding session at Petsmart with unknown cause, in which the groomer apparently denied hurting my beloved pet, and no cameras per manager to prove the incident. I have been taking my dog for holistic care such as acupuncture, physical therapy and cold laser which helped tremendously since my dog can now walk, jump up the stairs and run again! It's a miracle indeed, no one would know he was briefly paralyzed with no feeling from the waist down!

    Physical rehabilitation for dogs is not cheap, which could have left a huge hole in my pocket if I had not gotten this insurance which paid for 80% of vet bills, they even reimbursed vitamins, dog food and harness related to my dog’s medical condition which was awesome and customer service was fantastic. Everybody were so friendly, easy to talk to, follows up my case and left voicemail for updates and just seemed concerned about my dog, asking how he is doing which means so much especially carrying the hopeless feeling I had to go through for a while due to fear of my dog’s quality of life and possibly not being able to walk again, since the neurosurgeon who assessed my dog told me his prognosis was poor and even with $8,000 surgery, his chance of walking was only 5%.

    I mean why would I had to let my dog suffer unnecessarily from invasive surgery if the chance he has is quite grim? I am sooo glad I tried the non-surgical route and have been consistently bringing my dog to pet rehabilitation, not only was it's so much cheaper compared to surgery but also less risky/invasive. Thank you again ASPCA, I certainly made the right choice to get this insurance for my pet’s health.

    I was recommending this service to friends, I love the coverage and options but more and more often the reimbursements are taking longer and longer... This is unacceptable and has really gone downhill. Why should this take so long? It should be a seamless process that does not take a month or sometimes longer. Also a lot of vets and hospitals partner with certain insurances, that’s is not the case with ASPCA. This factor and the timeliness of the process is the only downside to this service but the upside is that it can be improved if this feedback is taken seriously.

    I guess disappointed is the best way to describe my experience lately with ASPCA. When you all first started out you were amazing, pretty much paid within two weeks, checked up on my pets, took care of the cremation when I lost my cat. Then I don't know if you all became overwhelmed. Claims now take over a month, I started asking my vet to email the invoices and records the day of my pets appt so maybe that would help it along but it didn't and my vet would tell me that they would ask for them again 30-40 days after they were first sent. I am not sure whats gone wrong and why you all are so slow now but the reason I got insurance was to give my pets better health care that I couldn't afford before. Now I am putting it on my credit card and getting charged interest waiting for payment.

    I have a cat with congenital balance issues. I disclosed the issue including paperwork from neurological vet specialists and requested a medical record review. They couldn't guarantee orally or in writing that all accidents like falls would be covered. If insurance can't protect against unforeseen accidents, what good is it?     I have had pet insurance with other companies before. I do know processing can take time. But I’m sorry to say this experience with this company is too long of a wait period. So far the reimbursements have not been seen within 1-2 weeks and I end up having to call to escalate it and told waits recently are longer than normal. However I have had this insurer almost a year and this seems to be all the time. I’m not seeing reimbursements until 6-8 weeks later. This is extremely an important part of having pet insurance is receiving coverage it’s the whole point. With this wait time it can cause accruing interest if you used a credit card for the Vet bill. Not happy about this at all.

    ASPCA has paid all my claims without any issues, therefore I am satisfied with it overall. But the claims have all taken about 6 weeks to be completed. Additionally, I sent several emails to their customer service email address and only received one (1) reply, which is not satisfactory customer service. Phone contact was good, but even the reps on the phone said email was unreliable, which is confusing. I should be able to chose my preferred communication channel and if email is provided as one, I should be helped. Now that I know I cannot rely on email communication or expect any claim to be completed sooner than 6 weeks, I at least don't question the service.

    I filed a claim for surgery performed on our dog Mambo on 11/2/2018. The surgery was to remove stones in his bladder. The claim was denied as pre-existing. My policy states: "A condition will no longer be considered pre-existing if your pet's condition has been cured and free from treatment and symptoms for a period of 180 days". Our dog has no other medical history for the last 12 months, which his medical records show. Our vet has provided the following letter to the insurance company: "12y MN Havanese, has been under our care here at ** Veterinary Clinic since September 2017. He presented for inappropriate urination signs, and during workup it was found that he had urocystoliths. We performed a cystotomy 9/23/17, with a stone analysis which was consistent with Calcium Oxalate uroliths.

    "The Hills C/D diet was prescribed for the first time post-operatively (again, 9/23/17). Ms. ** refilled this food several times from 9/2017 thru 10/2018. During this time, Mambo had no clinical signs of urinary disease at home. He was seen for a routine vaccination visit on 6/8/2018 and no clinical signs of urinary disease were noted. He came in for his annual exam and lab work on 10/30/18 and still reported no clinical signs of urinary disease. However, on his urinalysis we noted hematuria and crystalluria and recommended abdominal x-rays. A second cystotomy followed on 11/2/18. I hope these details help clarify the timeline so that Ms. ** claim can be processed fairly.

    "Please call me with any additional questions or if medical records are required." Our vet furthered with: "Regarding our patient **, his Hill's Prescription Diet earlier this year was not prescribed for urocystolith dissolution. Please feel free to contact us for more information if required." Seems irreconcilable to me that the Vet says we meet the condition, and the insurance company knows better???

    I've had ASPCA pet insurance for many years. It has been okay. Recently I noticed that they had raised the cost of the premium from $33 a month to $43. When I called, the very pleasant representative informed me that my cat's older age now required the extra charge. When I told her that my cat was not that old, she checked, admitted to their mistake and promised I would see the reduction in the next billing. No reimbursement for the overcharge, but okay, I accepted that. So, next billing, same overcharge.

    Called again and was told that the reduction back to the CORRECT amount couldn't happen till the next CYCLE (whatever that means) which would be in nine months. So basically, I could take it or leave it. My cat now has a pre-existing condition, or I would immediately drop this company. They have nothing to do with the ASPCA but pay a fee to be linked to that name. Not really ethical and definitely misleading. There are better companies. Go elsewhere.

I called and what was explained to me was it is not covered because the first Lymes vaccine was reimbursed, so either the first Lyme vaccine is covered or the rabies but not both.     My husband & I adopted the most adorable St. Bernard puppy in May, 2018, he was 3 mos old when we brought him home, we named him Ziggy. Unbeknownst to us Ziggy's fun, carefree life would be quickly interrupted at the age of 5 mos. He came down with some unknown illness that first presented as lameness and quickly morphed into bacterial infection throughout his little body to the point where he was in severe distress. From mid-July to early August our days were spent taking Zigg back to emergency vet hospital (he was hospitalized 3 separate times) and each time still the Vets were not sure he would survive this ordeal. Primarily because he was a puppy and his immune system not fully developed. We had many scary sad nights, but throughout it our Vets never gave up hope they would find what was wrong with Zigg.

    Happily today, Zigg has been home (for more than a month) and is well on his way to recovering. His diagnosis finally came that he had the dog version of MRSA (serious bacterial infections). Through all of this, we never once lost any sleep on how we were going to pay for Zigg's care. We found out luckily, that the breeder we adopted Zigg from had never canceled his ASPCA Pet Insurance. His coverage was for accidents/injury and paying up to 90% of bills. Submitting my claims for reimbursement was one of the easiest things I have ever done (too bad human health insurance isn't this simple). Went to the website, uploaded receipts, doctor's reports. ASPCA representatives emailed me immediately stating claims were received, and kept me informed of how they were progressing. ASPCA reps contacted the Vet directly, I did not have to be an intermediary.

    My first set of claims were reimbursed (at 90%) within 2 weeks of submission, my 2nd set within 1 week. I cannot stress enough the fact that we were dealing with life threatening issues with our baby boy was beyond stressful. NOT having to have to worry about how we were going to pay for his care was beyond a miracle. Going thru what we have with Zigg, I realized I needed to get coverage for my 2 older dogs, Clay & Finn (Golden Retrievers - 8 & 5 years of age). Now I know I will never worry about caring for their medical needs in the future. If it ever occurs again, I know ASPCA will handle everything for us and all we have to do is focus on getting our babies well.

    And on a separate note, whenever I did call ASPCA with questions or concerns, their very first question upon identifying me was "How is Ziggy?". It was incredible to have such care and concern with a representative whose job (really is to sell insurance). But the folks on the phone were truly caring and were concerned and you could feel it, it was not at all insincere. And even now almost a month since my last submission they were calling to follow up and see how Ziggy was doing, it was like talking to friends. I know there are many people who do not understand the connection we have with our pets, they are our family and to many of us "our children". And like any parent we love talking about our child, the folks at ASPCA understand this and are happy to hear our stories.

    I'd like to start by stating this is not meant as an angry rant, rather an informed warning to anyone else thinking about "donating" to this insurance company. We have 2 rescue bull terriers, being rescue there is never any guarantee of pedigree and consequently one of the girls is not the healthiest. We have submitted 4 claims for her and 2 for her sister, we have been denied every claim. Between them had cherry eye, allergies, bacterial build up, vomiting and ear infection. Only one denial was valid and we were caught by a pre existing condition. The others were genuine illness but were denied all the same for a mix of false pre existing and outright nonsensical answers. To me if illness is covered and your dog is ill you would expect insurance to come through. I shall now be saving the $80 per month we donate to this insurance company and instead save it up for any future vet bills. Do not use this company, they only take.

    Thought plan was great until I needed to use it. Claim was denied as illness was diagnosed at the end of the plan period and treatment extended into the next year plan period. The plan will only cover cost for illness which manifests itself within a plan period. You cannot forecast when your dog will get a disease and need treatment. This insurance is totally useless for me as my dog will need treatment for the rest of her life and insurance will not pay for any of it. After 10 years of paying into a level 3 plan I have canceled it as it is of no use to me.
